Insolence Eau de Parfum by Guerlain is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Insolence Eau de Parfum was launched in 2008. Insolence Eau de Parfum was created by Sylvaine Delacourte and Maurice Roucel. Top note is Red Berries; middle notes are Violet, Iris and African Orange Flower; base notes are Tonka Bean, Sandalwood and Woodsy Notes.

Insolence Eau de Parfum arrives as more intensive, intoxicating and magical than its antecedent Insolence Eau de Toillete. It features a new colour of the bottle which stands for intoxicating scents hiding inside it. The dark and seductive bottle is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP.

The composition is similar: accentuated iris and endlessly seductive violets which are set in the very heart of the perfume. The perfume was created for an eccentric and chic woman, who thrives for perfection.

Strong projection and long lasting. Very feminine purple bouquet. Magical radiance yet natural flowers. A little creamy, soft and the flowers blend so well. Truly a work of art.

CrisMS

Used to be a love for me back in the day. Violet centered, powdery and has a bit of a marzipany kick from the tonka. It's like wearing a bouquet of purple flowers. Nowadays, I still appreciate the smell, but don't like wearing it myself. This EDP version in the beautiful bottle was sadly discontinued, I still have mine that's gone bad, but keep it for the bottle.
The perfume in the newer bottles are heavily reformulated, only a reminder of what it used to be, not to mention performance sucks.
Guerlain is going down the drain for me

Gruhlanska96

amazing ❤️

Oh, how lovely and nostalgic! A bouquet of violets picked from a forest near Parma, Italy. When it was first launched, I tested it and I was told it was created to be linear, in order to keep the violets till the end. And it's true! It wouldn't change that much till the end! The longevity and the sillage were phenomenal! A spectacular fragrance, ideal for the violet lovers!

Gruhlanska96

So freaking amazing fragrance, it brings me back to drops that were sold back in the days. I'm loving it soon much 💜

The13thHour

Insolence is something special. It is violet done right without it being vintage. It's sweet, floral and powdery. It's not at all baby powder-like and it's very alluring.

Rosiewebber

This is It for me. This is The One. As soon as I smelt it I knew. I’ve always loved violet scents, and this is the ultimate violet. Instant favourite, holy grail, my signature scent.
It’s strong candied violets, sweet berries, powdery perfection. I’m in love.

Beacon631

This is my favorite fragrance. Don’t spray too much. A little bit goes a long way. This is not subtle. The mix of overwhelming florals and powder scream for attention. Fiercely feminine. I love the silage. Most fragrances wear off quickly but not this. It’s modern and different. Wear on vacation or a night out. This is what perfume is supposed to smell like.

nyrvelli

One of my favorites! Smells elegant, unusual and refined. It's also time travel in a bottle, very nostalgic.

mzfiguer

Love spraying it after taking a shower -is that an odd thing to do?

cooleo

my little sister has a doll whose hair smells EXACTLY like this

Yukarin

In case some of you wanted to know this perfume as a fictional character, you can google "Yukari Yakumo".

extremely image of a purple color in the sky, she is a woman with mystery and enigma. charming and playful despite how devious she can be. she wears extravagant dresses and, as equal as extravagant appearance, the brain of a genius. the perfume is a femme fatale in a bottle but there is an eccentric combination of Violet-Red Berries combo which make her "approachable".

this perfume is indeed "purple"

Perfumeholic92

It’s my signature scent ٫its Mysterious and rebellious a heart conquer perfume it’s heads turner perfume it’s soft powdery but strong and very feminine and the silage and longevity great and I’m talking about the old bottle I don’t know if they reformulated the new one (new bottle ) because I still having two of this one in old bottle Iam so scared to buy the new one because I will be very very disappointed and sad if they did ,
I guess I should collect the old bottle ones every time I encounter one just in case .

Brutality of Violets ★★★★★

Insolence is perhaps the mostly aptly named perfume in history as this concoction of something both very beautiful and abominable takes absolutely no prisoners. Zero. Nada. Insolence has by far the most outrageous opening I’ve yet to discover and one can only marvel at its distilled audacity spreading through rooms with a scent only describable as an olfactory equivalent of an eye-wateringly blinding neon sign visible up to outer space and beyond. The acidic sweet fruitiness with the gargantuan chorus of ionones almost numbs my nose with their sheer power yet the structure always remains controlled and undistorted even up close, which can only be explained by Roucel’s talent and skill. I can imagine the metallic raspberry of Cartier's Baiser Fou being partly inspired by this work and strongly suggest it to those searching for something similar. In terms of loud floral style, I could also equate Insolence being the purple counterpart to the yellow of Amarige.

Takes some hours until things get more civil, but underneath all that unadulterated drama awaits a somber sandalwood-incense paired with the classic rose-iris combo all while shifted surprisingly oriental via a white floral note. In fact, the drydown comes surprisingly close to the melancholic purple aura of LouLou! The drydown of my vintage LouLou is extremely syrupy dense and it’s an utter joy to smell Insolence achieve the same beauty and power with a more modern, clear and ethereal composition. Amazingly, Insolence is therefore simulatenously "more is more" in terms of style but "less is more" in terms of formula ingredients. There is no equal to Insolence on the market even today, but I have sympathy to those who find it too much and hard to wear. My mother wore the EDT for a while, and I absolutely despised its scent and sheer force at the time. However, the more balanced EDP formula has finally shown me the true beauty of the perfumer's idea. I also own the pure perfume, which is much tamer and simpler emphasizing a beautiful iris note, but much like the EDT, fails to embody the full-fleshed personality achieved in the EDP.

This review was based on the disc shaped bottle pictured above. I did sample the newest version in a duty-free and found it absolutely wonderful but I’m unable to compare the two versions from memory. In any case, Insolence is yet another Roucel masterpiece and feels much at home with his other greats like Envy, Missoni and Tocade.

Who doesn't like the high projection and fixation gourmand bombs, flee to the hills without a brief thought back from Insolence EDP, as this one is a sweet elixir of merciless overpowering for those who submit to it! Guerlain had no mercy, it was not the idea here!

The way out is to enter a luxury vintage doll shop, on the 3rd floor of an upscale shopping mall where the people who frequent that place are elegant, well dressed and highly educated; that's what the output of this fragrance consists of for me, a plastic odor of millionaire children's dolls, with value-added doll hair and their minimalist clothes!

His drydown consists of a conventional children's birthday, themed: "In the Paradise of Jelly beans and Caramels", in which the cake emanates such a sweet and prominent odor that anyone who passes in the next block can identify its sweetness! In the environment, everything is decorated in lilac and purple, which reverberate nuances of Violets, combining with the graceful sweet tone of the party.

At the end, in the fragrance, it is noticeable the adults who initially went to the mall, and then to the children's birthday, going back home, taking on their clothes and hair, a sweet and addictive smell of Vanilla essence present in the foods of that place, but the resin of an unripe Tonka, but young, milky!

Daydream by daydream, this is how Guerlain's Insolence EDP behaves on my skin and nose!

As a man, this was the best fragrance I've ever smelled on a woman. Purely mesmerizing, huge sillage, wonderful

Ivanqa

Ahh.. one of my favourites. Super feminine with a great projection. You'll be wrapped in a comforting violet and raspberry cloud that is youthful yet mature. And there's that Guerlain something special that makes it oh so luxurious.
I'M INTERESTED TO BUY A SHOWER GEL AND/OR BODY MILK FROM THE INSOLENCE RANGE. DROP ME A MESSAGE PLS.

Candied violets with a shot of Hawaiian Punch. I cannot decide if I love or loathe this, and it is not my usual style of fragrance (dry green cyprees like Chanel 19). It is BIG, which is odd given that Apres L'Ondee is Insolence's DNA grandmother (and I love Apres L'Ondee...) Not a safe blind buy, except for violet lovers, and please, go easy on the sprayer! It lasts forever, and the dry-down is lovely. I have the EDP in the spinning plate bottle.

Tinabill

Lady Iris, of noble & regal descent, possessing ethereal beauty and an aloof & a bit cold character, somehow fell in love with the more down to earth, warm and sweet charactered Mr Violet. Their teenage daughter carries all these characters but to their surprise she’s loud. They call her attitude insolent, but she’s far from it. Yes she’s loud but she’s a good mannered Guerlain breed after all.
She starts her day vibrant and fresh, with nuances of green, but is still very sweet; she puts a smile on the face of everyone who meets her, due to her loud morning greetings and bubbly attitude. By midday she’s more of an elegant lady, with charming powdery makeup on and a classy strong attitude. Towards the night she shows a little bit darker and deeper side (tonka and woods) yet in a delicate manner. She’s more quiet and soft now with an added allure.
You’re enamored by how strong and intricate her character is, but most of all that she stuck with you all day long.

Jloveparfum

This is wonderful elegant, insolent and daring perfume. A cocktail of Iris, violets and raspberries! And its nuances of dusty smells!

💜 This Guerlain beauty opens brightly, red berries combined with a bouquet of very sweet and powdery flowers.
Definitely here the absolute of Iris and Violets are the protagonists, providing that clean, fresh, sweet and dusty touch of great opulence, elegance and sensuality. Merging into a creamy wood base.
Insolence is an intense and very feminine fragrance.

The substantivity in my skin is more than 10 hours with diffusion and Sillage from strong to moderate.

janinedello

I have owned Insolence in the purple bottle for many years. I leave it in the guest powder room because it looks so beautiful on the shelf! I am a huge fan of any perfume with a strong violet presence. I remember picking violets as a young girl from our garden and sniffing them all day. After coming across this post again, I sprayed Insolence on my wrist and on my pyjama top. Still in love with it, and in the morning I could still smell it on my skin. I wear perfume for myself at home most days, alternating between favourites and the perfumes I wouldn’t wear out. This one is now back in my ‘favourites’ list.

nguyenvuhungvuong

Hope they bring back this beautiful bottle. Love the old scent and old bottle

churinl

It's been ages since I've worn this and I remembered just how much I LOVE it. Was thinking of purchasing a back up of this and the EDT in the original bottles which are so cool, and I just can not believe the price they are going for on Ebay. So it looks like I'll need to purchase a new version and use what I have left when a real statement is called for. Most consider this a winter fragrance, but I am fine with wearing it in the springtime!

Anamandy - I'm wondering if it's less an error on LT's side (TUBEROSE?? No way!!), and more likely an editing issue. If not, I'd say it's time for him to retire! 😉

Beautiful fruity violet

Anamandy

I just read in Luca Turin’s The Guide, his description of this fragrance. He describes it as an accord of tuberose, red fruit, orange blossom, and a green peppery Poeme type note.

What?????

I’m no expert, nor do I claim to be, but is LT smelling the same fragrance I am? Or did he get it mixed up with something else? This is not the first time I've found discrepancies in what he says are the notes in a fragrance, and what the actual notes are, so I'm beginning to view his reviews with skepticism. I smell the notes listed, primarily berries, violets, powdery iris, and tonka, which is adding a light vanilla note. I don’t pick up the woody notes or the African orange flower listed here, but this is a well-blended, well-made fragrance so I am not surprised those notes don’t stand out to me. But I certainly don’t get tuberose, and this doesn’t even remotely resemble Poeme, pepperiness or otherwise. His description doesn't even fit the reformulated bee bottle. I will give Mr. Turin the benefit of the doubt and assume he must have been having a bad day when he wrote that, though I can’t be as forgiving for his trashing my beloved Insolence eau de toilette. But even there, I think he got it wrong.

Efrosini

Does anyone have this bottle? I am running out and I can’t find it anymore! Please pm me

ali9021

I have the original flying-saucer looking bottle that holds the EDP as the picture above suggests. I can only review that scent as its the only one i have smelled and owned.

Let me start by saying this will always be in my top 10 for life. Is it polarizing? YES I think so. Not everyone loves violet and you must love violet to love Insolence. Its a punch in the face of ultra violet violet on steroids and LSD. You get the point and that intial spray is over the top. This perfume is not shy, this is an intense powerhouse of clean dry cold antiseptic voilet combined with woody tonka bean and hairspray chemical intoxication.

Sounds tough and it is.... but the drydown is where the magic happens. The violet turns sweet and powdery combined with the woody tonka to form a fantasy cloud of light pink and purple pixie dust

Its niche quality with a great price. It also lasts forever and sillage is intense. You certainly get more than what you paid for.

Perfection in a bottle

mytrueessense

The EDP is more rounded and sophisticated by far. I have owned two bottles, one when it was first introduced in 2008 and another in 2010. For me the best Violet perfume with Rose I have tried so far. I just ordered Mancera Gold Aoud Intensitive and hoping this niche fragrance will be my next love.

amelia.g

Review from a 2017 bottle (probably one of the last batches in the original packaging).

