Alien Oud Majestueux by Mugler is a Amber Woody fragrance for women. Alien Oud Majestueux was launched in 2015. Top notes are Saffron and Cardamom; middle notes are Jasmine and Cashmeran; base notes are Agarwood (Oud) and Amber.

Thierry Mugler did not resist the challenge to present to the market his perfume which contains precious oud in his name and ingredients. Honestly, I expected to see oud firstly in a masculine composition, combined with coffee, woody notes, leather and spices, but in the middle of summer 2015 full-blooded Alien was presented which arrives as an oriental and very spicy version of the original version of Alien.

We are already used to Mugler’s ‘kitchen’ in which everything is possible and which has been launching extraordinary versions of the original themes for many years. Its fragrant versions now truly satisfy numerous fans of perfumes because they do not lose quality nor invention regardless that sometimes only small details are in question. The Alien collection has now received another version which contains DNA of the original and plays on traditional Arabic ingredients. ALIEN OUD MAJESTUEUX is another creation for which we can say that its composition is built on a synthesis of East and West, and their contrasts.

Sensuality and ardor are the main characteristics of this edition. Top notes of the composition vibrate in rhythm of spices by creating harmony of hot cardamom and flamboyant chords of saffron. The heart provides jasmine flowers typical of the popular Alien, combined with cashmeran, leaving authentic signature of the original composition, surrounded by flavors of precious oud creating a fragrant swirl around the woody-floral blend and making the base mysterious and deep. Composition of the fragrance is characterized as woody-floral with expressive amber.

Flacon of the latest Alien takes the form as Alien like EDT and summer limited editions which have been launched for numerous years. Luxury of the ingredients is depicted with color of gold and amber in a flacon iridescent to highlight the body of the flacon. The new Alien arrives in lucky charm flacon with glittery, golden decorations to provide particular charm and energy. It arrives in a box with mirrors inspired by sophistication and femininity. Fragrance ALIEN OUD MAJESTUEUX is available as 90ml – on the official website of Thierry Mugler.

أجمل عطر كل مخلص عندي رجعت اشتريه، صار الناس يميزون العطر مني 🤎🤎🤎

AnanZ

I bought a tester vial and ive been using it very sparingly. Smells like the most expensive & luxurious dark fragrance I own.

I wore this to prom too!

nathaliesjostedt

What is a common price to sell this one for? 😊 I have a 90ml bottle (with maybe 70ml left) and thinking about selling it but i have no idea what it's 'worth'. No box

cdcs

On paper, this sounds like something I should love, which was a bit frustrating when I got it, so take this with a grain of salt. While you can pick out the ingredients when you pay attention to them, especially the Alien DNA and the Oud while the others tend to blend on the background, but the overall impression if you don’t analyse it enough, at least on my skin, was of an Alien edp gone bad, mixed with the smell of nail polish remover, so do excuse my frustration with it. Good longevity, and maybe this could work on another skin chemistry, not to mention this is very much a more masculine rendition of Alien, so there’s that. Overall, I was disappointed.

aeysha.ferdous

Those who said it smells like poop, you don’t know anything about oud. THANK GOD I DIDNT LISTEN TO YOU AND BOUGHT IT

Valentina Lisa

I have a hole bottle for sale and ship in Europe.
I like it but I prefer other ouds I have...

lmnsvgz

This is not barnyard oud, barnyards smell better than this. This smells like piss and shit at the same time. The intial spray smelled like something toxic, I didn't manage to wait until the drydown because of how bad it is. I am sorry for talking shit for Oud Palao and Oud Satin Mood, both of them smell like heaven compared to this.

I love Mugler, but this is so, so bad.

Dianaoud

I belong to the crowd that love this one. Oud is the prominent note with a slight of jasmine and saffron. I can se the similarities with Xerjoffs Al-Khatt, but much lighter and smoother version.

Silverquick

Very clear almost crunchy and unsweetened amber overlaying the strong jasmine like plates of amber coloured crystal armour. Around our warriors neck is draped a very dark and fluffy black oud mohair cape. She’s off ready to wage slow war.

Really interesting multi-layered scent. No barnyard at all. But the opposing textures in this fragrance make you want more.

Backup bottle worthy

WolfQueen626

Very spicy warm version of alien. It should be noted like others have said, this is more of oud with a touch of alien in it. The oud in this is VERY strong, and I don’t consider this a safe blind buy unless you know what oud smells like. Personally, I don’t get any barnyard smell/foul odor from this oud. To me, it smells spicy and potent. Recommend if you like alien.

brandybasisty

One spray on my torso, under my shirt. Just--wow. Saffron gives it bite, and cardamom numbs the nose just enough so you don't become overwhelmed (not the same as the menthol aspect of Alien Essence Absolue, but a similar effect). The large dose of Oud (synthetic) is rounded out by the sweetness of the characteristic Alien jasmine cashmeran and amber, a refreshing change from the rose and/or vanilla oud combos I'm used to. Unisex, bombastic and worth getting your nose on if you can.

Candd

I would like to buy one. Please contact me if you have one for sale.

