White Suede by Tom Ford is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. White Suede was launched in 2009. Top notes are Thyme and Tea; middle notes are Lily-of-the-Valley, Saffron and Rose; base notes are Suede, Musk, Sandalwood, Olibanum and Amber.

In September 2009, Tom Ford presented collection White Musk Collection that contains four new fragrances: Urban Musk, White Suede, Musk Pure and Jasmin Musk. The collection is based upon the essence of musk, which is one of the favorite ingredients of Tom Ford. These fragrances are very feminine, a little bit lighter by color and by composition comparing to the previous editions.

White Suede is blended out of rose, saffron, thyme, mate tea, olibanum, lily-of-the-valley, amber, suede and sandalwood.

The first three fragrances were created in the cooperation with Givaudan perfumers, while the White Suede was composed with Firmenich. The fragrances are available in very modern and elegant bottles of 50 ml.

This is an example of a perfume I dislike. Vinyl like ‘suede’ with artificial sandalwood and a hefty dose of white musks, with some artificial lily of the valley on top. On the plus side - not a cheap smelling version of the above combination - but still falls into truly dislike category for me.

Fragrauntie

I've had the same bottle of this for 10 years, which shows how infrequently I've reached for it. Until today, that is, when I decided to spray it over the top of Carner Barcelona Cuir and discovered the alchemical formula for turning lead into gold.
On its own, White Suede is polite but unremarkable. Surprisingly generic for a suede/musk. It's never been too assertive for wearing in office environments, but it's also never been interesting enough to be worn out of them. But when layered with a true leather? Listen, I keep catching whiffs of myself, and I'm giving myself dirty ideas. Another Tom Ford that just didn't go quite far enough and could have been great.

Hifza

Tom Ford fragrances are actually minimal and this one is definitely a simple and a warm scent. It's very casual and a go-to fragrance like one can wear any day any where at any time. Perfect for college, work, travelling and a wedding too, it engages with every body chemistry. This blend is an amazing one for sure!

Lolapoop

If someone wants to smell office friendly and just nice but with a twist ,this one is perfect for it.

Alive

Current formulation is now a mere ghost of what it used to be several years ago.

jarenceee

There’s some strange similarity with Verace Chrystal noir

Vickyoli

I love Tom Ford perfumes that have leather. So I was expecting to feel the suede on this one but I can’t feel it. It reminded me a cheap purple baby cologne that pharmacies sell in my country. It is not bad, but not something you expect from Tom Ford.

natk

Appalling performance. Just terrible. Same batch (B12) as the reviewer's below. If I'm paying close to $500 (for 100ml) then I expect the fragrance to last more than 15 minutes and project at least a little bit. I like "polite" fragrances with a small scent bubble, I don't want huge sillage, but this is simply unacceptable.

If anyone knows another 'suede+musk' worth trying - please share here or pm me.

Dumbplings

Not a scent for the young women, takes a particular woman to pull this off but if she can pull it off then yes it's pretty sexy to a man. Musky, leathery, floral but if the right woman isn't wearing it then it may smell like an old lady. You need the right woman to draw the visual connection to so you aren't reminded of your grandmother

ADNisHere

Oh my God, this perfume has become very weak and I always ignore talking about longevity and sillage because they are secondary things, but I remember very well that this perfume was as strong as Tuscan Lather in the past and I could wear it alone, but now I feel that it is very soft and lacking in depth, and does not act that it is an Eau de Parfum.
If you used to love white suede original formula you gonna be shocked with the new batches, I bought my bottle from Heathrow Airport and the patch is B12.

Radknight

White floral soap/baby wipes with a bit of musk and a touch of smoke hiding in there. Reminiscent of the flower-shaped soap balls that my grandmother kept in a crystal bowl in her bathroom that were for decoration only and NOT to be used especially by curious and bored pre-teen boys. Leans more feminine than masculine. The only way I can see this as unisex is if you layered it with TF Ombre Leather.

TheEmpress

I am a lover of soapy fragrances. I obtained a sample of TF White Suede. I tried it just before bed and was so impressed with soapiness. The dry down came quick and then it was gone. The next morning I spritz more of the sample and became nauseated by the sharp artificial soap. Still looking for a signature soapy scent.

MomBomb

Too mature for me. Bottle up for trade.

josenajas

Some reviews here are so misleading. Animalique has nothing similar to White suede by Tom Ford. Very different. Not unique, but very nice. Sweet scent.

Suelll

I finally tested this and couldn’t for the life of me figure out why it smelled so familiar until just now. Yes yes it’s powdery and musky etc. but I couldn’t let go to fully appreciate white suede for what it is because it smells like something in my perfume storage container . Due to lack of cupboard space, I transferred all my less used bottles which are SIB to a big container. Guess what, every time I open the container it smells like white suede because in it is where I also keep my NR for him EDT and EDP. So for me white suede=waft of NR for him. The similarity becomes more apparent as the top and middle notes of white suede lose intensity.

Honeyes

I’m really confused, where does THAT ashtray smell come from? It could be a great perfume but those ashtray notes ruin it!

AquaRegia

Tom Ford's White Suede embodies the essence of suede leather and white musk, an artful fusion captured in a fragrance. It effortlessly balances sophistication and casual charm, making it an ideal choice for the office. Its notes weave a tale: thyme and tea in the top, lily-of-the-valley, saffron, and rose in the heart, and a foundation of suede, musk, sandalwood, olibanum, and amber.

Though marketed for women, its allure is equally inviting to both genders. Subtle and elegant, it's a masterpiece in minimalism that exudes professionalism. A dual nature emerges as it harmonizes cleanliness and freshness with warmth and coziness.

White Suede is like a mirror image of another iconic Tom Ford fragrance, Fucking Fabulous. The former, innocent and pure, grew up to become the enigmatic FF. If you're captivated by the darker charm of FF, White Suede's tender elegance will sweep you off your feet.

cyclone1391

Damn. Literally the involuntary out loud response I had to this fragrance upon opening it. My only complaint is that I wish it had a larger scent bubble. This smells like ambition, made me a bit emotional actually. Wearing this and studying for my master's degree. Like I'm finally becoming the woman I always thought I would be as a child but then thought was unattainable as "real life" set in. This fragrance motivates me to be better. Clean, but not aldehydic, leather but not animalic. Not just "your skin but better," but your skin as your best self.

Update: I live rurally and have an infant. Local Walmart was out of baby wipes so I got equate flushable wipes instead and they are a dupe of this 😂 still smells great but now the association is burned in my mind. This is why I always get a travel size before full bottle.

LostSock

Someone gave me a 100ml bottle of this as they didn't like it (neither do I truth be told, it'll be one I pass on myself soon.)

Does anyone know why the bottle I have is in a black bottle like a load of TF, yet whenever I see this stuff for sale it's in a clear one? Batch code A76.

amudrechenko

It's beautiful and musky! I agree with the reviewers that it's a very soft and warm kind of musk. I do not detect any incense or ash-tray like notes. The perfume is not strong either. It's very airy and light to me. I mostly detect leather and musk, but I fail to detect much of the florals. I actually prefer that as I am not a fan of the lily, it's a bit too floral for me usually.

Schmellin_Good

Like the person below me, I picked up a 50ml for $125 from the Cosmetics Company Store. Great deal.

Really clean, silky suede & musk. This is a "your skin but better" fragrance executed flawlessly.

For what it is, 9/10 for me

greg.3

Picked up Tom Ford White Suede from my local Cosmetic Company Store at the local outlets yesterday, and have been wearing it today. Unlike some of the other reviews this year on Fragrantica, I do not pick up very much suede/leather in this. Opening is very strong of perfumer's alcohol, then settles down after 60 seconds to a white floral and tea scent. I think I smelled a bit of citrus accord in there, but I don't see any citrus listed -- either way, the sweetness in the opening is short-lived. Performance is fair, but not great. I put two close sprays on my inner arm around 10am this morning, and now at 5pm it's a very light skin scent. I'd say 4-6 hours of usable performance, and it will be completely gone by 8.

If you are interested in this, check your local Cosmetic Company Store (an Estee Lauder owned outlet) and see if they have some in stock. Everything Tom Ford is 50% off, and yesterday they had an extra 15% off on top of that. My $295 retail 50ml bottle ended up costing $125.35 + tax. Lot on my bottle is A92.

silthrill

Sexy ashtray vibes. This is one of those fragrances that I shouldn't like but I actually love, and that make me question what happened in my formative years to cause me to like this. It's a little smokey, a little leathery, a little powdery, a little musky. This is a more feminine version of F*cking Fabulous, but still unisex. It's for when you want to smell clean and dirty at the same time. Wholesome people won't like this. If you had a dysfunctional childhood then it's a 10/10. Full bottle worthy.

Erincess

Wow strong leather… I dont know about green and aromatic but tiny musk and powdery anyhow comes at very last.

Stimul

Very, very first spray - ashtray. I wonder why ashtray was not listed in the pyramid.
But a fatcat ashtray - fortune lodge ashtray.

I like it though. Ashtray you envy and want to be a part of.

This is a very positive review!
I actually wear this with pleasure mid summer hot weather. Yes, wet wipes in best possible meaning. On my skin this perfume is something I could always wear - I feel myself clean and good smelling.

I also find it very versatile - Sunday mood, sporty spirit, lover hugs, motherhood hustle, let's talk serious business, office speed - it suits it all.

Dumbplings

Closest fragrance to this is lady white snake by stephanie humbert lucas....however that one is more feminine and floral, this one leans more musky/powdery/leathery so I prefer this one. I think this is just better version of lady white snake

benkim

I really really really wanted to like this. 6 different occasions I wore and scrubbed off soon after, I've come to conclude that certain synthetic musk does not sit well with me. To me, this is a bipolar fragrance - components of "clean" and "dirty/tarry", which soon overcomes the cleanliness and burns down the whole composition. Awesome projection however, I will give the credit for that.

Xela_529

There's something so nostalgic about White Suede. She smells reminiscent of my grandmother's laundry room. Very clean, fresh, and slightly floral. She definitely takes some time to get used to, but once you settle in her skin she's pretty nice. Definitely not a perfume to wear if you want to draw in attention and compliments. It's more of a relaxing scent for you to enmesh in her glory. Definitely a great take on musk. I think she's perfect for the fall, winter, & early spring.

MadameMerola

Oh well, I knew I was soon going to get a huge miss with my blind buys. This is one scent I just can’t get into, no matter how much I try. It just doesn’t enthrall my senses and it doesn’t have a nice balance with my skin chemistry. I guess it is the thyme. Love it in my food, hate it on my skin. Thankfully, I didn’t splurge on a full bottle otherwise I would have cried my eyes out. Tobacco Vanille remains my favourite from TF. White Suede and Neroli Portofino are in my never ever list. For those who love it, I am happy it works for you. I am just one of the people that can’t. I always have to layer it something else because I can’t bear the smell for more than 30 minutes when I wear it alone.

