Étoile
Overall: 6/10
Projection: 6/10
Longevity: 5/10
Sillage: 4/10
Comments:
This white floral has some fun top notes like apple and ginger which I enjoy. However, the longevity definitely suffers. If this perfume had more staying power, I would rate it higher.

tylerthecreator

citrus and white florals with a cedar base to round it out. it’s a non offensive perfume good for every day/casual wear. i have the perfume (metal can) version and it lasts ~7 hours on me with decent sillage. marketed for women but honestly it’s unisex like tbh it’s floral citrus

saho93

Definitely like D&G Light Blue and somewhat like Moschino I Love Love.

Pretty soft citrus and apple fruit on white flowers and musk. Not sure I detect ginger.

It’s very pleasant.

annema

Looks like I never reviewed my beloved bottle of Étoile. This is much better than Light Blue. And way cheaper. Better longevity, more energizing, more fresh. Actually Étoile is what Light Blue should have been. You wear that you feel like you're fleeting around. The ginger note adds the perfect touch of spiciness that this fragrance needs to differentiate itself from the others "fresh lemon" scents out there. It's labelled as a "woman" perfume but really this is unisex.

Lilium86

I had the pleasure of visiting a Fragonard factory in France, and at the end of the tour, they let us try various fragrances. I was very impressed by this one; as soon as I smelled it, it immediately reminded me of Light Blue. It doesn't last for a very long time on the skin, but the cedar note pleasantly lingered.

Coalita

Very, very beautiful, light and bright, but unfortunately very low projection.

RabbetteBleu

I wear this one when I want to feel put together, ladylike, and confident. It's fresh, light hearted, but classy. This isn't a little girl floral. This is grown up, clean, gentle, "with it" friendly and a safe bet for going out in public.

Air of Grace

Don’t like ginger in my scents , prefer to eat it 😁
This comes up as too citrusy on my skin

My dentist and I, we share love for Fragonard. Quality at this price range, what is not to like?
Well, she wears Étoile as everyday freshie. I smell the resemblence to Light Blue, but as a more natural and higher quality version. Light Blue has a slight chemical aftertaste like aspartame in diet sodas. With IFRA (such a bad word!) restrictions and general greed in designer world of fragrance, that aftertaste is more present every day.
Étoile is wasted on my skin, I never get that juicy apple with a hint of ginger and creamy white flowers, that smell more like magnolia in full bloom to me. I get that on paper straps or clothes. I truly love it, it's gorgeous.
Maybe edp or perfume concentration would behave better on me.

Remmel

Etoile is a very clean, fresh scent. To me, it almost smells like a citrus-scented laundry detergent in a good way. Eventually, the lemon-apple combo in the beginning fades to gentle white florals. With how light and airy this fragrance is, it lasts a long time though that may be just because I have it in the parfum concentration. Very happy smell, perfect for hot summer days when you need something refreshing.

fragrances-fanatic

The opening smells JUST like Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue with a little bit of apple. But it quickly shifts away from smelling like Light Blue, and you get the floral and musk. As it wears, it's a fresh-apple-floral-musk combo. I have it in the Parfum (comes in a metal spray bottle) as well as a 5ml EDT.

The upside to the Parfum is that all the notes really do play TOGETHER - meaning you can smell all the elements at once. So many fragrances smell one way when you first spray it, and totally different after 15-30 minutes. If that frustrates you and you wish you could hold all the elements of the fragrance together at once, I recommend the Fragonard Parfum formulations because they're much truer to the notes.

All in all, Etoile is a nice, fresh, everyday fragrance for any age.

eileensheats

This is a lovely fresh scent for everyday. I have seen a lot of reviews that say that this is very similar to D&G Light Blue, so I got a sample of that to compare. It is very similar, but with D&G Light Blue I get a whiff of very artificial lemon right at the opening that this fragrance doesn't have. This strikes me as similar to D&G but made with higher quality ingredients and honestly a classier scent. It is also quite similar to CDG Dot.

I have the perfume version of Etoile. This is just like Light Blue but with a touch of white floral added to it. It opens fresh- great for those warm summer days. Zingy and bright! On me it lasts all day and is perfect for the office and days off. It's really light and fresh... one of my favorites

eilouise

It's fresh, citrus, and elevating. A great mood lifter when you're feeling dragged down by the summer heat.

margrietmae

Light blue was never a fragrance I wore because aquatics don't go with my body chemistry. Etoile does work. So for anyone else in the same boat, you might want to give this a try as well.

nitschevo

I bought this in Paris at one of the Fragonard stores :) Always wanted to go and had a blast browsing the store!

