Winter Palace by Memo Paris is a Aromatic Green fragrance for women and men. Winter Palace was launched in 2019. The nose behind this fragrance is Alienor Massenet.

"The awakening of the dragon, imperial. Eyes sparkling with icy fire. Oil of orange. He rises above my cup of red tea, his breath swirling the flavor of bergamot. His trembling shadow stretches out to my place in the hall of honor. Suddenly the heat swells, and the atmosphere shifts from citrus to intense wood. Soaring into the air, he vanishes from the palace in a flash of powder. Benzoin. What is he looking for? All of a sudden, it stops snowing outside. I can see him in the distance, undulating in sync with the Great Wall of China. The dragon is dancing with joy, drunk on freedom. He sows an everlasting spring, maté tea, grapefruit, and yet leaves a wake of passionate amber and vanilla. Winter Palace has freed its emissary, a winged and tenacious dragon king with a trail of fire", - a note from the brand.

A sweet blend of citrus (mainly orange) and tea. There are some nice balsamic touches and something that almost evokes spiciness.

I think this is a great fragrance for transitory seasons like fall and spring where it's not too hot and not too cold out.

Totally unisex. A brilliant tea and citrus fragrance.

Loose Goose

Very intriguing scent, it took me quite a while to get used to it and recognize its notes.
It opens with a fresh citrus that's not overpowering, and quickly calms into a beautiful orange with some tea in the background, eventually it dries down into a unique take on tea, quite similar to actual red tea, but with a mix of vanilla and amber.
Overall I really love the orange scent in it, but I find it hard to pick up after a few hours.

joelbaby

Ugh! Smells sickly sweet to me and not in a good way. Not a safe blind buy. Try first.

MissMagic

Ooohhh what a fragrance! My favorite Memo Paris fragrance. Immediately, with the first spray, you smell the uniqueness of the fragrance. It opens fresh and zesty, but not overly acid, somehow creamy and spicy. It has a warm tone to it, making it perfect for colder days but zesty enough for warmer days. It is sprinkly like a chai tea but not spicy enough to be an oriental smell. It’s such an intoxicating fragrance, you cannot remove your hand to stop decoding the aromas. I have never smelled anything similar (still a newbie, though!). To me it has such a nice blend of a bitter tea, somehow bitter orange and grapefruit mixed with something creamy, spicy and warm.
I am a huge fan of Kenzo Jungle. Whilst it does remind me of it, the smell is totally different. Jungle is definitely spicy oriental, and this one cozy spicy.

So happy I found this fragrance, super unique and feminine, but not too much. No unnecessary sweetness or flowers. I have yet to test the longevity and silage, but based on first impressions, both seem moderate to low (sadly).

This is the tea fragrance that set me off into a rabbit hole. Hands down my favourite tea fragrance I have ever smelled. It’s not a typical tea freshie the way most are, it has body and character from the tonka and amber notes. It smells like a spiced, tea latte you’d sip in the dead of winter. Almost like a chai latte (with a bit of whatever spice is in rootbeer) but not so on the nose and a more elevated and something more or ne sais quoi about it. It was the first sample I got that completely emptied within a couple days. I will say the performance is not great and usually I dock a point for that but the scent is just so good that I still gave it a 5. Love this. Would bathe in it if I could and I e never said that about a fragrance and my collection now is 100+ bottles.

Marli1973

I love Memo, many years ago I purchased BR540 and the shopping assistant gave me various samples with the purchase, one of them was Sintra. That was my introduction to the niche house.
I knew from the first sniff, that the quality was amazing. So I decided to explore the perfumes and my first purchase was French leather, then Lalibela, Sherwood and now the beloved Memo - the house signature.
With the discovery set was easy to put aside that Iberian leather was not for me nor the best seller African leather.
I was very curious about Winter Palace so I ordered a sample. I am glad I did. WP is not for me, I think it smells exactly the same as vanilla sublime by Creed and I couldn’t never get on with that citrusy mixed with vanilla. Sounds like lemon drizzle cake but in perfumery it doesn’t work for me.

rubyfruit

Oh, how I wanted to like this. I love all of the notes listed, and I was searching for a wintery citrus scent. Unfortunately this somehow smells like cheap tutti frutti bubblegum on my skin (more specifically, it's a dead ringer for a bubble gum scented shower gel I used as a kid).

aniton

This fragrance is therapy. It's aromatic and reminiscent of a calming and invigorating cup of citrus-spiked warm tea. Really comforting, best worn on sunny winter weekends.

arefuthescroob

It is a beautiful festive tea scent. Love it!

Pilikins

This is a beautiful tea perfume which starts out zingy fresh with citrus and then transforms to become warm, with spicy tonka dominating. It is suitable for all seasons - it is high summer here (40 degrees) and it is delicious but I imagine that it will be fantastic in winter. It wears quite close to the skin, and longevity is great. Unisex. Probably wouldn’t wear at work and I wouldn’t blind buy.

mctaboo

@Marcx Said it best here.
But I'd like to add: Super artificial Lemon.. very sharp sour nauseating Lemon.
Not a single hint of tea though, unless my bottle was tampered with "which would explain why the vast majority say the opposite".

TBonetheFella

Sipping on a warm and cozying up next to the window with a cup of tea that has a hefty squeeze of every citrus you had available, a drop of sweet vanilla extract, and a twinge of milk. The snow or cold rain beats against the window as you curl up with your blanket and sip your tea. Life is good.

This scent starts with a bright citrus and tea blast, a creamy blend mixing them together oh so delectably. As it dries down it gains more and more of this sweet and resinous vanilla amber combo that is just so good.

This opening might not be for everyone, but give it 10 or so minutes and some room to breathe and this fragrance is divine. The dry down base on paper is very similar to a much less labdanum heavy “Grand Soir” by MFK. This is super cozy and I have worn it nonstop since getting it from a trade (thanks Grady)! This is a great fragrance for any snowy or rainy day/date in, or if you want to bring that energy with you :)

Long last performance with moderate projection. Surprising compliment magnet. Unisex. 9/10

Happy smelling!

Alephandr

Disappointed with this one, but it might be a mismatch of expectations. It's a sweet, warm, creamy citrus fragrance, smells like orange-vanilla soda, pleasant and comforting, doesn't evolve much, lasts and projects alright. I call these types of scents "lemon candy" and would never pay Memo money for a lemon candy perfume, even though Winter Palace is probably the deepest and nicest of any that i tried. I truly love many gourmands, but there is something inherently unsophisticated about a sweet citrus to me.
I think with the beautiful bottle and dragon imagery I was hoping for something more interesting, maybe more bitter and smoky from the tea, or more pronounced resins.

koxayous

came for the bottle stayed for the smell:)
absolutely addictive!

opens up with a strong sweet tea blast (never smelled red tea. I get a typical black tea here) with a minty (fizzy) quality about it.
i find most of the "too sweet" fragrances tiring to wear, but thanks to that mineral quality winter palace achieves a perfect harmony between tea, spices and sweets.

great for winter days indeed, its very relaxing and cozy.

NeonGray

BUBBLEGUM. Like bubblegum machine type of bubblegum. Elevated, but nauseating.

Lom

I know the notes are very different, but Winter Palace makes me think of Fils de Joie by Serge Lutens. Even though this perfume is tea and citrus, while Fils de Joie is flowers and honey. I enjoy both a lot.

frend7

This is a versatile fragrance with freshness and warmth blended nicely to result in a citrusy, vanilla scent that I found to be quite cosy. At time of testing, the temps were slightly warm which I found suited this. I can imagine it working in colder weather. I often find fragrances with a bergamot opening to be sharp to my nose on skin, but this was quite muted and I found that to be nice. Projection isn't that great and longevity not that great on my skin, which for the price doesn't justify a full bottle purchase for me. Still a great all year round versatile fragrance that I can see working brilliantly with some people's skin chemistry.

ivar.ks

Smells like a fanta lol its very good might have to get a full bottle!!

