Reese
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

4.5 Chase Stars

I was originally going to rate this 3 stars, but upon further reflection decided to go for 4+, because, well, CHASE.

He really was such an engaging and dynamic character and his charismatic way of making shit up?

description

The way he relentlessly and shamelessly went after Reese?

description

I.

Dug.

It.

There were some super fun comical moments...

description

And I really liked the way the way the story ended.

*
*
*

So why not 5 stars, you say?

*
*
*

I just do not love stories with dead exes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - in fact, I just "borrowed" some of the below from another review of mine that has this same element...And since my feelings on it haven't changed, my words don't really need to either.

Plus, shameless...and mostly LAZY.

But anyself-plagiarism, back to my point about dead exes...

It just makes me wanna crawl in a hole.

description

Every. Single. Time.

Why?

Well...

description

When faced with the "Dead Former Lover" phenomenon we are left in that horridly awkward situation in which one party - in this case the Hero - has the ex-girlfriend from hell situation that is hardest for the reader to swallow.

Because, nine times out of ten, the Hero is no longer with said heroine, not because she was a bitch and they broke up, not because she cheated on him, not because she suddenly decided she was a lesbian, and not because they "grew apart."

But because she's fucking DEAD."

Meaning, if she wasn't dead...he would probably still be with her.

Leaving us to experience that oh-so-self-esteem-boosting experience of joining the heroine in feeling like, what?

Oh, yes...

*
*
*

THE CONSOLATION PRIZE

description

Or in other words...

description

Now usually this blow is muted a little by the fact that said wife/girlfriend/lover is, well...dead.

And we don't have to meet her.

Well not so here, homies, not so here.

Because, in this case, not only did we have to hear about her...we had to read flashbacks with her in them.

And read about how sweet her and our H's relationship with her was...And not only that, but in this case she was also a veritable fucking martyr who donated her free time to volunteering at shelters and helping the homeless.

Oh. Joy

description

So, not only do we have what in itself is just a shiteous situation, we now have the added dimension of having our current h being compared to what amounts to a Mother fucking Teresa.

description

Now, I know this is not a problem for some people. And if it's not, GREAT.

Good for you.

But this IS a problem for me and I DON'T love it.

Just like I love dark chocolate and my husband thinks it tastes like melting dirt.

And do I go around trying to shove dark chocolate in his mouth while declaring he just needs to eat it differently?

description

No.

We all have those little peeves that are all our own.

That said, if the dead ex thing isn't an issue for you - wonderful! - you will LOVE this story.

And if, like me, it IS...I still think you will really enjoy this story; because, despite it including one of my pet peeves, I still really enjoyed it - especially Chase.

★★★★ 1/2! Bossman (stand-alone). Hilariously funny & sexy mixture of forbidden, opposite attracts, friends to lover, pretend relationship & new beginnings romance!

“His cock was so swollen it bulged against the material making it difficult to pull down the zipper. It was my turn to lick my lips.”

Bossman (stand-alone) opens up to Reese Annesley on yet another disastrous date calling her friend for a bail-out only to be overheard by a stranger, Chase Parker aka Bossman. What follows is one heck of a peculiar evening she is soon to forget after the stranger invites himself and his date to her table posing as an old puppy love and friend.

There shall be several hilarious encounters before they settle into a new formed relationship with Chase Parker being her new boss, Bossman. Reese has her reason for not wanting a fling and Chase his reasons for not wanting more, details to unfold with story

It is a whirlwind off fun bantering, tons of dirty talking courtesy Chase, smoldering sexual situations (followed by cold showers) and near slip ups before these two finally succumb for a night of explosive sex neither will be able to walk away from...

Eight words to describe Chase Parker aka Bossman: Easy-going, creative, smart, perceptive, patent, determined, private and dirty talker.

Eight words to describe Reese Annesley: Stubborn, forthcoming, fearful, smart, impulsive, nurturing, goofy and independent.

Bossman, told from dual POVs is the perfect mixture of hilarious situations, witty bantering, challenging sexual tension, intense and steamy sex, forbidden romance, unresolved past in a slow brewing romance; a mixture of forbidden, opposite attracts, friends to lover, pretend relationship and new beginnings romance. It ends perfectly, but I’d welcome a glimpse further into their future.

4.5 Stars!!

description

An office romance/friends to lovers story, 'Bossman' was such a fantastic read. After reading “The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football Novel” I was really looking forward to read this one . I enjoyed that one, but I really loved Mrs. Keeland’s newest gem. If you are fallowing my reviews, you already know that I love books that have a little bit of everything and 'Bossman' really had every single one of the elements that makes a book a fantastic read. Refreshing and entertaining, witty and emotional with a very nice dose of steamy scenes and dirty talking, this one was one hell of an enjoyable read.

“You know my theory that handsome men aren’t as good in bed as the non-handsome crowd because they’ve never had to work for it hard enough?”
“Yes. What about it?”
“One look at that man and I can tell you, he’s the exception.”

Reese meets Chase for the first time in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant. She is trying to reach her best friend because she really needs some saving. She needs to ditch her date, a boring man who for several hours never stopped talking about his mother, as soon as possible. Chase overhears not only insulting her, but also offering some dating advice. But the dynamic between is about to change when Chase decides to crash Reese’s date pretending they used to be childhood friends. After that hilarious night, Reese and Chase part ways, but they bump into each other several times, the attraction between them growing with every one of their interaction. Everything starts to change between them when Reese lands a job on Chase’s company.

Chase makes clear from the beginning he wants Reese in his bed, but Reese doesn’t want to screw up her career for a night of “physical gratification”. However, Chase is willing to wait and convince his new employee that they can work together in and out of bed despite the fact that he’s the big boss.

“I’m up for the challenge.”
“What challenge?”
“Waiting it out. Or breaking you down. One or the other.”

I loved this one! 'Bossman' was highly entertaining from the very first chapter and it was for sure one of the best office romance I’ve read in a long time. I really enjoy this author’s writing and storytelling and she did such a great job with this book. The story told mainly from Reese’s POV was fantastically written, fresh and really enjoyable.

Chase won me over from the moment he was introduced. To be honest, he stole the show for me and compared with Reese’s character, his character was developed really well. Charismatic and sexy as f@ck, Chase was my kind of hero, that hero that makes you dream with your eyes open, that makes you forget about all the previous heroes you swore you’ll never forget. He was that good! He was funny, sweet, considerate and such a great dirty talker. Nothing was OTT when it came to his character. He was pure and simply endearing from start to finish and I’m sure many readers will think the same as me.

“What do you say we go back to the hotel for lunch?”
I squinted. “To eat?”
“Pussy, yes.”

Reece was a likeable heroine overall. Her portrayal was pretty great, but I have to say I really wanted to throttle her a little a few times. She was smart and funny, but I would have loved to be a little sassier than she actually was. Personally I think she would have been a better fit for our hero if she was like that. I liked how Reese and Chase’s relationship unfolded. The attraction and chemistry between them were really well done, so obviously the steamy scenes between them were insanely hot.