Insolence is the most unabashedly feminine scent I've ever tried. To me, the candiet violet + powder combo translates as a mix of sugared gummy candy and nail polish dryer spray. Frankly, it's the EXACT smell you get when entering a high end hair/nails salon, and I understand that might put some people off.

It's also, probably because of the big loud candy opening, a perfume that strikes me as very "young". It's bright, playful and has personality to spare. Excellent longevity on my skin (about 10hrs), and good projection too - it's best to apply with a light hand, otherwise it could get very cloying (the sweetness persists until the far drydown, when it turns into a soft powdery skin scent).

I appreciate having it in my collection, but the 30ml bottle I have is probably going to last me a lifetime, because I find it so overtly girly that I have to be in a very specific mood to wear it. I'd say it's a good bet for those who like their violet sweet and ultra feminine.

ceeceelee

Slightly deeper and creamier in it's dry down vs the new bee bottle. I get a little wood after about an hour, but the creamy is nice. I will say that the differences are so slight I'm not sure that hunting down that drunken little violet topped bottle is worth it. I have EdP's in both bottles. If you like sweet, powdery violets with great longevity, either one is gorgeous. I love it bc it's not one that I smell on others a lot. Not that I mind that, I don't, but one time when Coco Mademoiselle came out, I got in an elevator and I swear every person was wearing that scent, lol. I try and switch it up everyday now.

Jacklyn's Perfumery

Heavenly but be warned this beauty is so strong. I have the original formulation of this in the purple fountain shaped bottle and I couldn't appreciate it as much years ago as I can now. There is a certain hairspray shampoo like note in this for just only the first 3-5 seconds when you spray it but when you get past that this is one of the strongest, sweetest violet fragrances I have ever smelled and it smells so good. It begins clean and sweet and is bold and lasts forever.

lyka

mon parfum préféré, le meilleur de tous, violettes et iris en têtes et notes de fruits rouges, j'ai essayé de nombreux parfums à base de violette et il demeure le meilleur pour moi; poudré mais pas écoeurant, très élégant

clintjr82

I blind bought this for my mother, a tester, and surprisingly she loved this out of the 5 bottles of fragrances I bought for her. Smells like clean and fresh violets with some vanilla. Shocked me because she doesn't like powdery fragrances. 3.4oz for $35 is a steal.

StarMagix

This fragrance has been one of my signature scents for many, many years. I always wore the Insolence EDT until the Insolence EDP come out. Oh how much I love the EDP over the EDT. The EDT is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but the EDP is so much more rich in all of it's notes. I love wearing it. It last forever on me and my clothes, and it projects a very long way. One of my friends always told me, she knew it was me, as I walked down the long building to my station, because she could smell my perfume. Got to love that.

bluesunshine

My Grandmother wore a perfume called Devon Violets & violet was her favorite flower so naturally my first association with Insolence EDP was her upon first sniff. That doesn't mean I find it dated or grandmotherly. Just vivid & fond memories of the smell of violets.

This is a blast of violets tempered with a soapy iris & very light sandalwood base. I get a bit of the red berries note listed. Also reminds of a classic men's hair dressing called Tres Flores. Not something I will reach for often, but lovely & nostalgic nonetheless.

UPDATE: More wearable & enjoyable toward the dry down!

Very happy with this purchase!

locknotes06

Happy I am so happy to have this acquisition on my the palm of my hands.

I remember testing this out in the store a few years ago and I hated how it echoed nothing but the slowly burning tupperware.Mila Le Blanc was precise in her description of this as being an obnoxious perfume. It was on the very first test.Especially if you have not been acquainted to the smell of a homogenous concoction of strong iris and violets. But after a few weeks after that test back in 2017,I smelt it again in a hotel.A lovely woman,so clean and classy as she strutted her way through the premises, filled the smell of a familiar scent that repelled me a few weeks prior.I wanted it and I desperately wanted it added to my collection but it was too expensive and I didn't have the budget to purchase it since I've just recently purchase Thierry Mugler's Alien.

I am so delighted I have this funny but cute bottle. It is extremely similar to the EDT.So there's no need on having both.

The only noticeable difference between the two is that, the EDT has the sparkling and fizzy quality. It is the glistening water in spring on rivers and lakes. The EDP on the otherhand is indeed deeper and sensual and mysterious to it's true hidden characteristics. It still retains that the rich wet powder and heavy floral soliflore qualities the EDT has.You have to wear each, under different weather, climate and time, and find the perfect time to wear it for you to be able to appreciate it in it's full glory.

Insolence is something everyone should atleast experience once in their lifetime. It is like the Chanel No.5,or even the Shalimar of the 21st Century alongside TF Black Orchid,MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 and the great likes.

This difference is quite minute.Undetectable to the olfactory senses of the unkeen noses.

The only thing that saddens me is I only have the 30ml bottle.

ladyofwinter

My first couple of bottles were of this formulation, and I love the new one too. The difference is almost undetectable, sillage and longevity are the same as before (so long lasting). Powder, Iris and Violet - perfect comforting daytime winter perfume. I start using it in November and always wear it during Christmas ❄️

Ninlil

I love Insolence EDP, it smells sweet yet sophisticated, my powdery violet trip to heaven. I haven’t tried the EDT yet so I can’t compare. I wear this one for myself, and don’t think it’s a crowd pleaser. When I wear it my husband always asks “are you wearing that violet one again?” in a pleased but slightly exasperated manner :) try before buying

lavender_wind.

Obtain a small bottle because of Mila Le Blanc's video... Unfortunately I'm totally disappointed. It does not have any of the "juicy berry" note I was hoping for. Instead, it hit me at the head with a mega dose of artificial smelling violet and plastic-like white flowers.

This is not a safe blind buy. Rating: 2/5. The bee bottle and the pretty violet color of the juice are the only redeeming qualities of this perfume.

Finally, please note perfume tastes are personal. I prefer juicy fruit, berry, and citrus notes and am not into violet per se. Someone else might totally enjoy this product.

ps. I'm currently tolerating this perfume by layering it with a natural citrusy perfume, Honore's trip by Honore de pres, Paris.

Venusia

I had the first version and I loved it from the start. Gorgeous iris-violet-combo on a rich tonka-woody base. A slight sweetness more floral to me while I don't get the berries at all. It is one of the scents that will always be in my collection. These year I bought a bee bottle as the reviews on it caught my attention. There is a little but recognisable difference: this one isn't that powdery anymore and has less tonka whereby more sandalwood (and I like it even more in this form), I still don't get berries... better so. It isn't so loud but still very obvious and longevity lays by 12 hours on me. Lovely potion!

herbwitch

I love this. I have tried the edp, the edt in both the floral top bottle and the bee bottle. I agree that the new bottle juice is weaker. And I find the edt to be brighter and crisper in feel. There is something I adore about this scent in all its forms. There is a note in the middle that is fleeting and not listed, incense. Is there another juice that has this note but as the main scent? It is slightly sweet, Smokey, resinous. I wear this just for that note. I love violets and that is a plus but the incense is divine.

Anamandy

I have both the original formula edt and edp. They are almost identical, but what distinguishes the edt from the edp are two minor things. Density and composition. While the edt has nuclear silage and longevity compared to the edp, it seems to be airier and fresher. I've described the density as that of a fruitade. The edp is denser and heavier, and will probably work better in the colder weather than when I wore it a few weeks ago. If I didn't use a light hand it might have become cloying in the heat. While both have berries, I am not picking up raspberries in the edp as I am in the edt. Other than that, the differences are so minor that only if you are really trying to pick up the notes will it become apparent. It certainly fooled me when I first got the edp after having the edt for some time. I thought the seller sent me the wrong item, despite the packaging. I even contacted a fellow fragrance friend here to find out if she could tell me the difference. She also thought they smelled very similar to each other. It is only when I did a side by side that I was able to tell the very minor differences. For that reason I think if a person has one they could probably do without the other.

My personal preference is for the edt, as I find it more versatile and wearable in all seasons. I also love that raspberry note. But, no matter what you choose both are wonderful scents that are sure to please lovers of violets and berries. Strangely, I'm honestly not in either camp, yet I adore this. Go figure!

Scentflower

I have the bee bottle of both the edt and edp. I bought the edp after loving the edt and heard the edp was darker. After trying both and spraying on each arm I get no difference between the edt and edp. Both smell the same to me. Thats completely ok, I love them both. Now I just have a backup up bottle. Hope that helps for anyone choosing between the edp and etd like I was.

Listen

I don’t like powdery or soapy/clean or floral

But

Tell your nose to grow

Keep with it

Try it for a few days at various developmental stages

This is queenly, comforting, beautiful

Just keep trying it and don’t have expectations

I blind bought this and it was such a good thing to not expect anything and be set to appreciate it

You might fall in love like I did

Also blind bought the EDT and YES slightly different but the difference makes all the difference n worth getting it too

Kashaboo

This is flower power at its best and a must have for violet lovers. It has other flowers too and sandalwood and tonka beans, but to me, the scent of violets is front and center. I have the EdP and it is a strong scent. But, I like it. It smells young and vigorous and makes me happy. I will purchase the EdT as well, just for comparison.

Advaitaforever

This is lovely, the initially burst is exactly like a mouthful of Parma violet sweets. It’s playful, uber-feminine and elegant. This is such a versatile scent and I’m sure it could work in any occasion, season etc. I would prefer for it to have a greater projection but it’s a great addition nonetheless.

Ranya

@aqua kiss - not even 1% similarity.
@Tamsos valdove - considering the re-re-reformulated edition, now in the bee bottle, yes - hairspray, plastic under the sun and some synthetic violets wannabe. Try the original bottle & formulation. You will see the differences.

churinl

I put this on today for the first time in ages!! I'm not sure why it took me so long to get to it again, because I love it. I guess that I am trying to preserve what's left in my "flying saucer" bottle before having to face whatever reformulation awaits me in the bee bottle! While it's so clearly violet, violet, violet, iris, violet, it still smells so much greater than the sum of it's parts. In classic Guerlain style, it's really seamless, and the notes combine in such a way that the result isn't like anything one would find in nature. It's Insolence, and if you are looking for a bold fragrance that smells like violets from a dream, then here's your girl. While I see no reason to layer it with anything else, I sprayed some Rochas Tocade on top once the dry down began with delightful results.
A fellow Fragrantician and friend of mine encourages me to try the EDT as well. Though I am TRYING to hold off on anymore purchases at least until the end of the year, I just might have to do so!

PS - Just ordered it. Just can't help myself!!

igalmusic

I like edp version but I feel lile edt version it's more unique. This is more powdery more floral, but edt it's juicier because of raspberry notes. And I feel like edt it's longer lasting as well. Still I love you Insolence! Always and forever in my collection💜

bolla2909

Today received a box full of blind buys (yes, I love blind buys and today has been fun) and amongst them I got Insolence eau de parfum. I've repeatedly seen it popping up in suggestions here on Fragrantica, and after reading Luca Turin's review, I really had to try it out.

What's there to say? The purple color matches the scent perfectly. This is all violets. It's beautiful. For the first hour the violets are almost all I can smell but as it goes through the stages I get the berries and tonka beans. The most amazing part is that even in the drydown, you still get the violets. The heart and base are very Guerlainesque, creamy and complex and high quality.
I'm not a fan of Insolence for myself though, it really doesn't sit well with me but I can very much appreciate it for what it is, a well made violet fragrance. Besides, when I sprayed it on my arm all I could think of was my sister in law. In my opinion she embodies this scent. She has long brown hair and delicate features, she's very classy and has a soft and a warm presence, but with a slight edge. She's neither boring or plain, even if she isn't loud or opinionated. She's reserved but has a funky side. I feel Insolence would suit her perfectly because it shares the same delicate persona, who is also up for a good time.

Even if I did love it on myself I think I'd still pass it on to her because I'm pretty sure she'll love it and that it will suit her way better than me. I'm going to stash it away until Christmas and then put it in with her gift as a little extra treat.

Insolence truly is beautiful and I can see why it's talked about a lot. If you love violets in a fragrance, this is a no brainer for you.

dglightblue

Insolence, I have the half orb with floral lid.
It’s got a big sillage esp for the first half hour or more.
The purple florals with the rounded warming Tonka are what I get the most. She doesn’t feel like a woody one.
I was going to say it had big white rounded creamy non garden-y florals which were almost too matured in the vase, but on looking at the notes it’s the purples plus Tonka maybe the African white floral mentioned in notes not sure... there is a weird note like I said.. (matured banana yet not fruity, could it be over the top bubble gum but non gourmand tuberosee?) but something very rich like heavy thick white floral. Not yuck but intense, if you’re not used to that or have an experienced nose (mines not that experienced) it will be a shocker. Remember it’s a clean yet deep floral but not the fresh-flowers-green ish garden-florist shop floral.
That notes goes and you’re left with a perfectly guerlainade pretty clean and rounded purple floral with powdery edges. It’s not dry, there’s almost a delicate thickness remaining.
Nice

Autumn test, skin.

