I own a vintage bottle from 1996. Smells like an interpretation of Summer rain near a garden. Not particularly ground-breaking but well made and does not smell synthetic to me. Long lasting but won't project (and/or annoy anyone). Slightly masculine because of the freshness/strong aquatic note. I got it for the nostalgia. I was a child in the 90's but I still remember that decade. Anyway. I assume it's a great aquatic non-beachy fragrance for everyday Summer wear. Suitable for heat waves and the office.

rasteria

The new one is similar to the eau par kenzo, but 3 times deluted. The citruses are not as bright and the mint is non existent. Can provoke some good memories though.

Something in this fragrance smells off and unbalanced to me. I get the pretty lillac in the opening and the lotus soon after, but they are mixed with something super sour (probably the reed) I also get some honey like sweeteness, but it always mixed with this green sourness and I can' t find the overall composition pleasant.

Ps: On skin it smells slightly better than on paper. Much less sour. 5 /10

Cherryz

This is the freshest aquatic fragrance I've ever smelled, it was my favorite for many years.

"L'eau par Kenzo" hasn't been produced for at least 7 years now, I have no idea why fragrantica still hasn't updated the name/ added the new one. It's now called "L'eau Kenzo pour femme", in the same bottle. I have both (I ordered the first version in a decant) and they are identical.

My senses have changed though, and the memory of this fragrance smells better to me than it is now. After revisiting, I smell something very synthetic and a bit screechy somewhere in the middle of the dry down. Maybe it was there before and I handn't noticed. It also lacks the depth I remember. It could be because I don't smoke anymore. Nonetheless, it is the freshest aquatic ever, I still wear it from time to time. It suits all kinds of weather and doesn't need overspraying in the winter.

Msala140

In love with the opening. Get a blast of that sweet mint along w water lily like the taste of a cold fizzy drink w mashed up mint. In the middle note I get a lot of the pepper and reed gets strong on my skin along with some mint , cedar and musk. However after an hour it just disappears. Wish it would last longer

Deulseobs

I usually love fresh scents and aquatics--and the opening and base is quite nice-- but something about the middle just smells too artificial / plasticy to me. Smells too much like perfume.

MariaGabrielaKristina

For me is green, fresh smell. For daily use in spring or summer long days. Something softer than DG-Light Blue and harder than Oriflame-Sun, somehow reminds me a both of this perfumes.

siamesedreamsx

I have a bottle of L'eau par Kenzo from 2012 that I just finished. ADORE that one. Beautiful scent that reminds me of outside, but very aquatic - can't even describe it, but it gets prettier as it dries down on my skin.
I just ordered a bottle of "l'eau Kenzo" (without the "par") and OMG, something in this (the opening, anyway) makes me want to straight up vomit. :(
It's being returned.
I truly hope that if I order a bottle of l'eau par from eBay, that it will smell identical to my first bottle from 2012, and that these are two VERY DIFFERENT separate scents.
Someone else here said they smell the same. I do not agree. If anyone has further thoughts/details/info on this, please share!

Aeiris81

It is so upsetting how weak this is, especially since it is such a memory vehicle of summer in the 90s. It is still the scent I remember and loved but it's dilluted down to less than 30 minutes and I could bathe in this and still would be a skin scent almost instantly. Also, the bottle. The one shaped like a drop was so beautiful, this one is just uninteresting if not plain ugly.

Divine grace

I'm reviewing L'Eau Kenzo not L'Eau par Kenzo here coz I don't know what's the difference but L'Eau Kenzo is really nice fresh clean smelling scent, Oliver Cresp is a master in making Clean scents, it's great for hot sunny summers, so refreshing smell, I only wished it lasted longer coz I love the smell, price point is good overall 9/10👍
Edit: After wearing this for a few days I'm lovin it so much 💗 it's my favorite clean scent now 10/10
I even purchased L'Eau par Kenzo to see the difference, I find them quite the same smell

hashizotchi london

another scent that reminds me of my childhood. it was my very second perfume - at the age of 14. I would then get it every several years - always brings me back to 1999 - it encapsulates the essence of the 90s - its cool charm, cold chromatic colourway combinations, Nike Airmax 97 Silver Bullet model shoes, white plastic Apple products, and baby G watches. it's very clean and creates a sense of more air and space around you. Truly magical smell - that's what air smells like near the crystal clear water in the blue and the sunshine. It smells fabulous on others - I actually fell in love with it having caught it on a person I met at a party when I was 14.

Msala140

It’s a nice refreshing scent. Some ppl say it’s masculine leaning but I don’t think so- smells feminine enough for me . The opening has a nice sweet mint touch to it which I absolutely love . Then I get that water lily note , which reminds me more of a pond scent not so much oceanic scent but it’s very aquatic nonetheless. It then dries down on my skin to that nice sweet mint with musk . I probably get like 3 hours worth of it , then again I’m in FL so I’m constantly sweating so it just might be on my skin. It works perfect for this humid heat, since it’s nice and refreshing. I do wish it would last longer , the projection is a bit minimal , maybe you can catch a whiff if you were walking by me. I use this mainly to run errands or to freshen up at home

stellaracorrea

This perfume is unique. It's so elegant and chic that it can easily be considered an important part of your look for the day. If you wear jeans and a T-shirt, this perfume will give your look a swank and elegant touch. Whenever I wear it, people mention it as an "elegant/rich people perfume." It is an aquatic fragrance, but the middle and base notes are very present, making this perfume suitable for evenings and colder seasons.

@aeysha.ferdous:The perfume bottle has changed more than 15 years.
The shape was like a drop.

My bottle says “L’Eau Kenzo Pour Femme”
And the bottle is different than the fragantica website shows. Anyone knows why??

k u r i o n e

A really beautiful, unique, complex, modern, and refreshing fragrance that reminds me of a cold, crystal clear lake or pond filled with flowers and vegetation. On my skin, I pick up a cat pee-type scent in the opening, but after about 15 min., it fades and follows with beautiful heart and base notes. The base notes in particular, are really pleasant--a very clean, soft, aquatic floral.

bagaceirababy

I used to have this fragrance a long time ago. My aunt passed it down to me and I finished the bottle and never thought about it again. But then with those new trends of “clean girl” this came back to my mind. When I think about the “clean girl” this is the ultimate scent and I haven’t seen people talking about it at all. Maybe I should gate keep this, now days the worse thing it can happen to a fragrance is when it becomes viral haha
Maybe I should get myself another bottle of this understated but beautiful aquatic goodness.

CuppaTea23

To me this is the perfect spring/summer fragrance. So fresh and beachy without the typical coconut/tropical notes. Great for everyday wear.

Yalamddd

Love this! I think the majority of the other notes are able to cancel out the cedar/musk. It's crisp, fresh, bright. Not particularly sweet, though I wouldn't have been bothered if it were. I *think* the reed and the non-rose florals are coming through pretty hard, but not in a funeral home sort of way. It reminds me of a beach day.

Silvii

Not my cup of tea. It was a blind buy and I regret it. It's very 90s type of perfume, along the lines of Tommy Girl and all those types of simple (very little complexity) almost cologne type. It's a cool, green type of smell. It's not bad, just not for me. I prefer more light, feminine type of smell. This perfume makes me feel like sitting by a pond full of lotuses...may sound nice, but not to me. If I sprayed it more than once I would have had to scrub it off.

silverlocusts

I wanted to like this one more than I did. It is okay, but it actually smelled so much better on my husband. It is a soft aquatic scent, and for me it was a little too soft on my skin. I wanted a little more oomph out of it. I passed mine along to a friend who likes unisex fragrances, and I hope they're getting good use out of it. It definitely is straight-up unisex in my opinion and could easily be worn by someone of any gender. Light enough for an office or for someone who doesn't want to overwhelm, but if you're used to big, loud scents or even scents with some amp to them, this one is not for you.

stacia79

Smells of mint, melon, cucumber and clover. Maybe just a touch of lily. Breathtaking crisp and clean. It smells like summer dreams and hope in a bottle.

Flared Maple

This is what a fresh and clean perfume should smell like in my opinion. I have never found another scent that has such a lightly sweet, aquatic sillage. Spraying this on after a shower makes you feel clean all day.
The opening smells a bit more interesting than a generic aquatic fresh scent, but the magic is in the middle notes. The sillage suddenly becomes much larger. You will be smelling the middle notes like a cloud around you for about three hours. The dry down still smells very clean, just a bit warmer. On skin it retains the aquatic notes a bit more, on clothes the vanilla is more noticeable.

I feel like you can quickly overspray this EDT though, as the middle notes are so strong.
It might be my skin chemistry, but one spray on my wrist is enough for me to notice it for a couple of hours.

