Ah, Azagoth. Even grim reapers, it seems, don’t want to miss out on love. When Azagoth demands the angels send him a mate, tired of all the women he’s been required to service over the years to create children who no longer speak to him, they send Liliana, who isn’t too thrilled about the idea. She is, however, thrilled about a nifty artifact Azagoth has that she thinks she might steal. If only she can figure out how to get it out of the underworld without her angel powers. Fun times. These novellas in the 1001 dark nights collection are a fun addition to the Demonica world, just long enough to make a satisfying romance, and with plenty of steam and angel-demon snark. Azagoth and Liliana both had tortured pasts and watching them slowly come around to each other was a treat.

This is a novella read though I will say it's actually pretty lengthy at 159 pages. This author is a favourite but it has been a while since I have read her books so it was really great to slip back into this fascinating world. This is about Azagoth the Grimm Reaper the person in charge of Sheoul-Gra and Lilliana a time-travelling Angel.

Azagoth is sick of servicing snooty angels and producing Memitim children for the heavens now he wants a mate of his own and he has the leverage to ensure it happens. Liliana is blackmailed by Raphael with a no-win choice to be that mate.

So I adored Azagoths sense of humour and loved the banter between him and his new mate. Lilliana had such a sassy attitude and she wasn't scared by Azagoth giving it right back to him, these two make sparks fly with their chemistry. I also really felt for Azagoth he just wanted something for himself to brighten up his lonely existence. I especially appreciated the time travelling aspect of this and also Lilliana showing her new mate she accepted him for himself. This was a great addition to the series and I really enjoyed it.

Azagoth took on the job of being the grim reaper and one of those was servicing angels so that they could form an army. But he's tired of it...and he wants something more. He wants a mate.

description

Lilliana just wants to do her job, a job she's good at. Unfortunately, she's come to the attention of archangel Raphael and he basically gives her no choice but to be Azagoth's mate. Her only out is she has thirty days to change her mind.

I really enjoyed Azagoth and Lilliana together especially when they time traveled and the outright joy it brought Azagoth. I loved that Lilliana was able to get through to him when he was overwhelmed with all the emotions.

These two are really steamy together but I would have loved more...and more of a slow build but it's hard to do in a novella.

description

Of course, there's some drama...a little over the top but it was wonderful how things all came together at the end.

Gotta love Watcher showing up and the things her and Reaver did were great. I also enjoyed getting to know Cat which is good since she will be the heroine in Hades' book. Can't wait to see Mr. Blue Hair Mohawk get his due.

You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everybody dances with the Grim Reaper.

Azagoth is the Demonica version of Grim Reaper. He is
• between Heaven and Hell
• between demons and angels
• between time and space

He is the judge of everyone’s final punishment. So everyone is afraid of him.
You may think he has problems finding female company, but this is not the case.
Besides being really good-looking, Azagoth has a constant supply of angels that are sent by the Heaven.
You see, Azagoth is the official Sperm donor for the Memitim, the earthbound, hybrid angels.

He never made complains before, but now he has had enough. For thousands of years, inside his Greek design massive palace, he was sleeping with unwilling females, producing children that they were taken away from him and he had to look after the Sheoul-gra (the holding tank for demon souls) at the same time. He is lonely, tired and he wants a mate.

When Heaven sends the next female, he is keeping her forever.

Lilliana is a warrior angel who can travel in time. She ends up in Azagoth’s hands as a punishment after striking a deal with evil archangel Raphael.

Lilliana likes the physical appearance of Azagoth straight away:
“…an impossibly beautiful dark-haired male with eyes the color of vibrant emeralds.”
“His deep voice turned her marrow to pudding even as a wave of heat licked her skin.”
“Dear...God. He was both magnificent and frightening.”
“Lilliana resided in Heaven, where all male angels were perfect specimens of masculinity, but something about Azagoth made every last one of them seem average.”
“Azagoth’s simple elegance and raw sexuality.”

But Lilliana also starts liking Azagoth as a person. He is fair, he looks after his employees and he loves his sons or daughters very much – even if some of his children hate him.
And he thinks that he is not good enough for her. How can she be happy and content in Hell?

