This is a super lemon citrus fragrance. It reminds me of some of the very classic Guerlain citrusy fragrances.

It may be somewhat reminiscent of lemon detergent or dishwashing liquid but if your into lemon scents, this is magic.

Histamine

Very refreshing after shower or when returning home on a hot day. And then it is already gone. I quite enjoy the happy lemony flash attack that this gives. It is like the first sip of a lemon soda when being really thirsty and hot. This is excellent if that flash effect is what you are looking, but I would not even categorize this as a perfume because of it super short lasting power. Maybe better on air than on skin and not worth the price.

LedumPalustre

My favorite fragrance that I always return to, I have gone though several bottles of this. A very natural green, herbal citrus scent. It is simply amazing! Reminds me of a lush green garden with citrus trees on a summer night. Unfortunately it does not last long. But who knows, maybe this is why I tolerate it so well, as many fragrances give me a headache. Good for most of the year, only during cold season I usually prefer something else. I have also had several flankers which have been all over the place, I don't like the Verveine Agrumes as much as the green original. The latest Fleur de Carotte is amazing though.

cadencebc

L'Occitane tend to create single-note scents, but I will say this one is very accurate to the note it's aiming for. I remember once picking lemon verbena from some stranger's garden - the sharp sticky tang of the leaves, their green crushed in my nails - and this smells exactly like that day. The garden, the leaves, the sweetness. Real verbena leaves have a strange coating that almost clings to the skin, leaving them with a sap-like scent, and this fragrance encapsulates even that minute detail. It unfortunately dies down very quickly, lasts a little longer on clothes. On skin, it becomes a sad sweet fruity thing that I don't really care for. But the initial spray is lovely and fresh. Would be a nice summer or spring scent for romping around in the grass.

konga5

This smells EXACTLY like Lemon Italian Ices. IGNORE the twaddle people in here are saying (especially the review that says the dry down is like baby vomit) . Again, photo-realistic Lemon Italian Ices . No more no less. If your "big mall" has a L'Occitane store - visit it!

LittleSir

I sprayed quite a few times on my wrist at the store. Maybe too many, because what I got was brash and unpleasant. That stuck around for a while, but never mellowed to be pleasant. Just disappeared after 2 hours. I've used verbena shower gel before (not occitaine) which I really liked: sharp and citrus/herbal/medicinal but not overpowering. Maybe spraying a lighter misting of this stuff would have had a better result. Next time.

Perfume_junkie_UK

I really wanted to love this as I do love a verbena frag or 2.

Definitely got the lemony/orangey/verbena blast on first spray...

Then...

There is something in this that really reminds me of baby vomit. That milky, runny puke kind, fresh from a newborn.

Kind of a secretions magnifique sickly smell that turned my stomach, and made my mouth water (not in the good way).

No herbal or green notes on me whatsoever. The more I smell it, the more I want to vomit as it reminds me of milky vomit.

I'm hoping it's because it's been disturbed in transit and needs to settle, or it's because it's a new production bottle and needs time. I'm really really hoping for this to transform miraculously somehow.

Fragonard verveine is so so so much better on me than this and half the price ; (

Overall not a great blind buy for me right now.

sheenamillz

such a bright, refreshing, lemony and slightly herbal scent! i usually prefer sweet scents but this is just so fresh and wonderful. makes my brain and nose happy :)
genuinely no other words come to mind other than 'refreshing' you just have to try for yourself and i think its a great blind buy. it's not bitter like some other citrusy herbal perfumes but its not noticeably sweet either.

cookygirl

This was just OK for me.
It smells exactly like a yellow lemon flavored lollypop.
Certainly not a bad smell but it's not nuanced enough to be interesting to me.
It's not something I really want to wear.

Got a tiny bottle of this free with a purchase at L'Occitane a number of years ago. My bottle is probably 7-10 years old and it's starting to turn a bit, but the bones of this zesty and bright fragrance still remain. Lemon verbena for days, just a absolute zinger of a balance between lemon and bright, green freshness. Crisp, alive, and not sweet at all. The geranium gives it a twinge of an unsettling, hungry note. It's so bright it's almost effervescent. It makes its presence known at the start but like a lot of fresh scents dissipates quickly into a skin-level scent at best. It's unisex but I didn't find it completely wearable, it almost feels better suited as a room spray. I love green scents, but this was just a little too impersonal for me. 7/10.

sunnyviolets

Of the rare lemon fragrances that *don't* smell like cheap cleaning products, this is one of the best. Smells like you've jumped in a pool of lemonheads after taking a few bites of fruit loops.

Super lovely, underrated and wearable. Especially if you're looking for something simple without being basic, yet different without being unpleasant to the masses. Will turn slightly soapy.

Rangel7

If you're disappointed because it smells too citrusy, well, you might not know what verveine (lemon verbena) is supposed to be like. This is the real deal, a true verbena, bursting with that fresh, aromatic citrus goodness!

It's like a trip down memory lane to those summer mornings in my grandmother's patio, where her lemon verbena bush would infuse the air with its scent, mingling beautifully with the geraniums and roses. This scent is pure nostalgia, and it's so darn refreshing and uplifting.