LadyM

I didn´t know L'eau pour Femme before but I got it as a birthday gift this year. Composed of pepper and peach, my top favorite notes, and created in 1996. The best and the most nostalgic gift for my 30's that instantly takes me to the times of Spice Girls, Friends and latin telenovelas of that era.❤️🙏🏻
Unfortunately, the silage and longevity are very, very weak. Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger, also created in 1996, is one of my signature scents since very early on. However, if I had discovered L'eau by Kenzo instead of Tommy Girl, definitely it would have been my signature.

venussansfurs

Vintage 1990s bottle. I might love this were it not for the pepper notes, which tend to overwhelm the rest of the composition. Otherwise, it's a cool, gentle fragrance that's choice for a rainy day.

Alciia

Smells exactly like Marc jacobs rain, maybe a little less sweet

Milena94

This is the definition of fresh and clean. But not in a chemical way. It’s a refined, subtle perfume that blends in well, but is still present enough through the day.

Tarine

I am interested in this perfume since it’s someone’s favorite. I tested it at a department store.
From the beginning, it’s fresh, but something weird stuck my nose. I have no idea what it was, however it has gone after 10 minutes. It was very beautiful smell like a woman who slightly makes up with flowerly lotion. I could smell some peach and flowers. It sounds strange, but I could catch watermelon scent.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t last at all. After 40 minutes, the scent has almost gone.

bossmama

Peppery musky aquatic floral. Salty and reminds me of sweat or tears. Not entirely unpleasant thanks to the fresh soft floral notes with hint of sweetness. Have to say my bottle is the old one with "Par" on it so I'm not sure whether the current bottle without "Par" on the name is the same scent or not.

emjh

Just rebought a 30ml of this fragrance after many years. I'm 40 now and I used to wear this in my early 20's. It feels very nostalgic and still smells the same to me as it did back then. It's a safe and comforting fresh floral aquatic, without being marine. I feel at peace wearing it today.

Edit: five months later and I still love this, and my husband enjoys to wear it too

Florence in Florence

They might have changed the formula because it doesn't last long at all!
It's such a shame as it's my favourite perfume of all times, I wish they change it back.

FiaM

Just tested the Vintage (Oval bottle with blue ring on cap) AND the New Release (clear, rectangular, wavy bottle)

VINTAGE: Smells appealing in the bottle. Upon application, the top notes are non-existent I smell a bitter Pepper & Violet. (my face is scrunched up) as the alcohol burns off it mellows to a beautiful scent reminding me of a dry floral. The beauty is short lived as the base notes appear within 20 minutes. Cedar dominates. I really wish I could wash this off.

NEW RELEASE: Ah! The promise of the Reed and a whiff of Mandarin, but it's not a main player. I even smell the lilac! The middle stage is lengthy, fresh and clean. 20 minutes in and the base notes are behaving themselves anchoring the Water Lily. This is lovely.

Both bottles were full, so oxygen degradation did not factor in much. Final thoughts....my chemistry hated the Vintage, I would purchase a bottle of the new

A.J.lamp

Citrusy and Aquatic. Crisp white linens and soap and Oranges. Think of a cozy white hotel room of a resort with blue and white furniture and a sofa, with a big bowl of Oranges.

lucidvisi0n

What is the difference between L'eau par Kenzo and the newer L'eau Kenzo? Because I don't see a page on Fragrantica for regular "L'eau Kenzo," and I have no idea which one people are writing reviews for here.

I recently tried L'eau Par Kenzo. I thought it would be better/stronger/longer lasting than the new version, assuming "L'eau Kenzo" is a reformulation. I'm glad I didn't blind buy a vintage full bottle for over $100 because I sadly don't like it that much. I don’t know which note is throwing me off, but it just smells "old." Maybe one of the florals just doesn't agree with me, or maybe it's turned, I don't know. I like fresh perfumes and some aquatics/ozonics/marines, so after reading the reviews here I truly thought I'd love it.

Maybe I should try the newer L'eau Kenzo. I just wish I knew what the difference was. Maybe I'll email Kenzo co. on their site. If anyone who's tried both versions has any insight to add, that would be helpful to people reading up on this (/these) perfumes!

SalinasL

On first spray I thought I’d found another favourite. The lilac was immediately noticeable but gentle, as was the elusive suggestion of dew drops with none of the chemical harshness of so many aquatics. And just the right amount of fresh, ambiguous green-ness for my personal taste. For all of fifteen seconds I was mentally crossing off all the perfumes I could do away with now that I found this one. Eclat d’Arpege, Jardin Sur La Toit, all the Isseys... until it started to smell familiar. Then I realized it was morphing into a carbon copy of Green Tea Lavender on my skin, which is not terrible, but I already have a giant bottle of that and never reach for it. All I can smell now is coarse green tea and citrus. After its beautiful start, I’m just left feeling deprived.

valevaleria

Don't really get any other note but aquatic and that is great in this one. Fresh and elegant. It has been more than 20 years since I got my first bottle of this one and I have come to realize that I can not be without it for too long.

CindyLouHoo

This takes me right back to the late 90s, to the mall, to Gap, to girls wearing Abercrombie tank tops. To teenagers crowded at a football game on Friday night. It is a flowery aquatic vibe, for sure. Inoffensive. Light. Nothing brilliant; don't quite understand the reviews waxing poetic below (the ones that swayed me to purchase). Safe blind buy, if you like light and fresh and grew up in the 90s like me. This is not a statement perfume, nor anything that someone over 19 would wear.

soulofscent

Nice and riskless scent for me everywhere. Must be in bag or car everytime. So, futurist fahrenheit.

BlancheNeige

At first I kind of liked it, but the more I smelled it the more I didn't like it. I find that it has an overly fresh and soap like scent, very similar to a perfume for babies or little kids.

suzettefsy

My favorite perfume for 24 years. So clean smelling, and such a beautiful scent!

Naelah

This is mainly green, spicy and herbal. these are the only notes i got. for me this is unisex.

echurch1979

This is not a just a fragrance, but a space defining, ethereal openness. The scent is absolutely transparent; a dazzling, free-flowing, intangible air opens the lungs. That is not to say it doesn't possess substance; it is to say the composition transcends the confines of its space. This perfume becomes the breath around you, and feels thoughtfully unimposing. Green and aquatic notes are in total balance and lift vertical space. Fresh and musky elements create horizontal blithe and longevity. I guard myself against saying its perfection. At times, it comes across as a bit synthetic and sharp, and one can over spray, thinking more will be better. However, as a whole, it is truly beautiful. Even the pepper notes are calmly assertive, and rest peacefully with flirty touches of peach and mandarin. This seems to be another Kenzo perfume forgotten, and thankfully so, because prices are reasonable and supply is obtainable. What a lovely surprise to find such a spiritually clean scent after a long, oppressively hot summer.

Juttajii

So clean, fresh and beautiful. I can't believe I found this only now, as this is absolutely too young for me. But I love it so much, I don't care. Being forty means wearing whatever I want.

Funny that even though I get mostly flowers in this one, it seems somehow androgynic, almost masculine to me.

ninehuss

First few seconds of spraying and you will be hit with the sharp scent of mandarin orange and reed. Few seconds later, you will detect the floral and pepper until the scent finally settle at cedar with a hint of white musk.
Smells great actually if you can bear with the initial sharp smell.

Rangel7

Fresh, aquatic, subtle and pretty. It's very well balanced and stands the test of time. This fragrance feels modern and able to comfortably sit by more current offerings without seeming out of place. Don't picture your usual melon/lotus bomb from the 90's: this baby was a little ahead of its time.
Though introduced as feminine, I can see it easy becoming unisex nowadays.

aldinatic

its to soft, for folks who like it fresh, great.water lily and reed.

Clare101

This is a beautiful, unique, fresh floral aquatic. This is a real standalone beauty. I say this because in the 90s when this was released there were dozens of other aquatics that were released but unfortunately a lot of them are too heavy on the lotus!/melon for my taste. This is something else. This is incredibly well balanced and calming. It has a definitive top, middle and dry down. It starts off quite green with a tea vibe, then the lilacs come out and in the end you can smell the water lily and vanilla. Such a genius creation. Keep this in production forever kenzo!

GinCatsBooks

This is just beautiful, the most natural smelling aquatic that I've come across to date!

L'eau par isn't widely available in the UK, actually other than Kenzo World and Flower, we don't get many of Kenzo's other offerings (at least, to my knowledge) so when I saw this circulating around on Fragrantica, read the notes list and fell in love with the really cool bottle, I went on a mission online to try and get a bottle.

