I want to love this but I just don’t.

The notes pulled me into a blind buy that I just don’t reach for much. It’s got a blast of alcohol to kick off, then a spicy vanilla-y dry down - which sounds great, but just doesn’t feel very distinct.

On the plus side, it lasts for a decent time and the notes sustained throughout the day.

I love other Carolina Herrera perfumes but this one isn’t my favourite. I couldn’t pick it out from a line-up.

Lol I am so glad I just bought a tester of this fragrance. No offense if anyone like this but I looked at the notes and thought ok right up my alley. A boozy floral vanilla. NO. If you think this is going to be vanilla floral rum nice smelling fragrance look elsewhere. This smells very mature & not for someone who's looking for a gourmand type of scent. Smells like pure white musk to me.

I got this as a present few years ago and it became the only perfume I reach for whatever the weather, season etc .. There are perfumes I can only wear certain moods , times of the year.This one I could wear all the time . It is elegant , the rum is beautiful and the way it all settles into vanilla and tonka bean is just sublime. I had 212 VIP sexy and found it very boring . I had 212 which was ok .. clean floral and all that but tbis one is memorable and elegant and sexy or at least for me. I would say the best way to describe it is elegant.. Also you have to give it time on your skin.. and it doesn’t perform greatly on paper tester ..
Longevity is at least 6, 8 hours on me and on clothes like scarfs litterally until you wash them but I am an oversprayer .. sillage is great too ..

This is going to sound weird but this reminds me of a Barbie doll I had as a kid . Barbie came with some glitter gel for her hair and it smelled like this perfume 🤩 I had that Barbie on a summer holiday so it is a positive memory .

At first, it hit me strongly and I thought I won't like it buuut I was so wrong :) One of my favorite fragnance after so many years. Perfect for cold weather, long duration - I can spray it on around lunchtime and still smell it the next morning. Great great great.

This smells like a very sexy Cuba libre cocktail in the best way, but replace the lime with the passionfruit.

I really like this fragrance! I think it's both fresh and warm, also sweet with a kick. However, be careful to not overspray this one. I did that once at work (I work in healthcare lol oopsie) and it bothered me my entire shift. Haven't worn it since, because I now have that memory connected to it lol. If it's was one of the only perfumes I had, I would have definitely worn it again tho. It's just that I have such a big collection, so I had an excuse to skip it lmao.

warm rum in your throat & vanilla with passionfruit

For me it’s not sweet at all, such a strong scent, I do not like this…

212 VIP smells like a delicious sweet rum cake, like a vanilla sponge cake soaking and seeping in a sweet sugared liquid rum sauce with a layer of carmelized sugar drizzled on top.
Vanilla cake… sweet sugary rum reduction… carmelized sugar coating… delicious! Yum!

Update: I also detect a hint of apple cider vinegar or apple brandy?... some type of apple liqueur note that reminds me of Kilian Angel's Share perfume.

One of the most sexy perfume ever. This is always in my collection and I never get bored with it. Perfect for a date, feminine and seductive. Totally recommend it.

When I first tried this I loved it immediately. So sweet and yummy yet elegant. But I learned that you should never trust the love at first sniff with perfume. I have only used this few times and I already experience migraine attack. I have to shower and wash my clothes. I love gardenia and musk but this just feels so unmemorable but sickly sweet. Like a whole perfume store fell on me. No thanks.

Wore this in my late teens and into my 20's. Love the alcoholic top note, it has a very simple combination of notes that come together to great effect. Absolutely no lasting power, though, which disappoints me every time I spray it on my skin. Within an hour or two it's dried down into vanilla and nothing else. The vanilla in question is not synthetic, it's a very natural, high quality, warm vanilla that won't give anyone a headache.
On clothes the floral note seems to come through and it sits beautifully there to no avail because it has little to no sillage on fabric.
I love a feminine scent where the main feature isn't sweetness and this is one of those. I still love it even though it's an absolute shame how little it lasts. It's just not worth the money despite how nice it smells because no one will get to smell it with no longevity and no sillage!

Reading the comments I feel I didn't receive the same fragrance as everyone else. Mine is barely there, 1 hour after spraying 212 Vip Gold is like I am not wearing perfume. I blinded bought this one because I have 212 Vip Rose and LOVE IT. It’s gorgeous, long-lasting and somehow classy.

rum passionfruit & musk but it gets more boring as it goes on

This to me is a very autumn/winter scent. It's very heavy and lasts a long time on the skin. Main notes I get are musk and rum, maybe a tiny hint of gardenia. Honestly if you don't like heavy mature scents this probably won't be for you.

This is too musky and rummy for me. I don't really like it, it also smells a little bit too mature for me (I'm 21). I was expecting way more vanilla. It's just not for me. There's sth too sharp about it, kind of like a metal smell? I'm not sure. It's not horrible but it's not very good either.

Ok call me crazy but this is what happened: a friend came smelling very nice and I instantly thought "I know this smell". It reminded me of something. But I couldn't place it. She gave me the bottle to smell, which she had in her bag. Same feeling.
A while after she left, it came to my mind: one of the Chanel Exclusives that I used to have. Maybe the floral aspects of Cuir de Russie (minus the leather of course).
Am I totalmente crazy here???
Now I need to try this CH again.

This could have been a really great fragrance. Thr notes sounded amazing. Maybe i am partially anosmic. I thought this could be a more tropical type of scent, as in similar to JPG Classique EDP but with passionfruit. Some elements of the fragrance are nice, but 1) I can barely smell it and 2) there is something slightly dirty and almost play-doh to my nose. It's not the worst fragrance in the world, but I am feeling quite "meh."

This is an amazing scent but basically gone right after I spray it.. too bad and definitely not worth the money

I did not purchase this, it was just one of those weird situations when you place an order for something and you receive additional stuff you didn't order. My order arrived on time and complete, but it had this little bottle which was not on the shipping manifest or in my order, so I think either the clerk messed up or someone has found a novel way of getting rid of unwanted inventory. To me this is a unisex fragrance, and not a memorable one at that. While I enjoy musks and white florals, these smell a bit too artificial and cloyingly sweet. The dry down reminds me of this woman I used to work with, who thought that she could successfully hide the stench of cigarettes and hours of gossip in the smoking corner by dabbing herself in lily of the valley essential oils. Not a pleasant memory. The lasting power is amazing, though, if you like this scent. Personally, I find it a bit cheap and obvious.

I don't like the opening at all, it smells a lot like rum, but I do love the dry down, it smells like vanilla and passionfruit 💯

I am starting to think I got a fake because this perfume didn't wow me whatsoever.

It smells like passionfruit flavoured rum and that's pretty much it. Sometimes it opens super masculine with a slight menthol tinge, and other times I don't smell anything at all. Just a vague blast of perfume-y smells.

It does soften a little to this gentle vanilla with a fruity touch, but it's just nothing special to me at all. I've tried this on three separate occasions and I just don't care about it. I was expecting a plush, fruity vanilla scent that's made especially for glamorous sex-bombs and flirty girls in nightclubs or at parties, but this was just super bland and uninspiring on me. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing offensive about it. Reminds me of a slightly more boring version of Rihanna's Riri. However Riri was one of my favourites back in my teen years and this doesn't even come close.

Thankfully it wasn't too expensive, and I'll be selling mine on.

sweet, plush and golden. think same category as fancy, girl of now and turbereuse mystique. verges on cloying, but still lovely and wearable.

This reminds me of Mojitos! Kind of a sweet, rum-based cocktail scent which instantly makes me think of holidays. It's a fun scent for an hour or 2 but not sure if I would want to wear it all day long. Maybe just a bit too sweet for me as there is a strong vanilla base note but would happily wear it on a night out.

Smells like yellow marshmallows -

This is bold as it first goes on, will take awhile to see how this is blending with my chemistry. I was drawn to this line when I asked a girl what she was wearing and she said that she was wearing the 212 VIP in Rose'.