LaContessina

Very subdued, powdery clean musk; has a strange note that seems quite smokey to my nose, but is could be also the thyme (that has a strong, almost medicinal-burnt note).
Smells clean and dirty at the same time. Intrigued but not sold on it.
The big no for me is the sillage (non existent) and the longevity( non existent, after 10 minutes I have nothing on my skin).
Almost interesting fragrance but a no-go for me, due to the exorbitant price and the low performance.

Seth-04

I love this but do not blind buy it’s very unique and some people might hate it

mae.si

I really, REALLY wanted to love this. T_T

However, on my skin this smelled like old, dusty car smell - the kind with those greige felted seats, and fuzzy, cigarette stained carpets.

I love leather scents and tea scents, but did not get either from this. It’s such a well regarded fragrance, so maybe it’s just my skin chemistry!

Blind bought and wore for 2 days, and promptly returned.

Ferra_Verto

Soapy & aromatic white florals becomes a musky & slightly creamy suede. Very clean and very polished, feels like a grown up Jovan White Musk.
Can be enjoyed all year round save the dead of summer.
Lasts around 6 hrs, fairly moderate sillage.

aliyuh0604

This smells very clean and a bit leathery. Kinda smells like soap. This smells better over time rather than right when you spray it. its pretty good for the daytime.

paulinalto

My signature perfume, for me it smells like clean skin, like a good memory. Just very clean fragnance, I don’t think people would assume you are wearing one upon smelling. Which is a lovely thing for some but for the price.. Lasts a while on me too.

Msc1977

This to me, is Tuscan leather, without the isobutyl quinoline note. ( The gasoline leather note)
And rose instead of jasmine and no raspberry or vanilla.
Very heavy with Lily of the valley type materials which make it soft and soapy. And a lot of different white musks to make it almost metallic, but soft and clean.
Unisex for sure.

derby2169

Unexpectedly hairspray-like suede with musk compounds. It gets quite powdery soon with a clear cosmetic element to it. Unapologetic in its industrial smelling suede note, think new soft leather shoes.

Because of the aforementioned association I imagine a wealthy woman in her 40s with mask-type sunglasses wearing a long coat being able to really pull this off. Ultimately not something I would care for if I smelled on the opposite sex and certainly not something I could wear.

Dania67

Pure Blanca and a little Noa, another drop of My Glow in an expensive bottle. I took it blind and it was not worth it.

LittleMissYellow

I haven't worn it yet as it was a anniversary gift bought yesterday 🤣 I've smelled it on numerous occasions though and everytime I'm just taken away by it's simple yet intriguing scent. I LOVE the suede note - very warm and inviting from the beginning .. but maybe not for the faint of noses. The tea note mixed with musk gives a clean and refined aura and the amber gives it this creamy... Cosy atmosphere. I feel that this can be worn in many different occasions. I already love it!!!

MelissaKS

I’ve been wearing this fragrance more since the beginning of spring and I’m really enjoying it. I like the suede note more than I expected to. It starts off powdery, musky, and lightly floral plus suede. It dries into a sandalwood and amber scent later on. It’s definitely my style right now (I’m really into musky, powdery, and overall clean scents).

The dry down, especially after a couple of hours, smells similar to Missing Person on my skin. I’m gonna spray them on different arms and see how close they are on the dry down.

Pulp

This puts me in a super chill mood. I love to wear this at night and drink a tea, read a book or something and just relax.
This is basically a skin scent and it's great for intimate moment in bed, and yes the projection is weak but the longevity on my skin is really good.

Latetothescene

Opening 10/10. Creamy white musky suède. OMG ..want a bottle. This is what i was looking for!
Drydown on skin... Screechy nineties perfume. A scrubber. Nose was in agony. And this was before I read the reviews. Noa? Haven't smelled that one since i was a teen but i believe you. So sad. The hunt continues. I'll just spray soleil neige bodyspray on dior homme intense to satify my hunt for a creamy suède lipsticky white florals frag and sigh some more. So close!

Edit: The drydown on a blotter smells like babywipes tmn. Not impressed. Tested three times.

rednose

Refined musk. Well balanced skin scent for those who love mellow projection.

Soozatska

I purchased a sample of White Suede because so many Fragranticans endorsed it as being a dupe for Noa. Just adding an asterisk in this review that it is definitely the *reformulated* Noa that it smells like- not the ethereal musk of the original Noa.

Vintila R.

Don't ask me why but this is one of my favourite musks. I was surprised how much I liked it when I first discovered it. I was expecting a typical heavy floral musk but it's not. I can smell the soft suede right from the opening, which also offers an aromatic quality provided by the tea and thyme, it is fresh; the flowers are subtle and play a second role. The musk is in the background but it has a presence. It dries down as a soft and cosy skin scent/musk that can be sprayed before bed to feel relaxed but it can also turn sexy as I sweat. It is not powdery or creamy but it has texture. The suede note remains there as a silent note. It doesn't have an excellent projection, it lasts about 4 hours on my skin. I find it intimate. I get the lack of interest in this fragrance (it is a pricey musk after all) but it works for me.

Edit: I still find it addictive but it's hard to wear this outside. I have to feel "well dressed" to pull this off; otherwise, I feel a bit anachronic. The funny thing is that I want to wear it mostly when I'm feeling cosy at home, with my oversized turtle neck sweater (and someone to hug). I just wanted to confirm how intimate I find it. Btw: "Wholesome people won't like this. If you had a dysfunctional childhood then it's a 10/10. Full bottle worthy". That reviewer just nailed it!

MatchaCat

This is basically a white musk smell with subtle white florals in the background and a slight leather note. I don't get any powder from this. Just a very clean white musk, like those Egyptian musk perfume oils. The leather note is a bit sharp. If it were creamier, this would be a 10/10 perfume. However, it is still a very likable scent. It's not very strong but does last a long while on the skin. To my nose, this leans slightly more feminine due to the white florals in the background.

Smell: 9 out of 10
Longevity: 9 out of 10

For reference, I'm female.

Enrium

I have been wearing Cacharel Noa as a casual weekend scent recently, and when I smelled White Suede initially, that's what immediately came to mind. Like Noa, WS is a fresh, clean white musk scent with soft floral nuances. Subtle and inoffensive, it is very easy-to-wear, but is perhaps slightly overpriced in my opinion, despite its excellent composition.

Musky from initial spray, WS is clean and bright. There is a herbal greenness to the opening too, adding freshness. I get some lily-of-the-valley here, paving the way to the florals.

As it develops, some powdery rose emerges, marrying nicely with the musk to form that classic musky-rose accord. The amber base develops smoothly in the background, warm and slightly animalic, which alongside the musk, gives an authentic suede-like effect. Soft woody notes round it out as it dries down. It fades to a musky suede skin scent, smooth and satisfying. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

An elegant, understated unisex everyday scent, WS is an easy reach and very versatile - a true year-round scent. A more upmarket, elevated Noa, featuring an unusually subtle, feminine take on a leather drydown. 4/5.

iksir

This is everything I ever wanted to smell like! So refined.

寶寶味。好聞但有粉味。不是我喜歡的味道。

Comrade Zagoryanskaya

Noa meets Ombre Leather. Both - my all-time favourites: Noa for its’ sheer diffusive sweetness, softness and femininity, OL for its’ sharpness and bold yet refined unisex power statement; both - for immaculate quality. So being a huge fan of both I almost bought a FB of White Suede just after one test from a blotter, but given the price had enough willpower to order a sample first and wear it a few times. I can very much feel and describe separate notes from both of the above mentioned perfumes but brought together they somehow neutralise each other. I don’t know whether these don’t mix well per se or just this very composition hasn’t been assembled properly (read: to my taste)) but unfortunately for me the magic in this is not doubled but gone and the overall composition feels somewhat dull and yes (cudos to @itsmellslikerain below for finding the right word) - stale.

itsmellslikerain

From my 2015 bottle:

The opening is reminiscent of a stale motel room. You’ve just finished taking a shower with a “rose” scented scrub. After putting on a fresh white cotton T, and some jeans on, you dab the body shop’s white musc on your pulse points. You finish getting ready for the bright new day, ready to leave the shitty room behind. Not realizing the scent of stale cigarettes is still clinging to your hair…

Bob Cage

10/10. Soft. Unisex.

alit

Luxurious cosmetic wet wipes. And I mean that as a compliment. Clean, fresh, perfume-y wipes. As it dries down you get that brand-new-suede scent, slightly musky and very comforting. Overall a clean, contained, grown up and well behaved fragrance best fit for a day wear.

httrung32

I smelt this scent from a Tom Ford Candle in a gentlemen’s lounge, a sweet flowery musk and soft creamy white leather scent. It just clicked on me, it is like a nice-smelling classy guy/girl sitting on a luxurious white italian leather sofa. I am typically not into leather fragrances esp the strong bitter leather scents but the leather note in here is so smooth, classy, softly elegant, and totally unisex imo. When I smell the candle, I just knew that I have to get this fragrance soon, and wear it to work. 🤭

violeteme

Beautiful softness. It truly smells similar to Noa, Noa might be just a bit more floral. But I only could tell minuscule differences if I had them both in front of me. Alone they even could be non-distinguishable. I also get similarity to Wisteria Hysteria. Pure, calm, subtle scent. Smells powdery, soapy and floral. Suede just adds some velvety texture.

Crazyups12

I literally hated this scent when I first had a 5ml decant……reminded me of my grandma’s home growing up. She always smelled good but smoked. I swear this thing smells like a smoker’s clothing at times but damn…..I have put more of a dent in this fragrance over the last 24 months than I have any other scent in my collection.

Luna_503

I own TL and OL, as well as an few other leather centric fragrances, this is nothing like them. Very much a baby powder old lady musk.

Aarix

What's denoted as tea and thyme in the top notes produce an unpleasant "CIGARETTE ASH!" accord on my skin (maybe *discord* is more the word 🤔), but thankfully that dies down eventually. Unthankfully the drydown smells like. Um. Well these are some very cloying powdery florals, and this is a very sexy kind of musk. I am presented with the vivid image of hooking up on a leather sofa with an upper-middleclass chainsmoking grandma. I mean--get it, granny!! but I don't really want to smell like this :(

Edit: presented this to a non-fumehead friend with zero preamble (I like to let people have a look thru my collection of small decants) and it didn't smell like ash on her, though it remained just as stuffy. She was like "wow this smells like my grandparent's place :/" ...And apparently her mother even agreed.

