Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Parisienne was launched in 2009. Parisienne was created by Sophia Grojsman and Sophie Labbe. Top notes are Blackberry, Cranberry and Vinyl; middle notes are Damask Rose, Violet and Peony; base notes are Musk, Sandalwood, Vetyver and Patchouli.

Perfumers: Sophia Grojsman, Sophie Labbe.

Commercial face: Kate Moss.

Edition: Yves Sain Laurent 2009.

This fragrance YSL appeared on the market in 2009, romantically named Parisienne, which implicates its Paris fragrance antecedents, as well as its edited bottle design. Besides the official notes of Damascus rose, violet, peony, cranberry, patchouli, vetiver, musk and sandalwood, it also contains urban and bold aromas of vinyl and lacquer, reminding us of the special scent of a cosmetic bag, make – up and high-heels on the hot city asphalt.

Oh Parisienne! Why does it have to be so weak! I have the 90ml bottle and it goes down so quickly! Even when I spray it on my clothes! Plus it's getting discontinued - is getting harder to find it, and the cost went up... I wish there was a niche dupe for it, I'm hearing good things about Lipstick Rose...

The smell itself is gorgeous, it opens up with cranberry and blueberry, then the succulent rose and violet at heart, and it finishes with sandalwood and some musk.

Lancôme Trésor by Midnight is supposed to be a dupe which I also own but that one ends up smelling like Armani Diamonds on me. Synthetic raspberries and nothing else. Parisienne in comparison is classy, sophisticated and just lush smelling. Mesmerising, really. Reminds of a lipstick, a make-upy scent with it's powdery violet and rose notes.

I wonder if when it first came out, whether or not the fragrance wasn't more long lasting. A classmate from 10-th grade wore it so beautifully that I had to splurge years later! In a few words - wonderful concoction but the longevity is poor. 🌹😥

Very make-up-y. All things pretty. Syrupy, candied rose with a powdery, meteorites-like violet, watered down. It’s a cool older sister scent. A cousin you looked up to when you were little who went on to study design in London. Her room with Victoria Secret strip wallpaper and a leirvik bed you’re not supposed to touch anything in.

I have a soft spot for its corniness: sweet rose-violets, "Parisienne", Kate Moss with side bangs and a messy bun. I had a hot pink bedazzled Eiffel towel model when I was little, something along these lines.... TBH I love this too much for what it is. It’s nothing groundbreaking. It’s in that line of “lipstick” fragrances of which there are A LOT and this is far from its best. "Vinyl" did promise some edginess but I can’t really distinguish what here is supposed to register as such. The overall hair-sprayness of the start? And some actual Parisians have had a terrible day because of this when it was launched, I'm sure. But it is pleasant, has really cool roses in it and I feel pretty in it so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

don’t think I need a full bottle of this though. This is just not a perfume meant to be hunted down for twice its original price, it’s something that should be bought in store fresh during an after uni walking trip to Sephora as pre exam stress relief. Parisienne got discontinued because…? Though I think we all can live without it even if I'm a bit sad about admitting that. But just a little bit. A relic of late 00s gallomania spike.

lavendium

Floral floral floral. I had a small sample and could only get two wearings out of it, but my impression is that it's just a typical bouquet of flowers. No fruity notes to me; I can smell the "makeup bag" kind of scent if I really look for it. Not sure if it's really there or if I'm just convincing myself based on the reviews of others. Frederic Malle's Lipstick Rose is a better execution of that concept.

I found Parisienne EDP on a second hand webstore at a great price. I hadn't tried it before, but was interested enough to blind buy it. Being so late to the Parisienne party, it reminds me of later scents such as Black Perfecto EDP and especially Black Perfecto Florale EDT by Guerlain. Where BP and BPF start with a sour candied cherry note Parisienne instead leads with a tart raspberry blast (noted as blackberry and cranberry). The following dried roses are similar enough in all three, whereas the vinyl in Parisienne is compared with a smokey note in BP and BPF. They are all both girly and mature at the same time: the fruity-flowery playfulness subdued by the smoky-vinyl haze. Parisienne is a bit sharp, especially in the opening, a chemical feel to it like scented erasors or coloured markers. There is not that much of a woodsy base on me, rather a creamy skin scent after an hour or so. Its predecessor Paris is detectable, which is fun and reminds me of my teenage years (although I was a Poison girl back then). I am not sure Parisienne suits me now either, not that age matters, but rather where I am in life at the moment. After work and then house work I apply it sparingly to become someone else for a while.

yelrog

I received a sample of this back in 2011-2012 and I vividly remember getting complimented on it. It stuck with me because prior to this scent I was only wearing Lolita Lempicka and I had people tell me it smelled bad (it doesn’t, it’s my favorite). But YSL Parisienne smells so high-class it’s no wonder I was complimented for it.
I just recently ordered a 1oz. bottle of the original EDP and it smells exactly as I remembered: cold, synthetic, posh, rich-bitch-energy. It smells exactly like the inside of my mom’s old makeup bag, with powdery cosmetic residue lining the bottom of the cheap plasticky zippered pouch. Don’t let the connotation of “cheap” make you think this is a cheap smelling fragrance—it’s the opposite. Have you ever been able to find a perfume that can replicate that exact smell? Probably not. It’s unique, and it elicits a very distinct memory. I think most girls/women can relate to the excitement and mystery of the first time they found their mom’s makeup stash, and how grown up it made you feel to dust a little powder on your cheeks with the plasticky brush that came in the compact.
This scent is the olfactory celebration of when girlhood turns to womanhood, and you go from candy smelling children’s cosmetics to rosy and powdery smelling adult cosmetics. It embraces the unnatural scents women encounter every day when putting on their face, and the melancholic reality of no longer being a little girl.

Not for everyone. If you like more natural smelling fragrances, this is NOT for you. It is truly a synthetic masterpiece. Such a shame it’s been permanently discontinued and substituted for the rancid floral mess that is Mon Paris.

ClassicallyVintage

I've worn this perfume since it came out in 2009 and it is still, to this day my most complimented scent. Everything about this perfume works perfectly with my skin chemistry and I'm so sad they discontinued this for Mon Paris. Parisienne smells girly, slightly innocent, but edgy due to the the vinyl note, making this more a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets kind of perfume. You can easily wear this in the office, or spritz on before a night out on the town. It's a great perfume and I still can't get enough of it!

CrisMS

This used to be a love for me back when it was released, more than 10 yrs ago. I had 3 bottles of it. But now it gives me a headache and cannot stand it.
Still, it's a beautiful take on berries and violet with a touch of plasticky note of vinyl. It felt luxurious and sophisticated, I hadn't smelled anything like it.
Now it's too fruity sweet for me, just doesn't hit the same. I think it would work wonderfully on a young 20+ lady.

PS: I remember another thing I loved about this: the bottle shape and size. I always had the 90ml , but I never found them uncomfortable to hold while spraying. For me it's a big deal:))

Peaches&Cream

This smells nice, I like that I smell cranberry and rose notes. The only downfall is it not lasting long enough for me, it lasts about 4 hours. Parisenne is a pretty perfume and I am happy I got my hands on it. It wears well when layered making it lasts a bit longer , great for fall and spring.

Catyy

It smells just like rose flavored Turkish delights. It’s sweet, fruity, sometimes a bit artificial because of the vinyl note.

SmellsJustLike

This reminds me of my early 20s…
Carefree, sparkling powdery fruits. Every night was a party and travelling to different city’s every other week. Life was one long vacation.
It’s fruity and sweet but just the right amount of seduction and innocence of youth. I think this perfume bottle was the most sophisticated thing I owned in 2010…
I tried it again the other day for the first time in years, and found it hideously sweet against my skin, but then it was definitely of its era. I wear libre now 🥰 but this perfume holds some fabulous memories and I will always treasure it.

Rosiewebber

This is what Barbie smells like.
Sweet and fruity rose and violets, and that unusual plasticky vinyl note. Actually that threw me a bit when I first tried it, I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated the vinyl. But overall it’s a well blended perfume, and I think I actually really like it.

gtabasso

not worth the money; a nondescript fruity floral with no vinyl that I detect but a smoky vanilla; mainstream

laurenstephens1987

After being discontinued a couple of years ago, Parisienne (my signature scent) is now suddenly available again in the U.K., including on the YSL website! I hope this means it is being brought back permanently!

joeyj0jo

If I were to describe Parisienne in one word, it would be "meh". I have nearly finished a whole bottle, so I find it pleasant enough, but it doesn't have the depth or edge I usually enjoy in a fragrance. My favourite aspect is the vinyl note, but I feel like I have to smell and think really hard to find it. I would be interested in trying the flankers, because they might be able to give me what I want -- which is a deeper, easy-to-detect fragrance.

vaninavanini

Beautiful Parisienne of YSL, fireworks of roses, berries and powder... A bit sour, full of air and with a great sillage! Sophia Grojsman is the ultimate queen of roses and a legend.
They don't make perfumes like that anymore. Does everything need to be drenched in suffofating body spray sweetness nowadays? I miss the times when designer fragrances were more diverse and Parisienne stood shoulder to shoulder with Angel, Florabotanica, Ange ou Demon, Miracle, Cinéma, Light Blue and others...

nyrvelli

A lovely youthful scent.

Icarel

Parisienne is a gorgeous blend of berries, violet and rose. Sophia Grojsman knows how to work with rose and proves it with this juice. I remember the really sensual advertising campaigns with a sexy Kate Moss on a bed with big roses bouquet then wearing a leather jacket on the Alexandre III bridge in Paris, all in an atmosphere of morning dawn. Very carnel, but the perfume itself is not really sexy for me, rather elegant pink flowers and fruity. The peony and the vetiver in the back bring a bit of freshness to me, making it not a fruitchouli or just a simple berry scent. I like this perfume, last pretty well and it's a powdery scent where the berries and violet are well emphasized. If you tend to like these notes, this fragrance will appeal to you, jackpot if you also like roses.

It is not a simple scent, full of contrasts. A bit of a boudoir tho. Sophisticated but not classic chic or bourgeois, a slightly sensual but still very cold, I think it's perfect if you want to break codes, disrupt the surroundings a bit and add a twist with your scent. Unfortunately I understand that in 2023 it is not so popular anymore, because it is too subtle compared to the little sister Libre and the trends of the moment, and therefore the production has been reduced a lot. It's a shame, but trends come and go, at least I hope so for this perfume which still deserves some recognition.

Being from Paris, it doesn't really remind me of a Parisian girl IMHO but it seems that for people outside France (and YSL) yes (according to a lot of reviews below), so that's good to know, and shows again that perceptions are different from one to another.

My mom introduced me to this perfume sometime ago and I finally just re-added her to my collection. Every time I’d go to my parents place, I’d run downstairs to her room and douse myself in it. I love me a good fruity floral and this one fits the bill nicely but also has quite a uniqueness to it.

