I love the opening but as it dries down there is this old school soapiness that really takes away from the scent profile IMHO. It has slightly below average projection and poor longevity. I like the scent profile but it does have it shortcomings 7 out of 10

SweetPeaPea

I got a huge bottle of this for stupid cheap. Another take on the Invictus Aqua DNA. Perfect for out of the shower or a trip to the store in the summer heat. Just don't overspray cause you'll be tasting it in your mouth.

navalshastri

Original trial on strip:
The opening was amazing citrus, fresh but dry down was typical floral smell I have smelled before. It has similarities to Chrome Legend minus powder-ness.
Bit oldish smell.
It's a good smell, nothing extraordinary.
Dry down is not what is expected like woody or anything.
Good for formal and office wear.
LONGEVITY is average.
SILLAGE is good at opening, average at drydown.
PROJECTION is good at opening, average at drydown.

GerrieC

Very clean and fresh top notes in the beginning, the aromatic scent of the pepper also stands out. A slight floral note would've made it even better in my opinion. Unfortunately, it's very weak and generic, the fresh and strong top notes die down within an hour and after that the fragrance can only be smelt close to the skin. I got it on 25% discount without testing it first, it was a mistake on my part and is still overpriced in my opinion. The original Cool Water is 10x better, just stick with that.

poltergeist

I just got this today. Very nice. It's mainly grapefruit to my nose with some aquatics and a little citrus. Wave should layer well with my Cool Water Intense which I also like. Wave longevity and projection aren't that good, but just spray more. (: If you like a slightly spicy, grapefruit freshie, then this is for you. Smells a little like Versace Dreamer, but grapefruit.

TonySpilotro

Smells really good but even with 6 sprays on , people will have too get right up on you to smell it. Very weak and poor performance.... Shame because it really does smell good.

justinmartini314

If this lasted an hour or two more this would be a legit contender for an alternative to Invictus. I like Invictus DNA but the original Invictus is a little too juvenile and synthetic smelling. This one while still synthetic is toned down and more aquatic. This makes cool water wave more fresh and easier to wear. However, it only last 2-3hrs which is a shame. I usually don't stress about performance too much but once it gets less than 4hrs I just can't vouch. I only paid $14 for this one which is a plus but even for that money its a shame it doesn't perform better. I'll keep it for the gym and as my Invictus-like frag but won't use it for anything else. 7/10

Flamma

Smells fantastic but it's gone in one hour. It's not worth it to me, even for it's low price (under 20 usd) it's still too much for this fragrance, just because it's so weak. If it was under 10 usd it maybe worth it, but not for any more than that.

Bsal86

I agree with most of the reviews, this by far one of the best fresh/aquatic fragrances I have ever smelled!! BUT there’s a big down side ! After an hour on your skin the smell is gone :( this is one of those fragrances where you put it on just for your own enjoyment. Unless you buy one of the small pocket refill bottles and spray it on whenever you want to make an impression. What’s is cool about this fragrance is that Francis Kurkdjian was behind the making of this fragrance.

puri27

This fragrance is extremely popular in Japan. Given the country's high humidity, which makes daily life quite uncomfortable, this fresh, summery scent is absolutely delightful. However, the only drawback is its extremely short lifespan. I wonder if there are any plans to release an Eau de Parfum version of this perfume? It seems like it would be a huge hit if they did.

Rock76

Very affordable, smells like invictus + legend spirit super refreshing. Lasts 15mins on skin with zero sillage. If there is anything weaker than eau fraiche, this is it. LOL

Italian_ro

I had been putting this purchase off for a while. I saw it at my local discounter yesterday - $18 for 6.7 oz. I couldn't believe my eyes. I think they had it priced wrong, but that's their fault. For what I paid for this, I have zero complaints. I will say, however, if you do pay more than I did you will likely find it lacking in a couple areas. I sprayed it on 15 minutes ago and my wife laid in bed next to me and can't smell it anymore. She also had to get very close to my skin to smell it. Those two VERY important drawbacks aside, it does smell very, very good. I get zero original Cool Water DNA. It's a unique scent for sure. If Davidoff improves the staying power and sillage, I think they will have a very good summer fragrance here. I would even trash this bottle to get an improved one at retail price.

Sedovex

It has a nice smell, the bottle and the atomizer are actually satisfying to be used.
However, this lasts only 1 hour on my skin and maybe, just maybe 2 hours on clothes.

It is true that as a skin/close scent it can last many many hours and can also impregnate in clothing for a long time. But that's only if you touch the fabric or skin with your nose.

I would say this is worth it only if you want to have something to spray out of shower while you are chilling, moving in the house. Or if you want to go to the corner shop and buy some bread.
Otherwise.. it's pretty redundant and overpriced.

Knappie

Cool Water + 90s aftershave, with a little Montblanc Legend Spirit fuzziness lurking in the background. Not groundbreaking, and far more pleasant in the air than it has any right to be. Really good for when Invictus Aqua/Legend Spirit is too youthful to you.
At sub-20 bucks for 125ml this is a steal, but spend a little more and you might find something more unique.

ivelino

This fragrance does not fare well on my skin and its scent appears outdated at this point. Despite Francis Kurkdijian's involvement as one of its creators, I find it difficult to comprehend that three prominent perfumers collaborated on what I deem to be a rather unappealing men's fragrance. While it possesses a fresh quality, there's an undeniable synthetic aspect, likely attributed to an unappealing old-school note. Interestingly, it takes on a more favorable aroma when diffused into the air – it might serve well as a room freshener.

