Alien Eau de Toilette by Mugler is a Amber Woody fragrance for women. Alien Eau de Toilette was launched in 2009. Top notes are Citruses and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Moroccan Jasmine and White Flowers; base notes are White Amber and Cashmeran.

Fragrant talisman Thierry Mugler Alien arrives in a new package and with new fragrant notes. It is announced by Goddess of the Sun dressed in golden clothes, seductive and powerful, giving shiny light to all women who choose it. The unusual aura it radiates glows from the heart of the gem designed like a palace from a fairy-tale.

The new Alien Eau de Toilette 2009 is the fourth in the line of Alien editions. The first version was presented in 2005, followed by two summer, limited editions, Eau Luminescente and Sunessence. The new Alien has the same flacon as summer edition and it arrives as amethyst crystal. Its energy and purity reflects on smooth surfaces, presenting the purest and the lightest notes of the composition.

Top notes of Alien Eau de Toilette 2009 bring us mandarin essences which tingle and wrap the aura just like sunlight of Mugler's goddess. Bitter accords of citruses’ skin improve luminousness and freshness of the composition. A heart is dominated by Moroccan jasmine with intensive notes of white flowers. This combination of floral essences gives a precious and feminine tact to the fragrance. Its base is composed of white amber, which adds a modern nuance, mixed with Cashmeran accords, leaving a seductive and sensual trace on the skin.

Goddess of the Sun which presents this edition is dressed in golden clothes with an airy veil. Her face is decorated with golden make-up and golden eyelashes which attract attention leaving an impression of radiant light.

Alien Eau de Toilette 2009 arrives as 30 and 60 ml EDT in September 2009.

I purchased this before the EDP version & they’re very similar, this one’s lighter & fresher!
very good projection/longevity for an EDT!
I don’t think you need both but I do prefer the edp version if I had to choose!

Hannehoney

This smells so much better on my skin than the EDP. This is fresher, more juicy and bright. Easier to wear. Nice everyday scent and it lasts on my skin for about 6 hours with a moderate projection :)

babyblueheaven

this is the guy i like fav perfume so i got it. i shouldn't have trusted a man's judgement

vildeska

I prefer the creaminess and longevity of the original EDP - to my surprise. Bought the EDT because I tend to prefer the lighter versions of Mugler’s perfumes. But to me this is just a watered down and yet sharper version of the original.

gkbertini

Used to use this but the more I smell it the more sick of it I get. It’s definitely a unique smell but I think it’s too warm for me. Kind of migraine inducing. Sillage is massive and it will last FOREVER. Just not my taste unfortunately.

dinkleheit

This is a very strange perfume, I say this in the best way possible. This is a powerful perfume, I sprayed myself twice with it and it was probably too much. I think it's likely a perfume to start a conversation more than others because of how unique it is. As popular as it is, I haven't smelled it on anyone myself because I would remember it for sure. I only say I like it because it likely won't be a signature scent for me and more for when I am feeling playful or colorful. I think it's a good scent for the club or going out, but not for family dinners or anything like that because of how intense it is.

BalladsOfViolet

blind bought this after a friend told me to buy it and oh boy i am so obsessed. im a freak when it comes to jasmine and this perfume is everything and i LOVE the dry-down. it is so majestic

NickyGeorge

I used to wear this in 2006. I used to loved it. Smelled so classy and sophisticated.

They’ve changed something in it now that I simply just don’t like. Also smells a little outdated now maybe a little too common.

Would love a more modern version of this but have yet to find it

febia

Boring. Smells like a generic sample scent from a magazine.

MagdalenaM

My second review.

I used to looove Alien, however I now feel a little off wearing it. It smells like a party scent to me, and I find it a bit outdated. Maybe not the formulation itself, but the fact that I have smelled it a billion times on just about anybody by now. It just doesnt deluver the same punch. Maybe Im just too 30.

IsSheNotFragrant

Alien EDP was my signature for several years and I still wear it occasionally. Alien always had an edginess to it but the addition of unspecified "white flowers" to this EDT has stuffed it full of a 'mature' screechy floral soapiness which I don't like at all. My guess is that they've done this to save money - sambac jasmine is more rarified and delicate than the random white florals that they've used in this. This change in composition has fundamentally altered the smell despite the ostensible similarity to the EDP - a similarity which fades with the dry down to something unpleasantly synthetic. Whereas the jasmine in the EDP is not sweet, I detect the presence of tuberose in the mix which adds to the syrupy cloying accord that gives you a headache. Its almost like a cheap dupe of the EDP. The citrus notes do not provide any airy-ness or freshness; they're much too low key. Its dominated by sweet, clammy florals which actually makes it smell more dated than the EDP and more mature; not in a good way. Definitely a thumbs down for me. This is not simply a lighter version of the EDP. Its sickly and not a safe blind buy by any means.

chimidoro

The reformulation of the edt is just like a jasmine candle. It's really disappointing. I'm a massive fan of the original edt, but the current formula, while nice, just doesn't compare.
It's also a lot weaker than the old formula.
The edt version of ALIEN is one of my favourite ever fragrances, but not the current formula, not by a stretch.

Tembacat

If you look at the word "perfume" in the dictionary this is what would be pictured. I wish this matched the branding, but instead it is about as generic as a scent can get. Like if you walk into a Macy's in the mid-2000s and experience the cloud of perfume that has merged in the cosmetics department. I like the jasmine but there are more interesting fragrances out there that utilize it better. Becomes powdery in the drydown but does maintain its projection, and in that sense it is a good performer for those who like it. Hard pass for me though.

fyre92

For my people having a hard to finding fusion just get this. ITS THE SAME minus the ginger and tuberose. This one is fruitier with more of the original alien dna in it.

pinotos802

A little bit lighter and more wearable than the EDP, you definitely either love it or you hate it.

catonmars

I blind bought this fragrance after hearing overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I accidentally bought the EDT instead of the EDP. After trying both the EDT and EDP I can confidently say that I’m not a fan of jasmine because DANG that jasmine note must be a pro wrestler 'cause I almost got knocked the fuck out after one whiff. This perfume absolutely KILLED and ABUSED my sense of smelling. It smells exactly the same on my skin as on a test strip, way too strong for my taste. Definitely not a safe blind buy!

ShadowoftheWaxwing

I'm bewildered by this EDT. I can smell the citrus and jasmine backed up by warm amber but the biggest thing I'm getting is pepper, and it's nowhere in the notes. It's very well blended but that pepper note is so forward I'm just not into it. I thought it might fade in the drydown but it didn't. Sad. I can see why people like it.

Gi5elle.C

Alien EDT is delicious. It's like the daytime-spring-summer version of Alien EDP, only better. Lasts forever on my skin and hair and has garnered many compliments.

snopea

bright, sparkly citrus opening. turns to a lighter jasmine than the EDP, with a transparent amber

Fatima1219

It’s been quite a story trying to get my hands on this popular fragrance, that is everywhere! Lol
It was well worth the wait! A coworker took me to the mall, and told me to pick out a birthday gift. Of course, I picked out Alien! I have a dupe that I keep in my car and have been using for years—a wonderful dupe! No complaints!
The actual fragrance is a bit creamier, and more mysterious. The subtle-boldness of this fragrance is not for everyone. It is actually for the Aliens of the fragrance world. Those who follow the beat of their own drums, those who trust their own instincts, and have self-sufficient energy. The woman who spritzes on Alien—is not a follower. The jasmine is wild in this one, not a safe blind-buy!

faustute

Just very basic jasmine smell. It’s not bad, but just too simple.

LeChemiste

I am a big fan of the OG Alien EDP, so it's no wonder that EDT completely stole my heart. This citrusy white floral powerhouse lasts for hours and works soooo well with my skin chemistry. Oftentimes I could smell it even after I'd shower, when its ambery base would develop into something beautifully sweet. Despite its strength, somehow this is one of those fragrances that never gave me a headache. Once I spray it, it is there all day, but still easygoing and fresh enough not to become overbearing. Truly a beautiful interpretation of the original scent, outstadingly elegant and feminine.

as-olivia

A very intense, distinctive scent that I feel most people have come across and are familiar with. To be applied sparingly, as it very easily becomes overpowering. Despite being a peppery scent I have never been able to identify or recognise the notes in this perfume. It’s a very synthetic artificial scent that I find works best in the rain or while you’re clubbing. Not a scent for the office or a casual day out in my opinion.

Very reminiscent of Crystal Noir by Versace but does have a more artificial DNA. Unmistakably Alien. Trying before you purchase is a must.

The refillable bottles are a wonderful idea.

strutdontrun

I loved this on me when I tried it at the perfume counter. Fresh and lovely, it smelled so good. I immediately understood the magic of Alien ppl talk about. And it lasted amazingly which surprised me for an EDT. I bought a gift set with the EDP bc I thought they were very similar & I feel EDPs usually last longer on me and boy was I wrong. The EDP gave me the biggest headache ever & honestly even when it subdued a bit after spraying, it didn’t smell nearly as nice as the EDT. I will be returning the EDP & buying the EDT, but just a heads up to anyone interested in both & is sensitive to heavy scents. I also saw some other reviews saw this one annoyed them vs the EDP which is interesting. It was my mistake for not doing my research & getting caught up in my excitement for the EDT. I will say though that the EDT has the potential to be a signature fragrance for me & is definitely worth it.

Oladin

My mom and me always loved The Police Sinner, but it was unfortunately discontinued. I decided to get Alien EDP for her, but by mistake I ordered EDP. EDP makes me a bit sick due to some sweetness in it, and EDT is a bit too citrusy and too less flowers. I wouldn't expect EDT and EDP differ so much. It's more like Alien intense and Alien Light. I think they are both nice parfumes, and EDT is a safer buy and easier to wear. The Police Sinner was just perfect, and none of these two can beat that scent.
Can't wait to give it to my mom and hear her opinion.

vanillashpice

In terms of Post loreal Alien, this IMO is superior to Alien Eau de Parfum . Neither come close enough to the original Clarins formulation of Alien, but the Edt Comes closer . It’s grapey, effervescent and Fresh . But it has a little amber and the jasmine is toned down here which is what I needed because the edp is just straight up granny Jasmine perfume now . . This tones that jasmine down , it doesn’t provide the ambery depth and dimension that the original had . But it also doesn’t reek . It’s wearable it’s nice when I want to smell a little bit of the alien dna this will do .

etee

My mom used to wear this in my childhood. No woman scent can surpass this one for me. Takes me back to when everything was simple and fun.

justcheckinout

This is Alien without the heavy dose of amber and metallic touch of jasmine. Cashmeran is more prominent here than in the EDP. The opening citrus definitely makes this fresher. The jasmine in the EDP is blooming at its peak but then gets crushed in a metal mortar, but the jasmine here in the EDT is blooming before its peak, not being picked yet. It becomes more powdery as it dries down. Cashmeran and jasmine are the most prominent in the drydown, with some amber in the background. When it becomes a skin scent 4 hours after spraying, only the slightly aquatic jasmine is left.

Khelish

I really hoped I'd love this - I was sure I would. I think the OG Alien is beautiful, and I love Alien Goddess. Sadly, the EDT annoyed my nose. I disliked it enough to just toss the sample. I don't know why - I wish I could put it into clearer words for this review. It was a distracting scent whenever I caught a whiff of it as I wore it, and not in the good way. It felt fussy. Even though I like citrus and jasmine, this just didn't do it for me. Very strong, though. A light spray goes a long, long way and I think that's wonderful.

chimidoro

I am an ALIEN obsessive. An obsessee.

