The latest standalone novel from bestselling author Katy Evans.

When the wedding of your dreams is just around the corner, everything needs to go as planned. Only problem is, the groom didn’t get the memo.

Aaron forgot the rings, and Lia is determined to make the long drive home to get them in time for their “I do’s.”

But there’s a catch. There always is with Aaron, isn’t there?

Aaron is too hungover to come, and sends a replacement.

The best man.

Miles Foster. The cocky, arrogant, sexy best man…and the last person Lia wants to be trapped in a car with for hours.

But Aaron insists, and Lia wonders if there’s another reason Aaron wants Miles tagging along—aside from sticking her with a hot, surly babysitter.

Yet how bad can it be? It’ll be over before she knows it, and she’ll never see him again. Just like in college.

But when secrets are revealed, and Lia’s whole world is turned upside down, she realizes she’s been living a lie—and so has her groom.

Miles is supposed to be the best man at her wedding.

But what if he is simply the best man she has ever known? The best man for her?

He slides his nose down mine. My breath is his breath. My want is his want. My heart is his own.

”BEST MAN” is a short and steamy second-chance/forbidden romance between a bride to be and her fiance’s best friend. Lia Ripley comes off as your typical annoying bridezilla. Not a heroine to be easily liked but as the story unfolds, we learn that she hasn't been living a fairytale life. Her prince charming has never been careful with her heart and during a 12-hour road trip the day before her nuptials, with the best man, Miles Foster, Lia will find herself questioning whether she is about to make the biggest mistake of her life. She and Miles shared one unforgettably passionate night during a frat party but things quickly fizzled the next day. They’ve shared an almost antagonistic relationship ever since, but Lia is about to get her mind blown with some truly shocking revelations. When the truth is no longer easy to deny, will Lia continue to keep living a lie or will she take a chance on true love?

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5

Meet Dahlia. She is a young woman about to get married. She pictures and plans her wedding to be perfection. She is marrying Aaron, her boyfriend of 5 years. Dahlia is shallow, immature, demanding and selfish woman. She also have no back bone. She suspects her boyfriend cheating but she turns her eyes away and insisting on marrying him.

Then meet Miles. He is Dahlia's ONS way back in college year. Due to lack of communication, they separated and Dahlia ends up with Aaron. Some twist of fate happens and Dahlia ends up with Miles on the eve of her wedding day. Romance ensues and second chance romance happens. The story development is good. I like how Miss Evan build many layers of the character development and chemistry.

The only problem with me is Dahlia. She is too much. She even bordering to bitchy. Her character is the reason I deduct 1 star.

Dahlia Ripley “Lia” is a 23 yr. old engaged woman living in Boulder, Colorado. She’s planned her dream wedding, and has waited her whole life for this perfect, special day. She’s about to get married at the Midnight Lodge underneath the Rocky Mountains. Her fairytale fantasy is about to come true. Then she learns her fiancé Aaron forgot the rings. She decides she can make it home and back in time, so she’s off on a last minute road trip. Everything is manageable until she learns her groom is sending the best man Miles to travel along with her.

Miles Foster is unbelievably hot, until he opens his mouth. He has a superior attitude, and is always acting like he’s better than everyone else. The cocky, gorgeous jerk is the last person Lia wants to be stuck in a car with for hours. Ever since they shared a moment back in college he knows just how to get under her skin. They clash at every turn, but she soon realizes she may never have fully been able to get him out of her system.

Snowbound and in close quarters, secrets are revealed, and Lia realizes she may be living a lie. She thought Aaron was her soulmate, but now she’s second guessing everything. Is she just having cold feet, or is it something more. Nothing is going as planned, and she can’t quit thinking about the groom’s best friend. Which man will be her happily ever after?

Best Man by Katy Evans is a fantastic standalone enemies to lovers romance that is sexy and full of angst, chemistry and love. I really enjoyed this story, and always love Katy’s writing!

We're at a fancy resort in Colorado. Lia is getting married to Aaron tomorrow.