ZagaEffy

Let me get that straight: this fragrance is nothing groundbreaking, but it's bringing a lot of comfort during the winter season. I added it to my collection this autumn, so I can't say how it would perform during warm weather. It's very citrusy, so I'm guessing it could work well in the spring. Not sure about the summer, though.

As mentioned before, citrus notes are very pronounced. Then the warmth hits you; however, it doesn't come from spices but balsams, vanilla, and amber accords. I'm not sure what exactly gives this effect, but I can detect a bit of wax.

Worth testing, but I'm not sure if it's a safe blind buy, considering how hyped it is. I'd still sample it before purchasing because some people could be disappointed.

Marcx

No tea. No shade

I tried. I thought I’m going to like this on paper. But I don’t think it’s my thing. So do not blind buy. There’s not correlation of anything to China? I’m not sure why but because of tea? Marketing? I don’t know. But yeah it’s not interesting to me. It’s blah. No depth on me. Just citrus and hint of musk vanillaI want to wash it off. Not understanding the hype. Not my cuppa. No tea smell to be honest. Just the real T.

I’m just Disappointed

Clairexoxo

I love this!! I agree with the comments mentioning candy. To me it smells like a creamy, warm, sweet, orangy, spicy, balsamic, red tea candy. Sounds weird? Well it’s actually extremely pleasant and balanced. The tolu balsam note makes this so interesting by adding nice basalmic accords! The spiciness is kind of reminiscent of ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom to me — which I love. Rounded with vanilla. Definitely a beautiful surprise. For the performance: not beast mode but fair. On my skin, it lasts about 4 hours. It lasts 1-2 day(s) on warm clothing. Sillage is average and comforting.

Love Hate Love

gemma_ni

This scent whispers of a kitchen cupboard, brimming with edible spices like clove, cinnamon, and ginger that blend into an 'amber accord'. Beneath that, there's a soapy whisper of musk that transforms the spiced juice into a perfume.

I blind-bought my full bottle from Jomashop. Perhaps it's an older batch, which might explain why some retailers offer it at a discount. Nevertheless, I can't detect the citrusy top note in my bottle at all. It's likely so fleeting it vanished during long-term storage.

The driving force behind my spontaneous purchase was the bottle's design—a masterpiece that echoes my cultural heritage. As a collector of Memo, I regard them bold enough to blaze trails and yet harmonious enough to never overstep into the realm of the unpleasing. They strike a balance between artistry and marketability.

When it comes to whether it's a tea fragrance, think of it this way: if you're a fan of the rich complexity of dark chocolate blended with spices and dried fruit, Winter Palace might be to your liking. My palate, with its preference for simple, sweet milk chocolate candy, doesn't discern any tea notes in this fragrance—similarly to how I don't associate the sophistication of 'adult chocolate' with my straightforward chocolate delights.

To be more specific, Winter Palace smells like a milder version of Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle. I have both and they are definitely brothers!

thegoob

Winter Palace has tons of character and screams Fall-- it's a faraway combination of light and dark, bright-but-mellow citrus and dark-yet-convivial black tea with a warm but not impenetrably resinous backbone. I get a blunted but well-projecting orange note, surrounded by equally noticeable lemon and freshly brewed black tea. It sandwiches the warm and bright notes into each other, so you never get one without the other. It isn't your typical cold weather scent; for me, it redefines the notion of "comforting" where it's become boring and rife with approximation to heavy base notes or linear vanilla and amber. Palace is incredibly well-blended, intriguing, and projects off the skin well with no harsh notes (though it isn't completely amorphous either). It's a testament to the fact that moderate can be far more distinct than either the citrusy or spicy extremes you get in the traditional library of tea scents. Unique and worth a try if you want a creative dedication to tea that takes you somewhere new entirely.

saltywagonjuggler

Complex yet inoffensive. Lots of interesting notes to pick up on. I’m addicted to the resinous vanilla mixing with the aromatic teas. The citrus notes are prominent but welcome as they balance out the spiciness of the base. This could last longer for the price, though. Great pyramid. Delicious stuff. 7/10

aibhlin

very strong orange and lemon in the opening, not sharp, with a hint of tea. like a sparkly, candy scent but sophisticated.

chamomilerosetea

This is a warm comforting fragrance that truly captures the feeling of winter. It feels like a hug and the feeling of the winter evenings with a cup of chai by a fire. I sadly do not smell much red tea or tea at all. It simply smells like a deliciously warm and spicy fragrance on my skin.
If looking for a tea fragrance, I wouldn't go for this one, but anyone who loves a warm amber or ambery gourmand I recommend.

mmcgill829

Memo is an interesting house. I really enjoy Russian Leather, so tried a few others and...it's been hit or miss.

This offering was an interesting experience. Initially, I was blasted with what smelled like PEZ or Smarties candy smell - a sort of dusty, citrus vanilla that kind of had a little bit of sparkle to it. Within 10 minutes it dried down to a slightly warmer citrus/vanilla - likely the tonka mellowing it out some, though at this point it reminded me of bubblegum somewhat. A sweet, VERY light fragrance. Within 30 minutes, I could hardly even find this scent on my skin anywhere. For this price point, 10-12 hours longevity is really a must. Pass.

windchime_00

The first time I smelled it, it took me on a journey and my eyes rolled back in the best way, just a rich, slightly sweetened red tea with some gentle spices. It seemed to be a lighter cold weather gourmand that was more flexible (like 5 o clock Gingembre). Most of the winter fragrances I have are more dense and therefore more limited for me and my lifestyle. It also doesn't hurt that the bottle is beautiful.

Testing it again, It feels more mono-note vanilla and mate, but I'm giving it time. It is still very warm where I live. Sillage and projection both seem moderate.

Vesperexa

For me, tea scents exist along a continuum, with fresh and juicy at one end and warm and spicy at the other. This one is somewhere in the middle. It starts on the fresh side and moves towards the spicy/warm end as time goes on. The opening is very lemony, and then it dries down into something more similar to Remember Me by Jovoy. I like Remember Me better though. This is a true unisex, and an interesting fragrance, but it's not that appealing to me. I agree with Lucas Liw that the concept reeks of orientalism, and he's also absolutely right about the drydown smelling like nag champa. I'm surprised that the performance has been rated so highly, because I think this is extremely weak with next to no sillage. The staying power is good though. It's a meh from me.

LostSock

Reminds me of Bazooka Joe, that circular, powder covered pink bubblegum that came with a temporary tattoo. I prefer the bottle to the scent if I'm honest. Definitely one more suited to older teens and 20 somethings. Far too young for me, but I can see '90s me loving this over Le Male.

Lucas Liw

At Libertine, a boutique perfumery in Australia, the image of a dragon on the bottle caught by eye, and without thinking, I excitedly took one spray on my wrist, and regretted it.

The perfume opens with a blast of citrus and tea, and boredom ensued because of the generic association between tea and China, prompting me to move on to try other scents. It wasn't until the dry down when real disappointment and distaste set in because of one word, Orientalism - the (often unsophisticated) imitation or depiction of aspects of the Eastern world by 19th century Western artists.

