It reminds me of my mother's rose hair oil that she used to apply it almost everyday. She has this perfume and the oil is almost identical to it.
Non-offensive pure red rose scent. Good memories. I like it but not for me.

The smell of roses

This one smelled like a nice rose perfume to me. I did not sense any other notes. Just lovely Bulgarian rose. Rose oil like, reminds me of my grandmothers pure Bulgarian rose oil (essence). Rose lovers will appreciate.

AzureWhisper

A surprise scrubber. I expected to like this, as I love rose fragrances, but this is the only one I've disliked. It's the beeswax, I can't get past it to enjoy the rose scent. This morning there's still some on my sleeve, and it smells just like my grandmother's house (though not in a bad way, her house was beautiful, it's just not my personal scent style). I've also realised I need something a little brighter with my rose – more citrus or pepper. For reference my favs so far have been Byredo Young Rose and Diptyque's Eau Rose.

Aditya chatterjee

🥀All i get is roses with beeswax, which blended so well that it doesn't spoil the original rose DNA. Very natural and seems high quality blend 😍

bonniherself

The only notes I get from this are rose, and maaaayyybe a hint of the violet and the beeswax. But mostly this it just one big, long, saturated hit of rose, and it really does smell like real, fresh roses. I've never experienced a rose perfume that is as accurate for capturing the scent of fresh, fragrant roses. That said, it is a little strong for me, and after an hour or so, I tend to feel like maybe I've smelled enough rose for one day. It lasts a lot longer than that, though, but it's kind of demanding on the olfactory senses, if that makes any sense. Still, I do like it and I do wear it, but I try to keep it in moderation because by the time it settles down into the rose heart notes, I tend to be a little overwhelmed by it. I recommend testing before buying, and if you do splurge on it -- and let's face it, it's pretty pricey -- wear in moderation, at least until you know for sure how you feel about a rose is a rose is a rose.

yuser99

It’s nice, pleasant - especially if you are a fan of rose notes. This would make a great layering scent to amp up or add a floral/rosey element to another perfume.
Smells clean and water-like (like rose petals floating in a bathtub), but can become vegetal at times if you catch it on a bad day. But otherwise a nice, clean, rose water scent 🌹
Lasting power is AMAZING. This one is not going anywhere, on my skin it was still present even after a quick shower. Projects reasonably as well too. Out of character for a JM cologne but definitely not complaining. It’s good! Creates a nice scent bubble. Just be careful not to overspray — can cause sneezing if you’re like me and sensitive to florals

yara.xo

wow.. i agree with everyone this is deffo the truest rose scent i’ve smelt. i prefer a blend of notes in my perfumes but this is fantastic if you’re after a singular scent that is realistic

This is a review of the bath oil. Jo Malone isn't my favourite house, but not many companies make bath oils.

I've never tried the perfume, but this is not the rose soliflore described in every other review. It has a strong herbal note - almost like chamomile. I see violet leaf in the notes, but it's not that (to my nose). I HAVE tried the top comparison perfumes and this is nothing like them (Lutens, Tea Rose, etc.)

The oil is lovely, makes the tub smell fragrant and gives a milkiness to the water. But I'm not smelling much rose. For the price I expected better.

I'll have to give the actual perfume a try to see if they just dumbed-down the scent of the oil. But I won't be rushing out to do so.

bronnebug

Gorgeous x1000. This reminds me of Turkish Delight, minus the powder. The body lotion is silky, smooth, completely absorbs, and not drying despite being (beautifully) fragranced.

If anyone knows an accurate replica/dupe, please private message me. This is one of the most amazing scents I've ever had the privilege of smelling.

FabulouslyLazy

The best, purest, redder rose you’ll ever come across ❤️

paupadua

This smells literally like fresh cut roses and indeed the perfect rose scent. Its sweet, fresh and ethereal. This is my first Jo Malone purchase as it reminds me of my Mom who loves roses.

Bee91

At first, lemon. Lots of lemon. It's a first because I love a fresh citrus opening, but I do believe the opening here is way too sharp.
Once the lemon dissipates, there's the rose. Very intense and realistic, like pressing your face on a bouquet of freshly cut roses.
Doesn't work that well on my skin. I find it too much.

Tried in store, I personally wouldn't purchase a bottle, not for me.

bowlofrice123

This is the most photorealistic rose fragrance I've smelt. Opens with a lemony sweetness that lasts about half an hour, then mellows into a sweeter rose with a touch of honey for about 5-6 hours. Drydown lasts for days on clothes and presents as a honeyed beeswax with a touch of animalic sweetness. The supporting notes beautifully capture the nuances in a red rose's smell. Definitely worth a sniff if you're a rose lover.

nruthh

This is the perfect rose scent. Dewdrops on red rose petals, thick green leaves, the faintest hint of honey if you look for it. It’s just red rose — nothing more, nothing less. I’m so happy a perfume like this exists. It really does capture the herbaceous quality of the green leaves so well without overwhelming the delicate florals. Genuine rose perfection.

kpop_stan

This one wowed me, even though it's not what I'm looking for. The word "photorealistic" gets tossed about so often it's about lost its meaning but genuinely... this smells like burying your nose into a rose bush. It's every part of the flower; the leaves, the stem, the thorns, as well as the petals. It even has that "stink" that I associate with a lot of flowers! As I said, it's not what I'm looking for (I'm hunting for a delicate rose water scent) but this impressed me with how vividly realistic it is. If you are on a quest for an "actual rose" perfume, THIIIIIIIS is the one!

This has good longevity, too. One spray lasted about 5 hours which is nothing exceptional but pretty darn good for a Jo Malone!

nmua

On me this comes across as more of the stem of the rose, a little spicy and herbaceous. The sap that comes out of a cut plant. More the scent of the whole bush of roses rather than just the rose itself.

poopoopants

smells exactlyyy like roses so goood if your into realistic rose scent in the best way possible reminds me of a freshly cleaned grave soaked in rose water and flowers makes you smell so fresh and clean

beigepoudre

A true red rose in its purest form.
I wanted a realistic fresh rose, this is it.
It smells like the rose you want to smell amongs the other in a garden. Rose scents have a time stopping element, not sure why, but they translate something quit disturbing and beautiful at the same time.
Fresh roses evoques mysterious women to me, strange beauty.
I really love this fragrance.

Ghost13

Photo realistic rose is the best way to describe this. The rose are pink with a slight tinge of green on the base, the stems freshly cut and still wet, all thorns gone. I can smell the literal velvety petal of the rose itself. If you love roses and want something more realistic, green, and clean, this is it. The mint really adds a lovely pairing and it’s just so pretty. It is light but it can still be picked up on by others. It can dry down a little odd on clothes so I suggest spraying on skin to avoid that.

This is how I’d imagine princess Aroura smells, it’s the only thing that comes to mind for me. It’s so rosy and pretty and clean, it’s fit for a princess. Enchanted fairytale vibes.

Macleay

I think I got Red Roses in either 2017 or 2018? I bought it on a whim, wore it for a while, and then forgot about it. Recently, I’ve become intrigued by it again.

I suppose I should admit Jo Malone scents are strangely intimidating to me because they are aspirational. They are wifed up perfumes. They seem like scents for women with devoted husbands, with a child or two, who live in the countryside and host really incredible dinner parties. Every Nancy Meyers female protagonist wears Jo Malone, without a doubt and I’m absolutely angling for a Nancy Meyers middle age once I arrive there (minus the cheating men). Meryl Streep’s character in It’s Complicated surely has a signature Jo Malone scent and all the accompanying bath, body, and home products to go with it.

Red Roses is fresh, fresh, fresh, the beeswax and mint co-mingle with the rose and create the impression of an English country garden at full bloom in Springtime. As many others have noted, it’s about the most realistic rose scent out there. With all that said, I like it but I don’t adore it. It’s rather fleeting and lasts for around 4 hours which while not awful seems to be a brand wide trait. And as previously mentioned, it’s aspirational. I want to be the kind of woman who wears Jo Malone but I'm not. It’s just a little too gentle and fresh and wholesome. I’ll keep wearing it from time to time, but probably only on days spent at home. When it comes to rose perfumes, I’m far more of a Fredric Malle Rose Tonnere kind of gal. Still, I’m keeping my heart open because maybe there will be a time one day where my romantic, bucolic aspirations will be more than aspirations and wearing a Jo Malone perfume will feel natural and right.

BCBH

With all these positive reviews, I feel like I'm going crazy.

This smells like bug spray, first and foremost. Rose note is VERY synthetic, and it dries down to an animal urine smell. I LOVE roses, rose perfumes, and all sorts of rose scented products, but this is a "no" from me.

EritErit

Rosalva, this ingredient is very prominent, it creates a very waxy and aldehylic touch to a rose accord without overdosing aldehyde C 11 Undeceylic.

This perfume has a heavy phenyl Ethyl alcohol prominent solo rose accord (Bulgarian/ Turkish rose absolute)

Coffeecookies

I had a chance to sample this today and oh my goodness!
It’s the most realistic rose scent I’ve ever had the pleasure of sniffing!
Takes me back to going to my first ever rose garden in Portland. Running down each aisle of flowers after a fresh rain and pressing my nose into the Dewey petals, inhaling the beautiful smells. I never was a rose person until that day! Everything changed!

This perfume smells like dewey rose garden with no other nonsense going on- with high sillage and projection.
I NEED this so badly!

Pat_Chouli

Red rose, realistic with stems and leaves, but with a kind of aromatic, herbal undertone.

equatorium

it's a rose! very true to the name and pretty long-lasting/good projection for a cologne. lasts quite long on clothes. personally i don't get other notes other than a nice, fresh rose. about as rosy as it gets.