Now, here's the catch - it doesn't stick around for long. But aside from that, it's your perfect summer buddy, especially for those long, humid days when most perfumes can feel overwhelming, yet you still want to wear something that feels just right.

kimmy31

I purchased Verveine a week ago and I must say it is not as weak as everyone says. I can smell it for hours on me, very green and herbal, totally different from any other perfumes I own. It is so hot this summer in Florida that this fragrance is just what I needed to make me feel not like a sweaty mess, lol. My bottle does say limited edition, not sure what that means, since all it says on the bottle "Verveine".

zames

Well, since I am not a huge fan of citrus smells it is probably not surprising that I did not like it. I love the smell of melissa (by itself and in fragrances) though – but it is not a complex grassy fragrance like melissa, to my nose it is a pure lemon. Lemon and that is it. No development on my skin and quite a substantial staying power. Had to rub my wrist with a brush and powerful cleaner to get rid of it… so its longevity really depends on an individual. I must add though that several years of usage almost only 100% natural i.e. much weaker fragrances seem to reset my nose and now what other perceive as “fragrance has gone” I perceive as “it is here, no problem to sense it”.

[Dimly recalling that I sampled ‘Citrus Verbena Summer’ of this brand and I liked it more because it appeared to me as sweeter and grassier despite its name. It also had some slightly amber drydown.]

Dorange Sense

Glorious how this verbene smells like freshly cut and squeezed lemon. Sour juice full of vitamin C (exactly Erincess). But then the geranium adds an alcaline note that reminds of fruitflesh lingering in the citrus press. It's an oddly comforting note that reminds of childrens bedrooms.

Perfect for cooking, you'll never feel perfumed and it will never interfere with your apetite. Perfect for being around children, co-workers, spraying in restaurants, spraying for yourself to boost your energielevel or spoiling your sticky summerbody.

I was looking a longlong time for the perfect citrus smell and I nor did I find it in Acqua di Parma, nor in JC Ellenas creations. It's the purism for me. It's actually quiet luxury.

Erincess

Vitamin C smell.. feels healthy

sistermoon

Verveine by L'Occitane is an aromatic, zesty verbena that reminds me of lemonade with limes and fresh herbs with lots of ice. It feels rustic and smells very natural. It makes me feel more awake and present. Best suitable in summer on a hot day when every other fragrance might feel cloying.

FirstSense

I spend an hour in a L'occitane store and sniffed almost every fragrance and I noticed that the frags mostly smelled really nice, inoffensive, light and natural. But my nose really opened for this ultra zesty lemon verbena eau de toilette. What a lovely summery perfume that feels like a fresh cologne. The paper blatter that I took home kept on smelling lemony fresh for days. I purchased a bottle and I love it. The bad performance almost everyone is complaining about doesn't appear to me. I have to spray generously but than I get this ultra fresh lemon verbena feeling. It stays on my skin for around 5,6 hours. Can't wait for the warm summer days to come! ⛱️

Lykopa

The most wonderful fresh green lemon. This is the absolute perfect lemon verbena scent. This is such a nostalgic scent to me, as my parents use the diffuser in our living room. It’s just so zesty! Like a good fresh lemonade.

silverlocusts

I agree with the previous reviewer that on its own it is not all that special. It is very true to the notes, and I appreciate that L'Occitane is pretty consistent with their scents across products. The Verbena (Verveine) hand soap smells exactly the same as the lotion the lotion smells exactly like the body scrub etc etc etc. If you have ever been to a hotel that has their products then you have smelled this. It is light, spa-like, and very comforting. While I personally want more complexity from my fragrance that I put on my body I do think this one is successful for what it is. It is unisex, could be used equally to scent the person, the air, linens, etc, is very inoffensive to most noses, and the bottle is gorgeous.

ashdenies

On me, this is a very strong lemon scent that almost smells like kitchen cleaner. I wouldn't wear it on its own personally. Instead, I layer it with Maison Louis Marie Bousval and the two blend to create a very fresh spring scent, citrusy but with additional woodsy and aromatic notes that are absent from Verveine on its own. If you really, really like lemon, you'll probably like this one more than I do. Regardless, it's a good layering fragrance for fans of citrus.

Emmasofia

This smells like these special lemonades you get in a fancy restaurant taste. Refreshing af. Lemon and verbena are very strong. It’s also pretty comforting to me because my mom used to wear it for some time. Gives me nice girl who has a good life and minds her own business vibes.

GinCatsBooks

A fresh, uplifting scent that takes me back to a more independent period of time and a time that was filled with optimism. The first ever shower gel I bought from L'Occitane was Verveine, the scent was the perfect refreshing kick start I needed to start my days off when I was still living in Edinburgh during spring/summer 2018. Every time I went into a L'Occitane store I'd spray this and then proceed to purchase more of my beloved Verveine shower gel and go off on my merry way, I love L'Occitane fragrances but for some reason I have never purchased one, despite this being on my wish list. I finally, FINALLY after nearly 5 years of spritzing and not buying finally purchased myself Verveine EdT.

