Very Irresistible by Givenchy is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Very Irresistible was launched in 2003. Very Irresistible was created by Dominique Ropion, Sophie Labbe and Carlos Benaim. Top notes are Cassia, Lemon Verbena and Star Anise; middle notes are Rose, Peony and Magnolia; base notes are Taif Rose, Musk, Vanilla and Patchouli.

Irresistible, modern, floral fragrance. This incredibly feminine fragrance was created of five variances of roses. The opening note of anise, delicately-fresh, brings in an original modern nuance in the classical floral harmony. The sharp and piercing beauty of rose has become milder, even warm and comfortable. The face of the fragrance is charming Liv Tyler. The fragrance was created by Dominique Ropion, Sophie Labbe and Carlos Benaim in 2003.

Simple yet lovely.

I really enjoyed wearing it when it came out, with its pretty notes of rose. But not being a big fan of floral perfumes, I quickly got tired of it.

It nevertheless remains a pretty perfume.

A. Rose123

A radiant, post sun-shower Spring rose garden. The roses are wet, the oil from those roses is being seared by sunlight, magnified by raindrops. The anise just mixes with the crunchy, vegetal greens to give the impression of spicy-green rose stems and leaves.

“Very Irresistible” edt: Technicolor roses and a rose garden at its most buoyant and fresh. Clean in a petal-water way with the tiniest a hint of mint.

This has off and on, been my party and “girls going out” scent for years, so I worked hard to discern how much the sense of excitement and fun this scent jogs in me, is purely down to personal associations.

But then I read similar, optimistic views on “Very Irresistible” and I think many have the same “what came first; the chicken or the egg?” dilemma with this scent:

Do we associate it with excitement because we wore it for fun times or did we grab it in anticipation of fun, expecting it would be a perky match for such get-togethers? I wonder if we can always tell the difference.

Those who have only tested it without wearing it out yet, seem to come to the same conclusion though, so that could be some confirmation 🤣.

jadepo21

For me, this is rose done right. It's not the powdery, perfumey rose, but a natural, green, garden rose. It's got a hint of greens and floral sweetness. The dry down is quite lovely. It's spring in a bottle.

D0LLFACE

Is this for the edt? I have a sample of the edt and I didn’t care for it when I tried it, but now I tried it again in this very hot humid weather we’ve been having and it’s great. A sparkling, sunny, effervescent rose. Pretty and feminine and light, but long lasting. Perfect for summer. I put it behind my ears and am getting whiffs and it has a positive aromatherapy effect for me. Definitely getting a full bottle, I don’t think anyone wears this anymore so that’s also a plus.

Ms._45

I wore this daily when I was about 16. It suited me well at time. I bought it for the 20th anniversary & for nostalgia. It was the first perfume bought for my collection, which I just began this summer. I hadn’t smelled it since about 2005, smells as I remember. I consider it more of a fall / winter perfume, but is suitable for evening date nights. & I didn’t initially think I would wear it much. & didn’t. I thought it was a bit too “boho” with the patchouli, which isn’t my current style … more dark & sophisticated. Anyway, I felt like putting it on last night. & it seemed like it just suits what I’ve been looking for as my signature scent profile: romantic, sexy, spicy, vanilla, feminine, floral. Femme Fatale vibes … & it lasts a long time. I applied before bed & can still smell. I can also smell it on myself for hours while wearing. I’ve now tried many perfumes & have purchased many samples & bottles. Tried different scent profiles. But it’s funny sometimes, you’ve had it right the first try as a teen.

My new EDT performs and lasts exactly as the original Very Irresistible - does anyone know if the original release was actually an EDT? A few years later, I tried the purple bottle EDP and thought it was going to choke me to death, the anise and patchouli were a hefty combination in the EDP. The formulation was definitely stronger, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my body chemistry... 🤷

Bright minty opening, I get no lemon verbena per se, but a very lemon-y rose. The anise is bright, like I get the feeling that i should be sneezing my fool head off, but it never takes it quite that far. It's like the fun part of the sneeze when your like 'uh oh, uh... I guess not' without the irritating burn. Anyhow, the roses are beautiful, real, and long lasting. The patchouli is so well blended that it can't be picked out but lends the earthy sent of the garden the roses are planted in.

Two sprays are adequate, but today I couldn't help myself and went for a third. I'm not sure why I did, it doesn't induce a headache, but then it's all I can taste. Lasts in my scarves for days, lasts on my skin for over 12 hours. This is all anise and heart notes, the entire time. I love it. Not too heavy for 90°F summer days, and not too light or delicate to take a -8°F winter jaunt outside. [I'm from "upstate NY", the weather is a roller coaster.] I think I may have gone for the 3rd spritz because the air is thick with forest fire smoke from Canada today, and I don't want to smell that.

I receive compliments from men and women. No one else wears this where I live, so that's a major plus. I have found that men do find it very irresistible, VI certainly leaves an impression. I hope this says around for a very long time.

I can't smell the anise, but I can feel it... like a slightly minty blast - that cold feeling lingers. Humid weather makes her stretch out a bit farther than my arm's length, she definitely is an invader of personal space when it's humid, but she's not obnoxious about it. No one has ever, ever complained about this fragrance. I have family members who are very sensitive to fragrances and even if I go overboard on my spritzes no one gets a migraine.

My all time love and signature is Hot Couture, this is a close second. While VI will never replace HC, they both have a place in my heart.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

I sprayed this onto my skin when I was at a David Jones here in Australia, so that I could find out how this perfume wore and transformed throughout the day and what it smells like.

From what I can smell, it is a moderately spicy rose fragrance that is wrapped in a cloud of anise, patchouli and magnolia. There's a slight citric quality from the magnolia and the lemon verbena and a warmth from the musky base. The rose and Taif rose notes are definitely dominant in this perfume, but it's not a soliflore and this perfume has a lot of depth, complexity and sexiness to it.

Very Irresistible by Givenchy then lasted about 7 and a half hours on my skin and it gave me a scent bubble that I would consider moderate. It's not a headache inducing fragrance at all and I find it quite sophisticated and grown up smelling. Maybe slightly mature for my tastes, though. A bit too spicy, too. I do love the beautiful and radiant Liv Tyler in the advertisment/commercial for this though!

For all of these reasons above, I give Very Irresistible by Givenchy a respectable 7/10. I wouldn't buy it, but I find it very pleasant smelling.

spellbook.soaps

I remember absolutely coveting this scent at a department store when I was in high school, except I couldn’t afford it. I finally ordered some in 2020 as a yolo impulse and it was instant bug spray :(

Tony Shades

This is the old formulation of Very Irresistible, one of the few sexy womanly roses in an ocean of pink girly princessy roses, mainly because of the fresh soft spicy anise, which gives it a mature oomph.

HeroOfOakvaleOCP

One of the best perfumes on a woman. It should be called extremely irresistible!

RachelDesiree

I like this perfume. Nothing bad to say about it. I think it’s very nice and aromatic. Stronger than Irresistible. I would like to try the irresistible it’s more sweet with a slight hint of fry musk. The very irresistible has a stronger musk but nice and floral.

alfa.lázcares

I am one of those very few that can not smell anything other than anise. Super powerful, super intense, and its kinda being too much. I mellow it down with something very fruity, but that anise is right there, so I am definetly not loving this. I dont hate it but i wouldnt use it in hot summery weather, its for cold nights to me.

natasha28

It's an okay spring scent, fresh and slightly synthetic. Not a clean fresh, slightly powdery. I don't like it as much as I thought I would based on the notes. I wouldn't buy or keep it if gifted. Really only good for spring time. It would make a nice scent for a body wash. I can understand why people like it, but it's not for me. Silage is arm's length. Lasts a long time on the skin 10+ hours(nosiliage), age 35+.

YLC629

I absolutely love this fragrance. I've been wearing it since 2005. It starts out rather bright on me and then transforms to a very sultry rose and anise scent, yet still maintains some brightness. This is a bit of a man killer scent for me. I even had a gay friend once tell me that I could turn him straight with this perfume! (Obviously joking) : ) While it has been reformulated and isn't as strong as it was, it's still an absolute powerhouse on me. I can do two sprays max of this or it's too much.

Raluko111

This is such a nice scent for winter. I was a little bit intimidated by the smell from the bottle, but on my skin the scent changes into something milder, rose-milk is what I would call it. This was a present, it wasn`t something I would have chosen myself, but I am really enjoying the scent and would consider purchasing it again. I love the smell of roses, but somehow in most perfumes this scent can come off as too artificial and old-ladyish. This one is different, there is a youthful creaminess to it. I can see how some wouldn't like this: the roses do smell a bit...radioactive? However, I am attracted to this strangeness.

lovealwaysalisa

I've owned this one for many years. It's a beautiful take on rose, with anise giving it a lovely "kick". I'm always complimented by other women when I wear this. Perfect for spring and summer. Refreshing with a bit of feminine sensuality. Performance is great too. 6+ hours.

elsekymeky

I got it for my wife as a blind buy,

The Rose and Flower are bombing from the beginning, it fades after 30 minutes to be sexier, making me want to eat her.