Parisienne is a pretty girl fragrance with a bit of a twist because of the vinyl note. It doesn’t give me burnt plastic vibes like everyone is mentioning, but it does help to avert the some of the sweetness this frag has from the berry notes. It gives it a sort of smooth darkness that makes this different from many other fruity florals I’ve smelled. The floral notes are all candied by the berries, which I absolutely adore and to me, what makes the fragrance both youthful and mature at the same time. The dry down maintains the florals well, and you get more of the base notes as it wears. It’s really beautiful, flirty, and feels very french. It doesn’t smell as juvenile as I expected it to smell (fruity florals usually come off that way to me) and it has good longevity and projection. I’ve been trying to nail down some good peony scents for my collection and this one is really nice.

I did declutter it before, but I’m very excited to have it back in my collection for the spring weather. I think it’s going to be a nice easy wear for spring days outside or even when I’m working in the office. Although, this is a trans-seasonal fragrance and can be appropriate to wear year round. It’s unfortunate that YSL discontinued this one but it can be easily found around online and in fragrance outlets.

Electra89

Just two notes rose and violet. The same fragrance you will get by adding to Accordo Viola L'Erbolario this Rose Solinotes.

Ranya

What a special and beautiful mixture! Floral, fruity a bit powdery, bold and super quality. It is now discontinued, we are flooded by Libre and other crap by YSL

wiltedviolets

I love this perfume so much. My boyfriend got it for me for valentine’s day and i sniff it from the bottle for fun all the time bc it’s that yummy. It’s sweet, rosy, feminine, and berry fruity goodness! Intoxicating scent 💋

Himawarinonioi

This is my winter favourite.
I wear this when I dress up in cozy but elegant knit dresses

It's as fruity as I can bear, with a warm almost smoky aftertaste on my skin.

scensitive

Clinical, powdery violet.

Wave of squeaky fresh florals in tow.

Bougie mess. If by vinyl the perfumer meant coconut hair relaxer with a hint of raw animalic musk and some other essential oil melange, ok street platinum solid gold fro. This is the part that's likeable.

For those fond of Marais body odeur, Sogno Reale Mendittorosa is like the extrait version of Parisienne with lemony bubblegum tubereuse and not berry rose.

Fruity apertif.

Wizowd

I could just drink this stuff. Blackberries and sparkling champagne. This is very red carpet, latex and tuxedos with powder pink neckties. It is also youthful and ambitious yet knowing. It reminds me of a day out in a big city. This scent has jammy rose, berries, mashed pink florals and a pleasant synthetic that reminds me of smelling a record fresh from the sleeve, all tailored into a scent where the notes become mulled into a singular effervescent nectar. I don’t find this to be purely feminine, but an intoxicating juicy potion anyone can wear. This fragrance absolutely sings. It does last contrary to what some may say, but is so pleasant that it’s easy to become blind to it. It is a sent that truly has you huffing your shirt or wrist throughout the day. Ambrosia, I tell you.

goldearth

This is a very beautiful & sexy fragrance. It's sad that they discontinued it. I would describe it as uplifting , sweet floral. It smells very designer, very expensive. Very distinctive in a good way & I got complements when I wear it.

frag_nostalgia

Violet flavored SweetTarts candies, dropped in a cup of rose and berry tea. I simply adore violet and rose in fragrance, and they're so clear cut here. The accord of vinyl isn't obvious (to me) until after some hours, while it's in the final stretch and waning, after the florals have dried down a bit and the earthy notes begin to peek through the tart violet haze. It's a lovely, feminine floral -- not very fruit forward, just a slightly tangy sugariness which is nice. Very happy to be the proud owner of this one, especially after having heard it's been discontinued.

Gyps

A blind buy that I find very weak. The smell is nice but it needs to be a lot stronger. Opened with berries and I can’t smell any vinyl, unlike Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss. On my skin it’s just gobbled up unfortunately. Way overpriced for what it is, a skin scent.

Chiquita Virtual

OH WHAT'S THIS??? I JUST LOVE IT!!! Smells like a new car, fresh laundry filled with lovely violet & blackberry scents. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL & MYSTERIOUS PERFUME. I'd buy it a thousand times.

IrisPrima

Must be that Blackberry-Vinyl-Rose odd combination, but I dearly loved this scent. Completely underestimated, mysterious and pleasant. A big yes for this one, unfortunately discontinued, as many other good scents.

Anabee

Are there better fragrances out there than this one? Most definitely. But I still love it. It’s nostalgia to me. I still remember the day I walked past the Kate Moss advertising display. ‘Parisienne’ will forever be my leather jacket, skinny jeans, messy hair and listening to the Kills. I just saw that one of Parisienne’s middle notes is vinyl! How fucking amazing is that..

Laurus

After just spraying this I was ready to judge this in the category pleasant but boring, but wait, after the dull fruity nothing special beginning it actually reveals beautiful soft fluffy skin scent, which I do not find commonly with this typ of scents. I gave it one extra point. It is better than boring but not amazing.

AquaJima

I was looking for a rose scent, this is the one I landed on and I am happy with it :)

This is not a classic feminine rose. Is not overpowering or penetrating. It sits close to the skin and whispers to you. She is rather playful, flirty and naughty. You get the violet and some sharpness of the vinyl note.

The staying power is sad, but if you have the budget to buy more and you don’t care to spray often then you will enjoy this.

I think this would go great with a leather jacket or a fur coat.

Thisismesofia

This was the one of the perfumes I used to wear during college , it brings back so many memories, I love the scent of the rose and the violet so beautiful . I agree it’s very light weight and doesn’t last long but the first spray is what I love the most and that’s why it will always be in my collection , otherwise i prefer oriental scents

clariella

I used to own this fragrance many years ago, and remember loving it. I found a bottle at a good price and bought a new one about a month ago.
It does smell just as I remember it smelling, but for som reason I think this one is weaker and not as long lasting as the last one I owned. Perhaps they've changed the formulation or perhaps I don't remember correctly what this fragrance used to be like.
Anyway, the opening is what I love the most about the scent, and here is where you find the vinyl, which adds a bit of a plastic smell to the rose. I kinda like it, honestly. The dry down is sweeter and more powdery. You get a lot of the violet and the musk.
As I said, I still like this scent very much, but I don't love it as I used to when I bought my first bottle (In 2010, I think). It's not a bad fragrance if you like rose scents, but I've also smelled better along the years.

Jloveparfum

Another of my favorite floral perfumes that cannot be missing from my collection is the wonderful Parisienne.

Musky and powdery floral. With fruity, floral, woody, earthy, musky notes and a characteristic note of vinyl and lacquer that reminds us of the smell of makeup powder.
Parisienne opens up something synthetic in a very original and sexy way because of the vinyl, first sweetened by fruit, then turning into a powdery scent of violets to magically intertwine with roses. Now the fragrance smells of dusty roses with a soft woody and musky background.

I love how Parisienne smells on my skin. It smells like roses in a very elegant and sensual way.

pinkstate

I was so afraid of that 'vinyl' note but it is so well blended with the violet that only gives me a lipstick effect. At the end I get a powdery rose/violet mixed with cranberry. It doesn't blow me away but I like it.

Petrichora

Rose, vinyl with fruity undertones- wants to be young but smells old-fashioned.
At best of Rockabilly area.

Amalie9

Synthetic, overpowering scent of raspberry. I found it almost sickening. A shame since the bottle is so beautiful.

symphony5mvmt3

This was a successful blind buy for me but definitely not a safe one. Perhaps it has been reformulated but I don't understand how people can smell the vinyl note enough for them to dislike the whole perfume. I smell blackberry liqueur before I smell anything else. I really wish it lasted longer. It's such a pretty scent, with a bit of an edge. I quite like the musk-stick-like musk in this! It's prominent without making the perfume as a whole "musky". Anyways, this is the most feminine perfume I own. This is to be worn with a Lirika Matoshi dress with Lana Del Rey playing on a gramophone while picnicking in a field of roses, not that that's everyone's epitome of femininity.

orangetomato

I was gifted a nearly full bottle of this from a friend who couldn’t bear it after she’d had her children. Honestly I don’t like it either! It smells too “perfumey” - which usually means musk or sharp white florals for me. The musk and vinyl in this makes it unpleasant. It does improve after dry down, but not into anything I’m in love with. My husband also hated the smell of this - I’ve only seen him wrinkle his nose and make a face upon first smell at a scent I’ve tried a few times, and this was one of them.

Kikichaaan

I'm so happy to get this perfume as it was on a clearance sale. I love the sweet rose scent but I kinda hate the opening. It smells like plasticky at first but turns into elegant sweet rose, peony and sandalwood scent. It last around 5-6 hours on me and I got at least two or three compliments when I wear this.

Swiss-Misks

Have they reformulated this and made it weaker? I had it back then when it was newly released and it was such beast. But I find it now weaker

PenelopePitstopKYD

I love, love, love, this fragrance. I am a lover of all things rose and sandalwood. Parisienne foots the bill for me. Totally sad that it's now discontinued, so I'm nursing the 0.5 ounces that I have in my 30ml.

I have some that will do until I find a backup for my almost empty bottle:
1) Pure Grace Nude Rose by Philosophy, 2) Modern Muse Le Rouge and 3) Modern Muse Eu de Rouge by Estee Lauder.

Update (12/15/2021): I found a 90 ml and I’m over the moon!

pweedyadel

I like that this is very much concentrated. It has oil as I’m still seeing the perfume drawn on my arm after 10mins; and I’m liking it. Will explore further and come back to review it but for now, it has my heart.

Caitlin5

Really synthetic and the vinyl note just makes it smell like raspberry scented plastic and I can't stomach it kinda makes me nauseous. But after a couple hours sure its nice but its just nice. On a positive note the bottle is pretty.

Fati.km

I think it's elegant unique perfume and I don't know why it's special for me 💜

Bethanyg

My favorite perfume I bought in Paris. Of course, I don't smell vanilla, the smell of blackberry interrupts everything. The smell is good, I like the subtle scent of peony and musk. Standard combination of vetiver and sandalwood patch

gothamshitty

This was the second designer perfume I had purchased. I remember being a teen and feeling like a superstar as I strutted down Rodeo Drive to the YSL store. I don't remember why I decided to purchase this particular perfume, but it was definitely a great choice.

Before this perfume, I had only worn sweet/candy-like perfumes. But the musk and sandalwood notes of this enticed me and definitely helped my taste evolve into something more mature.

This was not as long-lasting as my other favorites. I was still devastated nonetheless when it was discontinued!

wintermonthnovelty

I got a sample of this in a fragrance subscription box, and on the first sniff I noticed it smells almost spot on to one of my favorite Victoria’s Secret scents called Beach Dreams! A light, fruity floral :)

hannahbrandeis

I haven't worn perfume with any regularity since I was a teenager, but I just unearthed my decade-old bottle from my high school years.

I tested a very small amount and found it overly cloying for the first twenty or thirty minutes. This might be my own sense memory bias speaking, but the synthetic smell from the vinyl notes almost seemed to give it a quality reminiscent of the body spray girls at my middle school would buy at the mall... AKA it feels super young. Initially it was very headache-inducing for this (basically middle-aged) twenty-seven year old woman.

