Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere (2015) by Chanel is a Floral Aldehyde fragrance for women. Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere (2015) was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Polge. Top notes are Aldehydes, Ylang-Ylang and Neroli; middle notes are Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Vanilla, Sandalwood and Vetiver.

"Modern, airy interpretation of No5... Silky-smooth harmony of notes that reveals delicate aspects of the fragrance of nowadays and future"—Chanel

As a limited edition presented on website Chanel.com, CHANEL NO 5 EAU PREMIERE arrives in a new flacon with an outer carton for which you can select the graphic design in 10 different versions. The new edition was introduced just before Summer 2015.

It features campaign "The One That I Want" which was launched for Chanel No5 edition together with an advertising movie with Baz Luhrmann and beautiful Gisele Bündchen. In the new Chanel movie Lo-Fang (also known as Matthew Hemerlein) participates with his voice, singing the acoustic version of the popular song "The One That I Want" from Grease.

Chanel No5 Eau Premiere is a younger and more modern version of timeless Chanel No5. Its scent is airier and the color of its liquid is lighter. The composition encompasses luminous, sunny and fluffy notes which refresh the floral heart resting on a fine, soft, creamy base. No5 Eau Premiere takes the floral notes of the No5 edition (jasmine from Grasse fields, owned by Chanel, rose absolute, ylang-ylang from Comoro islands, neroli) refreshed with aldehydes and accompanied with sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver. The perfumer is Jacques Polge. The first No5 Eau Premiere edition was presented in a 125 ml flacon, back in 2007.

An excellent updated version to the No. 5 EDP. The addition of ylang and amped up vanilla make the composition uplifting, approachable, and more modern while still extremely elegant and less stuffy than the EDP. Bravo!

The first time I tried Chanel No5 Eau Premiere my nose wasn’t trained enough.
It was also very unfortunate timing because it was in the middle of the extreme summer heat. I really disliked it.
I thought at first that it smelled very similar to the original and that it didn’t smell modern. To my nose back then it smelled like an old bar of soap and nothing else.
I recently tried it again on a cool spring morning and I finally understood it. Everything is smoother and softer than the original and it’s just so classy and beautiful.
The opening is very uplifting and all about its modernised aldehydes that are very pleasing.
It’s clean but it no longer feels just like soap.
It feels more complex and I can sense all the notes in the notes pyramid above respectively.
I’m so glad I didn’t swap my bottle, because it grew on me and I learned to appreciate its beauty.
It’s classy, feminine, timeless and elegant.

70% CkOne + 30% Chanel n5 EDT= Chanel n5 Eau Premiere.
It's rather linear but has a super fresh , soapy, frozen yogurt, opening, dries down similar to CkOne too, powdery, and citruses.
It can also be compared to the original Dove bar soap, dry, in the box.

It's maybe a stronger n5 L'eau.

Chanel n5, Eau de Toilette is I believe the closest rendition to the original scent profile, which is the most abstract. The opening might be too complicated, sharp, refined, cold, androgynous, for a typical person. On the other hand, the dry down is like a classic sugar glazed donut. It's giving me a powerful alpha woman with a hard exterior, yet her inside is soft and playful.
It's the epitome of a realistic Coco Chanel.

Chanel n5 Eau Premiere is far from the original Chanel n5 EDT. It's airy, easy, feminine, childlike, and as cute as soft marshmallows.

Maybe it could be said it's the edited version of Coco Chanel, which we only see in her perfect images, but not how she truly viewed herself.

Gorgeous and enveloping - This perfume gently wafts throughout the day and is both smooth and comforting. I can understand why many would dub this feminine leaning, however I think this could easily be worn by a man. I especially love how modern it feels in comparison to the No 5 EDP, however I do miss the aldehydes from the OG EDP.

🤍 Sweeter, softer, cozier and not so soapy version of OG edp.

🤍 Very versatile and easy to wear, I have always a bottle with me.

🤍 Not so crispy, cold and light than L’Eau - there are no citruses here.

🤍 A longevity is very good and a performance is a lot better than in OG edp - I have never been a big fan of that. Somehow it fades away so quickly.

🤍 Original parfum is still my favorite, I used to mix a very old vintage and quite new one, but it’s more for the special occasions.

🤍 If you haven’t tried this one I can tell that this flanker is a delightful surprise.

Beautifully romantic. A long warm bubble bath using luxury floral soaps and body oils, with aromatic steam coming off your freshly bathed skin. A more timeless and sensual version of the OG. Forever a love.

Diablomoni

Even if you HATE Chanel 5 original. You will probably love this. This smells like an elegant and modern. It kinda reminds me of Coco Cola?

1. When i’ve showered;
2. And i’ve scrubbed myself to death;
3. And moistured my whole physique;
4. And my body still smells wonderfully creamy, warm and clean;

It is n5 (eau premiere) who lingers on my body and whispering whispers of console and comfort;
So clean, pure and romantic you are;
Turning me upside down;
Like a madwoman;
You have turned me into a poet;
I wished you stayed a little bit longer;
But you had to say goodbye;
I am and will everly longing for your comfort and companionship.

Okay. Back to reality.
It is crazy how much i love this! Especially after a shower. Everytime i smelled it in the store i wanted to buy it but something kept me away from this until recently. I think it was the longevity, i just wished it stayed longer.

It is elegant, clean, pure, innocent and comforting!

For me, anything with the No 5 dna is a microcosm of the already-small but rich and alluring world of the dressing table: rose-inflected powder; the full-bodied waxiness of iris suggesting lipstick; a lived-in musk reminding you of the way pearls get better and more lustrous mixed with your skin and heat; the aldehydic shock of hairspray; the woodsy must borrowed from the table itself; and the balmy jasmine and ylang of cold cream for washing the day off — it’s all there.

Eau Première is a decidedly lighter and frothier iteration of all that — gossamer and silken, yet with impressive lasting power for a scent so sunny and sparkling. Woody, creamy, and powdery, I get mostly aldehydes, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, and a lemony vanilla — in that order. Bright and round! Classy, but without any aloofness. Most of my favorite perfumes are some fusion of vintage and modern sensibilities; Chanel No 5 Eau Première is practically the archetype of that genre.

I am in love with No5 edt, but where I've been all this years. I just received Eau Premier and this is my favorite Chanel ever. What a fascinating fragrance, pure class and sophistication. This is amazing find.

Moonami

Wow!!! Words can't describe how much I love it! Very soft and gentle and feminine. Perfect for work as it would never offend and have a professional edge. Also suitable for date night.

I was never a fan of aldehydes before but the gentler versions of Chanel no. 5 like L'Eau and Premiere transformed me as they don't have the "old rich lady" vibe and just give the vibe of an elegant well composed and feminine lady who has her act together. Love it and it leaves a good impression.

With that said, longevity and silage are an issue (same with L'Eau too). After a couple of hours they just become skin level and you have to dig your nose in your clothes (where I sprayed) to notice it! so yeah not a good return on investment for how very expensive it is but for how dreamy it smells and makes me feel I am willing to overspray and do touch ups as the day goes.

PurrParfumFan

This perfume was my N°5 stepping stone.
I hated N°5 until I smelled this one and got mad compliments. After that, ever version of N°5 has grown on me and I proudly own every available version

Scentfrommanna

Everyone else has said everything that needs to be said about this one, but it’s my favourite No 5 with the EDT coming a close second. I love No 5 but the EDP still feels a little too mature for me at the moment.
I smelt this in a store back when it was first launched and fell in love. It’s so airy and clean and wearable for all occasions, unbelievably classy. It just feels so effortless.
Every time I wear it wonder why I wear anything else, it’s perfection, so beautiful. Could easily be my signature, it really does feel like a second skin. Always gets me lots of compliments as well, particularly from colleagues so it is very much office appropriate.
Might a teensy bit too strong in high heat but I tend to wear colognes, body sprays or more beachy smelling perfumes in the height of summer anyway.
I wish this still came in the tall bottle it was launched it, I loved that.
Longevity and sillage are perfect for me, it’s well worth the money.

I LOVE this fragrance... it is so classy, sophisticated and understated and something that can be worn during practically all occassions in the day during both the spring and fall.

The aldehydes are much more toned down in Chanel N°5 Eau Premiére than in the original Chanel N°5 perfume and this fragrance smells a lot more youthful to me. I also like how there is no dirty smelling oakmoss in the base unlike in the original N°5 and how this particular flanker is much stronger on both the yellow and white florals and isn't as woody as the first fragrance in this line of Chanel perfumes.

Everything in this fragrance is perfectly balanced and incredibly feminine smelling, making me think of a classy young woman who is sophisticated, worldly and old money without being stuffy or snobby. It has a certain sparkling quality to it and I'm only getting the soapy quality from aldehydes and not the dirty and oily nuances that aldehydes sometimes unfortunately have.

I like how Chanel N°5 Prémiere isn't as citrusy smelling as Chanel N°5 L'eau, has a smaller dosage of aldehydes than N°5 L'eau and lasts longer than that particular flanker too. Less powdery and a bit sweeter too.

I got 5 and a half hours from this perfume on my skin and its sillage was the perfect moderate dosage. It's strong enough to smell but not so strong that it would make one's stomach churn or become overwhelmed.

For all of the above, I'd give Chanel N°5 Prémiere an excellent 8.3/10 and a thumbs up... definitely by far the best N°5 perfume in my opinion and what Chanel N°5 should have smelled like!

j.andresminor

My mom would steal it from me if i would buy it, smells woody and yellow floral like the original from my mom, sigthly more masculine, i like it a lot, because of the sandalwood note more prominent!

Missieo1

This one is just right. Not as sharp as the Edp., not as light as L’eau. This is strong but much more tame and feminine. I feel so classy when I wear this. It makes me want to put on a black dress, heels, pearls and of course red lipstick and have a night out!

Ok so this perfume I always go back to ! I always have to buy a new bottle before I finish the old one . I start to think this might be actually my signature smell hahah 🤦♀️

lunar_eclipse

I like this quite a lot, much more than the Eau de Parfum.

Ulusia

This version is my favorite of all the No. 5 releases. I bought the full bottle due to the soft creamy dry-down: vanilla, woods and soap - the most beautiful dry down. I am not a fan of aldehydes but here in this version they are softer and more modern. I also had bad skin olfactory reaction with all the No. 5 versions only this 2015 premiere release is beautiful on my skin. It will be my go to fragrance in Autumn and Winter :-)

MonicaCloud

The opening is powdery, floral, aldehydic. Perfectly mixed without one overpowering the other. So sophisticated and elegant. It then dries down to the creamiest woody, soapy vanilla scent that lasts and lasts. Gorgeous in every season. Incredible quality. One spray of it and I'm in heaven.

Heathermarie8617

I have tried many of the No 5's, including a vintage Eau De Cologne and I think the Eau Premiere may be my favorite of them all, followed by the classic Eau De Toilette. This is so soft and powdery, but still maintains the classic Chanel No 5 DNA. While I did enjoy the No 5 L'Eau flanker, which I tested multiple times, I didn't like it enough to buy a bottle. However, this one I believe is repurchase worthy for my personal taste. (For reference, I'm a 37 Y/O Woman). I hope Chanel keeps this one around because it's absolutely stunning. Also, so random, but I'm rewatching Mad Men for the 3rd time through and I can totally see Betty wearing this...soft...classic. Totally her.

Enrium

[850] Perfume is one of my favourite things, and as a result I have an extensive perfume collection and love perfumes from every scent family. I change up what I'm wearing so frequently that I long have given up on finding a signature scent. However, the closest I'll ever come to a signature scent is this flanker for the classic that is Chanel No. 5 - an icon in the truest sense of the word. I used to spray this in department stores as a teenager, initially falling in love with its 2007 predecessor. Although I have a small bottle of the 2007 Eau Première, it remains sealed so I can't do a proper comparison. My mom's signature scent is No. 5 EDP, and while I adore it, I wouldn't wear it, as it is hers. Instead, EP is the best version of No. 5 for me. It is a wonderful modern update of a classic - lighter, smoother and creamier while retaining the DNA of the original. It is unavailable here in Ireland, so I pick this up at the duty free when travelling. No. 5 L'Eau is advertised as the modern, youthful version of No. 5, but I find it to be inferior to EP - its performance is somewhat lacking and it is less refined and well-rounded.