Silage and Longevity are above moderate

This is totally not a teenage fragrance, 25+ ages

H_thur

My most loved and used scent throughout my perfume obsessed life. This really sparked my fascination of perfumes as a whole. The scent quite simply makes me feel beautiful. It’s not the grandma rose scent that one would assume by the amount of rose notes listed. It’s a bright, slightly fruity, modern rose. I don’t reach for this as often as I used to, but to date it’s the only perfume I have repurchased time and time again. My ultimate classic signature fragrance. It is long lasting, and the dry down is a beautiful, rich comforting rose, like wearing a warm fuzzy sweater in a rose garden.

martagonlily1

I ordered this perfume by mistake but what a happy mistake it was. I am not a rose note lover per se but this particular perfume has an affinity to my olfactory receptors. I've finished up my 15 ml bottle and went to order two new bottles. Longevity is a beast especially if you spritz it on your shirt. This one is currently in rotation with Red Door edp and vintage Cabotine edp and edt.

Looking into acquiring Live Irresistible soon, the perfume I am suppose to get and got pushed in the back burner.

KCristina.hb

omg this was my first signature scent, i wore for literal years before i was forced to move on, still haven't found anything that has a hold on me like this one had. def recommend, always got compliments, great projection and it stayed on for a super long time. very pretty floral but not at all like an old lady, i wore it as a teen and omg was it fitting, very cool but girly and not overtly sweet, amazing.

SummersReign8221

Very Irresistible:
Tested this when it first launched and absolutely loved it! Very pretty scent and has good longevity. Wore it to work and nights out and got compliments.

Esther77

Incredibly disappointing and it makes me so sad. This used to be my signature scent when I was a teenager. Now it is but a mere shadow of what it used to be. What made it shine is now gone, you can faintly smell it in the beginning, but it is now so airy. It has been stripped of its core and becomes a skin scent within an hour on me. I am so sad, and I don't understand why they had to strip her of all her glory and beauty.

anidamasceno

My signature for almost 10 years (2005-2014). Feminine, fun, chic.
I can't say you will feel sexy, but you for sure will feel BEAUTIFUL.

Moderate projection, very nice longevity.

Peeka

Liv Tyler really is the epitome of this fragrance. Enchanting, beautiful & very feminine.

It’s not a scent that will shout & scream for attention, it is however understated & sophisticated - anyone that catches the trail is sure to be mesmerised.

This is a well blended perfume and so although rose features prominently, it is balanced out with the other notes. Would recommend this to anyone looking for something easy to wear & pretty without being immature.

Perfect for day or night wear.

aldinatic

Really soft, beautiful, feminine. The initial spray smells a little bit like tea leaf. Light citrusy.
A hint of girly. Like a more quality Paris Hilton perfume. This is the best perfume with Anis in it. But still.. bring the purple one back too.. because it's more for going out at night . This one is a daytime perfume.
update: its a bit acidic.

jesuscerda1114

i was on the school bus going home in middle school when this rocker girl brought out 3 samples out. it was the most sexy clean classy pretty smell ever. haven't shad it now that im older im sure id love it it was rich strong in yo face sexy!

xx2901

Very Irresistible is my favourite ROSE perfume. I always keep it around for more formal occasions, like weddings or parties. I can smell anis and lemon verbena, some amber and musk, but no matter what, it's based on rich rose oils. I would say it's floral, but with French laid back attitude.

Austrian_in_Denmark

When I finished studying, I went on a trip to London. I was looking for a new perfume and browsed in Harrod's. What a selection! I remember the feeling of being in consumerist heaven. My two favourites were Very Irresistible and Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. I ended up buying Very Irresistible and used it as a signature for maybe two years.

Nowadays I would choose Un Jardin Sur Le Nil.
Don't get me wrong: Very Irresistible is attractive indeed, and I still like it a lot. I get fresh, almost citrussy rose from it, and I like the combination with the anise. It is an attractive and happy scent to me.

However, there is a slight artificial note about it that I can smell now, but could not smell then. So I do not wear it often anymore.
Still, a winner in my eyes. I mean, nose.

LaChinoiserie

This was my favourite perfume for nearly 20 years and that's saying a lot because I was only about 12 when I first got into it.

I knew nothing about fragrance back then - just that I loved the scent of Very Irresistible (also very effective marketing campaign with Liv Tyler).

I've only recently started learning more about the intricate perfume world and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was created by none other than Dominique Ropion.

Even though it's supposed to be more of a daytime perfume I used to always wear it at night and felt very attractive doing so.

P.S. I once accidentally got the Electric Rose flanker but the original is way better

Kir Royal

I was three months pregnant, when Very Irresistible was released and I fell for it. Badly. Was raving about it. My hormones found this scent absolutely and undeniably irresistible.

So my poor husband went and got me the bottle. For the next 6 months I was in peony and may rose heaven, the scent was so feminine, fresh, a bit mysterious, somehow gleaming, well, if you can say this about a perfume. Glorious!

Then our daughter was born.
And - as you can guess - I couldn't stand it anymore. Oh, the headaches it caused from then on! I had to give the half full bottle away, but still remember this perfume with a twinkling eye.

Amascent

This is a floral soft spicy fresh scent that comes across a little fruity and gorgeous on the skin. It's great day time scent. I like these types of scents for the gym and work. Youthful and fun. Its soft, pretty, delicate, delicious, and a little mysterious. Just gorgeous!

GinCatsBooks

Very Irresistible, well, if you like smelling fresh, yes, it is irresistible.

I ended up with a 50ml bottle of VI during the late spring time, I was happily smelling a few fragrances which I had been curious about and then felt pressured into buying a fragrance by the SA, because I just wanted to go asap, I asked for a bottle of the last fragrance I smelt, which was Very Irresistible EDT, I intended on taking it back the next day because whilst I like it, I didnt actually want to buy anything, but then, I decided to keep it because I did in all honesty get a 50ml bottle for the price of a 30ml bottle.

The bottle is a very awkward height, it doesnt fit on my shelf, but I like the shape and the colours of the bottle, its very minimal but stylish. The scent itself is, well, its a bit like the bottle, its minimal and understated, but its very fresh and clean, perfect for daily wear and very office safe. The longevity is quite decent, I get about a full days wear out of it, I've been wearing it since 9AM and now at 3PM, I can still smell it, its also not super heavy, but people will notice the nice gentle waft when you wear it.

The notes! so, on me, I dont get any dominant rose notes, I mainly get some gentle floral undertones, some soft spice from the anise and some slightly green freshness which I think is the verbena, and the verbena is the strongest note on my skin and it stays firmly put from application, dry down and until I take a shower. I've worn this during the summer and now its coming into winter, I still wear it, its a good all-rounder, its in a similar vein to Lancome Miracle, if you like Miracle, the chances are, you'll probably like this too.

I really should wear it more, it smells good and I do get complimented on it.
Would I repurchase? Maybe, I need to start wearing it more before I decide weather I'd buy it again or move on.

mychinarose

I wore this the other day and forgot to post a review, but I did put a note to myself of what this reminds me of now. Cherry pie. Even though no fruits are listed, there is something very fruity-rosy about the smell, and it has just enough of an anise & cassia base to keep it from drifting off into complete sweetness. I can also see why Givenchy decided to update Very Irresistible to to take it into full-blown gourmand territory with the introduction of Delicieuse (which is toothachingly sweet and most definitely a full-on dessert fragrance, and while it is strong I do love it).

This Very Irresistible IS very basic, and so I would say this is a fragrance that needs layering, otherwise it's just kind of boring. You could layer this on top of Lolita Lempicka maybe...or just add any vanilla. Or experiment with some other niche perfumes that could use an oomph of sweetish rose or cherry (I would say maybe Delina, but then you might pass out from same ingredient overload). Overall, I'm putting this down as a "like".

Phantomias

Mild floral fragrance balanced by sweet spices. It's a pretty scent and very feminine, but it's not remarkable. I expect better from Givenchy. Sillage and lasting power are moderate, making VI quite work safe.

candymarie

I agree with mevans, rose is not discernable enough to make it a rose perfume. To me it's a fresh, nicely blended floral with just the right amount of fruit amd vanilla to round it out.

mevans

A beautiful, floral and girly fragrance. It's a young and flirty girl in a flowing sundress. It's innocent, charming and sweet. It's talked about as if its a "rose perfume" but the rose doesn't take over for me. It's got a perfect balance of all the florals. The rose is there but not overwhelming. Perfect to wear anywhere and any season. Sillage and longevity are very good.

kastehelmi

Sweet synthetic rose writ large--with just enough dry anise to balance out the intense sweetness of everything else. It is about rose, but the peony note is really strong as well. There is a reason this Floral Fruity is so popular. Many mainstream rose perfumes are often too sharp for the public, maybe on the sour or green side. Especially Bulgarian Roses, which are so big and heady. I am a huge rose lover, so it ends up bring pretty pleasant, but I am spoiled by smelling other more natural high quality rose perfumes. I almost like it, but not really for me.

Eva Wu

I really want to like this perfume.

A bright sweet rose in a simple pink bottle, what could be more charming?

