It’s beautiful..prefer it over satin mood.

heirnul

All time favorite. Have been debating making it my signature even though its not really versatile enough for that.
To me this smells like sitting on my Tia's bed as she oils my hair. A very silky smooth rose.
I put it on following my after work shower and wake up the next morning still smelling it.

leatherorrisviolet

Put this on one arm and the Extrait version on another arm. The differences are stark. The EDP is a chamomile bomb, so much so that it actually has similarities to Gucci Memoire d’un Odeur which is known for being a tea-forward fragrance. The Extrait on the other hand is very heavy on rose oil in particular. It’s more of a traditional middle eastern rose and oud. Very potent. Both are great and are easily different enough from each other to justify owning both

stakasaki

Airy, delicate rose quickly becomes overpowered by an intense metallic hair toner scent with undertones of bitter dark chocolate. I find this to be unbearably disgusting, and it seems to get worse and worse as the hours go by. Eventually I found myself trying to scrub it out of my skin with soap, but it just would not come out for almost an entire day.

Smells like detergent

wackasmore

actually smells like hair dye.
its very light and elegant indeed but snells like hair dye

RGH01

Everyone talks about Satin Mood, but where’s the love for Silk Mood? For me, it’s easily the superior out of the two. It takes that classic rose-oud combination and twists it into a bright, airy and refreshing daily wear which is easily signature scent worthy.

The rose is very gentle and airy, sweet and dense and yet never becomes overpowering despite dominating the scent profile. The oud is gentle and subtle, the synthetic accord joining guaiac wood in a very smooth manner. Hedione is what makes this scent so addictive, the fresh white floral aspect is incredibly diffusive and gives you that clean linen feel which compliments the somewhat darker notes perfectly.

I’m not usually a huge lover of MFK, and even here I don’t think the quality of materials is massively impressive, but I can’t deny that this scent simply smells damn good. It’s nothing flashy or revolutionary, but it’s such a satisfying wear.

hayali

Strange, this reminds me to the smell of the hair dye.

Lukasssss

Medicinal, floral, woody, green. Reminds me a bit of the original Oud but this is less smooth and smells a little bit like pastel or some water color. The rose note is very apparent. The only things I like with this fragrance lies within its similarities with Oud, which is my favorite from the line. This is not really my vibe to be honest. 5/10.

alphairone

I can't say that I am moved by this clamorous rose oud. It may have been more novel and exciting several years ago, but today it comes off as a passé luxury cliché like oversized statement sunglasses or upscale fro-yo shops. I am not one to ever generally say this as I am a huge vintage perfume fiend and can find timelessness and in almost any fragrance, but this somehow smells—dated, in 2024.

Dated as in I am over it, so over it. So over the combo of rose with a Givaudan/IFF/Symrise/fill-in-the-blank screechy, medicinal, sharp, burning electronics, cheese smudge oud. Over it. Kaput. The end. Finis.

I'll revisit it in ten years.

Ferg1

Finally got this one and honestly, Francis nailed it with the Oud line, one better than the other, they're all so good and different enough to have them all in my opinion. This is a powdery rose-oud combo without vanilla but it still has this sweetness which makes it elegant and sexy.

I don't like the Extrait because it lacks the smothness that edp has, found the Extrait harsh, dry and too herbal. They're really different from each other.

I'm wearing this edp today and tbh it's heavenly and it projects very well for hours, i can constantly smell it which surprises me because i wasn't expecting it to be that strong.

Edit : This thing keeps performing on me after 7 hours and god knows my skin swallows every fragrance for breakkfast.

Loulou103

Not my first choice I personally prefer Silk Mood but my God I get so many compliments when I wear this. It's strong so actually OK value for money as 1 or 2 sprays max will last for the day, night and even into the next day.

Have been told it leaves an insence trail. I have had people follow me asking what fragrance I'm wearing and that rarely has happened with any other perfume.

LEM922

Now. If you know, you know i am NOT an oud girlie. But everyone online kept INSISTING that I need to try a high quality oud perfume, because they swore up and down it was different. I decided to branch out and get a sample of this. And honestly? I’m a little blown away. I’m also VERY picky when it comes to rose fragrances, so getting this was kind of a shot in the dark (I got a sample, I didn’t blind buy, dont worry 😂) and while i WILL say this definitely gives vintage rose vibes… like a more mature rose, there’s nothing youthful about this perfume, it smells really good. The oud is definitely there. But it’s NOT super strong. The opening is mostly rose and chamomile, and you can smell a touch of the oud and papyrus sitting underneath. I could see how some people would say this smells “old lady”, but honestly, I think there’s a difference between old lady smells that smell elegant and mature and old lady smells that STINK. This one is the former, not the latter. Wow, I’m definitely going to have my grandma smell this (she loves rose), but I’ll be keeping my sample for myself. VERY pleasantly surprised at this. I’ll have to try oud satin mood next.

Edit: for any ladies who want this to be a little smoother or sweeter, layer it with vanilla 28. It’s so good!

AngelsInAmerica

Great longevity and spicy and sweet, for I like this as a nighttime fragrance because I couldn’t see myself doing day time activities with this scent. I like this scent if I’m going to a restaurant, a ballet, or dinner party outside.

PatrickMezo

Gods of All Perfume Damn this thing is just IT for me. Silky, smooth, rich, layered, scrumptious. It lives on skin but also surrounds you in a beautiful balance. I genuinely think it does not have a season or time of a day or night, no location that it belongs to. I wear it whenever I want and it exudes a calm, expansive confidence that does not need to be loud. It's sexy and sensual. Excellent.

cwavah

OK scent , still get that Rose , Oud nothing so unique

Hesssa21

More elegant, classy, refined version of oud satin mood. I would buy this if the rose and oud were more prominent, especially the oud. It's nice but it's not a love. I definitely appreciate this perfume but there are similar formulations out there that I just prefer more than this. For this whole line in general, the oud is barely detectable if even that but they are still great perfumes regardless of this. I do prefer oud satin mood in the sense that the rose is more apparent but I think that's the only thing I like more in it. Perhaps oud silk mood is also a bit more fresh/white floral whereas I find satin mood to wear a lot more sensual on me. I also find silk mood to have a musky quality about it which I love. They're both nice in their own way.

This one leans a bit more masculine than oud satin mood since it lacks sweetness.

nepria

Not gonna lie, I am more of a Satin Mood girl. I have to be in a certain mood for Silk Mood as I find it more complex and to appreciate Silk Mood I think you have to be not a beginner in niche perfumery world. But Silk Mood is a truly beautiful scent. It is so refined a bit more upper classy than Satin Mood. If Satin Mood is a red rose, here - Silk Mood - is a deep burgundy, almost black rose. It requires a certain attire, respect, and attention. The rose note here is opulent and at the peak of her blooming state - deep, dark, and enchanting. it is as if you almost enter a dark forest full of dark blooming roses, it is nightime and the full moon is shining, that's how surreal, and mysterious this perfume is.
Some people say that rose and oud combo is getting boring and what not, but with this perfume it just does not get out of style. I came back to his perfume after a while and now I truly can appreciate it. If you like to wear all-black clothing I definitely recommend you to try this.