Heliodora

Had this as a sample (the first Jo Malone I ever tried), and I completely fell in love with it! I used to hate rose in fragrances, it being usually stuffy, unrealistic and dated, but this has surprised me - the red rose note is very photorealistic here, and the beeswax/honeycomb note makes it sensual and playful at the same time. It comes off very natural, nothing synthetic to be found. I will say, that I don't smell the opening notes (lemon and mint) at all on myself, it goes straight to the rose and similarly, the violet leaf is not detectable. It being a cologne, the longevity also is not great, but when compared to other Jo Malone colognes (like Sea Salt and Wood Sage, where the longevity is just abyssmal), it does last quite long, cca 3 hours. Definitely getting a full bottle soon

tolkii

I'm not sure if I like it or if it's bad. It's an earthy rose smell that I like at first, but it quickly turns sickeningly sweet and almost piss-like. Tried layering it and it went even more pissy.

thaochipnd

Smells like Tea Rose, but I like Tea Rose better. Tea Rose is the Queen of Roses in my heart, Red Roses just have a better design.

AinoKaroliina

Both the lemon and the mint are strong in the opening.

The type of rose they used has a vintage feel. To me it's not this dewy, uplifting, fresh kind of rose like many have claimed it to be.

The strong lemon scent sticks around for the middle notes and it's giving me a cleaning product vibe.

The base is purely beeswax. I think the beeswax is a nice choice for the base, it's sweet and gentle.

This was a blind buy fail for me.

violeteme

Rose Excelsior!
Soapy red rose absolute. Very beautiful. Narcotic, a lot like true essence of petalia. Wow. As it dries down, it becomes very powdery, but that quality is more reminiscent of the velvety texture red roses have, not of true powder. Such a beautiful, attractive sillage. Addictive and hypnotic, my blotter is few meters away from me, but I get such a beautiful thick powdery, creamy rose scent coming from it. After two days I sprayed that blotter.
Bravo, this is unbelievably gorgeous!!! Masterful.

sulasave

This is a red roses bush.
that's the end of the review.

but here's a complaint.
this perfume.... lacks performance.
It is great over all scent but please just buy Tea Rose.

daesungvip22

very classic photorealistic rose, yes it can feel a little dated but this scent is always going to be good to me. if you're not a rose lover you will not love this, but I love it--reminds me of when i was 20 in LV. don't get the other notes in this as much but the rose is a very rosy rose.

Annelieva

Classical old school rose scent. Very realistic. Can not be compared to Diptyque Eau Rose (EdT and EdP) in my opinion, as they are more complex and not as sharp and dated as Red Roses Cologne. I do like this however, and as a rose lover you can’t go wrong with this one. Very good projection and longevity for a cologne!

amudrechenko

Excellent longevity on me, despite it being Jo Malone! Also, gorgeous opening notes, I am really impressed with how realistic this rose is. It's wet, floral, like the queen of flowers, intense, spicy, citrusy and statement-making. It's competitive with Diptyque Rose, if not better (the Diptyque one is slightly less spicy to me) and can even compete with Delina (although Delina is more intense and more sour because of fruits). I am absolutely keeping this icon in my collection. It's an iconic early 2000's Rose that everybody must smell before starting their rose collection. Currently I have various Delinas, roses by Diptyque (including capitale), rose by Veronique Gabai, Rose and Oud by JM (a more dark and intense rose), and rose by Kilian (some like it hot and other rosy perfumes by them, they make excellent combinations too). I also liked the tom ford one but it's light, peppery, and my least liked out of all of them, not sure why.

Chelsey325

Beautiful fragrance but doesn’t work with my body chemistry. I have an almost full large bottle and body lotion for sale/trade. Message me!

cyclone1391

Not enough rose strangely enough. On my skin, citrus notes really sing and the lemon in this dominates and is quite sour. Then the beeswax takes over and rose is just kind of there in the background. Peony & Blush suede gives more rose on me than this. To my nose peonies and some varieties of roses smell quite similar in fragrances and in my garden.

NurseElle

According to Jo Malone customer service, there is no mint in this, the notes are wrong on here..

mabelangel

possibly *the most* realistic smelling rose perfumes on the market. smells like realistic, dewy and fresh roses! i'd say it's a pretty safe blind buy if you love roses. def recommend :)

stefavramoglou

It is one of the most photo-realistic roses out on the market. It is a fantastic fragrance to layer with another perfume and give it a lovely floral lift. Personally I layer it with Grey Vetiver, and the result is simply amazing. Very long lasting for a cologne as well. Realistic rose bouquet that dries down to a sweet waxy honeycomb. You can get bored of it easily though, but the layering thing you can do with it can fix it immediately. Recommended.

Sbg9s

If you like rose I believe this is one of the best, if not best rose fragrance on the market. It smells like hyperrealistic fresh rose, with a hint of sitrus and honey. It's 90% rose though.
It's longevity and sillage is shockingly good, especially for a Jo Malone Fragrance.
The only perfume I own I can compare to this is Diptyque's Eau Rose, which basically is a weaker, more perfume-y version of this. They smell similar at first but while Red Roses stay smelling exactly the same, Eau Rose fades to a rose-scented soft perfume.
So I would recommend people get this over Eau Rose.

jaejaejae

the reddest rose i have ever smelled. i was stunned at how realistic this fragrance is when i tested it. i was even more amazed at how long it lasted on my skin as jo malone fragrances are notorious for being beautiful but short-lived. it's obviously pricey (it's jo malone) but i'm saving up for a bottle for sure. it's classy and elegant, slightly dark yet comforting. plus my bf loves it so there's that. love the honeycomb that comes through for that added sweetness (edit: bf broke up w me but i still love the frag, will be buying for my grad present to myself)

Perpetual Collector

I went to Sephora today specifically to test Red Roses. My absolute favorite note in perfumery is the Rose, the redder the better... This is mesmerizing. Deep, pungent, dark red rose, the kind my grandmother used to make the juice out of. Just stunning, classy, deep as an ocean rose centered perfume, or in this case, a cologne, even though it performes like it's EDP. Came home and ordered a full bottle.

sweetjess

I love this rose. if you are someone who loves rose you will love this too, the sillage is awesome and it smells so good throughout the day

Suwinka

I am a lover of rose scents, but this was not for me. It is very realistic, but the honeycomb in it makes it too sweet, like jam. The smell is still strong, so it causes headaches and nausea with its sweetness.

Aurorah97

This smells like rose oil and lasted literally all day on me. It's great! I love roses and smelling like roses. I just wish Sephora had a smaller bottle lol, I have enough of this now to last me a lifetime :)

neznaso

Try mixing this with grapefruit essential oil. Really nice

PickledVibes

I purchased Red Roses along with Blackberry & Bay as a layering combo and it's downright criminal how good they smell together. It's a rose garden, in mid summer, large, bright pink and red roses are everywhere, and the plants have been recently watered. Sun, water, flower and plant project a rich rose, and verdant, earthy green aroma. Around the roses, wild blackberries, with their furry, rough leaves, are scattered, begging you to pick and nibble on. And you're drinking a refreshingly bright, mint-garnished cocktail. Probably something on gin.

Buy both, mix them, and sure, you've paid twice as much, but you've spent less than a single bottle of Creed and have three scents (think about it...) that may be moderate in performance, but vastly more interesting, versatile (you and whomever you're with can both enjoy), and you get to play around with blends. I love each individually. Both are divine.

AquaJima

I don’t prefer this. It smells like the ambient fragrances you buy for your toilet.

minthecremenoine

Smells very nostalgic, this is VERY SIMILAR to the scent that my grandmother used to wear. It smells elegant, pretty and posh. Very classic womanly scent. If you love classic Roses, try this one.

funeralparty

I love this, it smells exactly like a fresh-cut rose bouquet straight from the florist. Red Roses is elegant, classic, and a little nostalgic. It’s the perfect scent for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and the couple months in between. This fragrance projects well for the first two hours or so but unfortunately fades after that. If it performed better I would give it a 5/5.

KittyDeBeauvoir

I'm trying so hard with this perfume.

A truth universally acknowledged is that a good rose scent is hard to find (See GinCatsBooks for further commiserations!).

When I first smelled this in the department store, it was LOVE. A beautiful, fresh, romantic rose-dominant scent.
Nowadays, this is certainly still rose-dominant, but... honestly, Perfumites? I find this WILDLY synthetic. Eye-wateringly so! It's SO sharp and synthetic. I get the green "realistic stem note", but it's just not realistic to me at all. It unfortunately smells painfully cheap. And I can get down with some cheap scents, believe me, but this isn't doing anything for me.

This and "Tea Rose" by Perfumer's Workshop are clones. CLONES. LITERAL (ATTACK OF THE) CLONES. I actually cannot detect a single difference between them. They're both also exceedingly linear. Whomever suggests there's mint, lemon, and beeswax in here clearly has a more refined olfactory sense than I.

Look, I'm as sorry to write this as you are to read it. To that end, I have a 9ml bottle and will continue to try it out until it's done - I want to change my own mind so desperately.

One positive is that has quite possibly the greatest projection of any Jo Malone scent I have tried! I sprayed this once on one forearm and I got sonic blasted with a rose cloud that still lingers.
On clothes...don't even bother washing your clothes after spraying this - you won't ever smell of anything else. You have achieved Signature Scent Level (whether you wanted to is not my problem - hehehe).

Not repurchase-worthy.

Kitty rating: 4/10.

EmpressVision

From Jo Malone London website:
Inspired by a voluptuous blend of seven of the world's most exquisite roses. With crushed violet leaves and a hint of lemon, it unfolds like a bouquet of freshly cut flowers.

There is no mint. There is no beeswax.

Just an FYI

RoseGrande

I have a 7.5 ml mini spray if anyone would like to swap ☺️

Kaguya

The smell of honey outstrips the rose one and made it smell a bit dry.