The story of Azagoth and Lilliana is full of passion, betrayal and acceptance. Besides the dark settings, their story is incredibly romantic and sweet. Only Larissa Ione can make a dark soul, likeable.

Azagoth, the Grim Reaper & ex-angel, wants a mate. He gets one in the form of Lilliana, a time travel angel who's forced into his realm.

Azagoth is all broody, lonely, and cold cuz it sucks living in hell alone and forgotten. He's not the greatest when he first meets with Lilliana, but he shows signs of a sense of humor. I really like their time travel scenes for showing that there's more to him.

Lilliana was a sort of odd character, I kept picturing her as gentle and meek, yet mouthy. She wasn't passive but seemed gentle. I liked how she saw beyond the exterior of Azagoth.

Nice addition to this series.

This book is about the Grim Reaper. Not some teenager, emo imitation of him but the actual guy. Or at least the guy as Larissa Ione sees him, which is something along these lines...

Lilliana was pretty kick-ass as well. The book was too short though. They should have gotten a full length story.

Can't wait for Revenant!

I don't want A Grim Reaper. I want THIS Grim f*cking Reaper for meself!
You may ask why. Well, because!

Ok, I'm being vague here but I won't thoroughly dissect this installment for you since that is why we read books. But I want him. Truly. And let me count the ways.

“The door burst open and over six and a half feet of dangerously handsome male strode into the library. Black military-style pants and a black turtleneck made Azagoth seem even larger, sleeker, and deadlier, but then, he’d never come across as anything less than one hundred percent lethal grace.”

Why do these Romeos always have to be over 6 feet tall and ripped? *sigh*

“Azagoth also had handcuffs hanging from a wooden rack next to the spanking bench. All sorts of restraints, whips, paddles, gags, and items she couldn’t identify kept those cuffs company, and she shivered.”
Oh dear heavens! That spanking bench and the visuals it gave me! *Runs icy cold glass along neck!*

“Azagoth The Sleek and Deadly was sporting a baseball bat between his legs.”
I swear when I read this bit, I was at work and almost threw a colleague against a wall to rub myself all over him like a slutty kit cat on a scratching post--this book, gosh! but Azagoth is seriously H O T !
I was riding a tsunami of hormones the entire time I was reading this installment.

“He’d been a stud for hire for Heaven”
Oh, I do love me some Azagoth!

And heart melted as our sexy grim reaper has fallen in love for the first time and shown vulnerabilities. Whilst that's very sweet and endearing, it came across as very cheesy too and I don't do cheesiness.

Look, if you haven't read this series yet, you are seriously missing out. You wouldn't believe how amazing the world Ms Ione created.
And the angels! Ugh! Here, they are not who we would expect them to be ESP Raphael --- the mere mention of his name gets me so worked up I wanna punch him in the nose.

Verdict: Highly recommended
Read. Read. READ!

Azagoth, aka the Grim Reaper, is snarky, sexy and broody. Just the way I like them.

This story can be read as a stand alone. But why would you want to? This series is lots of fun.

Thanks for the company, Jen!

Azagoth, a powerful fallen angel is now the ruler of the demon world/hell known as Sheoul-gra.
He’s tired of being used by Heaven as a breeder of angels that are known as watchers of the human race. He’s lonely and he’s had enough and has decided that he’s had enough of being a sperm donor and refuses to continue doing it any longer.

The angels from Heaven then offer him a female mate….that should keep him happy they think!!!

So the bad angel Raphael, who’s an absolute sneak and not afraid to use any means foul that they be by sending a warrior angel named Lilliana, who he has also used some underhand things to force her to choose either be Azagoth’s mate or stripped of her powers.

Lilliana has a lot of secrets, which she keeps hidden from poor old Azagoth, who has become totally besotted with her…and she …well, boy does she feel lust for the man!!! She’s sexy, kick-ass and a total blast….wow, the time travel she does with Azagoth…..how could the guy not be crazy about her!!!!

Let me just say that this is some hot grim-reaper aka Azagoth. He’s sexy, inventive, loving and caring….did I expect that from this kind of fallen angel???? Never judge a book by its cover!!!! He’s a total engaging and endearing character.
I liked Azagoth & Lillian as a couple. A great sexual chemistry and emotional connection.