I actually had an excellent deal on this, I had 100ml of the EdT, a full sized shower gel and a handbag sized tube of the hand lotion, they all smell so refreshing and vibrant, the hand lotion is especially wonderful but this review is for the EdT, so without digressing further, here we go.

The EdT opens up with quite a fizz; as a child, my parents always bought bags of boiled sweets for long car journeys and I had a fondness for sherbert lemons, the opening reminds me of eating sherbert lemon sweets! sweet nostalgia. The fizziness settles down revealing a fresh combination of verbena and petitgrain, the green combination mixing with the sherberty lemon gives a classy "pristine and groomed" vibe but at the same time it feels casual and easy to wear. Throughout wear, Verveine remains like this on my skin and I am absolutely loving it!

Longevity on me is good, I get 6hrs from it but it does sit quite close to the skin, but I've been wearing this during the cold winter months, hopefully when the weather warms up it'll elevate this a bit more. Its an office safe scent and really I'd say its versatile and can be worn for near enough anything; casual, work, formal. I love this, its really perked my mornings up and makes me feel "clean" even when I've been on my feet all day.
Solid love and repurchase

swedishmilk15

Smells like "Limelight" from Bath and Body Works circa 1997. Performance is about the same as a BBW body spray. I love it.

solarpunk

this is one of my mother's signatures but have tried it on myself. it's such a gentle verbena scent, rounded out by the rose. another reviewer said froot loops which i thought was absurd until i really tried to picture it.. and now i really see it. it starts off so strong but fades so quickly which is so disappointing :( like it's faded at least 50% in just 15 minutes on me. it's completely gone in 2 hours.

i like the l'occitane verbena range but maybe a hand cream would be just as scented and maybe cheaper too, so you can reapply it more frequently.

gtabasso

This was my review based on my nose before looking at notes: a short-lasting zesty summer citrus like lemon and petitgrain or lemon verbena. And that's how I call it. If you stretch, you may detect some rose and geranium in the base just giving it a little floral quality. Because it's a citrus, it doesn't last long, but it is bright and lifting for summer.

Ciebe

This one has a lovely citrus fragrance. I much prefer it to their Verbena range. Oddly, while it hardly lasts on me, it lasts for hours on my husband. Go figure!

Yessamin

A fresh summery-night fragrance with hints of orange, lemonwood, verbena, rose and geranium.

EdT

JBee2022

I don't know how a scent that sprays on strong (this one will punch you in the face with lemon verbena) can almost completely disappear in an hour. I wish this have better longevity, because it is a lovely scent. I would say just buy the lotion or soap, they will give you the same pay off for far less cost.

Konga5000

My old bottle ran out YEARS ago- and I was on the fence with buying another - LO ! at my local flea market - a vendor had a full bottle on his table- I ask "How Much?" and he goes "$4.00" as local flea market people don't know brands of perfume beyond Dior and Chanel and Gucci. ( Nor can they pronounce "L'Occitane". LOL) My snobbery aside , I hand the young man my 4 dollar bills . I love this cologne even though- it is fleeting and you will only get a couple of hours with 6 / 8 / 10 sprays. The smell: straight up Lemon Italian Ices from Ralph's !! On a summer day - you will want to drink this!
Nice but fleeting - PERFECT for hot weather !

Suavis

A very uplifting citrusy fragrance, perfect for hot Summer days. I discovered this gem whilst in Madrid and have been hooked ever since. Lemon verbena is very energising and mood lifting.
With regards to the notes listed above, hmm… all I can smell is lemon verbena and lemon, nothing else, and I’m glad!!! That’s all I want 🌱 it reminds me of lemon sherbets 🍋💛
Beware, longevity and sillage are not great, still worth it though! 🤩

washudtoj

Much better than Dior Homme Cologne, price-wise and scent-wise.

Oh my!

I never thought I could love another citrus fragrance as much as l'Eau d'Issey pour Homme and Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche, but l'Occitane Verveine/Verbena proves me wrong.

It has become an instant favourite alongside the other two mentioned above, so now I have three favourite citrus fragrances! Yes!!

It smells slightly similar to l'Eau Kenzo pour Homme and very similar to Dior Homme Cologne, but Verveine is, dare I say, better and more lemony. It's photorealistic lemon, and not just the fruit of it, but the whole tree. I just love Verveine!

Lemon fragrances have the tendency to go into the cleaning product vibe, but this one doesn't. It stays fresh and lemony throughout its life. Kudos to l'Occitane!

bouquetbuff

Opens up as Lemon Pledge. Softens to a lemon verbena. Unisex. But I don't want my fragrance being taken for cleaning supplies. Literally, my son walked in after application and said "oh mom you've been cleaning". If you were a fan of Loves fresh Lemons in the70s you might like this more unisex variety.