Tanya Elaine

I have been on a hot pursuit to find my perfect rose fragrance. I didn’t expect it to be Red Roses, but here we are. At first spray, Red Roses is a fresh burst of dewy rose…. green, fresh, and unspoiled. I appreciate that it is a pure rose scent and that it is fairly linear. It has surprising siliage and longevity for a Jo Malone fragrance. The dry down is a beautiful, beeswaxy, honey rose that is only made more intimate feeling over time. Red Roses is romantic and classic. It’s an absolute love for me!

stephanienwc

This is an absolutely beautiful, natural-smelling rose with honey as the anchor. Fresh and green yet bold and sweet. I am definitely going back for the full bottle. The performance and sillage is beastly too.

barwench

I've only smelled this in store on a scent strip, twice, so I haven't had the pleasure of letting it develop on my skin. It opens to a true rose scent to me. I see now that there's mint listed in the top notes, I detect that in person and I wish I had. As a rose scent lover, this is not complex and I wouldn't get it.

cheleine

Opens as a honeyed red rose, it's velvety and rich. Unfortunately it doesn't stay that way. It quickly becomes citrusy, green and fresh (even a bit cold) and in my mind it basically smells like pink and white dewy roses with their green stems in a vase.

isrsat

A very pure rose scent, simple but quite pretty. I had steered away from predominately rose perfumes for a while because I had heard it referred to as an "old lady scent", but this is so fresh and slightly green that it's like walking through a rose garden.

Frantheone

This is pretty, simple, and minimal. It's fresh rose, nothing more, which is exactly the reason why I am skeptical to purchase. There is no depth whatsoever, which means I will have to layer it with something else, so is it worth the 120€ for an eau de cologne? I believe that I can find something similar for a better price. I would appreciate any kind of suggestion :)

lessthanzero

Red Roses Cologne is one that I'd had on my "to sniff" list for a while. I like it. Tested it at the Jo Malone boutique - one full spray on each hand.

It's fresher than I imagined, not very sweet at all. I wouldn't say it's green, though I suppose what I smell most (beside rose) is an airy violet leaf. At the start I got a strange kind of cumin note. The fragrance starts off nice enough, but smells better and deeper as it wears. It is also one of those fragrances you can't put your nose right on - I can smell it way better on my hand when I hold it 6-12 inches away. Longevity must be pretty good - I've washed my hands several times, and done the dishes since spraying and I am still getting major wafts of Red Roses. 100% Unisex.

Overall, a nice, light, straight-forward rose. 3.5/5

Katchke

The FRESHEST rose fragrance I have ever smelled. Literally feels as though I had been handed a bouquet of the brightest roses covered in morning dew. I even got a whiff of the sticky vegetal smell of the cut stems and it was so REAL. I admit I am drawn to softer more feminine rose scents, but this is such an incredible portrait of a dewy freshly cut rose. Impressive.

Hara1980

This is a wonderful pure rose perfume that lasts for more than ten hours on my skin (which is surprising for a Jo Malone cologne)! I get no other notes except for roses so it's true that it's linear but if you are looking for a pure rose scent that's the choice for you. It's not sweet and fortunately there's no musk in it, something unusual for rose perfumes as rose notes and musk are usually combined.

Tintalle

This is my favorite perfume, and shortly after purchasing the travel size I received a large bottle as a gift from my sweetie. I initially thought the longevity was not very good, but since then I have smelled the lovely honeyed rose dry down far into the next day if I haven't bathed. I enjoy the dry down more than the opening, although I do love the composition in its entirety. On the initial spray, the lemon is pronounced, although the overall impression is of a dewy rose.

As I mentioned, the dry down is very rosy and lightly sweet and the citrus is gone. At that stage it becomes absolutely perfect for my tastes and thankfully it stays that way for a long time.

samanthagram

The most photorealistic rose scent that I've ever smelled. It truly is like smelling a bouquet of fresh roses, it's very green and kind of sharp. I also find the longevity is pretty good, especially considering Jo Malone perfumes are not necessarily known for lasting a while. Even after a long day, I'll find that my room still smells like this when I get home from when I sprayed it that morning. Sometimes I layer it with something like Delina to give it a warmer and sweeter touch

Itslorr

At first spray this smells exactly like Perfumer’s Workshop Tea Rose EDT. Like exactly. This costs a lot more than Tea Rose, so why bother? Personally, Tea Rose smells like crushed dried roses in a teabag (hence the name) steeped in cool water with a strong blast of Citronella candle. That is it. There are no other nuances. Where Red Roses differs is that after a while the citrus mellows, the rose gets deeper, green leaves become more prominent, and I can finally smell that honeycomb. I think I’ll mostly wear this one and leave the Tea Rose for my hike in the woods.

AshBud

Strong, deep, lush bouquet of fresh roses. A tad bit of lemon in the open, but overall a very linear scent. Its beautiful, and I'm glad to have tried it, but truly not worth the price. Id recommend tea rose, or Roses De Chloe for something a little more interesting.

Enrium

As a rose lover, I've meant to try Red Roses for a long time. It is a soliflore - a fresh, initially slightly boozy rose cologne. It really reminds me of the bargain gem that is Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, but RR is richer and rounder with better performance (to be expected, considering the price disparity). A rich, realistic rose note forms the crux of RR, beautiful and classic. It resembles rosewater, being dewy instead of powdery, but is obviously much more concentrated and high quality.

RR is richly rosy from initial spray, given bright freshness thanks to citrus notes and a tiny hint of mint. It is also boozy, which gives it an edge. I don't get any violet, but the violet leaf note adds lush stem-like greenness, forming the rose bush/bouquet.

As it develops, the beeswax adds a hint of honeyed sweetness to the rose, making it rich yet without compromising the integrity of the rose. It remains rosy as it dries down, becoming very dry and slightly musky as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Best worn during spring days.

A linear rose scent, this is a high-quality soliflore that subtly showcases various aspects of rose. Perhaps not FBW for me, as Tea Rose serves my fresh rose soliflore purpose, but is beautiful regardless. For rose lovers. 4/5.

vanrose

Years ago, I discovered that I had a love of rose perfumes, and I bought a bottle of this because I had heard that it was a photo-realistic rose scent. It really is. It’s a beautiful perfume, smelling of a lush, fresh, red rose, stem and thorns and all. It’s very linear, but that’s the whole point. If you are looking for a straight up gorgeous rose, this is what you spray.

RikkiStar

This perfume is stunning. Such a lovely fresh
rose with honey/beeswax in the dry down. Straight to the top of my favourites.

tilapia_johnson

Realistic bouquet of dewy red roses, with sweet subtle beeswax in the dry down. Wish I got the lemon and mint, but perhaps they just add to the greenery of the violet leaf, humid and clear. I love Cayce Heritage rose water, and this is very evocative of that mist.

Shikin27

It smells of rose, beautiful rose. This is exactly what I want. Dont need it to transform and morph into something else. Its basically linear just the way that I want it to be. I love it and cant get enough of it.

msamber86

This starts with an immediate blast of rose. It’s rose and a green element (which is probably the violet leaf), which makes it feel like you are smelling a rose with its leaves and stem. I am a sucker for a Bulgarian rose so this is so lovely for me. Though there is something in the background that holds the rose back from its full potential. I think this is an effort to make it smell realistic, but it prevents you from experiencing the intoxicating elements of a Bulgarian rose. This is a lovely scent, but a little too linear and basic for my tastes. I would prefer a rose scent that takes me through different sides of a rose rather than just one note all the way through.

This reminds me of A la Rose by MFK or Rose Prick by Tom Ford.

If you like the rose in this you should also check out Satin Mood by MFK, Cafe Rose by Tom Ford, and Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle.

dancinginrain

after searching far and wide, this is the only perfume i've found that truly smells like pure rose. it definitely isn't for everyone but if you're a rose lover like me this is the best <3 the only downside to this is that since it smells exactly like rose, you can buy natural rose oil for much cheaper and dab it behind ur ears/on ur wrists lol

jeonheejin

It smells just like roses, if you want to smell like a rose, this is it. If you hate roses, avoid this.

jajakapitan

Not my favourite rose scent. To me it smells very artificial and cloying. Harsh - not a soft and welcoming, warm envelopment of scent that you get with the likes of Paul Smith Rose.

Sk8lin

An excellent linear rose scent.

puddlebrigade

For me and my own fragrance experience, this is the quintessential rose perfume. No other rose scent on the market gets as close to a whiff of rosa damascena, short of actual rose attar and the rose extracts that sell for an equivalent extract of your mortal soul. I'm plaintively obsessed with roses, but I prefer to stay away from the scent of tea roses for the richer scent of damask roses and their wide spectrum of fragrance. Whether it's the Illinois Prairie Rose of my childhood, rosa setigera, or the rosa damascena that made the perfume industry, or the invasive and beautiful rosa multiflora which are taking over native roses in my beloved praries and woodlands, wild roses are a thing to behold in bloom. For a rosarian, looking for a base to complement other notes, start here. Other scents that open too close to candies or gourmands don't have the lofty dreamlike ribbon of silk that I know from putting rose essential oil in a diffuser. Once this fragrance settles into drydown, it activates a sensory experience I only know from the ghostly tonal harmonies of choral music echoing from ancient cathedral ceilings. To bees, damascus rose must surely conjure images of paradise. If Aphrodite were to appear to me tonight, she would be wearing this dripped on her fingertips.

CandyButterfly

If you really love the scent of roses, as I do, this is a very realistic, linear rose fragrance that is totally on-point to my nose. Given this seems an (odd) rarity in the fragrance market, I find Jo Malone Red Roses worth the price. My sister has also been searching for such a fragrance. She agrees with me that this is the most accurate rose fragrance she's sampled, so we bought her a bottle for a gift. Such a lovely fragrance for the rose lovers out there.

Lemon-y rose? I guess one way to make rose smell fresh and bright is to add citrus… for a while though the citrus goes away and I understand all the grandiose comparisons to MFK and Frederic Malle… but, at least on my skin, that only lasts a while. Sad, I wanted to really like this.

Silkselkie

I've been longing to try this one for a while now - and find myself right back at the beginning of my earnest foray into perfume, in search of a good rose soliflore. (I ultimately found it in Hiram Green's Lustre, but alas, that's been heartbreakingly discontinued.)

Don't get me wrong - Red Roses is absolutely lovely, and one hundred percent true-to-life fresh rose petals all the way through, but I just can't justify the cost when I get the exact same notes and exact same performance as with Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose EDT. Tea Rose deviates only slightly, with a slightly more green, dewy quality than Red Roses...but it's a barely noticeable difference, at least on my skin. Even the honey quality is identical - it's a musky effect similar to rubbing petals straight onto warm skin.