AUyliong

I've smelt cheap synthetic roses before, I've smelt high quality natural roses before but never have I smelled a rose so sensual and silky. It almost doesn't smell like rose which makes it pretty unisex in my book. I can smell the bergamot in the background too doing its bit to support the rose and give it some otherworldly tang.

I think this and 724 are my favorites from Maison Kurdijian so far. BR540 never did anything for me but this and 724 do.

xorosexo

Love this scent SO much.

My mom worked for Bloomingdale's when I was growing up, so I have a lot of scent memories from that mid-to-late-90's era and this brings me right back to the men's suits department she worked in. To be clear, I mean this as a compliment! This reads classy, sexy, confident, put together, all the things I love. Not something I'd personally reach for but would love to smell this on my partner.

Laurentiu20

Easier to wear than Extrait because it's a little sweeter and powdery.
I get more rose in this and powdery notes and the oud is more in the background

The chamomile note is used in lower proportions than in extrait which is good, because in Extrait it gives me a pee vibe.

This is more like the drydown of other version.

Very good performance, not as beastly as the original.

chyan

I don’t think I have really 100% connected to an MFK scent so far but they are all super smooth and clean, expensive, nothing harsh or cheap. They also tend to feel “safe” - there’s not a lot of edge to them at all, nothing out of place in them except for my own small personal quarrels with the way that notes are presented and perhaps with notes I don’t like. They all smell good even if I don’t want to wear them.

I am not a huge Oud lover but with this one I find myself wanting way more Oud and much less rose. I hardly smell any Oud. I don’t want skank but I want to at least smell it and while the rose doesn’t smell bad it is a bit overpowering. It is a very dry, spicy rose with no sweetness or freshness, kind of like a freshly opened bag of dried rose petals. This is why perhaps people are saying it smells mature. It lasts for quite a long time. One spray on the wrist and next 12 + hours of wear.

Could see this being a signature for someone who loves Bulgarian rose.

Editing this 2 months later to say that I've been wearing my travel size this quite a bit since I left my review, so clearly I have connected to it. So much that I am thinking of a bottle. I've grown to appreciate the spiciness of the rose and the oud is there, it's just very subtle and blended to perfection. Would love trying the extrait but I cannot find a sample. Also, since everyone is weighing in on this, they are two very different fragrances but I find Oud Satin Mood sickly sweet and synthetic and I cannot stand it.

romanoff1701

Smells to me like a powdery rose that comes with a slight spiciness. For my taste feminine and old-fashioned. I would not like to smell like that.

I can't see any particular quality here, the whole thing seems clumsy and smells like an ordinary designer fragrance on the synthetic side.

wstark93

I bought this blind going off of the reviews and my general love of oud. I have previously owned Santal Royal and Oud Noir, so I expected to enjoy this one. I hate to say this, but as a college age man my first thought after putting it on was "old woman". Sometimes people say that about other fragrances and I think it's harsh, but in this case it was so sweet and floral it was overwhelming. Washing it off my arm did nothing to remove it and the scent stayed on me all day, which is good news for those of you who like it. I don't necessarily disagree with women who like it, but for men I think it just doesn't work. I often wear unisex and even more feminine fragrances but this one is far too sweet in my opinion. For men, 2/10. For women, I'd give a more generous 6/10.

Toni-Tony-Tone

I'm going to have to pray over this one. Another blind buy potentially gone wrong. I was able to get this at a steal, so I jumped on it BUT this is the most unusual scent. I definitely didn't like it at first spray, but I'm going to continue to test it over the next few days to see if I can get on board. This is my first oud, so maybe I don't like ouds... This reminds me of hot herbal tea that you drink to relieve a sore throat with a bit of a menthol thrown in. My husband sniffed this one, and he did not get the tea feeling, but he also couldn't really put his finger on what this smelled like. He didn't say he didn't like it, but like me, he just doesn't know what to think. This one surely isn't my instinctual love. The smell is just so different from any other perfume I have experienced. Is that a good thing? Jury is still out. But, I would NOT NOT NOT recommend blind buying this... oh, and where is the rose??? That note continues to elude me.

Edit: Day 2 - I’m starting to warm to the oud a little. I’m getting more accustomed to the scent, but it’s still a strange one in my opinion. Not super long-lasting, but I think this one will have its place and time to shine. We shall see.

TulipSnake

Very strong burnt chamomile.
I don't have anything more to say about this.

amgenus2015

This comes off as a very strong perfume on me. I can see how some might call it nature or sexy, but the sillage is overwhelming given the fragrance’s strength. I get a strong herbal wood but not a fresh green or floral scent.

ledavis727

I honestly don’t know why this perfume isn’t talked about more!!
It’s so smooth and slightly fresh, but deep and sexy at the same time. I can see myself reaching for this over and over in the colder weather.
I had a sample of this and Oud Satin Mood to try after everyone and their mother hyped Satin Mood beyond belief. Satin Mood was a huge, powdery, sweet vanilla-oud-rose monster. It wasn’t bad, it was a well-blended fragrance, but it just wasn’t for me. Silk Mood, however, has no powder, a more delicate green rose, and a beautiful fresh herbal sweetness from the chamomile. It’s almost like a comforting warm hug, but it’s from a really polished, dressed-up person. It’s hard to describe; when I’m wearing this I definitely mean business, but the “seriousness” of the deep Oud is counterbalanced perfectly by the herbal floral bouquet which keeps this perfume from wandering in to overtly spicy, woody territory.
This perfume has no sharp edges, but no fluffy ones either. “Silk” describes it perfectly. It flows across your skin as smooth as silk.

CappSure

I didn’t grow up around Oud. I didn’t smell it on my father. I don’t know it’s history in perfumes. But I’ve sampled maybe 9 or 10 other Oud fragrances and this is the first one I absolutely love without reservations. I feel it just is so friendly and so smooth and inviting and sensual. It’s the first Oud I’ve thought is 100% not confined to a gender or age group. Just so wonderful. I think many in my age group and background will find this to be quite a more pleasant Oud than they are used to smelling. I’m a 25 yr old white male. Not many of my peers will touch Oud, but finally I feel like I have one that works beautifully with my skin and aura.

Pgdipoto

This is lovely. I don't understand the obsession around Oud Satin Mood and the "eh" attitude for this one by so many people. Not that Satin is bad. Satin is much more wet, jammy. This one smells more clean, fresh. The oud is very nice, and I love the way it's balanced with the florals and citrus and green. It just is a nice, clean oud fragrance that reminds me of the vibe of Silver Oud or Sahraa Oud or Oud Vert or Oud Bleu. All different fragrances of course, but this has that same kind of clean, crisp, fresh oud feel, with more floral notes. Lovely! 28M American here btw, if you care to hear where this opinion is coming from.

Perfumed4life

I really love this perfume. Yes it is rose oud combination, but the camomile give it an edge, and it smells so elegant and classy. I tested a sample of satin mood, and really wanted to love it. On my skin it was waaaay too powdery. In fact I smelled nothing of the magic that everyone was talking about. It just smelled like a makeup palette or a nice smelling powder. I was so sad that it didn’t work for me as I absolutely love rose oud in most formulations. I went to my local mall where I tried MFK oud edp and MFK silk mood edp, and went home with a bottle of silk mood. On my skin it was not powdery. Instead it smelled like an actual perfume, a very elegant and classy perfume. Perfumes can be very tricky, because your body chemistry can drastically change how a perfume smells. Always try a sample first. Oud rose combo has been done before I know. But for someone like me who loves that combination, it’s worth getting a few variations and strengths to suit different occasions. So to me silk mood is a love!

