Lol, I was wiping the dust off my bottle of this remembering how bad I wanted it & I finally got my authentic bottle in & was in awe of the presentation being I’m just such a big fanboy of MFK to begin with! & skipping straight to the Extrait was surely smart lol…Not really I can’t smell it…All the professionals on here & at stores like Neiman Marcus say “quote” You can’t but everyone else does!! “Trust me!!” lol whatever I have been done & will never even desire this one again anyways along with the Montale & Mancera copies of it in the back of the cabinet pretty much taking up space..Too many fragrances out there that me & them both are capable of smelling.

Erianwyn

I love the original, I really do, and I hate the unbelievable venomous hatred aimed at these two. As much as I love the OG, I find this one to be deeper, richer and closer to the skin. The very top shelf of the fragrance collection in my heart holds Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait and Oud Satin Mood, both of which I will only ever wear for myself. I have day scents, night scents, office scents, date scents……but these magnificent beauties are mine, and mine alone.

Lunara

I just cant stop loving it. Even when the clones of BR540 are everywhere. For those who didint feel the difference beetween the og and clones so be it. I can allways tell if someone is wearing og or clone. Hate the clones tho, for my opinion clones do not have that deep feeling and smells cheap to me. But if u happy with clones so be it. Have both extrait ant EDP and these two are my best friends in autumn and winter. Both from an old batch of 2019. These two ar tresures in my colection. And I dont kow what I am going to do when i finish my bottles.

Craig87

Highly addictive smell!

Very clever perfumery, synthetic composition yet it smells natural. Much better than the EDP. More smoother and well rounded. Strong enough to project in the winter, yet light enough to work in the spring or autumn.

Slightly more masculine than the EDP which is marketed as unisex when in fact is a female perfume. This is defiantly unisex. Smells like money with a hint of sophistication. I think this will be my signature scent except for the summer months.

People who prefer and understand quality can get this scent. 100/10. Top Product. I'll never forget the first time I smelled it. Best of the best.

GoodSmellsOnly14

To start this off, this scent is an absolute masterpiece. 11/10 everything is blended so beautifully it really doesn’t get better than this. Nothing and I mean nothing, could ever come close to duping this.

With that being said, the longevity and sillage on this for the price point are truly horrific. Yes I go nose blind to this very quickly, but within maybe 3-4 hours no one can smell this anymore unless their nose is directly next to you. I am so confused when people say BR540 x is beast mode because it is far from it. I wish so badly this would perform like Guidance by Amouge but it just is such a miss when it comes down to performance and price.

Bougie_J🌸

When I first smelled this in Nordstroms my eyes rolled into the back of my head. It was love at first sniff. I go anosmic to it pretty quickly but others can smell on me and it stays on my clothes for a long time. I. Love. This. 🖤

RottigrlNYC

I’ve got this and hundreds more niche fragrances and samples on Mercari. Under Fragsnrags and Scentuallyyours. Check out my store. Message me with any questions. US only please . At least for now.

Update: bottle was sold. All I have now are samples of this perfume for sale. And many others.

Ilovep27

My ride or die. FOREVER. Don't care about the hype. QUALITY LOVE

calamusdraco4

This is BEASTMODE. Lol

I wanna clear this up for people who don’t get the hype - if you’ve ever smelt this on anyone it smells rich, elegant and expensive. It’s unique and stands out, I recently found out too that even though it’s mostly synthetic this isn’t a bad thing. The synthetics in this are hugely expensive too, they’re not cheap ones. So synthetics have their place when they are good quality ones

Sillage and longevity, amazing. If you’ve bought a full bottle use it a bit, it needs time to sit and for the notes to blend etc.

MeditativeRose

All you BR540 Extrait fanbase out there do not hate me for writing this but I just DON'T get it! I have really tried to love this for a long time because let's be honest, Francis Kurdjian is an olfactory maestro. But, no! This just smells pleasant all of two seconds on me whether clothes or skin and then turns into hemp oil like smell every time! I am a great connoisseur of the almond note in fragrances but where is it here?! It is also not beast mode. It could only be the 'tiniest of tiniest dwarfs' mode scent on me. I could cry!

Amano Kanzaki

My teacher gifted me this and I have to say it is fabulous. Though I would never spend this much for what I got because there are tons of clones with almost the same scent out there.

Perfume&BeautyCollector87

Brother purchased not long ago.I think this perfume is overrated. I don't know how to describe the scent as i have never smelled that kind of odour before. Not going to lie, i thought it would smell better. Very long lasting, the smell grows stronger when it's hot.

cheleine

I wish this was the first Baccarat I’ve ever experienced.

The only association I had with this scent profile was always the original that I detested as it had a weird note (people have described it as dentist’s office, burnt latex and many other things - to me it just smelled unpleasant and off putting) and around me, I was smelling A LOT of it. I mean a loooot. So many copycats but also people who wore the real thing were spraying so so much to the point that it was overwhelming, unpleasant, rude.

I came to the conclusion recently that a lot of people overspray Baccarat Rouge - even in the middle of a heatwave, without a care about suffocating others because in fact many of them become noseblind to it after a certain point or partially anosmic.
I believe it’s the “ambergis” note in the mix that is actually probably ambroxan and it’s a note that I tend to get easily anosmic to myself.

Now about the scent. This is a smoother, richer, sweeter, woodier concentrated scent of the original with that weird note dialed down a lot. Absolute heaven.
Now I get it.

It’s grand. It smells lush, expensive, seductive.
People treat me differently when I have this on, eyes try to meet mine, oh and the compliments!!!

Baccarat Rouge Extrait, you will never not be famous.

For a reason.

JonnyBadass

My buddy I work with wears this scent often and it honestly just smells like a synthetic mess to me. You wouldn’t know by the notes that this has a cloying synthetic sweetness. Like a mess of melted cotton candy, hot plastic, and almonds in the back of some poor mom’s mini van. Imagine all that with something medicinal lingering in the background. Overhyped and overpriced imo.
I think the original EDP smells alright on a woman, but as a man, that cotton-candy sweetness makes me want to stay away. If you’re a man who is just following the hype, consider Grand Soir from this house instead.

Namu1

Today like burned sugar, with a hint of salt ,licorice and body odour. Usually i dont’t get any licorice. One day i like this , other day it makes me sick. Same with projection, sometimes you can hardy smell it on yourself and next day it’s a beast. Thicker, softer and sweeter than edp.

Dior Sausage

Am I in the minority for thinking this is more feminine than the EDP? The EDP is muskier and airier on me, this smells like a cherry bakewell tart. I'd much rather wear the EDP as a guy.

kerricj

Too similar to the OG, not worth the extra money but the performance of this is a beast due to the fixatives & synthetics. Not much naturals in this so I tend to get a headache from this as it smells quite synthetic. Pleasant but not good enough for me due to the almondy/nutty accord, not the biggest fan. 6/10. Use your money either on the OG, or on other MFKs like OSM or GS.

Neo1z

The opening has a strong ethyl maltol/cotton candy note, which can be cloying if oversprayed, this calms down after an hour or so and the dry down has an interesting balance of sweet and bitter/woody.

Prunel

On my skin the similarities with Instant Crush are extremely noticeable. This a very potent fragrance that will make most people nose blind to it. I can see how this is a crowd pleaser, it's very good. Performance is nuclear.
This is BY FAR the fragrance I smell the most everywhere I go. BR540 is genuinely everywhere, you can not escape it. While I think this is a very well made fragrance, I got extremely bored of it. Forget Sauvage, this is THE fragrance people wear.

CrisMS

A victim of its own success. I can understand why it's polarizing, so test thoroughly before buying - this one can play tricks on you! You may feel differently about it after a few good wears. I am one of those people who didn't think much of it when I first tried it a few years ago. I thought it was okay, but not a love and the price held me back + the fact that everyone seemed to be wearing it, or clones, dupes, copies etc. I recently decided to purchase the Extrait, since EDP didn't last on me or I was anosmic to it.

It's so hard to describe it. To me it's a sweet, cotton candy scent, but somehow sophisticated and grown up. It's creamy, almondy (not in the marzipan direction), it has density and oomph.
Lasts forever and projects nicely.
Best suited for women.

The Scentimentalist

Magical potion. The hype is actually deserved in this case.

Suzanne loves Perfume

Average mossy leather incense perfume.

Just bought it. I'm disgusted with my complete lack of self control when it comes to perfume and fashion. What is wrong with me, can anyone start a "go fund me" so l can pay my bills this month?
Update to follow. It's a blind buy going off the reviews and notes in this perfume it's got all the heady stuff l enjoy in a perfume, and im a sucker for almondy scents, l do love a beast. Let's see....update to follow.
Update: 11.03.24 Okay so where the hell is the bitter almond at? Its so feint l can barely smell it. I was hoping it would be the dominating note. l dont even know if l like this perfume, its going to have to grow on me. It both intrigues and offends me, its like love me, love me not, love me, love me not, which will it end on, who knows??? I succumbed to the hype expecting a hypnotic poison almond and it didn't deliver. To me this is a very adult leather, moss, smoke, wood, & incense Arabic Muslim spice smell to it. It has a slight medicine note too like something in dental work ive smelled at the hygenist. It has notes that are like opening and smelling the inside of a brand new Chanel handbag, the smell of the finest quality leather and the protector fluids that enhance the leather and its been factory boxed with the smell locked in for months, l smell that in this perfume. Its for the olders 40+ years. It's dark and mysterious, l can't figure out what that background faint, almost alcoholic note is, its a little bit bitter cherry liquer, l dont think it smells like almond at all, but it's going to smell different on each person isn't it? Its alright, but nothing to get too buzzed over. l personally feel that 90% of my perfume collection is way better. Its not really sweet, or creamy in a vanilla way. I wish it was, its a lesson to learn that just because it costs a load of money doesn't mean it's going to be universally amazing. I think foreign men will love smelling this on beautiful classy women. Its a masculine smell to me, not the beast l was led to believe in these reviews. I may try layering it with Chanel no 19 that's a leather smokey mossy beast too but Chanel 19 does it much cleaner this has a bit of a dirty fragrance vibe. I aint knocking that though. Some of the best perfs in history have been a filthy, dirty, naughty bit of gear haven't they? Wink wink 😉...😆 😆 😆
For me its a 4/10 but this score could increase over time if l grow to love it. I feel quite ambivalent about it right now. Thank God l didnt pay full price, id be mad as hell. Following day l still smelled it on my skin after a bath last night and it's on my sweater from yesterday it's making me feel a bit naucious actually. I'm not sure about this at all.