The original VIP 212 - is more of the yellow juice - and Rose' is more of a pink rose' color.

There is a yellow vibe to this, I can see why they would have picked that color to introduce this fragrance. I will have to try this side beside my other yellow perfumes - Lady Millionaire, Cash, Jessica Simpson's Vintage Bloom.

I pick up the yellow vibe first - then the woodsy notes (I can see where someone is mentioning Euphoria, because that also has a lot of woodsy notes too... but is a slight bit more yellow and fruity.

(This is not as lemon as Valentino's Donna Rosa Verde' - however, that goes really sweet lemon drop candy - lemon. I'm trying these now at the same time and Donna Rosa Verde' has notes in it that make it go more spa like, more airy).

I'm trying this now with a sample of 3 VIP fragrances by Carolina Herrera.

Update:

Both of the Carolina Herrera perfumes (the 212 VIP Rose' and the 212 VIP) have an amazing chemical reaction to the skin which happens after the initial spray begins to meld into the skin - at about 30 minutes to 45 minutes into wear. I smell the 212 VIP DNA in common with both of these, they are slightly different but lean in different directions with about a 20% difference as this dries down. They start out much more different and as this wears, they are more alike than I would have first thought.

An hour into the wear of this - and this is blending into my skin with amazing chemistry that was certainly not evident upon the first spray. I love these interactive type perfumes which unfold over time with your own chemistry. This perfume, I was totally neutral on until I could see that this is setting up in a very sensual way with my chemistry.

Time will tell if this is really something that I like or love.
The more time this is on the skin, the better this smells -- this is surprising, because I didn't think that I would like this as much as I do, till letting this settle into the skin more.

Verdict -

This is good, but is not setting up on my skin as well as the VIP 212 Rose' -
The final dry down is a bit too sweet for me, it is almost headache inducing.
But you may be able to wear this.
This could be my chemistry.

Reminds me of Gucci Guilty which I have loved for many years. VIP 212 is full of energy and is so sexy, playful, fun. Ready to party definitely! It is not a perfume to wear for dinner, at the office, in the park. It is for a romantic date, an adventurous road trip, a gettaway by the fireplace. It smells exciting, warm and luxurious.

Pricey, very synthetic, and awful it made me feel very sick I got it as a Christmas present. What an awful experience it took me hours to take it away from my skin, really gross and overpriced. I don't like it at all!

212 was an underwhelming perfume form my perspective.

The scent is something forgettable. I am unable to even comment on which tones were hitting the nose or anything of that sort of nature due to the fact that the idea of it left my mind as soon as it was applied.

The longevity was also a disappointment, it starts to dissipate within the hour which I feel for the price is a rip off.
I received the version that comes with a black and gold bag, which I must say I never used. The bag is cheap and tacky looking much like the perfume. The bag itself didn't even have the brand marking on it therefore could easily be mistaken for a charity shop sequin mess.
The perfume was shaped like a bullet so didn't stand up on any perfume display.
Overall 1/10

This just disappears on me, and I'm kinda thankful for that because for me there is nothing special about this fragrance. I've been using 212 VIP day and night, but it won't last more than 2h on me. I honestly think this is going to be my new fragrance for sleeping. Everyday I spray Nina Ricci Luna on my bed (that won't fix on my skin for anything in this world), and I'll start spraying this one on my body before I go to bed, so I can sleep on a gourmand paradise. But this is it. This is a sleepy, cozy, sweet scent, and I actually don't get what is "VIP" about this fragrance. I would NEVER put this on to go out.

I have quite an old bottle - from ~ 2016. Its sparkling sweet and boozy. Judging by the notes - not for me at all, yet it’s fantastic and I love it. Vanilla is dense and it doesn’t turn into dirty body scent on me (as it happens with other vanilla frags). Rum is tasty, musk is soft. One of my favorites for sure, although I tend to take some breaks from it. After each break I like it even more :) it stays for hours on skin and for days on the clothes, it’s a very good frag for outdoor parties, but it is also indoor-safe. It will fill the room with poshy vibe.

My signature scent in the last 4 years. It’s sexual, bold,glamorous and I adore it.Is great for a date night or special occasions. I wear this more in the summer nights, I don’t see this suitable for winter. Doesn’t matter how many other perfumes I have I still come back to this one, I never can get enough of this scent.What I don’t like is that on my skin stays only maximum 2 hours. For the price it should stay more.

This is my ultimate favourite perfume and has become somewhat of a signature for me. it’s strong at first but dries down into that sweet warm vanilla rum scent that stays on your clothes. it just works for me and is sweet and feminine without being childish or overly girly.

When I first spray this... it is not good. But moments later it starts to dry down into such a pleasant vanilla rum scent that just gets more delicious as the day goes on. You still get whiffs of it from your clothing hours and hours later on. I was looking for something similar to Riri and this was suggested to me. This is not as fruity and is a little more mature. Sometimes when I get a whiff of it, it is a little more powdery than I'd like, just a tiny bit too mature smelling for my tastes at times. But all in all I really like this perfume and will continue to wear it when I'm wanting to feel delicious and sensual.

I didn’t think I’d ever find something I hate more than La Vie Est Belle but this one takes the #1 spot. I’m not getting any of these fruity, feminine notes you guys are speaking of.

It starts out okay but after a few minutes on my skin this turns into a sharp powdery mess of a fragrance. The powdery quality is such that it’s extremely suffocating and headache-inducing. That combined with the sweet notes make it entirely unbearable.

Maybe it’s just my skin chemistry but this is without a doubt, the worst fragrance I’ve ever had the displeasure of putting on my skin.

For context, I work in a fragrance shop and try a lot of different fragrances on and I’m always testing. I have a very high tolerance and there are not many things I dislike. Not a safe blind buy. Try this on your skin first.

This scent is sweet and fruity, so it brings the tropical vibe alright. And indeed the scent delivers the young and creative part of the passage expected.

The top note is pretty sweet, as sweet as you expect when it comes to passion fruit. After that, the scent settles into something soft, a richer dry down scent coming from musc, tonka, and vanilla.

The scent is not too light or simple for it to be easily dismissed off and it is not too heavy for a place which air can go heated up easy and is often lacking oxygen.

Despite the name, I believe that this one can pass as day time frag. This scent can go for year-round, it is not too offensive to be worn in the summer and it's still pleasant to put on in the winter. Sillage is moderate, longevity can be better though.

This fragrance is just HEAVEN. I'm on my sixth bottle (or something like that) and i will keep buying it for eternity.

This one is for gourmand, sweet, boozy lovers. You get sweet passionfruit and vanilla from the moment you spray it. Also you can really smell the rum, not too overbearing but just enough to give it a kick.

When you spray this, you will constantly want to smell your own wrist (or wherever you spray) because it's that addictive.

This will get you lots and lots of compliments!

It's my signature fragrance and although i don't use it as often as i used to, i keep it for special occasions or for sexy time ;)

I also love it that it's not a very known fragrance like La Vie est Belle because you will really stand out when wearing this.

Longevity is great, you get at least 8-10 hours on the skin (on clothes even longer) and projection is also quite good. Be prepared for people to come up to you and smelling you haha

10/10 would recommend (but maybe test it first because it's quite sweet and boozy)

I got this perfume from my husband as a present. Never has he bought me a perfume again:-). I really hate CH perfumes, and this one just confirmed my negative opinion of them. The fragrance is a very bad blend of vanilla and musk and smells really cheap. The only good ( bad) thing is that it is very long lasting on my skin.

Bought this again for my wife recently. Not only is it weak compared to what it was but it also smells very different to how it used to. Almost straight to the musk element for me now. Terrible, will not rebuy after this.

I believe this has been reformulated. I had this fragrance back in 2012, and it was different compared with a sample I recently got in a store.
The opening and the first 15-30 min. seem to resemble. I do get the rum, the vanilla and the passion fruit, with hints of tonka. But what comes after is almost nothing like I remembered. A sweet sort of a boozy note. Nothing else... Where is the glamorous, sparkling, golden fragrance that I love?...