There are so many great reviewers on this site that I am not going to review the scent itself ... what can I say? Guerlain? Parma violets? Lasts forever? Purple. Brilliant! I will tell you a story about this perfume instead.

Two years ago, I was sitting waiting for a friend at the bar in an Italian restaurant. There was a woman at the bar a few seats down talking on the phone, loudly. You know the kind of environment where someone shouldn't be on the phone? This is a smooth jazz, martini kind of place. She was really harshing the ambiance. When my friend came in, I got up and hugged her. The other woman hung up her phone and approached us. "Excuse me. Can you please tell me what perfume you are wearing? That is such a fresh, happy scent. All my problems went right out of my head." Yep, I was wearing Insolence EDP. It soothes the savage beast ... or in this case, a stressed out real estate agent :)

Insolence will announce itself if you hug someone, get up to dance, wave, etc., but it doesn't precede you into the room. It wafts gently around you. I have not tried the EDT but if I can find a good price on that one I will pick one of those up to and compare the formulations. If you love violets and Guerlain scents in general, I believe this is a safe blind buy.

Happy Spring, such as it is :) Please stay safe and well.

I judged this one poorly last year after i received a sample. All i could smell was an intense grape candy. I received an other sample along with a purchase and i changed my mind.
An intense sultry dark violet. Very sweet and natural smelling. It's not up my alley, but i can't deny that it smells unique, especially after it settles in your skin for a good 10 mins. Great for a special date. Must be complimented with a stunning outfit too. I will save this sample for a nice cold evening out.

Tamsos valdove

For me it was such a disappointment. Smelled like a strong hairspray with killer violet/iris smell. Almost gave me dyspnea.

nataschav

Funny, but this scent is what I always imagined Chanel No 5 would smell like when someone described that scent to me. A decade and a half later I have learned that No 5 is a disappointment on my skin (I really wanted to love it), and due to the lady behind the counter I found this gem. I. Am. In. Love. It smells sophisticated, expensive and powdery but it is not shy in the least bit. it projects well beyond an arm's length, but it is not overpowering. I don't get a lot of violet from it, on my skin it evolves into a sweet, but not gourmand at all, white floral scent with a touch of vanilla and some vague anise/liquorice wayyyy in the back. All in all, winner.

i bought this fragrance years ago, and did never use it, till yesterday i did put it on before i went to my work, one spray on the top part of my back, the sillage is enormous 12 hours max, and all the day i did smell a lovely wife of this parfum, for me it is the bigger sister of l'heure de nuit. that one is way softer, to wear,

i did enjoy yesterday with wearing it, gues that many years ago, it did not fit me yet, but never did sold my bottle, when i was in town yesterday, i though, i wil grab a sample from the bee bottle edp version, and still you do smell the insolence , not that loud and not that bold, and for sure not that same sillage what i had yesterday, am 4 hours away now, and it is so diluted or water down, comparing to the original.. for people who can't stand bold perfume this wil be a great option. but one spray comparing to 4 spray;s of the latest one.. thats brrr in my eyes similar with vol de nuit, and jicky.. the bee bottles are less potent, and less in sillage, all are watert down, i have no idea why, could it be a marketing issue, perhaps, (more spray's is a empty bottle sooner ?_ instead of one spray from the older versions :)

i can recommend to buy the bee bottle if you like water down fragrances and still have the guerlain smell after it, just be away to spray it more than a original,
if you like the real deal this is absoluut a winner.. a pretty warm full frangance.

Fizzy

The juice in the new bee bottle, you know - the same bottle for all Guerlains fragrances, is much emptier (not dense at all and not rich at all) and lasts much shorter than the juice in the "dishes" bottle. How can this happen? This is such a difference, it is so obvious!

bodnerrachel

Love this perfume! It's a soft, delicate violet fragrance with a splash of berries and a touch of orange flower. It's almost like a body mist, but with that Guerlinade twist of tonka beans and sandalwood to make it classy. It's hard to describe, other than it's delicious, girlish, and feminine. If perfume had a color this one would be PURPLE, for violet, iris, grapes, and raspberries.

schneeblume

Just tested a bee bottle version at a shop and the projection and lasting power are enormous. My jacket touched my hand where I sprayed it and still projects after days. The smell of my hand survived a shower. The sweet berries stay close to the skin, while the sillage is a creamy, sweet violet cloud, reminding me a little of the coziness of Poison Girl. This is very loud!

Sherine777

I keep re-reading the comments and I'm really disappointed in my bottle, the massive performance is no where to be found with the Bee Bottle (production 4-2018) :(
I even sprayed it on my cloths but still I have to press my nose to be able to smell it.

Very sad how Guerlain water down their oldies this way!!
The same applies for all the bee bottles I have.

The ones that are truly performant are the newer ones who haven't been massacred yet, LPRN, Mon Guerlain..

SAD..SAD..SAD..

marmalady

I really hoped this was the violet perfume that was going to win me over, but alas it's not and it's actually my least favorite yet. The problem with violet is, that it's a scent that once it became associated with perfume, and smelling good and clean and floral and feminine, it became widely used in many personal care products. Laundry detergent, soaps, toilet paper and facial tissues (Kleenex), and the one that sticks with me most... feminine hygiene products. Yes, scented tampons and pads are heavily violet scented. Not a great scent association. The berries in this don't help, they make it worse actually. They just make it smell like a more modern take on scented tampon. Needless to say this is not for me, I'll be selling my bottle.

Ninasknows

This smells exactly like Parma violets candies. It’s not an unpleasant smell but far too sweet and powdery for my taste

dglightblue

The tester for this scent shares the purple juice of the edp but I don’t really know which scent it is, whether edt or edp... purple juice anyhow.
The bottles for sale are in the uniformed new bottles that all the guerlain are turning into, not the half sphere.
**this tester did not have a lid, nor a square box with the metallic looking Sun rays to go from, only had the newer shaped versions to buy

Smells to me like a fleshy white flower, with powder about the edges, a smidge of sweet dusky powder too, ...sorta kinda like Lancôme poeme... sorta I’m going from memory.

Rounded, rich, a little dusky powdery, white flowers, (not a garden fresh scent at all) ..could be tuberose or gardenia, you know that sweet white floral smell one of them has...

That creamyness that champ élysées has, but not cool like that one, insolence is warmer and creamy.

**I once tried an insolence that was a DRY white floral/floral things, this one is not it, as I said I am unsure which exact version I tested today.
The version I tested might not be in the database ??

frenchthellamanerdfighter

lovely candied violets and like the best smelling dryer sheet of all time. purchased this immediately after smelling it because i've never smelled anything like it! this is on the fresher side for me, i usually spring for heady florientals and animalic leather scents but it has a lovely vintage powdery charm which is hard to find in fresh florals. i totally understand how people claim this smells like laundry detergent but i WISH my laundry detergent smelled this expensive. i'm a 20 year old university student and this really rounds out my collection of heavier stuff like poison, no 5, and black orchid.

Alisaaa131

I never tried the pre-reformulated version, the batch code says this was made 6 years ago.

I've seen alot of youtube reviews which made me purchase this as I LOVE violets.
I was hoping for what most had claimed, a syrupy, dark and deep violet fragrance but was a little disappointed.
This is the most airy, sugary parma violet fragrance! As a violet lover I'm quite pleased but can't help but be a little sad as I was expecting the heady fragrance most people rave about.
I asked for a friend's opinion and they said it smells like detergent, very clean and fresh.
The longevity is amazing, I can smell it on my clothes the next day!

I do love this fragrance since I love Parma Violets, I don't get any red berries but there is a hint of sandalwood in the dry down.
I'll definitely keep wearing it as a casual fragrance. However, my search for a deep, dark violet fragrance continues.

SalinasL

When I first got this, I sprayed into the air and found the scent to be simultaneously watery/weak and overwhelmingly powdery/heavy. It has taken me a few weeks to work up the desire to try it on skin and I’m glad I did. The opening reminded me of the red licorice in Lolita Lempicka, but more balanced and less candyish. It’s still really powdery, with violet being the dominant note on my skin, but it’s more delicate than my initial spray. Those who like My Name will like this too, I think. Insolence is stronger and has better longevity, perfectly suited to this particularly cold fall.

Taina44

This fragance is one of few floral centric scents I enjoy. It does have deeper and balmy undertones in it's composition, but the star is the Violet. It offers an intense blast of violets from the opening, which becomes gradually less intense and makes room for the iris and berries to show up,but always behind the divine violet. The dry down becomes quite powdery with soft woody notes and a hint of the sandalwood note but all this still behind the violet note, even if more subdue by then, still present.Years back, there used to be scented gum and candies from C. Howard's Violet Candies company. The scent of this fragance is identical to those candies, only intensified. Can be too intense of a scent,so in my opinion should be a 1 spritz type,or better yet, sprayed on the air and walk through it.Lovely.

jreyes366

I'm the type of person that believes that scents have no gender or age. Scents can be worn by anyone who likes them.

However, this fragrance is so blatantly womanly and that is exactly how to describe it. It's a thick and syrupy violet with a healthy splash of beautiful vanilla and berries.

The powdery quality is one of my favorites from this fragrance because it's also a bit smokey and dark. It does also smell clean and comforting at the same time, but it is a heavy hitter!

This lasts ages on the skin and even longer on clothes and hair. The dry down is a lovely powdery violet, dry and clean. I think that a really confident woman would wear this and be an absolute boss.

I had high hopes for this perfume based on the lovely notes listed, but unfortunately all I get is berries and artificial violet. The violet is just so overpowering that tonka and sandalwood are barely detectable. I made the mistake of buying this before trying because it was a good deal but regret it. I’m hoping it can be layered with something to tone down the violet. NOT a safe blind buy! Even if you’re a violet lover, try it first because it smells overly sweet and artificial, without any subtlety or balance.

EDIT: The drydown does offer a creamy-powdery aspect from the iris and sandalwood, however the synthetic violet is still dominant (so not a totally linear scent). The berries are a bit headache-inducing if you overspray this one!

gtabasso

I am not that crazy about original Insolence; so, I never bothered with the other releases. Got this for a song and said what the heck? How have I lived without this. Incredible. A deep rich musky nighttime sultry violet perfume with signature tonka Guerlinade and musk and patchouli that are not listed notes. I love it.

UnearthlyApothecary

This is not a natural smelling violet by any means, but the quality is obvious and does credit to the Guerlain name. Insolence somewhat reminds me of Ultraviolet without all the spice. more powdery, softer. More mature, like the refined older sister of the obnoxious and loud Ultraviolet. I adore the sweet violet powder atop the delicious woodsy/tonka base. Silage is fantastic, very long lasting. Insolence does get a little zing from the orange flower but oddly, for me, it’s not really obvious until the dry down.

peppermoon

Insolence EDP is like the violet/fruit/iris from the EDT, but with the neon violet dimmed down and laid over a sweet orange blossom note and a generic “sweet oriental” base that isn’t really distinguishable as separate notes of sandalwood or tonka. It’s darker, and more of a nighttime fragrance than the quirky/feminine EDT. Though the violet scent is associated with makeup powder scents, I don’t really see this fragrance as a powdery one - there’s not a powdery scent texture to me. I actually get the honeyed orange blossom quite strongly in the EDP, which changes the tone and mood from the EDT. But I like the smell of it, and it doesn’t have any of the harsh or irritating sharpness that I tend to dislike in department store frags. However, I find myself leaning towards preferring the EDT version because it is more unique and I enjoy the everlasting violet effect. Overall, solid like, but not a love.

dcvt

The scent is beautiful, it's sexy and playful, lightly seductive but classy and put together. The original bottle is beautiful, and so is the original formulation. The newer testers don't smell as good or last as long.

The unique and original bottles have incredible performance and the scent develops really nicely. I thought it'd make a great gift.

Scent: 9.5/10 Longevity: 9.5/10 Sillage: 9/10

Blueflowers

I love this.

This is neon violet...humming electric and glowing all day and night. Sweet, powdery and potent.

The red berries in here add a bit of sweetness to the top, iris lends a powdery, silky cool touch that blends so well with the violet, and sandalwood, tonka, and musk round out the base.

This lasts and lasts, and projects enormously for the first few hours. If you like violets, powder and sweetness, this has all three in spades. I got this for the unique original bottle before Guerlain replaced it with a bee bottle, and was not expecting to love this as much as I do.