JoyousOne

I love Baccarat Rouge 540 sooooo much that I figured like everything by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Ha! That was a lie. I didn't lie oud before BR 540, and I dont like it when MFK does it either. This isnt as bad as oud typically is, but I still had to pass on it. I asked my 19 yr old what he thought too. He didn't like it either.

xavi617

This isn’t my favorite MFK fragrance. I was very excited when I saw it was an Oud , but seems a little lost as if it can’t decide whether it wants to be an Oud or not.

Gaz4

Very nice, but if you want to save yourself some cheddar, buy Loubon by Montale ($65 on grey market). 95% similar.

peter94

I am not impressed by this, Satin mood is far better, more loud and unique. Silk mood is thin and elegant

elight_l

Smells exactly like S.T. Dupont Noir probably a bit stronger and longer lasting.

lmnsvgz

A bad mix of chamomile, oud and rose. Leans masculine.

Shikin27

Growing up, my dad was a fragrance addict. He use to have a lot of expensive perfumes. He still loves perfume but not as aggressively as when he was younger. He left us when I was 8 but when he was with us he would choke us every morning with his perfume ritual before leaving for work. And this smells just like one of those perfume he used. This triggered memories. But not to say this is bad. This smells very elegant but dated.

oblyth

Has a really unpleasant open and really doesn't fade down very fast. "A slap to the face" is a good description.

montgomery99

Notes listed above are lacking the obvious citrus up top (Net-A-Porter lists this as Italian Bergamot, sure.) This opens, as others have mentioned, like a slap to the face. Ammonia like, sharp, and pungent rose. The rose smells like the greatest quality rose water, overtop green, medicinal oud. This is much nicer in the air than directly on the skin, and is a more masculine leaning rose--if you believe perfume can be gendered, that is. I think it's more versatile than either the extrait (which came first, btw) and Oud Satin Mood, which is very dense and heavy. If you like big roses, and are familiar with the more medicinal and slightly acrid facets of oud, you'll like this one--but for the price, it is nothing groundbreaking.

Jazz10!

This fragrance is a dry woody, clean perfume.
If you’re a woman into unisex perfumes, note that MFK Oud Silk Mood is more masculine than Oud Satin Mood.

LibraryofPerfumes

I like Rose-oud combos (Rose Anonyme EXTRAIT, l'autre oud, emeraude agar), but Oud Silk Mood is a bit harsh, too powdery and vintage-y for me. Upon application, I literally have to wait for 15-20 min before I can bear to smell it. It's not bad, it's just not my type. I prefer Oud Satin mood to this. I have a dry oil and I enjoy wearing the gourmande goodness to bed.

Fountain30

Performance is off the charts and this can be smelt by someone in the next room.
Scent is an earthy, dry rose oud combo
It is elevated
It is elegant

I have no idea why FK made an extrait for this, it does not need one.

sunshine0101

I am currently on the hunt for a special fragrance for a special occasion. I am a firm believer of wearing something (fragrance) brand new for a special day; this way when you wear that fragrance in the future, it will always remind you of that day.
My wedding perfume was Black Perfecto by La Petite Robe Noire - Guerlain. Although it is not my most fav scent, but whenever I wear it, it reminds me of my wedding day. And most importantly, my husband likes it.

As a result of this hunt, I have a lot of perfumes shortlisted, and I am slowly trying to short list those fragrances that I will wear on the special occasion.

In saying so, I was back and forth between MFK’s Silk, satin and oud. Watching different reviews and never clearly being able to make my mind which to settle for. I finally went to shop today and tried all 3 side by side. The one that called out to me the most was Silk. Second fav was oud mood. I immediately purchased silk, before I changed my mind. Now, as I was in shop I tried manyyy other fragrances (like you do) from Dyptique, Frederik Malle, Replica, Le Labo and ended up spraying a lot of those on diff parts of my clothes. After making my purchase of MFK Silk Mood and Replica’s when the rain stops, I headed back to work. After a long day when I came home and sat down, I kept smelling something interesting on me from somewhere. I kept thinking it might be Magnolia by Frederick Malle because I really liked it, or something else that I might have tried, but whatever it was, it was amazing and magical.

After I couldn’t wait for 2 hours, I went to my perfume cupboard and resprayed Replica and Silk mood on each arm, and low and behold, it was my silk mood all this time, surprising me with a new depth, a new layer, every 5 minutes!!

So long story short, (although I just gave you a long story): Silk mood is def a complex, long lasting, puzzling scent and whenever you wear it, you will get lost in yourself. You know how they say live in the moment, I think perfumes like these definitely are a big help with it. You get to enjoy yourself. Disconnect from what’s happening around you and indulge in the depth of that moment.

I also sprayed Oud mood on my jacket, and when I smelt back, def liked it better that satin. In future I would like to buy Oud mood.

So in closing, I will say-

Longevity- 10
Silage- 10
Mystery- 11
Complexity-10
I have not smelt anything exactly like it, but if I could explain to someone which direction this fragrance goes it will be Black Orchid by Tom Ford and Shalimar By Guerlain. Again not at all similar, but similar signature. However, in saying that, the base/die down is the exact note match of Agent Prov. I sprayed both side by side and yup very very close. But only and only when Silk mood is dying down/ fading away. Or should I say as it departs.

You can see my perfume wardrobe, if your taste is similar to mine, you will like this. I tend to love bold, solid, complex perfumes. Floral, spicy, woody, mature fruit will be my jam, but in saying that i love a lot of fragrances from nature (sandalwood, rose, white florals, driver, musk, oud, vetiver root, patchouli ..) I grow a lot of flowers in my garden as well. I have daphne, gardenia many varieties, multiple varieties of jasmine, Lily , rose, water Lily, rose, lemon blossom, orange blossom, misc white florals etc etc. also with age my taste is changing.

Nbebis

Oud silk mood, in my opinion, is a smoother, more refined take on the classic Oud Rose combo. When first sprayed I get a stemy green rose and chamomile. It is a surprisingly calming top that has a Parisian elegance to it! In the drydown the rose grows darker, it isn't jammy like in oud satin mood it is more like Serge Lutens La Fille De Berlin deep and seductive! The oud also begins to introduce itself, it is not very barn yard, it's a little smoky and clean. There are also green touches from what I think is the papyrus? The far drydown is linear becoming less and less floral as time goes on. Overall a very elegant and professional scent. I can see this in almost any situation, dressed down or up, at a fancy event or something more casual like work. I wouldn't wear it clubbing but I would on a date. It lasts 7-9 hours on my skin with moderate projection for a couple hours before sitting closer to the skin. Very elegant and classy! Anyone who is a fan of rose and oud should definitely check this out, it isn't ground breaking but it is one of the more refined, luxurious, and literally silky rose oud perfumes I've tried.

Staretsi

This reminds me of some perfumes I encountered in Southern Arabia years ago. This is one of the best takes on oud and rose (without any sweetness from vanilla!) that I have found produced by a Western house. It smells authentic. I prefer it to Tom Ford's Oud Fleur as Silk Mood is lighter and more versatile.

