Good if you wanna smell like car air freshener 👍

EDT: Opening is a lovely, almost boozy liqueur aroma with a burst of citruses, spicy cinnamon and clove. The citruses fade out a bit, leaving behind a smooth, powdery, sweet, creamy, soapy cinnamon/clove with some floral touches. I get no patchouli nor cedar but I suppose it’s just blended in there somewhere. The final drydown smells wonderful. This doesn’t really make me think of India but more of Jamaica. There’s some sort of a beachy, tropical vibe to it with the cinnamon and spices and also a mellow, green yet ripe banana/vanilla scent which reminds me of Coppertone sunscreen. Another thing it reminds me of is an Italian pastry, maybe sfogliatella with ingredients of powdered sugar, lemon and cinnamon. Although this probably isn’t considered a gourmand, it comes close to being one for me. Some say it smells like "old man" but I don't agree. Definitely one of the most blissful drydowns I ever smelled. It definitely has that barbershop vibe so I think it's not good for the ladies. You can bury your face in it and huff it all day long without ever getting a headache.

When I smelled this for the first time, I immediately had a flashback of being 11 years old and watching my dad stand in front of the mirror, reach into the medicine cabinet in the restroom, pull out the TRES FLORES BRILLANTINE pomade, and apply it as he slicked his hair back with his pocket comb. The smell of the pomade filled the rooms in the house and his truck. Thats what this smells like to me, Tres Flores! It's not at all a bad thing, infact, it's devine! So very masculine and mature, but so much that I gave my bottle away. This fragrance is pure class and sophistication, such likes that I've never encountered before, and I

Luxurious baby powder.

Smells quite lovely. However, I own too many other fragrances I would probably wear over this one for the same types of occasions. Glad to have a sample though.

7 / 10 for smell.

Delicious oriental wonder...

Sumptuous, elegant, mysterious, sensual, attractive. I don't have enough words to describe this intoxicating smell of cinnamon, tonka and benzoin delicately sprinkled with citrus fruits which bring freshness to this enveloping warmth... To die for!

It may be "old school" but in the best sense of the word; a flamboyant prince from the thousand and one nights.

I'm a woman and I want it for me !

Often great gems with Boucheron.

JmThms

Like everyone else and their uncle has said, a pleasant, comforting slightly powdery Spicy Oriental. Soft, billowy and somewhat sweet. Soft as a baby's bottom. Could be a good cool weather Office Scent.

Ksj_

This is a beautiful citrus floral that transforms into a slightly powdery tonka. It's composed, elegant, and a comforting scent to wear. I'm looking forward to experiencing it during the Spring/Summer months.

Side note:

This is signature scent worthy and feels like you're receiving a hug from the most gentle person you know.

Zaca

A 1930s gentleman’s toilette (what Paul Edgecomb in The Green Mile would have worn had it not been released in 1998), wet shaving, citrus (especially lime) quickly fading into a vanilla/rose/carnation combo reminiscent of Habit Rouge, but gentler, and lots of cinnamon (which overpowers the fragrance in the summer months) Discreet longevity and projection. Very affordable, this will undoubtedly skyrocket in price if/when it is discontinued.

*Realised I'm getting the 1930s association from the art deco bottle.

olfactoryfan

Gorgeous fragrance, mad love from this devotee.

Just been to Jaipur, Rajasthan. Can't say I find any olfactive connection to the 'Pink City' with this creation, but it's kinda nice to have an association with that entrancing place in this bottle of gorgeousness from Boucheron.

Annick Menardo has created many evocative scents I love. This may be my fave.

JusttheFactsMan

This scent was #4 in my "Tour de Fragrance" which I rated but didn't write a review. I gave this one away. I got it originally because of the Boucheron connection, It's a solid scent for business or formal wear, even date wear, with more endurance than most EDTs, easily making it from shower to lunch, and I wore it for several months, but eventually found the cinnamon note too much for my taste and gave it away. Otherwise it was a great citrus freshie.

Will in DC

This is special. I enjoy orientals, but many of them have "too much" something...too much cinnamon, vanilla, musk, or incense, or too cloying. But this one is so nicely balanced, just beautiful.

I thought I'd like Jaipur Homme, but it's too reminiscent of Old Spice for me. It reminds me of my grandfather's bathroom cabinet. It doesn't even deliver on the promise of spiciness - just a soapy, powdery, old fashioned fragrance.

ChrisAd

This one was absolutely repulsive off my skin.
I have put it on my right arm and on he other was Pasha Cartier. I doubt I have ever raced to the closest bathroom so fast.
Smell off old people perfume back from 90s, suffocating, irritating and very very dated.

Luckily I got a chance to test it before pulling a trigger on this one.
I do not doubt all the praise but it is defintely not for me.

Slow_Loris

I’ve had a bottle of this for a couple of years - I don’t love it, it’s not frequently on my rotation, but today I’m off to the beach, so I thought I’d go with this. Out of nowhere, the same bottle I’ve always had immediately gave me a really stinging and itchy allergic reaction - my neck and arms went bright red, and I immediately had to wash it off.
Anyone else ever had this, where a bottle that was fine before suddenly causes a reaction? Could it be because it hasn’t been used for a few months and the weather’s been hot? Or is it just me? And is my allergy to it now permanent?

Frag-Meanted

Spicy, cirtus smoothness. Glad to have found it. Don't use it too often cause don't want to run out of this heavenly juice. 9/10

sea2sky

I can't believe it is that good and cheep at the same time. Amazing spicy vanilla (I sense tobacco leaf too) scent. I'm thinking of a back up bottle, seriously.

Bibin

Jaipur EDT - Nice , vintage smell reminded me of a barbershop in India in my childhood, a hint of old spice smell, but better than that.

scendictedalways

This smells to me like a slightly subdued clone of Givenchy Pi but a little spicier.

vbs221

In my opinion, the GOAT.

I’ve smelt more than 200 perfumes by now. I thought my love for this one was a honeymoon phase and that it surely will slow down in a few weeks. But it’s been around a year since I discovered. It’s still my number one.

One of the ways I could describe it is it’s a more wearable/likeable Shalimar EDP. One without the rubbery smoky notes, and with cinnamon and verbena (aka luxury soap) instead.

A true masterpiece. It dries down to a cinnamon soap. Who doesn’t like that? Why did no one else do a cinnamon soap fragrance? It’s super unique and gets compliments. Not dated at all.

Both the EDT and EDP are fantastic, as everyone has said. The EDP is richer and more cinnamony, while the EDT has more verbena.

kaurg

First impressions. Begins with a refreshing blast of citruses and powder, sweet resinous benzoin is also very distinguishable. The similarity to Old Spice is there, but disappears in the drydown. From the note breakdown, I was expecting it to be more similar to CK Obsession For Men, but they're rather different. Obsession is darker and muskier, a bit animalic, and has this in-your-face cinnamon note with a hint of pine or something woody and a bit musty. Jaipur is much airier, the florals are really apparent (especially carnation) and complement the spices. It's very dandyish and has this vanillic powdery quality that's unisex or even feminine. Due to that, Acqua di Parma Colonia and Habit Rouge come to mind. Le Male is also in the similar territory -- vanillic powdery oriental fougere -- especially since there also seems to be some lavender in Jaipur, although it's not listed. (It could be just coumarin, since it is present in cinnamon as well as in lavender.) Not bad at all.

scenturian

One of the best orientals ever. Hail you Annick Menardo.

discardedandroid

Very nice, smooth, soft, soapy, warm vanilla. Has a bit of citrus up front that quickly fades. Very, very good, but to me this is distinctly oriental/eastern smelling. It smells exotic, and very high quality especially for the money. Fairly unisex, maybe ever so slightly masculine. This reminds me of Eau Des Baux by L'Occitane, but much smoother and a bit soapier. Creamy cinnamon, opulent and exotic. Recommend.

Steve907

Ordered a decant from ScentDecant and wondering if I got the ladies version because this stuff smells like a grandma. Personally I think it's a bad mix of notes. Cardamom, rose, tonka bean, then the cinnamon and citrus, it's like a wrestling royal rumble to see which note can come out on top. I smell them all and that's the problem. It's not a beautiful bouquet. It wants to be fresh like Versace Man Eau Fraiche but then it tries to go slightly spicy like Azzaro Wanted and well it's a train wreck between the two. It's also slightly cloying. I tried it three times over approximately four months and as much as I wanted to like this, I just can't.

FragranceAnon

A warm vanilla the whole way with some floral notes and spices. The beginning has a pleasant citrus on top.

It smells unisex to me, just an all-round enjoyable scent that can probably be pulled off day or night, any time of year.

I'm always excited to find cheapies that are excellent---this is one of them.

Boier Serafim

Condimente aromate. La maxim. Durata mare și persistent, cum puține parfumuri reușesc să fie. Clar, doar iarna. Doar că, e greu să găsesc ocaziile pt a purta un condiment atât de puternic. Dar e un miros frumos.

vbs221

Only two non-Amouage fragrances I can say truly smell like Amouage--this and Encre Noire A L'Extreme.

So, so unbelievably good. It smells like expensive cinnamon soap. The citrus/vanilla/powder combo also smells like the dry down of Shalimar EDP, but without the funk and incense, and instead with cinnamon and incredible spice.

Unbelievably good. The EDP is a bit more powdery (Shalimar-like) while the EDT is a bit more airy and soapy (can almost detect lavender in it but it isn’t listed). I very slightly prefer the EDT, but use both equally and will always have both. Start with one of them (perhaps EDP), and if you like it, add the other.

Fortyfree

A vintage smelling scent a bit like a "high-end" old spice.

Definitely has a classy aroma, both spicy and aromatic. The carnation is easy to make out after 20 - 30mins, something else reminiscent of "sun cream" then emerges with the drydown remaining spicy but becoming powdery as well. There's also a fragile vanilla note (like many classic oriental compositions) which remains a constant presence throughout.

Longevity and projection both decent, can be worn any time of year, more masculine but not overly so.

Try before you buy.

Anton Constantinou

A rich and opulent scent themed on and inspired by India’s Pink City. When I smell this, I picture a French Jeweller in Jaipur, selling jewels in a bazaar, with palaces in the distance. Never massively got into this one, but I appreciate having it in my collection.

Bonjour..

moawiya.alanazi

This masterpiece opens up with herbal vanilla explosion that as time passes by settles on your skin like givenchy pi. The main difference between it and pi is that pi is a "brown" vanilla and jaipur is a "green" vanilla.

Dr Harder

To my nose Jaipur is very similar to YSL Opium, maybe not as strong as Opium but they are definitely in the same ballpark. Lovely scent, one of my favorite

vbs221

All other spicy fragrances are ‘vanilla’/simple next to this. Spicebomb Extreme you say? Burberry London ‘smells like Christmas’? Wait till you try this.

*This* is a spicebomb, done perfectly. The opening is a cardamom blast, then immediately the cinnamon and and other spices jump in.

I’ve tried both the EDP and EDT. Safe to say it’s similar to how Habit Rouge or L’Instant de Guerlain’s EDP and EDT differ—the EDT is just an airier version of the same scent. Honestly, in the air, 95% of the people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The EDT is slightly more citrusy and slightly sweeter, with the cinnamon really standing out. The EDP is creamier and made me think of some exotic spicy milk tea like Masala Chai.