CeeTee

If you live in a hot, humid area, you can spray this once, and then walk through it. You’ll get nice whiffs when you sweat. Beyond citrus. Screechy, even. Like a very concentrated body spray. Potent and enjoyable, if used carefully. Decent performance, too. It’s what I was looking for and I like it!

butter3

this is great i do have high standards for verbena ones in particular. perfect amount of a musk that makes it almost smell like verbena/lime ice cream (subtly) in the opening. then more leafy for the rest. also has a barbershop aspect in there very cool. lasts about 6 hours perfect. no annoying ambrox iso e super type garbage in here at all.

Enrium

This is a bright, crisp and fresh citrus scent with a lovely green herbal base, conjuring up the image of lemon trees in a herb garden in summertime.

The opening lemon note is vibrant and sparkling, resembling lemongrass to me. It doesn't last long before the grassy herbal dry-down, which also fades fast. This feels more like an eau fraiche than edt, with no longevity and fleeting sillage. I have the travel-sized splash bottle which is ideal, as it requires reapplication and is impossible to over-apply.

This is a beautiful green citrus scent that is ideal for summer, but is very versatile. It can be worn year-round and is perfect for post-shower application, either morning or late at night. Definitely unisex too. Hard to fault apart from the lack of longevity. 3/5.

Timaka

Lovely, crisp and lemony. Quite sparkling and mouthwatering, actually. Perfect straight out of the shower or just to spray around the house. Doesn’t last long on skin, unfortunately.

dsktp

Very pleasant scent from L'Occitane. Clean crisp lemon, green verbena - perfect for hot sunny days, especially for the entire family when out and about (not that I'm doing much of that these days given current events, of course!). I have a 10mL roller so although it doesn't last very long, it's very portable and gives me a nice 1-3 hours of scent that stays fairly close to the skin. (For what it's worth, I always end up applying very little with roller-ball fragrances - I think projection could be a different story when spraying.)

panda-inc

This is a great pick-me up in the morning right after a shower. The first spray blast really smell like lemongrass rather than lemon verbena which I have growing in my garden. I put this on par with the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria range of colognes where longetivity is not that great but the opening is to die for.

scarlet.carsons

Close your eyes, relax. You're now in your summer garden.

AMajeedQT

Clean, fresh lemon. So lemony, it is almost surprising there is no lemon note in it, just verbena.

It's beautiful how the lemon scent here is not sour but rather green & herbal, almost sweet.

This is a true summer scent; so fresh, energetic, & happy. Yet, it is cozy & comfortable to wear after a hot, late-night shower, after which you sit home & unwind.

Such a shame though that it suffers performance-wise. It's a 4 hours scent, with minimal projection after the first hour. That seems to be the case of all these "natural cosmetic" brands (L'Occitane, The Body Shop, Yves Rocher...etc).

Ah, well. I love wearing it & I do not regret buying it at all.

lisa.meskimen

In the heat, the sugary lemon fades into green, herbal verbena. It is earthy and calming. As other people have mentioned, the longevity is really poor. I still love it for the immediate impact that spraying Verveine has on me. A very happy fragrance.

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Sparkly fresh. If you want to imagine how it smells - think about lemongrass essential oil. If Eau De Sud Annick Goutal is a grandma, Verbene Loccitane is her pretty young granddaughter. Safe blind buy. Perfect summer fragrance. Does not last long as most other citrus frags.

Soulfully Yours

I love the purse size in this. It is really a great burst of fresh lemon. Zesty, fresh citrus and like you are actually squeezing out a real lemon on your skin.
Very poor lasting power. I love the shower gel, hand sanitizer and it is a regular in my bathroom. My kids a8hubby love this!!
I will definitely repurchase the travel size!

NoelleNice

Wow! Such a pleasant surprise. A fresh, cool citrus burst of clean but delicious lemon verbena scent. Great for summer. The floral in this gives it a glorious, soft hint of sweetness in dry down. I particularly love the skin and bathroom products though! The body lotion is to die for and great for layering with other perfumes. It smells to me of creamy yet fresh lemon myrtle on dry down. Delicious in an unexpected way. L’occitane fragrances and products always feel luxurious and of high quality to me.

no-fi

This was a pleasant surprise after a disappointing day of testing in which nothing really stood out to me. Perhaps it's because Verveine is so simple in concept and execution; a sweet, citrusy burst of verbena with a subtle floral accompaniment. It's uplifting, sparkling and fresh. I bought a bottle of the body wash so I can start my days with a spring in my step; it will be perfect to shower with before layering with my scent of the day. Wonderful stuff.

Rebemario

Ok, so this gave me the vapors!! It’s so beautiful I was literally overwhelmed and then I saw the rose note, I should have known, one of my favorite notes of all time and it’s blends gorgeously with the lemon. I get lemon blast which I adore but very tart and green, like lemon mixed with lemon grass and lemon leaves. Not a sweet note here which I am thrilled about. I’m hating sweet notes lately! There’s a tiny hint of Rose I think to keep it from fading away so quickly but this is gorgeous, exquisite if you are a lover of lemon, this is for you :)

Denoula

I am wearing a light version of this called 'Outdoor Spray'. It is supposed to repel mosquitoes.
The scent itself is refreshing & good for warm weather.