Jclee34

It’s funny how people get these weird smells like poop, urine, barnyard because I get neither. It smells beautiful. I really just smell alien on crack🤣🤣. Smells gorgeous to me. I want to wear it so bad in this New York heat but I don’t want to hear anyone complaining. I rather smell this than smelling stink from people sweating. I can’t take the smell of peoples natural order. I think 1 to 2 sprays is good enough so u won’t “offend anyone who knows nothing about smelling good”!

VictoriaSmells

WOW this is STRONG!
I do *not* get those tops notes of cardamom or saffron listed here.
It's like OG Alien but volume cranked up to 11. It comes out swinging immediately.
I get a blast of wet decaying wood, jasmine and amber. It's got a really strong, pissy ammonia smell. (Which is to be expected with indolic, amber frags- I am not complaining.)
This is just so concentrated that it takes me aback and I feel I need a little 'less'.
One spritz has my nose scrunching and my sinuses puckering.
I'm just astounded by how powerful this is. I gotta stand outside and let the breeze blow some of this off lol.

Mugler always wows me. Even if i don't "love it at first sniff" it is always intriguing enough to keep drawing me back.

yoanaaaaaaaa

I have one for sale.

Christine 78

This one is straight up barn all the way on me... 😣 It is too bad, because it is really long lastning. Must be the way my body reacts, but I cannot have this on me the whole day 😞
Maybe it suits my friend better... 🤞

MnM

Simply DIVINE 💛💛💛💛 I wish i had purchased 2 bottles 😔

I have 2 unopened bottles for my collection. I can sell one of them. If interested PM me.

Hey everyone! Where can I buy alien oud? My bottle is almost finished and I don't have a backup 😭😭😭😭😭😭 please help!

lzak

Lovely Alien with a hint of Oud. A whisper, not a scream. One of the lovely Alien’s that lasts, so of course it’s discontinued as the line is being decimated. What a shame. Shame, Shame.

swimmingrose55

I just got this one for fun and because I was really curious about what this "barnyard" smell was. I own a small bottle of Alien and I like the smell but I don't ever wear it because it gives me such a bad headache and almost makes me feel nauseous. I wasn't expecting to like this one, but I think I'm crazy because this fragrance is awesome and dare I say, feels more wearable that the original alien! I definitely get the "poop"smell, but on my skin, it goes way in about 5 minutes, and i'm left with a woody-smelling alien. I feel like the added wood makes this fragrance so much more pleasurable and wearable. That being said, the Alien I own is 15+years old at this point, so maybe I should revisit the original Alien they sell now and see if the smell is less potent than the juice I own. But from comparing my Alien to this Alien Oud, I think I prefer Alien Oud!

soumikmal

My scent of the night, Alien Oud Majestueux, I've loved the original for as long as I can remember, if that was purple rain, this is purple fire.

The Grapefruity-Jasmine sambac body of the original commingling with a gorgeous Oud, that gives it a woodsy-smoky bite, when I occasionally catch a whiff of it I get the impression of Bakhour (oud chip burners) that has been drizzled with Jasmine absolute.

It is time we explore the incredible symphony of Jasmine-Oud and the Rose-Ouds of the yesteryears take a backseat.

p.kalamaja

It’s Alien plus Oud and it is great! The oud is fantastic. Slightly barnyard Oud but great! I’m not getting too much of the other notes. I LOOOOOOOVE it!

NoirDesir

The perfume that smells like confidence and love in the same bottle. This one and essence absolue are my favourites from this range. I received a ton of compliments while wearing this one. Lasts a very very very long time, smells gorgeous. Might be a little more on the masculine side than essence absolue as it’s not that sweet. I love this one. I wore it in autumn and winter, maybe for summer it’s a little too much to wear. Try if before buying as it’s scent it’s not so common. For me it’s love at first smell 😄

Nandilf

Captivating, unique, one of the very few designer fragrances that smells like a niche fragrance. I’m so happy I could snag a bottle

Cosmina07

I can say that this is my nr.1 version of Alien. I have the musc version and I love it but this is out of this world. If u overspray u ll smell dirty but sprayed responsible is amazing, power lasting 10++++. For me, this is a masterpiece. Bold, unique, strong, smbdy told me this is what a diva would wear😅 for some it can be an overwhelming scent

Ricks44

Smells very similar to Alien Essence Absolue. No oud just slightly woody. If you enjoy Alien Essence Absolue - this is the same fragrance with a very subtle oud accord in the intro. Though it doesn't smell of oud too much. Certainly not banyardy as some people are claiming. Great scent.

kat716

I want to love it or to like it but i cant..Its a perfume for the oud lovers. If you dont like barnyard oud its not for you. Sillage and longevity are amazing. Not a safe blind buy 100%.

Madame Veillette

Imagine, if you snort the razor, not the drugs, and keep it up 'til it works... That's me right here with this bottle.
😤😵😣😖😳

I'm determined to make this work. 😆

ellyas

Smells great, very long lasting. My signature scent. Love it!

sakura28

This is a very bold and unique scent.

Being fairly new to oud, I didn't understand what "barnyard" oud smelled like, until I smelled the opening of this scent.

