Very delicate myrrh with lots of herbal notes and some aromatic nuances. It also had soft patchouli with somewhat jammy undertones (rose, I guess). It’s super nice, but seems very light and I believe it disappears quite quickly (which it is not cool at all considering the price tag).

I found this Myrrhe Eglantine very pleasant.

To me, there was a smell of indefinable sweet spices associated with an airy floral note, also very soft.

I was expecting to find something close to nutmeg or at least a mixture of spices in the pyramid (which however does not seem complete) but I guess it is indeed the myrrh which brings that spicy side.

Softness and lightness are the key words here.

A very pretty perfume but, again, definitely not worth the price.

A miserly Caron Parfum Sacré wannabe. Meh.

omg this is so good! the rose smells so natural, and the drydown is all about myrrh with the rose still there somewhere in the background. its simple in its composition yet still feels complex and well put together. i love it so much

Trying this on as I received it when I purchased Ambre Narguile, though I'm not sure why. Just a weak rose fragrance so the name makes no sense. Definitely not my vibe.

I hate this. I think it's the first Hermessence that I've truly disliked.

The rosey opening is fine, and the glint of myrrhe in the base is fine - but the rest is problematic. I don't know if there's a new captive on the market that smells like honey (see Guerlain's Harvest Neroli *gag*), or if it's just an illusion, but I find it sickening.

It's also more potent than expected. If I smelled this on someone else I'd move away. Big disappointment, and NOT a safe blind buy, even if most reviews seem to emphasize the rose.

violeteme

The name seems misleading as the myrrh note is somewhere in the corner. This is very rosy, very floral, almost aquatic, myrrh only adds a hint of warmth. It still stays very subtle, not a dense warm perfume at all.

Unique *****

This is so different that it merits five stars for originality. I wear perfume for myself around the house. I wouldn’t wear Lush Blend for those rare occasions when I’m out in public—except on the beach, for it invokes the scent of salt, sand, and seaweed. If you’re looking for a crowd pleaser, pass it up. If you’re looking for interesting—then, by all means, especially if you’d like a classy rendition of the briny ocean.

Hermessence Myrrhe Eglantine Hermès: I really like this fragrance. Beautifully blended. Each note is softly executed. Extremely wearable. Not much staying power and no sillage. Waaaaaaay overpriced but that’s because it’s Hermès. You’re paying for the brand on top of the juice production. My recommendation is absolutely to try it. You may have more luck with its longevity.

Pez_Enelrio

it is more of a rose scent i would say 70%-30%
Unusual combination of this fresh rose mixed with myrh usually used in warmer fragrances but they seem to work well together, yet overpriced

Wow this was an instant LOVE for me. A fresh juicy sweet aromatic rose scent unlike anything I have smelled before. It’s very fresh and aromatic , warm , sweet and tart goodness . It’s not a dark perfume. I do not smell myrrh at all. At least not in the traditional way. I smell juicy and fresh fruity roses in a bubble bath .
I have osmanthus , violet and now eglantine. As well as the musk perfume oil. They are all very well done and amongst my favourite perfumes I own. But eglantine gets a 10 out of 10 !!! Superb !!!

Hermes Myrrhe Eglantine (2018) - rose leather - I’ll have the perfumer introduce it as I think the description fits. “This legendary material evokes the world of desert caravans and the former perfume routes. A myrrh, then more precious than gold, reinvented and reworked around rosehip, a wild, fresh and tangy rose that never surrenders.” #christine.nagel To me, it’s a fresh dewy rose and leather.

muzzbait

This is one of the most beautiful renditions of myrrh and something I see myself getting...
I think it's going to be one of the four in the set. I usually like my resin-featured scents to be a little dirty and a little, well, stanky, but this, I can certainly make an exception.
Perfectly balanced and layered.
4.5 stars (doesn't project enough for mine), worth sampling and probably buying...

5xSecrets!

A natural rose on a deep and mysterious layer of myrrh. Myrrhe Eglantine is not heavy, sweet or overwhelming and is perfectly unisex. If you like rose and amber fragrances, this should be right up your alley. I'm surprised this isn't more popular here, as it is well composed, has long lasting-power and is fairly unique.

RubyMint

It's a magical scent, makes me feel like an Egyptian goddess. It's so luxurious, other-wordily, and ancient-feeling, in a way I've never felt with any other perfume.

Bubbles1964

A very pretty, sweet rose scent with a prominent vanilla in the mix. Myrrh comes out during the drydown, and like others describe, I agree there’s a dusty element. But combined with the vanilla, this rose leans dry but sweet, almost gourmand.