However, to my surprise, it mellowed into something kind of... lovely? The fruit and floral notes are definitely detectable, but above all it feels super fresh and clean and feminine. The vinyl and slight muskiness work well to keep the scent from developing into something overly floral or too sweet. Even though Parisienne no longer fits my personality, I can understand the appeal. But a little bit goes a long way -- and this one stays on my skin for hoooours.

socorrosouza

On me it is a bubbly edgy scent that has as main notes rose (a fresh carbonated rose) and vinyl . The vinyl gives Parisienne a thoroughly modern facet( the girl with the pretty dress and Doc Martens) and raspberry and cranberry partly counterbalancing this edge with a rosi-ness . On my skin it has an excellent performance, lasts for 8 hours with medium sillage. Very versatile can be worn in the heat and in cool days.

Atomikbomb_

Parisienne - what an odd one you are! I was in the mood to try some out of left field, and I literally got a sample of this from a grab bag, and this is satisfies my curiosity and the itch to explore...no doubt about it.

I keep reading "synthetic" thrown about in the comments, and I'll add my voice to that resounding adjective. This certainly is very sythentic.

However, this is strangely enjoyable and it "hooks" you in that opening immediately with a large dose of raspberry and rose. Now...I understand that cranberry and blackberry are listed, but this has that well-known raspberry+rose accord that can be found in many other fragrances. I'd never have guessed 'Oh!! That's DEFINITELY blackberry followed by cranberry along with vinyl!' In fact, I doubt anyone would unless they looked at the notes first.

What we do have here blindly smelling is some sort of textured ras+rose tangyness combined with a synthetic designer musk, and some faint woods. It's enjoyable, and very *bouncy*. It's a clean musk and juicy, jammy berry. It's oddly low in projection, but lasts decently.

It does have a certain je ne sais quoi that is a little addictive, in that it's familiar, yet unfamiliar all at once. Edgy, but not weird. Glittery eyeshadow, but not tattoos. Indie glam, but not prog rock. Pink letterman jacket and hot pants.

You get the idea.

jen_19

I used to love this in my late teenage years - it's a sweet, slightly heady, fruity rose scent with a twist from the vinyl note which gives it a somewhat plastic-y note. A lot of people dislike this vinyl note but I actually like as it gives the fragrance an edge. It's berries and rose heavy with some sandalwood to ground the fragrance with a slight nail polish-esque scent cutting through. It's not a fresh, light kind of rose though, it's a sweet, jammy rose (I like both although I find this kind of rose in Parisienne to be better suited for cooler weather as it can be slightly cloying). The sillage is decent although the lasting power wasn't the best and I remember the scent lasting longer on clothing than on my skin.

With this fragrance, I envision a feminine dress with a leather jacket on top. Or a sweater and mini skirt with Doc Martens. A trendy, non-basic cool girl who's feminine yet edgy, strolling down the streets of New York or Paris

I strongly encourage you not to blind buy this one! On the bottle it smells kind of like a cotton candy - rose - patchouli, but when I sprayed it on my wrist it turned horrible after 30 minutes... And it's strong, too. Make sure it smells good on you before you splurge!

Chippeta

If you have a sweet tooth you might very well enjoy this, provided you also like a slightly synthetic, plasticky smell.

I had this perfume for a bit. For me it is a very flirty, fragrant scent with a slight cotton candy accent mixed in with an infusion of candied berries and roses. Can be a little akin to a tooth ache after too much sugar if you over spritz.

The vinyl can be a bit much after a while. I hear that Parisienne A L'Extreme is without this note so will definitely be giving that a try.

Mariana Arias

Very sweet rose fragrance. Not bakery sweet but more like a synthetic fruity candy. It is a very linear scent. Can be headache inducing for sure. When I wear this people (my parents included) tell me I smell like an old lady :(

LeSucreRose

I just blind bought a partially used bottle of this on Etsy and I love it! It’s exactly how I imagined it would smell based on the notes. I actually really love the vinyl note. It smells like a synthetic berry floral in a good way.

Chr_23

Parisienne was my signature scent during my university years and I wore it a few times throughout my late 20s. This is not your typical teenage perfume but it's not mature either. It is light and pleasant, semi-sweet and powdery with a good hint of tartness and I would describe it as soft, elegant and versatile. Not long ago I started playing around with fragrances, searching and smelling different things to the point that my taste has changed significantly. When I smell it now I don't like it the way I remember I used to, I actually find it somehow lacks substance. The longevity and sillage are both below average, however I can see someone choosing to wear this for work or family functions as an inoffensive and safe option.

lauren.smells

Parisienne was my perfume in high school. If you're thinking it's an odd choice for a teenager, you're probably right. But I wanted to be sophisticated. It was basically the fragrance equivalent of 16 year olds who read Nietzsche and think they're smarter than everyone. Anyway, I digress.
As other have said, it is quite sweet. But the strong musk dry down and other notes keep it interesting -- and far from simple. There is a noticeable chemical element but personally I still found it likeable. This scent gets a lot of flack but I think everyone should try it for themselves.

Edit: I just went to find a bottle for old time's sake and couldn't find it for sale on the usual sites. Has it been discontinued?

Jcsmels

I can’t even spray this on myself because it smells like scented nail polish remover. There are no flowers or woods. Maybe artificial rose and some non acetone polish remover but not much else.

rooney.mai

I cannot smell this on me at all. It’s a waste of money, but the smell is actually nice

lenakles

My signature scent. Now that I know that there is a vinyl note in there, I’m even more excited about it. It’s classic with a edgy twist. Normally I don’t love rose fragrances for me, but this one is just playful.

Teacups

I wanted to like this. The bottle and note list are gorgeous. Unfortunately, this is something I have to scrub off each time I try it. I keep a 1 oz bottle stashed and bring it out occasionally hoping it will have a different effect. I love what I consider the "underlying" scent- a watery, berry tinted rose. It's the vinyl note that I smell most strongly and makes it unbearable. It actually makes me feel a little sick. It smells like burnt plastic to me. I understand the idea behind it, but I still can't imagine why they would ruin this with that vinyl note.

I'm happy to report I recently tried Lalique's Amethyst Eclat which is Parisienne minus the vinyl. If you want to like Parisienne but just can't because of the problem I described, give Amethyst Eclat a try!

lunic

A perfume that people are saying has poor staying power is one of the only ones I can still smell on my perfume eating skin after hours!

I feel like there's some similarities to Mon Paris here, but this is muskier and more powdery. I feel like Mon Paris packs a bigger punch and is tangier, juicier and sweeter.

I don't mind the rose and sandalwood but there's not much else doing it for me, I would never purchase a full bottle.

danygurl06

I haven’t worn this in over 7 years. I thought it was a more grown up fruity scent back then. Still youthful, but would make me smell like I was in my 20s instead of my teens. What stood out was the berry, violet and vinyl notes. I liked the advertisement too.

To me this smelt fun and sexy. I asked my then boyfriend what type of woman did he imagine smelling like this. He said a teacher. Ugh, I could only imagine the teachers I had in school and that wasn’t the imagine I was going for. I let him kind of ruin this fragrance for me.

Pandarapt

"I feel the whole world has been lifted off of my shoulders" must have thought the rose in Paris after being stripped down from her blousy taffeta Tonnelet to be in her Parisienne satin crêpe trouser suit unclad from all that eighties surplus.

Aldehydes of the former are substituted by a green, watery violet leaf, the pins of her hair have been taken away, it is now flowing and washed at least ten times over, just enough that you hear a squeak sound if you run your finger over it -Vinyl? Hello. No more is the smell of hairspray or burnt keratin with styling foam of the beauty parlor of the original or the feminine deodorant musk with talcum violet, the rose is peeled of excess life baggage and saying goodbye to old friends: hyacinth, violet, cassis and mimosa, replaced by a new set, light blackberry and metallic musk.

What does it smell like at the end? An extremely pretty, wearable fruity rose. A modernized Paris and YSL should have stuck at this gear of the trend instead of going from Hero-to-Syrop with the Mon Paris failberry strawberration.
I'm fonder of the original since I'm partial to all whimsy retro nonsense myself.

Winterspring123

Not sure if its discontinued, but I haven't been able to find a bottle from a department store or YSL website. This is my wedding scent. I decided. I won't use it until that day. Its just fresh, exciting, alive, perfect scent!

kateclarkecosmetics

A sweeter Insolence. Has a very retro feel to me. Probably violet. I think this is quiet a brave perfume for the time - it doesn’t go near fairy floss sweet, rather lets berries do the talking. I get the feeling this isn’t a huge seller for YSL. it’s dropped off the radar and it’s all about Mon Paris now. Reminds me of its Great Aunt, Paris.

Rosenotes6

At first spray I thought, uh oh. Pure chemicals. But then! The transformation was beautiful. Berries galore, sweet Roses, and a smooth vinyl. If you love berries and roses give Parisienne a try. :)

meg0825

Parisienne features sweet and tart berries along with a unique vinyl note. This gives a fun and modern twist to the classic combination of rose and violet. It manages to be soft and elegant on one hand and lively and flirty on the other. Very nice!

disintigratedwoman

Going off memory here from when I last smelled this - Parisienne is a beautiful berry/rose/violet fragrance, both classic and modern at the same time. Love the bottle and violet-coloured juice too.

I picture this the type of sent to spray on before heading out on the town at dusk with a sexy, short dress and a leather jacket across your shoulders. Feminine but also edgy.

Don't recall it being weak on sillage, but I would like to suggest that those who find it so try Lancome's Tresor Midnight Rose (which I own and love). Very similar to my nose, minus the powdery violet note - and it has pretty incredible longevity/sillage.

Anast4s1a

Bohemian fragrance : unusual, sensual and creative.

That same one who gave gift of life to vinyl in perfumery & enclosed the lilac sky of Paris in a perfumely-bottle.
In this scent the initial ghostly lightness is replaced by a subsequent trail of expensive fragrance.
Dry peony and rose, violets, dusty-sweet blackberries and a little smell of dolls.

In it feels a freedom and truely French chic.
On my opinion, this scent was ahead of its time

sweetandnatural

I love the longevity of this fragrance and the feminine sassy way it makes me feel when I wear it. You have to like the original Paris to appreciate this because the dna of that is in this. I realize that Paris doesnt suit certain people but for me it is the perfect loud, modern, almost skanky rose scent. Therefore, Parisienne is wonderful! Its softer than Paris, fruitier and less in your face. I lucked out and found a large bottle of Parisienne on ebay for little money ~ the bottle is lovely and the juice is intoxicating.

elledeelee

I was so excited to test this one because of the rose with the unusual addition of vinyl, but all I really got was blackberries and sugar. While this is feminine and youthful, there is a darkness to the undertones, which does give this scent an edge, but overall it's still too sweet and fruity for me which is disappointing. I did get the vinyl note but definitely not enough of it. It's a nice scent, but really not for me.

justchillinxo

Reminds me a lot of Valentino Donna.