It's also the favourite perfume of one of my best friends (he's been wearing it for YEARS), so I feel like a traitor speaking ill of it.

But Jesus, do I not like it! It strikes me as bare, a sugary synthetic rose and not much else. It would be alright in a candle, maybe, but then again even candles are more sophisticated in their odor profiles these days...

So my search for a serviceable, low-key rose continues.

Meanwhile, I'll try and get my friend hooked on Bvlgari Rose Goldea.

Tugboat

Blind bought a bottle of this as well as the etd version just based off the notes, as they were all my favorites. What could possibly go wrong?

Initial impression was of a public bathroom with both, though this version was a bit more tolerable. I wore both about once a week (alternating, not at the same time) over the course of several months to see if my nose would eventually "get" the beauty of these, but it never happened. Not only that, but I got several negative comments, all bathroom freshener/cleaner related. Once, I was in a room full of people and I overheard someone complaining that it suddenly smelled like a toilet. D: guess this perfume isn't for me.

Rose112

How did I ever forget about this sexy perfume? The bottle is beautiful and so is the scent, and the sprayer shoots out such a fine mist. Just lovely packaging. Very irresistible is a heavy rose scent and there isn’t much past that! It has a nice vanilla dry down to go with it, but it’s a very simple yet seductive smell. Defintiely for the older and more mature woman!

My sister had this years ago when I was really young, right before the age I started actually wearing perfume. I’m not sure why she had this one as a teen, but hey, I can’t blame her! It does smell so so sexy. I remember taking it from her room and spraying my bed with it or using it before school on the days I wanted to feel mature lol.

Recently, though, I rediscovered this perfume and was not only flooded with memories, but also blown away! It’s much more beautiful than I ever remember it being. Before a romantic night I love to spritz this one away, and I still spray it occasionally before bed or on my sheets. It’s a bit strong, but that’s how I like it :) waking up and smelling like Very Irresistible from the night before is a great way to start your day.

cedar_lea

This borders on too perfumey for me, but i still like it. It id difficult to pick out individual notes but the opening had a fruitiness to it.and the anise and rose combination feels rather elegant.

Upon revisiting there is a bright fruitiness that is unexpected looking at the notes. I would expect to see apple or melon (watermelon rind) notes. There is a cheerfulness to this.

After the fruity phase it goes through a bit of a bug spray phase before getting a strong anise scent and nice rose. I love this part and the fruity opening.

Charess

To my nose this is not something I would classify as 'very irresistible'. It's a sweet rosey-floral. Much rose and peony and the anise making it somewhat fresh spicy. Feminine, innocent but in no way irresistible. It's a happy, flowery fragrance which can be worn year-round.
Sillage is moderate-heavy and longevity is +/- 6 hours.

Mkhtsheej

Sweet rose and peony. Very feminine. I purchased my bottle in 2003 while in Paris. Sillage is great and I wear it when I want to feel ultra-girly and whimsical.

happy-knight

(pre-reformulation) Very heady floral synthetic scent, I can see why my mother wasn't a fan.

justfloral

I had to scrub it.

Synthetic "wax-y" roses + dirty sock note (!)

cyan

If your bottle has the name printed on the glass, this is not the page for that perfume: the Fragrantica page for that is "Very Irresistible Eau de Toilette Givenchy for women".

That perfume is the 2012-now version, which has different notes than the fragrance of the same name on this page.

The bottle throats of the two versions are also different.

The Very Irresistible on this page is the original, made from 2003-2011 and has no patchouli.

I love this original version - just ordered my third bottle of it! It is fresh and light and has a twist that makes it smell unique - maybe the anise.

Leonie Iris

A sweet powdery rose with a hint of spice, this is one of my cheerful go-to perfumes when I'm getting ready for a nice yet not too fancy date. It especially brings me joy because it was my anniversary present from my boyfriend.

MissMasha

This is so youthful! Not only for younger by age , but also for those at heart. A happy scent. I can see how for some can be addicting and seductive. Quite strong and longlasting, especially on clothes, it lasted for days on my coat, yet I feel like I can still smell it. It left a beautiful clean, rosy a bit spicy scent.

Eau de Nikita

I'm a guy but this is my "if I was a girl, this would be my signature" perfume lol . It's an old floral perfumy perfume. It puts Estee Lauder Beautiful to shame. The best part is the opening. Liv Tyler was absolutely perfection for these ads. Now they have Amanda Seyfried fronting the brand...

kristen0129

Beautiful rose scent with anise, just it has too much Bulgarian rose oil, doesn't fit everyone's skin chemistry.

Janlaw

Initially smells like wine then blossoms into powdery flowers. I don't like it I have to sniff and sniff to figure out what it's doing...gives me a headache...too much heat not my type sorry..,

Sniffette

I tried it today, well, at least its not nauseating. I would buy a 50ml and move on...

I might seem silly but couldnt they give this perfume a better name?.. I think it deserves a intriguing name, 'Very Irrestable' is just...duh.

I was on a Rose everything kick in 2016, so I got a large bottle at Macy's. Definitely better for nighttime/special occasion than an every day scent. I receive a ton of compliments when I wear it, which is nice. Sadly, it's a perfume I find I need to be extremely careful with. 3 sprays is all you need: spray on one wrist and gently tab it on other and behind the ears, do 2 more sprays that you walk/twirl through. Any extras and the scent is extremely overpowering and gives me a headache. Plus I have to apologize to people that sit near me in the office.

PseudoIntellectualXing

I would say this is the right perfume if you have a date or anniversary dinner with your important half. It gives a super sweet touch, and I think it brought up my inner girlishness quite a lot ;) only problem is that it gets a bit too sweet after a while, and I would prefer a more subtle hint to the scent rather than overwhelming everything.

Wendyrachel

What can I say? If you are a fan of sweet sexy powdery scents then this is the one for you. I fell in love with this scent many years ago and it's up there as one of my faves. I Always get complemented when i wear it. Very long lasting with great silage

Rosepowdery

Givenchy Very Irresistible opens with very sharp anise rose something, then changes to sweet anise rose. Anise is very prominent. If I had known the notes I wouldnt have tried. I am happy I have found this intriguing feminine sexy scent. I bought it in summer 2004 in Nice for the first time. I was so excited about this scent at that time. I usually wear it when I go out. Some reviever wrote that this is a head turner. I cannot agree more. People do ask about it often. Cannot be without it. Forever Very Irresistible. I find edt version as the best.

Intoxicatingly beautiful!! My forever signature.

My first real perfume, and I tested nearly everything in the store, and kept coming back to this. When I finally sprayed it on me, it was just the most amazing thing from start to finish.

It is NOT at all your run-of-the-mill floral, star anise is the star of the show ( pun intended). It is so unique and unusual and it's the first fragrance I have smelled this in and once you smell it, you cannot stop! ( I shouldn't have been smelling my arm driving down the highway on the way home), but you also get a certain level of spice that is just beautiful! I would say it's very mature and alluring, wouldn't call it "sexy" but men definitely love and have gotten great compliments from men describing it as "classy with an edge" and "tastefully done, one of the best women's fragrances they've smelled".

The rose is there, but it's not an old fashioned rose, or "old", it's a very youthful rose! Just detectable enough to make an intoxicating concoction.

It's sillage is amazing on me! I would say a good 6-7 hours and I still smell it later that evening if applied earlier in the morning.

Overall one of the best fragrances created. Initially tried because of Liv Tyler, but she got me hooked onto one of the best fragrances ever. When I go back and smell my old bottles, in between buying a new one, it takes me back to the day I bought my very first. Has the power to bring back so many memories ( as so many do).

If they ever stop making this, I will have a complete and total come-apart, and be the person hunting it online until I have a stock that will last me forever :)

It's worth every look and try!

Judy Loves Perfume

This is my favorite. It smells beautiful. I love fragrantica as well, I wish I would have found it sooner.
You should only buy this at Macy's or Nordtroms. I recently bought my 4th bottle from Ebay, and unfortunately it was fake. It was an artificial sweet smelling scent, nowhere near the original quality or refinement of the EDT or the EDP, which each are slightly different. It was easy to smell the difference between the fake and the original. Lesson learned.

eng_youstina2013

very floral and so delicate.

BihterAnneBoleyn

Sephora gifted me a small bottle of this a long time ago It's still full, I've used it a couple of times but I just don't like it at all. I mean It's nice yes but It's just not what I go for, too floral for my taste. I was excited when they gifted me this bc it looks like Absolutely irresistible. and i'm desperate for a bottle, I've never smelt it but i want it because my favorite character from my favorite show has it on her dresser lol I know that's silly. Anyways back to Very irresistible. It's okay when i smell it directly from the bottle and when sprayed in the air but it smells so horrible on my skin just disgusting. so I don't know I'll probably use it as an refreshener because i hate having perfumes sitting without being used. I am not that crazy about givenchy perfumes anyways. they tend to be so boring in my opinion.

engrengl

I tested this today, and while I am still very early into my perfume discovery, this was interesting.

On me, Very Irresistible reminds me a lot of my mother's signature scent, Oscar by Oscar de la Renta, even though they don't really share a lot of the same notes. However, the rosy floral is most of what I get from both. It's a nice scent, and my mother always smells nice, but it's not me.