There’s nothing challenging in this mainstream scent. I really like Myrrhe Eglantine, I’m testing from a dauber but would love to experience a spray.

keepitsunny

Nope. On my skin this is an unholy combination of scents, the sharp floral of the rose warring with the warm undertone of the ambery myrrh. Have you ever been near a pile of dead leaves, one that's been sitting for a while? That scent of greenery that's been rained on several times, continuing to molder without drying out completely, that almost-sweet edge of decay?
That's Myrrhe Eglantine on me.

SniffingAddict

This one, opened with a beautiful dusty rose. Then, it develops into a bit too pickle-like sour smell with my skin chemistry. At the hour mark, the sour, pickle-like note very prominent. Then, it mellows and kind of smells like Chinese dried sour plums.... It's in this phase where I can see it being a good layering / pairing with Agar Ebene -- they're both kind of dusty so the smoky and sour complement each other.

lilt

This smells very rosy from the cap. This smells rosy on my sister. But on me, this starts off dusty (must be the myrrh used here) and the rose slowly shines through which gives almost a plummy aspect because the rose here is not your typical rose, as others have said. This is a full bodied, sour/tart rose that's not jammy like Une Rose or sweet like Radical Rose. Yes, I can smell the aspects that are urine-like. I even get why this gets compared to oud because my skin chemistry morphs this into what (almost) smells like a rose oud combo. This is really dependent on your skin chemistry. As for most perfumes, try it out first! I do not recommend blind buying this.

tandem_4x4

This is a very special rose perfume.

It is not scent of the Rosa Damascena or Centifollia. It is Eglantine - the wild 5 petal rose flower, which produces fruit in the autumn. We have a lot of them in Russia. This fragrance smells like flowers and fruits mixed together. My mom made a jam of it and I know how fruits smell very very well. It is fantastic that I found it in Hermes top line fragrance.

Unbelievable: a very special rose fragrance, unique, nothing smells like this.

PS: nothing to do with Galop in my view.

Iceblocks

I don't wear fragrance for compliments - I wear it for me - but still, there's something to be said for the ones that garner them. For the scents that actually push people to take time out of their day to express delight, for scents that push people to outright ask what are you wearing? That smells great!

It's not a true marker of quality, necessarily, but it does speak to something about the fragrance.

Myrrhe Eglantine is my single most complimented fragrance, hands down. Almost every time I've worn it, someone has commented.

And, look, maybe it just works on me for some reason. Maybe that's not a common occurrence for others. But I don't think so. Because quite frankly, I agree with the compliments - this is gorgeous and I'm so, so surprised that it isn't talked about more often.

It really does have that Hermès elegance - it feels so well composed, like burying your nose into an actual, living rose, one out in the garden. It still has that transparency to it, but it's a little more full-bodied, jammy and boozy, a hint of fruit underneath. It smells real.

This is a rose without powder or vanilla or sugar. It's not childish, but neither does it feel "vintage". It feels almost plush, like velvet, but it maintains this regal distance - it never yells, never overpowers, but instead hums along politely. The Hermessence line has something of a (well-deserved, barring a few exceptions) reputation for enjoyable scents that disappear too quickly - this one however lingers, lasting a full day on skin and clothing.

It's another one that seems to work regardless of context, too - I've worn it at work, out at dinner, at home around the house, and it's never once seemed out of place. Likewise, the fragrance itself doesn't have a note out of place, everything working together and blended so well it's hard to pick one chord from another.

I've tried a lot of roses (yes, including Delina) and this one tops them all for me. I have a full bottle and it's one of the few that I'd re-buy without hesitation once I'm through.

1000/10.

(For those of you wondering about the comparison to Galop - especially if you don't like leather - never fear! I can't stand Galop, the leather does unspeakable things to the scent on my skin - this has the same "polished" feeling to it, and I can see why people would compare it, but I have to disagree. I had to scrub Galop off - this I spray with abandon).

judiejudie

I confess, I'm a rose frag-a-holic. Certainly I have at least 120 rose centered bottles in my stash. This needs to join my stash.

Hermes is a lovely consumer friendly line. Call them and ask for samples, they will oblige. I wanted to sample Musc Pallida, but I guess they don't have samples of MP. I hope they'll have them before the holiday season arrives. I did remember that I had not yet sampled Myrrhe Eglantine and requested a sample. I'm wearing ME now, and savoring this beautiful composition.

ME reminds me of my favorite guilty pleasure. When my wonderful DH brings me a bouquet of roses, there are often a few loose petals in the paper wrapper. I obsessively roll those petals in my fingers until they're thoroughly eviscerated. Then I compulsively sniff my fingers for the next few hours LOL.