We watch has they fight the obstacles that face them as they journey together to find their HEA.

I would have like more about these two characters….this novella, whilst packed with a lot action and twists and turns, would have been so much more enjoyable if it had been a bit longer.

Quickie Review:

Azagoth is a story that I really wanted to read. I have been wanting to explore more of the 1001 Dark Nights Franchise and when I saw the blurb for this one, I was instantly intrigued. And I have had a fun time with this author in the past and was curious to see how she would handle a shorter story and I have to say how impressed I was with how this book was written. From the moment I started it, I was immediately swept away into the story. I had such a good time with this one here. It was so fantastic and I enjoyed the way this story developed. The romance was just right. Now this is how enemies to lovers should be written. It was well evolved and the angst between them was just fun. I enjoyed their bantering and the way they knew when to stand on things and when to back down. The conflicts that rise within this story felt natural and had such an entertaining value to them. I enjoyed the aspect of the forced relationship in a way and seeing how these two find balance and make a relationship work. And how it resolved in the end, was pure perfection. This couple is hands on so dreamy. They are both willing to fight for each other and I just loved that. The heroine was a very good kick ass heroine. What I was impressed with is that she isn't hard. She still is feminine in her own way, but she has her own kind of backbone that really balances out Azagoth.

Overall I found Azagoth beyond entertaining and packed a deep emotional punch that strikes deep to the heart.

Paranormal romance isn’t part of my usual reading habits. Small anecdote: I’m awfully picky in general, but even more so when it comes to reading and paranormal/fantasy romance (I blame Twilight). However, over the last few weeks, I’ve been obsessed with devouring anything paranormal romance/paranormal erotica related, especially if it involves demons. No idea what sparked this sudden fixation, but it’s here and here to stay.

I wanted something similar to R Scarlett’s series, Blackest Gold, featuring more “traditionally” demonic characters. I had that in Azagoth, just in shorter format. Did the novella feature ruin this read? No. Despite the length of this, there’s character development, an established decent storyline, entertaining characters and complications in the form of betrayal.

You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everybody dances with the Grim Reaper.

I loved the sound of demons and fallen angels. Even more so, the concept of demons living within the darkest, treacherous pits of the underworld, commanding dangerous creatures. Enter Azagoth, the Grim Reaper, the keeper of Sheoul-gra. He stands between Heaven and Hell, commands the respect of powerful demons and angels.

Azagoth isn’t just strong; he is intelligent and underneath the brooding demon is someone humourous and capable of showing emotion—towards his employees and especially Lilliana, the angel promised to be his mate. Lilliana is sweet and while her initial thoughts about Azagoth are less than fair or kind, she begins to open up towards the underworld demon.

When they come together, they’re passionate. Intense. And while the time they have together is limited, the burning chemistry between them is feverish. I can’t wait to continue reading more of Demonica Underworld as the settings and characters fit the ideal demon image in my head. If you’re searching for something fast-paced, yet still featuring a storyline, I’d recommend this series.

Second time read and review.

Definitely enjoyed diving back into this one. It doesn't hurt that worked for a certain challenge, or five hundred, but I do wish it was a big longer. These books just fly by so freaking quickly that I get a little sad/disappointed once it is over. I still enjoyed Azagoth and Lillian getting close to another. Especially since Lillian was surprised with how Azagoth truly was. Even a grim reaper deserves love girl.

Since these little novellas are so short I'm hoping that I can find the ones I've missed and try to knock those out when I can. This is one series that I can't put down.

Such a quick ass audio!

Low-key needed to snag a book that had an MPG of paranormal romance. I was going to read a book BUT someone told me this little gem existed. Now I love reading a book but lately audios are a complete life saver. So a couple of hours later, bam, this book is done and another category for a challenge is complete!

Azagoth was pretty interesting. I read a book that had the 1001 nights titled yesterday and I'm glad that I found another one. These go by so quickly and it gives you a lot more than you'd think. I love smut and this book delivered.

In this book, you will find a grim reaper wanting a mate. Enter Lilliana. Now they were like a power couple. I loved them from the moment they met. She's sent to him because she made a deal with a shady angel. Hey, it happens!

