I won this from a game at a baby shower.
I gave it away as soon as I smelled it. Definitely not something I would wear straight from the opening

strawbrrymelk

Grandma chic but in a good way

Tropicat28

I prefer the edp. The edt is more Jasmine heavy.

odminey

Smells like nice lotion. I sprayed it on my wrists and I keep thinking it's the smell of my hand cream.

I feel like Jean Milburn from Sex Education might smell like this on a work day. Cosy leathery laundry type of smell.

AdalynEverly

First Impressions (In Store):
So I smelled this on paper in Perfumania store. Is it just me or does it smell like Tardes by Carner Barcelona only maybe less refined? Like it smells more sharp and woody compared the Tardes.

ledossa

Might be the first perfume I’ve tried and truly loathed. The deodorant is great on the other hand and is what enticed me to try a sample of the EDT. Initially thought I received a dud because of how awful it was but other people have echoed exactly what I feel: this really does smell like bug spray. And no, it doesn’t get better at any point of its duration…

“Old lady smell”….?? Not even!! This is just disgusting.

Please just stick with the deodorant.

grapefruit352

Why nobody have noticed similarity with Sensai "The silk"?. They are really much alike! This lovely and addictive soft cashmere tint. Cashmere by DNKY has really oriental vibe, Japanese vibe.
The only fragrance from DKNY which I like.

luanneog

Opening was spicy? Like at first it smelled similar to the "unscented" version of OFF spray. But then it quickly turned into soft baby powder smell. Very delicate, white floral, fresh laundry. At the same time it felt warm, sensual, light but cozy. Clean and inoffensive. Maybe slightly vintage. Soapy in a not floral way. Creamy, velvety, safe blind buy. I liked it but at the same time I didn't.

Phyreece

I don't know what suede smells like. I do get hints of fabric and animalistic character from musk. Could this be suede? Aside from those, the jasmine note is unmistakable.

Samanthabdel

I chased some lady down to figure out what perfume she was wearing and she pulled this up on her phone. This scent is really cozy and clean. Perfect for office wear. The opening is a little spicy and pulls slightly vintage. Not sure if its the suede or what…not my favorite, but it only lasts like 5 minutes. The dry down however, to die for!!!! Im always looking for a Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo scent and the dry of this is the closest ive found.

PeacefulSunshine

Gentle and soapy. (I see people commenting frequently that perfumes smell soapy. That isn't a common occurrence for me, but this one definitely evokes soap to me!)

I wanted to like this-- I was ready and waiting to smell what I would imagine to be an Evenstar-like scent (just basing off the bottle shape and the notes in it)... but tragically, this is not it.

Imcheap17

Oddly smells like WD-40

iman.sallam.9

A sensual musky powdery leather that delights my nose and makes me feel like I'm wrapped up in the softest Cashmere shawl.
It can be pulled off by women over 35 but it's in no way an "old lady smell" nonsense.
Such a calming/relaxing scent.

downtomars13

I think this is so sexy! SO much better than the EDP. At first, I get the suede a lot. I don't like suede in fragrances, but luckily the strength of that note goes away pretty fast and fades really nicely. The suede is still there, but the powder overcomes it. And I LOVE powder. The reviewer who said this is suede that's dusted with baby powder is spot on. Like if you spilled a bottle of baby powder in your leather purse. This is so cozy and intriguing. All notes are blended wonderfully. Don't discontinue!

NoorbBelgium

This is a dry, warm perfume that blends nicely with the scent of my skin. It's woody, yet comforting on me, and I prefer it in the winter. Obtains compliments. I really get the cashmere wood, suede, creamy vanilla, and delicate powder notes. During scent will keep me extremely warm this winter. Ideal for any occasion and completely non-offensive.

impressedguy

I think this one got discontinued. I got a bottle a few moths ago and now I can't find it anywhere. So glad I got it just in time. I really love it and I don't give a damn if this is marketed for woman. I adore wearing it.

AuthenticAF

This felt suffocating to me, which is weird i normally love suede and leather. I have no explanation as to why, but i really dont like it.
Actually i am not sure if i had the edt or the edt now that i think about it

XOXO_marcel

I keep changing my mind on this one. Some days it's the most beautiful scent in the world, other times it smells plasticky and cold. What an odd creature this is.

msmoleskin

Cashmere Mist isn’t a scent; it’s a vibe. this is SO comfortable and warm. it smells like laundry — but in a nice, clean, old-fashioned way, not in a “candy bug-spray” way. if my neighbors’ laundry soap smelled like this, i’d complain a lot less.

at first, there is a hint of something like melon or bubblegum, but it stays just out of reach, which is just as well, as i don’t like sweet perfumes and a true melon note would likely be a deal-breaker. i think this phase has something to do with the way the bergamot reacts with the slightly sweet vanilla. there’s also an opening funkiness which i think is the suede figuring itself out. this is definitely one of those perfumes which takes an hour or two to come together and reveal its true glory. but it’s also one of the ones which is most certainly worth waiting for.

when the suede and vanilla finally get comfortable with the powdery jasmine and lily of the valley, and the sweetness mellows into just a touch of honey, it’s all plush gold velvet and cream-colored fleece which keeps getting better until you’re left with morning-after pillow magic. <3

Heavenly Heather

I’ve been a fan of this fragrance for ages. It’s my cozy sweater weather scent. Beautiful soft suede, vanilla and sandalwood. The amber really starts to come through in the dry down and helps with its lasting power.

Fatima1219

Exquisite, nostalgic, and classy!

FireDragon76

Timeless, clean, classy and really good longevity and projection on my skin without being too sharp or overpowering in any way. I was relieved that the woody notes were hardly noticeable on me, since my skin chemistry doesn't love woody notes (except cedar) as much as I do.

Longevity 6+ hrs. It's regrettable that I've only just discovered this fragrance now that it's so hard to find in my area.

There was a tester and one fragrance to buy right behind it. I just didn't have the money today (low apprentice income). If I didn't have extremely dry skin and strictly had to prioritize 2x 500ml body lotion, I would've taken Cashmere Mist home with me.

If I can find it again in a few months or if I get lucky at the beginning of next year, I'm definitely buying Donna Karan Cashmere Mist.

LeaLush

This is such a beautiful comforting clean fragrance. Simple warm and inviting. I sprayed this on the inside of my elbow at my friends house just for the heck of it without giving it much thought and a while after this clean powdery soft scent kept teasing my nose whenever I moved my arm and I kept thinking what the heck is that smell??? Needless to say I immediately ordered one as soon as I got home because I couldn't get enough of this. The drydown is something special. I definitely have to try out more from this line!

jennyhatejazz

I wore this not long after it was released. There seemed to be nothing quite like it at that time, and I adored swathing my body in that powdery potion, ready for a night on the tiles. It had great sillage, as I recall. A friend gifted it to me at Christmastime. I came to gradually dislike it over time, and found my way back to my old favourite, YSL Rive Gauche, until I accidentally re-discovered the scent in the form of an antiperspirant called Mitchum, Powder Fresh (the pink one)! For ages I couldn't place the smell, but liked it. Then one day the penny dropped. I'd go as far as to say it's a dupe that's so indistinct from the DK stuff that I think Cashmere Mist lovers would adore this cheapy!

ayalacyc

Beautiful and non-offensive. I feel pretty wearing this perfume. Perfect for the office or casual social gatherings. I will buy again on sale not at full price.

impressedguy

I can hardly describe how much I love this perfume. I don't believe in perfume genders, so I wear this one myself with no regrets - instead I love its smell and the fact that I smell this way. I feel very confident in general so I pull this out with style.

I don't find this too sweet or too floral, the main note I get is suede which I love. The funny thing is that I don't really like the suede note in any other perfume but I adore it in Cashmere Mist.

I also have to admit that this perfume reminds me of a great friend of mine, it was her first perfume back in 1996. I loved it the moment I first smell it on her - it was quite stronger back then but the smell is still the same. Unfortunately she passed away really young, at the age of 39. This perfume will always remind me of her and the great time we always had together. This review is dedicated to her.

AutumnJewel

Cashmere amber musk … very comforting and clean smelling . Lasts for a decent amount of time on the skin and for quite some time on clothing. If you enjoy clean warm scents or soapy /powdery fragrances… give this a try.

paranoka

Safe, musky scent with not a lot of depth. Would smell good on anyone but not that exciting

Zethre

Lemony top notes (I think the way my brain is interpreting the bergamot plus flowers), almost but not quite lemon polish, something creamy/ velvety/ smooth, not quite suedey enough for cashmere or wool. Kind of sweet, like lemon mousse, but without any of the sharpness of lemon.
Odd. Not sure I like it. After ten mins or so it is almost headache inducing like cheap furniture polish. Almost reminds me of how the car smells after it's been valeted.
Hours later after rinsing it off I'm getting nice whiffs of clean cashmere, so the drydown is better.

venussansfurs

The sort of fragrance one applies on a snowy day in the dead of winter whilst wearing a fuzzy pullover and enjoying a cup of cocoa. A leather/musk comfort scent with a woody vanilla base that's very clean. Nothing elaborate...just a nice, warm scent-hug to help get you through the day during a difficult time of year.

90s kid

The scent story is just...Meh...
The bottle and packaging is more exotic and intriguing than the scent story itself. Cashmere Mist is probably one of the safest and unassuming scents anyone could ever own. It is a pretty and warm scent that could be worn by almost anybody and, it does not really attract any attention, at least in my experience wearing it. For me, the scent story does not evoke any memories or imagery or emotions of any kind, it is just something that I wear when I do not know what to wear. If it a color it would be probably be...beige. I was glad to have purchased it at a special sale. I would never pay full price for it.

winonahb

Stressful times have always changed my taste in fragrance until things improve. Cashmere Mist smelled enchanting to me for a short time. I think I wanted it mostly to figure out why I suddenly liked the smell of suede dusted with baby powder. My curiosity didn't last. Soon it reminded me of the partner I wanted to get away from. The scent is...safe. It's not surprising in any way, doesn't hold my attention, and on me, it simply faded without evolving. I left it along with a lot of other things I could live without with the person I needed to feel safe from.

GirlOnFire

A warm, soft cashmere creme sweater in front of a burning fireplace. Skin. A well-made leather belt or purse. Suede. Low-hanging fog. Breezes blowing through some wintery trees. A comforting hug.

hivesofbees

Leave it to Nicholas Calderone to make a cashmere wood fragrance I can actually get behind. On me this reads as a lily-forward white floral bouquet set against a softly animalic backdrop. Powdery, cozy, dreamy. I understand what other reviewers are picking up as musty (the suede note I believe) but to my nose this actually takes the fragrance in a gently chypric direction I can appreciate. For my age group (I was born in 1992) this is likely to remind of our mothers’ generation, and it IS an extremely 90s composition, but one that retains a certain plushness of 70s & 80s powerhouses. Dated? Perhaps, but also evidence our Gen X moms have dope taste B-)

Arctic Mom

This was my signature scent when I was pregnant with my son. I like the edt better than the edp. Even though I dont wear it much anymore I will always have a bottle just for the memories.