Honestly it's pretty stanky on me at opening. Almost felt like I got tricked. Reminded me of poopy dirty barn, sorry, but it does for me at opening. Believe it or not, I collected two, one each from 2 different trusted retailers, and yup it is what it is.

Thankful that stank part doesn't last forever. It dries and it smells like the original alien + an animalic oud on my skin. This is the part I can really appreciate the other spices and depth of this fragrance.

Maybe because my nose is still pretty new to this type of animalic oud, I still get a little hint funky BO throughout wearing it. When I smell it up close, it smells good. I get the complexity of the fragrance. But when I get whifs of it here while going about my day it's BO smelling (promise I'm showered and clean). Very confusing, probably just doesn't work with my chemistry.

I see this as more of a special occasion/night time scent.

Like most of Muglers bolder scents I usually hate it at first, then crave and like it more and more after retesting them. I got this mainly to collect. The bottle, juice, and packaging box it comes in are so fun and very unique.

Update: for fun just sprayed this on my boyfriend and it smells so much nicer on him. It stays barnyard for so long on me. Damn my chemistry ! Lol Atleast I can enjoy the scent on him.

nordstorm

I wasn't quite sure at first, but after spending some time with an alien alone(!) needlessly looking for its "worm hole", I can tell you now that Oud Majestictactoe is a good alternative to my favourite Al-Khatt. Don't be afraid. The oud here is not animalic and the jasmine, the greatest performer in the perfumery (besides the rose), is overwhelming and not the dirty one anyways. The oud note makes this fragrances not so artificial and therefore maybe... maybe a little bit more well-behaved than the original. Still the performance is stellar, so stay away from the clothes!

Alien: "What did you say, honey? Are you coming or should I go to another planet? The people here on Earth are so boring, spending their whole time on fragrantica."

...unzipping

Me: "Ahh, here you are! Dear diary... Jackpot!"

hollymichaelm

The first time I smelled it - I hated it. It smelled like wood polish to me. AND NOW I LOVE THIS!!
So gorgeous, oriental, sexy, smokey, woody, spicy with the alien DNA. I like this as much as Alien Essence Absolut - and I think the vibe is similar, but this one is more dangerous and mysterious.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! 8/10

Supermonipower

Absolutely a masterpiece!

If you love alien and oud, check this one out. It is exactly as it says: alien mixed with oud. It is beautifully blended. Definitely a safe blind buy for me!

It is the perfect oriental alien, a true masterpiece.

I bought the Musc one to compare it, but I love this one more.
The musc one smells more animalic and is more masculine and stronger.

This one is definitely unisex as well!! Great longevity and great sillage :)

arapp95

This perfume is EXCELLENT. The oud is a touch stinky/dirty on me on the initial opening but it's not terribly off putting. That disappears in a few minutes and it becomes a nice warm oud with a lot of delicious spice over top of the base of alien. It's warm and decadent but not in a gourmand/sweet way. There is a touch of sweetness in this fragrance but not anything close to Essence Absolue. I also have Musc Mysterieux and I think I like this one a touch more. MM is colder and feels a little 80s throwback with all of the Musk but is still really pretty. I just like the warmth in this version more and I think the spice blends in nicely with the oud here whereas the spice and musk in MM are less well blended.

I can't wait to wear this in the winter! Bonus, the bottle is stunning.

Ariella_essenzia_lux

This is what the original Alien should've smelled like! I am a fan of the pre-formulated version of Alien but this flanker is on another level. It is absolutely gorgeous! Extremely sexy and confidence boosting, you have to wanna stand out. I definitely smell jasmine BUT oud definitely steals the show in this one. It's definitely best for dry cold weather and more of a night time scent.

Avian

Oud Majestueux is the realization of the golden-gowned Alien that the first Alien EDP hinted at. While the original is a magnificent and larger-than-life perfume, Oud Majestueux brings a different, greater opulence that really gives the impression of luxurious golden robe. It is a special perfume, and I like it even better than Alien Essence Absolue, which is another stunner. Essence Absolue pushes Alien too far into sweet/smooth/resinous territory at times, and loses needed contrast. That said, it is still a keeper. Grab Oud Majestueux while you can, and before L'Oreal neuters it.

I'll walk you through the Oud Majestueux experience: the first spray reveals Alien's cosmic jasmine, as well as syrupy vanilla'd amber and a distinctly barn-yardy oud. Yes, this oud is a little dirty, and if you hate oud, you will not enjoy this phase. But this oud is not overbearingly skanky, and it relaxes as the scent dries. The next stage introduces a deliciously tangy cardamom, which, when combined with the vanillic tones in the amber, sometimes makes Oud Majestueux a little foodie at times. The saffron also fully asserts itself, bolstering the sharpness of the oud and cardamom, and bringing out the contrast between classic and smooth Alien jasmine-cashmere and the oriental notes. In the drydown, much of the heavier cashmere and sweetness evaporate, and a delicate, dry, clean, and elegant oud predominates. It is balanced with a soft dose of absolutely gorgeous jasmine and saffron.