I will enjoy my small bottle of the Jo Malone, especially when I need something that travels well - and then feel comforted that I'm not missing out on much of anything but a designer name when I spray my huge cheap bottle of Tea Rose with wild abandon.

thehighpriestess

Literally just red roses; can't smell anything else. It's quite simple and while that isn't inherently bad, it's way too expensive for that kind of simplicity. It isn't headache-inducing but it doesn't fit my image at all.

RottigrlNYC

Ughh I wish they would stop lying. There is no rise in this perfume, just accords and it’s not even done right . That’s why it smells like that . When have you ever smelt a rose that smelt that horrid? When it was dead maybe

Wolfe Tone

Love it. Pure, unadultered, soft roses.

KerriZ

Talk about knock you out Rose...this one is it. If you are in love with the scent of red roses. Its a bit over powering for me.

Gioia's secret

I have received a small bottle of Red Roses as a compliment to my purchase, but I don’t like it at all.
I can detect hear nothing but bouquet of roses, and they are so loud! You should definitely layer it with something else to calm them down🤫🌹
This is definitely not my cup of tea but as I already own it I will probably try to pull this off by wearing it with evening gown or something dark and sexy, idk. I also think that it can be more wearable at winter time.

P.S. the sillage here is unexpectedly good, I wish that Peony & Blush suede had at least 1/10 of RR’s sillage.

Bubbles1964

Agree that this is likable, but still it’s a basic Bulgarian Rose with a little honey and mint scent. Nothing special to justify the price or the redundancy. Still, for a Jo Malone, this has stamina and lasts several hours especially when sprayed on clothes.

turidoddlokken

Too fresh. Sharp, almost. Like a detergent or an air freshener.

stargirlinterlude

In the bottle & on paper it’s the most enchanting rose fragrance. It seriously smells like you’re walking through a rose garden. Sadly on my skin it smells like dirt. This perfume lacks depth but if you’re looking for a simple rose fragrance this is it, i think it would be nice to layer with. Just didn’t work for me

Stoicchild

This is an authentic Bulgarian Rose scent. I wear Tea Rose by Perfumer's Workshop a lot but this one's nothing like that. This one is more sparkly and crisp due to the Mint. Tea Rose smells very yellow like the very deep center of a classic old Rose, this one is zesty! I find Tea Rose a bit more heavier than most Rose perfumes. There are so many types of Roses and it's amazing how perfume houses can capture and differentiate the scents. It's truly a work of art. This one's absolutely gorgeous, timeless and worth having. I don't know how could anyone not like this.

Yurippe

I wanted to love this, but I'm glad I didn't blind buy it. The opening is nice and rosy, but very close to Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose. It then dries down to almost pure honey for me. Not the rose perfume I was hoping for. :(

DaydreamExpert

The opening is a freshly cut rose, (no soap, no powder, no sugar, no musk) thankfully just glorious rose straight out of the florist's refrigerator. The mid is the smell at a Catholic side altar, as you kneel to pray you notice that a kind soul brought Mother Mary roses this morning and you can faintly smell the beeswax candles burning in the silence. The drydown is the smell that is left behind on the skin after one uses rose water. This scent is ultra comforting. It makes me feel safe. This is self-care.

strawbrrymelk

Hyperrealistic pure red roses.

fformoso88

This is a gorgeous bouquet of roses! Longevity and silage are definitely there. This smells so fresh. Perfect for spring and summer but I feel like you could even rock this in the winter. It’s very feminine and pretty. One of my favorite from Jo Malone.

TKP1

Very feminine and pretty. Smells like a rose garden. Very similar to A La Rose Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

StunningGroceries717

THE rose perfume you’ve been looking for!!

For all my life I’ve been obsessed with roses and their scents - especially fresh cut pink roses. Lately on a quest for rose scented perfumes - I tried diptyque, floral street, dior, and this one.

The other ones are more or less underwhelming (diptyque) or overwhelming with other notes (dior). As soon as I sprayed this one onto my shirt i KNEW this has got to be the one. It’s so fresh, clean, you can smell the stems!! No joke

If you’re a fan of rose scents and seeking the cleanest rose scented perfume just take this one!! Trust me there won’t be disappointment

Green & Blue

This has got to be the purest / truest rose scent I have ever encountered. I am so captivated every single time I sniff it. Not a rose type of girl but there is something about this one.

I own other rose fragrances and nothing compares. You get that romantic classy feel in it. Whilst some rose scent out there can be too mature, this gives a young and fresh vibe. After checking, the top notes are lemon and mint, so no wonder. Sexy but not pretentious.

It's been years since I have liked this cologne and and just recently got myself a bottle. My thoughts on Jo Malone Red Roses has not changed throughout the years, which is hard to come by. I can see myself replenishing new ones already when my bottle is about to be emptied. This is going to stay in my collection no matter what.

Isabella_Grace

Received this as a gift as I love rose perfumes. I like it and wear it but it shouts geranium, not rose.

chomolulu

Sometimes you want to wear a signature fragrance, sometimes you want to put yourself in a certain mood, and sometimes you just want to smell like roses. At least I do. And this is a very one dimensional, but beautiful fresh rose.

mylesz

my fav perfume of all time, my mom and sister also loves it. extremely realistic roses, with a touch of lemon. smells exactly like a rose garden- not powdery at all. so lovely, i understand it might not be for everyone but i just love it so much. the longevity and sillage are also amazing on my skin and clothes <3

Controlledbyscent31

Great true rose scent but only candle worthy for me, not something I could wear on my skin. It lacks the depth I'm after.

akoyumi

This is a pure, freshly cut roses scent! It has excellent longevity & sillage, and a lovely green vibe to it.

ParthianRed

This has very little staying power, but it is my favorite rose scent. It smells just like what it says--red roses, freshly cut, kissed by morning dew. Winsome, alluring, tender. Blushing cheeks and shy smiles. The faint hint of lemon keeps the rose from getting too cloying or sweet. Totally one note, but sometimes that's all you want. It's elegant without being staid. It has an ageless quality. I first bought it when I was 21, but I can imagine any woman wearing it at any age on a warm spring day. Unsurprisingly, men love this scent; it is unapologetically feminine. I get more compliments on it than anything else. I have to spray it relatively heavily to get it to last but I don't mind. An eternal favorite for me. I will always buy and wear Red Roses.

NaaatNaaat

If you love roses, I think you'll like this one. It smells very strongly of freshly cut roses and for a Jo Malone perfume, it lasts surprisingly long and it projects really well. The honey note really comes through on me after a while while a lot of the initial freshness disappears but nonetheless, I think this is a favourite out of the lin.

Ghostsong

Smelled a tester of this in three different stores and loved it, both on the test strip and on my skin. Bought a bottle only to find it smelled completely different. Smells exactly like Tea Rose on me, which has a weird bitter metallic note which kept me from loving it. Alas, the amazing jammy sweet rose I thought this was doesn’t exist. If you like this, just get tea rose for its super low price. 🤷♀️

deshenychristelasher

My signature scent. Punchy opening with the lemon, gives it a fresh start. Dries down to authentic dried roses. Reminds me of the time I was a florist working on Valentine's Day.

Ashleighgreen

The most transparent and linear rose. Smells cheap to me unfortunately.

ReminiszentSzent

It’s just rose.

lisajmunro

Such a realistic freshly-picked rose smell! Quite fresh and a little spicy. I can definitely smell the lemon and mint at the start, but then all I smell is pure rose. It lasts a few hours but stays pretty close to the skin, so I can only really smell it if I put my nose up to my wrist. I think this is beautiful and perfect for spring!

racsab

Very pleasant rose smell. Lasted the next day on my shirt when I was sorting my laundry. Like it much.

karinatfragrantica

This is the best realistic rose. As the name says, just red roses. It will always have a special place in my collection as the one true rose soloflore. Sillage and longevity satisfying.

cosmic_desperado

A really realistic, freshly-cut rose perfume. The perfume has a flat structure, I struggle to smell the other notes, all I get is pure rose. I adore this perfume as it's super fresh and has crazy sillage when first sprayed. However I find that it disappears in a few hours and needs reapplying. It's perfect by itself for spring/summer and I love layering it with other rose-based perfumes like Stella by Stella McCartney. This is not a complex perfume so not for everyone but it's probably the most realistic rose scent you'll ever try. I imagine it would make a really lovely wedding day scent.

MsFCAS

A clean, green, sour red rose that isn’t fruity, isn’t sweet. If you don’t like roses this is not for you. But I fucking love rose and love this “fuck off” rose (thank you @GinCatsBooks - we have very similar tastes) that smells authentically like an old fashioned rose.

I grow roses in my garden and it’s the old ones that smell this way. The newer ones sometimes have showier colors and bigger petals but smell like nothing. Give me a heritage rose any day, and a bottle of Jo Malone Red Roses to give me that experience the rest of the year when the real thing is no longer blooming in my garden.

For those interested, the Red Roses candle is also amazing.

alphairone

This is one rose fragrance that doesn't receive much fanfare, perhaps due it being buried in the oeuvre of endless fleeting and gossamer creations from the Jo Malone line that often seem incomplete, skeletal, and without much substance, really. Sure, many are beautiful to start, but the development curve is steep most of the time, leaving a feeling as though the experience is anticlimactic.

Red Roses is one exception, however. This opens as a rose in Technicolor. There are no superfluous dulcet tones, no powder puffs, thankfully no screechy attempts to exoticize. A rose is a rose is a rose here: dewy, green, and somewhat velvety but not exceedingly plush. My technical nose detects a good dose of Rosalva, an aromachem that imparts an aldehydic dewy rose note. It is just the right dose; they found that sweet spot as I have found during my experiments that it can easily overtake a blend if not dealt with a light hand. Damascenone is evident for that ever-subtle tobacco-wine mystery that one could argue makes this rose "red." Then there is this rose oxide in the top notes that lifts it all with this ever slight metallic hue that paints a full picture of the rose in bloom.