I have both this and the extrait version and wore them on alternate arms to directly test. Whilst both very good, this one edges it for me in terms of scent. However, it lasts for about 4 hours whereas the Extrait lasts for about 6 hours.

8.5/10

chloewyd

I accidentally ordered 2 ml of this rather than the satin mood that I wanted to try, and I am underwhelmed. This smells expensive, rosey, airy, and slightly unisex like everyone is saying, but it does not excite me. The price certainly does not justify the scent, and from a brand as renowned as this one, I expected a divine, heavenly scent that blows me out of the water. This smells like pretty much any other rose centric scent. Overall, the smell is fine, but definitely not worth the price.

3/5 since the scent is boring/overdone and overpriced

cfman

I don't care for MFK Oud Silk Mood...it has way too much rose for my liking. I would still consider it unisex if you're a man that likes a rose fragrance. However, I would recommend MFK Oud Satin (not silk) Mood, which has rose in the notes but is lovely.

rezzmail

Ok this is what I said a couple of weeks ago after just testing on a paper strip:

"For rose to be the top accord it's only faintly present. Lots of oud of course, but those top notes barely pull through. This feels more like a luxe take on the crisp green forest-like perfume with a more feminine presentation. Besides that, Silk Mood is still a beautiful, mature fragrance. Just not for me."

But that's my fault for just testing on a paper strip rather than on my skin; I have found in the last week or so that Ouds settle quite well on my skin and wear better than traditional woods, which I enjoy, but I'm growing to love Oud. This feels quite mature and refined, like I have my shit together. And it wears so well. I don't think I could've started my perfume journey with an oud cause it's they are such all consuming notes, but this is the rose tinged, silk blanket I just want to roll around in.

Plus it's sexy, I don't have too many scents that make me feel sexy.

Maailman Katselija

All I could smell is rose, rose and, of course, rose again. However, I like it, but it makes no sense to me to pay a sh*tload of money only for that. Maybe 100 EUR or less?

Controlledbyscent31

Too herbal & green for me to enjoy when mfks oud satin mood edp & extrait are my signature.
Very fresh rose perfect for cold weather, but too masculine for me to wear personally.
I get fredric malle POAL vibes without that spicy base that I don't like so i prefer this over that.
But that being said I won't be buying this.

Cynthia30

I wrote this review without checking the notes.
On first spray, it's sweet (topnote) and woody. The wood is nice and sweet, like sandalwood but lacks creaminess and it's only faintly spicy. So maybe cedar??
A trace of citrus, maybe lemon. Not so much citrus that it turns into a cologne. It's quite harsh on the nose. There is no sour red pepper note either.
The skin smells very soapy, like a vintage soap. Is this iris? Does iris smell like soap?
People will think you just have a clean soapy smell. That's it.

Err how wrong I was about the notes. But let this review stand, because that's how I smelt it. And +1 for Ponds cream, it's exactly Ponds. I wonder why violets are not listed as a note. The woody soapy smell is just violets, violets, violets. If you want to smell like a clean white shirt, this perfume is for you. Smells soapy, vintage and synthetic. Does not smell expensive to me.

Layers well with BR540. Brings out the mentholated notes of BR and you won't smell like everyone else.

Nzerjav

This is another one of the ‘Oud’ offerings from MFK’s lineup.

This one is a traditional oud rose fragrance and reminds me of others like Oud Ispahan. There are no fancy notes here to add interest. I really enjoy this one and it can be suited to both cold and warm weather. I find myself reaching for this one often.

The notes are pretty much what you’d expect from the breakdown above. It’s greener than oud satin mood. The heart notes and base offer incense and oud. It can give off an almost ‘gasoline’ smelling note into the dry down, which I find beautiful in this setting. This fragrance lasts as long as you’d expect for the price point and sillage follows suit.

If you like oud and rose fragrances, this is a good archetype. It is approachable but has enough extra finesse and dirt to not be boring and still excite the wearer. It’s got some incense and ‘dusty rose’ action but it’s rounded out nicely so you won’t be offensive unless you go crazy spraying.

If Oud Satin Mood is a scent for going out and dressing up, this is safer for more casual wear and the right person could wear this as a daily.

cyn922

100% agree with Isaaabeeelle. I feel I can use this all year around but with caution of numbers of spray depending on the weather. I feel so confident when I wear this perfume. I like the fact that this perfume does not have patchouli or vanilla or praline. It is super green, rosey, and oudy.

Isaaabeeelle

I love the green and rose notes in this. The oud is not too overstated but it has a presence and blends nicely. Very intimate and cozy. This makes me want to curl up and drink tea right now in the winter, but during warmer seasons it has me feeling a very trendy, cool person vibe. Even though oud is such a classic perfume note, this is very modern to me, perhaps it’s something about the fact that it also smells like living plants. The projection and duration is solid but also this is the kind of scent I would mostly wear for myself. If you like other woody/plantlike scents and want an elevated, classically inspired take on those notes, this is highly recommended.

adelaidesandrina

Okay sorry for sounding like a broken record but this smells like a 5 star hotel. Seriously! It smells like its price.. expensive. It’s rich, it’s potent without becoming too heavy to wear. I agree with the perfume guy on yt, saying that this fragrance smells clean and so well put together. And also is it just me or does this have a mineral-like note to it? And/or something that’s resinous? Whatever it is, i’m 100% digging it.

luminaries

This is a very typical rose and oud combo, but the emphasis is much more on the rose in this formula which I really like. I get a little bit of a green scent from this at first spray, but the rose overpowers all until the eventual dry down where it becomes a more soapy rose and wood mix. I actually like this fresher formula more than the vanilla in Oud Satin Mood from MFK, but I can see the sharpness of this rose being divisive. The longevity was long and the sillage was powerful. I think this is really unisex. There are other rose/oud combos I like more right now, but this one is not bad at all.

ba2l

@elledior you have an elegant taste..
I don’t like Satin Mood either, and I like Silk Mood way more than Satin Mood, which is a fresh take on oud and rose, I am a middle eastern female..

However although I really don’t like Satin Mood which is only made as an (extra jammy violet rose/ very light on the oud) to suit western taste, I don’t think it is skanky at all, in fact I don’t think it has any detectable Oud as Silk Mood..

Real oud does not smell barnyard, (real musk does)..
Real oud has pests odor like, on damp dirty/earthy old wood in a good perfume way..

I think perhaps the barnyard smell your nose picks is something to do with the heavy flowers dose in Satin Mood (violet/rose combo) that can come animalic to some noses sometimes, just like jasmine..

WGG

Based on MFK sample. The idea was to try out various samples before committing, and neither me or my other half liked this one (in fact she really didnt like it). Our experience with MFK is generally positive but this this fragrance was a disappointment because this is mainly rose rose and a bit of oud, very smooth, projects forever. I'd describe it as 'loud, smooth, rose'. In the end it's just too much, sorry to those who love this!
2/5

PS To be fair to MFK my wife loves and wears Grand Soir, and me Masculin Pluriel. Others are also beautiful. Petit Matin and Aqua Celestia, both clean, pure, uplifting in their own way.

elledior

@perfume4everyone That’s how it smelled to me. There are many other oud fragrances I’ve tried that are more pleasant and don’t smell like that. I’ve also tried others that smell similar or worse. Fragrance is subjective.