Update: I couldn't do it, it was making me naucious l sold it. Good riddance to this heinous little devil, I've replaced it with 150mls of Hypnotic Poison ❤️

RottigrlNYC

I blind bought a new bottle of this perfume in 2020 during a holiday sale at Maxaroma . I bought it due to hype. I don’t like it. Selling my brand new full bottle for a lot less than at discounters . Message me if u want it

PurpleT

One of the best almond perfume ever! I don't know what it does to me, it's so good and nostalgic, I love it! It's a tiny bit creamier and sweeter than the original. The almonds is perfectly blended and just makes it a bit rounder.

dantek121

The smell is fantastic and the longevity and projection are very good but MFK has crossed the line with their recently announced March 1st, 2024 price increases. 200ml of this for over $1000 after taxes is completely ridiculous and I worry that these houses will keep increasing prices so long as we as a community keep voting in approval with our pockets. I will be going the dupe/inspired route for this scent DNA going forward.

katiesimpsonhair

I sampled the original and this one the extrait and the extrait to me was way better and much better performing, so I bought a bottle. All you need is three sprays if not less and that’s enough! One under chin one on each wrist and it’s strong, this does have a warm body smell, like warm skin but not in a BO way but in a sexy way, so hard to describe. This is sweet almondy, creamy, edible and sexy, woody I crave this scent but I’ve learned my lesson to limit sprays as you can sicken yourself with it,. it’s a beastmode scent that is eternal. This does not do a disappearing act like the OG.it powers on and on. This costs a lot more that the OG but you use a lot less so it goes a looooong way!

lulu169

It's a masterpiece. Ahead of it's time. Groundbreaking milestone in perfumery. Period.🥇🏆

addictpiglet

I’ve had samples of both and the extrait definitely has that body odor smell. It’s like you wore BR540 on a day you didn’t wear deodorant. I love the EDP though, thinking of getting a 11ml refill.

katlovesgourmands

The first time I smelled this I could only describe it as expensive... It smelled so good tho and I noticed I liked the extrait better but I only got a sample of the other one to take home and I couldn't stop thinking about the extrait... Eventually I forked over the money and I have no regrets. There is nothing better than this scent!!! (for me) Its expensive because its the best. I wish they would put it on sale sometime ;) I usually do only one spray and it really lasts all day but its not an in your face fragrance.

To me it smells like browned/burnt sugar that quickly becomes pure amber musk and wood. I think it's the exact right amount of sweetness and it has something about it that feels alluring, maybe that's the ambergris (although the website says its not real ambergris). It's amazing!! I think you can wear it all year and I definitely do. I don't necessarily smell the almond/bitter almond note because I think almond is very distinct and not even similar to this except maybe that they're both gourmands. This perfume is honestly sexy. I love it. I would change nothing.

KokoLikeChanel

love this scent.
i'm aware it's popular amongst many, but, you truly can't beat it.
there is a reason it is as popular as it is and duped so many times because she is indeed, that girl.
it has become a bit redundant since i've owned this scent for quite a while now, the amount of dupes are almost like beating a dead horse.
love that it is unisex, smells great on both men and women.
i do perfer the extrait over the regular version. both are still delightful.
an easy go-to scent and an easy grab off the dresser to spray on.
a perfect scent to wear in the daytime to go shopping or wear in the evening to dinner.
works best in colder weather because it is such a heavy hitter, but i'd still wear this to a yacht party in the summer!
definitely gives a bossy, boujee b*itch.
a forever staple in my collection.
well done MFK ♡‧₊˚

Sunee

I didnt see the hype when I first tried it but after my sister purchased her bottle and I smelt it again.... god was it so good! Everyone says it's so basic but if it's a good scent who cares? I wouldn't stop wearing something just because others did.

layyelisee

Love everything about this but that almond note. I would also like to note that I have almost all of the MFK fragrances & I have the edp and it was extremely underwhelming, even after drenching myself in it. I drenched myself in this version (br540 extrait) and I finally smell that cotton candy sweet scent that people rave about. The smell is way sweeter and nicer than the br540 but that almond note makes it smell a tiny bit repulsive on me. It smells like a nice perfume that’s trying to cover up the smell of literal garbage. Very musty dry down.
The sillage is very intimate. For the price, I’d expect the scent to fill up an entire room.

Overall, I would not repurchase and would recommend MFK’s gentle fluidity gold, oud satin mood, and a la rose from this fragrance house. :)

Kykenj

It smells nearly identical to the original.

Miss_mlc

This has been my signature fragrance for the last 6 years! It is a gorgeous scent and I find myself constantly coming back to this. I first encountered B540 in mecca. I tried both EDP and extrait and fell in love. But I was wary of the price point and decided to get the EDP version. As much as I loved it, the longevity and sillage wasn't there for me. Fortunately, I was able to swap to the extrait and I've never gone back!

I get constant compliments from strangers! I love it so much that I even wear it with body oil on special ocassions for that extra impact. Although it's not needed, I also bought the travel-size version of the EDP to place in my handbag so I can spritz throughout the day and in this constant B540 cloud.

A little goes a long way with the extrait especially if layered with body oil. I spray about 4 sprays in the morning. Perhaps 1 spritz of the EDP throughout the day.

I find this a very unique fragrance that has so much depth and transition to it!

f4iry

so funny watching some people
pretend the smells extremely different from the original, I do agree that this one smells better even though it’s exactly the same. This ones dry down is more mossy.

JaySentz

I can see the appeal of the sweet sweat that smells kinda of like the BO of someone you find attractive. Definitely easy to recognize in the air so you can signal you are rocking 540 or one of the many dupes.

It really does smell like the reviews: Cotton candy dentist office (specifically fluoride rinse and novocaine if you ever got a filling you will know the taste), with a very noticeable clean salty sweaty that really persists (must be from the saffron and ambergris). Had to wash off the sweaty sweetness after a while, not for me hyped or not.

Edit: ok that sweet persistence and crazy sillage are growing on me. Hate to admit it is a like now after my decant was done.

stinksogood

Opens at the dentist's office, slight BO in the mid, ends with a mild musky creaminess. My nose doesn't detect the sweetness that most people love. I wish it did. Glad I only bought a sample.

Claudiaandras13

I get bonbons, then something sharp and cold that makes my nose hurt. It stays sweet and “what in the world is this”; nothing else. Feels linear. It’s been 24 hours, and I couldn’t get it off, that’s how clingy it is. That sharp note reminds me of a men’s deodorant/aftershave that I can’t remember the name of. This fragrance is not for me, although I wanted to, at least, like it. (Can someone please tell me what that sharp note is? I need to know, so I can avoid it.)

cflatorrev

Okay so… this smells delicious BUT it doesn’t last on me because I have the Baccarat Edp and it lasts forever on me. So if you don’t mind that… this is like a sweeter, softer version of the Edp.

LOST_HORIZON

Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait is a woody strawberry candy sweet that has some very intriguing dirty touches. I don't notice the smell of surgical iodine in this one, from the beginning and to the end it is much sweeter than the edp. I love this type of sweetness that is not strict caramel (it is more of a waste strawberry caramel) that is mixed with a very pretty amber-wood. Since it is not a sweetness based on vanilla or cocoa, it is no longer gourmand and is totally different from everything else. A work of art that stands out among many and is certainly more masculine than the eau de parfum. It is very pretty for colder times and has a certain bohemian and endearing air, it is still a happy perfume and not at all gloomy. He has finally conquered me, he has conquered me as strongly as his brother edp conquered me. What is it about this sweetness that attracts so much? Trying to find out, I'm savoring it😊

JulmaJuha

The biggest let-down I've had with fragrances so far. Really poor performance, I can barely smell anything.

What I do smell feels candy-like. For some reason this brings Haltane from PdM to my mind, something that I've heard no one else say. Even if the scent was stronger, I don't think this would be for me.

konga5

To All Who Cannot Smell This on Themselves: Spray a wool coat OR sweater . Hang it in your closet. Let it sit for 12 hours. Open the closet and sniff..... Then let us know what happened.

Bizzy1995

Still very sweet but not as sweet as the OG which I I consider to be a feminine scent. The decrease in sweetness makes me think of this scent as perfectly unisex. The extrait also doesn’t give me the dentist vibes which sometimes the orginal can do. I love the OG but the addition of bitter almond makes this scent literally addicting to me, which is a double edged sword bc it can make me prone to nose blindness. I believe this to be one of the best crafted perfumes of all time.

Ferg1

A classic no matter what people say, the clones will never come close to this and i've tried a lot of them. But i prefer the edp, it's definetly sweeter. The saffron in the Extrait takes a lot of space, find the edp better blended somehow. Both are too good but i got anosmic to the Extrait which pisses me off, after less than 5 minutes i can't smell it on me anymore and at all. I don't care about the compliments i just wan't to smell the fragrance on me as long as possible.

EDIT : after wearing them both for one week, i can not tell which one i prefer at the end, they're both good in their own way.

acidgypsycat

I got a tester of this perfume and I am going to express my very dilettante opinion but I think it's way overhyped. I don't smell much in it except almond and jasmine and this combo, in my opinion, makes it too sweet. It's relatively pleasant (jasmine is usually a safe option when you're trying to create a pleasant smell) and very feminine. I own doTerra jasmine essential oil and it just smells exactly like that.
I don't have much else to say, unfortunately, maybe one day I will get this but it won't be today.

LadyCO

This version of Baccarat Rouge, reminds me of Burberry Her, it is almost a dupe for Burberry her, which does not please me, because when I apply Baccarat, I want to smell like baccarat.
NOT a bad Frangrance, but I prefer the original version.

mmmmgood

LunaFortna's testimony is needed (Ive experienced what she's experienced, too), simply because I cant tell you how many times, Ive seen other folk buy a fragrance that had impressive dupes, but in time they went somewhere and struck a deal with Satan to rain down Holy Hell on all the dupes and the "original-whatever", because a certain something in the stuff, revealed its dark side or just didnt gel with their skin chemistry, in time. This is why I learned the hard way, sometimes its best to sample something and give it a few weeks. Especially if you like frags from Amouage and DS& Durga, and other 'weird' houses, like me...those houses are obviously reputable..but they do have a bunch of scents that are STONE-COLD FREAKISH.

On the perfume at hand, uhhh....BR-540 and all of its concentrations, almost got me. I nearly bit the bait, until I ran across Fiori/Night de Paris. Im sorry, but after I spent a long honeymoon with 'Fiori', there wasnt enough nuance and subtlety in the World to make me run towards BR-540, simply because 'Fiori' did not smell EXACTLY like BR-540. If Im hangin' out at home and I dont have shit to do but jam perfume sprayers up my nose all day, then yea...I can probably find some kind of glitch..or difference between the two. But the 1st time I smelled 'Fiori' and gave it a solid hour to impress me, I got on board with the 'hurry-upness'. As a matter of fact, there's a creaminess (caramel & cedar notes) and warmth that it gives me that I dont get from BR-540 (edp or extrait).

And ultimately, that kept my attention more than the 'whispy-ness" that BR-540 and its concentrations are known for. However, I fully expect BOTH 'Fiori' and BR-540 to become more expensive, in the near future when they are perhaps, discontinued. Especially, 'Fiori/Night de Paris'. Ive seen it happen too many times, where the best dupe changed the game so much that it became nearly as expensive as the shit it was copying. Prada-Luna Rossa Black, went thru that "Im really expensive now!!"-phase, when everybody figured out how much it reminded them of VC&A/Midnight in Paris and Bvlgari Black. 'Queen' by Queen Latifah is going thru that now, given how much folks think it smells like 'Angel' (vintage).

A fragrance has never played with my emotion the way BR540 has -- both the EDP and the extrait version -- and I often hear people say that the extrait is the lesser of two evils. I agree, but... if you're like me, then it won't be enough. Let me just go to the start of my journey with both BR540 EDP and the extrait version. First, I got the Alt dupe, which is called Crystal No. 23. The first time I smelled it, it was magical. Truly. It is a beautiful scent if it continues to stay beautiful. It's sugary, it's rich, it's so unique and not your typical cotton candy type of scent. I adored it. I ordered samples of the EDP and the extrait from the MFK website. I noticed that with the EDP, there was (at this point in time) a very slight hint of latex, rubber glove, balloon, or whatever you want to call it. Just a hint. It didn't scare me away though and I didn't mind it because the other 95% of the fragrance was gorgeous. The extrait version didn't have the latex quality to it at all, and also, I noticed that I would sometimes become anosmic to the EDP but not to the extrait. I adored the extrait. No dentist office / rubber glove smell, no anosmia -- perfect! I fell in love with the scent so I dropped hundreds of dollars on a full size bottle of the extrait. Not only that, but I went ahead and bought several dupes. I won't name them all, but let's just say that I also got five BR540 EDP and extrait dupes, including Cloud by Ariana Grande.