“Our mouths opened, and tongues frantically collided. He tasted insanely good, and I never wanted to come up for air. I didn’t care if I died of asphyxiation—I’d die deliriously happy.”

I have to mention the fantastic witty banter between these two characters. It was entertaining and so hilarious at times. I had a blast reading these two interactions for the first half of the story. I also enjoyed the honesty and acceptance between them.

Needless to say I enjoyed tremendously this little gem and I couldn’t put it down for one minute. All in all, this was a wonderful office romance, with a swoon-worthy hero, a great heroine, plenty of sweet and sexy times, great banter and some emotional scenes in between.

Fun And Flirty Office Romance

This is my third book by this author, and it's my favorite so far. Vi Keeland is on the way to becoming a "one-click author" for me. I absolutely adored this story! It gets a solid 4 1/2 stars from me.

From their very first interaction, I was hooked on Reese and Chase. They had incredible chemistry, even if their first meeting was adversarial. Then, what started as bitter conflict morphed into a playful banter. Suddenly, instead of fighting each other, it seemed like it was Reese and Chase against the world.

It took a while for them to take their relationship to the next level. However, that worked well for this story. Readers were gifted with lots of hilarious, flirty dialogue and plenty of build-up. I appreciated the time spent developing the characters and their relationship. When things started to progress, I felt entirely vested in the story.

That being said, I was so absorbed in this story that it seemed to fly by. I didn't want to put it down. You know it's a good book when you find yourself contemplating calling in sick to work because you want to read! This was one of those stories for me.

Unlike most of my favorite reads, this book wasn't dark at all. It was everything that usually drives me nuts -- cliché characters, predictable storyline, etc. -- but it worked perfectly in this case. This isn't the type of story that changes your life, it's just pure fun. It's the kind of story that you don't want to put down because it has you laughing uncontrollably and walking around with a huge smile all day.

There was a little angst and sadness, but it was pretty short-lived. While it did seem a bit melodramatic to me, I understood that a little conflict was necessary for the story. Not surprisingly, everything worked out in the end.

Overall, I thought that this was a fantastic story. I loved every minute of this couple's story. It had just the right balance of romance and humor. If you're in the mood for a fun, feel-good romance with a HEA, I highly recommend this one!

5 Date Crasher STARS

description

It’s been a long time since a CEO suit-type hero has done it for me. They tend to be the same old story lines with slight modifications year after year. That has all changed since I've met Chase Parker.

description

The story is refreshing, witty, sexy, emotional, and has renewed my love in a hot BOSS hero!

description

It all starts with Chase Parker crashing our heroine, Reese Annesley’s boring bind date.

”Reese. Is that you?”

What the hell? “Umm…yes.”

“Wow. It’s been a long time.” He patted his chest. “It’s me, Chase.”

description

The banter, the attraction, and those sparks are all off the charts. The plot is exciting and at times heartbreaking. The two go from being strangers to a boss/employee relationship and then onto so very much more together. They find acceptance for their fears and love in one another.

”I do want what I don’t have. That’s part of it. But not in the way you think. Don’t ask me to explain it, but when I’m around you, I’m happy. That’s all I’m after.”

If you are looking for a read that is impossible to put down and has laugh-out-loud moments, sexy steamy original sex scenes, and a swoon-worthy ending look no further!

“I’ll change the policy.”
“From prohibited relationships to screwing in the office strongly recommended?”
He grinned. “Absolutely.”

OMG!! This book was awesome! It was FUN, SEXY, and LIGHT-HEARTED, but well-balanced with angst, swoon, and great banter!!! I was laughing from the first chapter and honestly didn't want to put it down even for a minute. You could just FEEL how much the hero and heroine were drawn to each other and their "forbidden office romance" situation made the tension and longing between them that much stronger. There was also a "story-behind-the-story" that made me heart ACHE for the hero but it made the healing they both found in their new relationship so much more meaningful. If you're looking for a HOT, ADDICTIVE and ROMANTIC book to fall in love with, THIS IS IT!!
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business -- his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business -- and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date. I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked. When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out. But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us -- telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood. My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I'd never see him again. I mean, what were the chances I'd run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again... What were the chances a month later he'd wind up being my new sexy boss?

After the oddest and yet strangely awesome non-first dates ever (if you can even call it a date since it wasn't technically theirs), Reese couldn't forget about the stranger she'd met at the restaurant who she'd pegged at first as a jerk, but who quickly showed himself to be surprisingly fun and charming. Though the chances of running into him again in the city were slim to none, the last thing she expected was that a few short weeks later, he'd not only be her new boss, but he wouldn't let something as pesky or insignificant as "rules" to get in between of his pursuit of her.
Her: Terms? Are we discussing a business deal?
Him: Is spending time in my bed still off limits because I’m your boss?
Her: It is.
Him: Then I want time outside of the bedroom.
Her: I see you at the office all the time.
Him: I want more.
Her: More how?
Him: I think this requires a face-to-face, sit down conversation.
Her: Like a date?
Him: Don’t think of it as a date. Think of it as a business meeting where we negotiate terms that lead to full performance of the contract in the future.
Her: And that full performance would be…
Him: You in my bed of course.

Their dynamic was so much fun -- the way they danced around their affection for each other, unsure of how far they were willing to risk taking things between them within the workplace, but certainly not willing to let each other go. This made for some fantastic banter that kept me smiling for pages on end.
As I went to step in, he wrapped his arm around my waist. “Wouldn’t want you to trip again.”
“Wiseass.”
“I’m your boss now. You can’t call me that.”
I looked at my watch and smiled. “Not on the clock yet, wiseass.”
“Is that how this is going to be?”
“It is.”

“I see nothing but good things happening at work in our future.”
“Is that so?”
“It is. The first night we get back to the office, I’m going to bend you over my desk…”
I swallowed. “That’s probably a no-no in the employee handbook.”
“I’ll have to fix that promptly.”

Despite the undeniable connection and heat between them, she'd had bad luck with relationships in her past -- specifically a damaging office romance -- and she was in no hurry to repeat the mistake again or risk the new career she was building for one night of fun. Before she was willing to put her heart on the line, she needed to know for sure that what they had was more than just a fling.
He watched me intently. “No expectations, no disappointment?”
… I looked down. “I guess.”
He leaned in. Touching my chin, he gently lifted. “Give it a chance. I might be the one who doesn’t disappoint you.”

To be honest, I actually loved that they didn't just jump right into bed -- it made the anticipation and building sexual tension that much more intense... and when they finally did go the distance, it made everything so much MORE.

Contrasted with their fun, sexy new relationship that was slowly building in the present day were heart-breaking glimpses into Chase's tragic past that showed just how much pain he was hiding. Both of them had a lot to heal from, but with each other they'd both found, for the first time, someone who they wanted to try to have a future with.

I loved this book. I devoured it. I couldn't put it down. It was a perfect mix of everything you could ever wish for in a sexy, addictive romance! It'll make you blush, and even break your heart at times, but then made you swoon and laugh out loud again. I highly recommend it as a new favorite of the year!!