So, firstly I thought this was discontinued but its still on Kenzo parfums' website, and there are new flankers of it about on there too. Notino stock L'eau Par on their website and Allbeauty also stock the 50ml and 100ml bottles, so I'm glad I can repurchase this one when my currently 30ml runs out.

If anyone looks at my wardrobe, I have a lot of summery, citrussy and aquatic fragrances, but I really wanted something that was different from L'eau D'issey (cold, wet flowers) and Davidoff Cool water (salty melon, juicy fruit gum) that was more grassy, fresh and maybe a little bit sporty, L'eau Par is all of those things!

So, L'eau Par is fresh, its cold, super clean and very modern/city-like, the first spritz is a really strong citrussy hit which sort of veers into bathroom cleaner territory but it settles into an icy, slightly floral and grassy scent, but theres something in this which gives it a vodka/gin like nuance as well, not quite sure what note or combination of notes does that, but it really makes this feel like you're drinking either a fresh, iced gin and tonic or an iced glass of water.

Silage is very good, being on lockdown, I'm around my parents a lot and they have noticed the refreshing breeze coming from me and have positively commented on it, the longevity is very good, I can get about 7 hours worth of wear from this with 5 sprays.

I think this may actually become my signature scent, its so effortless and fresh, I'll be ordering a bigger bottle soon because I don't think my 30ml bottle will be full for very long!

louiee

Just rebought this...
I had it and loved it in my younger years.

Crisp, light and acquatic. Clean, fresh and cheerful. Water lily and minty. The beauty Lise within its simplicity.

I still love l´eau par kenzo and it will be great for summerdays.

Longevity and silage is about moderate on me.

Mirella86

This is one of those perfumes where its beauty lies in its simplicity. It's easy as a breeze, very light floral, very common in a way, but yet, so special, so airy, like a little cloud surrounding you. I wear it in the spring, because it's a breath of fresh air after all the heavy perfumes I wear when it's cold. For me, it says "Welcome, spring!"

zspetrova

This perfume is very dear to me. When I was a kid my dad used to buy testers and the first two I remember are Bvlgari BLV pour femme and this one. Whenever I smell this one I almost tear up. I owe these perfumes my love for scents.

AmbuEnak

This kenzo Bring me a lot memory about 10 years ago and today is 2019

Sniff this while listening piano n guitar instruments from Ukraine musicians... Just wow.. Clean and powdery and so relaxing...
i Love this perfume ..every notes is pleasent to me

meliecat

This is so not for me. Too fresh, nothing there to keep me interested. Kind of a cheap vibe to it too. The drydown is a bit better than sprayed on fresh, but still..No, not for me. I like Parfum d`Ete though, it`s proper crisp fresh, a bit more interesting.

EDIT: 2021 AUGUST - I came across a small bottle recently and tried it again. It's summer, scorching heat, so I'd only touch certain scents with aqua-ozonic notes now. I've used this a few days in a row now and it's growing on me. I get waterlily and pepper mostly with a bit of synthetic musk, synthetic citrus and something fresh, probably mint.. I still don't think this would make it anywhere near my top 20, but nice to have it now anyway, to try something different. Other than that I'd put it in the same ballpark as Elizabet Arden's Green Tea flankers.. It works great especially after shower or in the morning when you start the day. Longevity isn't great, I have much cheaper edt's that go for hours.

peppertoki

I think of this as my favorite and signature scent. When you wear this, you will feel calm , pure, loving and intelligent. Slightly gives the feminine tone, but generally feels like unisex scent to me. Suits every season; especially in summer. I wear it often in daily basis.
This has so much meaning to me, because this is my first perfume I ever bought for myself. I fell in love instantly while shopping. Until then, when I was a teenager, didn't wear any perfume. When I became 20s, I started to wear some of my sister's perfume. However, those were generally too floral and sweet to be comfortable for me. In my world then, I thought every perfume for female smelled like flower, citrus and sugar...so, Kenzo was a pleasantly surprising scent.
First impression of this perfume would be 'scent of fresh water'. It feels a lot like swimming. Or, feels like moist fog at dawn. I can't really pin down the scent.

arielX

Beautiful fragrance for women and men. Obviously marketed for women, but the flowers are a good addition to a modern male who doesn't need to put ton of musk to feel like a "male". Not for all guys though, if you're typical musk type of scent guy avoid this.

Can't say anything bad about it. Recently felt a breeze of air in the beach with a woman wearing this. I was like "wow, so pleasant".

sancerre

Clean, crisp, delicate and aquatic scent.

mashafelixyasha

This was my mum’s signature through the early 2000s. She has never been into oriental or heavier type perfumes. I was in my early teens at the time and would sneak a few sprays whenever I could. It feels like a gulp of fresh cold water from a well on a hot day. So refreshing, well-balanced, beautiful and elegant. I’ve yet to smell anything that’s similar. Unfortunately it doesn’t last very long.

AleksOud

Water with black pepper and nutmeg.

I was maybe 14 when I smelled it for the first time and it was the first fragrance that I truly loved. Back then it would have been my everyday choice but today I am opting for after-work Friday party when it's very hot.

leda_ripa

This perfume reminds me of Elisabeth Arden - Green tea.

justfloral

"Lemon-y" and "honey-ish" scent of field mint flowers (Mentha arvensis).

efox

although not a fan of aquatics I purchased 50ml of this gem in my early twenties so this is a review pre reformulation. It was a beautiful summer scent, with the waterlily being the most prominent on me. Even though it was a fresh scent, it did not feel 'cold' on me. The vanilla gave it a lovely soft warm vibe while allowing it to retain its water-like refreshing character. I could not pick up any other specific notes, very well blended. the staying power was not great and neither was sillage, touch ups throughout the day were required. It felt very romantic and I was recently reminded of it when given a sample of Hermes Merveilles Bleue. I may have to reconnect or explore in this direction.

cookygirl

From the five Kenzo minis that I recently received I had my hopes pinned on this one. I love aquatics, and reading the reviews, I was sure I would love this.
So, after testing, it is indeed a very pleasant and wearable scent but I am not at all in love.
The lilac and the water lily are overwhelming on my skin, meaning that this fragrance reads as quite sweet, almost like honey. I do get some mint and some pepper but they are gone way before the fragrance has begun to dry down. On the whole, the fragrance on my skin is warm when I was anticipating and hoping for something cooler.
I am also disappointed in the longevity.
After five hours it was gone.

Midnight Lady

That's a freshness in a bottle. If water had smell, it would smell like Kenzo L'Eau (the house shortened it from original name L'Eau Par). Have never been into fresh scents but then I found this one and totally fell in love with it.

Wearing it makes me feel like I've just came out of the cold shower. There's something very special and significant about Kenzo's L'eau fragrances (both the female and male version), it's not like any other fresh summer scent, this one gives you not just a refreshment, but the complete scent with idea and character. All the notes work great together.

Lasts quite long on me considering it's EDT. Have been treasuring this during summer for years. An absolute gem.

To me 9,5/10

Stimul

To me this one is overwhelming and it's bewildering me. It's probably my skin chemistry. I purchased this one mid-summer when temperatures were about 35 C expecting to have a nice and fresh summer beach fragrance as everyone recommended. Alas, I could hardly stand it. Somehow it's too much for me and makes me sick. The colder weather the more I wear this. It's now January and freezing cold outside and I notice that I grab it preferably. I even like it now. Again if I spray it extra I notice it badly while I'm indoors so to me this is not a "water" smell.

ladynaqua

A full of character aquatic perfume. You can smell the fresh air, the sea, the skies and even the clean shower that washes the sea salt of your body ... white flowers gives it that feminine edge but to me this is an outdoor , gym, office perfume .. Very special and dear to me.. very distinguished also is the pepper note ...

kristen0129

L'eau par Kenzo was my signature in my early 20's. I was wearing it for daytime, night time, dates and travels. It reminds me of parties and how well my scent was mixing with cigarette smoke in the air...
Initial notes for everyone were different as much as I can remember. Sometimes I retouched perfume over the day and it always got positive commentary. One person said it smells like grass, the other friend said it's delightful cucumber. In my own space L'eau Par Kenzo was green and fruity, the cool aquatic notes didn't last long on me, but I could sense ripped peach, rose and vanilla musk till the late night.
Too bad it was discontinued, now I can't see it anywhere.

JuliaQueen

The cedar in this takes away from the beautiful aquatic freshness of this fragrance and makes me not want to reach for it. I wish there was no cedar wood here, it gives such an annoying masculine not to this. Other than that, it's like a juicy watermelon, beautiful flowers and a cool fresh breeze, the cedar is like a man creeping up on all this goodness and ruining it all.

hgaki63

変に甘くて使いどころに困る。
真夏に使えるほど爽やかではなく、真冬に使うには軽すぎる。
本当に使いにくい香水。

Arlene-Beatrix

Top notes are sharp but luckily, not for long. When it mellows down, it's nice, fresh, water lily, reed and mint fragrance.

dglightblue

citrus lime and tea leaves to me.