The bliss with BR540 lasted for a few weeks. Then, without warning, I could smell the latex accord more and more. This time, it was more of a burnt latex smell. Like a burnt medical glove smell, that's the best way I can describe it. It was in the EDP, the extrait, in all the dupes, and even in Cloud. Sure, I noticed it from time to time before, in tiny miniscule doses, and didn't mind it before. As time went on, the fragrance never switched back to being the beautiful masterpiece that it was when I first encountered it. To me, it almost reminded me of an optical illusion. When you first look at an optical illusion, your mind gets tricked into thinking that it's seeing something it's not. However, once you notice what's creating the illusion, you can't really look at the same picture again and be duped into thinking it's just an illusion. Do you guys remember the great dress fiasco that broke the internet way back when? I'm talking about the blue and black / white and gold dress. Well, when I first saw that photo, the dress was white and gold. I remember that I got up, left the room for a few hours, and came back. I looked at it again and it was blue and black! It has never once switched back to being white and gold once I realized it was actually blue and black. I'll check every now and then but it still remains the same. Similarly, I revisit BR540 and all of its dupes, hoping that the beautiful smell reverts back to what it once was. And while I can sense that there's beauty underneath, there is now an overwhelming blanket of burnt latex that makes the fragrance unwearable for me. I've given it a solid year to see if it's going to change or not, and it hasn't, so I'm considering decluttering it.

My advice? I'm not making this post to bash the fragrance or hate on it -- not at all! In fact, if the fragrance works on you, then I am instead envious because I've smelled how gorgeous it can be. However, I was a cautionary tale, and I want others to be wary. Please don't smell it once or twice, fall in love with it, and run out to get a full size bottle of the real stuff. My advice is to buy samples or decants of it and have enough to really live with it for a few months. If it still smells good to your nose after all that time, I'd say that it's safe to transition to a full size bottle, but definitely be on guard. This started out an absolutely gorgeous scent to my nose, and I have dealt with everything from temporary anosmia to dealing with the nastiest smelling note accords in both the EDP and the extrait version, as well as all corresponding dupes, and I definitely didn't feel this way in the beginning. I never would have bought a full sized bottle if I had known that the tables would have turned like this.

Medical, sweet but cold. Like the pharmacies I remember from my childhood. I never liked it.

tamovicha

This truly lasts 24hrs on the skin. The first 4 you can really smell the bandaids, but the last 20 are really good. Its hard to describe what baccarat smells like. Its just a very good smell. A lot of people become anosmic to this very fast (this is less the case for me with the extrait than the eau de parfum) and say they cant feel it anymore, but believe you me - everyone else absolutely can smell you, so dont go overboard with the baccarat at the home depot.

MarineVardanyan

one of my favorite fragrances, luxurious and impressive

Goldena35

This has a smoother sweetness to it than the EDP for me. I definitely pick up that almond (which is a note I love). But I will admit I am missing the jagged 🌲. Some of the “medicinal” aspect of the OG has been scrubbed to make the smooth edges of the Extrait. Which, again, I miss. Beautiful perfume though. From the votes above I am expecting a beast. Bring her on…

I got bored of both versions after a while but recently decided to spray this one as my SOTD and fell back in love with it. I'll probably go off it again if I use it too often and I think because it became so popular I wanted to wear things I knew nobody else would be wearing but that's silly. I got complimented immediately when I wore this recently and it was even better with a couple of sprays of Kismet Angel (Angel's Share dupe) on my chest. I saw that combo on tiktok and it is absolutely gorgeous. This layers well with a few other scents too, Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka being one.

To me this smells like the bottle looks, like a shiny ruby red gemstone. It's sweet, syrupy, medicinal (though it's nowhere near as "dentist office" smelling as the edp in my opinion but my mother said it smells like Deep Heat 😅), cherry flavoured candy floss, burnt sugar and just so good. At first it does have a bit of a rubbery tyre smell or what some people pick up as petrol/gasoline but that doesn't last for long.

The performance is excellent, lasts for a good 12 hours on my skin and forever on clothes. I sprayed it on one of my oodies and when I put it on weeks later it still smelled of the perfume. Projection and sillage are great too.

I’m here to clarify something with the price complainers.

I paid $360USD for a 1 ounce bottle of brand new Chanel N°5 Parfum.
Baccarat Rouge is available in Parfum concentration in a 1.2 ounce bottle for only $280 a bottle.

So basically, it isn’t cheap, but it is cheaper than ANY Chanel or Dior fragrance in terms of price per ounce in regards to Parfum Extrait concentration.

J’adore Extrait is now $250 for a 0.5 ounce bottle.
Chanel N°5 is now $280 for a 0.5 ounce bottle.

So really…. This fragrance is actually cheap in terms of price per ounce when you compare apples to apples in a perfume concentration point of view.
In order to get more than 1 fluid ounce of J’adore or any of the Chanel Extraits, I would be paying over $500 an ounce as neither have 1 ounce bottles available right now.
Needless to say, I WILL buy this before I buy another Dior or Chanel as their prices are VULGAR.
To top it off, the person who created this fragrance is the master perfumer of Dior now, so it’s like I’m buying from the brand I love the most but from the actual person who made me love the brand.

Meli567

@MrMrBrian Look up "olfactory fatigue." That could be what you're experiencing. It's really common with BR540. Other people probably do smell you. Sorry that you can't smell yourself. It's annoying. But most likely that's what you're experiencing. You can read tips on how to overcome it. (Take a break from the perfume for a while and don't hang out in the "clouds" of perfume after you spray. Spray yourself then leave the room.)

Filigree4Life

I am not a connoisseur, so let me just share my plebeian impressions in a stream of conscientious fashion. It smells rich, like a man comfortable with luxury and who always wears expensive cologne, cashmere and a heavy ring. I picture smelling this on a wealthy retired dentist of middle-eastern origin. He owns a chain of clinics and possibly collects art in his retirement now. I don’t catch all the notes listed, but get an overall woody, balsamic impression softened and rounded by ambergris and quality musk. I don’t find this the least bit feminine. It is feminine to me only in the sense of the way Arabic men are comfortable getting waxed and overtly wearing luxury. On the flip side, I also felt momentarily transported back to early 2000s Hollister or Abercrombie stores, whatever their fragrance was/is. I see a lot of people saying it projects in a beastly fashion. I found it an intimate skin scent. As in a “come hither to my fancy hotel room” at the cosmetic dentistry and laser spa convention kind of way. And you almost want to go with him because the smell is warm, intimate, rich and seductive. Yes, once other people mentioned, I really did catch that sweet fluoride note as soon as I smelled. I wouldn’t have known how to describe it, but that’s it. If this retired dentist were an old hippie DO podiatrist instead, he’d wear Diptyque Tam Dao.
EDIT: So this actually is a BEAST OF SILAGE AND PROJECTION. Beware. I spilled a few drops of this stuff from a decant in my bathroom and my whole upstairs is BR 450. It’s in the air and I even taste it when I brush my teeth. You wear it and have the illusion of intimacy and a skin scent, but in reality this bisexual powerhouse is doing everyone in town. The retired dental business man is not who he appears. Caution and wear protection. This scent stays around and may land you in an embarrassment at the doctor's.

karinavi

yes it has the dentists' office smell but i can see why people don't mind that or even like it. i've never smelled the edp and went straight for the extrait, but i highly doubt that the extrait is twice as good as its predecessor to justify the massive increase of an already ridiculous price. not really wowed by this, but i definitely acknowledge that it smells kinda nice and is mass appealing (clearly, seeing its extreme popularity). overrated as hell for sure tho.

katiesimpsonhair

This is amazing and so addictive! The extrait version is very costly but the way I see it is it’s like you have two bottles of the original condensed into one bottle, you only need a few sprays of this and it’s nuclear. It will last you for ever. Costly but well worth it. his scent is unreal ! I also own Ariana Grande cloud which is sweet soft and lovely but lacks the depth, longevity that I was craving. Cloud is like candy floss and BR540 extrait is like indulgent custard and it’s heavenly.

MrMrBrian

I don’t understand this I have it. It’s real. It’s authentic & It’s the extrait version which with all the other fragrances I own from this house are stronger in the extrait form. But with this I cannot smell it on myself from the time I apply it..I’m told by others online & by people who sell this one to trust that the others around you DO smell it!! But that just doesn’t do nothing for me….And I have sampled the parfum version a couple times & It in fact seems to be more noticeable now on skin vs The extrait. Truth is I was well over this fragrance & every house that tries to dupe and create twists around it almost 2 years ago

AlexKouss

Love this fragrance when I first smelled this I loved, loved it that much that 2 months later I bought . I don’t get why allot of women wear this and say it is more on the feminine side it is for sure unisex but it is labeled as a men’s fragrance idk why

isabellerose

When I first sniffed eau de parfum, not extrait, my first reaction was "Ohh.. I see why it is so loved and popular. I don't think it's for me but I totally get the appeal." It smelled rich, like a Leo woman in fur and statement gold jewellery, exuberant, flamboyant... I didn't try it on skin.
Today, because many said that extrait is superior, I tested it on the strip and on skin. On the strip, it had me fooled that, though I wasn't getting the feeling I had with EDP, that it still had warmth and strength..and a possibility to develop into something that still might not be me, but might be me on occasion, if you know what I mean. Instead, I've been scrubbing my wrist trying to remove it because it suffocating and just plain awful!!! The strip went straight into trash. I don't know what went wrong because it's not just my skin. It smells just as bad on the test strip. I dont get the hype.