But after a very long and drunken bachelor night, the idiot groom suddenly remembers that he forgot the rings back home. Lia decides to leave the guests to their spa day to drive the five hours to Denver. Aaron sends his best friend Miles along.

Lia can't stand Miles - and vice versa.

There was this one drunken night five years ago ...

Plus also ... it's supposed to start snowing any time now!

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!!!!

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO LIA & MILES?
WiLL WE GET A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FiND OUT ☺☺☺

THAT WAS ADORABLE!

I really enjoyed reading this.

We immediately realize that Aaron is so not the right guy for Lia. We want Miles!
But they hate each other ... right??

The drive to Denver is pretty uneventful, but on the way back we get some very interesting moments!

This was a really fun and adorable snow-road-trip-adventure-second-chance-kind-of-rom-com!

I loved it. It was not really all that long and you kinda know from the first pages what is going to happen, but I enjoyed reading it. It was a cute romance! Lia was a bit (okay, a lot!) ridiculous and I wanted to hit her over the head with my kindle multiple times - why is she still with that guy???? Ugh, I would've kicked him out the door 4 years and 363 days ago! Jeez.

It was a cute romance with cute moments, but there was a lot missing. It felt like Katy wanted to write a quick & cute rom-com but she got lost between novella and novel and it's not either of those things. It could've/should've had more depth and just more of everything!
What was it with mentioning the mafia at all? I would've expected some kind of exciting crime thing to happen to them. And Lia's brother? He also seemed interesting, maybe he'll get his own book ...
Also ... 500 wedding guests??? And all in one little Colorado lodge? Royal weddings don't have that many guests ... a bit weird!☺

But I really loved Miles!☺ He was the best part of the book. A kind of detective Monk hottie! ☺

BEST MAN was an adorable, sexy & funny & sad snowy-road-trip-wedding love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Miles! This one is mine! ☺

4-4.5 ⭐'s

The story begins right before Aaron and Lia's wedding starts but then it goes back in time a few days when everyone starts arriving at the venue.

Lia finds out that Aaron forgot the wedding rings. It's only five hours away so Lia decides to go get them. She just didn't count on the best man (that she hates) to come with her.

At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book. Aaron and Lia just didn't grab me. I thought Lia was way too involved in her wedding planning and don't even get me started on Aaron. There were red flags everywhere!

However, once the trip started, things got interesting. I loved hearing about the back story especially from the best man's POV.

The situation got a little hairy at the end. I wasn't sure which way things were going to go. All I can say is that I'm proud of Lia. AND I really liked how she handled things after that.

My only complaint is that the book was too short. I would've liked more at the end...and just more!

hmmmmm le sigh

The concept of the story gets a high 5 from me.
The execution of the story gets a high 5 from me.
The choices the author made for her characters get a BOO from me.

Cute story and I liked it but man did Lia rub me the wrooooong way! Wait, no, not all of her, but that whole five year with a person like Aaron just BAFFLES ME and honestly, it comes down to choices. Authors make choices every day about how/who they want their characters to be. This choice didn't do it for me and it almost ruined the entire story for me *shrug*

4.4 ⭐️

ARC received for an honest review

I wasn't expecting Best Man to turn up on my Kindle, however I dived right in when I saw it.

Now, I have adored all the Katy Evans, this one - not so much.

We can tell right from the get go that the fiance is a douchenugget - which is fine, he is what he is.

I adored Miles - the best man - right away. You get the feels right away that he is not what he is made out to be.

However, my problem in this story is our leading lady Lia.

Oy, what a doormat! I get you love the guy, however why, why, why do you let him treat you the way he does? Why go back? Heck, even as things evolve in the time of this story, you know but what, you don't care? Don't give AF? I really don't understand you at all.

It made you really unlikable, and if it wasn't for Miles, I think I would have given up on this one - sorry Ms Evans.

If you can get over Lia's lack of backbone, you will probably enjoy this more than me.

I’ve read other Katy Evans books and I have really liked them but I am sorry to say this one pissed me off!!!