This is ALIEN with Sprite/7up/lemonade and fresh ginger in the opening. This is ALIEN without the dry tonka and with less of the cedar.
This is a softer, lighter, brighter, fresher, more dewy, more casual and easygoing version of ALIEN.

But it is still distinctly ALIEN.

I generally don't go in for eau de toilette versions of my favorite eau de parfum fragrances. I never really see the point in them. But there are exceptions, especially when the main, original version of the fragrance is so potent and unique a scent as ALIEN.

An ALIEN EDT could have gone badly wrong. It had the potential to really suck. It could have smelled just like a fake, copycat version of ALIEN, but it doesn't. ALIEN EDT is a scent all its own, with the juicy, syrupy jasmine of the original remaining in tact and the amber softened.

I find this very easy to wear, any time, any place. Side by side, hand in hand with my beloved ALIEN. A TRUE eau de toilette.

When I sprayed this today my male best friend got the craving to wear ALIEN himself and our brief discussion on this matter lead to the conclusion that the eau de toilette version is perhaps less unisex than the original edp. Something to bear in mind? The EDT may be construed as a more feminine version of ALIEN, therefore perhaps better suited to those who have found the original ALIEN too heady, deep and bold?

I LOOOOOVE ALIEN. 💜

(Quick note - have found that spraying this on top of ALIEN EDP after a day's wear makes for a perfect refresher of the jasmine note, when I'm fatigued by it in the original and can no longer smell it, this amps it up a notch or twenty!)

Note to reader - my review is based on the old formula of this.

The CURRENT FORMULA is far weaker, more one dimensional, really does smell like a dreaded copycat of itself. Exactly what I feared the original EDT might smell like... but the original formulation of the EDT is amazing, while this current reform, though pleasant, lacks heart. Or ought I to say it lacks BASE? It just isn't nearly as good. There's a touch of something plastic in the current version, rubbery? Gasoline? Candle wax? The jasmine actually smells not dissimilar to some used in Lush's Lust. I never saw a link between Alien and Lust before.
Such a shame it lacks the complexity and richness of the original EDT, still enjoyable mind you, just lacking.

JaneBond

Category: White floral, fresh, slightly aquatic.

Notes: Starts off sweet, fresh and floral, EXTREMELY heavy on the white flowers, mainly lily-of-the–valley and jasmine, and some very soft notes of freshly washed linen. Middle notes are a bit more citrusy, almost a little alcoholic and stings the nose, which then continues onto a note I unfortunately can't describe as anything other than shampoo or shower gel. It finally settles in a slightly sweet mix of white flowers and fresh rain.

Vibe: Ethereal, soft and gentle. Fairy-like. White dress, dancing in a field of flowers. Foggy forest in the morning. Once fully dried down, it reminds me of elves dancing on a foggy lake or rain in a tropical forest. For some reason there is somewhat of a manic pixie dream girl quality to this scent.

Sillage: 7/10. One spritz isn't going to do a whole lot, but with a couple of spritzes this can become lovely in open air and nearly nauseating in enclosed spaces. It becomes more potent upon dry-down, so beware.

Longevity: 6/10. In hot weather, this just melts right into the skin and disappears fairly quickly, especially if you get warm and sweaty. In fall, winter and spring when the temperatures are a bit colder, I find this holds a lot better. It holds amazingly well on cotton clothing.

Wear: Day or night, leaning towards day. Winter and spring. Great for a casual date.

Overall rating: 7.5/10. A great day-time perfume if you want to smell fresh and clean. It is not a very complex perfume, but it is lovely. As someone who absolutely despises powdery scents, as they tend to make me nauseous, I think this being placed in the powdery category is a complete mislabeling. This is a fresh, invigorating scent that isn't too sweet or feminine in an overbearing, girly way.

smoergari

too feminine for my taste, i like the edp version better.

MaxieF

This is 97% like alien fusion. Alien fusion is a tiny bit fruitier. Alien EDT is a bit more watery and aquatic. But now owning both i don't think I could go through both cause they're so so similar. I think I'd pick fusion but it's so so hard cause they're literally almost the same fragrance.

Edit: I ended up keeping only fusion.

Lausal2328

Citrus, grape-y, it has a hint of minerality like Tom Ford's Metalique or Alien Mirage, it has the Alien DNA but it still very different, not sexy but nice, I like the EDP better.

brandybasisty

I have a 2009 bottle- one or two sprays on the wrist is all I need, though I'm not sure how longevity compares in newer formulations. I get a fresh, clean citrus musk with added grape-like sweetness from the jasmine. While the amber adds depth and smoothness, there is something that feels sharp to my nose and perhaps that's what makes it project so well. I really enjoy the trail of Alien, but it gives me a headache if I want to take a closer sniff- which I usually want to do. Not sure if this is a love or like...

ilovetess

The original alien EDP is my favorite of all time, so I decided to try the EDT. Not a fan. It’s just a soapy more citrusy version of EDP. There is no sexy amber dry down which is my favorite part about alien….just no. Also only lasted 2 hours on my skin then completely disappeared. Very headache inducing while it lasted

Zae

Calm and relaxing... I love it

gnathaliegh

I has always been intrigued by the original Alien, every time I went to a perfume shop, I would smell it. But I always decided against buying it because it's pretty much unwearable for me.
Now I'm even happier to have the EdT in my collection. The citrus in the opening smells very realistic to me, not overly sharp. And then the Alien jasmine comes through and it's just so beautiful. It's still quite a strong scent with great longevity but to me, it's more delicate and sophisticated but likeable at the same time. The drydown is almost creamy on me. Overall, this is a great perfume, especially if you love white florals. If you like the EdP but it's too much for you, definitely check out this beautiful flanker :)

Fefe19

Take Alien edp and make it lighter, brighter and more fresh. It’s elegant and refined, whereas I’d qualify the edp as sultry. It’s perfect for day or night all year round. I get jasmine tea instead of jasmine flower. I love both edp and edt and although they are very close, I find a different use in both. I grab this one more when I want a light Alien. I won’t say it’s a watered down version of the edp. It’s just brighter. The performance is great, lasts all day, on skin, in the hair and on clothes. It projects the whole time, I constantly get wafts of it during the wear. I don’t know if this one is being discontinued like most of Mugler’s perfumes. I hope not or will need to grab some back ups!

ayken

I do like this but again this smells almost too generic. This also reminds me of Lancome's Tresor de nuit. this one is a bit fresh and not too youthful but sweet like bubble gum. This is more of a mature woman scent, for those who still want to embrace their sweet sides that do want to be noticed easily and not be reserved. No shade to the latter, I belong to the latter group too sometimes as I love fresh notes more than sweet notes. Easily likable so I do get the hype around this one.

electric_evelyn

This is the real gem for me. Truly a mesmerizing scent, like no other!
I often find myself craving this, it’s so intoxicating!

Surprisingly the edt lasts longer than the edp on me. It stays for days on clothes and also long lasting on skin too. Must be something with the PH of the skin.

I generally have a problem with longevity in perfumes, and it’s a bit hard to find the perfect lasting ones. But this edt and Angel edp are true bombs for me and I’ll certainly use them forever.

pulcinella

This is hard to find, so I’m guessing the talk about it being discontinued is true. Such a shame, I like it more than og Alien. This edt is more wearable than the beastly edp, while still being very noticeable and long lasting.

On my skin, Alien edt is 99% jasmine. Amber and cashmeran are in the background, but jasmine is the protagonist in this. That’s more than enough for me. It’s mature, yet reminds me of my childhood. Love it so much. Hope it gets a rerelease, or I can find it somewhere!

iremkaraoglu

white flowers have never smelled so beautiful and delicate.

maritzza

Alien is a must for me! I love the jasmine and amber here, so beautiful! This is better than the EDP version in my opinion, this is still a strong one. Not too strong! Some like this for a signature scent, I would personally wear it at night.

annn1

I love Angel and most of its flankers, I love Womanity and am intrigued by Aura for their boldness and uniqueness. But unfortunately Alien, Mugler's most beloved and least controversial scent ever, falls totally flat for me. I tried the Edp at many occasions and I have owned the Edt for a while now but will probably sell it on very soon. Alien simply is not for me.

Love the bottle. Love the name which is very fitting for a scent that feels cold, clean, futuristic and almost metallic to me. Like clean edges and brushed metal. As far as you can possibly get from the warm, familiar, slightly old worldly hug you expect from white florals. Maybe that's why Alien doesn't work for me. It's not warm and comforting at all and I guess it's not supposed to be either.

On top of that I find it incredible linear and one dimensional. It's jasmine. It starts out 100% jasmine and 8 hours later it still is 100% jasmine. I never owned a perfume that didn't change or develop over time at all. I guess that's great if you're totally in love with it, but if you're not quite sold, like me, that linearity is disappointing, almost annoying. It's like that friend or partner you wish would change and become the person you need them to be until you realise that they never will and that it's time to move on. So, yeah, Alien and I will have to part ways after all. We just don't fit. Although I am finding it strangely difficult to let go.

M1tsouko

this is a more wearable less intoxicating version of alien. This is now a more spring or warmer season because it's less intense. If you think the original alien is too cloying, then this is definitely for you.

For the opening it smells a little bit like almonds then dissipates into the peaceful fresh jasmine. I absolutely love this so much!!!

vrinsun

A fresher version of Alien EDP.
Alien eau de parfum is my true irreplaceable love, but i wanted to get a summer version of it.
I definitely get citrus at the opening, with Alien’s DNA.
The drydown is very Jasmine-y, realistic jasmine.

I get somewhat sugary artificial smell which I’m not a fan of. I hope I’ll warm up to it since i love the edp so much

To be honest I’m not a huge fan of the edt but i will definitely use it in the summer, when my alien edp will be too heavy

The Nose that Knows

I normally don't reviews female fragrances but this one I had to. I remember when I first smelled this, I would have to say that it was absolutely mesmerizing. The fragrance is not for everyone but I must say it's very seductive.
If you want to dress this fragrance it goes like this:
Black patent pants with black patent high heels of course..... Alien🖤❤🖤is a sexy fragrance. 💄

KylieBooFace

Beautiful rendition of Alien. I have only Alien Fusion to compare it to. I would say Alien EDT is very grape-y, bold white floral, and quite strong for an EDT. It reminds me of the beach somehow, and shares a strikingly obvious DNA with Alien Fusion. Alien EDT is more sparkling to me, and perhaps a bit less sweet? Alien Fusion of course has the warm spices and seems more rounded/smooth.

There is something bewitching about Mugler scents, whether you are team Alien, team Angel, or both like me. I suppose I am a Mugler EDT girl for the most part. Alien EDT is a scent that makes me feel happy and peaceful, like the (radically different) Angel EDT 2019. Alien EDT smells like a grape popsicle on the beach, surrounded by beautiful lush white flowers. Angel EDT (2019) is like sipping on a Coca-Cola in a (fruity) candy shop with peonies.

singlehandedbeauty

I LOVE Alien EDP and many of the pre-Loreal flankers, but unfortunately, the EDP triggers my headaches. However, I'm truly happy to say that not only is the EDT is much more forgiving, it's also a true stunner in its own right. The biggest difference is the slight citrus opening (which fades quickly), a softer amber, and its enveloping powdery, musky quality, which I absolutely love. I also find the EDT to be warmer and more inviting. I feel so beautiful, alluring, and feminine when I wear this, and my husband really likes it too. Longevity on the skin isn't the best, but it lasts ages on clothes. It is disappointing that Alien EDP doesn't work for me, but if it had, I probably wouldn't have discovered this beauty.