For sure, this scent is reminiscent of the Orient, but not of Imperial China. The scent evokes hippie and Nag Champa vibes. After all, the Orient used to encompass anything and everything east of Europe, India included. One wonders whether Alienor Massenet actually set foot in China, let alone the Winter Palace in Beijing. This itself is not a problem, but the Imperial Chinoiserie branding of the perfume is off-putting because as an ethnic Chinese, I resent that the perfumer seems to be bottling a white person's unimaginative fantasy of the East and selling it as something luxurious and exotic, thus stereotyping Asians as wanting to smell like tea-houses. An opposite example would be if a Chinese perfumer bottles up the scent of cafes and selling it as "Duomo di Milano - Immerse yourself in the opulent blend of top notes of Italian coffee, reminiscent of the morning sun dancing on the cathedral's intricate marble facade..." you get the point.

Adding insult to injury, the Winter Palace, AKA Yuanmingyuan, was once "arguably the greatest concentration of historic treasures in the world, dating and representing a full 5,000 years of an ancient civilization", according to Robert McGee, chaplain to the British forces, until it was completely destroyed by British forces in the second Opium War. According to Oxford Today, the palace was so large – covering more than 3.5 square kilometres (860 acres) – that it took 4,000 men three days to destroy it. Many exquisite artworks – sculptures, porcelain, jade, silk robes, elaborate textiles, gold objects and more – were looted and are now located in 47 museums around the world, according to UNESCO.

To be historically accurate, the scent profile of Winter Palace should consist of opium, ash, and rubble.

All that is to say, me no likey. 🙃

MarkoK87

Such a nice frag, ideal for summer and spring nights, I don t see this as a winter fragrance at all...

akronik96

Kids bubble gum. That‘s what this smells like. Those pink bubble gums. A big NO for me.

LLdeduction

Smells like an oriental orange candy and orange vanilla boba tea. Its really pleasant and sweeter than I thought it was going to be, which I love! There's also a slight fizzy uplifting quality to it which is a nice little addition to the unique mix. The tea and amber is the core but is well supported with the citrus opening that fades to the back and the vanilla that underpins the whole things.

Timi.ferencak1

Amazing blend and quality. My idea of a perfect cosy rainy day perfume. Still don’t blind buy it…

cyclone1391

Opens with a blast of orange that is fleeting and then fades to black tea and amber for a while. Finally it develops on to straight vanilla extract. Quite a strange series of distinctly different smelling scents on my skin, but the end product is very pure vanilla extract.

LizzyBeth22

Thought I would love this based on the notes, but it just doesn't groove with me. The tea and citrus combination is nice, but like a few other reviewers have mentioned, there's a bubblegum note looming in the background. Except on my skin, it seems to push to the very front. Definitely try before you buy.

iszzieanna

Couldn’t believe my nose when I smelt this. It’s a wonderful scent, huge like. But this is so similar to Imagination by LV. It’s the same musky, tea dry down. The citrus in the opening was also super reminiscent of Imagination. This price point is better, however less long lasting. Packaging is also much more beautiful. However this is redundant to own

PolarBear2

This is so classy ! Very niche. The sales attendant in London watched me tell her what kind of perfumes I like from different houses, and then she grabbed Winter Palace and said- you'll like this. I intended to buy a different one, Tamarindo, but instead bought the two, including this. oohhhhhhh a cold scent I love that is not loud but grows... and it reminds me very much of Parisienne chic - when you want to look effortless but exude refined taste and sensuality... LOVE !!!

IvanZg

Personally, this is the best fragrance I've ever smelled. Every time I spray that scent, I am immediately overcome with happiness and put a smile on my face. Whenever I wear it I just smile, the happiness it evokes is incredible. If your day is not to your liking, I advise you to have this perfume in reserve because you will immediately feel better. Warm advice for everyone

VANILLA CLOUDS 77

Winter Palace is 97% identical to Cartier Must de Cartier from (1981), both are green vanilla heavens.
The main difference is Winter Palace has the tea note which Must de Cartier does not have, Must de Cartier is more floral/green/vanilla, whereas Winter Palace is mostly gourmand/ green/vanilla.
When I smell them in the air it’s almost impossible for me to able to detect which one is which? because they smell almost exactly same.
Of course Winter palace is more refined, modern and updated and much more gourmand still than Must de Cartier.
I love Memo Paris, and it’s becoming my favourite respected house.
My favourite nose of this house is Aliénor Massenet. I’m in love with all of her compositions, her creativity is very unique, original and one of a kind.
The performances of Memo Paris Perfumes are absolutely beautiful and 12+ hours with medium to heavy projection.

thewhitecat

Creamy tea with spices and orange peels. And a freshly cut orange on the side. I love it, especially for snowy or rainy days, when you need comforting things around

LSAUG

Oh boy do I hate this. Smells like woody tang orange drink. Can't get past the opening. Woody, green and orange Tang. A huge NO WAY!

stalal

This is a surprisingly strong fragrance. I smell it on my skin even after hitting shower. Probably the strongest tea based fragrance I have come across. This starts very pleasant for first couple of hours, but it’s tenacity is it’s Achilles’ heel. I finally understand why my partner kept complaining about it. It’s very strong and becomes cloying after an hour or so..

It smells like a tea party, with all sweet pastries, lemon cheese cakes, tarts and tea. This could easily be the mad hatter’s perfume (Alice in Wonderland)

specialfairygirl

Hm. Citrus, bergamot, tea, spices, a bit soap like. Pleasant leaning but not much character. Car air freshener?

Jasmine92

Fragrance has become a bit of hobby of mine and I love sniffing new fragrances I come across. I get a ton or citrus with earthy and spicy vibes from this fragrance. My husband, who is not into fragrance like I am, says it smells like seafood with lemon and tapatío hot sauce lmao! I promise he was not hungry when he told me this, and I had him smell it three different times. He kept saying the same thing. I wouldn’t take his interpretation too seriously but it goes to show how subjective fragrance is for everyone!

Ferra_Verto

Resinous cold citrus tea, leans a touch spicy as it dries down. There's a delightfully lingering touch of dried vanilla that permeates the wet tea leaves, but it doesn't overshadow.
This is definitely an interesting take on a tea-scent, definitely ought to be sampled first.
Best suited for warmer weather, but can be worn all year round. Arms' length sillage and my tiny sample lasted around 6.5 hours on my skin.

ScentedPlaza

I loved the old packaging better! Anyways... Winter Palace reminds me of a kids perfume I had when I was a small girl.. To my nose the citruses with peels are paired with resinous balsamic bubble gum accord. I also smell petitgrain & orange blossom here! The tea accord is wonderful & has that watery feel. Slightly similar to Dragee by Reminiscence & Remember Me by Jovoy. Winter Palace to me feels cozy & a bit nostalgic... dreamy even.

Memo describes this scent as "fire and ice" and it is truly fitting! The citrus/tea notes are bright and present throughout the wear of the fragrance but contrasted by a deep, balsamic, ambery sweetness at the base that is reminiscent of a lemon desert. It never becomes heavy/cloying so you could wear this year round; other than maybe the hottest days of summer. Unisex, great longevity, moderate sillage. Over time, this has grown on me and become one of my favorites from Memo (I have 7 full bottles and dozens of samples from the house).

Side note: Although not actually important, Memo changing this bottle from black/gold plated with the black/blue dragon to a plain white and gold bottle was a terrible choice! I've LOVED all their bottle redesigns but this one should not have been changed! Sigh...