DGpourHommeMN

I am a man and I do enjoy wearing this. This is perfectly unisex scent. When I tested this at first, I immediately thought it is a lighter version of Ombre Leather. If you enjoy OL, most likely you will enjoy this as well. I don't get any grandma feel from this. It's maybe because I didn't have luxurious grandma??

poohbearwinnie

Imagine a mob wife wearing a fur or suede coat standing outside a bar smoking a cigarette that's mixing with her clean fragrance as her husband is doing business, if you know what I mean. That's the best way I'd describe it, it's a classy lady decked out in the best clothes but she has an don't mess with me edge

Lolapoop

I had tried it on the airport ,among dozens of others and all I could detect was this delicate flowery-soapy Cacharel Noa . I even thought to myself that this one is unusually normal for TF . So I ordered 100ml ., I opened it just now and there it is-SUEDE . It's stunning imo . I mean Im a kind of person who finds Dzing! lovelly and acceptable,so no biggie with flowery White Suede ,but I recommend to invest in big bottle after some consideration;).

Bonjourlefleur

This is different to my usual floral preferences but I absolutely love it! Since I bought this I've worn nothing else! This definitely smells unisex to me and isn't a crowd pleasing attention grabber, it's better than that! It just smells like you, it's natural and animalic but also clean and powdery with a slight hint of soapiness. Definitely my new signature. I haven't smelt this on anybody on yet I somehow feel like this is familiar to me. I'm not sure what it reminds me of I just adore it

dcjimr

I suggest testing this one first. Immediately after I sprayed it I absolutely loved it. On the ride home I started getting a hint of gasoline/petrol, which I did not enjoy. How your nose reacts to this (positively or negatively...see the many lovely reviews below) will probably determine whether it succeeds for you.

rainingroses

I'm glad I tried this scent without reading the reviews first, because of how polarizing they are, oh, and I really don't like the 'new car' kind of smells, either. So that, admittedly, would have put me off trying it.

To me, this smells very comforting. White Suede is like a hug in a bottle. It stays very close, the sillage isn't great, but that's fine because I wear it for me. It's so soft and skin-like...on me, the suede, musk and lily of the valley are the most prominent notes. Lily of the valley can sometimes smell really sharp and shrill on me, but in this fragrance it's tempered by the other notes and is much softer, although noticeably there. Later in the day, I get more sandalwood and less lily of the valley, but the suede and musk remains. To me, it's not a squaky clean musk scent, it's slightly more primal, dirtier, while at the same time being comforting and soothing. This is absolutely glorious, definitely my favorite musk scent, probably in my top 5 overall. A must have!

adddddac

This baby smells like a brand new expensive car when you first sit on the leather seats, all matte and soft and squeaky clean. The thyme and tea notes give it a fresh and airy start, while the musk and suede at the base hide a very sexy and dirty allure. It's such an understaded but highly refined scent that I feel could work perfectly for both men and women!! So so classy

Pilikins

On me this opens with a very strong gasoline smell which gradually diminishes but I feel it’s presence all the way through. I suspect this is what smells like suede to some and burned leather to others, but I get petrochemicals. The lily of the valley and musk are there too which is just odd. I think the musky accord is odd too. It is deceptive because there are the clean florals, but it is also indolic which makes it dirty. So all in all, it’s a good idea to test this first as you may be disappointed if you are expecting a clean musky perfume .

Cherry_Darling

Aaw I had high expetations of this as the sprayer of my sample smelled delicious, musky, powdery, unique, clean. But then i sprayed this on myself. Leather, rubber, smoke, someone described it really well few reviews below - you take some fake leather boots, put it in the microwave, starts burning, that's how this smells. Masculine, but not in a nice way. In fact it kind of smells like a charity shop. Old leather, cigarette smoke. Yes definitely smells like a smoker's clothing.

AlinkaSun

This is a really good option for a day time or office setting. Non offensive, not loud but yet interesting and quite different. Suede and lily are dominating notes and they go very well together. This perfume definitely smells clean, elegant and expensive. It does not project far which can be beneficial in an office settings. But I can definitely smell it on me for a good 3-4 hours.

AyeDeeBee

Wrap new pair of leather boots in plastic, put them in the microwave, and take them out right before they start smoking. That’s what this smells like to me.

Trishaaa

It starts out with a baby powder smell, but on the dry down it turns into a more pleasant suede with musk with some white florals, but it was hard to tell what florals they were without looking at the note list.

I weirdly get a small reminder of Tuscan Leather which is probably the suede note but I view this one more appropriate for both genders in comparison. It's well balanced and it feels quite special and super comforting as well. I've grown to really like this one actually, I recommend giving it a try if you like Soleil Blanc, Tuscan Leather or Tubéreuse Nue even.

Bopha85

My first reference for frangances is anything creamy. THIS is the ULTIMATE creamy scent for me.

I was very surprised how much I love White Suede. This the best Sandalwood/musk in my collection. The opening starts off kinda harsh but within 30mins the fragrance settles into fresh, musky, woodsy clean scent for any day occasions.

adelaidesandrina

Goddamn this smells amazing. Like a new car 🫥

The Wolf

First impression on tester: I couldn't smell it.
Second and 3rd impressions on skin and I can smell it now.
I can smell the jasmine and saffron on a base of suede musk.

Ethereal white musk on an ultra clean suede. Doesn't leap of my skin (or stick to it unfortunately), even when over spraying. Feels like the anti perfume genre of scents. Super safe and office friendly. Bought a 100ml and sold it a month later because I got tired of it quickly. There's better musks and suede scents out there.

Scent 7/10
Performance 5/10

TheLB

Expensive baby powder? I really don’t like this to the point where I don’t mind it? Did that make any sense? It smells old lady shower fresh. So not offensive but definitely not something I will be going for often. It feels heavy on the skin.

trins777

This is a weird one. Blind bought this and regret it. By the notes and reviews thought I would enjoy but this is nothing like other tom fords to me.
I just can't seem to get over the opening spray of a soapy almost acidic smell, smells like my grandmas closet, very powdery. Almost makes me sick just thinking about it. Once it settles on the skin I get the floral notes but once again I am disappointed by the longevity, after a few hours can't seem to smell it even directly on my skin.
Not my cup of tea, I guess this is what I get for stepping out of my comfort zone with a perfume.

trabuquera

Bright, soapy, preppy, squeaky-clean fresh suede: far lighter and more floral than other TF variations on the theme of leather, and not quite as special as it thinks it is. Think of it as a slightly over-privileged heritage applicant to the scent Ivy Leagues: it absolutely qualifies and is at home in the high-class environment - but may not have the true originality and character to forge ahead and rule the world by right.

Extraordinarily bright, big and fresh-from-the-shower at first, as it emerges seemingly shaking lather from its hair and splattering herbal, outdoorsy, top-of-the-morning vibes from the thyme and lily-of-the-valley - pretty femme and far, far more floral than I expected during this first half hour. (Is there unmentioned osmanthus in there too? Because it seems to lurk in the mix, very prettily too.) So at first, although it radiates pretty strongly - a bossy projecting burst across the room - this may seem not as billed at all. Where actually IS the promised suede?

I tend to go for darker, spicier, more mature leathers, so perhaps it's unsurprising this opening flowerburst seemed a bit over-confident to me. But within the half hour, its animal spirit rises and the gentle, powdery funk of very finely-tanned soft leather swells up, coolly and classily: no reek of the barnyard or the garage, just whispery-velvety kid suede melding impeccably with the flowers and musk to form into a sleek, manicured, intensely civilised aura of prosperity and ease. As it fades and mellows, the suede really emerges as the deceptively soft backbone of the whole thing, modulating back and forth between leathery and powdery, getting more and more delicate (and to my nose more and more lovely) as it recedes, hanging on up to 6-7 hours on skin with far more enduring presence (days and days) on fabric. (A rare thing for me to enjoy a quieter, mellower drydown of a scent more than the start: usually the interesting stuff happens first, but not so here.)

Bigger and a bit more brash, White Leather echoes (and amplifies) Hermessence Cuir d'Ange, but far louder and blinged-up: if CdA is an adorable innocent fluffy lamb, then TFWS might be a spirited but slightly ridiculous mini pedigree show pony. There's perceptible quality - but is it really different enough from Evody's very respectable Cuir Blanc, almost a smellalike, to justify the steep price point? As with full Harvard tuition costs ... only your wealth level can make the decision. If you can afford it, it's worth it; but if you can't, there are several just-as-good things around for far far less.

It's a truly polished performer and so pleasant to spend time with. Controlled enough to work in most settings, on both genders, in many sorts of weather. Absolutely nothing here to offend - there is none of the shock value of Knize Ten's greasy garagehand or Cuir Mauresque's crazy-boozy spicing. It impeccably ticks so many boxes - almost offhand, so smoothly and easily - and perhaps that's precisely why it doesn't quite make my heart sing. Is it trying hard enough? Maybe it's just a little too ... glib? ... for its own good - slightly assuming that it's more than good enough for anyone, including YOU, and coasting a little on that. But for soft-suede fans it will be a silky, sensuous delight.

inkhorus

Very clean post-laundry and spa skin scent. I guess a prohibitive price for a prohibitive skin?

Ksj_

The word “posh” comes to mind for this one. It’s pleasant enough. Although, it has terrible performance.

the_chandler

No hesitations, this is a unisex fragrance. Clean, and mega powdery. Leather, musk and a light, classy bouquet. Like getting to third base on the way to a nice restaurant while driving in a 1986 Ferrari Testerosa.

pinkstate

IMO it's like an elegant powdery rose soap mixed with suede. The musk in the dry down is beautiful. Sillage is pretty good. I would rate it 8/10

ssss4ssss

I tried this at the mall not expecting much since there's not much hype around it .... but wow! I love it, and it will definitely be my next purchase. So elegant and clean, not super feminine but not masculine either. Perfect daytime/classy brunch/ dressy summer night scent to me.

Aehimen

This is baby powder through and through. Got it for a decent price and so happy i didnt spend a ton of money. I would only wear this to sleep/around the house.

espoj

Greatest smell ever. period!!!

The sexiest, cleanest, sensual smell ever created.

Arwaiq

Clean fragrance , love it 😍

aqua76239

this is an odd scent to me-i thought I would like it based on notes but it smells like a suede coat. No, really. All this "delicate musk and florals" that people talk about-all that is overpowered by very loud suede note. Its kind of like what you imagine your mom's suede jacket smells it, with hint of floral perfume that she wears, suede and skin. If you are into those types of scents, more power to you but its a total fail for me

sisina96rv

Love at first sniff 😍

If you are like me who has love-hate relationship with a leather note & love-hate relationship with Tom Ford fragrances, give this a try! Everything is so delicately blended into one wonderful smell that I am shook myself. I was very hesitant to smell this giving the name, but oh, boy! This is not the leather note in Tuscan Leather! Thanks God 🙏. This is... 📝 well, I can't even describe it, it is so well blended that I can't pick up the individual notes! The overall feeling is utterly feminine, elegant with some fresh air, slightly sweet and floral. There is something incredibly familiar to me in the later stages.... like I have smelled something similar on my Mum when I was a kid. It doesn't mean that it is old fashioned! On the contrary! I remember a lot of pleasant smells from 80s that the modern perfumery neglects!‼️ For its own shame! They pour hundreds of similar smells which often smell "cheap". And boring and not innovative 👎

For me, White Suede is a masterpiece, easily wearable for every season and occasion 👏👏👏

la vie en nose

In the dry down this is A LOT like Lacoste Pour Femme (classic version).
YOU'RE WELCOME.

gemma_ni

After all, "suede" here can be traced back to synthetic molecules. But how come the molecules in this transparent liquid mimic the velvety and luxurious feeling of suede?