This EDT did not last very well on me, either. Six hours, maybe, and then I was really having to sniff to get anything. Certainly not offensive, but just kind of an ordinary floral perfume. I might give it another shot, or perhaps for a different occasion.

ZBear

When Very Irresistible launched, I was in the target demographic and also a huge fan of Liv Tyler, so I purchased it and forced myself to like it.

The opening is nice - sweet roses and peony - but the dry down is a weird artificial woods that is quite sharp and intrusive.

I tried this again recently in the body lotion form, and had the same effect. I think nowadays, there are better "sweet rose" scents (ie. Chloe Roses or Fleur), and better peony scents (ie. Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet) in this price range.

Anyway, would definitely not purchase this now, though appreciate it as part of my "past."

Nikkafragrance

I had tested Very Irresistable maybe ten years ago and back then I considered it too sour. Yesterday I saw it and I thought I should try it again. When I smelled it, I was like "too spicy for my liking, it's like anise bomb. So I put the testing strip in my pocket. Two hours later I smelled it again and it was a gorgeous rosey perfume, incredibly feminine as said in the description. Now, almost 24 hours later the peony is really strong, mixed with creamy taif rose. Smells so beautiful and versatile at the same time, perfect everyday fragrance and for sophisticated formal events at the same time. IMO a woman would feel great wearing VI no matter she's 18 or 68 as long as she's craving beautiful rose scents. Since I am a huge rose fan, this goes straight to my want list.

Khariz

I love this perfume. Great longevity and sillage. This perfume is a head-turner.

chihchih

I don't know why... despite so many good reviews on this perfume and the fact it contains Peony, one of my favorite notes, I just don't really like this perfume. It is very long lasting and the scent has very good sillage; however, the character of the perfume just doesn't lift up any feeling or emotion for me. To me, it seems to be a perfume that smells like a perfume and that is it.

Eau de Nikita

I LOOOOOOVvvvE givenchy very irrisistible from day one. I can go on all day long about those top notes that I love. It's not a rosy fragrance to me. There's a hint of mint and anise sprinkled on some magenta colored rare rose. This will be a good wedding day perfume or I could imagine a city girl in black leather jacket with a floral skirt and magenta heels. Liv Tyler was just the right fit for these ads so just imagine her.
UPDATE: if I had to say anything negative I would say I wish the top notes lasted longer. The drydown can be a little popoouri Glade but u get nuances of the top notes here and there. To me this is better than estee Lauder Beautiful i recommend this for a wedding.

Iman Ali

This is my signature perfume! i love it so much, whenever i wear it, i get so many compliments! <3

esteban747

Rose and Anise.
At least on my skin, the Anise is predominant. And that actually creates a superb scent.
A nice, unexpected fragrance. This is the type of perfume that will get you noticed, not because of a loud or sweet scent, but simply because of the beautiful harmony of the notes.

diana_a_balan

Sexy, sexy, sexy!!! A perfect evening perfume if you go on dates. Makes you exactly like the name of the perfume, very irresistible! This is a perfume you should not wear daily, as it is coming on a little too hard. Use it, forget about it for some time, and then fall in love with it all over again!
9/10

vanillaandorange

Although this is predominantly a rosy perfume, I always think I can detect ginger in it (which is not listed as an ingredient) - it has a sharpness that makes it interesting. I like it on me and have had more compliments when wearing it than anything else, but I do find it lasts a very long time - almost a bit too long - I can still detect it after 2 days and 2 showers, which means not being able to wear a different perfume for that long! Also very instantly recognisable on anyone else due to its quite distinctive combination of rose and that spicy edge.

morghn

I can't handle it.

I had it as a kid, and it used to give me colds, bc of it's acid turn on my skin. My nose burnt so hard each time and because of my love of anis i would deal with it.

I kept the bottle in a shelf for 8 years, lost somewhere, it only got worse. I don't really get it, because i've smelt it on another friend who had it fit her skin so perfectly. It confused me so much..

but yeah now this perfume gives me headache and sore throat still .. Idk i've seen other reviews comment on the headache. It must be carefully sprayed, because easily the EDP turns into a too much (in my opinion)

i wonder how it'd go if i had chosen the EDT over the EDP.

marcela heredia

I'm trying and tryin looking for something that ireally like it about this givenchy but (sorry for what im gonna say) all that i can smell is a baby powder or maybe its too grown-up sweet for me, before i bought i got a sample on a paper, my mistake was doesn't try on my own skin, today i mixed with a Glam Jasmine and goes on way better, maybe that's gonna be the way for me to wear it

Ruffienne

Inoffensive but also very generic.
The 'rose' is more a rose concept than anything that actually resembles a rose.
The effect is more synthetic floral than rose-y.
Also the spicy element is far more cinnamon than anise (although both are present), to my nose at least.
Very synthetic in character.

It seems to be aimed at a very young market, I can't see an older woman wearing this with any degree of grace.

anakrine

Typical sweet floral perfume. Nice and unoffending, but nothing outstanding.

Kai'elle

Very sharp opening but quickly settled into a soft rose. Simple floral. I could detect absolutely no Anise. Very light and certainly nothing spectacular. Safe and inoffensive.

L: Low
S: Soft

Have mini...FB not on the cards.

Oriane

Very nice. I love the alliance between the rose and the lily of the valley, and the fruity facet given by the peach. Interesting use of the verbena : it softens the flowery and sugary notes. This perfume turns a bit powdery on my skin, it's charming.

One might regret a certain lack of originality as regards the composition, but this fragrance is a reliable companion which brings sweetness in life. It smells like a simpler version of Trésor by Lancôme (perhaps because of the peach / rose duet). That said, I was positively surprised when I tried it again. Admittedly, it has become common, but it still is lovely.

Sailor Pluto

Sweet and spicy fragrance, nice but underwhelming.
I don't get rose.. I get more sweet red licorice..

Adia31

I was testing this yesterday i don´t like on my skin fortunatly i had a sample i thought the acid smell became of an acid rose but readind the notes is the verbena is a powdery bitter sweet rose sweet thanks to anise i don´t like this one im my country is so common you can smell it at school on the bus...

Music_luver77

When I first purchased this I loved it. I find it to be a very unique and feminine scent. About halfway through my rollerball I started to get an instant migraine when smelling it. Not sure what note doesn't agree with me, but sadly I now hate this smell.

imenechanel

♥thisyesterday i bought it two of my college used to wer it and each one smell diffrent i dont understand why givenchy change the iits just rose nothing sexy or irresistible

AngelEuphoria

By the way, I know that Samara is made by a different manufacturer but I detect similiarities. I think it's the powdery base of both V.I. And Samsara

AngelEuphoria

Does anyone else feel this is a sister to or lighter version of Samsara? I like this one but like Samsara more (if lightly applied).

Jest

Yes you are right. I smell baby powder or baby oil. I don't smell hardly any of these notes listed.

Neckromancer

This is apparently THE stripper scent. It is soft and powdery, reminiscent of baby powder, which strippers use, along with baby wipes to stay fresh throughout the night. I found it inoffensive, but nothing special. I wouldn't mind receiving it as a gift, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.

purpleturtle

Sampled EDT version. Smelled good but was gone in an hour... Nothing special. Maybe EDP is a different story? Happy smelling! :)

GeorgiaMoxie

Be forewarned, I can be a rose snob so if I'm expecting rose and I get something different I can react badly. I tried this today intrigued by the promise of anise and rose and was completely underwhelmed. Looking at the notes I'm not sure how but the opening smells like sweet apple/pear drenched rose and I was immediately disappointed. Did Justin Bieber get his hands on this? It says it uses 5 variances along with peony so whatever that concoction is somehow radiates fruit.

Then as the heart opens the pear-like note settles and the anise emerges. I have anise oil, I wear Lolita Lempicka, I know what the stuff smells like and it is NOT the star here. There is NO pepper like in the more sophisticated rose fragrances to give it some depth. Magnolia tends to smell citrusy and peony is sweet fresh, lemon verbena is the aromatic note along with the cassis but cassis doesn't smell like apple/pears. I'm able to distinguish all of those notes. I just can't figure out where that fruit note is coming from.

My guess is one of the "fantasy" roses that don't exist in real life is what doesn't work for me (other Very Irrisistbles mention a "Liv Tyler" rose, whatever that is). This is not me, this is too sweet and an extremely safe rose fragrance created to entice young girls who love all things pink and fruity floral (and those seem to be the ones gushing about this fragrance). It takes about 4 hours before this finally dissipates into a faint rose that I wish had been more prevalent the whole time. Sorry poor little rose, you were buried in pink and now you linger like a whisper of what I hoped you'd be all along.

For an excellent anise rose try the 10 year anniversary edition.

pauroj

this one is really nice i get the anise, i don't smell so much rose but that is ok because anise is the star here and it is lovely it does have some undertones of greenery , sillage is ok it is good i like it it reminds me of mexico's candy it is called lagrimitas ( little tears) it is a very perfumy sugary pill and this one smells just like that without the rose , nice very nice

silvereye

30 October 2015

Way too sweet, cloying and headache inducing. Very strong and aggressive.