Perhaps the listed accords are hiding. Winter test, tested in summer too, it's pretty much the same.
I might need to test an absolutely brand new bottle if I can be bothered.

Not bad, not great, depends on you. Generally kenzo has well made offerings.

weeradej

I didn't like L'eau par Kenzo the fist time I tried. But later when the scents developed it smelled so good. I found it also a very seducive scent, must be from musk. It's suitabke for summer giving fresh feeling. Later when I move to Germany I found one product DuschDas Shower feeling Deospray smelled very much like L'eau par Kenzo.

unlitcigar

For me this is instant migraine in a bottle. Smells a bit like kenzo flower, another headache bomb with additional chemicals to make it worse. Sorry it's not for me.

aqua76239

I prefer sweet gormands usually but this fragrance will always have special place in my heart. When it first came out, I fell in love with it and went through two bottles of it, mostly because it doesn't last long so you have to keep spraying yourself. I don't find it very floral actually-if water and air had a scent, this is what it would smell like. another reviewer said it smells like rain-I think I get the same feeling from it. Its very aquatic, ozonic scent. Its not fresh like Cool Water, not flowery like fresh like Halloween(J Del Pozo), its just smells like fresh air, with a touch of sweetness.
At the time I started wearing it, I moved thousands of miles away on a whim, to completely new place. It was scary but yet exciting. this fragrance will forever remind me of that time in my life

dglightblue

Made me recoil

Lime
Tea

End notes fra better but by then it a floral skin scent only.

nodamecantabile

I quite like it: it has this watery ozonic quality that is a pleasure to wear in warmer weather, especially on cloudy and a bit windy days.
But I can't stand this one for a long time, strangely.
Very headache-inducing to me.
What a pity!

fay-rose.moutzouri

I am in love with this perfume ! Perfect choice for people who love white florals and aquatics...Not too sour or aquatic or sweet ! Also great for every age.

Longevity: 7 /10
Sillage: 8/10

Konga5000

This is my FIRST Kenzo and it was a blind buy at Marshall's so I did not know what to expect.
$20.00 for a one ounce bottle that looks like a melted ice cube.

I knew Kenzo was a "quality" house-- so at worst I'd have something I could re-sell at my local flea market !

LILAC! I did not expect that as the box pictures a white flower with a blue background.
Lilac then watery grass....greens....sweet...lazy.....pretty....giddy...
My favorite Lilac is from Pacifica and this one is good too--and develops more. The ingredients are natural smelling and high quality!
Longevity and projection are fair.

Nice blind buy -- but the BOX should have really implied Lilacs in design and color.

An early review - 16/12/16

I just recently acquired this perfume. I have had my eye on it for a long time though! The reviews and information seem to project it as a green perfume. I don't think it is very green, although it IS watery. It is a fresh, ozone-y smell with some strange sweetness (it doesnt translate to vanilla for me). I like it, and I definitely think it is very unisex. I could smell it on me for a while but I am not sure how people around me received it.

I will update this review as i discover more about the perfume.

vermoth

I loved the pour homme version, but the base note had the odor of men's toner. So I tried this one and didn't feel at all the freshness that I loved!
This one smells so... much like moss (and vanilla)! Smells so humid and sweet.

Kousui212

This new formulation is a subtle version of the nee one and fused with kenzo d'ete. My 2 favorites in 1 bottle. Whenever i spray it, it creates a symphony of notes, playing an orchestra of essence in perfect harmony. Long lasting....like water, it comes out when u sweat. Sweet, refreshing sweat!
Got this as a birthday gift from my friend, Angella.

A heavenly, relaxing scent!!!

Orient74

Sophisticated fresh, cute, smart, never discontinue !!!

MissButterfly

I think everything has been already said about this one: water lily is lovely here, it is fresh, cold, aquatic. Office friendly. I do not smell cucumber, perhaps it depends on skin pH, so it may smell sharper on some people.

There is one thing I want to add: it smells like rain in the bottle to me, but not while walking on the beach or in the wild; more like refreshing rain after busy, hot day in the urban jungle. The air is colder, reviving, relieving...
I use it in the spring and autumn, when the weather is moderate; for hot evenings in the summer I already have other favourites.

Napsu

Fresh, watery and stronger than people seem to think. Sillage is pretty good and longevity also good.
I smell mostly watery notes, water lily and pepper and base is quite musky. Flowery and fresh with something sweet like honey.
Somehow this was too strong for me and I can't use it. It's all around me and it's almost hard to breathe. I used about half a bottle and I had to admit that it won't suit me.
Pretty and good scent though.

MindyMe

This is lovely fresh aquatic scent and is one of my favourites. I am going to comment on it's silage - I used to think it was a very soft perfume and that most people couldn't smell it unless they were quite close, however, one of the ladies at work who also likes perfume and has asked what it is I'm wearing on a number of occasions, has commented that she can smell it walking past my office. Yesterday when she commented again on how I'm wearing her favourite perfume of mine as she walked past, she later told me (about 7 hours after applying it) that she now needed to put her head into my office before she could smell it. I sit about 10 feet from the office door, never knew it's silage was so good.

TexBex

This fragrance appealed to me when I was eighteen. The very first scents I liked were light, fresh, citrusy, aquatic, clean, and unisex; kind of like youth, I guess.

MarnaL

I read the rave reviews about this one being an amazing refreshing scent, and blind ordered this with a few other refreshing perfumes like Lalique Fleur de Cristal. This was by far the most expensive and have the weakest projection. This smells exactly like a scent called Peace Love and Daisies, with even less projection with absolutely no longevity, lasting no longer than 30 minutes. This one is also not unique to me. Very disappointed.

Scent: 2/10 (I mean 2 is being generous because I can't even smell it!)
Longevity: 1/10, (I can barely smell it after initial scent, nevermind an hour after)
Sillage: lol

Sorush

Hello With Love from Paris,
As a man I enjoy Kenzo and i think this perfume is unisex with a curve of sensuality for men and women.
I wear it with confidence and it is unique in a world of Pour Homme.
In spring and specially summer it's a good horse to bet. cool/fresh/floral,
Mr. Olivier Cresp is an Artist due to creating a floral perfume that is fresh and cold. Bravo and Bingo for me.

viko

L'Eau par Kenzo is the exclusive perfume. Summer storm in a bottle - smells of air, ozone, water and freshness.

Akarui_hana

I love to feel this perfume when I am working out, its freshness is energizing and stimulating. I am not the one to be too crazy about fresh scents but this one I do enjoy quite a lot, probably because the lilac and water lily feel so natural.
L'Eau par Kenzo has a lovely sweetness to it too, probably the vanilla (which remains subtle at all times).
When I apply it it makes me feel like I am being caressed by the rays of sun during spring-time.
The lasting power is medium, but even that is more than most aquatics.

xheartsickx

The lightest and freshest fragrance i've ever used. This was my favorite when i was 17/18 yo. It is indeed a smell that makes you feel comfortable and is very nice for the summer. Water lily game is strong on my skin, fresh floral scent even after hours. I fell in love with other perfumes as time passed, but this one i will always remember!

mona1

This water smells like early spring days...
You know this time of the year when the first grass appears but still are patches of snow here and there...
When sun is shining but air is chilly and you are still wearing a coat even though it's springtime...
That contradiction is captured in most delicate way. Scent is cold/warm and fresh/sweet. It changes all the time from chilly wind to warm sunshine. From water lily to vanilla, from smashed grass/fresh cucumber to juicy peach.
It was my signature for few years and I could wear even for night time because of unusual chameleon character. Like 2 nature substances would be fighting in one bottle and you never know which will be winner today.
Nothing compares to this.

alissja

Rosabotanica kind of.

Rachmiast

So lotus, so strong at first, then it alter become musky.. The smell is not bad. But not into my style.