TwoPetals

Cashmere Mist is the epitome of minimalism and elegance, introduced by Donna Karan's design genious, which took New York and the rest of the big urban areas in the country by storm at that time of the 20th century. I was living in NYC in the 90s and remember when the perfume was popular. It gives me so many lovely nostalgic feelings about that era, being in my 20's living in the greatest city in the world. To me this is one of the fragrances that represent dreams and hopes. I will never be without it.

semperfii

a like but not a love. this shit is very strong lol. like u will not escape it when u spray so be ready for that. also everyone will smell u. it’s an alluring and dark fragrance that i really do enjoy. i wear it in the morning on a winter day lol. i love the way it smells outside specifically, it meshes with the winter weather perfectly 😍😫. not a safe blind buy it’s a sharp cashmere/leather/spicy kind of scent u may hate it 😩 it’s not very feminine but it has a clean clothes clean vehicle kind of smell & when it settles on skin girl yum😍😍 winter tho.

mhobol

This is so nostalgic to me. My go to when I want some cozy comfort, especially in autumn/winter. The scent is musky, cloudy, kind and very beautiful. I usually spray a good amount and then tuck myself into a big scarf. It is as if snow was warm.

fire2heart

Such a comforting scent. It's soft and gentle but also has lasting power to go the distance.

I wear it on days that my depression gets the better of me. When I need to surround myself with comfort and kindness. I put this on, get into my favorite pajamas, get a nice cup of herbal tea, curl up in bed and play Stardew Valley with my cats next to me.

AlexandraM19

A comforting, creamy. sensual cloud of goodness. My mom wore CM when I was growing up and now, as I’ve emerged into adulthood, I’ve grown to love it too. It makes me happy to know so many others appreciate its beauty.

CM longevity is great. Lots of scents fade fast on me but I can smell this lingering hours after application. Evolves beautifully on the skin.

Translates easily from work to a cozy date night. Wherever you wear it you will just smell beautiful.

MrsLang

This is the best example of a classy fragrance without being too matronly. I'm 36 and would easily wear this daily. It has the boss woman-ness of YSL's Libre minus the lavender, and just the right amount of powdery-clean scent. Usually, my body chemistry picks up on the vanillas, musks, or powders, and they overwhelm the other notes, however no note is overpowering in this scent to me - all blend for a lovely, classy scent that can be worn by many ages. Well done.

Cherihanei

I am a 24 yrs old woman and let me give it to you straight. It is a pleasant and clean scent. Tolerable and somewhat basic. HOWEVER, for this price, you should know : it smells exactly like if Nivea had released a mist perfume.
It's indeed very cashmerian and a little sweet (vanilla kind of sweet). Like many comments stated below, it is also quite powdery in a heavy, pounding way. You get tired of it pretty easily. I don't get any of the florals listed, which is sad because it would've probably add space to this perfume, like create a fresh aery territory to allow all this cotton to expand. Above all this comfy Nivea waves of cream, you get that little tingle from the bergamot but that's as far as it goes. For the price, it definitely isn't worth it. I swear you guys it is literally the smell of Nivea lol I can't.
It lingers on the skin for something of 3-4 hours. Very weak sillage and projection.
Don't recommend... blend a Nivea with some jasmine oil you'll be good.

mirrorghost

i get a lot of musk, cashmere wood, vanilla and some lily and a slightly animalic jasmine in the background. i've definitely smelled this on people before, but never knew this was it. i like this but the musk/woods are a bit intense on me. i have similar scents where vanilla is more prominent and smooths it out some, so i enjoy those more personally. that being said, i think this is perfect on the right person.

pamplemousse2

When I first sprayed this I thought 'wood' and 'unisex'. Immediately spraying it, I got a slight bit of a bug spray smell, but it left very quickly. There is bergamot adding some freshness to it. The wood, as has been mentioned before, is like a sauna wood smell. It has a powderiness to it, but warmth as well, and not too baby powder-y. About 5 minutes in and it starts to really smell leathery. Especially smelling my wrists, it feels like I just wore an expensive leather bracelet or watch on them. To be honest, it makes me think of a saddle for horses, too. This reminds me of Clean White Woods, but with more powder and suede.

After about 10 minutes, it starts to smell more powdery, but still warm. The powder makes it lean a bit more feminine to me now. This is a cozy scent, like you're wrapped up in a sweater and warm in a cabin in the middle of winter. The suede note is a bit much for me, which is why I prefer White Woods, but I get a similar vision from that fragrance as well.

Around 30 minutes in and it's no longer very powdery. The sandalwood and cashmere wood blend with the musk and suede more. I think of 'beige' when I smell this. It sits on the skin and smells like your skin+wood and leather. I have yet to really smell the white florals or vanilla really. The scent seems to continuously fluctuate on me over the next hour between smelling a bit more powdery, a bit more leathery, and mixed.

It's a fragrance that is definitely there, but quiet and subdued, like you're relaxing. Or like the quiet and warmth on a silent winter day or night in the woods, but you're safely inside. I suppose that's hygge.

Update: 2 hours later and this is definitely a skin scent and has gotten less strong, but absolutely you can still smell it on your skin. It's no longer very leathery, but is a warm powdery woodsy amber scent.

4 hours later and it's dropped off a lot in strength, but is still there if I smell for it with my nose to my arm.

Update 2: Wow, 11 hours after applying, I can still smell this faintly on my skin and I don't have to try too hard. The scent hasn't changed either. By now I have to shower it off, but would be interesting to see just how long this could last.

cooke.84

It opens with a bite from the Bergamot and settles into the suede, leather, and sandalwood. While there is a warmness to this scent, a clean and interesting musky spice, on my skin it falls flat. I wish I could smell the jasmine and vanilla more. Someone below compared it to the warm wood smell in a sauna - it is kind of like that but even dryer. I might be tempted to try this perfume as a layer but the sillage is poor. I had to put on quite a bit to even smell it on myself.

Wwoman

Ok. So I can see the scent of luxury they were trying to go for here with the cashmere, musk, and suede, but this fragrance fails miserably with my body chemistry. It smells good at first, but then settles into something quite artificial smelling (in a bad way). Then after just a few minutes, it seems to disappear completely leaving nothing but the faintest warm skin scent behind. (I am not a big fan of skin scents.) The first time I tried it I reapplied thinking it was just naturally not very pungent, but the same progression happened again. I'd like to love this based on the notes, but honestly, I'd say buyer beware. If you try this in store, wait for quite a while before purchasing to make sure it doesn't react like it did with me. Not a blind buy - test it carefully first.

diamondbottles

This perfume has been a liar to me. I smelled it in the store and was hooked, it smelled wonderful! Fresh! clean! I fell into the devil's schemes and spent my precious few dollars on this ugly beast. (Even the bottle looked suspicious but i was bewitched)

I got home and sprayed a few times from my bottle and was horrified.
Oh god, what have i done?!

I smelled a disgusting offensive smell, an ugly sweet pretentious smell that tried to be 'luxurious', 'soft' and even 'feminine'. I saw all the booby traps this one was trying to set, but this time, while it was too late, i could smell the sour truth mixed in with the synthetic sweetness.

Don't buy! She's the devil! A liar! I'll sell this wicked bottle because she is cursed! Run! if you don't want to smell like a mom who got pooped all over by here new born baby and already happened to have a cheap toilet vanilla perfume sprayed on her sweaty top (this scent is a horrific combination of both synthetic sweet and sour poopy) then escape while you still can!!

gr8belief

I received a sample of this scent in the form of a deodorant stick. It is the nicest deo I have ever used as it works well and it has a quiet but persistent presence. Decided to try the edp and it seems so different. Have repurchased the deo several times but didn’t buy the edp.

indiglo

If I do the olfactory equivalent of blurring my vision and just get a glancing waft it's kind of nice, but after wearing it for awhile honestly there's a note in there that doesn't sit right with or on me. The cashmere wood or possibly the suede I'd guess. It just feels a bit "off" and "not me".

lillasheeba

I just love this sent during the winter. It reminds me of the smell of the wood in a sauna. The wood smell warm even if the sauna isn't on. Warm wood and warm skin.

CypressSnow

This is for the current version. Old-timey soap and musk. Not my cup of tea.

Celine100

On me, CM is a nice but non-distinctive fragrance. There are no notes that seem to predominate. Even though I sometimes wear it, I consider that I probably wouldn't recognize it on another woman. Unlike the nutmeg of Organza or the moss of Mitsouko, nothing commands attention here. Of course, sometimes that may be your desired goal.

DrRosie

I tried the perfume several years ago and did not like it. But, the deodorant is a different gem. All the women on my family only use this deodorant because of me. I purchased it once and have not used anything else since. It is a bit expensive for a deodorant, however, well worth the price.

Lyss2016

Smells sort of powdery and gave me a headache shortly after applying. I hoped maybe it was just timing, but smelling it seven hours later immediately brought my headache back. On the plus side, one spray lasted that long!

Anamandy

I concur with all the positive reviews of this scent. Years ago, when it first came out I purchased a rollerball of the edp and wasn't crazy about it. Actually, I couldn't really smell much of anything except alcohol. Recently, a friend gave me a sample set that had this, the edp, Aura, and Liquid Nude. This must be reformulated because this and the edp now smell wonderful to me, and so does Liquid Nude. (I haven't gotten around to testing Aura yet but that's next on my list.)

This is so soft, powdery, creamy, and warm. I love the suede note; so lux. Silage isn't a bomb but I'm always aware it's there giving me a very clean, comforting vibe for hours and hours. This is a for-me scent. When I need a little comfort this is what I'll go for. Oh, and as is in the edp, the sandalwood is gorgeous!

sibaraa

This is beyond exquisite!! The classiest perfume ever. It's so romantic, Makes you think of that romantic movie castig richard gere and wynona rider. It opens up with the softest powdery suede floral. The white floral is so soft and quite ofcourse. The Jasmin comes from my country, no wonder 🤣

Linda JK

I tested Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist (EDP) years ago and absolutely loved it. I didn't purchase it then since it was pricey.

I have a few of her other fragrances that were more within my price range since I bought them on sale.

I LOVE this perfume. I've had it on for about 4 hours now and can still smell it particularly on my top.

It's best to use a light hand with this one because it opens strong and has the capacity to overwhelm.

