I like the notes of chocolate and violet in perfumes well enough, but I don't LOVE them. I also dislike 90% of the Mancera fragrances I've sampled because they have a sharp, synthetic DNA. So, why was Choco Violet an insta-love? It made me so nostalgic and I couldn't figure out why until I saw the "Reminds Me Of" section- this smells soooo similiar to Aquolina Choco Lovers! I wore that when I was like, 14. This also smells like Chocolate Greedy but the hazelnut and violet combo make it more interesting. I also find it decently long-lasting. This is delish.

Zethre

Iris/violet and chocolate. Very like Chocolate Greedy, but with violet/ iris instead of orange

crissy25

This is a lovely, unique take on a chocolate perfume. At first, I wasn't sure I liked it. I initially smelled chocolate and chips. Yes, chips. I'm not sure why. Idk if this fragrance needed time to develop or if my nose adjusted to the notes. I love it now tho. No chips. Just a powdery, chocolate scent with violet and hazelnut nuances. Great performance as with most Mancera fragrances. I'm glad I held onto this beauty dispute it not being love at first sniff.

If you’re worried if this Violet is too much like guerlains insolence, rest assured it’s not. It gives just enough violet to not make it smell detectable but more like a bright sweet chocolate scent. It’s extremely hard to describe but it’s absolutely STUNNING. A wearable pretty chocolate fragrance that doesn’t smell like you’re wearing a juvenile gourmand chocolate scent. Non stop compliments. It’s soo smooth. A love forever

My first thought about Choco Violet is that it is similar to Orchedee Vanille by Van Cleef and Arpels ....but not nearly as good.

Don't get me wrong... I like it, and I am happy that I blind bought at a fairly reasonable price (I bought this perfume on fragrancenet.com for $80). Would I buy it again? Only for $50 or less. I think if I had this before Orchedee Vanille, I would be raving, but Orchedee Vanille just has something more compelling for me. Both are very soft and delicate.

I have been using it all week (mid February in PA)and find it very comforting. My boyfriend says it smells like my cocobutter body cream or hot chocolate. However, I can really smell the violet which I think really makes the perfume. I don't find it strong or projecting, but it does have relatively good longevity. I like to spray, and with this perfume, I dont have to worry about overspraying. It is wonderful for bedtime.

Edit: I got a complement today! I can barely smell it now, but a woman (nurse) complemented me and asked for the name.

This starts off a little strange and quite nutty. I really enjoy the dry down! It’s definitely violets and chocolate, and I catch the scent lingering on my sweater hours later.

Lauren_Loves_Perfume88

This smells exactly like coco pops that have been left in violet-flavoured milk if it ever existed. This is a super-gourmand fragrance so if you prefer perfumey-gourmands this one is not for you. The violet is super light which I was surprised with to be honest but I am not complaining. It dries down to a linear chocolate scent, which I am not mad about. Sometimes I simply want to smell of chocolate! So this is now on my list to purchase a full bottle

ChocoVanilleMark23

Just got a bottle of this today. Extremely similar to Montale's Chocolate Greedy. The violet is in there but I find it quite a light note. One dimensional for me as with the dry down I still get the chocolate scent. I am in a very warm country and it has good longevity. If you like chocolate fragrances this is a good buy.

I was left wanting a little more depth and sophistication with the scent to be honest, for instance to get some of that vanilla as the day went on, but i am failing to smell it.

I bought a sample of this on a whim, as I love Chocolate Greedy. As other people have mentioned, Choco Violet is definitely the girlier, younger version - fancy fruit and nut chocolate vs pastel coloured M&Ms. The violet is very sweet and bold at first, like Parma violets (British sweets), but fades away to nothing but indistinct powder. Left is mostly the same drydown as Chocolate Greedy, but with less of the dried fruit note. If you are looking for any citrus, you’ll be disappointed. Pretty, but it doesn’t stand out particularly, and I much prefer Chocolate Greedy.

Bordo

I must confess, I don't like the scent of violets, thus take my review with a grain of salt. It is a lot like Chocolate Greedy by Montale, only with added hazelnut aspect and blended with violets. I live how delicious the gourmand part of it smells, with the creamy toasted hazelnuts it is even better than the Chocolate Greedy. However, although beautifully blended and really fit for this unique creation, violet is not me. I find it wearable, but I would not be true to myself if I did actually wear offend. There are better options out there, particularly gourmands with no floral notes added. However, my boyfriend who rarely compliments my perfume, commented in this one "you smell delicious... Like cookies💕". Performance is great. My only wish now is that Montale or Mancera would come out with a milky, creamy chocolate and hazelnut scent 🫠🫠❤️

yonana11

I got a decant today and upon first spraying it, i got a strong whiff of olfactory realistic hazelnuts, mixed with milk chocolate. Then, after a few minutes the violet shines and is, in my opinion, the star of the show. I stopped getting any chocolate smell at all. Don't get me wrong, the violet note is very powdery and candy-like, pleasant and fresh. Just a bit too sharp for my taste.
The real surprise was about on the 3hr mark after spraying - the violet faded out, the warm vanilla peeked through, hugging the chocolate and turned into a milky hot chocolate smell on my skin. I think the sweetness of the vanilla is the reason it smells like milk and not dark chocolate, which is also not a bad thing for me. Very warm and comforting smell, smells like sipping on a hot cocoa at home, wrapped in a cozy blanket. I wish this was in the whole lifeline of the perfume though, not just the late drydown.
Overall, very interesting scent.

_cryptic_girl_

Chocolate Greedy little sister, it was so fun to discover this type of smell because it is so different and bright from most of sweet fragrances I had, and yes, it is very close to real chocolate smell - I am not disappointed about it at all. And violet note is just right there chilling... Feels so comforting to go back to this perfume when cold weather hits!

I get this, Choco Violet can be overpowering and a biiit suffocating... I think you have to be a bit bold to wear this frequently. But be honest this is on Montale's DNA as well, all his stuff can get nuclear at certain temperature or with some skin types. Personally I wouldn't commit to a big bottle but having 60 ml around would be nice

AkaNeri

Chocolate powder with violet, I like it.

ecofreak2001

This smells like Cocoa Pebbles to me. So yummy!

DariaDark

Very olfactorealistic crushed hazelnuts. I don't get any chocolate, but the violet is noticeable and vanilla just slightly there, hugging it all together.
I will have to try this for a whole day, I think. It's pleasant but I also relate to the comment that compared it to dogs dry granules. Don't worry, it's not bad, it's just the nuts.

Apotheosis

Upon perusing the reviews of Choco Violet Mancera, my uncertainties clung to me like a shadow reluctant to leave its place. However, a whimsical impulse for change led me to take the plunge into this fragrant escapade. Much to my surprise, the initial spray unleashed a vivid burst of violet, a note I had never particularly favoured. Yet, in the spirit of daring exploration, I persisted, and oh, am I delighted that I did.

This olfactory voyage swiftly transformed into a gourmand indulgence, a delectable fusion of cacao, vanilla and hazelnut that tantalised my senses. A veritable feast for the senses, it became. The compliments rained upon me, and I found myself irresistibly drawn to my own scent, unable to resist the allure it exuded.

The sillage, though not grandiose, proved adequate. A modest presence, fitting for a fragrance of such captivating charm. After all, too much of a bewitching potion can swiftly sour into repugnance. Mancera, the maestro behind this aromatic symphony, has once again showcased his mastery in blending fragrances of unparalleled quality. A delightful addition to my collection, indeed.

whisperology

What a gem. Fall/Winter only unless you're wild. This is how you do chocolate without smelling like pure dessert. Feminine, snuggly and approachable.

It lasts forever and I much prefer the later dry-down to the opening. It's lovely once the hazelnut tones down. The nuttiness is a bit much in the beginning. My partner even commented that I smelled like nuts. Not quite what I would prefer to be the standout note! I'd recommend applying an hour or two ahead of time if you want to experience more of the chocolate violet combo.

Once it snows I see myself reaching for this even more frequently.

Rosemary14

This is like a cross between Insolence and Chocolate Greedy. The opening is very much Chocolate then followed up by hazelnut. Then in the dry down I get lots of powdery Ozonic violet like the pixie dust of violet like in Insolence. The hazelnut is then in the background with chocolate further in the distance. This is far more fresh than Chocolate Greedy but Chocolate Greedy is much more chocolatey and heavy. I do pick up on the hazelnut much more.

araisin

Guuuuuurl. That BLAST of chocolate is immediate and ready to get in your face about it! I mean, one spritz and my finger hasn’t even snapped back into the pre-spray position on the nozzle before it’s Willy Wonka time! I read one of the reviews here where the reviewer said they get no chocolate from this fragrance at all. Like, zero. And I’m over here wondering how someone planted a fully heated and ready-to-eat pot of chocolate fondue in my closet without me knowing. I mean…

I haven’t worn this fragrance in a while, as I’m in sweltering Los Angeles and it’s early September. It’s been a hot summer and fall temps are a ways off yet. I mention this because, to me, Choco Violette is strictly for fall and winter temps. But I wanted to be reminded of why it’s such a unique, interesting, lovely fragrance so I sprayed a spritz on my forearm as I got ready for bed. Needless to say (again), that initial note is straight up chocolate for me. Not much else is elbowing its way in with that heavy dose of chocolate starting the show. The chocolate starts out on the darker side (love dark chocolate, not so much a milk choc fan), powdery, very strong.