90% of the scent profile is clean and musky. Some may argue, white musk is probably one of the most boring offers and low-hanging fruits on the market. I think White Suede is like a high-end camera. It takes photos and videos as any ordinary cameras do. But the 10% advancement makes a huge difference in quality.

Saffron and tea might be the 10%. They give the scent profile a slight bitterness. The market is oversaturated with sweet perfumes and I almost forget how refreshing and "healthy" bitter notes smell like.

Kimberly917

The herbal notes in this perfume ruin it for me. They are most likely added to lift the fragrance off the skin but it triggers the wrong sort of olfactory sensations for me. I get something akin to a hint of insect repellent. Of course, it is not and I know it is a highly respected perfume. The musk is creamy and encapsulated in a suede flacon. The amber adds a slight warmth and the floral is subtle and pretty. If the herbal notes weren’t so off-putting for me, I would like this more because the musk note is beautiful. All Tom Ford’s are $$$$ and I only have so many doll hairs for $$$$ perfumes. I will need to find a great discount on this one to compel me to add it to my collection but even then I'm not sure I would. I much prefer Chanel's Les Exclusifs Cuir de Russie for my go to leather and Chanel's Les Exclusifs 1957 for the musk.

evarosa

Nice clean fragrance. Rose soap, suede. Dries down a bit sour and woody. I would never buy this because I think Hermes Caleche does this so much better and is less expensive.

suzanne.4

Dirty like a leather ashtray. Big no from me. Also, surprisingly unisex for a fragrance marketed to women.

Hojoko46584

Sexy yet squeaky clean. It’s nothing new but it just smells classy and fresh. For some of the Chanel perfume, I wear them interchangeable with dupes and I can’t tell the difference. But for this, I can always tell if it’s the real deal. There’s just something different about it. I always wear it when I feel sluggish. It’s great to layer with other perfume as well. Performance is 4-6 hours on me.

MyMuse

On me, this is a soft Earl Grey scent, with musky undertones. As it settles, I get a sense of light florals—a velvety violet, rather than rose. With just the faintest hint of sandalwood. Overall, this fragrance is very neutral, almost delicate, and as comfortable and cozy as easing into a well-worn suede jacket. If I close my eyes, I can see myself sipping tea flavored with milk whilst wearing kid gloves on a breezy San Francisco afternoon. Lovely for cooler seasons.

Update: in cooler months it’s been reminding me of another fantastic scent—Gaultier’s Fleur Du Male, though White Suede is softer, a bit more powdery and stays closer to skin.

Montourage

I received this in a sample set I spent about $400 on. I should have researched the fragrances in it more closely because half the fragrances lean unisex to feminine and thus I don't feel like I can pull them off. So I gave this one to my GF to keep at her place and I'm wearing it now because it is the only unisexish fragrance she has as my earlier application of PDM wore off and I like to smell something nice all day.

It's a beautiful scent but I'm only wearing it because it was this or nothing at all. I wouldn't think to wear this out and about as it's just not my style although I do own a full bottle of Tom Ford's Black Orchid so I am open to some unisex fragrances. However for this one in particular I'd prefer to smell it on a woman than myself. This why I gifted it.

cp4044404

Kind of gives off grandma's house vibes to an extent but that goes away after the first 15 minutes. It's clean and powdery but is of so slightly animalic... not in a bad or off-putting way though. This really projects off my skin and I struggle to reach for it when it's warmer than 50*F but it's great for winter when it has space to project.

tovasignature

I sniffed this and immediately a memory from childhood came back. My great-grandmother's things were being cleared out and among a treasure trove of old Avon's there was Tigress with its faux fur cap! I remember that smell to this day. I merely dabbed and it stayed with me for what seemed like days. TF White Suede smells to my nose exactly the same. Its nice but toooo retro for my tastes. Like Tigress a little goes a long way.

strongerwithglue

I typically like scents with some sweetness, and this one is slightly bitter, so I didn't expect it to grow on me so immensely. It does vaguely smell like cigarettes in the opening, which I do not like. But it develops after 10-20 minutes, and I adore it so so much. It is more of a soft musky floral mixed with a sharp earthiness. They balance each other out. The aromatics combine to give a slightly bitter yet cozy clean scent. It's pretty fresh and uplifting. When it has really dried down, after about 4 hours and the sharp earthy vibe has faded, the sweet amber finishes the fragrance strongly. It's unique but also easy to enjoy, white t-shirt clean with a touch of bitter, a mood booster. One of my favorites from Tom Ford, just excellent.

MHak

Reminds me of a good Suede Jacket in deep winter vibes in a jazz club

ckorp8

Blind bought this because of lily of the valley mid note of this perfume. BUT unfortunately I smell almost nothing out of my bottle and had to visit the store to compare it with the store sample to make sure mine wasn’t defective or anything. Turns out that scents are very light and almost imperceivable by me. Alas. The PA said that some other customers also have similar opinion that it’s rather weak.

Edit. Revisiting this after well over two years and a quite a bit of amateur nose training, I am now able to detect the scent better and it’s a soft musky suede scent. Nice

Natashaestelle

Oh gosh, I instantly fell in love with this perfume, and loved it even more when I tested it on my skin. It’s a dirty, animalic white musk that blends with your natural scent of the skin, and it’s so leathery that it really smells like your own skin but way better. This is never going to be an offensive perfume at its worst. It smells very familiar yet very pleasant at the same time. It has a moderate sillage and perhaps doesn’t really leave much trail, but it does give you a very effortless attractiveness, a je ne sais quoi sort of quality.

nahmpunch

It smells clean and dirty at the same time.
Light and pleasant. But it’s not for me.

lmwimsatt

Wow I didnt expect to like this as it's not my usual style, but this was done quite well.

Oreo2

Only Tom Ford could make a fragrance that smells so clean and so dirty at the same time. My Venus in Virgo is drawn to “White Suede”.

cologneblanche

Oh I used to think this was a clean musk but I tried my bottle on a fresh Sunday morning and realised how incredibly ‘dirty’ the musk is! It definitely has this underlying carnal animalic note behind the powder... I suppose it’s what makes this a Tom Ford.

Perrywinkle

As someone who's obsessed with white musk and suede this is unreal. I keep it in the same spot as Byredo Blanche and Serge Clair de Musc. I love them all and use them to have a "out of the shower" fresh washed linen feel.
I just saw an add for 'The Oodie' and it makes me feel as comfortable as one of those :)

ingeneuxo

-From a distance. this reminds me of Mimosa Indigo by Atelier Cologne.
-Pleasant, clean scent.
-Suits males in their late 20s~ early 40s.
-I can see this being a signature scent for someone who fits the wearer profile. (-)

blossomka

9/10. Quite pleasant first 5 minutes citrus spice. Then disappears and reappears with suede. The spice is expansive and musky. A little sweet. Warm. Familiar. Very well blended. Slightly agitated, not completely relaxing. After 30 mins higher floating florals.

Kirkdonn

A beautiful suede jacket. That's it for me. No progression at all. But I'm hooked. It smells a tad synthetic on my skin, yet sometimes, strangely, I want that. Haven't smelled anything comparable to this. Great for the office in fall or spring. (As if anyone goes to an office any more.)

KhaleesiDany

Been using this for a few weeks now and for my skin I mostly get a soft clean musk and suede. I didn’t like the first try because I was taken aback by the ashtray-y note but this was fleeting. It dries so beautifully that I’ve made it my signature scent.

I feel a graceful powerfulness when I wear this, it really is an elegant scent. I like it better on cooler days so let’s see how it will come out during the summer.

Chaerinia

This smells like a department store air freshener to me. It isn't unpleasant by any means but for the price tag I get to smell like I walked out of the toilet?
Am I the only one who feels so? I'd never ever wear this personally...

BaJu

OMG, love at the first sniff!!! To be honest - unexpected love. But it's really very beautiful fragrance - very subtle musk, a bit of soft suede, lilly of the valley and roses, thyme make such a masterpiece! And musk is very natural, not synthetic. The only thing, which make me hesitant regarding full bottle - average longevity and very subtle sillage. But I'm affraid I will go for full bottle despite of this, especially if I find some good offer...

sikhulinka1

I purchased the White Suede (brown bottle version). It has the influence of Chanel 19 and reminds me a lot of Cruel Gardenia by Guerlain.

Beata1723

Bought this because it was cheap, I won't lie - someone was selling their half used bottle and didn't ask for much. What a find. My very first Tom Ford.

The first sniff was pure musk, then I could also detect the sandalwood. "Hmm, it's good, very nice actually", I thought, but... that's it, no "woah", no confettis, no head over heels.

Then came the ashtray note. But not really an ashtray - more like a perfumey portrayal of one. This scent was more distinct when I pressed my nose right to my skin. From farther away, not so much. Musk and sandalwood dominated the scene still.

The scent seemed to "pulse". Every other moment I couldn't detect it anymore, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, ah, there it is again! I loved this part, and that was also the moment I realized why this is such a praised perfume.

The thing with the suede note is that at first I felt like it was there to give "texture" to other notes. Just like a milk note that often makes the other notes seem "milky". So, my first impression wasn't suede, musk, sandalwood... but suede-y musk and suede-y sandalwood, if that makes any sense.

Now though, after wearing this for a few days, I can agree that there sure is a separate, very beautiful and elegant note of suede. This perfume is such a treat. The first time I wore this to work I felt like I wasn't wearing nice enough clothes to match it!

Unlike many others, I can see why this wasn't defined as unisex - for me, this smells like a woman through and through - but that being said, I don't think too much about who the perfumes are designed for. I don't believe there is a single perfume in this world that couldn't be worn by whoever loves the scent, regardless of their gender.

Lastly I have to point out that every wear has revealed something new, some unexpected side of White Suede. For example, the lily of the valley note wasn't particularly noticeable on day 1, but on day 2, when I wore this to work, the most beautiful lily of the valley captured my senses and was the most prominent note I could detect. It immediately reminded me of my grandmother, so I deduced that she must have had a lily of the valley perfume in her wardrobe back in the 90's, early 00's. Things like this, the memories and remembering ignited by our sense of smell, was exactly what drew me to perfumes in 2012.