This fragrance is powdery and warm and you can detect the woody notes in the dry-down.

Like many other people, I despise powdery perfumes intensely (especially when combined with jasmine), which is why I almost passed this one by. But the powdery note in CM is very well balanced with the other notes (including jasmine), so the powdery note doesn't overwhelm.

CM also has a soapy smell-- so it's perfect to use right after a shower on clean, moisturized skin. Again, this is a good reason to use a light hand, particularly with the EDP.

Perfumes that have a combination of soapy, powdery and floral/citrus notes can be a huge miss when over-sprayed since they become cloying and monstrous especially in warm/hot weather.

But not with CM. It's sensual and clean, with a warm, creamy dry-down. I doubt this will last beyond the summer as I find myself wanting to use it more than my other fragrances.

I can see myself using this fragrance year-round given it's fresh, clean, floral opening and soft dry-down. But I would definitely use it during the gloomy winter months when I need something to lift my mood.

I feel this is a safe blind-buy especially for those who like powdery, soapy florals. You might want to test both the EDP and EDT, as some may favor the EDT more given how strong both can be.

If you are not yet ready to splurge on DK's Cashmere Mist, consider Perfect Scents' version of Cashmere Mist which you can find on Amazon. Many feel it's a very close dupe, others don't. Either way, you have nothing to lose when you pay less than $10 for a 2.5 oz flanker.

I absolutely intend to use the dupe more and sparingly layer the authentic one so I don't finish it so quickly.

msginsling

Anyone who sprays a perfume smells it and immediately cobbles together a review should not be trusted! Leave this for a good 30 minutes to allow it to dry down and fully develop before you even think about smelling your wrist/neck/elbow crease.
This smells quite harsh in the bottle but dries down to reveal pleasant warm ambery notes. On very warm skin the sharper floral notes sparkle and the amber moves behind it.
The musk is more dark civet than white (which kills my sense of smell almost immediately) and strangely this smells different on my wrist compared to behind my ears where it is delightfully elegant:floral and fresh and like nothing I've smelt before...
Things I don't get from this juice Powder, vanilla (which to me always smells of damp), milk or almonds.
A couple of hours in, the juice sits close to the skin and is till very pleasant.
Suitable for lots of occasions.

MeanSuga

Cozy, fluffy ,creamy.
It`s a natural skin musky , yet clean concoction.
Sexy leather and musk, innocent in the lily of the valley ( which is not overdone ), and seductive sandalwood and amber.
Perfect for the winter months.
I find it akin to Bijan Nude in the overall feeling it envelopes me in.
One of my Besties wears this as a siggy scent.
I had not tested this in decades until today - I very much like it, but having Bijan Nude in my wardrobe and saved for only those cuddly snowy days, I will wait until I am out of Nude before I invest in DK Cashmere Mist.

I love this fragrance so much! Especially when it is very cold, it is warm and comforting. Definitely one of my top 3 if not 2 for winter

fabiola1272

I usually go for the sweets but I wanted this & received as a gift not too long ago . First thing I thought when I smelled this was that it smells very lady like . The first spray is very sharp but then calms down real quick , becomes very creamy , like a lotion , at the same time it has that “ clean” note as well , so to me this is one of those right after a bath smells ; a little soapy , creamy , yet warm , cozy .
All that being said , I have found just one squirt of this works best on me , reason being that suede note gets too severe & harsh for my tastes - it’s funny because to me this can go from lady who smells really pretty to almost a smell like Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom mixed with a lit cigarette , not something I find appealing at all .
I find this classy yet casual . Cozy but not a vanilla & amber bomb at all . I can see how this can be taken as a “ grown up “ scent .
I will add that this is a scent that doesn’t seem to be found offensive to others at all , as long as it’s just that one little spray .

lmwimsatt

I one of those that cant stand this smell in any quantity. I just smell generic bad febreeze
Update: I have the eau de parfum my bottle is transparent, rather than the translucent picture above of the toilette. I do not kbow why they dont have a seperate page for the parfum. Maybe is the same notes only stronger. But if that's not the case, and they are different, maybe that's why I dont like the parfum when the toilette is so popular

louiee

So fresh, so clean and so comforting. Nothing stands out in this scent but the purest softness. I dont understand how you can not like this. For me its feminine and elegant in every possible way. Silage i moderate, longevity is great. Fluffy as a clean cottonball

Blushpinkpeonies

My hubby (then boyfriend) bought this in the edp version for me when we went shopping at Macy's together, ten years ago. My bottle is still 2/3 full, so it's obviously not a huge love. But it's a solid "like." It's clean and comforting, feminine and almost maternal. The edp is potent and has longevity. It can be too much at times, too much musk and sandalwood especially. And I'm not a big fan of the suede note. Probably not blind-buy safe. I do think it's an iconic scent that was way ahead of its time.

yguess

I bought this cause it was time for something new. A friend used to wear it, and it smelled wonderful. This perfume doesn't love me the way it did her, but is still nice. I would primarily wear to office, powdery, soft, cozy, sweet. However in the middle stages of wearing this, something strange happens and ruins it for me.

CamilleMarie

My mom has worn cashmere mist for as long as I can remember so my opinion may be a bit biased. This is perfectly named as it is wonderfully soft, warm and cozy. I seems like a bit of a unicorn amongst 90’s fragrances, not an oriental silliage bomb or citrusy fresh. I really like this but don’t imagine it for someone my age (30’s.) Perfect all occasion scent for women 50+.

jg2758

This smells like women who are a generation older than me, back when I was a kid. Some people might like the nostalgia, but I never have liked the scent. My nose hasn't changed.

vioversilver

This smells very feminine , warm , soft & very comfortable , yet clean . It’s a scent that my fiancee doesn’t mind because many scents out there give him a stuffy nose & even an instant headache - he likes this & I love it , so it’s a win win . I feel like this is all me ‘ cause I love warm vanilla creamy scents. This to me is a skin scent all the way . As noted it’s very inoffensive , yet delicious & very womanly in every way .

LenaT

Smells like baby powder. I prefer to smell like a woman.

SJames92

This ended up becoming my signature scent just because I kept reaching for it without even realising it. It's so soothing, calming and comforting for me. It reminds me of a warm cozy white sweater you put on when you need some comfort. Perfect for any occasion and very non offensive.

Karen284

I had been looking for a scent like this but I didn’t know it existed! I was looking for a powdery, woody, vanilla scent. A powdery scent that smelled a bit like baby powder but more feminine, soft, woody, clean and sexy. I fell in love at first spray & even wore this on my wedding day. When I wear this, I feel very feminine - It’s a soft, in offensive sent that hugs you and feels very luxurious. I would love to wear this everyday but it feels like a treat, and I only wear it when I really need to feel feminine or on a special occasion or a weekend outing. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

joiedevivreh

When I was a child/teen, I HATED this fragrance. Oh, how that's changed!

In my younger years, I loved fruitchoulis and fruity florals, and had a strong aversion to everything musky or woodsy. I have always - and will always - avoid powdery fragrances... except for this one.

Cashmere Mist starts out with a strong burst of something synthetic, almost like cleaning products. However, it quickly morphs into something soft and powdery, almost like the scent of baby oil with a little more sophistication. Eventually, it fades into something very warm and woodsy. I can barely even call this fragrance sweet - it's all musk and suede. A lot of people have commented on its longevity and sillage. If you find this fragrance in spray form too powerful or the top notes too aggressive like I do, then I recommend getting this in rollerball form. It still maintains longevity but still closer to the skin and lingers in the warm, soft, fuzzy range much longer.

It truly evokes the image of a classy woman in a soft cashmere sweater holding a cup of tea by the fire on a cold, snowy but sunny winter's day. I tend to wear this before bed or when I know I'll be home most of the day but want to smell good.

.......And yes, this is the poor man's Artemisia.

RachelGrigg

Hmmm a blind buy roll on for a fiver at tkmaxx. Apologies to all of you who love this but I get hairspray and scented sanitary towels I had when I was fourteen. Headache inducing. I wish i could love but this is getting gifted on.

Mbrock

Im shocked at the longevity & sillage on this. Its a very rare perfume I can smell all day & dont feel the need to respray. I didnt expect it from this since its a softer scent. It smells lovely. Flowers but toned down with cashmere & seude. A very impressive perfume the I will keep buying.

Shadow_Witch

Everything Soofiya said, and a little more. Cashmere Mist is a new fragrance to me. I scored a 100 ml EdP half-full at a thrift store. I sniffed it and didn't think much of it and put it away in my fragrance cupboard. The other day I pulled it out and decided to wear it before dropping it in my donate bin. Boy am I glad I did. Firstly because it works incredibly well with my body chemistry. Secondly, because I feel "comfortable" wearing it. It smells like "me". Although everyone describes it as "office appropiate" -and it is, however, it drives my husband wild. He loves it on me and keeps asking me what it is that I am wearing, and then tells me how SEXY I smell. Cashmere Mist has that 1970s musky/natural thing that is very appealing. I am 49 and Coty Wild Musk has been my signature scent for 39 years. Cashmere Mist doesn't smell like Coty Wild Musk but, it has the same vibe and makes me feel good in my skin.