I promise not to go all "ATH" on you folks and start using jazz hands but there is one more material from the perfumer's organ that I detect, and this is what I feel is most compelling to my nose. I could swear that Animalis base was included. There is this musky, sensuous, cedary, costus-like quality that others have pointed out but I feel certain that Animalis is responsible for it, and this is what won me over (and apparently repels others who have reviewed it). Oh well, you can't please everyone, but as someone who loves Animalis and its use in some classics, this is why this Jo Malone has appeal for me. It has true development, something to look forward to, rather than leaving the wearer yearning for more...but you have to like a little bit of an edge like I do to fully embrace it and I know that many out there do, so, yes, this happens to be one of my favorite rose fragrances.

clairesque

Very hyper-realistic rose! The opening is a strong and very spicy rose which definitely leans masculine to me. The dry down isn't really spicy but it's still a strong rose that's very green and a little earthy. I'd never really understood what people meant when they said a fragrance "smells like putting your nose right in the flower" until this one. It truly does envelop you in a true velvety rose that smells exactly like your nose is buried in the petals. Red Roses very much gives the impression of smelling a rose in a natural setting with the green and earthy accords. I find the dry down truly unisex, as it's very natural - no soap, no fruit, nothing to sweeten up the rose. Just a straight up rose on the bush. I don't think it's something I'd wear but I'm very impressed with the composition.

Tee

drop tiny of fresh citrus with heart of powdery dried tea roses with honey note at the base. on me somehow this has a slight synthetic quality to it. nothing disturbing but it’s there. yes it reminds me of perfumers workshop tearose- this is airier more lively rose than tearose’s. i like them both for different mood

guillotine

I put this on at the airport in a duty-free before boarding a flight from Melbourne to LA. Then I flew from LA to Vegas. This was all over 24 hours. Still smelled like roses when I got to Las Vegas. My brother also tried it out at the same time, and also still smelled like roses. Straight up, nothing but roses in this scent profile. Like shoving my nose into a rose. Excellent for all genders.

ricep0et

I loved this when I was sixteen or seventeen, now I kinda hate it. Like others said, it's a big "fuck off" rose in a bottle. Currently too strong and too sweet and bandungy for me. Makes me smell so sweet but I wouldn't wanna smell it in a lecture hall or something.

GinCatsBooks

The quest for a Stella replacement continues....well, actually thats not strictly true, its now ended because of this!

Jo Malone's Red Roses is as it says on the label, a big, red F***-off rose in a bottle and I echo what others have said about the longevity being amazing on this, it really is a room rocker when applied with a heavy hand, so please bear that in mind, but when spritzed with a light hand you get a fresh, crisp, easy going rose that you can totally wear casually, to a formal event or to the office.

On first spray I get a very strong Turkish Delight whiff which quickly fades to a more clean, airy rose which is to my nose and on my skin, similar to how Stella opens and dries down, what I love with this is, despite it having beeswax in it, it doesnt smell cloying or thick/sweet, it just adds a more powdery/polleny nuance to the rose, lemon and mint mingle in the background and prevent the rose and beeswax from becoming a syrupy, heady affair, I do wish that the lemon was more prominent though, however. I really cannot say much more about the scent development, it is a fresh, plush rose and it stays like this throughout wear, it doesn't smell stale and the silage doesn't die down either after the 5 hour mark so there is no need to carry it with you to freshen up with.

Rose for some can be quite a challenging note and I can totally appriciate that, it wasn't until I started wearing Chloe, Stella and Nahema that I really got an appriciation for rose, this is not your grandmothers rose, oh no, this is a fresh British rose garden in the morning, picture it; its a warm humid day, you've just had a shower and slipped into a comfortable cotton shirt, t-shirt or flowy dress and gone for an early morning walk where there are dew covered roses, the scent of the roses fills the air as the sun warms them up and the morning dew dries, that is honestly what this scent makes me think of.

Silage is moderate bordering on strong and longevity is amazing at 8hrs from 4 light spritzes, solid love, wardrobe staple and future 100ml bottle repurchase worthy, I LOVE it!

Lisbethtrinh24

My signature, owned 2x100ml bottles. Pure fresh warm classy classic massive rose!!! Cant recommend enough!

gourmandnotes

One of the few Jo Malone scents that has potency, unfortunately Red Roses does not fare well on my skin - turns into the unpleasant, salty stink of dead flowers (or in this case, roses) that wasn't desiccated properly and is on the verge of becoming mold. I use this more as a room spray than a body product. It's a bold, fresh rose if your skin can handle it, and the longevity is not bad especially for a Jo Malone.

Ilaria83

Rose rose e ancora solo rose! Dopo qualche ora sulla mia pelle diventa amarognolo, sgradevole. Riesco solo ad usarlo come deodorante per ambienti

konchokjenpa

This is a gorgeous, strong, and fresh rose. The opening is intense, like the most fragrant fresh cut roses you can imagine, and a little bit green, stems and leaves. After some time the rose blast calms slightly, giving way to citrus and herbal green freshness, with a mist of rose still hovering over the top. It still smells lovely on me 6-7 hours after spraying, and gives the same mental lift as a big bouquet does when I smell it. Just fresh and natural and lovely, like being in a beautiful rose garden in the sun. I wear this all year but in the winter months especially it is a lovely pick-me-up on those cold dark days.

kandykiller

I never liked the Rose note ij perfumes, however because this is only the scent of rose petals& water, fresh, soft, pretty& doesnt smell perfumey& yet this lasts& lasts...to me this is the perfect balance of nature of rose petals& water in a bottle. It has that hint of sweet like hardly there like a whisper, its so pretty for what it is,love& its nothing like tea rose!!!! Oh no tearose perfume is more green stems, of the rose, only& this is way way way more about the rich rose petals& water done so softly& perfect!!!!! This no one can go wrong with...even if u hate rose in perfume like i do this is the only natural, organic rose scent out there that really does not smell like perfume!!!! Beautiful!!!!!

lauren.smells

A very powerful, dewy, and fresh smell of roses, as if they were just cut. Sillage is intense - do not overspray! This fragrance isn't for me, but I am grateful that it helped me learn that I do not like rose as much as I thought I did, at least not as the protagonist of a fragrance.

GiovannaD

This is just delightful! Very rosey, light, luscious with green and fresh citrus bits. Alas, it is the depth of winter, and seems out of place to wear now in the grey-brown and cold, but in spring and summer I cannot wait to wear it with pretty pinks and blues. Yay.

jenniferkuo423

A lush, gorgeous, realistic rose. Red Roses manages not to fall into either the too powdery or too dark extremities that many rose fragrances are susceptible to. I don't sense much of the lemon but the beeswax makes the drydown very pleasantly warm and sweet. If you are looking for a go-to rose scent, this is it.

MissyJ

I don't get the fresh, bright, sweet rose everyone else seems to get. This smells like dried rose petals - almost pot pourri.
Not a fan :(

mthomas45

This perfume can smell so heavenly on some and absolutely terrible on others (myself included). I had owned the lotion version of this and it smelled lovely especially when paired with velvet Rose oud. So naturally I purchased the perfume version, but unfortunately it smells like urine/public restroom on me. No matter what I pair it with after 10-15 minutes the urine smell comes through, I truly believe it is the beeswax/ honey comb smelling note that just does not agree with my chemistry, and possibly the violet as well. Ive never had any other frags smell this putrid on me and it’s the only one that I’ve ever had that has beeswax as a note so I chalk it up to that. I strongly recommend testing the actual fragrance on yourself to ensure it’s compatible.

For those with whom it works with, I think it is one of the loveliest most intoxicating rose scents I have ever smelled. Beautiful on its own and wonderful when paired with other JM scents like velvet rose, peony blush, and blackberry bay. I won’t rate it low just because of my unfortunate skin chemistry combo. If it works with your skin I think it is one of the absolute best rose perfumes out there. It’s

loveparfum

Red rose is one of my favorite after Velvet Rose and Oud by Jo Malone. The opening is very strong rosy scent with the green aspect of stems and leaves. It dissipated quickly and became very pleasant on the skin once the bee wax joined in and it mellow out to a very fresh rose with mild honey sweetness. I am amaze with the realistic note of bee wax can be capture in this fragrance. Two hours into the drydown, the bee wax is in the background and the red wine note appears until the scent disappeared. The wine note here is similar to the dry down in Frederic Malle Une Rose. I find that Une Rose is a more refined version of Red Rose. I also see that reviewers compare this to Paul Smith Rose. I think the opening is similar but it ends there. Paul Smith Rose stayed linear until the end. Red Rose evolve into different stages and very pleasant to wear. Performances are low to average. I layer this with Red Rose bath oil to extend the wear time. Just lovely.

xjordanox

Rose is note I have to be careful with, it's more miss than hit for me. This one falls solidly into the miss category :(

The rose starts off powerful, eventually taming down to reveal an extremely sharp lemon scent, which unfortunately veers into bathroom cleaner territory on me. At this point the fragrance stops developing, sadly I don't get any of the mint (booo) Jo Malone colognes are notorious for not exactly being great performers, but I was really surprised at the longevity and sillage on this one - if you love the scent, I'm sure you'll be happy with how long it sticks around.

If you're a fan of rose, this is a must try, but I personally don't think it's a safe blind buy.

nordhaul

Layered this with Oud Bergamot
which made Oud Bergamot much
more tolerable. Then I added The
Orange Blossom for a gorgeous
scent for bedtime but shouldn’t
Have. Orange Blossom is way
too energetic for bed I’m finding

SmellIng FABULOUS though 🤤

Konga5000

I blind bought this last week as I got a used 97% full bottle for $75.00 online! My collection was lacking a REALLY good rose and I have not made any big purchases in a long time so..... sprayed this on after opening the box at my post office - got home 5 minutes later -- walking up to my apartment - neighbor jogging REALLY far away said "I could smell you coming down the block!" Home run, Jo Malone ! ADDENDUM: My bottle seems to be a few years old - the fluid is darker than any online stock photos so I MAY have a vintage bottle , so take that into account . This is not a fresh new batch. This is why I only buy used and partial bottles now -- you may accidently get a VINTAGE ! Win/Win situation .
P.S. Comparing Paul Smith Rose to this is like, well, comparing Lady GaGa to Madonna. I think y'all know what I mean. I do wish Jo Malone varied the colors of her bottles. Kinda boring looking at the same old for all these years on the other 2 that I own.