Houdini4

I remember seeing this bottle but it's not an immediately accessible design for a man to pick up & try, well not this man anyway, but I have sampled the bee bottle now. I'm assuming this one has been discontinued in this format?
Anyway, This is a violet dominant fragrance as the colour of the perfume would suggest and it's very vibrant, yet restrained and actually fresh. This clearly resembles violet fragrances I like but I was struck by how different it is too. The opening is very fresh but no sharpness of citrus just that, mellowing into 'realistic' Iris/violet and not one that I found particularly powdery if I'm honest, Insolence is certainly no Violetta by Penhaligon's. Funnily enough I've tried another modern violet/iris this week and yet again I've been surprised at just how changeable they can be.
A lovely perfume but a bit reserved for my taste.

MistyPenny

This fragrance is a bold, modern interpretation of violets. I’m so glad I found a bottle with the original formulation. The violet is dominant, with iris being quite strong as well, and it’s well balanced with the woody base. It’s sassy, bold, confident. Despite having the violet, powdery thing going on, it’s never old fashioned and I can’t imagine Grandma wearing this. Also, when I smell this as a composite fragrance, it reminds me of those purple ju-jube Easter bunny candies. This is an absolute joy to wear!

annxyz

(Mar 2019 ) I Just received this and purchased the scent in the original bottle ( NOT THE BEE BOTTLE ) because I feared the latest bee bottle might be weaker .

There is such a variety of opinions on this , but I find it absolutely full of feminine charm . It appears this has been well liked , which surprises me because it is powdery and rather old fashioned . Things that are considered old fashioned or “ grandma “ are often classic and beautiful in my opinion .

I love Insolence ! It is long lasting , gentle, soft, and has a retro vibe that never goes out of style . This is one endearing fragrance and I am glad I purchased it.

sibaraa

Fruit punch, grape soda, grape flavored candies. Just terrible.

Marianora67

A deep, purple, velvety and mysterious fume. It’s thick, dreamy and powdery a fusion of violets, African orange blossoms and gorgeous Iris, with a zingy punch of sour Red Currants. Trailing off with woods and Tonka.
I warmed to this one instantly upon first sniff and very quickly made its way to my favourites list! I love that the violets here have that old world charm that concurs and blends perfectly for today’s modern women!
It’s a soft, feminine, chic juice that is also elegant and charming!
If you are a violet lover this is a must try!<3
Ps; sprayed this early this morning and the first thing my husband said to me when he gave me a hug was! Wow you smell good!:)

mschnabel666

I've had this in EDT for awhile now, and I like it. Very very potent, powdery, and likable. It's so strong tho. Easy on the sprays, and apply to skin only.

So I assumed I didn't need the EDP. But then Fragrancenet had a 100ml Bee Bottle (newest formula) really cheap (95% full, no box) so I had to buy it.

I have no experience with the original EDP- but this is rather weak. Is that a good thing? Well, I'm not sure. If I want to be knocked out by Insolence, I go for the EDT- which sounds crazy because that is the Toilette!

This EDP is more purple/violet, but easier to wear. I like it, and I actually think the weaker potency is a good thing here. However, I did about 5 sprays on my skin/chest, and then about 5 more over my neck/sweater an hour later (the Bee Bottle does spray a very light fine mist, which could be the cause of lighter/weaker potency). If I did that with the EDT, I'd pass out. So try before you buy, and if you buy online, find out what bottle it is. While I do prefer a knockout-powerhouse because you get more "bang for your buck", once applied heavily this has good (but light) potency/sillage/lasting power. Dare I say the weaker reform is a good thing?
(Also I'm trying in cold winter, and my extreme seasons in Upper Michigan def affect potency/sillage)

For a potent candy/violet perfume, I also have Pleats Please EDP (purple bottle/juice). However, that one comes off as plastic/cloying sometimes.

DiaAnna

I blind bought this due to the super good reviews here , of course the new design reached me so I got the reformultation and I must say that I’m not sad about it ,the staying power is very good , silage - it goes like 6 hours + easy ( my boyfriend got a headache from smelling me so for him it’s very strong ) , wasn’t familiar with violet perfumes so some might be upset on me if I say that it smells like freshly washed laundry ? Like a very perfumed detergent and I’m not saying that in a bad way or as a negative thing !! I like to be honest when giving my opinion , I do like it giving that I’ve been wearing it all day today , it’s fresh , sweet , powdery , strong and for some people nauseous , test before buy , it isn’t a safe blindbuy .

LonailovesFragrance

Smells like clean scent mixed with cherry . It is different and smells good after it dries down . It smells good in the spring/Early fall in the winter time doesn't smell good on me .

artisy

I'm finding this more difficult to wear than I imagined.

My first wear I overheated a little under my sweater and it turned the whole thing into Raid bug spray on my skin. It felt chalky, chemical, artificial, and devious.

My second wear in very cool weather created a cloud of purple florals with a polished wood smell. Sweeter, deeper, no bug spray notions, but still full of chalk. It's not a smooth type of powdery, it's gritty detergent powdery.

I believe it's the red berries in here that create a sense of artificial and chemicals on my skin. They're flat and lack juiciness or tartness of any kind. They're just plopped in, like mushy berries in a loaf cake.

I plan to give it a couple more wears and if it doesn't garner better experiences, in the discard pile it goes.

11PHOSPHORUS11

I'm a man and I wear it proudly.
Sure it is a floral and feminine scent but what a body!
The heart is made out of my favourite Iris and I wear it on its own or as a complement to a super masculine woody fragrances.
Be prepared to be constantly reminded of it as it lasts for ages and it's quite intense yet delicate.
Every man should have it!
Total 9/10

Blue_Lilac

I live for powdery scents and love violets, so this is the perfect perfume for me! I don’t find this overly sweet or cloying at all, even though I believe many view it as a sweet powerhouse. I can’t get enough of it and probably douse myself in a bit too much, but I’m blissfully unaware because that’s how much I love it. One of my favorite candies is crystallized/sugared violets and I also really love the candy Parma Violets. This perfume smells just like them, yet still maintains an elegance and doesn’t scream “teenybopper”. It reminds me the type of perfume that would be worn by a woman of the Belle Époque, Countess Élisabeth Greffulhe or perhaps Laure Hayman. If Madeleine Lemaire’s floral watercolors could smell, they would smell like this. My mom smelled this on me when I walked past her and loved it too, so I just bought her a bottle for Valentine’s Day.

I’m also a fan of new the bottle. While I don’t particularly like uniform packaging, which is what Guerlain is going for, I do think the new frosted bottle suits the fragrance better. The original one looked tacky and outdated in a bad early 2000s way, this new bottle looks elegant and antiqued, again reminds me of a bottle you could find during the Belle Époque period. It’s not an eyesore like the old bottle and I can keep it out on my vanity without it distracting from my decor.

VanniGodfrey

So I just received this in the mail a few days ago after blind buying it. My first impressions: hairspray, fresh paint, and chalk. The opening is a little too sharp for my tastes, but the drydown is really lovely. I find Insolence a bit jarring and shrill---personally, I think I might prefer if the base notes were a bit more prominent throughout to balance out the sharp opening, but I think that's just my preference for roundness and smoothness in my fragrances. Perhaps it's also my unfamiliarity with violet. There's something somewhat green in Insolence that reminds me a bit of Champs Elysées---I feel like the two are cousins. There is also something in this that very, very vaguely reminds me of L'heure Bleue, like this is its great, great, great grandchild.

I don't get the beastly sillage and longevity many people here seem to experience, but I enjoy how it develops on my skin---I sprayed it on my hand the other night and the sheer remnants I woke up to the next morning were very nice. I find it rather understated aside from its piercing opening.

I guess it comes partly with the territory of now owning a fragrance I'd never smelled before, but I don't get much imagery from this. It's like I smell it, but I don't experience it. Maybe it's just waiting for me to make memories with it.

I quite like it overall, but I'm not convinced quite yet that I love it. It feels like there are some parts missing from the recipe, but I appreciate it for what it is. I think it will perform really beautifully in springtime. For right now, I'm having fun getting to know it better.

HennaQueen

Wearing Insolence again today. It smells like a blend of C. Howards Violet Candies (they also make a violet gum) and Coty Airspun Face Powder (the one that smells like L'Origan).

I LOVE IT. Since I have fallen down the rabbit hole of fragrance obsession, I am finding that I really love scents that have a prominent violet note. And Insolence is a sweet, powdery ultra-violet dream come true.

You must love powder and you must love violet in order to pull this one off!

s.pa_pandora

For the original version, I think Insolence Eau de Parfum is the most extreme longevity and sillage perfume of Guerlain that I’ve ever used. The floral-powdery perfume is superb. I adore the beautiful packaging with dark purple. I think it is a sophisticated design of bottle of perfume. If you are a lover of violet flower, you will fall in love it, because it is well balanced among the sweetness of violet flower, some berries, and Tonka beans, together with top grade iris. The image of Insolence which I can interpret is a highly confident woman, to be sharp-witted and venerable.

By the way, one of my colleagues have said to me that she can always feel the trustworthiness and gracefulness from me when I spray this perfume during the meeting. :)

kastehelmi

It is over time that I came to love violets. At the beginning of my perfume journey it was among my least favorite notes. I see why I immediately rejected this years ago. I always was more open to fresher more transparent violets than the heavier ones, and I was never content to smell like candy. This opens like an explosion of candied violets, makeup powder, and that sweet old "perfumey" note, setting it apart from most of its peer releases. The opening is kind of a turn-off, though wearable with my new general love of powder. The raspberry-like fruity note keeps things from smelling downright vintage. Once the heart notes develop, all of the aggression is gone, and it's creamy-smooth, just lovely. Very well-done!

Khatun

This is a neon purple grapey violet to me. If scientists discovered a grove of bioluminescent violets and twisted trees full of ripe red berries, I have a feeling it would smell quite similar. I’ve never smelled the EDT but I think this version would be quite beautiful in spring and summer also.

The other plus is that this is quite strong, I get very good sillage and longevity. It still maintains this sort of ethereal quality too, I never find it overwhelming or cloying like some other powerhouses can be. I’m no expert on violet fragrances but this is quite unlike any other fragrance I’ve smelled (maybe slightly similar to Creed’s Love in Black but I actually prefer that one for the weird gasoline note). I’m impressed!

dttk

This is not really sweet to my nose. Just very little sweet, modern violet fragrance which is long lasting.. I love it, one of my favourites.

@gettheTwist - You made my day!

To quote When Harry Met Sally “I want what she’s having.”

I am late to the party !!! Where was I all this time before INSOLENCE happened into my life??
INSOLENCE Edp is the most beautiful elixir ever! It makes me feel so happy! All the sweet violets I get from it make me feel gorgeous, super nostalgic, romantic, girly, feminine, bubbly, creative, inspired, so blessed, so complete...so ME ! I guess it suits so well my personality :) I think I have found my matching soul, my nº1 ! This perfume has a vintage vibe but a modern twist at the same time. It's not dated at all...I The emotions I feel when I wear this gem, OMG, perfection in a bottle. I can NOT imagine him being discontinued, so I really stocked up on this ( I have 6 bottles, old purple bottle and also the new ones). I could wear this forever! I get really HIGH when I sniff this one :) This is my drug :-P
The projection and sillage are amazing and it holds really nice on my skin.I also got the Edt one, just to try it and see the difference: it's a bit fresher with more fruitiness in the opening, perfect for warmer days. It's a shame that we can't get the body lotion anymore.
I love INSOLENCE so much I should write him a poem or a love letter, to express my feelings properly :) Maybe I will...
@TrixieGrace really?! :D Thanks so much !!

Black_Swan

If you are like me and love the not too sweet fruity/jammy opening of Annick Goutal Eau de Charlotte but don't like the baby oil dry down, you should try this one. Maybe it's just me, but it is immediately what I was reminded of, but Insolence is more elegant and sophisticated, and keeps that vibe throughout. I haven't tried the EDT so I can only speak for the EDP, but I have read the EDP is deeper and better rounded. I actually find this one pretty subtle and understated with one spray, but it could be easily amped up with more sprays, and the longevity is good, so it has some versatility too. Unusual, unique and well done. For those who are looking for a less sweet, more mature, sophisticated and complex fruity/floral.

