Baiser de Russie by Guerlain is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Baiser de Russie was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser. Top notes are Pine needles, Absinthe, Plum, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Cranberry and Jasmine; base notes are Caramel, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, White Musk and Sandalwood.

Guerlain introduced a new fragrance from the Les Parisiennes collection named Baiser de Russie (Russian Kiss) at the beginning of 2018. It brings back Moscow from the collection “Une ville, Un parfum”.

"Baiser de Russie pays tribute to the Muscovite and her “boho chic” look, reinventing with audacity the richness of Russian traditional bohemian style. Pine needles, Jasmine and Cranberry notes blend in a fruity musky floral and ultra-feminine perfume which echoes the heartbeat that pounds through the Russian capital."

Top notes : bergamot, plum, pine needle, lemon, absinthe
Heart cranberry, jasmine petals
Base: caramel, sandalwood, tonka bean, white musks, vanilla

Guerlain’s iconic Bee bottle is colored in aquatic green and decorated with an emerald grosgrain ribbon our around its neck. The fragrance is available as a 125 ml Eau de Parfum.

It is so unfortunate that this smells as incredible as it does because 1. discontinued and exorbitantly expensive 2. hardly lasts more than a few hours. If it was a normal price and the opening notes lasted even a bit longer this could easily become a signature scent for me, the combination of the photorealistic pine scent with the fruitier notes is so unexpectedly delicious. but alas

Timothy_magno

Some of the most natural smelling fragrances ever. Smells like a unisex Mon Guerlain 10/10.

amih29

lovely green smell for 5 mins. after that - the usual guerlain base, most of it being vanilla and musk. disappointed, I expected more :( I understand now why they discontinued it.

Mez0Nez

So close to Mon Guerlain, but the Lavender was replaced by Pine and Absinthe (herbal bitterness)

CoastStarlight

Like Ianthe, I was looking for White Witch and sadly wound up with Turkish Delight. The pine needles and green top notes vanish almost immediately for me, like catching a fleeting glimpse of a doe through the winter forest, gone the second you perceive it. The scent then speedruns like a runaway sleigh past the hoped-for holiday note of tart cranberry towards the sticky toffee of the base, planting this scent firmly in gourmand territory on my skin; any berries perceived are candied, not tart, as we are in a cozy Christmas cabin instead of the Baba Yaga hut I was seeking. My hunt for the perfect holiday season scent continues; I'll wear out the rest of my decant of this paired with something smokier (like IA's City on Fire) to try to give this gentle, sweet concoction some teeth, and pursue my true icy forest queen elsewhere.

Gatorsrules

What a wonderful vanilla pine combo. This is my first Guerlain love and immediately ordered. It goes from a fruity, licorice vanilla into a conifer forward candied berry vanilla on me. In the Florida heat it is light enough and projects quite well. This is certainly a treasure IMO.

BostonScentGuy

An appealing and agreeable gourmand vanilla. It is plush and cuddly and so absolutely pleasant, but with just a slight enough edge (that hint of pine, sour fruit, and a touch of ethyl maltol sweetness etc.) to make it more distinctive than the Body Shop. I could imagine wearing a luxurious lotion smelling like this. I do wish as a perfume that it had more of a "top mid base" journey and maybe a little more darkness or woodiness. Given the price and rarity, it's hard to justify seeking it out, but I also feel like it's the kind of scent you could make your elegant easy reach. In other words--I'll probably never own a bottle but feel like I'd go through one quickly if I lucked into one. If you miss this dearly and haven't explored Mon Guerlain (particularly the extrait) deeply, you might find what you want and need of Baiser in Mon Guerlain--lavender aromatics caramelized with a judicious use of ethyl maltol, a sweet plush vanilla drydown, clean musks. For me, Mon Guerlain is missing the herbal astringency Baiser de Russie has to make it more universal and more interesting. If I was in charge, I'd swap this out for Mon Guerlain in their mainstream stable and I feel it'd sell just as well (if not more) and scratch the same itch.