While Etoile might not be the most original composition from the house it is beautiful nonetheless. I agree with previous reviewers who mention the quality and natural smelling notes. Etoile is fun, uplifting and elegant. I have the perfume concentration and it truly sparkles and shines! The top notes in the beginning are like a bucket of ice on a hot summer's day, lovely.

To the comparisons: I owned a dozens bottles of Light Blue since it came out. As others have stated - it has changed a lot and I was always torn whether to buy again or not. I love the style of the fragrance so I was quite desperate to find something similar (Versace and Moschino couldn't convince 100%). Etoile fills that void beautifully, very happy to have found it!

Now if I could only find a replacement for Acqua di Gio...!

overtsaceie

When compare to other perfumes that have same note or scent. This one is an original and very long lasting.

Just buy it!!!

If you happen to be in Paris, go to Fragonard Musee de Parfum at 9 Rue Scribe (9th arrondissement). This is a no entrance fee perfume museum with a guided tour. If you’re into fragrances, this is a must!!! At the end of the tour, they would let you try samples of their parfums. Yes, PARFUM!! Not EDP, not EDT. This is how I discovered Etoile (sorry Light Blue, but this is so much better). Do join the tour, you might discover your signature like I did.

SmellSpell

Etoile to me awaken my senses and makes me feel happy, energized and confident. its a perfume thats perfect for my work mode. I’m reviewing this based on the gold aluminum parfum bottle. I got my first 30ml bottle as a present and i was hooked after the first smell. Then later I’ve got a chance to go to Paris, grabbed 3 more bottles back home(together with a few bottles of belle cherie). I plan to use this parfum for long!

Annemarie

I'm reviewing the parfum concentration, in the gold bottle. Yes, Etoile is very similar to Light Blue. However, to me Etoile smells a little darker, and the citrus less sparkly and juicy at opening. The overall effect in Etoile is a perfume that is denser and less transparent than Light Blue, and perhaps more natural smelling. The ginger note in Etoile is also a point of difference. Etoile and Light Blue are both wonderful but I have an affection for Etoile because I was lucky enough to bring some back as a souvenir of a trip from Paris.

ewalkzz

Spicy and fresh. I love the ginger in it. It's kind of like D&G Light Blue with more florals. Fresh and office appropriate for sure.

I was ready to make this my go-to office scent but it doesn't last very long and my boyfriend thinks it's meh. He loves D&G Light Blue Intense though, which I find weird. I think he just doesn't like a very floral perfume.

It's lovely but fleeting. If you are in Paris, why not?

TatyanaS

I didn't really enjoy the freshness of Étoile in the beginning but definitely liked the smell of lily-of-the-valley that is there almost instantly after applying the perfume. I think it's a wonderful scent for springtime - light, charming, and feminine.

joybee88

I don't remember if I ever left a comment about this perfume because I have had a bottle for a long time. It's one of my wardrobe staples, along with Chloe EDP and my black outfits. It's a very nice fresh scent for summer, or any other time when I'm nauseated by sweet or heavy perfumes. Etoile is quite similar to Light Blue but smells more natural. In that vein it's also a bit similar to Moschino Cheap n Chic (the one with the blue bottle and Lily Cole ad), but less sweet. All in all Etoile is well balanced for a fresh citrusy perfume, great for office/school environment, and good value for money.

What I like:
Aqua perfume for woman.

What I don't like:
Save perfume, not bold.

vega_012

From the first moment I dabbed it on, Etoile reminded me of somewhere I had been before. It took me a little while to place it, but in the summer of 2009 I traveled to Budapest and Vienna for a two week study trip while attending a local university. I brought with me a bottle of Dove's Grapefruit Lemongrass spray, and body wash. It is remarkable how similar Fragonard's Etoile is to the former. I'm not complaining, I liked the freshness of the Dove scent and was sad when I could no longer find it in local stores. Without doubt, Etoile is more sophisticated with its lily of the valley and jasmine notes. It's those citrus, apple, ginger top notes that really draw a parallel with the dove scent. It certainly transported me, though, to the bricked streets of Vienna, and this beautiful, peaceful church in Székesfehérvár, Hungary.

Such is the magic of scent, an olfactory time machine taking us back to a specific moment, feeling, and time. What was it Marcel Proust wrote, "... after the things are broken and scattered, taste and smell alone, more fragile but more enduring, more unsubstantial, more persistent, more faithful, remain poised a long time..."