PerfumeNewb0001

My first thought was that it has the vibe of an air freshener or a recently cleaned toilet at a gas station or something like that. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I kinda like it.

It's reaaally aquatic and synthetic, also fresh and lemony. You need to spray it a lot if you want to get more than an hour off of it, but that's not an issue since it's dirt cheap.

Overall it's pretty nice if you want to smell like the sea.

ernestgal87

Smells like hairspray.

Rock76

Got this at $25. Performance is extremely weak and it becomes skin scent in 2 hours. You need 20 sprays at least if you want it to last a little longer. Bright side, this is similar to Invictus Aqua which is nice. Definitely need a decant to bring out else this is useless.

Mr. Melk

Absolutely unbearably nauseating and extremely synthetic to me.

Chaselark

Wow, not what I was expecting - and I like it a lot. Perfect dumb reach, clean, soapy and my nose is getting a well positioned note and I would even say an under-current of neroli throughout, a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. I check referenced with my Banana Republic Neroli Woods - and it's definitely neroli & that sandlewood base, surprised that's not been mentioned and it's not all that far off a subdued, muted Neroli Woods base and a mildly spicey clean mid and top. This is nothing like standard Cool Water that we all know. I'm reacting off the opening - have no idea about longevity.

jesz

First whiff: Clean. Safe. Citrus herbaceous green with a bit of spice.

Dry down: Same thing, but it lasts over 24 hours. A little goes a long way.

Decent for an office. Not really for a date.

jarno1208

I like it. It is fresh and clean. Easy to wear summer scent for the daytime. I get mainly the aquatics and citrus.

Bryan BT

This perfume is not for those who want something to project beast mode. This is just for those who want to smell clean / fresh . The opening reminds me of D&G light bleu eau intense for the first 15mins. Eventually drying down to an aromatic neat smelling scent. Reminds me of a swimming pool party vibe. A 200ml is worth the money. Do over spray this .

Edwin1998

Fresh citrus with a hint of spice in the opening.
Bit of a standard woody mid and base.
Lovely smell though. Glad I got it.

Luxfare

Sweet, but not a citrus sweet with the Cool water DNA lurking in the background. I paid $30 for the 125ml so cannot complain about the value, it's a decent gym scent but nothing groundbreaking. Longevity is poor, barely 2 hours from 5 sprays.

GoldenState

While smells nice and fresh for a summer Cologne its Longevity is a joke. I doesn't hold up to Un hour and your left without the scent. Huge red flag to me i wouldnt recommend it to anyone because of this, shame as I apreeciate og CW a lot and a new flanker got me excited, this one is definitely a no no, way better options both in CW line and literally everywhere.

ZighFi

I actually love this scent. But it would be good if it lasts a bit longer. Projection is really good. Solid 9/10

chakukan

beautiful scent, fresh and crisp and clean, I spray it on my clothes so that it last longer, great as a hair mist as well, no brainer goto LOVE it!

Otismo

This one is actually.. Pretty darn good
This is a very nice, very VERY aquatic fragrance, also it smells like Invinctus Aqua !
It's very cheap too.

It smells like a man that just came out of the shower.

Wear only on hot days

stephen.redeker

This is the dictionary definition of your standard summer scent in every way, including low performance. It's pleasant, but nothing new or interesting about this one at all. Smells like a clone of something else. It took three perfumers to make this generic, mish-mashed version of something you've already smelled a hundred times in the past decade or two. If you've never smelled anything like this, then you will love it. If you've been collecting and wearing these types of fragrances for decades, then this is just another one. It's a decent cheapie, in the same vein as something from Zara.

Marcel

A simple yet well balanced composition. Super aquatic, with some citrus which accentuate its freshness and, in the heart, green and woody notes to provide substance.

It honours the original CW, modernizing this classic with a more contemporary smell. But it's not a groundbreaking fragrance, as the original CW was. Wave is pretty generic, meaning that it doesn't have a strong "memory" factor. It just smells like too many aquatic freshies out there.

Still, it's a joy to wear during hot days, because you just feel super clean, and as refreshed as if you were just coming out of the swimming pool. Very uplifting indeed.

I can't imagine anyone hating this.

Dragzy

I never believed that a fragrance could really be called weak, just spray more. But this is a joke, 4711 has better longevity, it really is a shame as it smells pretty good.

Slava29

This is a very inexpensive knock off of Invictus Aqua that most don't realize is a Francis Kurkdjian fragrance. If you like Invictus Aqua, and I do, just load up on this cheapie before summer and you`ll be in great shape. A really nice under the radar fragrance for younger men, or anyone who likes sweet fragrances and likes to save money.

kalilax

Not a freshie by any stretch of the imagination. I agree with the reviewer below that it smells like soap, and definitely not the kind I'd want to smell like at all... The opening has a fleeting hint of the OG Cool Water, but very soon comes the avalanche of the nasty rest of it! What LukeS suggested about this becoming cloying in the summer is spot on.