Within just a couple minutes, that lovely violet peeks over the chocolate wall, says a somewhat timid hello, but decides to stay. She climbs up and takes a seat on the wall’s ledge, where she’ll stay, slowly gaining the courage to join in the conversation. As the major choco presence slowly recedes a bit, the hazelnut becomes more identifiable. And after a good 20 mins, the vanilla joins the party. I feel like the vanilla knew all along that she was going to have to come in and temper her boisterous chocolate cousin, and she does — with a wink and a smile. She’s a welcome addition to the gathering, and she stays for a good, long while. After about an hour, there’s a harmonious conversation between everyone, in which the vanilla sets the tone, but enough time has gone by that even the shyest party guests have taken a comfortable seat. A touch of orange is now lingering, but just a touch. That warm lilt of musk has also found a cushiony seat at the center of the social gathering.

Very long lasting. I smell it on me the next day, for sure. By then, the violet has aged and fading, but still noticeable. This fragrance is so cozy and wintry and gourmande, but it also, inexplicably, manages to give some freshy vibes somewhere in the distance. It must be the violet and orange. I usually gravitate toward more fresh fragrances, but my goodness, I can’t stop sniffing my arm. There’s just something so addicting about it. Big thumbs up.

YlangLover0912

Wow.. this perfume is very addictive.
I do perceive the nutty-lactonic accords.
The violets gives a gothic and nocturnal sense otherwise this perfume would be Ok.

Spray with consciousness and calm.
Applying in a hurry would be a horrendous mistake.

This perfume needs to settle with soft touch ups, like is melting slowly into your skin.

This is a nocturnal-gothic gourmand.
Perfect for cold weather and a romantic date during a cold midnight at full moon.

I can visualize a delicate unsweetened floral tea (maybe lilac, blueberry) , dark chocolate bar (80% of cacao ) and a sweet violet biscuit with some sugar glass; while having a conversation with an androgynous vampire ( delicate looking , intelligent, intriguing with beautiful eyes).

Rhialto the Marvellous

Concentrating on the scent for the past few hours, I actually don't get any chocolate at all. It may -seem- like milk chocolate or something, but it's not. It's actually just hazelnut with lots of vanilla. It's everything BUT dark chocolate. Violets? What violets?!

Very sweet and gourmand. Like baked goods. Vanilla cookies. I'm sure people will find this yummy, but personally it's not for me.

Got a 120 ml for swap in EU.

LLdeduction

More so milk chocolate than dark, with a slight nutty vanilla in the background. The violet gives it a semi "wet" feel to it while adding a slight powdery earthiness. Such an intriguing combination, but it works well!

Also, nice performance on this one.

Michhellle

This is paradise of chocolade hazelnut and vanilla ,longevity is insane 16hours plus projection loud is so underrated but for me one of the best gourmand fragrances on the market .Mancera never missed with projection and longevity is safe blind buy for those who loves sweet loud gourmand fragrances.

Ester Casanova

I blind bought this fragrance and it wasn’t what I was expecting… at first it was Nutella slap right on my face and than a little chocolate and lots of sweet violets, I regret it and I couldn’t believe that I had blind bought it (again) … but my most loved fragrance are the ones that are blind buys and I almost never liked them at first.
I give it another chance and I sprayed more, the next day I wore it for work and I was pleasantly surprised. Not loud or offensive, it was fresher than I thought it would be and it last a reasonable time ( I didn’t sprayed to much cus I wasn’t sure of it). I don’t know if I would have bought it if I have sampled before, but now I’m so glad I have this because I have nothing like this in my collection. On my skin the Nutella goes quickly away and what’s left it’s really interesting, Violet with a little bit of choco and some vanilla , sweet but not cloying, I guess you have to get used to it.
Longevity and sillage are not bad , but it’s not a monster either…. But again this happened before I know that if I let him macerated for some time it wil be stronger. Almost all year around kind of fragrance.

Ethereal Love

I can't believe I'm going to say this as someone who is obsessed with gourmand fragrances, but this is extremely sweet. It is almost too much for me, but if you are looking for a good chocolate fragrance then this is it. There's nothing perfumey about it and the scent is very linear. It's just straight up chocolate with a bit of nuttiness, and doesn't change much over time. I also wouldn't consider this scent to be unisex. It's very feminine imo, so I would say to not let the unisex label deter you if you are a woman who only likes girly fragrances.

AuthenticAF

I wore this again a couple of months ago and meant to update.
Do i like it? Yes it smells good, but it is just so much photorealistic chocolate. It feels pretty linear to me, i dont really smell anything else but chocolate. I dont really get any citrus or floral, no nuts no musk. I think if the chocolate accord was dialed back about 50 percent it would be more of a “blend”. The performance is amazing this will NOT fade away, to the point that i felt like i needed to escape it.
I guess there are different strokes for different folks, maybe some people want to smell like chocolate, and as much as i like that accord, i dont think it suits me.
I do think i may layer this with other things in fall/winter. But i would only use a teeny tiny drop of this with something else, maybe something woody or musky.

mirena.1

Amazing chocolate fragrance and compliment catcher!
It smells like a waffle crust just covered in hot, hazelnut, liquid chocolate sprinkled with crushed violet candies.
Long lasting and amazing sillage.

silthrill

Oh wow what a fun fragrance! I love this. Sweet chocolatey powdery violet bomb. I bought a full bottle after sniffing the atomizer - love at first sniff. Chocolate rush in the opening, violet comes in strong in the drydown. Once the violet is out, it remains fairly linear throughout the wear. I'm picky with my gourmands because I like a little sweetness but I don't want to smell like a legitimate piece of food; the violet here holds her ground and doesn't let that happen.

Fabulous projection and longevity. Leans feminine. Suitable for all seasons. This is a playful fragrance and I wouldn't wear it to the office where I want people to take me seriously lol. I feel like if Tinkerbell had a signature scent, it would be this.

aprilrobin

Do. Not. Blind. Buy.
Based on reviews, I see that many appreciate this scent, and in no way, shape, or form am I here to tell any of those people that they're wrong. If they love it, I'm happy for them. That said, this fragrance has compelled me to write my first review on Fragnatica due to how negatively Choco Violet has affected me. Disclaimers: I'm a BIG fan of violet (my favorite floral scent and flavor -- sugary or not), gourmands, and the house of Mancera. However, I can be iffy about chocolate notes in particular, though, so I decided to sample Choco Violet before blind buying, and I'm very glad I did. I'm a 47-year-old perfume addict, and this is the first scent to physically nauseate me upon the first siff -- I LITERALLY gagged. Despite the name, all I can smell is "nutty" up front in a BIG way with a powdery floral in the background. The hazelnut will dominate, and please do NOT sniff too deeply to experience the violet because it isn't worth the suffering! While I know the nutty note is hazelnut and not peanut butter based on the description, my instinct would be to name this fragrance "Peanut Butter & A Little Soap." The listed chocolate note that initially made me hesitant? -- can't detect it at all. Chocolate is not the problem! After experiencing Choco Violet, I honestly feel that my life has changed for the worse (lol at the drama, but also not lol). If you love this scent, I won't judge, but writing this review felt cathartic, and I believe it's my civic duty to implore those who are intrigued to try a sample before blind buying.

suzanne_ronald

HAZELNUT & VIOLET, this beauty opens with a fruity hazelnut burst and transitions to hazelnut dark chocolate featuring a delicate violet note in the air. The violet goes on to become quite jammy. The chocolate here is very dark and bittersweet, not what I would call a milk chocolate and with the hazelnut evokes almost a coffee/espresso vibe (not listed). This beauty is fairly linear and a beast mode performer, however you do get some transition to Madagascar vanilla and white musk in the final drydown several hours in which goes on for days. This unique scent is unlike anything I've smelt before, but here are some contrasts.

Contrast to To Be Camouflage Pink, Police:
This is the closest scent to Choco Violet that I've smelt, but these are still very different, especially in the openings where I smell gardenia in Camouflage Pink. I don't pick up gardenia in Choco Violet Mancera, but just violet and hazelnut on steroids. In the dry down of Camouflage Pink I get hints of violet and hazelnut that remind me of Choco Violet Mancera.

Contrast to Angel Muse EDT Mugler:
These are different however there are some similarities as both are hazelnut-chocolate scents. Angel Muse EDT has passionfruit instead of violet, and the Angel style patchouli. But both of these were love at first scent for me and different enough to each be FB worthy.

Contrast to Rebelle Rihanna:
These are very different but have some similarities with both having a heavy dose of chocolate. I don't smell any coconut in Choco Violet unlike Rebelle. Rebelle is softer overall except for the slight bristle of patchouli. I get more of a make-up and cocoa vibe from Rebelle which I don't get in Choco Violet.

Overall: A very unique scent with stellar performance. Must love hazelnuts, dark chocolate & jammy violet. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

meama

could be nice if the chocolate note was not a harsh chemical thing without quality except killing your nose.
If you reed a review of someone calling that dark chocolate you can guess this one never smelled chocolate in his life

Sabina8019

An absolute LOVE of mine. Sweet, comforting and fun.

kayvee1102

All Mancera should be banned from the workplace.

EG123

I wanted so badly to love this…. Yeah - this is not good. Nauseating. If you’re looking for a decent Mancera I would stick to Roses Vanille or Instant crush. Still, the Mancera scents are pretty harsh and not well blended. Also massively synthetic. Sure they’re beast mode but what’s the point of that other than to become a walking head ache cloud that smothers everyone. Definitely test this before you buy.