This is NOT just a lazy flanker of Alien EDP with oud haphazardly thrown on top. Oud Majestueux is a reinterpretation of Alien, designed with Eastern tastes in mind, that features oud as a prominent note. Also, this Alien is much more similar to older formulations, not the terrible soapy beast of the most recent reformulation. It is just as strong as old Alien. Two sprays filled a room, and I go noseblind quickly.

adice

Smells like 90% Essence Absolu (which I love) but with 10% of something really funky/poopy added in there. On my skin many musks, certain florals, and oud notes seem to go more funky/barnyard/poopy than they do on other people. I only tried this because I got a free sample with a Sephora order a while back but wouldn't have messed around with it otherwise. Anyway, no surprise, I'll stick with Alien essence absolu it works better on me.

Marissaluvsscents

Love this. It’s a way better version of Alien. I wouldn’t think you need both (unless you’re a flanker whore) lol but this could be the only Alien you need. It’s like a niche, exotic, sexier, upgraded Alien. I love the spice added and type of Oud this has. It’s JUST enough. The Alien base seems more syrupy beneath the oud, almost sweeter. If I had never smelled Alien my eyeballs would pop out of my head for this. Absolutely GORGEOUS! Arabian Princess dripped in gold and purple. Wowza.

Edit- I also get Alien Essence Absolue vibes, without the play doh 👌🏼

Advaitaforever

Skanky, gentle and feminine at the same time. This is almost like the continuation of the anticipation that Alien builds up. The soft and powdery jasmine emerges very conspicuously through the animalic Oud accord. This scent is very spicy and far more polarising than the original alien. I enjoy it but I prefer the woodiness of the original. The Oud is quite balsamic (similar to Mizensir perfect Oud) and I prefer the barnyard variety. I can’t really detect the individual saffron and cardamom notes, but there is a sweet herbaceous quality to the fragrance.

The Oud is just so present. The projection and longevity are a far cry, this is more of a moderate performer. A disappointing derivative of a truly majestic scent.

forêt

Genius!
I am so excited to have an Alien bottle in my collection- and the scent is divine! It smells like Alien + oud to me and that’s it but I am not familiar enough with the original to smell extra cashmeran or cardamom as another reviewer does.. Anyway I am wondering if they got to use real oud in this creation or if it’s synthetic. It’s like a back bone for the Alien smell and is of the subtler oudy scents.

mapache

Love at first sniff for me.

Basically, take original Alien, add light oud,amp up the amber/cashmere a tad....cardamom.....ta da !!!!

It is still a "jasmine" scent IMO,but with just the right notes added to ir to be awesome.
I find this one sweetens thru the dry-down. Projection and sillage....no complaints here.

maya.nasr98

Jasmine is my everlasting love I feel it is is coming from heaven,I would give this one a try

MimoG

Blind bought and really disappointed. Being an Arab, in very accustomed to oud and the oud note in this smells cheap and animalistic. Don’t waste your money, if you’re going to buy oud save a little bit extra and get oud palao or something, anything but this

soufvb

Never thought I would get so many compliments with this fragrance as it is very unique and even drier than the OG Alien. Love it.

AlexandraTroush

This is a masterpiece for true art enthusiasts. It smells like a museum. It has a very expensive and "do not touch" kind of vibe. Freshly cleaned, lacquered wooden floors. Ancient leftovers from the past. A dusty mummy. Some dinosaur bones. Crumbling papers. Broken clay pieces. Echoing silence through the halls.

I truly adore this piece, but I'm having a hard time finding an appropriate occasion to wear it.
I can't wear this to uni. I can't wear this on a date. I can't wear this for lunch. I can't wear this for parties.
The only time I can wear it is in the solitude of my home, and it's a big shame.

So in essence, it smells like a museum, and behaves like an exponent. It will be presenting itself in all glory on the most luxurious spot in my collection, not ever being approached, and only admired from a distance.
One of my most dear perfume pieces, but hardly usable.

In comparison to Alien Musc Mysterieux, I don't regret owning both. They are different enough to be admired each for its own atmosphere.

perfume_infatuated

Alien is always worthwhile. This is a very nice oriental for winter, that smells like Alien, but with stronger cashmere wood, the addition of saffron, burnt agarwood smell, and animalic black musk (deer musk) that whiffs makiage vibes in cold weather after settling down.

The saffron note is so extensive, and I wonder how it gets low voting. I find it dominating the composition, and honestly I find it a bit uneasy, but that's a personal opinion.

All in all, although it may not be an easy-reach perfume, it remains a statement perfume that's unavoidable for oud-saffron lovers. Despite the pungent cashmere wood and saffron, I'm finding myself liking it so much.

Bold and unique for sure.

Nonzerosumness

It's funny how much I disliked Alien the first time I tested it and now I own and love it, as well as several of its flankers. This particular flanker is wonderful. Creamy oud that makes me happy when I wear it.

hawa438

This is what the men's version of Alien should have smelled like!

It's so beautiful, sensual and outright sexy. I'm a male and get stopped randomly by people to ask what it is that I'm wearing.