I don't think I've smelled many frags that I hated, but Wave has secured a spot on that list for me. Going to reluctantly use it as bathroom spray; stunning how the efforts of 3 master perfumers failed so miserably!

I can easily recommend any Eternity Summer over this.

xvofmm992

fresh and clean like out of the shower, I think it smells like soap in my county.

WGG

Im at Geurnsey airport on business, not a lot happening, trundle round the duty free, all the usual stuff there. This is on offer. Basically the opening is great, classic aquatic freshie. But then some time later, the drydown is sour, so dissappointing. Luckily didn't cost much.
2.5/5

a_c_thompson

This is a subtle fragrance. I mean you could go crazy with sprays and it wouldn't be much of a big deal to your olfactory. I think because it just smells clean and fresh. There's no particular notes that stand out. But, in my experience, it's gonna be pleasant to the people you encounter.
If you're looking for something that isn't loud, and you just want a nice subtle clean scent, give this a try.

james4sk8

This is such an amazing fragrance and a safe blind buy! If you are an owner of legend spirit this would be kind of a redundant and unneeded purchase tbh. Upon initial spray you get a blast of slightly salty sea notes and fresh squeezed sweet grapefruit. It is a mass pleaser and the dry down is pretty much identical to legend spirit. This does not have the bubble gum opening like spirit but once the fragrance drys down it smells about the same. If you need a new summer fragrance look no further this is great. 8/10 rating

Sullii

Longevity is so bad unfortunately, the smell is fantasic

sergiuniculescu

@thatbloke, 8 sprays are for real strong winter fragrances. This is more like 50 sprays with reapplying every 2 - 3 hours.

thatbloke

Really nice summer day-time freshie let down by weak performance. Definitely get the comparison to OG Invictus Acqua but this has a fruitier opening with that sparkling grapefruit note. Sadly performance is dreadful for me. Hands down the worst performer of the many fragrances I own. I can do 8 sprays of this, including on clothes and be struggling to detect it an hour later. Real shame, as if this performed, this would have the potential to be a real favourite.

johnjubal1958

A really nice well balanced fragrance with a touch of the original DNA in it. Diffinately a last Spring, Summer early Autumn scent that performs better in the warmer weather. The smell is really plesant and mor-ish and the longevity and projection are about average. I have a travel spray that I top up with so I can reapply when needed through the day if I'm out and about. This is an excellent flanker with its aquatic touch and Davidoff signiture and I don't hesitate in giving this an 8 out of 10 that is well deserved. If you haven't already, go on and treat yourself to this one, it won't burn a hole in your pocket either!

calculus314

I always appreciate the Cool Water flankers because they stay true to their original form.
This version reminds me of something different every time I smell it. It’s still Cool Water but with a “Bleu” twist.
Definitely worth a buy if you’re a Cool Water fan.

impala45

So far I've had good luck with the Cool Water flankers. I love Summer Fizz and Caribbean Summer. Of the three, Wave, would be my least favorite. It's still a fine fragrance nonetheless. Like Caribbean Summer, Wave has a lot going initially --sweeter than the others, fruity, clean. But then it settles for sweet and vanilla and smells familiar, not Cool Water familiar at all, but it did remind me of Legend Spirit. Like the rest of the Cool Water flankers it has no sillage and no longevity, but it's such a fun fragrance to smell.

Bigmike650

Really nice fresh fragrance. Smells like Invictus Aqua but less sweet. Very inexpensive as well. I bought a 4.2 oz bottle for $18 😂👌🏽 I wear this mainly in the summer for the gym, and for running quick errands. Lasts a decent amount of time on my skin for a fresh fragrance👍🏽

Bfish88

I took a chance on this from TLTG Reviews on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised by the all around scent and quality of this one in reflection to the price point. I get that invictus aqua type of DNA and it really has a moderate performance which is all I can ask for. I think it's a wonderful modern freeshie that's worth checking out. I enjoy it every time I wear it! My wife always asks what I'm wearing with this one, in a good way!

m.t.alkawa

In terms of smell, it definitely is close to Invictus and Legend Spirit, yet this has more to it than that. I don't claim that it's a sophisticated scent but it for sure has more to it than just an Aquatic marine salty scent. The scent develops after the first 30 minutes into something smoother less sharp and round, and I can definitely smell something floral in it although it's not listed, in the heart I can smell wiffs of jasmine maybe and the dry down in my opinion has the same DNA of the original cool water, but flatter maybe and more synthetic yet appealing. The opening which appeals to the most is my least favorite part of the development, the heart and the dry down is good, especially for the price considering that it's lasts well for a morning scent.

parahippocampal gyrus

This is a... fine aquatic? I definitely prefer it to something like Nautica Blue, with its chemical saltiness, and I appreciate that it's much more difficult to overuse, but it's a bit of a gray man in terms of this category, perhaps owing to its category-defining lineage. It feels like design by committee. Sea notes and sandalwood, but not much in the way of pepper, for me. This is very inexpensive, however, and I am content to throw it in my gym bag or the like.

lamar1970

This is an ok flanker for Cool Water, but it's nothing special. It supposedly smells like Invictus Aqua. I've never smelled that so I can't say, but it does smell just like Zara's Seoul Summer. I have both and I wish I hadn't purchased Cool Water Wave because it only lasts on my skin maybe two hours, if that. The Zara lasts at least 6 hours. It's redundant to have both but if I had to get rid of one, it would be Cool Water Wave since the performance is so bad on my skin. I give it an overall rating of 3/10.