Julie_cutie

My first fragrance from Tom Ford is White Suede. I love the smell of this so much! It makes me feel elegant, subtle and beautiful. This is perfect for using in the office, because it's clean, refined and classy. Without too much sillage, it stays close to the skin, White Suede is kinda a discreet perfume.

frusia

I love White Suede. It's not easy for me to admit it, but I actually love it.

Many people voted Noa Cacharel as similar to White Suede, and it is. Though it's even more similar to a scent which might not be known to most Tom Ford fans: Evasion by Bourjois. I know Evasion very well, it was my mother's signature scent for years. It never smelled as good on me though. White Suede smells on me like Evasion smelled on my mother - super elegant, wonderful, addicting.

Even if White Suede is a dupe of Evasion, I must say it's a very good one, possibly an improved version, although I don't have a bottle of Evasion at hand to compare them in all fairness.

LizzieDee

We all know the major perfume families: oriental, floral etc. There is another classification which has mysteriously eluded perfumers thus far: handbag. It’s the smell you get when you open a leather handbag that has a powder compact inside it and possibly a pair of leather gloves. It’s the 1950s and the handbag (probably an Hermes Kelly bag) is on the arm of a very chic woman in a suit and pillbox hat. Maybe it even is Grace Kelly. Anyway, White Suede is a handbag perfume.

This stays close to the skin, but the woman wearing this perfume probably chooses eau de toilette rather than eau de parfum and would never wear a perfume that fills the room or leaves people reeling in her wake. Unusually, there’s a subtle floral note that emerges a couple of hours after spritzing rather than being up in the top notes but on the whole I find it quite linear. It needs another spritz every couple of hours or it fades away altogether.

Overall, this is a well-mannered and rather self-effacing perfume you could wear anywhere.

los benjos

"Elite" is how my much younger work collegue described the smell of White Suede on me.

I have no idea what that means, but i took it to be a good thing. I wear this only in colder months or for serious meetings. It is warm, leathery but with a freshness too. It doesn't punch you in the face like Tuscan leather and its not nearly as alpha male. it somehow feels more restrained but in a sophisticated way. It doesn't scream to be noticed but invariably does.

There's a faint 'older person' smell from the musk sometime but this feels very grown up and adult so i don't mind that aspect to it.

I should say that as a male i've never had any sense that this is a feminine fragrance, nor do i find it sweet or cloying.

gildedcrystal

This perfume makes me feel like a super fancy lady. Perfect for winter; it's warming and cozy. Too much can give me a headache but sprayed in moderation it's lovely.

cpellegrino

Notes: rose, saffron, thyme, mate tea, olibanum, lily-of-the-valley, amber, suede and sandalwood

Honestly I can only smell amber, suede, sandalwood, and some musk. I used two sprays just because I thought I didn't get enough juice out of the first spray. Even with two sprays its project is very weak. Not worth the money even though its a nice scent. Very inoffensive and unisex.

cpellegrino

It's pretty but very faint. On me it was a skinscent from the beginning. If I ever got this I'd get one of those sprays that somehow makes your perfume project a lot. On its own there's no point in wearing it if you want other people to be able to smell it as well. Very safe scent for anybody.

SandyMelak

Powdere woody
remindes me of Gerlain l Instant magice but more tough.

Easly can be THE MOST APPEALING Tom Form perfume.
However and SADLY as I love it it's the weakest Tom Ford Perfume I have tried so far.

actually I did NOT imagine Tom ford release as weak frageance as this.

A man or women can wear it but I see it on a woman better.

I can see as a woman with semi formal outlit most likely mid tight skirt , closed vest and scarf wears it.
most likely she isa manager of big tean work.. she is wearing it during importany meeting.

Marivictory

This is a soft well-blended powdery musky scent with hints of floral notes. Sits so close to my skin. I overspray this so it projects more but my skin eats it up.

I need advice because as much as I love smelling this on me I wish it projected a bit more. I guess that's what I got the 100ml for? I'll just keep overspraying but if you are the type to like subtle expensive smelling perfumes - this is perfect for you!

It is not staying more than 3 hrs on me - unlike some of the TF perfumes I got I have to say performance of this is the weakest. I wanted to love this. Please tell me how to make this last longer and project better. Soo light and pretty flawless smelling.

mareeefrag

Mmmmmm.
This is nice. It starts out as a sweet enveloping light floral musk. Sweet and creamy lily of the valley with soft suede peeping through. After 15 minutes a smokey leather jacket vibe appears: like a smokers clothing. A bit salty. A bit dirty. It’s kind of awesome. Not many people have commented on the cigarette smell? (Except the person below me. 😂) It’s very noticeable to me.
After a few hours it has faded to a pretty sweet musky skin scent. I like this perfume: it’s going on my Wishlist...

LateBloomer

What note smells like cigarette smoke?! I have never encountered that before.

mo-haider

One of the most underrated fragrances in the house. It's marketed for women but its completely unisex.

When I wear it in the summer, it smells fresh to me, like I stepped out of the shower and wrapped myself up with crisp linens and suede. But I can also wear this in the winter; Somehow, the freshness doesn't remind you of the cold you're in, rather, the beauty of the fragrance distracts you from it.

That said, the performance of the fragrance does leave some room for improvement. On my skin it lasts maybe 2-3 hours before retreating into a skin scent. If the power of this juice was upped a little bit, I'd be wearing this all day everyday its just that good.

espoj

WOW!

My favourite fragrance in my collection, and thats saying something. Easily Tom Fords best in in his line up besides the usual suspects.

What a musk! I love musk. all types of musk. all expressions of musk and this.... holy shit.. amazing.

Dont worry about sillage and projection, its a musk.!!!!!! Musks are an anchoring tool and a skin scent as musks normally are but, its still projects for the fist 4 hours and remains heavily and noticeably on skin for another 12+ hours. I even wake up to the smell in my sheets. Whoever gets in your scent bubble watch out...for me its a sex musk. Not a clean and not a dirty musk, but a sex musk. I feel amazing wearing it and so sexy, so confident. I feel I go out in the world and dominate my arena. thats the feeling white suede gives me.

I didn't want to share this actually because its my signature scent and I don't want everyone smelling like this as I think this is TF's secret gem, but this is a secret no more. Incredible.

Pianomelody

I love this perfume! a crystalline perfume, clean, like a cold wind passing through you! Extraordinary, i fell in love with it! A fascinating, modern musk! I love this perfume. I can't wait to buy a bottle!

Save your money. Buy Pur blanca from avon.It has exactly the same smell. Nothing feminine in this juice. Smells like pharmaceutical baby cream for infant butt. And I'm talking about the first edition in the dark bottle. Imagine this one...

hfiebert

Beautifully subtle. You can smell that it is floral but the floral is evened out with the suede and musk. Of course you can pick up the TF DNA, but like all of TF's fragrances, it is an original masterpiece. I find this wears well when it is a little cooler outside. A great Fall - Spring scent. Definitely one you should try.

fanny

Pristine and subtle.
The first lily of the valley perfume I really adore.
This is mostly musk and lotv together with tender wafts of amber and olibanum, I hardly get any suede.
I'm a bit disappointed about the sillage, but still very happy I got to test it.

An understated beauty.

Basema

I love this perfume so much it hurts.
It’s sooo Arabic but subtle. It smells like khaleeji garment after using bokhoor, oud and musk perfume.
It smells like my mother’s head scarf.
So comforting and intimate.
I love spraying it alone and mixed with other perfumes.

marcel2782

Powdered and highly scented leather from the beginning. It is notable that there was a concern in feminizing the suede with typically feminine accessory notes, but it reached a point that the suede almost abandoned entirely its animal skin character, bordering the streaks of something artificial, like skin products and creams due to a sensible burning alcoholic character as backdrop (potion-diluting style, kind of medicinal). The potency, however, is timid - an ideal autumn / winter office fragrance.

Emorandeira

This is for me a musk perfume more... It is nice and overall the quality of the smell of the suede un here , as most leather notes used by Tom Ford, is very high, but i am not sure if It really worths to pay this amount of money for a perfume which doesnt give anything new. There are lot of fragances in the market with similar smell and even better performance, because the oerfumance here is very very moderate. For example musc secret by Béjar which gives a very similar vibe for only 9.95€. but for Tom Ford lovers and musk lovers White suede can be a good option for a daytime use during winter.

Ombre Leather For Her! With a pinch of Dior Fahrenheit for Her? Maybe? This is a ballsy formula that will EMPOWER all ladies who wear it. It's a mash-up of old school & new school ...Vampish and Trampish. Not that I'm going to paint any sort of tawdry picture here, but you can imagine some Las Vegas cocktail lounge lady -- 48 years young, single and swinging-- on her off day waxing and detailing her car with the leather interior. She's got the smell of Turtle Wax on her brow and she lights a Marlboro Light 100 when she's done. She's getting cleaned up and going out on the town tonight for "happy hour" and she has a new pair of suede knee high boots (camel color) for the occasion. This new creation from Tom Ford is a HOOT. And it will trigger some old school memories of older ladies getting all dolled up and going out for a night of drinking and hell-raising. If you think this is a safe blind buy -- you get what you deserve. LOL.

nickyt99

Reminds me of an ashtray in Hawaii from my childhood. I do like it through. Different. But I’d expect it to be louder for Tom Ford.

Virginnose

Did the most stupid thing. Got this, disliked the dry down, sold it. By sundown the most breathtaking musc overtook all my senses and I cried in disbelief. So yesterday I repurchased. When do I ever learn..patience!

1guy1dog3cats

Wow, wow, wow. I love White Suede. Chanel’s Cuir de Russie is a god-tier fragrance, and this feels like a modernized take on that classic. Both feature a powdery floral abstraction over an animalic base. There’s a skanky, smoky leather core in CdR, but here, that’s swapped out for a creamy, buttery suede, reminiscent of an airier, fattier version of the leather note found in other Tom Ford scents. It’s fresh but substantive, casually elegant, and in its own sly way, sexy as hell.

When approaching the Tom Ford fragrance counter, you’re greeted with a line that sprawls and sprawls. Some in the collection are roaring behemoths, attracting far more attention and cult reverence. Tune out that “volume” for this much tamer gem. White Suede purrs, poised to seduce those who favor subtlety over braggadocio.

An absolute must-try for musk and leather fans too.

CaraQ

Talk about a multiple personality perfume. First spray - divine! It reminded me of something from childhood, and it was a wonderful something! Suede, sandalwood, amber and a slight hint of smokiness.

Later in the afternoon? OMG, help - Dirty. Ashtray. HOW is that even possible??? Truly, it was awful.

