closing deals, raising ceilings, pencil skirt, pointy heels, on the way to the airport lounge

Unfortunately doesn't work with my skin. Tried it on in stores and the opening was really not great. Drydown was a lot better: dark and rich and delicious, but for some reason I just couldn't stand it the smell on me! Wish it worked for me. Do NOT overspray this.

Hannehoney

I tried Dior Addict about 18 months ago and I didnt like it. Here the other day I wanted to try it again. To me its still a bit weird in the opening, but I realized this is a scent that needs time. Now I actually like it alot :) Its really good.
White floral with a strong green undernote. The vanilla is a powdery, non-gourmand vanilla.
It has a smokiness in the background. I like it more and more as it sits on my skin. It has a strong sillage and it stays on my skin for about 8 hours. Great for nighttime and fall/winter.
So happy I gave it another chance :)

I’ve heard plenty of people bang on about this fragrance, but I’m starting to think they maybe meant the OG 2002 formula and just didn’t specify.

This was promised to be the most spectacular vanilla there is out there but it’s just okay at best. The dry down is just a slightly more feminine version of Tobacco and Tonka Bean by Banana Republic (which is A LOT cheaper might I add).

Disappointing to say the least, but I’ll keep an eye out for the OG to see if it’s any better.

malake

love this perfume especially the opening

AnniePruana

Nice opening, dry down is baby oatmeal maybe, it isn't pleasant.

Dlittlegarden

I sprayed this after work last night to wind down and remembered how much I love it. It's rich, deep, lasting, bittersweet, soft and cozy. Definitely best for cold weather. While I only have the 2014 reformulation, from what I can recall of the original formulation, this is a close enough facsimile. (I do think the original might've been a bit more jasmine forward?)

This is not the type of vanilla scent being churned out per current trends. This is dark, boozy and bitter, and the mandarin leaf and orange blossom in the opening feels like a brisk wind. It feels niche. While this isn't a sugary-sweet contemporary vanilla fragrance, I wouldn't exactly say it feels vintage. But then again, I am struggling to come to terms with the fact that the younger gens consider anything of the Y2K era as vintage, including myself!

Rosiewebber

Warm creamy vanilla, sweet oranges, and VERY indolic white florals, almost too indolic until the dry down (is this just me though?). I never smelt the original formulation so I can’t comment on that. It’s very classy, grown up without being too mature, and that vanilla dry down is gorgeous. For me I wish the opening was less indolic, but lovely otherwise.

msquito

I have been on the quest for the perfect vanilla dry down for years. The one that is warm and cozy, but at the same time is deep and sexy and you just cannot stop taking sniffs of. I have tried so many perfumes, but for all of them I was thinking "nice or beautiful BUT...".

Addict is the one for me. First 30 minutes are pretty strong. After that though, there is no "but". It starts to develop and it just gets better and better with time. The vanilla dry down is just epic and it does not require for hours to appear.

Even 12 hours later you can still smell this awesome luscious vanilla. I adore this perfume. It is literally devine.

vera.macedonskaya

The drydown smells like a cup of hot chocolate. It's a nice smell, but old Addict is much better

Tagimaucia

Sexy vanilla, smells niche

crissy25

This reformulation still smells amazing. I directly compared it to my 2002 version of Addict. They're incredibly similar in scent and performance. The 2002 version may be slightly more floral. Regardless, I adore this fragrance! It's so intoxicating. This is one, I will always have in my collection. She's classy and a seductress. I smell a deep vanilla that's perfectly complimented by white florals. I'm addicted to this scent. Worth every penny.

Longevity: 9/10
Projection: 9/10
Overall Experience: 10/10 Perfect. I would change nothing.

johnatello

Everyone's lying, the reformulation smells so similar. I've been collecting the Addict perfumes so I had the 2002 and 2012 versions before this one. There is such minimal differences, idk why people are more fond of one or the other, they're virtually the same. You can easily get the 1 oz of this for like 50 bucks, it's not worth getting older formulations unless you're a collector.

IAthirah

I don't get the vanilla note here. All I get is a strong floral scent, particularly the overwhelming jasmine scent. I'm into floral scents but find this too strong. The Eau Fraiche flanker is much more pleasant and fresh.

TheCandyperfumegirl

Dior Addict Eau de Parfum 2014 edition is a bold and sexy vanilla & white floral fragrance. Addict is the perfect name for this Perfume. This Perfume starts with some green vibes but it fades very quickly and turns into a heavy White floral with non gourmand-ish Vanilla Fragrance. The orange blossom is pretty noticeable too. The Vanilla in this Perfume is not sweet or Gourmand but it's more bold and kind of spicy. Which makes it stand out from the other popular Vanilla fragrances. I get the smell of spider lily flower (Hymenocallis liriosme) from this Fragrance even though it's not in the official notes but I really can't ignore the resemblance.
◼️ This Perfume is really sexy. And it's kind of matured and elegant. It's not your everyday girly girl kind of Scent. It's only for special occasions. This Perfume will boost your confidence and make you feel like you can rule the world. It's seductive, it's Addictive, it's captivative and it's gorgeous. And it's more suitable for a confident woman.
◼️ It's a winter only Perfume in my opinion. And it's more suitable for night-time. Perfect for date nights and weddings. Not suitable for office or formal meetings because people around you may feel offended as this Fragrance is really in your face kind of potent.
◼️ This can easily be someone's wedding Scent. If you're a floral Perfume lover and your getting married in winter I highly recommend testing this Fragrance. But I won't recommend blind buying this Fragrance as it may be too potent for some people. It's not for the faint of heart. You really need to try this Perfume at least once if you're a floral fragrance lover and you don't like too much sweet fragrances.
◼️ Vanilla being a natural aphrodisiac makes this Perfume a compliment getter. But don't over spray this Perfume because it's really heavy and strong. 1-3 sprays are more than enough to draw attention 😉
◼️ Longevity- 7+ hours on skin and 10+ hours on clothes.
◼️ Projection & Sillage- This Perfume creates an aura around the wearer and you'll get noticed by everyone around you for first 3-4 hours then gradually it will become a close to skin scent. Sillage is heavy, you'll leave a trail of scent with your every movement.
◼️ If you're looking for a bold sexy feminine Fragrance then you'll surely enjoy Dior Addict. It's really addictive and fabulous. Do you want to stand out in the crowd? Get yourself a Dior Addict ❤️

I have a love hate with this perfume. I rarely say this but- it's so strong! I've found out today that if I spray my ankles each once and one spray under my hair it's perfect. Just spraying directly to my shirt or neck is too much. It's creamy and spicy. I definitely like it, I just don't find it to be an easy reach. Much better in the cold weather as well.

JoyDivision

This is the ultimate smokey citrus, vanilla, spicy, evening perfume. I love it on cold winter evenings. There's a masculine note that I can't really put my finger around it. It's a lot more complex than what's mentioned here and yes, as most people said, it's been reformulated a couple of times. I have the silver blue version and I've been happy with it for years now.

Salkavalka

I swear I can smell cinnamon in this, though it's not mentioned in the notes. Citrus-cinnamon-vanilla.

Emang

10 sprays and people can only smell it if they come right up close to me. So pleased I only got a sample 😅

Rating: 🥰😳😮
Do I like it: Yep
Who it is: my SO during s*x on Christmas
Smells I get: lemon, vanilla, jasmine, indoles
Meyer's Briggs type: ESTJ, INTJ

A gourmand animalic perfume.

When I spritzed it at first, my face responded with an instant smile. After all, I smelled like a delightful lemon pie. Happy, I innocently pranzed to the nearby bus stop.
Nothing could prepare me for what came next. I thought I over-applied. I thought I may be nauseous. I felt a slight twinge near my bellybutton. To my horror - it wasn't nausea.
This bloody thing has made my muscles relax and my head fuzzy like I'm in the midst of, well, an act. Indoles probably did me in, but the gourmand aspect makes it a very pleasant perfume.
It smells like candied s*x. 🌺
Anyway... time to call him. 🤙

Elsee

The name says it all! I have both the vintage (2002) and the 2014 versions. They are similar, but the vintage has a bit more oomph. That's about it. Both stunning, addictive, and probably my most complimented fragrance ever.
Truly a Dior masterpiece.

udzyna

The perfect vanilla, the perfect balance of white flowers and vanilla, the masterpiece of perfumery.

Is this still in production? I can't find it in any stores in Canada

addictpiglet

I bought this after trying it in store. Well, not tried, I put a tester strip with this in my jacket’s pocket and hanged that jacked in the hallway. For a week, I could smell this anytime I passed through the hallway. The whole week, from a simple tester strip in a jacket’s pocket. It’s a beast mode fragrance. Now that it’s my signature scent and I’ve gone nose blind to it I sometimes commit the sin of overspraying it, and pay with day long headaches. DON’T. 3 sprays is enough with Dior Addict.

It’s a sexy everyday fragrance. Well maybe most people wouldn’t consider this everyday but I like loud and out there scents. It’s an easy reach for me in my collection. It reminds me of a hot mom, probably because this perfume was very popular when I was a kid.

stella.cherie

Sprayed this on while at Sephora today and wasn't sure if I used a bad tester because all I smelled was citrus rinds. I can detect the slightest hint of orange blossom, but boy is that citrus front and center. Longevity isn't that great either, about 3-4 hours. I was testing this alongside the OG 2002 formulation of Addict, and that is so well-composed compared to this formulation in its depth and layers. Pass.

If anyone in the UK is looking for a dupe of this, Blossom Perfumery do an amazing dupe, Addict is my favourite perfume and I am hard pressed to tell the difference side by side. It is strong and lasts

Creamy_ambrette

Yes, this has been reformulated twice and yes, the 2002 version is a bit more interesting with the blackberry opening and luxurious, mysore sandalwood in its base.
The 2012 version is even great! Lacking the blackberry opening but still keeps its “chai” spiced essence.
So this 2014 version is very different - it keeps the same addict vanilla in the base but it’s minimized, removing all woods and the florals have been amped up.
I perceive a spiced orange leaf opening with big, sexy jasmine and thick, creamy vanilla base- the same sort of dense, creamy vanilla you can find in Guerlian’s Angelique Noire, L’instant, Lancôme Poeme… the 2014 Dior Addict is a green vanilla.
It *is* different but it’s not garbage and anyone who says it last a few hours has a fake or is lying to you.
“It smells awful”
a sewer smells awful, a Taco Bell bath room smells awful- not a lush, velvety, green, vanilla fragrance.
Drama much?
As for performance- I wore this to bed and I smelled it the next day. It last for hours with strong projection for the first 4-6 hours. Last days on clothing.
While I prefer the 2002 version, I do love the 2012 and 2014 versions.

WhitePetals

I never had a bottle of this, but I mourn how they ruined it. I had a friend who wore it in 2012. It was amazing. I decided to test and buy it a year ago and I was surprised that it didn't even smell close to what it was... it smells awful.

Sjess

Already reviewed this but I just have to say it again, I really miss the original… Two sprays would last you a solid 24 hours with a huge projection. This version does not even come close after 4 sprays in the morning and 4 additional sprays in the afternoon.

Mimithenoynoy

I used to have 2002 version of Dior Addict. I really loved the scent then. I recently bought the 2014 version and as soon as I spreyed it at myself, it reminded me the Addict edp that I knew. I really feel happy about that I can still enjoy the newer version. It is still beautiful. However, it seems its smell fades away quicker than the OG version. Therefore, unfortunetly performance of the newer fragrance is lower than the OG.

rene.saller

Today I'm wearing the "wrong" perfume, insofar as it doesn't match my outfit--faded yoga pants and a Grim Reaper long-sleeve t-shirt featuring the logo of a left-wing podcast--and I don't care: I wanted to live inside this scent bubble for a while, and no one but my dog and my husband is likely to notice that my visual and olfactory presentations clash. Specifically, I'm wearing the 2014 reformulation of Dior Addict, obviously still Wasser's creation but inexplicably mystified/simplified by current Dior nose Demachy--and my humble t-shirt will almost certainly reek of Addict for days, perhaps even after I launder it. This juice is TENACIOUS. I think people (including myself) tend to get noseblind to it if they wear it a lot, so I will probably reserve it for occasions when I want to smell like this: as if jasmine and night-blooming cereus copulated strenuously in an industrial jungle bakery with Bourbon vanilla, and then the delicious boozy baby that was born to this unlikely throuple grew up to become an enormous buttercream-frosted, blossom-bedecked godling.