Soofiya

I believe cashmere mist is a classic and it's a shame how difficult to find it is here.I searched for it for a long time and finally I got a 30mil of it in a swap.I'm very glad to have it;on the other hand,I know that I'm not going to need another bottle.I don't love it,but It's a "like" for sure.
It reminds other fragranticans of penhaligon arthemisia.me too.but cashmere mist is more woody, less floral and I prefer it because it lacks the plastic violet of arthemisia
I'm not a fan of woody scents but cashmere is a rare woody note that I can tolerate and even like it.suede-musk-sandalwood-jasmine combo in cashmere mist reminds me lacoste pour femme.they're not dupes but they belong to same league.
Cashmere mist is warm, smooth, cozy and clean.I doubt that -25 girls of nowadays would appreciate it.
For me,it's wearable year round but if I have to name best season for wearing cashmere mist I'd say fall.it's a very office-appropriate fragrance.it has a refined, polite, simple but also classy, modest but also smart, serious but also kind personality and I agree that it's sort of motherly.while being a great office scent,it can also be used as a casual or formal daily or evening perfume.it's soft and non-pretentious so I won't choose it for a party but it can be nice for a date at home, inviting, comforting and trustable
All in all I like it,both it's character and it's soft and subtle woody-powdery scent.I believe I have a lot of perfumes in this genre, though they don't smell exactly the same, they make me feel the same and I use all of them in similar occasions:cashmere mist, lacoste pour femme, blumarine bellisimia intense, beyonce rise and Elizabeth arden 5th avenue after five(after it's first weird 10 minute).so I'm sure that this 1 oz bottle of cashmere mist would be enough for me.
Longevity is good on my skin.well,I expected it to be even better as most musky, woody scents last like a skin scent on me for ages but I have to be fair and not expect every scent to last more than a day.sillage is moderate at first, then it stays close to skin for most of it's life
By the way,it's not a white scent in my imaginations.sometimes I feel it's beige and sometimes a light taupe

sandrajj

This perfume is so very close to Ellen Tracy, it seems almost exact frag on me. I've compared the notes listed here, and find a few in common, but to me this is amazing that they are so very similar - longevity on both is beyond 12 hours and the sillage! OMG, both fill the whole house!

aura_therapy

There is something in this that smells like my local bowling alley, either the type of wood that is used to make the lanes or the sealant or wax that is used on the lanes. I wore it many times in an attempt to get past this association but it is so identical that I can’t unsmell it.

lmwimsatt

This is so nasty I can't stand it. Smells like air freshener

Perfumeroo

Just bought this at Macys. It's very feminine, with a soft sweet muskiness to it.It's subtle, no "spike in the nose" aldehyde blasts.
It doesn't seem to last very long on me, but I like this scent.

melange

Just a warm, enveloping scent on me; something warm lurking in the background. Quite non-descript, but very long-lasting.

meg0825

This is a very nice, light fragrance. It's perfect for daytime wear in the fall or winter. It's musky and woody with a light leather note. It reminds me of being wrapped in a soft, warm, and cozy blanket.

Piscean-Blue

Nice. Pleasant. Comforting in a safe generic-type sense. Doesn't come off as "cheap" at all and you're getting a lot for the price; but nothing profound going on here.

Actually I can see a number of folks being put off by it. First, some will certainly find it cloying. Second, it's a little too work-friendly. A bit too professional. Work-appropriate scents are fine only when taken so far. Frankly it could use more character. Less Stepford-Wife, more quirk.

But you know what- I'll give it to Cashmere Mist- It's potent, which is a big plus! Be forewarned: this is not a wimpy perfume (as is the case so much these days). If you like picks that perform well, this one's for you Honey.

Not for everyone but worth trying. Like I said: generic, but generic done well.

Starlett_Sexton

I love CM, This being such a soft fragrance u would imagine this would be more suitable for Summer too be honest this wear longer and too me smells better in the fall/winter months. Jus gorgeous.

Soozatska

I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone compare this to Manifesto! This has more muskiness to it, but the bergamot-vanilla-cashmere trine has a serious presence in both, especially during the drydown!! This is a bit "cleaner" as opposed to the aromatic nature of Manifesto. It's also much cheaper which is nice ;)

JamesAQ4

this smells nice. a strong nice, a strong like., A cashmere vanilla light musk. doesn't smell cheap. doesn't smell incredibly expensive/niche like. This reminds me of Macys for some reason. I'd expect a pretty makeup sales rep to smell just so.

Daisy143

Very feminine...soft...powdery. Sandalwood, suede with jasmine, and lily..A tiny tough of bergamot, add a little vanilla and you have a very feminine classic. Warm, comforting. I like this.

Nil3

A cashmere/wool sweater drenched in the classic Nivea cream.

The only perfume that gave me a nostalgic feel to my senses and wanted me to cry was Narciso Rodriguez, Narciso. That creamy white brick bottle.
Narciso is a creamy nostalgic musky gardenia.

This is a creamy nostalgic cashmere musky Nivea.
I can't find another definition than Nivea.
Maybe it's jasmine with the lily of the valley mixed with the leather and cashmere.
It's innocent and , oh so easily a signature.

That being said , ....Dude.....!!!! Never judge a perfume by its package and /or bottle.

A must have for me!

HighCountryEsq

I love Cashmere Mist. It has a great warm/comforting vibe to it and all the notes work great on me. Even though it came out in the 90's I still feel it is one of the best Fall/Winter fragrances and a must in any collection.

chinook

The top notes kind of reminds me of Elmer's non toxic glue. It makes me feel like I'm an elementary school teacher who's over enthusiastic about crafting. The dry down is kind of salty... how strange!
Update: on a second try, it's more syrupy and woody this time. It's raining hard outside and this is nice and comfy.

nenalovespurfume

Creamy, Powdery gorgeous scent! One of my all time favorites! I've purchased more bottles than I can count! Simply amazing!

over_caffeine

I got this in 100 ml EDP and I have to say it's the best of its class. Subtle but long lasting, sweet but not nauseating, clean but not sterile. It makes its presence felt yet it doesn't arrive in a room before you do. I spray it in the evening before bed and I could still smell it 6 hours afterwards. It's the type of fragrance that doesn't project, is safe to be worn in the car on a date or in a packed elevator. It is the perfect crowd pleaser; tempered but distinctive--classy fragrance you can wear from day to night. My only gripe is that the bottle is so bulky with its cap on so It's hard to bring around should I wish to refresh during the day.

lamariposa.bella

Does anyone know if this has gone through reformulations? I have tried this a few times throughout the years and never liked it at all. I recently received a vintage bottle and like it a great deal. Last night, nothing else would do. I am starting to think the fragrance has simply grown on me rather than it being a different version than before.

I normally prefer much louder fragrances like Guerlains, Knowing.... Orientals and Chypres. I do love woody musks, too, but normally they are bold and strong. This scent is so delicate and pristine.

I detect nothing synthetic on my skin. It is powdery which I also used to hate. I'm quite surprised at how much I like this now, after disliking it so much before.

Wearing this feels like wrapping up in a soft blanket on a comfortably cool night. I may even purchase a full bottle if this keeps up.

I'm finding the more perfumes I try and the more times I try something I typically wouldn't prefer, the more my tastes are expanding. Perhaps, it's similar to feeding my young toddlers every variety of food so to develop an appreciation for all types of foods and flavors. I'm enjoying my perfume journey to the fullest!

loveandrainbows03

Honestly, this perfume is a total scrubber. To me it smells exactly like Formula 409. Yes, the stuff I use to clean my kitchen. Not a fan.

lucia.lawson

Donna Karan New York American fashions are foreign to me and too youthful for me but since fragrance has no age, no gender, no social class, no labels at all, I was rather intrigued about what this classic Donna Karan perfume would smell like. Having no way of testing or sampling it from the UK I placed my order on Amazon.com and waited for it's delivery. I was pleasantly surprised by this scent. She is quite soft, like a thin little gossamer scarf, perfumed with a lemon scent as it opens, which then segues into a powdery white floral aroma of jasmine and lily of the valley, and concludes with dry notes of vanilla, sandalwood and amber. Absolutely beautiful.

The bergamot listed as one of the top notes to me is more of a lemon, quite delicious like lemon merengue pie, almost bordering on gourmand fragrance territory. The sweetness of the citrus eventually fades and the greenish-white lily of the valley blooms and becomes quite noticeable. The jasmine is also there, a heady and quite powdery floral scent. There is also a domestic air, like either talc powder or soap. As such it's refreshing and cozy, soothing, and rather like a luxurious soap that one lathers during a bath. It's a therapeutic milky white bath soap with citrus and florals drying into a light powder, vanilla woodsy base.

Very soapy and clean, emphasis on clean. Sober. Conservative. Lady-like. No nonsense. This is my kind of perfume! How is it American when it's as stoic and as reserved, quiet and refined as a British governess from the Edwardian era. A toilette floral toilet water with no pretentions at all. Middle-class luxury. This is now a fragrance I wear almost daily. I perfume my wrists and collar after my shower when my pores are open and when I have already dressed so that the scent can also penetrate my clothing. Unfortunately it's lacking in longevity and sillage so the scent, though rather good, disappears after only about 2 or 3 hours often less, and that's disappointing. I wonder if it's the product itself that is not working or I was duped and it's a knockoff. I often find myself having to put the perfume in my handbag and have to spritz multiple times during the day to keep the fragrance strong. Still, I'm satisfied with Donna Karan Cashmere Mist.

Tigi

I found a 3.4 oz bottle of the eau de parfum online for a steal and can't wait until it arrives sometime this week. When I placed the order on eBay, I hadn't smelled Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist for a couple of years, since my father bought a little gift set of this frag for my mother at Christmas time. In sampling hers, I found that my chemistry absolutely loves the cashmere wood note, and since my husband goes ga-ga for uber-feminine, soft powder notes, I know that this is an absolute must-have in my own personal collection.
Like Acqua di Gio is THE quintessential women's marine-aquatic scent, Cashmere Mist is THE quintessential cashmere-powder-musk choice. CM is, to my limited experience, the best example of fragrances of it's type.

brada

Beautiful, comfortable and very classy.Perfect in office.

aguschinita

I just got the deodorant and it smells magnifique. I'm wondering whether the perfume smells the same...

s2jkbrad

I love this classy, soft throwback! This is comforting like curling up w/ a blanket in front of a fire. It's soft but strong. On me the sandalwood and vanilla come out. Non offensive but not non existent.

Danibear

I am so disappointed with this perfume. I'm wearing a sample at the moment but all I can smell is lily of the valley and jasmine. It's quite pretty, but I'm really not a fan of floral perfumes.

colibri_classique

This is a beautiful, romantic fall/winter scent. It has pretty good longevity, I sprayed last night before going to bed and the scent still lingers on my skin. Very feminine indeed. I'm glad I decided to buy it (last year) after craving it for some time. The name and the bottle are what first got my attention to it, then came the reviews here and the sample. A really good buy. I would not use this in hot days, I tried that and it turned into an obnoxious soapy scent.

Burgundy Jayde

I loved this fragrance it is so soft and beautiful. I must get a bottle of it soon. It is a nice spring and summer perfume not too strong.

TaylerWestbrook

I first smelled this in Vanity Fair a few years ago and I loved it so much, unfortunately I had a hard time finding this, but my sister somehow found it and gave it to me for Christmas this year. It smells of vanilla and cashmere with a delicious hint of Amber.
However, I do not suggest buying this off Ebay or Amazon because you will probably get a cheap knock off that smells of alcohol and a nasty chemical scent. I learned this first hand when I bought this as a gift for a friend it smelled nothing like the one I got for Christmas. So, just be careful where you buy designer perfume from because you might get a cheap knockoff.

MadLynne

Cashmere Mist - I love this fragrance a lot. in the 90ies it used to be my signature scent for years. I had the entire line from body lotion to shampoo and conditioner just to wrap myself into this soft and feminine fragrance. I still love it today and use it from time to time to evoke nice memories. Still very unique if you don't count it's flankers and copies. Stunning bottle and packaging design, a modern classic.

circlecrew

Love this! Soft and beautiful. Can't get enough smelling myself LOL! Definitely the EDP is the best. For whatever reason the EDT has a sharpness about it that I simply cannot tolerate. Also, it is true that the Penhaligons Artemisia does smell strikingly like Cashmere Mist. The only difference is the PA gives me a massive headache. For the money, stick with the CM.