Rating: 4.5 stars!! Standalone Adult Romance.

The sun had begun to rise, casting a golden hue across the room as Chase slowly moved in and out of me. It was beautiful and tender, and I felt it in a place I never knew another human being could touch—my soul.

How did I not know that Vi Keeland was such a fantastic author??!!! I have only read STUCK-UP SUIT, but that was a book she co-wrote with Penelope Ward and it was so hard to tell if there was a difference in writing because those two ladies just mesh extremely well together. All I know is that I need to read more of this woman’s books!! I fell madly in love with this book from the very first chapter. The story is just that good!! It’s been quite a while since I’ve met a book boyfriend with ALL the qualities that when combined, equals PERFECTION. Chase Parker was drop dead gorgeous, intelligent, soulful, outstanding in the schmexy department, and most of all this guy had the best and funniest personality. I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud while reading BOSSMAN.

 photo 02bd597f27688bc7341dd840767b1402_zpskky8czuz.jpg

Reese Annesley is on a horrible first date and while waiting on a line to the ladies room, she is trying to reach her bestie who is supposed to call her and give her the excuse she needs to ditch her date. Chase happens to overhear her leaving a message for her friend and calls her out on being shallow and for not giving the poor guy a chance. They exchange a few heated words and when they go back to their tables, Reese can’t help but ogle the rude man because he truly is a mouth-watering sight. He ends up inviting himself and his date over to Reese’s table and concocts the most outrageous story of how they first met back in grade school and it was from that moment that I knew Chase was a serious top of the list book boyfriend contender!! Chase and Reese will bump into each other a few more hilarious times before she eventually lands a job with his company. And then the pursuing begins. Chase promises that he will get Reese in his bed. That it’s only a matter of time, but Reese left her last job for having made the mistake of sleeping with a co-worker who then ended up getting promoted and became her boss. She has no intentions of repeating past mistakes.

The daily flirtatious banter between these two was downright panty melting and at times laugh out loud funny. There’s also some serious undertones to this story as well which stem from traumatic events that occurred in both Chase and Reese’s pasts. But when the past comes back to haunt Chase, he winds up in a downward spiral. Will Reese be enough to bring Chase back from his darkest place? Or will their relationship be over before it ever truly got started?

I am telling you, this book is one you DO NOT want to pass up. I don’t think it’s possible not to fall in swoony love over Chase!! If you haven’t read it yet, make sure you bump this one up your TBRs.

"Don't focus on the what IFS. Focus on what IS."

➦Another fun, flirty and overall enjoyable read from Vi Keeland. Even though I can't promise I will remember what this book is about in, say, a couple of months... but it was a delight to read.

Reese and Chase... Chase and Reese... So this is supposed to be a forbidden office romance. And it is. But it was cute how these two met on multiple occasions before they ended up working together. And all of those occasions were very entertaining, to say the least.

➦Both Reese and Chase have some fears to overcome - will they help each other and finally start LIVING? Want to know what those fears are? Read the damn book :D

""Fear does not stop death. It stops life."

❤Loved Chase, obv. Quite an eloquent storyteller this one... with a very active imagination, might I add. Oh yeah, he has big time problems dealing with the loss of his ex-fiance and has been avoiding relationships since she died.

❤Reese... I have respect for her. I probably wouldn't be able to comfort a guy and talk about his dead ex while in bed together >.< I don't know, it's tough. But Reese, even though she was dealing with her own fears, was able to overcome any insecurities and really be there for Chase.

➦If you are a fan of sexy (oh yeah, this has STEAM!), funny and a bit angsty reads, then this book is for you. Quite a provocative office romance between a boss and his employee. :)

Meet millionaire businessman, Chase Parker aka Bossman and advertising executive, Reese Annesley aka Buttercup!!!

Let me say it again! I loved this book!!!!! Absolutely gorgeous, stunning and beyond FABULOUS!!!

As I am still totally dazzled by Chase....and yes Reese too....and finding it difficult to think coherently enough to write a detailed review.....rather, I am just going to "jot" down some of my thoughts on my Bossman fascination!!!!

I LOVED....I LIKED.....I LOVED......

Chase Parker - yes, cool name and even more cool man!!! This is the kind of man I want to meet. He's smart, sexy, funny, caring, loving........okay...I'll stop right here....but you get the picture, right?
Lord have mercy. The man truly had the full package. And by that, I didn’t mean good looks, charm, and money… No, Chase had a damn full package.

Reese Annesley - just as cool.......just as endearing. In fact, she's the kind of woman I want as a BFF

The relationship - loved how their relationship developed over time instead of the isnta-love kind of thing. The sexual tension and chemistry between the two was really so incredibly written. Totally believable. Never mind the sex between Chase and Reese.........
“Chase…”
He buried his face in my hair from behind, inhaling deeply, then wrapped it around his hand and tugged my head back. “You’re soaked. How long will you stay mad at me for bending you over this desk and fucking you, Buttercup?”

The characters - Well developed including the secondary ones. Very relatable and engaging.

The plot- Fantastic. Told dual first person perspectives (Chase and Reese) using present day and back flashes from past memories with a bit of mystery thrown in. Well-paced. Funny. Heart-warming.

Writing/Dialogue - I love this author's writing.
“You’re right. I do want what I don’t have. That’s part of it. But not in the way you think. Don’t ask me to explain it, but when I’m around you, I’m happy. That’s all I’m after.”
Smooth with good flow making reading so easy and enjoyable.
The dialogue is totally fabulous.
“I saw her first,” the man whined.
“I don’t think so, buddy. I sucked her face in middle school. Take a hike.”

Some of my fav quotes:
“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.”

Don’t focus on the what ifs. Focus on what is.
Let me just say.........don't miss this one!! Bossman will make you smile for days!!!

And hey.............please can I have Chase for myself????

I forgot how good Bossman was...

Again, I'm faced with a conundrum. I gave the read 5 stars and I think I love the audio even more. Where do I go from here? I'm going to have to give it one of those...To Infinity and Beyond... ratings.

Such a great story that left me extremely happy and content in the end. Even when we're facing drama and upset, I knew that my happy buzz was just around the corner.

The Bossman is just so good. Chase is the kind of guy who has his issues but is absolutely bloody perfect because of them. He calls a spade a spade, has a single-minded focus to obtain something he wants and cares for the people who are special in his life. HE IS ALSO HOT!!! Damn HOT!!! Look at that cover HOT!!! I drooled over that cover when I read it and I'm drooling over the cover as I write this review.

The narrators do a fabulous job and I never struggled with their portrayal of the characters. They were Chase and Reese.

If you haven't read or listened to Bossman yet, DO IT!!

**********

I finished with a goofy smile on my face

Well, I have to say romance writers have really stepped up to the plate with book covers lately. I mean look at the cover for Bossman…HUBBA HUBBA!! It’s definitely one of those covers that you have to study really, really close up to appreciate all the goodness. He’s wearing jewellery and it’s distracting…I can’t seem to take my eyes away from it. Now me, I’m fascinated with the visual aspect of body piercing. In reality, I think it would freak me out. They’re always talking in books about tugging on them or sucking on them. Wouldn’t that hurt? How hard is too hard? Could you tug too hard that it would stretch like a gauge? I think I’ll leave the body piercing to others and just enjoy them from afar.