The jasmine creates this beautiful and desirable aura while the oud anchors it in some semblance of masculinity.

greyhoundmom

Rose and oud is undoubtedly a classic combination, but after experiencing this fragrance I have to wonder why jasmine and oud isn’t more prevalent in fragrance. What a gorgeous duet of notes. The oud has to be the lovely baby powder oud that this particular perfume exhibits; oud can be sharp and medicinal or overly indolic/fecal and that might be completely at odds with jasmine, which is already indolic and heavy on its own.

I was unfair to this fragrance awhile back. I blind bought a bottle at a discount and it must have turned or was a different formulation because all I got was saffron and a tiny bit of oud and it smelled, quite frankly, like urine. I was horrified. After some time, I noticed more and more glowing reviews on this fragrance and was eager to give it another chance as I love Alien and I love oud.

I am so happy I revisited this one. How gorgeous and classy it is. Alien on its own can be overbearing, but adding oud to the mix gives that powerful jasmine note some balance and creates a very sophisticated blend.

Rosemary's Baby by Roman Polanski

Hands down - my favourite Alien Flanker. I am considering getting a second bottle to be safe. Durability and strenght are amazing. I will copy a comment I once wrote somewhere.

When I sniff it and close my eyes I see Saharan desert, a temple with burning incense where jasmine lays on the wooden altar, Pharaoh in some forbidden sarcophagus hidden deep within the dark tomb, and bazaars with crowds and spices. Spices are rich and intense. The heat is unbearable but thankfully the evening approaches. A woman in a white long robe is preparing for a bath in some tent that is moving as the desert wind blows - the scent is transforming. Petals of the jasmine are dancing on the surface of the water. Each time the wind blows again, it brings sand and incense smoke. Somebody is playing a flute. The sun outside is setting, dunes are casting long shadows as the sky begins to show first stars - our cosmos above. Sometimes I feel more jasmine, sometimes more incense and sweet woods (Is that oud that smells like that? I don't know oud very well.) A wonderful concoction.

I love it. I think it's not your typical crowd pleaser. The bottle & package looks like a gem that could be found in the tomb.

s.pellegrino

So to me this smells literally like Alien with oud thrown in, and it works beautifully - gives a depth and a grit to the original alien that I really enjoy. Can't figure out if i enjoy it enough to splurge on a FB though... but if I'd buy any Alien at all, it'd be this. Feels sexy and all grown-up.

AuraPhoenix

Just got mines today and placed it next to the original

I must say it smells different on the skin but smells like Alien EDP in the air as you move around...

The opening is spicy yet animalic due to the oud notes used in the fragrance, the jasmine is the same just in this version it has a glowing / warming effect with a smoky background

It basically smells like an incensed version of the original perfect for gatherings!!! I’d call it sensual carnally classy

The woody notes (oud) makes it a lot more warm... gold is the right color for this elixir

ViouAmara

It took me some time before I could understand this mugler. I started to think I was surprisingly weak and uninteresting. What a shame. BUT it was a big mistake. It is long, beautiful and not weak at all. I could compare this with the first impression of escentric escentric 2: where are you?
Then appears a divine cosy floated wood fragrance, firmly settled on my skin, heady, deep, wonderful. If I lay a tiny drop on my elbow in the evening, it is still there, mellowed with my dreams when I wake up. I won’t disturb anybody around, but it will give me a sort of secret enigmatic happiness. This not for sure the spicy wood we are use to find with oud! The theme is much better here. Love.

AMajeedQT

One of the best jasmine scent I've ever came across!

Alien Oud Majestueux (AOM) is a jasmine scent first & foremost that's mildly sweet, with a hint of incense-like woodiness that could easily be due to cashmeran. It has an Arabic vibe to it, as if it's from 1001 Nights.

I can not detect a noticeable oud note here. There is the vibe I mentioned but no clear smell of oud. This is a trend I've noticed on Fragrantica. People tend to vote oud very highly on the notes pyramid even if it's not noticeable & I can say this confidently because I've owned & used many Arabic oud fragrances, including pure oud oils & oud wood (bakhoor/incense).

Nonetheless, AOM is a fantastic jasmine scent that is mature & elegant as if it was Meryl Streep's personality in a bottle.

Love it!

SebaM83

I'm on a Mugler fase and I came across Alien Oud Majestueux recently, so I pulled the trigger and I was once again riding the blind buy train.
I can't really smell the type of Oud I'm used to, or at least the one I know from other Oud scents in my collection. Probably this is the more "western friendly" type of oud, like someone wrote before, but I was hoping for a really strong oud note in this. I'm not saying I'm disappointed, is a fantastic creation from Mugler, but maybe my imagination was too far away from what I could get. Am I the only one? Is my nose oud-anosmic?
There is certainly a spiciness to this flanker (Saffron probably) and that makes this Alien one with an Oriental twist for sure, but not much oud to my nose. This is a love anyway.

JacquieDS

Can anyone tell me how does this compare to any of the Mancera/Montale Oud blend?
Thank you.

Sherine777

Egyptian Jasmine (my profile picture) is the most divine smell in the world to me. Period.
Sometimes I collect it and place it on my night stand to sleep surrounded by this magnificent scent. The smell of my childhood.