Dior Addict is a little green in the beginning, and because this is the newer (2014) reformulation, I can't be sure there is any night-blooming cereus in it--no way is this fragrance as simple as the streamlined note pyramid suggests--but my vial dealer sold me some of her vintage 2002 Addict (which I trust her to have preserved as perfectly as anyone could preserve it after more than 20 years), and when it arrives I plan to do a smell-test comparison with my tester strips. Right now I think I smell the night-blooming cereus--and I actually have one that blooms prolifically every summer and into the early autumn, so I know the scent very well--but it's possible that I'm smelling another combination of accords and interpreting this as the Queen of the Night. Will I smell it more or less distinctly in the vintage version? Would I pass a blind sniff test? Well, I'll come back and update this post after my precious partial bottle of 2002 Dior Addict arrives and I can conduct my useless experiments. (I do not have and do not plan to obtain the 2012 version.)

Update: Well, the 2002 version is superior, to my nose, primarily because of the sandalwood base and the headier aromatic notes, and, perhaps most of all, the night-blooming cereus. It's deeper (literally a dark amber fluid), and it would stain your clothing if you sprayed it on something that wasn't, say, black or dark brown. The base is woodier and more complex, and it reads as much more masculine than this 2014 formulation. That said, the 2014 is an easier wear. The 2002 version is sexier to me, but let's face it--sometimes you just want to smell nice and comforting, like white flowers blooming in a clean bakery. That's what the 2014 version smells like. I do appreciate its longevity, and the perfumes are remarkably the same on the drydown, which is, after all, the longest part of perfume life. This current version is great, and when I use up what remains of my well-preserved 2002 bottle, I can feel reassured by the knowledge that I have this one, and it's still quite easy to find should I ever run out, which is highly unlikely. I like this a lot, but I don't feel like wearing it more than a time or two every two or three months.

snoopy2

Addict gets so much love but there have been so many versions, I am never sure which version is being discussed.

In the current version (the one you can get at stores in 2023), I get a green vanilla. It’s a bit sharp and at first pass, more of a daytime scent than sultry.

Edit. Second wear - my nose adjusted to the green and it reads spicy vanilla now. Still not sure that it’s sexy but I like it a lot more than the first wear. It’s unique and a good choice for a non gourmand winter scent.

Longevity is good but it fades in and out. When you think it’s gone, it comes back.

All in all, thumbs up.

pursueliving

This is a nice, warm, heavy, spicy and mature, but not vintage perfume. It has memories attached if you're in your 50's or above. Lovely in the wintertime with that warm and spicy note. It's quite long lasting 6-7 hours with a good sillage at first more than 6 feet but settling into around arm's length. It might be the bourbon vanilla with the jasmine sambac but something makes it smell like cinnamon, warm out of the oven. It's substantial, like red wine with steak or a heavily decorated Christmas tree... all wintery events, making this perfume perfect for winter! (Reading by the fire, decorating, watching a movie). It's very sentimental and traditional and will create memories through the years.

Electra89

At first I thought about Addict as a scent of field flowers (mix of poppy, cornflower, …) but then to my mind came fragrance of olibanum burned at churches. It fits the best during colder days because when I sprayed it on me at home it made me very noxious even I like this scent. I don’t feel any of the notes written by creators. Maybe reformulation destroyed real feel of the perfume? For sure it is an art fragrance and it is very “addictive”. Even if you hate it you will still come back to spray yourself in the evening when candles are burning and snow falls outside.

marialena888m

I really like how it smells, but I’ve had 2 different people ask me if I’m wearing a male fragrance. I think this would smell absolutely amazing on a man. A deep, sexy vanilla with a strong powdery tartness. The 2012 version was smoother, less tart and more feminine, I tested that one and loved it…I had no idea the version I bought was 2014.

adyna05_sv

“And I will always love you” 😄👌🏼❤️❤️

beatrix75

Very gorgeous beautiful creamy Bourbon Vanille 😋, long-lasting great silage perfect for any occasion

A_Ferrera

Petitgrain in here is too dominant, I don't understand these "spicy","Christmas vibes" that others are on about, I get nothing but a powdery and overly green petitgrain...disappointing.

blkleather_redlace

All I could smell on the strip was a very animalic jasmine. That's not a bad note, but I expected more. It didn't smell sweet or vanillary at all, and strength was lacking. I'm wondering if something was wrong with the tester.

kittenpawz

Sorry not sorry, it reeks. It's an animalic fragrance, orange blossom and jasmine sambac make it smell like a very distinctive body odor, and not necessarily a woman's. Normal jasmine doesn't have that quality to it but this variant does and it's ruined a great many fragrances. Citrus adds an acidic quality to it all, making it smell rancid to put it simply. Probably wouldn't mind it on others but it's a scrubber for me.

WifeyPink

On first spray my nose gets lemon vanilla and something masculine? A waxy lemon. Reminds me of Manifesto, I get Lemon in that as well. Yeah my nose is just getting a masculine Manifesto. This is my first time trying Addict. Might be one of those perfumes I need to keep trying b4 I fall in love but as of now, my nose doesn't understand why so many like this edp.

Leather&pearls

This scent will always remind me of winter time holidays. A powdery cinnamon vanilla with a hint of berry. I see a sophisticated women spending the holidays at a cozy festive function with an intimate circle of people. Perfect for those types of occasions.

CathyNoo

This perfume is a masterpiece!
I blind bought this couple of months ago and straight away fell in love! What a gorgeous scent 😍 It's very creamy, bit green, spicy vanilla. Perfect for autumn/winter season. Sensual, opulent, addictive.
This is true timless beauty 👌🔝

Lauren387

Just decluttered this reformulation and repurchased the original. This particular one is flatter and more powdery in comparison. The original has a hint of tartness from the blackberry that compliments the green note and makes it feel more lush, sensual, and feminine. I miss that feeling in this particular formula. Though this particular version is not bad at all, compared to the OG formula this is Addict unfinished to me.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

Oh I really love this! I'd say that it's a vanillic white floral with a hint of green and citrus in it. I can smell the orange blossom and the jasmine the most, followed by the vanilla and then the mandarin leaf. It's such a simple fragrance, but it works really well for me.

Dior Addict has a real yummy vanilla ice cream sweetness to me and it smells like a white floral vanilla ice cream. It's very youthful and feminine too. This is a floral gourmand I could actually get behind! It's not saccharine sweet in the slightest. I feel like women of all ages would love this perfume.

I could imagine it being something one could wear during the day or at night and in both fall and winter. It's not too strong to me and I think you could wear it to work too with a light hand. It had moderate sillage on me and this perfume lasted for a whole 8 hours on me!

That's why I'd reward this perfume an 8.5/10 for me. Dior Addict is for sure full bottle worthy!

GastonThem

This is my current obsession. The vainilla's note its creamy and dark and really present.

Smeraldina77

I had the 2002 or 2012 version and I remember it was more complex and intense and maybe a little bit more challenging than this current version.
I recently tried it in store and I am not sure whether I like this one... it reminds me of a vanilla rice pudding with some candied orange peel, which is definitely nice, but it also has a plasticky note I do not like very much...

Cherubina

Addicted to this fragrance.

Lauren387

I can appreciate the complexity in this, but I don’t love it (or even like it) on me. In my mid-thirties, I find this too mature and even a little masculine. The powdery and spicy notes give a dusty dirty vanilla smell. I don’t find it sexy. And I want my perfume to smell sexy!!!

I’ll possibly revisit this in winter, and if I don’t enjoy it more, I will declutter or gift to my mom or boyfriend.

Update: I spent the day at home and decided to give this a second chance. I find it a lot more likeable today. What I did differently was spray from a distance in a half pump quantity. Wow! What a difference it makes. The fragrance is dense and I imagine the molecules aggressively fighting when sprayed too closely on my skin the first time. The molecules need space to breathe because it is dense.

Vexel

The opening of this gives a lot of tones going in different directions. In fact the mix of heavy powdery musk, citrus tones, florals, spicy tones and bitter green tinges is one I've personally experienced in one, maybe, two perfumes, and that would primarily be Obsession and it's cousin the original Moschino to a lesser degree. Which is WILD; never would I ever have dreampt I'd get echoes of those before trying it out.

This is "perfumey" perfume. The sheer concentration of powdery white musk is almost an assault on the senses, and there's a long lasting spiciness that lasts into the drydown that isn't explained in the note breakdown, not even by the tonka supposedly in the older formulations. I see now why there are some references to cinnamon in other reviews. Longevity is passable and it lingers a long time as a spicy-powdery skin scent. I do like this despite my tone but I can't love it. It's a little sweet to start but a confident guy could get away with wearing this in the modern era if sweeter or more floral scents fit your image.. Dry down on me is abstractly like Obsession and Fleur Du Male had a baby.

Reads mature on a woman, I think. The fellows may have a little more leeway in that department.

Rama Rama

My second review, I don't what is in the dry down reminding me of Anais Anais, I am not say the two are similar of course not. But there's something in the dry down makes me think of Anais Anais every time I smell the drydown; some thing green and powdery in the base gives me the same vibe I get from AA

toosimilar

Not the same as original: no depth, no sillage, not sexy, not remarkable
Flat version of the original, fades away quickly, has some hints of cinnamon
But still a nice non-offensive scent, probably, ideal for the young ladies :)

brightsun2205

Here goes an intoxicating Autumn/Winter date night scent.

The prominent notes of vanilla and white florals are well-blended. You can't go wrong with it.

HannahRosesAreRed

Much like the similarly intoxicating Poison range, Dior Addict is aptly named. It's subtle, quiet, unintrusive–but potent. It's a slow-burner–one sniff, you're intrigued. Then you take another. And then another. And lo and behold, you are addicted.

This is the ultimate "your skin but better" scent. It's intimate, romantic, classy, and quite mature. Addict is a sweet but not cloying bourbon vanilla, with a soft and powdery cosmetic note. It's sneakily sensuous. It's pretty similar to the white floral-forward Pure Poison, a similarly subtle and powerful toxin of a perfume. It shares the jasmine and orange blossom notes, but these are support players to the gentle yet powerful vanilla. The mandarin leaf adds just a touch of citrus sweetness and earthy greenness, bringing this ethereal perfume a little closer to earth.

Since it's such an intimate and pleasant scent, I think you can spray this liberally–but be warned. Dior Addict is addictive. You might fall under the same spell this fragrance casts on the people around you, like a femme fatale falling for her own lies and charms. This would be heavenly for cool evenings and cozy winters.