Moral of the story - Get a tester for this baby. Try it for a couple of days to see if it Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydes on you.

i feel really late in the game reviewing Tom Ford fragrances but i'll add my two cents anyways because i like to have an online record of stuff i've smelled

i'll keep the review part brief

powdery, earthy, soft leather notes

overall it reminds me of women's dove deodorant

i suppose that could be good or bad depending on what you like :)

tandem_4x4

The opening is strong petrochemical leather. Then scent splits in 2 parts on me: leather close to the skin and amazing soft flower-musk aura further from the skin. This aura is so beautiful that I put this perfume to my "love" list. However leather part is just leather and its a bit masculine.

lisaperfumeaddict

Really nice - very similar to Byredo Bal De’Afrique (which I also love). This is smooth from the suede but still very similar. I prefer Bal and probably don’t need both in my collection but I will happily use up my decant and would purchase if I saw it reduced.

beatrix75

One if the best fragrance from Tom Ford like a Venetian summer vacation ❤

Jareth

This has just the most perfect opening - a similar suede/leather note to TF Tuscan Leather, combined with the most beautiful florals (lush yet subtle). However, the suede subsides incredibly quickly - which begs the the name 'White *Suede'? - and the fragrance is reduced to a simple sweet, musky floral fragrance. Don’t get me wrong, this is some fine musky floral, but that suede opening is to die for. Like a modernised version of Cuir de Russie. 😍

Then that's pretty much it. The musky floral stage carries on for 30 to 60 minutes, drying down to a very much muted version after hour or two, with the sandalwood replacing the lost florals. However, this is the depressing part for me: what it would have been if it had carried on with a longer lasting suede/leather note...

I keep getting pleasant wafts of it up to 6 hours later, but only as a skin scent, which is why, I'm guessing, the mixed reports about longevity - some people have differeing views on where 'longevity' stops.

Alas, I might as well stop pining and buy some more CdR, or get one of those 'design your own' places to make me a special in between version of CdR, TL and this. I've got a craving that this just doesn't fully satisfy. So close though...

psebi101

Smooth floral leather, very elegant. The muguet in the beginning is a really nice addition to the leather (which is the same leather as in Tuscan Leather, just a polite and airier version). I can get the rose and sandalwood that, together with the musk, create a soft and plush leather.

As a hardcore musk lover, I feel in love with White Suede instantly. It is clean with a slightly animalic edge from the suede. It is good in all season for all occasions. Certainly appropriate for office wear. That being said, I don’t believe it’s worth the retail asking price. Shop around and find a good deal. It took me a year to find it for under for $100 USD. It was worth the wait and I am happy to have this in my collection.

oobunillaoo

when this debuted a decade ago i was taken in by the very prominent suede note, the longevity of the clean musk, and the delicate florals that accompanied. fast forward to 2019, and either my nose has changed or the composition of White Suede has - possibly a bit of both.

upon smelling more recently manufactured bottles this afternoon i noticed White Suede smelled markedly different, which made me pause; i know White Suede is in a brown bottle now but that is the only difference i've known of with regards to this particular fragrance. until this evening.

the clean musk is now cloying. the florals are rubbery in a synthetic sense. the suede is absolutely completely non-existent. the White Suede i smelled in store and on skin today smells like the sibling of Santal Blush (minus the woody facets) and Soleil Blanc (minus the vanillic undertones or brighter floral notes.) the powder is so very heavy.

while this fragrance is no longer an option for me, it certainly has its place. ten years ago there was nothing else like it and i loved it with a flaming passion; one of the few feminine fragrances i truly enjoyed from start to finish. whether my body chemistry has changed that drastically or the perfume has is anybody's guess - i would suggest that fans of the original white bottle version test the newer manufactured brown bottle version just to make sure it still agrees with you. a lot can change in ten years.

When I wore this fragrance, my female colleague keep asking me what I'm wearing. I guess this is truly a female's fragrance. But what the heck, I like it so I wear it anyway. Anyway this is my first TF Private Blend. I was about to buy Tobacco Vanille, but it's out of stock, so I bought this instead. To me, this perfume smells like white flowers and a little bit of leather. It kinda reminds me of Johnson and Johnson baby powder, but (of course) this is much much better. Longevity wise, surprisingly adequate than I initially thought. 3 hours projection, and 7 hours skin scent. If it's around USD 150, it'll easily be my signature scent. But then again, it's TF Private Blend that we're talking about :-/

SocialAssassin

My hats are off to the men that can rock this one with confidence as I certainly cannot -- nor would I ever want to. Glad I purchased myself a sample. Not a bad scent by any means, but also not a very good one either. Especially for the price. It definitely smells dated, feminine, soft, and powdery. Those looking for animalic leather look elsewhere.

Kon-nos91

WTF, when I read some reviews of this perfume, I was so disappointed in a way I thought it was my mistake of buying it. Tom Ford brought it back in the classic darker bottle of Private Collection for you that you're confused.

I was searching like crazy for a musky perfume to be added to my collection, just to seduce a Capricorn. I smelled from Body Shop's white musk to everything interesting from Narciso Rodriguez, you know why. Well, I just have to search slightly more into this musky masterpieces cause musk is addictive and so hard to be blended perfectly now that the original note is banned. I agree because you know from where 'real' musk is extracted, poor deer...

The only musky perfume I was in love with was Prada Candy Kiss and it reminds me of that special person perfectly. Imagine from all I smelled, even TF's Pure Musk (again reissued recently) White Suede won me! It's so hard to be described as well as so hard to make a musk shine when this note is used as a base for the last memory of a perfume. The 'clean'-soapy-powedery maybe (no powder = iris)-anyway creamy kind of characteristic musky note is missing from here. I am getting something I really want to chew like crazy. Sweet but not gourmand, fluffy but mature. The only problem with TF's perfume is that they are so expensive but they could be amazing if layered with others. Wish me luck, this Capi must be down soon.

Musk, light suede, saffron = White Suede

mike.obi

So apparently the white bottle is back but does anyone know how it compares with the original white bottle and brown bottle? From what I've heard and experienced, the first white bottle is the strongest; lasting at least 9 hours.

Shwets

This is a bright 'white' smelling suede! It is musky and is strong on my skin but too masculine for my liking. Generally this is great for suede lovers and im not keen on leathers either in fragrances unless its not as obvious.

The dry down after 4 hrs is white musk on me and thats my fav bit! Well suited for a man!

Virginnose

Looooove this!! After a few seconds it turned into my worst childhood nightmare of total tobacco but then it changed back into this lingering soft gentle suede hand in hand with amber and vanilla. By God it’s good!!!

zesty_calco

I don't say this often about Tom Ford scents but mmm... this stuff is good! Soft, musky, fairly realistic suede. There's a touch of powder and a white florals. The lady at the Tom Ford counter said she likes to layer this with Santal Blush and I can definitely see how White Suede is good for layering.

This is unisex leaning feminine with a slight 0ld lady vibe. There is some magic in the way this mixes with the natural smell of your skin. Fine for work and all but the hottest times of the year. Way overpriced for the weak performance. WS becomes soft after about four hours. I'd probably be interested in a small bottle if only it was just a little stronger. I have weakness for leather fragrances and the composition here is great. Maybe a decant! Head down to the Tom Ford counter and get your nose on this one.

Gumbinator

White Suede is beautiful. Finally, I've added this beauty to my collection. Off of one slight spray on my upper forearm (for test), I find my bodies heat is slowly amplifying this fragrance. That feeling when you step out of the shower, you can smell your shampoo/shower gel emitting off your skin. It's a great natural smell. As a man, White Suede comes off unisex, as I find the scent morphs with your body chemistry and heat. It's calming. White Suede is musk done in a rather mysterious and seductive way. I would smell this for hours on a woman, and it would slowly evoke imagery of curiosity and pleasure. This is not a scent to wear casually. White Suede is meant to be worn when you intend to entice your significant other, or, perhaps a crush.

bibibling

I'm just newly getting into leather scents. I had a huge run with gourmands and florals before this so leathers are a whole new world. Valentina (leather, rose, iris) was my gateway drug, and VC&A's Reve de Cashmere (leather, heliotrope, vanilla) became my addiction so I finally gave White Suede a try.

You know when people gush about that 'new car smell'? Well this is the 'new purse smell' you never knew you had a thing for!

It's a very smooth realistic suede layered with sweet light musky floral elements and resins. The florals are well blended but remind me of the sweet makeup scent but more herbal. Powdery makeup rose is blended with energizing mate tea, saffron and thyme instead of violet or iris. The resins (a light touch of amber and olibanum as well as sandalwood) work together to create a creamy luxurious cashmere-like glow of warmth and really round it out. It's a soft, bright, relaxed, luxurious feeling. If your leather/suede purse is starting to smell off, THIS is the perfume you want to spray in there.

And of course, spray it on yourself. I can't stop sniffing my hands and wrists as I type this. The sillage is at least 1 foot, but it's a light, calm scent, not a powerhouse punch in the nose.

It wont be everyone's jam. You have to be in that leather mood to really appreciate it. When I was in my gourmand and floral phases, I passed this up for YEEEEAAAARRRSS without even smelling it. I was just like 'Who in the world wants to smell like suede??' but guess what? The time comes when a well blended floral-resinous suede scent is both a cozy comfort and makes you feel energized and daring.

Don't blind buy, but if you are going through a leather phase, this is a MUST for your to-try list. Don't make a snap-judgment based on a nozzle-sniff or the 1st 5 minutes because it evolves on your skin and needs a few minutes to truly bloom.

Also - labeled for women but I think men would smell amazingly sexy in this. Definitely unisex for me.

___lucas

This fragrance is pure sex.
Not a powerful sexy bomb.
But still, pure sex.

The elegance of the scent reminds me of a wealthy, mature and indipendent woman.
Her sexiness comes from her self consciousness: she doesn’t need to show off her skin to become other people’s desire. Her clothes are very minimalistic, ton sur ton combinations, her makeup is barely there and she keeps her hair in a clean bun. Her bag is usually a taupe Kelly or a Phantom by Céline.

You can detect her scent only if very, very close: are you lucky enough?

Although the fragrance is labeled as a feminine scent, you should try the fragrance even if you’re a man: in this case the sexiness comes from the contrast between the feminine elegance of the fragrance itself and the natural odor of a male skin. The result is not a clearly sex statement achieved by masculine fragrances such as Bel Ami or any other leather-patchouli-vetiver based scent: it is subtle and definitely more intriguing. Give it a try!

PS: you’re gonna love this if you come from Narciso, both For Her or Narciso (it works even if your Arab customer doesn’t want anything smelling like Oud).