EP opens with the famous bright aldehydes that Chanel is known for. It sparkles like champagne initially, before settling to settling to a smooth soapiness, like the finest milled French soap. The smooth, clean florals follow, with neroli emerging initially, adding green-tinged orange brightness. As it progresses, ylang ylang comes to the fore, smooth and sweet, the dominant note of the opening. The peach of the original is noticeably absent, but the aforementioned tropical florals add fruitiness to the opening. Beautifully balanced, smooth and bright, they pave the way to the powdery floral heart that forms the crux of the No. 5 DNA.

Clean, powdery jasmine follows, alongside powdery rose and soft iris. This accord is quintessentially Chanel - utterly elegant and vintage in style - the heart of No. 5. The bouquet is smooth, powdery and clean; still soap-like but lush and well-rounded. It is lighter and airier than No. 5 proper, more youthful and modern.

Dry vanilla creeps in as it dries down, complementing the florals to perfection with soft sweetness. Soft sandalwood grounds things here, and vetiver adds a hint of dry grassiness as it fades. It remains clean and powdery until final fade - there is no muskiness in this iteration of No. 5. The chypre base of the original is also missing, making for a simpler, more straightforward but no-less-beautiful drydown (and I am a big fan of chypres). Here, the florals shine until the very end, when it fades to a powdery vanilla skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting (the performance here is thankfully much better than Chanel No. 19 or No. 5 L'Eau).

A timeless, ageless feminine scent that is utterly elegant and easy to wear, EP pays homage to the original but has its own identity. Naturally, being a Chanel perfume, it is made with high-quality ingredients. Hugely versatile, it is a rare year-round scent. Smooth yet sparkling, rich yet airy, clean yet sweet, it is a perfectly balanced beauty that suits modern tastes while paying homage to a vintage icon. Utterly beautiful, this is a personal favourite. 5/5.

EllenDon

I really love the smell. Someone here said it resembles the Dalin shampoo and they are right. Dalin with a sweet powder drydown.
Tbh the core of soft powder does it for me.
I am 25 and i don't find it difficult to wear.

HannahRosesAreRed

I really wanted to like this. I really did. I would love to heave greater appreciation for Chanel perfumes. I couldn't get past the harsh, chemical and artificially soapiness of the original No 5. I enjoyed L'Eau, but was disappointed by its longevity. Looking at the notes, it looked like No 5 Eau Premiere was the happy medium. And it did have some really nice notes of ylang-ylang and uber sweet neroli. But Eau Premiere is overwhelmingly aldehydic, and not in a soft, fresh, clean way–but in the same harsh, chemical manner as the OG No 5. The opening and dry-down were surprisingly linear.

It has that distinct Chanel sharpness, which on my skin, translates to public bathroom liquid soap. If I didn't know better, I would think that it would dry out my skin or thin paint.

The No 5 line in general tends to be less user-friendly than the other perfume lines of this brand, which are more tailored to modern tastes. Not a bad fragrance, but, like much of the No 5 family, it performs poorly on me. Perhaps I'm not mature or sophisticated enough to enjoy this, or my tastes have been skewed by current perfume formulations. Or perhaps it's a flaw in my skin. But Eau Premiere is not for me. As with all Chanels, test first.

hnoel1210

Warm, comforting, aldehydic. This is everything and more. Trying to find words to describe this fragrance is difficult for me. Something you have to experience yourself.
Will forever be in my collection.

stylishchickenbone28

So it's the second time I tried this. Each time, I reminded of the fuzzy warmth of the vintage Eau de Toilette. Just... more airy, and more light. That's not to say it smells similar to the vintage. But that body is there, but less. It's really quite hard to compare to any other of the scents apart from L'Eau, but this one has a much more rounded vanilla and it gives it body. People saying this is the more modern N°5 are right. This is bang! right on what we need it to smell like today.

Laurus

This is easy to wear version. It smells fluffy and pleasant like a mothers hug. I live this fragrance but when I wear it I feel like a am not being myself. I feel too much like my mother. She used to love flluffy scents like this.

KatherineC

Eau Premiere's radiant optimism reminds me of the sun at day's end as it turns the color of liquid gold, the color of the liquid itself. When I first smelled that lemony fizz of aldehydes back in 2007, I was going through a terrible divorce. It was the most painful time of my life. I wore Eau Premiere every day for a year and it never failed to lift my spirits with its warm vanillic bouquet and addictively creamy ylang note. This elegant fragrance helped me feel special during a dark period and its versatility has accompanied me through many experiences since then, both good and bad. It's easy to overlook a perfume you've been in a long term relationship with, but my love for this scent has never wavered and never will.

Kimberly917

This is one of the prettiest perfumes I have ever smelled. Chanel has become my favorite pefume house. I also have No 5 in the EDP & EDT. Eau Premiere is as described. It is a beautiful airier interpretation of No 5. It is creamier and less indolic than the OG. The aldehydes are present but not nearly as assertive as in No 5 EDP & EDT. Eau Premier is a beautiful springtime fragrance. I'm captivated by the expression of timelessness captured within the blend of the finest florals and citrusy aldehydes. It is a perfume that defies boundaries. I start to pick up on the vanilla and sandalwood after about two hours of wear. I apply in the morning first thing and then reapply lightly after lunch for a saturated effect. I do think No 5 and No 22 can be offputting to newbies. I didn't know what to make of them when I first started wearing them a couple of years ago. I initially liked No 5 but not as a daily perfume. My nose is still working on unpacking No 22. My daughter does not like any of the Chanels that feature aldehydes. Her perfume of choice is Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait. She gave me a bottle of it for Christmas a couple of years ago. I really like it also. If you look at my profile though you will see I keep coming back to Chanel. I guess they've got my number.

Vivi243

This perfume is a must for girls who want to feel classy anytime. For me this is the n.5 of modern times, i’d say a safe blind buy if you like the n.5 scents but softer aldehydes and a more rounded vanilla.Im in love with the powdery luxurious feeling that it leaves on my skin. It gives me so many compliments; class in a bottle. Bravo Chanel.

Natalia.ca

Omg how I love this one.
After no5 edt it’s my absolute favourite.
It’s the kind of scent that when you spray on your arm and smell it you swoon over yourself.
The aldehydes! I have no idea whatsoever what they are, but aldehydes I adore you!
I’ll name my dog Alde in your honour. No better compliment.

Id like to add that I find reviews that relate perfumes to soaps extremely simplistic and lazy. Not even a No5 soap by Chanel smells like a No5 fragrance.

raesmells

Oh boy is this a love for me ! It is No. 5 "dialed down" and much more wearable with the citrus and powder and much better to me. When I wear this I get so many compliments. The problem is I am often in sweats or jeans and I feel like a sham. If you are a lady who dresses up for work this is perfect. The ultimate working lady perfume. Just writing about it makes me want to purchase a new bottle.

alternateu

Again, still that finely-milled slightly floral soap wrapped in a wax paper vibe with the rest of the No. 5s, but this one is a little creamier, a little less waxy, and slightly more "round". The EDP feels ever so slightly more "angular", while this one feels a little better blended on my skin. I love this. Very addictive. Bought this in 2023.
I sprayed it on before going to bed and woke with the most GORGEOUS slightly soapy, creamy, skin scent of florals the next day. Would be perfect if the longevity and projection were better, but what can I say. Still my favourite.

-
Compared with the other No. 5 range:
No. 5 EDP: 7/10. Pleasant and strangely addictive, but still a little heavy and too waxy for my taste.
No. 5 Eau Premiere: 9.5/10. Creamy version of the EDP, very strong resemblance with an obvious Chanel DNA (heavy aldehydes).
No. 5 L'eau: 9/10. Very similar to Eau Premiere. But instead of the creaminess, I get more citrus in the opening. A slightly fresher (not masculine by any means), "brighter" iteration. Better for hot days. But still gorrrrgeous.
I've heard comments about the L'eau being the weakest, but to be honest, they're all pretty weak to me.

Azisai-

(Reviewing a 2015 batch)

I know pretty much everyone else has said what I have to say but if you're not a fan of No. 5, because it doesn't hold well on you, you don't like the antiquated feel, or you're just generally opposed to it, try this pleeassee.

This is what a modern day princess would smell like, in my opinion. It smells like expensive milled French soap, champagne and macarons for breakfast, linen day dresses, French tips and daddy's money (not in a Cher Horowitz way, though). If the OG is a high-class woman in a fat mink coat and overlined red lips, this is her daughter who studies abroad and somehow rocks the fugly school uniform, yet she's not a spoiled brat. She's the type of girl to be the only person actually listening to you when you're speaking, give you genuine compliments, study with you when you're falling behind, and remember to get you your favorite flowers on your birthday. It just radiates this kind, angelic magic. So beautiful and fairly long-lasting. Sillage is strong when first applied but settles into a skin scent you can feel with a hug.

Perfect for a warm, not hot but warm, sunny day. Or a rainy day, when you don't have the sun to cheer you up but instead you have this charming scent radiating from your skin.

This gave me a migraine and made me nauseous for two days . I used to use the older version and it didn’t have that effect on me.

ChelleBelle84

I’ve reviewed this before and I still feel the same way. THIS should have been the “eau de parfum” version to the OG parfum that was released in 1921 instead of the eau de parfum version that was released in 1986. People mistake the eau de parfum version from 1986 as being the OG, but it’s not really. The 1921 parfum version is beautiful and this compliments it beautifully as the most suitable eau de parfum. I suppose in 1986, everything was so BIG and over the top, that it was the reason that release was so brash. That is exactly how it was on me, brash, it was that way then and how it still is now.

I wore this version for my son’s wedding recently and got so many compliments from people who lingered longer hugging me. I heard them sigh as if feeling comforted, relaxed, and content. This is exactly how I want people to feel around me so I want my scent to be that way too. This works beautifully with my skin that it’s my signature evening/formal scent. It’s great year round.

LSAUG

Wow, I really like this interpretation of #5. If my original bottle of #5 smelled like this one, I would have kept it. This is softer, gentler. More of a gentle powder puff of clean and not the astringent antiseptic harshness of the original. Or the toilet bowl cleaner smell of L'eau. Softened Chanel classic aldehyde, a sweet almost mandarin orange like neroli to start and as the perfume develops it becomes an ylang powder puff dream w/ a soft vanilla. This has a clean musk finish w/ sandalwood that I really, really like. Just upgraded this to a love and it will go on my want shelf. I personally think this is more complex than Dames Vanilla Farfalle, which I happen to like very much, but I decided I didn't need it because I have lots of very powdery perfumes in my collection. This #5 is different. It is powdery, but not overly so and there is a creamy texture here as well, w/ a brightness that can translate well into the hotter months. This is a year-round perfume worn by a woman of good taste, style and refinement. If you want a # 5 but find the original too much and the L'eau to be too bright and kind of a citrus toilet bowl cleaner smell this is the #5 for you. It is the #5 for me. This is a brilliant Chanel. The Goldilocks of #5's.

SuzanneS

Eau Premiere 2022 formulation.
Aldehydes and a strong ylang presence open Premiere. So much ylang I briefly thought of Samsaras ylang moments. The aldehydes are pretty much present until the drydown. I kept thinking as it was developing it needed peach. Peach is present in the edp to smooth down the aldehyde. Instead you get a rather sharp aldehydic opening because modern noses think peach is rather passe..

Its a powdery, fluffier 5. I compared it to the current edp and when it went into the powdery vanillic drydown, I feel that is its best moment. The sandalwood helps this tremendously. Sillage and longevity is average.

This could be a Chanel daily driver. I personally think L'eau is the best updated 5 for the times. Premiere is for 25-35 yr not ready to embrace Mrs. 5. A 5 with training wheels. This is well done with the typical Chanel dna but something diddnt quite sit right with me. Maybe I need to wear it more, or in the 8 yrs since its been out, other fragrances like it are more interesting like Dame Vanille Farfellue, Patou Joy Forever edt. It tows the Chanel 5 line very well.

Edit: Lasts on fabrics forever

Eyisa

I absolutely love this perfume. It’s deep and cosy without losing its lightness and freshness.