Sunkissed

A burst of citrus followed by jasmines. I was curious to try this because it's so popular (they didn't have an EdP tester at the store that day) and I like it, but I don't think it's for me. My husband also seemed to have an allergic reaction so I'm wondering if this was the culprit. I didn't have the chance to spray it on skin so I will retest it again in the future just so I can understand it better and make sure it wasn't the cause of the allergy. I also tried another flanker that made me think of a lemon cookie, but I can't remember which one it was so I guess I will be testing the whole Alien line.
The bottle always intrigued me so I'm happy I was able to try it. :-)

JasminePetal

I tried the eau de parfum version of Alien and quite liked it, but nog enough to actually buy it. It was too heavy, strong and warm. I was surprised to discover that the eau de toilette version is so different and actually perfect for my taste. I love citrussy, white flower blends with warm base notes, especially if there's a strong jasmine in it - so this one fits right in! It has quite a zesty feel to it especially at the start, which is balanced by the flowernotes and soft base. But the zest is what keeps it smelling fresh and upbeat, light, without it becoming boring or standard. It then softens more into the flowers, amber and cashmere. Love it! Also it reminds me quite a bit of another scent I own: Sublime Blossom, by Miller Harris. That one has more yellow flower notes in it, so it's sunnier. But it definitely reminds. And reminds also slightly of Glam Jasmine by Michael Kors, even though that was much more singular scent.

trenee

To me this is a wearable version of Alien. I admire Alien and enjoy smelling it on other people but I could never wear it it was just too heavy. This is like an ice cold citrusy drink on a hot summer day. Super refreshing.

Decemer10

I kept trying Alien but it always was too warm for my liking. The scent I admire on other people so I decided to choose eau de toilette version and that changed my life haha. Since then this perfume is my BFF.
The worst day becomes brighter when I just spray it in the air. Citrus, fresh jasmine, smooth base. It's elegant, cool, crystal clear and feminine to the core. I think if Merilin Monroe was alive these days she would choose Alien as her signature.

RainbowGirl

Hooray! I think I like this! I trusted my fragrantica fragrance nerds, and they did not do me wrong.

I did not love the EDP, and it reminded me a little of Issey Miyaki L'eau D'Issey EDP, which I already own, so I returned it. I was super disappointed, because I really wanted to love it. The name, the bottle, and a heavy jasmine? I hoped it would be a perfect white floral.

I love jasmine, and I love a strong perfume, but there was something under the jasmine that reminded me of smelling a wildflower. That disappointing yellow grass smell. I smell a hint of it in this EDT too, but it's lighter, and less offensive to my nose.

The scent aura is just a lovely fresh creamy jasmine, and I love the orange citrus opening.

I am pleased that I can own and wear an Alien, without smelling like a field of dead grass... or a nightclub.

Sandycheeks29

I bought a 30 ml non refillable talisman and oh my my I was blown away with how pretty (and otherworldly) the bottle looks and feels in my hands. And being a small bottle it almost felt like I have a large gem waiting to be discovered. Honestly I would buy this just for the sake of the bottle haahaa. Of course the scent delivers well and great. The Alien characteristics are there but not the strong kind, plus citrus to top it off! I love everything about it!

Alien EDT vs EDP: If Alien EDP is a radiant sun, EDT is a glowing moon.

EDT is more of a silvery-cool scent, rather than the warm gold of the EDP. Both are centered on the distinctive, otherworldly Alien jasmine. You know it when you smell it; it's completely different than other jasmines encountered in other perfumes. EDP and EDT diverge in their temperature. EDP is very warm, with fat swirls of thick ambery cashmeran and denser layers of even more jasmine. EDT sticks close to the sparkling weightlessness of the jasmine and accentuates it with icy white musk and chilled orange. When I take a deep inhalation, it feels the same way cold high altitude air does. There is a hint of the original amber-cashmeran here, but it is more of a thin white amber than the heady variety the EDP contains. The citrus eventually dissipates, but the crisp musk remains.

alexz_88

I love Alien. It is one of my favourite scents. However, I didn't know any better and instead of buying EDP the price for EDT was good so I was like 'What the heck! Let's buy it!" and I did, of course.
I don't like it. It isn't a bad fragrance, but, to me, it smells like a watered down version of Alien. Even too much watered down. I only have 30ml and there is a little bit left but it actually hurts me to spray it. I just don't like it. Where is the jasmine like in EDP? It's there, but it smells like you're very standing very far away from the actual jasmine. I would expect it to be creamy and warm from amber - it isn't.
If you don't like the EDP, you may like this one. But I pass.

vkn1988

I loved Alien EDP and I hated it. It was too strong for my personal taste, but I couldn't stop smelling it. I purchased it, cancelled my order, and then regretted cancelling it. It was driving me nuts! Months later, I blind bought the EDT. If only I had started with that first, I would've saved myself from the dysfunctional relationship I had with the original. :P

The original EDP has an impressive lasting power and it has a "weighted/heavy" oomp of sexiness that might lend itself to a more specific wear occasion. (At least in my opinion.) That scent reminds me of an irresistible, bold, confident, sexy woman. I wouldn't associate the word "cute" with that fragrance.

The EDT on the other hand is much lighter, but I can still identify the signature "Alien" scent. Sure, I might have to reapply after 4 hours, but it gives me more versatility. I could wear this any time of the day and any occasion without offending anyone, but still feel confident af.

I think because of the citrus and cashmeran, I get more of a younger, approachable, fun, cute feminine vibe. (But not juvenile!) The jasmine and amber is what keeps the EDT sexy - making this the girl next door. I like this scent, but don't love it like I do the Essence Absolue.

jreyes366

Just got this little baby in today, and I am honestly not surprised by how much I enjoy it. Given, I have tested this before and loved it.

It shares so much of the same opulence the OG Alien emanates, but it has a more airy and bright quality as it sits on the skin for a few minutes. The citrus and cashmeran add the fresh and light balance to the strong jasmine.

I love this, I am probably going to finish my bottle in about 9 months (2 ounce bottle) and I also intend to layer this with the OG Alien, they pair together like a dream.

LALDN

Not a huge fan of the EDP but LOVE this!! The EDT is bright, cheerful and still comes on strong but not headache inducing. It is cool where the original is intense. One of the most interesting clean scents you’ll find. I have made myself a great little Mugler collection lately and this one is getting a lot of use. I just wish it lasted longer on my skin. My skin likes to absorb aliens unfortunately.

bladee

I got this not realizing it was not the original (I am new to collecting perfumes). I have to say this is such an impressionable scent! I’ve smelled it on someone else before so it’s nostalgic to my perfume history so maybe I’m bias. It takes me to that first day of good weather in the spring/fall when you’re excited to go outside! I feel excited to explore through the trees & stumbling upon all those beautiful white florals. This scent is so sharp, it was almost headache inducing to me at first, perhaps I wouldn’t get that from the original. The dry down is intoxicating. It is clean yet dark. My friend said it reminded them of a picturesque cornucopia. This scent is perfect for anytime a perfume needs to mimic a pheromone. I’m drawn to it in that way at least!

violetx28

A more citrusy, lighter version of the original, perfect for warmer days if you don’t want to be overwelmed by the strong edp, this is the right choice, lasts pretty good for an edt

szimancsi

...Does anyone else smell grape kool-aid?

I just couldn't do it. The sharp and sugary scent invaded my nose (no seriously, it felt intrusive), so I had to wash it off. I guess it just wasn't meshing well with my skin chemistry because I see a lot of people love the EDT as opposed to the original! I'm just the other way around...nothing compares to classic Alien EDP by Thierry Mugler <3

thatsperf

I'm telling it straight....this is a non-migraine and non nausea inducing Alien. It's Alien, diluted. It feels cool, refreshing and watery thanks to the citrusy top notes. The Daytime Alien. The 'second chance' Alien. Best for spring and summer. The only drawbacks are that it does not last long on my skin, about 2 hours and projection is intimate also after 2 hours. Multiple top-ups are required throughout the day. Also can be hard to find, at least in my area. If you never own a bottle of the original EDP you can give this one a try for you to test the waters

antonija.s

guys, I got this Alien EDT today and I must say that I'm soooo disappointed. to me, this smells like a cheap Juicy C. fragrance. it's not heavy at all, but the cheap smell just throws me off.
all the reviews were so nice tho. :/

gamme82

Alien is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever smelled. It is absolutely divine. I have had the edp on and of for years. Bought edt and i have to say they have the same DNA. Edp last longer and dont have the top notes, but otherwise the same. Its warm and cold at the same time. Today i smelled it for the first time in five years, honestly started crying. Its that lovely! Longevity more than 6 h. Sillage almost fills a room for the first couple of hours of wear.
I hope it never discontinues. The flacon is breathtaking for sure. And Its my favorite colour. LOVE.

Michelle_s

I love the fragrance, scent fresh, jasmine and lil bit sweet .. 🤍🤍🤍ok, this one of my favorite perfume😚

xx2901

Maybe 3 years ago I bought it as my birthday gift to myself. At the moment I thought I need to discover perfumes I never tried before.
This Alien smells like very expensive essential oils of jasmine and orange. Original Alien smells like medicine on me. EDT version is totally another gallaxy, I think it has some solar notes too. It can be easily a summer scent! Fresh, cold, luxurious, sensual, aromatherapic experience.
Alien makes you feel different, more pretty and smarter woman. I call that Thierry Mugler magic.

hanbanana

Oh this is so much nicer than the EDP which gives me an instant headache. Much lighter, fresher and zestier. Although it's not listed as a note I get some pepper at the start of this too. It's not as in-your-face as I expect (and sometimes loathe!) from Mugler and is a fairly safe soft, soapy floral that wouldn't seem out of place on the most respectable, church-going prim and proper lady. Probably not one for my collection but very pleasant nonetheless.

AnotherDabbler

Wonderfully strong, intense jasmine with hints of lilies and other flowers. Cashmeran/amber base has some woody notes in it making it more unique and recognizable.
This one is less sweet, but more airy and clean than the EdP version. Alien EdP has more vanilla in its ambery base which is annoying to me on most days and also reminds me of Dior Addict a lot. (If you can't tell the difference you might suffer from acquired vanilla blindness ;) )

Kiti89

Smells exactly like the EDP which can be good for many because although the scent is identical, the EDP has a harsh quality to it which can be overbearing and headache inducing. However, not good for me because I can't decide which one I want a bottle of! As an oversprayer, I'm leaning towards the EDT as I won't have to restrain myself so much, but I do like the power of the EDP.

It's a sweet jasmine and the woody notes in the EDT are smoother and less spicy than the EDP, which makes it feel like less of an attack on the nose. The citrus notes aren't apparent to me but the effect of them are as this is lighter and more airy than the EDP.

The EDT is a shadow of the EDP, it's what you get from the EDP after many (many, many) hours of wear, but just as good. You lose out on the strength and longevity of the EDP with the toilette. I don't think there's a lot in it and if either one never existed, I think the people who like the EDT but love the EDP and vice versa would almost completely merge into a group of "loves" for whichever perfume remained.

Pandarapt

Love this. The sassy jasmine from Alien without being shaven to death by the rasp of cashmeran-amber, freshly free it feels like it has been electrified into a live wire, leaving the fragrance with the trademark purple hot plasma grape Fanta note in suspended animation. Still smells outerwordly sci-fi whimsical, this thing wouldn't be alien to aliens.

Zu_Fragrance

Alien EDT reminds me of "Cacharel Catch me" so much and - oh my god - this is why I don't like it at all. Ajmal Sacrifice is much better and fresher. I have to try EDP because some reviews say that it is something different so it could be preferable to me...