HanamiTsukimi

I wasn't blown over by this, but it's a good day-to-night feminine perfume to have in the arsenal. It's a spicy, musky rose... and I do love roses... with a strong dose of cassia, though not quite as strong a cassia as in Armani's Si. It lasted 12+ hours on me with good projection and, for an EDT especially, that's a pretty impressive performance.

Esperide

Rose and very soft spicy... for me it's the scent of a magical winter night! Pure love!

Little_dragon

I've been looking for a new rose scent as I slowly (and painfully) let go of my signature Miracle So Magic (Lancôme), which is being phased out. As this one is near the top of "People who like this also like..." for the MSM entry on Fragrantica, and the notes are fairly similar to those for MSM, I decided to give it a try.
It's the perfect kind of scent for me, as I find a straightforward or pure rose fragrance is almost always headache-inducing. I need rose with a twist, and I absolutely get it with Very Irresistible. This is now the front-runner to replace my beloved MSM when I can no longer get it. Hope Givenchy keeps this one around for a while!

Beusch

Is this perfume EDP? On the fragrantica.com I see the EDT version too,but by this is not documented the type of this. Thank you! :)

klb4556

This is by far the most BEAUTIFUL, addicting fragrance I have ever found in my 24 years.

I don't even know where to start. I only sought this out after finding out it was endorsed and worn by Liv Tyler and just gave it a go.

The whole way back from the store ( an hour drive) I had the cap in left hand and bottle in my right smelling it on the interstate ( I know, not safe). And every time I run out, I treasure what's left of the bottle.

The more it dried on my skin shopping in the store, I was addicted to it, ( I think the combo of Rose and Star Anise does this).

It dries into this gorgeous, lush scent that is not cloying or heavy, has great longevity with only one spray, and according to my boyfriend, he catches whiffs of it every once in a while, but it's far from too heavy or loud.

It's elegant, classy with a little sultry-ness and maturity without smelling anything close to old lady. It's perfect for a woman in her late teens through 30's without a doubt.

It's a brilliant fragrance, will always be my signature scent, and what's more is it's not that expensive for such a gold-mine find!

powdery

This is a nice fragrance.Very floral.Sensual and long-lasting as well.

ell_bee

Very Irresistible is a really pretty, young, kinda quirky take on a rose fragrance. It's ultra feminine with some sass thrown in. The rose is bright and super versatile, easily a day-to-night scent. Lasts a good 6-7 hours. Me likes!

fragrantperfumes

A sweet, peppery floral. Very long lasting. Probably the perfume I've received the most compliments for. It's technically an Eau de Toilette, but it has the longevity of a good perfume----not surprising as it's from the House of Givenchy.

nerolette

This is another one of those scents that I do like, but it's just not distinctive or interesting enough for me. The drydown is nicer than the initial spray, which is a bit sharp, but even so the rose/berry/soap mix isn't complex enough to make me feel special when I wear it. That said, of the various version of Irresistible that Givenchy has released, this is certainly the most mature of the bunch, so if I had to compare between them I'd choose this over the rest.

canadianpetite

I agree with Sasco. I liked this years ago when it came out but when I sniff it now, I find it too strong and aggressive. I smell the rose but the rest of the notes make me turn my head and hold the bottle as far away from me as possible. It is too sharp. A very unpleasant experience. I can only spray this on a tissue or fabric and take small whiffs.

One spray on me
Sillage: unfortunately, at least two feet
Longevity: the rosy scent about an hour then sharp, piercing middle and bottom notes for next three hours
Rating: 1/5

Elreno22

I am not finding this too sweet. Floral and raspberry but elegant. Nothing heavy about this one...very grown up. It could easily be a favorite. I received my first bottle today, but unfortunately the top piece is broken and I have to return. Im disappointed to have to wait for a replacement. I will buy again for sure!

victoria.mei1992

It's very similar to gucci rush 2. Has the same rose moss drydown. Like roses in the woods. My favorite.

janetpolelondon

lovely.

stacia79

Co-Worker: "Today you smell like the inside of a department store!"

Me: "Oh geez"

Co-Worker: "No, it's nice, I like it"

The jury is still out on whether this is a good or a bad thing. I am happy with Very Irresistible but a little bit goes a long way and perhaps it smells too mainstream? It's girlish, I will wear it on romantic dress days.

Sasco

I'm fascinated by the mixed reviews on this one, because I bought this YEARS ago, and remember being completely gaga for it; I thought it was gorgeous - feminine, unique and very, very sexy. My mum, on the other hand, would always pull the collar of her sweater over her nose whenever I wore it, and declare it "absolutely vile" ( my sister and I nickname her 'Frankie', because she is so.....FRANK)! I tried it at a perfume counter about a year ago, and just couldn't 'get' the scent I once adored. It smelled like rose talcum powder that had been left on a bathroom shelf for too long; very sweet floral, with a sort of damp, musty undertone that I couldn't quite name. Perhaps I'd been wearing hand lotion, or had used some scented soap or something that caused it to smell so different, because I used to adore it - I will have to try it again to be sure!

MadeiraD

Sweet strong wet rose. This is like eating raspberry jam in a rose garden that's blooming full blast on a morning where everything's still just a touch dewey. Glorious.

MartaL

I have heart that Very Irresistible Givenchy is popular by celebs. True fact that it is in a way distinctive and glamorous. Spicy, bold and sexy. The person who wears this must be confident enough to make an entrance. If you are looking for something nice and easy to wear, keep looking.

chanka

Its long time i had this one..
I dont remember the smell, i think nice
But what i remember it provoked cough and haviness anytime i sprayed it on me..
There must be something i am maybe intolerant..
I felt iron in my throught...
Maybe only too strong, too sweet

adhucvivo

This perfume and my body chemistry did not mix. It smells like self tanner and the only good thing I can say is that it has some serious staying power because it's been on for hours now and it is all I can smell. My husband said I smell "disgusting" D: needless to say I'll be returning this for something else.

DarlingNikki

I smelled this in both a magazine and in a store some time later and both times I was drawn closely in only to be repelled by something underneath the softness that smelled utterly unclean. It's almost as if a woman sprinkled some rose scented powder in her underwear after some rigorous activity rather than taking a proper shower. Forgive me for the visual that may create, but that's the scent I'm getting from this. There is something fetid here, almost rancid or fecal. It could well be the rose since I know roses can carry a fecal undertone to them. A shame really because from a distance, this is an otherwise lovely scent. Up close and on my skin however it's a huge no-no.

indigo_est

AMAZING fragrance! I use to spray just a bit and it would last for hours. Its sweet/floral scent is simply DELICIOUS! It's a good fit for anyone whether young or not so young. Highly recommendable.

missgingertulips

No,no, no no, big fat no. On my skin it smells like earwax.

PLUMPIE

Powdery, creamy rose scent but too sweet for me. I prefer the L'intense version and the absolutely irresistible (this one doesn't smell much like this one at all). A step up from most other modern creations which are saccharine sweet and a must try for rose fans.

Hewlett

This was my signature scent when I was 16-20. Emptied one bottle after another, and my grandmother always knew what to give me at my birthday - this perfume!

I never really get the rose, on me it is more warm, spicy and sweet. Very delicious! I truly love this scent, really love, love, love!!!

Whenever I wear this scent I feel comfortable, loveable and sexy. Just can't stop sniffing my wrists, this is truly very irresistible.

To me this is exclusively an evening /going out scent. Very long lasting and great (one might say overwhelming) sillage .

Too heavy on me to use in the summer, but luckily I've got a flanker which supposedly is made for those sunny warm days. I don't remember the name right now, but it might pop up if you search for "very irresistible'. It is a frosted pink bottle with white flowers printed on.

Edit: the summer edition I mention is the one called "summer sorbet ".

aidaa

I dont like floral scents and mostly prefer gourmands but I very much liked this one that suprised me. I think there is more than rose in this fragnance. Powdery, creamy and very long-lasting on me. I loved it

Elisewin

La rosa non si sente molto, si sente principalmente la profumazione fresca della verbena.
Non mi fa impazzire, ma ho notato che tutti attorno a me lo adorano.

sleepy*weasel

Ghastly. Where do I start? It gave me an immediate heachache, within a minute. I gave it 2 hours in case it improved, but the scent just gradually disappeared. Then I took a shower and put on something decent instead. Givenchy, be ashamed of yourself for peddling this chemical rubbish. I binned my sample and was thankful I hadn’t spent any money on it. If you get this as a gift, don’t inflict it on the drains. Just chuck it in landfill and hopefully in a thousand years the Earth will have neutralised its vile chemical soup. Just awful. To think Givenchy has discontinued perfectly decent scents, but inflicted this on us instead. Next!

Fluffyandpuffy

I just love this one. It's very sweet and floral, feminine even romantic. Wish it lasted longer on me.

Sabrina_A

MAGICAL, that's all I have 2 say :)

Peachysugarbuns

Dang, Dominique Ropion is such a badass. He can create a deep, intense fragrance like Thierry Mugler Alien and a playful rose scent like Givenchy Very Irresistible and every kind of fragrance in between!