EDIT: I've let the bottle settle after shipping and it's improved. It smells nice once it dries down - but unfortunately its not really wearable still... but layered with Kayali Vanilla 28 and it becomes one of the most delicious gourmand scents I've ever smelt!!! I can't stop sniffing my arm.

HerNameisVeronica

For me, this is a totally fun scent. I got it this winter when I needed something cozy and satisfying, the warmth of good chocolate, deepened by hazelnuts then brightened by violet! Dries down slowly (this stuff LASTS) to a lingering dust of chocolate supported by a clean musk. I only got a decant, as it's not something I would wear to work, but it's a fun at-home or weekend with a book scent.

baraninka1987

Blind bought it …. On the first spray thought uh that’s strange. The opening doesn’t work for me something with the nuts and citrus notes that doesn’t marry to my nose …seriously thought that I will be giving it away to my husband😭 but 15 minutes later… choco pops with vanilla came in ☺️ I was like ok this is nice a bit boring but nice…and smelling like choco pops is fine with me .then after 30min…. the violet comes through!!!! 😍😍😍😍 ends up as chocolate, vanilla and violets and it’s magical. This is definitely staying with me!!!😜It’s chocolate but fresh in the same time - so unique. Really reminds me of Guerlain Insolence which I absolutely love but with additional chocolate twist💕 however sprayed on the clothes and it comes through as chocolate and nuts … very little or one of the violets note . This scent needs the skin I don’t think I can live without it now 🥰 maybe not a safe blind buy for someone that doesn’t like the violets - it’s not sweet chocolate fragrance more dry powdery chocolate with strong and refreshing violets 🥰🥰🥰🥰

muzzbait

There are a few elements that are out of whack, at least for me...

The nuttiness needs to be turned down, it drowns out the violet and chocolate and adds a weird element to the whole mix. Additionally, the vanilla is too strong -- occasionally, that is all that wafts up to my nose. Not a fan of that.

Overall, I could see this really working, just in different proportions. I'd love to sample a prototype of this where the hazelnut wasn't as prominent and the violet-choc elements shone through more...

Sammbac

Cocopops + Guerlain's Insolence. I knew this was going to be powdery but I was quite taken aback by the dryness of this perfume. Instant Cocopops dust, a zesty spritz of orange peel and then the violet cuts through and the violet/choc composition remains 50/50 almost throughout.
Interesting, almost unnerving. I wanted to love this and thought I would, (blind buy) I somehow thought it would have the sugariness of Roses Vanille or some of the Montale scents and am a little disappointed it is not so sweet. I like it, it's unusual, I think it will grow. Dries down to a chocolate vanilla. I don't think I will smell this on many other people. Definitely unisex but not in the typical way. It feels purple and smells purple and there is such a woodiness to it but I sense this comes from the abrupt juxtaposition of the violet and choc. Not a safe blind buy.

Joseebus

You know, you never quite realize just how much you want to smell like Cocoa Puffs until you try this. Definitely fun to wear.

likesleet

upon trying this again, i really got the violet which smells revolting and nauseating on my skin. i personally just don't like violets so i am biased but i was haunted by this all day. the least offensive part was the powdery sugary chocolate notes.

patimbam

First sniff was very positive, but the more I wore this, the more I was tired. Combination of dark chocolate and violet gives the impression that we sniffed loose face powder. Not a fan.

LizDee007

This is very sophisticated and blended well. Mancera fragrances are not for the faint at heart, but this is very light and airy. Superb performance and sillage. I’ve been told it smells like hazelnut coffee or latte, butter pecan ice cream, cake batter, baby powder! IMO, this is more powdery than chocolate. It starts with a nutty cocoa powder and calms to a pretty light sweet powder, sometimes vanilla, sometimes sweet nutty chocolate. But a little goes a LONG way! Blind buy=☺️

Prunel

Opens with a blast of hazelnut + chocolate. After a few minutes, the violet comes in. The first 20 minutes are meh. But the dry down is SUBLIME. Very unique, very unisex, great performance. 8.5/10.

Edit : lasted 24 hours on my skin. Very good projection as well. I loved it so much I'll probably buy it if the other samples I got don't blow my mind more than this did. Final note 9/10.

Second edit : now even the opening has grown on me a lot. It's a masterclass of a fragrance. For the price it delivers insane performance, uniqueness and quality. I really really love it, will buy a full bottle very soon.

MademoiselleMaya

Likeable and edible creation. Violets and waffles filled with cocoa and hazelnut cream. Wild violets, since edible themselves - compliment and liven up the scent.
Cold, dewy and powdery flowers contrast the dry and crunchy, sweet mass. What is surprising is that you never know which note will be on top - the hazelnut-chocolat creme or the Meteorites-like violets. They alternate during wear.
Not too serious and yet, not that silly either.
Yummy.

Tooturntt

This perfume changed my brain chemistry it's that good. Smells very similar to Amour De Cacao by Comptoir Sud Pacifique but with a blast of candied violets. Absolutely stunning. Amazing lasting power and moderate projection.

Joani_Cheddar

I frickin love this! Every time I put this on, I want to go sing it on the mountain; Hallelujah~ This is a fragrance that receives a compliment each time I wear it- from men and women. Creamy chocolate and violets - you choose the moment and Mancera will provide the bliss. I also love Montale Chocolate Greedy - but to my nose- they do NOT smell alike. However, i agree- they both have chocolate. The end.

Norgirl

I have worn this a few times full day after testing now . Initialy testing on hand and sniffing it up close i was not sure about it . I was totaly getting the dry dusty nuts and cocoa powder after the initial Violet burst in the opening dryed down abit . I was like ohh no is this all there is ..
But i desided to wear it full the day after sins i truly love Violets and in this the opening is to die for . If i could have this kind of scent alone aswell violet very much candy like .i would be trilled . . Mixing it up with nuts and chocolat is not for everybody .But i love it .
This time the Violet stayed all throughout the wear .all day long and still going strong. I could smell it wafting around me choco violet all day long and i love it . The initialy cocoa powder and nuts are better from a distance mingeling with the violette IMO. The way a perfume should be smelled realy. after all we cant go with our nose stuck to our arm all day long wink
And i suspect the top notes stayed abit longer sins it was abit on my clothes aswell. But realy it stays about the same abit mor vanillic in the end .But all notes still accounted for . This turned out a great blind buy . Probebly not the last Mancera need to test more. and also a perfect winter scent IMO . bet it would work in springtime to wink It does has some resamblens to Montale Chocolat greedy .(wich i did not realy enjoy that much ) but the added notes makes it so much more interesting IMO .

Trixie_perfumes

Someone please tell me how many sprays are you doing. Beast performance? I have have it for 3 days, went form 2 sprays to 5, and ok, it does have an almost arm length silage for about 1 hour, but then it becomes close to me and is gone after 4h 🤷♀️. Not sure if it's because it's extremely cold now we're I live... Anyway, the scent is amazing, just like Ferrero Rocher miliseconds after you bitten the hazelnut, but I can't even detect any evolution since it's gone before lunch... Even the leftover Zara rich warm additive on my coat form a week ago wins this one after 1 hour... Trying not to be to disappointed, going to try more sprays and in other weathers

looleeloo

I hope it evolves. The violet in this feels like a mistake to me. I've wanted to smell like violets since reading White Oleander in secondary school. This combo feels strange and not so pleasant. But it's my first more expensive niche perfume and I hope it grows on me or somehow changes.

Nish97

I like this scent but can’t really wear it on its own. The opening is good but as it settles, it gets this very strong roasted hazelnut smell and it’s not the chocolatey hazelnut. For some reason, I can’t smell the chocolate after a while. I guess the hazelnut is quite overpowering, it smells mostly like assorted nuts which I’m not a fan of. I layer it with any vanilla scented body cream and Cheriosa 62 body mist, this combo though is too good, absolutely love it. 🤌🏽 It’s definitely beast mode. Gonna get a bigger bottle.

Update: After an hour or so, I can smell the chocolate and it’s sooo creamy along with the hazelnut. The hazelnut has definitely mellowed down. Aaaaah! Love it.

O M G.
I needed to feel something so I blind bought this bottle off of reviews on Fragrantica and Youtube. I knew I would love it because I love Hazlenut, Violets, Chocolate and Vanilla. Also, I absolutely love and adore Mancera Velvet Vanilla and Montale Vanille Absolu.

When trying it today my eyes opened up wide, this is NICHE quality uniqueness and experience. The very first smell has a tiny bit of a green quality with the bergamont and violets but the chocolate quality comes in quick with a vengence. In the very beginning it smells like 60% chocolates +20% Violets +10%Hazlenut + 10% Orange and Bergamont. You can smell these notes but they blend to create something fun, unique and YUMMY.
After about 2 minutes on the skin, the hazlenut is very present and when very close to the spot sprayed, the nuttiness is realistic and projecting.
The scent smells super strong on the spot sprayed but in the air its much sweeter for some reason, which is unique and fun.

At the 2-3 hour mark OMG it changes, and this is when the Montale/Mancera vanilla kicks and makes it smell much more creamier. The dark chocolate facets are now smelling completely like milk chocolate because of the vanilla. At this point its projecting this lovely scent and my skin smellin soooo good. Holy smokes 10/10 scent tbh.

