Lilas Exquis by Jacques Fath is a fragrance for women and men. Lilas Exquis was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Luca Maffei. Top notes are Hyacinth, Bergamot and Blueberry; middle notes are Lilac, Lime (Linden) Blossom, Angelica, Lily, Violet and Magnolia; base notes are Musk, Ambroxan, Woody Notes, Ambrette (Musk Mallow) and Amber.

Fath's Essentials, the Collection of Jacques Fath perfumes continues to expand. The first four fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumer Cécile Zarokian. She rehabilitated the mythical Green Water and created three other fragrances, with a complementary and unique vision. The second part of the collection, four new fragrances with a more feminine direction are presented in preview during Esxence at Milano. The perfumer is Luca Maffei. For this Collection, the main theme translated is “la Joie de Vivre” that Jacques Fath expressed in his creations and during his life. To achieve the goals requested by the brand, the perfumer, Luca Maffei, selected innovative raw materials and noble ingredients to match with the violet, pink, red and gold colors chosen by designer Rania Naim to infuse the femininity of the collection. "Lilas Exquis is a reference to one of the designer’s favorite color and flower, often used for his creations and accessories." - a note from the brand.

BlueMusk

A glorious woodsy floral, perfect for Spring. Very green, a natural garden sweetness grounded by a musky base. The namesake lilac note and blueberry are most identifiable on my skin. A little powder on the dry-down, a faint vintage quality, but still remarkably fresh and bright.

Decent longevity with a nice trial. A unisex perfume that veers more traditionally feminine.

My favourite of the Fath's Essentials line that I've tried so far, and one of my favourite perfumes in general. Layers nicely with their Green Water.

Seekers of lilac will be disappointed.

It smells like a mix of 2 scents by Estée Lauder: grassy White Linen with fresh aldehydic Estée. Heart notes show some hyacinth. Base notes - none, it is gone in an hour.

Dragonflywings

Really soapy and quite musky, just a generic meh floral. I was really excited about the hyacinth and the lilac notes, but I can't detect either. It's okay for what it is, but since it's pretty expensive, I definitely wouldn't recommend blind buying it. Luckily I only got the 15 ml bottle.

Cananga__Odorata

I have an interesting story with this perfume. I bought with my partner in the deep northern winter time, when the sun never appears in the sky. And I was so waiting for spring to wear this perfume. Finally, everything is green around now and I can enjoy the true magic of spring. The perfume is floral, musky, fresh but deep. Sensual, multi-layered. I've been looking for a good lilac perfume until now, because until this one I've only found the smell of my grandmother's old scarf after lying on a wooden bench. A lilac note can give an "old, dusty" mood. But not in this perfume. This perfume is elegant, extremely feminine, but not too girly. It lasts about six hours on the skin, one day or more on the hair. Love.

another blind buy mistake. this smells like room freshener to me. I’m picky about lilac scents only loving a few (JP Vacances, FM En Passant). This one does have a lot of hyacinth & leans green. But somehow it seems like bathroom freshener and I just about needed to wash it off.

RisingChaos

Soft, relaxing purple floral bomb. A heart of freshly-picked lilac and hyacinth is spattered with juicy blueberries, plus flecks of other floral notes adding a watery touch. Moderately soft projection for 2-3hr, longevity 8-10hr. 4.5/5

Possibly my favorite of the Fath's Essentials, despite the lack of my favorite purple flower iris. A very authentic floral experience, perhaps not quite to the level of Strangelove lostinflowers but this also doesn't cost $10/mL and I do like the little fruity accents. Would be perfect if I could get just a smidge more blueberry in there, since that's an uncommon perfumery note.

For natural floral green lovers. Lilac and Hyacinth are the stars of the fragrance. It is like a fresh lilac & hyacinth bouquet in spring (flower and stem). Tender, elegant, delicate. I am immediately transported to my grandmother's garden in March/April. Perfect for spring, vintage. I cannot detect musk or woody notes.

"Lilas Exquis is an unexpected fragrance, playful but above all very surprising, rebel on the head with a green side on the opening which destabilizes the expectation of a floral fragrance. The heart, deep and audacious, reveals a modern Lilac with floral aquatic note of Magnolia and sweet honeyed Linden Blossom. A surprising accord of “Violet Cream” also adds a delicate touch to the sensual freshness of Linden blossom."