The slight extra creaminess in the EDP is nice, but don't overlook the EDT. Its sweetness is intoxicating. I only have the EDT for now, but will add the EDP next.

All in all, a true masterpiece for an unbeatable price. Truly, if this was made by Initio, it would cost $300 and probably more people would rave about it.

Update: this also reminds me of the African Tea Latte at Urth Cafe. Or again Masala Chai. Really, a delicious spicy milk tea, with the EDT having a touch less milk and touch more brown sugar.

dmd63

Lovely citrus, flower and powder.

Terrible performance, though. Medium longevity and, once applied, it stucks close to the skin, no trail, doesnt´fill a room, nothing (i sprayed like a motherfuc...).

Shame.

sebseb

To me smells like a better Old Spice

scented_thoughts

Boucheron's Jaipur is simply a brilliant base layering fragrance!

Key notes throughout: Powdery, Vanilla, Amber, Talcum/Chalk, Lavender, slight Spicy Cinnamon

It smells somewhat like baby powder, but it gives off a clean, put-together, scrubbed persona.

I recommend wearing it in hot weather in the summer (even though most people seem to have voted for winter and night) - I feel like it was intended (as the name suggests) to evoke the sense of clean, fresh vanilla powder in the midst of sweltering Indian summer heat.

Projection and Sillage: Beastly! Very strong, aura around body; decent sillage trail

Longevity: Superb, all day on skin even. Wore it today, and it's still projecting now, from 8am to 5pm as I write this - with just 1 spray to the chest

Love it!!

Mao Lebron

Doesn’t smell bad, just really old. If you’re a young man and want to smell like one, get something else. If you don’t mind wearing something that smells from the past, you may enjoy it. This is serious grandpa status though.

Gidimeister

Consistently SHOCKED by how good this is.

It's citrusy, powdery, ambery, floral and clean, with absolutely ridiculous sillage and longevity. And the price? A steal.

I suspect that at some point more people will discover how immense this is and the demand will cause the price to triple overnight. That, or it will get reformulated and everyone will come on here to moan about bygone days.

Yes, this is a masterpiece. I only say that about fragrances like Chanel's Platinum Egoiste and a few others. You are absolutely in that category when you discuss this.

Jaipur Homme stands as a loud repudiation of the common notion that only expensive fragrances can be creative, unique, exquisite and well-blended. This fragrance is all of that and more—for 25 bucks.

alkemi

Agree this is a masterpiece. Gave it to my father as a gift. He ain't a fragrance fan but was unusually impressed and loves it for special occasions. It is on the mature side but nothing dramatic. Smells dressy and comforting at the same time.

This is the very definition of an oriental fougere. Barbershop in a way. Has a warmth to it but also a bit arid and mystical. Has just enough of an exotic flair to be interesting and set it apart but not polarizing. Beautiful bottle.

Rating - 9.5/10

JL2271

I loved this when I was younger. It’s a comforting scent. The EDP is denser and wears heavier. I feel like the EDT gives the notes more room to breathe in warmer weather but the EDP performs much better although it does give me a play-doh vibe. Somehow I formed some strong olfactive memory with this one that makes it quite nostalgic though more dates seeming to me now. 3.7/5

brokesta911

Boucheron Jaipur Homme (1998) - spicy carnation - This perfume has #annickmenardo ‘s signature throughout the fragrance. Starts with a citrus-Cardamom accord mixed with Cinnamon. Wisps of Incense come into play. It’s main heart is Carnation that lends itself beautifully with the incense-cinnamon accord. Drydown is her signature Tonka-Benzoin-Woody that creates this gourmand, smoky yet radiant sensation. A great value and even better to perfumes 10x it’s price.

pierreelkhoury

It is a real problem to associate every perfume that has a vaguely powdery nuance with baby powder, after all i feel sorry for those people because they can’t enjoy and or differentiate a large number of masterpieces.
Jaipur edt and edp both are masterpieces, but you have to have the nose.

Hawaii Jake

I bought a tiny splash sample of this. When I put it on, I immediately thought of shaving cream and very old fashioned after shave. This is very old fashioned. When it dried, I liked it. It's a good mixture of spices. I'm an old man, so this fits my age. However, I'll be damned if I'm going to smell like an old man! I like the smell, but when I want something very old fashioned, I'll wear Vetiver by Guerlain. Jaipur Homme is dated. Vetiver is classic.

Penhaligator

Ugh guys I just can't with this one. I have full bottles of both this and Boucheron Pour Homme. There is a note in the dry down that I can't stand here. I get compliments every time I wear this. I just can't stand the way I smell. The thing is- it should be a perfect fit based on the pyramid. But, alas, it's a hard pass from me. I do think, on the other hand that Pour Homme is a fantastic choice for a summer evening. Gave this a good half dozen full wearings and I'm ready to move on.

LMBelvi

Boucheron Jaipur—I bought a mini and that'll be just right for me. It's comforting and smooth. Great for any situation you want to be classy and not too noticed. Low key—old money and not flashy. Don't find it especially masculine--very comfortable wearing as a woman. But it changes a fair amount as it wears, so that is interesting too.

donshan123

"Jaipur" smells like an "old grandpa" (a silver fox per se), but in a good way-- It is marketed for the silver fox and the elegant, old, mature soul, or a renaissance guy. It is a classy, inexpensive fragrance. "Jaipur" is NOT for a young person or a dude who likes the fresh, "bro," sporty, Dior "Sauvage" scents. It is an inexpensive, mature scent that reminds you of a clean barbershop/aftershave. It is perfect for a formal event or a night outing with someone special. But, again, this is an old soul, mature, renaissance, classic man, "grandpa," barbershop-smelling fragrance. IF you are not a fan of that smell, you probably will not like this. Personally, I like it, but I would buy a more modern version of it instead. Two thumbs up for Boucheron, but I would still lean in a more modern direction. That's jus my personal take, but don't take my word for it.

For any fragrance, read reviews before buying it, but take them with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own opinion regarding smells. Some people love a specific fragrance. Some people hate it. My advice is for you to get a sample of ANY fragrance before you ever buy it. That way, you can assess it yourself and have your own thoughts rather than strictly going off someone else's thoughts and opinions. So, do not let my opinion influence you.

dmw

Jaipur is another one of those 'much better than it should be' relatively inexpensive fragrances.

The only disappointing thing is that opening notes vanish so quickly that you barely have time to notice them, but then a long-lasting amber-cinnamon-cardamom-vanilla centre takes over. I'm not a huge vanilla fan and so I prefer how balanced the vanilla is with the spice, unlike many recent niche compositions which can leave one smelling like a teenage girl. When I wore this again recently, I had forgotten how warm this is; it's like being wrapped in a big cardamom scarf. But despite the spice the scent isn't too forward and stays pretty close to the skin. The clove basenote takes time to come through and isn't as prominent as in say, Dunhill Edition (which uses many similar notes but in different stages).

Etheras

Clearly a masterpiece. Great longevity, sillage is the proper one, you can spot it from a distance but its not overwhelming. A perfume for Winter and autumn days, a goodie and old scent that can be a good choice for the 20s

Advaitaforever

A burst of cinnamon powder, warm and abundant. However, this quickly descends into a peculiar scent dna that simply doesn’t make sense. This disappointment may arise from my own anticipation of something great, having been wonderfully surprised by Jaipur bracelet. Jaipur edt has a blizzare, minty paste accord and almost resembles baby wipes. Tragic. This comes from a weird clash between heavy, balsamic notes of bezoin and a simultaneous attempt to vere in a fresh, aromatic and green direction. In the ultimate dry down, the bergamot and lemon emerge and steer the fragrance in a masculine direction.

Im not sure how this pertains to Jaipur in Rajhastan. I would have opted for a very dry, cardamom dominant, ambery, incense fragrance with opulent jasmine, tuberose and solar warmth and a fresh tea leaves accord.

Cessarine

Testing the EDP today and it was love at first spritz. Such a nostalgic association of going on foreign holidays to Spain when you were a child and someone wearing something like this in the hotel in the evening. Smells fresh, almost minty in places, a gorgeous long lasting oriental that I would say is unisex. A complete bargain for the price and I for one will be buying.

Shugenja

I love the scent of Jaipur. The term barbershop scent can be overused, but it is correct to apply it to Jaipur. The edt and edp are very similar and this is one of the very few bottles where it make practically no difference if you buy vintage or modern bottles. You get practically the same juice. It is powdery, creamy, and spicy. It smells like you are receiving the finishing touches of a $50 shave. It will take you back to an earlier decade, but not make you feel dated if you spray appropriately.
The only negative aspect of Jaipur is the heavy opening. Be economical on your sprays. Know your perfume here. It would be easy to ruin your experience by spraying too much. Experiment with this on days when you are not leaving home to get the right amount for you to wear to work or for a night out.

Xzotic Smells

This is an oldie but goody, the edt version of homme. The original edp version lasts longer and gives you better sillage and longevity. This isn't bad, it's a lighter scent for heavier days. Still that citrusy cinnamon barbershop vibe, that allows the flowers to bloom without confrontation. Definitely one if your a collector or into vintage scents. As always! Try it for yourself, everyone has different DNA!!!

bobbystone1

Someone wrote underneath Dries Van Noten that it was a carbon copy of Jaipur Homme, is this true?

Celeria

An oriental-fougère masterpiece.

Certainly the most sophisticated cheapie you could buy, and the classiest "90's style" men cologne. Think of Le Male, Body Kouros, The Dreamer... with an oriental twist, full of quality.

For me it's a 10/10, and it's not so much dated to my nose, it gives a nice sense of refinement to the wearer, and I think this could be unisex.

I really love the fact that it's multidimensional, just like the pentagon-shaped bottle shows us, with either gourmand, barbershop, creamy or cosy facets...
I don't know how the city of Jaipur smells like, but this cologne smells like something a Maharaja from the Middle-Age would wear.

Both EDT and EDP are great and last a really long time, but they have some differences, I prefer the EDT, which surrounds me more and lingers better in the air, the EDP sits closer to my skin.

Opening : EDT is powdery, slightly spicy with a touch of citrus the EDP opens in a really spicy oriental way, with cinnamon and a lot of nutmeg, at this stage they are quite different to my nose.

Mid : really similar, the spiciness in the EDP goes lower and it gets creamier, I begin to get a carnation note in the EDT, which is lighter in its vibe, it gives an "aura", and it lingers more than the EDP, whichs sticks closer.

Drydown : they go in a slightly different direction to my nose, the EDT remains creamy and cosy, thanks to the coumarin and benzoin, which a slight spicy note, maybe coming from the carnation. The EDP is more about amber and vanilla, almost gourmand in the far drydown.

Dr Harder

This scent is so good that I keep the bottle only for those days when I’m not feeling well and when I need something to lift my spirits and put a smile on my face. I can't understand how it is possible that this masterpiece is not more popular with people. When I first discovered this perfume it felt like when I first heard a band or watched a phenomenal movie that not many people had heard of and that meant so much to me. Thank you Annick Menardo for creating this little beautiful miracle

samwest61

It takes a lot for me to break out the keyboard and type a review but for Jaipur it has to be done! Blind bought 100ml cos hey, for 30 bucks what's to lose. Worse case it'll make a nice secret Santa.