@cowboyfuel People "should" like and wear what they want without people like you "should"ing on them. Maybe someone wants a fragrance like No.5 that is not quite as polarizing, or perhaps something they can wear out without offending those around them. Also, the OG No.5 is not at all modernized, its still very much considered old fashioned, so I have no idea how you get that impression. You sound like the only one here who needs to "mature".

Miasha

Does anyone know if there is a big difference between this version and the one from 2008? I had tried the 2015 version a couple of years ago, and loved it so much... and this christmas I recieved a much anticipated gift - Eau Premiere, but I think it is the 2008 version. It is a tall bottle of 20 ml, with two refills. And I was kind of disappointed, because it is not at all like I remembered. Can my perception at that time have been so wrong, or are the two versions really so different?? Please help me here, if someone knows!

LanaDelSlay

The jasmine and sandalwood saves this perfume. perfect for spring

cowboyfuel

The floral Coca-Cola vibes are nice, but is it worth the money? Not really. It’s a top-notch flanker of No° 5, but I prefer the OG — it’s already been modernized. There wasn’t much of a reason to create this. People turned off by No° 5 should mature.

EugeniaEliette

First I get astringent, acid citruses. Apart from that, just lovely. I don’t believe it resembles No. 5 L’Eau, which is one of my favorites.

umayy

it smells just like coke. love it

itter of the soul

This one wins ! Much nicer & fancier than N5. More Modern I would also say . When I wear it , I feel calm & fresh .. actually when you wear it feels like you just drank something refreshing! LOOOVE it.

ricep0et

this is beautiful and inoffensive. wear when you're NOT going to piss anyone off

Marie76

I love this so much. It's warmer but lighter, a cloudy version of Chanel No5. It honestly feels even classier. It makes me happy.

nterix

Much lighter and versatile than the Eau de Parfum. A less aldehydic and ylang-ylang heavy opening that transitions into a smooth and bright floral and a vanilla-strong and vetiver base. On my skin this is aldehydes, ylang-ylang, vanilla, and vetiver. A bit sweeter than the Eau de Parfum. I especially love this version for not only being more of an easy wear, but also for the vetiver. I get very noticeable vetiver from this fragrance, and it adds a gorgeous touch to this flanker. This is my spring and summer N°5 when the heat doesn't agree with the Eau de Parfum. Like the Eau de Parfum, I wish it lasted longer on my skin but reapplying N°5 is a treat in my book.

sweetlikecandie

I just received this and wow! At first it was hard to get used to, I’ve never experienced a fragrance with this much aldehydes in it. At first it smelt like a bar of dove soap, I liked it but it was different. The more I smelt it the more rose and sandalwood popped out. It’s very pretty and a great interpretation of a modern day no 5. I would say it’s still slightly too heavy to wear in the summer, it’s cozy and warm. You may have to check out the Leau version if you’re looking for a summer option, I haven’t smelled it but it seems to have a bit more citrus that would suit better. It’s one of those fragrances you wear when you wanna feel on top. It’s not sexy, it’s not cute, it’s not overly feminine, it’s just powerful. I mean, you could definitely make it sexy and feminine if you want to but in general it’s just a very bold statement of a boss ass bitch.

CeeTee

Okay; I need to retract my 1st review. This is great! It look me a few wearings to “get it” - but OMG- I do now!

This is my 1st aldehidic frag. I use it as a personal shield and armor for work when I’m expecting a sneak attack or giving a tough presentation. I feel strong and courageous. I actually keep it at my desk, since I work from home. (I also find it beautiful, but the psychological part is a bonus.) I didn’t think it would be sexy, but my husband loves it! What?!

This is an unexpected love, and a staple in my collection! Word of caution: it projects for about 3 hours. Then it fades wayyyy too quickly. Thats usually a deal breaker for me, but I love it so much, it’s worth it.

Cassiopeia1912

I just love this one! A more contemporary version of a good old no 5. Btw, layering this w a drop of vintage perfume no 5 makes it last forever and adds a bit smooth touch.

Allegoria

Reviewer Dani Nebula (see below) wrote the perfect review; so I will just add how much I love this fragrance myself. Brought up with a family of woman who loved Chanel, this is perfection for me.

In the winter I will wear the #5 body cream with it; otherwise — it is a wear anytime, anywhere, any season scent.

Just beautiful!

Dani Nebula

The perfect fragrance to wear to bed and after a nice shower! Very soft, clean, fizzy/bubbly, floral, and slightly woody. If this scent could be a color, it would be white or silver as it’s very cold

It has the same delicate nature of the pure parfum and aldehydes are used in a similar way to brighten the florals and make bubbles. Still very abstract like the original but the jasmine and wood stands out the most to me in the beginning but settles into a nice bright, fizzy floral with hints of vanilla.

This is how you do a proper flanker of a true classic. Taking the original and taking things away and adding something else while maintaining the identity of its predecessor but also creating a personality and character of it’s own. Very pretty

It lasts quite a while on me, Chanel fragrances tend to last a good amount on me. I get about 6-8 solid hours! Projection seems ok but idk how well others can smell it but I mainly wear perfume for my own enjoyment

Overall this is beautiful and I think it could surprise some people as it is very different from the well known EDP but this is honestly more of a flanker of the pure parfum than a flanker of the EDP in my opinion as they share more qualities

RachRach

I love love love this fragrance. I cannot bear the Chanel n°5 because it smells so strong, i had to find an alternative and this is one🤩 Nevertheless i think the projectivity is weak like i sprayed 3 times 15 min later i can only smell it on mu clothes but nothing much if i move. Nobody mentions it in the comments so it might be me. I’ll try more than 5 sprays hopefully someone will be able to smell it when i’ll pass by.

Miss.Tara

I think I just found the closest version to the parfum version, imo. Eau de Parfum, and Eau de Toilette are too harsh for me.
L’Eau is pretty and sparkling, but it is a little too lemon-y sometimes. I don’t think it’s actual citrus notes, it’s probably the aldehydes. But sometimes it’s a little much.
I’ve started spraying my bath water with it, and it’s so strong that the whole bath smells divine and I’m lightly scented when I get out.

This Premiere though! This is soft from the get go. Everything is rounded and pillow-y. For nearly a 1/5 of the price per ml compared to the Parfum, this is a steal! To be fair, the Parfum uses the tiniest daub to surround me in a light cloud of No 5 that at the same time is airy and delicate. But I’m getting that same texture here with the Premiere with 2 sprays.
This is day/night casual/fancy and great in both warm and the cold weather. Timeless.

HippieSoul222

To my nose, this smells like the Chanel No. 5 EDP sillage, if that makes sense. Like, if a classy lady was walking by and you caught her scent trail and all of the notes were blended so it really only left an impression of the scent. That is this. They softened Chanel No. 5 and bottled the sillage. Very pretty for warm days! Longevity really surprised me. A soft, solid, 6 hrs.

Sapienta

Incredible. Jacque Polge is a true olfactory master. This one preserves the heart of beloved, vintage no. 5 but adds a new dimension with such a mastery. Ylang and vanilla. Amazing

ScentBliss555

Perfect Chanel scent. Light, floral, bubbly. Great for summer. For me, this is a better scent than Chanel No 5 L'eau and better performance than Chanel Gabrielle Essence. There are some hard notes for me to wear in here (Rose and Ylang-Ylang) that are smooth and rounded out by the aldehydes and neroli. It is an absolutely beautiful perfume. Dashalu a couples reviews down has explained every nuance perfectly.

MargotM

I love you.
Never change.

Dashalu

I have a complicated personal relationship with this one. This one I wear for me only, and it’s such a cozy one to wear for bedtime. So soft & comforting. My favorite No5. I personally can’t do no5 edp or edt. And I’m not in love with the other flanker (L’eau)… but, this one is special to me. I would say it is a powder bomb! Especially on my clothing. And if you don’t like powder, it might not be for you. I have a love and hate relationship with neroli. Sometimes it smells good to me and makes me feel clean/I crave it, and other times it makes me feel kind of sick lol. Here the neroli does that for me too. This one smells completely different on my skin vs my clothes. On my skin it’s a slightly fizzy, slightly sweet, powdery, soapy, ylang ylangy scent. It’s soft and pleasant. It truly reminds me of the smell of powder/makeup. And makes me think of a spring day and a white shirt, or a cozy white sweater. It’s comforting. Not “old” but has a nurturing quality to it. I wouldn’t wear this on a date with my husband or with a “sexy outfit”. But when I’m just snuggling with my loved ones/kids at home and the weather is at that awkward spring-summer stage this is what I want to wear. This perfume isn’t loud/arrogant. It doesn’t care to seduce, attract, or appeal to others. It doesn’t care to smell sophisticated or expensive. But at the same time it’s not cold hearted but warm. It’s just comforting. It’s also a really wonderful cozy bedtime fragrance. It’s very soapy and reminds me of clean skin. A little spritz after a shower on the neck/chest feels so good. The opening with the aldehydes is beautiful! Wish it lasted longer. My issue with it is how it smells on clothing. On my clothing it’s just straight POWDER and heavy ylang ylang essential oil. And it projects that too/lasts a long time. I have to be careful as even though I enjoy powdery and ylang ylang it’s just too much. But on skin - I love it!

Lemxx

Gentle femme-fatale in a bottle, powdery sexy skin. I really like the original No 5 but I feel old when I spray it however this version is way more modern, less aldehydic. Unfortunately it doesn’t have powerfull longevity like the original :(

Eaudeparfumhungry

A beautiful fragrance with similar notes to Chanel No 5, but its a softer, more pleasant fragrance. Bravo, Chanel!

Nosyla

The only reason that I don’t wear No 5 is that my mother in law wears it so well. It would be rude to copy her. I manage to get my No 5 kicks with Eau Premiere, which has a drop of vanilla in it. Really, really good flanker, well done Chanel.

Bluebirdpsyche

Eau Premiere is an amalgamation of two key childhood components of memento for me. The first is, creamsicles! They are fizzy orange sherbet on the outside and creamy vanilla ice cream on the inside popsicles and I would feign for these things!

The second is flinestones chewable vitamins! Lol I get a vague whiff of remembrance, of a citric metallic flavor of fortified minerals…

Eau premiere opens with effortlessly crisp slightly cool aldehydes, like a breeze of fresh air. Bright and solar, carefree and sparkling, a clean soapy creamy impressionist custard haze of ylang ylang and neroli and sandalwood. Dry down is a soft, sensual, and enveloping woody powder of smooth vanilla. Transitions easily from morning snuggles to afternoon meetings to evening black tie to weekend casual….

When I first got this I was anosmic or something because I would have said this had moderatele longevity. Now, it lasts easily 8+ hours and has close but decent bubble projection.

Scissorslizardspock

Beautiful musky sandalwood and ylang ylang lifted by aldehydes and smoothed out with vanilla. Elegant, sophisticated, comforting. Perfect as a signature scent. Pairs well with so many other Chanel scents, especially Jersey, Bois des Iles, and of course No 5 parfum. Buy the biggest bottle, it’s perfect.

LanaDelSlay

I'm not a huge fan of the Chanel n5 perfume, it's only when it dries down that it smells really nice, a bit musky, flowery, woody, and it's beautiful

FaithHopeLove

I’m noticing a slight similarity to Estée Lauder White Linen.

frag-overdose

Allure Homme Edition Blanche, Allure Homme Sport Cologne, N°5 L’Eau and N°5 Eau Premiere have some sort of similarity when it come to their citrus notes, the only differences are either the citrus is creamier, zesty, tangy or vibrant with a master tweak of here and there.

I love Eau Premiere since its first launch, and I do feel that the 2015 version has more of a vibrant citrus opening when compared to the old ones which I don’t mind at all because I enjoy both formulations.

thepinch

I love this fragrance! It has #5's clean statement and serenity in an outspoken eau de cologne presentation.

HoneyRum

It’s nice, projection and longevity aren’t great on me personally and the opening kind of reminds me of whatever products they use to clean public restrooms, which isn’t necessarily bad it’s just the first thing I thought of when I smelled it. I wouldn’t buy this myself, but if I got it as a gift I’d absolutely wear it

Tsatsenskaya

Regarding the note structure, I wonder where the lemon impression comes from. It is not listed in the note structure, but is is a top impression. I consider myself familiar with neroli and that is not it. The vanilla-sandalwood at the base give it a smooth warm feeling, while ylang-ylang ties everything together. This is very soft and plush. Smells niche. This is one of my all time favorite perfumes.