LukeS

In my pursuit of a comparable substitute to Invictus Aqua OG, I crossed paths with Cool Water Wave. After not finding exactly what I was searching for in Legend Spirit and Hawas, I was hopeful with this one. Wave shares similar notes with Aqua OG, and one of the perfumers behind this fragrance is Francis Kurkdjian.

As we start things off, I'm happy to report that the openings are nearly identical. Wave and Aqua OG both have that spicy aquatic scent in the top, and I was surprised to find that Wave comes very close to giving off the white floral vibe that Aqua OG has. As the mid notes start to come in, everything blends together to give off this synthetic ambergris scent (without ambergris being a note) that Aqua OG is known for. So far, so good.

Unfortunately, once the top notes fade away and the mid notes of birch leaf and juniper start to become more prominent, this aquatic summer freshie takes a U-turn towards the forest and becomes a green fragrance. As Wave dries down, the patchouli and sandalwood kick in,
which cements Wave even more so as an aromatic green scent.

Surprisingly, I find Wave to be a little cloying in the heat, so I would recommend wearing this in the warmer months of Spring and Fall. For the price though, Cool Water Wave is actually quite a nice fragrance but, apart from the opening, it does not resemble Invictus Aqua OG.

sp00kie

I have over 100 fragrances including the original Cool Water, Cool Water Intense, Invictus Aqua and Bvlgari Aqva Atlantiqve and this is my favourite summer scent. There's just something about it that reminds me of the isolated Australian beaches of my childhood. It would be nice if it lasted longer but I have the 200ml size and two backups costing me a grand total of 60 euros. I just respray every few hours. When I'm home I will spray it on my furniture, and my sheets.

I just love the feeling of getting whiffs of it as I'm moving around the house. It's uplifting and relaxing and cool.

Buy a big bottle of this for summer. The only thing you will regret about buying this is if it runs out before the summer ends.

Kupcake84

To me, this is perfect for a summer vacation, as it is very pleasing with the water and citrus notes but deep enough with the pepper, patchouli and woody notes to not be boring. Puts a smile on my face everytime I use it!

piyux

Davidoff Cool Water Wave Men EDT opens with a soft projection of citrus, marine, and spicy accords. The opening is fresh, salty, natural, pleasant but faint. The grapefruit is the citrus accord, slightly sweet, and bitter; the Sichuan pepper is a soft but noticeable note, not as strong as black pepper, closer to white pepper; the sea notes bring a breeze, salty and oceanic accord. As the fragrance commences to dry-down, the juniper and birch create a fresh woody note. The patchouli and sandalwood are very faint green and sweet touches, respectively, but not prominent. The most noticeable opening to dry-down changes is the citrus note is prominent during the opening but it significantly dissipates as the fragrance enters the dry-down leaving the salty sea notes and the juniper lead the fragrance. Once Cool Water Wave Men EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a slightly sweet, salty marine, and juniper fragrance with mild pepper and grapefruit accords. The fragrance feels airy, bitter, breeze, casual, diluted, diurnal, faint, fresh, marine, masculine, oceanic, playful, refreshing, salty, sporty, slightly sweet, weak, white, and pleasant.

fisken23

Love this one! Went through a 40 ml bottle and bought a 200 ml. It is that good! Everyone around me seems to like it. And I mean, what’s not to like...? There are many frags you can choose from, but I reach for this more and more in the summer. Medium projection and sillage, but good for a cheapie I must say.

JakHus

I bought a 200ml bottle of this fragrance as the price was so good. I've just ordered another 2 bottles of the 200ml because it's goooooood. It opens with a citrus bust that brightens the room and slowly mellow out to the aquatic woody notes.

Projection is moderate for about the first hour then it sits on the skin for about 3 to 4 hours but it won't matter. Just reapply.

jpierce1

I have owned this fragrance for over a year now. At first spray I was not too impressed. I then sat on the couch and did work on a hot day with the fan in my living room turning. After about 30 minutes I started to get the most lovely wafts and didn't think it was my cologne but maybe a candle or something else in the room. After about an hour of enjoying the scent I moved my arm and picked up a strong waft. I feel in love with this stuff. It works its magic in the dry down and when you start to heat up. On my skin it works so good. I am not a fan of the original. I like the scent but there is a note that I do not like and eventually I need to wash it off. This release got rid of that note and I will never be without during the summer as long as its available. At one point I had close to 200 fragrances (designer and Niche). I had my wife go though them to find her favorites. This was in her top 5. Just not much to hate, its not the most complex fragrance but its non offensive and has a great DNA as you can smell some of the traits of the old cool water hidden in the background. Longevity on me is good and sillage is good enough.

Tazahr

This is excellent fragrance for what it is.

fantastic smell, complete getter, super refreshing, cheap but good quality.

