OUTLANDER stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe brave the weather at Dunure Harbour today as the pair film the hotly-anticipated third season of the time-travelling drama.
Pictures show the on-screen couple cosy up to each-other in a bid to stay warm as they shoot scenes in the sleepy fishing village, in South Ayrshire, for the latest instalment of the hit show.
The pair, who play Jamie and Claire Fraser in the hit series, posed for romantic clips while dozens of nosy villagers looked on the coastal film set.
Irish actress Caitriona, 37, could be seen playing with her mobile phone while wearing a grey woollen coat.
And Scots hunk Sam, 36, who plays a Highland warrior in the series, was decked out in a warm woollen jacket topped off with a 1800s hat called a tricorne.
The stars are filming for the third series of the hugely popular show which has gained a cult following in the USA.
Scotland's tourism agency VisitScotland predicted last year that the show, which streams in the UK on Amazon Prime, would lead to large numbers of visitors to the country by fans.
We told last week how hunk Sam had been spotted filming in Edinburgh – hours after the hit show picked up four People’s Choice Awards.
Holyrood Aparthotel posted a snap of Sam, 36, with the caption: “Spotted outside Holyrood ApartHotel is @SamHeughan getting ready to film season 3 of the hit TV show #Outlander.
While Story Café Edinburgh said: “Filming Outlander right beside us and our sister cafe, serenity cafe. Come have peek at filming and warm up at our cafes.”
Mrs O posted pictures of queuing fans hoping to catch a glimpse.
She said: “It seems they are filming Outlander on the Canongate today #clueless #Edinburgh. All waiting for a glimpse of Sam?
And Jamie Cassidy wrote: “Quite a crowd gathering today to watch filming of #outlanderseason3 in #Edinburgh #outlander.”
Holyrood Aparthotel posted another pic of the set.
It said: “The hit series Outlander is being filmed right outside our Holyrood ApartHotel. Are you a fan? #filming #Edinburgh.”
Sam later took to Twitter to thank his watching fans.
He said: “And HI to all the lovely people who were watching today in Edinburgh! Sorry don’t have more time. X”