Really a gorgeous scent, but it need to have a better applicator. I put mine into a spray bottle and then I can pick up on all the notes and get better staying power. The cranberry - pine combo slays me. Just says winter to me. Fall and winter is when I usually wear it because it is sweet, the heat amplifies it. Besides MPN, which I don't have, it's my favorite from Les Parisiennes line. Wish I had bought more of the line before it was axed.

So, I heard that this one and some other patrimoine collections are going to be discontinued (where I live) so I ordered some perfumes in the color bee bottles before it’s gone. This scent is not my usual choice since I’m chypre lover, tho I think it’s good for winter. Too sticky sweet to wear in hot humid Tokyo summer.
Btw, those color bee bottles are fun, and practical if you choose dark color like black, blue to shut light. And matte white is looking just like l’heure blanche.

Absolutely love this fragrance. Very unique. If anyone that didn't care for this fragrance, would like to get rid of it, I am VERY interested 😊

Lorax

Wow. This is a truly amazing piney, slightly fruity, sweet (but not too sweet) dream in a bottle. It feels timeless and ageless and relaxing and invigorating all in one. The opening is aromatic then it gets more sweet and fruity. For me this is between a love and like. If it just lasted longer, especially with the opening notes, it would be perfect: I have 5 ml decant, but the price and poor longevity are too limiting ever validate buying a bottle. But, sigh, its just so, so good!!!!

moderndandy_swap

Mon Guerlain with green minty e-cigarette vape instead of lavender. Way to overpriced for what it is.

cocofluff

Mildly fruity, aromatic greeness on a base of woody vanilla. Gorgeous. -

I really liked the opening but after 10 mins or so it is gone and a generic sweet scent is left. I sold my bottle since I didn’t see myself using it. I wish it were more long lasting and less sweet, it could have truly been a nice go-to frag.

pepperoniann

I have to agree with @brumbarche's insightful review. Baiser de Russie has a captivating opening with its refreshing absinthe note mixed with pine needles and jasmine. The gourmand undertone is there but it plays really well with the aromatic tops. Truly exceptional and I couldn't stop sniffing the blotter. Unfortuantely in the drydown all the interesting new nuances dissipate and I'm left with the much less exciting Guerlainade and vanilla, with a bit berry... now if Guerlainade is your jam Baiser de Russie will be your new BFF as a contemporary gourmand, but alas this isn't for me.

I wish they made the pine note last and tuned down the vanilla. I'd find this a more interesting Guerlain that stands out from the pack.

brumbarche

It has this 90's feel to it. Like CK ONE but with some sweet milky green fig aspects (like in the The Body Shop Fig, thus I understand why in the reminds me of section there was Promenade des Anglais Guerlain for women - a fig centered scent).

I agree with the previous reviewer that I need more of the pineneedle goodness here. It gives the perfume its uniqueness and gets you yearn for more. But instead it let those notes peak through more in the drydown, you get more of the "safe" mass appealing sweetness, which leaves you eventually with something unremarkabe and rather forgettable.

Since pine is such a great choice for this perfume, I wish they add the necessary adjustments to a new release of it, which make the interesting notes stand out and for longer, and do some magic with them in the drydown too. Overall, a nice fragrance, great for daily use. Office safe and for any age. Even my 12 yo son likes it lightly sprayed on his gym clothes, as he's too young for barbershop notes in fragrances, but likes to find his gym clothes smelling delicate and fresh.

Edit:
After I realized that I haven't been reaching for some perfumes in my collection like I used to (this one for instance), I decided to revisit a few more that share the same fate (despite the initial excitement I enjoyed with them). I found few great combinations between them. Angel Muse was one of the perfumes I smell every now and them, but I don't wear it. It's a bit vulgar maybe and leaves me on the fence. I like the initial blast, but then it tires me and I just don't want to end up tired, so ... I just don't risk spraying it on and I just play it safe. In store it always captivated me, but after I bought it, it was a short lived friendship, which gradually went cold. When I think of it I am taken by the memory of liking it, which gets me enthusiastic to grab it for a sniff, but when I think of myself wearing it, I avoid it as cloying, tiring, a bit too much ... just ... whatever I used to like about it, it now annoyed me. And nothing seemed to work to smooth out our differences, until he met Baiser de Russie. Their marriage works for both of them, and respectively for me... I get a smoother, classier Angel Muse and all jazzed up Baiser de Russie. We can now all be friends again.
Another discoveries for example are D&G The One - I just stopped wearing it, until I started layering it with Kilian Princess...

pozimhoff

Lovely hippy chic blend. Happy and carefree. I wish it had a tiny bit more pine notes to tone down the sweetness.