Hold up Saint Nick! This frag ain't going nowhere! What a beauty. I'm enchanted by the zingy opening swiftly followed by the warm spicy glow of benzoin and cardamom. Can't think of a scent I'd rather be wearing at this time of year in Germany. So glad I found this hidden gem. Don't tell the hipsters about it, k?

scentury

Potent oriental that lasts and lasts. Mature men 45 or older can rock this scent.
However, take care to spray lightly - 2 sprays can fill up a medium sized room with its scent. Definitely try before you buy.

jturner333

It's an OKAY scent. To me it smells almost like a sunscreen right off the bat. Then it transitions to a cinnamon/mint toothpaste. Definitely wouldn't recommend this if you are under the age of say 40 or so. Very mature and slightly dated. It's not a bad scent by any means, I kind of like it. However, it is clearly meant for a more mature audience both in wearing it and enjoying it. I will have to pass on this one.

WGG

This is for the EDT. Ive had my bottle for some time now but resisted a review as the scent seems to smell subtly different on each wearing. However, here goes, the scent has definitely grown on me. I prefer this in cooler weather. Jaipur opens with a blast of citrus, this is deceiving as then gets smooth, creamy, slightly powdery oriental. I get carnation and cardamon more than other notes listed but this is well blended, not sure it matters really. Sits quite close to skin with a lovely calming bubble. There is no 'spiciness' or 'carry' as exists in other scents which announce the wearers presence in a loud way, but it does have decent staying power. Unisex, classy and comforting even. Suberb value at under £30 for 100ml.

upuautiii

This is the scream of subtlety. Incredibly cohesive composition. Notes are angels balanced on the head of a pin. A leisurely slow burner, taking 4-6 hours, to, slowly but surely, reach its scentual apex. By that time, it beautifully fades in and out for the wearer. It states: I'm present, but you have to look for me.

I've had compliments and questions, as to what the heck is this beautiful scent you're wearing, only to actually have to think to remember I am wearing Jaipur.

Overall: exquisite, dignified, grand, luxurious. A refined rich man's scent of success.

This is an absolute wow - have both this edt and also the adp and both are beautiful. I actually think the edt is stronger and perhaps more of a day scent whereas the edp is more intimate for the evening / night. Absolute stunner and well worth a blind purchase.

greekkey52

I love this! This is one of these fragrance that a woman can wear and get away with it. I get a lot of compliments. Spray it on my pajamas and last for days. Can't say enough! Beautiful!

Smokybroom

This is a lovely perfume, however, be warned that it does smell a little dated. For that reason, its probably one il wear for myself and not around other people very often.

Edit: I take everything back, I love this fragrance and its not too dated on the skin, its one of my favourites now.

Sammy@au

Jaipur boucheron.
Top class oriental.
Overlooked, spicy sweet gem from 1990s.
Vanilla, benzoin, spices.
It's very good, dry down is a nice lingering vanilla musk.

ejhinojosa

Beautiful frag. Very rich.
Personally I love the opening--a fast and fresh flash of citrus and aldehydes. Very alluring.

Heart is warm with rich jasmine and a classic "carnation" accord. Also slightly animalic.

The drydown is benzoin-leaning-towards vanilla. Very edible, very rich, and very sexy.

Moderate projection on me. I like it. Not cloying or too loud. Unbeatable value. Sophistication without complication. Broadly appealing. Easy blind buy.

IggeStockholm

Wow!
It smells absolutely amazing!!! Definitely my top 10 of all time
So well blended.
If you like la nuit you should probably like Jaipur

Fantastic fragrance

Scarlette

In the Top 5 best men's fragrances of all time for me!
About 1/4 the price it was in the late 90s...buy it!!
Exquisitely made, very, very sexy, smells very expensive, and I can't keep my hands or nose off my man when he wears it 💙

Cdub5_

Oh wow
WOW! Omg this is only $19?? Wow, this smells really, really good. I can't believe I don't hear more people talking about this.

This has dethroned Sean John 3am as the best cheapie, but this is only "cheapie" in the sense of its price. The scent itself is out of it's league for $19 fragrances. I'd pay $100 for this and not think twice.

Absolutely BIG BOTTLE BLIND BUY approved! Just wow...

Update: I just had to add this one bit for those that take this into consideration. This bottle is absolutely gorgeous! The shape, the contour, the colors...beautiful. It really stands out amongst my many other fragrances.

Dr Harder

Sweet delicate breeze that takes me on a journey to a time point of my life where I was immensly happy and joyful. There are no words to describe how much I love this masterpiece

Pryvycy

A delight, a favorite, and a go-to scent when I just want to dowse myself in luxury. Will replace my diminishing bottle of EDT with an EDP one day; I hear it is even better. Grab some, or better yet, try an inexpensive mini to see if you like it. You can get Jaïpur for a reasonable price and it deserves its well-earned place in the pantheon of distinguished men's colognes. Try Boucheron Pour Homme while you are at it; two nice companion scents, and it is grassier and distinct from J.

aromaticbotanist

Jaipur is sweet, spicy, warm, and rich, but not overpowering. I wouldn't call it amber. To me, amber needs labdanum, which I LOVE. But I still love Jaipur.
As others have mentioned, the initial impression is a bit harsh, but it quickly settles into a sophisticated and interesting cinnamon cardamom carnation spiciness on a liquorice sweet base. It's classy, but not boring. Mature, but not outdated.
It's currently autumn here, it's cold and grey and I'm wearing Jaipur at the office. Most of my colleagues are working from home. I was sitting outside having coffee and a smoke with the only other person in the building. The perfect setting for this fragrance. She leaned in close and said "You smell so nice. Your boyfriend is lucky". I agree :p

Benguin7

This scent puts me at ease. Very easy to wear in any situation. But just interesting enough to make a normal day a little inspired. Understated masterpiece.

djbethell

Not pleasant, like a dusty Victorian library.

Vitodito

This smells like the 90s

Dunnow what it is but brings me back to the gold times.

It’s like a classy sweetness, reminds me of World Cup France 98, Mark Morrison, Backstreet Boys, the college, 90210 Beverly Hills.

God bless the 90s

Lizabs68

I have the EDP of this as well, just beautiful is what I would say about Boucheron Jaipur EDP and the EDT.

Dipietro

Get through the opening and you are left with angel tears .

yes it is that good

konchokjenpa

The craziest part about this is that it actually does smell like Jaipur-- there is a warm, earthy, dusty quality of this fragrance that actually does smell like Rajasthan.

Spices, cinnamon, cardamom, lime, carnation and incense, with that warm dusty earthy base. It is absolutely unique. I don't know if I like it, or if I want to smell like it, but it doesn't smell like anything else on my shelf, and it performs well. It changes quite a bit through the first 30 minutes. The citrus is actually one of the last notes to come out, at first being overpowered by the spicy notes. This seems to be when it really comes together, as others have noted. I don't know, it might be growing on me.

Dr Harder

Leaves intoxicating trail, amazing price - quality - performance ratio. Menardo is a genius

libou

This one is smoother, less loud and less mature than edp. The "magical" dry down come most quickly. Definitively better than edp.
Scent: 10/10
Longevity : stay over 12 hours on my skin
Projection : moderate 6/10 which is perfect for this kind of perfume.
Value :10/10

(update on earlier review) wearing this again today. Its around 5C and a bit autumn. This is still an amazingly beautiful sexy beast. I love the opening and the spicy drydown. This reminds me a bit of Armani idole but for men. Most openings these days seem synthetic, this just reeks of regal. Maybe i have the BO of a minor Egyptian God, i dont know.

I can barely detect any citrusy scents but a very strong gingery cinnamon. I feel great wearing this after a workout, it works for older guys who know they stuff, not teenie boppers who would spray gasoline on themselves if it was in a decent bottle and a Youtuber told them to. But I can definitely smell that amazing exotic jasmine note in this.

Bottle is delicious too. The price point is very low given the performance of this particular edt.

Fragaddict123

The dry down is golden in this scent if you can get through the opening you are in for a treat very good longevity

Lolligagarella

I smell incredible right now. I haven’t worn this in 6 years and I’m only now really appreciating how fantastic it smells even though I loved it right away. I wonder how many other women wear this. STUPENDOUS trails waft behind me.

ION

Menardo has a unique style which I find a bit too introvert for my taste, but I do have some of her perfumes since I always appreciate everyone (and everything) with a style of his own!
This one performs brilliantly (I have a new edt batch and smells like all the niche perfumes I know if not better)! 😁
The composition is not as refined (I don't think) as that of the other masculine of the house called "Boucheron pour Homme", but among the two it is "Jaipur" I prefer the most.
Is it the same nose behind this one and "Body Kouros"?
You bet it is!

Su8072

I've got this today and initial impression is as follows:

EDT

Opening is a very synthetic citrus that fades out after probably 30 mins and makes way for a very nice spicy early mid. This stage it reminds me very much of old school aftershave type scents like brut/old spice. I absolutely get the cinnamon in this, and the floral notes come into play slightly later on and are soft and relaxing. I do see the baby powder comparisons that people are making in other reviews. Totally get that bit it's a rather simplistic way of putting it, it's a very light rose note I'm picking out with something else to sweeten it.

The base I get a very soft woodsy note and a vanilla not tonka to my nose.

I've got the EDT because I've smelt the EDP and it's a bit 'perfumy' to me if that makes any sense at all.

Also the edt for me is more punchy in the opening and mid which I prefer. It's a very good projector and lasts fine, easily all day. I actually think you could pull this off on a cool spring day as well as a warm summer night, I'd be interested to see how a light application and a bit of heat worked with this one.

Worth a try it's not a must have nor a 10/10 fragrance for me but for the price it's really very very good. O really enjoy it so it's a nice one for me to wear. Dressed up would suit this, office boss, management interview or weddings you'd be sure to stand out. Silly not to buy it for the money but be aware the bottle cap is crap.

slbaaron

I think this type of smell profile doesn't fit super well with people that has little to no body odor. It has a kind of profile I would describe as "works really well with light to medium BO in a way that's not an attempt at covering everything up (and give me a headache), but working together somehow into a better result". But people with no BO cannot use this advantage if not ending up a lil weird or lacking in the end result. I can sweat and then dry and the next day I would have a hard time differentiating a pack of clothes via nose on whether I've worn them or not. In fact, the only reason I can ever tell is when I put on colognes so I know they have been "used". That's the skin / sweat profile I have. I also have a sensitive smell.

To be clear, this does NOT smell overpowering or strong, those more often than not go straight to the garbage can for me. This has a nice profile to it that is on the more mature side with hint of a feminine perfume (as in the composition with rose, jasmine, flowery and some others - however the end result is very much male-biased). But I think without at least a hint of natural body odor (or simply body smell, if you will), this ends up a bit too sweet - someone has mentioned baby powder which is quite true to me as well.