Tarquiniese

Pure heaven. White suede is a cashmere jumper worn for days , it's the smell of your skin when warmed by a fireplace,is the sofisticated yet animalic odour in a suede factory, and the familiar smell of your mum's closet filled with furs and boots and bags..the only thing I point out is the fact that the notes make me think nothing about White..beige or light Golden brown are the colors occurring in my mind, a butter biscuit suede jacket..Anyway this is a wood leather musky beast yet delicate..notes of aldehides and somethig soapy starts kicking after about 30 minutes but the earthy animalic base stays there mantaining depth to the composition. I smell also something similar to hay, just delicate and from a distance and that's what really ignites my love for this sexy juice. The drydown's all musk and something Woody vanillic still keeping that solar suede texturized note but in really soft and caressing way.Love it

jg2758

On paper: This smells as feminine as suede can be, to me. Pure suede and white musk. I'm starting to think I dislike white musk, but this is still worth a try for other suede lovers.

Jonmichael02302

I sampled this today & my God what a gorgeous fragrance... NO WAY IS THIS A FEMININE/FEMALE FRAG... If anything, I find it leans more masculine & the only failure here goes out to the imbecile who labeled this a female fragrance. I'm as manly as they come & I'm buying a bottle of this asap!!! Longevity is moderate and man do I wish it lasted longer. Projection is a good 4 feet for an hour or two before it begins to sit closer to the skin but it stays with you throughout the day. I can't wait to own a full bottle.

cvaile

I am also very surprised that this was not released as a unisex scent - this is as unisex as they come, and every bit as good as you all have described it. We are surely not alone in considering this unisex, somebody had this in with the testers at the TF counter in the men's fragrance dept in Bloomingdale's today and I am certainly glad they did.

I've never been a huge fan of heavy, oily leather scents - but I've found that I really enjoy the cooler, brighter suede note.

This is a magnificent, musky, lightly sweet suede blend.

floral08

SO GOOD... I have never thought I would love a musky leather fragrance. I'm not sure if it's the soft powdery suede or the flowers that comes along the way to dry down but it makes me feel so calm and serene.

I came across this beauty while testing Noir de Noir and Cafe Rose for my never-ending quest to find the perfect rose. SA at Tom Ford counter told me that White Suede is one of her favorites and I should try it as well. I should mention that it's not in the white bottle anymore. Since 2014, it's in grey-brown flanker of Private Blends.

Longevity is around 6-8 hours on me with moderate sillage. Overall I will enjoy it till summer before it's time for my fresh florals.

moonjung.kim

This one really freaked me out when I first tried. The top notes is very strange having gasoline or dry-cleaning material like smell. So I thought it was waste of money.
But after you wear it for 10 min it turns into very creamy and smooth musky scent. Lots of my friends gave me compliments.
Also, it's very office friendly. Not so intruding like other flowery perfume (esp. Chanel). Just neutral and clean.
This one become my signiture.

Mirabele

this one scared me away two years ago or so. there is a turpentine or burned rubber/gasoline note in the opening that doesn't make any sense to me. a note that reminds of a car workshop/ garage with rubber tires, dirty oily clothing of those hard workers, and is very unatractive for me in a perfume. i had to scrub it then. i came to try it again, after testing Cacharel Noa and getting myself Lacoste pour Femme. these three scents seem to be in the same cathegory to me, soft musky suede, skin scent, perfume that doesn't smell like perfume, but rather like a woman, like her skin, like her leather purse, like her soft light suede jacket, like her lipstick and compact powder in her cute leather make up bag. DK Cashmere Mist is a bit fresher but still relevant option. TF White Suede smells a bit like a warm skin, like human being, very soft, clean, sensual, and i have to admit, a bit expensive as well, if such exist. i do love this type of skin scents, my favorite group, scents that are close to skin and doesn't scream about perfume, but rather smell sensual and good. i love drydown of White Suede, after this weird turpentine note goes away. it is musky suede without flowers. i love musk and suede in perfume, and when in combination, it works magic to me. i do love flowers in my garden and my vases but not much in my perfumes, so no flowery is also a good thing for me. i was almost considering to buy a bottle,i liked it so much, but i can not justify the price so it is a no go anyway. i've seen many small bottles on ebay that were more reasonably priced so it is still an option. it has low sillage so i find it very suitable for office, health care jobs, and any other situations where you may consider to respect privacy of others. longevity isnt so good on me, i get 3-4 hours and then it goes away.
anyway, TF White Suede reminds me too much of Lacoste Pour Femme (which i have) and Cacharel Noa (which i had and probabyl will have again) (not alike scentwise but gives the same vibe, satisfiesthe same type of craving), so i will rather be using those two before i decide to spend so much for something with a turpentine note in the opening.

BellaX

I'm surprised TF labled this feminine, as a woman I actually think this one is quite masculine. For any men out there who likes this, don't hesitate wearing it. I can imagine it's very nice on a guy. I don't own this but I have tried it a few times now only because a friend recommended it. White musk, suede and very powdery and a bit soapy almost like washing powder. Not unpleasant, quite nice but not for me.

Arabian Knight

"White S̶u̶e̶d̶e̶"...is a dainty, pleasant scent, but it only whispers as to what it could have been.

It opens with a gorgeously realistic suede note that, much to my disappointment, fades almost instantly into a bath of green, soapy lily of the valley, partnered with the vaguest rose and a barely perceptible herbal pepperiness. Less than 20 minutes later there is no suede, no amber, just creamy musk and airy florals...it smells rather like I have just washed my hand with a bar of Dove soap. It's clean, soft and cheerful, but it's not what I want from this line, for this price.

Had that suede note lasted, it would have been so much richer and more unisex in appeal, but with the soapy lily note dominating, I can only recommend this as a casual daytime scent for middle-class women who wear pashminas and 'brunch'.

YolkMedusa

Opening note is some genuinely interesting soapy white flowers; quickly transitions to probably the finest suede note I've ever encountered.

For me the suede note eventually completely breaks down into an unappealing rubber/tar-like aroma. I've never had much luck with leather scents tho.

Very soft scent, almost disappeared at times.

This is one of the few Tom Fords I hadn't tested on skin yet, it is pleasant from first sniff - smooth, quite sensual. The suede is subtle and doesn't leap out as it does in, say, Cuir de Lancome (which I find very raw suedey though lovely).

White Suede does dry down quite sweet though ( a sort of vanilla cupcake style sweetness), but it has a counter balancing saltiness (maybe thyme and amber effect?)which to my nose gives this an almost beachy skin-scent mood.

I love the use of lily of the valley to perk it up. On its own LotV can be a bit bathroom soap-like but it's nice in this perfume.

I'm not mad keen on the white musk in this, but it is after all the white musk series! It does dominate at the end, alonside the sweetness, so it ends up maybe a bit less elegant than the start.

Having said that, I'm not keen on sweeter perfumes generally, so if you don't mind the sweet edge this is a very nice perfume.

Longevity, a noticable warm skin-scent after 6 hours. Sillahe soft to moderate, depends on how much you spray.

TonyAKAMrClean

One of the few Tom Ford scent that's "for women" instead of unisex... then why do I love it so much?! At least I'm not the only one...

I mean, yeah, it's a bit feminine, but the thing is - I just don't care! I love the smell of this one.

Jromas

I wasn't thrilled when I was initially sprayed with this at the Ford counter, but the sales rep insisted. I left the store, got in my car and started smelling the most heavenly scent radiating from me. I instantly started putting on more from the decant that she had provided me and it lasted for most of my shift at work. It smells pretty feminine in my opinion but I can't get enough of smelling this on me. It's one of those feel good scents that you kind of even want to put on at home sitting around, going to bed, etc just to smell it. Love this fragrance.

Soofiya

This is not my type of perfume,I mean I'd never even try it according it's notes if a website didn't gift me a free sample of it,but now that I've tried it I can't stop smelling myself
If you're looking for something loud or strange it would definitely disappoint you,but if you're looking for something soft and heavenly gorgeous that's it
If angel's velvety wings had a smell,I'm sure it would smell like this,at least in my imaginations.if you have a baby child and you want a light perfume and you want he/she reminds your scent as momy's angelic scent give white suede a try.it can also be a great sleep-time perfume.I know it may seem too expensive for that usage but I believe there's nothing more pricey than happiness and sweet dreams.and I promise you that you're partner can't sleep without your silky, dreamy scent after a while.it's also a very good office fragrance
I usually don't like leathery scents but suede is very silky here.I can also detect musk, amber and sandalwood, very well blended to produce a warm, soft, clean and soothing scent.it's one of those your own skin but better scents and I can't find any sharpness here
Longevity is almost good but sillage is soft
It's simply lovely
❤❤❤❤❤

landshark321

Tom Ford White Suede is definitely more my speed than Ombre Leather 16, which just provided a leather-centric accord that is less daring and interesting than Tuscan Leather.

White Suede, by contrast, is a leatehr/floral blend that has quite a unisex appeal. Suede is still the main standout, with contributions from rose, saffron, tea, and amber.

I'm not sure why but it comes off powdery on my skin, a powdery leather floral bit that while walking the unisex line nicely nonetheless comes off as a little feminine, as many powdery fragrances do, and I'd say that this is more exaggerated due to leathers usually being among the most masculine-leaning fragrances.

Performance seems adequate, perhaps slightly better than Ombre Leather 16 but not as good as Tuscan Leather.

FragranceX has this at under $170 so it's on the secondary market at a significant discount from the current retail standard of $225, but I'm not sure I'd spring for a bottle due to the powdery aspect. Still, overall, a pleasant fragrance and a nice softer, unisex alternative to Tuscan Leather.

A musky suede feminine mid-mature fragrance, which sits close to the skin and is linear...

I applied 6 heavy sprays

0-1.5 hours 2 inch projection. This fragrance is very feminine and not very complex. It is suede with heaps of musk and slightly posh. It could be used during day or night, has a corporate work feel, and could be used at a formal occasion.

1.5 hours - 3 hours- 1 inch projection. Very close to skin. Pretty much linear, but if you smell hard enough you can get some floral and although not listed some little leather

3 hours - 24 hours. This stayed on my skin until the next day but very close to the skin and no projection

Very forgettable

Not for me

PinkRainbow

Wow, this is just magnificent. Silky suede and spices woven within a sharp amber vibe. Great for a winter's night with snow falling.

HeidiLynn

This is a really lovely musky leather scent with an amberish flair and a strong sandalwood undertone; the sandalwood is the predominant note in the drydown. The earlier phases are harder to describe, other than just to say I smelled really good. Lasted at least 6 hours with moderate-strong sillage.

wootforDOLCE&GABBANA

I finally, after days of mulling over this, went over to Sephora and purchased it! I SMELL ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

wootforDOLCE&GABBANA

if you're already wearing leather, people might assume it's your jacket (or wallet, or shoes, or purse...) or something

wootforDOLCE&GABBANA

the first 30 min smelled like department store lotion...then an expensive leather wallet appeared and stayed there.