Dmiddy

Oud is generally hit or miss for me, but I barely detect it in this formula. This scent is all rose, which I generally avoid because it smells shrill to my nose. Overall, this is not for me.

perfume4everyone

@elledior, you are the first person on planet who said there is extremly barnyard oud in satin mood. I don't think that you know what is barnyard oud and how it smells like.

elledior

I love this! I was so surprised at how gorgeous and rosey it is. It really reminds me of Rose D’Arabie. It has similar elegance, realistic rose, the oud is lighter here though. But this fragrance isn’t heavy so I would wear it as an everyday fragrance. Satin Mood for me is horrible because although it’s sweet and rosey, the oud is extremely barnyard and overpowers (until the drydown). The oud here is perfect to me.

updog

oud and *mostly* rose... yawn

maplesyrup

I love MFK's Oud (extrait) and, without regret, purchased a full bottle of that fragrance. So, what can go wrong with the Oud Silk Mood extrait or eau de parfum versions?

Oud Silk Mood (extrait): To me, this smells like chlorinated pool water with a vinyl-made pool toy sitting in the hot sun giving off unpleasant fumes. It took some time for the dry down notes to set in which added a subtle floral tone. This version is heavier on the synthetic oud - somewhat anamalic but not fecal. This version leans more masculine.

Oud Silk Mood (edp): The opening is similar to the extrait - but not as pronounced. The dry down notes appear much quicker and the scent evolves into a pleasant, soft, floral fragrance that sits close to the skin and lingers for hours. This version leans more feminine.

Neither should be considered as blind buys. Both are a pass for me. In contrast, I find MFK's Oud (extrait) to be an extraordinary fragrance and yet I am no fan of ouds - go figure. Cheers.

Torieleigh13

Eh. It smells like cheap hair dye from the drug store. I had much higher expectations.

Edit: after a few hours or so on the skin, the harsh synthetic fragrance a la Garnier has settled down to a smoother floral that is more appealing. It still smells like a Febreeze’d chemical pit to my nose on first smell, and on my linen shirt.

e2less

I have no idea why I love the "Oud and Rose" fragrances. I like Silk Mood which is more unisex (more masculine) with woods, green notes and the oud is more prominent in the dry down. Perfect for dresser occasion in cold weather.

zelelipe

This smells so bad to me... I'm getting spicy synthetic florals on the opening and it starts very sharp. It gets better as it dries down and becomes a natural rose scent which sits very close to skin and fades very quickly. I will not be purchasing this and will even re-sell the sample because I'm not ever going to wear it again. It reminds me of a mix between Loewe Aura (which I quite like) and Charlotte Tilbury's dreadful Scent of a Dream. It has a mosquito-repellant type of vibe. It smells expensive but obnoxious and not in a good way!

Steph_S

I received a sample of this over a year ago. I really thought I didn't like it. I have several MFK fragrances out of which OUD Satin Mood is one of my favorites. On a whim, I sprayed it on today. I don't know what's changed in a year, whether it's me, my nose, my surroundings, the sample, or all of the above, but today I couldn't stop sniffing it. Actually, I didn't have to put my nose close because the sillage is enormous. I didn't make detailed notes when I tried it, I only have "don't purchase full bottle - don't like" in my comments. Well, now I have to change it to "I'm never going to have any money because I have to purchase a full bottle" :-)

RisingChaos

Moderate rose/citrus opening, which starts to blend with the oud and green accords as it dries down. More versatile than it's given credit IMO. It's a pleasant scent, borderline love, but it really doesn't perform well on my skin unlike Satin Mood. Projection for ~2hr even with judicious overspraying, ~6hr longevity tops. Better than the Extrait, which adds an offputting menthol accord to the mix.

lemale83

Name says it all, it’s super silky. Beautiful rose oud combo, never seen such a smoothness from any rose oud combo before. It’s a realistic rose accord with some citrus freshness, oud is minimal and well blended, nothing harsh or fecal kind of oud. There is some other floral accord also underneath, I believe it’s chamomile? It just compliment the whole thing nicely. I personally prefer this over Satin mood which is too sweet for my taste. Another winner from MFK line. Perfectly unisex.

EritErit

Gurjun Balsam Silk Mood; lol smells like a typical middle eastern Gurjun balsam/cyrpiol/floral, rose + lily of the valley (mueget, cyclamen) stuff with sandalwood molecules.

sallyming

It smelled like cola and insect repellant to me. Like what the others said, you have to wait for the dry down. But I think if my perfume preference matures more, I would love this. Currently not a love but I think I will in the future.

A.J.lamp

The first spray smells like a man's deodorant until it dries down to the wood scent and a hint of potpourri. Somebody said it smelled like Pond's Rose Cold Cream, yes, a little. You have to use this as skin perfume.

The Wolf

This is one of the best oud rose combo's that I've smelled.
If you're tired of this genre, I wouldn't recommend pulling the trigger on this because you won't get anything super new. But, if you like this combo or are new to it, then I'd say try this.
It's at the very top of rose/oud experiences .

This is well blended, very high quality and is silky smooth. The rose is beautiful and not harsh like montale which this is compared with.
It's airy, slightly metallic and slightly powdered, with a touch of leather.
Oud is a bit rubbery/medicinal but not challenging IMO.
Personally, I like this more than satin mood because there is no sweetness which can be cloying in the climate I live in (warm).

It's not super loud and longevity is good 10 hours.
Very wearable in the fall/winter or spring evening's due to the airiness of the fragrance.

Katabetha

Ok.. until the drydown it is unpleasant, but then it gets quite gorgeous. Feels upscale and posh, I imagine an old rich lady wearing this

writekatewrite

It smells like Pond's rose-scented cold cream, spot on. If you haven't been using Pond's to take your makeup off all your life, I'm sure it's lovely, but I can't shake the feeling that I missed a bit of cold cream cleaning up and that's why I smell like this.

Cristina Co

I have ordered a couple of samples from the MFK website and honestly I have had huge expectations particularly from this one. First time I sprayed Silk Mood I was slightly disappointed but I couldn’t say why. I expected something better than the traditional rose oud I guess. I’ve got this medicinal feel to it on me that I don’t particularly enjoy, so I waited a couple of weeks and tried it again. No, the medicinal touch is still there is it stays in the dry down too.
I surely won’t be purchasing a full bottle of it now, however I am very much intrigued by its uniqueness.

Definitely not sexy to me, not sensual, it is an unique scent that give me the feeling of a rainy cloudy day, which I enjoy, but not enough to buy a big bottle of it.