Edit: EDP Alien = Ajmal Sacrifice - these two are better than EDT fragrance.

kbgirl19

Bought the EDT as I adore the EDP but wanted to try something lighter for summer. When I got it in the mail I sprayed it on my skin and didn't really see a big difference from the EDP. But then I sprayed the EDP and noticed the EDT definitely has a citrus note in the opening, where the original does not. This really makes it much more sparkling and light, and I can now see how it also doesn't have the woodiness of the original either.

It definitely still smells like alien though, and if I wasn't comparing them side by side I would not of really noticed. I personally don't see a problem in wearing the EDP in the spring and summer, but I mainly got it in case I wanted to be heavy on the sprays and wanted not to offend anyone who does care. The EDT is nice but after going through the small bottle I have I will probably not repurchase and continue to use the original exclusively.

Update: On me the EDT only lasted about 2-3 hours. I'll be selling this and I will just use the original.

zirzilla

One of my favourite scents ever. It smells like an expensive luxurious soap. Also this is surprisingly strong for being an EDT, it stays on me for the whole day and I keep getting whiffs of it from morning until the evening.

bel.gravia

A living jasmine kind of scent. A couple of years ago I had a white jasmine bush blooming outside my bedroom every summer. The bloom of the smell of jasmine is in this Alien edt. It is an animalic kind of floral bloom, really flesh like, a sweet intoxicating narcotic bloom. Alien has a very strong ambery woody base as well.... it is a rather simple composition but it is extraordinary. Extraordinary in the sense that putting jasmine and amber together you can produce a boring white floral meh. Alien, however, starts of intense floral and then dries down to a gorgeous woody oriental which I did not expect.

PeonySugar

Alien was always infatuating. But it's teribly warm on my skin. So I tried this lighter version and it was love story from the start. I think this is based on neroli, orange blossom and citrus oils. So fragrant, aromatherapic, extatic. There was a winter I wore it to clubs, concerts, events and since then I see it as the scent full of neon lights, night life and glamour. Whoever you would choose from Alien family, it doesn't matter, I think all versions are just beautiful. This one EDT still carries same flag and delivers compliments.

Vikki1985

I dont like this one which is strange considering that the edp is my favourite perfume of all time. There is nothing nasty smelling about this scent but with Alien its go big or go home for me. The edp is unique and slightly wierd to some yet stunning, however this leans more just wierd and nowhere near as beautiful.

Riordanpett

Has a surprising longevity for an EDT in 2019.
To me, it’s creamier than the EDP, very well blended.
The top notes in the beginning are very citrusy, then it dries down to something that evokes the EDP, with a citrusy vibe throughout, that gently dissipates as time goes on. Can’t quite put my hand on it, but it definitely projects less than its big sister.
If the EDP is too strong, too heady, too daring or too pronounced for you, but you still like the scent and want to wear it daily, the EDT may be a great alternative.
It is still Alien.

Anamandy

This is just like a lighter version of Alien, with a much lighter amber, and the cashmere gives it a soft, velvety component. It might be a good for someone who thinks the edp is too much as it is not as dense. Definitely, much better for warm weather wear.

Sherrywijaya69

Definitely much lighter and less creamy than the original alien edp, the edp was a mix of hot and cold with a body to it, this is more innofensive, but the edp is the real deal, especially essence absolue. loved the amber on the original scent. a lot safer than its flankers (except sunessence & aqua chic)

rutytee

These perfume was my favourite about 3 years. It lasts so long. It's very simple for me, it's not very heavy, they don't have any annoying notes and they are so femine for me. But time goes so fast and day by day I find more and more new scents.

ApathyAngel

The EDP is the rebellious older child. Unapologetic and loud, she knows what she wants and she goes for it. She can intimidate the hell out of people with only a look. She's polarizing, tempestuous, and indomitable.

Whether you love her or hate her, you always notice when she walks in the room.

But the EDT is her likable younger sister. They're close enough that some of that rebelliousness rubbed off on her, and she can be just as intimidating and fierce as her sister, but on the whole, she's friendlier. More cheerful.

Both confident, both assertive, both outgoing and spontaneous and unbridled.

But while EDP might use intimidation or brute force to get her way, EDT can be more subtle. EDP is seductive and mysterious, while EDT is flirtatious and playful.

It's hard to figure out which one I like more.

chicagogirl

A beautiful sparkling white floral. Fresh, clean, bright. I love it so much more than the EDP. The jasmine note in this and in the edp smells like pure, expensive jasmine extract. It reminds me of a really expensive little bottle of oil my uncle got me from the middle east many years ago. Beautiful perfume!!

Coquita

I bought the EDT after falling in love with the EDP version, but I wanted something with a softer sillage to use every day at work (I have a very sensitive sense of smell and I NEVER stopped smelling the EDP until I showered, even if I only sprayed once on my wrist. It even gave me headaches when I wore it in closed places with heating).
The first time I tried the EDT I thought this Alien was from a completely different planet, as the initial jasmine-woody notes that had made me fall for the EDP were completely replaced by sweet, citrusy notes. After about 5 mins the jasmine starts to pop, and after an hour it dominates the composition. Sometimes I get a whiff that smells like grape candy, but it's not disturbing to me and quickly fades. After 4h or so the woody-amber notes appear, and I've noticed that I can still smell them the next morning. The sillage is strong, mainly smelling like the top or middle notes, but it's not as nuclear as the EDP. I have to spray it on my chest and use a woolen sweater to keep it discrete to work.
After a week of consistently wearing it, I can say that I enjoy it, but it doesn't have the "I'm an Alien from planet Amazon, here I come, step away or be abducted" effect the EDP has on me. Its more like the Alien is on a girls' night out having a laugh and some wine in a nice bar, but she can't help being an enticing Alien at its core.

Safira

I have been stalking the Mugler counters for the past couple of weeks trying on Alien. The first time I was instantly amazed and slightly blown away by its powerful impact that - I'm not going to lie - needed a bit of getting used to.

The second time I tried it on, it was all bliss. A wonderful, gorgeous scent and I felt quite baffled that it seemed like a friendlier version of the scent I'd tried the last time. So I went back to the shop, and sure enough, it was the Edt I'd sampled on the second occasion.

Now, don't get my wrong, I love both of them, but the Edt is more wearable and a 'safer' choice. I do find them similar, so they're obviously related, but I wouldn't say the Edt is Alien Light. It has its own right and it's a beautiful, well-rounded creamy scent that lasts and lasts. I wish more Eau de Toilettes were like this one. Sillage and longevity is remarkable.

locknotes06

Hmmm...Ok..it's time I give this one a proper and thorough review after some time of not wearing it.Which I wore just quite recent.

This to me,on the initial spray, smells like what the EDP smells like after a couple hours wear. The Dry down of the EDP basically. But with a hint of something citrusy that is not lemon.Imagine a orange flavoured gummy candy plus a powdery scent.I smelled the powderiness of it in powder form before but can't recall which.

I love to use it more like a casual scent.Lunch or dates with the sun still up.Much better under the warm weather I guess.

And this doesn't have the mysterious vibe of the EDP.It doesn't have the subtle indolic note which made me love jasmine too. It's a citrusy-powdery white floral.A confectionary sugar dusted on an orange flavoured turkish delight with "A white floral".A cleaner jasmine per se.

If the EDP is a perfume that draws in mystery, provokes the dark night with an ethereal and holy vibe but has a devilish-innate core, then the EDT is basically Alien in a good mood where she's just chill but still a succubus but acts like a doe and vixen at the same time. She's just there, being Alien in a good mood, brightening up the place and blending in(which she fails to do) but still manages to stand out.

Longevity is good but not as good as the EDP and sillage is about an arms length or close to skin.Lucky enough if the wind blows up whiffs to people around you.Stays quite good on clothes too.

Final verdict:
This is Alien going out in the day and trying to lay low and have less exposure.

YoungSinflower

1st perfume purchase and 1st perfume review here!

As a 22 year-old who just entered the working world, I needed a fragrance that was youthful but not immature, light enough for our hot Summer coming up, and was office-appropriate.

After smelling 100+ perfumes and testing 20+ on my skin, I
chose this beauty, even though I smelt and fell in love with the EDP first (but don't worry I purchased that too for the evening... and the Flora Futura ;)) The strange thing is that I was first put off by the entire sound and look of the Thierry Mugler range, but now I'm obsessed with the unique packaging and proudly display them on my vanity.

Something about this concoction just grabbed me - Alien EDT is so pleasant/agreeable that I can't imagine someone wrinkling their nose at this, but it's so unique at the same time (just like the bottle it's housed in!) It's nothing like all the boring, powdery florals you'll find littering Chloe and Ellie Saab counters. This is the Eau de Parfum's fresher, more citrusy younger sister, appropriate for day-time and office-wear yet still complex and seductive.

Edit: Sprayed this at 7AM for work, and towards 7PM I was still catching whiffs of this warm jasmine! Now that's remarkable for longevity for an EDT; definitely worth the money.

Fawkey

I recently got this and the edp, this would be my day time one & maybe on warmer days, the edp for nights & cold days. I find this fresher, doesn't last as long & less likely to give other people a headache than the edp which can fill a room.

correspondencepersonal

This wears like an introverted perfume on my skin. I have smelled this on other women - and it projects much more. But on me, this really turns very soft - pretty quickly. For this reason, I have waited to purchase it.

This is in the same family as Narcisso Rodrigues -
Something that beckons you to come closer, it whispers to you.

I love the way that this smells on other women. It is beautiful on them, but I'm not sure that this has enough volume for me to wear. I like something that is a bit more bold than this.

gannapodolska

Who knows the nose of this EDT version? I don't see it in Domonique Ropion's list and cannot find anywhere the information about the nose/noses

martyna08

Wonderful scent! I'm on my second day wearing it and got a huge compliment from a male co-worker :D ! It smells really good, creamy but a bit spicy too, just lovely. Sillage and longevity are good if you spray generously. I will test the EDP and Essence Absolue soon, as fall is coming.

KDJ

A warm-weather friendly version of the original EDP. I adore the EDP, but I still love the jasmine that gives Alien its distinctive recognition, so the EDT is my go to for spring and summer. Most elements from the EDP are present in the EDT, however, the heavy/rich elements from the base notes are subdued.

Cathped

Not as harsh as the original, the eau de parfum. But it smells best after a while, after the initial "burst" is gone.
This is the Version I could have, but unfortunately it's not interesting enough. Maybe if I try it in wintertime it will feel different? It is 29 degrees Celcius here in Norway now...!

locknotes06

I love it the EDT as much as I love the EDP version of Alien. This citrusy, lighter version is much preferable to be worn in the warmer temperatures and won't suffocate people in and around your perimeter.

I'm sniffing this side by side with the Edp and Edt.And this one smells happier to me and the dusty indolic jasmine becomes a lot more dustier and airier and I like it.The mothball feel from the edp is little to none in this one and dissipates within a few minutes and you are left with a lovely white floral with the warmth of amber. And it's like the Alien EDP on your skin after hours of hectic work and you still can get soft whiffs of it.

Buuuuuut I feel a lot powerful and invinsible wearing the EDP despise being a teen.I can wear the Edp casually and walk pass by people without giving a damn.

Performance-wise:Good Sillage and Longevity but I bet this won't project much like the perfume version and just spray it a bit on your hair to add to the performance.

Catty

Klmn00, I agree with you 100%.

Alien edt and also the edp version is the "avant garde" white floral composition. Alien is sultry, sexy, powerful, feminine and very updated. It´s a scent from our time "right here and right now"; you will not exhale that smell heavy "White floral" vintage

The maison Thierry Mugler is amazing in the perfumery branch. They really achieve to compose unique, ultra visionaire formulations and also flacons.

Alien is a Jasmin cultivated in Mars; nothing in this market is similar to it.