I love this, I don't even know why cause it's nothing close to the type of fragrances I wear usually but I love it. A love at first spray, for sure.

Edit: 21/5/2020 I finally got myself a 50ml bottle of this, but I don't like it as much as I loved it when I had the miniature :(
I am really disappointed, not sure why it smells different to me, the miniature one (dab-on) I still have and it still smells addictively sweet and boozy but when I use my 50ml bottle (spray) it just smells plain sweet, warm and boring. Could the method of applying fragrance determine its performance? I'm certainly upset because I thought 212 VIP would be my new go-to sweet scent but I guess I'll have to go back to my old love Bon Bon from Viktor & Rolf now.

Smells like a bad old lady scent. Thumbs down. Not my style or preference. I’m not sure where people get gourmand or sweet out of this. It made my eyes water.

You need a sweet tooth for this one. I get a sweet rum cocktail with a splash of sweet vanilla and passion fruit. It does smell delish that's for sure.
I'm disappointed though that it doesn't have much depth or have decent longevity. The sillage isn't good in this cool room so it can be forgiven.
It turns watery so quickly.
I would have to spray this all over to try and make it last a few hours. It wouldn't have been around long when I was dancing the salsa with a goucho on a warm night in Cuba a few years back.

Second chance, second glance.
This was first a disappointment to me, later a guilty pleasure and now it's my go to scent.

Seriously, if you're a sucker for a good quality fruity scent, like I am, try it. I like Amouage Sunshine, SL Feminite du Bois, Girl gone Bad by Kilian and such normally that have fruits and a woody base. And this won my heart. Day and night, fruity rum, pleasant creamy dry down. A classy fruity fragrance in an affordable price range.

I am kind of dissapointed in this because i was anticipating a very different scent based on the notes. But yes, its a little boozy but not enough to take notice, little almost citrusy? I get sort of men's cologne vibe from it. it really doesnt showcase vanilla and tonka in anyway, its not very sweet but has more of a drier feeling if you will. It does have prominent white florals so maybe thats part of the problem
after i sprayed it for the first time, my husband walked in the bedroom and said "it smells like men's cologne in here".
I asked male coworker the next day if he got the same impression and he said it does kind of smell unisex and men could easily wear this.

As you first spray it you get the passion fruit. Then after some minutes it ddevelops its sweetness comming from the Tonka I guess. I can t detect the vanilla neither the rum. Overall is pleasant perfume, safe and nothing special. If is not something I have never smelled before. Sweet in a strange way. Good for day and night, summer and winter.

I used my last few drops of VIP last night just before getting into bed.
This perfume is so charming, I can't put into words how good this actually smells!
You'd need to try it, it's boozy and slightly creamy, a little bit powdery.
Waking up this morning I could smell traces of it, it's all over my blanket too.
I may need to buy myself another bottle.
You can wear this during the day & night. It won't offend anyone.
212VIP is worth having, just try it, I'm not saying go out and buy it, sample it & walk away.
I can guarantee you'll be sniffing your wrist or test strip.

Once, I smelled a girl in a restaurant... A prominent liquour, a pleasant acidity and sweet in the most seductive way. And it smelled very pricey which didn’t relate to her style. I asked her. Hearing the name (Herrera perfumes isn’t what I associate with taste, plus “VIP”...) I doubted to ever buy it. But here I am after several hesitations in the store (where I couldn’t test the scent btw) I decided to go for it. It was smelling so nice on this lady... so I ignored the fact that it has an embarrasing name and took it home. That was 2 hours ago and I am smelling it on my skin right now: cheapy, average, musky floral and passionfruit. Almost like Miami Glow by jlo. I would never wear it to a club where I am on the guest list. My man said something like you get what you give and yeah... I spent 20€ on it so I shouldn‘t even complain. I just don’t understand the magic of the girl in the restaurant and her scent.

Edit: Some weeks and tests later… Yes, it contains too much mushy musc but I would wear it to a club and confess I did this scent a little wrong in my review. I am now spraying it before bed, on weekends, enjoying the rum, enjoying the perfumey but comforting and youthfull/sexy sillage.
Compliment getter.

A sexy, playful combination of rum, vanilla and passion fruit. Good for a night out. This is sweet, but in a balsamic way. Nice! The passion fruit however tends to smell a bit bitter/musky on my skin.
This smells a lot like Lancome Hypnose, but where Hypnose is the introvert one, 212 VIP is definitely extravert and outgoing.
Sillage is moderate, longevity is about 5-6 hours.

My husband loves this on me. He normally loves Chanel, Tom Ford, Dior and Jo Malone, so I was surprised when he immediately said he loves this. I’m definitely going to be wearing it a lot! I love when he thinks a fragrance is amazing on me.

I’ve owned it a couple years and only worn it a couple times. It’s a lovely fragrance, and the rum is nice alongside a clean gardenia and the tropical passion fruit. Usually for winter and fall, I like a bolder fragrance. But I think the compliments this garners means it works on me, so it’s now a love!

Looks like all the 212 bottles but gold. The gold does match with the scent.

Inside the bottle:
When sprayed you get a strong scent of rum along with vanilla and tonka bean. When dried you smell the sweet passionfruit with the gardenia and the musk becomes pretty strong but not enough to be harsh. Longevity is really good can last till the next day.

Overall:
This scent is a some what dark sexy and confident scent. Good for going out on the town or date night. It's very alluring. Lady million might be similar to it but except the strong floral smell this one is more on the sweeter side. If your a fan of dark, sweet, strong and spice scent I would check this one out!

Its so gorgeous...the bottle is just grand..then lets move on to the scent...i just love how the combinations of simple notes can contribute to this wonderful piece....i got pure vanilla with a hint of rum ...it blends so well with my body chemistry as it lasts all day...i mean it just became my signature perfume of 2017....simply 9/10

Finally got my hands on this. It's heavy on the rum which I am happy about. Very edgy and rocker type fragrance. Perfume for night out or a sexy day out with friends.

I love how it smells on my friend, but on my skin, it's a horror movie! Only 212 NYC works great with my skin chemistry, all of the other CH's fragrances smell the same on me - something sweet mixed with alcohol, trying to kill my nose.

It smells kinda tropical thanks to passion fruit, but I wouldn't call this fragrance exotic. Because I also feel rum and vanilla. And in result in smells a little bit gourmand.

I rather like this fragrance. Only I'm not too impressed to buy it for myself.

I think CH wanted to follow the footsteps of PR Lady Million when it comes to the character of a fragrance. But in my opnion Paco Rabanne executed his golden bottle a bit better.

Here I get strong rum and fruity combo in the opening and we are talking about seriously strong rum. The drydown brings a bit of musk and vanilla undertone. For me this is overly sweet. It is trying to play on a gourmand note for sure, I get the message, but it's like lost in the translation. Obviously CH needed this one before creating a proper gourmand such as Good Girl.

It's lovely, it smells rich and interesting. My top favorite 212 sexy is the reason to explore the rest of the 212's and see if they're as good as it is. They shine with their own glow and I love both VIP and NYC. Sexy will remain my biggest desire though. Vip is interesting, unique because of the liquor note, mixed with vanilla and musk. I like it the first 5 minutes and I love it afterwards. Definitely a gem. The sillage and the longevity again, not as strong as in 'Sexy'.

this one makes me smile .. first its like tropical juice, but with time it gets a more natural and nice uniqe smell , it remind me really of summer sun beach cocktails

Love this one and love it even more as I got it for a bargain price. It is sweet but not cloyingly sweet as some of the other vanilla gourmands can be. Very good for daytime and nightime use, pretty inoffensive, wish that sillage would be stronger but anyway, it definitely gets thumbs up from me!

