FertilityFactors: TTC with IVF/IUI/Meds

Hope for anyone with a low beta

I wanted to share my story, in case in can give hope to anyone that is discouraged because of a low beta result.  We did a FET in early February, and I went in 9 days later (after 5dt) for my beta test.  It was the first time in seven IVF/FET cycles where I hadn't done a test at home (we do have a daughter from the 5th cycle, but it's been a long struggle for us).

With my daughter, by beta was 103.  I knew that was about average, so was SO disappointed when the doctor called and told me my result was 10.  A measly 10.  Anyone who's researched these numbers as obsessively as I have knows that's barely anything.  But I went back two days later and it was 25.  Then 73, then three days later it was 345, then 851.  Last week I saw the heartbeat!  And today I could see the head and little arms! I'm still holding my breath until I get out of the first trimester, but so far, so good.

When I got my beta of 10, I searched everywhere online trying to find a story of someone who had a low beta and ended up with a real pregnancy.  I did find a few, but wanted to add mine, in case it can help someone in the same boat.

Good luck to everyone!

  • Awesome! Congrats to you!

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you Bibber for posting your story. I got the results of my first beta yesterday from my 3rd IUI and it was 19. I'm 41 and this was our 7th cycle of TTC. My RE office said immediately its probably a chemical but there is a slim chance that it could be fine. I go for beta #2 today. I'm very scared that this is just a miscarriage. I just took a home pregnancy test and it looked negative. I will find out my results on Thursday. Congrats to you! I hope all goes well with your pregnancy. Thank you again for sharing.

    Best, Heidi

  • Thanks for sharing! I could have used your story 8 weeks ago! My 1st Beta was 43 (14days post 3 day transfer)! I searched all over for success stories but came up short. I had to wait all weekend to get my next beta feeling really down which I know didn't help the situation. I got my 2nd Beta...4! I ended up with a Chemical Pregnancy. Now I am moving on to FET. Hoping for better results this time!

  • Thanks for story,
I had a similar story where my first beta was 18 and I didn't have anyone to talk to or relate to or to know if there was any hope at that time. Unfortunatley my ended with a miscarriage but it is so nice to see a story or success/hope. So thank you.

  • Oh my goodness, Congrats!! That is so wonderful.