ME is exquisite. I'm thinking of a question that might be asked on the game show Jeopardy: "What smells like perfection?" The answer is "What is Myrrhe Eglantine".

Mez0Nez

The sour and spicy(clove, green note, saffron), jammy rose scent... Many people mentioned "Wine", but It smells like urine to me because of the dusty and musty smells from woody(balsam) notes.

Djedi

It's a very lush, almost juicy, rose in the opening. The myrrh follows almost immediately and adds a dry woody texture to the scent which balances out the tartness and intensity of the rose. The rose smells as if it has been dumped in some wine barrels and then laid out in the sun to dry. Definitely a resinous, almost boozy rose scent. Most rose fragrances are either too sweet or juvenile or smell like something that has been done countless times before, but this one at least tries to take things in another direction. It's a fairly linear scent which doesn't do much for me at the end of the day. The rose accord starts to annoy me after multiple wears but that is most likely due to its boozy texture. Unisex, but perhaps slightly more feminine leaning. Performance is on par with the others from the line; weak but with decent longevity.

Hermessence's Myrhh Eglantine:
Myrhh Eglantine smells of real green-tea English Rose, the balsam of holy church myrhh, and that light air of luxury leather! But its the most fully realised rose I've smelled from all I've tried even after all the florals I've had. You can smell the plant stem, and rose water dripping from this church rose. Beautifully delicate, airy, and declaring of its presence in the vicinity with its bright champagne-tea effervescence. And yet it doesnt smell like a "perfume" perfume. It's wonderfully real and tangible. That's what I like so much about Eglantine-- that perfect held illusion that what you smell isnt just perfume but really, a myrhh'd champagne toned tea-rose. (UPDATE: Don't expect a rose that has a touch of "weight" to this, that would be Armani's Oud Royal, or Amouage's Jubilation 25. Otherwise, if you want a light, breezy air of luxe boozy rose? Myrrh Eglantine is for you.)

Cadeaux

Didn't like this initially but did find it to smell quite interesting. The whiff was fine, but once on my skin, smelled a lot like red wine. Sour, tart, bitter -- eugh.
But now, almost 5 hours later, it has transformed into this uplifting floral. Like a cozy but exclusive party, like an art gallery opening. So good.

The leather on the cap is appealing. In fact, I think the dry down smells like the color on it. Hmm.

Metiche

I went to Hermes Store in order to validate if they already received the new perfumes and they told me they already received almost all new fragrances and, as soon as i smelled Myrrhe Eglatine I told all people there "It's very similar to Galop D'Hermes" :) as soon as i said that they gave me some free testers :P (Myrrhe Eglatine, Ceder Sambac and Agar Ebene)

I have a 4ml sample and I’m treasuring every moment! It’s classy and sensual and to my nose has a slight boozy dry down. I usually wear it of an evening at home snuggling up on the lounge watching a movie or laying in bed reading. Something about this parfum has a mature feeling without being targeted or made For a mature woman. I am 24 and find this enchanting.
Longevity: great 6-9 hours longeron cloth
Sillage: Good about arms length

cocolover56

This is absolutely stunning to me! Its amazing how something that's been done a thousand times before can smell so new and fresh. A vivid, dewy rose held up by a beautiful myrrhe. Have received several compliments, not that it's a deciding factor in whether or not I'll buy it ... but it helps. Color me 100% impressed and in love.

@antonoan

Myrrhe Elgantine, to my nose, smells nothing at all like Creed Royal Oud. I have a bottle of Royal Oud and wear that fragrance every other day, and i would never once even think of associating it with this Hermes.

To me, Myrrhe Elgantine smells like a slightly more complex and natural version of one of the feminine-leaning Un Jardin fragrances.

It would be an awesome spring fragrance for a woman, but it isn't for me.

Update: The longevity is genuinely excellent, and once it's been on the skin after a few hours, it turns more unisex. I still wouldn't personally buy it though because it smells feminine during the time that it is still projecting.

antonpan

Myrrphe is fruity and rosy, with a bit dirty background that overall smells similar to Creed Royal Oud.

missingpuzzle

This together with Agar Ebene are my favorites from Hermessence, well done, Christine Nagel! This is a perfect jammy, a bit boozy rose. Can't name any other notes, since they are all well-balanced and none of them stands out, they just accompany the beautiful sweet rose. Surprisingly, I can't think of any similar fragrance - it is less smoky than Rouge, more jammy than Une Rose. Maybe Rose Nobile?

The overall vibe is rose in champagne - you want to love life and celebrate when smelling this!