First I apologize for my bad English, please excuse my language. But I wanted to review this perfume in hope to be helpful to whoever is wondering about this scent.
IT'S BEAUTIFUL but it's different than nowadays perfumes; those bubblegummy perfumes everywhere
. Don't get me wrong I love sweet gourmandy perfumes, not only I love them but I am a gourmandy perfume girl, my signature is YSL black opuim, my every day perfume Fantasy Britney spears, my going out for a date is JPG la Belle and Scandal. I love those and this is my style. I mentioned what kind of perfumes I love so you can know my taste. But what I smelled in Dior Addict is different, taked me to a whole different level, new level in perfumes I have never explored before , It's CLASSY, VERY VERY CLASSY. Also greeny and I find it very greeny to my taste ,( I know greeny must be a horrifying word for the people who love extremely sweet perfumes like me), but please don't panic , greeny not in a bad, not bad at all just different. That greenness makes it classy and classic. Green vanilla in two words to describe it. In order to understand this perfume better ; it reminds me of the models used to appear at the covers of fashion magazines in the 90s, natural hair, natural eyebrows, red very red lipstick, black simple chic bodycon dress wandering in Paris in the afternoon having coffee in one of Paris café and of course very very rich. That what's I imagine when I smell this. So Romantic also.
Greeny vanilla, delicious but not a sugar bomb just something elegant. It can give a vibe of an old scent. But that what it makes classy and elegant, common nowadays perfumes are really lacking of elegancy, what I mean by old vibes that it's classic and classy but not outdated, also I can't imagine a teenager wear it (they are free to wear it of course) but I find it for 30+ for my POV but also I can imagine sexy 20s girl wearing this. No rule it's a personal preference. All in all I respect this perfume, the scent itself makes me respect

saho93

I have the 2002 gold cap version. While the opening is different because the OG has a sour berry note that goes away quickly, this one does not have that note but aside from that I find the 2002 and 2014 to be similar.

In any case, I like this a lot. I think it’s unique, very well crafted and complex.

I like the bourbon vanilla note in this.

Melody Valentine

Just left a review on the og that I didn't own but I did try and it was gorgeous. I said I don't pick up any blackberry in the current one so I was gonna check to see if it's been taken out and it has. I still love this version though and it's been so long since I tried the og that I can't really tell the difference but I'm sure I would side by side. This is a powdery yet "fizzy", jasmine, vanilla and slightly orangey, slightly spicy, slightly sweet but not gourmand, soapy, just beautiful perfume. One of my all time favourite perfumes. Dior got the balance of everything just right. The florals stop it from going into gourmand, the vanilla stops it from being too floral and it's very strong. Very classy too. The first time I smelled Armani Code it reminded me of this but Code is a lot more fruity. There's just something about it that reminded me of Addict. The Jasmine reminds me of the jasmine in Alien but they're very different scents overall. There's something that reminds me very slightly of the vanilla dry down of Hypnotic Poison aswell but this doesn't have the almond and has way more florals.

I've never noticed this before but the dry down of Organza reminds me of Addict. Once the bubblegummy tuberose fully gives way to the vanilla and spices I can definitely smell a similarity. There should be way more notes listed here than there is too.

Laralaritaaa

Spicy vanilla and orange cream. Lactonic, sultry and expensive. I really like the smell but I don't like to wear it as a perfume. This would smell amazing in a candle format. I would love it as a room spray aswell.
Very cozy, winter fragrance 100%.

qwerty988

My dear old friend, how I love this scent!

For 10 years, before I was really into perfume, the original Addict was the only perfume I owned and I'm embarrassed to say it took me that long to finish the bottle! Now I have so many scents, but had to have a bottle of this in my collection.

It's not the exact same as the ancient juice, but it's close enough -- and honestly, the old stuff lasted 12 hours or more from just one spray and was insanely strong. It was a different time (people smoked, etc) and I'm very happy with this formulation.

Vermeer

Vanilla and cinnamon, hint of white flowers. Strong presence. Lactonic and sweet, smells expensive. Beautiful, classy bottle.
After a few hours it reminded me of playdoh - so I will pass on this one. I wanted to love it so I will perhaps retest in the future.

J350

29M here working in a senior leadership and management role. I absolutely adore this scent. This could easily pass as a unisex scent. Too much spray however will be too overpowering and nauseating. The village and longevity is outstanding for its price. The dry down does smell quite masculine

Icarel

To me Dior Addict is lactonic, a composition mainly made of vanilla and orange blossom with a drop of jasmine. It is delicate, powdery and incredibly soft but the longevity is BEAST MODE. In general my skin is compatible with most of Dior perfumes, it absorbs and enhances them really well, but THIS ONE shines on its own and remain on my skin despite showering, applying body lotion and another perfume. I need to a good scrub each time to get rid of it haha It is even worst on clothes. Gentle and effortless, its here but not too much, and will create the same aura for the wearer. It’s well blended, I like it and recommend it for any vanilla and/or white flowers lovers. Extremely versatile and really for all year round, this could work really well for the office, for a formal diner, at a wedding or just for casual events. I don't wear it often as I prefer and have slightly stronger perfumes, but from time to time why not; in particular when I want to smell good, but soft, without doing too much. I see it mostly on a person who is discreet, even shy but hides a rich personality because its the spirit of this perfume: gentle but strong, very strong. The bottle is pretty, discrete and effortlessly classy so same vibes as the scent however I dont think the name really describe the actual scent. It’s not addictive, its rather safe and soft.

PS: @Juliusq75, I dont think its discontinued as it is still available on the French Dior website and also on most of the retailers websites in Central Europe and in stores.
PS 2: I own the silver cap bottle; so the 2014 version.

Frenchghost

Had to sell my FB,this didn't project in anyway very light skin scent,on my skin chemistry it smells like tapioca vanilla rice pudding, with a unique floral in it,just not my style, not the best blind buy, skin sent, lasts longer on clothing, classy&sleek bottle tho°••☆•°•° the notes are well blended, smooth&classy rich&strange weird to me also. Think this is a well made, just not for me. 💔

AleshaA

Bought this 2023 batch because I had to try this version of addict and OMG what have they done to this perfume I have 3 older bottles and I’m not comparing
it’s ok for everyone to rave about this but honestly I can’t even smell it it’s not even close to what it supposedly was
Vanilla stays on clothes a bit longer very light but does have the dna of the original
I must say expensive for what it is now

brandybasisty

@2whit2quit- the design of your bottle should tell you- if the top is gold with an imbedded sprayer that you twist to open, it was made before the 2014 formulation. The 2014 version has a silver top that you pull off to access the sprayer. Hope this helps :)

2whit2quit

Can someone please assist me? If I have a bottle (purchased secondhand) with batch code 7V01 and says it was produced 08/2017. Does that mean it’s the 2014 version? And is the 2014 version the most recent iteration? Thank you in advance for any help!
P.s.the juice is red.

Juliusq75

Has Addict been discontinued!?? Grrrr!!! Addict is not on the Dior site, just Addict Fraiche which I have no interest in.

I am enjoying Dior Addict. It is definitely great for warming up a cold and rainy night, and all through winter. What I enjoy most about Addict is that it is a warm vanilla with a twist, there is a complexity to it that is often lost with the warm amber/vanilla combinations that are so common. It has a bit of spice and a bit of something that I can’t quite pinpoint, but I enjoy it. It isn’t my favorite vanilla, but it’s certainly worth having and not discontinuing (Looking at you Dior!). I am still angry about Miss Dior Cherie being discontinued, and now this? Just stop, everything doesn’t need to be reinvented every two months. It would be nice to know a scent is going to be there for a second buy.

Anamandy

Creamy_ambrette - The juice in my 2014 bottle purchased from Macy's in 2018 is clear too. Still is. Normal. I don't think the vanilla darkens in this version as it did in the original.

Creamy_ambrette

Hello friends!! I just ordered a new 3.4 oz of the 2014 formula from Amazon. It smells lovely and very similar to the 2002 formula I have (which I prefer, it has more spice, depth and uniqueness) the question I have is, my bottle of is from 2019 and the juice is clear. It has very good projection and longevity. The clear juice is throwing me off. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Iris_Alice

I only get milk&rice smell. No flowers, no green notes , just vanilla and cinnamon.

smellslikecoffee

Addiction is my favorite perfume during the colder months. I love the green spicy 'wake-up' call. The drydown is great!! On my skin the green smell of mandarine leaves carried by rich floral and vanilla lasts forever. Different and unique, but for me personally very pleasant!

harperpeshhe

This is a heavy hitter. Vanilla, orange blossom and jasmine that is slightly green. I wish I enjoyed this more but it’s a little too stuffy for my liking.

Yasmeena0

You need to try this perfume before buying, very mature and doesn’t last like before 😐
Such a heavy vanilla scent, i feel that women in 30 years old or more will like it

Violinist

Not for me … I don’t doubt the positive reviews here, but I don’t pick up on anything sharp whatsoever. I wish I had. It would have made it infinitely better … for me, this scent is heavy, deep-throated with a nod to a gas station bathroom. I’m positive this is just my skin not agreeing with the scent, but it’s fascinating how the high hopes I had based on the high reviews all hinges on body chemistry. What can smell smooth, alluring and sophisticated on some people, smells like a retirement home on me. I definitely got the vanilla note, and that was pleasant! Probably best not to blind buy—but if it smells this way on me, I would have to assume it smells fantastic on others!

Nadia Musa

This is imho the best in Dior women’s lineup. The sharp green almost herbal mandarin leaf, the white floral and the non gourmand vanilla lend this a lot of charecter and uniqueness. You will be able to pick it out of all other mass market pleasing designer offerings kind of unique.(My review is for 2014 re formulation)

clm

This is a like not a love for me. Unfortunately, I’m not picking up any vanilla whatsoever and compared to other reviews, I’m wondering if my nose is broken. To me, this is a heavy floral fragrance and I love florals (especially white florals) but it isn’t what I expected. I’m picking up on the orange blossom and the jasmine. I will spray this a few more times, let it sit for a few weeks, allow the vanilla to mature and then try it again. Hopefully, I will pick up more vanilla.

Dior Addict edp:

Addict By Name, Addict By Nature - Dior At It's ALL Time "BEST"!!

One Word Of Advice "DO NOT BLIND BUY THIS FRAGRANCE WITHOUT TRYING IT/GIVING IT A GOOD TEST RUN ON YOUR SKIN FIRSTLY"!!

I Really Like This One,
This Is The Perfect Fragrance For: Autumn/Winter, Early Cold Springtime
Cold Autumn/Winter Day's/Nights, Date Nights etc, As It Has A Sexy Spiciness Edge To It, That Deffo Does Turn Heads etc!! It Also Leans Quite Masculine In It's Dry Down And Indeed Is Very Similar In Smell To The Very Sadly Discontinued "Nu" By YSL , (Check This One Out If Nu Was One Of Your Discontinued Favourites) So This Deffo Could Be Enjoyed And Worn With Ease By A Certain Kind Of Bloke!! This Generally Speaking Is A Dark Rich, Lush Green, Vanilla Type Scent, Which Is FULL To The Brim With Orange Blossom, Green Mandarin Leaves, White Florals (Jasmine Sambac ) , And The Best Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla!! Truly One Of The BEST Well Done Vanilla Fragrances Out There , In My Honest Opinion!! But You MUST NOT BLIND BUY This Fragrance Without Trying It Out Firstly!! , As Orange Blossom And Mandarin Leaves Can Smell Very Bitter And Sharp On Certain Skin Types, So Always Be Aware Of That!! However , This Fragrance Does Ooze Pure Class , And Rich Money!! Old School Money , Not New Money That Is!! And You Honestly Expect Nothing Less Coming From The Design House Of Christian Dior/Dior As It's Known Today!! The Silage Skinwise Is Very Good Also At Around 12+ Hours!! And A Nice Addition To Add To Your Cold Weather Fragrance Wardrobe!!