Edit: In my head this should work well with cigarette smoke too even without any BO, as that used to be one of my top criteria in selecting colognes before I quit smoking. Unfortunately I can no longer test out this hypothesis.

gmar117

On me this smells of baby powder and disposable diapers.

sameenuk

This scent is so versatile. Can wear it for work and also for going out

Opening topnotes have this rum , sorry distinctively spicy , regal flavour. Not peppery but a wake you up scent. I actually find it a little bland after the novelty wears off but it's still a nice scent. What I do love is during the day, this one really stays on for a while while and the drydown is very very lush, almost floral but somehow not. There is such a good blend here.

11Mic22hael33

Smells like Royalty. I get a strong sense of something animalic, like the finest Mink fur. A genuine masterpiece if there ever was one. In the late dry-down, when that cedar note starts to poke through and the lime, bergamot reappear out of nowhere, it is pure magic. VERY CLASSY, yet easy to wear in all situations. Formal occasion worthy, or just sitting around at home, drinking a beer!!! Amazing.

juljan

oh jaipur, why do i love thee? let me count the ways.

edp: easy, rich, relaxing, exotic, comforting, solid, fragrant (aha,) old yet young, clean, spicy/floral/resinous. a journey in a bottle.

if only the real city of jaipur smelled as good. but, this is an idealized oriental. silk pillow oriental in a mosaic-walled and mirrored chamber.

the connoisseur may disdain the obvious play in this scent, it plays to middle brow which makes it lovable and extremely wearable. there is no effort required to feel comfortably male and well groomed. (not to say a woman could not wear it beautifully.) it has an assertiveness without being overpowering.

i often read that some complain about a lack of "originality" with some perfumes. not sure what this means. are their noses not able to discern differences in different fragrances? or maybe that a fragrance is a "clone?" if it smells good and works with a person's body chemistry, that would seem to be all that should count. jaipur may not impress anyone as a great leap in a new direction of olfactory art. for this reason, i love it. i don't need to acquire a taste for it. no one will wrestle with getting the concept. it is comfortable and beautiful for me.

yes, it is love with a price that will not break the bank, nor your heart.

Padhee83

The oriental spicy king.Well, there are various contenders but for me Jaipur Homme wins handsomely.
It is a distant cousin of Opium pour homme from YSL which was released 3 years earlier than Jaipur but Jaipur is more woody spicy whereas Opium is sickly sweet with Tolu Balsam and Vanilla.
Jaipur starts with lots of Spice and some mild citrus but spices dominate which continue till mid notes. Finally in the base you are left with cinnamon, vanilla ,Tonka and some cloves which gives a wonderful powdery trail. It is sophisticated for sure. There is no cheap note or a loud dominant note.It is blended perfectly to give a spicy powdery feeling.
Longevity is superb with 9-10 hours and leaves a wonderful projection for not less than 4 hours. Then smell becomes arms length.
Jaipur Homme smells mature but ladies do appreciate it's sophisticated smell.Hardly anyone will dislike it.Wonderful for office and cold cosy weather.
Only downside is that it is not very versatile. Not at all for hot sweaty weather but air conditioned office space suits just fine for the scent.
My new favorite and between Jacques Cavallier(Opium) and Annick Menardo (Jaipur) Menardo wins this battle for me.

@ivalops, finally!!!!

ivaylops

They finally added the EDP as a separate entry in the database.

alphairone

If this (the EDP that is) were a Roja Dove, the bros would cream their jeans and drop three bills. Seriously, for just over 20 bucks, you get an Annick Menardo oriental mammoth. Go easy now, this one swirls and envelops like a genie out of the bottle, bemusing and bewildering you until you are in a trance.

The benzoin badness is looking to kick ass and take names. In all seriousness though, this is another one where the quality belies its price point. If you're low on dough and want to satiate a desire for rich winter scent, look no further, guys and gals.

schmooschmoo

A very quality made fragrance. Even the bottle is special (very upscale '90's). A clean, traditional scent that is utterly BEAST MODE!!!!! So, word of advice: Don't overuse; Don't wear at all if you're nauseous, prone to motion sickness, or recovering from a hangover, or around people who fall into one of the above categories. Also, this can be a confusing scent if you overthink it.....so don't. (Lots of contradictions: It's creamy, but sharp and peppery. It's a traditional scent, but also modern with a little edge. It's familiar, but exotic. etc.) Just appreciate it for what it is. And if you don't like it, that's ok, this is a scent that isn't going to be loved, or even liked, by a lot of people. There are still times when I spray this one on that I can't decide if I love it or hate it.

slave for scents

I was a teenager when a perfume called Miss Saigon made a killing here. (No, I don't know the provenance of the perfume. Suffice to say, it was dirt cheap - so cheap that every woman was overdosing on the stench, er, scent). All of a sudden the whole city block was aswirl with this pungent concoction. To my untrained nose the headache - inducing nightmare smelled like insecticide, hence, my name for it - "Miss Baygon".
Fast forward 20 years. I was browsing a perfume shop when I saw Jaipur pour Homme. Not familiar with the house, I read the reviews from Fragrantica. So, mostly superlatives,eh? So the next time I was in the perfumery's vicinity, I went and bought the bottle of Jaipur.
Evening comes, I was at home, the fragrance ready for testing. Initial spritz, and...
OH MY GAWD!!! MISS BAYGON resurrected!!
Needless to say, It's been gifted to a friend who appreciates it so much he and his wife wear it whenever they visit me....

craniumbash

Got lucky and found testers of the vintage edt from 19 years ago. This thing is easily better than many 'niche' fragrances I've come across in the last decade.

ElCaupo

wonderfull classic, 2 sprays and projects like napalm, it's woody and spicy, cinnamon and carnation are strong here but not in sweet way its very refined and smell so good, is not oudated! its just not ambroxan and tutti frutti for ants :D

MartinoG

This is the love of my life, and it's irreplaceable!!! This is the fragrance you should choose for a royal wedding ceremony, especially the EDP concentration. It is so elegant, so sophisticated, so complex and so mysterious at the same time. I'm speechless! I encountered it many years ago when I visited Berlin during my business trip. In the biggest German fragrance shop located in the centre of the city, there was a Boucheron stand exposing this gem. It appeared in my country many years later. I tested this golden potion and I thought that's how a dignified prince had to smell. I am fond of both EDT and EDP. However, if I were supposed to choose the essence of the essence, I would go after EDP. I have stocked up on this perfume - 7 x 100ml bottles :) - in case it suddenly disappears from the market like the other scents I used to enjoy and miss a lot. EDP lasts for 6 hours while EDT lasts for 5 hours, which is really, really long when it comes to my skin. It leaves an amazing trail behind you, and this is one of the roles a perfect fragrance should play. I always have it in my bag and use it again and again during the day. Its bottle and box herald the elegance and sophistication hidden inside. I have been using it for a long, long time, and I'm not going to stop doing it. This is one of my signature scents! This is the love of my life! All the fragrances created by Boucheron are, to an alarming extent, magnificent.

EauDeBaldy

Wore this regrettably, without testing this on my hand first.

This thing is way too mature & way too dated for my liking.

It has a barbershop smell to it but, there’s just something that I can’t get into with this one. It’s the cloy smell that wraps around this scent that just had me counting the minutes until this thing would fade away.

Guitar 2016

A Hidden Gem! It's a very refined oriental scent. It opens up with citrus and it changes with background spicy Cinnamon and Nutmeg then dry down is sweet vanilla. This fragrance is not heavy spicy but it has a well-balanced composition,it smells so good, elegant, classy and sophisticated. It perfect for the fall and winter. I really enjoy it and I love Jaipur Homme Boucheron EDT.
Thumbs Up.

Wearing this one today . got a hunch to look into this looking for Cinnamon scent . Im a lady and not affraid to test and wear a mans perfume if its not to masculine .
I must edmit i was very suprised when i put this one. Many says its so strong , sharp . in your face . But to me its soft EDP version. In fact i have to say i was expecting something warm and spicy looking at the notes , But this is so floral and light citrusy more then anything spicy i have tested . the vanilla is cold and so are the benzoin and other notes that usualy warms it up . I can not find any Cinnamon or much Carnation in this at all. Infact it reminds me of the female version of Jaipur Saphire Boucheron . Powdery creamy slight citrusy , This one has more citrus and more uplifted then the Nivea cream kind of Saphire Jaipur IMO. There is also something reminding me of Oscar DLR Esprit here . the citrus and heliotrop part . Heliotrop might not be listed here but its there for sure . Had i not know that this was a mens perfume i would have thought it was a ladys for sure . Nothing says Masculine in this scent for me . at least not on my skin . I dont mind a man wearing ladys scent and vice versa just to state that . Wear what you love and like . A very beautiful soft scent close to skin . but with a presence . Happy to have adecant of it , I may go for a bottle after some more testing . Cold weather testing at this time , Maybe the notes will warm up more in warmer climat and or weather .
Also need to add that this reminds me abit of piz buin sun lotion.

11PHOSPHORUS11

It’s a lovely, balanced scent that can be worn anytime, day or night, winter or summer.

The feminine equivalent would be Eternity by CK

It’s creamy and spicy, a bit too light in my opinion as I’d prefer it to have more resinous and oily base however it's easy to wear, somewhere between formal and casual.

Office? Yes!
Date? Yes!
Funeral? Yes!

Made by a perfumer responsible for one of the best-bestsellers on the olfactory market, so it’s very up the commercial stream.

Read the reviews, liked the notes, blind bought! Mistake. I have no idea what's in this juice but it did not react well with my chemistry. This makes me think it was put together by an anosmic, blind, first-time perfumer with a sadistic streak. A skunk would wear this if it wanted to augment it's natural defenses to eye-watering effect. I could not wash this stuff off after trying repeatedly, and the odor remained on my skin for over 24 hours. So I suppose, to its credit, the longevity is incredible. This went straight into the trash. Not for me.

Chanel de Lanvin

A little odd that the perfume version is not listed on the site, it is in itself a success and has more character and hold than the Eau de toilette.

Rastaman

EDP bought in 2020.
Oh. Wow. At first wear it crossed my mind several times that this is it. This is the way a man should smell.
A very well blended work of art.
This is not "old" in any way so don't even worry about smelling like gramps (or grandma). I personally get no visions of barbershops with this. I do get a extremely rich wonderful best ever handmade artisanal soap feel at some point but then it fades into a majestic spiciness that is deep, erotic and evolving. The wearer will be leaving a wispy trail of mystique...
The entire scent profile to me is very natural. Not even a hint of anything synthetic. Smooth from start to finish. Performance is top class.

Kuldeep S

I made a side by side comparison of Jaipur wit CK OBSESSION EDT. I sprayed them on my both arms.