ParisLoveXo

Ok just received this!!!
At first spray a blast of Rose/cranberry/blackberry . I love it but then it fades to Almost plastic/rubber smell which of course is the Vinyl mixed with this almost menthol/Smokey scent which I’m assuming is the Vetyver. Mixed with patchouli and the violet giving it still that floral scent .

Final thoughts with all of that together it sounds like a crazy mixture but I like it , it’s different . I do enjoy , smells a little more mature but yet feminine and sweet.

suzannessharief

It lasted 13 seconds on my skin!

turkishgirl

smell like a lot of violet and berry with roses then the drydown smell like pea (no joke lol) disapointed...

Ebsarz

Fruits with some dark undertones.Still energetic and uplifting.Slightly sweet. Not girly but not for mature woman too. It smeels great, but not my cup of tea. I feel like this type of scents doesn't match my personality at all. It's too fruity for my taste. Also my image of 'parisian woman'is bold, powerfull, feminine but not in the pinky way. This perfume doesn't gave me that Parisian vibes.I found Cinema more parisian than Parisienne.

coucoupetite

This simply just cheers me up every time I spray it on me. A masterpiece with well balanced peachy/berry and rosy smell. It's so suitable for a spring or early summer day. It's the bottle that I will repurchase.

Pooka524

The rose and Blackberry are nice. I wanted to love this. However, the vinyl note is just too plastic smelling and I can't get past it. Luckily, I just purchased a small bottle around 10ml. It would be so wonderful if it wasn't for the vinyl note.

stickkim

I love this perfume! It is light and sweet and clean. I get a lot of compliments on this one, and it is my go-to for spring/summer.

violetbelle

I can't find adjectives which would better sum up what's already been said: elegant, feminine (ultra!), romantic. I fully agree. As a non-fan of most roses, it was a pleasant surprise to fall in love with Parisienne at first spray, when I was looking for something else entirely. Powdery violet, sweet berries and nostalgic vinyl blend aptly to make this light rose youthful, timeless.

Valentineee

dglightblue

parisienne
summer test
two sprays to inner forearm

doesnt trike me as rosey. but ok.

the opening reminds me of pleats please edp (EDP not edt please note). Not loving the opening but its fine.
its not pungent, not like the cheaper realistic fruities (thankfully i guess im kinda over them).

the dry down i prefer - it has similarites to tresor midnight rose which i adore.

dont ask me to name each note - accord wise the list above looks about right - dont know what vinil is really.

Its a perfumey perfume - the fruit notes and i guess florals arent realistic ones they are 'perfumey' in style.

i would like to try paris out of interest.
i did get a flanker of paris but i am not keen on it.

iris_iris

I love this rose. It's quite something else because of the vinyl. Gives it kinda sharp, artificial vibe (in a good way). It's weird, like when You smell something that really shouldn't please You but it does (tires, gasoline, felt-tip pen etc).

Be warned though, this beauty has extremely poor staying power and close to none sillage.

That's why I had to give it away, it was gone after max. 1 hour. Shame.

Alces Alces

Reminds me a little of Bvlgari Rose Essentielle, probably because of the blackberry and rose combination. Parisienne has a little of that lipstick smell from the violet and vinyl, just a modern edge that keeps it from being old fashioned or classic. If I detect the vinyl, it's more of an aromachemical note that makes this very modern, certainly not the new shower curtain sort of vinyl I was almost hoping for.

Yes, I wanted the shower curtain/new Barbie note, but actually that would have become cloying had they included it. Probably a wise decision to keep the vinyl note light.

The dry down makes me feel like I am at a waffle house where they have those pitchers of boysenberry syrup because it has this berry smell mixed with violet and rose that is pretty but not very natural, a plus in my book. I prefer art to nature when it comes to fragrances.

Nope, I have not been to Paris and am not even 1/1024 French, so perhaps the sophistication is lost on me...But I always find Parisienne easy to wear and uplifting. Even with the EDP I have to keep reapplying, but it is worth it.

elisita

es rico , pero no dura nada. una verguenza para ISL.

Shelleycaddy

Lovely delicate smell. Kind of reminds me of Palma violets! Rose scent is definitely a leading note.

WhiteVelvet

Parisienne by YSL is a lovely scent. Very femme, sophisticated
and elegant. Lasts a long time on me, sweet and unique.
Love This One. A favorite.

Flowerstuff

i'm sorry, but i have disappointed with this top notes vinyl,it's little synthetic or new plastic but after that the notes is very beautiful especially rose scent! i feel classy and elegant

Perfumegoddess23

This is a very classy & elegant scent. The maturity in this smells sophisticated, very beautiful & long wearing. Only a minimal amount is needed & it projects divinely. On myself this smells like a beautiful powdered rose floral with soft & sensual fruity notes to compliment the powdery floral , This scent is perfect and versatile for different occasions. I love wearing this to work when I’m dressed in my lady business attire, very soft makeup a hair bun & this perfume is the icing on the cake. Lovely❥

whitewindpower

Got this as a gift from my mother, I guess she thought I was quite feminine. Wrong lol (apparently we also have very different tastes in fragrances, she likes Dior's Poison Girl and I have been avoiding gourmand perfumes all my life). It was indeed very sweet and fruity. I don't hate it but I don't find myself reaching for it because I want to, but rather 'uhm let's not let this expensive one go to waste'. I know a friend who's wearing it and her style is also completely different from me.

LiliaBetty

Oh dear, I agree with the reviewer mapache, this has the Paris dna to it. Now that I have discovered this, I’ll be stocking up on this one too coz I love Paris and I am so delighted with this Parisienne as well.

mapache

This is has a DNA of YSL Paris for sure...I get the violet/blackberry/rosey combo on the top for sure. There is underlying "woodiness", but it is sweet woodiness. The Vinyl note seems to be escaping me...???...Which may be a "good thing"...lol.This one is less "girly" than YSL Paris, but with the sweetness, it is still very feminine. I am also getting a vibe/touch of YSL Mon Paris fruitiness floating around too. A good likeable scent, overall.

haylinr94

I'll star with the good part: the persistence. On my wrist it really lasted from 11 am till 8 pm. You can truly smell those berries mixed with a hint of rose.
That being said, unfortunately for me the perfume is very very girlish. It's similar to lots of perfumes I've tried and that's why it's boooring. It doesn't deserve the name. Paris should smell a lot more sophisticated.

All in all, if you a 16-19 years old girl that is searching for a perfume to wear to the prom night, this is one of the best. It's young, flirty and a bit of bimboish. The type of perfume a queen of the prom would wear.

elisita

young, sparkling. happy and very classy smelling. love it.

waiting-for-wings

This review is based on my 7.5ml mini

This is an interesting scent. It does remind me of a sense of glamour but mostly the admiring from afar kind. Its what you'd imagine old Hollywood actresses would smell like. It's pretty and feminine but the “vinyl” accord makes it seem a little fake and distant...but that's also what makes it interesting.
It doesn't really suit me so I will not be purchasing a full size bottle but I have quite enjoyed wearing this fragrance

Mariel-fragrances

This one is so nice!
I do find that it has a very sharp “acid / sour / powdery” opening, a blast that lasts just a few seconds but it´s there and it makes my nose feel a little bit itchy. I would have believed this has a citrusy note but it doesn’t … maybe it´s the blackberry combined with the powderiness of the rose? I am not sure, but I understand that some people might not like that quick but sharp blast. However, once that thing fades, this is a truly delicate feminine and elegant rosy scent.
A beautiful floral, worth enduring the initial sharpness. So beautiful !!

This is very versatile, wearable for everyday use, to the office, to dinner with friends, to a romantic date, to a wedding I´d even say.. though I do not think this has such a great performance to endure a wedding party hahaha, but it is elegant enough and beautiful enough.
Appropriate for all year round, from winter to summer, during the day or during the night (you need to have at least one fragrance in your collection that is as wearable as this one).

I do not find many people my age wearing this fragrance (I am currently 27)… most of girls my age (here in Argentina at least) are still wearing “teen-like” perfumes like DKNY be delicious and so on.. either that, or they are all wearing La vie e´st belle.. so this one is not common in my social environment, and I always get compliments with it.
Longevity: I like to say it´s great but its more on the moderate side… 6 hours aprox.

Sillage: starts with a sharp blast, and then it becomes moderate.. by the 2nd hour it sits closer to the skin.

Bottle design: it´s nice and simple.. I am not crazy about it but I don´t hate it either haha.

Do recommend it, might repurchase it.

LindaPerfume93

I just finished this perfume. I received it as a gift and always tried to like it. For me, this scent is just fruity, but in a vulgar way. I never felt that I had an expensive YSL perfume when wearing it. It also appeared very synthetic to me... now I know it´s because of that weird-ass ,,vinyl" note. Definitely not my cup of tee.
Nice bottle, though.

lunareclipse

Found a half used sample in my old stash. Completely forgotten how it smelled. A rose floral and some dessert I've eaten lately... Yes, red dessert wine! Thank you @Treslicious! It reminds me of christmas liqueur weihnachtslikör, dark luscious berries and spices, yummm! No vinyl to me, but I get the old school lipstick. Nice and smooth. I keep sniffing my arm. Would I buy? Not sure I'll ever like it that much. I already have two wonderful and unique rose scents, Florabotanica and Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection. But I'd love to get a new sample next time I'm in the store.

Midnight Lady

Rose, slightly sour cranberries, juicy blackberry is what gets to my nose when this fragrances opens up. Later on I can detect some musk and violets. Woodsy notes are not really present here for me.

Not really my cup of tea, but I think it's quite a good fruit-floral in it's genre.

HelenaZ

Beautiful! I'd love the vinyl to be stronger though, that was the note i was the most excited for. Longevity could be better and so could projection!

mirenaf

On me it's only violets... It's not bad, but... it's not my kind of fragrance. The bottle is beautiful.

Gellert77

Parisienne, EDP:
For years I used to buy the springtime version of YSL's Paris. It was my wedding perfume too. Of course I have the classic Paris as well, but to be quite honest, I have always preferred the springtime versions. If I have wanted more depth I have used Fragonard's Emilie (I have the metal sprayer flacon).
As for Parisienne, I really truly like the perfume. As already revealed, I love the Paris family of scents and the only reason I won't say I love Parisienne, is that I have a serious problem with the longevity and sillage of the scent - on me almost immediately a skin scent. To be able to smell the scent, I spray a little on the collar of the shirt I'm wearing. I love the combination of rose and berries - always a sure bet for me, when exploring new fragrances -, and Parisienne sure does combine the two beautifully.(!) Personally I get no vinyl scent at all from the fragrance.
I am dreaming of finding Parisienne a l'Extreme on the net to get a better longevity and sillage of the scent. As for now, having already sprayed almost a half of my 50 ml bottle I'm thinking of getting the 90 ml bottle. Or maybe just another bottle to carry in my bag to be able to reapply during the day.
Oh why, oh why... such a perfect scent with such a poor longevity!

ShiraJemJem

Hottest and sexiest rose ever! I love the bold mix of rose, berries and vinyl. Unusual but so romantic. I love how vinyl is not overwhelming rose but it gives this fragrance the 'urban' feel instead.
Overall, this is such a deep and sensual rose fragrance that has modern vibe in it. For me it is not scream 'Paris' but it smell like what a fashionista would wear.