Hannehoney

Very green vanilla scent...this made me extremely nauseous. This is a NO from me:(
Dior Addict didnt make me addicted :)

Uka

I sampled this, and I'm glad I didn't blind-bought it. It's a fantastic scent. For me, it's an everyday winter perfume. However, it's way too overpriced. Many pleasant vanilla scents last longer for a better price. I won't spend my money on this (but definitely, I wouldn't be mad if I got it as a gift 😏)

coffeebean83

Okay, I've had this for a while and still love it. Can be a little challenging to find occasions to wear... It's boozy. It's amber vanilla and green(the mandarin leaf isn't shy here imo). It's a strong fragrance that will leave an impression and not for people who want subtle. To me it comes across high class and like money.....and not just any money....old money. Old school and classic without being dated. Great date night scent because it's got a sexy side. At the same time it has a tiny masculine lean also so could possible work as unisex fragrance for a certain type of guy. Lasting power and projection is great(8-12hrs). Would repurchase if possible and/or I ever run out(but considering how potent and rarely I wear isn't going to be anytime soon).

lukris

My new addiction. Enough said. Sweet, floral jasmine vanilla. Lasting power on my skin is amazing, on clothes even more. I am in my 40ties and I really appreciate this scent for colder months. This perfume is something you wear when you want to be that woman, who is warm, mysterious, feminine and a little bit sexy.

patimbam

This version is not my cup of tea. Vanilla here is served in a very "green" way but without the fresh side of green. Dusty, greeny vanilla. Does it make any sense? I don't know, but this is not an easy scent.

Ofw

There is something about this 2014 reformulation that really bothers me when I wear it … :(

AleshaA

The 2012 version is right in the middle of the 2002 and 2014 versions it sort of has a mixture of them both and it’s probably the best one out of the lot
If you can get hold of this definitely try it
It’s just marvellous ;)))

mandyads

Ordered what I thought would be the 2012 formulation, but it was just an outdated picture and I received this 2014 formulation instead. I have a bottle from 2002 and I think my favorite is the 2012, but I haven't been able to compare them side by side on my skin. Since I have the 2014, I'm just going to compare it to the 2002 instead.

Opening: The 2002 is chemical for a couple of minutes, as alcohol tends to be quite prominent in aged fragrances. The 2014 has an immediate bite to it that makes me think it’s about to be a spicy powerhouse, but I’m suddenly surrounded by white florals instead.

Top: 2002 is swarming in deep vanilla and there is a damp, moss-like texture that I can almost smell. It’s dark, but inviting. It feels like you’re flirting between danger and your comfort zone. There is a sharp assertiveness to this fragrance and the texture is quite attention-grabbing. Compared to the 2002, the 2014 feels more rounded and subtle to my nose. 2014 feels much more delicate than its predecessors, which makes it a bit more youthful and less of a “boss woman” fragrance it’s been known for in previous years.

Heart: The 2002 retains that sharpness and rich earthiness to it. The spices are strong, but the vanilla still clearly holds its own. As the 2014 really dries down, the white florals settle and the vanilla-seeped spices begin to peak out just a bit. The vanilla and spices here are much more in the background, as the florals keep this smelling light and airy (compared to its originator).

Base: Near the end, the 2002 version hold strong to its heart and not much has changed (I would say it's quite stable from that point on). The 2014, however, has equal parts white floral/vanilla (that is not rich or full of depth)/sandalwood spice; it feels much more watered down. I'm actually quite surprised at the differences here and didn't expect it (I just did a vintage vs modern Dior Hypnotic Poison review and found their strength and performance quite comparable).

The 2002 feels like an EDP compared to the EDT feeling you get from the 2014. That doesn’t mean 2002 is automatically the way to go though. The 2002 is MUCH more unique and has quite a bite to it that I didn’t pick up until comparing it to the 2014 - just like I would have never realized how soft the 2014 was until comparing it to the 2002. Personally, I think the 2002 version is much more of an acquired taste that not everyone will enjoy. I can imagine that sharpness becoming a bit headache-inducing if you spray over time, but it makes the sillage that much stronger. The sillage in the 2002 doesn’t feel as sharp as when you put your nose to the skin. On the other hand, the 2014 version completely loses the Dior Addict essence in the sillage, as it smells completely washed out. The 2014 maintains it's title when you press the nose to the skin, but you are mostly left with white florals in the sillage. In terms of longevity, 2002 takes the cake. White florals will simply not outlast rich vanilla on the skin, I honestly believe that most people, like myself, will appreciate the 2012 version. It was smoother than the 2002, but much more vanilla and spicy sandalwood than the 2014. The 2012 takes the best from both of these - rich vanilla, creamy spiciness, powerful strength + sillage without the bitterness... Hopefully, I'll be able to get my hands on the 2012 bottle soon and compare it side by side to the 2002.

ICURN-do perfumes

Very intense jasmine and vanilla perfume. Anyone interested I got 1.7ml bottle to sell!

Lost~In~Scent

I ordered from Dior a few weeks ago, so it's whatever version they are selling now is what I have. On me it a beautiful floral vanilla that's so thick two sprays is all I need. I only wear this at night, a going out perfume bc it's very femme, very sultry and sexy.

Ambroxer

With a spicy, sizzling start, Dior Addict is a hit of delightful smack. It hits the nostrils and the brain with a dizzying effect. What feels like ginger and pepper dance over a bed of white flowers and create a weakness in the knees in the best possible way. Addict is oriental and amber-y, and promises a daring, perhaps even dangerous trip.

For better or worse, this initial sensation is short lived as the spicy elements fade away while jasmine and orange blossom come into full bloom. There is a moment where orange blossom feels like the centerpiece and gives the fragrance a certain innocent, girl next door charm. It’s an extreme step away from the initial impression, yet every bit as inviting even if lacking the same edge.

Again, only a moment in time. The real heart of Addict is a fragrance that elicits desire to cuddle and begin hanky panky in equal measure. Jasmine and vanilla are paired here in a way that is both elegant and sultry. Addict is very much a lady with a poised posture and a ravenous heart. Intoxicating.

Flowers bloom here

I got a sample from micro perfumes and thought it was a pleasant rich floral that dried to a faint vanilla musk with medium performance... I watched for a used bottle on ebay then splurged on a 90% full bottle with silver trim and top knot.... I'm not sure what year the used addict was from but it is completely different than the sample from 2022... this stuff is VERYstrong and almost choked me out lol! Thick, powdery, spicy, woody vanilla. I was not prepared for the power of one small spray, it's still there hours later. I'm not even sure what to think yet, lol. I will give updates whenever I get the courage to try again.

CelinaPerfuma

A divinely sultry vanilla perfume that vibrates with citrus and florals. It's a fragrance that reaches out to caress the cheek of your lover, whispering 'come here' in voice bewitching with dark promises.

NDL

I have to agree with review below. I don’t get beast mode out of this at all. I get more projection/longevity from the new hypnotic poison EDT than I do from this. This is a very nice fragrance nonetheless but definitely not “beast mode”

After some more wearing, I’ve found that this is reminiscent to my beloved L de Lolita Lempicka. It shares similarities in the citrus and boozy/spicy vanilla.

JamieSmells

I don't get a beast mode out of this fragrance. This was the sole reason after the reviews, as to why I bought it. Its beautiful, I get sweetness, and a slight citrusy vibe. I use it along with the oil from Oil Perfumery too enhance the scent, but I yet to receive a compliment. I'm an over sprayer and take the proper steps to make a fragrance last FYI. This might have to do with the reformulation, its not as strong as other claim the older batches were. I like it but not enough to buy another bottle because its expensive.

HappyGoLuckyStar

A „3B” from me:
Beautiful ❤️ Bewitching ❤️ Brutal (staying power & silage) ❤️
Love it. Cannot wear it. The masterpiece. The midnight creature.
Please wear it if you dare to embody entire 3B package.
I would gladly admire you and the scent from the distance 😉😘

Xantippa

Uplifting and happy scent. I just love the opening of fresh orange blossom! Getting addicted to the gorgeus jasmin and long lastning vanilla. Bought this for nights Out but craving it at home as it gets chilly now in autumn.

suzanne_ronald

This one was love at first scent! Sweet bourbon vanilla with hints of cinnamon and tobacco leaf, undercut by fresh green notes of mandarin leaf and orange blossom, Dior Addict 2014 will make you addicted! Imagine, fresh out of the oven, a pumpkin-pie square on a bed of shortbread topped with coconut, brown-sugar and pecans and garnished with a tiger-lily and orange blossoms off to one side.

Comparison to Dior Addict 2002:
The first iteration of this fragrance was fantastic with its cinnamon vanilla notes from night-blooming cereus signed by perfumer Thierry Wasser. This one was a game changer, and fit the bill for a dumb reach during the colder months. Where the 2002 version risked feeling one-dimensional, the 2014 version released from Demachy's Dior, however is better IMO. Still recognizable, it has additional green citrus-y freshness underneath from the mandarin leaf and orange blossom, making it more versatile and wearable during warmer months and adding interest, proving that not all re-formulations are bad.

Comparison to Obsession CK:
I feel these two are in the same vibe, however, Dior Addict 2014 has a more refined spiciness, like pumpkin pie spice folding into whipped cream compare to the grittiness of cinnamon sticks. Also there is the fresh greenness described above. If Obsession is Tarzan and Jane with sticky fingers from eating oranges, Dior Addict is Fred & Ginger complete with freshly washed hair and tiger-lily corsages

Bottom line: I will always want this one in my collection!

Update 10/23/23:
After this has aged in the bottle awhile, it's a lot more like the 2002 version, and matches the 2002 version perfume pyramid. Underneath the fresh & cinnamon-vanilla notes I get glimpses of Dior DNA & Hypnotic Poison, with sandalwood-y and near marzipan touches in the base. Batch code 0E01 - (2020-05).

l_02mx

Just short of a year ago I blind bought this scent and it really disagreed with me, I was new to the fragrance world and had an underdeveloped nose I would say but since then I’ve tried and learnt so many new notes I am happy to say I love this fragrance!

This is eye-rolling, intoxicating and a powerhouse! The notes are so simple yet the execution of them is so unique. There’s a warm, spicy, undertone throughout this scent coming from the bourbon vanilla (I also detect some cinnamon). It’s sweet, romantic, smooth, dreamy, definitely not for vanilla haters. This is one of THE vanilla perfumes, it’s classy and elegant. The jasmine and mandarin leaf in this gives it a ‘green’ edge to it, this scent isn’t indolic or animalic at all, quite the opposite. It’s linear, but in the most sophisticated way, it’s a rich vanilla - not in a gourmand way. This is a cold winter only scent for me, this would strangle you in heat. Quite literally lasts a lifetime on clothes, 12+ on skin - please do not over spray, 2 maximum. Not for the faint of heart, this is a scent for a true lady. Bonus points for the beautiful bottle.

FYI - my bottle was produced in June 2021 and I believe this scent needed to mature and settle for it to fully blossom.

Lindsconn

This fragrance is an absolute beast! It projects from across the room and lasts all day. It is a very strong bourbon vanilla, I almost smell a gingerbread smell which makes it perfect for Christmas.

The downside to it being a very in your face fragrance is if you’re sensitive to it’s sweetness it becomes incredibly cloying and sickly. I would definitely recommend testing this beforehand, but the good news is that if you enjoy it then it’s a good performing perfume to have in your collection.

Laurus

A very warm spicy vanillaey fragrance with strange rubbery undertone. I can not stand it. I need some freshness on my fragrance.

mika71

I've admired this on other people but it just doesn't work with my skin unfortunately. I get very little vanilla but a LOT of rubbery, dirty orange blossom and jasmine. Like I spent 3 days at a crowded sweaty club with no air conditioning and need a good shower.

correspondencepersonal

A lot of perfume enthusiasts love this perfume.
I've had several people recommend sampling it.

You never really realize how conservative you are till you try something bordering on too extreme.
This is too TOO for me. Over the Top.
This has an EXTREME type edge to it, the notes don't agree with my chemistry all that well throughout the entire wear of the perfume.

I still love a lot of my 1980's perfumes, but I have always liked the perfumes that are not super strong, over the top. This is super strong, along the lines of Obsession for women by Calvin Klein (which I find too strong to wear, also). After gradually moving into the more natural perfume range - (like Calvin Klein's Beauty) -- a perfume like Dior's Addict is way too strong and feels a bit forced and too ridiculously Type A.