Nautigal

After years away from Cashmere Mist, I tried some on today at the fragrance counter. All I could think about was the days of taking care of babies! While certainly not unpleasant, it is definitely not who I am now. It's a great "Mommy" scent, powdery, soft and sweet. Time to retire the Cashmere for good and stick with the more outgoing fragrances that can stand up to teenagers!

cmoca

It's a peaceful scent you want to sleep in, and die in. I just wish it had less vanilla.

annxyz

There is an offensive chemical note in this one that I do not smell in all of the lovely CM flankers. It prevents me from purchasing . I do adore the CM flankers however . Since this is not a bargain and is primarily ( my opinion ) a skin scent , I am reluctant to shell out the price of a bottle .

One day I was at Wal Greens and passed the perfume dupes from "Instyle ". I figured they would be cheap smelling and poor representatives of a quality perfume. A few of them did not appeal to me. However , the dupe Instyle version of Cashmere Mist was utterly amazing ! It had all of the notes I loved about the original and NO STINKY synthetic note . It was truly a gem and I am enjoying it . I also could not believe how good the "Flowerbomb " dupe was because I thought Flowerbomb was too over the top for me. I also purchased it and receive compliments on them. I am quite surprised by both .

Estela B

Many years ago I moved to europe and would go back and forth due to work trips, so one of those boring days at the airport I tried this and it became my winter scent ever since. Because it feels like home, like reading a book under the blankets, It is a true passion for me. Longevity is moderate, good. I repurchased it two years ago and from now on it will have a permanent place in my humble collection.

wyrdlam

I received a decent-sized sample of this and have been wearing it for a few days. Upon first spray, it smells a little like warm floral soap. With time, I get a hint of vanilla, which I really like, but it faded away too quickly.

This scent smells almost fuzzy (if that makes any sense) from the woody and suede notes. They're the strongest notes by far and make me feel pretty cozy. I was worried about the musk being overpowering since I am sensitive to musk, but fortunately, it wasn't.

It smells feminine but also rustic. I imagine a woman wearing this in a winter log cabin, relaxing by the fire after a cold day out. It smells pleasant enough. It's not overbearing or smothering because it wears very close to the skin, as if you were wearing a light cashmere sweater. If anything, sillage is on the weaker side. Longevity is also weak, lasting about 4-5 hours.

It's a nice scent, but I also don't see myself reaching for this very often or buying a full bottle. It's just not for me. But if you're looking for a delicate woodsy suede, give this a try. 3/5

nadejda06

dream perfume for me. but we will seperate soon because its longevity is very poor on me. and sillage....mm not good. but the smell is so delicious! clean, just a bit sweet and soft. very feminine.

meliecat

Mmmmmm...This perfume just simply gets me puzzled. First of all in a way I agree with Konga5000, as for I don`t really know what it`s doing in my collection for the price I bought it for when I could have bought something else more flamboyant and lovely instead..I was at Debenhams with my friends and as we strolled around we just stood for a moment for a bit of a chat and before we moved on I looked over to one of the bottom shelves and I spotted a few bronze and silver perfume set boxes and one stuck between them. Somehow I instinctively pulled out the gold tone one and before I read the black letters on them I knew this is Cashmere Mist. My heart skipped a beat as I have been thinking about trying it for a week or two now, so to me this seemed destiny as you can`t really buy them anywhere over here these days..I was already covered with samples all over so I asked a friend to offer her wrist for testing the fragrant juice and after a few minutes of waiting we started sniffing - and a wonderful, comforting, elegant scent escaped from her skin! I was convinced, we headed to the cashpoint and I was in seventh heaven with my first bottle ever!
But then came the disappointment -arriving home and after shower I opened the box to try it myself and no matter how long I waited after drying all I could smell is leather, leather and more leather. Hours later a bit of jasmine appeared, but it didn`t do me any favors at that point. I was turned down.
At this point in time I am holding on to the bottle and I will be posting updates..

UPDATE: I still think there is some truth in comparing this fragrance to dryer sheets..But it is starting to grow on me. I started getting the cashmeran wood note now, although it doesn`t last long on me, and the powder mingled with leather stays on longer, especially the leather. The powder is somehow more baby powder than anything, and I tested it in different environments - including relative low humidity medical device cleanroom, where all scents come out way better than anywhere else - and yet the staying power doesn`t seem to be great..I had to reapply 3 times during my 8-hour shift and all it did is it `stayed close to the skin`..I really wish it was stronger! It might work better in warmer climate? Or is there an eau de parfum?

A friend of mine loves it though, she wants her own bottle now, as it is `a beautiful, elegant, graceful scent, one for a women of our age`. I think she is right, I`ll persevere, at least as long as my bottle lasts..

Konga5000

I'm sure my review will get pulled and I do not care.

This is a fragrance for morons.

This is a "mall" fragrance that smells like baby wipes and dryer sheets made with very cheap commercial ingredients.

This feels so cheap and shoddy that it CANNOT justify the price-tag. This should be $12.99 for a giant bottle at Ross or T.J. Dogbreath.

The REAL CRIME here is that for the price of this garbage -- you could buy something interesting by Guerlain or Bvlgari or Annick Goutal .

Yank me down now.

Daria_21

When I smell this from the bottle, it smells beautiful. Soft, clean, comforting. But when I put this on my skin, it is incredibly musky and animalic smelling, which turns me right off. I want to love this, but it has sadly gathered dust in my collection.

Nat001

I got a 6.7oz bottle of this and I know I will use it all because of how much I love it. This is a must have if you like clean and powdery perfumes. It is long lasting but it stays close to you. Perfect for an office perfume. Smells so clean it makes me feel like I just got out of the shower. It is not easy to come across perfumes that are long lasting and smell clean like this. This is definitely a classic in its category. Very safe blind buy. If you get a good deal like I did go for it!!! The bottle looks gorgeous in my collection. It is tall and all clear I just love it!!!

wildwestwoman

I avoided this fragrance for years. I finally tried it,,,I love it.
Soft and warm. Good for everyday wear.

Contessa01

I sampled this recently and realised a bottle I had been sent in the past was not genuine or had gone off so I completely had the wrong idea about this fragrance. I quite like it, and ended up purchasing a bottle. It smells to me kind of baby powdery. It's a comforting scent, probably not for everyone due to the strong powdery note.

Kai'elle

Lovely warm Amber/Cashmere. I find the floral notes hover in the background and don't come forward at all (unlike other peoples experience with this scent)

Overall is very comforting and cozy. Its inoffensive and quite simple. No hidden 'twists'. Though I do enjoy it as an after shower, snuggling on the couch type scent...I would not say that it has any 'wow' factor and I was disappointed in silage and longevity.

This reminds me at times of a weaker version of Hanae Mori (EDP) which I adore. I guess CM is just not living up to that.

Mirabele

I like this one a lot now. I didn’t a year ago, when I first tested it.

It is clean and minimalistic. Clean without cucumber or water melon. Clean in a sense of shower gel and body lotion/body cream type of smell. It is woody and musky in addition. Very comfortable, cozy, close to skin type of scent. I do not smell much florals, maybe only a hint in the opening, all I smell is woody musk. Not sweet. I quess I had no idea how much I like this type of scents. I think it is good in all these cases you want to wear a perfume and not supposed to or situation not allows to wear one, such like close spaces with lots of people, job interviews, hospitals or such. You smell like you had a shower and scentless body lotion, not more. At the same time you smell very good and it lasts very long. A hint of sandalwood, very slight vanilla and softest suede. And musk. I love it. To try for lovers of woody musk and subtle scents.

A very similar but much more expensive is Penhaligon Artemisia. Smells exactly the same to me. Well, that bottle of Cashmere Mist is not most glamorous bottle, especially not nowadays, it is rather very simple and not something you notice first. I quess it is all for people with minimalistic style, who doesn’t demand any attention but rather radiate quiet but persistent presence.

it is a good girl scent though. i could never have it as my only fragrance. i would get bored. but i definitely want a bottle in my collection.

Fragrance Review For Cashmere Mist

By Donna Karan

Top Notes

Middle Notes

Base Notes

Cashmere Wood Sandalwood Musk Amber Vanilla

Donna Karan is one of my all time favorite New York based American designers. Don't get me started. Her life story is an inspiration for women in business everywhere. This fragrance comes in a very artistic and beautiful bottle shaped like a glass flame on a torch. To me it's like the flame on the torch held up by the Statue of Liberty. The contents include fresh citrus courtesy of a bergamot orange, although I also picked up on the scent of lemon.

The opening is pure citrus although it's not heavy and the whole fragrance is toned down so it smells more like a toilette than a parfum. It's a light and enjoyable citrus. It smells like soap, very good soap that you put on during a long shower. There is also a bit of a resemblance to Oscar de La Renta, only with more pronounced cashmere wood and woodsy notes. And only a little more pronounced not heavy wood at all.

The lily of the valley and jasmine white florals are front and center in this show. If you like lilies and jasmine, this is absolutely gorgeous. They become a bit powdery and they smell amazing. The more I smelled it the more I liked it. It has a decent life of about 5 hours. The white flowers are the real stars. I received many compliments on it.

The fragrance dries down to sandalwood although one can also detect the scent of vanilla. It's a gorgeous and very well behaved perfume. Simple easy to wear including to work/office, and at the same time to a fancy dinner date. Very lovely.

Southern Blonde

I wanted to get to know this fragrance. I had a really weird experience with this scent because it was selling at a CVS drugstore LOL They had samples and although they had this labeled Cashmere Mist and they also had samples of Opium White Diamonds Angel and Juicy Couture it would appear they were impressions. The sample at the drugstore smelled like citrus and light florals and then musk. I wasn't impressed. But then again I did pick it up from a drug store. I then bought this online from Amazon.com for 46 bucks. Now I smell a more beautiful fruity floral scent. It opens with a bergamot orange but it's not a citrus bomb, just a sweet enjoyable orange. Then I could detect lily of the valley and jasmine but these are also very soft and powdery. There's suede and leather, musk and a touch of wood. It's not a boring scent but it's not complex. It's pretty easy to wear fresh and summery. It does feel like a scented veil or scarf. It's inoffensive and simple. It is suitable to wear at any time/season/day/night to any event. Pretty.

gtabasso

This is nasty. It is an ugly chypre.