The longevity and sillage are impressive. Love this edition the most. Original is the best.

Tigi

I received this in a swap from a VERY generous member and had to swap it straight away as the peony note SCREAMS from me. (That has more to do with my chemistry than any lack of skill in blending or with the quality of the notes; obviously YSL is high quality).
Like some other very lovely, classy and not-inexpensive fragrances, this time the peony kills it for me.
But I was able to spray it forward and gift it to someone who can wear her, so it wasn't a loss at all.

meliecat

All that I`d say has been said before me here - I got thrilled by its new release and jumped at it. First I enjoyed the rose &fruit combination, but gradually I just realized that something lurking in the background. The vinyl..It is carefully composed into the fragrance, but still - makes it interesting and sickening at the same time. It is probably for the younger generation - all I got from it was a big headache. The bottle is so beautiful though!

Meja.Kast

If you're wondering what YSL Parisienne smells like, there's a hair mousse at Sephora- it's the Quai Soft Mousse and it is an exact dupe for this! :)

I would describe this as a "Barbie doll rose" scent. Beguiling, romantic, and embodying that French chicness all the way through while remaining very modern.

CoffeeCup

As a concept - wonderful!

An intriguing, interesting, sharp scent.

Would I wear it again? I don't think so. And it has nothing to do withe the scent, it's more about my perception and body chemistry - it's a child of its era, very distinctly so. Bittersweet reflection - it feels like yesterday when it was released. I smelled at the airport... I was 30, successful, expat, on a businesstrip. A thousand years ago.

creamypuff

Sweet berries in rose petal water with violets sprinkled on top.
Wonderful!

VanilllaPrincess

I swapped a bottle of Love Chloe Eau Florale today for this but the juice is a light amber colour - not purple. Have I been duped?

SailorV

Parisienne starts with a heavy dose of juicy, dark, sweet but not sugary blackberries, accompanied by rose and peony.
I'm not a huge fan of violets and I smell some violet here after a while, but it's okay as it's not the center of attention and the berries keep it from becoming dusty and too retro. It just adds a powdery floral note.
I also sense a hint of wood in the background.
The perfume feels classic and feminine in a young, elegant way. So far I would call it a very pretty fruity/berry floral.
The drydown is a bit more weird and interesting. It really does smell like the inside of a cosmetics bag, completely with face powder, liquid foundation and woody shavings from a lip liner. I wear make-up almost every day and enjoy it cause it makes me feel confident and comfortable, so this is a familiar, positive smell to me. I'm glad there's no old fashioned lipstick scent though, just a hint of rose.

I like Parisienne, but it could really last a bit longer. After a few hours it becomes so weak, and I'm not one of those people who have problems with longevity all the time.
I wish it could find the more intense flankers in a store and try them, but no such luck so far.

nazandiyar

Simply romantic, a powdery floral scent. It will be a star with a modern new bottle. Nowadays people like minimal and modern bottled powdery fragrances like Rodriguez or Zadig&Voltaire but as a fragrance Parisienne worths better. Stays long, looks like simple but really sophisticated and unique.

kati77

Rose and vinyl, or rather vinyl. There is peony and blackberry, these notes I sense right away. Sweet but also elegant. Such a nice connection.
I had 50ml EDP for a over a year, I used it intermittently.
Nice bottle, gives a feeling when I hold it in the hand with it is not just what, shape like precious stone.

Probably it is a variation far away, but referring to Paris edp from the early 1990s. Good durability of about 6/7 hours.

ssaminn

I love all berries! I love smelling them, and I love eating them! Berries are the reason I can tolerate hot summers. I stock on blackberries on my fridge and use them all year! I also love roses and violet, so it's surprising to me that I just like Parisienne and it's far from a love for me.

Parisienne smells like a summer night in the garden standing next to the blackberries tree and rose bushes while the wind blows in your hair. It's light, it's girly, and it's quite romantic. I get this image, but I also wish it could smell more natural.

Yes, it also does have a nail polish vibe. You know, that smell when you blow air to your nails to help the polish dry. Parisienne also does have a certain powderiness to it. In the dry down, unfortunately, it smells cheap. It smells like bad cheap dupes of some gourmand perfumes that I had free rollerballs of. It's most probably because of that nail polish vibe that gets prominent on my skin in the dry down.

The sillage is soft to moderate depending on how many sprays you apply. The longevity is about 3 hours. It's certainly not a fair price for what it is. I like my strong, potent perfumes, but as someone who is always on the hunt for a perfect warm weather fragrance, I wish this was at least a bit more strong. I need that punch in my perfume, at least for the first 2 hours. I don't think it's full bottle worthy for me, for that reason. I will rate this fragrance 6.5 out of 10. I wish there was something similar with better longevity and sillage. I will test Parisienne A L`Extreme if I can find it.

KRollison

This instantly reminded me of the original Paris when I first smelled this the year it was released. I liked it right away because of that as I had a small mini of the original Paris when I was very young 13 years old that I bought at the drugstore and it had spilled in my nightstand and I remember for a few years my nightstand smelled of Paris which I liked even though I thought to myself I could never wear that grown up flowery smell..for most of my life now I've worn gourmands.. Lolita Lempicka Hanae mori and so on.. in recent years I fell in love with Stella McCartney and rose smells.. especially Tresor Lancome which is also by Sophia Grosjman who created this! So I finally purchased this recently and now in my forties I'm enjoying this grown up flowery smell I remember fondly, I smell berries roses and a sophisticated powdery softness..it's the smell I remeber but more modern.. so glad I finally bought the new Paris and the bottle is gorgeous on my dresser

lipglossandabackpack

This is my go-to scent for warm days when I'm in a rush in the morning and have just thrown on something basic, like dark jeans and a t-shirt, or a simple sheath dress. What my outfit lacks, my scent makes up for. It adds fun and flirtation with the berries and violet, and a bit of uniqueness with the very prominent vinyl note. This is a scent for confident women with a feminine secret.

tiababy

Flowers, lipstick, hot asphalt, makeup bag and patent leather heels? Yes yes yes! This is exactly that. I don't usually go for fruity florals but the fruit is not too strong here, it's a unique one, and very very chic. I can totally see why Kate Moss is the face of this perfume, she's the perfect choice. And the packaging matches the scent too. Everything about it is so well done, I love this one on my first trial.

Cookietookie215

Parisienne is a total sensory experience! It transformed right infront of my eyes or should I say nose? Haha! It started out with a burst of tart cranberry and blackberries, and suddenly it became rosey and fluffy smelling. That was short lived though; right after that, those violet notes and vinyl-lacquer accords came in and it turned into an edgy, mysterious scent.
It really does smell like a fake leather makeup bag, like a fresh out of the factory kind of smell as well. It also reminded me of a the leather interior of a car that had completely absorbed the smell of those air-fresherners you hang on the rear view mirror.
I've never have smelled or experienced a scent like this. It changes quickly. It's odd. It's edgy, It's unique. It's Pretty. The perfumer(s) involved with the making of Parisienne did a great job! I think i found my signature scent.

katherinahh

I always receive compliments wearing this perfume, despite "its not my type of perfume",... I have an special afection to this scent because it stays on my clothes for so long and makes me feel very elegant

semsem_sunshine

It's a cough syrup in a luxurious bottle
The drydown is much better but not enough to buy a full bottle :/

earthrise

I really want to love this perfume, I do. I've tried.
But at the end of the day, this sadly gives me a headache, as any perfume with powdery notes in it tend to do. I love the note of roses, the faint floral scent, it's subtle, it's gentle, its classy and feminine and everything I want from a day-perfume. But with my skin-chemistry the powder scent is very obvious as well as the rose note.
I still send long eyes after this perfume whenever I am in a perfumery.

PinkRainbow

Mysterious berries, with an interesting vinyl note. Also, an aura of pink candy. Charming, like a walk in Paris at sunset. A true beauty with great longevity.

PricklyAndHot

Berries and flowers with a french charm!!!
I like this fragrance, despite it's very quiet and almost unnoticeable on me.
Sour cranberry undertones is what I exactly like in it plus nice blackberry on pink peony background with tender pink roses. Romantic and impressive at the same time.
But... YSL, please, make it stronger. Too quiet, despite I like everything except it in this fragrance.
The bottle with YSL brings me back to my Paris journeys memorials. It's as luxury as this romantic city. High class!

p.s. For this moment YSL is my favorite brand between luxuries perfume brands in general. It has french elegance and charm. Never overpowering, not depending if I like fragrance or not.

p.p.s. And there is no vynil on me luckily:))) My father used to collect it, when he was young. I have enough of them at home. But it could be catchy: Paris, old famous french songs like Edith Piaf"s... Awesome!

pool_lau

I don't recommend to anyone who wants to buy it just for the dupe of the BBW dark kiss perfume just like me. It smells nothing like the dark kiss one.
And the rose note in it is really too strong.

In 2015, I had a German housemate for one semester in university. We still talk online. Parisienne is the perfume she wore when she was here.

She is independent, wise, intelligent, brave, and well-traveled. She is also loving every minute of being single. That is the kind of woman I associate with this perfume.

Britt005

This is my go-to favourite perfume forever. I already used up some bottles and friends actually recognize me for this scent.

After I finished my last bottle of parisienne I decided to buy the original fragrance that inspired my beloved Parisienne : Paris . But yet Parisienne wins it for me...

As where paris is a complicated some how "heavy" frangrance, Parisienne is the perfect younger version.

For me it's the roses that make it so lovely, Paris has that harsh smell of violet, hiacynt, lily and iris that come out strongly, Parisienne is much sweeter thanks to the berries.

The opening of this perfume is definitely sweet from the top notes that are berries, the vinnyl gives it a sharp smell. after this the fragrance changes is a lovely deeper rose smell.

The only thing i can not like about Parisienne is the sillage and longevity. Like most rose fragrances it is soft and moderate, while I wish to smell it around myself during the day.
I sense that people around me do smell it after a few hours since I got loads of compliments every time I gently sprayed myself from tip to toe with my favourite perfum. I guess I just got used to the smell.

Just love, love, love Parisienne and I think this love will last forever since this perfume makes me happy every time I smell it.

Sara74

I've had this perfume for quite a while and it has become a little of my signature perfume. The other day I was presented to attar (arabic perfume oil) and how you can use these for layering or just as they are.
I bought an attar at Ebay with the fragrance of tonka bean in benzoin. This one is particular used as a fixative but also for its beautiful smell
Anyway back to my experiment...
I took a good swipe of the Tonka bean in benzoin on my pulse points, dabbed it and then I sprayed the Ysl Parisienne on the same points. Wow! I was blowened away. The perfume got more intense and it's character became more interesting. I could suddenly resemble scents from luxurious shops in Marrakech, as I just been there. This is a trip and I am happy to see that my favorite perfume can continue to give me pleasure even if I updated it.