Brotherhoodofmettle

Almond note pops, definetly more on the feminine side, very popular in the sense you'll smell this here and there from people wearing it. Not a fan but id keep it in my collection until I'm ready to sell

StinkyKat

I love this perfume but I think I sadly got "noseblinded" to it and I cannot smell it like I used to. It was beast mode before I could still smell it for days on my scarves or coats but I wore this today after like 3 months and had to spray 10 times everywhere (skin and clothes) and still couldn't smell it like I used to. Possible explanation:
-Maybe a cold or covid but I am healthy and I can smell other perfumes.
-I got "noseblinded" to MFK by Montale? Very sweet, very oriental and powerful fragrances.
-My bottle is 2 years old and always kept in a dark and cool place in my closet. Maybe it expired?
Can someone please help me out? What do I do?
Your truly
Stinky 🐈

maralina

Its SO GOOD!! Lived up to the hype. It’s definitely complex and has clear notes, but theyre all so soft and smooth and blend impeccably well together. the bitter almond note is sweet enough to smell like caramel for me. Similarly, the jasmine is also a sweet honeyed jasmine scent. All layers have a soft sweetness to them, but i can smell the musk & florals. Surprisingly, i also get a whiff of mint as a base note. It’s a fresh surprise but i love it.
I think this perfume can definitely function as unisex, but it is on the sweet side so it leans more feminine.

calamusdraco4

It’s a beast. Believe me I’ve tried it and clones don’t come near it for quality, sillage, projection etc. There’s a reason it’s expensive. I will say though it has been hyped up a little but it is very nice.

sykcore

so incredibly overrated

AH89

No clones come close to this in my opinion. Its a shame that so many people wear the DNA as a 24/7/365 scent, it diminishes its value and uniqueness.

ahangk

The best clone for this fragrance is Clint Rouge by Paris.

victoriapm

My chemistry does not vibe with this fragrance. I was told by one friend I smelled like a fresh pack of paper haha. However I was also asked by a guest what fragrance I was wearing because she liked it. Despite the mixed reviews from others, I did not enjoy this fragrance. Very disappointing considering the hype, but I am glad I sampled it before committing to a full bottle. Cheers.

yunapie

Went to Selfridges to test Bkr540 extrait and the OG. Can't smell both of them. I was walking around and also testing some Byredo and Maison Martin Margiela ones, and then tried the Bkr540 extrait. Both my friend and I could barely smell the OG and extrait, and my friend was so disappointed that I was hyping him up about this fragrance but we could barely smell it. After we left the mall, I was on my way home when I smelt my wrist and could get just a veeeery faint smell of it on my wrist, whereas the other wrist which I sprayed Elie Saab Le Parfum white on, was radiating the scent so strongly. But BKR540 was struggling so hard to project anything. But from whatever I could smell from it, I really think it sucks as compared to the dupe Milton Lloyd Colour me Dark Red, which I have and I adore. I think that smells sooooo much stronger than BKR540 and smells 95% similar to my nose. Better than Cloud, Cloud 2.0, Ana Abiyedh Rouge in my opinion.

maplesyrup

@eaudemale: It is my understanding that the ambroxan used in this fragrance causes some people to experience nose blindness. The smell receptors in your nose are likely unable to detect some or all of molecules emitted from this scent. I normally don't have any issue with fragrances that contain ambroxan, but with this one I do. There are no shortage of fragheads that have had the same experience as you. I hope my explanation helps. Cheers.

eaudemale

The way I love this stuff, I got a 200ml and one day I became nose blind to it. Now I spray it, smell it faintly for 5 mins and then can’t smell it anymore while everyone around me asphyxiates. I never even got covid. Any of you has this issue ?

pizha

smells great but there is 50 billion dupes of this and the edp ur better off just copping those since the performance is practically the same

Listen:
I’ve repurchased the regular BR for the past 5 years or more (because I loved it of course) and have never left a review, there’s plenty of favorites that I’ve never left a review on. I feel like everything that needs to be said about certain scents has been said already by the entire world or maybe I just don’t feel like it and will review them in the later future. I later purchased the hair mist (actually very nice even if I hardly use it), the body oil (lighter scent non greasy) and I’ve also had this extrait for several years too but the same loved but ignored bottle (I haven’t finished a full bottle of this like the original BR). But I hadn’t used both of them for a good long while, so I decided to wear the extrait for Thanksgiving day that I was hosting at my home for the first time. I figured my mom and aunts would be using BR540 so I might as well blend in as to not get a headache from it all, but I still went awol with the extrait version….. and they loved it. I honestly didn’t think it would stand out much within all the BR wearing family members but they all asked me what I was wearing 😂😂😂😂. Welp…. I think I’ll start using it more often because everyone always expects me to smell like BR anyway since it was my signature scent for years

Everyone I know relates BR to me since I wore it since it came out and I feel like it’s just a part of me but this Extrait version is just more my type I think. The extrait smells like BR but with an additional peppery note on me (maybe a peppery almond???) I know that pepper is not a listed note but that’s what people and I smell in me, like metallic sparkling pepper with almost mineralish facets which in my opinion make it more unisex and cool. Last alllll day long on skin, longer than the original and will remain on clothes untill you wash it.

DSV03

Everything about the extrait is just 10000x better than the regular baccarat. This fixes the latex glove smell, the extremely sweet burnt sugar smell. It’s more longer lasting and way better mix then the og.its also more dark and masculine. This is a masterpiece and must have in a collection.

SweetEnigmaticSoul

It’s nice and I love this one better than the other one without extrait.

Wonderful scent and man or woman could wear it. I love the woodsy sweet cologne scent. That’s what I smell. Would I repurchase it with my coins NO, but would most definitely accept it with opened arms from a loved one.
Lol 🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭😭

MimikyuAndMe

My Honest Review - Bacarat Rouge 540 Extrait dP
My skin type - warm toned and normal-oily skin. Perfume usually has a hard time projecting on me.
My usual preferences: Chanel 5, Chanel 19, Reve D’Ossian.

First impressions: woody, sweet and headier than the edp. Combines to a spiced, woodsy similarly strawberry like note as BR540 edp. Still clinical, still metallic but with more of the promised woods and florals.

Later impression: like BR540 edp it projects more over time. Less clinical and more woody fruit 2 hours in. Skin scent around here too.

Lasting impression: again, Its nice. It isnt worth the price point, and it isnt anything new. Projects much more than the EDP from the first spritz.
Its a sweet perfume -despite boasting florals and woods it smells fruity, expensive fruity. The drydown is heady but not overpowering. Slightly spiced woods. And wouldn't interfere with scents around you.

Is it worth it: not in my opinion.
Its a high price for something not hugely innovative. Its lovely, but expensive.

pilotdc

Finally able to sample this after smelling dupes and not liking them. Unfortunately, I don't like this one either. I get the latex profile with a bit of sweetness. I realize this is the scent I've smelled on other people and have found myself holding my breath around them so I don't smell them as much. Please don't overspray this one, folks, for the sake of people like me.

minnesotagal

I found the musky, animalic notes overpowering. I got nauseated wearing this - reminded me of the smell of animal fur. Thankfully I just ordered a sample vial.

CloudAtlas77

Maybe the greatest fragrance in the world! Amazing upgrade from the original EDP, with the bitter almond and slight sweetness added. The scent is filled with sensual romance and desire, that is going to break lot of hearts, but also unite some! Take everything you have in your piggy bank and change your life 😉

km9699

On me, the extrait has a sharp cedar opening tempered by a touch of sweet almond and ambergris. The dry-down, which arrives 2-3 hours later on me, is absolutely divine with burnt sugar, vanilla, and jasmine overlaying a honeyed amber note. Overall I find this to be a touch more complex and less medicinal / cough syrup-y than the EDP. I only need one spray of the extrait at a time to experience its maximum effect, and longevity is easily over 18 hours, so a little bit goes a looooooong way. Over the last few years since I first bought this in 2020, I've tried several dupes and perfumes with similar DNA but there is nothing quite like it.

Deliza1997

It is BR540 but more gourmand and heavier maybe due to the almond. It is eternal . I literary washed my clothes and still colud find a faint smell that lingers. Some say it is masculine but I find it perfectly unisex where the original is more feminine. I will say it is Br540 for a more mature demographic. Still a work of art.

Brian Harkema

very sweet, very cloying, smells like medicine and burned sugar, I guess my skin absolutely rejects it

teh

I just need to return here to emphasize how extraordinary this Extrait de Parfum is! I wore it out today, as usual, with just ONE spray behind my neck, at around 1 pm. I went out for lunch, some shopping, had dinner, and even did a late-night workout. Around 5 pm, I sampled the new Creed Aventus Absolu on my left arm and had Oud For Greatness on my right arm simultaneously. It's now midnight, and both Absolu Aventus and Oud For Greatness have completely faded from my skin. However, to my amazement, BR540 Extrait de Parfum is still lingering, and in its full glory with that addictive amboxan drydown!

I wouldn't recommend the EDP version as it comes across as a bit juvenile and screechy, but THIS Extrait is just out of this world. I will definitely go for the 250ml next once I finish my current bottle!!!

veronicaco0102

I'M INLOVE WITH THIS PERFUME! so I both a tester and it was a beast! I sprayed it before I went to class. and for two weeks our classroom smells BR540 specially the chair I'm seating at. so I decided to bought the biggest bottle at maxaroma. but this one doesn't have the beast mode that I was expecting and smells more chemicals and the glove like smell. I'm returning my perfume but I'm thinking of buying it from the MFK website.

Do you guys have tried to buy a perfume from MFK? and what other retailer can I buy this one ? can someone PM me for it.

0xrafae

Baccarat Rouge Parfum is a feminine fragrance that falls a bit short of the hype surrounding it. I expected something bolder, but instead it feels restrained, like it's not fully embracing its potential. However, it does have a soft, creamy vibe that reminds me of yogurt ice cream, my favorite flavor. The fragrance's subtlety is intriguing, as if it's trying to step back and let the wearer shine through. This is a clever approach, and I appreciate the artistry behind it. But ultimately, Baccarat Parfum feels too subdued and washed out for my taste.

churinl

I just don't get it, and believe me I've tried.

Love & fragrance#01

I have a love/hate relationship with BR540. I own the extrait de perfume and I love it on myself. It matches really good with my skin chemistry. On myself it smells sweet, sophisticated a little nutty and kind of clean. I also own the hairmist which I even love more. However, if I smell this on other people I have to gag most of the time. I smell it everywhere and i think most of them are wearing dupes OR spraying it on themselves while sweating, not have taken a shower etc. etc. I really can’t stand that smell of perfume mixed with stink sweat ughh. That’s why I have a love/hate relationship with this. But overall I think it’s a really good perfume with a great performance if used with the right skin chemistry.

Heathermarie8617

I cannot believe I haven't tried the Extrait before today because I REALLY like this! I struggle with the EDP but this is so smooth and sweet. I don't get too much of that "medicinal" vibe with this! Oh this is glorious...I need a FB asap.

Jennypye

wow, what an absolute masterpiece. It pairs so well with many of my fragrances and I just can't get enough of it.

Will be purchasing FB soon - can't wait

Jlsn

I only have this because the hubby has been buying this for me for the last 2 years(?).
I really dont care much for perfume. But this is crazy. I get feedbacks and questions all the time of what I'm wearing. Like stop you in your tracks just to ask you kind. I work for an international airline and this gets a lot of positive feedback. I only do 3-4 spritz before flight briefing/ departure and i still get questions about it after a 13 hr flt. No retouch! I can still smell it if my clothes were in the laundry hamper. I have been asked so many times to write it down in paper so that they can look and try it themselves, from different nationalities. So it is safe to say that this is a well liked scent profile across the board. I am respectful when it comes to people saying they can smell me, always mindful and apoligizing and asking if they find it too strong for them but I have not come across anyone not liking it on me. Probably my body chemistry works well with it? I dont know.

poirot303

I fully expected this to be my next signature scent based on the reviews here. Unfortunately, I would prefer more woody elements to balance out the sweetness in this scent. While it’s more balanced than Baccarat Rouge 540, the extrait could could have been improved by adding more notes like sandalwood, cinnamon or patchouli. On my skin, all I really smelled with both compilations was burnt sugar. Bummed!

Honeyes

I got the sample of it, it smells like sweet cotton candy in strawberry flavour. All I can smell is sweetness; no wood, no amber, no musk, no layers, no depth. Perhaps it might be unfair to judge it based on the sample, as perfume kept in sealed glass bottle always smells better than the samples.

JamesGamez

I want to be buried in this…..
It’s creamy, sweet, a bit bitter,
It’s loud and lasts forever. This is worth the asking price. What other fragrances can’t do baccarat checks all the boxes.

auror

Too spicy for my taste. Very adult, charismatic and strong. Would be good in winter and autumn. Unisex.