Ollietine

It reminds me of Jergens soap.. fresh out of shower.. floral, soapy and musk.

sanitsa

I agree with s.pellegrino, to me it smells of lemon bars generously dusted with powdered sugar + champagne.

Iloveloveperfume

I love this perfume and can’t get enough of it. I have to keep spraying it all day long because It fades away too fast. A real shame. If only it had the longevity of Angel or Alien.

LouiseRose

For so many years I wanted to like, but just never cared for No5, it was too strong and old wood musk smelling on me, (Coco is also). A few years ago I purchased a few of Chanel exclusives; Gardenia, Crystalle and Beige, I like them, they are crisp, bright and pretty. Recently I branched out and took a chance on No5 L’eau and I really like the new softer side of No5. Just last week, based on these reviews I purchased No5 Eau Premiere and I have now found my perfect fragrance! It is clean and sweet, with lovely florals and vanilla, just a simply heavenly scent. Perfect fragrance to wear to anytime of day or season, especially nice to de-stress at night.

FabulouslyLazy

I used to think that I’d never ever been able to wear such an iconic fragrance yet the day has come! No. 5 is an abstraction, a floral reverie with a prominent sandalwood base. It conveys an overall feeling of sopapiness and powder which is just not anyone’s cup of tea. L’Eau Premier smells less heavy than the EdP/EdT and perhaps it’s the first step to acquire a “no.5 taste”. A must have.

P.S. my SO loathes No 5 on his sister (EdP) and can barely stand it on me, anytime we happen to wear this perfume on the same day he thinks it’s a conspiracy lol

bel.gravia

Exactly like the 1986 relaunch except it is less aldehydic woody and more aldehydic floral. It has lots of May roses, fresh and green.

dina.dnoone

Love love love

Harmony Grace Elohim

At first I liked it but I was not sure that I understood it. It reminds me a lot of the EDT, especially when I first put it on. And then it shifts and transforms into a lot more sandalwood and vanilla, which I don't at all mind. It's soft, dry, somber and sophisticated. I can't say that it is swoon worthy. I liked it very much at first but I still am a little undecided on whether I absolutely love and adore it. I'm learning that, for some reason, Chanel perfumes don't last very long on the skin. The 80s No5 EDT used to do just fine, way back in the day. So I'm in the process of experimenting with which Chanel perfumes, which will last longer spraying on clothes and if it is worth buying them at all. I did go ahead and buy this one. It's not a favorite and it doesn't last very long on the skin. I really do miss the No5 EDT from the 80s, which was perfect. It seems to me that Chanel has lowered their quality on their perfumes quite dramatically much. I'm no longer a fan of Chanel, who seems to have truly intensely cheapened their brand. But on occation I still do wear this one, since I have it.

DraganaJ

Best version/flanker of No 5! L'Eau seamed more interesting in the beginning, but faded quickly from my skin.
I simply love it!

blkleather_redlace

"Modern, airy" rendition means "smells like nothing," it seems. I'll just copy paste my review of L'eau because it's almost the same: Not No 5 at all. Lemon aldehydes and a strange aquatic note...perhaps the orange blossom? Honestly it smells like almost nothing. This must be for people who hate perfume but want to buy a Chanel fragrance.

Intrepid-Taste-1111

this is my Chanel flanker. as much as I adore original No. 5, I sometimes find it a bit in my face when I wear it myself, like I’m not woman enough for it lol. with Eau Premiere I'm not gasping for air, but I get to keep the original No. 5 DNA. the best way I can describe Eau Premiere is it’s like the millennial “no-makeup makeup” version of No. 5. it’s perfect. such a vibe

vrinsun

The opening is gorgeous! Ethereal, fresh, airy, just absolutely amazing!
I feel like the dry down gave the “old lady” vibes, nonetheless gorgeous, just a very different “mood” opens up as the perfume sets.. more heavy mature, elegant..
Love it! A masterpiece!
Would love to have a bottle for special occasions!

Bloomsbury Barton

I adore this modern take on No 5.
Eau Premiere is elegant, classy and just about perfect for all occasions and all seasons. A great all-rounder. I would certainly re-purchase once my bottle is empty.

Callista25

Current No. 5 Eau Premiere is to me, the true edp of no. 5 parfum, more that no. 5 edp is. Eau Premiere is truer to the emphasis of aldehydic floral abstraction, while no. 5 edp has more of a woody/polysantonol vibe (which is why I think some feel it smells dated).

The aldehydic opening of Eau Premiere is more citrus than soapy giving more of a champagne effect. The florals are beautiful but subdued. The drydown is heavy on vanilla/clean musk. This perfume really shines in warm weather, but can be worn year round. Non offensive but interesting enough for me to enjoy wearing. It is less feminine than the parfum or the edp.

No. 5 parfum is still my favorite version, preferred for cooler weather. Eau Premiere is second, when I want something more refreshing. Then the body products. I originally dismissed L'Eau but it is growing on me as a gym scent.

ChelleBelle84

I LOVE this scent! It’s my wear anytime, anywhere, scent. It fits into whatever you are doing. Work? It is beautiful, fresh and clean. Casual? Goes beautifully with jeans and white t shirt. Dressy? Also goes beautifully for even special occasions with its slightly powdery dry down. You can dress it up or down. However you choose, for whatever your mood. I love its versatility. If I was going somewhere and had to choose only one scent, it would be this one.

Starts off fresh and citrus-y, nothing too sharp, with clean aldehydes, nothing too harsh, gentle florals, nothing too allergy-inducing, with sandalwood and vanilla dry down, nothing too sweet or powdery. Just a well balanced scent to be enjoyed by everyone.

This scent is calming and soothing while also helping me stay focused. It is very classy, yet other people love the scent as well and will linger for a longer time hugging me. I sometimes hear them sigh contently. Beauty is others feeling comfortable around you, and this feels comfortable while being classy, fresh, and clean at the same time. Beautiful signature scent that you and others can enjoy. I can’t imagine anyone being offended by this.

Edit to add: Callista25 wrote something in her review above that basically said that this is what the EDP should have been. I totally agree. That is why I own the parfum and Eau Première.

miewtje

I have been wearing chanel no 5 EDP for years now and had never tried any of the flanker before when I decided to purchase a small bottle of eau premiere. It was a blind purchase and I got the 35 ml bottle.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. I instantly regretted not having shown any interest in trying it before. In the base it's still no5. This one is way closer to the skin though and it's waaay more powdery. It's silky, fluffy and airy. It makes me feel really safe and comfy.

The only issue with me is the sillage that remains so shy after the dry down. Although that is kind of the point of this fragrance. It's supposed to be a hushed down and more youthfull/playful version of no5. The issue lies not with the perfume it lies with my preference. :) therefore I oversprayed the hell out of this beauty the first couple of tries and a tiny 35 ml bottle tends to run empty pretty swiftly that way. I feel like I got the hang of it now though and I am learning to appreciate it's silent presence.

My perfume collection is ever growing yet I feel like I could just own eau premiere and the edp and live happily ever after. :)

Ferra_Verto

Bright beautiful lemony-aldehydes, sweet ylang, with soft vanilla and sandalwood. Just the right amount of powdery freshness, lovely in the warmth of spring and summer. A lot easier to wear than the classic N5, a young/younger woman can confidently wear this.

clwhit

Fell in love at first sniff. It's such a clean (but not cleaning supplies) feel. It's not overbearing at all - somewhat gentle but strong at the same time. It feels like a well-balanced person. I've never tried any variation of Chanel No. 5, and now I don't think I want to try the others if they're any stronger than this.

LinaSVas

Clean musk smell that has some small resemblance to the original formal. This has a slight "new money wanting to seem like old money to fit in upper society" feel to me but it could just be my imagination running away a bit.
it is very light and doesn't have that lingering sillage. I believe both men and women could wear this.

Zethre

Very nice.
THE most sparkling top notes, and they a good while

maddy.cucu

Powdery soft and sweet aldehydes and iris. Reminds me of a bit of SL Clair de Musc

Sunkissed

Gentle, clean, soapy and with the soul of No 5. Elegant but easy to wear and very versatile. The dry down is so beautiful, it is a powdery and slightly sweet vanilla. Feminine, comforting and soft.
While I love the original and plan on giving it a try again in the future, I wanted something lighter for everyday wear. I am a huge fan of the L'eau version, but it doesn't last much on me so I decided to try Eau Première and I'm so glad I did. They are different, but similar enough that if you own one, you don't necessarily need the other... But I confess I may not resist and get L'eau too in the future, especially because I think it works better in the hot summer than EP, which for me works in every weather but extreme heat and cold.
Unisex, but leans feminine in my opinion. Suits any age.
Bonus: my husband loves it on me!

MissChanel85

This smells amazing! Sweet, airy floral, simply perfection!

keyshaedreana

This is my signature fragrance. Which is a big statement to make considering my growing perfume collection. But this was the first perfume that I've ever fell in love with. The original No5 is a bit too mature for me. Premiere, however, is ageless. This one reminds me of bubbling champagne and drys down to a creamy powder on my skin. To echo another commenter below, I *adore* wearing this one to bed because I find it to be very comforting/soothing. I also love to spray this on fresh out of the shower due to the "soapiness" quality of it.

A song that comes to mind when I wear this one is "Vanity" by Mica Levi from the Jackie film score....timeless, elegant, with a soft touch of glamour. Forever in love with Chanel No 5 eau Premiere <3

Bombalurina

I always used to be afraid of Chanel No5. The first experience I had with it was spraying it while shopping and feeling like I’d been attacked- I wrote them all off after that

Now that I’m a lot more into the fragrance world I kept thinking about it. I didn’t think I was ready to try the EDP again, and I discovered this one and thought I’d go for it- knowing slightly what to expect from it.
And I actually really like this one! I know what aldehydes smell like now from my first liaison with No5, and afterwards this dries down to a really nice creamy sweet scent, not what I’d expect from the first blast!

Maybe I’ll meet with No5 EDP again sometime now that I’m no longer 16 with an untrained nose

scentedcyndi

I really love this - especially for the warmer months. I like it almost as much as the original Chanel No. 5 edt. This is like a gin and tonic to me. Cool, crisp and refreshing - perfect for a hot summer's day.

Callista25

This is a nice, easy-to-like version of no. 5. It was my gateway Chanel. Citrus replaces the soapy aldehydic opening, and there is more vanilla and less florals. Eau Premiere is unisex, and can be worn year round.

What makes it universally likeable also makes it less distinctive. It is to no. 5 what no. 19 poudre is to no. 19. Sometimes we do have to be non-offensive in our perfume choices. And on those occasions i do like to wear something that still smells good to my nose. Eau premiere fits that standard as does no. 19 poudre.

From what Ive read, the previous formulation of Eau Premiere sounds like it was more distinctive.

Westender01

Love, love, love.
The opening is when I notice the obvious nod to the original No. 5. This phase lasts about 45 minutes on my skin.
I definitely pick up on the aldehyde-y, super bougie soapy vibe, just like the original. I like the opening, but I LOVE the drydown. In the base what I pick up on most is a beautiful, gentle, and feminine mix of powder and sandalwood. Very soft and quite different from the original, IMO. In the drydown of the original I get a kind of screechy, vintage, unpleasant vibe. The drydown of this one is the total opposite. It is soft, gentle, and timeless. Not dated at all. For some reason powdery fragrances feel very comforting to me, so I love wearing this one to bed, especially if I am feeling anxious...it has a calming effect on me.

Bouquet Bleu

Imagine the edt's cleanliness but creamier, softer, for everyday use. Even for a 18 year old girl. But beautiful on a 48 year old woman as well. A scent of appeasement for self. Another put of together and get your sh+t together scent. That's what the image Madame Chanel projected, anyway? Or at least could inspire modern women to be. Fearless, elegant, and still feminine.

frangiris

Tested on a strip. To me, it smells somewhere between the No 5 EDP and the L'Eau. It is almost like a tiny bit of EDP was layered with L'Eau, and some of the Gabrielle florals without their sweetness. It is nice, but I think it would be redundant to have this if you already have No 5 EDP and L'Eau. It definitely has appeal: it is modern like L'Eau, but less fleeting and has more (floral) body to it. The opening was a bit too citrusy to my taste, with the neroli, but not bad in general. Very elegant, modern, luxurious, clean, unisex fragrance that could work year round except for very cold winters and highly formal events.

nida_t

So old school for my taste. I love citrus scents but this one didn't work well on me.