I received a miniature of Etoile as a gift along with two other miniatures from the same company. A friend of mine brought it back to me from Paris. It was a wonderful surprise, and I have been enjoying my scented time travel today. I have enjoyed it so much, I will likely purchase this one.

susanmsuk

A beautiful, fresh fragrance that seems to suit the early spring sunshine. I haven't smelled Light Blue for years, but didn't care for it at that time so gave the bottle away. This is slightly different. I would say that Etoile is rather refined and extremely fresh, but without that synthetic fresh note that appears in many modern fragrances.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR ETOILE DU SUD

Today, I had the rare opportunity to sample this beautiful scent in the vintage parfum (15ml, gold aluminum canister). There was a small amount of evaporation, and the color a dark rose, however this may be normal. The perfume was in top notch condition. It is an effusive floral of the highest caliber. Exquisitely feminine, with Hyacinth, Lilac, Lily of the Valley and Ylang-Ylang as the dominant notes. The Jasmine is balanced and not indolic in the least. Etoile du Sud is fairly linear (as some parfums are) but rises off the skin in a cloud that evokes not just the scent of the flower, but also of the leaves, twigs, and moist soil out of which the plant grows. The Ylang-Ylang is dominant and serves as the fixative, but still allows the florals to take the spotlight. I would also guess there is Oakmoss in small amounts.

Highly recommended if you can find it.

joan100

I would expect a little better from the exclusive house of Fragonard when it comes to originality. This fragrance is essentially another copy of a particular and extremely popular fragrance of the citrus variety. Yes you guessed it!

the_new_esta

This IS D&G Light Blue, but I would prefer to buy from Fragonard because I don't actually like any of D&G's other fragrances and generally don't really care for the house.

Recommended purchase for anyone. Citrus and sweet.

StellaDiverFlynn

Based on EDT concentration.

Fragonard Etoile opens with an aromatic and invigorating lime, underscored by the slight piquancy of fresh ginger. It then soon settles into a silky concoction of fresh red apple and various white flowers, with slightly sharp cedar, sheer amber and musk providing a solid base. The apple and flowers here don't smell photorealistic, but they smell quite natural and pleasant, devoid of artificial sugariness. The apple and white flowers in Etoile actually mesh pretty well and surprisingly suave, sometimes I even think of peach.

The sillage is soft and the longevity is around 8 hours. Etoile is a solid fruity floral, natural smelling and relatively affordable. For casual daily use or for a carefree outing, you almost can't go wrong with Etoile.

Lunele

I have not fallen in love with a scent in a long, long time. This one was love at first smell. It's not the longest-lasting one I've worn but, as it's affordable and fabulous, I actually enjoy spraying myself with it periodically throughout the day. Anyone in my office who gets a whiff says, "Mmmm! What IS that?" In a good way! In the best way. It's a lovely combination of the notes above, though I don't smell the base ones strongly. That's OK as I don't love the powdery smell of amber on me and, if I'm smelling the cedarwood, it's really subtle and working in harmony with the other notes, none of which come out and slap you in the face. The combo of bergamot, apple and ginger is an intoxicating and not-too-sweet beginning (I had it on while eating an apple once and noted how accurate that note is in the scent without being overwhelming - apple in stereo! Delightful!) and it's warmed up by the white florals in the middle, particularly the gardenia. It's a lovely, watery, spring-time. Good for day in warming and warm weather.

bond_girl1979

This is delightful. The apple and musk combine to make the most seductive summer scent.A real wrist sniffer, worthy of praise. I swear there is vanilla in this, although it is not listed.

PricklyAndHot

I liked this fragrances, but then I realized that it reminds me Light Blue by Dolce&Gabbana. Lemon, apple, cedar... It's not good despite it smells good(

savchenkonadezhda

Oh, boy, I can not discribe how much I love it! My signiture, my number one out of soo many beautiful scents in my not small collection! For me it is in one line with Emporio Armani White- one of my all time favorites! Simply beautiful-light-outstanding! And the most exciting thing about it is THE PRISE-just unbelievable!

kosmoskukka

Dear Paojaime,
Fragonards aluminum bottle is Parfum. I have it. ANd its georgeous. More bold... I am sure You will love the Perfume.
I have also both edt and perfume from Fragonard house (emilile) and I do not find difference between longivity. Both stays great! But Perfume is more bold in every scent they have in edt.

paojaime

I think I am in trouble. I recently got Ile d'amour for my birthday, and when it arrived it came with a darling array of ten sample EDT vials from Fragonard. Most of the ones I tried during the week were heavy florals, including Emile and a couple others. The thickness they possesed, while lovely, reminds me too much of some great perfumes my grandmother owned. They have an older quality to them. Well, this morning I tried the vial labeled Etoile.... oh boy.