MademoiselleMaya

Perfect, sparkling red tea and citrus essences scent backed up with stylish resins.
A very fine creation that seems fit for all seasons.
I don't know anything similar, and I know many.
Finish is also remarkable - clean, subtle, resinous, with flowery aspects and a hint of incense.
Close to luxe leather.
And it lasts over 12 hours.
True unisex - never male or female only during the entire experience - just aromatic.

lmnsvgz

It smells like cold tea with lemon. The initial spray is bitter citrus. There isn't much sweetness - if any. I don't get the vanilla and it smells a bit masculine

SailorV

A beautiful vanilla/citrus blend with a dash of tea. I actually don't find Winter Palace similar to any other tea scent, not Tea for Two and certainly not Ananda Tchai. I don't even perceive tea as the most dominant note here.
Instead I get Xerjoff Lira vibes from the orange and vanilla combination, just without the cinnamon and caramel, but with a transparent, warm read tea instead. In the opening it also smells quite fizzy, a bit like a carbonated soda, but in a sophisticated way. The drydown is warmer and sweeter. Vanilla becomes the strongest note on my skin and the ambery, balsamic notes support its warmth. I still get tea, lemon and orange notes, too, so the overall impression is not too heavy, there is a certain transparency about the blend that I really appreciate.

Despite the name I find this not that wintery. Sure, it's more of a winter than a summer perfume, but the combination of warm and fresh note makes it versatile.
I love this scent, it's really cozy without being smothering. Just very balanced and beautiful, a true feel-good scent.

Disa_17

Upon initial spray I get soft tea and citrus. These two notes remain throughout with the spices and Amber finishing off the ending. It’s very nice. I recommend, however, sampling before buying a full bottle.

ularewolf

The fragrance starts off with an amazing orange note opening, where it is sparkling but sweet. The opening blew me away to be honest. Afterwards you get a scent very similar to Cuir Beluga by Guerlain, honestly can’t tell a difference if there is one. Not sure what to think, as it started promising and dried down to something I’ve smelled before.

Jkr111

I bought a sample of this as in theory it’s everything I love. Sadly I’m getting mostly strong citrus, vanilla and a lot of synthetic musk, with a less dominant red tea note. Very sweet and very scratchy on the nose, like a cheap room freshener. Then it fades very fast.
I’ve got Creed Sublime Vanille and Jovoy Remember Me and would recommend these for a similar vibe but smoother (in the case of SV) and more complex (RM)

Jeff Shin

This smells like a delicious, luxurious tea service in Tibet (not that I've ever been there, but I was thinking of a wintery and mountainous location). It was windy and snowing here today, and this was the perfect scent to accompany me through the cold. From the beginning, I didn't get many citruses like everyone else, so I immediately was able to experience the dense and creamy red tea scent which was heavenly. The tea is super luxurious and rich here. As this developed on my skin and clothes, I got toasted ambery vanillic whiffs through my mask and was instantly warmed from head to toe.

I have an old decant of the original Tea for Two from L'artisan and compared the two side by side, and I think that this is a little smoother in the tea, amber, and spices, and more likable. The usage of tea, and how it was interpreted is very similar to my nose, but Tea for Two is more transparent and scratchy, whereas Winter Palace is more creamy and vanillic. Between the two, I'd opt for Winter Palace for sure.

Farrque

A soft, lightly powdery lemon peel, white musk and vanilla combination. Some ambery & balsamic undertones like benzoin, peach, redcurrant concentrate and labdanum punch through the opening and makes this perfume very pleasant to wear while still being interesting enough to study.
Quite weak in performance though, can barely feel two sprays except for when I bury my nose into my hand.

ryoshiho97

Right off the bat, this smells so delicious. It’s so addictive. Tea, spices, citrus and vanilla beautifully combined. Smells identical to Killian’s Angel’s Share on my skin. The only problem I have with this is it doesn’t perform well under humidity. It smells like bubblegum when exposed to high heat. Very nauseating. This is the first time the positive and negative reviews I read were both true. It’s definitely a cold weather perfume. Since I live in a country where it’s summer all year round, I’m on the edge of selling it. On one hand, I don’t get to use it as often as I want to. It will end up expiring and wasted before I finish the full bottle. On the other hand, I can’t seem to let it go because it’s such a beautiful gourmand scent.

Miracle.Fragrance

One of the best tea fragrances, quality juices smell very soft and beautiful. I often use this in the morning accompanied by a cup of warm tea 🍵

dear,prudence

Delicious zingy citrus in the opening. In the drydown, the addition of vanilla, amber and spices together with the tea notes create a syrupy and almost medicinal feeling - like you're drinking lemon-honey tea for your throat ache.
Projection is poorer than I expected from such an expensive brand.

likesleet

my favorite MEMO. Realistic tea reinforced with vanilla and some spices

FruitpunchsamuraiG

smells like the Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi with allot more vanilla. Citrusy (Orange), vanilla fragrance. Both pretty much go for the same price sooooo not bad. I'd rate Mandarino Di Amalfi better though because it has stronger sillage.

perfumologist83

an awesome redolence with tonka and lemon introduction, escorted by palatial vannilla ,the mate and amber smell so delicate here, the mystic benzoin and labdanum are used in a very contrastive , but also consoling form through the DNA of the scent, it consociates so properly with musk and styrax in the stem ingredients that it feels like that it isn’t a regular fragrance that you would put on while, going to shopping, to gym or to work etc. To the contrary, you have to wait for the right occasion to wear it, and I have a feeling that this special event, whatever that might be, would have this special calling upon the spirit of that fragrance, and the fragrance in return would have the sufficient 6th sense to receive that recall, and I believe they both would be communicating beyond our 5 known senses and hence will decide by themselves, in which particular opportunity the scent would whish to be worn, and you, in case you’d be lucky enough, you could only get to sense it, and then find yourself spraying it on accordingly.

Cherry_Darling

Very much getting Xerjoff Lira and L Lempicka vibes, a citrussy gourmand vanilla, with a bit of added tea and greenness. Really enjoyable, definitely a scent that has been done many times but very wearable.

helenearne

Tried this today, and it smells JUST like a brand of Rooibos tea used in the norwegian coffee shop Kaffebrenneriet. Delicious!

Elle's Bells

It pains me to write this review. I had WP on last night, and I was immediately delighted with the opening. HOWEVER, within 30 minutes, I found this perfume to be quite nauseating. I wanted to wash it off, but being that I had just gotten out of the shower to put it on, I decided to ride it out. Yes, it does smell tea-like, just not the kind of tea that I would want on my skin. I'm going to take a hard pass on this one. OAN, if you are contemplating a FB of Winter Palace, then you will be pleased to know that it has outstanding longevity. I could still smell it on me 12 hours later.

ValleyGirl86

Winter Palace is nice at first. I like the citrus burst, and the Vanilla is nice when it first starts coming in, but after a few minutes this just smells like old chewing gum on me. It could be biased, as I do not enjoy iced Tea beverages, but it just smells so funky on me. I can imagine it smelling fantastic on someone else, and I can see people who like Tea based scents really enjoying this one, but it is not for me.

spiceysauce5

Finally someone does a vanilla citrus scent properly!

I couldn’t get behind allure homme Blanche or Uden, but this one is so soothing and uplifting and comforting all at the same time!

Zingy lemon and grapefruit whipped together with sweet sweet orange, and doused in tea. Then spiced up a bit (like a “diet” chai without milk) and a touch of fluffy meringue-like vanilla that never goes full gourmand.

7.5/10

Verrucosa

I don't get a lot of tea out of this, but it's a beautiful light citrus and vanilla. There's something nostalgic for me too; it reminds of a candy from my childhood that I can't quite pinpoint. It's sweet but in a light, airy way that doesn't come off as too cloying or juvenile. I was almost hoping I wouldn't love this because Memo is so expensive, but I do love it!