I'm so glad that she did though. These two were amazing. Their chemistry was amazing and it definitely got me wanting to dive into the next book of this series. Heck, any of the books with the 1001 night name.

Overall, where can I find a grim reaper?

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book. Larissa Ione doesn't disappoint. I remember Azagoth in Book 4, Ecstasy Unveiled and he was the jackass Grim Reaper. But this author is among the best in redeeming despicable characters.
Azagoth has been the middle man between Heaven and Hell but now he wants something of his own. Being in that desolate Sheoul-gra has just made him so lonely, that he says no more. He wants a mate and he wants this angel to stay in his realm forever. What's heaven going to do about this request and who is the poor angel tasked with keeping Azagoth in line?
Enter Lilliana, an angel whose broken a few of Raphael's rules. So the archangel strikes a deal with her that would allow her to earn a reprieval if she steals a very powerful relic from Azagoth. Can she complete this power play for heaven or will she find life on Sheoul gra isn't that bad?

Azagoth was made likable and Liliana was a watered down version of Harvester. I liked Lilli better and enjoyed her journey with Azagoth more. It was less painful and brutal. The story was a great set up for Revenant and Hades books. It also made me hate Raphael more. I'm waiting for the archangel to get his comeuppance. It was a good feel book about the reaper and his mate.

🥵Daddy Reaper🥵 Yes, pls & thx 🔥

We first met Azagoth, the Grim Reaper, in Ecstasy Unveiled, where we found out he's Idess's father. We met him again in Lethal Rider when Than made a deal with him. The books in the Demonica series have to be read in order, but Azagoth can be read as a standalone.

Azagoth is tired of living a cold and bleak existence. He wants a mate to share his immortal life with. Time travel angel Lilliana gets herself in trouble and as punishment, she's chosen as Azagoth's mate. Lilliana is forced to go to Azagoth's realm, the dark and bleary Sheoul-gra.

I guess you could call this an arranged marriage romance? 🤣 That's what I'm calling it anyway 😏 I've had a crush on Daddy Reaper since the first time we met him 🥵 Azagoth is the big bad Grim Reaper that makes everyone shit their pants. But he's sexy and he has a great sense of fashion 🥵 and I'm SO happy the author gave him a HEA. Larissa Ione chose the PERFECT mate for Azagoth.

Azagoth is a cold, emotionally constipated, and grumpy hero. With the help of Lilliana, Azagoth gets in touch with his emotions and rediscovers the joys of life. I don't want to spoil too much, but Lilliana is literally the only one who could have caused such a change in Azagoth. Her powers as a time travel angel are important to the story and man, it was so wonderful seeing Azagoth FEEL again 🥺

The backstory and the character growth of Azagoth is so well-written. So. Freaking. Good. Lilliana also has a solid backstory. These two are honestly perfect for each other. They've only known each other for a short time, but their romance is 💯 well developed and believable. I'm very satisfied with the HEA and I'm ecstatic that Azagoth and Lilliana get a full-length novel later in the series 😍

P.S. Idess and Azagoth hugging 🥺😭❤️

P.P.S. Azagoth in beast shape though...still 🔥 I said what I said.

5 stars - it’s Grim Reaper time baby, oh yeah!

I have mad love for the Demonica series and cannot get enough, so of course as soon as I saw that Larissa Ione had written a novella for Azagoth AKA the Grim Reaper, I was all over it! And I absolutely loved it!! Azagoth has made a couple of appearances in the series so far – most notably as the father of Idess – and finally seeing him in all of his sexy, arrogant, powerful, badass glory was absolutely sensational!

As an ex-angel who ‘volunteered’ to become the Grim Reaper and run Sheoul-gra, the holding tank for demon souls on their way to hell, he also has the dubious privilege of being a breeding stud for heaven, who send him angels to impregnate and produce hybrid children known as Memitim –guardian angels for selected humans. After thousands of years of this, he is understandably over it, and demands a mate of his own.

Heaven has just the angel to send to him – Lilliana – a rare time travelling angel who is sent to Azagoth as a form of punishment, but also with a secret mission.

The fireworks between Azagoth and Lilliana are explosive from the start, and OMG, it’s sensational! Resentful at being stuck where she doesn’t want to be, Lilliana is immediately on the defensive and is a fantastic match for Azagoth, and the banter is pure gold!