Finally!!! I understand the Cocoa Pops + Oreo cream reference. This was SUCH a satisfying blind buy because I have been researching this perfume for such a long time now. I am so happy rn💖💖💖💖

Brooklynjade

Violet. Hazelnut. Deep, creamy milk cocoa + vanilla. Lasts literally all day—8-10 hours on skin, much longer on fabric. Sillage is strong and lasts a good 3 hours or so. I have gotten more compliments on this fragrance, than any other in my collection! At the gym, in an elevator, at work— people loved it, and kept telling me how edible I smelled. Best for the colder months when temps drop down to 50 degrees and below. I adore this, and I don’t even like violet, it just somehow works. Perfectly unisex.

Jndena

Al-Rehab Choco Musk perfume oil is also amazing and very close to Chocolate Greedy.

Jndena

I sampled Montale Chocolate Greedy and was surprised that I loved it, because I don’t normally like gourmand fragrances.

I was not able to sample Choco Violet, but based on reviews below and Youtube reviews, I blind bought Mancera Choco Violet instead and was disappointed. Fragrance is very personal.

My assessment now is that if you like intense fragrances, get the Chocolate Greedy. If you like a more “wearable” fragrance, get the Choco Violet. I personally find them both very wearable.

I prefer Chocolate Greedy for the scent, intensity and strength, but anticipate that I may find I prefer it for fall and winter. I am guessing that I may prefer Choco Violet for spring and summer. We’ll see.

Kotikina

It does what it says and smells of hazelnut chocolate, which is not a milk chocolate, not dark dark chocolate, but rather something in between + prominent violets. There is an interesting balance, because both notes are equally present, not like one overpowers the other. It doesn't smell synthetic at all. The violets in here actually DO remind Insolence a lot, but softer and more wearable. I agree with the previous review - it is more refined and sophisticated than Chocolate Greedy (due to the violet).

Wiktoriaaaz

Intial blast very similar to chocolate greedy. But chocolate greedy does turn quickly into dried fruit which wasn’t my vibe so I sold it. This is an INCREDIBLE smooth, milky Nutella with Parma violets version of chocolate greedy. It’s much more refined. And the Violet is actually a nice surprise. I never liked Parma violets etc but the way it’s combined in here just works…

This really excels when it warms to your skin. Stunning biscuity, sweet feminine scent. This is my first mancera and I believe this is a very safe one if you like gourmand feminine scents

RickPinto

@marialena888m

There are 8ml decants on the official website.
That's how i have made my investment on those "more challenging scents".

marialena888m

Smells strongly of chocolate biscuits and violets…I really like it, but I wish they had a 30ml bottle, I can’t see myself wearing this scent very often. I love the violets here, they are clean and abit cold, it reminds me of Insolence, but fresher and less powdery. To me, the violet adds class and refinement to this scent. The chocolate note is not too sweet or cloying, but it sure does make me hungry! It’s making me want chocolate biscuits dunked in hot cocoa right now. I’m not getting too much hazelnut, but it’s definitely there. It simply is Choco and Violet. Would I wear this out? yes, I absolutely would, but as I said, probably not too often, I’d probably wear it a lot more indoors. Mmm, yes, that chocolate biscuit note is delicious, just as potent as the violet, both in balance with each other. I agree with a reviewer below that this is SUCH a rainy day perfume, it would be so beautiful and comforting on cool, wet days. Sillage + longevity are both fantastic, it’s not as nuclear as Roses Vanille (a difficult scent for me, too cloyingly sweet and beastly, and this is coming from someone who loves sillage-beasts), and it’s more unique and interesting too. More refined and feminine than Montale’s Chocolate Greedy.

AuthenticAF

I bought this for my mom (85) bc she loves chocolate. She really hasnt worn it much she seems to lean more to voce viva and chloe roses. Yesterday i thought id give it a try. It definitely is chocolate! I get a very tiny bit of floral notes but mainly chocolate. It did smell good i enjoy the scent, but idk how to describe it, it felt a bit like i was living in a simulated world. I only have 2 mancera fragrances, but both have the common denominator of feeling like i am in a simulation vs being in the real world. One reason i love fragrance is because i believe it helps me to connect with and enjoy the present moment. I dont get that present feeling as much with mancera house, it feels like this is how the new version of humans in 3400 AD will produce the feeling of chocolate for all to enjoy, because real chocolate no longer exists.

jassca99

I think this is a wet cold violet first, dusted with warm facets of cacao and hazelnut shavings. The violet comes off fresh and that’s why I stated it was wet and cold, but that may be the citruses on top creating that effect? Or maybe more accurately, I imagine someone drinking hot chocolate, standing by their opened window looking outside at a field of violets, it just rained and cool air blows in. A very unlikely occurrence in my personal life but that’s what I get lol and I think this would be beautiful on an early spring, cool rainy day. Anyways, the chocolate comes out more and more as it dries down but I honestly mainly get violet. I don’t think this smells exactly like Montale chocolate greedy. The floral aspect that lasts for majority of the wear makes this different. Choco violet also lasts longer.

Steffie32

I only wear this in 50 or below weather. It’s really warm, comforting, and delicious. I only get a hint of bergamot at the very beginning, but mostly on my skin it’s a soft powdery cocoa and vanilla scent. I wish my chemistry drew out a bit more of the violets, but all in all it’s a great cold weather fragrance. But you must like sweet scents and chocolate.

likesleet

way better than chocolate greedy bc this has more depth and richness. sweet vanilla chocolate with florals that temper it

svdwdsn

This smells like CHOCOLATE, HAZELNUT & some florals. On my skin, the most prominent notes are those two. I smell so delicious when i wear this, and my husband loves it. Suitable for colder weather.

As i am from South East Asia where its hot & humid most of the time, i only wear this at night when its a little cold. Or anywhere air conditioned space.

If you are not into sweet scent, avoid this. This is extremely sweet & gourmand in my opinion. I am a gourmand lover and i love love love this.

Scotty123

I purchased this with the full expectation of most likely selling it off due to the reviews claiming it being more feminine. I’m pleased to say that couldn’t be more further from the truth. This is wholly 100% unisex. While I’ll admit I didn’t read all the previous reviews I’m shocked that no one has made the comparison to the Givenchy Gentleman line with this fragrance. It smells like it could be a flanker in that line. It open up with a bright citrus mix, then the violet and chocolate rears it’s head around 15 mins later and stays prominent throughout the rest of the fragrance, I get a slight lipsticky Violet and bitter dark chocolate and some sweetness from the vanilla in the mid, as it finishes with the chocolate, hazelnut and musk in the dry down. It’s a beautiful fragrance that is suitable for a date night or a night out in general. Perfect for Fall and Winter as well!

laukin911

Wow this is a beautiful unique perfume.
Soft cozy yet sexy. Very lipsticky powdery scent.

Reminds me of daisy eau so fresh in the purple bottle mixed with chocolate. Unsure if I like this combination together on me.

meldloves

I like it. It makes me think of a nice day having Nutella cookies and then opening a window and getting a breeze of violets. I live in a place with an autumn kind of weather most of the year, so I feel this is a great perfume for me. As with most Mancera’s, it lasts for quite a while. Don’t overspray.

clintjr82

As a man NO thanks, too weirdly sweet. Smells like a chocalate violet cracker or wafer. Its smells more edible than wearable. I can only see this being bought as a candle.

Mysticmiah1970

Just a wee update on my previous post my partner just commented you smell delicious what’s that perfume you have on I’ve not smelt that one before and a colleague at work said ooo I like your perfume what is it while I was wearing choco violet I wear perfumes for me but it’s lovely to hear positive comments from others just thought I’d share

Mysticmiah1970

I’m really getting into Mancera fragrances just now this is my 8th one from this brand and was so excited about it arriving. The initial blast was not what I was expecting I got the violet and chocolate plus this awful orange smell which I can only describe as those multi vitamin orange tablets in a plastic container.Thankfully after 10 minutes that awful orange smell died away and I was left with a lilac hazelnut chocolate vanilla smell which I must say smells amazing so pheeew for waiting that 10 minutes .The violets are kinda similar to guerlain insolence which I love and the chocolate puts me in mind of a decant I had of montales chocolate greedy much prefer this one

4dri3n

Unexpectedly my favorite Mancera I've tried so far. To my nose this one does not seem to have the dreaded signature 'plastic fumes' note. Up close there is indeed a fleeting sweeter floral aspect in the middle notes, but for me it's the absolutely lifelike chocolate that dominates throughout. I did get occasional whiffs of Nutella, real or imagined as I knew about the supposed hazelnut note beforehand. Most of the time it was simply cocoa or very dark chocolate though, felt like I smelled of molten chocolate cakes for hours! Long lasting and decent projection too.

$¢enta$ti¢

I have no clue why am I testing this fragrance but I got a good deal on it and I collect Mancera fragrances.

This fragrance is hilarious to me 😂 choco violet smells like a wearable version of Montale's chocolate greedy. I prefer wearing choco violet over chocolate greedy. (However I won’t) I’ll let my woman wear this is a cozy scent a Netflix and chill type of a scent for a female in the winter.

I like this fragrance right away reminds me a fresh baked chocolate cookies. Then as it dries down after a few minutes it starts to change. Also the chocolate is not too heavy there’s hazelnut in which gives this nutty accord that balances out the sweetness of chocolate.