It does seem to sit very close to my skin but I don't want to judge too much from a dabber sample. I think I'll get a spray sample to test it more.

stormandgrace

I'm a florist and work on brand launches which is how I came across this fragrance although it was another set the 'Flying' ones we were working on styling for Memo. I'll be straight - I have a simple nose. I like perfumes that smell of THINGS, not 'perfume' and my daily is the very bog standard Chloe eau de parfum because it literally smells of actual garden roses. I own and adore Winter Palace and always get many compliments when I wear it. On me there is no orange or citrus, only intense incense, vanilla and slightly smoky lapsang tea. It is my favourite winter scent. I love Hermès Iris Ukoyie for summer as that smells of actual fresh cut flowers but it doesn't have staying power so Winter Palace remains my go to bottle when I want to smell wonderful (and expensive, but I consider it worth it).

stalal

This smells like having a tea party. There is Tea, biscuits, muffins, macarons and that distinct Memo Paris note (which smells like sand in the air)
My partner said when he smelt it for the first time on me, “just because something is different doesn’t mean it’s nice” hahaha

mimm

I really only get lemon from this. Not a medicinal or windex-type lemon (as is with light blue), but quite a Meyer-lemon sweet scent. I will try more, but the top notes are very prominent and I just don't get a ton of complexity on my skin.

gmoney9438

Tons of citruses, tons of tea, tons of spicy ambery vanilla. Tons of sugar, tons of spice, tons of everything nice. Sweet but not cloying, not by a ton. A tea fragrance with tons of character. Love it a ton. Ton out of ton.

Filomena1941

I love lots of fragrances from MEMO Paris, however, the price of their perfumes is quite high. Although I have some travel sizes of some of the leather perfumes, I do own two full bottles from the line. One is Sintra and the other is Winter Palace. As much as I love Sintra (and believe me it took months before I received it after ordering it months before). However, once I smelled Winter Palace, it was love at first sniff. I adore this scent. It is breathtakingly beautiful and lasts longer on me than some of the other MEMO perfumes. I hope to always have this gorgeous perfume in my collection.

Perfume Beginners

It smells like Pu Er, a kind of Chinese black tea. It is like a pot of hot brewed black tea that I used to drink in restaurants in Hong Kong in front of you. I didn't smell any orange though. It became fresher after a few hours on test paper. I love different types of tea scent and this is definitely in my wish list.

Stampinator

I don't mind this... It does remind. me of a soap and honey shop my mum use to go to all the time when I was a kid. Very nostalgic smell. Bit soapy. It's probably a no for me.

rosehips

I imagine this is what Zhongli from Genshin Impact would smell like! A classy, elegant, warm-spicy aromatic for a dragon with golden scales.

alwaysalready

A spray of citrus that fades into a mellow bitter tea or incense scent with a woody undertone that I associate with a chest of drawers at my grandmother's house or a temple. I think the slightly bitter woody incense scent I'm getting must be from the mate.
After a while I get more of the nutty vanilla tonka but it retains a sort of dry feeling

Marina S

This smells exactly like a hot cup of rooibos with a slice of lemon! Not my cup of tea.

sakrosankt

What a gorgeous bottle!

This fragrance starts a little citrusy, slightly tart. I bought it because it smelled like (very) sweet rooibos tea in the drydown. Or so I thought. Would have classified it as completely feminine.

But now that I have been able to wear it longer, I find that the sweetness of the rooibos tea gives way after a while, leaving a unisex scent. A bit too unisex for my liking.

With properly moisturized skin this scent stayed for 12 hours. The sillage is not the best, after 2 hours it becomes more of a skin scent. This can be useful for people who work in sensitive environments.

Edit: Sold this gorgeous bottle, because the dry down was to masculine on my skin. But the beginning is so stunning. Hot steaming rooibos tea.

nikath

Why have I not smelled this before, I am obsessed with this scent! Winter Palace is such a beautiful sweet, balsamic blend of tea and citruses with spices sprinkled on top - I probably expected something different, more dark and heavy because of the bottle artwork. I do recognize the somewhat ‘bubblegummy’ facet others have mentioned so this is definitely more on the sweet side, but not overly so. Winter Palace is rich, warm and interesting and one of the best fragrances I have smelled in a while. This fragrance opens with strong citrus notes before the tea comes through with sweetness from the vanilla & tonka. Dries down to a beautiful and unique scent on my skin, the only downside of this fragrance for me is the performance which is subpar for Memo. This fragrance comes in a white bottle now along with the other lighter Memo scents, while the heavier scents are presented in a black bottle.

jassca99

I reallyyyy wanted this but all I get is this orange zest that overpowers everything from the opening to the dry down. I barely get any tea or vanilla. Not a bad scent but too much citrus for me. Like aerosol citrus to my nose.

karinatfragrantica

The name is very fitting. Warm comforting scent but poor sillage and longevity.

ckorp8

Beautiful orange tea combination. Even more beautiful bottle. What’s not to love about this? Longevity and silage… leaves quite a bit to be desired.

stelladoro

Absolutely love the complexity of this fragrance. A bright and bracing opening melts into luscious balsamic warmth with labdanum softening any red tea, at least for me. I don't get tea at all. It lasts forever on my skin. Well balanced and blended, bottle worthy, but at a price I can't condone , but I will use the remainder of my generous sample in the coming months. Memo has a magic touch with woody, resinous and leather fragrances. These in no way resembles AT's Orange Star. I get no orange at all. I do have a fb of Memo Granada, lovely scent but doesn't last on me, which may be the reason I don't get any orange/citrus from Winter Palace.

nguyenkhuusg

I was excited to try this fragrance, but when I got a sample I was disappointed. The main problem is that the citrus notes are SO strong they dominate tea notes.
Just imagine you pour a bunch of orange oil in your tea, not great at all!

yearofrest

this one was a huge let down. very unremarkable with terrible longevity. from the name and reviews id expect something deep and complex but on both my skin and clothes it’s a fleeting sweet citrusy scent reminiscent of room sprays

drtwinkletoesdo

10/10. Smells like a warm, spicy, sexy Orange Julius (if you know, you know 😉).

Atomikbomb_

This is such a mellow and calming fragrance, the notes compliment each other beautifully.

Something about orange has always been oddly comforting to me. Lemon, bergamot, grapefruit and the rest are all more invigorating, but orange remains a soothing outlier in the world of citruses. It's paring with the red tea (which does legitimately smell like brewed rooibos) is a soothing and interesting melding. This is very sweet, and the vanilla with tonka is delicious! I think this is quite safe too, I don't see how many folks would object to whiffs of this, and it has modest sillage at any rate.

I do wish that this contained just a bit less orange, and a bit more labdanum. Labdanum can easily overtake things, so I do not mean to say that I would sacrifice the presence of sweet notes much, but if it was a touch more balanced I believe I'd be completely obsessed with this.

Overall though, it's comforting and unique, and I see why it's so highly regarded! I wish I had some rooibos to sip, and I'll save the rest of this sample for a gloomy day when I do. Maybe I'll even add some orange peel to the pot! 😊🫖🍊

Fragaddict4u

I love this scent. It’s so invigorating yet relaxing at the same time. I sense a strong lemongrass citrus & ginger note on top which mellows out to a ethereal bubblegumy red tea amber vanilla scent. It would be perfect it it projected more and had a stronger presence. Whole Foods has a natural gum called; Simply Gum in the flavor Boost.. lemongrass, turmeric, cayenne. The way this gum tastes is how winter palace smells!! So if you want to smell like that gum tastes you’d love winter palace. Winter palace does have that beautiful bubblegum red tea amber vanilla dry down that the gum lacks.