A young co-worker was wearing Very Irresistible at work recently and it smelled charming on her. The sweet roses really work for someone with an effervescent personality and, boy, the fragrance projects even though I wouldn't consider it a "heavy" rose at all! It's a fun one!

jessora

Had this when it first came out and loved it! Very crytallic and fresh with lots of roses. But something happened. The more I wore it, the more it made me annoyed and feeling repressed, with cloying tendrils around my throat. I ended up swapping it away and not a moment too soon. The first fragrance that literally turned on me. I am an anise fan when combined with spices or orientals but I think with the florals the anise just warped.

If you want to make something look pink, for example, you should offset it with something that is not pink. In this case, if you want something floral to stand out, don't submit it surrounded with 20 different variations of florals and roses and more florals. Just too much of one thing maybe? Although it could be the cassis, that is not a fragrance I could on its own detect. Really not sure what the offending note was but when enough occurred, I couldn't get rid of this fast enough.

missafrica

Super feminine, delightful to wear - love it!

Lilium86

It's not bad on my skin, it reminds me Dior Addict but with a strong anice note that annoying me

Edit: I really like this perfume now, the dry down is very warm and unique.

polkadot27

Beautiful floral dominant rose scent. It has a very pink feel to it, sometimes reminds me of Barbie for some reason. But such a pretty feminine fragrance. I like it, I will buy it if I see it going at a discounted price. It is floral rose, but also has a sort of herbal smell that makes it aromatic, and rather long lasting.

Arlene-Beatrix

On my skin it smells like intense lemon verbena mixed with a bit of rose. Not my cup of tee.

mihaela.rosca2

I had this perfume for 3 years and never got bored of it!!! Is very soft and elegant.

mooglebuns

I can smell a kind of root beer scent on my skin when I first spray this on, not strong root beer like hypnotic poison, just a light fluffy after taste, maybe it's anise.

This is a very interesting rose to me. It's not one dimensional, I assume from the blend of five different types. I can smell the creamy magnolia in this as well.

It's very soft, but not to the point of wondering where it went if your nose isn't directly against your skin.

Very pretty. Floral. Clean without being aquatic, which can sometimes kill a clean scent for me. Just gorgeous.

I like that Liv Tyler is the face for this, as I can see Arwen Undomiel smelling like this naturally.

Sylvie-Aus

Ok, I think I have the right one, off the very irresistible collection. I am not a rose fragrance lover, well I should say my skin is not a rose compatible, but what a plaisant surprise , I love that one ! I don't get the usual and unfortunate rose scent , on me it is a fresh floral even fruity, how lovely ! Not powdery nor stuffy, which is what normally happens when I associate roses scents and my skin. Nice sillage and longevity,

llleticia

What is the difference between the boxes of old and new versions?
It's just because i' don't know how to distinguish these two versions on the store... thanks

pollita

wonderful and exquisite. this one is the perfume you could wear in bed, on a trip to Sahara, Thailand or New York. timeless and proper for any moment. I am in love with this perfume. It is a soft and creamy, but also very very chic scent. French and sophisticated. It's not the femme fatale perfume. It is beyond the commune sexiness. This is absolutely unique and irresistible. A true feminine value.

wvdisnut

Initially, this perfume is extremely intoxicating and beautiful. The delicious floral fragrance lasts for about a half hour. In the next hour it still remains fairly strong but begins to change with the dry down. What is left is an irritating spicy carnation type smell that must be the anise in it. It lasted for hours until I couldn't stand it anymore and tried to wash it off. It is so strong that it would not wash off with the first wash, nor the second, even after scrubbing the area with strong soap. Why are only the irritating perfumes ones that stick like glue??

Fizzy

First 5 minutes you smell a delicious sweet sour cocktail with fruits and woods. After this beautiful 5 minutes comes the creamy dry down and stays about 3 hours. It just smell like a bit rancid cream.

amywamywoo

My sister's scent, smells beautiful on her. If i see it going cheap, it's a done deal.

Romantic, super feminine, powdery and perfect!

Evanilla

I like this, but it sometimes seems to strong or heavy.

ScarlettX

It's a fresh rose scent in a cute pink bottle. I think a little too basic for me. I like more powdery and sweet rose scents.
I think it's feminine, light and moderate.
It's amazing how many different rose scents there are.

carolinaesp

I have an interesting experience with this perfume.

10 years ago I smelled it on a friend and immediately loved it, but as I was only 14, I felt I wasn't "ready" to pull it off. Last year I got the chance to test it on my skin, before going on a night out. It was fine until 20 minutes later, when the scent started to be so overpowering that I was on the subway and had to scrub it off, I almost choked with the smell!

But I wasn't put off by this though. I purchased the roll-on version, which is almost a sample as it's so small and as soon I put it on, it was SO different from the full bottle version... the roll-on smells just like the scent I fell in love with years ago.

It's softer, but still the lasting power is great. I live in a tropical country and my skin is mostly oily. Many perfumes tend to get a strong unpleasant/chemical scent on me through the day (either that or I sweat it all off), but this one remained intact even after 5 hours, smelling just like when I put it on. I'm still trying to find a signature scent and I probably won't wear this for forever, but I know for sure that Very Irresistible makes me feel like my age (I'm in my early 20s) and womanly.

Usually I hate sweet scents, but Very Irresistible has a subtle sweetness that agrees with my nose. It's creamy, warm, floral. I wonder if the bigger bottle has something stronger in its composition... if that's the case, then I'll only buy the roll-on version from now on.

Capricious Capricorn

This is the creamiest rose I know of, and I've tried tons of roses. It has had a place in my heart since the early 2000s. A classic and can't get over all the flankers listed here! Check them out.

galaxy86

If I had to choose what I would want to wear for my wedding, I would choose this. It is a beautiful delicate linear fragrance. Nothing too complicated about it. Just plain delicate, fragile and elegant beauty.
I love this perfume.

pikachunicorn

So springy and feminine. It's innocent yet mature.

Mellyhelly

I still love this perfume and its ed p version after many years.
It's romantic and optimistic, easy to wear and versatile it smells so rosey and feminine with a gentle spicy edge. This is not too compicated nor niche but it goes with everything and smells classy enough. A winner.

caros76

Loved this in my 20s, but think I outgrew it. Very sweet and floral. It is lovely, but I've moved on.

Dee5

This is an elegant fragrance. Another OMG one. It doesn't last all day - gives me a good 5 hours. I currently have a sample for testing but this is definitely going on my 'must buy' list.

michellexoxo

I absolutely love this fragrance! I've been wearing it for almost 4 years now. It has a strong sweet floral smell, so I could see how many people would dislike it. But I don't think its overpowering or overly sweet. It's fresh and feminine and I wear it during any time of day. When you first spritz it, you get a strong sweet smell, which can seem a bit overpowering. But it eventually fades and within an hour, settles to a beautiful rose scent. The dry down consists of a musky-leafy residue still mixed in with the middle rose note. It is a beautiful and unique scent, but won't be everyone's cup of tea. It really depends on how it mixes with your skin.
Also, I find that when spraying a perfume directly on the skin, a fragrance can smell really strong. So I prefer spraying the fragrance in the air and then waltzing into it.

Marie76

I can't understand this is so popular. I got this as a gift and gave it away. It was heady, way too spicy, with a frank ugliness to it. It smelled musky in a bad, bad way. With no nice floral or creamy note to elevate or sedate it. I also happen to think the bottle design is desperate. Really not for me at all.

Cece.A

I tested this sometime back and really liked it. I would so want to have it.

Nottinghillbelle

This gives me a headache. Not ok

Kayse

Wonderful things are sometimes not appreciated the first few times you try them...and then they become addictive, that's my experience with Very Irresistible! It's a FRESH and vibrant rose, the perfect summertime rose garden captured in a bottle that garners many compliments. This one is worth a few tries, and is stunning in warm weather.

VERYlibby

I bought this perfume probably about 6 years ago mainly because Liv Tyler was the face forit and I adore her. Luckily this scent is SEXY! I've come to realize that a scent might smell great in the bottle, on paper, ect but once its on the skin..it can sort of change. This scent, beautiful, smells EVEN BETTER once I put it on. I have found my the perfect scent for my bodies chemistry! A+++!
Are there any cigarette smokers out there who are users of Very Irresistible that noticed (this is weird i know) that the tobacco and smoke smell great with this!!
I keep a roller ball in my car and I have pulled it out a few time to let different male friends of mine give it a smell and tell me what they thought of it..all had the SAME response...Thats really Sexy, what is it?
They could not have given the scent a better name or a better model/actress for the face of it. This is defenitly the most grown up, sexy, alluring, black and pink lace decorated bourdoir, wanna get lucky, feminine (not girlie) -scent I own!

naaym.agecra

I just got this perfume today, I sprayed one on my wrist and laid down for a power nap. So funny, I woke up with my 4yr old daughter sniffing on my wrist hahaha! And she kept on sniffing on it and said... " Wow, mommy your perfume smells very goood! I love it." :D
And now I can't wait for my husband's reaction later when he gets home :)

matereac9

i have had to mark as "had" because i had to give this away. i had a mini of it a while back and liked it (the kind of mini bottle you get in gift sets). but when i bought the full size, i don't know if they changed it, or if i got an odd batch that happened to smell nicer than the intended scent, but it wasn't nice. overpowering and flowery for me. i know it's notes are mainly floral, but it was the kind of flowery you'd expect from a 50's powder room. takes your breath away, in the sense that it chokes you.
really not one i would go near again.