Although I am not into liquor gourmand scents, I find this very impressive. I believe the supporting notes of passionfruit, tonka, vanilla and gardenia appeal to me but still have no desire to give it a full wearing.

Being a bartender in the past and smelling hard liquor many nights, this is still too strong on the rum note for my liking.

I can see many ages wearing this fragrance for a night out.

I'm wearing it right now. When I first sprayed it on, I got an explosion of juicy overripe mangoes...yes, mangoes that are very ripe are very sweet, a little tart and they have a slightly bitter boozy smell (and taste) to it. That's exactly what 212 VIP smells like...not rum...not to my nose anyway...just very ripe mangoes. Later on in the dry-down I get a creamy warm vanilla, gardenia, woods and a trace of soapy musk, but with the mangoes still lingering around prominently (and getting on my nerves a little). It's nice, but too juicy-fruity for my liking, it doesn't excite me and is nothing special. I imagine this would be good for 20 somethings to go clubbing with or on a fun girl's night out. But there are better scents for that out there.

I believe that this fragrance had mixed reviews and I found it to be more of a chemistry-matched fragrance. While to some others this fragrance seemed to not work well or smells rather terrible, plastic, overly cloying sweet or strong, On me, it smells entirely nice from the moment i spray till it hits the dry down. The opening is fruity creamy, from passion fruit and the rum with hints of vanilla. As the scent developed to its dry down it turned into this airy soft musky vanilla scent. Warm and sensuous but not overpowering at all, perfect match for a modern urban scent for day or night. The staying power is medium but I do not mind re-applying over again and i wore this on a hot tropical climate on just one spritz to test how long it will last on my skin.

This perfume does not smell like a club queen fragrance, as the name and bottle design would suggest. Rather, it's wearable as a daytime mildly fruity vanilla that is very pleasant and easy to smell. It is a disappointment and let down for me, but I don't absolutely hate it. The fragrance does smell like rum, but there is zero booze in it. It's 0% alcohol for the kids and teenagers to drink! It is rather flat and unidimensional. Passionfruit only appears in the top notes to add extra zest, but even that doesn't do a very good job at lifting the fragrance up. The vanilla here only serves to add flavour and creaminess to the rum, and offers no vanilla extract-type of excellence to the composition. At least there's a bit of hay-like coumarin in there to keep this fragrance from being SO flat. The rest of the drydown is basically a thin virgin vanilla rum, with [bordering dryer sheet] clean white musk. Lasting power is about average at 6 hours, though it becomes a skin scent rather quickly. Sillage is low-medium.

Sorry for the overly negative review, but this was a huge let down for me. It held so much promise from a design standpoint, in all its golden glory with a nice, heavy magnetic cap that clicks into place with a satisfying snap. Paco Rabanne's 1 Million has flashy packaging too, but the juice inside at least somewhat matched with how it was portrayed through the bottle design and advertising. I question if I've become anosmic to something in here, because that little extra something is missing entirely--kind of like a neutered animal that got its testicles removed. It is flat and boring, but I will at least commend it for not being entirely generic (though it is rather familiar). I WILL say that I tend to like more va-va-voom, flashier scents, so someone who either loves softer fragrances or don't even like to wear perfume will appreciate this! There are more exciting options in Carolina Herrera's line of fragrances, such as 212 Sexy and 212 VIP Rose (which is my favourite) that can definitely be club bangers.

I blind bought this at TJ Maxx on clearance for $18, and I don't think I would have paid more, based SOLELY on the fact that for my personal taste, the bottle comes across as cheap and tacky. But I just personally prefer bottles with more classic design like Chanel or Dior or Guerlain, and even Lancome - a bit classic. I've been looking at this at TJ's for weeks though (we don't have a fragrance counter anymore #countrylifeproblems) because I LOVE rich vanillas right now and a blizzard is blowing in, so boozy vanilla was perfect for today! I'm SO glad I gave it a try.

I definitely get the rum and passionfruit right from the start, and then the vanilla - I find the pyramid pretty right-on. I don't pick out gardenia, but I think that's good because often it's a cloying note to my nose. As the rum and passionfruit fade a bit, the vanilla and tonka develop and they all stay softly blended from then on. I've had this on for 4 1/2 hours right now and I can still smell it- the sillage is not huge, but I think for the first couple hours it probably leaves a noticeable trail.

I love this in cold weather, and I feel like the passionfruit gives it enough of a tropical/exotic note that you could do this for summer nights as a fun change. Definitely an any-time choice for fall and winter and cool, early spring days. Just wishing the bottle was more elegant but I'm sure lots of people find it fun.

I ended up returning this even though I love orientals/spices/vanillas. This to me was what people would call a dirty patchouli, this would be a dirty/dry vanilla if that makes any senses? I thought it was "ok" but even cheap on clearance not ok a like enough to keep it. Boo as this had reviews that made me excited to try and find this!

It is very warm, however I would ware it in summer with no hesitation. It is boozy, sexy and expensive.

this perfume had me very puzzled in the beginning. i didnt really like it that much, but i wore it again recently and fell in love with it.
for me it's a musky white honeyed floral with some vanilla and a note that i cant really place,it could be the passion fruit. it lasts a long time. it might become overpowering if you spray a lot, for me just two sprays are enough. it blends very well with my skin and it's very attractive both during day and nighttime. it also doesnt smell cheap at all.
im glad i have this another try after two years. i think if you like sweet musky perfumes youre going to like this one too, but try it in the store first

I loved the scent when i first got it however after using it everyday for 5 months i got sick of it. But at first I was in love with it. I get so many compliments whenever I wore this. I recommend you to try it in a store

A great everyday scent for the cooler weather. Its uncomplicated and smooth. I struggle to find the 'VIP' aspect of this scent...I would not say there is anything overly fascinating, powerful, talented or inspiring about it...but it IS beautiful. Writing that last sentence has helped me find the connection with a lot of proposed VIP's after all....lols

I've been using this fragrance since four years ago, and for my is a hassle-free but charming perfume. It is a perfume with a very stable intensity, (does not have a nothing complex structure, clear is) sweet vanilla in large proportion, with a touch of praline and a hint of floral tone. Marinated in that "borrachín" touch not very dry. It is very wearable and it runs great, but enough my perception of it changes depending on the time of year in which the use. Find it me more airy and cheerful in the summer and much creamier in winter. Where I find it infallible regardless of the season, is at night. She unleashes her sensuality when the sun goes down, becoming SUPER attractive. It has unfortunately due to be quite re-formulada, put that you marketed is today nothing has to do with the original fragrance. I dosificaré what I have :)

Very strong rum and vanilla notes for the first sniff, but almost no change after hours, which is interesting. And also, I dont sniff passion fruit.

This is just another musky sweet generic scent. The musk is really heavy in this and not very nice

So disappointed! I wanted to love this. Vanilla rumm is just my style, especially in winter in Alaska. Nope. What I get with my body chemistry is gardenia and musk, then vanilla and practically no sillage. Maybe I'll save it for summer then try it again.

Although 212 VIP is supposed to have minimal, if any, floral notes, the drydown distinctly smelled like roses on me, with a hint of baby powder. I dislike floral scents and was drawn to the rum/vanilla/tonka bean notes in the description. Unfortunately, I had to return it.

I got this some years ago when I had just started getting into perfume. I fell in love with the bottle and the boozy vanilla but I never wore it a lot. Today i rediscovered it from the back of my perfume wardrobe and sprayed it on a warm, sunny day. The vanilla was definitely there, but what I got was GARDENIA and so much of it! It was refreshingly beautiful and while the sillage was good enough, it never turned overwhelming even in warm weather. Gentle, sweet Gardenia with fluffy, warm, powdery vanilla and a hint of passionfruit. This perfume deserves a rebranding since that whole VIP thing is deceptive and misleading.

A nice, non-offensive evening scent. On me, this is a musky vanilla rum. I do get that strong punch of rum in the beginning, but definitely dries down to a vanilla musk.