I love this masterpiece and my husband too.

Klmn00

I belong to Angel squad and I thought never oh never I will care for Alien. But I have checked this version and my eyes opened wide!
It starts like typical Mugler cologne. But settles to warm jasmine and vanilla. I instantly remember Classique by J.P. Gaultier. So far I appreciated Gaultier but for my nose it was tooooo retro. Alien EDT is more contemporary and modern version of 90's white florals.
Mugler knows how to make sexy scents ...But so different! Angel is raw, jeans, leather and messy hair kind of sexyness. While Alien is sexy in a polished way, red lips and heels on, hair up and no thread is sticking out.

raiza1990

This one is a bit sweeter compared to the original, but apart from that, they smell the same to me.

Pinja

This is where I landed after years of ongoing wait and search for a fruity-floral of my dreams.
In Alien EDT everything is in place for that one fun, super feminine, fruity-floral that is not too girly, not too silly, not too cheap, not too sweet, and no patchouli.

Delicious orange fruit, lush white flowers, smooth yellow amber, colourless solar or cashmeran accords. And that jasmin!
While many fruity-florals fall flat on skin or start fruity and end in the same generic musky nothingness, Alien EDT stays true to itself from the beginning to the end.

edit:
I think the secret of Alien EDT's wonderfulness is that it is without any of the usual "fresh" notes yet it is totally fresh. Fresh flowers, fresh fruit, fresh cashmeran, even fresh amber. (No soap, no calone, no aquatic notes, no fresh powder). Yet the scent is deep and intoxicating at the same time it is fresh, which is pretty amazing.
Fragrantica has given a "powdery" description for this but Alien EDT has zero powder. Quite the opposite. It's silky smooth from the beginning to the end, the feel of the scent is almost liquid.

(while Alien EDP is the signature of 455 people, for Alien EDT it's only 7. Unbelievable.)

muahah

If EDP is more as floral, then this is more as green leaves, added light citrus and have chemical, soapy feel. This so much weaker and more refreshing than EDP. This also is darker, adult perfume, but not that obnoxious sugary sweet as EDP. It's close to skin scent and fades fast. Violet color packaging fit this perfume well.

tiababy

This is my favorite non-gourmand Alien. If you want a more woodsy version of Alien without that grape note, this is it. The first time I smelled Alien, I loved it, and then wondered why I never felt the same way about it every other time I tested it. Turns out the first time I smelled it I was testing the EDT, not the EDP. I like this one much more.

Deneuve

This perfume brings you to an other world. It's sweet end spicy. It makes me weak, haha! And not only me. Men, omg they love it! But it also says: I am an independent woman. Don't over spray it (especially not on your first date). When I go out or when I go on a date I spray this perfume in my hair, it's the best place for Alien EDT I believe.

The EDP is more heavy in sillage and longetivity (you can shower with it and still smell this perfume the next day!).
With the EDT you can not shower with it or smell it the next day (only on clothes/textile).

Soofiya

I don't like original Alien, not just because it has been so popular here that almost every woman has a bottle of it (original or fake)and it's almost the only perfume detectable in weddings.I don't like it because it's too much.Too strong, animalic, actually it makes me sick(no offense to alien lovers)
However I like alien essence absolue and alien taste of fragrance,so after I got a sample of alien edt with one of my purchases,I decided to try it.glad I did so.it's so pretty that I may buy a bottle for spring
Alien edt IS similar to edp version, they're obviously sisters.but this younger sister,is so nice, simple, modest and likable
it's jasmine dominant as edp,but not that hot, dirty, super sweet jasmine of edp,it's a different kind of Jasmine,it's soft and clean(I don't mean soapy by saying clean)AND there are other white florals besides it,can't tell what, but they're gorgeous, calm and delicate
There's a light touch of citruses that keeps it fresh, citruses aren't sour or zesty, they blend so nice that you may not even notice them
There's also cashmeran which almost always reminds me almond (I know it's ridiculous but it's really how I pick it up)cashmeran adds a touch of soft, dry, almond like powder and I think that what makes alien edt similar to cacharel catch me(they are similar but not a dupe, catch me is much more almondy)
It becomes a little warmer and sweet in drydown with amber, even it's amber is different from edp's
All in all I can see similarities but in the same time they're so different that I hate edp and my feeling about edt is something between like and love
Edt isn't a winter scent like edp,it's better for mild weather, like spring and fall, but still it's wearable year round
It's not invasive or sharp.it's soft,delicate,beautifully balanced and feminine,so it's versatile
I can see it a great choice for bride, actually I add it to list of perfumes I have for my wedding party and it may be the winner and I'm not even a fan of Jasmine!
Longevity and sillage aren't as great as edp,but don't let the word "edt" let you down, remember that a mugler "edt" can beat lots of other "edps" in a second.it's staying power is very good.almost 8 hours on skin.sillage is moderate but it leaves a lovely trail while you walk
If you're an alien lover, edp one,and you're looking for a milder version for spring, summer or office, give it a try, even if you dislike original alien but you'd like a well-done white floral, don't miss trying it
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

I just picked this up, glad I found the edt b/c the edp was out of my price range that I wanted to spend. It's about 60 degrees here and I like this at first spray and then I can't decide if I like it or not lol - will give it a few days and see. This may go back ? :/

For sure I smell jasmine and then the other notes are hard to find and pin point... So far the silage is mild/moderate depending on how much sprayed and the longevity seems about 3 hours - boo but up close on the skin you can smell it faintly. I get the "fresh" comments, I do feel that at too but I also agree this is a heavier scent
EDIT 11/4/16 -- I returned it. I loved it on paper and the begging but on me this was too harsh, like a patch. (prob the "metallic" others mention) kinda harsh :/ I am thinking it's the cashmeran. I have CK Reveal and I like that (not the lotion tho yuck) but this wasn't great on longevity so back it went... I bought instead Angel EDT - we'll see how that one reacts to my skin chemistry

slavka.filipova

More wearable than EDP Alien witch i love so much, it is similar to some aqua chic version but like it anyway. I enjoy it when i wear it and i even get many compliments even i didn't expected, some of my coworkers even wanted spray and try it too. It's not very long lasting but enough for edt even more can say.

beautifulchaos

I was apprehensive to purchase Alien Edt because of the reviews and mentioning of a metallic note. Fortunately I came across a small bottle at a discount store and decided to try it out. Well, I agree with most of the other reviews...

Alien is the perfect name for this scent, as there is something outworldly about this fragrance. I can't quite put my finger on it but assume it's a mixture of the amber and cashmeran. White florals are prominent in the opening and drydown (jasmine and orange blossom). A citrusy note emerges after all the other notes have settled. It is soft, but there nonetheless. That is the best I can describe Alien Edt. Though I am happy I went with the edt rather than edp in this case. The Edt is described as softer and more wearable than the edp. However, even the edt has a strong alien essence and I am unsure if I could wear a more pronounced version. For the time being, I will categorize this scent as wearable until I have more time to examine it in all aspects. This will likely make my fall or winter rotation list due to the atypical formulation. It would make a good floral for a season other than spring. It lacks the freshness, sweet accords, and green notes of common spring scents.

FRAGRANCE REVIEW FOR ALIEN EDT BY THIERRY MUGLER

Top Notes: Mandarin Orange Citrus

Middle Notes: Jasmine White Flowers

Base Notes: Cashmeran Amber

I sigh with relief wearing this because it's such a breath of fresh air compared to the stifling aromatic punch in the nose that is the original Alien. This is nothing like it although there are bits and pieces, fragments, of Alien in the notes of jasmine and amber. This is basically Alien without the indolic jasmine dirtiness and the strong musk animalic notes. This is a softer sweeter fresher fruity floral version of Alien. It opens with refreshing sweet citrus. Then it becomes a white floral scent and finally dries to amber. Being an eau de toilette it's a weaker concentration and therefore short lived. I find myself reapplying throughout the day. This is not bad though. It's like the day time/casual version of Alien where as Alien is night time/formal equivalent. The same person who wears this and Alien can "change wardrobe" the same day. I really do prefer this to Alien but in no way do I knock Alien. It's such a masterpiece and always will be.

Sailor Pluto

Weird! As much as I adore the EDP, I really dislike this EDT! To me, the EDP is warm, sweet and comforting! However this EDT is sharp, has an aggressive perfumey smell and attacks your nostrils!

gugute

Having been a huge fan of Alien for years, I am sooooooo disappointed with the EDT, it breaks my heart. Previously worn Alien on special occasions and nights out and being able to smell it even the following day, I was very excited to purchase the EDT, the lighter version to wear through the day. I was hoping the scent would follow me around throughout the day as I find it so cozy and comfortable. Unfortunately, EDT is not only lighter, it has no lasting power on my skin or clothes at all. I spray it and it's gone within less than an hour. I would say on me EDT lasts for about 30 minutes and then it's gone without a trace. Very very disappointing.

Antares811

This is the perfect summer scent for Alien lovers.
This EDT is beautiful, much lighter than the EDP, the jasmine is less prominent, citrusy in the opening, with the same sweet, warm and spicy drydown.

ScarlettX

I think it's a nice white floral fragrance. A little sweet, a little ambery, not bitter or overpowering.
I would have nothing against wearing it as everyday scent.
It could also be worn on special occasions too, of course.
An elegant white floral, perfectly balanced.

amastara

The eau de toilette smells very similar to the perfume for obvious reasons, however there is a small dose of citrus, which adds a bit of freshness to this very pungent and daring scent. I'm defiantly a fan, though the original Alien is still my favorite. use sparingly.

emtopaz

Use to have this, it's intoxicating and the third perfume I fell in love with. Definitely shall get again one day once I compact down my collection. Amazing power for an eau de toilette and an alternative to Alien eau de parfum if you find that too much. This is a bit more fresh than the EDP but still woody/ambery.

nvenus

I like the Eau De Parfum more. There's definately a difference between them and I can tell them apart.

If I remember it right, this was more (white) floral.

katemax

when I first encountered this my sister in law walked in my house and I asked her if she was wearing Armani code. no, it was alien. it projected from her really well and suited her but since then I cant smell it without making the association. I don't dislike her but she is a one perfume woman so Ive not wanted to "steal" alien from her lol! I like it but seeing as it smells like Armani code to me, which I have I cant see myself buying it. also I often smell it on passers by in town

atiyeh

Usually people think that this perfume was purchased after the test, but I will give an impartial opinion, the fragrance is very bold, or love, or hate late, fast, fearless,
We Iranians have a saying that his cry is purple, the aroma is like screaming purple،I simply made to draw attention, not stroking the noseك

Carrieberry

Alien EDT is, as others have stated more wearable than the EDP. This is exactly what I have been looking for...the same extraterrestrial, sexy amber-jasmine...but this time the alien has adapted a bit more to life on earth. Yes it is a head turner... but it is less dominant and less strange. The Jasmine is much softer and more natural in the EDT. I would use this as a perfume for summer and spring nights. :)

Update:

Sadly this became almost undetectable after 2-3 hours...I don't know if it is my skin or the scent itself.

fragrantlove

On me it smells really lovely warm jasmine at first, and after about an hour like slightly old cookies...! I think I'll stay away from this one!

jacmac

Creamy white floral, bitter almond opening, slight playdoh smell leads to a plummy, fruity, juicy smell like red grapes and plums. I've heard it compared to grape koolaid and I totally smell that. Sweet. A bit "young" for me.

Deppaholic

I cannot take the EDP Alien. It just hates me so much, sigh :( However, EDT is very nice and I think I will snap myself a bottle up. It really is on me, more toned down and not watered down, but not as neon. It's very wearable. Yep, think I'll reach for this one next. Give my Chanel a break for a little while. If you can't wear the EDP, try this one. I think you'll find this one is quite friendly.