Caldrumr

This opens up absolutely beautifully. If it stayed anything close to that, I would have no problem dropping my money on this.
Unfortunately, after a very short period of time, this settles down to just being vanilla and overwhelming red tea.
If you want to smell like you spilled a rooibos latte on yourself, this is the way to go.
Very disappointing.

AMajeedQT

Sweet Orange.

A zest of orange & lemon, sweetened with ambery tolu & vanilla, and aromatized with tea.

Zesty, citrusy, fresh, ambery, lightly-sweet, mildly-powdery.

The name "Winter Palace" & the dark bottle with the dragon do not reflect the kind of fresh fragrance this is. This is actually an uplifting fresh scent.

A warm weather, unisex mature wear.

Big "Like"

aczwy

suuuchhhh a gorgeous red tea scent; can't quite afford the price point yet but maybe one day...

thescented1

I like this one a lot, but too expensive since I don't love it. Beautiful composition, long lasting, at half the price I would buy a bottle.

zind

This is gorgeous. I like it a lot on my first wearing, but I loved it on my second wearing. I would not buy it because of the price tag as I can certainly live without it, but I think it is a very versatile and lovely scent. I agree that the tea note is less prominent than expected, it is mostly there in the early stages. This is a super balmy, warm, ambery and exotic sitrus scent that worked great in the summer heat, but might work just as well or better in cooler weather. Projection wasn't very impressive with this one, but I could easily enjoy and smell my own perfume, and longevity is very good.

It reminded me a lot of Ambar by Jesus Del Pozo. Winter Palas is A LOT better imo, but for a very tight budget option Ambar is certainly worth a shot and there must be other good options out there as well (and I will be trailing this thread for suggestions!)

PPAN

This is not bad. Very realistic warm sweet tea with a basket of orange. I almost loved it, but then as I thought of the price, I found it so outrageously unjustified that it became much less lovable. It's way too overpriced.

panda-inc

I am halfway down my 10ml travel spray and after trying it out for 2 months, my impression is that the opening resembles a refined version of Lancome Oranges Bigarades. Lancome OB dries down to predominantly jasmine while Memo Winter Paris dries down to sweet amber with a slight bubblegummy scent. It is nice but the pricing of aud$399 for a 75ml on this is ridiculous and way above my budget for a citrus tea perfume. I prefer Jovoy Remember Me for the citrus tea fix because it is way more nuanced with a price tag of aud$220 for 100ml.

Kots_Tanya

Starts out with fresh citrus slightly spiced tea, and tried down to the scent that is very similar to Rouge Smoking by BDK which I do enjoy. I would say it is definitely unisex. One of those fragrances that men might find it feminine leaning and women masculine. I think it would work for both. Cozy comforting scent best for colder weather.

Jasmina Stankovic

Bought it recently. A perfect zen scent. A no-brainer year round reach. Love the amazing fresh opening, as well as the calming ambery tea drydown. Could be a bit more potent imo. The projection is quite mild. I guess this is what you get with this many different natural oils. It sits close to the skin. Superb quality either way.

Vitodito

One of the bests from Memo.

The opening is like a comf cup of roiboos red tea with red fruits, and then fades into a sweet mega conf scent.

Love it

L.bss

I am very puzzled. Where do people get a strong tea note? to me this smells of orange propolis(given by tolu balsam which is the most prominent note), kind of ambery, dusty, vapourous beeswax foam. There is some hints at tea in the opening but it falls quickly away. I dont think it smells of bubblegum but I see some resemblance you could go to. Cozy and calming fragrance on the sweet side but not sugary. I like it very much! Didnt expect this at all from the notes

SmellMyCheese

I get lemon-orange cookies from this, with warm slightly spiced tea brewing at the side. Very pleasant, although less tea focused than I was hoping.

Tempted to get a full bottle even though the longevity isn’t the most stellar in the world. Not a bad one.

scotchegg

This is okay. The people who think this smells like Floraiku I am Coming Home are just straight wrong. I don't mean "perfume is subjective" wrong, I mean they're embarrassingly wrong. You could not get two scents any more different. I am Coming Home is a minimalistic tea scent, with a zesty, zippy fresh ginger in the top. This is far more complicated, far sweeter, the tea note is not a minimal, photorealistic approach, but rather an abstract concept wrapped up in a ball of sweet resins and amber, of which there is none in the Floraiku scent. Do not buy this based off of that similarity, you will be disappointed. Anyway, now that point is made, Winter Palace. Yeah, it's okay. Overpriced in my opinion. It opens well and is actually very unique for a while. You get a bitter orange and tea note along with some cloudy resins and that is all quite nice, a smart mix of sweet and savoury. After about an hour it falls back to skin level with very poor projection, though on the flip-side, it does feel quite classy. At this point it's basically a mix of a nice, dusty, slightly powdery musk, somewhat irritating bubblegum and soft amber. Like I said, it's alright. That sounds dismissive, but it's not that, it's just that it's not a bad scent by any stretch of the imagination, it's just nothing special either. It does not live up to the hype for me, but is perfectly serviceable and would make a very classy scent for some middle of the road wear, like a dull day at work or maybe a first date where you don't want to be risky, but ultimately it's just a bit boring and uninspiring. I'm also not really sure what this wants to be, honestly. It's far too shallow for a true niche scent, but probably a bit too "weird" for someone who only buys designer perfume. Instead it just flounders somewhere in the middle, waltzing into the realm of obscurity.

Unisex, leaning feminine. Poor sillage but 6+ hours of longevity when you get close in. Nice bottle, which is probably the best part of the whole thing.

Daisy_D

Absolutely beautiful opening. Captivating! Orange, creamy, tea and slightly floral. Then, it came the sharper gingery, amber, light vanilla, lemon and musk breath.
With the image on the perfume bottle and all the promotion content, it seemed like this 'winter palace' should be a Chinese one. However, I caught a smell that was so familiar to me which was not from China but a kind of red shampoo bar from the British cosmetics brand, Lush, or more like the Winter Wonderland during Christmas in Hyde Park. Not so authentic oriental, but of adaptive Asian impression.
As for the tea part, I would rate it more of Ceylon black tea as it is pungent, malty, fruity, but less of astringent and smoky.

Overall, great fragrance. Inviting in colder seasons!

gmaster

Very interesting fragrance as I am an avid tea lover and drinker. I am writing this review after spraying both of my wrists. I will write an update later on to discuss longevity and the evolution of the notes.

The top notes are definitely tea. I smell green tea and black tea. However, after a few minutes, the tea disappears and I smell candy notes as well as something like bubble gum. Does anyone else smell this? I also smell spices and multiple resins working together. I am reminded of nutmeg. I know neroli/orange blossom is not listed in the notes but I swear I can smell it (and strong too), it's not orange, it's really neroli.

This fragrance is quite powerful and I realize I should have applied less. It's not what I thought it would be - I hoped for a focus on tea. I can however appreciate the complexity.

I noticed people are reminded of I Am Coming Home by Floraïku when they smell Winter Palace. To me, they are nothing alike. Respectfully, I don't understand how that could be. IACH is a lot simpler and more tea oriented to my nose. It has a pure green tea note and a stellar, sparkly ginger note. It has no resins like Winter Palace.

Edit: Winter Palace lasted quite a while on my wrists. I could smell it 8 hours later. The bubble gum/candy notes disappeared. I found what bothered me in this fragrance: it's the neroli. I can appreciate this fragrance but neroli notes just turn me off so I could not wear this. Lastly, I find that the tea is hiding behind many notes. I would get whiffs of it but not enough for me to really enjoy this fragrance.

ginandrice

Zesty-sweet orange, creamy spiced vanilla, and warm balsamic notes are all prominent off the top, and for quite a while as Winter Palace wears.