In this case, we have a beautiful representation of our hero Chase Parker. This brings up another question…how the hell would you be able to work effectively if your boss looked like that? I think it would be very hard to concentrate. He’d have to be a jerk to offset his hotness. What about if the boss is hot, funny and seems to want in your pants? Could you maybe overlook jerkish behaviour? Hmmm…I think Reese held out for all of about two seconds. Don’t blame her really.

Reese is on a really bad date and looking for an out. Surprisingly, a fellow diner overhears her dilemma gives her some unwanted advice and tells her to not be such a cow. She cannot believe the nerve of this very, very hot man. What would he know? He hasn’t had to sit there listening to her date talk about his mother all night. She leaves him after telling him to take his advice and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. A little bit later Mr very, very hot man decides to crash her date with his date to make it one big party just so her night wouldn’t end so badly. Reese's night ends on a high but she thinks she’ll never see him again. Fate has something else to say about that, though.

Chase is stoked when he gets the opportunity to see Reese again. She keeps popping up on his radar and when she’s not in front of him, he’s thinking about her. This is very unusual for Chase and he knows that he has to have this woman. Slight problem, though, she’s kind of with another guy (been on two dates with him), and now Chase is her boss…well her boss’s boss to be precise.

Reese really likes her job working under Chase Parker but doesn’t want to be under Chase if it means it will affect her job. She’s passionate about her work and doesn’t want a relationship to jeopardise it. When things finally become too much and they decide to have a relationship, Reese asks Chase to keep it quiet for a while. Reese has a bad history with inter-office relationships and she doesn’t want to repeat her mistakes.

Little by little, we get to know Reese and Chase more. Reese’s survived a very bad experience that happened when she was younger and Chase is recovering from a loss that happened seven years prior. I found it refreshing in Bossman that most of the time Chase and Reese are honest with each other. They don’t purposely misguide, lie or hold back information and try to be honest about their feelings and thoughts. In some cases, it takes a little time for the truth to push through, but mostly they realise that honesty is the best policy. Isn’t that refreshing? An author who doesn’t draw out the drama unnecessarily…ALLELUIA!!

Overall, I really enjoyed Bossman. To start with I wasn’t a huge fan of Reese as she came across as really silly. Considering she was supposed to be this really educated and smart marketing executive she shows no sense at all with the way she acts. Luckily, the stupid pill didn’t last long and we see a much funnier and smarter Reese as we move along. I absolutely loved Chase from the very beginning. He’s cocky, smart and cheeky and I was worried that he was too good for Reese. Luckily, Chase is far from perfect. His history is sad and has had a long-lasting effect on him that left him unable to find true happiness. There is a time towards the end of the story where he hurts Reese but I never once worried that it was the end for these two. Seeing his struggle and knowing that he was choosing to suffer through it alone made me want to reach into the pages and give him a hug. His story hurt to read.

I started Bossman chuckling and I ended Bossman with a goofy grin on my face. Yes, at times in between I was sad, mad, glad and really turned on but it was the type of story where each emotion was needed. To me, it just all fit together perfectly…or maybe they just fit together perfectly. It's just one of those books that get it right. That wonderful mix of love, laughter, sad history and new beginnings. I loved Bossman and enjoyed it so much I added it to my favourites 2016 list. Chase Parker also gets special mention for being an outstanding hero.

Finished Listening to the audio 9/10/17
P.S How did I not realize you could listen on the web and not just an Audible app???

I don't usually read books right when they're released when everyone is freaking out over them, but for Chase I needed to make an exception. I read the excerpt for the book and just knew that Chase Parker was going to be Hot with a capitol H. And I wasn't wrong!

I loved this book and how intriguing it was. I stayed up all night reading because I just couldn't get enough and Chase had me captivated in bed for hours. His relationship with Reese was super sexy, especially when you added in the forbidden aspect. But more than that they brought humor to the pages that made the story very entertaining. It was really cool that this author had so many things in one book, the friends-to-lovers, the forbidden boss, and the hilarious antics of these character. It all came together to create a highly addictive, entertaining book.

Immediately, from the opening lines, Bossman had me hooked!!!!! I could not wipe the silly, infatuated, smile off my face and I had the most intense case of belly flutters. This book screamed, "fun fun fun." And for the most part it was -- fun, sexy, and unbelievably swoony! But it was also something else, something so much more. It was heartfelt and really brought to life some deep feels that left me breathless.

I fell in love with these characters. Chase and Reese have both been through a lot in their lives, yet they were such strong, compelling and relatable characters. I could not get over how bright they shined or just how intoxicated and invested I was in their story.

FANTASTIC. Really!!! Every word. Every scene. Every exchange. It all held so much heart. I couldn't get enough. I did NOT want it to end. And I absolutely LOVED every single moment.

Reese is on a blind date from hell, one she desperately wants to ditch. Frantic, she makes an SOS phone call to her BFF Jules, begging her to put her out of her misery and interrupt the date with a fake emergency. But Jules isn't coming to her aid and Reese's calls are going unanswered.

Overhearing the conversation Reese is having with Jules's voicemail, Chase Parker seems to has a few choice words for our leading lady. But Reese is absolutely not interested in hearing anything he has to say.

To say these two start off on the wrong foot, is an understatement, but the entire exchange is oddly charming. And as the night progresses, Reese is forced to go back to her date. And Chase goes to back to his. But as they spot each other from across the restaurant, they can't seem to keep their eyes off one another. There's a spark. A connection. Long story short, Chase ends up at Reese's table and one of the most enchanting scenes I've ever read takes place.

These two have a dynamic chemistry. It literally gave me goosebumps. From the moment they exchange their first words, I could feel the rumblings of passion, see the potential in how hot and heavy they could be.

The dialogue is terrific. From funny, to swoony, to sweet, to sassy, to heartbreaking, it flows seamlessly. Vi's writing was better than I remembered. In fact, Bossman was sexier, more well rounded, crisp, clean, and held a depth and intensity that none of the other books *I've* read from Vi Keeland have had. Each chapter was strong, and built on the one before it, developing into a heartfelt romance that I could not put down.

Overall, this Standalone novel had everything I want in a book -- slightly forbidden feels, angst, passion, heat, and heart. So much heart. I loved it and I can barely wait for everyone to meet Chase Parker. He is going to blow you away!!

This book is a win. One you definitely need to add to your TBR! I highly recommend it.

“Don’t focus on the what ifs. Focus on what is.”

Wow! This book was amazing. I loved, loved, loved it! It’s no surprise to me that I adored this book so much considering Vi Keeland is one of my all-time favourite authors. Her books are always fun, sexy and easy going with a hint of emotional undertones. I was so excited to find Vi was releasing another book and when I saw the cover I was sold. I am completely attracted to men with piercings and the cover showcased the epitome of everything I love. I am yet to read a book either written or co-written by Vi that I didn’t love. This was such a highly anticipated read for me and I am so glad it did not disappoint.