Tovah

This was released in 1994. I know for sure because my first son was born that year, and this fragrance reminds me of being a mother of an infant and working in Human Resources in the corporate world of the '90s. It's a calming, elegant scent that takes me back to stressful days during changing times. I wouldn't wear this for years, but I believe I can wear it again now. It's very beautiful.

Amac24

soo lovely and warm perfect for fall and winter! also very classy and mature.. one of my favorites!

derkargy

@Paula80,there must have been a mistake considering the year of its release(1994!!) I wore CM at the early 2000,and before its release, the only Donna Karan I remember and was available at that time was the sadly discontinued Donna Karan and DK men(the black and gold sculpture, designed by St.Weiss).There was also a fresh, limited edition of the latter in a transparent bottle.
On the other hand,CM EDP that was launched a few years later,is more powdery with an intensified amber note.

Cindylu

I bought Cashmere Mist blindly, based on reviews and notes, and I'm not disappointed. It reminds me of how Shalimar smells on my aunt...soft and powdery. I don't get the warm, wintery vibe from CM, though. I get a beachy, ocean, summer smell or feel from it. I also detect the clean linen or cotton note some have mentioned. It's definitely a light, fresh, year-round scent on me. Body chemistry is everything. (Btw, Shalimar smells like chemicals on me. So, I'm glad to find something that reminds me of how it is SUPPOSED to smell!)

Hippo Princess

Soft, powdery woods and gentle floral undertones create an aura of creamy light beige goodness. It is indeed similar to my beloved Artemisia; both are beautiful, soft, and innocently coy fragrances.

I would wear this in late autumn or winter, but it really is delicate enough to sport in spring and summer. This is very ladylike and feels like a warm hug from a woman in a cashmere cardigan and pearls.

Beantoes

This is so peaceful. It's smooth and powdery and musky. I smell the Jasmine but it's like a flower on the other side of the room. Just a whisper of florals. Mostly wood and musk are prominent to me. The powder isn't of the baby variety, more like my mother's dusting powder I used to sniff and sometimes steal a poof or two from as a child. It smells clean and safe. Nothing mind blowing here but definitely enjoyable. I would love to smell this on someone I love when I hug them.

milazinha

If anyone has an unloved bottle of this to swap, please PM me! I've got a sample and I'm in love!

I currently have Cashmere in my left wrist and Liquid Cashmere in my right. Both have the same vibe: soft, feminine, comforting. The notes are the same, but they come out at different times (according to the votes here anyway). I wouldn't call either sexy; the girl who wears them is the girl next door, demure, feminine, not a come-hither sex kitten. Or perhaps she is a loving mom. (Yes, I imagine wearing scents like this the day I become a mom.) The differences are subtle to me. Cashmere is warmer and more powdery, Liquid C is cooler. Frankly, I love both, cannot decide which I like best. I would be happy with either, but I wouldn't need 2 bottles.

KarlekLila

This was my signature scent for awhile. Fresh, softly green florals of lily of the valley and jasmine that dry to the softest suède.

I prefer edt to the sharper edp. Its perfectly suited to both summer heat and autumn's chill. It's soft but fresh; clean, office safe but still a compliment receiver. Sillage is medium but longevity is forever on me. Absolutely lovely.

Pieces

I have worn this perfume on and off for the last 19 years. I bought it (blind buy-just for the name!) when it first was launched, and I instantly loved it. The name really fits, since it is so soft and sensual, and at the same time it is so light, that you can put on a lot and still go free of headaches. It is rather sweet, but it is in an elegant way, and it is definately a classy perfume. I imagine Marilyn Monroe would wear this, had she lived today, and so it seems to me quite fitting, that someone writes, that it reminds her of chanel no5. I actually cannot stand Chanel no5, but the powdery glamourous touch they do share:)

fyre92

and minus a bit of the strength.

fyre92

This is like a higher quality version of what chanel is currently passing off as chanel no 5 eau de parfum. The current incarnation of chanel no 5 lacks so much.... But THIS! THIS! im smelling this next to a vintage bottle of my no 5 eau de parfum. This is a close comparison to the vintage minus the civet,50% woodiness and with a dose of fruitiness added.

kilgoretrout

One of those fragrances that you think smells awesome on other people, but smells like crap on you. Tried this in sample form and just could not get in love with it. Too powdery and musky for my tastes. Doesn't have that "fresh" smell that I like and thought I'd smelled in it on others.

Purplegem

This is quite an intense, strong scent. I find it improves with time. Definitely has a cosiness to it, almost comforting but it is too strong to be soothing to me. As most people noted, the suede and cashmere wood are dominant in this. If the jasmine is there, its the type in Alien ie stronger and more musky. Bit powdery. It is how I would expect from the description and notes really. I imagine a well dressed woman wearing this somehow! Excellent lasting power (as perfumes with suede/leather often tend to have)

LadyPilot

This scent totally lacks freshness or cleanness. No bergamot, no fresh flowers, nothing...
It is long-lasting and kind of dirty - 5 minutes after spraying I felt as if I had used it some 6 hours ago and then got sweat and weary:( Not a good thing for a perfume I guess... It's too animalic for me.

SherCub

I really love the first part of this, I smelled Jasmine and Orange blossom and wood scent, I am less wild about musk and powder after, but still like it alright. Luckily this is one of those perfumes that doesn't cause my eyes to burn. Can anyone give any tips on any perfumes that are like this but no musk or powder? Thanks!

jstoy313

Top note: soap
Heart Note: Baby powder
Base note: laundry detergent
Ugh.

oroszcindy

Ew, too sweet. I don't smell any lime. The amber on me is very strong. But my mom likes it.

chulagirl

I received a sample of DKCM recently and sprayed a bit on my wrists about two hours ago to check its wearability. OMG, am I sorry! One previous reviewer observed that it reminded her of Raid which my first thought as well -- like a very strong powder fragrance intended to mask something harsh and chemically. I can attest to its longevity since I've tried to wash it off and it wears on. Of course, since I found the Cashemere Mist experience so repugnant I was anxious to come and read the Fragrantica reviews. Not surprisingly, most reviewers love it. Fascinating how body chemistry varies so dramatically!

alias miss ferkit

Cashmere Mist was my gateway perfume ... one month ago. My introduction to smelling like something *intentionally*.

I've loved and savored the lingering fragrance of certain soaps (...and then there's the sweet Proustian thing that happens with the aroma of suntan lotion or sunscreen on a beach scarf... ) I ended up purchasing this after asking a coworker what warm, musky, powdery thing she was wearing...it seemed delicious.

First impression: Not so delicious on me.

I could smell alcohol and baby powder...then, a bit of "that moment you walk into Bloomingdales" (floral, fresh, a little harsh, genus and species hard to distinguish). I clearly have an unsophisticated nose...I noted layers in the scent as it evolved and evaporated over several hours. I was somewhat disappointed; it seemed that, on me, this is - pretty generic. Applied it again. This time, I began to find its wafting layers inviting...friendly, vital, pleasant, and - once it hit vanilla - cuddly and comforting. AND THEN. On the third try... Something shifted, and it became entrancing. Made me feel happy! Was I just brainwashed by a fragrance?!

So...some days it smells good to me, and is moreover a great *comfort* scent; some days, not really. However: it brought me into the world of scent - and that's a wonderful thing. *Now* I'm developing a fragrance 'bucket list'.

Addict2Perfume

I was in such a love/hate relationship with Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist until I recently obtained the EDP from a fellow fragrantica member in a swap. Perhaps the EDP works better with my body chemistry than the EDT. I love the musky soapy sweetness I get from this scent, it definitely smells luxurious and cozy. I discovered that it’s the suede note that I do not like, there is something sour about it to my nose. I found that I can happily wear this scent in the winter and so far I have gotten nothing but compliment from the people around me. I like that this is a sweet powdery scent that does not smell like straight up baby powder – I think it’s the musk that blends all the notes together so smoothly. So glad I can finally wear this fragrance!

sueshow

At first I hated this one. All I could detect was a wierd leathery note mixed with powder yuck. I was about to give it away when I thought to give it a second try. I'm not sure what happened but now I love it. The powder smell so clean and fresh right up my alley.

aSmileiswild

This reminds me of a freshly cleaned saddle minus the sweaty horse. Little bit of powdery/soap, bit of suede leather. Nice.

fragrantlove

In the beginning, it smells like a very light, very alluring soapy musk. Then as time goes by, it turns heavier and heavier, in the worst way! This is a perfect example as to why we should give a fragrance at least 3 hours on our skin before we decide whether or not to buy it. At first I thought it was going to be "love", after 3 hours a definite "dislike"!

MadMadamMimm

I like it. Surprisingly interesting. I get mostly jasmine and musk, filled out by amber, vanilla and wood. Nice for a rainy January day.

victoria.mei1992

It has similarity with sexy amber, but this one has that strong suede smell, but also sweet, cashmere is calm, not biting. Its like it has litchi note to it, creamy.

drugstore classics

One of the very few office scents I can face with a smile. :D

Unusually interesting 'white' fragrance, without the banality of the clean category. I can smell both the musk and the lily of the valley, while sensing a lovely softness and sweetness that are much more indefinable. I'm guessing the sweetness is owing to amber/vanilla and the softness would be suede? As for jasmine, I suspect this is what gives Cashmere Mist the hint of dryer freshness that places it unavoidably in the clean scents category.

Four stars.... Which is saying something, coming from a chypre and oriental lover!

czerwinski1

Very nice scent, reminds me Naomi Campbel, Naomi it is stronger and sweeter. CM it is gentle powdery, comfortable and quiet. There is elegant, do not impose the. I like to wear it, it is almost like a natural fragrance wearer's skin. Som people write, that it is like baby powder- it's true. Sillage is moderate, longevity is ok. Sory my english is poor. Beautiful smell, worth knowing!

kyl77

Cashmere Mist is a gorgeous perfume. It's really subtle and intimate and sort of just enhances the scent of your own skin. I like to wear this whenever I want to feel fresh and clean. The actual scent is hard to describe, because I don't pull any distinct notes. It's like the notes are so well blended they become a new note called Cashmere Mist. The best way I can describe it is as a soft, powdery and fresh perfume. The wear time is actually decent, but there isn't much sillage. That actually makes this great for job interviews, church or meetings, where a bolder fragrance might not be appropriate. But if you want to walk into a room and wow someone with your perfume, Cashmere Mist isn't the fragrance for you.

passiveintensity

At first whiff i get a citrus sharp smell, probably the bergamot, Then after that i get different layers, definitely something leathery but it smells more like plastic to me, like those Barbie dolls. Powder, lots of powder intertwined with jasmine and musk, i hardly get any amber. Then the cashmere and powder kind of lingers. It is a pleasant perfume, quite comforting, and long lasting. A little goes a long way.