I was doubtful if a fragrance called ‘Lilas Exquis’ could ever be be a man’s choice from the nifty Jacques Fath tester pack. Fragrantica assured me it was unisex, however, and am I glad they did. I agree with the people here who notice first of all the hyacinth which sings out immediately, thereafter followed by some glorious lilac. In fact, all day I have been teased by a heady mixture of the two. Since these are two of my favourite notes, I am adding LE to my permanent collection. Floral but upmarket masculine.

ArtDecoStyle

As a purple flower lover, Lilas Exquis was on my wish list for a long time. Finally I decided to blind buy. And I'm a little surprised with it.

Despite being a green scent, it's not fresh or aquatic, actually it's quite dry. The opening is quite similar with Chanel No.19 EdT and No.19 Poudree, green but dry, chalky dry like an iris perfume. Lilas Exquis is actually Jacinthe Exquise to my nose, especially for initial phase, I can smell hyacinths very clearly, and this reminds me of my grandmother's tiny backyard where hyacinths bloomed in spring.

Lilacs appear on mid phase, but they are not strongly pronounced as hyacinths. Dryness slowly disappears and the scent becomes more floral. Then it softens and becomes creamy in the end.

If you are looking for a lilac dominant perfume, Lilas Exquise is not the answer. Aerin Lauder Lilac Path is.

Am I disappointed? No, because I love hyacinths too and Lilas Exquis surprisingly feels like a more wearable flanker of Chanel No.19 for me. Lilacs? They are already in my backup bottle of Lilac Path.

Siv7Stars

A sweet blast of powdery lilac that very quickly becomes too green & sharp for me.

zhetheru

I was so excited to receive this, but it is missing something to me. My skin is pulling only the hyacinth. Normally, I wouldn't be upset about that, because hyacinths are one of my favorite flowers, but this has an animalic scent to it that I'm not sure about yet. We'll see how I feel after 5 hours.
On the other hand, this smells like a fresh cut bouquet of hyacinths. Not sure why they named it Lilas, Lilac is far from the main note. It's in there, but it's an understudy.

LadyofWahey

Sweet green lilacs caressing; earthen sunshine bringing peaceful joy.

musicaficta

SaltwaterChic, you can order samples straight from the Jacques Fath website. I just received 12 free samples for only the cost of shipping! ($28.25USD) The shipment only took four days to get here--- one to arrive in the US from Paris and three to arrive at my mailbox from wherever the port of entry was. This highlights what a joke the USPS has become.

SaltWaterChic

The juice isn't purple, it's clear. I held the bottle up in different lightings and backgrounds and still it's just a light grey liquid. It's an inoffensive light lilac scent with a woody drydown. I also smell the lily but not sure about the hyacinth. I wanted to purchase samples from the brand which they have listed on their website but they don't answer emails as I had a clarification question before so ordered. So I blind bought the bottle and my ordered included samples of their whole line. Shipping was quite fast. Unfortunately the perfume does not project. All the samples they sent me are awful, this is the only decent perfume from the house.

dominicgoyer

Impressive natural lilac perfume.
But this is NOT unisex.
Well... maybe it is and I'm not open-minded enough to wear it
but if you are looking for a fresh lilac perfume, almost greenish floral, you must try this.

GlacialImpala

Instant favorite. I've been wearing lilac and hyacinth smells as long as I can remember. I'm a fan of natural renditions. This is as good as and as close as it gets to the real thing, without including too strong green notes, and thank god without leaning gourmand so it won't dry down too sweet on you.

What's best about this perfume (which I eventually bought full 100ml) is that all of the listed flowers are equally detectable AND they stay that way throughout the wearing time. You can even 'boost' a certain flower by how far away your nose is or what you're wearing. Explanation - I sprayed on my arms, while I was naked I could smell mostly Lilacs, when I put my clothes on it was mostly Hyacinth. Pull my sleeve off - again with the lilacs.
Nose to the skin - iris and Linden.

Then I took a huge sweaty nap and woke up with flowers gone and this most amazing musk was radiating off of me like crazy. I've never ever smelled anything like this! That's like 6+ hours of most amazing flowers and many more hours of exquisite musk.

You should really experience it, 2ml sprays are available from a ton of places.