Missisjoker

The first time I ever sprayed it on my wrist I went out into a cold and crisp morning of Siberian winter, and it smelled DIVINE.
Like a fresh white snow sparkling in the sun. Citrucy, fresh, crisp, light, and i loved it! The perfect cold-wintery smell which is amazing all year around.
Unfortunately, Kenzo seemed to change the formula a bit, because now it is much sweeter than it was back then. IDK, may be different manufacturers?
Even though, the smell is still amazing- one downside only- sillage and longevity are very weak. (at least on me :( )

ZinniaX

Airy, light summer scent for days when I want to wear perfume but don't want too much

sweetness1234

There is something which is sickengly sweet and it makes me sick,,maybe the vanilla I don't know? But I think this perfume does not match with my body chimistry :-/

Feeya

I'm still new here at fragrantica, but I simply HAVE TO review this one. It was my first perfume (at the age of 12-13) and I have probably gone through 20 of the 100 ml bottles in all of the 15~ years that I have worn it; it was my signature scent. I have identified with it for so long it's insane, and the search for other perfumes only started this year (2015). When I wear this, I picture taking a walk by a lake an early morning during spring. I live in Sweden, so perhaps you should bear that in mind. Green scenery. A very light breeze. Calm. Timeless. A new day; new beginnings and new opportunities. Unobtrusive. I don't know half of what I'm saying really, but I still adore this scent and I will always have a bottle of it in my collection that is now steadily growing larger! Now the things about it that makes my heart break: both the longevity and the sillage is weak on me. Hence why I needed 20 of the 100 ml bottles... Though maybe that's what you are to expect from fresh/aquatic fragrances? Either way. Love love LOVE it!

AngieGCarp

It's hot today...in Texas we are baking under 103F...of course, I am not going outside but I am lounging around and thinking about an event I will be going to next weekend where there will be 2000(?) people kind of crammed in an auditorium. I have picked out the shoes, the dress, the jewelry...all the girl stuff and I am at a loss for my perfume!!! I cannot wear my favorites...just can't, but can I muddle through the day with a fragrance like this? I have tried SEVERAL floral aquatics including the iconic Issey Miyake. I like it but there is no love...it seems to be missing (for me) a strong grounded base. What I am finding with the L'Eau the peppers, the cedar, the musk and the reed keep the floral fruitiness from becoming unenjoyable to wear. L'Eau is not cloying (first spray may knock you out but it fades fast) it's warm, huggable, non offensive and ladylike with a punch of spice. I would say the longevity is moderate and the sillage is very minimal so I might put mine in a rollerball to touch up. So far it's a go...but you know it is a woman's prerogative to change her mind...

joan100

This fragrance is superb! The opening notes start with a smell that will immediately transport you to a rainforest with the smell of greenery and water (waterfalls to be specific). The drydown (still fresh smelling) is a completely different smell altogether where you can smell a bit of the peach, pepper, mint and lilacs which indeed smells divine! I just love it!

This is one of the very few scents from the 90s that has survived to this day (in the midst of horrible sickly sweet gourmand/fruitchoulli scents) and I hope the house of Kenzo NEVER discontinues this gem of a fragrance as it is very original/unique, high in quality and fairly long lasting. Such a shame it is so hard to find these days!

polly golightly

lovePerfumes222

wanted to get a sniff at this once again so i looked for it today at the drugstore and loveddd it so much. i'm happy that it's on the way to me. living in a very hot country this is perdect as an everyday fragrance and it's kinda rare scent so you won't smell it on every other person which i love about it.

lovePerfumes222

this was my first perfume ever. my mom bought it for me when I was 13 years old (and I'm 29 today)
I remember it was the small bottle and I think I liked it a lot,I remember the smell as very fresh aquatic scent.
Recently I've been searching for an everyday fragrance, a shower fresh scent but not as popular as light blue and cool water.. so I got nostalgic and ordered this one online.

Adjames

Also, regarding sillage and longevity, this beautiful scent is one you may not smell on you, but others still do. If you smell a perfume on yourself strongly, it is usually too much.

The dry smells womanly, beautiful and sexy! Surprising, happy and confident!

Adjames

This fragrance is my favorite of all time (tied with Issey Miyake original EDT). It is a well kept secret. I own them all (literally). When I wear this, the balance of fresh, sweet, fruity and warm dry down to perfection - a perfect balance. I do wear it more in the Spring/Summer, but I would say that when people guess it is Chanel or Bylgari, I just smile because it is unique.

I would say you need to wear this all day before you make a judgment, and wear it on a warmer day....and around both men and women. Even without their opinion, when you smell your wrist, it will be beautiful and surprising. Not too much...not too little...not too spicy....not too watery, not too innocent, and yes, very natural and comfortable.

What seems like a fragrance of innocence is a colorful blend of emotion with nuances of real life.

LadyPilot

I got it today after at least 10 years of pure hatred to this scent, followed by a period of ignorance towards it and summarized by raising curiosity and... well, my high school memories came alive! I thought of my schoolmate who used it and loved it, I suddently recalled my holidays in the Baleares during which I used a body mist by Coty that smelled almost the same as L'Eau Par Kenzo... But most of all - I rediscovered a great, forgotten and underappreciated perfume that still poses some kind of a challenge for me, but I know it will bring me a lot of comfort when the temperatures get high! Now, when the weather is just perfect - that is around 20 Centigrade with some rain, sun and wind, this perfume is a bit irritating as the mint and salty notes are too strong. But it's simply not the right time for it. If I were to go to the Carribean or anywhere else hot, this would be a must in my suitcase!!! It's amazingly refreshing and cool, I
think I bought it a bit sooner than I bacame ready for it but I really, really want to try and love it!!!:)
EDIT: Today it was hot, 33 Centigrade plus a really strong and dry Eastern wind blew until the long awaited storm came in the late afternoon. In these arrid conditions, hours before the storm, L'eau passed the test in flying colors! So refreshing, exotic, slightly salty but in a non-disturbing way - like the perfect sea breeze! A great rediscovery after so many years:)

GinWeed

The water lily note is extremely prominent, so it's a flowerbomb. But it's an innocent and baby-like fragrance. Very timeless and I haven't quite smelled anything like it. I don't think it's long-lasting though, only weak to moderate, and the sillage is soft but it's nice :)

anosh313

So fresh ,soft and clean perfume like a cool breeze on the shore. Like it very much. A favorite one for all day time. at the home or work place..

zeyfod

Long time ago (1999) I met a surfer girl. She was wearing Kenzo pour Homme. The one in the bamboo bottle. Summer, beach, sand, some green shadow with water. I had one too. Few years later I went for another bottle, but it was smelling different. Wasn't the same. Still I was catching a sniff here and there in crowded places. Turned out the thing that remind me about the old, "real" Kenzo was L'Eau par Kenzo Kenzo for women. I don't care it is for women. I am wearing it everytime when I want a buzz.

ScarlettX

This is outstandingly fresh and aquatic scent. It's is not slushy kind of freshness, it's very light and tender.
A little like a fresh air in spring.
Still, I think it's not the best one for me, because I like sweeter scents and this one is not sweet at all.
So, it's not bad or disturbing in any way, but I would like something more interesting.

Yayatan

Another favourite of mine which I don't mind buying over and over again. Come to think of it, this was possibly my first love in the perfume world.

turtle91

An everyday, casual smell. It isn't the boring generic floral fruity smell. It is better than that, but I still don't find it interesting enough to love it as I prefer heavier, complex scents. I don't hate it nor love it. It's a perfume I use when I don't feel like wasting other precious perfumes. Why isn't there any option to vote for "ok"?

Natkincola

Perfectly transferred to the smell of clean freshwater lakes. There, on the water surface, serenely lie head of water lilies and recorded flying birds. Near the shore the wind softly swaying strings of reeds. As if the nose inhale countryside.

However, there is one "but" - this summer idyll turns into a steamy, hot, stale, stagnant water with Tina, duckweed and the frog "songs". Out of nowhere appears in the water tumbled down the old tree, and the song begins to give bitter soaked wood...

Fall and spring this fragrance again serene and pure again you can feel the freshness of the water surface and steppe wind.
Winter fragrance starts tinkling crystal, reminiscent of the rapid mountain river, and in extreme cold, he really icy. Unusual metamorphosis.

Don't know when to wear (in the cold you want something warm...), so, we need to catch the mood.

No, not for the heat he is cool he needed, dry, cool weather.

shasta

When I smell this and look at the notes, I see two different perfumes. On me, rich yellow florals on an airy, slightly aquatic base that lasts and lasts. Love this so much. Have the older bottle- with the sprayer in the middle.

ginger68

Retested after many years. A lot of time ago I wore it. In those days it was really odd, very far from usual fresh fragrances for summer. It was innovative. Well I still think it is a little gem. It’s a tender painting. Pepper and sweet notes. A calm lake where beautiful butterflies and dragonflies live in peace, all around wild flowers and green grass. Water, earth and azure sky. I decided to buy another little bottle. This fragrance is dreaming.

babypink_fairish

This is a case of successful encounter with a fragrance from the same producer. Kenzo flower worked for me, and the l'eau par kenzo...I'm getting a similar feeling from it as I got from flower. I love the airy and light feel to it, it's easy to wear and I'd love to have the full version of this. I currently have the mini only cos the perfume store I visited did not have this one on hand.