Catty

It just arrived my edp for winter!!!
I loveeee Insolence ...this perfume follows me the whole year: edt in spring/summer and edp fall/winter.
I could say that after Coco edp, this Beauty is my 2o. beloved perfume...Insolence edp is very French, classy, "grow up", also very modern and extremely feminine fragrance. The Quality is outstanding...silage and longevity monsters.
Only Guerlain can make the best powdery fragrances with this incomparable French elegance...amazing the work they did with this Beauty!

churinl

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet!! If I had a smaller collection and was the type of woman who would lay claim to one scent as her signature, Insolence would be a top contender! She opened me up to the divine smell of violets, something I previously thought of as a supporting player to my beloved white florals and florientals - L'heure Bleu for example. Since purchasing her, I have been on the lookout for other violet-dominant fragrances. So far, the only other one I have purchased is Gucci Flora Generous Violet. They are night and day in that the former is an unabashed, dare I say insolent seductress in her boudoir, carefully applying her makeup, preparing herself and wondering which man she will seduce tonight. The later is a young woman preparing for her prom, still innocent, and unaware of the effect her beauty is beginning to have on the people around her. Insolence is the diva, GV the ingenue. I like GV quite a bit, but I adore Insolence!
While I am not generally a person who likes to blend my perfumes, I have tried layering this with the aforementioned LHB and it's a lovely effect, with Insolence adding some sweetness to LHB, and LHB lending some depth to Insolence. Just a suggestion, though I do prefer each as they already are!

Stasi

I get the skin of a red grape and powder. Loving it!

RaeGoLightly

@rola.asad....I think that smell from childhood is Mr Bubbles! Like a grown up version.

I can see this as a comforting scent and I’m hoping for a nice hot day to try this in the heat. Today is rainy with a chill. I’d like to try layering with a scent that has a warmer base.

I love Guerlain and am hoping for their base to people through. I don’t see this as a Love right now but a like. Definitely a keeper as far as I don’t own any other scent like this and it could be a great layered. I think my first will be Elephant. I burn wax melts and ironically today, I have one warmer with a strong cinnamon and the other with violets and irises. The combo is very nice!

I’ll update more as I get to know this better.

over_caffeine

Ahhhhhh! Fragrance definitely impacts mood and few fragrances can uplift my mood better than Insolence EDP. This fruity, fizzy, violet bomb is not as strong, cloying or in-your-face as reviews make it seem, but it lasts and lasts...This is definitely aimed at the younger crowd but is nowhere as insipid as the other fruity gourmand"pink juices" that flood the market today. Insolence EDP is sweet violet candies dusted with very expensive makeup with a dash of red fruit. I'm so glad to score a 100 ml bottle in the old, psychedelic purple packaging. Casual, yes but it is also complex enough for special occasions. I am afraid this might topple Samsara as my current favorite Guerlain.

wg_jy

I got this one and had to return it. I really wanted to love it though. Guerlain make great perfumes but this one is just not for me. It is violet and lovely and all that. but it is just too sharp for me. It is indeed insolence. It represent a beautiful and pride girl who think she is better than anyone else. Some people may find it charming. i think, maybe its good for young 20 to wear??? not sure.

louiee

A little stronger and more serious version than the EDT. Its like you mean it a little bit more.. I still love it though.. powder, violets, tonkabean, iris and truckloads of feminine fluff. Cant stop smelling myself when Im wearing this. #guerlainforpresidentofperfumes.

dalu

My one of the most have fragrance. It's so soft, enveloping and warm. For me it's too rich to wear during summer time, but for autumn or winter it's more than perfect.
Longevity 10/10, silage 7/10.

mimi2018

This truly is a beautiful perfume, it basically smells of powdery violets. If you like feminine sweet/ floral perfumes that are not too young and overly sweet this is for you. It suits all ages and is suitable for any occasion. However, this is likely to be an signature scent. It has great longevity and lasts over 8 hours on my skin and clothes. This is my first guerlain perfume and I am impressed so will definitely be buying more!

bigl4k

This is similar to Thierry Mugler Alien EDP but a bit sweeter. Very long lasting and good silage. This was a blind buy and I happen to like it. Me happy !

gatsby

yguess, replace with what, with the new ugly, gross bottle and the half performances reformulated perfume inside? Even this obnoxious bootle was also discontinued after few months, on guerlain.com this fragrance is simply disappeared.

yguess

Wrap me up in violets, dust me in powder and send me to market. Must like make up powder and violets to even try... This is a complicated fragrance that you will either love or hate. I love that for me, different notes play differently each time I wear it. It is a screamer, and will shout loudly all day. I can't say I ever got a compliment about this perfume, but I don't care...I wear this cause it makes me smile. I would be interested to find the man that though this was a sexy time perfume... Can't imagine what he would look like. I couldn't make this a signature scent, but enjoy enough that I will replace the bottle when gone. Soon =(

Beth

This is a makeup bag in all it’s glory! Powder and lipstick combine in the most overwhelming, obnoxious way. I was overcome! It didn’t like me either: It gave me an itchy, red rash on my skin. Insolence! Onto the swap list it goes.

Emera1d

A very strong violet perfume, kind of sad but elegant and beautiful. I have to admit I bought this for sentimental reasons, as it reminds me of the violet sweets my great grandma used to always have in the house. I sniff it when I am in a bit of nostalgic mood and it just takes me back in time. It smells like old-school glamour to me-it is very feminine and graceful and last for ages. I agree with the previous comment-it is a perfume everyone should experience at lest once. I can't see myself wearing it but I do absolutely love it.

sueshow

OMG I LOVE THIS. It smells elegant like violet lipstick and grape pez all at the same time. I may have to change my signature. I'm truly in heaven when i smell this. Everyone should experience this perfume at least once.

gelkita

I am not a powdery fragrance fan and I fell in love with Insolence EDP

The magic is, this is not a grandma powdery but more of a boudoir powdery, kind of romantic.
I wear it on its own during the day and for night time, I mix it with Shalimar Souffle Intense, this combo turns the powdery romantic into powdery erotic, animalistic..

ÉDIT
I’ve just had a « eureka » moment when spraying Insolence this morning.
The name of this fragrance is true to the smell. In this powdery smell, I can picture a boudoir smell, with a cheeky, sassy woman... (Insolence = Sassy in English)

Swedelish

It's dark purple in feeling, just like the bottle and juice. It is meloncholy, but there's a playful side too. Sandalwood comes through after the first phase, then it stays a slightly creamy, woody violet scent until the tonka really comes through. By about an hour in, tonka becomes equally as dominant as the violets, which I love! Longevity is outstanding, projection is strong. I only spray 3 times tops and that's enough to carry me through most of the day. Unless you know you want to smell like all violets, this may be too much for you. It's essentially a violet soliflore with a few added notes that compliment and amplify Violet, changing little by little from start to finish. So it's not totally linear but not complex in its changing either. I am considering purchasing edt now as well, but I think the edp will remain my favorite Insolence. According to the batch code, my bottle is from 2017.

Lily Smiles

I bought Insolence Eau de Parfum on the strength of the many positive reviews. Although I knew it was mainly violet but I never imagined how overpowering the violets would smell. I find it a little sickly sweet. I so wanted to love this perfume and I won’t give up on it just yet.

edwardian.lady

This is one of my favourite perfumes, it belongs to my top five most loved fragrances: a powdery, sweet, narcotic, intoxicating, sexy violet on steroids with bomb longevity and sillage. The Guerlinade is definitely there also. Sometimes I think this smells like violet blossoms-shaped candies, some other times it makes me think of a romance, a love story taking place in Paris during La Belle Époque (although it's a modern scent, not an old fashioned one, but still French, very Parisien).

I also love the new packaging, the mythical Bee Bottle designed in 1853 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain for the Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoléon III.

Neuphoria

New packaging is simply glorious. Same violet goodness in a sleeker, more classic bottle. I think this bottle reflects the fragrance better. Well done, Guerlain

Chazas

Tried the new repackaged version in a boutique and it goes strong. After a day it still projects of paper strip and I can smell it of few meters apart, and on cloth I sprayed it still goes strong too. I never tried the original, but the performance is really good even with the new bee bottles, really impressive.

Amazing fragrance creation, I am thinking to get this as a male.

DomfromBE

@ MonsieurGuerlain Sorry for the misunderstanding of your article. I definitely shouldn't reed when I'm at work, switching from one language to another. But I won't change my mind: your site is very interesting and the release of the Bee bottle at Guerlain matches with watered down versions of at least Vol de Nuit, Jicky, Samsara and as Catty said, Insolence.

monsieurguerlain

@DomfromBE I'm happy that you find my article useful, although it says that the formula code is so complex that it's practically of no use. It certainly can't be used to determine reformulations. In addition, I stated that the myth about a link between packaging design changes and reformulation is NOT true.

DomfromBE

@ Catty Usually when you have a new bottle the perfume is reformulated and you will find a very helpful article on Monsieur Guerlain website about the batch codes and the codes of the formulas that are mentionned on Guerlain's boxes.
Your impression about Insolence is the same as mine for Samsara and Vol de Nuit or Jicky in the new Bee Bottles...

DomfromBE

@ Chazas The original bottle is still for sale depending on the stocks but the production is on the bee bottle now. And such an heavy (over)sweet violet note is rarely expected for men, it's not to be compared with the dry woody leathery violet of G. Beene's Grey Flannel, IMO.

Single rose in the forest

This is one of my favourite perfumes.I am not a violet or iris lover so kept staying far away from this.I tried it lately and i have fallen under this perfume's smell.I am not a fan of candy-sweet scents. When i smell it i dont get something innocent.I get something dark, sexy and feminine.Yes its strong,it smells like powder, sugar and maybe flowers.so a tiny amount and its perfect

cufberte.daniem

A good example of packaging (hideous, in this case) not being representative of the product you actually get. The bottle screams ingineu, tween, immaturity and a desire to be different when all you're really being is cringy, just like everyone else like you. The fragrance itself isn't entirely different, but I don't believe it was meant to be a shockingly new thing. It's a violet scent with powdery undertones and fruity overtones. It's been done and if it was meant to be a new thing, it failed that.

All this being said, as negative as it is, I actually love this fragrance. It feels like a loving nod back to Après l'Ondee. That is to say, a traditional Guerlain violet. As Après l'Ondee is so hard to get for a good price, especially vintage, this is an okay substitute. It can be heavy at first but it dries down really well, very similar to a trademark Sylvaine Delacourte 'white musk ball'

I hated the EDT, because it actually suited the packaging. Reminded me of a teenager's deodorant. This is elegant and chic, for a grown up. Rather lovely.

nottheaverageidiot

Oh! Ok, I didn't expect to enjoy Insolence as much as I did.
It's an airy, powdery, sweet violet which is ridiculusly strong. Insolence is gourmand (candy-like) and probably doesn't take itself very seriously, which it doesn't need to. It's big and brash and fun to wear! I feel that careful dosage is the way to go with Insolence; the first time I wore it I only used one swipe of a tester and had my coworkers sniffing thoughtfully and leaning closer for a second whiff.

I would probably have bought a full bottle even if it were more expensive.

Edit: I find myself reaching for this a lot, guys. When applied sparingly, the performance is wonderful. Though gourmand, the scent profile works well in the heat of summer, for comfort during colder seasons and (applied with a light hand) at work.

rola.asad

I have nothing in my collection similar to this perfume, I’m not a violet lover! So wasn’t sure to make a risk and buy it blindly, despite all the positive reviews here, so I went to the shop and tried it, the moment I smelt it, it took me back when I was a child I smelled this scent somewhere, but really can’t remember where, and i didn’t want to write a review before recognizing what was that! But after a month I said whatever that thing is screw it!
As I decided to add this foreign and strange memeber to its sisters, today I wanted to try it,and discover it more, then during the day i was speaking with a friend of mine, when a guy entered the room and said “Oh there is something smells heavenly here, so in my mind I knew it was “insolence”!!! So I raised my wrist to him so he can smell the fragrance, and he immediately shouted “Oh damn yes, that is coming from you” , and he added this doesn’t smell like fragrance!!
So yes guys this is my review for this beauty!

Violinplayah

This is a solid like from me. I am enjoying the fruity violet dryer sheet vibe (same reason I like Joop on other people), it’s very clean and classy, but this is not a statement maker. To me, this is work safe with a couple of sprays. I think it’s very versatile, year round day scent. This is NOT l’Heure Bleue - not even close to the elegance and grace of a classic Guerlain. But I also don’t view it as a “vulgar” perfume, as LT called it. It’s a casual, day perfume and would suit city life well as it is clean and strong. It was a cheap blind buy and I don’t regret it and I’m sure I’ll get lots of wear out of it. Side note about the bottle- the old one is ugly, but don’t judge a perfume by the bottle (or name, or advertising). Longevity is amazing.