FabulouslyLazy

This is a super dusty and vinylic rose. On the paper strip Parisienne smells like cardboard — a lot of perfumes do. Some of them remain cardboard also on skin, but that's not the case of Parisienne since it develops to become a quite interesting scent. The vinyl smells similar to leather, but you can tell that it's not exactly leather because of the lacquer vibe. My beloved vinyl (I've been repeating this word too many times) is definitely the dominant note alongside rose and violet; the berries are perceptible but they're not too jammy and strong. Parisienne is rather unusual, but it's also nose-catching and addictive. Don't expect a sweet romantic scent, you'd be disappointed. Don't expect a femme-fatale powerhouse fragrance either, because its projection doesn't blow you away. I think that Parisienne is more on the "cool elegance" side than on the warm, cozy and loud one. I don't see it as a passe-partout and I don't mean it in a negative way, I just mean this perfume requires a certain attitude and attire — high-heels on hot city asphalt. Ditto! One the best recent releases by YSL — I'd be glad to have one bottle on my dresser.

Omg I'm in love with this stuff. I've just finished my second bottle and I'm very sad. My husband comments on only a few of my scents when I wear them, but this is the only one that every time I wear it, he has to tell me I smell good. Or says, "which one is that again? I like that one." Every. Single. Time. I would say it's his favorite, lol. To me it smells like rose, violet and berries! And now that I see vinyl on here I smell that too, and that's amazing because I've always enjoyed the smell of a new cosmetic bag or such. This perfume I manage to go through so fast, which is rare for me because I'm notorious for not finishing them. The longevity is not the best, but definitely not the worst. It's good quality. Projects well. Lasts forever on clothes. Sweet but not too sweet. Feminine. Good for any occasion. Lovely.

Vyxn

I used to have this, in my teens. I'm a massive fan of rose perfumes that have a little bit extra to them, and this fitted the bill perfectly.

It's a very light, flirty scent, not sexy and not girly-sweet. Rose and cranberry are what dominate this perfume, personally.

Unfortunately I found that my bottle went off within a year, which was a shame. It's a bit too expensive for me if it's going to go off that quickly when I'm not wearing it every day.

Conclusion: Lovely, just not the right perfume for me.

LoveJoy22

On first spray, I cannot Stand this! To me it smells of cranberry vitamins, which I suppose is due to the Lacquer & Vinyl notes! After the nasty opening, you're left with musky powdered cranberries & a dominate scent of rose. I would definitely say that this is a Winter floral because I just couldn't stomach this in weather above 65 Degrees.

Whenever I find a perfume that doesn't smell the greatest on its on, I start playing the "Pair it game"! This works well paired with Bath & Body Works Dark Kiss Body Mist, which is a dark, sweet & sultry floral fragrance. That is the only thing that makes Parisienne tolerable.

KDJ

Although the rose is prominent and gorgeous in this formula, there's something about this scent that feels off for me. I think it's that vinyl note that I really dislike. At first spritz, the sourness really turns me off.
I notice this unpleasant sourness mostly in the opening, which for me lasts about 5 or so minutes.
However, the rose really makes me cling on, and the sourness isn't so powerful after I wear it for a while. It's not my most favorite perfume, but I can see myself wearing this on days when I'm in the mood for it!

glitterbot

When this fragrance first came out, I tried it and loved it, but I never got around to buying it. So, I decided to give it another shot through Scentbird. I don't know if my body chemistry has changed, but Parisienne smells completely different than it did before. It's not very good by itself, but it pairs well with other perfumes. I think I will invest in YSL's Mon Paris instead.

UPDATE: Sept. 8, 2017 - I've tried it a few more times and it seems to be OK now. Not sure what was going on before. Still not a favorite, but now it's more tolerable.

Suzybee

I've held off on buying this bottle because I wasn't a huge fan of PARIS back in the day which bordered on smelling like my great aunt who bathed in Tea Rose.

But I gotta say, this is well done, in a Rosey kinda way. I do get hints of the original Paris which is a nice homage. It is a lovely, lovely juice. For the girlie girl in you.

epg

Holy moly, this is strong! Suffocating even. It's super sweet, screechy and begs for attention like a child throwing a tantrum in a supermarket. IMHO, it bares no resemblance to Paris. Paris is creamy and powdery. This is migraine in a bottle. Try before blind buying it.

OnlyTheOceanKnows

As a lover of the original Paris by YSL, I was afraid that Parisienne would stray too far from its source. But it didn't. Paris is still there, but she's been fizzed up, fruited up and made more modern.

This perfume ALWAYS get me compliments. It is extremely feminine and sophisticated; a woman's scent, not a girls - layers of roses, violets, something sherbetty, berries of some kind - it is really very beautiful.

It lasts well, powders down after 4 or 5 hours into something softer and less rose/violet/sherbet - another perfume that will always be in my cupboard - another keeper.

Pat_Chouli

The fresh berries are youthful and sweet, the rose adds romance and sophistication, the powder is crisp, and the vinyl touch is modern and cool.

it's feminine and bright. Good for daytime and could work in an office. FWIW the boyfriend also likes it and he's picky.

Everyone is saying it is for the under-25 crowd but I don't think different ages are relegated to different perfume types....

Tussa

Very classic perfume, nice, old fashioned in my opinion, nothing special. Use yours bucks smarter, there is os many more exciting perfumes out there.

feeg

I like it but I don't love it.
I got Elle from YSL as a blind buy - I couldn't love it more. Probably number 2 of my all time favorites.

I read majority of the reviews here for Parisienne before blind buy plus it says it is Fruity then floral which I doubt. With my chemistry the rose and peony is too dominant for my taste plus vinyl that points out the rose in a synthetic way.
I am analyzing what I like and hate about perfumes and I found out that one thing that I don't like are pure flower Middle notes. Some pink pepper in the middle notes would just break it down a little. To me it smells like an old blues bar mixed with Jazz/Blues/Chanson singer's rose perfume who drinks and smokes.

On my clothes smell like rose soap no trace of fruit.

I will have to wear if few more times but this is my first impression after opening the bottle and sniffing it off my hand at work.

cherie97

Parisienne is a delicate powdery floral with a fruity note. It's not loud, but very warm and calm. The composition is feminine, soft. I can imagine old fashioned movie production in Paris with a backstage filled with similar scent thanks to some luxurious beauty products. This is indeed a smell of cosmetics, mixed with dusty rose and a bit of juicy berries. I wasn't sure at first, because I can't smell it on myself and I think it's such an airy scent, but this is one of a very few perfume my husband loves from the very beginning. Usually he doesn't complement on my fragrance choices as I change them a lot and he is more of a signature scent kind of guy, but he said he actually loves this on me so many times and that it's beautiful. I still don't really feel it on me, but he still did complement on it in the evening after a whole day, so it must have a pretty good staying power. The bottle is beautiful and classy, I love the glass, the liquid color and gold cup.

One thing I love about this website is the detail given to the ingredients within a perfume. I've worn Parisienne from time to time, but have never been able to figure out what the un-pretty element in it was. I knew it was a pretty floral matched with something less pretty, but I did not know it was vinyl. Now that I know, I totally am aware that it is there, whereas before, it smelled more like the bottle curdling or something hard to measure like that. I like a grown up scent that makes sense at, say, a city luncheon or business meeting that is feminine, not sporty, not citrus or young, but also not so feminine that one of the guys will think you are trying to seduce him without words. This is not the scent that will seduce a man, but it has a fascinating air of hard, grown-up woman about it that some men find appealing. For me, I'm enough a fan of the big florals, like Flowerbomb, or seductive head-turners like Tom Ford's Plum Japonais or Poison that this scent is more like a daytime change-up for me.It would never be my signature scent, but we all get tired of our signatures sometimes. I like this because it is like putting on an unlikely outfit that I rarely wear, but it sits in the back of my closet, waiting, for when I want to have a complete change of pace. I like this perfume and it would fit a woman best who doesn't like sweet or sugary things, and who likes a European edge to her scent.

Vegas Pauli

It's not imaginative or creative to call a fragrance "old lady" smelling, but that what this is. And the odd vinyl note doesn't help things here. Very powdery and slightly headache inducing to me. Bought a large spray for a steal at an outlet mall years ago and I haven't seen it since and I can see why. Let's just say me and Parisienne are not compatible.

Southern Blonde

Parisienne is a unique type of fruity floral. I was surprised. I wondered what that vinyl note would smell like but it never reached my nose. This is berries red berries cranberries for days. It's sweet and fruity. It also has a lot of violets. It reminded me of violet and berry combos like Lolita Lempicka and Insolence. This is probably lighter than both those frags. In the final stage of the performance of this perfume I got some patchouli and sandalwood but they're not really heavy and the berries and violet still linger. I loved it but it was nothing to go home and make a YouTube Fragrance Review for. Still it has a sweetness and delicacy I like. Perfect to wear not to impress any dates or to make a statement just to wear for yourself and for your girlfriends. Lovely.

Ailee

very fresh and fruity, like sour bubblegum. candy-like sweetness. it is powdery.

Where do I begin?

Let’s start with the memories I associate with this perfume:

My ex-boyfriend bought me another perfume from the Tokyo Milk Dark Femme Fatale collection, (a straight-up in-your-face heavy white floral with a smoky base, La Vie La Mort), and after we broke up, I was thinking about how scent is closely associated with memory, and I wanted to forget, and so I knew I was in the market for another perfume. So I took some girlfriends out shopping, and in the end we picked this little pretty bottle out. (Probably as far from La Vie La Mort I could go)

Just the weight of the cap indicates its worth. It feels heavy, and luxurious. My only complaint: the words “Parisienne” only appear in microscopic letters at the bottom on the bottle.

As a makeup artist, this opens with a very familiar smell – a splash of berries with the characteristic vinyl (used in nail polishes, and some cosmetics, I believe). I didn’t think I’d like this strange note, one of a kind, but I suppose its my nose recognizing this note and immediately I think – glam, beautiful, and that strange type of confidence makeup brings me.

Then most definitely, I get a steady, dominating rose. I can’t really smell the other flowers, maybe a little violet, but definitely a proud rose. Don’t get me wrong – this is not a generic, old-fashioned, boring rose; it is a classic, confident rose with an attitude. I think it is very appropriately named, it makes me think of a colorful, vibrant night in Paris, in a little black coat and red lipstick (you know that image…). Sometimes I imagine a funfair evening or an amusement park ride late at night. Just a punch of colors smashed together. It’s beautiful. The dry-down I can only describe as “anchoring” I guess – I do smell the wood, the patchouli, and I think it compliments the rose perfectly.

Bought the 3oz bottle at Sephora, about half gone by now. Sillage is moderate. Strangely, I find this is more popular with the ladies than with guys, which is totally okay with me. It lasts all day on my skin, from morning to midnight. And lol, this has become my “break-up”, “moving-on”, “back in the market”, “Proud solo” fragrance. Whenever I have getting over a relationship, I reach for this. It’s cool, pretty, and reminds me of days of healing and finding love again.

For: A classic girl with an attitude, a perfectionist and a wild dreamer. She doesn’t need a man. She is independent. Rose is her weapon.