RB2002

Lemon is tough to do, since lemon is a "top" note and tends to fade fast, and you end up smelling whatever mid and basenotes are in the perfume. This has a green, herbal, zesty type of a lemon scent. I was worried that the rose or geranium would overpower it, but I find that with my chemistry, it stays zesty and lemony. Also my tastes have changed, and I tend to buy fragrances in solid or oil form these days, since the alcohol in sprays tends to bother me lately, but this one doesn't. An herbal, fresh, quality lemon scent. I really like it!

The Citrus Verbena that's in stores now is good too, that one is lemony with some grapefruit, orange and verbena. Doesn't turn funky or floral, and no weird side smells emerge. These both are the perfect citruses.

denmaz

Smells like lemongrass. Refreshing scent.. can be used as air freshener too :-)

Eesa

Straight up Lemonheads on me. A sweet, very tart lemon. I love Lemonheads, so I love this fragrance too! It has decent longevity and sillage for a citrus scent. What I think of as an optimistic, sparkling fragrance, and safe for any environment. I am very pleased by its scent and quality.

Mirella86

I liked this at first, when I bought it. It was very hot and it seemed to work ok for that weather. However, after a while I started being bothered by the bitter notes. Maybe too much lemon? I wouldn't buy it again. And I will also stay away from the verbena for a while

ronin.jose

The overall smell is accurate to a lemon flavored hard candy or a lemon flavored lozenges, but to be honest, it's more than just that. If you take this fragrance on every facet of it, or if you pay more attention to it, you can get the naturalistic qualities of it. On some point, it's akin to the smell of a freshly sliced lemon, tart and naturally sweet and juicy. Also, at some point, I can get a smell that is similar to lemongrass oil... aromatherapy-like. One thing too is that on the very dry down of it or when I smell it from a distance, I can detect a subtle lychee note, which is kind of interesing. A simple soli(citrus?) lemony scent can have some other hidden facets, but it's still resembling a singular smell. Those facets are a mere supporting details. This definitely became my signatre scent.

This is perfect if you're looking for a perfect lemon fragrance. It's more on the tart side, rather on the sharp and bitter masculine/cologne-like side.

10/10

noirmoi

This is beautiful. Gorgeously fresh, sparkly, full of zest and the joy of living! Lovely lovely lemon - of tree, grass, leaf, and herb! Beautiful! So refreshing and happy!!! Really brightens me up, whether I need to be or not! I love it!!

perfumelovermadz

This smells amazingly fresh! Very citrusy with a hint of sweetness. The lemon and verbena are quite dominant on me, which I love. It makes me very happy every time I wear it and I love How if is perfect for a hot summers day - which I will be having plenty of in the next few months!

Odie Cologne

Bracing, uplifting and refreshing. It's a beautifully natural rendition of lemon verbena that smells nothing whatsoever like any kind of cleaner. It's a shame that such a great product gets so many backhanded compliments.

One of my very favorite summer scents.

Konga5000

I was really depressed today and while skulking through the mall I spotted a newly opened L'Occitane shop! Where'd that come from?

Sniffing around .....THIS...stopped me in my gloomy tracks!
HAPPINESS in a bottle! And very very natural smelling too.
For the price- you do get a nice sized bottle.
Basically it's spray-on Lemon Verbena soap.

Nice to have this in my collection. Cheered me up today!

delio

The perfume opens with citrus touch, too much lime, and then a touch of green bush. Reminds me Chanel Cristalle EDT.

Cloudburst2000

This fragrance reminds me of the scent of this bath bomb from Lush. I swear that they smell exactly the same. This is a nice sweet lemony scent. It smells like lemon candy not like lemon cleaner. I find it kind of strong so I wouldn't wear it to the office. It is a scent that I like to wear around my home all year and sometimes to wear out during the hot summer months. It has fairly good projection but rather poor longevity. It last only about an hour or so on my skin, but I really like the lemon scent so I'll keep buying it. Most lemony fragrances just don't last on me. This one if no exception.

diego.rzse

It might be a L'Occitane's classic but it doesn't live up to its price and fame.
It literally lasts 15 min without any projection, it's not like a cologne that doesn't have that much of projection but if you sniff your arm you'll smell it, it simply vanishes within minutes.
Its longevity is the same as their Verbena soap or shower gel, actually the shower gel lasts longer than this cologne (that should be called "refreshing brume" not and edt or edc).
It smells citric and fresh but it has the worst staying power I've ever seen. They should reformulate it with at least more staying power.

mr_bojangles

To me...this smells like those citrus flavoured lozenges you suck on when you have a sore throat.

Yuck!

Heartswell.

This baby is heaven in a bottle for any citrus lover: it's pure, invigorating, fresh and quite realistic. While I know this is a lemon verbena scent, it smells like raw lemongrass to me, down to the green notes and its "bite".

It's definitely a summery scent, but it's good as a pick-me-up all year-round!

This is a truly beautiful scent. It starts with a strong sweet hard lemon candy smell, then I can smell the rose and geranium and a slight lemon tree/lemon leaf note. Once the verbena comes out in the end it has turned into such a pretty scent. It lasts about 3-4 hours on me and everyone around could smell it and complimented. I usually get headaches from perfume but this one is perfect for me.