“What do women want?”
“Power, adventure and orgasms.”

“Bossman” starts with Reese on a blind date which isn’t going so well. She makes an excuse to go to the bathroom as a way of escaping. While she’s gone she calls her best friend in order to get her to call with an “emergency,” so Reese can ditch her date. Her best-friend, however doesn’t answer the phone, so Reese leaves a voicemail message detailing all the horrible events of her date. While she is busy telling her friend all about this date from hell, she is unaware there is a hot stranger listening in. The hot stranger gives Reese a hard time in relation to her date and then leaves her speechless. When she returns to her boring date, she attempts to search for this hot mystery man who has returned to his date and then when they lock eyes, he takes it upon himself to invite himself and his date to join Reese.

“Do you feel what you do to me? What you’ve done to me since that first night.”

The hot mystery stranger is non-other than Chase Parker. After the initial meeting they bump into each other a couple more times randomly and Chase offers to help Reese to find a job. That’s how Chase becomes “bossman.” After previous bad experiences with office romances before, Reese has sworn off ever becoming involved with someone from the workplace again, especially not the boss. Chase is very persistent and cocky in his attempts to woo Reese.

description

The attraction and chemistry between Chase and Reese was undeniable. The sexual tension just jumped off the pages. I loved how this was a slow burn romance and the fact that Reese didn’t automatically jump straight into bed with Chase. It added to the electrifying angst and anticipation of the story. The writing and character development was perfect and I fell in love with these two characters almost instantly. I loved the constant banter between them, it was absolutely hilarious.

“I want more with you. I can’t promise you what that is or where it will go, but it’s more than just physical. I’m attracted to everything about you – you’re smart, honest, funny, brave, a little nutty – and you make me smile for no reason. There’s no denying I want you in my bed. I think you’ve caught on to that part by now. But I want this, too. I’m tired of looking back. It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to live in the moment.”

I would most definitely recommend this story to anyone who loves their forbidden office romances, which is full of angst, sexual tension, hot, steamy scenes and laugh out loud moments. Even though this was a fun, sexy and light-hearted read, it was still emotional and had the ability to make me feel everything, thanks to the stunning writing which was both poignant and moving. This story is about, love, loss and the ability to move forward after suffering immense tragedy. If you’re looking for a heart-warming, beautifully written story then you should most definitely give this one a go.

"I couldn't remember ever wanting another man as badly as I wanted Chase. For a while, I'd thought it was because he was my boss-- that exciting feeling of being tempted by the forbidden. But I knew it was more than that. So much more, it scared the hell out of me. "

4.5 Stars!

Chase Parker is so delicious. I mean, Bossman. The story. :p

It's my second time to read a Vi Keeland book and I must say this was better than the first book I've read which was The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football Novel. I needed a fun, flirty, and light NA read and reading some glowing 5-star reviews from my friends, I was totally sold and I considered it as an immediate read. It didn't fail. The book was what I was really looking for.

Bossman started off when Reese Annesley had an encounter with Chase Parker at a restaurant where she's meeting her date, Martin. Chase overheard her sending a voicemail to her friend, complaining about her boring date. A few minutes later, she was shocked when Chase joined her table and basically crashed her date by making up stories about their "childhood". Lol. Now few weeks later, they met again and she eventually learned that Chase is in fact, an owner of a wax company where's she's about to start her new work.

What made me love this book? It was for the sole reason that I enjoyed everything that happened here. Chase was so adorable and sexy and his made-up stories just cracked me up. Reese, on the other hand, was a likeable heroine. Despite her issues about her past, she didn't have annoying dramas which made it easy for me to like her. I loved that the majority of this book focused more on the flirty side rather than the emotional one. I've been reading sad books lately and I can't take another heartbreak for now. So this was indeed a book where you can expect yourself to be laughing out loud because of the humor and the sexy interactions shared by the characters.

There was of course, a huge thing that happened in the later part of this book. Some sort of twist that kind of deviated the story into a heart-breaking one. But it was a good thing since it gave the story a depth and it made me appreciate the characters more because of how they handled the situation and managed to overcome it. I was also able to see the broken, different side of Chase, although it shattered my heart into pieces.

The best part of the book was the ending. I loved it! It left a smile on my face and it simply made me happy. As a whole, this book was fun and enjoyable, with oozing sexiness all over the place. Chase is such a perfect Bossman! I highly recommend this book if you love smexy office romance and friends-to-lovers tropes with a tiny bit of drama.

"You're fired," he groaned as he buried his face in my hair. "So fucking fired."

“So we’re good? I apologize, you accept? You’re going to kick ass in the interview and get hired, then I’m going to try to get in your pants, and you’re not going to let me.”

That about sums it up.

I realize my opinion may be an unpopular one...

...but I didn’t love Bossman. I certainly liked it. At times I was even mildly amused by it. I just didn’t feel that yummy zing I was expecting while I was reading it.

Chase won me over almost immediately with his witty Josh Duhamelness (yep, I'm making that a word now!) but I never really connected with Reese for some reason. Her constant pushing Chase away when she so obviously wanted him got real old, real quick.

“I swear, if he pushed me up against the door of my office, I’d have no willpower. Him being the boss is why I’m keeping away from him, yet his bossiness totally does it for me.”

Overall, I enjoyed Bossman, I just didn’t flat out love it. Vi Keeland remains one of my go to authors for fun reads and I’m already looking forward whatever she serves up next.

Audiobook review. Alright, ladies and gents. I get why people love this book so much. Chase is sexy as sin and with a fantastic sense of humor. His first meeting Reese is about as epic as it can get. I really liked the guy. Reese is trying to figure her life out and though she takes some time to do so, I liked her approach and how she wanted to learn from past mistakes. These two are ridiculously sexy. The sexual tension and build up was executed flawlessly. Where this fell short for me personally was in Chase's ties to the past. I really didn't think he was still hung up on the past at first because although we were getting the "7 years before" scenes, they felt removed from who he was in the present. He says and does all the right things and then some in the beginning. What happens towards the end really colors the story for me. Then afterwards, the reconciliation feels glossed over. I don't feel satisfied that all the issues were addressed. I was also expecting to hear more about the secret Reese kept from Chase but that's left open ended as well. This is not a case of me disliking the book, it's more about me finding it left some great opportunities out there unfulfilled. Audio version had great narration. Safety: MCs meet while on dates with other people. h continues to see OM for a little while but stops before starting with the H. No rape/abuse.

5+ 'Made-up Stories' Stars!
 photo Bossman - Vi Keeland_zpsao11k92f.png

I loved this. I loved every word in this book. I have to say, I put Bossman on my TBR list because, first: THAT COVER. Yes, not sorry to say that at all.. The man is sex on legs! Second, I enjoyed quite a lot of books by this author. Still, I was extremely cautious about it because my last read by hers was The Baller and it left me with bittersweet feelings. But, luckily, this was not the case. Bossman is, simply, perfect!

