Prague

In January 2004 I went to Prague in the Czech Republic for a weekend. The following photographs were taken during that time. Prague is the most beautiful city I have ever visited - the architecture is breathtaking. These photographs are only a tiny snapshot of a wonderful city as a weekend is nowhere near enough time to take in this magnificent place. If you have never been to Prague and are able to do so I urge you to go, you won't be dissapointed. I will return soon for at least a week so as to take in it's history and beauty. The weather during my visit was very overcast and grey with drizzly rain and light snow flurries. Not the best conditions for photography! Ive always loved Prague, I also think its the most beautiful city on earth. I hope it never changes along with other big cities. It would be a shame to see skyscrapers in the same photo with the Charles Bridge.

those are some really great pictures. i was in prague in january too, although i think i was there a little after you as the first full day i was there, it was brilliant sunshine, and then the rest of the weekend it was thick snow! it was also -13 degrees most of the time! Geoff, Thanks for this link in my Prague gallery, your pictures brought back some pleasant memories. I especially liked the squeezebox player. If you make it back I hope you are as lucky with the weather as I was last May. I found it was worth getting up as early as possible - not just for the usual reason of better light for photography, but to get to Charles Bridge and the Old Town before the crowds of tourists - the atmosphere is completely different than later in the day. Thanks Herb! It wasn't too cold, around 0 degrees C. The odd wind chill reduced that further though. Apparently 2 weeks ago it was -16C and 2 metres of snow!! Regards, Geoff.
