Amy Harmon is a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Times Bestselling author. Amy knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, and she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Having grown up in the middle of wheat fields without a television, with only her books and her siblings to entertain her, she developed a strong sense of what made a good story. Her books are now being published in two dozen languages, truly a dream come true for a little country girl.

Amy Harmon has written eighteen novels including the USA Today Bestsellers, Making Faces and Running Barefoot, as well as The Law of Moses, Infinity + One and the New York Times Bestseller, A Different Blue. Her fantasy novel, The Bir

It is something I do in ALL my books, which is why I was so hurt by a few big reviewers insinuating that I was trying to "trick" my readers as a sales strategy by not talking about the spiritual aspect in The Law of Moses in the blurb. I'm not sure what they wanted, but whatever happened to reading a blurb, looking at a cover, and saying "hey, looks interesting." The book is inexpensive, a sample is available, and if it doesn't suit you, you can stop reading and return it for a full refund from Amazon, so how it could possibly be a sales strategy is beyond me. I have a touch of the spiritual in all the stories I write because it is how I feel about life in general. There is so much we don't understand and so much in my own life that I can not explain, that it feels very natural for me to include these special little things in my books. Thank you for reading, and thank you for this message. <3(less)

The Outlaw is Coming . . .

There was a point in writing The Outlaw Noble Salt where I was overcome with grief. I’ve written some very sad historical novels, novels about war and loss and incredible grit, so to be “struck down” by this novel, in particular, was unexpected. I thought maybe it was me—my life, my career, the crisis of faith I seem to be continually caught in—and not the book at all. Then in the midst of a heart Read more of this blog post »

“If God made all our faces, did he laugh when he made me?

Does he make the legs that cannot walk and eyes that cannot see?

Does he curl the hair upon my head 'til it rebels in wild defiance?

Does he close the ears of a deaf man to make him more reliant?

Is the way I look a coincidence or just a twist of fate?

If he made me this way, is it okay, to blame him for the things I hate?

For the flaws that seem to worsen every time I see a mirror,For the ugliness I see in me, for the loathing and the fear.

Does he sculpt us for his pleasure, for a reason I can't see?

If God makes all our faces, did he laugh when he made me?”

“True beauty, the kind that doesn't fade or wash off, takes time. It takes incredible endurance. It is the slow drip that creates the stalactite, the shaking of the Earth that creates mountains, the constant pounding of the waves that breaks up the rocks and smooths the rough edges. And from the violence, the furor, the raging of the winds, the roaring of the waters, something better emerges, something that would have otherwise never existed.
And so we endure. We have faith that there is purpose. We hope for things we can't see. We believe there are lessons in loss, power in love, and that we have within us the potential for a beauty so magnificent, our bodies can't contain it.”

“Fat’ is usually the first insult a girl throws at another girl when she wants to hurt her.

I mean, is ‘fat’ really the worst thing a human being can be? Is ‘fat’ worse than ‘vindictive’, ‘jealous’, ‘shallow’, ‘vain’, ‘boring’ or ‘cruel’? Not to me; but then, you might retort, what do I know about the pressure to be skinny? I’m not in the business of being judged on my looks, what with being a writer and earning my living by using my brain…

I went to the British Book Awards that evening. After the award ceremony I bumped into a woman I hadn’t seen for nearly three years. The first thing she said to me? ‘You’ve lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw you!’

‘Well,’ I said, slightly nonplussed, ‘the last time you saw me I’d just had a baby.’

What I felt like saying was, ‘I’ve produced my third child and my sixth novel since I last saw you. Aren’t either of those things more important, more interesting, than my size?’ But no – my waist looked smaller! Forget the kid and the book: finally, something to celebrate!

I’ve got two daughters who will have to make their way in this skinny-obsessed world, and it worries me, because I don’t want them to be empty-headed, self-obsessed, emaciated clones; I’d rather they were independent, interesting, idealistic, kind, opinionated, original, funny – a thousand things, before ‘thin’. And frankly, I’d rather they didn’t give a gust of stinking chihuahua flatulence whether the woman standing next to them has fleshier knees than they do. Let my girls be Hermiones, rather than Pansy Parkinsons.”

AℳY♔Queen of Fat cats♔What a wonderful day! To: Dear Amy Harmon sensei and her publishing team
*takes a bow*
It's me again. I just want to tell you that I suspect goodreads staff don't like authors as AWESOMETACULAR as yourself cuz a few of the staffers might have been involved with literary agents...and I suspect your books take a huge chunk of their new releases earnings. No wonder because Making Faces by Amy Harmon is ....TIMELESS!!! So so good!
But anyway, the staff targeted Making faces this year during romance week. Now they don't erase the trolls that are there posting spam on Making faces page. I always notice cuz I recommend Making faces all the time as it's such a life-changing book everybody should read.

Look at this:
WTF
A huge bunch of trolls posting the same review over and over again deducing from what should be a higher rating. It's disrespectful for me as a long-time Goodreads contributor, to your hard work and to all your fans.

I guess you're really busy and have no time to deal with this, which is why I hope this reach one of your sons or your publishing team. This targeting indie authors and their fans HAS TO STOP.

Sincerly yours
AMY-chan

I recommend Making faces and The bird and the sword to my friends all the time. I make a search in goodreads click on the recommendation feature...and...MAGIC HAPPENS!! You're books are so so good!!
Up until a week ago whenever I made a search, I got this edition (KU) on the search results
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

But see? The default cover has changed!!
description

Did you approve that change? Smashwords edition should be out of stock now, and the purchasing link is broken. Making faces is part of the KINDLE UNLIMITED ELITE!! Kindle unlimited elite=Coolest books with the coolest readers in the world!!

The KU edition should be default cover, it has been changed it back and forth in the past two days and I think whoever did the change knew that it could affect you and that's why they did it. If you're okay with this change I'll still be angry about it, but I'll accept it.
I suposse you're super busy now with your upcoming historical novel (I CAN'T WAIT!! Counting the days now!) so maybe you won't read this, but maybe someone who loves you and your books has librarian status and can edit your book to make the KU cover the default cover as it was just last week.

If this has been fixed already please ignore my message don't ignore my message. Someone might be trying to hurt your sales and it will happen again.

I hope I didn't bore you to tears! I spend a lot of time in Goodreads and my BR's for indie authors like yourself have been targeted by bad people so I'm a little on the look out of this sort of coincidence when they happen to cool writers as yourself.

Love
A.M.Y

Update 02-14-2020 5. 47 p.m.
This morning the default edition had been restored to the KU edition as it should have been as it's the edition I've been recommending for the past two years. Then someone else took the time to change it. Is it a coincidence that this is happenign during Romance week when romance authors and Goodreads are trying to showcase their own romance books?

Update 4/11/2020
I was about to send book recs using the search features and I noticed!!!!It was changed AGAIN!!!, it's back to the out of stock edition which according to my poll doesn't attract readers.
My poll
https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...
You'll only notice if you make a search, if I visit your profile I can see the correct edition.
Don't ask help to GR staff unless it's your last resort, if you could change your default editon yourself it'd be better cuz some people from the staff might be the ones changing the default editio. It may be (speculation) that your books are so so good and popular that they're threatening to the books the staff are promoting. Just to be sure do it yourself.

I'm your number 1 fan. You wrote my favorite books and I always recommeded Making faces to every single one of my friends. I hate historical fiction except when you write it. You're that good.