Scent profile: I can definitely pickup the violet Accord it reminds me when I was little my grandmother would have these violet candies called (chowards violet candies) in her purse and try to give them to me but I would throw them out. It’s a sweet powdery violet accord reminiscent of the towards violet candy. The vanilla and musk help this fragrance stay balanced as for citruses I can’t really pinpoint.

This fragrance definitely does not smell dated it smells sexy. I would say the blend is beautiful for the right occasion.

Jenbug23

I was so apprehensive because me and Mancera have not been seeing eye to eye recently but this is beautiful! I blind bought and I’m glad I have this beauty. Very sweet. Initial blast is very strong candy like scent. Probably due to the citrus notes but it’s very sweet. Makes me want some candy. I don’t get powder or musk which is absolutely fine! Just orange chocolate candy. A hit!

EmpressVision

Love the chocolate & hazelnut notes. Gourmand heaven! Then the geriatric powdery notes from the musk, vanilla & violets ruins everything. CLOYING! 😢 I get zero citrus which would go a long way in balancing the powdery. The sillage & longevity are powerful. In my mind, it's like someone's Nana on the prowl for younger men. I've had it a year. I tried & tried...& cannot. ☹️ Another Mancera blind buy that didn't work out.

6/23/23--Still have the almost full 4oz bottle. Link me for a swap or sale.

Shaina87

I wasn't sure about this one when I first bought it. But the more I wore it the more I liked it. It's actually a stunner! And quite unique imo. The hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla with a powdery violet and light musk work incredibly well together on my skin. There's even a slight brightness from the orange and lemon. It's very warm and sweet but not cloying. The notes are blended so beautifully. I'm kinda obsessed with it now! It's way better than Chocolate Greedy in my opinion. I love the inclusion of the violet and musk. I received this during the summer so I can't wait to see what it wears like in cold weather.

Edit/ as suspected this works so well in the cooler weather. Somehow this scent makes me feel less anxious. Magic.

betsyglez8

Im always sleeping On this one and so blue ,
Like I know I love them but every time I walk in the perfume shops I cheat on them with other fragrances .

I love gourmands and one of my favorite flowers in fragrance is violets ,
This is a beautiful blend , maybe because I know I can easily get choco violets or I’m waiting for winter .
I still have a lot of chocolate fragrances also .

BUT this is beautiful I love it honestly buy it if you love gourmands .
I do find it similar to móntale chocolate greedy so also I’ve been sleeping on it for that reason I haven’t finished my bottle . 🍫

SunShea

My first review here is for this big love of mine!
This is probably the first perfume that gives meaning to the term olfactory to me! I could describe it as an adventure of the fairy called Hazelnut that suddenly finds herself in the midst of a violet field and the violets whisper to her to take certain direction. The fairy wanders for half and hour and then heads towards a pathway that seems familiar to her. It leads to a cedar forest where she could walk for hours and dream away and sing along until she gets so tired that she finds a pillow made of vanilla and hugs it into a gentle hug.
Amazing sillage , longevity and projection throughout the day! Surprisingly good performance for super hot days!

TheCoolNose

Big love! Huge chocolate note fan here. Does resemble Roses Chocolate (same brand), but different enough for me to own both! <3

AlaskanAngel

On me this is even more gourmand than Chocolate Greedy!! Somehow the violets amplify the sweetness and airy quality making it resemble marshmallows. I don't get any citrus or nut notes like the description says. Just white chocolate violet candy sugar puffs. Wish I could find those other notes!

Chocolate Greedy at least has some depth, it's richer and the malt accord is almost woody in the dry down. Choco Violet is more like candy floss. Just SO sweet... lacking any substance. I would have to layer this to wear it. This just doesn't feel like a complete scent story.

Review of full bottle blind-buy.

Vellocet

Dark chocolate, vanilla and violet? YES. Notes I love combined therefore a super safe blind buy for me. The violet is prominent the first 30~ minutes and then it dries down to a powdery, cocoa vanilla scent. The dry down is almost identical to chocolate greedy, but the violet gives this one an extra delicate touch to it.

Kikibabe

I loooove this perfume is my fave of all time. Keep in mind i own luxury brands as well but this one ughh. Its so delicious, so sweet just perfect. I wear it everyday summer winter idc lol. Lasts a long time and project really well. 100/10

Pic

For my nose, literally Guerlain Insolence + Montale Chocolate Greedy. Deliciousness. Good sillage, great longevity.

amvirina

this perfume smells so nice! quite sweet (almost cloying for some) and subtly floral. unfortunately doesn’t work well with my skin chem :( it’s pleasant for the first few hours but then becomes almost medication-like after. sillage isn’t great on me either but I imagine if this frag works for you, like really works for you, it could be an amazing signature scent 💜

clemmy

You will have the nutella chocolate at first, followed by a dry, powdery sweet and delicate violet. After about 20 minutes what will stay is an intense vanilla pastry. Do I love it? oh yes, in every sense. I cannot detect orange and bergamot as head notes. There can be some white musk but undetectable.
If you are looking for gourmand and vanilla fragrances in a different declination, this is great for your collection.
I never tried something like that, it was love at first sniff, like a mind-blowing experience.
I tried in a big airport, I sprayed it on my scarf and the only thing I could think was to get this perfume asap once at home. Also my mum and sister loved that!!!
But I do not recommend blind buy. 4/5

mrshnchnkm

First of all, the longevity is eternal. If it gets on clothes, it can stay there for weeks.

It's okay! I love the way it smells like nutella and nut cookies in the first few hours, but the dry down smells like vanillin and it's cloyingly sweet. It's like when you use too much vanillin and instead of being sweet and vanilla it becomes bitter and cloying.

ashashashash

Wow, I truly disliked this perfume (and I really like their Roses Vanille). When it dried down, it smelled exactly like the powder that comes in a packet of Emergen-C. It's crushed vitamin C powder! Not sure which part of that translates to chocolate or violet.

ivoryselket

The smell is really nauseous. Chocolate? Nice. Violets? Amazing. Both? Utterly disgusting. I regret buying it. Fortunately I bought a decant, bus still very disappointed with it.

KymIndigo

This perfume is exactly what it says, in the best way. First spray is gourmand hazelnut chocolate. Mostly a nutty hazelnut, with a bit of chocolate and vanilla underneath. Once it settles, it becomes almost-but-not-quite a freshly baked cookie scent. A light floral violet and musk keeps it just in perfume territory, but the gourmand, yummy, nutty chocolate is definitely still centre stage.

Choco Violette is simple but it's great at it. It would be a fun scent to wear to a party or a day out with friends, or even just a pick me up on weekends at home.

cypriotsister

I only bought this a couple of days ago and it’s all I think about.. WOW this is good. 🤤 I get a BLAST of chocolaty roasted hazelnuts at first spray and in the dry down I swear I smell like I’ve been baking cookies 🍪 My first words when I sprayed this were, “COCO POPS!!!”🥣 REALISTIC chocolate IMO 😍 I’m soo addicted it’s no joke. Opens similar to CG.
The only thing I’d say is, the Violet in this is NOT a sweet powdery candied violet like in insolence. 💜 This Violet is extremely GREEN!! Like it still has all the stems & leaves on.🍃 Bit of an awkward note & at first I wasn’t keen, but now, the more I smell it, I realised it makes this fragrance wayyy more wearable, balanced and not sickly sweet at all! 👏
You HAVE to like dark Chocolate & Violets in your perfume to enjoy this because it really does what it says on the bottle! 🍫💜🍃

Michael62

Upon subsequent wearing as I am now picking up the hazelnut/chocolate combo as the violet subsides and becomes less intrusive. And it has great sillage.

JellyB88yummy

I initially got a decant of this, at first sniff I was like that smells like something I smelt in my childhood 4 decades ago (if your younger than me this would smell new because I haven't come across that violet in a very long time), so I wore it out and it grew on me. I came to love this scent after wearing it on a hot day and I turned people's heads with how it was projecting. Now to compare it to chocolate greedy, CG is a chocolate biscuit while CV there is a deeper chocolate with violet that makes the dry down so beautiful. The strength of violet dissipates but is still there with a yummy chocolate in the dry down. My bottom line is that I bought a full bottle and will definitely give this some thorough wear. ❤️

Michael62

Blind bought this based upon a lot of the positive reviews and I guess the hype surrounding the rich dark chocolate note. Although I like it I can’t get a lot of chocolate as the violet really drowns everything else out. To my nose it reminds me a lot of Tom Ford Black Violet but obviously at a lot cheaper price point. Quality is definitely there though as my first Mancera purchase I am nevertheless impressed and projection is awesome. Just hoping for more chocolate.

SailorV

Choco Violet has the same cocoa cereals in milk vibe as Al-Rehab Choco Musk. Very sweet and a little powdery. But the violet note is also very prominent, so the overall scent is not the same, at least not at first. In the opening I find the violet to be very green and ozonic, more like the leaf than the flower. Then it turns into a transparent, watery layer of violet blossoms that hovers above the thick chocolatey base and slowly vanishes. So, in the end I'm left with chocolate, musk and vanilla for many, many hours.

To be honest this mix of flowers and chocolate seems unharmonic to me. Sure, it does what it says on the tin, it's chocolate and violets, but they don't work together as well as I thought they would. Violet gourmands can be nice, just look at the classic Lolita Lempicka, but this one isn't to my taste. I like the final drydown, but at this point the scent is super similar to Choco Musk, which is considerably cheaper. So if I ever want to smell like coco pops, I would just get that and skip the dissonant violet note.