0829am

Having avoided aquatics for a while now, I got this as a blind buy based on all the great reviews here. This did not work out for me.
You know how when you were a kid, you had to inflate your own pool floats by breathing out into the plastic opening bit? This perfume reminded me of the smell that came back to you when you stopped breathing into it to rest. Smelled rather plastic. Once that image got stuck in my head, I was sadly not able to appreciate this fragrance :(
EDIT: I just swapped this away and the other party loved it so much! I guess it's just me. Lesson learnt: my kid will have an air pump next time so he/she can appreciate aquatics :)

plumblossom

A Light, refreshing, and fizzy fragrance, perfect for summer or sunny days !

mariyka

Such a wonderful and complex fragrance. I'm so happy I discovered this. It totally reminds me of walking thru a lush, misty conservatory.

Hellita

This is pure love for me! No wrongs about this fragrance. So light and airy. When you wear it you'll feel shower clean (almost) all day. Great longevity for an EdT. Beautiful.

pink and pink

Gegauff this fragrance available only Edt :)

Gegauff

Does anyone know if they are discontinuing this? I looked for it in EDP in the store today and they said they only had it in EDT now. Does anyone know if that's normal in other places?

mutia

I wore this perfume around 7-8 years ago. I still remember the smell with melon, orange, and flowery hint in it. Fresh, green, and aquatic so it suited the personality of younger me. It was also every moment perfume. Now, I'd not dare to wear this outside my house. Maybe few spray just to refreshen myself after busy doing with house chores.

hsd1

I can see that this is an inoffensive scent. After I sprayed it I could barely smell it. Now a few hours later I can smell a nice, clean melon type smell. I am new at describing fragrances, but it does seem airy or watery. Almost indetectable.

Edit: 6 hours later I am remembering that I have smelled this many years ago, and it is starting to give me a headache.

honeyhingco

The first time I smelled it on someone (she was a celebrity) I was captivated. It's fresh, clean, aquatic, reminiscent of a summer rain, and it permeated the air in the room in a nice way. It was a memorable scent for me. I have yet to try this scent on myself and I have high hopes that it would complement my body chemistry. I think this works perfectly on a hot summer day or even night.

katushka37

To me it represents 90's minimalism phase - clean, light and fresh. I can detect mint but it is very mild and not chewing gum like. Then pepper and cedar make an appearance, followed by mild floral undertones. It lasts well on my skin but stays nice and close.

Shereena

received it as a gift, every time I wore it i started headache, penetrated my sinus leaving me with a nausea feeling with this too much water Lilly. Clean, pure, refreshing but not for me. Gave it to my sister . will never buy!

lucianamesquitacosta

Clean, feminine, fresh, and makes me feel light and free. LOVE IT. Wish it had more staying power on me, because it's delicious!!!

iragoodall

Since 1996 I've been having this perfume. Every time I see the bottle is about to finish, I go and buy the new one! This perfume is my favorite! Sooo fresh!!

Julie Billi

my mother's summer signature perfume! My father loves it on her and he says he clearly smells water melon!

Somnus

It reminds me a cucumber.

mayosh

I've purchased this fragrance three years ago ...Onset I was impressed by the smell that seemed to be like the smell of cool water perfume ...But then it became as nasty as the smell of a Spit ...i will not recommend it

elena gonzalez

Fresh water with lots of pepper! beautiful fragrance of violets, mint, tangerine and the star is waterlily! I imagine wearing a simple white top and short jeans, only lip gloss and a bright smile. Very 90´s.

irrrini

utterly amazing! I am a health professional, so heavy parfums are out of the question. This one, however it gave me a sense of freshness all day long, without smelling like every other girl out there. Discreet but distinctIve, well done1

krlamev

It's soooo amaizing! Amaizing really! So fresh, oceanic, light and still charming! Is not a clean-nostrilas fragrance.

Haven´t found any perfume at this time that can take L'eau's place!

Sadly (so sadly) it doesn't last long :( I mean I am not expecting the perfume to last 12 hours, but you have to spray on your clothes, arms, hair to feel it during the day. I think it is so light fragrance that if you are on an enviroment or room with other strong fragrances/smells, it just... let's say it just blends in... You probably will smell other's perfume than L'eau but at times you feel it's presence (Does that make sense...? O_o) That's the way I can describe it =))

Even tho I am not wearing it for other's people's pleasure lol, as long as I can feel it I'm ok. Love L'eau!!!

kakaka2

L'eau Par Kenzo is a cruel contradiction for me and this is just so sad...

I went on a quest today to examine some fresh and clean fragrances I had previously selected in order to satisfy my crave for "watery" and "weightless". I sniffed and tested and analysed and when I was on my way out of the perfumery shop, disappointed of the "I've seen it all before" feeling, I took a glance at L'Eau. An old time classic, back from the days I couldn't afford a real perfume, only sniffed from a distance on those smiling and flawless young ladies on their way to a summer night randez-vous. Never mind...

So on my way out I sprayed L'Eau on my forearm and sighed in relief I hand't just passed it by. It was so beautiful, so grassy, I felt the freshness of the mint, it was so light and sparkly. I instantly loved this creation! My happiness was so honest and oh, so short. In 10 minutes all was gone, it was all lost to a blunt soapy mess. It was this swamp that had somehow swallowed and digested the green grass meadow from before.

I was devastated and preparing for a quest to satisfy my crave for "watery" and "weightless"...

evacecilias

So many times I 've passed this at the perfume counters...
Once I decided to try it despite that I am not really into aquatics.
It starts on me with a strange mix actually made me remember eternity...no !
Well thats only first seconds, then turns into a quite pleasant lilac and honey smell...nice. have not yet got the mint wich is too bad , probably hidden somewhere.. the heart is really lovely with pepper lotus and a large doze of violet wich together with the cedar vanilla and musk creates a lovely SOFT woody trail wherever I go. Very nice to wear even though it might be softer than the perfumes I normally wear. But I was searching for an aquatic , not too sweet for those hot summer days , and I found one that will work.
I am glad I tried it this time !
Great thanks to a swap beyond compare- Namida !

StacyMarie82

So clean and fresh! My favorite scent by far. I can wear this anytime- even at work, where as a ballroom and latin dance instructor, I am very close to people all day.

Juliana6

A fresh, clean and feminine perfume.
It smells quite simple- water, mint, violet and lotus ( which is not listed), but if we take a look on the notes, we see it's a complex and sophisticated fragrance. Reminds me an ikebana. Simple yet made with attention and care.
I would like to wear it for a walk under the summer rain.

The scent is soft and mild yet longevity and the sillage are really good. Usually with this type of scents I feel disappointed because they fade quite quickly, but not with this scent. Great!

my lovely perfume

purnima

After reading a lot of reviews of this perfume here, I finally made an online purchase of Kenzo L'eau Par EDT. This was a blind-buy and I received it yesterday. I love water perfumes and I was very excited to smell this as this is my first Kenzo perfume.
Today, the first day of wearing it, I am actually confused as to my feelings towards this smell. It starts off great as many other people have noted but after few minutes, it smelled like watermelons to me! It is probably because it is summer, 38-40 degrees where I am but I thought this was summer perfume.
About the longevity- As I said, it is hot where I am right now so I put on like 5-8 sprays and some on my clothes for it to stay all day long. The good part is that no matter how much you spray, it won't be much to give you a headache. It is very light and fresh. But I stopped smelling it after a while and at the end of the day, I could smell a bit of it. So, I didn't find the longevity to be good. I didn't carry this perfume as it is 100ml and too heavy to be put in my handbag.
To sum up- I do like this perfume but it is not special to me. This can be used everyday and you can use lots of I would use it up soon but won't buy it again.
If my opinion changes, I will add my comments here.

Viridis

I had a bottle of this in the 90's when I was a teenager. Then the bottle was of a different design, which I prefer to the new one. Found a bottle on discount a couple of years ago and decided to treat myself, albeit wary of whether I would still find it as adorable as I did then. I was not disappointed.

It's the same crisp, clean scent that I remembered. It's inoffensive yet complicated. I prefer using it in the winter time, somehow it reminds me of snow. I think this is a perfume that either you love or hate. It's definately not for everybody.

missdietcoke1

I used to have this parfume about 15-20 years ago. Back then it was the "it" thing to wear clean, almost unisex fragrances. I never really liked it I was just going with the flow, trying to be trendy - being young and not knowing much about parfumes this seemed as a very sensible choice. I quickly left it behind and never thought about it anymore...:) Now I like my parfumes deeper...this is just too simple for me. Very safe fragrance and I promise you will not offend anyone by wearing this in the office. If you like fresh, clean and happy summer fragrances this is for you!

camarillo

I had it but seems this perfume is not good for me. I dont know why every time I used it.. its difficult for me to breathe. maybe I am allergic to some essence in this perfume :( sigh

szilviabartha

One of my favorite perfume. Very fresh, soothing and happy scent.