“I don’t give a shit what crimes you committed in the past. But let’s be clear on one thing; down here, you don’t fuck with me.”

“Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself riding a bolt of lightning if you piss me off.”
“I’m into kinky shit, so that works.”

Yes, Azagoth is one sexy bastard and he has the mouth to prove it.

His smile became downright wicked. “I can make you beg for the mere whisper of my breath on your skin. I can do things with my tongue that will make you scream with the exquisite intensity of it. And I can make you come so hard, for so long, that you’ll pass out from pleasure.”

Oh yeah, these two together are all kinds of hot! The story is told in dual POV so we can see the mad lust between them, but there is also a deeper side to what they are both going through and I loved getting to see that. Both strong and stubborn with lots of attitude, there is a lot of heart in the story and as they start to trust each other, their deep and dark secrets are revealed and they start to impact on each other’s lives in a way neither of them could ever have imagined.

“Don’t let my calm exterior fool you. There’s a beast inside me that’s capable of horrors you can’t imagine.”

I loved being back in this world! Like the rest of the books in the series it was funny, crude, sexy and heartfelt with a bit of action and a fantastic paranormal element. Being a novella, the pacing is really fast and it’s all very much focussed on the romance between Azagoth and Lilliana, but it was enough to make me truly love these characters, and with a few other things going on, the story is truly captivating. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. I can never get enough of this series.

I loved it – 5 stars.

I love Larissa Ione's Demonica series so it was no surprise that I devoured Azagoth and enjoyed every minute of it. In fact I think my only complaint was that I wanted more, not because I was disappointed with the story we were given but because I loved both of the main characters and wanted to spend more time with them.

Azagoth used to be a powerful angel but he gave it all up to become the demon Grim Reaper and create Sheoul-gra, a kind of holding tank for Demon souls after they die. We've come across his character a few times throughout the Demonica series but we never knew a great deal about him and it was really interesting to learn about why he made the choices he did and how much he has suffered because of those decisions. Azagoth has spent centuries alone and he is sick of being used by heaven to boost the ranks of the Memitim. What he really wants is a mate, someone he can build a bond and share his life with. Lilliana is an angel who works in the time travel department but she broke a major rule and is now facing punishment. Raphael gives her two choices, she can either agree to be Azagoth's mate or they will either strip her of all her powers. Neither option really appeals to her but she can't bear the thought of losing her abilities so when Raphael offers her a third choice - steal an artefact from Azagoth's realm - she knows it is the only sane choice. That was before she met Azagoth though and the more time she spends with him the harder her decision becomes.

I absolutely loved Azagoth, in a lot of ways he is such a vulnerable character - he has spent so long alone and hiding his emotions that he doesn't know how to cope when he starts to feel for Lilliana. I loved how patient he was with her and that he was determined to make her fall for him rather than force her into doing something she didn't want. His reactions when Lilliana was able to take him outside of Sheoul-gra were perfect and no matter how much she tried to irritate him he was just so excited to experience something new that she couldn't get under his skin. Lilliana was a great character too, she has a lot of backbone and isn't the kind of woman who just sits back and lets things happen. She isn't stupid either and she knows that Raphael has an agenda of his own so rather than blindly follow his instructions she takes the time to work things out for herself and decide how to proceed. She does make a couple of mistakes but I loved how hard she worked to try and put things right.

Azagoth may be a novella but there was still plenty of character development and I loved the chemistry between the couple. Their romance was scorching hot but also incredibly sweet and I often found myself smiling at the banter between them. If you're a fan of the series then I'm sure you're going to love this story just as much as the others.

RE-READ again in order to refresh my memory to read Azagoth and Lilliana's full-length novel Reaper

Also, I don't get why some reader can confused Reaper with this novella. The description is not that much alike :/

Original review and first re-read review below:

First review:
AZAGOTH give me so many FEELING! Duh, I think I will re-read this again. Who knows that the big baddie, Father of all Memitim, a Grim Reaper nonetheless have a big heart and playful side?