It’s warm, sweet, and strong, but only moderately heavy. Dense but soft, like a strong, luxurious, richly-sweetened, spiced tea. Perhaps with some delicious spiced vanilla and lemon cake as an accompaniment.

The only thing wintery about Winter Palace is that the exquisite, enveloping warmth of the notes practically commands you to think of them in contrast to some forbidding cold: The lake frozen over and snow whiting out the windows, but it’s okay, because you are inside, warm and safe, and the library is full of books to read, and the tea steams with perfect heat on the table beside you, awaiting your first sip.

Unisex but leans a bit feminine.

CS9

Opens with a lovely sweet citrus & red tea, the dry down kinda smells like Flintstone vitamins.

mhobol

To me this is drop dead gorgeous. The beginning hits with a spicy orange and in the dry down I smell like the greatest and roundest cup of tea in the world - it is christmas tea. Great balance and a nice and warm winter scent. For me, I get tired of smelling like tea (even the greatest one) after some days, so for this price (high as hell), I am sorry to say I cannot justify buying this.

ingeneuxo

-Opens with powdery, musky, spicy notes.
-Nothing too unique about this one.

-More suitable for fall/winter than tropical climates.
-Not fbw. (-)

fbls_llmas

This is such a warming and extremely relaxing scent. I can't imagine wearing this in high heat. Definitely not a summer scent.

Cherihanei

Winter Palace truly stands in all the Memo fragrances. In the first hour, we have a bold orange, red tea dominance. They’re not aggressive though, not too straightforward, or too acid. I will say, the first sprits really do smell like a freshly opened bag of high quality tea. Now, i’m personally not a fan of tea fragrances, so I didn’t think much of it at first. But this hidden gem here unfolds into a magical palace of rich creamy notes AROUND, I say around my friends, not behind nor in front of, AROUND the red tea. That cup of tea you served yourself a few minutes ago ? Think of it now with an addition of creamy vanilla... goodness grace. The mate takes over the red tea in the dry down, tonka beans are VERY noticeable as well. My sister smelled it after 3 hours of wear on me and she said I smelt like bubble gum, which i do understand. She mostly meant its bitterness, in the blend of orange/vanilla/bergamot that could indeed remind synthetic smells like chewing gum.

Imo, WP is wonderful for tea-scents lovers, but for this price, buy a sample before (obviously) ! The performance is quite shy, doesn’t really project and has a mild sillage. Does linger on the skin for a good 5 hours, that is, without the constant alcohol application of our new COVID era.

Overall, it is a very pleasant, warm and inviting scent. 100% Unisex and definitely more of a cold weather perfume (unless the title and the bottle are playing mind games on my naive self).

yaayyya

Very thick and rich. This is how pure gold could smell like, although I'm obviously impacted by the packaging and name. Bitter-sweet citrusy cologne for the powers that be, hidden under heavy layers of brocade and velvet and mixed with ointments and chrism. Tolu, labdanum and tonka beans is what makes it so rich and expensive-smelling, but I must say it's not the same in different batches. I tried it last year when it was just launched in London duty free, and then again six months later from a luckyscent sample. I trust both sources, but the smell was noticeably different. The one from duty free had a much stronger tolu-labdanum undertone, which is what made me fall in love with it, but I also wished there was a lighter version of it at that time. Then the luckyscent sample was exactly what I wanted - more pronounced top notes, more sour/citrusy and less rooibos, but with that it lost that magical appeal that made it so intoxicating.

yourblar

This is almost identical to Laurence Dumont Vanille Pamplemousse, except it's more woody / unisex, I love it!!

angelica1931

Really nice. Its the smell and feeling of eating Lemonheads while drinking a rooibos tea. An elevated version of that anyhow. I've only worn a decant I have of it once, not sure if its worth the price tag. It lasted decently on my clothes, but I think I was the only one who could smell the fragrance on me. It is quite unique, a sentimental "memory smell" to be enjoyed by the wearer for sure.

groover

Very artistic scent, or niche
quality for that matter, starts
off with a beautiful citrus that
reminds me of a cold place somwhere
in the mountains, it then becomes
very powdry and leans more feminine
than masculine, not something i would
wear but a very nice crafted fragrance
for sure.

Vickalicious

This is a big miss for me. This is not bad, but is not at all what I was expecting, and is rather unremarkable. On my skin this opens up as a sweet pink bubble gum (the rock hard bubble gums from the late 80’s early 90’s). It stays that way for the first 30 minutes and then I get a very slight incense/powder for the next 30 minutes, and then after an hour it is completely gone. A lot of reviewers raved about this one. On my skin this was very unimpressive, and is one that I will not be adding to my collection.

siomes

My favourite out of the Memo line. The tea note is very cosy and comforting and the light citrus and cardamom compliment easy other beautifuly. Lasts a very long time and can be worn in all seasons.

trabuquera

Intoxicating scent - intimidating price. But oh, goodness, it makes me weak at the knees. A tea unlike anything I've smelt before in perfume - rich, malty, herbal all at once - mellow but tannic, golden-brown, fragrant enough to restore you after a winter walk along the Great Wall of China. Garlanded with all the aromatics I love most, with the opulent, mellow resins and balsams hinting at some more that probably aren't even there (? star anise? cinnamon? fennel?), and the styrax and musk perfectly discreet and not distracting from any of the more individual notes.

For some reason (OK OK it's probably the dragon on the bottle) this makes me think of Gong Li looking lovely in 1920s luxe Chinese winter fashion in the film 'Raise the Red Lantern' - fur, silk, spice and steel all at once. Beautiful fresh-then-warm citrus notes up top give it echoes of Fendi Theorema, never ever a bad thing, while the benzoin's kept in impeccable balance. Good survival on my skin, too- 6h+, which is better than average if not amazing - a stunning trail of sillage, and still giving out wafts of supreme gorgeousness from a scarf 48h after application.

I'm a commoner and I'm in love. Must work harder, sell assets or commit crimes to break into this Palace. I want it badly. So very very badly. I had thought that after finding Mona di Orio's regal Bohea Boheme I'd never really fall so in love with another tea fragrance, or feel the need for one. Wrong again. This is SPECTACULAR. Sigh....

kentabatinga

This is a very well behaved (or tamed) Amouage Sunshine Man. Creamy and delicious citrus, supported by vanilla without being cloying. Very pleasant and totally unisex. On my to buy list, but gotta wait till the hype calms down.

dcjimr

I was so excited to try this scent. I opened the sample from Luckyscent and the first thing that hit my nose was this lovely smoky note. After applying to my skin, the top notes that hit me were the benzoin and vanilla, which sort of hid the tea note at first. The dry down became a little generic to me, primarily tonka bean, balsam and bergamot and maybe a little incense. I can't quite decide whether I like it, but it is very interesting.

xmelldefrag

Hmmm... I've ever smelled this before, i just can't pinpoint the details... Maybe a car or bathroom freshener...

The scent itself feels warm to me, like a hot lemon tea with a hint of mint, even though the name is winter palace. I agree with Moncheri that even though it is made out of orange and tea, it feels like neroli, and for me it's quite common, of course in Winter Palace it is more luxurious and refined, having a perfect balance with the spices.

This is a chinese oriental scent, wonderful indeed, but quite common for chinese community.... that being said, it's still not a fb worthy for me considering the high price for a 75ml bottle.

MacGuffin

Sampled this scent in their booth in Dubai Mall today and I was mesmerized by its niche level of accords from top notes to base. Citrus yet smoky, partially sweet tea in the first seconds then becomes ambery balsamic then leaves a trail of incense. I suppose its perfect for winter. Market price is also niche level (900+Dirhams).