MeeZoo

Omg, you can taste the scent super delicious 😋, the opening is hazelnuts and then dark chocolate comes through, and both notes lasts for ever.
I bought it at first sniff and am super happy 😊.
I sprayed it into the AC and the room smelled amazing for 2 days.
Recommend to buy 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️

almondluver1

Rich, delicious and SUPER gourmand. Probably the most realistic chocolate fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It’s a nutella-y hazelnut chocolate (kinda like ferrero rocher chocolate) and smells SO yummy! It literally smells like a dark chocolate hazelnut cake. A lot of people say they get violets in here but I’m kinda not really getting it? but then again, I also don’t know what violets smell like so that’s probably why I don’t pick up on it 😂.

I bought Montale’s Chocolate Greedy before I got this one, and I remember I was worried that they would smell too similar but they’re different enough for you to own both. For me, the difference btwn this one & Chocolate Greedy is that the vanilla in CG is a lot more prominent. CG smells more like sweet vanilla & milk chocolate whereas this one is dark chocolate & hazelnut and its also richer, denser, and more complex to me as well. Both are extremely sweet.

Gail14

Mmmmm!! Starts off with a loud dose of Violet then simmers down and out comes the dusty chocolate!! Very different for my collection, but I like it!!! :)

MissAnnette

This is a fragrance I am quite unsure about. I am not sure if I really like it or just the idea of it. Violets and chocolates are both favorites of mine so when I saw both combined in one perfume I’m 100% on board. I’ve been lusting after this for years but it has only been made available recently in my country.

The chocolate in this is more like a hazelnut spread than chocolate. I like Nutella but I’m not quite sure I want to smell like it. The violets is surprisingly masculine leaning (I’ve always associated violets to be exclusively feminine unlike rose or iris which are unisex.) overall, the perfume is surprisingly not very sweet. It’s rather dry and dusty and it has this masculine musk note I usually get from men colognes. I can also smell a hidden woodsy note not listed in the scent pyramid. The thing that is holding me back is the nutty chocolate part and the violets part don’t seem to harmonize well together. It’s like two different perfumes layered on top of each other. It’s akin to a bad experiment on my part when I try to layer two of my perfumes and it is so obvious I sprayed two different perfumes and it’s just a mess. One drawback too is the blanket of sharp synthetic smell that is common in Mancera perfumes that I’ve learn to tolerate.

Obviously, it’s not a love at first sniff, but I’m not willing to write it off just yet. I have to disregard my expectations and judge it objectively. Pandemic is making it hard to test perfumes in-stores though. fingers-crossed it won’t be reformulated with the change to magnetic caps.

Tested from tester bottle in department store. Two sprays on the wrist.

Lastsuspect

Ok, before you keep scrolling, if you’re contemplating on blind buying “Choco Violet” DONT!

Heres why, right off the rip you get this weird “green”smell in the opening. Which, does stick around into the mid, sadly:/ The ones that have smelled “Choco Violet” know what I'm talking about it.

Sample first!

perfumes_addict

For sure this is the twin of Montale Chocolate Greedy. The difference is that Chocolate Greedy has something orangey in it and it seems very festive, smells like Christmas how I like to say, whereas Choco Violet, although has the same identical chocolatey DNA, is more refined, powdery/woody, leathery and florally, probably due to the violets. In any case, the violets and chocolate combination is AMAZING! So if you like Chocolate Greedy, then you will LOVE Choco Violet.

Hair2show

Recvd a sample and did THE tiniest spray. WOW! My sugared violet is there! Hi friend! I instantly smelled the violet, then the chocolate after. It has been on for about 30 minutes. Keep in mind, it was a tiny 1/8 spritz! I smell the remnants of Cocoa Pebbles cereal in the milk or a blast of Cocoa Puffs! This is not in a bad way but a comforting way that brings you back to childhood! I am really loving it! I am not sure I would go spray happy if it gets TOO chocolatey! I can smell the pure vanilla, but to me, sometimes chocolate morphs to a vanilla and vice versa! This is a good blind buy IF you like a milk chocolate/Cocoa Puff scent :)

Tee

this is super yummy! just like having candied violets then ferrero rocher too! realistic scent and lasts very long time even on my ultra dry skin!

Meggybelle

Ok ifeel like I am having a totally different experience than everyone else with this fragrance! To my nose i smell nothing green, fresh, or floral. I smell buttery biscuits! Butter cookies? Definitely unisex. Very interesting scent. It makes me want breakfast foods. I think if you wear this people would just think you love cooking delicious biscuits, cookies, or cakes. I think this would work in any season.

Robmeister32

two words ... Chocolate Greedy!

Palmer Eldritch

Hazelnut, chocolate, candied violets with vanilla cream??? SIGN ME UP!!!
I was really looking forward to this one... almost...ALMOST fell in love with it. However after a while this became unbearable for me.

Initially I skipped 'Chocolate Greedy' on a great deal, because I'm not into the mulled wine/dried spicy fruits accord. But then I discovered 'Choco Violet'...My favourite luxury chocolates are dark-violet pralines...and this has all the ingredients for it. So why not?
At first I was AMAZED at how delicious this smelled from first spray, at the 3 hour mark 'Choco Violet' reminded me of nutty-dark chocolate brownies with candied violets, nothing like Guerlain's 'Insolence'.

But the more times I wore this...the more that hazelnut-like note became overpowering...I don't know if its the combination of notes, but this perfume started smelling like assorted nuts that have been roasted too long...on the verge of being burnt! Very heavy on my skin.
Unfortunately this perfume lasts a heck of a long time with fantastic silage, making it absolutely perfect for the Siberian winter. Even though this is sweet, it's quite a unisex perfume. I initially got it due to raving reviews on the internet by male influencers!
Verdict: Try before you buy. Yes it's gourmand, but YMMV!

IlyannaRasputin

Recently got a sample of this and wow I’m amazed. As a gourmand lover, this is a must have. It’s chocolatey, nutty, almost cake-y. The chocolate in this is dark, sweet and a little powdery but not dusty like the chocolate in Mancera Roses and Chocolate. Something in this fragrance a little bit of green in the opening, maybe its from the bergamot? You can also detect the violet mixed in with the chocolate which gives the fragrance a fresh airiness, making this appropriate for most settings. The very drydown is chocolate vanilla heaven, absolutely beautiful and edible. Compared to other mancera’s the projection is not as big but it’s not a skin scent and lasts for about 7-8 hrs. Fully expected to get chocolate from Hugo Boss Private Accord (disappointed), but this one is the real chocolate sh*t. If you love chocolate fragrances, this is the one to get.

JuliusW65

A holy grail for all gourmand lovers, smooth and cool chocolate + violet that make overall scent very pleasing. Love this 3000!!!

olga.stratienko

Isolence guerlain memories.

Powdery gourmand, I smell nuts, hazelnuts and a bit violet at the beginning. After some time zero chocolate and a very familiar strong note: VIOLET. I smell guerlain isolence. Dubble checked it; yes, isolence is also a violet perfume.

But then again; the name should have been Violets Vanilla, because violets are strong. Also sweet vanilla note. No chocolate.
I even have to fantasize the chocolate note for myself.
I bought this one blind because i read good reviews about it, but bit disappointed the chocolate note isn’t strong here.

If you own isolence or know the smell, don’t expect something new. They’re almost identical (to me).

Selah

Mancera's "Choco Violet":
Chocolatey ganache-like with candied violets....Violets come out 30 min later.   1.5h later, mostly chocolate.   Only put a tiny dabber amount on my one wrist pulse point and inside elbow.....The Violet slows fades but it is still there... Will have to update later.... Need to wait for the deep dry-down.... I am undecided. Need to work with this before deciding if it's full bottle worthy.

Siljemariyeah

It's been two weeks since I wore this for a small get together dinner and my coat STILL smells strongly of it, as in whenever I pass by the coat in our hallway I smell this gorgeous perfume.
It smells like brownies with icing sugar on top for me. Or coco pops. It has a milky/doughy/cakey element to it and it smells absolutely edible. Powdery but not straight up violet to me.
The first seconds are a tad overwhelming, as it's just so strong.. And that is coming from someone who loves strong perfumes. But when you just let the perfume work on your skin it does wonders. With manceras I tend to not like them as much when I stick my nose straight into wherever I've sprayed. The cloud it makes is bomb though.
Lasting power and projection is out of this world!
Also received compliments from strangers on this one, which is highly unusual where I live 😅 Especially when people are totally sober. Was told I smelled like something you could eat or a bakery.

This is a gorgeous autumn and spring scent in my opinion (winter too, but I prefer it during transitional seasons). If you like the smell of violets and like gourmand perfumes, try this. This is nutty and chocolatey with whiffs of candied violet. The nuttiness stops it from being overly sweet.
To me it is uplifting and comforting. I love walking around outside with this on, especially during the autumn season.
This projects nicely around you about arm's length, maybe a little more. It lasts a good 10+ hours and stays on clothes for days. You only need 1-2 sprays. Don't overdo it or you will not get the real effect of this scent.

kopche

Absolutely in love with it! Can stop sniffing my self! Adorable scent of violets rounded by chocolate!

farez.rahman

Literally absolutely the most disgusting thing I’ve ever smelled 😐

Magifera

Old fashioned, nostalgic, chalky violet pastilles.