I bought this for my mother, who has a very sensitive nose and is easily overpowered by most perfumes. She likes scents that are clean, natural, fresh, and straightforward. Verveine fits the bill entirely. It's sparkly, smiling, friendly, and optimistic - smelling this feels like sitting in the shade on a hot day and having a tall glass of cold, barely-sweetened lemonade. The tartness is not excessive, and neither is the sweetness, they balance each other out perfectly. It's a perfectly approachable perfume; if you like zingy, juicy, refreshing lemon you'll probably love this.

Lettukestit

This is pure lemon candy <3 I utterly love it! Only problem is the longevity, which is bad. But I hear it's the case with all citruses, so wont hold that against it.

The only issue I can see being is if one really wants to smell of lemon candy.. or will it turn to pledge or bathroom freshener with time.

labradorite

I don't know what's wrong with my nose. I loved Verveine two or three years ago and it was on the top of my wishlist, but now that I have it... It smells like artificial lemonade you can get at any supermarket with loads of added synthetic sweetener. I have no idea where the sweetness is coming from, I don't remember it from the past and I don't see any indicator within the listed notes either. I don't get any geranium or rose, not on initial spray nor in the dry down. Though I mostly used to test it in the summer, so I should probably give it another chance in warm weather. I'm so sad. I couldn't believe my luck when I got hold on a 20ml travel size bottle.

Calamity

Terrific lemon scent, very strong--almost potent, but in an amazing way. It's greatly priced as well. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer. If you look into this house (L'Occitan), don't just look into their fragrances, their creams and lotions are fantastic and smell just as good. If you don't agree with the fragrance, you may use their other stuff and even layer it with you fragrances! Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Top quality stuff.

rickyfreaky13

The first spray is the reason i'll buy this perfume, reminds me my childhood lemon candy that i reall love.. but 15 minutes later it drydown into bitter sweet flower, still nice, but i hope the top notes stay longer

AND-MAT

This smells exactly like a freshly squeezed lemonade. It is fresh, lemony, sweet and bitter!

Squeeze one lemon, let some lemon peel soak in the juice for 2 hours, add some sugar and water, add ice and have a smell... This is it. A lemony heaven of a great quality lemonade or a lemon sorbet!

Once applied, the blast of lemon will take you by surprise, for the first 2 minutes, this perfume projects like crazy so people around you will smell it and might be bothered. After that, it becomes more subtle and tolerable. Since citrus are among my favorite notes, and lemonade happens to be my favorite refreshing drink, I have no problem smelling it all day! However it does not last much (4 hours max) but respraying it from time to time is not that bad when you consider it's refreshing factor when it's hot outside!

On a side note, it is great in layering it with other perfumes... It's lemony, so you'll rarely go wrong with it as it virtually goes well with any perfume. You just need to dose it well.
I tried it today with LIDGE (l'instant de guerlain extreme) and it was a bad idea because they are both very heavy on the opening I struggled at first... Then, on the drydown, I got something very weird and unique yet very very good! Verveine added a nice fresh lemony kick to that Cocoa/anise heart of LIDGE which made it smoother and somewhat sporty. It tamed down the seriousness of LIDGE with a playful fuzzy note wich lasted a long time! I bet that we can experience the effect of verveine on a lot of other scents!

If you are after Vervena scent this is the one. I'm on my third bottle.

Very refreshing, airy and no heaviness which I really like. I tend to use this in summer or after gym.
The problem is that there is no lasting power AT ALL! That is why I'm on my 3rd bottle..

I tested other Vervena scents of L'Occitanne but this is the best for me. Names of their Vervena perfumes are similar and bit confusing so be careful when you buy.

raw umber

Verveine by L`Occitane en Provencene is one of the purest most refreshing verbena scents I've ever experienced. It smells like a gourmet lemon sorbet.

This is the scent that started my niche journey. It's just so realistic and satisfying. Quality is unbeatable. Everything that is Summer and luxury, condensed into something so simple. It would be great for yoga or meditating. Also if you feel emotionally stale, this is unbeatable.

An iconic verbena.

AnnetteInFrance

If you're from the UK you'll understand when i say this smells exactly like Lockets Honey & Lemon cough sweets. It's a very strong citronella smell that some could easily mistake for mosquito spray. If you're looking for a fresh, zesty, SWEET lemon this is not for you!The Yves Rocher verveine despite poor longevity is a much cheaper, safer, more neutral option for a blind buy. This one needs to be tried first - you might love it. I really don't unfortunately.

Houdini4

Brilliantly bright fragrance, the verbena just sings and zings with a slight green vibe but primarily it's a strong natural citrus. The sweetness gives it the candy/sweets feel many describe and it does smell very much like lemon sherbet sweets to me and if you like them (which I do!) this will be a winning fragrance for you.
It can't be thought of in simplistic lemon terms like something which smells like a cheap detergent or bathroom cleaning product, verveine is wonderful and has a natural beauty to it which is so fresh and lively, a character it even manages to retain as in dries down upon the skin.
This is going to be a perfect scent for summer, sure the longevity is average for this sort of fragrance but apparently verbena has natural mosquito repellent properties which could be a useful bonus.
I personally can't wait for hot weather to break this one out.