This was a blind buy for me simply based on my love for Paris and the beauty of the bottle. Lesson VERY WELL learned. This is a vile, repugnant, and very offensive scent for me. It opened as a raspberry bomb even though it's not one of the notes listed. I really dislike raspberry notes (especially the obviously sharp, cheap ones, as this is) so I was glad when that faded in the first couple of minutes. But it was followed by the most offensive vinyl, plasticy odor one can imagine. It began to sting my nose and make my sinuses burn and within 10 minutes, I felt lightheaded and had to lie down. I couldn't get it off fast enough. Even after washing with soap and changing my clothes, that plasticy burn still lingers in the air and continues to violate my senses. I thought this scent might push me beyond my comfort zones, but I will never understand vinyl as a note. Perisienne is less like the romance and delicate beauty of a tree-lined boulevard in Paris and more like putting your whole head inside one of those cheap, plastic cosmetics bags at Wal-Mart that's filled with knock-off brand raspberry Lifesavers that are past their prime. It's just repugnant!

faoumed

When I smelled this perfume it remembered me of Paris and the powdery note is just fabulous !!!

Madrona

From the nose behind YSL's 1983 classic "Paris" comes the to my nose infinitely more tolerable "Parisienne". Violet and rose are still prominent, but this is lighter, sweeter, younger and I in every way prefer it to Kenzo's 2000 icon "Flower" (which also features strong accords of violet and rose, and just like Paris displays a not-so-flattering cat pee accord on my skin). I do not detect much of a vinyl note, maybe faintly to give it a bit of an edge. My general impression seems to be "spring in a bottle".

miletas89

This perfume reminds me of the Bulgarian rose oil my mom used to keep in tiny glass vials around the house. If you've ever smelled Bulgarian rose oil, you know it's a bit different than all other varieties of rose oil. My hat goes off to Sophia Grojsman for whatever she did to get it to smell like this. The first time I tried this perfume, I was just heading off to college. It brought me such a wonderful nostalgia that I bought it and wore only it all through my undergrad years. I recently smelled this again and decided to repurchase - not only are so many wonderful memories are associated with this scent, but it is also just beautiful in and of itself. The rose here is light and sparkling, but it isn't the light floral scent of bathroom fresheners. It's grounded in base that gives it some depth and sexiness, and it has a very feminine sweetness about it that adds to its sensuality.

twinklestar.pa

I bought this thinking it would be like PARIS but with that lovely vinyl note added. Sadly, there is a piercing sour fruity smell which develops instantly and which persists.

It's unbearable. I've had it for years and have given it many chances. I love the pink bottle. I wanted a floral perfume.

Well, that's my story. Better try this one on before you buy, ladies and gentlemen.

Gigi The Fashionista

This fragrance with it's vinyl note evokes the Pink Martini Sympathique album and the song Je Ne Veux Pas Travailler (I don't want to work). It does feel like you want to get into a hotel suite in Paris like the Plaza Athenee and spoil yourself with perfume, expensive clothes and accessories, shoes, handbags and room service. It's a sweet fruity floral fragrance, subtle, soft, girly and very French but the American's idealized version of a French girl. It smells of roses, peonies, violets, topped with cranberries. There is supposed to be patchouli but the patchouli has been stripped of it's indolic aspects and its smokiness. It's a subdued patchouli and the dry down is more a light musk. This is a sweet beautiful feel good fragrance. I feel a lot like a young Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, being photographed in Givenchy in the staircase at the Louvre by the Winged Victory statue. "Take the picture! Take the picture!". It's a bubbly fresh sweet lovely fragrance of spring time. I'm so glad it hasn't been discontinued. If you like fruity floral fragrances but with a little something extra - the vinyl note and musk, this is for you.

Renata tang

It is really fruity. People are saying it smells like vintage makeup so that I tried this, however, I think it smells nothing like makeup/lipstick.

lovealwaysalisa

I have been testing this fragrance for a few days now. On first impression, I didn't really like it. It smelled like sweetarts candies and nail polish to me.The vinyl/lacquer note was off-putting . However, I have learned to not always make any decision on first impression, so I wore it the entire day, and the next day and the next, and now I must say that I may actually love this fragrance. It starts off quite sweet and "berryish" but settles and dries down to a very beautiful and unique sweet and fresh floral with that vinyl undertone , and with a powdery musk, which comes off very soft on my skin chemistry. Almost a dainty kind of scent in the drydown. Very well done YSL! The color of the liquid fits perfectly with the scent as well. I can smell violets in this. If i had to pick a season and time of day I would say this is great for daytime wear in spring and summer. Longevity on me is about 3 hrs and sillage soft to moderate. A very "pretty" and "modern" fragrance.

EDIT: After wearing this for awhile, I have decided it's really not for me. The vinyl note is just to strong for my liking. It is also too tart. I like it but won't be purchasing a full bottle afterall.

sarah_eliz

This perfume breaks my heart.

When I first smelt this, I became in lust with it. I had to have it. I bought a 90ml without letting it fully develop on my skin, something I don't regularity do. But as luck would have it, it turned into a buttery, plastic mess on me. To the point where I feel my stomach churn if I get to close to the spot where I sprayed it. At first, the vinyl note enticed me but not particularly after I found out what that note was. Vinyl? Alright. I love records. Cool. Different... No, Synthetic. Maybe this would be almost perfect if it rid itself of its vinyl note. I will never know. I understand that perhaps that the goal was give this an edge, a dangerous element, but it just doesn't work for me or my skin.

On a brighter note (no pun intended): The bottle is to die for. I am keeping it because it's beautiful to look at.

magnoliapetals2011

Beautiful♥ Thsts all I can say a absolutely beautiful timeless fregrence. Remibds me of a beautiful spring or summer day , and in the winter you feel soft and think of spring. Just beautifully done. Will be buying for my anniversary or birthday ♥

whimsicalpopsicle

I can totally smell the vinyl note on my t-shirt and somehow I don't mind. In fact I like it. :) Blends nicely with other sweet notes. Nothing mind-blowing, just a nice airy, inoffensive, office appropriate perfume. Lightness in a chic bottle.
Btw the shape and size of 50ml bottle is perfect for a small woman's hands, so just throw it in your stylish bag so you can respritz later in the (busy) day and you're good to go. ;)

Years ago on an early morning weekday run through Tribeca, en route to the West Side, I passed by the most glamourous and beautiful woman wearing a ruffled midi skirt on Varick. She smelled SO good! I backtracked and asked her what she was wearing. Parisienne. I immediately bought it online when I got back home.

On my skin it was a bit too cloyingly sweet for my taste. What a bummer! I gifted it to my sister and she LOVED it! Worked better with her skin.

But whenever I think of Parisienne I always recall that moment and think of glamour and beauty. I still love the scent, just not on me.

badloser

I sprayed it on paper and loved it so I bought the bottle. It smelled sweet, synthetic, crisp, and watery on paper. But once on my skin, it wasn't but twenty minutes before I started smelling only a sour honey and peony. The peony did actually smell like a real flower smells, so it's not that bad if you like peonies. I kept hoping it would morph but it didn't. On the plus side it lasted a long time, maybe 5 hours without even sniffing myself.

applestrudle

It smells like sweet milky vanilla rose, but not like candy, it smells watery.

senalica

Very girly and sweet. Not the syrup-y sugar-y sweet though, the sweetness in this fragrance comes from flowers and fruit. Quite a tasteful aroma, it's light and romantic, but for me it lacks some depth and intensity. And longevity is very weak - I could barely smell anything on my skin after an hour.

dea.dvornik

I hate it. Got i as a present a gave it away ... too sweet , sugary, cotton candy in a bottle. I imagine Barbie doll would wear this perfume....Not for me.

mushroom8118

I owed it to my husband again (he find this perfume lovely). I got this from my husband for my anniversary and I think it is indeed very sexy and delicate. Not offending at all, flowery, classy, lady-like, bit powdery but not to overwhelming like No.5 and not sticky sweet, as other pink flower fragrances, love the violet and peonies in it, and the first burst of berries is not candy like, almost natural.

In my opinion, it is not a recommended scent for young girls. But perfect for seductive woman in the 30s like me (opsss). Elegant indeed and would definitely repurchase any perfume that my husband love :)

The_Entity

I thought this would be more interesting with the vinyl notes and all, shame all I got was aload of berries, quite disappointed :/

dsty

Parisienne is another different type of rose to add to my growing list: the urban rose, as sweet and feminine as any but with a synthetic edge. I really like it!
The vinyl is very much the standout feature, because apart from that it's a rather typical floral fruity rose scent, albeit a well executed one: soft and quite sweet but not too much, with some extra depth from the violets and some extra juiciness from the berries. Very nice, but not exactly original. It's the vinyl note that makes it interesting: it makes Parisienne smell natural and synthetic all at once, which is a cool trick, and I buy the "urban" marketing completely. Just because of this contrast, the synthetic note doesn't bother me at all, by the way - it feels like it's there on purpose and not like an unfortunate failure that might ruin my lungs at any moment. Also, it doesn't linger all the way through the impressive life span of the scent, but fades into the background after a couple of hours so there's no danger of getting tired of what might start to feel gimmicky otherwise.
Altogether ik makes for a scent that's still very wearable and feminine, but not in danger of feeling too safe or boring. I'm not in love but I appreciate it very much, and I'll use up my decant with pleasure.

Nicoscent90

Just bought this compulsively as it reminds me of going on holiday, spritzing away at the duty free shops. with much consideration i decided to cough up and buy it. On the first spray I immediately detect floral notes predominately the rose and then as i continue to sniff at my wrist i sense a plasticy vibe - which i'm guessing is the vinyl note. The dry down is actually quite pleasant with a nice muted sweet floral smell.

perfumeaddiction

Ok so I am not a lover of rose at all, not in any shape or form, or wait am I? I never found a fragrance that had rose I liked until this one. Yes there is a prominent rose here but it's been so well done so delicately that it's not that heavy icky rose that I am repulsed by. I don't know how YSL did it or if there is another scent that helps blend in the rose more smoothly. Honestly this is a gorgeous fragrance. If you are repelled by rose of course you might not enjoy this but give a sample a try. I have got to say that I might actually love this one. It's so soft, feminine, perfect for most ages. Not a real teen scent, but perfect for 20's and up. I do not find it mature smelling (I am 46) and could wear it as can younger or older ladies. I'll report on the longevity later as I give it time to wear on me.

itra

I wanted this perfume so much when I tested it on paper and after which my wrist.

Waited a few days before buying it.

Now,that I owned Parisienne,I don't enjoy it at all.The vinyl note is just too much for me.When I tested it,I feel that the vinyl note makes the perfume special. But when I wore it day in...day out...it is just too hmm...plastic smelling for me.My nose cannot take it.And I have read some of the other reviews which state their dislike for the vinyl note.I have to agree with them.

Not my favourite perfume.

Yes,it is feminine and happy smelling but not for me.