Obsession- Sweet, muskier than vanillic.
Jaipur- bitter plus sweet in heart notes. Vanillic sweet with powderiness in the dry down. ( that makes it somewhat similar to the Le male original.

the longevity of Jaipur is better than CK obsession

Cortina1981

Wow!Yesterday got this beauty(i went straight for the EDP version)and Azzaro pour homme intense(2015).What a phenomenal blind buys!I don’t believe that i was without this Boucheron last 20+ years, since its introduction.Such a powerful masculine and refined scent!I can’t hardly wait for winter to rock this one a lot!Yes,very refined, just like guerlain heritage, but this one is more modern, and more spicy. This is must have in any refined and tasteful modern gentleman’s closet.A must have!It is that good.Criminally good!

lightborn

Very nice. Most splendid. Quite lovely.
This is a real treat. From first sniff of the bottle you know you're onto a winner. It opens with a lovely smooth bergamot, sweet and not harsh. Then the delicious cardamom comes through. This blends beautifully with the bergamot. At this point all the floral notes start to kick in; the carnation, rose, and a rich sugary jasmine. And on the subject of sugary, that benzoin, ohhhh so perfect. With the tonka bean - also perfect, so almondy, creamy, sweet vanilla ee (vanillay? No, that's not a word) - holding everything together in the background. This is luxurious, warm, balsamic, fragrance heaven in a bottle.
A few dabs to the neck should give you 12 hours of bliss and pretty heavy sillage.
Yes, I love it.

Kuldeep S

The good thing about this fragrance is you can perceive clearly all three stages(opening, mid, base). I have gone through Mr smelly's review of Jaipur. He says that it somewhat reminds him of the brute. It is true, I get similarities with Pinaud club man aftershave, obsession for men EDT, Brute.

Kuldeep S

Opening- Synthetic citrus
Middle- bitter almond with emerging sweetness.
Base- Sweet, delicious , mouth watering, and powdery.

maxpowerboston

This review is for the vintage bottle (1999) of the EDP. This is an extremely smooth, refined, slightly sweet and spicy vanilla based scent. Interestingly, this is a scent I've smelled many times in a few iterations (vintage EDT/EDP, modern EDT/EDP) and I've never been able to shake the "play-doh" scent note I've always associated with this. If you had access to this childhood putty toy, you know the vanilla/salty/almond scent.

I'd say this is best for the cooler months, more of an upper class scent. I much prefer the richer and rounder EDP and the vintage lasts a bit longer and feels fuller than the modern one. On me it's a skin scent pretty quickly, it's got decent longevity (4-6 hours) and is mildly versatile (date night, office scent in cool months).

A 7.5/10 for me. The vintage EDP is an overall nice scent that is so well-blended and pleasant. Play-Doh chic!

Suic1d3_Mach1n3

The benzoin really sticks out the most, its like a warm honey smell. I dont notice the cinnamon but im sure others can. I really notice the Tonka bean. Its very nice and sweet and im sure the citrus and floral play a roll in its smell they just dont stand out alone, they all blend well and give Jaipur its unique Scent. Because its so warm i would not wear in hot weather. I would wear during fall nights, maybe spring nights too. Lasts long and is pretty cheap online.

Longevity 9/10
Sillage 8/10
Projection 8.5/10
Performance 8.8/10
Price 8.2/10

Overall 42.5 Grade- S

OMG!!!what take me so long to write my review on fragrantica about my most complimented fragrance, to be honest i don't much time to make reviews and checkin' all the perfumes in the page but somehow i do find my self walking through my collection sniffing them and see what they say on fragrantica.
Jaipur pour homme edp it was my favorite fragrance until i know about l'instant de guerlain eau extreme which is now my favorite fragrance and it get me the most compliments than any fragrance in my collection.
Simply if you want to impress any lady in the room just put this on and go through it.
It opens up with a punch of citruses that warmed up with cardamom and cinamon, and when it dries down you will notice the sweetnes coming from tonka beans/benzoin and cedarwood give this a manly backround.
Sillage and longevity are incredible 12h+
10/10 fragrance.

KingRidesBy96

My subconscious perceives the general accord as clearly gorgeous. It wafts a heliotropic, almondy, warm pastry-crust aura that is incredibly smooth and well blended. Fit for anyone, and warm-hearted. That's the good part, and I enjoy tiny distant wafts of it as I would passing heliotrope flowers in a greenhouse. It's spirit stalks in the long shadow of the early Guerlains, esp. L'Heure Bleue.

However, despite its fluffy breeziness, there is a very severe heartnote that reminds me of someone blow-drying a lot of freshly shampooed hair. That part is awful to me. It makes me think of fluffy bathrobes and pampering and late showers on a hot day, and I despise this image. It negates the natural and appealing scent of heliotropes and pastry on a hot breeze, and makes me feel irritated when I catch that shampoo whiff -- like when you've washed your hands or hair with something that is too strongly and generically scented. The solution I think is to apply as a light and diffusive mist on the skin.

Helmut Lang Cologne is miles more of my style, shaking the almondy heliotrope up with hairspray, paint, fresh mashed lavender, and a moist musk.

For Jaipur, I have both the EDT and the EDP and feel the difference is the thickness of the heart and base. The EDT is a fluffy, silky creature of it's own; but the EDP hangs closer with the Zino / Heritage / Tiffany Men / Lalique Homme / Bois du Portugal frat. But I prefer each of those because, imo, the thick pasty texture of the almond/heliotrope in Jaipur is a bit sickly sweet in the EDP. See also my dislike of Habit Rouge EDP and Eau Sauvage Parfum -- just too fluffy thickly sweet.

waruna gomis

Blind bought this edp.
It's somewhat a thick iris based Fragrance. Feels and smells oily. The fragrance is regal and gallant.

Ideal for a date night if that's your thing.
Could be worn in any climate except for extremely hot 35°C and above days outside.

For me it's a like not a love.

Has a sexy appeal.
Great projection
Long lasting

Just received the edp and can hands down say its the beastly fragrance ive waited for.
Who would bother purchasing creed aventus for hundreds of £s for it to last 30mins tops when you can get this for £30 and have it last for 8 hours
The answer is me
Had the edt version a while back and loved that, but this is something different. Absolute stunning creation

Timeless masterpiece ! Jaipur is a true gem from boucheron!

EDP
I was hoping for an Amber fragrance but on me, this opens spicy (like that! love spicy!!) how ever dry's down that can only be described as a pass time Candy Rootbeer barrels
it smells like rootbeer barrels on me! sure it works if you layer it with a nice Barber shop frag (Encre Noire Extreme or Tragedy of Lord George) then it works

how ever this is off for a mature man in his 30+ by it's self
I will not use this fragrance by it's self

Romantic Raja (Annick Menardo, 1998)

Scentrack; Suzanne Vega - Caramel

Did Jaipur, the magnificent Indian Pink City get equally magnificent perfume version? YES...
Jaipur Homme is a beautiful hidden, and perfectly cut perfume diamond made by Annick Menardo. Annick Menardo is one of my favorite perfumers. Her every perfume tells a story, and Jaipur is a fairy tale. Almost too good to be true.
Jaipur opens up with soft Indian citrus fruits and then cardamom. The sunny Oriental refreshment is soon followed by cinnamon storm with benzoin lightnings. Carnation in the middle gives some serious old school vibe, while rose and jasmine a fragile romantic heart. Tonka and vanilla are both responsible for the almost gourmand sweetness, but never becoming a true gourmand. I also feel the heliotrope which always livens up vanilla heavyweight perfumes. Behind this benzoin wall I sense some apricot and tobacco Southern sweetness.
Jaipur shares some similarities with Givenchy Pi, but while Pi is a good scent Jaipur is a great perfume. Additionally, I sense the same benzoin theme shared with Menardo's Body Kouros.
At the beginning Jaipur does possess some good old school qualities, associated with wealth and power. Oriental, but very clean (Nivea cream accord!!). Soon, it becomes more personal, gentle and balmy. Beautifully structured from top to base. Like it was covered with virtual star dust. Great idea materialized in Oriental golden drops. Often we look for something great on far more expensive places. No need, while Jaipur is here. In the example of Jaipur, useless is a classic designer / niche dichotomy.
The scent created for winter leisure and relaxation. Made for dreamers.

Powdery, spicy but clean, pleasantly comforting. It creates an aura of manly yet refined confidence around you. The drydown reminds me of the fabulous Midnight in Paris. Not for the very young. Do not overspray, this juice is strong and long lasting.

One of the weirdest, exotic fragrances I've ever smelled in my entire life. I do like it but it's hard to describe or DEFINE how to wear this fragrance. This is unisex, not so masculine ...

Projection and silage? ALMOST BEAST MODE!

Almost a niche-quality for the price!

WARNING: Do not EVER blind-buy this.

The Hawa Mahal Heart In A Bottle

Situated at Badi Choupad, Pink City of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal is also known as "Palace of Breeze" and was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, who was the founder of Jaipur. It has 953 windows on the outside walls and is made with the red and pink sandstone. The honeycomb-shaped and beautifully carved windows allow the zephyr to blow through the palace and make it a perfect summer palace. Can you fancy a gentle breeze smelling like Jaïpur Homme that caresses you like a lullaby? Yeah, I guess I can.

I was lucky enough to find both Jaïpur Homme and Boucheron pour Homme on an online site at a ridiculous price. I had been keeping an eye on them for some time, but I always wavered having never had the opportunity to try them. Years ago I thought it smelled very oldfashioned and I didn't care for them. But in the end, I took them blindly. To begin with, Jaïpur Homme is a spicy oriental cologne that exists in both EDT and EDP concentrations, and today I'm going to review the EDT one. It is a precious little gem, the cap represents a famous Boucheron ring named Boucheron Paris Jaipur Lapis Lazuli Cabachon 18k Gold Ring. It smells dusty, powdery, sweetish spicy, woody, and resinous, though there is no one dominant spice you get but a beautiful mix of them all. The scent is perfect, especially for those who like colognes that are rich in spices. A hidden gem indeed. Not many people know about this masterpiece.

The opening is hot and sweet, but not cloying in any means, aspect, or style, with an exciting addition for the leading note cinnamon, you can smell cinnamon powder in this one, which completely spices this jewel fantasy. It greats you with a royal cardamon, plenty of heliotropes, light citrus that last as a blink of an eye, the overall accord is somehow reminiscent of Givenchy PI, neither a clone nor a rip-off, merely sharing the same vibe and opening. Hence, a costly citrus-bergamot opening with cinnamon, nutmeg, and heliotrope playing a remarkable role.

The woody accord is gorgeous, regal in every aspect of the word. After the start, the fragrance is a benzoin-centric strong poison, it grows on your skin and gets better and better hour after hour. The dustiness and powderiness are nostalgic of mama's Felce Azzurra talcum powder, for those who were habitual to. One will also find carnation, I believe that in this fragrance is what gives it it's superior qualities. Moist, innocent and sweet, the rose makes up for many other notes rudeness without turning this scent into an opulent Emirate rosy perfume.

It goes down to the skin scent territory in about three hours, ain't vanilla cake, yet a vanilla powder maybe thanks to benzoin pairing. The dry-down is warm, sensual and somewhat bitter. It turns to be delightfully powdery and woody with a consistent dose of vanilla, or tonka according to the roaster, that's perfectly balanced and orchestrated to never become overwhelming or even dominant. Very rich, tremendously long-lasting and even a bit loud but masterfully executed.