Sadly, no one was able to bottle this scent. As much as I tried, I never liked any Jasmine perfume, the list is long with L'Occitane Jasmine, CK Beauty, CD J'adore..etc So I steered away completely from dominant Jasmine perfumes, Alien included.

But then I wanted to try Oud but I felt that the common combo of Oud/Rose/Patchouli would be too heavy for an Oud starter so I was intrigued by Alien Oud. This is one of the rare occasions that I actually tested the perfume before buying it and it is amazing!

I won't talk about quality or longevity as this is well established, but here the combo of Jasmine and Oud is a marriage made in heaven, the Jasmine somehow tames the Oud and the Oud somehow tames the Jasmine.
It's a mysterious warm woody splendid Jasmine!

The result is beautiful, I found a Jasmine that I love AND my very first OUD perfume!

ApathyAngel

So I'm still a relative novice, and with a lot of these really popular or well-known notes, I have no idea what they smell like.

But as soon as I smelled this, I thought, "Oh! THAT'S oud!"

My aunt is from the Middle East, and one of my favorite people in the world. Visits with her always involved pajama parties, living room dance parties, makeovers, etc. She's the one who told me I have cool-toned skin when we were trying on hijabs, and she taught me how to wing my eyeliner.

And apparently, the scent she always wears is oud-heavy, because this immediately made me think of her. So it definitely has a pleasing, nostalgic feeling associated with it.

Objectively, I feel like oud is probably one of those notes that can either be super awesome or super horrible, depending on your skin chemistry and the fragrance formulation.

On me, this scent is utterly gorgeous. And it smells just like Alien, which I love, with oud added, which I now love. Also, being a fan of cashmeran and amber, this is heaven in a bottle.

Easier to wear than the original Alien, but still dark and deep and heavy. Luscious and sensuous.

I have four sample bottles, because I cannot get a full-sized one at the moment. But as soon as I can get my hands on a full bottle, this very well might become my new signature.

saltwaterhappy

Somehow similar to Alien Essence Absolue - but smokier and with a tiny masculine touch. So soft, sultry and creamy. Dark and warm. Very inviting.

Oudaddict

Bought this for my wife and I love the smell of it on her. She has been wearing it all summer and autumn and has received many many compliments. I hated the smell of the original Alien on her and I don't think that they are similar.

Pianomelody

This perfume is pure luxury! A trail that is powerful and penetrating,unforgettable,luxurious... for me this is a very refined fragrance, can stand out, know how to stand out with its power and magnificence! Very beautiful and unique!

It smells ok, similar to the one in the purple bottle, but it's far from oriental. I don't detect any Oud in this, luckily it was just a sample that i purchased... Names are so deceiving for marketing purposes.Thumbs down! All i get is a watered down vanilla on a soft woody base. Fail.....

Rosemary's Baby by Roman Polanski

Antares811

This is an amazing flanker!
It's like the original Alien but warmer, more sensual and more oriental thanks to the combo spices/oud.
Perfect for colder months.
Great lasting power and sillage.
Sexy.

Chazas

To me it is a true unisex, as it has heavier and have masculine touch of woodsy notes. It is like true Alien Man with original jasmine, amber Alien DNA. Close to niche.

Cherry_Darling

I remember this being more ambery in the store, but now that I sourced a sample and have it on, I feel it's a very loud dominant oud, not the soft kind but the harsher more authentic oriental kind. Cardamon is probably the second dominant note, the rest blend in unnoticeable. Oud softens on drydown, more earthy than loud or skanky. White florals come out later.

LiliaBetty

Today I layered this alien beast with my diorissimo the queen, hahhhhh!! Heavenly. As a 90s kitten, I don’t care if it’s too much and too loud. Hahhaha!

DBF85

I don't know why I do this to myself.

I smell a perfume. I like it. I read the notes. It has Jasmine (which I absolutely HATE). I buy it anyways.

Two years later, still struggling to finish the damn 90ml.

I adore Alien, and this Oud twist is beautiful but sometimes suffocating due to my hate towards Jasmine.

rola.asad

I gave up on trying Mugler fragrances, But!! Once I gave this one a try,,, OMG, this one is alien plus the luxuriousness of oud, so sensual so vampy so elegant and warm fragrance my first hit for bugler fragrances,,, absolutely a winter fragrance, and on the heavy side for sure!
not for day-to-day use!! but for a special occasion!
Edit 24/3/2018: somehow I find it mature scent!

LiliaBetty

This is my first mugler perfume. I was a little hesitant at first, but then I bought it after reading the reviews here on Fragrantica. I must say that this is my new found love and it did not disappoint at all.

Gwenhwyfar

There was a great sale on it in the duty free shop in London airport. I tested it there and liked it very much to the point of wanting to buy it right on the spot. But since I never before tried any fragrance with oud I just wanted to consider this scent a little bit longer than 5 minutes... Too bad I had a short connection and had to continue with my flight while still pondering if I should buy this or not. People say in reviews a lot that fragrances with oud are tricky and not for everybody, so I was cautious waiting for something weird in the development. But later on I regretted not taking a chance and buying this beautiful fragrance at an unbeatable price. It was amazing and strong on the initial spritz, the dry down was smooth, warm and woody, and the longevity was impressive as well. At least now I know that I like the oud note. At least in this particular fragrance. And it is true that it's a twin of original Alien. I don't own Alien, so this can be a more woody substitute which I would prefer to the original. You probably don't need both of them in the collection.

corkscrewcurly

I have to add my two penn'orth.