I wish I got some of the fruity notes, but for me, there are none.

I think this will be beautiful for cold winter evening nights out on the town. I look forward to updating my review then.

I just got it, on skin is more fruity and sultry than on the paper, still beautiful, perfect for summer.

I can't like this one. I've tried it billions of times and every time all I want to do is scrub it off. The sweetness in this perfume feels heavy. Like a hot stuffy sauna. It's not comforting or delicate. It's for the type of girl who wears lots of dark eyeliner and doesn't mind one bit when it smudges. She's a bit of a badass and likes to be life of the party so the name seems fitting. It's very perfume-y in the same way Lady Million is. I cannot do either, sadly! My party crazy little sister loved it when I gifted it to her. Can't win them all! VIP Rosé is definitely my favorite from the CH line.

Perfect for ocasions like graduation, and stuff. Wonderful in rainy days. It's really wonderful perfume, you feel calm when you smell this, it has passionfruit but it's fresh too. I will get the biggest bottle from macy's. I think they will discontinue this cause I see that just macy's has it and just one size. So I'm at hurry to buy it. Notes goes gradually
At first you get passionfruit and dry rum, after that efreshing gardenia, and at the end givenchy type of vanilla. Great.

white flowers drenched in sweet alcohol is what this smells like. its super good. my sister had a bottle and i didnt get enough of the smell. i defo need to get this for myself!

Nose-blowing experience and the olfactory bulb receptors in my frontal brain lobe seem to be quite enthusiastic! First of all, this is not an original fragrance, but it's intoxicating in all the good ways! I don't own the perfume, I just got a free sample while buying another perfume. I tried it when I got it and left it on for about 6 hours, but I will run the ultimate test tomorrow, when I'll wear it for a full day to check longevity, sillage and, obviously, reaction from people... It'll be quite daring, as this has 'night' written all over. However, for some reason, it doesn't seem that heavy for day wear, and this is coming from somebody whose nose isn't usually fond of sweet heavy perfumes, is a 31 year-old and a smoker. But the pungency and scented rum and woody warmth slightly annihilates the sweetness. I am at least intrigued towards a smell-trance at first sniff, which is why I leave this review here.

Is absolutely gorgeous, it does have a bit of 'aftermath of the party' boozy waft. I love it, but it's perhaps better for night as I worry people think I'm an alcoholic when I wear it first thing in the morning.

Once when wearing it, I had a very tipsy man tell me that I smelled delicious and he wanted to eat me up. Suspect it may have been the rum note coming out in the perfume ...

I acquired this on my search for a boozy fragrance. This was a total fail on my skin. All I got was a vaguely sweet waxy plastic vibe. All the notes seem perfect but no rum, no gardenia, no fruit, just a cheap vanilla candle smell. I gave it to a relative and while it started out rather plain vanilla on her, it morphed into this rummy vanilla sexiness that many have described and I was seeking. She like it so much she took it with her on a cruise that following week. Sadly, Once again I lost the battle of skin chemistry with this one. If it works for you it is really lovely. I eventually found my boozy holy grail with MMM Jazz Club.

I love the rum note, it's so outstanding, this perfume does not remind me of any other. It's not the smell you just like and then forget, it's the smell you remember.
The longevity is good and the sillage is great. I also love the bottle.

This is one of the strongest perfume that I own and yet, one of the sexiest! On me, the vanilla & passionfruit are prominent on the first spritz... can't stop sniffing! Surprisingly, it has a masculine hint as it develops esp. on the drydown probably it's the comb. of musk & rum -- but i still like it!!

Only downside is longevity, only abt 2 hrs on me but I don't mind re-application if that's the way to experience the twist :)

I tried a dupe of this first and fell in love with the pink pepper and vanilla so I saved up to compare my knockoff to the original. Amazingly, the dupe contains nearly ALL the notes of the original but this is even longer lasting and more complex than its cheaper little sister.

For some reason, I never get the coveted rum note but that's fine with me since the pink pepper, spices and vanilla more than make up for it.
When I hold my wrist up to my nose I detect an unlisted cinnamon note that balances out the spices nicely & the passion fruit/gardenia come through softly in the background with the drydown.

I don't just like this perfume- I LOOOOVE it!! It blends beautifully into my skin and lingers for hours!
Time to save up and invest in an even bigger bottle. :)

What can I say? A gourmand sweetheart drowned in the rum and passionfruit. I really really liked it. I really enjoy myself wearing this at my office. Still testing it, this does not offend anyone. In fact, people constantly ask me what am I wearing

Well, so far, my opinion from 7 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. was "hmmmmm.....smells pretty good, nothing phenomonal, waiting....waiting....waiting, sniff sniff, still good, but not overwhelmingly-good" By lunchtime, I could not discern it's presence on my wrist or my neck, hair or clothes. I LOVE the iDeA of the rum! I do plan to try it again tomorrow to see if my nose can pick it up.

I was disappointed because I've been buying a bunch of 80's Ladies! scents like Moschino Moshino, Fath de Fath, Estee Lauder Aliage, Van Cleef Van Cleef, Casmir Chopard, and my favorite totally-GONE fragrance, Laura Biagiotti "Venezia" and this one is not THAT kind of scent.....although the notes led me to believe it might be.

So, not bad at all. Pleasant and pedestrian (so far on my 1st attempt) .....but I like big-hair, power-ballad, muscle-car kind of fragrances .......

Why can't I just like easy peasy department store current scents? I always LOVE the ones they discontinue (Krazy Krizia, Chiara Boni, Lou Lou, Escada Collection, Escada by Escada edp version and the list above in paragraph 1). Recently, I liked Kate Walsh Boyfriend with it's deep, musky, plummy, sweet aura -- but mistakenly took it back thinking it was another perfume I'd tried on that was mesmerizing me. About a month later, caught a waft of it somewhere in the air, and thought "Oh, it WAS that one!" (Boyfriend) .....went back to buy it and Sephora had one measly, lonely bottle on the shelf, no products and it was being discontinued. My Life Story! LOL!

The opening is a burst of rum, vanilla and passion fruit and to me this is the best phase,gorg sweet intoxicating rum that pairs well with the fruit while tonka bean gives it a smooth round end. Projection is OK but lasts a long time and fades to a sweet passion fruit note with touches of lovely gardenia.

Smells like a women's cologne. Smells sexy though!

Start up with this zesty note, really nice combination of rum and top notes. after an hour or two it turns into more " regular" kind of floral fruity scent. nothing unique and no character. something similar to million of other things. well, dry down is poor and it lacks intensity. lasting power is so so and also the sillage. for the money, you can really buy something way better.

To my nose, this is only a plumped up The Body Shop Vanilla. Two scents are so similar, 212 VIP only has some more depth, it smells *a bit* more expensive and that's all. For the price I would really go for TBS's Vanilla.

So, there is supposed to be a rum note in it. I am not sure what that's like. I can sense vanilla, tonka bean and sweet passionfruit. It's quite warm and has a hint of sweetness.
It's not bad, but I don't see anything very special about it.
It doesn't have that V.I.P factor, it claims to have. I wouldn't remember this perfume for long.
I like the bottle though, it has such a cute magnetic cap.

Found my signature smell, when I sniff it seems I'm in love. I have CH unforgettable and there tonka bean are terrible, but here I can't smell it. At first it smells sweet passionfruit and soft rum. After at drydown more gardenia, rum and musk. I dislike gardenia, for example in Jean paul gaultier original, but here it is pleasant. No vailla in here. I found that on hair perfumes stays very long and intensive, way better than on skin, until next hair washing. Best try this year, recommend!

I feel like VIP..!

All I could smell from this on my skin was straight up powdery sweetness with a hint of rum, which was so disappointing because when I received a sample I was convinced I would love it. I didn't get any fruits from this at all, just a bland sweetness from start to finish. This definitely isn't something I could imagine smelling on the clubbing scene, but something I would expect to smell on an old lady with a taste for cheap perfume. I think it must just be my skin that rejected it, because I passed the sample on to my sister and it smells lovely on her, a rich sweet blend with a hint of fruit, but sadly this one isn't for me.