If you really like this type of strong perfume, I would try Armani Code - and its flankers. Armani Code is still a strong perfume, but it comes across much less extreme - an easier reach and more versatile. However, there is something about Dior's Addict perfume that reminds me of the Armani Code line of perfumes.

Armani Code's perfumes come across "Focused" but not completely Over the Top, Out of Control - ADDICTED! Even the name implies something with this particular perfume... it is so extreme that it is labeled "Addict".

---------

If you wear Dior Addict well, and really love it -- this performs well, this stays on FOREVER. I sprayed it while at Sephora, it has lasted over 12 hours now. It certainly has longevity down! It is definitely "fixated"!

Penhaligoons

Still not too sure about this! It is very jasmine heavy and sometimes cloying, and I'd really love to smell the vanilla laced in there as well but no such luck so far.
It's a little surprising since the Addict reformulation has been one of the only positively reviewed ones out of all the classics, so I was very excited to try and own this
Maybe layering this with another vanilla scent might bring out the rich aroma everyone else gets. In the meantime, unfortunately it's only a like.

MCW7

Not sure how I feel about it yet . I thought it would be a bit stronger . but I have probably the 2019 reformulation.. i’m going to try it for a week and then post an update . right now although I like some of the notes. just not really moved..

okamikiera

This opening is divine-- a rush of narcotic jasmine, citrus and some amber spices. Dries down to a powdery, vinyl and slightly funky aromatic jasmine. There’s a soft light vanilla with almost a myrrh-like quality to it. I have smelled this in ambers that have geranium, and unfortunately it makes me nauseous. The impression is wavering constantly-- is it a sparkling sweet floral, or rubbery chemical stench? I’m afraid the greenness (or… something) ruins it for me, and this doesn’t live up to expectations. I have some of the Dior Addict lipsticks in tubes that look exactly like the perfume, and they smell amazing, so I was hoping it would be more like those. Perhaps I will have better luck with the flankers.

Lykopa

It’s a slightly dark fragrance, with a spiciness to it. It reminds me of an expensive bath spray. It’s definitely a mature scent, with the white florals being the most prominent.

Roos88dutch

Love it so much it’s so comforting noting similar in my collection. It’s really soft but dark at the same time .

ReneeJoubert

This fragrance is very green. I don't get manderin from the manderin leaf, I get green. Interesting and out there, but it does remind me of a junkie. Not for the faint of heart.

VivianaGomez13

Sweet and spicy. My aunt has been wearing this perfume for years and whenever she applies it, her whole house smells like it throughout the day, so it has a great and long-lasting performance.
I was surprised that there were no spices in this, because for me, it smells like cloves and perhaps even a little bit of cinnamon.
Overall, I think it is a really elegant, aromatic and long-lasting fragrance

Mohd93

A very beautiful Vanilla with subtle white flowers and green notes.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but the Vanilla in Addict reminds me of the Vanilla in Must de Cartier! Which I love. Both scents are different overall, but have a similar Vanilla notes.

It opens slightly sharp and green but the dry-down is beautiful. I would even describe it as "delicious" even though it's not a sweet/foody scent. It's almost as if someone took an 80s/90s fragrance and decided to make it more wearable today.

It lasted 9+ hours on me. Sillage was pretty strong in the first couple of hours but slowly mellowed down and dried down beautifully.

Along with Poison Girl EDP, this is my favorite Dior fragrance ever. Scent and performance are 10/10.

autumnrequiem

I find this very similar to Tom Ford Black Orchid, but… better? I know BO is much more complex but somehow Demachy achieved a similar result with way less ingredients. At least that’s how I perceive it.

Orange blossom and vanilla are two of my favorite combinations ever. This EDP is a winner.

Scooty77

Imagine you are laying in bed with your loved one after a long session of ….parcheesi. The air is thick with lots of scents and it’s hot. You have the windows open to let a breeze in-the humidity is really something tonight. You smell a little like his aftershave mixed with sweat. You sit up in the bed, and sip a bourbon on the rocks. Your vanilla lotion you put on earlier in the day has magnified from the “game playing”. Add all this together, and you have Dior Addict.

felised

Sex in a bottle. So seductive and captivating. I could wear this any day, but usually prefer to save it for the night time. The opening is a bit bitter and citrusy on my skin, which I like, but the best of Addict shines through after about 20-30 minutes when the warm vanilla and the spiciness become more dominant. I don't think I have ever smelled the original formulation but would love to get my hands on a bottle. I absolutely love the current version though, so I wouldn't mind if I never do. Also has great longevity and is my most complimented perfume to date.

Addict is one of my signature scents and I want to keep wearing it for a lifetime. Arguably the best Dior scent currently on the market in their designer line. Can't speak for the private collection as I haven't tried any of them with the exception of one.

GinCatsBooks

I'm having a day where I just cannot be bothered, everything I try to do keeps getting undone by others and quite frankly, its exhausting. I was going to stay in bed but decided I'd dress myself up and have a few squirts of Addict, while I still feel like I cannot be bothered, I at least smell and look nice (for myself, no one else bar me) and I remembered that I still haven't reviewed Addict yet, so here we go.

I have the newest incarnation of Addict EdP, I've not smelt the original Addict from 2002 or the 2012 so I can't comment on those, but what I can say is I have always loved it from first sniff and it took me a while to finally buy it, like all the great hits in my collection.

Addict is a warm, dry vanilla but its also surprisingly green, the greeness in the initial opening reminds me a lot of how a bouquet of fresh Chrysanthemums smell, this is obviously not a listed note and is more than likely a combination of orange blossom and mandarin leaf which create this, but it is really unusual and intresting. Not long after you spray and the leafy green floral nuances make themselves known, a heft of smoky/sweet yet dry vanilla starts to emerge laced with jasmine, its not sickly or sticky however, its just gloriously warm and soft. It is slightly linear, for the most part, I only really get the light floral notes and vanilla without much development until a good 5 or 6 hours later when the vanilla becomes more milky and woody.

Longevity, on me at least is pretty damn good, 10 hours with an intimate/moderate silage. Its one of those scents which makes me feel better about myself and makes me feel like "I can!" and sometimes, thats what we need, be it from fragrance, makeup, clothes etc, sometimes we all need that extra umph and Dior Addict EdP along with Chanel Allure EdP and Acqua Di Parma Magnolia Nobile do that for me so well.
Will repurchase again for sure, I just wish they kept the old integrated atomizer.

I loved this perfume on paper but hate it on my skin. It goes very spicy and masculine when I wear it. I can see why people like this but it's not for me; I actually don't find it very floral, more of a spicy sandalwood with a hint of vanilla.

TheSweaterGirl

The original 2002 Addict has been my signature scent since 2008/2009. I do have a full 100ml of that and a full 100ml of the 2012 versions, but I know I’ll eventually run out, so I started looking for an alternate scent to wear day to day. I honestly was scared to test this newer reformulation. Too many disappointed Addict lovers who stated “the magic is gone” and such. I didn’t want to face the disappointment😅

But I decided to grab a sample alongside the dozen others I was ordering to test. I’ve been testing it the last few days and I’d like to share my thoughts.

This is approximately 80/85% close to the original vintage Addict. It is actually quite nice, and I will likely go on to buy a full bottle in a few months time once I finish off a few other things.

The opening feels “thin” and lacking compared to the original. The original was an instant, strong, spicy burst that was powerful, and somewhat sharp. This version is lighter and “thinner” by comparison. After an hour or so this most closely resembles the original Addict. Although a vital mid note(night blooming cereus) isn’t present here. The overall feeling is the same.

The dry down is much simpler, compared to the original. A soft, warm and sweet almost straight vanilla. I never really got “vanilla” from the original. This dry down is very soft and pretty, very much the type of scent you want to nuzzle into and breathe deeply of.

Overall, while the current version lacks the spiciness and the deeper balsamic warmth and character of the original(lacking in the cereus, woody notes and deep amber) it is still a really beautiful and unique scent in the world of today’s designer fragrances. I can see that they have streamlined, lightened up and simplified the notes to compete in the modern market. Sadly all of the most rich and beautiful fragrances are deemed “grandma” scents by the youth. I’ll take the opulent grandma scents any day over the raging cotton candy tsunami everyone else is drowning in.

The current Addict still holds its own as a glamorous, sexy fragrance for someone who likes to stand out from the crowd.

Longevity is excellent. I can still smell it 12+ hours later. Projection seems moderate. However it may be simply that the spritz from my tester isn’t as hefty a dose as one would get via the proper bottle. I am testing 3 sprays on the chest/neck, and it isn’t as potent as 1 spray from my vintage bottle.

Maybe I am “that lady”, but I would absolutely wear Addict any season/day/night/occasion. But I adore a rich opulent scent with presence.

While this isn’t as jaw droppingly gorgeous and opulent as the OG Addict, it is still fantastic and I’m sorry it took me so long to try it. Absolutely still worth testing out😊

I don't know how to describe this perfume. I guess words may not be enough. My mother was using it when I first smelled it, I think I was about 10 then. That's when I first fell in love with this perfume. I used to use her perfume secretly from my mother on my way to school. Of course, I think there was a 2002 batch version back then. No problem! I always love you Dior Addict. First of all, it has a very dark structure. I feel the most beautiful form of vanilla note in this perfume. It is so beautiful that I get lost in it. Quite feminine, I don't think it's suitable for men's use. It's a very sexy perfume. And yes, unfortunately it might be too heavy for the summer season. But I use it every season because I am addicted to this perfume. Note: do not buy without trying. not suitable for blind buying

Opium Bleu ★★★★★

The more I get into vintage Dior fragrances the more I have to face the reality that it’s become my favourite house of all time. Poison is a legend, Diorella is an enigma, Fahrenheit is an avant-garde monument, Dolce Vita is happiness bottled and Dune is an undisputed masterpiece of no equal. Now Addict, in closer inspection, is an odd beast from Dior. The genius of Dune was removing all the heavy curtains from Must de Cartier's green amber and enveloping the central structure in a mysterious oceanic haze. What Addict then did was take their very own Dune and add back in the heavy curtains but this time, instead of Must’s dark brown, in deep blue velvet. Looking at notes Addict should promise a warm and cozy vanilla embrace akin to Hypnotic Poison from couple years earlier, yet on skin a surprising bone-dry and brisk incense chypre reveals itself in full glory – almost a spiritual successor to Opium in it’s warm-cool duality and sexually available take-no-prisoners sillage. Let's namedrop one more: What makes Addict so interesting is the raspy growl of the sandalwood incense that sharpens the velvety vanilla, which is an effect well exemplified in another classic, namely, LouLou! Perhaps Addict is not as complex as Opium, Dune, Must or even LouLou and more on the synthetic side, yet its nuclear longevity and unforgettable signature accord make it a technical masterpiece. If you ask me, this would be stunning on a man and even more, if one truly wants to stand out, a dab of Addict will punch its way through the air with no competition.

Unlike other Dior releases, Addict wasn’t revolutionary in introducing novel structures or ideas, but it is a successful hybrid of classics from the past and I absolutely admire it. Not sure if Dior's parfums section had anything to do with their fashion department at the time, but given that Galliano's more is more artistic direction was all over Dior in early 00's, the nature of Addict does start to make some sense. What comes to reformulations my bottle is a 2004 vintage and having sampled the current 2014 version I can conclude it isn’t nearly as disastrous as some claim. In fact it's very good and clearly a labour of love. The original is much spicier, woodier and resinously heavy on cinnamon and nutmeg, closer to the spirit of Opium, whereas the 2014 formulation is more bourbon vanillic with white florals on the front respecting the contemporary gourmand trends. The 2014 reformulation is also noticeably drier, almost chalky, and surprisingly brinds to mind the chalky jasmine in Caron's 3eme Homme! Sillage and longevity are through the roof, but as always, vintage reigns supreme. Long live the cult of Addict!