I think that - if you are used to oud in perfume - you will not find it to be an overwhelming note in this version of Alien.

I have and love a number of Alien iterations, including the original; oud here adds depth to an already wonderful fragrance.

The sillage and longevity of this are fairly monstrous though (greater than the original, I think), so take care not to do overdo as it will be TOO MUCH for you and any unfortunate bystanders. Two sprays (neck and once on wrists, rubbed together) maximum should do it.

noshant

I don't usually mind oud based scents. However the opening to this on my skin is straight up cat pee. Even the woody ambery dry down has an unpleasant sour note to it.

Undoubtedly strong and lasting, but as an Alien lover I really do not like this. It's just not for my skin chemistry and not for my nose.

DiaAnna

I do prefer the original Alien , the dry down of AOM is pretty sour and the initial blast unfortunately knocks me down in a bad way , it's a pity , I expected something different , for those who wonder if it's worth to get AOM my personal opinion is no , stick to Alien . Oh and the projection and lasting power are killers , this is strong !

orangepekoe

As soon as I tried this I was looking for the nearest washroom to wash it off. I don't know how this concoction can even be called perfume.

slavka.filipova

I love Alien so i thought i will love this too, tried this today and i have to say i don't like it much, maybe oud is not my scent but after 6 hours on my skin is good and kinda like it then. The lasting power is great like all Mugler perfumes. The bottle is gorgeous too, i wanted to love this so badly i even almost blind buy it.

SuzanneS

A oudy take on alien. It has more complexity than Alien. Jasmine subdued but present. Its warm and cozy but not going to bowl you over. It has that signature alien amber. If you are interested in exploring a tame oud...this is s good try. Sample first! Mirror Voluptes is much better oud in his line. IMO

PerfumeKing14

on me this dries down to the original alien edp so i couldn't justify paying for this when i have the original.. initial blast is different to alien edp but after that 10 minutes it's the same (on me)
however, for those who haven't got the original try them both & if you're new to alien this one maybe more for you but for me personally i wouldn't bother.

lepalm

I love this perfume but it's too close to the original for me to justify a full bottle purchase. I going to layer the original with an Oud attar to get this effect.

SheenSyke

I could definetly smell the oud and some weird smoky syrupy thing that just made me almost gag from how horrible it was. But it lasts a really long time for anyone whos wondering

Ouch!

I absolutely love the dry saffron blast you get from this in the immediate opening. If it stayed like that for longer? This would be an immediate winner for me. For the first time, I smell saffron in a fragrance that isn't too skanky. It's a gorgeous dry exotic saffron.

This is very fleeting though, because what happens straight after is the whoosh of original alien and Oud take over.
They are perfectly balanced, none ever over taking the other. I'm grateful for this because as a person who is iffy with oud in the first place? It's a refreshing change from the abundance of oud dominated perfumes on the market. They are intertwined very well.

The alien smooths out the oud, and the oud enhances the alien. I've always thought Alien had a middle eastern feel anyway so, the addition of oud just brings that out more, Alien and Oud seem to be a great match and get along very well. It's almost like they take turns in showing themselves. Sometimes I smell alien, sometimes I smell oud and other times they are both right there in the forefront.

I don't think it's much more complicated than that. If you know what Alien smells like? And you know what oud smells like..close your eyes...smoosh them together and you've pretty much got it. It doesn't need to be dissected any more than that!

Shame about that gorgeous opening being so fleeting though... :(

chrisstinna_b

I find this perfume similar to the initial Alien, but it has some "strange", out of this world, unique overtones (oud perhaps) and I think this makes it more suitable for the "Alien" title than the original one :)

Fragrance Review For Alien Oud Majestueux Thierry Mugler

Top Notes Cardamom Saffron

Middle Notes Jasmine Cashmere

Base Notes Agar Wood Oud Amber

Has this been discontinued? I pray it hasn't. Some of my friends have just learned to love the Alien fragrance line. I had this one when I bought a Liqueur de Parfum and Eau Extraordinaire. This is a fantastic oud Oriental fragrance. To my nose it's Alien the original only stepped up a notch with more woods. It has a strong oud which wears like the ouds in most Oriental Arabic oud perfumes I've experienced. To me the original Alien has something off about it. It's not bad but it was missing something. What it was missing was pure oud. This fragrance completes the notes that should have been in the original Alien. Majestic Oud opens with an instantly spicy aromatic scent of cardamom ginger and a saffron. Smells elegant, seductive and spicy. Unisex. It has that same indolic dark night jasmine as in Alien but here the cashmere wood takes over the middle phase of the fragrance. It's a very feminine feeling cashmere note and not terribly musky. The agar wood aroma begins to appear after the jasmine disappears. There is a long dry down and it lasts forever. All I smelled in the end was oud oud oud. It's an elaborate and well made oud and it took me by surprise. I highly recommend it. If you can find it online anywhere ebay or the Thierry Mugler website get it. Get it! You'll love it but you have to be a fan of oud and know what oud wears like on you. On me any note works but I'm different LOL

MysticRose

There's something about oud that irritates me, I think it's the hazy smokiness it gives off when I smell it; it's nice but can be slightly irritating/nauseating. Initially this smelled just like typical Alien and I was unimpressed. 20 minutes later and the oud kicked in; it was deep, musky and sensuous. An hour later and I was back to that odd feeling that oud gives me. It's a nice flanker but not for me. I would definitely love to buy it because the bottle has a gorgeous gold/bronze ombre effect going on but £115 in my opinion isn't worth it.