Lia was way too stupid for me. It was clear at the beginning that her fiancé was an asshole. How she didn’t see that, I have no clue. Seriously a complete jerk and she allowed him to treat her poorly. Now, had it only occurred that way in the beginning and she came to her senses by 50% in, I probably could have let it go but she continuously allowed his poor behavior and ignored his past indiscretions. I just kept thinking she was going to come to her senses but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Miles was awesome which is the only reason I am giving this book a 3 rating because otherwise it might have been a 1….2 at the very most.

The storyline itself was interesting and could have in theory been really great but Lia just really ruined it for me.

Well I'm not technically SPEECHLESS because I actually have a lot to say in regards to this book. Could there be anymore tropes added to this story??? Mafia. Second chance. Insta-love. Cheating. Fiances best friend. One night stand. Some stories can withstand having multiple plot lines within but I didn't feel this was one of those stories. There was too much, but yet not enough going on. It lacked substance, depth. I honestly did not like the heroine and did not feel the connection with the hero. Most of the book was spent proving to me that Lia, the heroine, was shallow and pretentious. Then right at the end it shifts and I'm to believe she's indeed NOT that way and she was just coming off that way bc she was blinded by the IDEA of what she wanted... the fairytale wedding and guy, even though her fiance was ANYTHING BUT prince charming. She came off as a doormat to a lying cheater and I couldn't find sympathy for her and her choices. Miles (best man) was a contradiction, of course. He's quiet, reserved, and a germaphobe (yep, that's what I said) but he lets HER in, let's her touch him. But his aloofness made it impossible for me to read him and his motives and ultimately love him. I did like him because of his quirkiness throughout though. I just couldn't FEEL the connection, in the present, between these two. They hated each other for some reason, I still don't know exactly WHY. I enjoyed reading their past ONE TIME interaction though, but even that seemed farfetched and too sudden.

Unfortunately, this was a hard miss for me. Which bums me out! I had hoped that this would be the rare "one night stand" book that I'd like, but alas it was not. I listened to the audio and the narrator was great, but to be honest if I was READING this book, I would've DNFd it. I did indeed make it all the way through but with 90% of the book leading up to what was called "D DAY" (her wedding day which was also the same date as the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, which even Lia DIDN'T know😳) and the whole book literally taking place in 2 DAYS (with a couple flash backs from their one night stand) years ago, I just couldn't very on board with this "when you know, you just know" memo. Clearly Leah DIDN'T know for 6 YEARS.

I guess I'm just not a fan of books with that fast of a turnaround and I was proven again that I'm STILL NOT a fan. Maybe you are... if so you can give this book a try, or not.

The big day has finally arrived and Lia wants to make sure that everything goes as she has planned it. She's making sure to cross her t's and dot her i's yet she didn't plan on "the love of her life" forget one of the most important things needed- the rings. And what she doesn't need nor expect is to spend time with the "chip on his shoulder and mad at the world man" that she never thought she would see again.

Miles and Lia had me wanting to chew my nails because the more I read the more I was like this doesn't seem like it was going to end well. They both had to clear the air and let their true feelings show but I wasn't sure who would end up surviving. Be prepared to love, hate (mildly...sort of ;-) ), cry and laugh with these two!!! Have you ever had that moment when reading a novel, the moment you know you're going to love this novel but as you're in the process of reading it you quickly come to the realization that love isn't a strong enough word for how you feel?

That pretty much sums up my life right about now.

I always knew I was a fan of Katy Evans. Ever since the moment I read Real (Real Series, #1) I knew Katy Evans was going to go down in history as one of my top three favorite authors and to be completely honest, I haven't felt this twisted over a novel written by her since I devoured the Real series. To say I missed the angst that comes with her storylines would be a huge understatement. I missed the heart wrenching moments of not knowing what is going to happen next. I missed the Breathtaking beauty of finding love in the most unpredictable places. I missed it all and I'm so freaking glad she brought that feeling back to life!

I decided to skip the about the book section of my review. I feel Best Man is best to go into blind and unsuspecting of what's to come.