TabledThoughts

Recently purchased a small edp and was entirely disappointed to find it only lasted on my skin less than 2 hours.

Returned.

✨°5 L'eau doesn't last very long either but to me it smells better.

Sjess

No5 is a bit too classy / ladylike for me, but I've really embraced the 2 flankers! The L'Eau has been a spring/summer favourite for the past 2 years and now I've added Premiere for the colder months. I love the timelessness, smoothness and recognizability (Chanel frags always have this particular note making them instantly recognizable as CHANEL), but with a younger and more casual edge. Totally wearable with both jeans and a simple t-shirt or a nice dress and everything in between.

fleader

I bought this mainly for the nostalgia it brings up, but I've been surprised how much I actually wear it. This scent is so calming. It is delicious, but also completely satisfying.

I find the original no 5 a bit scary, with all its animalic and heavy notes and in all its powdery glory. It's a perfume I appreciate and have loved on others all my life, but that I just don't feel I can pull off! This, however, has everything I love and nothing I'm scared of in no 5. The L'Eau version is too citrusy for my tastes—in becoming fresher than the original, it loses some of the original's warmth and comfort. Here, none of that warmth is missing. This is pure comfort. This is the smell you have smelled all your life on the women who raised you and taught you and passed you on the street. It's just been made more approachable.

nicolasnmc

This is my first real experience smelling no 5 in any form. Yep now I know EXACTLY what aldehydes smell like!!! They made their way into tooooons of cleaning and soap products. I do like this though it smells a little mature. I love how sparkly and effervescent and bubbly it smells. It’s so fresh and soapy and clean. Just wouldn’t be my first pick for my gal personally but I can definitely understand the hype :)

mademoiselle-c

This has been reformulated down to a shadow of its former self. Gone are the sparkling, fresh, lemony top notes. We are instead left with soap, soap, and more soap. This fragrance is a shell of its former self. If you’re able to get an older bottle, snatch it up.

milkyjoa

Yes, this does smell like soap, but a very luxurious French-milled soap. It's thick, foamy, and fresh. In a way, it also reminds me of a lemon meringue pie. Even though citrus isn't a listed note, something gives it a very bright quality and combined with the vanilla and other notes, this is actually kind of yummy. This definitely contains the soul of the original No 5, but reborn this century. I wear this when I want to feel classy and fresh.

Jacklyn's Perfumery

Oh this fragrance is stunning..It is a modern take on Chanel No 5 and when I first sprayed it I was like man this smells exactly like number 5 that I had to wait months later to get my Chanel No 5 out and compare my old bottle of premier I gave away. Now I can really see the similarities and differences. In Chanel No 5 you get predominately the aldehydes, florals and much powder and it smells like expensive soap and you can tell it is a vintage classic fragrance but in the modern version of eau premier now citrus has been added and amped up which makes it sweeter and fresher and the soapy powderiness has been turned down. It makes it not as intense as Chanel No 5 but the heart is there and in some cases I almost prefer it more to No 5 just because of its modern take. I could see this newer generation really loving premiere more. At first I thought no I love Chanel No 5 more but now I can honestly say I'm divided because on the one hand I love how dense and powdery with a sweet tinge of rose the original has but then as of lately I really love how fresh and citrusy this newer premier is. I gave my bottle away to my daughter thinking there was no difference because on the first initial spray there really wasn't to my nose so you really have to look for it and compare to really notice the differences but once you know the differences you may actually enjoy this newer interpretation more. But that's the way it is in perfumery..your tastes are always changing and that is a good thing. I regret giving this away..what was I thinking..I probably will be getting a new bottle soon enough..lol.

Well, it's not as sharp, not as harsh, not as old fashioned, not as obnoxious as the original. Yet it is still very soapy, dry, unkind and leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth. I enjoy this way better than the original (yup, I wear it to bed). However, there are way more enjoyable niche offering out there with a similar price tag.

P.S. Do not overspray.

RubyWooHoo

Eau Premiere smells like soap, but in the best way. Not screechy sweet body wash, but old school, triple-milled, creamy lathering French stuff. I can't pick out any individual notes, it just smells warm and clean. Quietly beautiful - think pearls vs giant diamonds.
Back when we were still hugging people I'd always get compliments on this.

School7070

A more citrusy, lighter version with the same DNA as the original No5.
Just wish it was a bit more dramatic, and though I do like the scent, I’m pretty old school and will stick to the original. I know No 5 gets a lot of hate but I bloody love it and that’s all that matters.

yiotagreece

Ethereal...This is the word that comes to my mind every time I smell this masterpiece. It's the finest powdery rose alhdehydic fragrance that turns to creamy powdery cleanness but not soapy magic. Wear it morning and night and feel like a princess! You can overspray as it's not heavy or cloying.

Ivanqa

I love you Eau Premiere. You are the loveliest of them all. Smooth and creamy, delicate, sexy, enticing, goergeous, gentle, soulfull, romantic, elegant, inviting, mature..
I don't know how, but it will spoil you and make you feel oh so special :)

KittyDeBeauvoir

A gorgeous, mature, classy, and modern flanker.

Despite some embarrassingly rude price-tags, Chanel can still offer a delightful beauty or two.
I wanted to try this because I recently got a sample of the current formulation of the OG, Chanel No.5, and wanted to try the "modern interpretation". And you know what? It's classy.
It's extremely effervescent. So very sparkling with some gentle lemon thrown in. I honestly feel like I'm wearing champagne. It's bright, pale-yellow, sharp yet mellowing with mild soapy classiness.

This might sound weird, but the creature I imagine wearing this the most is: Galadriel.
Yes, indeed. The greatest of elven women.
I don't know if Chanel's intended market demographic were queenly Middle-Earth elves, but that's my impression here. So wear this if you want to be tall, ethereal, aloof, magical, and "a light for when all other lights go out" (Hawhaw, LOTR reference; go me).

On the other hand - in a more (standard) Earth setting (Don't come at me, LOTR fans); this has a classical Hollywood vibe. Very stylish and a high-point in perfumery. Your A-List actress with perfectly stylied hair (not one strand out of place), form-fitting bodice dresses, manicured nails, and resonant clipped accents would bathe in this. The longevity is decent! Bloody yes! I love smelling this on my skin. Again, it feels like it was made to blend with skin and make it better. Sillage is sexy-classy head-turner without b*tch-slapping anyone.

A new phase of Chanel No.5 that doesn't disappoint. It has much less of the classic Chanel No.5 soapiness, and bubbles have been added to the aldehydes. I honestly don't think it's any worse or better than the original - it just depends on individual preference. :)

Kitty rating: 8.5/10.

A lemon sorbet with woody dry down for summertime I'm thinking, doesn't say winter seasons to me, too crisp. I will not be swapping No.5 Eau de Parfum for Premiere in spritzing my bedroom, Premiere doesn't have that feminine classic feel to me. But then at 52 I'm probably not who No.5 Eau Premiere is aimed at. It was interesting to compare the two and I will wear Premiere in the summer time to give it life and a proper second go.

Update 6 hours later: Long lasting compared to No.5 Eau de Parfum. No.5 Eau Premiere does the Chanel business I recognise it as a No.5 scent and have grown rather fond by the end of today.

Ajaycheshire

Beauty in a bottle. This is old Hollywood wearing a different dress. Stunning. If No.5 is too dated or heavy for you, then this is the perfect solution. Put on your jeans,a white shirt, Gucci loafers ,an Hermes scarf ,a coupe de Champagne.....and off you go!

dyinglotus

Smells like vanilla baby powder, but in the best way. Also reminds me of the smarties candy in the very beginning, with ample amounts of luscious vanilla. This is stronger than the modern original and lasts longer in my experience. Also smells better than the original, more vanilla and doesn't smell dated (not that i mind dated smells!). I also think i detect ylang ylang as the most prominent floral note.
At first, i thought this was a little boring, but after reading your reviews and the imagery you all provided, I can now experience the same thing and now i can't stop smelling this addictive vanilla fragrance. It's so comforting and beautiful, you can't go wrong with it. I only wish it had more strength and sillage, otherwise it's perfect. But honestly the more intimate projection goes well with the skinlike scent of this. Definitely a my skin but better scent for sure!

janedelamare

updating my review:
i love chanel 5 parfum (extrait) and chanel 5 premiere. love love love. i think one is a more youthful version of the other.

i do not like the chanel 5 EDP spray.

PurrParfumFan

This fragrance is like a sparkling drink on a summer’s day
This is the variation of N°5 that caused me to love every version

sarahherbs

There are so many lovely and accurate descriptions of this amazing fragrance. I would say this smells like a less spicy and more sparkly version of the original. It wears like a soapy powdery skin scent, yet has a strong sillage. It’s a strong love for me.

M.Golightly

Time and time again I return to you for you always remind me of what a fragrance should be which is timeless and transcendent. I have written a review for you before and I just want to remind myself why I keep you as one of my signature fragrance.

Eau Premiere reflects me and is like my second skin. The clean aldehydes opens the fragrance and once it settles on my skin the neroli presents herself. Green and fresh. The heart of the Eau Premiere is a chorus of jasmine and rose with powdery sandalwood. My skin perfectly amplifies the floral and sandalwood notes while the demure vanilla takes the backstage.

Eau Premiere for me is transcendent because it is a fragrance masterpiece. It takes a classic and evolves it giving it a new 'phase'. It is transcendent because I think it crosses age, gender, race and time. I personally think this can be worn by anyone at any time and perfect for layering.

Not a lot of fragrances will be like Eau Premiere- one of the few fragrance masterpiece.

istvan.buda.779

On me, just like any other No5, it is very sandalwood dominant. All I get is buttery sweet sandalwood mixed with yilang yilang . on me it smells similair to samsara

Kitskivich

While I typically eschew flankers, Chanel somehow distilled the very best of what I like about Chanel No 5 Parfum into Eau Premiere - and now I love it.

My family always wore the Chanel No 5 Parfum. After one of my college roommates wiped out my bottle, I tried to save money by replacing it with the Eau de Cologne, but I didn't love it. I later went back to the Parfum because it was 'home' to me - and really, I wore No 5 more for sentimental reasons because it was a family favorite.

When the Eau Premiere came out, a salesperson convinced me to try a sample. I was sure I would not care for it because of my experiences with the Eau de Cologne, but I applied a bit to humor her. She was right! I don't know how Chanel did it, but the Eau Premiere is bright, and it retains the notes I love and all of the beauty of the original, without the heavy powder and a couple of other notes that are not my favorite parts of No 5. And, as always, it's beautifully blended. So for me, Eau Premiere is a fragrance I love, and not just worn for familial, sentimental reasons.

LawmaLlama

I thought I was a Coco-only lady who disliked No.5, but I was really wrong. This has grown on me. It does smell exactly like No.5, but is not as painfully strong. It is lighter, comforting, and enveloping, and it completely surprises me that I love it. I don't usually enjoy powdery scents and the aldehydes are somewhat like that, but I really enjoy this classy scent. It isn't what I think of as a "sexy" fragrance, but more classy and timeless. I've been wearing it mostly to bed, but intend to wear more in cooler weather.

Emma92

I have worn this for years and always come back to it. It has a permanent place in my collection. It is so beautiful I am not sure how to review it!

It is a much more accessible, creamy version of No 5 that will suit all ages and lifestyles. No 5 takes more effort to wear (I am under 30 and still see it as a perfume you grow into) whereas you can wear this as much as you like. There are the same fizzy aldehydes and the soapy cottony flowers, but they are rounded out by a much softer base of vanilla. It smells fresh, elegant, clean and warm.

I don't find longevity great with this - probably only a few hours on skin, but it remains for days on clothes. Often I will open my wardrobe and smell it, which makes me crumble every time. That is how I know I love it.