Princess Adora

I use to have this and consider this one of my favourites, it is a rose scent but not that old fashion powdery rose that you may find in other fragrances like the old yardley one,it has a sweetness and modern smell to it that makes it stand out from the other rose based fragrances also it lasts a long time on your skin, the only downside is that the design of the bottle however lovely makes you spray a lot so you run out of this quicker if you use it a lot but overall a wonderful perfume and would still like to repurchase.

LisaMari

Disappointing, I had high hopes for this perfume but it just smells like cheap hair dye - I detect a warm ammonia type fragrance and some cheap dark fruits, like glace blackcurrant - boring.

mp2491

In the bottle, this smells like soap. And on me, it still smells of soap. I still like it though. It's weird. I can't really make up my mind about this one. I have the body wash of this fragrance and I love it more than the perfume.

sophiatwli

Somehow this perfume reminds me a lot of Dior's J'adore, even though they don't share the same notes. It's a very clean, powdery, sweet perfume. It is, without a doubt, a very classy perfume. It reminds me of my grandma, but in a good way (whose signature perfume is J'adore). This perfume is for the nice, good girls who like pale pink dresses and pearls.

rula ajjan

Well... its name says it all its very irresistible. All men love it and you will always get compliments when you wear it. Girls this perfume could change your life it could be your enchanted spell... very sexy very angelic very you very irresistible ;)

Liebetx

Tested this today with high hopes of it being another rose scent I could fall in love with. And fall in love, I certainly did. For about 10 minutes.

The opening is everything I hoped for with Very Irresistible. Big, lush rose flavor rounded out with a warm spicy woodiness that somehow remained fresh. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist. Sadly, that lovely rose scent faded quickly into a woody powdery Blah note that reminded me of scents from the late 80s, early 90s. 2 hours later: Powdery Woody Blah + Magnolia = Southern Grandma or Aunt. Actually, it reminds me exactly of something my Aunt wears.

To sum up;: fantastic opening, "meh" dry down. Totally forgettable and so glad I didn't buy a bottle immediately.

I'll stick with Stella.

lollsazz

I gave this away. First it opens with something beautiful, sexy, yummy, so I begin smelling the air around me to inhale all of these pleasant notes... but suddenly something appears that smells sickening to me. I have tried this perfume several times, and always gotten the same result. I absolutely hate this fragrance... I would be happy to know the one ingredient that ruins this to forever avoid it in the future... and yes, there is only one ingredient in this that totally ruins it for me. I suspect it might be the anis. I don't like this neither on myself nor others. The smell of this is very easily recognizable and I want to cover my nose every time I smell this on someone, which, luckily, happens rarely.

djuzz.becuzz

The anise note comes off strong in the opening, it settles after some minutes after which the rose shines through.
Soft, subtle spiced rose fragrance with good sillage & longevity.
Not a favorite of mine, because I am not really a fan of anise in perfumes. However, in this one it's subtle, warm and rather alluring in the dry-down.
♥♥♥

Meadowberg

The anise is the dominant note for me in this fragrance. It adds an interesting spicy twist to what could otherwise have been just another rosy floral. Instead it is far from bland - it's strong yet soft, warm and elegant.

The longevity is impressive - one spray has lasted me 7 hours +.

One of those where you can't stop smelling your wrist so, yes, it lives up to its name!

Jenge

I wore this exclusively in the early 2000`s until I used up my whole bottle. I thought it very warm, inviting and feminine then. Sampled it today and it brought a smile to my face.

Now, I think it opens as a warm floral with a light rose note, but well blended with the other notes, and not an obvious heavy rose bomb. As it dries it becomes a little more cool, powdery, and even a little green. It smells clean and soapy, too. It starts to warm up a little again and lose some of the "greenness", but stays decidedly floral throughout.

A pretty, daytime stroll through the park. Sweet and fresh, but it could become cloying if applied too heavily.

temo

Something about this fragrance just says to me "all is well with the world". It's not "knock your socks off fabulous", but to my nose it's appropriate anywhere, anytime, and it's soothing. I always get complimented on it when wearing it. I seem to detect a fresh mint smell right off the top for just a few minutes, before the rose kicks in. This is like aromatherapy for me.

BeautifulDynamite

Very surprised by this. On the tester strip it smelled heavenly. On me I smell beautiful, sweet roses, and the anise gives it a nice edge. Strange thing is...I pick up a very sweet note...almost candy like. Strange, because I don't see any candy or sugar notes in the composition. I think that's what makes it a very young smell. I'm 23, but I prefer scents with a little more...."oomph". Don't get me wrong, I love gourmand scents, but with character.

Lovely scent, just not for me. :)

soosoo68

For me, this was a bit heavy and strong. I may be in the mature category age wise, but this seemed more mature than I care for. It also gave me a headache. I do prefer cleaner, lighter, sometimes sweeter scents though. Sadly, this did not work for me. It does last a REALLY long time though. Quite impressive for an EDT.

mad.kat.96

Had a small sample vial.. A very nice floral, not too light or too heavy, unfortunately a tad too much rose for my taste to buy, but would wear occasionly if I did have it because it is very good.

kapek

I was doing my job while I smelled this. I thought omg what smells here so raunchy like chilli peppers, haha sorry for my bad nose but really I do smell chilli peppers here, probably the anis-rose combo, very spicy. I needed immediately to know what it is. Than I saw this bottle and since that I want it, I need to smell it sooo bad. Givenchy is my favourite house because it doesn;t produce any rubbish, it always smells so inviting, unique, memorable and I dare to say that it smells sexy. I don;t use this word, but here I must. Givenchy captures the energy and the playful side, it has always some "sex-appeal", something what forces you to remember it. I already have Hot Couture, which is just so luscious. But back to this master piece. The start smells little fruity and soft but quickly turns to this spicy, heady anis-rose combo. It smells wonderful and lasts a long time, there;s some magnolia which smells silky and wrapps the rose with its calming aroma, I can smell something little green, it could be the verbena which reminds me of lime peel here.. (You know maybe my weird nose again.. :D) And hints of cassia perhaps. The name was aptly chosen, if you ask me. It;s very, absolutely, genuine irresistible. If you look for a heavy rose with a spice, for what else you;re waiting for. This is masterpiece. Great sillage, exactly for fun night out, for some provocative and seductive moments, nothing shy, incredibly hot and exactly for seductress. :-) I would use it in colder temps, since it;s very heavy and better to use with a light hand.
For me this scent is a female agent provocateur.

AnnaBarbz

I wore this perfume in my late teens and truly believed luck came my way every time I wore it! Seriously any date I'd go on I'd get guys kissing my feet complimenting me all over. It was a love spell in a bottle. I feel it's a seductive smell and not for a little girl the rose really stands out and makes it uber feminine. I'd buy it again to test my luck theory.

juanamartula

i never wear it. but when someone is wearing it i think is the yummiest scent ever! wanna buy it!

jeanbean7777

Elegant when sprayed lightly on a summer night. To me, this is a romantic woman's day to night perfume. I do think the notes bloom more in summer. Sweet roses, fresh garden like with a kick of spice that will light up the summer night air. Very classy. Just don't overspray or you will ruin this. I don't wear this all the times and sometimes I don't like it but when it works it really works. Quite classy.

marwa.qoura

P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N from the Master house of class and creativity Givenchy ..I noticed something very rare & unique about Givenchy perfumes , they are true to their names ..! ..Organza is like a silky , expensive ,chic dress , Amarige is "Happily ever After .." and Very Irresisitable is really IS very Irresistable ..Unlike most perfumes the floral is the base notes while green /earthy ones are the top .. The base notes are strong sensual Taif rose (which I love & know by heart from my childhood , my uncle used to grow them in his Villa's garden :) middle notes are the romantic- but not so innocent magnolia & rose while the perfume opens up with the green fresh notes , this is an "upside down" pyramid of notes to give you that special irresisitable woman vibes ..As a reviewer here noted this screams WOMAN but not in a cheap sexy hooker like way , this is a smoking hot sexy but still a classy woman , you may think of it like :" Fire under Ice" ..Trust me this is the ideal date perfume which will make a guy fall for you immediately but he would NEVER think of you as being "cheap" ;)

Save M

it's modern, uncommon and playful. A marvellous Givenchy's fragrance. Very Irresistible is perfect in summertime, with its exotic coconut aroma ( I agree with some others below ) which embraces its heart of roses. Definitely a different conception of roses.
Perfect during hot evenings.

Chicagobelle

It's a nice fragrance but it's very strong to me; a little goes a long way. Very good lasting power as well. I do not get any rose from this though. Great perfume for a romantic evening. Easy on the spraying though.