Bossman is a stand-alone novel written by Vi Keeland and it tells the story of Reese Annesley a.k.a Buttercup (a woman who we meet in a disastrous date and everything changes when a hot stranger decides to introduce himself as a friend and ex-lover of hers) and Chase Parker a.k.a Bossman (said cocky difficult-to-forget stranger who will also surprise the heroine when he becomes her new boss).

“I’m attracted to you. Really attracted to you. Have been since the first time I saw you. Tried to be respectful, considering you were seeing someone. Done doing that. If you work here, I’m going to try to get you into my bed.”

“I saw her first,” the man whined.
“I don’t think so, buddy. I sucked her face in middle school. Take a hike.”

Can I repeat it again? I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. It has a little bit of everything that I enjoy: great and well-developed characters, a good plot, an emotional and sexy love story and lots of different kind of moments. Bossman is funny, off-the-charts hot and heartwarming. Vi Keeland has written an outstanding stand-alone novel that will leave you wanting more!

“Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find it.”

“You’re right. I do want what I don’t have. That’s part of it. But not in the way you think. Don’t ask me to explain it, but when I’m around you, I’m happy. That’s all I’m after.”

Let's talk about what I loved the most about this novel, although I am pretty sure you already know it. The Bossman himself. Mr Chase Parker, you are one sexy beast! I am crazy about love stories full of sexual tension, well-developed sexual tension. The chemistry between Chase and Reese is smoking from their very first meeting and when Chase's dirty mouth and sex get involved.. you have nothing to stop you from falling in love with Bossman!

Lord have mercy. The man truly had the full package. And by that, I didn’t mean good looks, charm, and money… No, Chase had a damn full package.

“Chase…”
He buried his face in my hair from behind, inhaling deeply, then wrapped it around his hand and tugged my head back. “You’re soaked. How long will you stay mad at me for bending you over this desk and fucking you, Buttercup?”

Damn, the sex in this book.. So freaking HOT! Also, and involving Chase, there is a little bit of suspense his past and that made me love him and this story even more! Reese is a strong woman and Chase is a cautious and mysterious man but still he is not afraid to go and claim what he considers his. I really loved how the love story is developed, all the interactions between all the characters and the feelings they provoked in me; there is time for everything: to laugh and to cry too.

Don’t focus on the what ifs. Focus on what is.

“You have my heart. Promise me you’ll keep it safe.”
“Only if you promise never to give mine back.”

Therefore, my rating for Bossman is a very much deserved 6 STARS because there wasn't a single thing I did not love about this book. You cannot go wrong with this: a great love story, with characters that will steal your heart and give you all kinds of feels. I really want a Chase Parker for myself, not kidding! So, if you are a fan of Vi's writing or simply want to enjoy a story that will not leave no one indifferent, check Bossman out. I highly recommend!

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Reese Annesley was on a boring date when a sexy, cocky stranger swoop in and saved the night. Since then he had been invading her mind (and fantasy) but never thought further about it until he ended up being her new boss.

Chase Parker was a self made man. His intelligence and good looks could make any woman drop their panties. Unfortunately for him, the panties he wanted the most was trying to run from him as far as possible.

Let me be honest here. I would read this book because of the sexy cover alone lol! Lucky for me, the story succeeded in backing it up.

He was someone I couldn’t put my finger on… he didn’t seem to fit into any one box.

Chase was definitely a lovable asshole. He was cocky but never over the top. I love seeing his persistence in doing what he believed in. But behind that charming confident persona, he had vulnerability from the past that still ruled his present.

I was the balance to his unsteadiness. He was the courage to my fear.

Reese was a relatable character. As a subordinate she had personal reason and professional reputation to protect. She also had her own past to deal with.

Chase oozed sexuality and he had good chemistry with Reese. I love the push and pull between them and his "story telling" ability was highly amusing.

“This ass. I can’t wait to take it. But not here. I won’t be able to keep you quiet when you have my cock in your ass and my fingers in your pussy at the same time.”

The sexy times were hot, but I do wish more of it considering the amount of sexual tension before it finally happened.

Bossman is a light, funny office romance story with sexy banters that would make you wish you have a boss like Chase. If that's the case, everyone would love Mondays haha!

To all my fellow book lovers who loved Bossman and are about to read this review:

 photo giphy_zpsckegaqkh.gif

But I'm quite confused as to how this book has such high ratings.
Was it horrible? No. I liked it. Sort of. Okay - Not really.
Was the writing outstanding and the story original? Sorry, but no.
Was any of it remarkable in any way? THAT'S A BIG FAT NO.

I was amused by it at times, sure. It gave me some chuckles. But to call this anything other than mediocre is really a far stretch.

I've seen the characters described as engaging and sexy. I'd have to call them flat and uninspired. And I think that was my biggest issue here. The heroine especially lacked any semblance of a personality and Chase - who seems to be loved by so many - was like a mash up of every type of romance cliché out there. Some parts of the plot were quite random and unrealistic and I felt a lot of the issues in here were blown out of proportion.

While there wasn't anything glaringly wrong with this, it wasn't compelling and it was just ...plain. Plain and boring and recycled. If someone is going to take a used story line, something in it better knock my socks off. My socks were NOT knocked off.

Maybe if I read this a while back I would have loved it? Maybe because I've recently read a few contemporary reads that were phenomenal and this just paled in comparison? Not quite sure. But I do know this author doesn't seem to be for me.

I know so many people have loved this book, but I just didn't see the appeal.

4.5 When Everything Just Works Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free - YOU BE THE BOSS- Only 99Cents!!!!
Kudos to Vi Keeland for putting together a smart, witty, sexy and most importantly, thoughtful book with BossMan. There were so many ways this story could have gone off track...yet with the careful crafting and humor, it stayed focused on the importance of that indescribable connection to the one person you feel free enough to love completely.

Chase Parker has experienced the good and horrific in his young life. He has risen to the top of his field as a self-made man. His creativity and ingenuity in finding a need and filling it brought him to inventing a wax with a pain duller mixed in...It at first was for the fella sports guys who had to wax for the events they were in...and then Chase was requested to wax all the women on campus, too...
This led to his continued development of different products for women making him very, very rich. It also didn't hurt that he was very, very handsome, as well.

Chase's life was golden... his business was growing and he was in love with a beautiful actress, model, and self-proclaimed good doer. Peyton gave of herself and volunteered at a food bank/homeless center. She had a way about her which others accepted... and it was her gift to be bright, positive and always there for those who needed her...It was not pretend for her...all of her efforts were real and authentic.

It was the result of this sincere caring which put her in harm's way and devastated Chase. When he lost her, he shut down. It took years for him to work through all of the pain and somehow he has been coming out the other end...being more in the moment.

It is on a "date" with another woman who primarily is only interested in Chase as a possible "Catch", when he overhears Reese leaving a message to her friend to "Please, please save her from the worst date in the world." Chase happens to say how bogus the "Emergency Phone Call" is and her date will see right through it...he also throws in the fact the restaurant is hard to get reservations and her actions are actually rude.