This is the 2014 reformulated version of the original 2002 perfume. You can tell by the silver band and button. The original does not have a band at all and a gold button and a twist spray instead of a cap. There’s also a 2012 version that has a gold band and button.
That being said: I think this version is a lot more like the original compared to the 2012 version. It’s just not that strong and everlasting as the 2002 version. Still love it. Hope they keep it on the marker forever and don’t reformulate again. Unless it will be totally like the original.

I have always wanted to try this perfume (in all honesty, the bottle was what really caught my attention) and so I am pleased I finally got the chance.
On my skin it's quite strong combination of jasmine, vanilla and woods - the combination becomes quite heavy to my nose, almost reminding me of those old cabinets my late grandmother used to have in her old house. It's not bad, though, it's a very nice, elegant and kind of dark scent. :) So, I really do get the "old" impression the reviewers below stated, too, although in a rather positive way.

fformoso88

I got the bottle with the silver on it so I can only assume it’s this version. I got this bottle for a steal and omg! I love it!!! It’s so gorgeous and well blended. I also get a lot of compliments on it. I get the vanilla, tonka, jasmine and white florals. Absolutely gorgeous and for a designer fragrance the longevity and silage are beast mode. This is such a sexy, seductive, but classy and sophisticated fragrance. Takes me back to the early 2000’s which to me was the best time to be alive! Lol To me this smells so unique and niche. People always ask what I’m wearing when I have this on. They say I smell so good. Definitely recommend. I use this year round even though some might say it’s a winter/fall fragrance but rules were meant to be broken lol

LondonJean

In Sweden, we often grate the zest of a lemon in the batter when we make sponge cake. As I child, I always got to lick the bowl after my mom made that cake. That is the memory this scent gives me. One of my all time vanillas. ❤️

mariboo

I bought it blindly and couldn't go through with it. Too dark, something about it made me think of pepper and made me feel older. Ended up giving it to my mother, it suited her well and she loved it. In conclusion, I don't reccomend it for younger girls.

seliko

when i first sprayed it, i was immediately greeted with white florals. i had a little bit of prejudice against it, it made me think why people kept calling this sexy. not that i don’t like them, it just made me wonder what made everyone fall for it if it’s simply white florals.
some time passed and it became sweeter and i was intrigued and happy to realize that this fragrance is not at all linear.

and then it settled. this is where it made me laugh because this smells exactly like a winter drink. it was as if you were sipping on your sweet, vanilla-y drink with cinnamon sprinkled on top, near a jasmine tree. it’s just as potent and dense in aroma as that drink.
i personally don’t like the drink lol and i don’t think i would ever wear this fragrance, it is simply not my style. i like sweet scents however usually not straight up edible-smelling gourmands.
also beware, i feel like it is very easy to get bored of this scent, or feel overwhelmed by it.

Liz-frag

Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell at a runway crazy after party in the 2000s. That is the time and place this fragrance evokes to me. For me, it is some sort of vintage because I was born in 2000 so there is a certain « era I never lived in » kind of charm to it. I sure knew women as a kid wearing this!
The white flowers gives this « narcotic » vibe that tuberose or jasmine has, like the best quality dope you could find in Paris Hilton’s 6000$ purse 🤪
Love to wear this 20 years after on a girl’s night out with my hot friends going into hyped clubs in the city.

ajfragrances

Wow, this is so beautiful, intoxicating and just down right sexy! Soooo pretty. Such a lush blend of vanilla and florals and citrus. No note is overpowered, they all blend to create such a creamy fragrance. Because it’s so well blended, you can kind of smell each note individually on its own. Lasts very well, I sprayed this before bed and the smell was still strong when I woke up. Sillage is great, but I would be careful to not over spray because it is quite strong and it’s not a safe over-sprayer. Longevity 10/10, sillage 10/10, smell 10/10…. 10s across the boards!

Cristinaaa

Apparently mandarin leaf and orange blossom are among my favorite notes because this opening is EVERYTHING. In my opinion, this is where Dior Addict gains the most points. The top notes are assertive, sharp, memorable. It is the unapologetic, headstrong streak in all of us. Then we get to the dry down. She's still a beauty but the fragrance becomes more sensual, alluring, and comforting. It is a sweet vanilla spiced with cinnamon. How did Francois Demachy manage to convey so many personalities into one fragrance?

hazi

I can feel the cinnamon and vanilla the most. A strong and solemn scent that is warm but not sticky

melusina1982

I'm usually ok with reformulations. Most of them still work on my skin or I can see the change and live with it at least.
This one is totally different, they killed the magic for me. Hope it is my faulty nose.
Very glad for you who can still wear it,please enjoy it to the fullest because it is one of the most enchanting fragrances ever.

lauren_louisa

I’ve worn this for years. I occasionally cheat on it with other fragrances but I always come back. In the afternoon I just want to eat myself it smells so delicious. Not a patch on the original formation but still beautiful and my absolute favourite.

I’ve been told I smell like a chocolate orange and I’m not sure that’s a glowing review, but I love it so much.

aeroseana

my roommate used to wear this everyday and i remember asking her what perfume she was wearing the first time we met. a very rich jasmine scent. i definitely fell in love with this the first time i tried it and think it has some sort of timeless quality to it i can't quite explain. as i already mentioned it is quite a dark floral so i'd say it's more for the night time but you could get away with wearing it during the day as long as you don't over-spray it.
it's charming and sexy, will receive lots of compliments for sure. definitely "addicting" just like the name suggests ;)

tanny_ups

Best perfume ever! It was love at first sniff! It is so classy and sexy! I adore it!!

BeccaRose37

Just recently blindly bought a bottle of this. It's a sophisticated vanilla. The orange blossom is such a beautiful touch to this fragrance and adds just the right amount of elegance. I'm 32 and don't feel too young for this, but to me, this fragrance is definitely for a mature woman. This is now my go to scent for cooler weather date nights :)

dismalharmony

Oh my gosh, this takes my breath away every time I wear it. It’s a masterpiece. The initial spray is floral and green in an almost wet, dewy way, with the bourbon vanilla humming beneath it, just begging to emerge. Snatches of citrus weave their way between the flowers, and never stay for very long. Once the vanilla takes center stage (which doesn’t take very long at all), it’s a total powerhouse. It mingles so beautifully with the jasmine and becomes downright intoxicating. I feel that I, squat and plain, can get away with this for casual wear. On someone a little more beautiful and a little less hot-mess, though, this will likely read as straight-up seductive. I will leave you with the sole shortcoming of this fragrance, which is based entirely in user error: DO. NOT. OVERSPRAY. Even if you love this fragrance with every ounce of your being like myself, it WILL make you nauseous. This shit is potent. Please do not let this deter you, though. When applied with a light hand, this may just steal your heart like it did mine.

ETA 6/15/22: This lasts forEVER on clothing - as in, a sweater I last wore in January or February still has Addict caught in its fibers, emitting its gorgeous aroma. I blew through 20 ml of decants last winter, so a FB will be a must come November!

JuicyJes

I get different notes every time I wear this. Once, I got a nearly menthol green note, though more reminiscent of novacaine and a dentist's office (only a bit), with the vanilla that practically made my tongue numb. I loved it. This is absolutely gorgeous. Cinnamon, vanilla, light greenery, light earthiness, and white flowers. It's a little sexy but in a somewhat serious and grown up way. I would not have worn this in my early twenties, and I feel as though I'm pushing it a little bit now. I think in a tight black dress on a date with a very serious man, I could pull this off. For now, I will continue to wear it and not pull it off ;)

ConcreteRose

OMG IM IN LOVE! She is a creamy, sensual, sexy, white floral vanilla! Alittle green but so well balanced! she’s grown, she’s captivating, she’s confident, she’s bold & long lasting! she’s mature but flirty. You will be noticed with this beauty! The more and more I try her, I fall deeper and harder! Dior addict is just one of a kind. I’ve never smelled anything like her! Definitely a sexy classic yet modern scent. I know she’s been around for years. I’m 32 and I just recently fell for her!

TihanaB

If I had to put keywords for this one, it would be sensual, expensive and confidence.

That's how I feel when I spray Dior Addict. You can never miss when mixing vanilla with white flowers.
Mandarin leaf brings freshness at the beginning and then disappears, leaving vanilla with orange blossom and just a tad of jasmine so the fragrance stays warm and inviting.

I got my bottle for Valentine's day in 2018. and since then it's my signature perfume.
Absolute winner when it comes to compliment showers and date nights.

I never tried the earlier version with the golden cap and probably would not dare to do so. If I love today's version this much, can't imagine what would it be like if I got my hands on vintage Addict.

Two sprays are more than enough for great longevity and projection.

Wonderful masterpiece that will never smell outdated.

menmen

On my skin it smells like a pumpkin pie candle. Maybe you're into that but to me it just smells like a Christmas airfresher. Probably just doesn't work on my skin. I'm so disappointed because I was hoping to love it with how popular it is

Roos88dutch

Love it so much love the combo of sandel wood , tonka and vanilla . To me it’s a really feminine and little mature luxurious fragrance . I feel really feminine when I wear it .I think the reformulation killed it a bit , the juice inside is now blue . Fragrance feels a bit lighter as wel . Stil love it but it’s a shame they change it again ! I want it always in my collection but if my Bottle is empty now I think I don’t rebuying it again .

PerfuMEOW

The bourbon vanilla ruined it for me. I smelled like cinnamon... Close to a chai Latte. It smells better to me on others, so I gave it away to a coworker. The other notes alone would've made it perfect for me, but Dior and I have a love hate relationship. I should love Hypnotic Poison, but it smells like root beer to me. However, I do love me some Pure Poison!!!

Hypnotic Flower

If you're in Europe, there's a company that makes dupes called Yodeyma. They also make one of Dior Addict called "MIA" which is a tad sweeter in the first minutes. I keep testing the original in stores and I cannot smell much of a difference!

Andreaelvira

I really liked this when I tried it on my skin In the store. However when I came home and sprayed it again, I god a headache. Based on the notes I really thought I would love this as I adore vanilla and orange blossom. I have tried if several times after that but I really can't seem to like it. It smells somehow leathery on me all the while being very citrusy. Maybe this is just on my skin, but this is not a perfume I enjoy. Its lasts a long time though!

cmnwanna

People who like earthy vanilla (not boozy vanilla) scents would like this better than me...On my skin, the 2014 version of Dior Addict smells like a simple fresh 'green' and milky vanilla with a soft floral background scent. It lasts about 4 to 6 hours on me (personally) as a skin or 'somewhat there' scent, not strong, way too soft for me...Unfortunately, I am looking for a more long-lasting, winter warming, comforting, and sexy and boozy vanilla scent that projects well. This is the last time I will buy a perfume based on YouTube reviews.

Dior Addict Edp (Silver Trim) 💙
Be still my heart - This fragrance is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!

Dior Addict is an absolute LOVE at first sniff. I had to literally remove another fragrance from "My Favorites Shelf" here on Fragrantica to add Dior Addict!!!

I've heard Addict was reformulated several times. If the earlier formulations are better than this silver trim edp, I will be totally infatuated and speechless if I smell them! The silage, longevity and overall performance is a BEAST!! - I sprayed this perfume on a paper strip and I can still smell it (24+ hours later).🎯

I am happy I've found this pleasantly, beautiful, sweet, savory, jewel of a fragrance! Dior Addict Edp.

Exploring vanilla fragrances, getting really deep into it, and loving it!
Addict has been on my radar for a while: It´s a classic. It´s supposed to be huge on vanilla. Some say it´s "challenging", it seems to be a love or hate perfume.
I bought the 2014 formula, in a split from a trusted seller, and now i have been wearing it for 5 days in a row.
Targeted to women (i am a man and i wear what i want, as we all should) with jasmine flower....i´ve tried a few jasmine dominated perfumes and they actually CAN be quite challenging for me, personally. It is something with the heavyness, jasmine is often ripe, deep, sweet, it takes over. This is my experience.