It is very fruity but light and more masculine, better rounded compared to invictus or montblanc legend spirit and the marine note is better done and more prominent. still cool water DNA is present.

solid release and recommended.

filhomme

This is a freshie acuatic to my nose very similar to Puig Aqua Quorum. At the begin this remind me those shampoo smell but in a good way. This is my first impression of around half hour of this scent on my skin. The projection at the moment is moderate with one spray. Lets see whats happen later.

Coffee King

Definitely get the vibe to Invictus Aqua, the current formulation that is. This is pretty good, and different to the original, four to five hours longevity. It's a mix of sweet citrus and aquatic notes,it's very nice. I like that it's different to the original.

ccwicks

I do understand what you mean killdec with the migraine issue.

killdec

I have tested this fragrance twice (the second time with a mind to buy), I enjoyed the fresh aqua scent a lot and was impressed with the longevity, but unfortunately one of the ingredients doesn't agree with me and gives me quite a severe migraine. So no matter how much I enjoy the smell I just can't use it. 3.5/5

Criglett Clussnum

It's not to heavy or dense. It's a very good watery fragrance and this is the way an aquatic should be done. The smell is very nice and has a different character than the original. I like this one better but I know the original Cool Water is a classic. This is perfect to wear in the summer or in warm climates. I really like the balance and composition of this. I would buy another bottle. I give this a 9.2/10

Vapor Trail

I have no strong opinion on this fragrance other than a mild "like" -- IMO, there are plenty of other better fresh fragrances out there -- but it smells nothing like Invictus Aqua. Not sure where that comparison is coming from.

SmellyPanda

Well, I tried this at the shop today, it was about 30 degrees Celsius, cloudy, not humid, I put 2 sprays on each arm.

Initially it smelt very citrusy, spicy and bitter. Nothing like the original Cool Water or any of its flankers but a pleasant smell. Within 20 minutes it dried down and all I could smell was the Sichuan Pepper when I touched my nose to my arm.

Performance is extremely poor on this one guys. I wouldn't recommend buying this at all.

I tried this in a shopping mall and there is a promo that you can have this for free if you buy any bottle of their perfume. After testing the scent, I understood why they made this a freebie. This is very far from the classic Cool Water that we loved. You would think that this is a flanker of the classic one, but only in name. It is more soapy than fruity but greenish and with traces of the sweet invictus but ironically there is no depth as compared to the classic scent. Young ones who hated the classic scent may probably love this. But for me it's an average fragrance.

Sort of smells like a mix of Montblanc Legend Spirit or Invictus Aqua with John Varvatos Artisan Blu or Artisan Acqua.

However it doesn't have the depth or quality level of any of the aforementioned fragrances, which is its main downfall. It smells fairly cheap. The dry down is a typical woody-spicy with very light musk, similar to something like Versace Man Eau Fraiche. You've smelled this type of scent many times. Soapy as well.

I bought a 1.3oz on eBay for $7 so one can't really complain about that...

It's a nice fragrance, but you can safely pass without worry.

fanzypants

I went to the store to see if I could get a sweeter aquatic that worked on my skin and based on the fragrantica reviews I thought something in the invictus aqua/legend spirit family would be nice. Given that both Paco Rabanne and Mont Blanc fragrances give me allergic reactions (my signature used to be legend intense), I was hoping for Davidoff Wave to save the day. It didn't.

I've finished a bottle of Cool Water (my second ever cologne), a bottle of Zino, a bottle of Echo, and a bottle of hot water so you could say I am a Davidoff fan. I even wear the Game from time to time. I wasn't a fan of Cool Water Deep or Champion. Similarly, Cool Water Wave is just boring. It's sweet, it's fresh, and kinda sterile - where's the vigor and the excitement? It's supposed to have Juniper and (chili) pepper and Patchouli - Not to my nose? (Hugo Red does this way better)

This opens up with sweet citrus, and dries down to aquatic woods. It's not near the quality of fragrance to me as Legend Spirit which I think is my favourite in my family. That being said, I'll stick with my summer sweets such as Sauvage, Dylan Blue, Dior Homme Eau, and Ideal Cologne. Cool Water Wave? Wave Goodbye

AMajeedQT

Look at that cool, sea-blue bottle with an orange line in the middle. So eye-pleasing!
Look at the perfumers, Francis Kurkdjian was part of this!

Such a shame this is just a variation of Cool Water that is a "like" at best.

Why are they adding juniper & birch to an aquatic fragrance?!
Why are you making it less aquatic?!

I came looking for an aquatic, maybe a little sweet, a little fruity scent for hot weather but none of that exists in CW Wave.

Meh.

Not a bad scent but I'm very disappointed.

"Like" & pass.