Nurses04.

By far my most complimented scent. This is a fresh, bright red rose fragrance. It smells of the petals with a dash of citrus at the top. It projects incredibly well, I have walked in to a room and people have been spellbound trying place what the fragrance is. It is a gorgeous pure rose fragrance. It lasts all day on me (10 hours+) and will last the night in my hair.

kbbyk

Pretty strong rose and hive scent. Still doesn't fade after shower. It dries to the smell of my former UK flat LOL; weird powdery and rosy. It's way better sniffing from the bottle though.

anaterma

in the beginning it knocks you down with great dosage of red roses. the sillage is enormous. but cologne is cologne, after an hour is disappears almost completely. i prefer less intense but very similar molinard rose, it has a better longevity.

ap0plexy

You are eating lemon sherbet from a paper bag, licking the powder from your fingers. It’s mid-morning, and you’re in the conservatory alongside all the freshly cut rose stems from the garden that morning. Your senses are enlivened.

After an hour or two, the sherbet now consumed but still lingering in the corners of your mouth, the cool, green rose starts to come to life. It is not dusky, damascene, jammy, or powdery - this rose is dewy and full of the freshness of the garden at dawn, as secateurs in-hand you trim away.

Continuing with the task, the citron now faded entirely, the roses dry and soften as you stand back and admire the arrangement now standing on the kitchen table. You get a warm, pleasant waft every time you walk by it - the vase has not been complicated by other flowers. You wanted roses, and roses you got.

Later that evening, following dinner, you are tempted by the few jars of honeycomb your father thought he had hidden in the pantry. Why not; you only live once, eh? Sneaking through the kitchen once more, the roses still projecting their undeniable fragrance gently across the room, you crack open one of the jars and steal a spoonful. As you eat it, breathing in deeply through your nose, you think, “What a beautiful summer this is turning out to be.”

-

I bought this blind on the strength of other reviews. I love rose scents, although usually those which are ‘darker’, ‘richer’. Many of them don’t, however, suit these warmer months well. I had this on as I walked home following a thunderstorm, past rows of beautiful gardens. As it mingled with the damp, refreshed air of the evening I was delighted by the uncomplicated way it seemed to tie everything around me together. In the morning I woke up to the smell of honey! Warm and comforting, and surprisingly decadent - I did not anticipate that at all. I just wanted to wallow in bed all day like it.

Sillage is not bad at all, and fact I probably get more compliments on this than anything else. Longevity, especially for Jo Malone, is excellent. This is not a massively complex fragrance, by any means, but the transitions it produces on my skin are really elegant. I can’t get enough of it. This is now my summer staple.

MissyJ

This smells pretty much exactly like Maison Francis Kurdijian - a la rose

Luna1024

On my skin, this scent is just plain rose, I can't detect ANY of the other notes. It's a fresh, airy, dewy, slightly citrusy and very realistic rose scent!
Personally I like it, but I don't love it: at first, I've found it very pleasant, but after a while, it became too cloying and overall just "too much" for me. :( It also doesn't fit well to my personality: I prefer darker, more mysterious and more interesting rose fragrances. Red Roses is very nice and feminine, but it's a bit too "pink" and princess-like for me.

Anyway, I was very surprised (in a positive way) about its longevity, which is very good for a Jo Malone scent: it lasted on my skin about 7-8 hours, with soft to medium sillage. It also can be used for layering, because of its simplicity.

Points: 5/3.

I remember trying this years ago and then yesterday I re visited it at Harrods.

It smells like spicy sharp red roses i preferred it as it started to dry down and the roses were softer and almost candied on my skin. Very long lasting.

Comparing to perfumers workshop tea rose, which I thought would be similar from memory wasnt. Tea rose smells more lighter pinker and red roses is so much stronger and darker in comparison.

nellyrlight

This really is for rose lovers..I am one. I do smell the roses of my childhood in this bottle. First spray is full roses to my nose, then it gets a bit sour..then the base is very close to skin. My husband really loves it more than I do.

Advaitaforever

This is for the extreme rose lovers. It’s a beautiful explosion of red roses with a charismatic and sweet, glistening honey background. The scent is brightened with some sparkling accents and the chilling
Mint is quite apparent in the dry-down. I really adore this scent. It’s my summer favourite 💗. Uber-feminine and oriental.

Tamlin

Starts out with a fresh blast of natural pink rose, but then quickly dries down to something that to me smells a lot like lemon balm, which I associate heavily with those herbal mosquito repellent sprays...

Then in the later drydown the citrus subsides and leaves a pretty generic, powdery rose...

I mean, it's a pretty fresh mix of rose and citrus, but there's a certain piercing sharpness that makes it feel borderline synthetic. It's a bit disappointing to me.

Peaches_

Somebody sprayed this in my office once. Oh I really disliked it. 1. I had a fit of sneezes it really irritated my nostrils and 2. I gave me a huge headache. I’m extremely sensitive to this for some reason. It’s the same reaction with an old Bvlgari one my Mum use to wear.

EMIV

The only rose scent I have ever not disliked. That is about it. Its nice, not sweet or like one of the fragrances used for toilets (which is what most perfumes that advertise roses end up smelling like, imo), rather green, more like a fresh bouquet of roses, just cut to put in a clean vase.

I don't dislike it, its stronger and fresh, but I guess roses really are not my thing. luckily I bought it second hand (from someone who was gifted this, and did not like it...), as a blind buy. It was not a good blind buy for me, and I think that it really is not for everyone. imo, too expensive to gamble with, so make sure you test it.

Light, fresh, but very noticable. I ended up using it as a room freshner-which got me scolded because of the price, I'll see if I can make someone else happy with it-, since I do not really love it for that eiter

ReWeegh

Beautiful realistic sweet Bulgarian red rose. Identical to the Bulgarian rose oil my mother had when I was a child (it was very popular in the Eastern European countries in the 70-80s, sold in a little carved wood container). This also has a bit of a creaminess that reminded me to my favorite Malabi dessert.
I’ve been looking for a truly realistic, not green or sharp rose scent quite some time now, finally found it!
Price tag isn’t particularly purse friendly, but it is a high quality product, and worth it.

Anamandy

This fragrance smells as if you just stepped into the refrigerator in a florist shop where buckets of roses are waiting for bouquets. To me, despite the little bit of jamminess due to the honeycomb intended to add warmth, this is a very cold rose. In my mind's eye I don't see this as a pink rose, a sweetheart rose, or even a tea rose, though it does remind me of the perfume bearing that name. I visualize this as a red hothouse rose with green leaves and stems intended for market; like those being prepared now for Valentine's Day. It is not the smell of a rose grown in-situ in a garden.

I've been searching for a long time for a rose scent that smells like the sun-drenched roses growing in my garden. I love when their scent permeates the air at dawn or dusk. They always stop me dead in my tracks and entice me to draw near to deeply inhale their intoxicating scent. There are few scents on earth as beautiful as that of a perfect fragrant rose in bloom, whether it be a fruity rose, a musky rose, or a spicy rose. Unlike the green notes added to way too many rose perfumes today with the intention of adding authenticity to a rose scent, in nature the foliage of the majority of roses grown in a garden hardly smell green at all. It often smells the same as the rose, whether fruity, musky, or spicy, and slightly woody due to the rosewood stems. Combined with the scent of the earth it is entrancing. I am beginning to think that a rose perfume that perfectly mimics a true garden rose does not exist. Jo Malone, while pretty, is certainly not that rose. In it's favor, I will say that it has remarkable silage and longevity for a cologne.

While this is nice, and I can understand other's love for it, it's not what I was looking for. I've found my dusty, musky rose in Cabaret and Agent Provocateur, which captures to a large degree some of the varieties found in my own garden; and to a slight degree Paul Smith's rose captures a little bit of the fresher varieties. Now, if I can only find a true in bloom slightly spicy garden rose that's stronger than Paul Smith's Rose, but less seductive than Cabaret and AP, I'll be a happy camper. Suggestions welcomed.

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Classic soliflore rose fragrance. Smells very natural. Yes, it is similar to Tea Rose Workshop. Red Roses heavier then lets say Izia Sisley but it is not your grandma rose perfume. It is worth trying if you love roses.

Julie Billi

Amazing authentic rose scent .... I get many compliments and comments that it smells kind of lebanum or myrh... I wonder which ingredient makes this impression

LionsTigersBearsOhMy

Roses are my favourite flower both for their beauty and delicious scent. In my search for the perfect rose perfume I have discovered that it is the soft sweetness of the rose that really appeals to me. I find this in 100% pure rose essential oil, and in fragrances like Frederic Malle Une Rose and Floris China Rose.

JM Red Roses is extremely sharp, loud, hyper-floral and too green to convey any of the sweetness that I need in a rose fragrance. This is "sticking your face in the discount red rose bouquets at the supermarket", rather than "lounging in your mother's rose garden."

istara

Jo Malone Red Roses is the absolute, ultimate pure rose scent, and it's also long-lasting. I've tried over a dozen rose perfumes and this is the ultimate if you want a pure, strong rose.

As a comparison, Frederic Malle's "Une Rose" is more pungent and even more long-lasting, but it's like a wonderful French perfume that smells of rose, not just 100% rose as though you were inhaling a rose, which is what Red Roses is like.

Another comparison: Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose (another monorose) is a lighter rose than Red Roses, like a weaker cup of tea compared to a more intense one. Think Darjeeling vs a strong Ceylon.

However, one interesting discovery I have made is that if I blend Red Roses and Tea Rose, the combination seems to be more intense and long-lasting than Red Roses alone, and I've had people actually comment favourably on the aroma and ask me where they can get it.

Sleepwalk3z

just imagine walking into a rose garden for the first 30 mins then suddenly finding yourself lost at an old warehouse full of wet old woods which is gross and lingers for the whole day long.

ronin.jose

This rose is definitely not an old-school vintage rose wherein it doesn't have that powdery, soapy note in it. This rose has a lemony/lemongrass and lychee note in it that makes this modern but still unmistakably rosey.