Arabian Knight

This is an unusual perfume. It opens with the light airy freshness of bergamot and tart grapefruit with a dry, tannic note of tea. As it wears on the balsamic notes of the base spread out and cushion the sharpness of the citrus and tea in a soft caress of powdery sweetness. Tolu and styrax are the most prominant, giving a slight touch of charcoal and vanilla.

It's less heavy on the amber than Tiger's Nest. Quite delicate, I would say feminine leaning. Good performance.

moskie

Was intrigued enough to get a sample from Luckyscent. This is such an incredible, unusual scent I couldnt get enough of my sample. I was heading to Paris and knew I wanted to bring back something unique but decided to head over over to Memo instead of the Palais Royale and Serge Lutens and I'm so glad I did.

Winter Palace may just be my new signature scent for summer, it is so unlike any other niche perfume I own. To me on 1st spray it opens very dry and minty, although mint is not listed as a note, it may be the grapefruit and bergamot that gives it a citrusy dryness that is not sweet at all, no fruity, citrusy sweetness/cloyness here yet thank goodness. I tend not to like any scent with neroli, it just gets sickeningly sweet and cloying on me. After the burst of dry citrus, within 2-3 minutes, here comes the dry red tea and its a big dry tea with a hint of orange that again is not too sweet, must be more orange rind then orange flowers. Amber and maybe a bit of vanilla comes in at this point giving the dry tea and orange a bit of depth, sweetness and warmth that again is not cloying. Dry woods opens here as well, with the balsams and maybe a hint of styrax. It is a powerhouse of mid-notes but does not project so you can enjoy this unfolding without disturbing anyone within 5 feet, yet anyone close will detect a sexy dryness with a hint of sweetness and warmth that to me seems irresistable. I can't stop smelling my wrist at this point. This gloriousness lasts at least 4-6 hours and then morphs again into the final notes at 7-8 hours and more where you really get the tonka and vanilla. Hard to believe the drydown becomes a warm gourmand without the cloying sweetness. I can still faintly smell a vanilla sweetness on my wrist after 12 hours that is subtle but like a hug.

Truly a masterpiece in my book and FBW for me. I picked up the full bottle for 205 EUR in the Paris store which come to $230 USD, certainly not cheap but neither is the scent and worth it in my opinion

If you're looking for a unique tea fragrance and like fruit, absolutely give this a shot. This isn't quite like any other perfume I've tried.

Winter Palace opens with a very sweet, spicy citrus and it kind of hits you in the face at first. For me, it's lovely, but I'm a big gourmand fan. The citrus note in this does not try to be fresh or beachy like so many others; it is more of a sweetener to the red tea heart. After an hour, the citrus calms down a bit, unfoiling into hot tea. The projection is relatively soft and won't turn heads, but to me this makes it far more versatile, which I will expand on later. After a few hours, this becomes a tea-skin-scent with a dash of spice, and it's very comforting.

I think the usability of this scent cannot be understated. It is soft enough to wear to the office, sensual enough for a date night, light enough for summer, and warm enough for winter. It's unique enough for the niche market, but conservative enough to have mass appeal. It's incredible actually. I do not have a single other scent in my collection that checks all those boxes. This would make an amazing signature scent for somebody who only wants to wear ONE thing, yet also has a distinct style. Not everyone will appreciate this, some will find it too sweet. But for me, it's brilliant and I encourage all gourmand fans to get a sample.

This is a neroli scent. It is like YSL Le Vestiaire des Parfums Saharienne. It is like Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir. A neroli tea based fragrance.
Although like Neroli Outrenoir, Winter Palace is a bit harsh, not so smooth.
The orange is more prominent.

Memo Winter Palace is the Paris house’s most recent and only 2019 release, to date, of which I’m aware. I’d immediately describe it as a sort of spicy orange cream. Its mix of citruses (grapefruit, bergamot, lemon), vanilla, benzoin, labdanum, balsam, and musk facilitates such a feeling, though I’m guessing it’s the mate and red tea that give the fragrance its certain kick.

I own a couple of fragrances that I’d describe as being orange cream-like (Profumum Roma Mergina and Lili Bermuda SunKiss) but Winter Palace is darker and especially spicier than either. I still think it’s fair to call Winter Palace a gourmand—and a fairly indulgent one, at that—but it’s not as sweet or bright as either of the two aforementioned fragrances, so it’s refreshing that it deviates a bit and goes into different territory. I quite like it, even if I prefer the other two, overall.

It feels versatile, like it’s serious and dark enough for going out and winter, respectively, but still sweet and playful and somewhat fresh enough to be worn casually or in summer.

Winter Palace is priced at $295-300 for the standard 75ml Memo bottle size is available at Luckyscent, Neiman Marcus, and its house site, though I suspect, like most other entries in the house, it’ll be available on the grey market at a discount, which is the case for Tiger’s Nest, only released last year.

I smell minty lemon at first and then sweet orange and amber. I like it very much. Not to mention it is definitely going to be a collector's item. No doubt about that due to its connection with the popular Game of Thrones. I usually don't spend this much on perfumes but made an exception for this. I enjoy fruity sweet scents that do not smell cheap and this fits the bill. It is sweet and fruity but also complex. This may turn off someone reading this but need to say it. My 13 year old boy smelled it upon initial spray and said the top notes smell like fruit loops to him.

I personally think it is delicious. I am newly getting into niche perfumes (in the last year), and have found that most of the loves from niche lovers have deep deep scents and notes that result in a smoke smell or incense. I cannot even tolerate either of those things. So it has been trying to find good niche frags that do not have either of those two facets. This is a winner to my humble nose.

Smells like a bomb pop

The art land has no perfume worth buying, except for the legendary Marfa perfume that brought the art of vanilla innovation to a new and beloved way, but in the case of the winter palace perfume, I could not find the art of niche which I craved for this fragrance. I believe that this kind of perfume gives a religious inspiration and a ritual atmosphere and I am not ready for the adventure of $ 250 for this creativity is not desirable in all cases for me.this type of perfume you can't use it every day easily moreover,
is not mass appealing niche perfume and at the same time is not a complicated niche perfume at all.

5/10.

Got a sample of this from Twisted Lily. This one should be a home run for Memo. It has a nice tea base warmed with orange and vanilla...a bit like a chai tea, mate tea, and orange creamsicle were blended together...a bit like a spiced Orange Julius. It's as if the scent is playing with fire and ice. The resins help it straddle the line of seeming exotic while seeming familiar. It is in gourmand territory.

Sillage and projection are quite good. It isn't overbearing, but isn't a shrinking violet either. Unisex and could be used in all seasons.

I think this will be a big seller and quite popular among fragheads and the general public alike. It's different enough to appeal to those looking for something new, yet familiar enough and pleasant enough to cause interest among the rest of the planet. All that depends if people can swallow the large asking price.

Gorgeous warm balsamic middle with sweet orange, vanilla and mate grounded with a mild ambery base.

What’s amazing is the brightness that’s also offered with a lemon almost minty like airiness.

It conjures up indeed an oriental feel and a dragon woken up in its den given by its slight Animalic feel.

Very unique and like Tigers Nest a powerhouse in silage and longevity. Also indeed I get the marketing hype. Creative as it is it sings to me just like the hype for Tigers Nest.

Male or female for winter - very sultry. I think it is too cloying and warm for the heat.

Again - very unique. I’ve tried many better or many I would prefer this year but I’m guessing this one might just be one of those scents people will talk about this year - try it for something new...