THE SWEET & SOFT STORM

With this "Rouge 540", I learned how a name that would fit very well with a model of any Ferrari car, plus the extra load given by the title "Extrait", raises the expectations of any perfume. After so many comments from my "perfume friends", I decided to give it a go with a test.
It can be regarded as a sweet fragrance, half intimate, half mild, half animalistic, very sensual and almost edible. The evoked scents pass through bitter almond candy, Alicante clod, milk caramels and pineapple barbecue, such is the richness of the sweet aromas aroused.
The behaviour of this fragrance is similar to that of a hurricane.
It begins and evolves in a simple, almost embarrassed way, with a greedy almond and saffron somewhat hesitant between showing some sweetness or revealing a more earthy, leathery mood. It starts off as a simple suggestion, but then it's impossible not to appreciate the aroma that gradually emanates from your skin over time. Whoever walks past us always looks back, but looks through us, as if searching for the source of this almost divine emanation. And then the scent grows and grows, supported by lighter notes of jasmine and cedar, but above all by a sumptuous enveloping ambergris that sticks to the skin and melts into it.
It is a unique perfume and, bearing in mind its pungency, it is distinct even from the almondless "regular" 540 EDP. Its longevity and sillage are somewhat above average, lasting close to 8~9 hours with more than 6~8 feet top sillage, and almost three hours projection after three sprays on the back of my hand.
In my closet, this bottle will be parked among those 9 or 10 bottles that I do not let anyone try, just look at.
It can be considered a masterpiece for having one of the best amber, saffron and ambergris notes I have ever experienced.
How does this Ferrari 540 handle twisty roads?
___________
- Scent Opening: 10,0 (sweet perfection)
- Scent Drydown: 9.0 (the drydown becomes less unique if compared with the opening perfection)
- Longevity: 8.5 (slightly above average, up to 8~9 hours with 3 sprays)
- Sillage: 8.5 (slightly above average, up to 7~8 feet with 3 sprays)
- Uniqueness: 10.0 (I cannot think of any other to compare it besides the EDP version. As far as clones are concerned there is currently a myriad of them)
- Wearability: 8.5 (Spring + Winter days + Fall + Summer nights)
- Versatility: 9.0 (almost everywhere except the gym and the seaside)
- Compliments: 9.5 (just my daughter does not like it)
- Quality: 9.5 (quality ingredients; excellent packaging and Stitch bottle)
- Presentation: 9.0 (High standard but not one of the best bunch)
- Price: 4.0 (£300 ~ $425 for 70ml)
__________
Overall rating: 8.67/10.0
between 7 and 8 =above average;
between 8 and 9 = recommended;
bigger than 9 = don't miss it;

Opinion: Near perfection at a price.
Recommended? Yes but never as a blind purchase. Do try it before any buying attempt. Play on the safe side and don't risk paying such a high amount for a fragrance that you may park in the back of your closet.

A masterpiece. Tried it a few months ago and just loved it but couldn't justify the price. Tried again today at Mecca and ordered the 200ml flacon as only the 70ml was in stock. The delightful sales assistant gave me a 5ml sample to last me until mine arrives. Just wafted around me all day and lasted even through my evening shower. Notes of caramelised sugar but not as sweet, warm and toasty. Difficult to describe but not like any other fragrance. I can't help wondering if those who find it doesn't last or actively dislike it are experiencing fakes? Each to their own of course, but for me it's delicious.
Edit: Received my beautiful glowing red bottle today.

I really. like it in other people, but in my skin I get too much of the dentist's waiting room smell. I know it is the saffron, but my brain recognizes this perfume as dentist's waiting room with cotton candy, and while I don't hate it I also don't like it as my smell.

I have read that you need to let the bottle rest some times, so I will revisit it. But it is sad when your body chemistry doesn't let you enjoy the perfumes that you enjoy in other people.

CrissyCK

This, sir, is a masterpiece. I own the extrait. First time I sprayed, it came across medicinal and I didn’t like it initially. Once it settled, it became the most beautiful, fruity and nutty scent. There are so many copycats of this unfortunately, but you can definitely tell the difference. This one stands out by far. It is absolute art. This is so perfectly and beautifully blended. This perfume made me start appreciating fragrances.

You only need 1-2 sprays and it will stay on your clothes and hair FOREVER.

I live in a moderate sized city and thankfully it’s not often I smell it on anyone else. I love being one of very few wearing the real thing and it definitely gets the attention it deserves.

Fruit-chan

It has the amazing nostalgic smell of video stores I went as a child to rent video tapes and later dvds.
It brings back memories.
Not as strong and sweet as the original, but beautiful nevertheless.

mmaggi

The scent is so popular. There must be at least 3 different women wearing at my gym every day which leads me to believe they're wearing clone versions.

Look.... I'm all for live and let live. But for crying out loud, this scent is NOT a 365/24/7 scent! It's a cool weather scent to be worn preferably at night. I couldn't believe how many times I smelled it in 90 degree weather during the day. It boggles my mind why anyone would want to wear this on a hot summer day. Get a nice citrus based scent for the summer! Geez.

SBNYC

I don’t understand the hype. No wonder this has so many dupes out there.
I have a few samples, both the regular and the Extrait, also I purchased from the MFK official website two travel size for more than $100
Such a waste. There are so much more sophisticated niche fragrances out there.
Or even get one of the dupes if you are into sugary / almond/ sweet scents

casualopinions

I just rizz'd myself wearing this, thats how good this sh*t is.

edit: but I prefer the edp
edit part 2: i lied this shid goes stupid

aabisogun

I love the Oud and musk mix with amber and jasmine. The scent lasts long and leans masculine in my opinion.
This scent is classy, bold and confident, perfect for evenings and cooler weather, but you can also pull it off in an air conditioned room in summer.
It’s rather expensive though, and I am not sure it’s worth the price tag. Perhaps the next time someone asks what you want for Christmas or for your birthday……?

Masterpiece. Compliment getter. Anytime I switch up fragrances and go back to this, the compliments that lacked come right back. From strangers, coworkers, family. A couple dupes are close but not the same. I get the real thing and mix with a little fake stuff to stretch the real juice longer. A++++
To me, very different from edp, which is strange and I wonder why they didn’t change the name as it’s a different scent, and not just stronger. The almond and saffron make it fire. Or burning crystals lol

tristan1973

It is a masterpiece, but like always with the good fragrances, you can smell it everywhere.

MidwestMadMan

Incredible scent. I don’t wear this str8. I wear this layered over Dior Savage Elixir and Dior Savage Eau de Parfum. It’s an amazing combination I think. Not overpowering and the combination seems to last forever.

Biliana

Adorable scent, but an overall disappointment: it lasts about an hour, and in these terms, it's insanely overpriced. I have both this one and the EDP, but the second lasts a bit more.

fraghead15

There's nothing like it! I'll always love this perfume. One day it will be apart of my collection.

RXQM

Smells very similar to the original, just alot more animalic. I smelled it on my skin after a couple of hours and it smelled like feces

franchizzy

Things to note before I’ll actually review this. If you think this is nauseating then definitely don’t go buy Kalan. I can see the Kalan comparisons but both are still different. Very airy scent, you’ll go nose blind quick but this definitely lingers pretty hard. MFK certainly appears to have set a trend with this one. So far for me it doesn’t deserve hate at all but all for me it’s not a masterpiece, but it’s very close. I’ll revisit this. Totally unisex for this one btw. Also very red feeling in regards to color. Currently visual is marshmallows and graham crackers no chocolate with a light fire in the background. With Fall around the corner this is perfect but I’m sure you can wear this anytime. I seem to remember the nose blind thing happening a lot when Aventus first came out, no this. I wouldn’t be surprised if I consider this a masterpiece once I revisit this. I also think as time goes on the juice in the bottle will intensify. These are the scents that create conversation, and debate. Usually these scents are considered masterful.

MattRotar

Everything the edp lacks, extrait makes up for IMO. Its more masculine, theres no "latexy" smell in the opening, its way longer lasting, denser, woodier and overall just more interesting. It still smells like baccarat rouge for sure, but it goes about the dna in a different way. The edp screams the first 3 hours and then kinda settles. After that, it lasts for another 5 hours and thats it. The extrait on the other hand, never pushes as hard, but it just lasts and lasts for like 12+ hours. You think its gone, then you randomly get another whiff and you’re like “o ok definitely still here”. You could almost call it magical. :)

Chatulie

I bought Baccarat Extrait de parfum and Baccarat Rouge 540 edp in June directly from franciskurkdjian.com. They both last incredibly long and have a good sillage. Perfect quality. I received a lot of samples as a gift for the two Baccarat orders, so I also discovered the Aqua Cologne Forte series, and since then I have bought all four and two more Kurkdjians. For summer, instead of baccarat, I use the Aqua Cologne Forte series, brilliant scents.

Exizt

To be honest, this is a masterpiece, no matter what people say about it. It smells amazing and perfect to wear for special occasions or date nights. Whenever i wear this fragrance, it gives me joy and a boost of confidence.

naiaa

Is it just me or does this perfume has no fragrance? I can never smell anything on me when i spray the sample on both me and the paper... a pity because I really love nutty, almond notes... :(

jyruscreed

If anyone has this and is willing to trade/sell it, please message me!

Binst145

I got into fragrances through my love of Burberry Her EdP. As I heard that Her was apparently similar to BR540 I headed out to find it. (I somehow had never smelled it) BR540 EdP was not a love at first smell, at first it smelled very medicinal to me, but I like it now. When I smelled the Extrait for the first time however, I was smitten. It was so much richer and just amazing. I bought a bottle and am currently letting it macerate, as I found the tester in the shop was even denser than the new bottle I purchased. It is such a unique smell, and while there are a ton of perfumes with the same DNA, I still prefer the Extrait which I also keep for special occasions.

It is such an amazing sweet, but nit too sweet, nutty, woody, slightly spicy fragrance that I will keep wearing. I know a lot of people stopped wearing it, as too many people smell like it, but I wear fragrances that make me feel good.

matildavln

First of all, me and my boyfriend are both perfume lovers and NONE of us usually like gourmand smells.
That is the reason why I was never willing to try it out as I thought it'll trigger my migraine and would be too cloying.
That all changed when I received a sample of Baccarat Rouge Extrait when I bought my love at first sniff Amyris Femme Extrait.
I tried and couldn't stop smelling myself, my boyfriend was so obsessed by the smell that he insisted of trying it himself as well. I know it has a similar scent profile to many perfume but none of them are real dupes in my opinion. It really does have an addicting power.
The bitter almond opening is so great and it settles in a beautiful musky but still ambery, delicious smell.
It also lasts for AGES even after showering!

That'll be my next purchase for sure but we got to save up a bit first because this bad boy's certainly expensive.

sabertooth_salem

The original is truly something, but I like the extrait more. The almond note really complements the fragrance and makes it lean a bit more unisex/masculine. It is also a jammier sweetness, as if someone boiled down BR540 EDP into a simple syrup and added a few drops of almond extract. It performs differently as well. It does not project and waft like the EDP -- it sits closer to the skin, more viscous. This is my answer to BR540's ubiquity.

CosmicHorror

So the heavy subject first. It's expensive. But on my skin it has a good longevity and silage using the extrait I can get away with 1 spray and a half assed push on the atomizer and still smell nice throughout the day without someone saying it's offensive. Sweet, Floral, woody lightly musky with a certain bitter dry grass note from the saffron. Keep in mind however, just because *you* cant smell it anymore doesn't mean that others cant. I'm not sure if it's the ambroxan but I go noseblind to this scent super easily which is a shame since I like to smell the perfumes i wear throughout the day and this one is a favorite but again, its usually a wearer only issue. Worth the hype.

Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
🪵💐🍬

Definitely a luxury scent!

BR540 is an extremely sweet and fruity fragrance: I get the vibe of CHERRIES lollipops crumbs.

It feels nutty, but not too dessert-ish or Gourmand and even though it’s not declared I feel a hint of vanilla.

Is it floral? Definitely, and it’s at this point that its feminine side shines through.

The price is a matter of conscience and of course of budget, however the avalanche of clones has affected its exclusivity.

In summary, it is an excellent perfume, very classy and high quality.

Best wear for outdoor activities during the coldest nights of the year.

Baccarat rouge 540 extrait is a piece of art. I haven't come across any dupe that execute all those nuances of real thing. People who compare it to Cloud must be nose blind. It's sweet, seductive, complex, intoxicating and addictive to me. Stayes forever on clothes. I will try to have it always in my collection. Bought a 70 ml bottle and judging by its performance should last me for good few years. For me is a special occasion perfume, but not necessarily big events just moments special to me.

BKrems

Finally smelled it and wow. You have to be crazy to spend this kind of money on this.

Nice? Yes.

Best I've ever smelled? Not even close.

This perfume/cologne is a liquid di** measuring contest that nobody wins. You've been warned

natjosep

Everyone wears this scent, but it's still a standout. It's just enchanting.

This is my second MFK bottle. Grand Soir was the first. I love both.

Would say that both are in the unisex universe. I wear Baccarat when I'm leaning more feminine and Gran Soir when leaning more masculine.

Myrtillajus

Well what about Baccarat Rouge … it enchants me. I really like it and my nose is not intrusive, but it is perceived by those around me (many have asked me what perfume I was wearing). The opening is very strong but then comes a hint that reminds me of a delicious caramelized almond. Very good Dry Down, sweet but not cloying. Marvelous.

Rose2002

This fragrance is a piece of art! Sweetness and bitterness. elegance and luxury. I cannot stop using it! Love it so much!

mostafa385

Not a unique smell by any stretch, actually it instantly reminded me with sweet local colognes.
I am not denying the quality in the scent but I expect something unique for 500$ + I can see 3/4 clones on the market 70/80% close with fraction of the price. Performance is ok but not beast mode imo.
From the same brand, I liked Grans Soir much much more.

Whateverwhocares

Master crafted sweet bomb 💣. Perfectly sweet ambergris over a bitter, nutty, floral accord. This version is better for men as there’s a mild musky undertone that really adds depth and density to the original scent profile. This version is 😍.

AngelicFragrance

After all the hype I bought myself a tester, and to my disappointed it smells pretty generic. It smells boring, like it could be any other perfume. In fact Ariana Grande's perfume Cloud smells almost exactly like this. It is great for layering but otherwise not much special about it. Also way too expensive for the scent.

kokoma1009

A really, unique and classy scent. The bitter almond note beats the edp by miles which makes the edp lighter and easy for daily use. Extremely intoxicating and fills up the room. Longevity is insane too and imo worth all the hype. I wish I didn't love it so much due to the price tag but I would always want to have it in my collection.

nurtenka

What a beautiful, classy scent. It's sweet, but not in a childish way. it has depth and smokiness at the drydown, which I really admire and love. And that's what all the dupes lack.

If you're not into perfumes and don't have a developed nose probably wouldn't notice the difference between MFK540 Extrait and the most famous clones.

Crisp&Clean

Love at first sniff! I remember the first time I sprayed it on and smelled it, I said now I see the hype for this. It’s really gorgeous and delicious smelling. It lasts long especially when sprayed on clothes. My 70ml bottle is almost done so I’m rationing it.

Cassandre Paon

Finally tried it on skin today in a luxury department store (not the best conditions i know) and it's litteraly Cloud by Ariana Grande.
But I prefer Cloud a lot, it's better and far cheaper.

Bibi16

I really dislike this scent, my stomach turned upon smelling it. It gave me nausea & dizziness straightaway, the ambergris, musk and cedar nope nope nope. On my skin, it gave me warm stale spicy almond drink, nope. The OG is more tolerable but still don't like it, gave mine away.

parispeach

Forget all the “Baccarat Rouge Killers” these people are just in denial trying to convince themselves it’s better so they don’t have to fork out for this horrendously priced beauty.

I got bad news, the clones cannot compete with this. The edp possibly, maybe, but the Extrait not a chance. The Extrait is one of the best smelling fragrances I have the pleasure of wearing and owning.

It’s hated and loved in equal measure, but this is one of the fragrances that truly smells intoxicating in the air, and also works great with other fragrances.

The price is absurd and it’s hard to justify, but man I love this fragrance. All of the inspired by just don’t cut it.

I don’t really need to talk about the scent as we all know how it smells, but that cherry, almond vibe in the Extrait is just killer.

_theeteddybear

This is such a tricky scent because on first sprays, I don't usually smell anything but I've learnt that less is more especially with the extrait. It's so cozy, sweet, sexy & so alluring. The notes intermarry each other so beautifully 😍😍. It like a dance!
I imagine people stopping whoever is wearing it to ask what you're wearing in an event because of how unique it is. The saffron note in the opening notes is my absolute favorite!
I get an alcohol opening but it goes away within a few minutes of spraying & I know you'll wonder but I own an authentic bottle, but that opening doesn't make it less of what it is.
This fragrance lives up to its hype! I'm such a longevity kind of person & this is an absolute beast when it comes to that. I get whiffs of it 12 hours after spraying it. It lasts even longer on clothes, so be careful not to choke people.
It also fills the room when you walk into a space, everyone will notice it, trust me.

Projection 9/10
Longevity 9.8/10
Sillage 8.8/10
Compliments 8.5/10
Value for money (is a point of contention among those who own it, but I feel like it's worth it for me)

I just can't get enough of this scent, it is such a majestic & elegant scent that makes me feel so good about myself.
Favorite scent in my collection!

Rougemaison

This one is a husband killer. He literally snapped his neck when I walked past him after spraying this perfume on.

AngeLkatelyn00

Absolutely a masterpiece. With this version, the extrait, I do actually pick up a cherry note in the opening but it’s not overwhelming by any means. I know a lot of people say this one is better for fall and winter but this is definitely beautiful in the heat but with less sprays. Like literally just one spray on a hot day. And of course longevity and sillage is outstanding.

Chanel de Lanvin

@ biancavlad74 If you smell rotten cherries and moldy coffee with a perfume, tell yourself that you have a serious problem, re-read when you review a perfume.
We don't have to like all perfumes, that's for sure, but none of them smell as unpleasant as you say.
We had a good laugh reading your experience.😂😂😂

Pandamummy

I own both versions (because I am a little stupid) owing to all the hype but I can't smell anything but iodine and bandages. I can smell great things on others as they walk by because it is so popular, but just iodine and metal on me. My children like it and think it smells like candy. Thus I see the juvenille cotton candy connection. Also after a year the extrait version has become very oily to where I must shake the bottle before spraying it on skin. Weird. Will not repurchase.

Trishalalalala

Sweet, burnt, almondy sugar.
Long lasting and beautiful ❤️

dans95

Once held an esteemed position in my collection, captivating the senses with its audacious sweet cotton candy-like scent. Its explosive aroma was not one to simply blend into the background; instead, it commanded attention, lingering in every room and leaving an enchanting trail in its wake.

As for the longevity of this creation, it is undeniably remarkable. Indoors, this scent clings to the skin with determination, accompanying one faithfully from dawn till dusk.

However, it's worth noting that the perfume's aromatic richness doesn't translate as well in the great outdoors, where its potent, caramelized sugar note can feel overpoweringly greasy.

A true trendsetter, Baccarat Rouge 540 inspired a legion of imitations. It was this very success, ironically, that gradually diluted its unique appeal for me. The market soon became saturated with countless reproductions that attempted to capture the magic of BR540, and this once-distinguished scent slowly lost its exclusivity.

In the face of this evolution, my affinity for this once-cherished perfume has waned. Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum, though still a testament to the inventive spirit of Maison Francis Kurkdjian, no longer serves as my signature scent. Its familiarity in the scent scape has led me to explore less ubiquitous offerings, making it an emblem of a particular era in my fragrance journey, rather than a current favourite.

joyfulday

It smells like a hospital. It smells like a iodine applied to hot human skin, and wrapped in bandages. Lots of contrasts in here. I smell also something sour and honey cake, but this cake was surely brought to someone in hospital.

TBonetheFella

Sprayed this on me while touring Saks today and here is the full breakdown.

Off the initial spray I am hit over the head with a healthy dose of saffron and almond that comes off very creamy and delicious. I hesitate to call it gourmand but the creaminess is there. This sweet creaminess is found throughout the rest of the fragrance as it dries down to become more woodsy and musky, but still very creamy.

This is a PERFECT fall and winter cozy scent that isn’t super overbearing of overwhelming to the rest of the room. You do still fill the room with the scent, but filling it with a sensual cloud of almond and musk isn’t something anyone would find egregious. I don’t see ANYONE hating this and it’s a certified masterpiece for any age and gender.

This is a very safe yet still different enough scent that you are sure to pull in compliments.

bugsyiii

1st post was based on a vial spray sample; this is my 2nd post (after acquiring a full bottle)!

Phenomenal fragrance that had to be added!! Although I do have the Eau de Parfum, initially there are some very distinct differences that I get after wearing this that I didn't observe in the Eau de Parfum version. Really loving this fragrance!

Extrait, sweet with a woody metalic punch; nutty with loads of amazing saffron and fir resin; as well as musk. This one reveals itself as more spicy in a woody kind of way, than sweet...
Eau de Parfum, sweet with a floral punch; less nutty more amberwood and jasmine; this fragrance reveals itself more sweet than spicy, or woody.
Love them both!

Extrait has great performance, silage, and longevity. An overall great fragrance in my opinion!

€ro$4her

It's PTSD-inducing for me and my folks. It starts alluring to soon become a miasmic abomination. The same goes for the EDP.

PapaTLooch

100% NAUSEATING.

islandgirlmaranda

Much like the original, but more muted and flat, more almond. The original is brighter and lasts longer (several hours) on my skin, and this Extrait only lasts an hour or so. I feel that this one is more wearable day to day because it's softer and not as strong. I get the latex note in this but not the original. It is not a love for me after testing my samples many times. Sad face.

Top of the line. Can’t get enough of this.

Intrigued by the hype and impressed by the numerous copies this fragrance has inspired, yesterday I sprayed the EDP on one wrist and the Extrait on the other.

On first notes, meh, not blowing me away. The EDP seemed to fade fast, and the Extrait was still very palpable in the first couple of hours. From then on, this creation took me on a journey through the various layers of sweet, creamy nutti-ness and woods, while holding a cool metallic character at the same time.

By 9pm, this fragrance had still not done a runner. Surprisingly the EDP was faint but detectable, and the Extrait was hanging in there strong. I was still on the fence about whether this would be worthy of purchasing. Did it smell like an extension of me and what I normally like to project typically? But overnight, this fragrance seemed seemed to embody me and I knew I couldn't write it off quickly. It is fascinating. Even though the longevity is impressive, I wasn't drowning in a cloying over-power. And it seems to be able to do many things at once. Spacious metallic, musk, woods and sweetness. I want more time with it and purchased a sample today. Curious to see how this progresses.

Update:
Bought a 30ml of Extrait and returned it to Mecca Beauty a week later. Lasted two hours on my skin. Word on the street is that there are formulation alterations and it’s unknown if and when they will re-stock.