I find a place for both L'eau and this in my collection and they both sit happily in my Top 5.

mimahirn

I own quite a few incarnations of No 5, and I do believe this is my favorite. It’s easy to wear, both elegant and casual. I often feel like my taste in fragrance leads me into full bottle commitments with personalities much louder than mine. That’s No 5 EDP. Or vintage. Or EDT. Eau Premiere is so soft and comforting while performing better than many other Chanel scents. It’s happy memories of bathing my children in warm soapy bath tubs, wrapped in fluffy towels and their little arms and legs massaged with baby lotion. That being said, there is an underlying appeal to Eau Premiere that my husband would describe as sexy... I am attributing that to it’s No 5 DNA. I tend to take a break from it in spring and summer when I sort of go off of fragrance of any kind, but then I remember it’s lovely comfort and I’m right back where I belong.

Rozalina

On my skin, this flanker of No 5 is an exact copy of Samsara. I checked the notes to compare and both perfumes feature a blend of ylang ylang + sandalwood + vanilla + jasmine. Where No 5 EDP is woody floral with a bit of spice and L’Eau is juicy, lemony zest, Eau Premiere is all aldehydic, floral soft powder. Honestly, it literally just smells like Samsara but I would definitely argue this has better lasting power than the bee bottle.

wallywinthrop

Chanel No. 5 L'Eau is lemony cotton over a sheer No. 5 heart.
Eau Premiere is wafting through soft, snowy clouds of aldehydes on a breeze of dry yet tender vanilla.
Both are absolutely gorgeous.
Original No. 5 is lush and fizzy like champagne - while Eau Premiere is sparkling like dew.

vanillaflower77

i find this fragrance zen and exciting at the same time.
its bubbly champagne and red lipstick, diamonds and dreams.

Sherine777

I purchased the No 5 EDP but received this one instead, I sprayed it once and decided to keep it..

It is simply Beautiful..

I agree with giri-boni review below, I do get a Shalimar-esque burnt powdery Vanilla in the dry down..

It's like Eau Premiere is a modern grand-child of 2 great perfumes.

RaeGoLightly

I sampled this. And loved. I own various No 5s, meaning current & vintages, Parfum, Eau de Parfume and Toilet splashes. I am a die hard lover of Coco. I chose to add Allure, which I really liked too.

But I found that on my vintage spree, one of my No 5 is the tall 2007 version, batch 5015.

I really like that one in in the spring and summer. Am thinking I need to resample, come home and compare. I just remember this version being different and warmer. It’s been on my want list for awhile. I remember thinking this would be perfect for layering in different areas with the OG.

Thanks for all the reviews everyone because I thought I was going nuts when I found I had the older version.

codymarieb

This scent is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. It has that original Chanel No 5 DNA but it's softer, more powdery, a bit lighter, less sharp, and has a modern edge. It also has a faint hint of vanilla that sweetens it up a touch and makes it more wearable and pretty. It's something I think anyone age 25 and up could get away with. Even younger if they wore it for the right occasion and with the right clothing.

It's so beautiful and classy.

This is beautiful, elegant, and divine! It opens up with a burst of powder and citrus that smells like lemon in a champagne bubble bath. As it settles the citrus and powder is retained but hints of woody and vanilla notes take over to create a warm, sensual fragrance.

This is one of my all time favorites. It works for any woman of any age. It's a perfect special occasion perfume, a perfect everyday/office perfume, a perfect perfume for any time.

scentnut

I will say it has staying power and solid projection but a tad suffocating for me. I tried it for a few days and something just felt “off” until another compared it to baby lotion. There it is. If you looooove baby lotion, you will love this. This one encompasses all of the “safe” parts of No. 5. I personally prefer the No. 5 EDT that has a little more personality and doesn’t mind expressing herself a bit more. To each their own.

For what it’s worth I also sampled L’eau and I prefer that over this one...a little “fresher” with the lemon accord. I wish Chanel wasn’t so hit or miss with the quality issue.

andreazvon

I have been looking for a clean perfume for so long, one that smells like you've just taken a shower and are rolling around in crisp white sheets in a silk nightgown.. This is exactly that! Very soapy, smells to me exactly like L'Occitane's famous shea butter hand cream. Love love love!

gelkita

I have been craving aldehydes this week.

L’eau that I always considered short lived on my skin, performed so well yesterday when sprayed on me (ie also on my clothes). I was in heaven walking in a cloud of aldehydes all day !

Today I did the same thing with Eau Première that I always thought stronger than L’eau and weirdly enough, Eau Première only lasted half a day and didn’t project around me...

I shall be rebuying L’eau but very unlikely I rebuy Eau Première...

giri-boni

Number five is laying down in a beautiful shalimaresque vanilla. A burnt vanilla. Delicious and one of my favourite fragrances!!!

Scentflower

I LOVE this perfume. I have over 20 fragrances and this is in my weekly rotation. I purchased this prior to its next flanker Chanel no°5 L'eau. This one is better in my opinion. The soapy quality does down on my skin and I'm left with a light vanilla and almost gardenia like smell. It's so beautiful. Do you need this and L'eau? No, L'eau is a lighter version of this. I tell everyone who is scared of No°5 to try them on your skin and start with this flanker.

I wanted my first Chanel perfume to be a special one and what fragrance could better embody the spirit of Chanel than the interpretation of an old but gold classic such as No 5 in a modern key?
Testing them in the store, the No 5 Eau première was the only one that appealed to me, the only one that was so mysterious that kept me wanting to go back for more. I love the classic No 5 but I got myself wondering if it really suited me, if I was ready for it. But just then I realised that I loved slightly more the Eau première. Eau première is a sparkling joy, reserved beauty with some naughtiness, eccentric lady with classiness, simply mesmerizing. The notes are very well blended together, first it comes out as a fresh, frizzy fragrance but when it settles it shows its real Chanel DNA with its aldeheides and soapy notes. This is a perfume that can be appreciated by anyone, even by the less of admirers of Chanel perfumes for it's modern and catchy and stunning. In my skin the perfume tends to fade away rather quickly but if sprayed on clothes it can stay there forever and they Will small great even after a week. For as much as I love to wear it, I try not to do it as often as I want because I'm afraid of running out of it. So I particularly treasure it for special occasions.

AveParfum

I haven't been praising Chanel much these days, as I'm not happy with the chemical, withery fragrances they are releasing. And some terrible reformulations. But they did good with this one! I feel it's somehow more modern than the original Eau Premiere, which I really loved and regretted not purchasing. I bought this blindly and just crossed my fingers it would be good--and it is!

I echo some who feel this is a lot like No.5. It definitely feels like a modern young lady who resembles her great-great grandmother. It retains the true nature of both No.5 and Eau Premiere. No issues with sillage nor longevity. Love it to pieces and would never part with it.

Catsylvania

This, in my opinion, is the best modern interpretation of the good old classic.

The aldehydes had been skillfully played out to suit the modern noses, there's some sweetness of ylang, the wood is cold and polished, and I can't get over how amazingly this scent tends to leave a velvet-like powdery finish on my skin later during the day. I do have a feel that the current version has somewhat more citruses than the 2007 did, if my memory serves me well. The classic EDP is still the no.5 which is the most wearable for me since it has more aldehydes and more of the cold, dark polished wood but Eau Premiere certainly is easier to pull off for them casual days.

Beautiful, seamless and can totally put an outfit to a whole new level. It also has such a cheerful, bubbly character that it always makes me smile whenever I wear it, and that has been happening quite often.

The silage is perfect. It ain't a long trail, not even a cloud but rather something like an aura which is your personal space that's a comfort zone to you and you only. The longevity is perfect and the scent plays amazing with my skin chemistry.

My one and only concern is how fast I'm going through my bottle! It hasn't even been that long but I've already left such a visible dent in it.

Definitely recommend it.

AMH19

The Eau Premiere is a lighter, fresher version of the classic No. 5 perfume. At first spray the scent is filled with citrus and aldehydes, after it settles it is beautiful mix of powder and vanilla that makes anyone smell absolutely divine. It smells clean, fresh, and intoxicating. It works as an everyday perfume, a special occasion perfume, a perfume for any age.

Callisa'sBlueSky

If positive vibes had a scent then this is it! I absolutely love Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere! While I am a Chanel fan in general this is probably tied with the original No 5 EDP as my favourite Chanel. This smells so good, so happy and comforting. The very creamy, sweet lemon butter feeling of Eau Premiere is gorgeous. It stays classy and elegant, this is suitable for the office or any formal event but at the same time this perfume won’t be out of place at a casual jeans and t-shirt event. It is exquisitely crafted with high quality ingredients. This is very modern and timelessly classic at the same time. There is absolutely nothing I can say that hasn’t been said on here already, I just had to add my two cents to the sea of praise for Eau Premiere!

DrRosie

I received this in a swap (full bottle) I am loving it! After a really long week at work, just picture yourself waking up on Saturday morning you come home from the gym, wash your hair, put on your favorite pair of pajama and you decide "Forget the world, I am staying in doors with my best friends (your TV and ice cream) Spray this perfume on, watch TV and forget about all of your problems. This fragrance is that type of fragrance which you don't wear this for the world, you wear it for you.

jazzfan

If I was forced to choose just one perfume for every occasion and all year long, N°5 Eau Premiere would be at the top of the very short list. I remember being student and having just one perfume for that little touch of comfort and luxury.

N°5 is often described as a glass of champagne in the bubble bath. For Eau Premiere, add cake, flannel pajamas and guilty pleasure book or film. Longevity is good and sillage is more on the intimate side which makes it work appropriate, well any situation you can get yourself into.
At first sniff it's just nice, brighter and sunnier version of the legendary N°5 and can be overlooked in profit of flashier perfumes. I ignored it for years until I got a sample and got irrevocably hooked. You have to wear it to understand just how comfy, happy and fluffy this is and still perfectly dignified.
Genius really.

s.pellegrino

Smells like champagne with lemon cake served for lunch on a breezy, sunny day in may. Absolutely delightful, absolutely gorgeous.

I am IN LOVE. This is perhaps the most successful flanker I've encountered in all of perfumery. As a fan of the original, I was skeptical about the rave reviews Eau Première was getting; I attributed them to good marketing. But wow! This is such a beautiful fragrance, and a true contemporary adaptation of the famous (and now infamous) pioneer that was Chanel No. 5. The aldehydes—the essential alchemical ingredient—are certainly present, but toned down, complementing, elevating, and refracting the ylang-vanilla-white floral accord. The vetiver and rose have also been diminished, making this lighter and less soapy than the original. It's really hard to express how seamlessly this composition has been blended—you just have to experience it. Eau Première is the luminous trace of the memory of a day long ago: carefree, filled with sun, breeze, hope, and the promise of a glorious sunset. An unerringly happy scent: creamy yet sheer, aldehydic yet fresh, sensual yet clean. Less unisex than the original, but who cares? This is a work of art, and would dazzle anybody who wears or smells it. Blooms better in the warmer months, and appropriate for casual or formal occasions. Bravo, Jacques!

denoko

I love both No 5 L'Eau and Eau Premiere very much. Here crispness of L'Eau is replaced by some smoothless. A velvety, creamy, comforting scent. Beautiful.

hadassa

I'm a no friend of aldehydes in perfumery, but today I literally bathed in this perfume. It's already summer in the Middle East and oh god let me tell you that our summer is like being in the epicenter of a firestorm (god forbid).

What can I say, this smell is heavenly. Surprisingly sweet, vanillic, while also being clean and fresh. Imagine as if you have just stepped out of the shower where you doused yourself with luxurious balms and essential oils. Not a bad feeling at all.

I remember the first version of it more powdery (iris), less aldehydic, much less sweet. It was beautiful as well and, in my opinion, more abstract and easier to wear. This one is a full blown bouquet of ylang ylang and white flowers, very heady. There's a slightly peppery edge as well. However, as I said, it's beautiful!

WorldSpinsMadly

While I don't believe in Angel's it's a safe assumption that they probably would smell like Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere. It's wafts are absolutely heavenly. Soft floral notes blended with some light creamy vanilla makes this an incredibly intoxicating and clean perfume! I'm a man and really, really, really enjoy wearing this. I can't imagine anyone NOT finding it's scent bubble nothing short of breathtaking. It smells like a $300 fragrance and could be a signature scent EASILY for either sex seeing it smells like you just bathed with some extremely luxurious soap. Absolutely divine! Probably one of the better designer scents released in the past 20 years.