Reese looks at this man and is fuming... who does he think he is... and even though he is gorgeous and all that and a bag of chips...he really should just shut it... they both snap retorts and Reese goes back to her boring date... and Chase to his "Sure Thing" for the evening. As each dinner progresses... both keep sneaking looks at each other. Reese is bored to tears with her date but jumpy about the encounter from the hall. As she tries to collect herself for the ending of dinner, she sees a movement from the man's table...

Wait... What is he doing...No...He is not coming towards her table...Sh#t, he is and plunks himself and his date down as if she knows him...What...OMFG... this man....he is now telling stories about how we know each other...

Reese is stunned... because as fast as she sets him up with a zinger... he bounces back with another story to match. It doesn't last too long and they are all outside getting ready to enter cabs... Chase takes Reese in his arms and gives her hair this tug, a deep look with enough heat to pool Reese's panties... and then kisses her on the forehead. OMFG.

So Reese is at this crossroads. She is fantastic in Marketing and was hoping to continue to grow with the company she was with...until a couple of things happened which made her give notice without another position lined up...

First, she broke the cardinal rule in business...
Never do the nasty at a Christmas Party with someone one you work with and who just happens to be the owner's son....No matter how drunk you may be...
Chances are he is an A-hole of the highest degree...
And he was...
Which leads to Daddy appointing him to the top position in marketing and now is your boss...
Oh, and did I mention he was getting married and still told Reese he would do her on the side if she wanted...
Yeah...not too cool...

So for her mental health, Reese was looking for a new position, sending out resumes and meeting headhunters. She was also thinking about Chase... whether she wanted to or not...And Chase hasn't forgotten that feisty woman either...

Which then leads them to cross paths again....with new stories of their connection told to another dating partner Reese is with...More conversation and Chase gives Reese the name of his headhunter to help her find a position.

Ok, so we figured out from the title and blurb as to what happens... But, oh the tightrope these two walk on...The chemistry, banter and sweet gooey center of the play is fantastic... If she wasn't attracted to him...and want him as much as he wants her...

It could be a Sexual Harassment nightmare...
Any of the actions, comments, etc. heard by others would also make it a Harassment/Hostile Work Environment in the real world, slam dunk...

But also let's not forget... this is a Romance Book...

There is also another element to tell of this story... these two have both experienced things no one should.... and their lives and behavior reflect it ... for good and for bad...It is the slow reveal and sharing between the two of them which is so heartfelt and stirring. Things happen in life which we may think we have had control or caused...but really unless we did the deed which is causing the guilt and pain...It is critical to let it go and move forward. We cannot control the actions of others...

This read had so much going for it... a man to make your own...(Chase I will send you my info...) and a woman who once she realized what was important, made the life she wanted.

Vi Keeland knows how to write snappy dialogue and sexy times...she also brings home the life lessons, too... just wrapped around a delicious story with yummy characters.

Delightfully fun, addictingly sexy. Bossman is a perfect blend of wit, humor and sultriness all wrapped up in a dirty office romance that will touch your heart and make it swoon.

One could say Reese Annelsey hasn’t had the best of luck lately. She needs to find a job ASAP and is in a dating rut. Her current date being so bad she’s hoping a fake friend emergency will get her out of it. But the obnoxious, gorgeous stranger who just a few minutes ago called her on the uninspired excuse in the hallway has now crashed her date with his own and is spinning fake stories about being old school friends with her, non-existing embarrassing first kisses and even endearments? Buttercup, really?

As the night winds down though, Reese finds that she’s been enjoying her double date with the meddling, sexy, professional liar Chase Parker and doesn’t want it to end because the chances of every seeing the man again are slim to none. And the chances of him becoming her boss, completely nil right?

I haven’t read a lot of Vi Keeland’s books, but what I’ve read so far makes me want to automatically one-click everything she produces, especially with those covers! And what’s inside is equally good, if not better. I was completely hooked with this story right from the start. Can you imagine that entire date scene? It had me laughing aloud and unable to put the book down.
"I find I'm more creative in the evening. Sometimes after I've climbed into bed and shut off the lights, an idea will come to me for something I was trying all day to focus on."
"I'm very creative when I shut off the lights and slip into bed, too. Maybe we should try that together sometime? Probably produce some amazing results-twice as creative and all."

Reese’s luck certainly improved as she bumped into Chase again while on another semi-date, this time though they exchange phone numbers while Reese tells him about her job hunt and in an effort to help her out, Chase inadvertently sets her up to fill a vacancy at this company where he doesn’t want to hire her at first because he’s clearly attracted to her and wants to date her himself. But she wants the job too much so she won’t let him cross inappropriate lines… or at least she’ll try.
"So we're good? I apologize, you accept? You're going to kick ass in the interview and get hired, then I'm going to try to get in your pants, and you're not going to let me."

Chase is one of those heroes you just love from the start. He exudes confidence and sex appeal, he’s smart and charming and behind this wonderful package there’s a man who’s suffered deeply, which makes him even more real and likeable. Reese’s Peanut “buttercup” is equally delightful matching Chase quip for quip and is strong and funny. A perfect match.
“I was the balance to his unsteadiness. He was the courage to my fear.”

Even though the cover screamed “fun, sexy times,” I don’t think I was prepared for how much I liked everything about it. Every stage of their relationship was equally enjoyable, from their humorous meet cute, the sassy, sexy chase, to the hot dirty conquest and the heartfelt realization that they were completely meant for each other. I was completely invested in them and didn’t want it to end.
“You’re fired,” he groaned as he buried his face in my hair. “So f*cking fired”

Bossman is a standalone contemporary romance by Vi Keeland. It is a fast paced, funny, sweet, sexy and touching story that’s sure to please any romance lover. Told from both points of view that has a happy ending.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*More Should've Happened*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Re-read: 06.07.2020
This was a cute re-read. I liked the characters, and I liked the sex scenes. I just wanted more out of the story. There was little that happened, even though the book did have depth to it. I wanted to see the main character connect with other character, to become a big, crazy, and happy family, instead of just mainly focusing on the two character's romance development. Even if said development was awesome and funny. Strangely, I do wish it was slow-burn than it was though. Overall, I like the book, I do. I don't regret re-reading it. But the first 40% of the book is the best of it. The rest is a bit predictable and meh to a degree. I needed it to grip my heart, and it simply didn't reach that level.

The Characters:
The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

“Are you…able to move on?”
He’d told me he wanted to try. But trying and actually putting the past behind you were two very different things. I should know.
“To be honest, the last seven years, I had no idea I wasn’t moving on. Thought what I was doing was moving on.”
“You mean sleeping with women?”
He shook his head. “Yeah. I was standing in place a long time. Not letting go.”
“But you think you’re ready to move on now?”
“I think it took me this long to realize what moving on meant. It doesn’t mean forgetting what you’ve left behind. It means making her a memory and deciding to have a future without her in it.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/F)
Series: - Standalone.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Chase ‘Bossman’ Parker.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Sure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Sure.
Will I read this again in the future? - Most likely not.
New Rating - (-)3.5/3 stars.