Bicr

Hmmm, how to describe.. All the hype- you'd think this was Dior Homme Parfum.. Out of my entire collection, I place this in the bottom 25%. Unique- yes, orgasmic- nope..

akshat_dudeja

Look guys I'll keep it simple, my bottle came yesterday, and before buying it I had checked the reviews here too, and I totally understand why there are so many people disliking it. It has this bitter almond note which can be offensive to many. I've personally been a guy who was crazy into fresh scents, it's like there isn't a single popular fresh fragrance i haven't owned. But later i got into all those creamy ones, all those oud ones, and all those perfumes which make you think as if you're in Dubai or wherever in the Middle East. This perfume was a blind buy for me, and I had thought of it to be much creamier when I checked its notes. It indeed is creamy and smells extremely luxurious, but it's difficult to fall in love with this fragrance in the first sniff, I was totally regretting my decision of buying it till the previous day, but now as I've observed this fragrance deeper, I'm absolutely loving it, didn't know it will take a spot in my top 5 fragrances. Basically the truth is, this perfume isn't for everyone, it's made for a mature audience, this perfume literally screams extreme luxury. This perfume will be fancied by mature people, by people who have knowledge about notes so that they can observe it too, and by those people who already are millionaires. In other words, wearing this perfume around geeks won't really bring you any compliments, but wearing this around slightly elder audience, and around wealthy people, you'll pull dozens of compliments without a doubt.

Airylove

I bought it because of the hype and turned out its true. This is worth a hype. A great scent if you can afford, if you don't like it initially you will eventually start liking it because of the compliments that you are gonna get with this perfume.

Again, not for everybody because of the scent profile. It's sweet overall. Its expensive too so its better to get some vial first to check.

Longevity, Projection, Sillage - All 10/10.

JusttheFactsMan

#93 on my "Tour de Fragrance" of 250 scents in 250 days and at this price point you should really try a sample first. This is not a safe blind buy at all unless smelling like a bowl of dry roasted brasil nuts is your dream. I completely do not get this scent or why anyone would want to smell like this. It's not offensive, but it's not at all attractive either, and after being wowed by MFK Grand Soir this is a huge disappointment. I can think of at least two dozen under $30 scents I'd much rather wear than this. I wouldn't buy this at a tenth the price and for that alone it gets a "hate" rating from me.

waverlinda1

I didn't really like BR540 but I LOVE BR540 Extrait. I love the almond top note. Starts out sweet (and I don't like sweet perfumes) which then morphs into a floral woody scent. I thought about it for two years before buying the 30ml bottle because it was so pricey. I wore it the first time to a friend's party. When she hugged me, she wouldn't let go since she said I smelled so good. And asked what perfume I was wearing.

ShaunMichael

I’m not going to lie….I think I prefer Ariana grande cloud to the original. They may have originated the trend….but others perfected it….for less$$. Ps. I’m not a hater on expensive colognes or this house. Grand soir and aqua universales forte are both incredible

PrettyScentz

I prefer wearing the original day to day. This one is a bit sweeter due to the almond note and smells more unisex. I think the original lasts longer as well.

Melody Valentine

This one doesn't do the disappearing act on me like the edp does. It stays all day instead of coming and going. It has a very noticeable almond note that's not in the og. To me it's a cherry almond smell, even though cherry isn't listed in the notes. Again, it has a medicinal smell, this time more like cherry cough syrup. Not a problem for me as I like that. It's gorgeous with insane longevity and sillage. Still very feminine to my nose but ever so slightly more unisex than the edp. They're both gorgeous but it's not just a stronger version of the same perfume. Both are highly addictive. If you love br540 but you go asnosmic to it straight away then this one is probably better for you.

Nabil4az

After 16+ hours I can still smell this thing on my skin!!!
10/10 masterpiece

Emma_C

1 Year (lengthy) Update:

I honestly don't know where to start. I still absolutely ADORE this fragrance. Over the course of a year I have tested a lot of fragrances, all the time, and have added about 30-35 new gems to my collection that I love and am obsessed with. However, nothing comes even close to this one. This was, is and will be for a long time my signature scent. I've been wearing it the most, everywhere I go, that even my friends happened to say "I know this smell...it smells like you!".

This fragrance in its entirety is a masterpiece and an artistic olfactory journey. This is not just a "I smell good" perfume, it truly is so much more and I have never experienced this to such extent before.

BR540 ExtDP is very hard to describe because all of us pick up different notes and sometimes it varies from day to day. When I first smelled it, before it was duped and such, it was truly unique, nothing like what I've ever smelled before and was very hard to put a finger on it. I liked it, but I didn't love it, I didn't get it just yet. However, something about it is so addicting that makes you keep thinking about it, and so I kept coming back over and over again until I had to get a full bottle, and the rest is history.

In terms of performance, it doesn't disappoint. Some people label it as weak, but don't be mistaken. This is not a heavy oud fragrance, this is airy and light while keeping its depth. This fragrance is loud even when you forget it's there. I was in a friend's kitchen when her roommate came in and exclaimed "Baccarat Rouge?!". That was at least 5-6h after applying, and at that point I went noseblind to it, but it easily filled up the whole kitchen while I was there for 15 minutes. This has happened on multiple occasions, so for me, these experiences speak for themselves.
When specifically focusing on testing its longevity, I got at least 12h on skin.
My recommendation is to test and see how many sprays work for you. Overspraying this might cause anosmia faster, and it's a shame since I, too, want to enjoy the smell, not just the ones around me.

In terms of uniqueness as of now, of course it depends where you live, but chances are that not many people are familiar with or own BR540. Most people have 2 perfumes at best. Also, wearing Cloud or anything as such, really isn't the same. It's like comparing a stunning designer dress with its dupe from Wish - might be similar, but the quality isn't the same.
This fragrance has been copied and duped and its DNA is everywhere and in everything BUT nothing is like the original. If you genuinely love this or the EDP, just save yourself the money and get them instead. Don't get me wrong, I love dupes done well because some perfumes just aren't worth it (looking at you TF Lost Cherry) but with this it's not the case. For example, I got Orientica's Amber Rouge as an EDP dupe and let me tell you that while it is a VERY good dupe, it just wasn't it. Something was missing. I got the actual EDP and could have saved myself some money if I wasn't to try to "save up". If you're passionate about perfumes, don't save up on your favorite fragrances. Life is too short and finding happiness can be hard, so why stop yourself from enjoying this one thing that brings you joy?

Rammer99

Beautiful scent. This is a frag that can’t be oversprayed. I’ve oversprayed before, after 20-30 minutes I couldn’t smell a thing, not even on my arm up close. Went completely noseblind. Was prob 7 sprays, with some on the chest. Now with four sprays, 1 behind each ear and one on each forearm, I’ve caught whiffs the entire day. Beautiful scent and a great wearing experience when applied correctly.

JoyousOne

I took my 22 year old son to a perfume event at Nordstrom yesterday that was hosted by Tik Tok viral superstar Travaulya Wallace. I allowed my son to sample BR 540. He knows NOTHING about the fragrance world. He gave it 7/10. I then let him sample the Extrait and it gave it 9/10. No influence, no hype, just his HONEST opinion. 250 ppl registered for this event and both Baccarat Rouge 540 AND the Extrait BOTH sold out. Yes! Nordstrom SOLD OUT. Big winner!

First Impression
(Batch 22186, USD 87 for approx. 30 ml., Part of promotional local perfume seller event)

To be hornet, I don't know how I feel about Baccarat Rouge 540.
I don't find the attractiveness in BR540 DNA. Ambery-Sweet-Safforn dna.
I tried the dupe (Instant Crush) and the inspired (Kalan), while I can wear both scents nicely.
I just prefer (Iris, Green, Woody, Spicy and Musk) than Amber type of fragrance.
If there is Amber, I prefers the one that very thick - like Black Orchid, Noir Femme or Black Perfecto.

It just happened, that I lucky to have a chance to buy this one.
I still feel uncertain and I do not sure how the result will turn out.

But I can warrant you that, comparison to both fragrances mentioned.
The BR540, have something in the texture that I feel, superior..

This 30 ml. probably gonna stay with me for so long.

Full review to be written later on.

Revontuli

I would have wished NOT to love this scent, but well... Creamier than the original; sugar balanced with almond and saffron. I spotted a herbal note in the very beginning, which made me panic as I don't enjoy such notes, but it faded away immediately.

Considering the price I would never have a bottle of both versions. I would add this to my collection only if I ever happen to come across a good deal/discount. It is a stunning creation and I adore it, but it is overpriced.

I have to confess, though: The original smells much sexier to me. This one is more comforting.

Edit: The OG is more prominent on my skin. I can't spot a huge difference between the two anyway, so I will obviously save myself a lot of money.

emeraldwaters

is this worth the retail price? i hesitate to say yes. this is one of the most duped fragrances in the world. yes, you could probably find something similar from a dupe house. however, if you can find this on a good discount, i 100000% say go for it!

the longevity is impeccable on this one. i would sure hope so for the cost lol. the fact that this is an extrait shows. its much more oily than the EDP. it lasts soooo long on your body and *especially* clothes! sometimes even after i wash my clothes i can still smell a hint of this DNA.

the scent is just gorgeous. it’s so sugary sweet but somehow not overwhelmingly so. sometimes sweet perfumes can give me a headache, but this one doesn’t do that to me.

the ambergris combined w the musk is such a match made in heaven and has inspired hundreds of fragrances since. MFK was really in his bag when he made this! the dash of saffron was genius too. it adds a hint of spice but it doesn’t overpower the fragrance. the almond isn’t a powdery playdoh almond, it isn’t a cherry almond, it’s just lovely! i wouldn’t even call this scent nutty or spicy, and thats a testament to how well the notes are blended here.

i was so happy to get this for ~$250 when neiman marcus was price matching another site’s sale (can’t remember which now). i don’t know that i would’ve purchased it for $435 but who’s to say? I havent tried all the dupes out there but maybe I wouldve found a comprable one.

Coffeeandscents

This is a perfect 10/10 fragrance to me. I love how the woodiness combines with the sweet citrus. The extrait has an almond note which contributes creaminess to the fragrance and the saffron adds some spice and mystery. But all of that is perfectly blended so you don’t smell just one note. You are surrounded by a woody, sweet and slightly floral cloud which lasts for a full day. Even when you can’t smell it anymore on yourself it is there. I have gone through 3 bottles so far and I’m obsessed. I have received more compliments on this fragrance than anything else in my collection. Usually after I had been wearing the fragrance for 4-6 hours already and couldn’t smell it on myself anymore. It also lasts on clothes for days. It is perfect to me I wouldn’t change a thing. Absolutely worth the price tag in my opinion.

vintage.doll

I didn’t care for the original EDP somehow, even though it is almost the same perfume. This one is richer, sweeter and less sour. It smells like saffron amber and toasted sugar on my skin. It is so so so pretty, but don’t expect it to be an exact copy or a stronger version of the original. There are very noticeable differences but I don’t know how to describe them. The extrait is a masterpiece that smells amazing on clothes as well

If you love this just save up and buy a bottle because I have smelled all of the “supposed” dupes and they are blatantly inferior and synthetic to baccarat rouge

BR540 Extrait is a rich & luxurious scent that commands attention. I prefer the extrait over the original, it’s richer due to the higher perfume oil concentration & bitter almond note which provides added depth. The extrait is also more unisex.

I cannot fault the performance either, for me it’s SUPER long lasting and projection is great as well. There’s no denying it has been cloned to death but outside of the fragcom it’s still a fairly unique scent profile. Worth the price imo.