(maybe i'm just mulling over the fact that this perfume is so dang expensive if I were to invest in a bottle...)

a great 5/5 stars non-fragrance fragrance! Its the kind of fragrance where people can't tell if you've sprayed something on or not (assuming you don't spray on too much)

LuxAestiva

One of my favorite private blends. If you're into leather/suede but Tuscan Leather is too intense and masculine, then try White Suede. Basically new car smell meets white flowers, clean musk and a touch of smoke. The dry down is like a musky, clean shampoo but still smells expensive and comforting. I only wish the suede/leather stayed around longer.

beritskagen

Tom Ford scents seems to usually have some basic similarities about them, so no wonder its listed a bunch of other TF scents that "people who like also like". However it's not very informative when researching, especially for anybody that doesn't have a TF counter nearby. So I got the chance to finally smell this, and it surely reminded me of something, but I could not put my finger on it...and suddenly it struck me: Noa by Cacharel! Of course. I have not smelt them side by side, and they probably would differ quite a bit, but if I where to choose a TF fragrance for a person who love Noa, I would go for this one. This is musk covered in suede rather than coffee leaving it soft soft and beautiful just like Noa....They share a composition of powdery transparency, but TF WS is more stated and collected and does not hide as silently in the air, its more pronounced than Noa.

In my opinion this might be one of the TFs that is a bit easier to wear. This composition seems to work in a (clean enough?) way that people will know its your perfume they are smelling rather than think; what is that odd odor...? To some of us that is rather reassuring. Some of the TFs flirts a bit with the cumin note, and that can sometimes make the perfume smell somewhat like a curry rather than something you would want to wear. This one stays clear of that, but still has kept the Tom Ford signature. (You might want people to be able to smell that price tag I guess...) Its not for the shy, but for the one that knows that there is no need to be loud or act out in weird ways to be heard. Its beautiful, clean, interesting and rather safe at the same time. It just calmly and politely stands out.

craftymaya

I bought a sample of this because I have Armani Code Couture (with a wonderful leather note) which I adore, and because of the good reviews. Well, I like the opening of White Suede, but after a couple minutes, instead of suede, on me, I get more like a light gasoline smell.... I get also a balsamic vibe, but no musk at all. No, that is not a scent I will purchase. Maybe more masculine than feminine too, in my opinion.

hellok

First, I am reviewing the reformulated version in the dark bottle.

Smells lovely. Suede, musk, and light florals. Perfection in a bottle.

Problem: zero projection. I sprayed 10 sprays on my forearm and could not smell it unless I held it 3 inches from my nose. I was shocked by how many sprays I had to go to get even that mild of projection! I kept going and going hoping to get a moderate projection, but... nothing!

I thought this was worth a purchase for me based on the beautiful smell, but the reformulated version is so, so weak. It lasts for 6+ hours on my skin, but unless you're giving me a hug you won't smell it. So disappointing!

All other Tom Ford Private Blends project a minimum of 6 inches off me. This is the single one that just has no power at all. Such a disappointment.

Godisnowhere666

Sweet soft mellow cuddly scent, when I tested the sample, I recognised the same scent from somewhere before, to then realise it smells like ombré rose! ... Great cheapie alternative!

LoneCamel

With the usual dramatics of Tom Ford, this one is still very unoffensive. At least, I guess it is to others. But on my skin, she behaves like a very well off acquaintance, a well bred midlife woman who smiles warmly but manages to look down her nose at me and turn away, self possessed. This is definately her day off, the sun is shining and she is wearing jeans and a straw hat. 30 minutes later she gets more relaxed but still cold somehow. The only suede I detect is in the print on the label.

Calvini

A little too musky powdery towards the middle/end, wish the suede accord would stay prominent.

katherine410

White Suede is absolutely divine! If heaven had a scent it would be this! As someone else here mentioned, I too catch myself constantly sniffing my wrist. This can be a casual, everyday, t-shirt and jeans wearing fragrance, yet it can also be elegant, sexy and delicate enough to be worn for an intimate night with your significant other. Actually, I like wearing this when I have nothing but a night gown on.

HOWEVER, for me this sits very close to the skin, and so sillage and longevity are low :(

I haven't purchased this yet but the sales person at a local department store gave me a generous sample. I soooo want to buy this! And I'm torn as to whether I should or shouldn't. $220 for a 1.7oz bottle and I would have to spray this like crazy! Wrist, neck, behind the ear, above the head, clothes etc. not sure if its worth the price tag.

But my love for this may just prove to be too strong.

royalLionheart

TF White Suede >> ok.

Evody Cuir Blanc >> amazing.

Evody has more depth, is more opulent.

Evody wins.

axlebart

This is a lovely scent.

Despite being explicitly unisex, I imagine this will work superbly on female skin, it works brilliantly on my male skin. It's a powdery smelling complex blend including sandalwood, and other ingredients I can't pick out - but the blend works excellently. It dominates the middle range with a little flowery upturn toward the top. Very difficult to describe, but it's at the musky/vetiver end of the scale and it's very unoffensive.

For me it immediately made me think of a female work colleague I used to sit next to who smelled so wonderful I wanted to sniff her neck. Even so, as a male, and a red-blooded one at that, I would not hesitate to wear this with my courting hat on.

But Aventus it is not. This is a mum-sy, welcoming, big hug of a fragrance that will make you smell approachable, rather than unavoidable.

Another easy winner from Tom Ford.

jadetrail51

Holy Mother of Musk! This is The Perfect fresh floral/musk for any time but I'm especially enjoying it over this sweltering hot summer.
This is the one you'd appreciate the person sitting next to you wearing on a crowded bus or cramped flight; this is the one that is so soft you could spritz it on before retiring on a hot humid night for perfect dreaming; this is the freshness I get from the nape of a newborn's little head; but it also subtly excudes a clean and sexy vibe. Appealing on so many levels; generation-less and any time of day friendly. Your daughter could wear this to the Prom; your spouse could wear it to shop for groceries. I would wear it with my little black dress or my white linen shirt. I guess only a musk hater wouldn't wear or appreciate it. Best musk to come along in a very long time.

Okay, so this opening was super disappointing. It barely smelled like anything (only a hint of a suede shoe), but two minutes in and I was blown away by the craziness that was herbs. The heart was beautiful and herbal, like showering in fresh spices and herbs from a high end chefs kitchen. I don't have anything similar and really enjoyed my experience.

Oh, and I did not really find it that feminine as suggested above.

Urged to try this one by somebody on this page's forum, I duly visted a Nordstrom for a paper strip and a spray.

I was hoping for a sort of distant cousin to Tuscan Leather, which I like very much. Or perhaps some variation of a light white musk of the type found in Mugler Cologne. Anyway, that was the expectation.

What I got was a sort of hard-to-define collection of notes that didn't make me think of either. Worse, it didn't play well with my skin chemistry, becoming rather sour or "off." There's a note there that is just not flattering or pleasant on me.

What's more, it's very light. I'm a big guy... this is like wearing a tie made out of Kleenex. It just doesn't work.

My wife didn't like it, either. It reminded her of a cheap musk that somebody she used to know used to wear.

So... no. Not for me.

Very pretty fragrance. On me, mostly musky and flowery with a serene base of suede (ie birch). Reminds me of a more grown-up, softer and introverted Noa, which I always found to be somewhat high-pitched.

Now the question: is it worth the price tag? As someone else wrote, it creates an aura of happiness and coziness. Nonetheless, I'm on the fence as to whether it is FB worthy. At half the price, I would certainly consider it, as it is an elegant yet approachable rendition of the genre (albeit not the most unique).

PS: it certainly has a distinctive burned rubber smell in the first 30 minutes. I happen to like it as an interesting counterpoint to the softness of musk and flowers.

Floral, cozy, soft with a hint of nuts is how I'd describe this fragrance. I couldn't detect any suede notes here, but instead can smell the roses, rounded out by the spices which somehow on me smells a bit like a sweetened vetiver. The scent stays linear on me throughout, but it is a very nice scent. I'd say this is a pretty safe and conservative fragrance to wear, or simply something to wear if you want to feel warm and cozy. Sillage and longevity are low on me, as seems to be the challenge with the Tom Ford fragrances that goes well on my skin. However, it is a good scent, a bit commercialized, but I like the comforting feel it gives off. All in all, pretty good and pleasant.

Amazing clean/jaded musk. I wear it for myself. If people around me like it, well, I don't really care because it makes me smile which is the main reason why I spend lots of money on this expensive hobby.

This is pure class. I love this, when I wear it I'm always catching myself sniffing my wrists. It's very retro and elegant, the rose is subdued, and a nice suede note. Very good.

As an avid sniffer of chamois leather, with a deep abiding memory of a cerise suede coat trimmed with fluffy sheepskin purchased in 1973 from Romford Market, I can say this holds no suede for me whatsoever. But. It is lovely. It is soft as one of those elegant buttery leather gloves which you found at the bottom of your mum's handbag, which always managed to smell of the ambition and yearning to be a lady in click-clack heels when you grew up.
Gentle as a buff ostritch feather dipped in musky face powder, nuzzle-able as a newly bathed baby with rosebud lips. For me, it's rose pink lipstick in a gold twist tube, blotted onto a handy-andie tissue, Lily of the valley in the darkest corner of the garden after a shower of rain, and a fluffy towel to dry off with. It clings delicately to everything it touches, and is still evident, a month later, on the fluffy throw I use over my duvet on ice-nights. Beautiful.

I can't add much to what has already been said about WM...it's just sensual, plush, floral leather that melds with my skin. (I only have a large sample of this and Tuscan Leather but would drool at the thought of having fb of them both.Tuscan Leather is a Holy Grail of mine Try layering the two...OHMY!)

I only want to add that it is remarkable similar to Ombre Rose. I've gone through two bottle of that in the past and have a few spritzs left but NO DOUBT, they are eerily similar, only Ombre Rose has a little less, well, "sumthin sumthin" than White Suede.. ..but may be a good substitute for a whole lot less $$

There is a reason this is the last man standing from the TF musk collection. It is freaking wonderful. I love the classic musk smell mixed with leather. The combination is so sexy. It takes an otherwise clean fragrance and adds depth and makes it interesting. Some days I get a LOT of leather from this. Seems like humid, rainy days really brings it out. This is one of those scents that I want to wear day after day once I put it on and have a hard time breaking it. I get a bit addicted to the musky scent. It is very comforting and soothing to my soul. One of my favorite musks of all time and I have tried a LOT. Been a musk fan since about the 6th grade when I first discovered musk oil. White Suede is what I consider real musk. So many supposed "musky" scents today just aren't musky to me. This is the real deal.

Milky, floral suede.

My mom used to have lipsticks, when I was little, that I believe, smelled like this. This definitely smells like some sort of cosmetics to me and has some retro vibe to it.

This feels pleasant and abstract.