Raysmooth

I see why some people would say this smells like invictus or invictus aqua but honestly this smells better than both,it only has the same vibe as invictus aqua but this is cleaner and blended much better than invictus aqua,it has a dylan blue type of vibe, this fragrance has became my signature scent cause it last 7 plus hours and the scent smells great from the time u spray til its gone,u can wear this casual,to work,to outings,to the club,to the beach, very versatile.the grapefruit note is priceless, forget invictus aqua 2016 and 2018 buy this u will be surprised at how good it smells and lasts

Raysmooth

To my nose this smells like invictus aqua 2018 mixed with Dylan blue with a tad of original cool water, this is a amazing cheapie,i thought nautica voyage was the best cheapie til I smelled this,I get 7 hours which makes this a perfect blind buy,i rate this a 9 out 10 based on the price.......peace

syed suhaib

Hey,
Davidoff Cool Water Wave, a name which is very interesting and the bottle also looks really appealing.
Blind bought the perfume by watching some youtube reviews was searching for a freshy for this summer. IMO i didn't liked the scent at first it reminded of that generic DNA Invictus, Hawas etc.
But then this growed on me a very calming and appealing scent Aquatic citrusy salty-sweet. Which projects really well for 2-3 hour and then makes a scent bubble around you for the rest part, I got 7-8 hours of longevity from it which is really good for a fresh scent.
A huge compliment getter, One can blind buy it I would give it a 7 out of 10 for this scent.

Thanyou for reading my review.

zhiang0113

A salty-sweet refreshing fragrance with bursts of grapefruit. Less saccharine than Montblanc Legend Spirit due to the sea spray notes. Wish projection was better though...

Savatage79

Imho smells nothing like Invictus Aqua. I absolutely love this little citrus blast of freshness and overall zinginess. I was totally surprised when I received it how much I really love this. It actually projects and performs pretty damn well which is a nice plus. Quickly one of my favorite grab and go sprays, I'll be wearing this alot as well this summer on days I'm just hanging around the pool and what not. Great cheapy pickup, love it

soned

It amazes me how the same people that love PR Invictus Aqua, may hate this one. This is exactly the same scent, with less projection. Shows you that many people like scents, based more on what’s barns is it, and not the actual scent. I also don’t understand the longevity issue, this one lasts 8 hours minimum on my skin. Projects less than PR Invictus Aqua, no doubt, but lasts the same easily. If you like those kind of marine sweet scents, then this one is for you. I got a 200ml bottle for $27.....check the price on Invictus Aqua, and it’s a no brainer. Trust me, this is a good one, don’t believe the hate!!!!.

ccwicks

Very nice smell maybe not original but very nice none the less.

Scentpunk81

I actually love this scent. Reminds me of the beach with a fruity opening and woodsy sea water dry down Longevity is mediocre and projects ok for the first hour or two depending on how many sprays you use then after it’s just pretty much a skin scent. I recommend blind buying it. I actually got this as a gift and immediately loved it at first sniff. Definitely doesn’t smell like the original cool water. Just reminds of beach balls, sea shells and the ocean very clean and refreshing.

Always amazes me when supposedly master perfumers like Kurkdjian and Lie produce sad clones of existing fragrances for designer houses. This is nothing more than a light version of Invictus Aqua.
What's the point of having three perfumers collaborate just to create a duplicate? Did it really take all three of them to figure out how to clone a fragrance that has already been decently cloned by other houses? Or is the Davidoff company at fault?
By no means does it smell bad. The problem is that it's been done before. A real shame after what Lie and Jacques did for Ocean Extreme a few years back, which in my opinion remains the best Cool Water flanker to date.

jacek.drewnowski

Today I stopped liking it. I started loving it.
Having blind bought it on a good offer some time ago, I have used it a couple of times. A Cool Water flanker, definitely more fruity in the opening than others, typically mediocre longevity, what's not to like? Never berfore did I wear it for a whole day, treating it more as a good morning and then showering it off, quite sure there was nothing left of it anyway.
Today I have finally experienced the drydown... which is close to the skin, but oh my God, I have never smelled anything that would've been such a natural rendition of the sea smell. I mean the smell of your skin after having a swim in the sea and letting your skin dry whithout taking a shower.
In the CW Wave drydown I get the exact scent of seawater let to dry on my skin. I'm just happy I can get this loveable smell far away from the sea. I love it. I have used and still use many different perfumes - among them many "marine" fragrances - and none of them has given me such a realistic feeling of being some time after swiming in the sea as has CW Wave in the drydown.

Fendy1

In comparison with the Cool Water Pacific Summer flanker, when tested in the store, this one seemed to have a fruity note. I would recommend this one for a younger or more charismatic person. Personally, I prefer the Cool Water Pacific Summer flanker.

GRAF

I don't like the original but I can wear this Wave. This is a safe manly scent with great versatility for warm weather. Dominant notes are sea, juniper and grapefruit. With that order. Moderate performance overall.

Verka81

This is a soft sweet scent. Grapefruit and patchouli play well together making this fragrance light and pleasant. The sillage is moderate. I don't think it's a very memorable scent because it lacks individuality and zest. However by the mysterious work of its simple ingredients Wave reminds me of the happy and careless mornings in my late Grandpa's house. And that makes me want to have another vial of this.

AndySmellsGreat

Hello all,

I've recently joined and cycled thru what I'm wearing today to Cool Water Wave.

I grew up as a young adult wearing Cool Water and even though my tastes have evolved I still wear it amongst my 70 odd perfumes. I bought Wave as an I'm duty free shopping so I must buy a cheap perfume thingy and this was the only perfume I liked.