Reminiscent of Ghivency PI, subtle powdery and soft vanilla, Jaïpur Homme brought to my nose that familiar nice powdery, smooth, and the sweet vanilla note of PI, but the similarities ended there. The sophisticated and elegant structure, rich spices with comforting sweet notes and bold projection make Jaïpur Homme perhaps one of the best examples of the male Orientals. But the similarities do not end here, cause Jaïpur Homme has that barbershop fill akin to Brut by Fabergé. Under some aspects, you might be reminded of Habit Rouge and Shalimar by Guerlain, and even Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin. Jaïpur Homme is sharing more than one similarity with the latter. Still, while the first turns to a dominant vanilla dry-down and the second surely exceeds in the gourmand aspect, it is perfectly balanced by the clever use of heliotrope. It has a little of each but is not equal to anyone.

Jaïpur Homme is a Fall for the EDT, but I feel that early Spring is also an option, whereas Winter is for the EDP since it is more luxurious and slightly spicer. I wouldn't wear it in the heat since I tent to choose sweet fragrances this time of year (e.g. it's middle Winter now in Italy) and fresh ones in the warmer days. This fragrance can be worn day or evening, and I think it is more suitable for casual wear. This scent is relaxing and suits weekend downtime.

Overall, I think if you are someone who considers themselves a nobleman, and you appreciate well-made perfumery and fragrances for men, you should check Jaïpur Homme out. An excellent oriental composition in almost every sense of the word, it's woody without being vexatious, and spicy without muting the other notes. Annick Menardo mastered it, smooth as silk, not regal enough to be a dress-up only fragrance, and too well made to be a strictly casual creation.

marcel2782

Distinct but simple aroma, simple to describe: "cardamomed" bergamot. Think of the skin of a good lemon, creamy-resinous and sweetened. Resembles a Swiss lemonade. Cinnamon can be felt subtly, and is responsible for a touch of class. Satisfactory performance.

Vacano

Mysterious, enticing, eastern, foreign, long lasting.....an oriental classic.

Jaipur Homme has become one of my unexpected favorites. I blind bought the EdP version, not quite sure what to expect. This fragrance has been described as both spicy and fresh, clean and dirty, dated and contemporary... and it lives up to all these adjectives. It truly is a perfectly balanced oriental barbershop, weaving clean citrus aromatics into the spicy-floral base. At first, it's a pure zing of fresh chai that settles down into clean leather and dusty carnation, with lemon-lime flashes throughout. Stellar performance, both in sillage and longevity. Definitely better in cooler weather, good for day and night. While the odor profile is more traditionally masculine, anybody could (and should) rock this scent. Not dated at all, but it would feel a bit incongruous on the under-25 crowd, I think.

Darius HIldenbrandt

Boucheron's true unique scent! Boucheron's genial oriental poem about brachmans Eden gardens in India Rajastan palaces...very powerfull delicate refined rich warm long long lasting perfume for mature men....

JBar79

EDP is a perfect clean and spicy blend with just the right level of powdery sweetness. Unless you overspray, this one is just about as satisfying as they come. Overspray (over 1 spray) and it becomes cloying.

Luciero

I got both the EDT and the EDP. I suggest to take the EDP because it's much richer and not cloying at all. The EDT is a chemical mess i had to scrub it off. The EDP is my Signature because it's that good!

SMAinHK

All I can say is, I sprayed 1 spray on my wrist and I can't help stop smelling it every few seconds.

Top Class frag.

BalkanFragranceLover

Good performance, longevity, but the cinnamon note is way to dominant, none of the other notes can even hope to be noticed from start to finish.

MrGrosvenor

okay so I blind bought this one after seeing a couple of YouTube reviews. It was not what I expected I somewhat like the opening but the dry down leave me with a powdery vanilla scent that I find to be very feminine. Smells like refined baby powder :) In fact if I didn´t have the bottle to read on I would think this was a ladies perfume. That doesen´t have to be negative but I was definitely expecting a lot more darker notes in this one. Since I got a full 100 ml bottle I will give it some time but dont think it will grow on me much.

Not a fan of this one at all, definitely try before you buy as this seems very dated. 3/10

Migalex

If I were to choose what I think are the two best fragrances for men, Jaipur would be one of them. The other one would be Declaration. But if one does not like the scents of carnation and cardamom, may not enjoy this. For the most part of the scent life, I find these ones the strongest notes, giving it a clove-ish, harsh, very sharp scent, very well achieved, like rays of light or even material rays. Personally, I am not very fond of carnation scent, mostly of the cloveish type used here, but I do admire the sharp texture it imparts to some fragrances the way it is used, and this is one of the best examples I know of it. In the advanced drydown, once the carnation scent has almost gone, you do get a powdery, irisish soft and sweet scent, absolutely divine. Makes me wonder where did it come from, since it is apparently nothing to do with the previous stage of the fragrance, as in a complete metamorphosis. Brilliant.

neonlive

A super classy, oriental, sexy scent. But more of a "wealthy man in charge" type of sexy, than a seductive jock from the nightclub.

It opens with a very strong cinnamon scent and closes with nice spicy-woody notes.

Long-lasting, but not too long (the toilette), I'd say about 6-7 hours.

In terms of age, I'd say it's perfect for a man above 30, it's a bit too much for a teenager.

Definitely a night-time, colder weather scent, not appropriate to use on a very hot day, would be too overwhelming.

Overall, I recommend. Used at the perfect setting in terms of weather, time, age - definitely a 10/10.

ozlemmenguloglu

is it edp version or edt??

Filosykos

I had the metal edp version in 2003.
It was the strongest most polarizing fragrance i ever had. It was more powerful than vintage amen. I felt it was just too mature for my age at the time and foolishly i gave it away. Now that fragrances have become so weak these days id like to buy it again. Wonder if it's as strong as it was back then...

Don Pitralon

Oriental masterpiece with price/value ratio out of this world. Go for EdT - it is less powdery and dense. The juice is so well blended that I’m having a hard time to distinguish individual notes (apart from pleasant cedar wood in the dry down), but I do not care as the whole package smells divine:-)

libou

@TrephineArtist: go to the edt.it's less powdery and less mature

sorox

I agree with user @buzzbob - not sure if it is a matter of my skin type. Bought the EdP from Notino UK and I am very disappointed.

It looks like a genuine product but its attributes are nothing related to the ratings here. I
t has a very weak sillage and its longevity barely reaches two hours...for an EdP, which I find ridiculous when you get £5 after shaves with better projection.

Otherwise, its notes seem very appealing.

TrephineArtist

I tried the EDP of this again today after trying it a year ago.

I like certain aspects of Jaipur a lot but other aspects not so much.

First the negatives (to my taste) are that I find it very powdery, particularly for the first hour or so but it always remains somewhat as such. A couple of reviewers mentioned that it's feminine, like a particular perfume for women from the 1960s or 70s and I agree, it has that kind of vibe to it. Don't get me wrong though, I think this is a fine scent, I'm just describing what it recalls for me.

The positives are that something in this, most likely the benzoin, tonka, cinnamon and general balsamic nature remind me of Azzaro's brilliant cinnamon & brandy extravaganza that is their Pour Homme Intense EDP (2015), that one is a much more modern, masculine and darker fragrance (lacking the powdery florals of Jaipur) but both are equally well done. I find the Azzaro more to my tastes however. For now at least.

Edit: Superb lasting power and general performance with the EDP.

RobbieX

First of all, it's very powerful. Jaipur is floral, unisex, spicy and memorable. The silage is a complete attention grabber for good or ill. I think this is a love or hate perfume. My wife hates it but I think it has character and memories for me. The memories are from (I think) a woman's perfume back in the 60's. At any rate, it's amazing.

Onlineturk

it smelles like 60+ woman, very strong very potent, not my taste. If you liked obsession you probably like this too

Rune

Oh, I love it! I blind bought this (but I do remember from a small tester I had 20-30 years ago that I really liked it). I got it in the mail today, and just now sprayed. I instantly love it. It is very classy. And very comfortable. And quite "mild". It does not blow your face off, it is mild and very pleasant. Kind of fresh too. Very different from Joop Homme, which I tested earler today.

I can not describe scents, so I guess I will not even try. The experts have to do that.

But Jaïpur is quite fresh, but not sporty, and not fresh-fresh but have a freshness, if you understand? Not very sweet. Not very woody. It is not dirty but clean. It feels very "balanced" in every way. My immediate reaction was "high class good looking young man". It is absolutely just lovely! Not cloying, not pointy and sharp but more toned down. Yes, I like it, nothing more to say. I feel it is suitable for all seasons and all time of the day (I don't at all believe that some scents are best for daytime and some for nighttime, some for winter and some for summer. If they are good, they are good for year round and whatever time of the day. It does not matter).

The only negative is that it perhaps it a little too clean and classy and balanced and beautiful. But maybe I'm too used to the rough, strong and very loud arabic scents I have been wearing in the last years.

Sidney Goosecreature

Spicy baby powder. Pass.

You spent $300 at a barber in Milan this is what you expect to smell like after.

Wow! I had the EDT of this and really liked it. I bought the EDP a couple of weeks ago and wore it today for the first time and was really disappointed. I sprayed it and apart from an unpleasant chemical opening which lasted a few minutes it was completely odourless. I mean i really couldn't smell anything at all after about 30 mins. I bought this form a reputable dealer and can only assume that performance has been watered down to zero or I got a duff bottle.

Not good.

I remember passing this scent up always back in the late 1990s when I was youngster, because I never saw marketing for this brand. I always was smelling Chanel, Armani, Gucci or Bvlgari mens colognes like Blvgari blv which blew me away then.

Now in 2019, I sniff this Masterfulblend. Mannn shit, I feel Im done trying to find my Formal and Business casual scent, because this scent is the Creme of the Crop. It holds up to all the modern scents now.

Every woman or man I pass by loved it. I had women that said that sent is smells so good, yummy, sexy and manly all that, what is it??

So now I have to find me a bottle and buy it for my self, for the collection.

Jaipur Pour Homme Eau de Parfum; Just a beautiful scent! Nothing compares to this; and at such a fantastic price! Warm spiciness oozes from this glowing and peppery hot, soft vanilla fragrance. A real gem, it lasts awhile. I get whiffs periodically after 7 hours letting you know that it's still there. As JaJa Gabor would say; Just wonderful darling, Wonderful!!!

Sherine777

UNISEX.. without a doubt.

Seems Cinnamon and Carnation smell like Cloves and remind me so much of Channel Coco and vintage YSL Opium.
If you love one of these 2, you will love this.

A beautiful timeless perfume that I am happy I came across.

Edit: It does have Cloves, found this below and it matches what I'm getting.

From Boucheron website
Top note : Clove, Bergamot
Middle note : Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Violet
Bottom note: Vanilla, Amber

Edit2: I think this must have been butchered with reformulation, longevity is poor while it's EDP, tried it on myself and on my husband. Now I'm bummed :(

Buy the edp, not the edt. The edp's performance is top notch, 12 hours.

I think this will be the classic scent vibe that i wouldn't want to get rid of. It's scrumptious, it's cinnamony, and yes it's powdery, and hence i suspect there's supposed to be some iris as well in the composition.

I've got nothing but love for this.