First read review:
I liked it. It was sweet and funny, easy and adorable. I didn't love it, but I really liked it. It was too long, and not much happened, but still, a good nice story with funny, witty characters and a kickass romance.
Rate: 3.5/4 stars.

Reese Annesley was afraid to get in a seriously relationship; she just never got lucky enough to find the right partner. So she decides to go on a date spree lol. While on a date which was truly boring she encounters this strange; he was hot and funny who saves her from that boring date. Little did Reese knows that fate will put him in her path soon enough where he eventually ends up becoming her Boss.

Chase Parker; lost the love of his life seven year prior to meeting Reese. He thought that eventually he had moved on but apparently he hadn't. He found just random sex nights was helping but in all honestly it wasn't. Chase never thought that he would feel whole again until he meets Reese. At first her looks and chemistry is all he saw he just wanted to get her out of his system by sleeping with her.

Chase didn't realize that Reese was not an easy target. She likes the chase and CHASE too haha but she was not going to let him in so easily. Her prior mistakes left her thinking twice about sleeping with the Bossman. At first I honestly was getting irritated by her not giving in because it was obvious that she liked him and it was defiantly a mutual thing. However later down I realized she was smart protecting her heart when Chase ends up doing exactly what she was afraid of "breaking her heart". Chase didn't do it intentionally of course, he had his reasons which I completely understood, didn't mean I loved what he did but I understood him enough to forgive him and let him back in haha.

Chase Parker. You are quite literally one of the most perfect male characters I have ever read. If he was real I would be stalking him to be my bestie. He is hilarious and from the beginning I knew he would be the fantastic. Who doesn’t love a bit of an asshole in their men??

Chase and Reese meet one night at restaurant. She is standing out side the bathroom leaving a message for her friend, begging her to call and rescue her from a horrible date. Chase is on his phone and completely calls her out on her behavior. It may come off rude, but really it’s just his way in. Once they both go back to their table Chase creates an elaborate scheme to get to know her.

This is when I was like, heck ya, Chase is awesome, sign me up! He is hilarious and fun and completely flirty. I loved reading his dialogue and seeing their interactions. When Reese is hired to work at Chase’s company it’s game on for him. Reese wants no part in a employer/employee relationship, but that isn’t stopping Chase from going full steam ahead. Reese is the perfect girl to put him in his place. He may be God’s gift to women, but she is holding her own when it comes to his advances.

The slow build, the flirtatious and these two getting to know each other set the story up perfectly. I was seriously laughing out loud and had a huge smile on my face. I loved seeing their relationship progress. Their accidental run ins to the moment they kissed for the first time, I loved watching laughing at their banter. Then Keeland brings the feels with an unexpected twist and my heart just hurt for these two.

I was expecting fun, flirty and of course hot - I mean look at the freaking cover. I wasn’t expecting such strong feels or even a message that made me think about my own choices, but it was there. This book was a five star out the gate, Chase-freaking-Parker is five star worthy alone! I love funny books. If you can make me laugh out loud for real, you have made this reader super freaking happy. Keeland had me at funny, but stole the show with the feels!

Don't focus on the what ifs. Focus on the what is."

Should you be thankful when a handsome guy who calls you rude for wanting to ditch your boring date crashes said date and makes it infinitely more entertaining? What if a month later, you bump into the same guy again and again? Yes? Because that's what exactly happens to Reese Annesley.

Reese is sending her best friend a voice mail to bail her out of a date when Chase Parker overhears her and calls her rude for wanting to bail on said date. When Reese gets back to her table (and a date who can't seem to talking about anything other than his mom), she spots the handsome man sitting next to a bombshell. Typical. Soon, however, she realizes there's nothing typical about Chase when he suddenly invites himself, along with his bombshell date, to Reese and Oedipus's table. He then pretends to know her from way back, and tells intricate (and embarrassing) stories about their past.

After the date that went from boring to entertaining, Reese never expected to ever bump into her faux middle school ex again, but alas, fate had other plans. Not only did she see Chase again, he eventually became her boss. It's a small world after all!

I really liked this book. I kept expecting the story to go the way I imagined it would, but it kept pleasantly surprising me. There's a bit of angst in there, but most of the story is fairly light.

Chase Parker is a dream boat. I'd like to wrap him up and keep him with me forever. He's another book boyfriend I've fallen in love with. He's handsome, smart, funny, honest, and nice!!! Right about now, I'm slamming my palm on a table because FEELS! I like this kind of alpha. I really do.

Usually I don't like it when book boyfriends go caveman and "stake the claim", but gah whenever Chase did it—and the way he did it—I couldn't do anything but eat it up! I'm pretty sure I looked a little nutty in the cafe when I was sitting there in the company of my coffee and Kindle.

He obviously wants to sleep with Reese, and he makes jokes about it, but he never truly pushes. And there was this one incident that would have given him the perfect pass (some jerks would have taken full advantage of it), but he was 100% the gentleman. I think I fell a little in love with him because of it.

And I love Reese. She is adorable and not annoying at all! She's a headstrong woman, and she makes sure she's treated the way she deserves to be treated. I love that about her. She's headstrong but not obstinate. Kind but not a doormat. Beautiful inside and out.

The two have been carrying their own burdens, but they didn't let it overpower them. It still haunted them, but they did their best to go about their lives. I really liked that.

Being afraid is when you let fear control your life, let it stop you from doing what you want. When you’re afraid, but you look your fear in the eye and live, that’s courageous."

I also liked that no one cheated. Yes, Chase flirted with Reese when she was still seeing Bryant, but he never crossed the line. And yes, Reese fantasized about Chase, but she never acted on it.

Their banter! It made me giggle and smile and ahhh. Chase was such a smartass, but so was Reese. It was great to see two people on equal footing banter the way they did.

And the progression of their feelings! Gah How swoon-worthy! From the very start, Chase made it clear that he's physically attracted to Reese. But when the attraction went beyond physical, I may have swooned a little. I loved how gradual the development was.

When I'm around you, I'm happy. That's all I'm after."

My heart ached for Chase when he found out the truth about Peyton, but it took him a while to get back on his feet. I was happy (well not really. Relieved maybe?) when Reese stood her ground and refused to let anyone treat her less than she deserved.

I didn't particularly enjoy the stalking bit. It was sweet, I guess, but it bordered on creeper alert, so I don't know. It wasn't my favorite part of the book, but it didn't turn me off from still loving Bossman.

The epilogue just about killed me though. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. I love Chase Parker. I love him so damn much. He is an amazing, adorable, endearing man.

that cover resembles more to a magazine cover instead of an office romance story.

I was looking for a quick and fun romance read when I had started reading this. While it started really good with the guy coming to the rescue of damsel in distress aka our heroine, but it soon turned out that things are not as smooth as I wanted them to be. It could have easily been a good romance for me, had it not been for Chase Parker's reluctant to let past go. He was clinging to it desperately, thus destroying his present and future with Reese.

I was thinking of reading Ms Keeland back to back but now I will wait a few month to touch her other works.