SoheePark

I absolutely hate the EDP but I do quite enjoy this one! Have a bunch of samples.

hot_tamalie

Just recieved this and it smells wonderful! It smells just like the edp just a toned down version which isn't a bad thing at all. It's currently 80 degrees right now where I'm at and projecting well on my skin so no need for the edp. When this runs out I may purchase the edp version of this for the fall. Officially #teamalien

24hours later and I can still smell this on my watch that I wore the day before. I love how Alien almost smells like grapes!

6/24/15
I've been wearing this to work for about a 2 months now and I continue to receive nothing but compliments and co-workers are always asking what am I wearing. This let's me know that even though it's the edt version it can still turn heads just as much as the edp version. I love them both tho :)

ialwayssmellgood

I love it! I must admit I love the EDP way more, but I will certainly settle for this until I can get it. The citrus is the only difference between EDT and EDP. Wonderful fragrance and can't wait to buy more!

ClaudiaA1

This one settles down way too fast for my taste. I get the citrusy opening, and then a blast of jasmine. One hour later, it's just jasmine and amber - so close to the skin that I can hardly smell it. Pity

dianacreole

I think this is beautiful. If this had Alien EDP sillage and longevity this would be a no brainer for me. It would be in top 10 for sure. I love original Alien. I think it's perfect. I also love this one too. I would like to wear Alien EDP in the morning and carry the EDT in my purse as day goes into night.

Radchick

Alien EDT is a big powdery white floral on me. In addition to the headlining jasmine, I detect quite a bit of orange blossom, which I assume has to be one of the white flowers in this. There is also a load of amber which lends a heavy powdery aura. Alien is one of those scents that if worn lightly, you can definitely wear it during the day and even to the office, but worn more heavily, it becomes an evening scent. I find this surprisingly simple for such a hyped scent – basically white flowers and powder, but well done nonetheless.

Arlene-Beatrix

What a nice scent! It is sensual, quite smooth, delicate, a bit floral, a bit woody. Wonderful blend of floral and woodsy notes, I would say.
If aliens truly smell like that, they can come to the Earth and they will be welcomed at my doorstep!

Update: I've tested it again and I really like it, but it is far too woody for me.

Synryo

This is the original Aliens shy sister; she's soft, light, and feminine where the original is bold and seductive. Though arguably this one is seductive too, in its own right. You can tell they're related, but the EDT manages to portray a different personality despite containing many of the same notes from the original. In this rendition they're toned down a bit and given a fresh, even sparkling twist. For those who find the EDP to be a bit much, or want an Alien for more subtle occasions, this is definitely worth a try.

canadianpetite

The Review box for Alien edp does not work so I'll compare both edp and edt here. Alien edp shows more jasmine and stronger amber and musk. There is something akin to bug spray in thick sweet oil that turns me away from edp yet I am compelled to sniff my wrist. I am intrigued but I would not wear it. Edp has strong sillage about two feet and leaves a trail. On me, after two hours, all that I detect is warmed massage oil with musk. Not much florals especially jasmine. My skin chemistry may be different than yours.

Edt has more citrus and more watered down amber and musk. I can see a division between supporters of edp and edt. Edt is more wearable in a conservative office. I would be more likely to wear edt but I feel the whole point of the uniqueness of Alien is lost if I don't choose edp. The bug-spray note though…no.

One spray on me:
Sillage: three feet with a trail
Longevity: three hours then soft one-foot sillage afterwards
Rating: 2/5 for edp, 3/5 for edt

Adiro

This is truly lovely! I never liked Alien edp, it is just suffocating and poisonous on my skin! Too much of everything, too popular, too "manmade" synthetics and dare I say too expensive, for what it is!
But the edt is so pretty, it's a very natural jasmine, it has a freshness that is not aldehydic but citrussy, , it has a sweetness that is not sacharine but honey, and a feminity that is both young and elegant at the same time! The sillage and lasting life are only moderate on me, but enough to take me through the day and make it sunny and happy!

Tanyaoxo

Love it. I love the edp of Alien but find it a bit too much to wear every day, to the office etc. This version is perfect, very similar but with added citrus and flowers, a little more feminine, classic in its own right. Love <3

Chloebelle95

Wow, this scent is very popular. I recently tried it and I realized I've smelled it on many people already. Anyway, the opening is like a burst of jasmine. It's a projection and sillage monster. I took a shower and it was still there after it. It's floral, sweet and powdery at the same time. It kind of reminds me of Ange ou Demon by Givenchy. They don't smell similar, but they have the same 'vibe' (or style, you know?). Chances are if you like one of them you'll probably like the other.

It's not my cup of tea though. I think it's just...too much. And it's powdery, so it really annoys me. Not for me.

Shivana

This is a stunningly beautiful fragrance. Pure creamy sweet floral on my skin.

I bought this EDT version of the fragance about two months ago, a small little bottle to sample before dipping in to buy a larger bottle.

This is a unique fragrance, with a strong signature note that I know I would recognise on anyone else wearing it. It is a truely beautiful fragrance. So... why don't I like it?

I have to thank this fragrance for teaching me a great lesson in what I love about perfumes.

I love complexity. I love a fragrance that tells a story through it's different notes.

As beautiful as it is, Alien EDT does not do this for me. After a hour or so, I just find myself wanting to smell something different.

If you love Jasmine, and love creamy and unique scents this one could be for you. It just lacks an evolution of subtle notes which I enjoy in wearing perfume.

magrathea17

simply HEAVENLY. jasmine is my all-time favourite note and this is a masterpiece in its simplicity combined with quality. what´s more - no vanilla! too good to be true
not sure if I can dare to go for EDP when I´m just 22, but I guess I´ll risk that :)

glassjules

Santa hubby bought me this fragrance and I am thrilled. I had the edp on my list originally, and then me and hubby went to smell the edt and both agreed it was a little lighter eight the citrus and retained the basic alien fragrance, I love it! My only complaint is that it is definitely not as long lasting as alien on me. So therefore, I need to get the alien edp as well don't you think?

Rux2589

I wouldn't say that Alien is incredibly unique, but it does have something that makes it very easy to recognize. Every other day I walk by a person wearing this perfume, it's like having fate screaming at me to buy it.

The EDT version has a surprising silage and staying power. Classy, slightly bitter. I think it's perfect for everyday wear and formal occasions alike, and at a reasonably good price.

samsara82

Dear readers ,
I wasn't enchanted by this so called "innovative" fragrance by Mugler. With a title that screamed brave and different, lets not forget a lot of money being put in for the advertisement in paper and on t.v that looked like a preview for a SCFI movie than a perfume, I figured why not go try this ?, and yes I did and my experience wasn't but "extraordinary " nor "out of this world" with the Alien invasion . The scent is rather common powdery sandalwood and musky vanilla, I could not capture the "unique" jasmine from the atlas mountains as the sales perfumer was informing me of its rich notes . For me the Alien has failed to thrill me with its so called exoticism and turned out to be a ordinary female perfume that can be confused with the cookie cutters scent that abound our fine department stores. For me this belongs in the category of perfumes that belongs to the trendy and fickle at heart types. Not worth your money if your seeking quality .

StellaDiverFlynn

Alien EDT and EDP smells quite alike as both have prominent jasmine. However, the amber in the EDT seems to be less heavy. I didn't get much acidity from citrus. But the the whole composition smells more green than EDP. EDT to my nose, smells more like a floral fragrance.

Both the sillage and the intensity are weaker than EDP, which is not necessarily a bad thing as EDP is really strong. The longevity is around 8 hours. Overall a sheerer Alien, a good alternative for those that find EDP too aggressive.

fllorre

I 100% agreee with genny17. To me, also, this is better than EDP, and surprisingly, it has the same lasting power on my skin. The drydown of EDT is softer and more intimate, as opposed to EDP, which is kind of loud, at least for me. I absolutely love Alien EDT, much better than EDP.

morphineblues

Okay this was dissapointing..
Don't get me wrong , it doesn't have a bad smell or anything.
I heard and read so much about this perfume and finally today i tested it.

It was jasmine, jasmine and more jasmine. Very strong jasmine. That's it.
After hours i could catch other notes too but jasmine was keep intervening, and not letting to enjoy other notes .
Even name and bottle doesn't match with the smell i believe. I was expecting something different, maybe little disturbing but not this..
I wouldn't spent money on this. I would go and buy much much more cheaper perfume which smell jasmine in other words exactly like this.

genny17

This is very nice, and to me nicer than EDP really, I find EDP a bit heady, the jasmine in EDT is pretty, rich, and mixes real nicely with the amber, this isn't heady but quite intense, very nice that it doesn't disappear after 20 mn also. A nice rich scent, that is still pretty, and unique.

sky74

This is absolutely HEAVEN, from start to finish. The beggining is beautiful jasmine which stays until the most amazing delicious amber in the drydown. Want it badly!

Aardwolf

Did anyone mention that it's quite loud? And quite sweet? Quite nice actually, but not for me. Perhaps for younger women, or for those who wish to be noticed primarily for their amazing looks... On my skin I smell fruit, especially berries, and vanilla. Am I such an amateur or are these notes really there?

Mollydelovely

My relationship with TM Alien began some years ago when I received a small sample of Alien EDP in a department store and I fell in love with this intriguing scent.

Alien has excellent longevity in both the EDP and EDT. On the initial spray of the EDT I get fresh citrus which develops into a warm salty/sweet scent. I would consider this to be a scent for all seasons due to the fresh citrus notes - perfect for summer and the warm amber which is ideal in the colder months.

I must admit that I'm struggling to love the EDT in the same way as the EDP. I need to accept the EDT on its own terms and give it the respect it deserves because it's a rather complex scent with true character.

djuzz.becuzz

I love this scent! It's so feminine! Beautiful white floral bouquet on a bed of woody notes. This is a fabulous fragrance! Too bad I only discovered it so late... shame on me! LOL
It's longevity and sillage are more than excellent for an edt!

**Please Note** This review is for Alien EdP in the deep purple bottle. For some strange reason I can't post my review in the right thread. So I decided to post it here under the EdT since they both are very alike.

************
Alien EdP
I am a bit late to this Alien party, every time I tested it I smelled something different but was never really feeling the *vibe* - sitting on the fence and never invested in a full bottle I was endlessly contemplating until three days ago, when the decision was made for me; I was gifted a big bottle of the original Alien, the wonderful bottle looking magical with its intriguingly shaped purple flacon complete with gold detailing and 'alien' writing. *Hmmm*

Hard to believe there are only so few notes in it, since on my chemistry and to my nose it has a lot of different faces. It is (among many other things) reminiscent of Lady Million minus the very sweet honey and spicy lemon. A more elegant Lady Million, I would say. A Lady Million for all those that like the core vibe of her, but shy away from some of her notes that can be disastrous on some chemistries.

I also get licorice and berries and--of course--wood notes...lots of woodsy notes that are bathing in a jasmine bath and use berries as a snack. Its odd I know! Perhaps that's why its called Alien? It can play just a few notes yet manages to create a multi faceted (scent) sound. And leaves you wondering how many other notes are REALLY hiding in this flacon, that looks like it was left by the mother-ship to tempt and tease us to pick it up and spread its many scent experiences over the galaxy of olfactory!

On me it's an elegant, smooth and woodsy scent with a jasmine bouquet and a berry & licorice vibe that is familiar yet still manages to be its own scent. Suitable for all occasions, even the office if you are careful not to apply too much! I still don't know if I would have purchased it myself, yet am wearing and enjoying it as an unexpected gift. Perhaps it will grow on me enough to assimilate me into the matrix of real fans, or perhaps I am too earthbound to ever feel like leaving Terra-Firma. In either case, it's fun and I am looking forward to smell what other olfactory surprises this Alien will reveal to me!