Will not get into the reformulation talk, it is what it is.

2014 Dior Addict is not a weak, diluted perfume, i can tell you that. It has a lot of attitude! It is heavy on projection and most and foremost, i think it is very floral. Vanilla, yes, but the jasmine is all over the place. Seriously.

I am keeping this, i can handle it. Maybe i will layer with some incense to get it a bit darker (but still floral, vanillic).
Becouse, i must say, it is leaning femme. And a bit mature femme, let´s say a woman in her 30´s or even a bit older than that. You can wear this any season but summer. It´s sexy. A woman who wear this, i would love to ask her out, if i had the guts!

If you are travelling through vanilla-land, like i do, you should have a sniff on this. It IS a vanilla - but even more so, it is a floral perfume. And the 2014 formula is bad ass, you don´t need to hunt down expensive vintage bottles on eBay to have the full on effect, i promise.

vickkfleur

Blind bough the Dior Addict (Silver Cap) based on the reviews. It smells really green and really earthy. This is definitely a winter night time perfume as it is heavy and rich so to speak. The Jasmine is very strong in this which makes it more suitable for a mature woman IMO. I like it but not love it.

giparisan

This one is so beautiful, powerful and sexy that I almost feel like I’m a scammer when I’m wearing it lol for real I don’t even feel like I have enough personality to make this perfume justice.

Projects like crazy, longevity is basically forever, I swear there are times I can still smell it after showering, and it lasts even better on clothes, I have a scarf that smelled like this months after wearing it.

I’m surprised there is no cinnamon on the notes, on me the dry down is purely vanilla and cinnamon, luckily two favourites of mine!

KladfvbungMicshk

I wanted to like this because of the reviews, but felt disappointed when I tried it. I can see how it might be comforting, and to me it does have a very late90s/early00s vibe that’s nostalgic, but apart from the nostalgia the vanilla in this is very heavy and made me nauseous in the car back home. I also don’t get the mysterious personality that it’s supposed to have.

FeleciaB

I recently purchased Dior addict (silver on cap) and it is lovely! For reference I love scents like mon guerlain, killian Angels share, Prada candy and even scents like Kerosene Follow and Pink sugar. Dior Addict was a blind buy for me so I was nervous but I am over the moon with it. Even though sandalwood isn't listed as a note I feel like I smell Sandalwood for sure. To me it's slightly boozy vanilla mixed with Sandalwood and a touch Jasmin. It definitely is more of a green vanilla scent rather then gourmand vanilla. It's warm and comforting and in my opinion perfect for winter. My husband likes it as well. I would say it's a more mature scent but not in an old lady kind of way. If I focus I can detect the mandarin leaf as well but it's not a fruity scent in my opinion. Definitely is addictive. I plan on buying Addict Fraiche in March as I owned Addict 2 in highschool and loved it, and supposedly fraiche is it's replacement. Although I don't recall what it smelled like and hope I didn't love it just because I was young and it was Dior lol.

aybik3

This is absolutely addictive. I don't know about the old versions but even the current bottle is very good. it reminds me of something from the past and gives me peace. on cold days..

silverma

I watched someone do a positive review for this perfume, but on me, it's just a little more mature for my age. Definitely get a slight greeny, bourbon vanilla smell.

brionica1013

I've never smelled the earlier versions of Addict so I cannot know what I am missing. I don't know if this version is better or worse than the others, but on its own it is truly amazing. It reminds me of two things: a wonderful smelling gun oil called Hoppe's No. 9, and a type of incense called Indian Sandalwood I used to buy all the time from an esoteric shop in the mall in my early 20's. There's no sandalwood listed in the notes, interestingly enough. The vanilla in this is not your typical syrupy sweet vanilla, it's a straight-from-the-pod, boozy, almost spicy vanilla. It's sensual, addicting, and stands on a pedestal above every other vanilla perfume in existence, in my opinion. This one is sexy and bold but also warm-hearted and won't let you down.

Annelota

This smells like old Spanish sugar daddies 💰👴🏼

It's a very mature smell. Intoxicating. I think it's unisex.
Obviously I don't like it on myself 😅 and not really on others either.

The only good about this is that it has a strong projection and longevity.

Sjess

I bought this after reminiscing about the original, I really loved that one! This is nice enough new version, it smells mostly the same (from memory) but the original was a beast and this one isn't. Still strong and very recognizable but a bit toned down. Happy to have it back in my life but will hunt for an original 😊

rqqq

Strongest perfume I've ever experienced. Projection is crazy. You can smell yourself at all time, always feel surrounded. 10/10 as a quality perfume.
I cannot even tell if i like the scent, I'm shocked by the new experience.

ladyjb

A bit tangy an much greener than I thought it would be! Must be the mandarin leaf. It is a very pleasant scent but kind of smells like nothing. A bit underwhelming. Sillage is terrible, it is a skin scent on me. The vanilla is nice. My husband kind of screwed his nose up when asked if he liked it and said it was ok but couldn't really describe it. Sometimes I think all these "maneater" perfumes are just women's opinions on what they think men like

sensous_5877

The weather has changed; already prepping my closet for fall/winter.

And... There is something I recently started to love about Addict: this vanillic + powdery, balsamic, ambre-note (which reminds me a little of the ambre note in L’Ambre des Merveilles by Hermès ... But also the powder+benzoin formula in prada candy... And the vanilla in hypnotic poison (but of course, all these fragrances are totally different!!)).

This addictive formula is one of a kind ....with its spices, cinnamon?, Vanilla,
orange peel, something citrus-y, something green but also zesty,
Jasmine, maybe neroli,
musk, maybe tolu balsam,
maybe benzoin, maybe ambre,
maybe tonka, the woody notes, sandalwood for sure
...and who knows what... This scent makes me look forward to the even colder days ahead.

***
Me 2 years ago: "I hoped for more vanilla. It was so different when I first tried it (back in the days, when addict's bottle had the golden detailing)".
"On my skin this smells like... when I make cola-syrup with orange peel, lemon, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and other spices."
***

That all has not changed. But I just realized how good and long lasting Addict just is - and that I appreciate it for all of that it is - this 'grown up scent'.
The composition is unlike other hyped fragrances on the market that are overly sweet or that have too much of the same ingredients in them.

Ps. I don't find this one to be overpowering, has a good projection, but 3 spritzers are enough for me for the day (in the office).

Love. --- But try before u buy.

Wiktoriaaaz

Heavyyyy on the jasmine and florals, then the vanilla smooths it over. A real master piece. I’m sure the original formulation was breath taking, considering that was vanilla heavy. This is definitely floral first then vanilla. In such a cosy way though, it gives me the impression of some fall spices as well but that may just be me.

I get how this could be mature for some people, and it definitely isn’t a super youthful scent. It’s sexy and grown up. I’m 18 and I love it and wont be afraid to wear it! This with montale vanille absolu is incredible!

Update, I’ve worn this to work for 2 days in the row now with the layering combo mentioned and mmm… it’s my current favourite. I’ve been waking up hoping every morning it’s cold out so I can be enveloped by this warm sexy comforting scent. Yes, I get the name now. This is addicting.

Hammyt100

I got a bottle of this because of the amazing reviews and the notes sounded right up my alley.

I do like it. But I feel I'm too young/immature right now to pull this one off or do it justice. I'm saving my bottle for when I get older, I look forward to being able to confidently wear this and feel like it fits me.
I'm 25 right now. It is beautiful, but does feel a bit more mature. Doesn't smell old or old fashioned though! I'm sitting here imagining Autumns of the future being filled with this fragrance...

Siv7Stars

I have resisted trying to replace Addict since I bought two bottles when it was first issued.. I don't think it's worth trying to hunt down a really old one as my first issue remainder has gone off.. But looking at the notes here I'm presuming they took the night blooming cereus out for this latest formula which is the current one in the shops?

KylieBooFace

I was fascinated by this perfume and the Queen of the Night Flower concept. I liked it at first spray, but there is this musty undertone I can't get behind. Damn :(

clairesque

Impression from a paper strip: This is exactly the sexy, maneater type of scent I expected to get when I tried the much-hyped Alien. Creamy vanilla and jasmine, I feel like I'm picking up sandalwood too. It is literally addicting, I can't stop smelling my test strip of it.

missmaddiemac

This is such a sexy fragrance. Sexy but more on the mature, confident side than the younger, flirty side. I'm 25 and I love how I feel when I wear it. Femme fatale vibes. If you love vanilla scents, especially ones by Francois Demachy, this is a safe blind buy. The bottle is sleek/nice to look at. I think it's not too heavy for the summer if you're a light sprayer/don't wear it on 90+ degree days. Definitely in my top ten favorite scents of all time.

I LOVE IT

Austuom

So comforting, warm, hypnotizing and addictive ( the name of the parfum totally makes sense to me). Just one spray at the time and it will last forever. It is 100% for fall/winter, I rarely feel like using it during summer. This EDP is at it's best during colder time of the year. It has been my number one parfum for at least 10 years.

cocolily1

I love how strong and powdery this scent is. I bought it in September 2020 and have worn it into a few times as I’m still getting used to the somewhat diesel like dry down which does fade away eventually. The vanilla come through very well and this perfume definitely makes me feel very sensual and confident

Tropicat28

This is the best spicy vanilla fragrance ever in my opinion. I do smell cinnamon which is not listed. The colder the temperature, the better it smells. I do wish they would put out flankers in Ruby, Emerald and Amethyst in color that are similar, not the freshie frankers. Idk why Dior has never come out with these. Rose Jasmine spicy vanilla for the Ruby, Pear Jasmine Spicy Vanilla for the Green and heliotrope or maybe lavender ( According to a study published by the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, lavender's scent, when combine with pumpkin pie spice, is arousing to men. In fact, in the clinical trial, the scent increased penile blood flow by 40%) Jasmine spicy vanilla for the Amethyst. Just an example.

igalmusic

This is absolutely beautiful! So sensual and sexy, for me it is a perfect scent for every day use. Blend of jasmine and vanilla is an absolute perfection. Only for confident women. I have about 40 perfumes in my collection but if I would have to choose only one for life it would be this one, and Pure Poison ;) I love Dior!

VeroMikaela

Although it has been in perfumery for years, I have never leaned too carefully on it. I was too scared. I did it today and I'm dismayed. Addict 2014 is a flanker of the old Addict. That is, something that resembles the original without getting too close. It looks more like Armani Code or other Addict flankers, e.g. Eau Fraiche . It is a light, soft, unpretentious vanilla that has almost lost its ADDICT olfactory imprint, like a hitman who erases his imprints becoming a ghost. Where's the juicy tangerine, where's the smoked vanilla, where's the unique cereus? All is gone !!!! :( All that's left is a perfume suitable for layering with too high price for what it offers.

Update 12. 2021.
The new re reformulation from 2018- 2019 have cinnamom in the dry down

Kumquanista

I love it and have owned many bottles.
Sticky & tingling, bit powdery, classy vanilla. Depth. We have good chemistry going on, Addict and me.
Always miss it when I finish my bottle.
The tingling that surrounds me while wearing it makes me come back.
But I won’t for a while. I need to explore you know. For the love of God make me stop blind buying.

am.zamfir

This is the strongest perfume I've ever owned. I can smell it on my clothes after a week. It is sweet with a green undertone. Silage is enormous. I can only wear this in winter, wouldn't recommend it for work because it is intoxicating. It is my favorite perfume but unfortunately it is not suitable for every day. Definitely a head turner.

Bibi_S

On my skin this opens very green. There are some 'citrusy' notes that remain quite prominent all the way. I can detect similarities with Arpege by Lanvin, but that one is a bit more deeper and more powerful. I also think it shares similarities with Manifesto by YSL. I would wear it in warmer months as well.