I would like to agree to the reviewer bellow with that urinous drydown, but I don't actually smell that, instead I can just sense its possiblity. What I can smell on the drydown is a semi-powdery rose with a little bit of a clean, linen-like musk note underneath with the lemongrass-lychee from the opening-mid faded out, but I could also sense the tendency of a dried urine on a clean rose-scented towel kind of note to appear. It's kind of from a great, great distance. It's like an uncommited urinous note. It doesn't have a tangible & visible form, but rather just a thought/perception/feeling, like a ghost. I'd say that the drydown is my favorite part of the fragrance for that reason. Although I'd like it even more if my skin picked up more of that urinous/animalic note. It would give it more of that vintage-y quality in it.

I really like this fragrance, although I prefer my rose to smell the old-school way, i.e. that granny-ish powdery, soapy bouquet of roses with a musky dried-urine like drydown. It has a comforting, sentimental & nostalgic feeling in it. I'm on a hunt for a fragrance like that though. I find it hard to find a retro, old-school rose these days since most rose in the fragrance counters are injected with that lemon-lychee, clean linen-like white musk note that makes it modern (which is not bad). I'd like for guys to give me recommendations :)

CrazyCrab

At first this is the most beautiful rose perfume I have ever smelled- deep, red, luscious, seductive rosy-ness. It kind of reminds me of the smell of a tudour-style nose gay I made in school when I was little: roses with added subtle spices.

The dry down however smells like dry urine!!! I think it's maybe the beeswax + citrus that's doing this to my nose. The beautiful opening hours cannot make up for the pissy dry down; I don't want to walk around catching whiffs of toilet, worrying that other people think I've wet my knickers. I gave my bottle to my friend and she loves it and can't smell piddle in the dry down.

dcjimr

I’m a man and I layer this with Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber. The longevity is unbelievable, especially for JM...16 hours later and I can still smell this. A very fresh and natural rose scent with a touch of citrus.

Kaleidosaur

This smells exactly like a bouquet of red roses. To me, it's more like the cold and fresh scent of roses straight out of the refrigerator at the florist's, than that of warm roses on a bush outdoors in the sunshine. Maybe it's the mint note? Will definitely buy a bottle of this as soon as I can afford it.

@xoxokeukey

try MFK A La Rose

xoxokeukey

Red Roses has been in my wishlist for 2 years and finally I bought it yesterday.

I never tested or smell it before, I really want it just because read all review here saying "Red Roses by Jo Malone is freshly cut-pure red roses-not soapy roses like grandma".
I love red roses.

I sprayed it on my neck twice.
The top notes is citrusy roses, very fresh, and relaxing in same time (remind me of my bulgarian roses face toner tbh hahaha).
The dry down are roses with hint of honey. So luxurious and feminine..

The silage is very huge, because my mom can notice that I wear new rose fragrance from next room. But for staying power on my skin only 2 hours and trully gone after 2-3 hours.

As a roses lover, I'm so happy to have this cologne. Because Stella isn't that roses.
Any idea for another try of rose parfume?

octobersun

I'm pretty sure that I can smell a bit of incense in the dry down. I'm totally in love with this beautiful scent.

Perfumedsecrets

Red Roses doesn't smell synthetic. It's a bouquet of real red roses. The honeycomb is such an odd note here! You'd think it would make it sickly sweet, but it doesn't. The first spray is pure red roses with a lemon twist. Then the honeycomb and violet leaves. I get no mint in it. This is truly beautiful and romantic. I can see why this is chosen as a wedding scent, but Orange Blossom is more popular for the good luck. Red Roses is the longest lasting of all Jo Malone scents. I wish they all were made to last!

scohn80215

Smells very synthetic.

Lotv73

Well, this one is unusual. I don’t know what to make of it. It doesn’t smell bad or good to me, just different. The lasting power is very good though, so that’s a plus if you like the fragrance .

krsams1

One of the most underrated rose fragrances on the market. And, don't listen to those that say this isn't for men...women ADORE this on me and it layers so well.

Michelle12345678

Absolutely beautiful rose scent with lemon undertones. Fresh, bright, and young.

I got a compliment today from a woman 02/28/2019

Whiteclimax

Don't let anyone fool you! This is not that kind of delicate powdery rose you think it may be. This is strong holy rose myrrh. Smell like a huge bouquet of sweet and mature roses and the longevity is huge.

Wear this and you will fill the whole room with this red roses fragrance.

Katzonair

Not sure if it has geranium in the notes, but I used to have a geranium essential oil which smelled very close to this. It also reminds me of those deep dark red roses (hybrid tea rose Oklahoma), but a bit less sweet. Very different to all my other roses and I’m evaluating purchasing a FB.

Emma0714

Just to explain how utterly insane the stayingpower of this fragrance is:

I sprayed ONE spritz of this on my wrist. That spritz rubbed off onto my jacket. The next day, my jacket sleeve rubbed off on a new sweater, and I am now smelling the sillage of a twiced-rubbed off perfume.

Aleccsei

whether you like it or not... it fills the room and follows you around all day.

For a Cologne, the sillage is HUGE

theLady

I am currently, freakishly, obsessed with this. It actually lasts for an entire day, which is not what Jo Malone does in my experience, so I'm super happy about that. It just smells perfectly of red roses. It's so very lovely. I adore it. That is all.

Update: this was definitely reformulated at some point. I have a bottle from 2018, and it doesn't have the lemon top note which I definitely smelled in an older bottle. I prefer it without the lemon, anyhow.

MoonInAquarius

The rosest rose fragrance to ever rose. OMG. I prefer rose frag with something else, but this was just straight up ROSE. I like Tocca Isabel more, but I can imagine rose fans loving this one.

DO NOT use this in a tester. Once the scent spoils, it almost smells fecal.

tayyabforyouth

Absolutely spectacular fresh dewy wet rose with greenery in the background. This is the greatest rose fragrance, bar none. Of course as a guy I would never wear this, but this is the greatest rose fragrance ever for women. Sillage and longevity are both great.

5/5

Rosemary14

I bought this because I decided I needed some Rose in my life. Jo Malone did it again. They promise you Roses and boy do they deliver. This is so true to Rose I cannot believe it. I also cannot believe it is only merely cologne. A very little bit goes a long way. The Rose note in this is very strong. I can make out the Lemon and the Honey, but the Rose note is intense.

Update: This cologne has lasted all day. I put 2 sprays on 5 hours ago and it’s still going strong on my skin. Still a very true fresh cut rose scent. This bottle should last a long time.

jg2758

I have never smelled anything that smells more like a fresh red rose than this. Not in perfume form, anyways: I had a red rose scented Crayola crayon that smelled exactly like this.

This gives me major nostalgia because of the crayon association. I personally prefer the crisper Roses de Chloe, but it's a toss up which one another person will like, because they're both fresh roses.

Charlieinoz

This is absolutely divine; clean, refreshing, expensive smelling, invoking memories of childhood - smelling roses from the garden. I feel luxurious and uplifted wearing this. If only it lasted longer.

Arlene-Beatrix

Green, sour, very realistic rose scent. Almost harsh, so I guess it's been made for pure roses' lovers.

hannyd168

I have never have enough of Red Roses from Jo Malone this fragrance is NOT YOUR GRAND MA taste "smell fresh and soothing to my nerves"... I am on the 4th bottles now... anytime anywhere whatever occassions... *_* This will be my signature fragrance for very very long-time.

Christycaxxx

Wow the opening spray just brings out a blast of freshly cut roses! Strong opening note of the rose but the dry down seems to have a 360 degree turn and the lemon and violet leaf notes gives the scent a green fresh smell with a hint of honey in it on my skin. Not very strong on longevity on me and it dries down to a skin scent.

Update: I did detect what the other reviewers say the foul smell in the dry down but I thought it was the tangyness of the lemon notes mixed with the mint but that is my opinion.

QingChengXue

I'm a huge fan of rose fragrances and this one is hands down one of the most natural and beautiful. It truly reminds me of the scent of a garden full of red roses in the sunlight - the honeyed note from the beeswax gives it a little more warmth and the citrus keeps it from smelling too powdery. For me, this is the perfect everyday fragrance but can also work for special occasions.

I own quite a few Jo Malone scents and I always find they are perfect to layer together. Red Roses layers particularly well with Myrrh and Tonka for a lovely nighttime or fall/winter scent.

FumeL'ver

Tea Rose, if you want cheaper but just as good of quality. Caught a whiff of someone who smelled of roses and asked her what she was wearing and Jo Malone’s Red Roses was her answer. I told her I thought she was wearing Tea Rose. Both smell like freshly cut, dewy roses.

Raindeavour

Took me a while to like this fragrance. When I first smell it in store I didn't like it, it just doesn't smell floral or rosy to me (at least the opening doesn't). It didn't interest me enough for me to try it on my skin, until I was given a sample of it with a purchase.

I gotta say I'm not a fan of the opening, even now. It's citrusy and green, slightly sharp and spiky. It's not unpleasant, just isn't something I'm looking for in a rose scent. However after the top notes wear off, probably 10 to 15 minutes after wearing it, it turns into the most beautiful rose scent that I fell head over heels in love with. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist all day and eventually bought a bottle of it.

Elegant, velvety and lush, this is a realistic soliflore. Not sweet nor powdery, it's just straight up fresh, beautiful uncomplicated rose. Great to layer with another scent or just on its own.

PinkRainbow

This is the queen of rose perfumes! Pure sweet red rose tempered by a honey vibe. Soft and smooth with great longevity. All day long it came back to "haunt" me at intervals. Not cheap, but worth the price. This is a deep and lovely true beauty.

muahah

Victorian, beeswax and tea with lemon drinking with few distant roses on table.
On my skin at first it was green, harsh rose stems. After 10 minutes it is still rose leaves and stems with bit spicy and powdery note, and faint rose. It have vintage-y vibe and is quite victorian gothic (not necessary black, but rather brown tones). Where are all those red roses? :(
30 minutes later perfume became warmer, green stepped back and still no roses. Old fashioned perfume. Quite strong. Beeswax and aromatic note only adds to make this perfume more unisex and gothic. I had too high hopes and was expecting something different, more rose floral. Not good, nor bad, depends what each are looking for and what fits them, but for me disappointing. I feel I might get headache from this scent.
I wanted to like this. I tried it on fabric maybe it is my skin chemistry that doesn't work with it. But no. In front there is some sweet-ish musky-beeswax, old fashioned vibe and only faint rose resemblance.