ThaliaThomas

this is my signature scent and everyone around me loves the the way it smells. I'm almost over the fourth bottle at the moment. Lasts about 7 hours on me. I just love this perfume!

lindafoley58

I would not say that this is in the top five of my favorites that if I died and had to go to heaven and take this with me. But it definitely falls in the category of 6 to 10 fragrances that I love. I don't think that I would use this everyday. I would say that I would use this fragrance sparingly on certain occasions. It's a little bit more woodsey for my taste.

LovelyKara

Love this perfume I smelled it at the store and thought it was very pretty. Rose is my fav scent , I find this very girlie and lovely smelling. I plan on getting a full sized bottle when I go shopping this weekend. I love YSL products.

PurpleNewt

I adore this perfume. It's been my signature for a few years and I wore it on my wedding day. I love love love the EDP it's gorgeous violets and Roses with a sweet hit of berries and lasts for around 6 hrs on my skin and days on clothes.

I was bought the EDT for Christmas and it's nowhere near as nice so I would recommend the EDP!

sail0rmars

I'm very happy to receive my bottle of Parisienne! I had this perfume in mind for years and at last I have it. It's great for spring-summer, very fresh and feminine! It's the perfume for any occasion, any time of the day, cozy and unique. I'm also impressed by the sillage: Two sprays on me filled the whole room!

Blåsten

Just got this on my trip to France. powerful, chick, and independent, just like French women. it reminds me, of walking in the parks, near the Eiffel Tower, in the spring. very berry and rose kind of perfume, not for everybody. but still light and summer like fragrance. try it out. it is nothing like its "big sister" Paris.

risarii

Berries and roses, juicy and feminine... then a vinyl note reminiscent to a makeup bag. Hearing about that note piqued my interest, but after trying to on my skin, I don't like it. It's rather jarring. While I appreciate something rather unique, it doesn't work with my skin. I love the perfume up until the very last stages, where that vinyl note overpowers everything else; it doesn't gradually introducee itself and mingle with the other notes, it comes out of nowhere and pushes everything else out of the picture. Perhaps if they had gone a little easier on it, it would've worked for me.

However, I give it props for having something interesting, the beautiful bottle, nice longevity and sillage, as well as the glorious berry-rose mixture which is delicious and feminine. Perhaps one day I'll try it and fall in love, plastic makeup bag note and all.

P.S. If you like Parisienne but not the vinyl note, you might try Paris, which is feminine, rosy and makeup like but without the vinyl/plastic.

victoria.mei1992

Very sour. Didn't like it.

margarita.angelova

I sense something a bit outdated about this perfume. It's OK overall but I think it would suit best an elderly lady. I don't find it particularly interesting.

Second try: Hm! I got heavily hit by violets this time and I like it better than before. Now the weather is a lot warmer - probably this is why I find it so different. It's an elegant perfume. Not really special and a bit too sweet but still very suitable for formal wear.

snel hest

I love this, it's very simple and fresh. Roses, violets and berries in perfect sweet harmony. I can't get enough of it!

foxy_princess

this smells like you had a victoria's secret body mist leak inside a makeup bag where you happened to have some expensive vintage pressed powders, and then you took a sniff inside the bag

regardless it smells really nice and it's definitely a quality scent. this lasts well over 10 hours on me. my clothes smell of it for days too. I even put my jacket in the laundry and it still smelled like this

The original Paris is so lovely, I thought that a scent with a bit more juicy fruit and vetiver would be lovely. However, I found the top notes a bit synthetic - maybe they're supposed to with vinyl as a note? - anyway, I don't really want to smell like plastic fruit. The rose and violet are passable, but nowhere near as nice as in the original Paris. In fact, none of this is as nice as the original Paris. The longevity was poor too.

If you want to smell these notes done properly, please see Lipstick Rose. Maybe that is why I am so harsh on Parisienne... Anyway, a definite pass. A shame the juice doesn't live up to the bottle.

A favourite but I just can't smell it on myself for long enough. I love rose based fragrances, & the red currant makes it not too sweet. I need to buy some more to see if I get the vinyl notes! Great for any occasion, not too heady & should not offend anyone. I have had complements wearing this.

Errhead

This has been a long-standing favorite of mine. Its the quintessential lady-like scent that just seems to meld really well with my skin. Its flirty, feminine, romantic, and easy to wear. I also own the l'extreme flanker of this, and actually prefer the original. Its one of a handful of perfumes my husband actually loves (he's usually quite indifferent to fragrances). Sillage initially is moderate, then after several hours becomes a skin scent. Longevity is ridiculous at 12 hours. Highly recommend!

kpetrova

Very nice fragrance, for women that are classy and chic (reflects very well parisian women haha).
Unfortunately, it doesn't last on me very well... I won't repurchase it even thought I love the scent.

emtopaz

To me, this is similar to Chloé eau de parfum, a smell you can recognise on others who wear it, apart from it has a sweeter note, I'm guessing the fruit it contains? Beautycrush on YouTube has spoken about this, which is the prime reason I bought it when I shouldn't have (bad to be persuaded so easily by someone who wasn't even trying to make anyone buy it, I know!). It's something you have to be in the mood for, and I'm starting to get a bit fed up of it, but it's a pleasant scent, nonetheless.

alice.livings

This is something of a discordant fragrance. For me, blackberries and redcurrant (rather than cranberry) come on strong early, sharp and sweet and very, very tart. It then quickly settles into a mix of rose, musk and, yes, vinyl. The drydown smells like boutique hair lacquer mixed with a cheap body spray. Maybe it’s just my skin, because interestingly, on the blotter it still smells of a very lovely uncomplicated rose. A peculiar fragrance. I’m not sure about this one.

PLUMPIE

Very sweet and powdery. Smells like parmaviolets on me but that's about it. Maybe some light woods but mostly violets.

I tried it on my skin, and at first I loved the fruity vinyl combo, it reminded me of a transparent plastic bag of toys (to me is good but I have no trouble if you don't like that because it's weird). But after the first hour, among the roses, something horrid emerged, a smell like pencil shavings. It was disgusting. After that, the drydown settled into something nicer and devoid of that awful note. I had the same experience testing the fragrance in different shops, so I don't know if it's my skin chemistry or just the fragrance. I wanted to buy it but can't stand the weird note. Too sad.

I'm a simple person, and this perfume pleases me. I have a few deeper and more complex perfumes, but I'm almost always drawn to things like this, it really is very pretty. I'm not placing any particular notes in it, although I can definitely smell the rose, which I LOVE. There's a fruity side with it so it's sweet, not woody or powdery. I would call it a day scent, not really mature enough for anything formal. My only real complaint is a common one I seem to have, that my skin seems to eat it, it stays extremely close then I can't smell anything after an hour or so. That could just be my own issue though. Comparable maybe to baby doll but I like this a little better, wish I had bought this sooner.

Totally agree with redhead_rachel89.....
The vinyl note ruines it for me, it feels like i'm wearing a transparent plastic bag or in the best case i'm wearing lipstick all over my body!

I really wanted to love this gorgeously sweet cocktail of berries, pears, roses, peonies and violets. Parisienne is cheeky, flirty, feminine and isn't too sweet. It's perfect for daily use during spring and summer.

Unfortunately, my skin did not agree. In the beginning, all the fruity and flowery notes were so playful and dancing on my skin until they were tarnished by a nagging, sour note, followed by something very synthetic/plastic smelling (this must be the vinyl), and I started to feel like I smelt of raspberry lollies... and then, it vanished! Very disappointing! Sorry to anyone that adores it, but I guess my chemistry doesn't work with this one.

UPDATE: I've been doing some head-scratching with this one and trying to work out what that sour note was for future reference. I'm wondering if it was the combination of vinyl and berries on my skin. I've tried other perfumes with the same berries before and they're never usually this sour on my skin. So strange.

This is a headache in a bottle for me. Very syrupy, cloying and, to be brutally honest, cheap smelling in my opinion.

It reminds me of something a teenager would wear. It's unsophisticated, brash, almost air-freshener like in it's composition.

One positive thing I will say about it is it seems to have remarkable longevity and projection as I can't get rid of the smell on my skin for love nor money!

Suffice to say this is not for me and I'll be passing on my bottle at the earliest opportunity. That's what you get for blind-buying a fragrance - when will I learn?!

Bloodlust

I wanted to delete my old review of Parisienne, and post an updated one.

I've owned Parisienne for over a year now, and I think I've come full-circle with my indecisive/love/hate relationship with this scent. At this point, it's become a staple in my collection & I would feel incomplete without it! It's the scent that started my ever-expanding collection of "makeup/hairspray scented" 'fumes.

Parisienne is not the most ground-breaking scent; It's a floral/fruity with a slight edge, that ominous vinyl accord causing this to be a fairly polarizing fragrance. I personally thank the vinyl note for giving this fragrance some beastly longevity (yeah, I said it! I have no troubles with longevity with this one!), and for rounding out some of the ultra-sweetness.

If you're looking for an anyday, any season, any age feminine fragrance, packed with sugar, spice, everything nice, and all things pink and frilly - Parisienne is your girl! An uplifting, sweet little gem, whose juice is enclosed in one of my favorite bottles in my collection.

A blind buy and surprising well worth it! I thought the vinyl and lacquer accords would scare me, but I was also intrigued by them. A well made fragrance with the base layers coming through the bright and spicy berries that amazingly last all day. I wore it yesterday and can still smell some spicy blackberries on my wrists this morning. The idea of smelling like a cosmetic bag is really working. What could be more feminine than that? I work in a store and received several compliments from customers yesterday. YSL Parisienne will always be in my scent collection.

phyucinmyint

There's nothing to complain about. The rose is perfect. The vinyl note is perfect. The sweet berries are perfect. The hint of musk and sandlewood combines into a peaceful beautiful base. This is one of my top 3.

SzekelyEmoke

To me this is a sweet-fresh perfume. Did not expect to like it so much! :)

Pepperflower

As a sucker for roses, enjoying YSL Paris, and makeup I had to try this as well. I'm on the search for a makeup-cosmetic-artificial-feminine perfume.
I Love the unique and artificial touch of vinyl; I imagine high heels, all things pink and purple, and an over stuffed cosmetic bag which I find to be all fabulous. But the berries are too juicy sweet and overpowering for my liking. Stays on forever. I think this is a cute fragrance but not grown up enough for me!

courant

Toxic tosh. Ghastly.

Anaïs Nin

Ahh this is so nice and romantic! Thanks to the lovely Luna Rebel for gifting me a sample of this.
The nose Sophia Grosjman created Paris in the 80's. It is a classic scent of the 80's, it is an extravagant retro-style rose scent. Parisenne (created by the same nose) is the younger sister of Paris. It is a powdery violet rose scent, but it is not quite as powdery as the original Paris. It is rose with a sassy side with a tangy bite from the cranberries. The first spray was the sweet blackberries, cranberry and the vinyl note. My grandma had vinyl covering her antique furniture, the scent in Parisenne reminded me so much of that. But only briefly and not as aggressive as the covering, vinyl was on my skin for a very short time. The base is a very sexy blend of warm musk, sandalwood and vetyver.