UpsidedownSarah

I ordered this with some trepidation considering its high price tag and my inability to obtain a sample. The reviews here encouraged me, and the original Alien is a huge love, so I took the plunge. I got my package and tore into it with glee only to realize--it was someone else's order! My heart sank. It took muglerusa.com almost a week to rectify the situation. Fortunately, the juice was worth the wait.....lovely warm smoky spicy ambery jasmine. After a few wearings, I did notice a sort of pervasive testosterone sweat vibe that bothered me a bit; undeterred, I kept trying it, telling myself that was probably the oud. Now it just smells all around wonderful. Glad I persisted with it.

allie kat

Matty64, thank you for your kind words. I'll try not be so gullible in future. I'm now trying to buy fragrances which I love, no more buying and hoping I'll grow to love them, I'm going to go with my first reaction.

olga_adriana

I'll write my second review on this. Now that I've worn it in the fall, I've had a really different experience with it than in the summer when I tried it for the first time.
In cooler weather, I really love this perfume. It's true that it's very reminiscent of the original Alien, but I definitely can smell the oud too, in fact I think it's blended really well. I find the Oud is more present at the opening, and the dry down is very similar to Alien, though I stiff get whiffs of the Oud.

This is strong stuff. It lasts all day and lingers on clothing for days afterwards.
I prefer this to the original Alien. I somehow find it less offensive, maybe less sweet, a little more sophisticated and mysterious.

Dark Curls

god do I want this - original alien is one of 'my' scents and I am over the moon for oud!!

allie kat

Big windows Oudy lol

Oudy

Lol...below....they saw you coming, didn't they

allie kat

I just bought this today in Arnotts in Dublin, the sales lady said they are the only stockist in Ireland and they would only be sent 12 bottles in total, ever!!!
I wasn't impressed by the tester bottle, I get that strong, bitter note that Olga_Adriana mentioned below. It's very bitter and strong, plain nasty really. But it's the new Alien and there's only going to be 12 bottles in Ireland, so I bought it. I hope that the unpleasantness disappears because at €139 there's no chance I'll be leaving it at the back of the shelf.
That note aside, yes, it's definitely Alien and all it will take for me to really like this is a compliment or two. Yes, I am that shallow but I knew that when I visited the store 3 times in one week to see if it had arrived. Highlight of my week was seeing it on the shelf.

hannah.reed.9085

Loooove it! Same as the original Alien with an added touch of dark wood/smoke. Plus the bottle is gorgeous!

Valy in the sky

I found it in the Munich Airport duty free shop but there was no tester and didn't want to blind buy...reading all your impressions I kind of wish I would..

genny17

Yes it is the same!! I asked my friend who lives in Paris,!!
I have it, great scent!!

LadiesRed

It's definitely a beauty. Where there's oud, there's smoke ;)

And this scent is a scent the is surrounded by a veil of smoke and precious notes of

warm wood and that distinct smell of amber....

The scent is still warm on the skin thanks to the cardamom and yields a beautiful yet

soft woody floral aura.

genny17

Great creation! A friend sent me a sample, so glad to try it!! Top notes are warmed by the oud, but not in an excessive way, this is not an oud bomb at all, the saffron is soft, and in the drydown, this becomes the Alien we all know, warm. Smooth. With a creamy Jasmine note...although I dislike most oud, I can definitely handle it here, as it isn't dominant, or cold..it is almost a casual scent, always high quality, with the amber that is part of Mugler signature.
Definitely on my want list!!
Update: I sold it, the saffron and oud in the top notes just didnt work for me!

Molko

I want Amen Pure oud edition too:)

maen

I just received Alien Oud Majestueux and I love it!!. It has the DNA of Alien without doubt, but with a twist. I can perceive mostly at first the Saffron mixed with the Jasmin, it has something fresh at the same time. As it dries it gets more woody, feminine and always with the Mugler's Alien signature.
The Jasmin here is with high quality, very natural, with a spicy edge.
Long lasting and noticeable, but very wearable. The Oud gives a warm aura, with the Amber.
I see it like very enigmatic and with big personality.

lilymorena

I love Alien and I would love to smell this one... maybe in the future a gourmand Alien with praline? Hummm and maybe lily and maybe... :)

Tamirah

The oud trend is showing no signs of slowing down... wonder what it will give way to? Still, I'm looking forward to testing this out.

jovejove

This is not his first oud fragrance.

Mr Cornells

Thierry Mugler has joined the Oud Trend too? Alright.