I enjoy it as one of my current go to fresh aquatics however it is if I am honest it is on the weak side.

I've read some interesting reviews here but like most I find it lasts at best two hours before it becomes a skin scent (which I enjoy) so for me this again as per my review for Steel Water more of a personal scent rather than dressing to impress.

The reviews saying it smells like soap is weird in itself. To me it could only It only smell like a mild lavender soap - what soap do they mean? I don't get the comparison - soaps have many different smells.

I find the description with Juniper, grapefruit, szechuan pepper etc technically correct (on the first spray) however other than the juniper everything else is fairly faint (unless you push your nose into your skin - which I do lol) and classing it as a woody is a stretch. Really the mix and faintness leaves it realistically hard to say its anything in particular in the dry down.

Infact I would describe the first 5-15 min as a fresh burst of citrus aquatic and faint lavender. on the dry down it comes across as slightly earthy and fresh. Again over analysing and putting your nose close it contains some citrus and it seems to vary between grapefruit, tangerine and bergamot - its so faint I couldn't tell at any given moment. There may technically be pepper but it comes across as faint patchouli and or faint lavender to me regardless of what oil was used for scent.

SO, in summary, to me its a nice safe mix up from the usual but not something I'll miss when there are other good products out there especially for similar money and which are better constructed.

Cheers

Ivanus

Fragrance -Cool Water Wave Davidoff
Bottle from - 2017

He's got that marine vibe going on.
Cool Water Wave is a fresh, aquatic and a bit spicy interpretation of grapefruit with a nice touch of pepper and with a wisper of juniper and sandalwood. The best part of this fragrance is the opening.I wish it would last longer.

Longevity - 6/10(6+ hours)
Silage/Projection - 6,5/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 1-2 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent's evolution)
Weather -best in spring and summer
Age - 18+
Compliments - 7/10
Scent - 7/10

Main notes according to me -
marine accord,grapefruit,spices,pepper,juniper.

The drydown is woody and I get some -sandalwood,fruitiness,spices and a hint of patchouli.

Emotions -relax,casual,fresh,marine vibe,positive.

Occasion -perfect for casual activities, college and office.

Cool Water Wave is a safe choice for everyday wear.

atyzer

Very good for office and perfect casual summer frag. Inoffensive, clean, fresh with good longevity. This one actually is great to use after shower to feel positive and energetic as citrus gives great vibe.

lovetribe

cool water and fresh soap.wow.fantastic. no similar to invictus. no too much citrus.much marine. excellent performance. is a winner.8/10

TheFragrantPrince

After soaking in a tub of milk and honey for exactly 48 hours, I air dry for 17.5 minutes then I lightly spritz myself from head to toe with this. It's absolutely magical. As a matter of fact, your bath is not complete unless you spray this on afterwards. I smelled this in Amsterdam and bought a bottle on the spot. The sales associate tried to steer me towards something else but I refused!

Walking around in my robe putting on airs and smelling like this = heaven.

ffanatic

Literally smells like soap. Has to be the cleanest soap fragrance out there. If Prada is luxury soap, then this is fresh soap.

A bit woody towards the drydown, starts getting similar with Invictus or Azzaro Wanted except less synthetic and really well blended.

I like it and I ordered it. For the price, it's worth it. Better than Nautica Voyage imo, more character.

alabangcute

If you want to love the classic Cool Water then get this variant since the dna of the original is still there but muted so as not to be too overpowering. On paper, it smelled like liquid detergent and or fabric conditioner with a light touch of the original Cool Water. I dunno whether to like this one or just go for my original plan to get Uomo by Ferragamo. LOL.

Tomkervin05

I try it today and boom i like it a lot more than the original cool water this one is more aquatic and lemon vibe than the original i think this one is well balance than the original cool water too the green note is still there but not over powering all the note as i said more balance and better smell

nightcutter

This reminds of another fragrance. I'm not 100% sure but it might Quasar by Del Pozo. Performance from my initial test is poor but I will try it again.

Randyman

Today I tried 4 perfumes.

Cool Water Original
The Game
Cool Water Wave
Moschino Uomo

I wanted something for hot days and guess what...

I bought Wave. Excellent performance, nice sillage, I washed my hand after use and the smell was there.

Nothing like original cool water, which is reformulated and kinda oldie.. 9/10 for my tastes.

lespritz.1

Huffed this in a Shopper's Drug Mart. Pondered it but it didn't captivate me a whole lot TBH. I like it better than enough of the cool water flankers...this seems again, too close to the original...and this time, painfully mild. Pass!

Edit: Just bought this today for $19.99 for a 40ml(down to $9.99 with my optimum points :) )...why does no one say this smells like Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme? They both share sandalwood, but is that enough to make this much difference? This could legit be a summer flanker o' it. Pleasant, and will be good to take 'cause it's a l'il size.

MjrS

I won't be as emotional as MrHonest in his review, but in general I have to agree with him. This is probably one of the most disappointing frags of the year.

Really, with that set of notes one could have expected something more than this.
Like I said in my review of Davidoff Horizon, times of greatness have definitely passed for Davidoff house.

MrHonest

I'll be brief - and brutally honest.