I will try this again sometime in the future, curious to see if something changes

Lee SteL

I dont know why its really powdery on me
Not sweet Its lighter than the Oud Satin Mood
I like it
But i love Oud satin mood more
But i cant choose one of them
i will definitely go for these 2 beautiful oud scent

nordhaul

First impression: smells shamelessly
and femininely expensive. Not like a
Classy perfume, per say, but like cost.
Literally smells like “pay me”. Instantly
I’m transported to The Neiman Marcus
Fragrance isle, full of middle aged and
seasoned mature sales ladies. And I do
say NM not Nordstrom’s. Bc Nordies just
doesn’t have that “pay me” vibe at all. So
I kind of was intrigued at first, wondering
how this will pan out... and then I get just
Rose. No real Oud really. A bit nauseating
floral rosey powdery bomb. A bit boring 🥱
too. Definitely NOT for me. Just “ok”, very
disappointing, no where near Satin Oud 🤤

nativelocal

While I'm still undecided on whether this will be a full bottle for me, it's undeniably a beautiful part of MFK's Oud lineup. What I get most from this fragrance is rose, bergamot and oud. The combination of the bergamot and rose in this smells like fresh rose water to me. So basically, this smells like fresh rose water and oud. It's much lighter than I expected and isn't too overwhelming at all. The oud isn't skanky or super animalic. It's very smooth and refined smelling. I think this would be a nice alternative for someone who found Oud Satin Mood to be too sweet, heavy or cloying.

robin1234

I have tested the sample for a few days and I am feeling kind of frustrated. This perfume is simply heavenly! It is so good but it is way out of my budget. If my wife see it with me, she will kill me without any hesitation. : ) It is fresh, luxurious, strong, super lasting and most importantly it smells like a million bucks. One spray on the chest and one at the back of the neck, you are set for a blissful day sniffing this magical concoction. I've also tried Oud Satin Mood but prefers this one because it is more versatile and slightly more masculine to me nose. 10/10 without any doubt.

bourcet

This fragrance makes me think of Wayne and Garth and the "We're not worthy" bit from Wayne's World. Who is worthy enough to wear this? When would you wear this? What event would be the right vibe to match the luxury, complexity and seriousness of this oud mood? Brumbarch brings up an interesting point below: the wind really does activate the sillage here in a way that shows off the power of the projection. But when? It's far too formal for the farmers market, and in the era of masks, could anyone truly appreciate it? Oddly, I feel like this perfume would fit an outdoor funeral which is not a really fair classification; however, in the moment in which we're all collectively living, it relegates the fanciness and formality of things to that of a distant memory. On me I feel like it takes quite a while to get the rose to emerge, all I smell is oud, oud and more oud. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily, but those who relegate this to jammy rose territory, I have to wonder what is up with my skin chemistry to not get that vibe from this fragrance at all.

returnatyourperil

imagine roses on a bed of chamomile with some light faint oud drizzle on top - thats what this smells like

brumbarche

It's beautiful, smells expensive and classy, but just like some said - it is not versatile. This became an issue for me, as I spend more time smelling it and waiting for that perfect moment to enjoy it outdoors, than actually wearing it. It really didn't go with any fun outfit. And it's meant to be taken outside. The wind carries it and you feel incredible to notice it envelop you in its wafts in the whirl... and it's amazing, as if time stops and you are in this place of beautiful clarity. It's amazing on a cold rainy day, when you are in your long fitted black wool overcoat, your red lipstick and waterproof mascara - it feels so minimalistic and yet as the ripples of an event horizon of infinitely complex implosion. Screams "style" and you feel you can win any battle with it - it demands you to be put together and in tune with yourself. It is like classical music. Like the perfection you find in a crystal or in the drama of a single violin. It's simultaneously dark and slow-mo high definition in some time warp bubble of its own. It really doesn't go with white t-shirt or even white office shirt or a sweater or your messy bun. There's nothing, absolutely nothing casual about it. It's not good for a date either. It's not sexy. I can't imagine even a sexy celebrity on the red carpet making it feel appropriate in such setting. It's magical, but rather unapproachable. Layering it does give you a chance to wear it more, but at the price of killing and smudging in a blur the very specifics that make the scent what it is. I got to layer it couple of times with this extremely sweet lactonic perfume, which I don't really wear ever on its own, but works together with this one for me - it's Ferragamo's Signorina Misteriosa. It's this sickly sweet and not very expensive creation, which through layering allowed me to take Oud Silk Mood to some special dinners and events and enjoy it there. Layering it felt close to vandalizing a work of art, but it got me few compliments too, so ... I'm not going to be so hard on myself after all for doing it :) Actually Ferragamo has in his exclusive collection a perfume called Calimala which I own and does smell a lot like this one, but is slightly more approachable and makes you forget that you smell roses, you only have this addicted reaction to it - the kind when you just can't stop inhaling the aroma and you don't even remember what the smell was when you could recognize it - you are just mesmerized.

Riverwind79

I agree with some of the post below that you need to wait for the drydown. Just recenlty got a bottle of this and I think it got me hooked on to oud scent perfume. The rose note from the initial spray is rather distinctive.

____xxx

Smells like Glade Room Freshener - "Peaceful Rose and Wood" that you can buy 5 for 5$ from Amazon. It smells nice, but from start to end, it is just a blast of rose which made me a bit uncomfortable after 30 minutes as all I can smell is rose. Ringa ringa Rosie ....

wdfbhootn

I love this better than extrait ver.

gmaster

The initial spray in an oud bomb on me, so much so that I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it.

However, as it dries down a little, I can smell the rose. I don't distinguish the chamomile nor the bergamot.

I ordered samples from the MFK website to try many fragrances and I know I won't order this one. However, for someone who really enjoys oud-focused fragrances, this could be love at first smell. I prefer Oud Satin Mood as it is more "cozy" and "satiny", as the name recalls.

I think this (Oud Silk Mood) would be a perfect perfume to spray on a cachemire scarf or a thick wool sweater during a cold winter, where you're sitting by the fire and drinking a woody red wine.

aaronmilic

All that glitters is not gold. I love Satin Mood and Cashmere Oud but this one... pass.

schmammy

This scent is truly gorgeous! I love it on myself and my husband! Maybe my husband a little more because it just is my absolute favorite when he walks by wearing it. The rose is prominent but the blend of the notes together in this one is truly harmonious! I know oud satin mood tends to get more acclaim, but this scent tops any of the other ouds in the mfk lineup for me!

SniffingStu

This has an epic rose note! Very piercing on application. The "oud" adds the slightest leather, it's not true oud and can't be picked out either, I only guess this from the effect I know oud to have when blended with rose. There's a detergent/chemical vibe if you bury your nose in it, but provides a freshness. I find it's best to apply away from your face, and with that being said, the scent trail is really lovely. The slight leather note makes it male-wearable I think.

coolephelps

Hmm surprised no one linked the opening to Fars from Xerjoff. Albeit, it's not as potent as Fars but one on each arm smells very similar. The oud in Fars is much stronger while the oud in OSM calms rather fast allowing the 🌹 to drop its cloak. Both are bottle worthy if you're a fan of the infamous rose oud combo. It's just the OSM is easier to wear. While, the Fars smells of class and I don't get out much to justify wearing it. If you have either one, you're doing something great with your life.

ritch

Heavy Bulgarian rose up top, and drying into a solid backbone of oud and rose giving it some body and depth. Not massively into rose… I guess I just get the classic female / 50s femme fatal or even old lady association some others get with rose. This just feels fem to me and something I wouldn’t reach to spray on myself, but if you’re into a fem oud scent that is very polished, refined and smooth this might be for you. It was curiosity that lead me to try MFK but I’m not impressed with the house, clearly they don’t make scents in a style I enjoy. Too polished, too refined, and too smooth. I’d prefer skanky, dirty, earthy. The smell of a man thats done something and been somewhere, rather than one who’s polished and perfumey. Thats a bit too metro / dandy for my style. So clearly, I’m in the wrong place here. If that’s your style no reason to give it a sample, MFK have a good sampling policy… but still I think there’s better out there. Might be best for a mature female, for special occasions and formal. As a date scent the sweetness of Oud Satin Mood may suit you better but as a formal scent, go for this if its your style.

hfigures

I ordered this lovely sample from the MFK website. This is a silky blend of oud and rose. I find it light and refreshing. A joyful oud. It's long lasting and the sillage is moderate which is what I'm looking for in a fragrance. I wish it was a bit sweeter because I'm finding it a bit masculine.