Gourmand Michael

TL,DR - GET THE EDP NOT THE EDT. I initially bought the EDT and despite really enjoying the scent (a creamy, clean barbershop with a bit of spice) it got pushed to the back of my fragrance shelf. The reason for this was poor longevity and sillage on my skin. After a quick spritz the other day reignited my love for the scent, I decided to invest £30 and pick up the EDP from eBay. In my opinion the EDP is double the quality of the EDT. It's the same beautiful scent but much thicker and simply oozes quality. I know this is being recommended predominantly as a winter scent but I can imagine this warm, creamy potion wearing well on a summer evening around a fire pit with drinks and friends. 5/10 for the EDT and a strong 8 for the EDP.

RAG1987

I've wanted to try this for a long time and finally decided to get myself a bottle of the EDT. I'll be purchasing the EDP soon. I love it, soft creamy and spicy fragrance. One spray on the back of my hand lasted a few hours.

It's funny how some people are saying it's not for younger people. Well I'm 31, that's not too young but not quite of the "mature" age group just yet but I've liked this type of fragrance forever. Seriously if you like the smell of something then honestly just wear it, why conform to "age scents" I wear the likes of Givenchy Xeryus, VC&A Pour Homme as well as more recent fragrances, couldn't care less if someone doesn't like it or if they think I smell like their Dad, just means their Dad has good taste too.

CRBass5

A nice manly classic smell. Performance on me was around 4-6 hours when over sprayed. For the price I think this is something I can be happy with even if it wears off during the day. Pretty strong stuff, too.

Buy Again? Yes. But I think I'll get the EDP.

Smell - 3.5/5
Performance - 3.5/5

wisconsinboy

there's more to this than the notes list. add some spices besides cardamom and cinnamon. add a shit ton of heliotrope. a shit ton. almonds and play-dough by the shovel-full. it's smooth, it's powdery, it's beautiful. annick menardo is my goddess.

joemilleys

I've tried the EDP and the EDT. I really wanted to like both but couldn't get past the harsh oriental opening and the dry down that smells like a baby wipe.

I can say the EDP smells much more like baby powder than the EDT. The EDT was really on to something at the start until the drydown where it just reminded me of my toddler's diaper. This isn't something I want to smell like.

It's very unique and perhaps I'll try it again someday but this just simply isn't for me. I also do not recommend blind-buying this. Try to find a boutique fragrance store that specializes in perfumes and they'll likely have it.

team72

India scent, probably according to the India city Jaipur. Very nice, lasting min 18h, but a bit strong cinnamon, irritates me a little. Nevertheless, it is a uncomfortable hot sunshine and splendor. Very nice unique scent.
My Rating 9.3 / 10

Le Knows

Any discussion of Boucheron Jaipur Homme need only concern itself with one thing: Context. Specifically, when and where Jaipur is best suited. Take black tie, for example. While every man cuts a dashing figure in a Tuxedo, formal wear at McDonald's is clearly out of place. Likewise with Jaipur—a sumptuous oriental that would feel overdressed for pedestrian activities. Fit for a Sultan, Jaipur conjures up opulence and exotic luxury. It pairs well with silk robes, gold, rubies, Royal palaces... and yes, come to think of it—black-tie! Happy New Year, 2019!

grigoran1986

my review is on the EDT which i bought and have been wearing for a month now. it was a blind buy following the great reviews i had read on the net..unfortunately, i am unable to understand the hype. it has not grown on me and certainly cannot smell all the complexity this fragrance is supposed to have.
not a blind buy and certainly does not smell high quality to me

SeanAA

I'm going to provide a lot of detail here for those looking to find a very early bottle.

I'm still using the metal-clad, 3.4oz, EDP, new Tester bottle I purchased around 2003 in a mall with currently about 60% of the juice remaining. I just purchased a tester bottle on Ebay that looks identical, except it has the NY address on the sticker on the bottom of the bottle instead of Paris. They both state all of the fragrance notes in French first, then English on their backs below "TESTER". The glass is frosted all around the edges which is covered up when the metal case is on. Sadly the tester I purchased on Ebay has no metal case as mine has seen previous years of ignorant negligence on my bathroom sink, where I thought all fragrances belonged. It's a bit corroded.

Batch code; 3C02
Address on bottom label is "Boucheron Parfums 75002 Paris"
not the NY address I see on all others so far.
Mine must have been made in 2002, but I can't find any Jaipur batch codes I enter on CheckFresh.com or CheckCosmetic.net.
I even emailed Boucheron and they are the first company to refuse to help me identify my batch code in any way.

48 hours, 2 hot showers and 4 fragrances (Royall Muske, Encre Noir Sport, Robert Graham Valour, Penhaligon's Elixir) later, I can still detect Jaipur as the faintest of skin scents now that all else has faded.

I can only speak about the performance of the bottle I currently have and sometimes even 2 sprays, close up are too much. It's the most powerful, soft, powdery, spicy oriental I've smelled. I smelled it in someones car in 2003 and became so obsessed that I had to buy it so I could smell it any time I wanted. If you like Givenchy Pi and powerful orientals, I think you will love this.

Mrscent

Powdery, citrusy and clean scent...I love this juice!

My rates about Jaipur EDP goes as follows:
- Scent opening 10.0 (heavenly pleasant with splendorous citrus, spicy cardamom and flowers)
- Scent Dry Down 10.0 (unforgettable with sweet tonka and cinnamon, balsamic benzoin, hearthy patchouli and woods)
- Longevity 9.0 (up to 8~9 hours on my skin, with 2 sprays)
- Sillage 8.0 (sillage peeking up to 6 feet, projecting for more than 2 hours)
- Versatility 9.0 (quite versatile, expressing itself better in Spring and Fall, at ease in Winter days and in Summer nights)
- Usability 8.5 (it's really a "use it almost anywhere" fragrance, but avoid the gym, the seaside or any kind of sweating activities)
- Compliments 9.0 (This scent pleases genders. You will smell mysterious, elegant, clean, fresh and maybe sexy for some ladies)
- Uniqueness 9.0 (just its flankers and some vibes shared with a couple of more recent Amouage perfumes)
- Quality 9.5 (high quality ingredients; beautiful sturdy glass bottle; very good spray)
- Presentation 9.0 (Beautiful flask inspired by the famous astronomical garden conceived by Maharaja Jaï Singh II)
- Price 9.0 (€ 29 for a 100 ml non tester flask)

- Average: 9.09/10.00
between 7 and 8 => above average;
between 8 and 9 => recommended;
equal or bigger than 9 => don't miss it;

Opinion on "Jaipur EDP":
One of the most alluring oriental scents available for a very competitive price. A real masterpiece!
Recommended? Absolutely! I have both the EDP and the EDT. Both are recommended.
Blind buy worthy? Yes - Be bold!

Bought an EDP bottle a few days back, tried this today with a female friend:
B.NO:06H37H115

Presentation: 7/10
Box is very nice.Bottle has a very 'old school' vibe to it and it is not really impressive.I got the new version without the metal cladding.

Scent: 6/10
Smells strongly of cumarin, cinnamon and carnation. The smell gets better as time passes, with the peak an hour after the spray. My female friend commented that she didn't like this because it made her think of a serious old man in a suit.So i have to warn this is probably hard to pull off for the very young (under 30)and better suited for special occasions.

Sillage: 5/10
Sillage is average.Needs more than 3 sprays to hold its own in an outdoors setting.I expected more strength from the EDP version and i was slightly disappointed.

Longevity: 6/10
Longevity is mediocre, projection will last for a couple of hours and will then linger as a skin scent for a few more hours.

Overall rating: 6/10

Not blind buy safe.I do not recommend this for casual wear on young persons.I recommend this only for old school oriental perfume lovers.

Jaipur Homme Boucheron Eau de Parfum

The Mikly-Almond-Cinnamon-Vanilla-Floral-Combo..
That made me think of similarities with :
1 "Crema de Ducha".
2 Barber-Shaving foam
3 Something of Talc-Baby poweder mixed with cinnamon smell.
4 Dry milky soap.
5 Cinnamon Gum+Vanilla.

To my nose there is nothing ultra masculine or groundbreaking..
But its timeless for sure.

As a scent it's incredibly powedery-milky-soapy for my tastes..
I really dont know when I would wear this fragrance.

When I whiff it, I get something "cold" inside my nose
Im pretty sure, "this feel" comes from Vanilla Material almost like the Vanilla Bakery material powder.

To all Jaipur lovers, dont get me wrong,
I just feel Jaipur is a good (well blended Powdery fragrance) but not for me.

Rating 7/10 (In the best case, it does smell like Barber-Foam, but with INSANE (Milky-Vanilla-Powdery vibe)

jp2004

Just a fantastic perfume!
EDT is good but EDP is better.
I don't know somone (who i know) that wear this perfume.
It is a very special perfume.

Bought this for my husband a few Christmases ago and I just love it on him. He's a tough guy and very ruggedly handsome so there's just something about him smelling like spicy, cinnamon-y cookies that drives me crazy. Gorgeous scent A+++ I get cookies-gingerbread...with vanilla icing <3

This + Old Spice aftershave on me = heaven.

If a niche brand released this they would charge $300 + dollars for it.

I love this, not your typical mall scent

Boucheron Jaïpur EDT (didn't like edp much)
The best affordable manly scent there is, opens with cardamon and citrusses and turns into one of the best tart dry downs i've ever smelled.
in the same category of la nuit de l'homme but i like this one better for the distinguish dry down, one of the masterpieces of annick menardo, i just wish it was produced with better quality ingredients.

Aceborne

I was looking for it to try it for a long time and finally found it today in a trip to Andorra.

It smells very good and of good quality but unfortunately I found it too feminine for me.

I have perfumes that don't scream "macho" when wearing them, but definately don't cross "the line" to the feminine side neither. In my opinion, this one does.

smell_mapper

Impression: Alcoholic opener accompanied with drying astringency, sharp, not offensive. Spicy alcoholic develops and perfumy floral makes an appearance. Body matures thickly, almost cloying. A powdery calmness makes a final appearance and the aroma is revealed. Polarizing and misunderstood. Rewards the patient.

dinesh_mohan_194

Based on the reviews everybody gave this scent I tried it out. And... It was a surprise... It smell weird in the initial phase...but as it dry downs it smells good. Good Staying power, but never got an compliment though... lol

kunal vatyani

Not a blind buy.
Not for young.
Smells different than other perfumes.
To me I am not really a fan of this (blind bought)
Stays long
Projects good

Review is for EDP

chrisarcarola75

I blind bought the edp version, wore it once and gave it away. It's definitely a top quality designer and performance is amazing. To me it was just too sweet and powdery. I don't know when I would wear it. I can see how some love this but definitely not for lovers of masculine perfumes

TrephineArtist

I've just tested this (EDP) for the first time after reading/hearing good things about it.

Well, if I wanted a soapy-spicy, talcum powder like fragrance with great performance and a kind of old school vibe then this would be right up my street. However I'm not looking for that right now.

I've definitely smelled a similar scent at times growing up (before Jaipur was released), really reminds me of a particular soap too.

groovysilversurfer

I just found this as a set for only $35 at Marshall's so I blind-bought it. It included 100ml edp spray, after shave cream, and shower gel.