Yes, there is a similarity to Light Blue, you notice it immediately. And yes, Etoile is bolder than Light Blue but also juicier. In a way you'd think it being bolder would make or more masculine or edgy, but in reality it is a more feminine bold. The apple note makes it juicier, and it makes it stand aside from Light Blue. My skin tends to do very well with citrusy and fresh spicy scents, like Armand Basi In Red which also has a similar feel.

I hope other people like this, because when I get it I will be wearing it a lot... The sample I tried is an EDT, and it lasted on my skin about 7 hours while the sillage was strongest in the first 4. I am curious to hear from anyone that has tried the EDP, because Fragonard does have Etoile in EDP as well (in the aluminum bottle). I'm interested in knowing if the smell is altered at all or really how it compares to the EDT in sillage/longetivity.

Aaredhel

Etoile is so much better than Light Blue by D&G... more long lasting power and intriguing personality. This is a perfect day time fresh scent for spring and summer.

bk121066

Like a cross between D&G Light Blue and Lancome Miracle. It's nice and fresh when first sprayed, but soon fades on me. It doesn't seem to have much depth and seems a bit herby/sour to my nose.
Probably a good one for younger girls to spritz on in the summer months - a daytime, warm-weather fragrance.

jules077

Bought it in Paris at the Fragonard factory last Spring! Love It! Where can I get more?

chrystal.liv

Got one for myself during a holiday in Grasse. Love it
Wonder where can I buy this in Malaysia?

cndylu4

I am completely in love with this scent. I have never had so many compliments on a fragrance! It does remind me somewhat of Light Blue, but much deeper and more long lasting. This is not a sweet fragrance at all, and might even border on a unisex type. LOVE!

monimasch

I really love this one. It is very natural, fresh and light. It also reminds me a little bit of "Light Blue" D&G

Fizzy

Very green and herbal. Don´t like it. Scrubbed it of. Very longlasting.
Typical man cologne spray.

lara0905

Breezy, juicy, refreshing composition with some D&G Light Blue overtone.
The similarity between this two fragrances is clearly detectable, but Étoile is much brighter, bolder, greenish and much sophisticated than Light Blue.
It's opens with juicy, zesty bergamott aroma with freshly bitten apple notes and a hint of ginger. Perhaps just the beginning reminds me of Light Blue, because after this energizing debut some green notes makes the scent slightly bitter and quite different. The cedar and amber gives a light touch of powdery tone.

All in all, this perfume is another well-done job from Fragonard.:)
( I just realized, it has some similarity with The Body Shop Apple Blossom Edt too.:D)

missk

Fragonard's fruity offerings surprise me because they're not sweet like I had expected they'd be. Etoile, meaning star in English, is classy yet fresh. Perhaps aimed towards a much older market than the young teen girls that fruity florals seem to attract.

Initially Etoile smelt like a garden to me. A wet, green and bitter smell, different but not unpleasant. As it began to develop it smelt a little bit like melon mixed with some soft white florals.

The apple note does appear eventually, and my god it is so beautifully done. I have a problem with some apple notes, especially in more popular scents as they tend to smell like rotten apple or apple juice. Etoile smells like a freshly bitten apple.

I quite like the ginger in this fragrance too. Ginger when mixed with a variety of fruits and vegetables in a blender is a natural immune booster for when you're sick. This might sound odd, but to me, Etoile smells healthy and invigorating.

Despite the white floral accords in the heart, the apple and ginger are quite strong throughout this composition. The cedar in the base only sharpens the scent a little.

I slightly agree with the D&G Light Blue reference, however this is more apple than lemon and I find it much more elegant too. For what it's worth, the cedary pencil shaving note in the drydown is the only similarity.

The sillage of Etoile is quite bold, its strength surprising me a little. While this isn't a favourite scent of mine, I must admit that if I ever turned into a crazy fruity floral lover, this would be the first fragrance I'd go to.

merlin

Yes... It reminds me of Light blue... But this is more intense notes and It has more lasting power. well done Fragonard !