So I'm going to end this review by saying, I freaking loved everything to do with Lia's story! I loved the angst, the confusion, the suspicions, the joy, and of course the sexy as sin flashback scenes. So summing it all up, I pretty much loved everything about Best Man! I can't wait to see what Katy Evans has up her sleeve next.

Had the whole "I hate him" drama not been overdone, I would have loved this book! As is, even with her over the top "hate" and bashing him, I still very much liked this book (once she moved past the putting him down part).

I really liked his character and the explanation of events. I enjoyed the insight and revelations on his part. I just wish she would have been less annoying and that the hating part would have been tuned down some notches.

I enjoyed this one from Katy Evans, albeit predictable. However, I loved that Miles (the best man) was so different than 'normal' book heroes. I wish these two would have communicated better and of course, there is a fine line between love and hate, but our heroine was just oblivious. TOO oblivious. But, it made for a heart-warming story with the right result at the end.

Miles is such a smart***, “yeah. We wait. This is a public rest stop. Someone’ll be around eventually.” For me this was a quick read, wasn't in love with it, but I also didn't hate it. I liked Miles, and I wish Lia had more backbone, she kinda came off as a pushover.

Review by Lisa Kane

When you know, you know.

I loved the way this story was laid out. Each chapter arranged by time. Going back and forth. Slowly building up the suspense. Lia is about to marry Aaron. Now it doesn't take long to figure out that Aaron is a jack ass. He doesn't deserve Lia and I was a little confused as to why she stayed with him for five long years. He doesn't appreciate her and I have a sneaky suspicion he might have "appreciated" a few other women in their time together.

Aaron forgets the rings (another reason I didn't like him!) and Lia is going to get them, only Aaron can't make it so he's sending his best friend, Miles Foster in his place. Now there's a lot of history between Lia and Miles. Some interesting history.... things are starting to fall into place.

Best Man is a relatively short read but it does pack a lot of punch. Lia frustrated the hell out of me. She is smart but lacks self confidence. Why, oh why does she put up with Aaron? There would be no agonizing over the choice between Aaron and Miles for me. Miles is a deep guy, with a touch of mystery. But you can tell he's a good guy who doesn't want to hurt anyone. How Aaron earned the friendship of Miles is beyond me.

I will say I did want a little more of Lia and Miles at the end of the story. Just a little more meat with my book sandwich. But all in all, Best Man is a great read!

"...so that you notice I've got your heart. Very, very firmly in my hands, Lia."

What’s amazing about this story is the majority of it takes place in the span on 24 hours. I really liked Lia and her blinders she wore around Aaron drove me a little insane. Miles...he’s one tall, dark and brooding hottie. The two were like oil and water but stuck together the hidden feelings are slowly revealed. I loved the tension and twist but with just 24 hours and flashbacks...I wish they’d had more time. Still it was a fun read and kept me entertained. I was sucked into how everything would turn out and couldn’t stop turning pages.

Gahhhhhh! I don’t know how I feel after this one. On one hand I’m like omg it’s great and the other hand I’m feeling a little frustration. I had a little trouble relating to the characters at the beginning but by the end I was on board and rooting for them. Heck I was even growling at one in particular. Overall though this book had that Katy feel. It was definitely a good read. The story was different and not something you would read all the time. I wanted more! I loved Lia and Miles. He was so broody and definitely upfront about his needs I loved him! I just needed more of them together after the storm I enjoyed them so much.

I adore Katy Evans. So I knew I would totally enjoy tis book. I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely adored the unique storyline but above all else I loved the characters. Especially Miles.I think I have a new book boyfriend! And is he broody?? He totally is. The best man is a man tough on the outside but that's not all there is .
As the story progressed, so did the amazing character development. THIS is why I adored this book so much. A totally new favorite book from Katy Evans. I highly recommend it. Perfect, quick read that will keep you awesome company this holiday season!!!

i hate cheating story, this one absolutely is, the three people inside, they cheated. boyfriend n girlfriend then best friend.

the girl just spoiled, do8ng big and get out easily. luckily she has a good parents, willing to pay, a big brother to accept whatever she done. a best girlfriend that she doesn’t care.

this is not the one who love romantic, loyalty story.