Edit: Today I was smelled out and had a headache after a day of blind buy fails. I sprayed a little of this on after scrubbing away my mistakes and was surprised at how comforting and just plain GOOD this smelled. I may feel ambivalent about Insolence when I’m surrounded by my favorite fragrances, but all it took was spraying a couple of bad choices to make me realize that even the most safe Guerlain is of far higher quality than most of what is out there. I am really enjoying this little comforting purple cloud, and remembering that not all of my blind buys have been bad!

cocolover56

I sadly disliked the edt with a passion and decided to try this. Needs to be applied with a very light touch as it can be cloying. In saying this, it is much lovelier. The edt reminded me of feminine deodorant, because of the strawberry, but this one is violets all the way through and in such a light and beautiful way. wore this side by side with the L'Heure Bleue which I had on and was in violet heaven

TwoTabu

I bought a small bottle with the original design for a good price online. From the first I can see the relationship with Apres L'Ondee, but while that perfume quickly fades into the ether Insolence has more staying power. The dry down can seem a little synthetic though, unlike some of my other Guerlain beauties. Still this is a bright and fun modern take on violets. Something out of the ordinary.

Violet_Rose

This is a homage to violets. It is a modern heavy spread of of a beautiful flower, much enjoyed through history by all ages and sexes. Not just grannies!

Thank you Guerlain, for this one. I prefer the style of the layered circular bottle though. The taller medicinal looking new one is boring.

I see the edt was aimed at younger women and the edp for a chic and eccentric woman. Well, I wear what I like, Guerlain. I've not tried the edt but wear the edp. I'm neither young nor old. I might fit in your edp category. I might not. But I'll wear it as I like it.

It is a sweet, powdery, strong violet. Other notes are in there but luckily don't ruin the purity of the violet. All I'd like is for the price to be a little more affordable.

Gabler

This perfume reminds me of violet blossoms-shaped candies I used to eat when I was a child. These candies had the same color as the Insolence bottle has, the flavor was horribly sweet & a little bit synthetic /so typical for cheap sweets/. When you ate up just one or two pieces, everything was perfect - but if you tried to eat up a few more, your life was in danger.

And there is the similarity with Insolence - it´s a beautiful and charming fragrance if you don´t overdo with applying. Try to apply this perfume just lightly - and Insolence will seem like a cute nymph holding a bouquet of violets. And it´s alright, that´s what you want. But beware of more intensive application - because then the bunch of flowers turns into a narcotic, intoxicating and almost deadly scent. Even if it doesn´t seem, I really like this scent. It´s a classic fragrance, intensive and well-balanced. One of those perfumes that you shouldn´t miss.

Bubbles1964

One of the best blind buys to date. if you love violets this is a must. It's so well blended that I don't pick up the other notes but no matter, it's an affordable slice of heaven. Great longevity and moderate projection.

I bought my 1 oz for under $23 on fragrancenet.com

Great addition to my fall/winter collection. Guerlain continues to impress me. I think this would also make great gift purchase. So easy to love!

Edit: the reviewer after me mentioned violet candies and it does remind me of that! The powdery tart kind from our childhood.

iris.nguyen

I don't like the opening of this perfume; too powdery, too try-hard for me but the development and dry down are, oh my god, gorgeous, soft and... coy (lol). On a chilly night, I spray some of Insolence and tuck myself into my huge and warm blanket. I have the best dream ever and waking up smelling amazingly lady-like.

ayamayapyjama

This was yet another blind buy and hopefully my last, because it is one of the best things I've smelled in quite some time and I won't allow myself the time, money nor nose I spent on other perfumes I think are just ok.

This smells like a poem, a romance, love and powder. I love it so much. Well ok, it actually just smells like lovely violets and powder and lots of each and is a beautiful creation. So simple, so great.

I think a lot of cremes have this smell, because it's very familiar to my nose. Maybe even products for babies, such as certain baby powders or cremes for wounds maybe?

This is not fresh, not sweet, just powdery violets. Heavenly. I don't even want to smell anything else. I despise my scarve for having the scent of other perfumes on it and I have to wash all of my sweaters that I've sprayed on with other scents. I only want to smell this devine composition and nothing else for some time, maybe ever.

Catty

This is so BEAUTIFULLLLLLL!!!!!!
My god...so ladylike, a refined aroma!

I never liked guerlain: to dated fragrances for me. But Insolence changed everything. When I smell it, I´m transported to another dimension.

This is pure violets enveloped by a sugary water, with a tinge of the Iris elegance. This requires a perfect make up, impecable coiffeur and nails, a silky blouse...just go!

Now I can see all the savoir faire from Guerlain. They were able to make for me the first modern and outstanding violet fume, since the 50´s/60´s with an exquisite longevity (more than 8 hours) and a very good projection.

Insolence is definetely a modern classic! a violet piece of art in the modern perfumery.

Chapeau Guerlain...all my respect!

PricklyAndHot

Dark catchy violet. Delicate, but not strict. Pretty powdery. I like it more than edt. The best of Insolence.

It reminds My Queen by Alexander McQueen because of powdery violet.

snoopyQ

This is gorgeous.
It smells very violety and I think very clean! It does have an almost detergent sharp cleanliness to it. Luckily though it has just enough powderyness to keep it from going down that road.
So it smells very fresh and pleasent.
Projects well the first 3-4 hours and has a solid longevity of 10hours plus.

This one I think not everybody will like so try it before making any comittments

Annabear

Someone at work wears Insolence EDT, and I thought it was ok, but nothing special, nor anything I would go for. I admit to recognising it as a Guerlain, but had no idea what it was when she first started wearing it.
Fast forward a few months, I toyed with the idea of testing it, and read enough reviews to determine that the EDP was the preferred option by many far more knowledgeable reviewers than I. Being the stick in the mud Guerlain fan that I am, I knew I was moving out of my comfort zone, away from the classics like Shalimar, Jicky, Chamade, AL’O, Mitsy and LHB...but I decided to order it.
It arrived today, I really love it. It’s violets all the way for me, with some vanilla. I am hooked! I might be speaking a little too soon, but first impressions for me are quite meaningful and I think this is a winner!

ex-grayspoole

Never say never: I’m wearing Insolence EDP. A few years ago, I was laughing at the twirly, twinkly, pinky, purpley line of Insolence bottles. Now, Roucel’s direct and precise homage to Apres L’Ondee and the Guerlain DNA in this composition makes me very happy since it seems the only Apres L’Ondee that I will ever have is a modern EDT so attenuated that I can barely smell it 15 minutes later. (A shout out to all the insightful reviewers who called my attention to this perfume.)

Violet flowers are made modern in Insolence EDP, a sophisticated (“vulgar”? no way!) violet perfume that I can to add to my other violet favorites, including (all vintage) Coty Paris, Le Dix, Jolie Madame, YSL Paris. I’ll take violets with creamy, powdery aldehydes (Le Dix) and I’ll take them with rich roses (Coty and YSL Paris) but I particularly like violets when they are matched with more sensual, muskier notes, as in Cellier’s brilliant combination of violets and castoreum and isobutyl quinoline in Jolie Madame.Meanwhile, my 50 year old bottle of Violetta di Borsari extrait contains a surprisingly strong and hirsute dose of civet with the dark violets: it’s clear violets were never just for grannies, back in the day.) Insolence EDP is the latest take on this game of contrast, presenting slightly syrupy violets on an ambered, darkly musky base. The perfume in my 2016 bottle last all day, with a moderate sillage. Now issued in the (boring) bee bottle, but I think Mansau’s purple gyroscope is the only way to go.

Mooniq

On my skin - just Violet. Bright and shiny Violet. I can't smell any other notes - but it is a very nice Violet-scent indeed. Worth buying if you're into Violet.

MissMasha

This is THE party girl of the night. Best dressed, makeup on point, shoes and bag by latest fashion. And when she walks out of the dance floor, to lit up a cigarette, all men gather around her with lighters, without her asking like the scene from the film Malena with Monica Bellucci. It's seductive. Sultry and sometimes sulky. This is how rich girls went partying smells like to me. It has smoky, may I say tacky feel to it. But it's so glamorous that you won't mind.

I also love this almost art deco bottle.

Love this!

Germanblonde

This is a stunner and belongs to my top five most loved fragrances. I am not even a fan of flowery fragrances (well, at least so I thought for the longest time, but more and more I get into frags, more and more I learn that I am actually very fond of violets and jasmine. So I have to rethink my whole "I am not a flowery woman" view). Anyway - this is awesome. I think the berry aspect is what makes this floral frag so great. This lady is perfection through and through.

menka

What can I say? Hmm... It isn't love, but I hope that we will like each other over time.
After the first spraying, the fragrance is strong, sharp, and quite floral. Then, I don't like it- it's almost unbearable. After 10 minutes, the violet begins to clearly dominate and so to the end. In the meantime, the scent takes on a bit of sweetness thanks to iris, wooden notes and tonka bean. In addition, red berries and orange blossom give it some juicy and sour notes. Then, the fragrance is intriguing and rich, but still so violet.
Durability and projection on my skin, as usual, isn't very good. The smell is close to skin about 4- 5 hours.
I can't name it, but there's something that discourages me from this smell, but at the same time tempting.
I will give us some time ...

Kimmychoo 01

Having been an avid palma violet sweet eater as a child - walking home from school buying 10 packets at 5 p each and excitedly smelling and rubbing on my skin for that palma violet note / i have now found my little nostalgic guilty pleasure . I do find this a very niche perfume .. nobody i knew back then liked the taste or smell of palma violets .. and to this day i do not think they are that popular .
I believe this perfume has many many elements , but this is what sticks out to me:
First spray -is a strong powdery fruity zesty bouquet , oranges , rasberry , just a very berry mix up .... i must admit it can be a little chaotic at first - kind of like a mad friday dash
But give it time - iris and rose come through - with a touch of tonka bean
Then my all time fave sweety palma violet
dry down is just pure sweet palma violets.. subtle iris and Sweet raisins ..such powdery sweet. Bliss .
10/10

Staying power is immense ! All day and then some . Sillage amazing 10/10 A very well made substantial perfume !

juniemoon

This is not a review yet! But after reading all these comments I'm taking the plunge and blind buying this, and I'm 98 percent sure I'll love it. Will update when I receive in the mail in a few days.

Today is Friday January 19, two days later. It's exactly what I hoped for! The perfect bold violet! Gorgeous and worth every cent. Did you blind buy Menka? This is my most successful blind buy to date.

MixedTastes

I pulled out a teeny tiny old sample I have of the EDP last night. I’d forgotten I even had it and couldn’t recall ever trying it.

Wow! How on earth did this absolute gem pass me by? Powdery parma violets and a dry warmth that is pure, classic Guerlain.

Captivating and definitely full bottle worthy.

btheo138

Best blind buy I ever made! I love violets and powdery perfumes, so this is a match made in heaven for me. I also get a "clean laundry" smell in there too, ever so slightly. It's lovely.

osy2017

This is absolutely stunning, I have nothing like it. Was a blind buy for me and I do not regret it. At first felt very sharp and cold, but after a while on my skin became very beautiful and very elegant. Also it is very long lasting. Guerlain did not disappoint again. Looking forward to wear this.

greyhoundmom

Super sweet and juicy, kind of grape-y like Poison. Insolence is extremely strong and bold, purple is a good color for this fragrance. It's a fun perfume that's somewhat linear, there is some faint powderiness from the tonka bean but for the most part it is just a blast of sugar that lasts forever.

I prefer My Insolence because it is basically Insolence with almond blossom and vanilla added on, which gives the perfume some depth.. but Insolence is great when I want something simple, sweet, and loud that still doesn't smell like what anyone else is wearing.

Nicole f

Smells exactly like parma Violet sweets to me. Really like this on a cold day.

perfume_infatuated

A timeless, high performing powdery masterpiece. I find it an impressive, outright lady perfume. It's heavy on dry powder, and possesses a nice sour fruity note. Absolutely classy, attractive, and addictive. Shouldn't be reformulated or discontinued.

P.S. Sadly, it's reformulated, and sold in new packaging.

hilili

I can't believe that i've never tried it on! I now feel like a fool for not allowing myself de experience this beauty earlier! So, I never liked the original bottle, to me it looked like a teenagers perfume so I never cared enough to try it until the other day, I was at Guerlain and I've seen that they had new bottles (which I absolutely LOVE) so I decided to try Insolence EdP without realizing it was insolence.
Result: It's been a couple of days and my coat still has this scent on. I absolutely love it. It doesn't smell like a teens perfume. It's just pretty and fun and sugary and now that I see the ingredients I get why I like it so much, violet, iris and orange flower are just delicious.

Danielle79

This scent is just not for me. I blind bought it which was a bad idea. I purchased it because I love violets but this is just too much. I have this up for swap. It’s a shame I have a 3,4 bottle that I sprayed about 3 Times id love to find it a good home. Anyone interested in swap please message me.