Miazinha

Ainda assim prefiro o BR540 original .

poltergeist

Still my favorite so far. Of course it has to be one of the most expensive fragrances in existence. Highway robbery what they charge for this! So, i'm on the hunt for the best dupes of br540. I got Ana Albiyed Rouge by Lattafa on the way and a dupe called Barrakat Rouge i found on Amazon for $33cad. I hope i can find a dupe that smells the same cause i cant justify shelling out $900cad every time i need a new bottle of Br540. I work too hard for my money.

Project Nostalgia

I knew from the first sniff this would become a must-have scent for me. It is so refined and beautiful, and really has some staying power! You will turn heads with this one for sure. Is she worth the price tag? It depends if you want the effect. Something is only worth it, if it will make you happy. This perfume really makes me happy so I think it is worth it.
It is a hard one to describe, because it is so well blended. But it hits all the olfactory targets for me. It's sweet, woody, creamy....it's like a cloud of fluffiness! ❤❤❤
I prefer this to BR540 EDP.. I like that one as well but this is superior 😍

Eribe86

I've only just purchased this scent and it's living up to my expectations so far. This fragrance is mild to the nose, yet on a beast mode based on sillage and longevity. I hope it gets even better as it syncs well with my body chemistry.

mwtx

Really good stuff off my skin it’s like a nice sweet clean almond smell, almost makes me think of cherry and the red bottle matches the vibe it gives. The dry down is heavenly. It’s light yet its presence is known, it kinda makes my mouth water a little. I’d be very careful in the trigger. I don’t think you need more than 3-4 sprays of this.

Very impressive performance, but that’s really with any MFK I’ve tried. This is easily my favorite scent from the house as of now, I still need to try some of the other heavy hitters though.

I think the price is fine, but some might not agree. It probably won’t blow your mind away, but the way it’s so light, yet projects somewhat/lingers, and the scent itself are a work of art for sure. Haven’t tried the dupes, but let’s be real even if they smell highly similar there’s no way they’re capturing this exact same magical aroma from the original.

Tommy47

I have a cheap BR540 dupe and got a decant of this. I really do not like the bitter almond here. no sillage and very linear synthetic scent. not offensive but not my thing

saho93

It really is intense. It is original amplified. I am not a fan of BR540; I think it is fine, nothing bad but nothing extraordinary. However, its sillage and longevity are impressive.

Immediately after spraying the Extrait flanker, I layered with two different perfumes. And only 2 minutes later, the only smell I get is BR540 Extrait. Amazing. Too bad I am not a fan of this perfume.

poltergeist

Just got my tester of BR540 and I love it. Does smell kinda like the dentist's but also with a slightly burnt cotton candy like strawberryish comforting tinge in the dry down. Very unique scent. I feel like Ganymede is BR540's evil green cousin because of the sterile base smells I detect in them both. BR540 smells more edible than Ganymede, if you know what I mean while being very complex and refined. Not overly sweet, just sweet enough. Kinda toasted marshmellow/cotton candy combined with that sterile dentists office smell. I hope i don't run through the bottle too quickly when I get it...$850cad for 200ml bottle. Crazy pricey. Oh well, life is too short not to indulge a little bit in the finer things, especially if you work hard and deserve it.

robin1234

@kakkev - No offense, I think you have to check if your bottle is authentic. This perfume is huge in terms of performance, room filling to be exact. I have seen many fake bottles circulating in my country. These bottles typically are either very very diluted or totally different perfume inside.

kakakev

I don't know if I'm nose blind, but I smell nothing. I get a small hint of the fragrance but nothing special. I'll let it sit and try sniffing it again.

silbach

I bought a trial vial to test this because I read somewhere that it was supposed to be one of the best perfumes this year. I don't see it. Or more like, smell it. Whoever said it reminds them of the dentist office may be right. It kind of has a medicinal smell from what I picked up. It really didn't do it for me. Maybe, sometime in the way future, I will take a whiff of it again and see if I really missed something.

OfTheValley

I love it on clothes, while I am wearing the eau the Parfum on skin. One spray on my coat on February, I still get whiffs of the scent whenever I open the closet...
I am amongst the ones who only get spun, caramelised almond sugar. No fishy smell, and I love the medicinal note of the saffron in the eau the Parfum.
I tried Cloud, which I don't like, and smell no resemblance whatsoever to Burberry Her.
This scent might be too common nowadays, but it still a cherished, solid love, which I indulge to no more than once a month, in the comfort of my home ❤️

Weinda

This is my IYKYK fragrance. Love it.

dsgnmind

I originally wrote my review last year on 4/10/22. Then I said, "Unlike the Eau de Perfume, I do get a nice amber opening that lingers after dry down, slightly powdery, and minimally spicy. While the longevity on this extract is a bit longer, I barely smell much two hours later. It is a nice amber fragrance but given the price point, it's difficult to recommend it when not lasting half the day. Sad face for price point expectations."

Wearing it again a year later, my experience is the same. I applied ample, even way too much if compared to other fragrances from this house and it just doesn't either blend with my skin or seam present. A few hours later, nothing at all. Sorry, but I just don't get it and I bought direct from the house itself. I find others far more appealing and tested all these completely blind.

hilal123

I wore this right outside the door while I had my coat on, a few weeks passed by and I did not wear the coat because it was warmer, one day I reach for my coat and it has lasted for weeks, and it was still strong, it has been months and still you can get a whiff every now and then

cpsottak

This is the fragrance that began my obsession. I was passively into fragrances, by my girlfriend at the time told me about this fragrance that was viral on tik tok, found a boutique in my home town to sample, I was absolutely blown away, paid full retail for a bottle instantly.

This fragrance is not something I, or my wife use every day, in fact, it’s only a fragrance we use when we are romantic, it’s our love fragrance, and I am so thankful for MFK for enhancing our love life with his fine fragrance

TikiKat

Do I have to describe this? Either you love it or you hate it. I love it; the almond and saffron opening is roll-your-eyes-back heavenly. It’s very resinous and musky in the dry down. I don’t get much projection from this (it’s an extrait, after all), but it lasts FOREVER. I really appreciate the longevity. I live in the desert, and sometimes the humidity dips below 10%. When it’s really hot, EDPs evaporate in less than an hour, and don’t even bother with EDTs. That leaves extraits and oils, so I was willing to dish out a little extra for this one. It absolutely SHINES in the heat! For me, it’s wearable year-round. It’s not the least bit tied to a particular season or time of day. Buuuuuut, if you live somewhere where the humidity drags you down most of the year, you might want to skip the extrait.

PS- The juice gets better over time. The first time I wore this was underwhelming, but months later it got sweeter (but not gourmand) and even more refined.

alKaori

i have a small decant sample of the extrait. the first time i tried it (on one arm, cloud on the other to compare) the longevity and sillage were pretty amazing, possibly cause enough came out to drip down from my wrist a bit and likely coated my pura vida bracelets. BUT the next time i tried it i could barely smell it. i found cloud to be coconutty and not so much of a dupe. i have dossier ambery saffron which is a much better dupe than cloud imho. (and less expensive) i realized the main note i am getting from BR540 and dossier's version is cotton candy. so basically if you can find a well balanced cotton candy perfume you are in the BR540 ballpark. there is no way i would spend $300 for this, especially since there are so many similar scents available now, but i am happy to have sampled it. i really do not get the hype, y'all.

edit: after doing research here at fragrantica (forums, articles) i see that the new-to-me gourmand note in BR540 and its dupes that i equate with cotton candy is some combo of amberwood/ambroxan and ethyl maltol. i bought some inexpensive "cotton candy" lotion and it just smelled like sweet pink candy, not the vibe i am after at all. glad to have learned this 👍

Extrait de Puke

Was looking forward to trying this to see what all the fuss was about. Disappointing is an understatement - it's bloody revolting.
Upon first spray my wife and I looked blankly at eachother, neither one of us wanting to be the one who could disagree with such a popular fragrance. I gave it a second chance the next day - nope, burn it off. Her friends came over the next day before a concert and I wouldn't let them try it. I insisted it would ruin their night, and anybody sitting near them.
I can appreciate that some people where frags for themselves, and aren't interested in what other people think, but I mean come on people - set some boundaries.
Until this chemical weapon in a pretty bottle, my reaction to other bad frags was something like "meh, not for me" - I enjoy almost every frag at least a little bit, but my eyes are now open.
Smells like bandaids and whale vomit. Dry's down to that pasty layer of scunch from the bottom of a downtown dumpster.
Now I have to decide if I want to sell what's left or the more ethical option - bury it in concrete.

Fabio01

A masterpiece... just an incredible creativity in the bottle. But for me it’s more feminine. 10/10

smellslikecoffee

I tried the EDP recently, which I love. Unfortunately I finished the sample. But I also read positive reviews about the extrait version. It's even more expensive that the EDP. But hey! If I only have to use a very small amount per day, it's worth it. So let's give it a try!

But to be honest, I personally am a bit disappointed. The extrait is in many ways similar to its EDP sister.

Both are clearly very interesting and profound masterpieces!

But on my skin, the extrait smells a bit synthetic (which for me is not the case for the EDP version). The synthetic smell fades in an hour or so.

What remains is a skin smell. It does last for hours and hours, which is great! But I miss the sweetness and I expected a bit more sillage as well.

To me the extrait seems to be the more introvert twin brother that works in the laboratory (extracting?), whereas the EDP is more like an outgoing twin sister.

Personally I prefer to wear the EDP. However, I am still enjoying the hunt for my personal favorite. So we'll see.

amudrechenko

This is the eternal fragrance with the best sillage. The fragrance is slightly spicy, a little woody, but most important, its ambery. Not sweet ambery like El born, and not "dirty" ambery like Initio Magnetic Blend 1, but rather nutty, exotic and radiating. The fragrance has small hints of almonds and saffron that I can detect, but Ambergris is by far the main hero in this play. This fragrance lasted more than 12 hours on my skin and more than 24 or even 48 on my clothing. It also has a very strong projection and I can detect every minute of the day.

Gourmandgurl888

By now everyone has heard and smelt the baccarat rouge EDP but the ones who know, know that this is the better if not the best one! For the hefty price you really are getting all day longevity and very smooth and consistent projection. Almost every time I wear this I get compliments! Whenever I wear this I just feel not even rich but WEALTHY! I absolutely love this one and will keep hurting my bank account for it 😅

Sjess

I love this one so much more than the regular version. This is such a gorgeous scent which is suitable for all seasons & occasions. It is a very popular scent, there are many dupes out there but nothing beats this one imho. It is woody, floral and amber, smells clean but not soapy, it is a sexy kind of clean. The sillage is not very strong but the longevity is beast mode.

player1363

The extrait version of Baccarat Rouge has sillage problems. This fragrance is a skin scent—a very good one tough.
+24h on the skin, weeks on clothing. But don't expect people to pick it up on the air.

cdcs

Better than the edp. I picked up somewhat of an oily(??) smell right when you spray it, if you get really close to the skin. Quite nice, wouldn't buy it tho.

stella.cherie

I tested this and the EDP on my wrists at the Madison Ave store yesterday. This smelled like iodine solution through and through. No complexity, no layers, nothing. I sprayed it on at around 11:30am yesterday. It is now 25 hours later and I can still smell the remnants of it on my wrist, so longevity is beast mode. The EDP at least has the top layer of sweet, deliciousness (with that ever-present, underlying iodine smell), though fades after an hour. These two are hard passes for me, fortunately.