Definitely a re-read worthy story! :D

My complaint is just, I wish this one is not novella :(

Re-read review

What can I said? I'm still in melancholy mode when finishing Revenant yesterday (and end up re-read it again) and today I don't bring my paperback so I decide to re-read Azagoth. Like my first read, this novella still great. I still love Azagoth whose very much alike Revenant, the big bad heroes with a tender heart. Even the part when Lilliana throw a childish tantrum that result in Azagoth agony, I still love read this one! I think Azagoth and Lilliana is suit for each other.

Larissa Ione always know how to write an uber-alpha hero without falling into asshole and jackass category (except for Ares and Shade :P). She will make reader falling in love with her characters, melting when read her heroes and wish for said hero to be their own ;)

This was more like a longer prologue for Azagoth aka The Grim Reaper story aka baby daddy to all Memitims.
Everyone fears Azagoth , we ve met him in previous books, and he s basically the judge jury and executioner to every soul that reaches Sheoul-gra.
He is lonely and he’s sick of playing Heaven’s game anymore, as in making memitims for them, so tells them the next angel they send he’s gonna keep her as his own mate.
Liliana is an angel who can time travel. She got in trouble, so as a punishment that asshat Raphael gives her a choice, either go to Azagoth or get her powers taken. Also she has to steal from him🙄
Azagoth is actually a very big softie, especially when he is in love. I loved him , so thoughtful , loving his children so much , funny in his own way and real sexy😏. Liliana really was a perfect match for him, never took his shit and stood her ground.

This series is addictive!!!!

As I opened up the latest book from this author and started reading that it takes place 30 years after the events of Reaper, I realized that I had some catching up to do. So, I started with Azagoth and oh boy did I love it. Azagoth and Lilliana were great together, I loved her jealous and possessive side. I already started reading Reaper and I can't wait to see their growth as a couple.

Azagoth is story number 10.5 in author Larissa Ione’s Demonica series as well as novella number 6 in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series and one of the books I have been dying for this year. As always, Larissa didn’t disappoint. Azagoth was every bit of the tortured, sexy, bad boy I was looking forward to and Lilliana was his perfect match.

Fallen angel Azagoth is notorious for his dark and powerful ways, running the underworld, sorting souls, and being known otherwise as the Grim Reaper. But he wasn’t always this way. He had been an angel before and had once been on the sunny side, so to speak. After all these years in the darkness and with that darkness slowly seeping into his very bones, he yearns for more. But who in their right mind would come down to this dark and desolate realm to date him…the freaking Grim Reaper? No one. Unless he could work some magic and ask for a heavenly favor. They did owe him, after all. Getting someone to take over this realm wasn’t exactly a job angels had been lining up for and now he would use the sacrifice he made to his advantage by asking for a female he could spend eternity with. He wanted more than the “scratch an itch” kind of relationship. Of course he never expected the beautiful and feisty angel they sent him. Lilliana was like no one he had even encountered. She was strong-willed, smart, beautiful and unafraid of him. And he immediately wants her with a passion that defies logic. Could she learn to love a man like him? In a world like this?

Lilliana knew she was in big trouble with the heavens and when she makes a deal that could get her out of that trouble and possibly save her wings and ability to time travel, she figures how bad could it be? All she had to do was go into the underworld, hang out with the Grim Reaper, Azagoth, and last a few weeks. Easy peasy, right? She knows she is strong enough to endure the darkness but as soon as she gets to his realm, she knows she’s in trouble. She may be able to ignore all the creepy crawlies and the darkness down in the underworld but there’s only so long she will be able to ignore the fierce attraction she feels towards Azagoth. Luckily, his reputation for being a surly bad boy precedes him and he doesn’t disappoint, being miserable and demanding at every turn. Unfortunately, Lilliana soon realizes she likes the banter they have and finds herself craving his company more and more. Would she really want to stay here with him forever? Would he want her to if he ever found out the deal she made to save herself?

They say that love will always find a way, but never before has love had such a hard road to travel. Will Lilliana and Azagoth be able to meet love halfway and complete the journey?