My short first impression is this: A barbershop oriental if that's even possible. If you like fragrances like Opium pour Homme and Histoires des Parfums 1725 then this is for you. I also get something 'Play-Doughy' underneath it all which is nice. I find this to be a very dandified and complex fragrance. Yes, there is a powdery (or 'dusty') note, so bear that in mind. But if you like the aforementioned 1725, then you will probably like this note.

It shows a different face on me depending on humidity and temperature, giving me something slightly different each time I wear it, which is something not many fragrances do on me. (Also a plus.)

russianGY

This is one of the best perfumes for men I've encountered. Ageless classic! I agree - it's not for any occasion and outfit.. nevertheless I surprisingly can picture pretty much any man - young, older, blonde, brunette - showing off this aroma; actually it would create unique individual images for different men.
When I wore it for the first time - I immediately wanted to put on something of bright colors and my gold ring with sapphire - gift from my mother.. I wouldn't want to be playfull and silly, go hiking, run errands smelling like this. This is for event where people would gather to exchange thoughts and opinions, for discussions, some celebration, bit of luxury (lots of luxury if you like).
It is definitely a profound benzoin fragrance. Lemony/spicy augmentation makes benzoin radiant and bright here, balancing, coloring and dispersing that powdery warm-n-soft aural affect that benzoin possesses.
"Oriental" motives here, for me, - an Arabian mosaic and not a Japanese kimono.
Very masculine. I can see some lady pulling it off with a bang, but man is the definite beneficiary.
Quality of this perfume -thus longevity- is remarkable.
Again - one of best available in its category.
5 stars on all qualifications for this perfume.

I own the EDT and EDP Jaipurs and they both smell great on my skin.
The EDP stays longer on my skin but the EDT performs better under the hot sun.
So on the day I'm in the mood for Jaipur, the EDT will be for the daytime (8-10 sprays), and the EDP will be for the evening (5-6 sprays).
They both are compliment getters on me.

I, too, found this powdery, like others have stated, yet I don't see a powder note listed. Wearing powdery frags invariably gives me a headache (as it did with Jaipur) so I avoid buying a frag with a listed powder note. I have seen another member elsewhere comment that florals and musk together will induce powdery notes, and I also look for this combination and stay away. I had high hopes for this since I generally like florals and am intrigued by orientals.

EDIT: Since my initial review above, I have come to a better appreciation for "powdery" or "dusty" scents: my olfactory palette has matured and has become more educated and refined. Having worn Jaipur extensively now in winter, spring, and summer, I find I really enjoy it. For me it is rather linear in its development. Sillage can be heavy the first hour, but then settles closer to the skin, which is fine with me since I'm stuck in the office and meetings all day.

Today my EdP arrived. Found a good offer (fathers day discount). Lovely scent, like it very much. I agree, this scent is mostly for fall/winter time, but....i think it will do it great, on a summer evening. Don't use to much.

Mine is the EDP.
Characteristic of Jaipur Homme, is how noticeable I am smelling a BLENDED fragrance. With many scents in my collection, the blended nature is not so obvious. Also, JH is such a well-blended orchestration of sweet spices.

Since there is no separate listing for the Jaipur Homme EDP...

PLEASE! Specify if your review is for the EDT or EDP (or both). In many of the prior reviews, it is not clear which version the reviewer is referring to- EDT or EDP.

-Thanks

The first spray is like face-planting into peppered baby powder, but it gets a lot more complex after thirty minutes or so. An hour or two later, the citrus, tonka and balsamic layer nicely over the warmth of the powder. I was really taken aback how it went from what I thought was a one trick pony into a really gorgeous fragrance.
It smells best after 3-4 hours on my skin and generally lasts for about 6-7 hours. Another reviewer noted the similarities between this and Shalimar and I completely agree.
I was surprised how much this scent grew on me and will keep it on-hand for colder nights.

This cologne falls in a rare "how not to test a cologne" category. Seeing that I started buying colognes in the 90s, it's hard to believe I never tried this one. So, I bought a bottle since it's available at a good price. The scent to me is exactly what you're expecting. It's a typical 90s cologne, light spices, some sweet and it lasts forever. The scent itself was projecting for 4 hours ... which is where my testing failed. I fell asleep and slept for 8 hours. When I woke up, I was engulfed in this strong, powdery scent. I didn't even realize at that moment that it was the Jaipur. I thought one of the kids had poured out a container of powder. Then, I stopped and smelled closer to see it was on me. Prior to the after-sleep smell, I really liked it but the waking up to a cloud of powder scent didn't really work for me. I tested it two more times and the heavy powder does seem to be the normal drydown for me. It's still good but I have two kids just a few years out of diapers, so the powdery part isn't always good for me. Still worth a bottle at the price you can get it for. Oh and mine is the EDP, it was $38.

If anybody smelt Boucheron Jaipur Homme and immediately thought it smelt "cheap" they may not be of the age to appreciate quality, or, they would have to have a defective nose.

This stuff, especially in EDP concentration is top, top quality in the designer world. This is outstanding on every level.

In my opinion, you'd mostly have to be a certain age to appreciate and enjoy this.

This is classy, not some sugary concoction brewed up in young crowd pleaser bottles.

Preferred this to Boucheron Pour Homme ,this is sweeter and less heady ,more of a woody dry down and softer !definitley recommend !

Smooth, Sweet, Spicy Oriental...

This is a very nice fragrance. I have the Eau de Parfum version. Jaipur is the first fragrance that I've tried from this house, and I'm very impressed.

I detect a mixture of cold and warm spices (including cinnamon). I also get a clove like note, which I think is the carnation mixed with a hint of cardamom. The spices here are blended so well with the powder, it's fantastic. You also get the myrrh, the amber, tonka bean and vanilla and it is extraordinary. This reminds me of Habit Rouge (more so the Eau de Parfum, as it has that Guerlain powdery vanilla vibe to it (Jacques Guerlain once said: "there is no good perfume without vanilla"). In that respect, I find Jaipur an exceptional men's fragrance. The quality here shines through. It's an Eau de Parfum for men launched at a time when that concept was very rare. It is probably a more formal perfume and would go well with evening events and events in cooler weather in general. I wear it casually as well as I love the smell so much.

Overall, I think if you are someone who considers themselves a "gentleman", and you appreciate well-made perfumery and fragrances for men, you should check this one out. This one isn't to be missed as the quality for the price (designer level) is very high here. One would'nt expect anything else from a talented perfumer such as Annick Mennardo the queen of myrrh, resins and balsams. A wonderful oriental composition in almost every sense of the word.

A modern classic.

I Watched Mr.smelly on you-tube and others and watched so many reviews and thougth to buy this so many times. I finally did and so happy for it.

You get a well blended fragrance with quality far above the discounted prices. Another Gentleman's Holy Grails like Bentley intense.

You get the rose, resin, woods, vanilla, cinnamon, and a sense of frankincense. It manages to be complex, classy, and not too dark and not too bright. I even get the feel of cognac at times.

Overall you get a luxurious scent that smells like money for 6 to 8 hours with moderate projection.

I got the EDT and it is a 5 out of 5 and highly suggested for the 25 plus man.

While the composition is classified as an Oriental Spicy ... 'Oriental Gourmand' is really more accurate. It is beautiful in much the same way as heavy-hitter Opium Pour Homme ... however just as with OPH, I find myself missing and wanting more 'woods.' Jaipur lists cedar but I don't detect it as the heavy vanilla-ish Benzoin takes center stage and can get cloying even well into the drydown. The sweet character is pleasant enough but seems to be dancing a tad too much on its own.

I make a mental comparison every time to Lalique Pour Homme (Lion) which I actually prefer for the gorgeous harmony between its vanilla, florals, cedar and sandalwood. ... while JH remains a creamy vanilla/cinnamon gourmand throughout. I envision appreciating Jaipur while celebrating winter festivities with loved ones in a scenic and remote ski chalet in Austria ... with a huge crackling fireplace and home-made ginger snaps and eggnog for all ... Enjoy :)

I disagree with those saying this smells like an old man. It's really not that masculine to my nose. Yes, some of the spices are reminiscent of old, masculine fragrances, but Jaipur Homme is lacking any distinctly masculine notes like oakmoss, vetiver, etc. For me, this is basically a spicy, light, and airy gourmand (at least the EDT is). I also find it to be unisex. This is not a crowd pleaser in the sense that it's very cologne-y or perfume-y. It smells like nothing else, but it still smells undeniably good. This basically smells like an Indian inspired bake sale is wafting towards you on a windy day. So much depth but somehow still airy. Great stuff.

This is a review for the EdT.

This fragrance has so much going for it that it's the only one from my collection that I'm planning on getting a back up bottle of.

I'll unabashedly say that I LOVE the smell of Old Spice - it is reminiscent of my father's shaving kit and the canned Old Spice 'Original' deo which was one of the first 'perfumes' I owned. To my nose, Jaipur Homme is sweet, vanillic, tonka-ish, sophisticated Old Spice. I strangely don't get much of the supposedly huge cinnamon note - it's probably because I'm from India and I'm used to a much more different smelling variety of cinnamon. What I do get for certain is the Benzoin and Tonka, and just a thin sprinkling of cinnamon on top. The overall sweetness comes through in a very pleasant manner.

The beautiful scent character is complemented by brilliant performance. Longevity wise let me say that I sprayed it on at 7:30 AM, went to work (a 1.5 hr one way commute) and here I am, sitting at home at 11 PM, still getting whiffs of it. At the same time, it's not an annoying projection monster but projects at a level that's totally perfect.

While the scent character might seem a little dated to some people, personally, if I was into ratings, I'd not shy away from giving this full marks.

I tried to love this, then like it, then appreciate it. I succeeded only in appreciating. I thought it would be something I would enjoy, but the dry, powdery quality of the spices make Jaipur smell like an old style woman’s perfume to me. It is daring, different, and dated. I traded it.

I grew up in a family with a Dad and Grandpa that wore old spice after shave. Everytime I wear this it instantly reminds me of old spice but in a much much more sophisticated way. The initial opening is pleasant but just a little harsh. A few minutes after application the notes really begin to bloom but it is so we'll blended it is hard to pinpoint anything but exotic sweet smelling spices. After an hour or so the spiceness calms down and a creamy vanilla begins to appear. This is the point when this scent is pure heaven. I love this scent and will always have it on hand for the cooler months. Do not buy this scent if you just want to smell like everyone else! But for the true fragrance fantastic this is a must have for the collection.

Grand.perfumery

It's an oldschool men's fragrance afterall, women won't get that unisex-undecided, woman-pretending-to-be-a-man kinda fragrance from this old gentleman from Switzerland. Uh-uh, nope. Don't bother trying it, ladies.

I have this Parfums de Joaillerie edition (first picture) in my collection, and dying to try it...but I won't, gonna stick to the regular one. It's missing from the interwebs, no information whatsoever.
To regular EDT: I personally love it! I miss fragrances like this one. Too bad, if I'd want something like this one, I'll have to look between (often) overpriced niche perfumery brands for something similar.

dkroonen

Masculine old man’s scent.