"Are you eating lemon candy?'
"Uhhh. actually no it's my perfume."

"I smell lemongrass on someone. Who is it?"
"Uhhh, actually it's Verbena."

What a refreshing scent that dies all too quickly. I love pressing the drydown to my nose; geranium and woodsy notes, just heavenly.

Would I pay such a price for something that lasts less than 20 mins? No.

millie1980

You'll need to love lemons to like this one! Somehow it manages to be quite sharp yet also rather sweet. In fact, too sweet for my liking. Personally, I prefer L'Occitane Green Tea for a burst of citrus freshness balanced with green notes.

Jene S.

Pretty, lemony scent. Very uplifting, fresh and natural. The dry down is nice because I can smell the rose geranium coming through.

However, I do get a bit bored with this scent. If I'm not in the mood for lemon fragrance, then I wouldn't go with this one. Not a lot of complexity, which I believe is L'occitane's trademark. And it needs to be re-applied several times a day. Fades fast!

pbluberry

Way sweet like lemon drops on my skin. The sweetness kinda threw me off because I was expecting an aromatic scent. I like it well enough but fades rather fast to really enjoy it (about 1/2 hr on my skin). I brought the bottle to work one time and I was afraid to over do it.

I don't get cleaning products at all because of the sweetness of it. I'm not sure what real lemon verbena smells like but I do like it, just wished it lasted a bit longer.

Kiera79

Clean, fresh, lemony. I can see why people say it smells like cleaning products, but I don't mind that. I like it, but it doesn't last very long.

melanie

Starts very fresh, almost strong lemon like, soon turns to subtil geranium. Smells clean with a lovely tender dry-down of moist fresh roses.
Reminds me of a rainy, chilly day, when the sun breaks through the clouds and raindrops give that magic freshness to all flowers around you.

I'm a huge fan of the TV series, The L Word, so when I saw one of my favourite characters, Shane, pull a bottle of this out of her bathroom cabinet, I just knew I had to try it.

L'Occitane's Verveine is the essential Summer scent for a country girl like myself. I love the scent of nature, particularly that of a citrus orchard. This fragrance comes very close to re-creating that smell.

This is a sparkling and refreshing interpretation of a lemon tree, complete with the leaves and fruit. It is olfactory heaven to my nose. I wish all lemon inspired fragrances smelt like this. Far too many of them resemble the scent of detergent rather than the scent of the natural, raw citrus.

It's a really easy scent to wear due to its simplistic composition. Both men and women could wear this, or even share a bottle between them and fully enjoy its versatility. I can't believe I've left it this late to try it. L'Occitane Verveine should have come into my life sooner.

At times, it's so fresh, lively and sweet that it reminds me of a chilled glass of lemonade. Seeming that I'm going into Summer now, there's nothing else I'd rather smell. It's so perfect, and this is coming from a girl that usually hates citrus scents.

The sillage may be soft, but the longevity is superb. It clings even better to fabric. To increase the projection, I would recommend layering Verveine with the matching lotion, shower gel and soap. I'm so glad this is one of L'Occitane's best sellers.

Every summer when the humidity climbs I go to my nearest l'Occitane store and buy a spray of the Eau de Toilette Verveine. Every time, I try the verbena variations that l'Occitane produce, but the straight verveine is what I buy. As a lot of people have pointed out, it is a fugitive pleasure, and it smells only of lemon verbena. But it does smell precisely and exactly like the potted lemon verbena on my balcony, a soft but sparkling and slightly floral lemon, and to spritz it on is as refreshing as walking through the spray of a fountain on a hot day. I think of it less of as a perfume and more as first-aid for summer. I'm sure you could happily wear it in winter, but for me this charming eau de toilette is synonymous with summer. Indispensible.

When it's 100+ degrees here in Texas, and I couldn't feel any more grimy, or stinky, I can whip my little travel sized bottle of this out of my purse, and I feel instantly showered, and fresh as a daisy. My little lemon-scented ice sword that cuts through the heat and humidity. Lol. Sure, it doesn't last all day, but not many citrus scents do. That's what my travel-size is for. I do get compliments on it well after I've gotten used to it's luscious lemony burst, which tells me it does have some staying power. The rose and geranium add a little sweetness and volume wonderfully.
I wear this year-round, but I almost have no choice during Texas summers! :)

vmzaneti

Wow, this scent couldn't be more natural. Very realistic feeling of tearing a leaf of lemon verbena and smell it, it recreates the exact scent. Totally pleasant and energetic.

If only it had lasting power...