When you read as much as I do, there are a few authors that reading their newest work it feels like coming home. Larissa is one of those authors for me and reading Azagoth was like coming home. Her writing style is stellar and she has an amazing talent with the tortured hero making the reader want to hate him but unable to ever do so. Azagoth was one of those heroes. He is dark and brooding but deep down just wants some version of happiness. And my God, I wanted it for him. Lilliana isn’t going to cower to his demands, which is something he is very much unaccustomed to. It pisses him off all while exciting and intriguing him. Lilliana is just as intrigued and excited with Azagoth when she sees how he has lived his life and how deliciously and darkly sexy he is. He was unlike anyone she had ever met and that would prove to be a big check in the “stay in the underworld forever” column.

Lilliana’s gift of time travel is an exceptional gift and gives Azagoth a sense of joy he hasn’t felt in far too long. Seeing the simple joy on his face when they travel to see a landscape he hasn’t seen in hundreds of years gives a gift right back to Lilliana and before they both realize it…they have stumbled into a relationship neither one had ever dreamed of finding. I really can’t think of an adjective to adequately explain just how beautiful Lilliana and Azagoth are together. You’ll just have to take my word on this…and buy this book. You will NOT be disappointed.

Thank you, Larissa, for being you and for writing such remarkable stories.

4.5 stars.

I want an Azagoth of my own...he is freaking gorgeous!!! And he has such a vulnerable side to him..

I wish it was a full-length novel, though. The book was a bit rushed..and surely Azagoth deserved a more fleshed-out story.

p.s. I have some issues with the cover, too. Why is the title written in such a small print?? This is AZAGOTH, FFS!

This is a fun read about the Grim Reaper and an Angel.

I love the romance and Azagoth and Lillianna are both great characters. They each have wondeful backstories that I won't reveal here but make this novella shine.

It is wonderful to watch Azagoth transform. The worldbuilding is good here.

I felt the angst/confilct in the story could have been resolved without so much drama and Lillianna's grand Romantice Gesture could have been done a differnt way but overall it is a lovely romance that made me go and binge read the rest of the series.

This was a cute story.

But I had several problems with the world building.

First, why is it Thanatos had to make a deal with Hades to get into Azagoth’s realm but angels popped in and out Willy Nilly?

Why couldn’t Azagoth leave? I’m not sure that was fully explained.

In Thanatos book, Azagoth came off as bisexual. Yet, this isn’t at all mentioned in this story.

Why was Lilly’s father a sperm donor if he was mated and had a family. What abilities did he have that were so special another angel unmated couldn’t be her father???

Here’s a big one. Azagoth volunteered for the job of creating this realm by request of the angels. He wasn’t recreated to do the job, just sent to do it. So how did his DNA change? Yes, his powers have evolved, but he is still an angel underneath it all. Thus why would his children with other angels be hybrids??? They would be angels. Maybe the would inherit some of his new abilities, but angels not hybrids. I didn’t get why they were considered hybrids. I got their purpose, but not the rest.

Thus, I was left with far too many questions to fully enjoy the story.

Oh and Azagoth came off far too whiny for my taste.

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....

I'm not sure why I haven't yet reviewed this book. I read it at the beginning of the year and I know that Reaper is coming out soon so thought I'd better get on it.

I really love Azagoth. I feel bad for him because you can tell he's not happy. This is a man who wants to connect with his children and just doesn't understand how. But it's more than that I think he's lonely. For some reason, I feel for him. I get that he isn't a great guy but...

I love Lilliana but in this short story she kinda pissed me off. I don't want to say too much in case you are like me and got behind. Now is the time to get caught up. I think she's a little unfair to Azagoth but maybe in Reaper, we'll or should I say I, will understand better.

Azagoth reminded me why I love Ione's writing so much. I know what's to come is going to be so good!

I only read this book for a challenge, but I was surprisingly happy with it, or should I say with the Grim Reaper, Azagoth, is tired of how heaven is using him and he's alone/lonely, so he demands that he is given a mate, so Heaven sends Lilliana, a time traveler angel. Azagoth is quite snarky and sexy. But Lilliana is a warrior who is given the task of keeping Azagoth in line.

Azagoth is full of humor, he's fair (he has to give final punishment to others), and Lilliana is originally not so kind and a bit mouthy to him, but eventually she turns sweet and sweet on him.

I thought this was a fun book and I think I'll read the series. This is (can be) read as a standalone or as part of a series, book #1 in Demonica Underworld, so I choose not to use it as book 1 in the series.