Tigi

Oh, sweet, glorious, majestic fragrance perfection!!! Insolence eau de parfum is a delightful olfactory work of art in every regard. She is at once recognizable, majestic, juicy sweet (to me, dark) red berries and sugary violets bathed in powdery, delicate iris floating atop a sweet, warm bed of tonka bean and delicious sandalwood. What a gorgeous, delightful fragrance she is!
The berries in this formulation give the precise and exact same note and vibe as the red-berries note in Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Rosa Pop (though Insolence EDP is sweeter by far).
Unlike the ethereal, icy version - Insolence Eau Glacee - Insolence EDP is the Grande Dame, the Queen Royale. She is the indigo velvet cloak atop regal, fearless shoulders.

Now, I'm insane, but if I were to translate the versions of Insolence that I'm familiar with into actresses:
Insolence Eau Glacee - Grace Kelly
Insolence Eau de Toilette - Natalie Portman
Insolence Eau de Parfum - Lauren Bacall
Insolence Crazy Touch - Jennifer Lopez

Scent: 10/10 - hallmark Guerlain beauty and quality.
Longevity: Moderate +
Sillage: Moderate or more, depending on application.

One of my best blind-buys ever.

Mimosa.Sensitiva

Insolence is a gorgeous perfume. This is VIOLETS GALORE with a fantastic staying power and very long sillage.
This is such an elegant perfume with a gorgeous bottle but I do not understand why Guerlain have chosen such a naughty name for it. It is a rather mysterious perfume not a daring one.
This fragrance reminds me of Penhaligon’s Violetta only that Violetta is a lot more powdery and it doesn’t have such a great longevity.
Insolence is one of the kind and I will always repurchase it.
Love it!!

MeanSuga

I have to agree with Freebirdsoul`s review -
it brings certain vibes akin to other fumes - it`s what Jasmine is to Alien, Anise/Licorice & Violet is to Lolita Lempicka, what Plum & Tuberose is to Poison...
I think if jasmine, tuberose, or anise were added to this `fume,it would be too close to smelling like a dupe of something else.
The way it is, it`s intoxicating, modern with more than a nod to the traditional Iris ,Tonka, and Violet parfums.
Violet and berry mash up jam, rich, syrupy, very much a surprise at first blast ( and I made no attempt at sparse sprays ) .
This is no light `n flirty flighty floral fruity for a carefree lighthearted romp.
It`s seriously sexy and deep sweet.
I would recommend this to the light fruity floral lovers who might want a step up to something more intense and enduring.
The sandalwood is dreamy and creamy. A slight incense waft. Enchanted foresty, without conifers or added herbals.
I do not especially get the powder aspect.
I did sense an undercurrent of soap, shampoo from time to time, but it did not dominate the other notes.
Heavy on wear and projection.
My own tag words would be - mature sweet`n sexy , sensual, class, top quality.
I am very pleased. This was a blind buy based on reviews here, and notes. I plan to wear on my wedding Do Over day in Las Vegas. I feel all that Insolence EDP features is the perfect choice.

Amv10

In all the world of florals I think there are only 2 of this kind. Paris and Insolence. The name could not have been best chosen. What Paris is to roses, Insolence is to iris-violets. A such a huge and enormous concoction that no matter how much you’re not into flowers you can’t not stop, bow and start laughing at this indecent explosion of notes. It’s like that over the top dress or car or house design that make your eyes hurt, flirts with indecency and yet shamefully (or not)you recognise that you totally love it. It’s also a perfume « from back then », as if Guerlain woke up suddenly with a joke of issuing a fragrance of the 80s or early 90s a full generation after: huge projection, huge sillage, in your face type of thing of those years. And great that they did it!
But a word of caution. This is Insolence EDP. Insolence EDT is a screeching type of thing like the sound of nails scratching a blackboard. If you only try the EDT you can end up like me staying carefully 10m away from any customer you see trying to spray Insolence from the Guerlain shelf for fear of catching a bit of the spray from the air. I did this for a number of good years until recently I decided to give it another try from the new Bee bottle, which happened to be the EDP, and a beauty came out instead of the nasty screetchy thing EDT was.

gingervixen

This perfume is so intoxicating in such a beautiful way!

Perhaps it's the perfume with the greatest sillage AND longevity I've ever seen, which is something very hard to find in the world of perfumes. Seriously, the sillage is enormous, it fills a room and it can be very overwhelming if you don't know how to wear it. I'd say 3 whiffs of the EDP are enough for you to keep smelling amazing and sexy all day long. I usually spray 3 times on my skin and one time on my hair to give it a long-lasting touch..

This is like immersing yourself into a bath full of the sweetest, most powerful and intoxicating violets you've ever smelled... it's like being seduced by a powerful, yet nourishing goddess who wants to envelop you with her mysteries... This is no perfume for girls!! This can only be worn by powerful, determined, sexy women who want to be known and want to leave their mark wherever they go! I guess it's called "Insolence" because only a woman with such a daring trait could wear it!

If you like powerful, intoxicating, dreamy fragrances like me... Go for this one! A sexy, strong, delicious scent that will make you drunk in love!

AnitaHendricks

What a beauty. Sweet lilac candies and warm tonka bean with a woody note underneath. There's a hint of berry too. It's a strong perfume and I love it! This version is slightly deeper than it's pink sister which I also love.

advabart

@dipisor
I had exactly the same experience.
Both projection and longevity leave a lot to be desired.
I suspect this formerly BEAST of perfume has been infected by deadly reformulation. The newer bottle also looks slightly different from the original one.

dipisor

I remember this so powerful, so powdery, so...violet.
When I finally bought it, I was so disappointed. After 2 hours it was gone, I could barely smell it on my skin or my clothes. No intensity, longevity or sillage. So I returned it and now I'm hunting for an older version of what was once a charming smell. Mine was made in september 2016. What a shame...

Update: well...I can't stay away, apparently. I went back and bought it again. With the risk of overspraying, to feel this wonder...

LadyIva

I have already reviewed this fragrance, but I must now share with my fellow parfumistas my disappointment when I first saw it packaged in the new, uniform 'bee' bottle - together with Samsara, L'Instant, Idylle and Champs-Elysees. Now they all look like the Aqua Allegoria line... It's like each of these scents has lost a bit of their personality. :(

Katieg

A blind buy and not as interesting as I had expected after reading many many reviews. I wonder now if my bottle is the real stuff but I did buy from a reputable online retailer that I often use for toiletries and cosmetics. It is the Eau de Parfum but it says one thing 'soapy candied violets '. It's a really lovely smell but doesn't last as long as I expected either from an Eau de Parfum. Having said that I'm getting old and my sense of smell is no longer acute. I love Violet scents anyway and dislike Yardley's April Violets which has to me an a 'meat' or 'blood' note I cannot identify and Violettes de Toulouse which is avery ephemeral Violet. I was very excited when Lush brought out Tuca Tuca but the initial true Violet got drowned out by blackcurrant and it was a terrible clothes stainer! The old 'Devon Violet' sold I holiday souvenir shops was a maligned and overlooked Violet masterpiece. It was never credited to anyone and appeared usually as a bright green juice in a tiny bottle hand painted with a Violet flower. I hole the bottle I have of Insolence is genuine, Arabic script on the bottom and all as it's my Violet of choice. Unless it's Borsari's Violeta Di Parma, a delicious complex ramble for me down memory lane!

yzmo91

Insolence is something else, it smells unique and I feel like it smells different the first time you spray it on and five hours later. The Guerlinade is definitely there. The longer you have it on the sweeter it becomes. I feel that there is something that smells modern, almost metallic and 'serious' in this. It smells cool, nothing hyper, doesn't smell like a friendly person, but I like it.

EDIT: This fragrance turns out to work in colder weather only! I do not get the same excitement wearing this in tropical weather. The mysterious captivating cool violet cloud sillage is just not there. Which is such a shame, because I totally adore/am absolutely in love with this fragrance!

SuzanneS

The atomic violet.
The edp opens with berry syrup and candied violets. Its grape soda like and rich. Great sillage. Its modern, intriguing but also has depth like the fragrances pre-reformulation. If you are looking for one definitive violet for your collection, your going to be hard pressed to find something better than this. Its so much..too much... its great.

Mbrock

On me this is just powder and iris. Nothing trashy, or sexy or anything else everyone else is getting. I bought this based on the reviews on here but on me this is just a daytime scent you could even wear in church. Not edgy at all. I'll finish the bottle but Im not rebuying this. Longevity and sillage are great but I wasnt looking for a powdery innocent scent.

Ije Love: No. This is nothing like Lolita Lempicka. On me they are worlds apart and could never be mistaken for each other. I own both right now.

TillyWave

Insolence EDP is a blast, if you want a fun and sassy perfume this is it, and it is so much more than a fruity floral.

I find this to be an oddball combination of soap, fruit, and dirt. The violets are loud and smooth and feel like they are sitting in foamy clouds of bubble bath. But right underneath the violets sit an an earthy, woody iris, a hint of powdery vanillic tonka, and the burgeoning berry notes. The whole thing is just solid. I find the berry notes become stronger the longer Insolence sits on the skin, as kind of a cherry tart that is warming in the oven and becoming more apparent as it cooks. The farther drydown has a lot of sandalwood, dirty powder, and vanilla.

This is very fun precisely because it is not demure at all. It's not clean, yet it has the components of a fruity floral. I'm not always a fruit fan in perfumes but with the cherry berry + violet/iris/sandalwood combination it really works--it smells less like candy and more like a luscious dessert. In fact Insolence is like a Lolita Lempicka perfume put on steroids and worn by a flamboyant woman who likes loud dresses, big hair, and always has dessert after dinner.

Self-Propelling Fantasy

A bright and bracing fruity floral! It's a very pretty and fun perfume. Insolent? Not quite, but she is certainly vivacious. Lovely to wear on warm, rainy spring or summer days. It has a cool, dewy quality to it. Fairly big sillage, leaves a trail as you walk. Puts a bit of swing in your hips! Longevity is great, about 7-8 hours before I freshen it up. You can wear this day or night and it will make you feel cheerful. I don't recommend blind-buying this, as it is the sort of fragrance that isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Ije Love

I still this perfume similar to Lolita Lempicka in the least bit? Like would I ever get the two confused if I had it on? I have Lolita Lempicka and I don't like it.

Madrona

Very purple, sure. Dense, cold and soupy. I swear I smell blueberries. It's indeed somewhat... "trashy", like Violet wearing a leather jacket with fishnets and smoking a cigarette while chatting to Iris, who has bad hair extensions, big hoop earrings and a miniskirt. Hairspray, lipstick, eyeliner. I love it, of course.

ninelives97

Old school sillage and longevity... this is one of my signatures... if you like candied violets this is your juice. It's simple but not linear, sweet but kind of dark, classy but a little trashy, demure but also bold. To me these are all strong selling points. It smells purple then blue then lavender if that makes sense. Loud... then romantic... then Guerlain drydown... but still with candied violets smushed in your face. I adore it. And I always get compliments on it. But I can see it not being for everyone.

freebirdsoul

WOW this juice packs a punch.

A total blind buy, and I'm squealing with delight here.

At first sniff my mind instantly went to back in time to JOOP! - that super fizzy bubble-gum men's scent (anyone remember?!)

After spraying this on my skin and giving it a moment, I smell TONS of candied violets... And do I smell Alien?! A little Lolita Lempika??

This juice smells PURPLE. No doubt about it. I can see why some people say cough syrup. But to me it's atomic violets, sugary grapes, soft powder, gorgeous iris, warm vanilla and a bit of anise.

Insolence is not tame or well behaved. Rather, quite loud, on the verge of cloying - beckoning you to follow her but not come too close. Sweet, warm, and sexy, with just enough class to wear pearl earrings and meet the parents. ;)

I feel that you should try this before you buy it, I just happened to get lucky here. I do believe that if you love Alien, you may love Insolence.

Excited about this one.

Wooster97

Beautiful violet aroma!!tonka works really well with this floral heart, and of course is instantly recognisable

zipporahh1986

This was a blind buy for me. I wanted to love it so bad, but the powdery smell is too much for me. All I smell is extremely powdery violets. And, I agree with another poster, it smells a little like grape soda. It nauseates me and gives me the worst headache. I'm willing to trade, if anyone wants to. I have a 3.4 oz bottle, used about 4 times.

This one smells nice and soft, reminds me of the aqua de violetas body spray/splash sold in the supermarkets. its one of those scents that you can wear anytime.