Emmayunee

I have to say sometimes the perfume pick you and not the other way around. I had a sample of this and everyone around me loves this stuff on me. My DH who doesnt notice any of my fragrance collection is head over heels for cashmere mist. Myself however, its not quite love. It feels like a nice friend you go out to lunch with once a month to catch up but not the 1st person you run to whether it be good news or bad.

The fragrance on skin:
-jasmine
-vanilla
-creamy/sweet/oily
-woody and powdry
-leathery
YES>>>> This fragrance developement is endless on me, and while those phases are interesting I find the vanilla note too cloying. Its like a super sweet nosy granny next door that you can't hate but can't stand.

**Lasting power is GREAT! one spray on the wrist last until the next shower and sometimes even lingers after the shower. I did two spray, one on each wrist and was getting comments from most that walked by.

Sorayya

I like leather clothes but not in my perfumes. No thank you.

This perfume is all leather and wood...and maybe a hint of bergamot. That's it...

Elreno22

Not a fan. Cashmere, suede, vanilla and powder...not a combination I'm in love with. Too powdery. It disappears on me quickly, which is a good thing in my opinion.

FCashmere12

Very powdery, long lasting and i'm just in love with it.

perfumeaddiction

Beautifully crafted all around! Word to the wise this perfume has been reformulated all over the place. So much in fact that I have 4 bottles that all smell completely different. If you can find the older stuff that's what you want. The current version while nice takes back seat to the original. If your shooting for current formulation your actually better buying the wallgreens instyle version it smells just like the new stuff, when buying vintage make sure you ask if it's not rancid. For some reason this one tends to turn easier then others in my collection.

dolcethadon

I smelled this on a paper strip that a SA gave to one of my family members.. My first impression is that is is a nice warn scent.. It opens up a bit fresh but than it starts to warm up.. I got a nice combo of florals, but it is all about the suede, cashmere wood, and musk.. Cashmere Mist could definitely be a nice signature scent..

Lillitth

Oddly the first thing I smelled as I was applying this was alcohol. That disappeared immediately though and was replaced with a lovely musky floral. Interestingly I immediately thought of the Helena Rubinstein Heaven Scent I wore when I was in middle school that I loved so much. This feels like my grown up version of that very soft feminine scent. Here I get all musky/jasmine/vanilla with a little woody leather. No lily or bergamot at all. The dry down is a little sweet - the vanilla really seems to start coming through a bit more.

This is a very very pretty fragrance. Very subtle, very feminine, very unobtrusive. Normally, these very subtle scents vanish on me almost instantly, but this one is lingering in a lovely way. I think this perfume would be appropriate on any age in almost any daytime situation. It would be perfect for the office since it's so soft and sits so close to the skin. I would wear this around the house on a daily basis. It just makes me feel pretty. I will probably consider adding this to my collection with a regular sized bottle after my mini is gone. My husband really likes it and gives it an 8.5.

Lucky7z

On me this is a nice, light floral, powdery scent. Its a long lasting scent thats imo suitable for daytime or nighttime..pretty much a all around scent that anyone could wear at anytime of the year.

Deirdre1969

My skin must be really weird. I should start a thread called "weird smells my skin produces with perfume" LOL

I tried this on my arm the other night and within an hour I got a swimming-pool smell.

I really wanted to like it... Oh, well.

It does smell nice coming out of the bottle. A hint of leather but still soft and fresh. Nice for an evening out for a confident, classy woman.

blackw0lfx

a very nice fragrance. i get a lot of musky woody suede. its creamy and powdery. i can understand the baby powder as sometimes i get that, but most of the times i get more wood notes. on me it smells a tad dated but i think its a safe daytime winter perfume. could wear it definitely to work even business professional, though maybe a little too weak if you are high in the company. i think for a little older too like 30+. i feel like its missing something that would elevate it. i wont buy this because its not really me, but if someone gifted it to me i would use it and keep it.

msanishvili

Like a soft, powdery, feminine cashmere shawl draped around my shoulders. I love this as an everyday scent in the colder months.

Fragaria

I like this a LOT. This scent reminds me of Chanel Chance. Both have a huge presence. They're like a fresher, instead of stuffy, powerhouse perfumes from the 80's. I'm slightly more impressed with Cashmere Mist. It's a bit more feminine, and leaves a softer veil around you. It sort of meanders into your nostrils, while Chance bursts through like a Black Friday rush, leaving you starry-eyed. I feel both are equal, and if you prefer one over the other, it won't be by much....this is just my guess. Both scents are very mature, or should I say, serious, to my nose? I would expect to turn the corner and see Demi Moore vs. Agyness Deyn. These are not what I consider frolicking playful scents. If I were between two rooms of women, one room wearing Cashmere Mist and one wearing Chance, I would go between the two rooms pretty much equally. Take your pick....or buy both!?

melancholybaby

A clean, powdery fragrance, delicate and feminine, soft enough to wear anytime, anywhere. It reminds me of Il Profumo Musc Bleu, but is much softer and less soapy. Very nice.

VieuxCarre

Its a great scent to wear for casual everyday. Its very light, so its best if you rub in the body lotion then spray on the perfume on top the lotion so the alcohol is locked in better

I worked at an upscale dept store in the 90s when Donna Karan's first perfume came out. At the time her clothes were a huge success, expemplifying sleek black and white minimalism which was the exact opposite of the then winding down 80s fashion trends. Her clothes were very expensive and demand was huge. But when her signature perfume came out, it was not successful. The black rubber "duck" sculpture bottle was mocked and many were returned due the a faulty black rubber spray nozzle, it never worked correctly and it leaked.
The original DK was heavy with spices and suade. Customers thought it was too heavy and masculine, it was not an easy sell. Then the body products came about and ironically there were a huge success. They were marketed emphasizing the fact only a few notes from the original DK were used, and they were more for the bath than actual layering products. I remember thinking they smelled so good, they should make a perfume to match.
Low and behold Cashmere Mist arrived and it smelled just like the DK body products. I knew it! I should have applied for a marketing job with Donna Karen in the 90s, I totally would have been hired.
Anyway Cashmere Mist to me smells creamy vanilla with a white floral and sandalwood base. Kind of conservative and refined but elegant and clean. To this day I still like the way it smells. The original DK is long gone, but Cashmere Mist is here to say.

tracy.debloistalley

I find these types of fragrances tend to wear on me very well; anything warm or in the oriental wood families. This smells like warm cashmere wood with faint suede in the background, some vanilla, amber, and a touch of white flower, which is jasmine. I do not detect the top note really or most of the middle notes.

The top note in this opens with bergamot and I don’t smell it at all sadly. I love bergamot. Middle notes are jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, and suede. The base notes are what I smell immediately and stay well hours later and develop into a sweet woodsy smell. They are musk, sandalwood, amber, cashmere musk, and vanilla. Gorgeous fragrance that is very classy and simple.

leda

Cashmere Mist is a clean, bubble bath kind of scent that some might not find interesting enough. However, if you keep in mind the minimal aesthetic of Donna Karan's clothing style, Cashmere Mist matches it perfectly.

I find it effortlessly beautiful, clean, and polished. It is a powdery, floral, creamy scent with a soft suede and a sandalwood base, and a breath of non-edible vanilla. I find that in the Donna Karan scents I've tried, she has a knack for bringing a carbonated "lift" to them, as if the perfume was a scented soda. Staying power is right in the middle, but I'm only going on a little spray from the sample sprayer for now.

Side note: The deodorant/antiperspirant is gorgeous too. Works amazingly well, and it smells heavier on the sandalwood. A friend actually thought I was wearing an essential oil.

pixiewinks

testing this today... I'm not finding anything real special about it to initiate a purchase. I think it's the lily of the valley, amber, and the powder elements that are unappealing to me.
First spray the Bergamont was nice but it quickly faded into musky, woodsy, floral powder. It's not an offensive scent but not for me, I need more sweet in my fragrances.

I've always thought Cashmere Mist was trying to be too many things at once. *Black* Cashmere is unabashedly leathery and meant for dark mystery. It smells a bit the way I imagine money would smell. Cashmere Mist takes some of that and softens it way down with lighter citrus and musk and sweetens it with florals and vanilla. On paper it seems like it ought to work.
To me it doesn't. I can smell this stuff a mile away. I was working in an office yesterday and kept getting subliminal whiffs of something that wasn't good. I realized there was a girl walking by with Cashmere Mist on. The impression she was giving was the opposite of fresh. She smelled stale and dusty.
I keep testing this year after year since it came out and haven't liked it on me ever. I want to like it. Black Cashmere is really special.
As different as our reactions are this has to be a case where I'm anosmic to something and other people are anosmic to something else. Because if you smell what I'm smelling you wouldn't like Cashmere Mist either.

CarmendyNola

Wearing this today! It's one of my classic go-to day scents. I have the body lotion as well to pair with the EDT. I've also had the EDP and I can tell you there isn't much difference in longevity and I prefer the EDT as it is lighter, cleaner and less musky than the EDP. This is one scent that I won't wear without it's accompanying body lotion. I do wear the lotion by itself sometimes for a softer touch that still lasts all day. I'd say if your thinking about picking this one up, start with the body lotion first, I know that sounds unusual but trust me it's really beautiful.

The fragrance is definitely powdery and creamy foremost but with enough complexity to wear pretty much any time and any season. It's a very relaxing scent, with cashmere wood and suede on top and middle notes of clean cotton and amber that are light and really pleasant. I'm certain its because of the lotion, but I can really smell this on me for a long time after I apply it (been on me since 9a.m. and its almost 2p.m. and its still very present.) OH and ladies, guys love this one. I don't know why but I think because its so natural and soft. Either way, its a keeper.

blue_belle

Another one from Mom! Lovely on her, awful on me. On her it's very soft and even though it's powdery I wouldn't describe it as "baby powder" at all. It's woody and sueded, a mature woman's powder fragrance. It's not my favorite, because powder scents in general aren't my favorite, but I like it and it suits her well as a daytime scent.

On me...I think I'm scrubbing this off. It's almost sickeningly sweet, and extraordinarily powdery. I think I've smelled this before in old scented toiletries, but not the luxurious kind everyone wants. No, thank you! Perhaps I should stay away from Mom's perfumes completely. This one is a hideous monster on me.

Lacrimosa

❀ Casmere Mist is a perfume for sophisticated women (cashmere, suede) with romantic soul (oh sweet jasmine!)
Feminine, powdery, chic...really beautiful!