éciboszi

If I wear this CHANEL, I'm not just a woman, I'm the WOMAN!!!
Classic fragrance is not disturbing the strength of His soft warm embrace.

LaLuNaveed

I love Chanel No 5, maybe even better than Chanel No 5 Premiere, but I feel Chanel No 5 is a mature scent and maybe I need a few more years to pull it off. Premiere is lighter with less aldehydes and more florals and vanilla. But I love this one for what it is to me, a predecessor to the world's most classic and iconic fragrance...

Perfumeaddict777

I've become obsessed lately with Chanel perfumes, I find them so classy and smooth and high quality and surprisingly despite all the negative reviews they last quite a long time on me. I do not think that Eau premier smells like L'eau. I have them both and love them both but they are two completely different perfumes in my opinion. L'eau is a lot lighter, airy sparkly and crisp, like spring air and sunshine with a warm base. Eau premier is thick Rich buttery ylang ylang. It opens with the sparkly aldehydes and some Neroli and quickly transforms into a thick ylang oil. I have pure ylang ylang oil and This smell identical. After wearing it a few times for some reason I was able to smell past the aldehydes. It dries down to be powdery warm, slightly soapy ,with the ylang ylang still apparent. I put eau premier and L'eau side by side. Sprayed on each hand and the difference is big. I love how this smells with my skin chemistry it's really beautiful. It leaves a beautiful scent Trail and when people come in for a hug it's warm and inviting.

bluejellyfish444

I love the way this smells, in my opinion it's better than the No. 5 EDP. Unfortunately it barely lasts, even though the sillage is good :(

frag-overdose

Bright aldehydic floral and a little bit on the sweeter side, Eau Premiere is a daring interpretation of its predecessor in the attempt to make it a lightweight option but never lacking the vibe and attitude of the celebrated classic, N°5. And like what I always do with some of my perfumes, I mix this with my fragrance-free hair cream or gel which I apply liberately every morning before work. Not a pomade guy for sure!

I truly miss the 150ml bottle simply because it gives me 50ml extra so that I can always go overdose with it. Having said that however, I love, love, love Eau Premiere in the famous N°5 bottle, simply because I just like things to be arranged according to shape, size, pattern etc and this definitely gives the unison look that I always want on my perfume shelves.

N°5 Eau Premiere is surely one of the perfumes that I enjoy wearing forever and ever.

Wero94

You know what they say - you can't go wrong with Chanel.

Few years ago I wasn't into Chanel perfumes at all (except Coco EDP, which I love for many years). Now I'm truly in love with most of them. They're just so classy, so elegant, sophisticated and well blended, that they amazed me every time I smell them.

No 5 Eau Premiere is really remarkable. It's warm, cozy and cheerful, yet very classy and it just smells expensive. Eau Premiere is like a sun. Warm ylang with smooth vanilla, citrusy aldehydes and elegant flowers. This perfume is perfect for every season, which in my opinion doesn't happen very often. Eau Premiere suits classic jeans and white shirt, simple warm, cozy sweater and elegant black dress as well. I guess it is like a perfect white shirt - you can wear it everywhere, enytime and in every outfit you want.

Pure perfection.

Marianora67

This fits me like a glove, a kid leather glove- soft and well worn because it’s effortlessly gorgeous, and easy and comfortable to wear without feeling stuffy or overpowering!

I adore this! A One of a kind beauty- The perfect No 5.in my opinion! And I’ve owned every one over the past thirty years! No 5 Original use to be my signature between the ages twenty and twenty four. Absolutely loved it until that love ended and the association to him was too great to continue using it.:( (note sad face not because of him but for saying goodbye to this love!) One of many reasons why flankers are so good!

This encapsulates the women I aspire to be-feminine, sunny(positive and joyful) warm, elegant, classy modern and lovely!

Its luminous uplifting qualities from the Aldehydes and sweet exotic Ylang Ylang remind me of a ballerina in white and pastel yellow joyfully dancing, it’s soft and alluring and also creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness.

Sentiments to the marketing campaign & movie, ‘The one that I want’- (wanted!) ‘ The one I now own!’ This years Christmas present from my family. Sooo happy!

Now my spring/summer signature!

I finally had the chance to sample both Eau Premiere and L'Eau, albeit briefly. In short, Eau Premiere retains more of the soap-like, "No. 5" qualities of what I believe original No. 5 is supposed to have. For those who don't like the original, that "stuffiness" that turns most people away. But obviously, this is much, much softer and modernized, reducing the animalic and aldehydic notes to a whisper. (I've been too intimidated to sample and walk around during a trial of the grand dame herself, lest I offend any "unaccustomed noses" - maybe another day!) I did not get as much creaminess as I expected from the vanilla, but I suspect body heat and evaporation may have a role to play there.

On the other hand, L'Eau is equally soft, soapy, and modern, but has a much more discernble citrus note. It lends a slight juiciness, which also complements the white florals. Much younger, sweeter, and fresher than Eau Premiere - true to today's trends for 20/30-somethings, bringing images of flower girls, bridesmaids, professionals, young royalty...

Despite all of that, my choice is for Eau Premiere. Eau Premiere has a cotton-like texture to me, which I prefer over the citrus. Eau Premiere is the duchess, bride, the lady of the hour. Not sure how to explain that through scent - it serves as a fantastic middle step between L'Eau and original No. 5. I might argue, as a succeeding fragrance, this will be more timeless than L'Eau. In second place to my first love, Coco; I will own full bottles of both of you someday.

VanniGodfrey

No.5 is the sunshine and Eau Première is the breeze. Golden yellow, fleshy ylang-ylang and aldehydes abound. All of the lightweight nuances of No.5 undulate in sheer ebbs and flows in this reinterpretation. Demure, but very present—beautiful performance (especially on fabrics). Eau Première is impossibly youthful and effortlessly glamorous. I feel like I detect iris or orris root in the concoction as well, as to me Eau Première is very lipsticky, similar to No.5 EDT. The enhanced smell of cool, pressed powder is so soothing beneath aqueous waves of the No.5 formula.

This is one of my favorite go-to's in the spring because it smells of forthcoming promise and optimism, like a precursor into the sunny universe of its elder No.5's.

GabbieSmithWindley

Whoa. The similarities to MFK Aqua Vitae Forte are blowing my mind! This Chanel is an absolute must have-so glad I now have a full bottle in my collection. The beauty of aldehydes when done well is something so special.

iris_iris

No 5 Eau Premiere is like the most beautiful journey in the world. Like discovering new grounds for the first time and being astonished by their beauty. Eau Premiere is that warm tingly experience, when You feel a new place that suddenly instead of being alien and unknown suddenly is YOURS. Not forever, but for this short moment. One of the most beautiful feelings a human can ever experience.

Eau Premiere is basically like a Cormac McCarthy book, a big experience, a new world, a discovery and a journey. Something like in "All the pretty horses":

"They rode out along the fenceline and across the open pastureland. The leather creaked in the morning cold. They pushed the horses into a lope. The lights fell away behind them. They rode out on the high prairie where they slowed the horses to a walk and the stars swarmed around them out of the blackness. They heard somewhere in that tenantless night a bell that tolled and ceased where no bell was and they rode out on the round dais of the earth which alone was dark and no light to it and which carried their figures and bore them up into the swarming stars so that they rode not under but among them and they rode at once jaunty and circumspect, like thieves newly loosed in that dark electric, like young thieves in a glowing orchard, loosely jacketed against the cold and ten thousand worlds for the choosing."

Lighter, softer, blessedly patchouli-free version of Chanel no 5. I was given Chanel no 5 as a present, and I love using it as a room spray, but it was too heavy to wear. I smelled this one in a magazine and loved it, bought one, and wear it maybe once a week - I love it but I usually want something "prettier" to wear in public; this is still kind of serious.

It lasts about half as long as the original, and doesn't project as far.

This is my wedding day's perfume❤!

I'm the weirdo that wears Chanel to go hiking and I must say I have warm fuzzy feelings toward this scent because I wore it during a beautiful hike in the Sequoias on a misty day where it was just me and my husband and nobody around for miles. We all know perfumes do well with body heat so I like to wear something subtle and nuanced when I'm going to be very active that day.. and this was a great choice that day.

All day I was surrounded in the lush mixture of aldehydes and vanilla.. so when I was huffing and puffing along I at least felt a little glamorous ;) Eau Premiere never becomes "too much", it is a polite scent but still very much *there* with a quietly assertive beauty. I find it to evoke vintage feelings of older classics but still has a modern gourmand appeal thanks to the baking vanilla note. Clean and fresh thanks to the aldehydes but with cupcakes baking in the background. It never becomes stuffy or too mature.

Anyway, I am wearing this now and recalling my first day wearing it on that hike and it makes me smile. Wearing a fragrance on a memorable, fun day is a good way to etch it forever into your heart.. this beautiful perfume will probably always be in my wardrobe :)

Just received this one today! Oh god it's so beautiful! I own the original #5 but I love this one too for its different mood it gives me! My husband says it reminds him 19 poudre. I do find the powdery feel present it in the middle after the opening. I would say it is gorgeous and even though it is similar to the original I still happy to have both versions. I just feel really happy wearing eau premiere, I don't know what it is, it's just amazing! My bottle is after the reformulation.

Bright, sparkling, effervescent aldehydes open this up. It's almost like a fizzy lemon cocktail. Dries down into a soapy, clean scent. This is not sexy - it's clean.

At the end of its life it smells faintly like vanilla.

BarefootContessa

Brighter, sheerer, younger version of the classic Chanel No. 5. It's got that No. 5 aura: abstract jasmine, rose and iris, but with added citrus and fizz. Eau Première is the scent of an heiress: pretty and rich with a light touch. Doesn't last long on my skin; it lasts longer sprayed on my clothes. But Chanel does recommend spraying it liberally and I do! My summer perfume- very nice :-)

amberbaby1996

Been testing this out all week and I love love love it! It smells clean, sweet and fresh and a little bit powdery. At first it is very aldehydic (is that the word?) and very strong, but after an hour and half it becomes this amazing warm yet soft beautiful sophisticated vanilla fragrance, it almost smells like you washed your sheets with some expensive luxurious vanilla smelling washing machine soap and then you put them in the drier and when you open the drier you get the mix of fresh hot laundry and yummy vanilla mixed with some light florals.

miafran92

I got a sample of this on a whim over the weekend and I'm glad I did! Chanel No 5 (the original) is one of those perfumes I really *want* to say I love, but as of yet it hasn't appealed to me. This version could be a great gateway for me into that genre.

One of the things I look for in a perfume is the way it makes me feel. And I feel so elegant and sophisticated and lady-like in this! At the same time, it's also breezy, sparkly, fun, and modern . It walks the line between vintage and contemporary so well. It's also a perfume that I don't see myself "growing out of" after a year or so (the trouble with many scents today being a fleeting "like").

justfloral

It's a new incarnation of Chanel No 5 and I love it the same or even more cause it fits with our times. Beautiful, happy, warm, ful of sun, "solar". Like hot bright summer day when you look into the sun and then look away and you can see black blotches in your eyes.
It's uncomplicated: lemon + vanilla + aldehydes (aldehydes = ballpen ink, newly renovated house, green citrus peel).
Chanel No 5 eau Premiere reminds me also fragrance of half unfolded daisy fleabane (sparkling lemon/lime/"sprite" + vanilla).

masako_30

It makes me think of timeless elegance.
Beautiful!

friocomoelhielo

stunning spring & summer scent! I get a creamy sunscreen touch when I wear it on the beach, delightful. Nevertheless, in the office, combined with suits wear, it really matches great.. You feel like being in a cocktail after a successful meeting, wearing chanel nº 5 and drinking champagne! very classy, good performance, medium sillage, +8h longevity..It's a 4x4!!

dnque

Very nice fragrance. Right in the middle between Chanel no 5 edp and Chanel no 5 l'eau. Not sure for what occasion / what time of year I would choose this one. Vanilla (+Ylang-Ylang) is more prominent in Eau Premiere.

Gellert77

I simply love this scent.