I love this perfume SO much that I do own both the EDP and EDT, and I definitely have my feet planted firmly in the Team EDP boat. I'd say that if you have one, you don't really need the other, but if you love this fragrance or are crazy about violets just as much as I do, go ahead and knock yourself out. :)

The first thing you'll notice is that the EDT right off the bat has a lot of 'pinkness' to it; you can sense right away that it is a more youthful version, and the fluffier, girly frou-frou version of the two. In the EDT, you're hit with the candied hairspray note right away along with raspberry; it's not in the official note description but when compared with the EDP, the EDT has an unmistakable cotton candy (ethyl maltol) note. The EDP is more linear in its development, but is a lot richer and dense throughout its evolution; you get the powder and candied Parma violets right away, but it's also a lot woodier, darker, spicier, and deeper in every way you can think of. Both have an anisic powder quality to it, although it's more intensive in the EDP. The best part of both of these are the drydowns, as this really beautiful vanilla tonka bean note appears. The EDT has a more sugary renditiion of it, whilst the EDP has some more sandalwood to balance it. There is definitely an undeniable 'gothic' quality to the EDP that can also be sensed in Lolita Lempicka EDP. The EDP is more mysterious, yet campy and kitschy in her sexuality like Elivra, whilst the EDT is bubbly, ditzy, but still very composed, like Carrie Bradshaw out for a night on the town. The EDT in its drydown is more bubblegum-like and has less violet and more vegetal iris in its drydown, whilst the EDP is full-blown 'violets on crack', as ouch110 puts it. The EDP is more of a giant violet soliflore with every other note only acting as an accent to it, coloured a deep radioactive purple, while the EDT is the girliest of pinks, being the ultimate fruity floral.

On initial spray, the EDT and EDP seem to be of equal sillage and strength but in the end, the EDP is definitely better in both regards. Still, the EDT is very impressive for being an EDT.

Ok.... blind ordered this a few days ago because of the reviews saying wonderful things..... but only now i find out that someone finds it almost the same with kenzo flower. Please tell me this is not true cause i really hate that perfume. I'll have to wait for a week or so to find out what it really smells like, this is my last blind buy i swear,

Got it today :-/, don't like it at all, it smells like something is burning, it' soooo long lasting on skin imagine on fabric, just a small spritz on the wrist and it won't go away. It' worse than kenzo flower so who doesn't like it can't like this either, isn't sweet at all, i wish it was, not a secure blind buy

IoanaBrb

Strong scent, good silage and longevity. Adapts depending on the situation you are wearing it at. It can be elegant and sexy, it can be formal, it can be cheerful... Exceptional!

Matt Oldham

Incredible. So intensely trashy in the best possible way, even better than Ma Dame.

HyacinthBucket

@ bianca.rogoveanu

The bottle you have is clear so it must be the eau de toilette. The eau de parfum is in the amethyst bottle. That would explain why your recent purchase is weaker than your previous bottle. I hope you can return it for the EDP :)

on the noze

Do Guerlain EVER get it wrong?
Yet another masterpiece wouldn't you agree?

CMaingi

This is the first time a perfume has intrigued my senses. This is sort of perfumes dynamically changes from sweet to flirty and sexy and a mature aspect. It's kind like a lady who is modest in public and kinda flirts with and you but is also a sexy with a somewhat freakiness to her.

bianca.rogoveanu

Can't believe Guerlain reformulated this masterpiece and turned it into pure water ! I've heard rumors of a reformulation, but I couldn't believe it. The house only said they will redesign some bottles, which they did, the actual bottle is completely clear. But they didn't mention changes in composition ! No more violets, only something candy sweat, cheap smelling. I put 5 spritzes on and until I get out of the house it's gone ! I've had it back in 2012 when with 1 spritz I could have easily suffocate people around me.
I payed a lot of money for a 100 ml bottle, and I immediately returned it. SO disappointed.
My bottle was manufactured in 02/2016.

EllenD1991

I'm in two minds about this one. I blind bought it after my friend told me I'd love it as it was smelt like one of Mugler's perfumes (which I am a massive fan of), and when I saw it on sale for £26 for 30ml I thought I'd better give it a go.

The main smell I get initially is VIOLETS. One spray is a big burst of intense purple craziness. I can also smell the red berries prominently aswell. I think, as a blind buy this is not a good idea... as you will have to really be a fan of strong violet notes, although this is more like a song!

The drydown however is more soft and unassuming, I actually don't mind it, it smells powdery and almost like that smell you get when you go into a church... not sure if its incense, frankincense or what but it is subtle and has a luxurious feel.

Longevity for an EDP is actually quite poor with my skin chemistry, but is has the right amount of sillage to not be too "in your face". The bottle is cute and pretty and will look nice alongside my Thierry Mugler collection :)

All in all I would say this was a risky buy but I hope I will grow to love it.

phunkyvida

An unapologetic, loud bouquet that opens with tarty grape soda, then it evolves in to candied violets soaked in strawberry & raspberry syrup the dry down smells powdery but not in a baby powder way. This is obtrusive and obnoxiously potent, but undoubtedly a gorgeous interpretation of violets in modern perfumery and you can't ignore it. It sort of reminds of of Poison by Dior and Alien by Mugler.

It does smell amazing with my body chemistry but I think it would suit an older woman better than me.

labradorite

The initial spray is a punch in the face. I love it. I often find overly powdery fragrances boring, but trust me, not this one! It opens very fruity and I admit it was an odd mixture at first given the combined freshness of iris as well, because the violet in here is just so strong, it ends up overpowering everything. In about half an hour it softens, sweetens up, and within a couple of hours it settles into this comforting blanket of candied violets. There's some of the sandalwood in there but more the tonka beans, it's really a tame version of my original impression.

It's not a perfume for everyday use, and it's definitely worth to try if you want to be impressed by a violet based perfume. Sillage and longevity are amazing, both outstanding. A little goes a long way with this.

Sniezel

I used to wear and love this years ago, but kind of forgot about it because it didn't last on me. I remember re-applying Insolence like three times a day in summer heat (which is remarkable, since body warmth really amps this one up), because the scent would completely disappear. A few months ago I repurchased with high hopes. I fell in love all over again and noticed it stayed on me for a whole day without re-applying.
I now own a small EDP (1oz) while years ago I bought several 1.7oz bottles in a row like it was water. I now know that was the EDT. Make sure you purchase the purple bottle, not the pink one. The EDP lasts extremely long and sillage is amazing. It's all soft, powdery violets but has a strong presence. Some might detect baby powder or laundry detergent. For that reason do not blind buy this. If you're a sucker for violet like me (it's my absolute favorite note in perfume, can never go wrong, I blind buy literally every perfume that lists violet and/or violet leaf), go and get this right now 'cause you're missing out on the best stuff ever!

Endlessly seductive violets!!! The perfect description of this heavenly perfume! It's beautiful!!!! Such a gorgeous violets, powdery, gentle, yet rich and intoxicating. It's totally superb. Absolutely wonderful! Elegant, chic, feminine, deep and mysterious. It is my signature scent. I fell heavily in love with it the very first moment I smelled it. That was about 3 years ago, and I've been as in love with it ever since. It makes me feel so seductive! And chic! It lasts extremely well........I can smell it strongly all day, and even in bed at night. My husband, who doesn't love many perfumes much, adores it on me!!! And I get huge compliments!!! It's my beloved beloved perfume.
And I adore the bottle, especially the fabulous colour!!! What a glorious purple!!! I love everything about Insolence - it's heavenly!!!!!

Insolence EDP Review

Like getting knocked in the head w a steel bat covered in nuclear Violets. My head is buzzing and the violets and iris dance around my body like cartoon butterflies and birds. Love.

As I come to from my near knockout, I look around and see I've been transported to my early childhood. Two memories intertwine. One, is me standing in the bathroom with my mother watching her style her hair after exquisitely applying her makeup. Her perfume hangs in the air like an aura. She finishes her hair with a profuse mist of hairspray. The cloud swirls around and down, filling my nostrils. The second memory is specifically my first grade classroom. I've never smelled Apres L'Ondee from the bottle but as many reviewers mention Insolence as a homage to it, I can only guess that my first grade teacher must have worn it, heavily, for this scent memory to claim me so vividly. Thankfully it's all happiness. I love this fragrance. It is beautiful, intense and I'm surprised and happy with the memories. It's extremely long lasting. Great sillage. This will be a part of my permanent collection.

VioletDream2

This scent is divine! One of my signature scents, because I can't just have one. Violet is the dominant note for sure with berries and powdery iris. Sweet, lush, candied violets, very feminine, lush and ladylike. This is not sickeningly sweet though, it's a sweet that has a hint of watery aquatic cool dewy vibe (like the water element the violet flower belongs), powdery, but it's potent and strong in the must inoffensive way to the senses. It's voluptuous, luscious. Violets is a Venusian flower and roses. Violets belong to the water element. Also it's a Pisces flower which is a very mysterious and spiritual sign and I love that aspect of the violet scent in itself. This is certainly a ultra feminine, mysterious scent. Anytime I want to smell like a mysterious, Venusian woman in all her glory I spray this on or anything with dominant rose! Gorgeous scent. I can't imagine anyone not liking it or it offending anyone, my boyfriend loves it! Guys will love this on a woman, if he likes his lady sweet, lush, ladylike and feminine with a touch of elegance, and charm this scent is sure to please.

Score: 10/10

Wow what an amazing power fragrance of violets and berries!

This is a violet explosion and it has the sweetnes of berries that gives it va va boom!
Wear this with caution or just gay abandon, the name gives it justice it is like flipping your finger and doing what you love in life and fighting for a cause.... i might just have to put people in their place with insolence!!

In my wardrobe with other Guerlain fragrances!

ibibonica

It's a bit odd on my skin, violets and only violets for the first hour and then incense, and it's not even listed, strange but I love it, finally a perfume that stays longer than 6 hours on my skin.

noirmoi

Violets, violets, gorgeous sweet violets!!! Such a beautiful, perfect, strong, violet perfume, Insolence Eau de Parfum!!!! It's divine!! Perfection.

Perfumedsecrets

You really have to love violets in order to wear it. I used to be turned off by the smell of them in perfumes because they come on so strong and harsh in some brands, but they blend so nicely with iris, berries, tonka bean, and sandalwood in Insolence. I love the drydown. The bottle is a beautiful shade, but I don't understand the design. I neither love it or hate it as of now, but I need to research the idea behind it and the bottle designer. I think what I love about this perfume is it reminds me of a time in the 90's, my grandmother's backyard that was lush with violet and iris flowers, and one was incredibly sweet smelling like candy violets and powdery iris. I've never smelled a flower as lovely since then.

curdie

I love Insolence, it's the most divine violet perfume I have ever smelt!! Strong and beautiful, with rich and powdery iris, lovely berries and a tang from the orange blossom, and the most gorgeous base of creamy sweet sandalwood, and tonka - it's a luminous creation. Full of mystery, magic and delight. Strong, long lasting and vibrant. So feminine and luxurious, and absolutely splendid!!!

Germany

Review below , this fragrance is one o my strongest fragrances lasting days on clothes and my skin still smells strong in the morning. Maybe you got a fake or a sinus cold but new or old it's all the same! Strong fruity violet perfume at its best. I have EDP and edt and enjoy them equally. One of my all time favourite perfumes.

kikikikris

Insolence is not insolent at all! The 2016 batch is so weak I may need to bath in it to get to smell anything.
Can't believe Guerlain would do this. Beware!

Right, back to the scent. On me it opens with violet and red berry which is beautiful. If only it stays this way all the way. Anyhow, this phase disappears quickly and followed by violet candy-iris combo which makes it smell like powdered violet candy. This stage stays for 3-4 hours and then disappears altogether. That's about it.

I blind bought this wishing for the real insolence. Not the watered down one. Disappointed.

lovewitch

Beautiful strong luminous violet!!! Gorgeous!!!

mooninmyheart

I love this! Beautiful powdery sweeet violets - oh so pretty! It's just how I like violets, it's one of my favourite violet perfumes. Violets are very sensual to me, and this one is particularly so. So feminine and comforting. Very heady which I adore, and it has beautiful strong sillage, which I and my husband love, and lasts for ages.... I also get heaps of compliments, from all sorts of different people. I love it. Love it.

blake.lee

This is a must have for lovers of candied violets. It's over the top powdery, sweet violets! It's like crushing up violet candy into a powder and snorting it. I don't know why some people think it's sexy. It's the ultimate innocent, young girl scent to me. When I was a child my mother would let me use a strong violet water, with matching soap, but never an actual parfum. Perhaps, this is why I can't imagine this as sexy. I love it for what it is though...a big huge violet powder BOMB!

Farouhaa

Strong, sweet, heady violet..very elegant and feminine. I love this one and really enjoy wearing it. A classic beauty!