Some time ago, I wanted to buy a strong, long lasting perfume, and ended up purchasing L'eau by Carolina Herrera. Nice perfume. But after trying lots of fragrances, when I got home I smelled one that the sales woman had sprayed on my hand and it smelled delicious, like a warm, sexy scent, can't describe it but it lasted all night. I went back to the store yesterday, and learned that the fragrance was 212 VIP.

It´s strong at the beginning, some may say really strong, but after a while, you can appreciate a musky, really really warm scent.

I don't know why, but for me it has the same sweetness as Wish-Chopard, but without Angel wibe, if it makes sense. I don't like it's sticky sweetness.

212 VIP is a very important perfume...this perfume give me passion and energy...it reminds me "It's party time"...for me a history perfume!!!

smells like grape flavored Kool-Aid

not really original, but very delicious. Smells like a sweet sexy combination of rum and vanilla with a hint of musk.

Hate to be a negative nelly, but this was sadly a dissapointment to me. I thought that I would really love it, but somehow I just smell a generic sweet scent when sprayed on my skin. I can't really detect any of the notes individually, just a sweet mess really. Reminds me a bit of lady million in a way, which I also am not fond of. Plus, I found longevity and sillage to be lacking.

For me, this is a sweet but soft powdery white floral, whith no hint of passionfruit or rum. I hardly think of it as gourmet. It's nice, though, and surprisingly delicate and soft. Not the clubbing scent I had imagined at all.

To me, the name, bottle and marketing campaign for this fragrance is a complete mismatch. No matter. Anyone who thinks of themselves as VIP deserves a smack in the back of head anyway.

Update: I can definitely feel the booze now. I guess this is one of those fragrances that change on you depending on the weather, your sensibility that particular day etc. Either way, I like it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this perfume! I could honestly smell it all day long and not get bored of it!It's warm and vanilla sweet but not too sweet, with hints of passionfruit and a warming slightly spiced edge of rum. By looking at the notes it has in it I wouldn't have guessed I would love it so much because I try and avoid overly-sweet perfumes that have too much vanilla in but this one is perfect. It manages to be womanly, sexy and girly all at the same time! And it lasts well on the skin too! I also love the bottle ;) definite thumbs up for this perfume!

I was really looking forward to testing 212 VIP. To be honest, it's not something I usually wear, but I enjoy it nonetheless. The rich, musky drydown is my favourite part.

212 VIP opens rather fruity and strong, with a bold passionfruit accord. In the initial stages this fragrance didn't strike me as something I would wear out to the clubs. It was more of a pedestrian daytime scent.

However, towards the heart, the passionfruit note softened considerably with the rum and vanilla notes increasing in strength. It was at this point that 212 VIP was more of a night-time, wintry scent.

The more this fragrance develops, the muskier it becomes. The musk is what makes this fragrance so sensual and alluring. I particularly like the fact that this fragrance isn't sweet. The vanilla note is smooth and creamy, with the rum adding a masculine touch.

The projection isn't all that great. I guess I expected a fragrance with a little more 'punch' to it. Had I been the perfumer, I would have added some patchouli and sandalwood to create a darker, richer blend.

When I tested this on paper I loved it, it was strong, sweet and hade a noticeable vanilla scent but it was yet fresh.

Still in the store smelling the paper I googled for the perfume...wow rum... It had rum, this was a must have. So, after I got a spray or two on my wrist, I bought the biggest bottle, EdP, convinced that this was going to be one of my new favorites.

Unfortunately it wasn´t, after a couple of days wearing it I realised that it was nothing special on me. I expected much more from this perfume, inspite of the notes It didnt last throughout the day.

After realizing that I was not on the list I sold it.

Best Perfume I Ever had !

I like and dislike this perfume. It is REALLY strong and long-lasting.
I tried it on my arm at about 7 pm one evening. The first 5 hours I found it a bit revolting. There was a "plasticky" note, very artificial, that ruined the whole sweetness of the scent. Now that I see the notes listed, I suppose it was the rhum.
The next day as I woke up, I could still smell it on my arm!! And not only that, but even after putting a jumper on, I moved my arm around and kept getting whifs of the scent!! Incredibly powerful.
The weird thing was that I loved the scent that lingered on my arm. The remainder of the perfume was an incredibly beautiful vanilla. But only after almost 20 hours of having it sprayed on!!
So I guess I won't buy it. I wouldn't stand the first 20 hours of the scent! lol

This perfume was recommended to me as a girly but really strong scent, suitable for clubbing, partying and going out.
I don't find this scent girly, nor suitable for clubbing though. It's a very strong scent indeed. Pure, mature vanilla with a little bit freshness from the fruit and some playful rum. The scent reminds me a bit of Chopard Wish. I think it's too strong and too present for partying, but it's definitely suitable for 'special occasions'. One spritz is enough for a whole day or night. After about two to three hours the perfume dries down as a warm and cozy scent around you.
I can immagine people getting a headache because of this perfume since it's very sweet and very strong. But I would recommend it to anyone who likes strong, warm vanilla scents. I noticed it's been on sale a lot (or at least here in The Netherlands), so when you find a good deal, definitely try it!

Okay, let me just say that I absolutely LOVE the packaging of this one! Its possibly the best looking bottle that I have in my wardrobe. And the scent is equally gorgeous, if not better. I get sweet vanilla with a tinge of rum, and some fruity accords to add depth. It smells young, delightful and plain mouthwatering! I'm not much into sweet scents but this is an exception. This is the kinda scent you would want to wear when you just want to have a great time!

Ps. I don't get the comparisions to Lady Million. I have that one too and I don't think they're similar at all. On second thoughts, it actually reminds me a lot of another Paco Rabanne fragrance, Black Xs.

Have i mentioned that the perfume cap is magnetic and it closes itself almost like a golden spaceship...lol and the actual glass bottle is encased in that beautiful metallic tube... need i talk about the "juice" inside of it 2? Ha ha ha - Just kidding =) of course i'm gonna talk about the perfume itself.

It's such a beautiful smell. Starts off a bit fresh and crisp before morphing into a rich sweet warm scent. Its joyful and young smelling - like a 20 year old clubber chick. Very VIP indeed. I loved every second of it =)

So this is my signature perfume! Is very different, and I always get compliments from men, even if I am travelling worldwide on my holidays or with my job. I feel sexy and powerful when I wear it. I recommend it to women loooking in their 25 - 35 years old.

It's so yummy and i love it. Rum doesn't taste as great as it smells, to me, it is very unique parfume. And i have so many great memories wearing it :)

I asked for christimas and was very anxious to have this one, the "Are you in the list" slogan is really teasing.. but it got me an terrible readache. I cannot use this one =/

The best fragrance from the house of Carolina Herrera... If I wear this I get party mood:)) feel sooo excited and yet classy too... Sexy bottle jazzy effect!!! Sure can give it a try once!!!

Very recognisable Carolina Herrera composition, straight from the top. I do not get the passion fruit or the rum, just a not very heavy non descript sugary vanilla blended with some white florals. There is a certain warmth to the perfume, maybe the tonca bean, but nothing really stands out. I'm afraid nothing smells VIP or exotic here, not to my nose at least.Had to scrub off. Sorry:(

Very nice smell. It is very sweet, and i got spiced rum and vanilla as the strongest notes. I also smelled something citrusy in it, although there aren't any citrus notes. The base was definetely tonka bean. This fragrance is an all-day fragrance, but best for the night. Try this perfume on skin, because on paper it smells quite different than how it smells in skin. Nice fragrance! :)

to me these carolina herrera fragrances in general smell like nothing special.. this one just smells like alcohol (like freshly sprayed cheap perfume alcohol) .. idk where all the hype comes from. not for me.. too perfumey ..