Mizmalibu

Strong, sweet and sexy, the ultimate date night or clubbing fragrance. I sprayed it (and liberally) by accident this morning before going to work, maybe not the best idea but I enjoyed it (I don’t know if my coworkers did...)

violetx28

if you’re expecting a vanilla bomb... this is not it, smells like burnt rubber

i’ve got a 50ml bottle up for sale for €60 excluding shipping or swap for a full 50ml LNT a la folie (i live in the netherlands)

CallMeT__

Whew!!! Opens up very green on my skin. That mandarin leaf REALLY shows up and shows out, and the “greenness” is almost enough for me to say NO, NO, NOPE.... but then the vanilla pulls through, and so does the jasmine and all is well again in the world! I will update my review after a wear test.

UPDATE after 2 wears:
Love! It dries down into a thick vanilla that’s neither juvenile nor mature! I also don’t smell much of the greenness from the first day I wore this. The vanilla in Addict is laced with a slight tinge of green, separating this from the “young” type of vanilla (looking at you my beloved Fantasy). Would I suggest this as a safe blind buy? No. I think this is an acquired taste. Performance is OK, around 5 hours on my skin. I’d say Addict is best suited to night time, Autumn/Winter and date night type events. I would repurchase.

loislane007

I really love this scent. I find it perfect for cold weather it is perfectly warming and cosy. This would be great for date night or when you are feeling sensual. I have seen a few comments calling it mature and I don’t get that vibe but I am in my early thirties so that could be why.

Natalieex

This is undeniably one of the most sexy fragrances that I have ever smelled. Every time I spray this I close my eyes and take a minute to just enjoy this. It’s spellbinding!

It’s a warm, rich, spicy vanilla with a heavy dose of jasmine and a touch of greenness.

This is classy, sophisticated and mature, but not in an outdated way and it definitely doesn’t give me “grandmother” vibes.

Projection and sillage are 10/10

KAZAAM 💥...
Got this at a sale this january. I had this once when I was younger. As I remember this is close to the juice from back then.
This screams stylish, classy booslady.
I mostly get the heavy vanilla and some Jasmine notes.
Silage and longevity are amazing.
This I will wear whenever I want to feel empowered and strong.

A big thumbs up from here

melekd200

Even if it is not mentioned in the ingredients, I get cinnamon with vanilla and sandalwood. It is really so sexy, feminine, and warm fragrance. I can use it as a signature scent. However, in the summer months, it could be a heavy choice because it has very strong sillage and longevity. :)

NiceSmellingTeen

I smelled it on my cousin when I was a child and remembered the smell to this day. It is just so warm, and intoxicating, I can't get enough of it. Especially when I get a whiff of it during the day. It is a beutiful floral vanilla, but if you haven't tried it don't think that you can assume what it smells like, because you can't. Vanilla in the most beautiful, feminine way. ❤ Longevity is really great on me, projection not so much for now. I asked my friend to smell it and to tell me what she thinks about it. She said it smells like a beautiful woman going on a date in a luxurious restaurant.

SoftWisdom

A unique long-lasting vanilla that I'm so happy to have in my wardrobe! I only find myself wanting to wear this in the winter, it's just so perfectly suited to snowy days in my opinion. Cozy and mature, but playful and seductive too. I don't really smell cinnamon per say, unless it is just a little bit, sprinkled in hot milk with sweet vanilla. I've tried this and the 2012 version and I prefer this one; I'd love to smell the original one day.

Miss_Vanity

This one was on my wish list for quite some time. I can see why people are frustrated about this whole reformulation thing. There's no doubt that it lacks the depth of the original one, however it's a very feminine, seductive fragrance. I am very impressed with the longevity and the quality. I will definitely buy the 3oz bottle, it's a 9/10 for me.

Lucritia darke

An absolute classic, pure and warm, this scent makes me feel beautiful and classy, yet approachable, so addictive, you just have to give in to its charms, it will be around long after its critics.

soumayaela

Overhyped perfume in the youtube community
In every perfume video i saw this one so i blind bought it
Oh my god, very spicy very cinnamon vanilla headache inducing not pleasing or feminine at all
It smells like a classy old grand mother
I can't see myself wearing in any occasion or situation
Yes it's dior but a big NO from me 👎👎👎👎
I have Pure poison and Hypnotic poison from dior, I enjoy them both a lot! one is fresh and sexy and the other one is cozy and creamy
But Addict is just not for me

ingeneuxo

-This review is based on a 2014 formulation.
-Spicy vanilla scent.
-Overhyped fragrance by the YT community.
-Suits career women aged 35+
-Not fbw unless you fit the age profile. (-)

u24masonl

Ooh I like this. It's boozy, feminine, floral, seductive and grown-up. It also smells very retro to me - not dissimilar to CK Be, which is what my mum used to wear in the early nineties. But a classier version. perhaps this is why I love this perfume so much.

Regardless, I could not stop smelling my wrist. the smell really is... addictive. A lovely balance of floral, spicy and gourmand notes. Classic and classy. It also lasted a good eight hours on me - I could smell it on my pillow the following morning. This is going on my wish list!

thefrenchie

All I can smell is dry cinnamon, am I the only one? I really wanted to love this fragrance but I don't want to smell like christmas.

UPDATE

Tried it once again. I don't smell the cinnamon anymore. It is a mature white flower scent, I insist on the mature word. I am 24 and I don't think this can match my age for everyday, maybe for a professional event or something serious.

This is discreet, long lasting, powerful white flower. It has no sweetness in it.

neurofeels

This perfume, specifically the 2014 formulation, is the most intoxicating thing I have ever smelled. It opens with green, almost grassy notes before drying down to the most delicious vanilla pudding scent ever. That vanilla makes my eyes roll to the back of my head every time I smell it, it's mindblowing. I also get white florals in the mid. My skin tends to eat fragrance so I don't get much sillage at all unfortunately, but it lasts forever (especially on clothes!). It's been my signature for years, I'm OBSESSED.

Dior Addict is reformulated so frequently that it's difficult to find the right version, but the 2014 formulation is by far the best in my opinion. I've tried the 2012 and there's a harsh citrus note that ruins the entire thing. I really hope the 2020 batch is as good or I'll be saving my old bottle forever!

Mel14

This was an acquired taste for me. It took a while for me to like it... a looong while. This was one of my mom's perfumes and the first time I smelled it I felt it was too strong, formal and old fashioned for me, thus completely ignored it. She wasn't to fond of it either. So it stood in her counter for a while...five years to be exact. I am a fan of perfume reviews on YouTube and everybody and their mother where describing this scent as amazing, addictive, nothing short of wonderful... which had me scratching my head galore. Last Christmas (a few days ago) I decided to give it another try (by this time around I have smelled quite a few perfumes during the years, which has allowed me to be a better judge of them) and Bingo! I fell head over heels in love with it...Now I understand the hype! I couldn't understand for the life of me why I did not like it before...and because it is such a good quality perfume it has not rotted away to my surprise and gladness!!

Now on to the smell...

The first thing I noticed upon initial spray is the high quality ingredients of the perfume..no alcohol smell here at all. I immediately pick up the green smell of the mandarin leaf and orange blossom the first few seconds after which I smell the jasmine and vanilla combined. There is not much change after that, it dries down to a creamy high quality vanilla scent. To my nose, I feel that there are more unlisted ingredients in this perfume... such as cinnamon that combined with the vanilla brings a wintery Christmas vibe!

Sillage is outstanding and longevity is ok. This perfume doesn't morph much as it gets closer to skin yet the dry down is very pleasant smelling. I would wear this perfume during cold days and formal occasions. It is a very well put together scent meant for professional and formal settings.

9/10

Belovedme

Words can't describe how much I adore this fragrance. A true masterpiece imo, all time favorite of mine. Love it forever. Smells like one of those high end fragrances, very long lasting and comforting scent.

floralwoodymusk

Review for newest 2020 formula: this is basically vanilla scented nail polish remover. I once had a bottle of the 2014 formula but returned it because it was kinda meh on me. Compared to this junk, the so-so version was a masterpiece. I want to like it and give it credit for having some greenish notes (cardamom maybe?) but there are no redeeming qualities - it goes on harsh, there's a 10 minute window of it being just okay, and the drydown is vague and plasticky. If this was $25 sure, buy it out of morbid curiosity. At full price, a terrible idea. I'm looking at alternatives like Tom Ford Noir and old school Shalimar.

floralwoodymusk

Warning about the 2020 formula - it's a screechy, plasticky floral with a harsh opening. Smelled like vanilla nail polish remover at first, was mildly tolerable, and now it's vaguely vanilla plastic again, like a kid's toy. Check batch code before purchase (if possible).

AnaisLouLou

There's definitely nutmeg/cinnamon, vanilla and powdered sugar in this perfume. Unfortunately, I don't like cinnamon as a flavouring, unless it's on a hot cinnamon donut.

It shares the same DNA as Poison Girl.

This is a warm, cozy, spiced, likeable linear fragrance. I wish I could get my hands on the original Thierry Wasser creation.

This perfume is missing something, in the same way that modern J'Adore is missing something. On the upside, none of Dior's modern reformulations have headache inducing ingredients for me. I have a 2020 batch.

Update: Today, I was feeling a bit under the weather. I stayed home and reapplied this all day. It's a very comforting fragrance.

sunny_luv

This one surprised me! At first I thought it would be too strong and I wouldn't like it but I noticed I kept opening the cap to sniff it. I wore it the other day and washed the shirt and I can still smell it on the shirt. It's quite a bright perfume, not very sweet on me because my skin tends to eat up vanilla so I get a lot of citrus and white floral particularly the mandarin leaf, it's beautiful. I think it could be a signature scent. But imo it doesn't perform the best in winter. I definitely recommend trying it if it's accessible to you :)

delightme5

Seems more complex than the notes suggest. Lots of surprises for the right wearer - mine is a pre 2020 of this latest version. Has a unisex capacity definitely ! This turns into green powder on me down the track - most times. A winner but won't be an instant love for many. Start with 2 sprays and see how you go.
Oh and i agree with Whify below : What HAS happened to this site ?? @** Jeepers !! Yes, bring back the old !!

Natnat7283

I got this one as a gift... I love it sometimes but I find that I cannot spray too much and preferably on my back as the smell is a bit too intense for me, and makes me dizzy in some days. I do give it a rest and use it from time to time, and feel like it's best suited for the night time as it's that intense for me.
I like it, but definitely not for everyday/all day

sunny_luv

I just got this today. My skin brings out the citrus notes a lot so I'm sad to say I don't get much vanilla unless I press my nose to where I sprayed. Oh well.

Update: I wore this throughout the day and the citrus toned down and now it smells like marzipan on my skin. I didn't think I liked this at first but now I can't stop smelling myself haha

AquaBaby5

I hated this for years and then finally have started to enjoy it more recently. I think the richness is what turned me off, plus the greenness and white floral with vanilla is an acquired taste. I wore it this morning while it was cold and took a late shower. This scent got EXTREMELY indolic to the point of fecal once hot water hit it, so strange. Thank goodness that only lasted a few minutes.

jenniferg0924

WOW—just WOW!

I can’t remember the last time a fragrance wowed me and this fragrance totally did. I am speechless with how amazing it is.

This is boozy, smooth vanilla that is creamy and powdery! Like how can a scent be creamy AND powdery?? Well this is.

Imagine a pure vanilla leaf that is creamed with some thick milk to make it smooth with a baby powder dusted all over it with a mandarin leaf on top.

The jasmine is absolutely stunning in this. Jasmine sambac is my favorite kind of jasmine. I get a hint of orange blossom. This is jasmine and burst of the best vanilla you could ever imagine. This isn’t cake-like or too gourmande. It is the perfect balance.

This is mature, sexy, alluring and long lasting.

My favorite vanilla besides the vanilla in Mon Guerlain.

09/10 fragrance for me.