Will Bagwell

Had a decant some years ago. Traded it because I thought it was too heavy and feminine.

Years later... Caught a deal on a 120 ml. Love it! Think Chocolate Greedy with violet. The violet adds a much needed airy demension that Chocolate Greedy lacks.

This is a great Winter fragrance. Completely unisex.

herzl_f

I do not like the opening of this at all - it is too heady for me. However, the floral notes bloom after around 30 minutes or so, and the powdery violet stays throughout the wear time of around 5-6 hours on me as a skin scent.

I personally like perfumes with soft sillage because scent is private for me; I get to choose who can come close enough to smell me. This is a beautiful skin scent, but I suggest waiting for the drydown before heading out the door.

márti.vincze

The opening is a blast of chocolate and violet candy. A floral gourmand like those violet pastilles / Choward's violet candy. Delectable! Then the chocolate disappears and the vanilla comes forward. I sense no nuts or hazelnut.
Finally the perfume settles into a violet and lactonic scent on my skin - kind of like Comptoir Sud Pacific Matin Calin, or one of the "Lait" scents from Chabaud. Lightly wafting, coming and going. Vanilla, milk and powdery violets.

IMadeleine

This is a blind buy for me. At first sniff i didn't like at all and i planned to sell it, but after a while...omg i love it. In the beginning has a strong chocolate smell with violets and when it dries down is more violets than chocolate, but I don't mind. I love it as it is. I suggest ti get a sample first. It is not a safe blind buy. A good name for this one would be Violets &Choco. It kinda smells like a dessert with chicolate and a strong taste of violets, i don't know how to describe it, is deffinitely a unique smell!

UPDATE: I wore it at work this friday and one of my collegue said: i smell sugar in the air!

Yes, i love the gourmand violets❤️ Gourmand lovers, this is for you!

christinky

As a lover of violets I had to try this. I didn't think I was going to like this at first. The opening smells exactly like Al-Rehab Choco Musk, which I can't stand. However, if you are willing to stick out the too sweet, fake-smelling Choco Musk opening, the violet and floral aspects come through soon afterwards.

To me, the descriptions I have heard of dry cocoa powder are not right. This is not a dry smell, but a bubbling, sweet, chocolate ganache being prepared on the stove- fuming and boiling hot, sweet, and very chocolatey. The chocolate opening is very, very sweet, and continues to be very sweet chocolate. Meanwhile, a hazelnut cake is cooling nearby and awaiting the ganache. The ganache is poured over a hazelnut cake. The cake is later decorated with many sugared violets.

Again, I'm surprised I like it because of the Choco Musk likeness. It does have the synthetic vibe that is often associated with the house. However, I kept getting enjoyable wafts, and the lasting power is great, about 8-9/10.

It is pleasant and playful. To me, this is not a sophisticated scent. This is an everyday scent. It's perfect for fall, and I'll wear it in fall and winter when I don't wear my lighter or more sophisticated violet fragrances.

ivaylops

What an odd experience - I totally dislike the first five minutes and totally love the scent after that. It starts off with the nastiest combo of burned nuts you forgot in the oven and the cheapest 80% cocoa cooking chocolate you can find in the store. Thank God this smell completely disappears in just a few minutes and you're left with hours upon hours of beautiful powdery violets. Here in Bulgaria there's violet hard candy covered in fine sugary powder and this perfume smells exactly like that.
I do smell vanilla but only in the deep deep drydown.
Not sure how often I'll use it, but will definitely buy a bottle. Even if I only spray it while at home.

I'm genuinely confused why people compare it to Chocolate Greedy. Violet is a main player here and is nothing to be found in the Montale.

FreddyK

Just wow ! Delicious. To be honest the probability of a guy wearing this is really low...I could wear this without a problem on fall/winter time. Not necessarily masculine scent but it's pleasant and very long-lasting.

Mancera Choco Violet opens with a moderate to a strong projection of sweet, gourmand, floral, nutty, and slightly citrusy notes. The opening is exquisite, delicious, and very pleasant. The orange and bergamot are just a soft touch, not prominent; the dark chocolate and vanilla, on the other hand, are intense and delectable; the hazelnut is a tasty sweet nutty note; the violet is a fresh, airy, floral note but not as prominent as the chocolate or hazelnut. The white musk is a projecting accord but without any noticeable participation. The fragrance is relatively linear, except for the orange and bergamot, which come and go for a brief moment during the opening, all other notes continue into the dry-down. The most noticeable change in this fragrance is the loss of potency, the opening is moderate to strong, however, the dry-down is moderate to low. Once Mancera Choco Violet has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to low projection, very sweet vanilla, chocolate, and hazelnut fragrance with violet and very soft citrus accords. The fragrance feels comforting, creamy, delectable, delicious, exotic, fine, gourmand, inviting, mature, mild, modern, natural, rich, romantic, sweet, syrupy, unisex, warm, and very pleasant.

The fragrance feels comforting, creamy, delectable, delicious, exotic, fine, gourmand, inviting, mature, mild, modern, natural, rich, romantic, sweet, syrupy, unisex, warm, and very pleasant.

I have CSP Amour de Cocao, Chocolate Greedy & Aquolina Chocolovers (omg, can we all GASP together that Aquolina had the nerve to disc that BEAUTY??) THIS does not smell like those. It is Chocolate VIOLET! Not Chocolate & milk, or orange, the Violet STANDS OUT in this. I do not like violet perfumes, so I was really afraid to blind buy it. But, I love chocolate & most of the reviews weren't getting Violet, or much of it anyway. YES YOU CAN smell it here! But! It's blended well enough & with enough good ol' creamy chocolate that I'm ok with it. I do however love all of the others better. Along with Al Rehab's Choco Musk. Goodness that's amazing. ONLY in the oil tho, the spray water is exactly that...spray water. I will wear & enjoy, but there's better chocolates for me. But, If you like violets, here ya go!!!

forêt

I ordered 5 ml decants of 4 Manceras and I’m sampling this first. Wow! It is mouth watering and I love the violet note! I am impressed by the sillage so far- this is a very come-hither scent I may need to acquire. Let’s see which one I pick:-)
I just want to add that I love the strength of this and have been experiencing frustration with my favorite perfume of the moment- Angel Muse- which interestingly also has a chocolate/hazelnut accord. I just wish that my Angel Muse were as strong as this.

BigDMike19

This is a great gourmand! Its straight down the line, unisex. My wife loves it as well. Great hazelnut, chocolate, violet and vanilla. It's bliss! Only downside is that spring is coming and this is best suited for cold weather and nights but I'll be spraying what I can in the meantime.

CLevol

The opening is the most stunning chocolate-hazelnut i have ever smelled.
Unfortunately after 15 minutes it turned into a common Arabian vanille-with a-hint-of-chocolate scent.., cloying and boring..and almost too cheap.. a cheap ending like Choco musk from Al Rehab That unfortunately some Montales and even Bond perfumes have in common.

Mim

Oh, the blind buys!
This perfume is a somewhat puzzling brew, for sure.
Slightly bitter roasted hazelnut opening smells like a dessert in preparation, very similar to Chocolovers or L'Erbolario's Argan oil perfume.
In a moment, Amour the Cacao emerges to my surprise. At this point, I'm getting slightly mad; nothing original happens. It's a milk chocolate fragrance, seen so many times before. However, it is alluring. The chocolate in Choco Violette stays sweet and milky (due to decadent vanilla and hazelnut).
I couldn't detect violet for quite some time on my skin (and dark chocolate + violets make my fantasy combination (one that I would smell in "Amortentia")). So, I was worried. However, violet came shining half an hour later, and that's when the magic happened. It is a game-changer.
Yes, she is modest and bashful in this fragrance, but it brings freshness and much-needed uniqueness to this perfume; violet adds a certain powdery sophistication to the mix. It is lovely.
The perfume lasts above 12 hours on my skin (sillage is heavy in the beginning and moderate later on). After all, this was a successful blind buy. This perfume deserves a place among violet fragrances. :)

ellesfolly

I got roasted hazelnuts rolled in powdery violets. Not my thing at all. traded

biglex

Daaamm, how did i overlook this juice from 1 of my sample packs. I had many manceras so i just blew threw most of them. Choco violette didnt catch my eye mainly because of the chocolate and flowers, i wasn't feeling. Gave this juice a fair test drive 2day, wow!!! This is a beautiful and attractive scent. The chocolate isn't heavy. That violet flower is sooo smooth. Its like the violet and chocolate is infatuated with each other. Cant forget another main contributor ,hazelnut. This fragrance is an experience

Violinplayah

Oh this is a fun one! So glad I risked the blind buy when I found a good price! I could only get the 4 oz bottle so I was a little nervous, but this is a casual scent I could even wear in summer, so I don’t think it will be wasted. It starts off with a powdered milk chocolate foreground, (think hot cocoa powder) but a sweet violet is already there with it just behind. A few minutes in the hazelnut comes out, but at this point I also get something like fresh raspberries too, not sugar syrup, but fresh and cool, adding some yummy juiciness to the dry composition. Another blind buy win, and a really enjoyable fragrance! The sweetness is tempered by the hazelnut and berry note so while very edible, I’d say this could be a gourmand for those who don’t like the overboard candy floss and diabetes trend.

every108minutes

Hazelnut biscuit, chocolate, violet. Thermonuclear projection. Absolutely delightful.