A sweeter version of Lady Million by Paco Rabanne, 212 VIP by Carolina Herrera has than alcohol smell, like it was made for women who go to parties often.

This bottle looks like a tampon.

Smells very citric to me and very caramelish vanilla sweet. I do not recognize the scent of passionfruit here at all, I thought it was mandarine. There is some gourmand character to it. You do smell the fruity acidity together with the Rum bitternes on the one hand and the extreme sweetness of vanilla and even caramel or praline on the other hand and at the same time. But to me the way this scent is construted those two facets do not seem to go well together here. Well, not to my taste. You do smell them but to me that dualness does not add aesthetically anything to the scent, I do not actually like it, it is still as if you had those two sides separately, without any connection to one another. That is my perception, very personal obviously. I find the staying power quite poor and the silage not great.

I got the vial of this perfume for free. It really smells like Paco Rabbane Lady Million. Love the scent but too sweet & it gives me headache, just like Lady Million. But the lasting power is great.

It is really nice, it is a bit tropical, with flloral/fruity notes underneath, it just smells great and I had a bottle before and repurchased it. I detect the rum which is blended in nicely and not dominant at all. I enjoy 212 Sexy but it is more oriental to my nose, VIP is more exotic, and easy to wear.I had a choice between VIP and Hypnose, I chose VIP as Hypnose got real sweet and is more linear. It isn't very strong but it isn't weak either.For me a totally nice feminine scent, pretty and vibrant.

I wanted one of her scents for a long long time. I glad I chose this one as the first of her scents to own. She stands out with this one. My favourite wear if I have to go to a party. It lasts long enough not to become unbearable. Its classy.

Bought a big bottle and have to live with it , not good as it smelled in store ...Too sugary ..I'am disapointed

This one gave me major headache. I think i liked it first time in the store and when i wore it i could not stand the smell. Too strong for my liking and this frangrance made not wear any other perfumes for next few days.

I tried this some time ago, i love sweet fragances and this was perfect to me.
Loved the rum and vanilla notes. A very good, sweet and sexy perfume. I want it!

The top notes are so GOOD! Tropical, juicy passionfruit with warm, rich rum. SO GOOD!
And then it goes to a direction I can`t handle. Can`t put my finger on it, but the middle notes are cold and powdery. They really annoy me! The base again is nicer, but there`s nothing special with it. Too cold!
I`m going to layer this with something like Prada Candy or maybe even 212 Sexy. Both of them are warmer and sweeter then this one in the end.

I liked the basenotes here, so I got a version perfume of 212 vip. I like it, it is one of the strongest perfumes I own I think, at least at the first blast, then it dries down to a soft musk-vanilla with a hint of top notes. I'm just starting to use it, only time will tell if I love it. but again, I don't own the original, this review is based upon my perfume.

ok, so i got a bottle of this the other day and I absolutly love it, it's ALMOST as good as my Burberry Brit Sheer. I dont get any real defined scents in this one, but just the overall smell is amazing and it lasts FOREVER! i put a little on at 11am and it is now 10pm and it is still going strong!

I swapped my D&G 'The One' with my friend for this one. My first whiff and it was waaaay too much passion-fruit: almost like it had gone bad and started to ferment!

But I took some time with it. Apparently, it didn't go too well with my skin, but when I put it on my clothes, it was sweet and lovely.

Lasts for a long time and even towards the end, it maintained its strength and flavor.

The rum + passion fruit + vanilla is a killer combination: I think Captain Jack Sparrow would approve! :)

I got 212 VIP as a Valentines present from my husband and from the time I smelled it I fell in love with it!! It's such a nice scent!! It is sweet yes,but not the Fantasy(Britney) way sweet. It's more of rum,tonka bean and passionfruit sweet which is not too much,it's classy and I recommend it for all ages as is not offenting sense in any way! One more thing ladies it doesn't resample Lady Million at all!! VIP 212 it's much more better to the nose and to people all around.

very strong scent!! Lasts very very long!! There is a certain balance between its strength and its subtlety..it makes for a perfect all day perfume because its not annoyingly attention grabbing!! Just pleasantly!!

212 VIP is a boozy gourmand scent.

It is pretty, but I find it too similar to previous 212 versions. The opening rum note is outstanding, that's true, but it only lasts a few minutes. The rum note is beautiful, bold, passionate...it blends amazingly well with the passion fruit, but it fades quickly, along with all those wonderful traits.

After that, you are left with a fragrance base reminiscent of 212 or 212 Sexy. These two fragrances I love, but I wanted 212 VIP for the booze!

To be fair, during dry down vanilla is the only note that remains distintive, but it is the non-foody kind,so don't expect a creamy vanilla.

I like 212 VIP, if it weren't for the volatile rum note, I would have loved it! That note could have been better executed. If only the rum note would permeate the vanilla base throughout dry down, it would have been a beautiful perfume...

212 VIP starts out with a very prominent bold boozy rum note with hints of passion fruit that is sweet but not overly sweet – beautiful composition! I barely detect any floral notes. The dry down is also beautiful with its warm sensual touch of vanilla and tonka bean and traces of musk!
This one surprised me! I never thought I would love rum in a perfume! I mean, who would have thought that rum in a perfume would be so divine?! But this is very well created.
Yummy fragrance that remains sexy at the same time. Perfect for gourmand lovers!
The sillage is very good! And the longevity is average but holds just enough to last you though the night.
This perfume makes a great going out, party, nightclubbing fragrance!
The whole concept and the name ‘VIP – Are you on the list?’ fits with the scent very well.
Suitable to wear in the autumn & winter months.
I am also loving the big golden bottle with the magnetic cap!

Everything in Excess is bad says a Sanskrit proverb and this perfume is Excessively sweet and powdery at that...a big let down for me! :(

The Rum is delicious though and peeps through now and then...stays on decently like the 212 family...Classy on some people...reaks exuberance but sadly not for me...

The Bottle is drool worthy but the perfumes not as strong and power smelling as the bottle states!

I got this one In a swapp this week from kione(thank you so much my dear) I already knew this one, and it was in my like shelf,now I put in the love shelf, I only tested it once before I found it sweet, but nothing speciall, now I changed my mind, it´s very good, such as sillage and longetivity, wich in fact is what I care most, and so is the bottle so cute like gold, so sophisticated, and it actually smells pretty much like rhum, wich I like, and vanila as well I really enjoy it, and I´m glad I have it :)

A very "party" fragrance, brings associations with syrupy drinks. Quite strong and definately not subtle but delicious and non-tiring. The bottle is so precious, I'd love to have it in my purse and put it out to spray myself with it while looking at my reflection in the mirror in a busy club :)

It is for teenagers in my opinion. Too much fruity and fresh. It smells ok, but it doesn't last long. Maximum 2 hours!

I'd have to agree with most of the reviewers in that this is a nice fruited rum with spice and vanilla. :) But with that being said I find the overall composition rather dull. :( It opens( obviously) with a lightly syrupy and sweet note of rum then quickly phases thru the mid notes and finally settles down and goes super spicy with a rather weak Tonka addition that inevitably falls flat on my skin.

This one didn't stand out for me and it's not a perfume I'd consider very sexy or should I say "V.I.P.". When I did decide to wear it, those were casual and work related occasions. It's a solid scent but it doesn't encroach on new territory and has limited sillage, character or "je ne sais quoi". If I were a V.I.P on a night in the town I can envision a whole slew of sexy, stylish, femme fatale fragrances that would easily fit the bill and frankly folks...212 V.I.P isn't one of them.

If you just wanted a spiced vanilla scent with a little syrup then you really wouldn't have to look very far. I'd list 'em but there are a far too many to name that are more affordable, have more character and better lasting power. 212 V.I.P simply doesn't fit it's own standards by which the marketing and advertising suggests. o.O

I love carolina herrera perfums, but when I splash 212 vip I feel very beautiful : ) its strange that a perfume could make us feeling like that. But when I go out, like parties and clubs I LOVE put this perfume. It´s amasing, it has that flirt feeling : ) It´s the perfect night perfume, not to very very strong, just strong enough to make you feel like that :D

Of all the 212 scents, VIP is my very favorite. While I didn't dislike the others, I just feel that VIP has that extra "je ne sais quoi" that the others were missing.