Henriette

This is a lovely verveine scent, but you have to really like verveine as this perfume is all it's about. No other note are perceived - to my nose at least. The lasting power is very disappointing, it lasts nothing. I am aware all the fresh citrusy colognes are not very lasting (with some wonderful exceptions though, as I pointed out in some of my reviews), but this one beats them all: you spray it on your skin and the moment you put away the bottle the scent is gone. Certainly a concentrate version would do no harm.

ian85

@Saga: Maybe you can try Din Dan by Lostmarc'h...

saga

I love this perfume. But: it is very very light, I put this like 20x amount and it does not last. It lasts like 15 minutes, then it's gone. I wish to find something similar but longlasting.

smellynich

i want to smell this!! im a big fan of vampire diaries and they always mention verveine on that tv show..gosh how id love to say IM ON VERVEINE! after i put this on.

juicemaven

This one was a suprising gift. I love a good citrus scent and this one is tops with me. Tart yet sweet. Nice.

Demoiselle

I bought a bottle of this and I quite liked it, it hasn't much depth and really (like many L'Occitane scents) only gives off one sole scent, in this case sweet lemons. I don't know why people are calling it 'strong'. But it is clean and fresh like everyone says, great for a hot day where other perfumes would smother you. My friend said it reminded her of nice cough drops, which would make sense.
I ended up giving it to my Dad as he gets a lot of headaches and lemon scents seem to stop them. It works like a charm for headaches, a perfume and medicine in one!

131lo113

I know this is a really popular fragrance, but for me personally, I'd rather use this as a room or linen spray. When I apply the EDT by itself to my skin it actually smells like marijuana! The only way that I can wear this is if I layer it with another fragrance (I like the Rose 4 Reines body milk with the Verbena shower gel and EDT.) But honestly, I'd much rather pick something that can speak for itself without needing back-up.

MattAyJay

I love the scent...it smells fresh and clean throughout the day. For hot and humid climates, this scent is ideal and it will perk and freshen you up. Be somewhat careful with its application though...a few spritzes might be enough for some.

midsummer

I loved this scent at first (I always go for those fresh citrus scents). However, the fragrance went through a phase that I hadn't noticed before - a distinctly... pine-sol like aroma that didn't agree with me. I still like this one, and the pine sol didn't last long. . . but it definitely dropped the perfume off of my "want" list.

imgcas

When I spray it on my skin, I think this is the most refreshing fragrance in the world. It's citrus glory!
But a minute later I feel that my skin burns. It had never happened to me with any other perfume. It's so uncomfortable... It was supposed to be like a cold shower but instead it's like I was burning.
Anyway, I like the smell so much that I apply it on my clothes. I will finish my bottle and I won't buy it again. So bad, because I like it a lot.

Nice Sunflower

This has to be the best and purest citrus fragrance on earth.

I had the same experience as breeze-over-water, whenever I spray it on, I'm back in my grandmothers garden, sitting next to a verbena bush. Maybe you need a memory like this to enjoy it, but to me it's probably the "happiest" fragrance I own. Just bottled memories of wonderful, carefree warm summer days spent in the garden.

breeze-over-water

When I first smelled this fragrance, I was immediately transported to my childhood: my old house had a verbena bush by the back door, and from time to time I would pick the leaves and crush them to release the scent. I think this EdT is very true to the source of its inspiration.
In the bottle, the scent is somewhat overpowering. However, after it is applied, it wears very well. But be aware that on different people the character of this fragrance can vary widely. On my sister, the verbena note did not change, but on me, after some time the lemony edge I liked faded and revealed a previously undetected floral note (almost like gardenia, I thought).
The change was not offensive, but I was still disappointed that the verbena note would fade so quickly on me.
If you're considering purchasing this one, be sure to use the tester on yourself and walk around for a while before deciding.

a.k.a.warum

On a strip of paper this EDT smelled very balanced, some of lemon verbena, some of floral. I'm not sure I could consciously detect rose, one of my favorite notes, but it must have been there since I couldn't stop smelling the paper.

On my skin it's mostly lemon verbena, which I don't mind since I love verbena scent. It becomes very mild in about an hour-and-half. Now after three hours and after washing my hands (and I tried not to get my wrist!) I'm left with nothing. But if I had a bottle, I'd reapply it again. It's fresh, it's clean, it's very slightly sweet, but not too sweet, and I love verbena notes, they are perfect when you walk in the city or in the woods!

UPD.: I tried it again and loved verbena and the initial burst of lime! Yes, I smell lime rather than lemon. Again, no rose. And sadly, it smells a lot better on paper than on my skin. On my skin it turns sweet too fast. But I will try it again to be sure. I really couldn't stop smelling the paper.

RebelKnightCSA

Stinks? Naw, this is great. The lemonsmell is fresh and clean and lasts a long time. I've gotten lotsa compliments from it. If this smells like a bathroom cleaner to you, that only goes to show just how good bathroom cleaners smell nowadays.

Perfumaniac

It is indeed a strong lemony frangrance. It actually reminds me of my bathroom cleaners with the lemon scent.
Do I like that particular fresh citrus smell in my bathroom after I've cleaned my tub and it's splarkling white? - I absolutely do!
But would I want to wear a cologne that smells the same as my bathroom cleaner? - I doubt it!

L'Occitane has so many other terrific products in their line.