StellaDiverFlynn

I get a very strong water lily note. I usually love lotus note but unfortunately this one is so intensive that it made me dizzy even with one spritz. It somehow gave me an image of a lake full of water lilies deep in the forest, not oceanic or tropical. I might not say it's fresh and aquatic, but definitely a floral fragrance. I doubt if it's suitable for a really hot summer day. I think it's better for spring and autumn. The longevity is moderate, about 4 or 5 hours. Instead the sillage is quite impressive for an EDT.

IsaIsabella

This smelt so good on paper. The image of bountiful fragrant lotus soaking in a cool, still pond comes to mind.

But on my skin it opens up into something sour, almost urine-like for the first 10-15minutes. The dry down is sweet like icing sugar and strong undertones of lotus and bamboo(?) alongside some sort of pepper+musk combination.

This is an aquatic scent, but instead of being a marine/ocean-y scent, this is the scent of lakes, of rivers, of ponds. If it had a colour, it would be a greenish blue colour.

It is very zen-like, cold and calming. Perfect when the heat is searing hot.

I do like it, but maybe I wouldn't buy a 100ml bottle. Doesn't seem to suit my personality because it gives a feminine, delicate aura which I am surely not known for. Maybe I may grab a small bottle. Hmmm...

Longevity is pretty good, 3 hours and it's still going strong. After several uses, i conclude it lasts around 6-8 hours on my skin, way better than the homme version. Sillage is soft/moderate.

EDIT: Got meself a 30ml widdle bottle.
Plus it seems to complement my Crabtree&Evelyn's aloe Vera moisturiser as they are both herbaceous smelling.
And, it goes great with Elizabeth Arden's green tea!! It tones down the floral notes and amps up the fresh, sweet icyness of the scent.

pushok

A friend gave this to me to try and I absolutely loved it. It is very floral and aquatic. Very refreshing and unique smell. Gonna get it next.

shanghaifleur

This is an all time favorite! I never get tired of it, I love how it makes me feel cheerful but in a peaceful, serene way. This is like wearing a white cotton t-shirt and an old favorite pair of jeans, it makes me feel comfy and grounded. No gimmicks here, only simplicity and pureness. Yes, it is very emblematic of the 90s era, and it's a good thing!... Its has a "grunge" aura with a touch of simple femIninity.

Jun0711

This cologne smell is very nice. This is good for summer season.

Mebster

Just sniffed it again from a sample, after long..long time ago.. This was my signature back 15 years ago in college. Different bottle but the scent remain the same. Soft aquatic floral. Watery cucumbery..so calming.. Zen like.. Sillage 1 ft, longevity 6-8 hours.

muzzbait

an interesting tidbit; the female version of this fits snuggly into the male version!

this perfume is wonderful. it reminds me of clear lemonade, for some reason. a wonderful, sickly sweet scent on entry, it then calms down. but it's far too brief and fleeting. sometimes lasts less than an hour with multiple sprays. i want to remove this from 'my circulation' but it smells too nice to leave it behind.

i spray this on my clothes when i want to smell 'nice and fresh' but not perfumey...

Skye Wortley

Very nice, it is fresh, bright and feminine. I love aquatic perfumes, so this is one of my favourites. It has a great effect on me, i feel great! It makes me cheerful and confident. I really feel like i'm in a light blue, tropical ocean when the smell floats around me. I've loved it ever since i smelled it for the first time, but i had to wait a while till i could buy it. I adore Kenzo perfumes and this one is especially good for me!

Siv7Stars

Fresh, watery, very early nineties style scent. Extremely subtle wet summer garden. Can't detect any pepper in it, but then find it very hard to pick out notes in this, to me its homogenous clean floral.

40plus&fab

Vanilla1975 got it right. This must be tested on the skin (and waited out) to be truly be appreciated. Upon inital spray I was ready to run to scrub it off. It opens very strong, piercing and sharp. After a few minutes, while distracted doing something else, I kept getting this waft of loveliness, fresh, vibrant and crisp. It is definately aquatic but not in the usual marine way. I must admit, occassionaly something off-putting(proably the cedar) rears its head but almost immediately the other lovelies push it back down into obscurity and I'm happy again. It is exotic, like an amazonian waterfall with beautiful flowers floating in the calm at the bottom.

Mooniq

advabart. Yes they changed the design of the bottle, I had both the new and the older - and in my opinion they smell the same. Great every-day-scent.

advabart

Have they changed the bottle over the years? I own an oval one for some 15 years. Its name is just the same as the newer recangular bottle. I love the nowaday design better. Just wonder if it smells as it used to be.

Necabel

Conmigo no funciona. Nada más rociarla sobre mi piel ya percibo unas notas que para mí son detestables. Creo que no encajo con las fragancias acuáticas :(

***

With me not working. Just spray it on my skin and I sense some notes that are detestable to me. I think I do not fit with aquatic fragrances :(

Evita102

I always loved the smell on the tester, wanted to get it many times, fresh light, yes but..as soon as I have it on my skin it smells like candy.

EauSensuelle

Oh woah. L'eau Par Kenzo is one big, bold, crisp aquatic.

A wave of flowery freshness greets your nostrils when you first smell L'eau. This is just a sheer, white, elegant and a very pretty floral. This is very very very beautiful and therefore it is not overbearing.

The middle is a little bit of a warmed-up version of these water-like flowers. I recently noticed how the word "flowers" can be split into two - "flow" and "ers". That means flowers are etymologically things that flow with the water. This is very appreciable for this sort of a scent.

The base is like a watery cucumber-cedar combination with a little bit of stony amber. Pleasant and sophisticated and requires a woman who is not dirty at all - just very neat and clean. Very simple and has a low understanding curve.

I simply have no words for this stellar combination. Very beautiful, simple and also very elegant and feminine. I love L'eau Par Kenzo forever. Kudos.

LiLoLiLo

This has been my school signature scent ! I got many compliments from teachers and classmates..Everyone seemed to like it

busik

Then, in the 90's, the very first release, a bottle with a blue collar, the smell was completely different. Trying to find, but in vain. Later on in the 2000th was presented rectangular bottle, unnecessarily used the gift, but would never have bought myself, better Rochas.

dulcette

Sporty, aquatic, woody, slightly floral. a very safe scent for the sporty girl next door.

lbean

I went to a perfume counter looking to try Moschino Funny! and, as they didn't have have it, the sales lady recommended me this instead.

I found it a very light scent that's a little sweet as well. I'm not very good at picking up notes, but I definitely get the floral aquatic concept and find it really interesting how this can be so subtle and fresh without being citrus.

As much as I like it, I find it *very* light and rather a common scent - somewhat of a shower gel/body splash smell. I still want to try Moschino Funny! and I hope they differ a bit in that aspect.

I recommend L'eau par Kenzo for women who like light and fresh fragrances that are still feminine and a bit sweet. And for people that are sensitive to perfumes, etc. as this is a so subtle and pleasant.

LipstickJunkie

The first time I smelled this perfume was at a friend's house when I was 11 years old, and oh my god, I instantly fell in love with it/ 4 years later I bought it, it has so many memories attached to it, it's scent is so pure and clean and very unique! betwenn me and this perfume there's a 12 years old love story and I beleive it will last for many years to come!

nicolevivi

Little grow up clean scent, remind me of monet's water lilies! It smell like a black haired, young, pure woman, who has a porcelain face and wears minimum makeup, wearing a a body length white dress, while standing in front of a pond of water lilies very peaceful and elegant scent, but I would not use it.

iflipcess0527

i would like to like this perfume, but it smells like a vicks vaporub to me, unfortunately i have the biggest bottle, what a waste of money

CoolBreezes

I wore this when it came out in 1996, purchased at duty free on my first "grown-up" trip to England. My bus mates all said it smelled like fresh cucumbers. And it did, and I loved it at the time. I always felt pulled together when I wore it, and I used the entire bottle within that year...a rarity since then. This scent brings me back to my first solo home, my fledgling independence and a few crossroads filled with decisions that have since held me in good stead. Fresh, cool, and making my own way in the world. Thanks Kenzo!

Ellie_Love

I can't explain my liking for this one, but I do love it! A fresh scent with actual staying power. It smells somewhat citrusy which I love, and the water lily note is strong and beautiful. It reminds me of walking barefoot on grass in a summer rain. Must try for outdoorsy people!