SophieJ

Tried a sample this morning...Rose and powder.. maybe a bit too much powder. The topnotes are pure baby powder. After an hour or so it tames down into a decent rose scent. Not really a fresh rose or a mature rose, just a fake, plasticky powdery rose. Definitely not my favorite scent, won't be buying a bottle.

anna.glowacka

Straight from the sample vial it smells beautiful, elegant, fresh and just stunning. But as soon as applied on my skin it becomes green and rose turns soapy.
In the dry down there is nothing left but anise just like candies for sore throat. Not really in love with that one.

dinhhamy

I smelled a lot of coconut and roses, so beautiful

millie1980

If you want to smell girly yet modern, this is how to do it. It's not complex or sophisticated, but I think a cut above many floral-fruity/gourmand frags aimed at younger women :-)

I think this would work well on cold, cloudy days and in the winter, when you need a pick-me-up in the morning. Or a girly shopping trip. But you could wear anytime really.

Ok...actually, the dry down is lovely on my skin, still faintly sweet, but also surprisingly elegant. Wonderful :-)

gangel04

This perfume screams woman to me. I love it. It's my go to for special occassions. On first spray it's rosey and then later in the day you smell more of the anise/lemon seeping through. It lasts a long while and isn't particularly overpowering (on my skin anyway). This isn't my goto day perfume because i prefer a softer sillage. This is definitely at least a medium sillage if not heavy.
I've made a habit of brning at least one of my sisters into my reviews for an all around "how does it work on different skin types," so why stop now? This is one of those perfumes that smells pretty good on all of us, though their impressions are that the sillage is heavy and the scent is more for an evening out than a daytime celebration. On their skin the scent comes off a little more floral while on mine it's slightly spicier.
Bottom line: this is a perfume that Maybe someday will make it on my daily list, but for now takes the no. 1 spot as a special occassion perfume. This is something that, unless my skin chemistry changes drastically in the future, i will be buing indefinitely.

ver jaina

rose, spice/anise combination. it smells flowery warm. smells quite nice in the air & becomes weird & horrid on my skin, hence i only spray on clothes. best to use during the cooler morning at work. i dont think it's elegant, or smells professional for the matter...but it's not too 'ordinary'. it;'s one of the 'wear for yourself' type of fragrance.
i had a mini of this & wont be interested to buy a larger bottle.

2nd review - i actually a bit trigger happy with my decant spray so it lasts long on my shirt. i wear it when i was working night shift, & this is not too bad! i kinda liked it :D it gives me a modern vibe...so to be really sure i bought again another mini, before i invest in a proper huge bottle :p

Miss Mego

This is just one of those scents that I feel indifferent to. I don't dislike it but I don't really like it that much either. Very Irresistible is pleasant, slightly sweet and very floral. I smell the rose most dominantly on my skin and the dry down is clean and a bit soapy. Very Irresistible doesn't really have a 'wow' factor and it smells a bit ordinary to me. It's a light scent and longevity is minimal (3-4 hours). I think if I liked rose notes more I might be more excited about this but I'll skip buying a full-bottle.

magickmaven

I was pretty surprised to see the rose notes in this one since my experience with it was that it had a very sweet plummy scent to it. Berries, plums.... That was my experience with this fragrance.

So. It didn't work for me so much and I ended up giving it to what is now my ex mother in law. She loves it.

fensismeksi

Fuj, bljak!!!

cdanio

I wore this scent today for a morning out with my husbandand children. I quite like it. it smelled quite crisp on me and remimded me of a cool icy morning. I liked it a lot for a nice time out with family, it didnt have much sillage but I don't really like a lot unless I'm our for a party or sexy night. I will definitely be buying more of this fragrance!

charmedbella

This has been one of my favorite perfumes. I don't get the strong rose notes. To me it's very warm, spicy, and slightly sweet. An elegant fragrance that could work day or night, summer or winter. It's effortless and extremely underrated. It doesn't try too hard.

evesoho

This rose is not heavy. Neither is it strong in this fragrance compared to Stella by Stella McCartney or even Moroccan Rose by The Body Shop. Although I can smell the rose, honestly, I get Magnolia more! The anise gives the "warm" element that the company describes in their marketing. . . but again I'm at odds - the scent is overall a little on the cool side *for a rose scent*. If this is warm, then Stella is too hot to wear!

Update: 30 minutes in... it really warms up. The lemon verbena still adds a little ice cream to the pie. . . or rather a little cool morning dew on the petals.

There is a prettiness to it, and a distinct elegance customary for the great house of Givenchy. It can be worn any time of year, at night for any mood and occasion.

belluna

poooh, to much, yak, like an old grandmother

filmoyster

Very Irresistible is a light, clean, fresh floral. After wearing it for a day, I don't think it is the one for me due to the lack of rose and my desire for other notes. I found:

Within the first five minutes:
- No rose scent.
- General floral smell
- Licorice (anise)
- The anise is very interesting, it balances the floral

An hour later:
- Rose emerges slowly to me
- Not what I define as rose scent

6/10 rating
*5/10 headache factor - gave me a headache.

bond_girl1979

One of my close friends has this. Ah, bless, I don't have the heart to tell her it disappears after 15 minutes and she may as well have not bothered to spray anything at all. It is a light scent designed to smell feminine and couture, soft, spicy, pink roses. Suits Liv Tyler's porcelain skin and sensitive, elegant features.

ninius

My skin picks up the anise too much. I hate it. I'm glad I blind bought just a miniature.

gabygol

It was a gift from my latest boyfriend, and honestly, he gained points by choosing the right one for me. It is sexy, elegant, long lasting and charming. Love the peony and the rose. It is lovely!!!

Athanasia2702

Perfect. Free from sexual allusions, gives you a feel of freedom and openness.

Wearing this for myself, makes me feel happy, comfortable, sympathetic and clear!

minty

Something in this perfume makes me irresist to wash it off. Not my cup of tea.

wyrdlam

With all the different rose scents in this fragrance, I knew this was going to be floral and sweet. I tested the eau de toilette, and it comes out strong, but eventually settles down after the first 30 minutes, so I don’t consider it overwhelming or overbearing. I love the smell of roses in fragrances, so I was looking forward to smelling it.

I can smell the peony mixed with the other floral notes. My nose doesn’t actually pick out the particular scent of roses, but I do smell a bouquet of white flowers with the star anise giving it a bit of depth. With the exception of the last 1-2 hours, this EDT experiences very subtle transformations on my skin—I smell the same bouquet of flowers all the way through. There’s not much complexity or uniqueness. I don’t mind that it’s not complex because many of my favorite perfumes are simple, but this smells pretty generic.

Towards the end, there is something warmer that emerges. I’m unsure what it is, but it smells a lot like amber. Whatever it is, it adds a tad bit of complexity to what I consider a practical fragrance. By “practical” I mean the scent is safe and pleasant and can be worn daily when there aren’t any special plans. It actually smells a lot like hand soap to me. Expensive hand soap, but hand soap nonetheless.

I think it would be nice to wear in the spring/summer. It lasted many hours on my skin. I find it a little boring, but it’s feminine, youthful, and can be worn daily. I don’t consider this sophisticated or sexy. The way I think of this fragrance is similar to what I think of its bottle--it's pretty and girlish and playful, but not that interesting. Although it’s pleasant and I like smelling it, it’s not special enough for me to buy a bottle. Maybe I would have better luck with the eau de parfum or one of its flankers. 3/5

bailarina

This is a beautiful rose perfume that other people notice. I love it. I don't even care much for rose, but in this one is good and kind of sophisticated.

Ninkin

Well, I would honestly expect more from Givenchy. The scent is just... OK. I do own it, because I do feel like wearing something simple once in a while. It's a nice, light, uncomplicated scent, not suffocating or overwhelming in any way, not very warm... I would describe it as a "cool rose" . That said, after a couple of hours it starts producing some metallic-y note... like tin or something. Weird.

poopinthepoop

This and vera wangs princess are my signatures. I love to mix it up between the two. This scent is so perfect i absolutely adore it.

i can not say that i love it enough.

neciaczerniecki

this is quite a lovely floral concoction, but alas with most givenchy frags it bothers me after a few hours. and with good longevity, this is a problem. for swap. n. america only

JasmineNikole

I love this perfume but it just doesn't last long on me.

twilight1234

like this, though it could be a bit less strong as sometimes it gives me a headache.

colorblindlove

Not my type of scent at all but I don't think I would mind it if I smelled this on someone else. I think that the powdery scent in this turns me off because I hate anything powdery.
In fact, this scent kinda reminds of me of baby powder with a Rose scent.

UPDATE 12/6/2012: I'm starting to like this scent a little :) But I'm still not going to buy it because it reminds me of my friend who is a perfume snob and she only wears "expensive perfume". Whatever lol. And I don't want to smell like someone else.

lollah25

sorry in my last comment i meant not over-the-top sweet...

lollah25

one of my first perfumes.. totally loved it!!! everyone around asked what was my fragrance.. feels girly, fancy and sweet, but over-the-top sweet, a gentle feminine touch of sweetness... just saying it worked for me, plus I live in a hot weather zone, maybe that helped...

diana.barrientos

I love it, so refined and sexy !!! Great quality