212 VIP starts out with a sharp bold blast of rum and a subtle fruitiness. I actually find the initial booziness a little overwhelming, and this is coming from a girl who adores a strong rum note.

However, within minutes that sharp alcohol note calms down to a warm soothing rum scent, with a soft floral note, and slightly nutty smelling undertones, until the sweet vanilla-tonka composition emerges to the forefront.

The sweet creaminess of this fragrance is definitely on the gourmand side, which is what initially attracted me to it.

I have a small bottle of this because I don't wear it very often. I have other scents which satisfy my rum, tonka and vanilla cravings, which last longer (this is a 5 hour fragrance on me). The sillage is pretty good though.

But when I do wear it, I always enjoy it very much, and then I say to myself that I should wear it more, because I like it very much.

Now, of course, with winter rapidly approaching, is a perfect time of year to give this scent the attention it deserves.

Thanks to my friend Jillzilla I got a chance to try this lovely perfume. I absolutely love this stuff. To me it is very gourmand with notes of jammy berries and vanilla/tonka bean. Then after a while it kind of turns into this rum vanilla berry cake smell that is just divine!!!! I could not stop smelling my wrist all night after I sprayed this on. Great lasting power too! Two thumbs way up for this one!!!!

This was an impulse buy - got a 30 ml bottle. And I (surprisingly) didn't regret it! To my nose, it's a lively mix of passionfruit, rum and tonka bean. the rest quickly fades away on my skin. What i like about it is that it's lively and outgoing. when i put this on, it makes me feel like a million dollars :) It is very long-lasting on my skin. But some perfumes "soak" into the skin, and they smell strong only if you smell the skin itself. this leaves a distinctive trace for a few hours.
@SheShe: You are completely right about the add and bottle: pretentious is the word that best describes them :-/

I decided to try a second fragrance by Carolina Herrera - the first one I tried was 212 Sexy and it was nice but linear and flat...
I had a hope for a great rum, being a fan of Guess by Marciano and curacao note lately.
What did I get?

Unfortunately, another flat fragrance! Flat and weakly developing notes, actually it looks as if ingredients were of poor quality compared to the price of a bottle.

The fragrance is nice but nothing special... Rum with vanilla at first, then gardenia showed up for a moment, then all became flat and musky - tonka - beanish... It seems too much attention was put into the look of the bottle (gold! gold! let them imagine they're rich! :P) and the VIP image (let's make women feel special) - the ad and "Are you on a VIP list?" get on my nerves - pretentious!

I expected nice rum, I got a weak fragrance that could be better if it wasn't so flat like a cheap perfume. Base notes last long though.

I wear it from time to time when I want to smell rum ;)

Just got this from a friend who doesn't like it. And I love it!

I think it can be worn day or night but probably best in winter. It invites you like a cup of hot chocolate, I suppose that is the tonka bean.

Its sweet, rich and dark, not for all palates, not for the ones that like light florals or fresh fruits.

I do love it, but being a full time mum of a toddler might not fit my everyday life which is a real shame. I would deffinitelly wear it in an adult environment. Its not only for parties as the ad goes!

Edit to say that I wore it properly last night to a dinner party and I wasn't sure as I thought it was going to be too strong and maybe suffocating for the other diners. But just in the car I asked my partner if he liked it and he said he couldn't smell it! I was surprised, and then I noticed myself that it wasn't strong at all, and not strong sillage. Very gourmandy but totally inoffensive , not cloying and not a huge staying power.

So I will deffinitelly wear it more often and during the day in the winter very comfortably. I am very happy with this perfume.

Edit: I hate the advertising! Just watched the video and I don't like that message of some people are cool some are not, if you wear this perfume you are cool, fighting to get in the night club, etc. I am SO glad I tried this perfume without watching that first because its pretentiousness might have put me off.

I was surprised by this perfume very wearably feminine scent! It's beautiful from when you first put this on through the dry down ... however not enough to tempt me to buy it!

This is SEXY! I loved it. I used it to a party and it lasted all night, I don't know why so many reviews imply that it doesn't last long. Lovely, refreshing fruity smell that would seduce any guy :) If you're looking for a young, sexy-yet-classy perfume, this is it :) Also, the bottle is amazing. The 30ml one can easily fit in a clutch purse.

Evaporated withing minutes! I couldnt detect the developing of the scent... It was sort of linear with the strong alcoholic smell

this is super pretty, at first spritz i can really smell the passion fruit, but it quickly brings forth the rum note, wich to me makes it milky and soft all the while still maintaining the fruitiness. Its very different and unique, this smells like nothing I have ever smelled, and this is the first time ever that a fragrance has smelled the way I envisioned it to smell. I bought this blind today because it was sitting there all by its lonesome and it was marked down $20 off. Man am I glad i did buy this, its so sparkly at first sniff yet smooth and soft or creamy with just a tad of sweetness when you pull your wrist away, must be the rum and tonka/vanilla. I love it. and btw it smells nothing like lady million, NOTHING. If you buy blind because of the notes, you will not be disappointed! so happy right now :)

Love it! I came across perfume by chance and I am so very glad I did. I get rum and passion fruit but they are blended really well with the rest of the notes and the whole thing works magic on my skin. It is silky smooth, confident and inviting. I find some similarities with CH. I don't think it has much in common with the others in the 212 series.

imo also a dupe of CK Euphoria, nice though for office wear

i got the passion fruit to begin with, really gorgeously sweet without being saccharine. fortunately i don't get the rum or the gardenia. for me it's best when it's been on for a few hours....all musk, vanilla and tonka bean. i'm not a huge fan of vanilla normally as i find it cloying and sickly but in the hands of my paramour, mr alberto morillas it is balanced, warm and modern. i sampled this without knowing anything about it and on liking it and coming on here to write my review, i discovered it was another of his works. he and i have a many-scented relationship. i trust his scents to suit me and have only been let down once or twice. 212 VIP is a ghastly name by a house i'm not overly enamoured with but mr morillas has created a scent that, although it is more heady than i usually like, it is one i would definitely like in my collection. if i could, i'd kiss him :)

All im getting is a cloying tonka rum.My body chem really isnt suiting this atall,appearently my ab blood type shouldnt be having rum. Now i can completly see/smell why. I honestly hate rum as a drink too.On a positive note this perfume does have incredible lasting power!. This would smell great on someone else,alas its just not for me.Definatly a nightclubbing scent.

Young, playful and cheerful are the words that I would like to describe 212 VIP as.

It starts very sweet with some fruitiness which can be best described as, if the juices of some sweet and tangy fruits mixed with sugar have been heated in a balanced way to give a sweet note. At this stage, you can say 212 VIP is gourmand and that's what I thought. Then appears passionfruit note in all its glory and mixes with the sweetness of the top. The base settles with the accord of tonka bean and vanilla and here vanilla is really balanced, all the sugary note of the top and heart is mellowed down and it's now all vanilla and tonka bean holding the fruitiness of passionfruit and a hint of florals. In the whole fragrance, a floral note has been added in such a way that it just wraps all the notes with an echo.

Over all, 212 VIP will happily capture young wearers as the aura it surrounds is so young but, fragrance has no age to wear. I have already written it down on my list as I am looking for a sweet and fruity fragrance for my sister to present on her 18th birthday.

I Got 212VIP last night from my Boyfriend. and i LOVE it!! It smells just the way i like to smell. Its sweet, fruity BUT sexy. The scent it gives off is really hot and makes me want to bite my arm. lol i love it! and i sure want to get a bigger bottle!!! (^_^) and now i LOVE my Boyfriend even more