Cams

What a special fragrance this is. I avoid aquatic fragrances as they sometimes lack the depth I typically need from a fragrance. But man oh man this gem of a fragrance was a fantastic surprise. Within minutes of being applied it produces on the skin a dreamy, soft and sensual smell that I love. This aquatic fragrance is a joy to wear. Who knew? I love this!

MEALIZAGABI

i am in love with the fragrance

Adjames

This is one of the most beautiful fragrances, especially for spring/summer. Very fresh with a dry down of subtle elegance. On me it lasts for hours and I receive compliments frequently. It has a romantic nuance to it...it adds a vibrant, happy note to my day. The final notes are sexy indeed.

SYLeung

Instant feeling: What should I comment on that? I love the SummerbyKenzo, Amour n Flower.

The combinatiion of Leau is so unique, exspecially for my favour Lilac, that draws me to try it.

Today is extremely hot 34C n high humidity. I directly pour out on my neck, chest n wrist as it is a travel bottle size. Unlikely, the first note, reed, my 9 years old son is able to detect it but I dont.

Honestly, I smell nothing about rose, violet, even base note musk etc. I do admire those can wear it beautifully. Skin chemistry - so horrible.

Dunja Kashkaval

OMG am I the only one that didn't like this one? It pinches my nose and gives me a headache. My mom got it for me a few years back and I hated it.

ashwinie

It lasts for a surprisingly long time on me, although most of the comments seem to indicate otherwise. It's a beautiful fragrance that reminds of the first rain shower. It's everything good about water packaged in a bottle!

CAROLINA1900

This perfume is perfect for hot summer days.

SundayMorning

There's Got to be something wrong with my bottle, since i get the smell of MUSHROM (dont know the spelling) this one was nice when i had a tiny spritz on my arm, but 2-3 spritz on, on my way out for my daughters last day at preschool,I really had the panic! had to cover this shiz up with the angel of coverage- Elie Saab.

I pass this one.

sapramiška

If you need a fresh summer scent, without masculine notes, this is a perfect choice. Soft, gentle, easygoing... It smells like life without troubles, inocente, young (but not childish at all).
Excenlente!

sreetamaa

Love the smell... but it doesnt last too long.. disappointed about that...

Cynicalwish

I'm not really into aquatics, but this one smells so good! fresh and clean without being too pungent or too artificial.

1nov

I bought it again after many years ... It still the best .. I love it

marji1410

It's the most beautiful fragance I'd ever have!! Fresh, It's feels like you are always new!!!.. I'ts an amazing fragrance!!

Liene

One of the most interesting aquatic perfumes I have ever found. Compared with other aquatics (which I feel as the sea in storm, swift river, ocean in winter) it is just a different type of water - some forest lake with ripples in summer, dewdrops in its shady bank, light breeze and busy little animals all around.

It is surprisingly soft and subtle yet playful. Reed, lotus, pink pepper and cedar are the notes I can detect the best; and the last nicely blends in relatively warm finish. It feels much warmer sniffed directly on the skin, while sillage is quite airy and fresh even after several hours. That is what makes me like this perfume so much, as well as reed note which I just love. Strangely, at times in the drydown I can even feel musk and among top notes something from black currants.

nowheregal

if water had a smell, it would smell like this.

Lee79

This is def a very pure, green, and fresh scent. But unfortunately it doesn't last very long on me. :( But it does smell lovely while it lasts.

Takhaet

My all time greatest!!! I started using it when i was about 20 and i still use it when i am almost 29 ...

I have never actually smelled any perfume that would be as clean, as pure, as fresh and green but mysterious at the same time as this one .

Funny enough- in my opinion, this is the best of fresh fragrances on the market but somehow it is also comfortably warm and a bit sweet . Always reminds me of colourful dragonflies and butterflies above the lake. love it <3 and will never stop <3

Red Rose

I agree with who said this fragrance is one of the freshest scents around. Very clean, just out of the shower or just steped out from the rain & the clean cold water splashing rain. It's hard to find though maybe that's why I only discover it this year.

olga1780

Wow, for a clean aquatic fragrance this is pretty powerful! And I mean it in the best possible way because usually the majority of aquatics are very etheral and volatile and you do have to use them with a heavy hand. On the other hand, L'Eau par can get cloying if oversprayed.
Very beautiful composition, romantic and even elegant. I love to use my aquatics for sports, and I must admit that after trying so many of them I still find L'Eau par Kenzo very unique. I wears very nice even in cold weather as it has some warmth to it due to vanilla, peaches and pepper. Outstanding sillage and longevity. A keeper for sure.

dikija4

I loved it. It was so fresh for hot summers! Yes, it lasts no long, but it`s soooooo nice!

fath1ma

I interested L'eau Par from here, in topic: The Similar Perfumes or kinds like that. It said that similar with L'eau d'Issey. Well..that's not true at all..! Both were fresh floral maybe, but very different floral.
I'm not good in writing, not good English too..sorry. But I recommend this one for somebody that like fresh perfumes :)
add: now it's similar with L'eau d'Issey, but this is softer, for daily use.

armanimania

It doesn't last at all.

orchid_84

Beautiful! This is an amazing floral aquatic fragrance. I was attracted to L'eau par Kenzo by the unusual combination of notes listed, and indeed it is a unique scent. I can't say I've ever seen lilac, pepper, lotus, reeds, mint, cedar and peach all in one fragrance.

I get the soft, watery lotus and grassy reed scents coming through the most strongly. The orange adds some welcome juiciness and zest. The hints of pepper and mint blend in nicely and make this fragrance refreshing and crisp, but also a little piquant. The sillage is surprisingly good on my skin.

Soft, cool, and calming. Makes me think of serene, still waters and lush, beautiful gardens. The ultimate zen fragrance in my opinion.

teaweed

Opens gently with beautiful, soft, wet flowers. The lovely floral quality recedes and is replaced by a bitter/citrus harmony that reminds me of bergamot. Then the acquatic aspect increases til the pleasure is gone. It's a synth aproximation of fresh-softness, artful but slightly askew. It's a shrug of the shoulders, "meh" scent; right on the line between like and dislike for me, pretty for a minute but not quite right. I don't get any pepper notes, but I do catch a whiff of light musk. Silage is mild, but persistent. After about 5 hours, the scent was undiminished so I gave my test dab site a wash. After soap and water, the scent had faded but was still identifiable.

Fragrantnatic

to some it might be aquatic & fresh with a touch of pepper, to me and my body chemistry this one doesn't last (maybe about half an hour the longest..) and after that I kinda smell like some kind of bad smelling liquid soap. sorry... definitely not for me..:(

Dongning

I can hardly detect the floral and fruity note from L’Eau Par Kenzo, while the aquatic and green note is much stronger. I distinguish the pepper very well. It’s really a refreshing and cool perfume. It seems a kind of “watery and salty” at the beginning while dry down with a warm vanilla and cedar fragrance. This is somehow like Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden, opens with green tea and dry down with warm note. It’s a very casual and offenseless that I often wear it in the office and I really enjoy the base note in the air.

bagaceirababyy

To me this is a very clean and aquatic fragrance, perfect to very hot weathers, but the stay power could be better.

EDT: the stway power and sillage of this are great! But still think is fresh a great for work and office, because it doesnt offends anyones nose...

Turtledove

This is my favorite! It's very light, pleasant, natural and cool, with light florals and citrus, with a hint of grass and mint and a light but juicy cucumber-y sweetness. It reminds me of rainy spring mornings, it's very refreshing. I actually like to wear it in the cooler months, it just doesn't go well with the heat to me. A lot of people seem to complain about the lasting power, it's such a light scent that it might be easy to miss if you're used to wearing something stronger, but it still lasted quite a while, at least on me. I'm also one of those headache-prone people that hates "perfumey" and heavy scents, so it's just right. Highly recommended!

Update: Having now tried a decent variety, I can say for sure that this has excellent lasting power for an EDT, it lasts all day for me, light but definitely present.

Christine130880

very fresh.allways have it in my collection.
almost wear it in spring .

janycka

my best perfume ever..

diandjumhana

This is my primary perfume ever since elementary school (I know I'm old..). My father gave it to me when I was in 6th grade and this perfume is my very first designer perfume ever and it sets my standard in a perfume even until now. It smells fresh and blends nicely with my skin. It has this aquatic smells to it which makes me feel refreshed all day, because the lasting power is great on me. And the great thing is, after doing lots of activities, sweating and all, people still say that I smell nice :) love it! always have it in my wardrobe as my staple perfume!