Bought myself a small 40mL bottle on a whim and the INSTANT I sprayed it on my arm, I was like...DARN. This smells like MontBlanc Legend Spirit. Or possibly Invictus. Or maybe both. You know what I mean - that sweet, fruity, spicy sea smell that's apparently SOOOOO popular these days.

After about 5 minutes, I could detect a little Cool Water in there, maybe like 20%, but the rest was just terrible. Yeah, you can tell I don't like Invictus much.

Whatever. I left it on my arm and after about 20 minutes, the stuff started to project BIG TIME. Luckily, that only lasted for about an hour, before it fizzled out and became a skin scent.

Shortly after, I stopped by my brother's house with a "surprise gift". LOL. His wife likes Legend Spirit, so it's very likely she'll like this one.

So blind buyers BEWARE. This is NOWHERE NEAR Cool Water in the smell department. And the fact that it hit the bargain bin nearly the same month it was released is astounding. Or maybe it's a marketing ploy. I dunno. #UberFAIL?

Rorshach1004

Tried it today, in boots. My reactions: Fruity opening, a bit surprising, doesn't smell at all like the original, but give it five minutes, and then the sea notes come through. I guess they are going for a more 'youthful' feel with this one, but to my nose I prefer the original, and it's nowhere near as good as my favourite in the line, that being Night Dive. It has some longevity to it though, as I'm sniffing my hand now, four hours after application, and on a stonking hot day, and I can still smell the salty sea notes that can only be Cool Water. I'm not a fan of the new opening, but the dry-down remains the same. It's different, but the same, and that opening might appeal to some, but not to me. It's too fruity, too girly, but I'm a 44 year old bloke, so I can't possibly be in the target demographic for this one.

Forget Freeman

Tried today at an airport, it's a solid fresh fruity fragrance but is pretty much a generic "freshie". Does not smell like the original to me, I agree with Cerulean's review, I pick up similarities with Aqua Quorum as well.

Probably a good bet for a gift as it is a good fresh fragrance that is unlikely to offend anyone.

antonpan

Unfortunately, this is another one (number 1000?) Invictus clone. Nothing to add.

MSack

Looks like 20 Davidoff employees went online and selected "Love" instead of "Like" or "Dislike". Then they selected "Very Long Lasting" instead of either "Poor" or "Weak" for longevity. Then for Silage they selected "Enormous" instead of rightfully selecting either "Soft" or "Moderate". So other than this fragrance being nothing special with no longevity and poor silage and an overall rating that is about 2 points too high, I believe they hit the mark with this fragrance. Pass on this one!

P.S, You can tell the ratings have been faked because they all selected this to be a WINTER Fragrance. lol. With sea notes and it being named Cool Water Wave.

groover

I can agree with the reviewer below
this is a sweet and fresh fruity
fragrance, not to shabby but i have
smelled similar before so i dont find
it very unik in any way, night dive is
still my favorite from the line.

Cerulean

★★

Well, I don't have much to say.

A sweet and fresh scent similar to Invictus Aqua and the Kenzo Homme EDP flanker.

Why is this formula copied so much? It really is not that appealing and it certainly doesn't work that well for the summer as it may get cloying with heat.

I am disappointed, expected more from Antoine Lie and Kurkdjian.

Don't hate me for this review, go and try it out... and then try it alongside Invictus Aqua and Kenzo Homme EDP.

Go buy Aqua Quorum instead it does the same job only better with better longevity.

ghent32

So I went to Macys yesterday and I tried this and then bought it. My first ever "Cool Water" purchase.

I had interest in this one mainly because I follow all of the creations done by MFK.

I can tell you that this one smells quite nice - I don't get anything synthetic out of it. It's very fresh and actually somewhat unique - this fragrance doesn't remind me of anything else and that's fairly impressive for a redundant aquatic - but that's the magic of Kurkdjian - he's outstanding, especially with fresh frags.

I got about 5-6 hours from this and about 1-2 hours of solid projection - for an aquatic, I'll take that every time. The bottle is also kinda nice.

This is one of the better releases from Davidoff in a while. I also heard that Night Dive was fairly solid.

As far as BUY, TRY or PASS - I definitely recommend a TRY on this one. As far as aquatics go, it's solid.

ghent32

I'm calling on the Administrators of Fragrantica to look into doing something about these "bots" who keep distorting the ratings on new releases.

I look forward to trying this just bcuz of Kurkdjian.

sniffmaster

22 love votes for something isn't been released yet... good going guys, keep them coming.

Adel750

it Actually smells really good better than the original cool water! Very fresh aquatic scent. Without the chemical smell like the original cool water. This is deff a versatile cologne can be worn summer and winter day and night in my opinion.

afraafra

Love to try this. By Kurkdjian and long lasting fresh..

istvan.buda.779

Best aventus clone to date ?

TheGoodfellaANDSmeller

I can't believe it. According to the ratings this is going to be the most heavy and long lastig fresh fragrance ever...pls do not troll ppl, at least write a review if u can prove it...seriously!

gregk

I guess there is no way to escape the early review trolls..

FlexYoFace

Apparently this smells like patchouli according to the 12 people who say this is common with Angel by Mugler. Rofl.. Ass hats.