Yaterade

I do really enjoy this fragrance but I think it will forever remain in the shadow of the Extrait for multiple reasons... first let me get what it does better out first; the Oud. What is almost nonexistent in the Extrait to me, this dries down into a very classic, semi fecal (but not overly so) Oud. It is also not very strong. If you want a heavy semi rose fecal Oud that punches you in the face I think Oud Palao does this job much better. The Oud here gives you a little taste while still being something that isn’t shouty to those around you and could be perfectly suited for that occasion.

Now on to differences that I think the Extrait does better... first, the chamomile. I don’t get this really much at all in the EdP but in the Extrait it is the basis for a lovely opening that stays on skin for almost a good hour. Chamomile is listed as a note in the EdP but it plays such a more predominant early note role in the Extrait that its inclusion in the notes here seems like almost an afterthought. Secondly, and a big one, the rose. The rose in the EdP is the open. Firmly and loudly. It is an absolutely gorgeous rose in both concentrations and FK has to fully be commended for something as beautiful as this. The Rose is the powerhouse of both scents and is the main attraction of your admission ticket. However, this is the opening note which fades in under an hour on the EdP, but the main dry down of the Extrait. It is so wonderful that for the price of admission, the rose really should be the main note. Advantage to the Extrait again.

The feather in the cap for the Extrait is the performance. The projection and sillage phases last considerably longer, and can be detectable on skin for well over 12 hours. The EdP in contrast projects for probably a solid 1-1.5 hours but even as a skin scent is gone between hours 5 to 6. It wouldn’t be such a glaring issue if its bigger brother didn’t exist, but here we are.

Both this, and the Extrait are absolutely gorgeous scents, don’t get me wrong... but the things that make this gorgeous are more prevalent and longer lasting in the Extrait. Spend the extra money and put it towards that. I think you’ll be happier.

forêt

I sampled this yesterday and it seems to my nose to be mostly rose. As I caught whiffs of it, I would be pleasantly surprised every time. It’s really gorgeous. Finally, I think, I could just sense the oud about 2 hours later. Not sure how others can smell it so strongly. Will defo sample it again and try to smell oud. Going to also sample the Oud Satin and Velvet Moods, just for fun.

Science&Scents

This is gorgeous but as others have said, you have to wait for the dry down. The oud is the first note to jump out of the bottle: medicinal, church-y, expensive oud. Once the initial blast calms down (I recall 15-20min), the silkiness of the rose comes through. It's really remarkable. I cannot bring myself to wear an MFK creation such as this without having on a full gown, clutch and 40's glam waves; so she sits, patiently. For how often do us mere mortals have such occasions (sigh)? A treasure and masterpiece.

MarchAZ

Sometimes I read users reviews like I am reading poetry and I do not understand how they come up with that just from the smell of a perfume. That was until today; today I received this wonderful juice, perfection in a bottle. I will not write poetry about it, but I will say that to me, this is the godfather of perfumes.

JerZgal94

Oud Silk Mood EDP lasts for over 10 hours on me, I am not sure what the reviewer below me is talking about. 👀...

Anyways, on to more important things like a true review perhaps?
I only have a sample because I was unsure on whether my body would agree with an oud fragrance and I thought correctly. On my skin it is an oud bomb. I’m talking like an antique bookshelf left out in the backyard and the wood slowly rotting due to being left out in the elements for a few years. I’m talking like I just got back from a vacation from the Middle East. The rose is subtle on my skin but very prevalent when sniffing off the nozzle. I can appreciate the other notes: chamomile, and bergamot in the fragrance. I can only imagine that without the two the oud would be dangerous. I won’t buy a full bottle because when I wear OSM, I layer it with BR450. The two together is just heavenly.

trillav

Don't bother with the EDP. The extrait blows it out of the water, no comparison. EDP is nothing special, the extrait is stunning. I've written a review for it.

This just falls flat for me...the realistic papyrus note is lacking, it's fresh but not memorable. Not worth the price considering longevity and sillage, also.

marinaw90

Very jammy sweet medicinal rose and oud. Reminds me of Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, but with a sharper kick from the bergamot. I like my roses very light and fresh, so this isn't really to my taste. I much prefer Satin Mood to this, but it seems silly comparing them as they're such different scents.

PinRa

Here’s my take on MFK silk mood

There’s a picture where you can see a bottle of this fragrance nested in a beautiful burgundy silk scarf.
That picture vehicle perfectly the overall sensation of this fragrance.

This perfume will create the most comforting and warm protection around you during the glacial winter nights.
Just like sunbeams, the chamomile and odd combo shines and takes over every single square millimeter of the atmosphere around you without compromising on lightness and transparency. The chamomile and oud combo is a true tour de maitre.

Going back to the picture, this fragrance will wrap you in the softest, fluid, lavish, warmhearted silk scarf.
The colour of burgundy is also spot on; dark, inner, elegant, red.

My only concern : not versatile and very pricy.

gelkita

My favorite Oud from maison Francis Kurkdjian.
The second would be Oud satin mood EDP.

However Oud silk mood EDP has less longevity than oud satin mood EDP and I cannot swap it for the extrait version because I find the extrait too strong for my liking...

Scentmad

Finally an oud I absolutely love. It’s a note I struggle with but in this..... wow. Divine

Hassan Nasrallah

For me that's heaven, it's another interpretation of Oud rose combination, adding bergamot, wood and chamomile to soften the resulted creation ( I don know the Hedione to judge its effect )

I cant say it is unique but i can assure it is smart perfume easily wearable and unisex, very long lasting with softness and calm, very classy and elegant compared to other perfumes from the same category

LOVE LOVE and LOVE

tonileefiore

I eagerly opened my latest perfume sample shipment and tentatively applied Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Oud Silk Mood after reading mixed (many negative) reviews here and on other websites. Anticipating the perfume's arrival, I deliberately did not apply any other perfume that day because I wanted to experience this expensive perfume in its full glory. Surprisingly, I really LOVE this fragrance; however given the hefty price tag, I may be forced to move on to similar rouse oud perfumes and rose oud blends, such as those produced by Jo Malone, M. Micallef, Montale and Tiziana Terenzi (to name a few).

I am NOT a perfume expert and I especially am not an oud expert. I've never smelled the true scent of a natural agarwood tree. With that said, I experienced and owned Killian's Incense Oud. Recently, I decided to re-explore floral ouds. I hope to find a floral (rose) oud that I can wear & enjoy on a regular basis...a departure from my favorite scents, Creed's Jasmine Imperiatrice Eugenie, Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur and Acqua di Parma's Magnolia Nobile. I like floral scents...I do...but I'm picky and I do NOT like solifleurs. I also do NOT like fragrances with straight or singular mossy and/or wood (resinous) notes (VETIVER, patchouli, amber, sandalwood, aged rum-oak barrel, etc).