Winki

I have had difficulty finding a chocolate scent as well as a violet scent that agree with my chemistry. This was a complete joy at first sniff! Perfect balance of both of the elusive scents with a light touch of powder! Stays true for me through dry down. Long lasting but not overpowering.

Luz huff

The opening is terrible , IMO. As i sprayed it on my wrist i immediately picked up hazelnut, then, 5 or 10 minutes after, things start getting better, i detected chocolate and violet, and in the dry down, only chocolate. Have a decant but i think i want a full bottle of this one 😊😊😊. It smells beautiful !!!. Note: longevity and sillage are great, it last a good 12 hours on my skin.

Top notes: bergamot,hazelnut,orange.
Middle notes: dark chocolate,violet.
Base notes: Madagascar vanilla,white musk.

smunitz

Love this one and I am not a big fan of Mancera as a brand!
This was love at first sniff: the chocolate, the hazelnut. the vanilla and violet on the background - surprisingly well put together scent with excellent performance. My favorite fall and winter fragrance. Manceras do not have best openings, so the trick is to smell the dry-down when you test it since the dry-down lingers for good 10-12 hours, that's the one you want to be comfortable with! :) Definitely, test it before you buy it but if you, like me, dislike Manceras as glorified deodorants, this one is the real deal! Trust me!!!

aayushi5

Chocolate & violet playing hide-n-seek on your skin, a bit powdery as well - that's the main impression I get. The chocolate note has a chocolate biscuit vibe to it - it's not thick, dark & deep. Floral-fruity aspect and medium intensity chocolate makes it a delight to wear both morning & night. Very potent fragrance which is always a plus. Overall I enjoy wearing this.

tayyabforyouth

The opening smells of violets and chocolate, but the chocolate is the dark unsweetened kind. Don't really like this but I have a love-hate relationship with violet as a note. Not very sweet at all.

I already made a review but I've come back to add more;
I REALLY don't do gourmands, but this is the only exception.
The hazelnut really lingers until the end until, I think that's what makes this so different to every other vanilla-musk dry down.
You can smell quality in this!
This seriously lasts 2-3 days when I sprayed it once in the hallway!
Every time I'd walk past the area I could smell it, how impressive!
My boyfriend said he couldn't get enough of it, "it makes you want to keep coming back to smell it" and I completely agree!
(:

As of 01/30/19, I have worn this fragrance once.

- It's sweet, strong but delicate, and oh so sensual.

I often give Mancera a hard time because of the synthetic-vibe of their fragrances, at a $120+ price-tag. But this isn't bad. But it's not bottle worthy imo.

I wish they made this one a bit more masculine. Too femme for me. I will keep it around for the ladies.

*Oh! back to the review!

Linear. But I wasn't expecting this to change much.

I hear people saying that they don't smell the citrus. I do! This citrus in this fragrance is meant to lift those heavy/savory chocolate and violet notes off your body. Without the citrus, this fragrance would be stiff and nauseating. This was blending well imo.

* I've only tried Hindu Kush and this take from the Mancera house. I'm 1/2 as far as fragrances I would wear. Hindu Kush is one of my signature scents.

But I will the reserve CV for the lady in my life, and she better pray she doesn't get eaten. (oh, the entendre!)

Alisaaa131

Had a hard time deciding between this and Roses & Chocolate as I was looking for a floral-chocolate fragrance.
I couldn't find much information on this one as the latter seems more popular.
It was risky but I'm really happy I chose this one!!
Initial spray I thought "crap why did I buy this... This is like burnt sugar.." the hazelnut with orange threw me off and did something weird to my skin.. It was quite bitter...
But by the middle notes I get mostly chocolate and the violet took a while to appear but not as pronounced.
It's SO interesting I can't stop huffing my arm!
Why aren't people talking about this more?? This is extremely underrated!!
What I find unique is that every time I smell my arm I think "it's mostly chocolate" to then "oh I smell more violet!"
It's a very sweet and powdery fragrance, sweeter than what I'm used to.
I'd put it in the same sweetness level as Givenchy's Hot Couture or Pink Sugar if that can give you an idea.
This is my first Mancera fragrance and I'm definitely interested in purchasing more!!
I'll be back with an update on longevity and feedback from family (:

Edit - This has ENORMOUS sillage with just 2 sprays- one on the wrist and my neck. I could smell this for 12 freaking hours! I've never had a fragrance last so long and so intensely, I went to the gym and suffocated myself with my own fragrance so I gotta be careful with when I spray this. I've also tried spraying a rose fragrance on top and it's just UGH! <3

illestindo

So, I blind bought this one. This one smells almost the same as Chocolate Greedy from Montale and Caramel Salt from Shay & Blue. Only choco violet doesn’t have the strong opening from the bitter orange in Chocolate Greedy. Will say that this fragrances is closer to Caramel Salt than Chocolate Greedy. Very dissapointing, now I have 2 redundant fragrances.

thechantal

Yes please

MSC

This is quite unique but only for a few hours when the violet and chocolate combo is prominent.
After that all i can smell is chocolate with hazelnuts and quite frankly it gets boring. I wish the violet would stay longer.
This lasts atleast 8 hours with 2 hours of good projection, it is as unisex as nutella is.

butterbean

Yummy!

this is quite chocolatey.... but the chocolate fades off to violets and becomes very powdery.

Eyeteach

What bberns 22 said.
And I’ll add that it’s soft but noticeable. (I’d like it just a bit turned up.) But it truly is a beautiful scent.

8/10

Update: I was wrong about this needing to be turned up a notch. It’s perfect!

10/10

bberns22

Love it Love it... Really unusual fragrance as it has a split personality, dichotomous violet & chocolate. The strong violet rides on the top with a deep chocolate as a foundation. Its like two different fragrances, one on top of the other and, they do not mix but they each stand alone. Like nothing else I have ever encountered..

Djedi

This is an interesting one.

I couldn't believe how close this indeed smelled to those chocolate ice cream disks another user below mentioned.

The opening is nutty, bittersweet, and powdery. The chocolate is not of the sweet kind but the notes are all balanced thus making it perfectly unisex. As the scent progresses the vanilla and a slight white musk come through but all in all the composition is quite linear from start to finish. One of the best chocolate based fragrances if you ask me.

The violet is projecting through the life of the fragrance and of course gives it that powdery feel. But all in all the scent doesn't become saccharine which is a plus if you ask me.

The projection is great and this one just sticks to the skin as well. Longevity is pretty much the whole day. Great gourmand scent from Mancera.

8/10

Hastey

This is a fail on my skin, had to wash it off. The hazelnut is bitter and piercing, add to that bitter dark chocolate and the bitterness dominates the fragrance, not pleasant at all.

24aln

5/10. I wanted it to love sooo bad, but it didn't happen. MAYBE it will, but not yet. To me it doesn't really smell like chocolate, it smells like hazelnuts at the beginning for about 30 minutes, and then it starts to smell very acidly and violet(maybe acidly vanilla?)Thats all I can smell. I wouldn't really recommend this scent, if you wanna smell chocolaty go for Montale chocolate Greedy. But the longevity is great.

ritankar sasmal

Worst perfume ever!!! First fragrance that i had to literally wash off of my hand as i couldn't stand the weird smell... Totally messed up composition!

ellaquintero

I have a couple of days with a little decant of this beauty, and I can tell you that Choco Violet and I... we get along very well.

It is a fragrance that fulfills what it promises. Since the beginning, it has a strong smell of dark chocolate and violets. There's no more. The following notes are there to make it a little bit better, but they do not play a very important role to my nose.

The hazelnut has a delicious "Nutella-esc" smell that gives a gourmand character to Choco Violet, but I do not think it is a fragrance of this family.

Vanilla is the one note that gives Choco Violet a depth and heaviness that makes it perfect for a sweet winter. On my skin, the citrus does not appear and the musk is very hidden under the creamy chocolate vanilla.

It is an elegant and very durable perfume. It does not have a great stele, but remains close to skin for more than 12 hours.

It is for lovers of sweetness, but it does not cause me any headache or pisses me in any way. At first, the violets can seem very intense and sweet, but give them an opportunity to settle on your skin to discover their beauty.

Jenge

This is my first experience with Mancera and is not what I was expecting at all. I wanted a fresh, airy violet with chocolate ganache all nice and sweet and confectionary. This to me smells like scalded milk and Cashmere wood. There's a bit of violet in the opening but it's just not for me at all. I like a sweeter fresher take on violet and I can see how this is unisex because it has a masculine undertone at the dry down.

gtabasso

Chocolate. Period. Oh, and marshmallow.

deruitem

I am digging this one so far.

I didn't get a lot of citrus in the opening but to be honest I was not trying to find it. I may have gotten some very short lived orange.

The violet seems present through out but not overly loud. The hazelnut and chocolate are the star here. The vanilla adds a smooth creaminess with a touch of sweet sugar. There is some spice that reminds me of cinnamon or nutmeg. This is a nicely balanced perfume that is very unisex. I cant wait to see how it performs. This is my first day wearing it so I will have to update the review later!

smellagent

I recently sampled this perfume and agree that it is spectacular. Chocolate is tricky for me but not here. The sweetness is balanced with some nuttiness and a little sparkle from the citrus. The violet rides side by side with the chocolate the whole way. I smell each equally which I find interesting. Not loud but not a skin scent either. This lasted the whole day on me. All in all a smooth balanced year round not overly sweet perfume. I would buy a FB or at least a large decant.