Opening-Note

I have a story for this one:
When I was about 8 years old, my siblings and I were out shopping with my father at Dillard's (we frequented Dillard's until that particular one was closed). We finished the day, and when we walked out to the car, one of the sales managers at the perfume counter was having car trouble. My father works on cars for a living, and he saw that she was having a problem and somehow fixed it on the sport (I don't remember exactly how-- this was about a decade ago). After he was finished, the lady went back into the store, and a few minutes later came back with a bottle of this. He originally gave it to my sister and me, but we were too young to really know what to do with it, so I gave it to our then-stepmother. She adored it and promised to wear it only on special occasions. I didn't realize then what a big deal Donna Karen was or how expensive that bottle of perfume was, but I'll never forget how happy my stepmother was to get that bottle of perfume that she otherwise would never have been able to have.

bridgette

Starts out harsh soapy and lemony (hurts my nose), then comes lemony baby powder. Definitely need to give this one 10 minutes to dry before taking a whiff.

stillsinnend

Initially, I was infatuated with the idea of this perfume. The flacon is a rare beauty in the perfume world and the name suggests warmth, coziness and just the right amount of depth and mystery. Based on that, you'd expect a dream in a bottle come true.
When I first tried Cashmere mist, I was, indeed, pleased with its subtlety and charm. Most of all, it's a warm and inviting fragrance and I can easily understand why so many women swear by it as their signature. However, I do not find it particularly interesting or original in any way. Maybe it is not supposed to be that at all. It exists perfectly fine in its simplicity and warmth and does not pretend to be what it is not, for which it deserves respect in the rather loud perfume world nowadays. If you want the scent equivalent of a warm cashmere scarf or sweater, you are probably familiar with Cashmere mist already.
I, personally, will remain true to my NOA, which has a little something that surprises and charms me again and again. This is the kind of element I do not find present in Cashmere mist.

Fonna2

I looked at the notes and was absolutely shocked!

It's smells like someone came up to me , blinded me with baby powder, and when the haze disipated, I was left with giant marigolds in a giant coffee latte!!

For goodness sake, yes...yes I tasted it to see if it tasted like coffee. Lord knows it smelled like I spilled it on myself, why not?

Then, wait for it , wait for it....is that Carnation Instant Breakfast steeped in marigolds? Oh noes.

Out of all of it, it's marigolds and sweetened vanilla milk.
One hour later: Burnt vanilla cookies.

Not a fan.

layla7658

It may be just my skin, but I don't get any powdery notes, and slightly a few musky. On the contrary, I get a lot of jasmine - which is great for me! - and woody. Really beautifull perfume, and I think I will wear it in both summer and winter! Good longevity.

elph

Oh, how I love this fragrance. It's so deep and mysterious. The suede note turns distinctly masculine on me, but it is gone in an instant leaving wood and spice in its wake for a nice long drydown.

ShellBelle

I am surprised at how much I am loving this! I got a sample from Sephora because I wanted to try some different notes. I really thought this was going to be too musky and powdery for me but I adore it! Vanilla, sandalwood, musk makes this a very cozy scent. Yum!

cloverstatic

At first this smelled lovely, warm and sexy without being too musky but as time went on the warmth turned to powdery and I began to smell like a sexy grandma. Powder always seems to dominate on my skin and so I try to avoid scents with it but this was just a sample so I was curious.. now I know. The powder also seemed to make the musk seem sharper... cheaper? almost? so if you have powder issues like me.. well.... def try before you buy.

bonnie52

It's a beautiful powdery scent but is extremely light. The saleslady told my husband it was very popular among health workers. Must be because it's barely noticeable. It is not cheap and you have to douse yourself to be noticed. What a shame.

amyewest

A pleasant, sweet, lightly leathery scent. My initial reaction was "meh", but it's starting to grow on me. Sillage is very light. Not sure of longevity. I smell no citrus or distinct flowers, but the sweetness doesn't smell exclusively like vanilla, so they must be in there. Oddly, the attractive thing about Cashmere Mist is that CM smells like a just worn sweater which has the remains of another of one's perfume on it. Cool effect. Possibly when I finish my other comfort scents I'd consider this one.

missmaggiebeth

I remember trying out this perfume soon after it was released. It smelled awful on me. I've continued searching for a perfume that was like this perfume smelled on others and never had any luck finding something quite as elegant and comforting at the same time.

I tried it again with a small sample I had dismissed for so long based on my first experience. Wow! It is amazing. It has a powder that is nothing like baby powder yet is so comforting. It lasts well into the next day with a powdery vanilla scent. It has moved to the top of my must have list. I am so happy I revisited this scent. I can't get enough of it!

veenuh

I'm sorry to say but I do not like this fragrance. I bought this hoping I'll love it seeing that it's a powdery musky vanilla scent which I love in a perfume but this just doesn't work on me. It smells like a cheap motel. The ones where it has been scrubbed clean but still awoke that all cheap stale smell. Not for me.

CeciliaKu

Fragrances don't usually get cozier or creamier than this. Cashmere Mist gives me that calm, tranquil feeling, a sense of peaceful, uninterrupted sleep.

Creamy, powdery and somewhat milky, the colour white is a perfect way of describing this fragrance. It's pretty yet also sensual, very feminine and addictive.

Cashmere Mist is neither too floral, too powdery, too vanillary or too creamy. It's a nicely balanced blend, pleasing to almost every nose. It is true that there are many scents out there that are similar to Cashmere Mist, however I do still refer to this fragrance as being one of a kind.

Wearing Cashmere Mist is not like wearing a perfume, it feels very natural and soothing on the skin.

I just sampled this in sephora since I wasnt sure of the blandness of the perfume. And thank God I did. Something is so sweet about this perfume even though its not mentioned in notes that it makes me nauseate. And this is the ONLY perfume that made me do that in hundreds of perfumes I have tried and used in my life. Please sample this before you buy.

I love love love this perfume.... in the bottle. When it is on me it morphs to some stinky rotten wood doused with used baby powder smell. Not good. I have smelled it on other women and it smells great. I would suggest not buying blind. Do a test run first. I still sniff it in the store wishing it would stay that way.

Normally, I like (if not LOVE) sandalwood, amber and musk on my skin but I do not know nor understand what ingredient it was in this fragrance that made me excuse myself to the loo so I can wash it off. It lacked personality and the blast of alcohol wasn't wearing off on me. Mind you...I'm not the kind to immediately smell my wrist soon as I apply nor rub my wrists together to warm it up. I let it evaporate at its own pace and allow it to sing to me.

My body chemistry and this was so out of tune I felt like a victim of a bar brawl where someone bashed a bottle of booze over my head and I had push my way out of it by shoving my middle aged croonies aside during 80s night. Yes, I feel like I would smell like that sort of scenario. It was a combination of other people's scents intermixed with flying alcohol.

Kudos to you if you can wear this and smell lovely, I know you're out there. But, on me...this was a definite pass.

to me it feels very generic and boring, I am afraid :S I mostly feel soft musk.
It's a nice fragrance for everyday use, but there are many fragrances like this out there that are much cheaper.

This perfume is probably my favorite. On me it smells like a combination of vanilla and jasmine with a smokey hint of sandalwood and a little lily. There's also something else, kind of like clean linen but a little warmer. It was a light, sweet scent on me. But it also has a little spice also. I don't get the powdery smell or chemical smell a lot of people are talking about at all. Although, I will admit that what I smell in the bottle smells absolutely nothing like how it does when it's on me. This one just fits perfectly with my chemistry and creates a smell that just wraps me up. I always end up sniffing my wrists throughout the day. It also lasts FOREVER on me, I'll put it on in the morning and I can still smell it when I wake up the next day. Not to mention whenever I wear this I get complimented far more then I do with any other perfume I've ever worn. I even get quite a few strangers who come up to ask me what I'm wearing. All in all, for me, this perfume just hits all the right marks.

Beautiful, clean and fresh. Classic. I really do love this fragrance, however, I hardly wear it as I find that it's probably best suited for women 55+.

It's warm but I wouldn't say creamy, it's kinda sizzly to me like carbonation. When I was around 10-12, I would've loved it because I liked warm, musky scents and would have considered the "sizzle" to have been preppy enough for my age. I'm not at all saying this is not a more mature scent because my cousin of the same age said it smelled like old ladies to her. We bought my aunt a mini-kit and she loves it. I would put the top notes as suede, vanilla, amber, musk and woods. The florals are there, but not strong. Wasn't familiar with bergamot at the time, but I see a connection to earl-grey tea. I like it still but can't wear it.

My daughter loves this, so won't ever say this out loud to her. Smells like raid bug spray metal and chemically, not in a good way. Amazing the differences from one nose to another.

This is the polar opposite of Black Cashmere: it's light, kinda creamy, airy, and not as heavy or intense as its dark sister (and decidedly feminine; no unisex here). But what it does share with its darker sibling is the comfort and warmth. It didn't last too long on my skin, which I didn't like. But it's great for the late summer/early fall days or a year round day scent where it can leave a nice trail (and getting comments all the while).

I don't like it.
I prefer the version of Bath Body Works, sweetest, sensual and authentic.

This is one of they most sensual "clean" scents I have come across.

The jasmine brings a light freshness, in contrast the woods, suede & musk adds an earthy sensual feel.

Vanilla and amber bring these polarizing themes together by adding a soft subtle sweetness that play off both the clean and earthy aspects.

Great mature subtle sensual scent.

I used to love this. Soft and delightful, gentle musk with a hint of vanilla and a slightly toppy green note, which could be Lily of The Valley? Then I met Penhaligons Artemesia, which gave me an eyebrow flash, a dazzling ultrabrite smile and it's phone number as it got into a comfy car with leather seats. I still have three quarters of that original bottle of DK Cashmere, and have since been through 3 x 100ml bottle of Artemsia plus a tin of matching talc for each one. What Cashmere lacks is the soft peachy powdery gust that you get from Artemesia in addition to the base of Cashmere. Had I never met with Penhaligons, I would have still loved Cashmere. Mind you, I have said that about boyfriends. Fickle? Moi? I have standards, that's all. :-)

MzSweetPeach

An intimately powdery, soft and comforting perfume. To smell it is to be wrapped in a lover's embrace during a stormy November night as a fire crackles nearby. Mature but not too old, clean but not overwhelmingly sterile, elegant but not overstated...Cashmere Mist recalls warmth and a schoolgirl's abashed shyness. The message this fragrance sends is safe and inoffensive-- nowhere near approaching the bold precipice of danger. Those looking for complexity or to make a raucous statement should search elsewhere as Cashmere Mist demands nothing of the wearer except pure simplicity. A beautiful, albeit unemotional scent.

I don't really like it. The musk is sour and lily of the valley just isn't my cup of tea. It kinda smells a bit aquatic on me. It doesn't smell like cashmere at all.