Silage is: space wood bathing in jasmine, grown on the Moon and eating berries from Mars. - Longevity is: suitable for a deep space mission: 6+ hours and still counting down.

If you're one of the few people that hasn't sampled this yet, go and take your nose to this mysterious flacon that will not be containing what you think.
Enjoy! : )

anna.dkr5

I love the EDP, especially the woody accord, so I was wondering if you can still smell that woody-smoky-incence-like aura in the EDT.

Can anyone help me, here? Thank you!

Chrisocd

A light, lovely scent, probably my favourite perfume to wear. The EDP was too strong for me especially in the opening and when initially sprayed on. For me Alien EDT provides a subtle, less is more kind of approach floral in my collection. It is lovely in the winter months, however I believe it is best worn in autumn. The scent is lively when first applied to dry down to a warm, comforting vanilla-amber. The end result is a close to your skin, relaxing fragrance as if flowers are gently caressing your body. It lasts for about 5-7 hours on my skin, longer on my wrists (8-10h) with moderate to low sillage. A very mature, alluring, and unusal scent overall.
9.0/10.0 If only It projected a little better. If Projection is what you're looking for the EDP is your better bet.

anna.glowacka

For me this is definitely not a perfume for winter or cold days. I get a lot jasmine and jasmine only. It's cold one almost give me freezing feeling. I tried to wear it couple of times during the winter but it just doesn't work. It's like i inhale jasmine ice scream scent. It's not soft and comforting perfume. It screams quite loud - look here i am. Then i tried it at my work (warm environment) and it was absolutely nice and very different which soft amber - woody edges. Just like Womanity it will be my early spring/summer fragrance. It last ages on me but it doesn't change from the first spray until the dry down. So not really complicated one for me but very noticeable.

hss93

it's a very good perfume but i its better to buy the EDP, i bought the EDT because i found that the EDP too strong was. It doesnt last on my skin i don't smell it

Deppaholic

I tried the EDP in the store, and somehow ended up with the EDT. I preferred the EdP more. Although they are similar, they do take different paths. Sadly though, I'm not loving this. It's nice, fresh and floral. Sorta like grape juice at first like the one reviewer said at first. But it really is a floral. On me it lasted long, about 5 hours and could still smell it on me in the morning. Very potent for an EDT. I can see how this works wonderful on some. I guess I'm stuck over there in the Guerlain Department. This is going up for auction. Bye bye Alien, it was nice to meet you. Parting isn't such a sweet sorrow with you. If you can try them both, one on each arm and you'll find them similar but also different. From the same family but they run in different crowds!

dina

I already have the edp and find it almost identical to the edt with only a single difference: some citrus on the top notes that fade away very quickly (edt).
If one day, for some reason, I won't be able to find the edp in my market, I would definitely buy this one though my first choice goes to the edp.

ColubineCola

GRAPE! DELICIOUS GRAPE!
That's almost all that I get from Alien eau de toilettebesides a slightly warm, vanilla note underneath and soft, white florals. First spritz is a delightful blast of grape soda. Almost mouth watering. I love it so much.

In mood

It's a nice citrus and jasmine perfume but the longevity is really bad in comparison with Alien EDP. After 2 hours it simply dissapears from my skin. However, it stays longer on my hair and clothes.

perfumequeen2

this scent is simply delicious, its a unique scent to me because i usually go for fruity, fruity floral, fruity gourmand, sweet scents.

was introduced to this perfume by my friend kaelan who suggested i try the edp version unfortunately the store only had the edt.

i am in love with this perfume, i get a calming effect, all the negative vibes just bounces off me when i am wearing this. so thank u kaelan.

JSC

I went to the store today specifically to try the alien edt...the edp is on my birthday wish list but I just wanted to make sure and try the edt out.

Well I am glad I did...it is sharp loses the almost creamness of the edp...loses the magic that is Alien...the edt is so not as special..missing some key elements.

I put it on about 2 hours ago...my wrist faintly smells..more floral..not like alien...crappy lasting power.

sladkij_chai

Going to re-edit this review. Alien is a love/hate relationship for me. I come in contact with a lot of people on day to day basis. With this said I smell a lot of this fragrance. I always end up asking the person what is it that they are wearing because the first 5 min of it are amazing..the next hour or more do cause me pain. Yes, the smell is fascinating, but there are just way too many people in my opinion wearing it. You are most likely to get a compliment but for the love of Goooddd don't over-spray it. Overall it is delish, but I am just too weak to take it :)

LaPetite

If I think that Angel EDT is not true to the spirit of Angel EDP , Alien EDT is true to Alien EDP's spirit !
It's just lighter and fresher , as expected for an EDT .
I really love it , it's a true tribute to Jasmine , one of my favorite notes ever .
It's a very elegant and mysterious scent and already a classic , like most Muglers !

siying.hong

I have previously added a review.

Now after using it for a few weeks and gathering enough observation, i have to say the the jasmine note is more and more prominent to my nose, which i am glad about.

That said, woody notes are still as prominent too. So all in all, it is a beautiful fusion of jasmine and woody notes. i think both complemented each other very well, that gives the scent depth and mystery.

To me, this is a sexy fragrance. not to the extent of dirty sexy but a classy women who is confident and sure of herself - that makes her sexy in her way. This scent is definitely for one who holds his/her head up, chest out.

In addition, i dun get the soft vanilla as the drydown anymore. the drydown to me would still the jasmine and woody notes, but more toned down.

jan17

An E.T unexpected and lovely, one of the pleasant surprises of perfumery in a deliciously soft version, Alien is an engaging and sensual scent, the bottom of the exit, Jasmine appears surprisingly, the amber kisses graciously skin, a long kiss, which remains on the skin noticeably but nothing that can harm, who feels not resist, and is not to be apathetic to this weird and wonderful!

Sabrina_A

Unique!

siying.hong

Just purchased this miniature yesterday in fear of not having a matching body chemistry that suits the scent. Anw i am happy (:
The fragrance opens with sharp woody notes. i dun get the citrus part. i think the initial part of the edgy phase.
then jasmine notes joins the woody ones and gave rise to a very mysterious and alluring scent. Many have saht that Alien is a true jasmine scent.
However, i have to really focus my mind to detect the jasmine notes. perhaps it is due to the presence of woody notes that make the jasmine notes not as prominent.
The drydown is a light, soft vanilla, in my opinion.

Really excited about this mini bottle of elixir. if my body proves that it has good body chemistry with the frag, i would def get Alien edp.
provided edp smells the same as edt. well anw, i gotta try that edp out too before i know. for now. i am really happy with my purchase!
Thanks Fragrantica for opening up my eyes to such beautiful scents.

I put my drinks up for Mugler.

İ am sooooooo sorry that this is one of the most popular scents. Everyone knows it even guys! İts so unfair. İ like it, yes, and i do recommend it if you like strong feminine scents.

Arodis

It is suitable for disco (in the best sense). Festive and feminine, but dynamic. Young, but not too much.

amywamywoo

Very pretty and unique!!

I own both the EDT and EDP, I can't pick which I prefer. I like them both equally.
This is citrus fresh Alien, much lighter and softer than the EDP. Think I'll probably wear this alot in summer.
Lasting power and sillage is very good, beautiful bottle too.

BritXOX

I used to strongly dislike it. I don't know if there was any other scent I hated as much at the time!

That all changed a couple weeks ago, when I came across Alien Aqua Chic, and I was amazed by the fact that I actually LIKED it!

So I ended up buying this, Alien EDT, because I was pleased with it. There is something that I can't explain yet. Right now, I can say that it's a strong, long lasting feminine scent!

I wear it in the morning and it lasts almost all day. During the day it comes a little softer. Very good longevity!

I can see now why people love it and I think we have another classic here, since it's on so many want-lists!

theprophetblog

I absolutely LOVE this!

It smells divine. It's an enticing floral with a unique twist.

I'm a guy, 24, and I took my female friend fragrance shopping with me. I don't like overly masculine scents, and I like to own a nice mixture of women's and men's fragrances. She didn't think this was too feminine for me, and I agree. I think men can get away with wearing this. I opted for the toilette because I was afraid that the parume might be too heavy and floral for a guy, but I love this so much that I think I might try the EDP when my EDT runs out.

This is definitely my new favorite fragrance! Just wish it lasted longer though :( The lastability is quite poor in my opinion, but the scent is to die for.

nicesmell66

Love,love,love!
I already have Angel Innocent as one of my favorite fall/winter perfumes, but wanted to find one from the Thierry Mugler line that I also could use during the summer.
I received a sample, Alien Edp, but felt it was somewhat too heavy/strong for my taste. After reading some of the reviews, I decided to order the Edt and I'm so glad I did.
Yes, it is very similar to Alien Edp, but in my opinion so even nicer: much softer but still beautiful. I love the Jasmine, that is a little lighter than in the Edp. The drydown is nothing but wonderful: very feminine, a little bit dry/woody and even more soft/sweet and "ambery".
If I have to find something that is not PERFECT, I'd have to say that the Edp has better lasting power, but that is often to be expected from an Edp.
I have only had this INCREDIBLE perfume for one single day, but I am truly impressed. Reading the positive reviews, made me have high expectations. Granted, the Edp version is strong and beautiful and does demand attention, but the Edt deserves equal credit i think. Dressed up, ready for a party, I would just spritz a little more generously.
Yes, I have found another favorite. I am very pleased and if nothing else, I smell really, really great!!:)

tosu

My big love is Alien EDP but i must say that i love this one to, it still has the jasmine i love but softer and lighter than the EDP. I also smell moore Wood and fresh citruses in the edt.
For me it's a lighter, fresher moore summerlike Alien, but still just wounderful

Norgirl

This is a truly mood lifter . so bright happy , clean . this is a lighter take to the edp . i little more woody, a little brighter . The mysteri i feal when i wear Edp isent as prominant in this . this is more off a day time scent. Summer take if youd like.
I love this so much , I cant realy pick a fav off the edt and edp. they are different , but just as lovely the bouth off them
I would add that the body lotion Alien is tuly a masterpice aswell last all day long on my skin..
This perfume to me is somthing you can wear at any time .and you will get compliments one it . so so special and beautiful

If i am to put a picture on the different take off this edp and edt . i would say that edp is a mysterios queen . a strong woman whit a big warm and loving aura. a bit off a temptres . shure off here self and the power she has.. a

The princess is edt . A smiling young genouros lady. whit a big heart. happy , joyfull and giving. not as shy and mysterios as the queen . but still just as beautiful and loved :)

caydesugar

yay! i finally got a chance to try this 'fume out! i was a bit scared to try it out at first though because i thought i'd hate the scent but i just couldn't resist the lovely bottle! and my, i'm really glad i tried this! it smells divine! i'm not good at picking up scents (hopefully i'll get better in time!) but i definitely don't smell any dirt?? it's just wonderful :)

i don't think it's that unique but it's a nice scent :)

katemcq

There is something slightly intense and exciting about this one. At first, I didn't even like it: powdery and metallic/dirty, and a bit itchy to the nose. But luckily I gave it a second try and in a short time, the warm, cozy amber and citrus bloomed, and little breezes of the florals came out. Really nice!

its a beautiful wonderful frangance, much better and klassier as original Alien, which is too heavy and too sweet with too much jasmin. It smells of white flowers, a bit of jasmin and even vanilla? Mmmmm, very delicious and sexy.