MFK's Oud Silk Mood is a gorgeous fragrance but IMHO, you MUST wait for the dry-down! For me, the basenotes and dry-down are what make this fragrance stand out and shine. Even someone like me with limited perfume knowledge can tell this perfume is created with some fine ingredients...oud, rose, papyrus and chamomile...that's about it. Lovely.

I warn the opening notes are intense, loud and almost vulgar...rubber, SMOKE & metallic notes jump out of the bottle, onto the skin & through the nose, showing no mercy! After initial application, I thought "Uh oh...oh no...this is gonna make me ill...this is gonna be a SCRUBBER!" All I could smell after initial application was something akin to burnt rubber...oud!

Within 10-15 minutes, this EDP exposed its true glory with the longest lasting & loveliest wood (oud), musk-y, dark rose notes I have ever experienced. After 30-60 minutes, I could not stop enjoying the glow of the most gorgeous Bulgarian rose & wood-y oud fragrance I have ever experienced! MY husband kept commenting, "You smell GREAT when you walk by...is that the SAME PERFUME you HAD ON about 1 hour ago??? The SAME one??? Really??? You smell great...nice!" Silage!!!

One Basenotes reviewer, who gave this fragrance a decidedly "thumbs down" review called this fragrance "cheap, synthetic, dark, odd, etc with 'urban glossy darkness' & pretention, etc." I can understand this reviewer's experience, I really can because that is (sorta) the way this fragrance opens.

But give it time and delight in the dry-down. This EDP is long lasting and is a beautifully warm, comforting floral (rose) & resinous fragrance. Silage is great & really pleasant. Not sure I have the budget to spring for a full bottle. And unlike By Killian, not sure if this MFK fragrance is worthy of its hefty price tag. I'm going to take some time in the near future to re-experience "similar" fragrances, as mentioned above.

Definitely worthy of a sample try, if you like rose & oud AND you can wait for the dry-down!!!

SniffingStu

Wow, potent juice! In its simplest form, a rose oud, but well done. This opens with a massive and realistic rose accord, not sweet, and not powdery old lady, it's deep like a moist bouquet from the shop. The oud is of course noticeable right out of the gate. There is an epic chamomile note, and a thick warm musk registers with me although not listed. The these three flavors waltz about, each showcased individually with successive breaths. After a few minutes, it grows darker, deeper, earthier, the oud mellows out, and overall coherence takes shape. It continues developing, and spicy peppery notes appear eventually revealing a fresh bergamot zest. I've not found a rose before this that I found masculine enough to wear, THIS is a perfect example of a masculine rose fragrance, would also be stunning on a woman at night. It has a powerful sillage. The hedione and bergamot go well together, and dominate the development several hours in. I have several arabian oils with this combo. Longexity is good, several hours of power then wears close to the skin for several more.

Very nice, if you are seeking a smooth rose/oud scent. It's probably the smoothest I've tried but I tend to like things a bit rougher, and even something like Franck Olivier's Oud Touch would likely satisfy any oud-ish cravings I have.

I got a sample of this and the Satin Mood the other day, and I realize after a day of wearing both, that to me, Silk Mood is a superior fragrance to Satin. Silk mood is as it's name suggests, silky and flowing, The rose and oud intermingle perfectly without one overpowering the other. Is still heady and quite strong, but not nearly as strong and as someone else described, skanky as the oud in Satin. Satin almost grabs you by the nostrils with a very sharp astringent note that takes quite some time to die down.

This fragrance has a wonderful floral rose component which lends to it cutting the harshness of the oud. Rose has such a powerful scent on it's own that it is perfectly capable of complimenting without being overpowered. This combination has a nice blend that reminds me of a cashmere woods note. It is VERY strong and a couple sprays will easily last 8 hours on your skin.

A lovely but unsurprising Floriental centered around a nice Bulgarian Rose and unlike what it’s name may suggest very little Oud. The perfume opens with the central rose note that stays throughout the wear of the perfume. Six other notes come and go in various stages of the perfume as it dries. First a herbal aromatic chamomile and bergamot. Next synthetic musk and guaiac. Finally the slight Oud and papyrus. Feminine leaning with strong projection and sillage and good longevity. Recommended for rose lovers. Many may find this cloyingly sweet but it is a safe pretty scent. Enjoy!

I'm shocked to discover that I may like Silk Mood more than Satin Mood, which I have loved from afar for at least a few years. The oud isn't skanky and the fragrance blends beautifully with my skin.

It smells like a sweet, perfectly balanced tea. It's a smooth, simple and elegant perfume. Nothing stands out and nothing is too harsh. Some may find it boring but I believe this is a relaxed masterpiece.

I tried both oud silk and satin mood because people were raving about oud. It turned out I don’t like oud. It smells like middle eastern fragrances to me. Pls don’t be offended if you like those type of fragrances or you’re from the middle east. I just wish someone described how oud smells like so I didn’t have to try it. ✌

On me the OUD is sooo much stronger than the rose... still so good. Much more oriental then Narciso's Rose Musc.

It is very similar to Oud Satin Mood, which I love a lot. The difference between is that this one is more silky and smooth as its name suggested whereas the latter is a bit thicker than this. The comparison of silk and satin is perfect. I would have bought both of them if I have enough money.

While the EDP does not exhibit that beautiful lush quality the Extrait does, it is still a very solid release at a better price point. Silk Mood is a more "user friendly" portrayal of the Extrait that does not enter the room before you, but rather accompanies you. Very smooth, balanced, and elegant. More of a fabulous everyday Oud composition. I detect hints towards Armani Prive Rose D'Arabie, however, the rose in Armani starts of much more sweet and jammy- the dry downs are extremely close. But for that opening and mid- D'Arabie gets my vote. From the MFK Oud series thus far, Oud Satin Mood remains my favorite.

Rose and oud r dominate. Longevity and sillage not that great. Amouage Lyric Man a much better masculine rose fragrance. Maybe it's the hedione I don't like, but this wasn't a very pleasant smell. Received as a sample and won't be buying a full bottle.

I already own MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait du Parfum. It’s one of my favourite scents created by Francis Kurkdjian; in fact, it’s one of my favourite scents, period! It is so opulent, smooth, radiant, yet invigorating - just a perfect blend of rose, chamomile and oud. Its performance on my skin is out of this world and I always receive tons of compliments whenever I wear it - although some folks complain that it’s too strong.
Naturally, I was curious to test Oud Silk Mood EDP. I’m wearing it right now and I’m happy to report that it is still pretty much the same scent. As expected, EDP is somewhat dilluted compared to the Extrait, so the opening is a bit crisper, and the fragrance has lost some of its lush density. Since I’m used to the Extrait, I will not be replacing it with the EDP; but those of you who are new to Oud Silk Mood can easily opt for the EDP, which comes at a slightly lower price point. As expected, its longevity is amazing, while its silage is moderate to strong, so it’s a bit more office-friendly than the unapologetic Extrait.

This is a nice, comforting scent, with very gentle chamomile, however it's not a breakthrough. It is rather masculine, gives a fresh and cool feeling with good longevity and moderate sillage. Looking foward to compare it with MFK's other oud compositions.