If you look for realistic rose this is not it, thou each review say something different. Definitely try sample first.
This is rather warm tea-drinking perfume.
If you prefer vintage-y perfumes you might love this.
If you look for deep, even gothic rosy scents this could be for you.

Mooniq

This is an unisex-scent to me. Dark, heavy, powerful red roses, with a hint of powder and Violet leafs. NO sweet notes at all on my skin. But gorgeous Rose parfum. Not oldfashioned, but not like the modern sweet/surypsweet rose-scents I tried. Not for a teenager, but sure for a woman or a man in the middle of everything in life. 1 spray goes a long way for many hours. 3 spray's - clear the area, no air to breathe...

miyudolly

My boyfriend loves roses so I am looking into realistic rose perfumes/colognes. This one is a pretty natural scent of roses with a slight touch of lemon freshness. But rather than red roses, I smell pink roses. I have an essential oil named pink roses that smells similar to this one. This wants me to wear rose pattern clothing :3
The dry out scent is not that bad you can still smell the roses in it. Just don't shower yourself in this scent but keep it light.

raw umber

Green, bracing, very tart, fresh roses from start to finish. This is strong and lovely but the citronella may turn some people off. I personally don’t smell anything objectionable at any stage in its development. I love this one and have found a close dupe in Pacifica’s Persian Rose. Rose + lemon. Red Roses is really beautiful. I use it as a room spray and a perfume. Lasts forever.

herecomesbob

Really does smell like freshly cut red roses. Lush and velvety, as other reviews have said. As the wear continues, the warmness of the honeycomb exponentially steps out on my skin. Sometimes I get a whiff of citronella. Lasts about 6-8 hours.

2021 edit: this has become one of my favourite frags. It often pulls incense-y on my skin, which is a lovely treat.

Daisydukes

I wanted to post a bit of an update. Personal preference is... well by definition very personal. I read a lot about” chemistry” in some reviews and feel that I’ve added to that line of thinking. I am posting to correct that mistake.

On fabric, on cotton, on paper- the dry down of this is barnyard. My son smells it also. It’s not chemistry. Obviously not everyone is going to be able to smell the “foulness” in the drydown. My daughter can’t and neither can my husband. My son and mother as well as two of my friends can smell the filth in the drydown.

I guess I’m suggesting that if you love this perfume check with some friends and family. I admit that whenever I smell this on anyone, it smells like urine. Definitely not a safe scent.

monbonbon

Red Roses is such an accurate name for this perfume, it’s as if I’m smelling a fresh red rose and I love it.

Reading some reviews here and I’m sorry for those whose body chemistry causes a foul smell from this perfume, I’m lucky! It smells amazing on me, for hours. It doesn’t change much which I appreciate. It’s vibrant and present without being obnoxious or cloying. It smells surprisingly natural. Longevity is amazing, especially compared to other Jo Malone scents- many of my favourites from this brand disappear on my skin right away.

I’ve become a huge fan of rose scented perfumes lately and I’m eager to add this one to my collection. I would wear it all the time, day, night out, after a bed before bed.... it’s just so good! My displeasure with other rose perfumes is that they often smell like roses when you first spray, them dry down into something else, which could be interesting and nice... however I’m happy that there’s a purely rose scented perfume which stays rose scented! So excited to buy this.

WildDove

I'm a real rose aficionado, and the JM Red Roses was a great disappointment for me. Promises far more than it can deliver, at a high price point.

francescasmith94

Smells like a real bouquet of roses. Beautiful but sadly doesn't work overly well with my skin chemistry.

My boyfriend bought this for me for Valentine's Day last year and so I'm conflicted about whether to keep it!

aura_therapy

I am a rose lover and was convinced I was going to love this, but I haven't been this disappointed in quite a while. The opening was a glittering version of Tea Rose by Perfumer's Workshop. There was a faint trace of citrus, or something slightly brightening or cooling that Tea Rose doesn't have. I inhaled again deeply and closed my eyes, I thought it was beautiful! The middle turned into the almost twin sister of Tea Rose, which I was fine with. But 5 hours later I cannot believe the stench coming from my arm. I absolutely cannot believe it. There is a horrifying musky? urine? smell. It is warm animal urine, there, I just came out and said it. I have never had this bad of an experience before. Usually I just say well, that's not for me, but this is the first time a perfume actually repulses me and I do not say that lightly. Thankfully I ordered a sample from ebay and not an entire bottle. Perhaps I was sold a sample that has gone off? The nearest Jo Malone counter is 2+ hours away from me, but if I ever make it there, I will retest. This is no shade to anyone who wears this, like I said I love roses, I feel bad leaving a review like this, but I value honesty in others' reviews and am honest in mine.

modudupup

If a rose by any name is just as sweet, then a fragrance that claims the name of the rose yet lacks its sweetness is no rose at all.

If you love the scent of real roses and if you are a bit annoyed with the synthetic soapy rose found in the majority of today's fragrances, you will love this scent. This is the rose in it's pure form, a flower with such complexity that it can serve as a complex perfume in its own right.

I am happy to say that Jo Malone successfully bottled the tears, the dewdrops of this flower. Layer this with other fragrances for a touch of photorealistic rosiness, or wear it on its own as the beautiful ladies of bygone eras would have.

rziotti

Essa é a minha 2ª preferência da marca Jo Malone. A interpretação da rosa aqui é muito delicada, confortável e acolhedora. Me sinto delicada e elegante quando uso este perfume. Amo !!

This is my 2nd preference for the Jo Malone brand. The interpretation of the rose here is very delicate, comfortable and welcoming. I feel delicate and elegant when I wear this perfume. Master !!

piahellgren

Ultra realistic rose. Better quality than Perfumer´s Tea Rose and I actually prefer this to Sa Majeste, even though SL is a house god at my house. Sa Majeste leans slightly too sour for me, kind of like Annick Goutal´s Rose Absolu. Both are, of course, super nice perfumes, but This little number actually beats them in my opinion. It´s got a clarity that never gets sour and I adore how the mint awakens the senses and the beeswax rounds it all up. Very pretty, classy and easy to love. No weirdness, yet not boring. Applauding!

socorrosouza

I love rose perfumes and Red Roses is one of the best if not the best. Lovely gothic red rose, does not change a lot on my skin but becomes more intense at th 1 to 3 hour mark, a very dark very gothic rose.Red Roses lasts for over8 hours on my skin with huge sillage for 4 hours.

majestic mammy

The bath oil on skin is outstanding
More so than the perfume

cyan

Love the smell of roses in the full sun.
Could tell Rock'n Rose had roses in it.
Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose smells like it is all roses, but without the slight sharpness of red roses.
Stella just does not have enough roses.
Nubiade has wonderful rose with carnation.
Jo Malone smells as if it is all roses, in full sunlight, with all their pungency.
Smelling Jo Malone Red Roses is rose heaven. It is Plato's ideal red rose.
Good silage and long-lasting

And I love the smell of the huge pink peonies in my garden; so does a friend in his. I have never been able to find a fragrance that smells anything like them: Pivoine Flora no; any peony fragrance has been insipid; not full and rich. The first time I wore Red Roses around him, he exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, you smell just like peonies! You smell great!". And he never exclaims about anything and never says anything personal. Every time I wear it around him since, he hangs around.

But to me, its pure, exciting, euphoric red roses.

Prettypucker

Roses, roses, roses, and more roses! I purchased this fragrance yesterday. I spritzed a little on my arm to make sure I truly liked this fragrance. It stayed on my arm all the way until the next morning and sadly it smelled like nothing more than just roses, it smelled very matronly and a bit like urine. This fragrance was such a disappointment, I own at least six other Jo Malone fragrances and I truly love them.

Justapixel

Rose perfume is my favorite, so when I bought a bunch of 1 ml samples recently, most were rose-based, and the first one I put on my cart was Jo Malones Red Roses. I was excited to try it today, right after my package arrived.

It's roses for sure. Real rose. It doesn't smell like a perfumer's interpretation of roses-it's the actual scent of cut roses. Quite remarkable really. It smells like you are holding a handful of fresh cut red roses. You smell the flower, but also the stem and leaves.

I should adore this. It's exactly what I was looking for when I began my hunt. And yet, I don't have love for it. Perhaps it's too literal for me. It's what I thought I wanted, but maybe I need a little creativity and another flower after all. Stella is a beautiful rose but has a hint of peony, Paul Smith has tea. Both perfumes are undeniable rose perfumes, but they have some depth that makes them "rose in the rain" or "rose in mixed bouquet" that I'm shocked to discover I wanted after all. I thought I wanted only rose, and I'm wrong.

The mint and lemon and beeswax in this fragrance are negligible but anchoring to create the whole plant, including the stem and leaves. It reminds me of my memory of the rose fragrances I loved as a child, or the rose essential oils I used to love.

It is a lovely fragrance, don't get me wrong. Beautiful for many occasions, worth the money and worth the compliments you'll get if it suits your skin. If you are just beginning your hunt for rose perfumes and try this first, you may have found the one, the holy grail. If you want an exact representation of rose, this is it without a doubt. . But if you have been through a lot of perfumes with roses as the main accord looking for this-when you find it you may discover that you actually like something a bit more complicated.

I'm quite conflicted as this was the fragrance of my dreams. But apparently, my dream has morphed. I am unsure whether this will go into my collection or not.

natasha.wahyudihardjo

A true rose perfume, but sadly this grows nasty on my skin. It smells okay upon spritzing but after a while I smell like someone who hasn't bathed in days then gets showered endlessly by essence of rose. I smell like a dirty rose. Does this happen to anyone too? I like it only when it's not on my skin.