I'm familiar with Number 5 EDP, and L'Eau (I have known the pure perfume version as well, but honestly can' t say much about it, because it's been a Very Long Time since I had the pleasure of using it...) and out of the three (Premiere, EDP and L'Eau) I absolutely find the Premiere version the best.

Like many have already said, it's more wearable in the sense "office-friedly", than the EDP. On the other hand, it has better longevity than L'Eau. Of course it is a perfume on it's own, not a "diluted" version of it's predecessors (and L'Eau is certainly different enough to hold it's own place in the Chanel Number 5 family).

I find the initial burst of the scent to be uplifting and clean (due to neroli and aldehydes). I usualy reach for this when I want to feel professional, when I want to be taken seriously, and this is the mood I switch into, from the very first spray. The heart of the scent brings the ylang-ylang and vanilla to the fore and I find these have a calming effect on me, enabling me to focus. The flowers (at least on me) stay in the background. The woods appear in the drydown, so the scent has a proper base, which I take as a sign of quality.

Somehow this scent manages to be both highly personal and work-approriate, allowing both an individual pleasure and a non-intrusive, professional presence.

Love.

eamaccready

Daytime/office/casual No 5! More wearable than the original although I love it too, and have a bottle of both versions.

EclecticV

To me this is the definition of a creamy vanilla, it is so good! I asked for a sample of this and L'eau at sephora a while ago. I sampled Eau premiere everyday before I decided it was definitely full bottle worthy. It is just so elegant and pretty and last all day on me. Now I don't love the opening as it smells exactly like baby wipes and it was why I was considering L'eau over this, but man the dry down is amazing!

p.s. I tested the original No 5 and I just couldnt. It was way to strong and mature for my taste.

When I was young, my father returned from Paris and gifted me a bottle of Chanel No. 5 pure parfum. The dense, rich liquor that lived within those crystal walls was so potent, the bottle saw me safely into my 20's. Now, I live in the Tropics of Australia and find Chanel No. 5 just too rich and heady for our climate. I had resigned myself to only wearing my favourite fragrance on rare occasions, when, to my delight I discovered Eau Premiere.
It's Chanel No. 5 with renewed vivacity! It has the DNA of the original, while introducing a lightness that makes it infinitely more wearable. I adore this fragrance, it's perfect.

savageinstrangeland

This is a fantastic fragrance! Beautiful. It actually reminds me A LOT of my signature Esprit D'Oscar. Especially the vintage in the taller, thinner bottle. The new formulation is lovely also. I hadn't fully made the connection of how similar they really are in the drydown until I was making a purchase of another fragrance at Chanel and a Chanel employee commented that she noticed I was wearing Eau Premeire and it smelled lovely on me. I wasn't. I was wearing EDO. The opening is quite different but the dry down is obviously similar enough that a Chanel employee couldn't differentiate.

Eau Premiere is a distant relative of No 5. It's a rather youthful, creamy, lemony, vanilla/tonka with powdery florals (Again, very much in the same vein as Esprit D'Oscar) Unfortunately the lasting power was pretty disappointing. In approximately 20 minutes it was a skin scent and in two hours, gone altogether. I had heard from people here it was stronger than Chanel No 5 which was DEFINITELY NOT TRUE... at least not true for me. I do plan to test it a few more times this summer to see if a change in weather/climate improves its performance, but for now I'll stick to my EDO when I want something of a similar style to this. And I suggest anyone here whose had trouble with Eau Premeires performance do the same.

Anyone who has struggled to love No 5 should give Eau Premiere a day in court. It's really gorgeous! If it had better performance on me I'd happily make it my signature since despite their strikingly similar dry downs, I actually prefer the opening notes of this one. This would also be a good choice for someone who already loves No 5 but wants a modern & extraordinarily versatile take on it.

KDJ

Just recently I was able to acquire the original slender bottle of Eau Premiere.
I also have the recent formulation shown here as well, in the normal square bottle.
I wanted to do a comparison between both of them!

Similarities include the floral accord and bright opening.

Differences:

The original slender bottle tends to dry down with a more bitter and soapy quality that is really smooth. The opening has a fresh lemony quality to it.

The new version dries down with more vanilla, and is a bit sweeter. The opening has a lemon cake/batter creamy quality to it.

Overall, I'm liking the slender bottle just a little more, as I found the sweetness in the newer version a little too cloying. However, both smell fairly identical and it might not matter to the regular wearer.

As wearing on my skin goes:
I noticed with the original, it does start out softer than the current one, but over time, it intensifies, while the current one slowly fades away.

Also, the original formulation is giving me close resemblance of the dry down of the No. 5 Body Cream with the more pronounced sandalwood. I don't recognize this with the newer version.

Azula

This is utterly beautiful and as a lover of the classic No. 5 EDP, this may be my second favourite iteration. I'd describe it as effervescent sweet champagne, lemon sorbet and ripened ylang petals with traces of vanilla and rose. Invigorating, feminine & elegant— Jacques never disappoints.

janedelamare

how much i like this fragrance. i have a bottle of the chanel 5 extrait, and like the premiere so much better.

i like it so much i have a bottle at work and at home. i teach high school and have been luring my students into trying the classics. if give a back story, talk about famous people like flappers, depression era, world war 2, 1950s, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Katharine Hepburn, or other famous people, and set the history and tone, they don't scream "old lady!" and run away.

they like it! little 18 year olds! "miss, can i have a spray of your chanel number 5?" (i don't tell 'em it's a flanker.)

(aside, they also liked toujours moi, chantilly ("miss, it smells like an expensive leather purse!"), mon guerlain, love's baby soft, and i am going to sneak in some TABU and shalimar.)

missk

I have very fond memories of the original formulation of Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere. I wore it to death during my early twenties and enjoyed it most during the warmer months. I was sad to hear that the original formula and bottle had been discontinued, and had purposely put off trying the newer version in fear of being left disappointed.

Fortunately Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere hasn't suffered from the Chanel brand's reformulation crisis and remains very much the same, with just a few minor tweaks here and there.

As Casi noted in her review, Eau Premiere appears to have less sparkling aldehydes in the opening and as a result smells more dense than the original formulation. The new Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere is still however fresher and lighter than the classic No. 5 Eau de Parfum, and therefore still appropriate for Summer and Spring wear.

Both No. 5 Eau Premiere and No.5 L'Eau go hand in hand with one another. They are so similar that it would be foolish to own both. When comparing the two however, I almost always lean towards Eau Premiere as the longevity is far superior on my skin.

For avid lovers of the original Eau Premiere, have no fear, this current formulation is 99% similar to the scent you may already own and love. I do wish however that they had kept the original packaging as I found the tall, rectangular bottle far more visually appealing.

Sadly, I have never tested the original Chanel No. 5. It has been on my wish list forever. I was so excited when my best friend gave me a sample of Eau Premiere. Now I can finally try something similar to the original. I really like this fragrance. It is a beautiful and soft blend of clean, soapy aldehydes, rich and sweet ylang ylang, and warm and powdery vanilla. I still plan to try the original but I'd be very happy to own this version!

elmizakamarulzaman

I received this as my wedding gift from my husband's aunt. So lovely. Eau Premiere opens with bright, sparkling aldehydes, citrus and powdered ylang ylang. 10 - 15 minutes later the citrus disperses, a soft rose develops and the aldehydes and powder come forward. This softens pretty quickly (around 30-45 minutes) into mostly floral and powder with the once sparkling aldehydes now a shimmer in the background. It has a very floral/soapy feeling, very fresh and clean as if you just stepped out of the shower.

Sillage is moderate at around arms length and lasting power seems moderate at around 4-6 hours.

Overall, this is a beautiful fragrance. At times the aldehydes and powder can be a bit much, but it's still lovely. It has a fresh out of the shower feeling...very floral soap and dressing powder and a little champagne.

wore this to a date and it went great!
sO similar to the classic 5 but so light
easy breezy! it was Winter '17 and this
pretty much disappears but I like it that
way. mY date didn't smell anything haha

Mirabele

i quite like it, but not sure if it is exactly "me". being quite some time into fragrance i start easier to see, when i only like fragrance and can wear it, and when the fragrance i like is "me". i have and like N5 l'eau, which is lovely, but a bit too citrusy/fresh to me. i was hoping that powder and aldehydes in this one would suit me a bit better. well, the are not subsitute fro each other, even that they are quite similar in smell and style. i may decide to keep both anyway. i like that this one is soft and subtle, at the same time with good longevity. it is a beautiful skin scent, suitable for cosy wearings at home, as well as profesional situations. my only complain, i perceive it as a bit too conventional/formal. i like my fragrances to have an element of non conformity/a shade of rebeliousness/ a sligt element of unexpected twist. i will see how often i wear it. maybe i will just keep it for strictly profesional situations.

BlondieCurls

Wouldn't a parfum version of this be exquisite....

amberonic

Some spray from my sample of this got on my watchband and I could smell it day after day. It infected my brain...I had to keep smelling it...I had to get a bottle of it.

Phenomenal performance. Complex development, phenomenal longevity. A single spray under clothes lasts all day and into the night, peeping out every few minutes. Like all no. 5s, it is both sexy and clean. Never animalic or dark like some other versions, this Eau is filled with a kaleidoscope of florals on its way to a soft and satisfying vanilla, which will still be there when you wake up.

Seriously...I spend all this time and money combing through vintage and indie offerings what do I end up with? A flanker of Chanel no. 5.... I love it!

EDIT: I'm over it. I sold it. I prefer my 5 as EDT and my vanilla in my ice cream.

M.Golightly

I soo want to wear Chanel No.5, sadly it does not define who I am and so I sadly accepted that I have to wait until it finds me.....until Chanel no.5 eau Premiere found me.

Young and sophisticated Chanel style!

Madam Coco would highly approve of this! Creative and artistic formulation which still embodies the core Chanel no.5. but fresher and lighter.

ontheriver

I will preface by saying that I have not found a version of Chanel No 5 that I can like. Unfortunately, that remains true with Eau Premiere. This is supposed to be "lighter" than the original No 5 and it definitely is; it's not as heavy but there also feels like less of a nuance to it too. I just get a lot of white floral and powder that didn't appeal to me at all. I had to scrub it off after only half and hour of wear.

LadyIva

This is a beautiful and very wearable version of No. 5. It does resemble the original, but it is softer and more office friendly. My only issue with this version is that it disappears from my skin in just a few hours. If it were a bit cheaper, I'd buy it in no time; but considering the price, I'll stick with the original.

camden-girl

This version (2015) is definitely less crisp,& fizzy sweet than the tall 2011 bottle, it's more buttery instead, and At first I was disappointed, I wanted this new version to be identical to the tall bottle.
However it's growing on me lots And lots !

Don't go by the first few minutes as it's a little bit sharp and chemical , but don't worry as in a few minutes her soft flowers bloom and the light vanilla grounds her beautifully the powder is soft and dreamy.
I think no 5 is wonderful in all the versions I have So far, the eau premiere versions are very pretty fragrances simply adorable, perfect in my case to layer with the original versions but you could wear it alone.

This newer version is slightly longer lasting than the 2011, though still a soft fragrance really , this one as others have said has a bit more dna of the original no 5 compared with the tall 2011 version.

I'd say 2011 and 2015 are slightly different, but not that much , so if you have one you may not need the other , oh heck what am I saying,
Lol , I want every version of no 5 ever made !! And I know You do too :)

mapache

Well...firstly..I can say I really like this scent. I think what "bothered me" in the original Chanel # 5 was the civet note....This one does not have it...thus the "like" for me. I do miss the Iris from the original...sigh..sigh...
I find this very ylang-ylangy and neroli..may be too much ylang...???...This one is fore sure a tamed down version of the original...and I find it sweeter too. This als has great projection (spray sparingly) and sillage is good too. It will never be my "favorite"Chanel...but it is what it is. During the wearing I find the aldrhyde effect is less in this one than the original, which works for me.Also during the drydown the vetiver peeks out slightly with a "green" effect, which is nice. All in all a nice scent...probably too much ylang and neroli for me tho...and not enough rose tones...(???)....and missing the Iris too !!

EDIT: Have been wearing this now for 2 days in a row.....and..wow....I LOVE THIS !!! A new found....LOVE. This one requires patience and discovery on the skin...IMO.