I've been wearing this fragrance for nearly a month now and my love for it keeps growing.
I can detect the notes very clearly now.
At first, I get this huge blast of sweet, dry, sharp jasmine. Some time later the citrusses join the game, softening the sharpness of the jasmine.
After an hour or so ALIEN EDT becomes very woody. To my nose it smells like the stump of a cut down tree bathing in sunlight.
It really smells like sunlit, somehow caramelized wood. I did not even know this specific scent existed, but that is exactly what I smell.
In the final stages there is soft amber and sweet, buttery vanilla. Very skinlike and gentle.

I no longer think this fragrance is alien. It smells like no other fragrance I have ever smelled, so in that way it might be alien. But if it did come from another planet, it would be from an exact copy of our Earth.

ALIEN EDT smells like summer. It is such a joyful fragrance. Not exactly happy, but majesticly joyful.
It's summer, but not a "beach-like" summer, nor a summer's eve.
No, ALIEN EDT smells like the countryside (but without the farms and animals and manure) during an incredibly hot day.
Dry hay and wood, together with some green freshness, it makes me long for summer.
The only sad thing is that wearing this during such a hot day would probably kill anyone within a five mile radius.

When I first heard the name ALIEN, I pictured the kind of aliens with advanced technology and worlds full of steel and robots. So I thought ALIEN might smell of metal, chemicals and interstellar dust (whatever that might smell like). Then I saw the notes and I figured it might be something very synthetic, but still very nice, judging by the reviews.

Today I finally got a chance to test it.
The aliens of metal and wheels transformed into the most serene, peaceful and close-to-nature creatures I ever imagined. They are simple beings. They have advanced technology, but they know how important trees and nature are for life and use their technology to make nature prosper. Their world is a green one.

To me, ALIEN smells like patchouli would smell on this alien planet. It somehow feels like patchouli, without actually smelling like it. It's very dry, but every now and then I get a whiff of fresh-creamy jasmin.

It's what fantasy elves would smell like. The blond Tolkien kind, not the ones with wings. Ethereal, but still down to earth.

ALIEN is a dreamy fragrance (and I don't mean innocent dreams of romance, but dreams of other worlds, other possibilities, greater powers). I can't put its beauty in words.
I can't even detect seperate notes. I can only say that I think the EDP and EDT are quite alike, though the EDP is way stronger and slightly sharper and greener. The EDT is creamier and disappears quicker.

Though I do realize that the brilliance of creating an amazingly complex fragrance with only three notes is lost here and I have to admit, the final stages of the EDP drydown are absolutely magnificent, I still prefer the EDT (that's why I wrote this review in the section for the EDT, in stead of underneath the original).
The EDP drydown is creamy and sweet and just to die for, but I can't wear a fragrance for its drydown, when I think the opening is too sharp to wear on a daily basis.
The EDT is lighter, fresher and not as sharp in the opening as the EDP (not as magnificent in the drydown either, sadly). And it's a lot cheaper as well (wich is quite important, considering the fact that I am going to wear this a lot, and I will probably want a second and a third bottle).

By the way, I LOVE Thierry Mugler for his approach to parfume packaging and bathlines.
He is one of the only designers who has included deodorant roll-ons in his bathline (which, by the way, smells amazing too, of jasmine, honey and wood).

Ah Mr. Mugler, thank you for this gem you brought back from your mental journeys through space.

I really didn't expect to like this one, but it's amazing! I find it hard to describe the scent but its so ethereal & mysterious.

It's a very strong, intense jasmine but with a kind of sweetness behind it, where the EDP is creamy, this is a bit fresher with a little citrusy twist. Intoxicating and addictive.

The sillage and longevity are excellent (so apply sparingly)

I absolutely adore this scent, I think it's now one of my favourites.

LydiaLiu

The original EDP is way too heavy for me. But I found this EDT much lighter and wearable. There is still a strongly powdery opening but I like the citrus notes in this one. The middle and dry down are mild flowers and amber, where the powdery notes are almost gone. Sprayed on my hair, there is a hit of vanilla at the end. Lasting is good, I can smell it the second day when I wash my hair.

This one, or I would say the Alien series, or I say all the TM's release is not popular in my area. Generally, I mean generally they are too bold and too cutting-edge for Asian pepole to enjoy. I've used out a bottle of 30ml, I think I may not repurchase.

mmmmsamy

I bought a mini version of this and it was love at first sniff. This smells beeeauuutiful! The jasmine and white flowers are balanced so nicely. I was worried that Alien might be too overpowering but it is just lovely.

raquelcosta

i think i'm gonna buy it

the fragance is beautiful....and it has very good sillage and longevity.
i only sprayed at my wrists and my husband was still feeling it on me after 3-4h (the day was extremely hot). i washed my wrists with soap and the fragance was still there.

the only reason i'm not quite sure on buying it, is because i got a horrible headache the same day i tried the perfume.

i'm pretty sure the headache has nothing to do with alien (i forgot to take my medicine on time) but i'll have to try again on another day to feel sure on buying it.

TillyWave_archive

I became obsessed with trying this perfume. You know how that happens? Something snags your attention, a bottle, a review, a trail of scent in the air. So finally I got a bottle of the EDT. (I've never tried the EDP.)

Truthfully at first, I was like, "Why would someone want to wear something named ALIEN??" Kind of how I outright object to anything that has the word "juicy" in it. But now I find there is something compelling about the whole thing, and I adore the little 1 ounce Alien that houses the juice. Tho the blond ethreal models are the antithesis of myself, who is all shades of dark colors.

I actually find this to be a simple fragrance, and the whole 'purple' concept is so stamped in my mind that ALIEN EDT reminds me of rich purple flowers, rather than heady sweet white flowers. ALIEN is mostly a rich floral, with a hint of amber underneath and a bit of orange in the top notes. The only wood notes I detect are those of the abstract variety.

Two sprays is enough to last for hours, and the sillage is pretty good. Actually I wore this to work the other day (which I won't do again--this is a bit too much to wear to a workplace like mine) and myself and a coworker were taking xrays on a shih tzu. I was holding the dog, and she remarked, "You know this dog's feet never touch the ground, because he just smells like fancy people hold him all day. He smells like rich perfume."

I just smiled, and didn't suggest that it was probably me that was wearing the 'rich perfume.' But it was a nice comment noneless.

So, Alient EDT--good enough for shih tzus held by rich, fancy people.

A softer and lighter version of the original, freshen up with imperceptible citrus notes, they presence is felt only because they bring down the strong notes of jasmine and woods so characteristic at original Alien. Maybe appropriate for those who cannot stand the jasmine blast of original Alien, or prefer a lighter summer version. Although, it is not like a summer version because those summer flankers have more distinguished notes of fruits and others flowers at their composition. In this composition, they are there to soften the all composition, not to make a statement. It is more a diluted Alien. The staying power does not equal is processor, fades away after a few hours, on skin (on clothes, it persists). I Love the original and all his summer flankers. This one, I only do not like the staying power, it vanishes in the air. But, the smell is an adorable version of my precious Alien.

Blessed

just unique and creative
7.5/10

tiffanykimwagner

I can smell musk in the dry down, but it is not listed as one of the note?? Could I be wrong about my smell senses??

tiffanykimwagner

This smells exactly like the EDP and it lasts just as long..

VioletDark

I tried this out at the Mall when you spary it smells great but as it dries I got a vapor like smell on my skin? WAY to Alien for me but, the staying power is good. It is a very unique perfume!

Hamano_Chiaki

I absolutely love it in the beginning and in the middle. But after about 3-4 hours i think it smells almost like a fur of some animal on me, maybe it's the combination of amber and cashmeran... I prefer spaying it on my clothes when the top and middle notes last longer.

kristina_vili

I like it,but I won`t buy it.It`s too comersial,EDP version too and also the price is high for me.But that is my opinion, that doesn`t change the fact that this parfum is actually really great and the bottle is very beautiful.Alien EDT has great staying power on me,I can smell it all day long.

Scentaholic

I am madly in love with the EDP version but this one is quite wonderful too! I would say that this is only somewhat "lighter" than the EDP. It packs a punch for an EDT but would be a better choice for the spring and summer months because of the citrus notes in it! Just a FEW sprays!

***An even better choice for spring and summer would be the Alien Sunessence EDT Legere! That one is very lemony and delicious.

melimelo

this perfume mark it's own personality in perfume history

ameeba

For me this perfume works best when I wear it on my hair! On my skin all I get is a little bit of jasmine and a very heavy amber and that weird cashmeran note that makes me wanna wash it away.

However, on my hair the citrusy, jasmine and white flower notes won't disappear instantly. The amber and cashmeran are there too but not as overwhelming as on my skin.

marad

What's that?! Is it a magic elixir?! Long story with that fragrance: first time I smelled it on a friend and I was amazed by its intense and wonderful smell. When I tested it on my skin it felt like headache. Then once again I asked another friend what her wonderful perfum was and she confessed it was ''alien''. I thought it was a winter fragrance but not suitable for me. Finally, this summer on a very hot day I smelled it on a third friend and I realized that I have to buy it finally. And here it is but I only spay it once or twice!!! I love it!

Undoubtedly Thierry Mugler has accomplished great success in perfume industry. Love it or hate it discussions dwelled around Angel and Alien are endless.
I personally dislike them both. Big time.

Out of space EDT invader in light purple suit is definitely more wearable than original. For that are deserved beautiful opening mandarin notes which differ it from original heavy construction. And though EDT dives in middle and base notes similar to EDP, manages to keep airy floral breath and gentle musky base.

Strength and longevity of this woody floral EDT edition are remarkable. Think it would be nice spring/ autumn choice for those who like Euphoria, Code or Insolence. Not bad.

missk

This fragrance is obviously a lighter and fresher version of Alien. It is far more wearable in the warmer months than the original and it has a little more sweetness in my opinion.

The jasmine in Alien EDT is almost watery, whereas the EDP was much richer and more floral. I can't detect the citrus opening in the EDT either, however the mandarin orange, which is the only fruit I can smell in Alien EDT, tends to be subtle and sweet.

For some people they'll find this version of Alien much more wearable. In all honesty I agree, however I ultimately prefer the original because it seems to have more character and uniqueness.

The amber in the drydown is very soft. The overall impression I found was that Alien EDT was intended to be more feminine and inoffensive, in other words, more appealing to those that disliked the original Alien.

The lasting strength is moderate, lasting around four to five hours on the skin. I do recommend this fragrance, however if you own and love the original Alien, I don't see the point in purchasing the EDT too.

COSMICSCENTS

It smells exactly the same just a little bit lighter but it still stays on for a very long time, I barely sprayed it on top of my hand and I washed my hands later on when I got home and I can still smell it.

charlottesmom

*HATE* the EDT...~LOVE~ the EDP.

a.k.a.warum

Thanks to dear c3c, I have a chance to compare side by side EDP and EDT versions of Alien.

It starts with an interesting and pleasing combination of jasmine and orange. An unlikely combination, perhaps, but a very nice one. Later it becomes jasmine, somewhat sweet, a tad ambery, and it stays that way for at least 4 hours -- a nice staying power for EDT given that I dabbed pretty lightly!

Alien EDT is Alien's EDP little sister, just as it should be. EDT is perfect for daytime wear since it's lighter than EDP and is not as sweet. I like them both. I can see that someone would find EDT more wearable than EDP. I love EDP, but I like EDT as well. It is the same quality sweet ambery jasmine.

epiano

It smells like mothballs on my skin. It just doesn't work for me, it's very overpowering, and it's all I can think of as soon as I apply:(. Beautiful bottle though!

luz

Similar to the original one. The edp is a masterpiece, but I prefer this one... it is more wearable.