MissyJ

This is so nice, airy and light. Delicious. Not strong and doesnt last which is a big downside. Not sure it's worth the price.

Phantosmia Bella

Although this is totally a part of Guerlain's "sucrinade" frenzy, Baiser de Russie shows how to REALLY create an elegant gourmand.
The main note is caramel, the same one you get in all of Mon Guerlain's flankers, but less screechy and far more well blended.
First you get some fresh pine and a slight "berry" scent (I can't say I find the note to be specifically "cranberry"), and then this scent becomes a lovely caramel-vanilla game with a delicate spicy twist towards anise/absinthe.
What makes it magical to my nose is actually how it becomes a skin-scent instead of a sugar-bomb. Once this elegant sweetness becomes an intimate companion and not a delegate tooting its horn to let everyone know you entered the room, you realise this is just the right amount of sillage you need from this beauty. Otherwise it could become too harsh and too loud.
Practically, the perfect scented choice for wintertime.
Longevity is actually very good.

baburina_im

Love it! Baiser de Russie - great awesome scent. It reminds me beautiful Russian open spaces, green forests, floral gardens, summertime tea pause with grandmother's jam in fruity garden. This perfum is so cozy and same time not clumsy. Pure bohemian perfume. It sits close to the skin, very intimate, gorgeous! I bought it in Guerlain boutique after being testing 1 month, so no mistake:) I enjoy it everyday.

Adiro

Beautiful and refined, yes I can smell the notes slightly, a pleasure but so darn weak and short lived. Honestly I am quite shocked as I usually like my fumes light but well, this is *very*light for the money..... I imagined it would be of decent strength and tenacity, if it’s a Guerlain of this class.. ( and price)..
Not that it smells the same, it does not, but the “air”, the attitude, the overall impression is similar to Instant Magic, same peaceful grace with some shimmering notes, soft and pleasant, not a sharp edge in sight. And finally, presentation is lovely, the box is huge, the hand atomizer pump work well but dispenses a very small amount of fragrance (much less than a regular sprayer.)

cranky137

This is absolutely boring...
Sweet and floral'y but not unique. It reminds of Gucci Flora Gardenia.
I don't get it?

Mooniq

This is soo not me! I love, love, love, love this one! A bit sweet, but not sugarsweet, its fresh but not flowerfresh, its tender but strong, its not light or shy nor heavy. Projection is a perfect circle around you. Just perfect. Magic. Fantaboulus!! I will buy a bottle when the samples is empty.

cherelune

Oh my! This sounds soooo good! I wish I could try this, but I'm pretty sure this won't be available in my country! (It doesn't sound like it has the "right" notes to make it salable here.) Sigh.

PerfumeEmpress

Oh, I want this. It sounds so intriguing.

Roge

I mean damn! The bar measuring rod. With Baiser, I leveled up, I feel important. Leave it to Guerlain (aka the curator of compliments) to have us all trending in the right direction. The medley of vanilla, plum and pine is a bizarre combo indeed but the oddity of aromas gives this ownership power(something worth having). The entire fragrance is gently shaved to give you a sense of buoyancy. Qualitatively, this is something women will be drawn to and not at all contrarian as the notes suggest. The last time I ignored gender marketing was when I bought Gourmand Coquin(another Guerlain product). Impossible to dislike and it does smell like Moscow.