Khasia

Lilas exquis is one of the most floral fragrance I’ve ever tried.
Well floral with a green touch and a gourmand green glaze.
It has a sparkling opening with bergamot and blueberry.
In the heart it has an accord of lilac and something called "violet cream", that, reading here and there on the web, seems to be an accord of violet, angelica and lily petals.
On the bottom I mainly perceive musk, ambrette and the omnipresent ambroxan. All these elements consolidate the accord and make the long-lasting harmony of this perfume despite its nature.
The general impression wearing this scent is of being wrapped in the branches of a lilac plant in bloom, with the leaves and the woody parts, and beyond that, also a vaguely gourmand scent, given by the cream of violet.
The color of the liquid, then, transparent and slightly lilac, is strongly evocative of a romantic atmosphere. It recalls afternoons, when I was a teenager, spent writing letters on violet paper, already foreshadowing the expectation and hope of an answer, while the flowers color the air and time passes quietly. A dream

xmelldefrag

This is a vegetal lilac and hyacinth perfume. The flowers are very raw, like you've just handpicked them. Though it's not the same as Carnal Flower's tuberose, this perfume for me gives off the same ambience, camphoric atmosphere. Hence it falls into green floral category.

I have to admit that this perfume is hard to love at the first sight, but give it some time, it will evolve into something floral-musky-woody which lasts very long, even though the silage is low. The color of the juice says it all.

Do not blind buy this, give it a proper test and time, and see whether you like it or not.

fpolk83

I just made a blind buy with Lilas Exquis, and I'm not regretting it at all. I love lilacs and hyacinths, so I thought this would be a winner based on the notes. This is the best lilac I have ever come across in the past 25 years I've been collecting perfumes.

The presentation of the box/bottle is elegant and feminine. I like that the bottle comes with a very functional magnetic cap, and it's a very solid bottle. The spray comes out evenly and in large squirts, so all I need are 2 sprays of this and I'm set for the day.

There is nothing powdery or excessively sweet about this perfume, which I figured would come from the violet or blueberry, it is just a beautiful purple floral with hints of linden blossom, a mild sweetness (not at all candy-like) and I smell a slight dewy green note, even though it's not listed. I was noticed immediately when I put this on and went outside in the freezing weather, someone commented on how great I smell while I was at the local coffee shop. So the sillage must be good. After 6 hours I can still smell myself very well in my little perfume cloud by my desk, it's not weak at all to where I have to put my arm to my nose just to smell it. My husband said of the perfume, "that is what a beautiful woman should smell like." If he notices it, then that's saying a lot.

There are similarities between Lilas Exquis and Aerin Lilac Path, but I really prefer Lilas Exquis because it's much less sharp to the nose than Lilac Path, as in, it doesn't induce any sneezing, and the notes in Lilas Exquis just seem softer and more refined. (There is something in all of the Aerin perfumes that make me sneeze.) I would say the longevity and sillage with Lilas Exquis is much greater than Lilac Path. Lilas Exquis remains linear for the 6 hours it wears on me, but that's fine with me, since I want to keep smelling that beautiful lilac for the entire duration of the scent.

I will be wearing this often, since it's not often both my husband and I agree on the same scents.

gypsy parfumista

Odd, isn't it, dear sniffers? Soooo much *hate* above for something that is made by one of the premier rising Stars of niche perfumery for a fashion house that got Givenchy and Guy LaRoche their starts not to mention clothing (and perfuming since the fifties!) the likes of Ava Gardner, Greta Garbo and Rita Hayworth (worth you looking these ladies up, my millennial friends, if you're not familiar with real Glamour) and yet no one can (or will) say exactly Why.

I know for a fact the (now third iteration) newest of the Green Waters is stunning, from my small decant. A different Nose did Lilas Exquis, it's true, but every scent I've tried from this house has been great. Every fragrance from Maffei has been a delightful revelation, and until either I try it or read some respectable reviews I'm going to ignore the feedback on this for now...

Suffice it to say this sounds like what I would imagine would be (osmagine) a nearly perfect soliflore. Hyacinth AND lilacs? Blueberries and angelica? Warm musky Oriental dry down? Um...yes, please!!

My unicorn sense (my higher self's sort of third eye of scents) is shimmering; therefore, my guess is this will be a wish-i-woulda-knew-i-shoulda soon to be doomed Collection piece that will probably only appreciate in value. While we're being mystical and dreamy why not wish for a 5 ml of each of the 8 Fath Essentials de Parfums in one Discovery Coffret??

Smell swell & be well,
GP