I was very upset that Moscow was no longer available and my Guerlain rep called me to say she has this one and it is almost the same, I brought my purse spray with a tiny bit of Moscow left to compare the 2 and they were pretty identical. I actually preferred this version now I just have to see if I receive the same compliments with this one. At 45 it was always nice to have the young interns loving it and begging to know what it is that I am wearing.

Have you ever heard of Chuk and Gek? This short story /written by Arkady Gaidar/ describes the story of two brothers and their mother who have to survive ten days in the guard´s hut in a wilderness of Siberian taiga.

This fragrance reminds me of this story for a few reasons. In the story, there is an impressive description of the taiga biome, its lichen woodland with spruces, firs, pines & wild cranberries and bilberries. And these notes are prominent in this scent - fresh green needles, moss, lichen, honey-sweet resins & juicy berries /and the whole impression refers to the typical absinthe aroma/. And there is something like a light aura around this wild, green & herbal heart, consisting of vanilla, white musk & mild sandalwood. And yes, you can notice swirls of caramel in this composition, it´s like if you were eating brittle while walking through the coniferous forest.

Baiser de Russie is green, sweet & rich. It´s a journey from Moscow into the wild. Have a safe trip!

CasuallyFragrant

This scent is gorgeous.

It’s if someone took good quality creamy caramel and stirred it into a glass of absinthe, and dropped in an organic vanilla bean. And then garnished the drink with cranberries and pine. That aroma is this scent. It’s wonderful.

Long lasting, but skin scent projection (I had a dabber, maybe a spray would project more).

Excellent new release by Guerlain that I feel is versatile and not just something for winter or Christmas. It’s a unique boozy scent that may work year round.

Ianthe

Don't make my mistake. I had a whole 'War and Peace' scenario playing in my head as I sniffed this, at the urgent behest of the lady selling me my replacement bottle of Pamplelune (going somewhere hot for Easter and it's one of my two favourite hot weather colognes ever, but that's a whole different story.) So I hear the name, I see the delicate green liquid, the emerald ribbon, the black box and take a deep sniff and I convince myself I smelled pine woods and passion and deep snow and furs. I mean, I could almost hear the jingling of the harness as the sleigh passed through that nighttime forest.

I would pay £££ for the fragrance I'd concocted in my head. The trouble is, I got home and was forced to face certain uncomfortable facts.

1. I really need to test fragrance blindfolded.
2. I really need not to get carried away and buy second fragrances on a whim because what the hell, it's a great perfume house and I'm in a good mood.
3. This is a nice fragrance but it's most certainly not what I thought I bought.

To me, plum is, by a country mile, the dominant note in this, to the extent that I was reminded of one of those heady, sweet, Christmassy liqueurs. Now, there's nothing wrong with that at all, but I'm all about the chypres, the greens and the woods. I'm emphatically not a gourmandy, fruity kinda girl. This is rich and sugary and fruity and I'm sure it's lovely if you're into that kind of thing, but my bottle is now in the possession of one of my BFs, whose favourite perfume is La Petite Robe Noire and who happened to be with me when I sprayed this (inadvisably) all over myself for the first time. 'Oh, that's gorgeous,' she trilled, while I thought 'what the hell? Where's my dark, mysterious Russian forest?' So now it's her gorgeous perfume and as God is my witness, I will approach all future purchases with my eyes shut.

orpailleur

Very very close to Moscow EdP (2009-2014) - only 1 or 2 minor (and neither mentioned for previous Moscow) ingredients had to be dropped due to IFRA regulations, a Guerlain SA told me.
The opening is so nice with a woody-sweet citrus - the pine needle scent is gorgeous - and a plum which remains present way beyond the opening.
Then vanilla and tonka play with a great jasmine underlined by non invasive berries, before settling down to a sweet woody-musky skin scent.
A must have for those who are nostalgic of Moscow and the Voyages Olfactifs series.
Some of my friends perceive it as slightly watered down vs. Moscow, but on my skin it was clearly denser during an arm to arm confrontation, with a longevity of 10h (vs. 8h for my older Moscow), but this is not to be taken for granted for everyone.
Note for editors: the bee bottle is classical "white" (transparent), only the juice is green (pine needles and absinthe)
