it is interesting
because each time i smell it i have an impression that it reminds me of smth i don't remember what exactly
but i am really attracted to it, even tho many people find it quite generic and gloss magazine scent like
staying power is great on clothes
To me it's slightly powdery fruity jasmine scent

I purchased this in a travel spray size to try it on. I spritzed all over and went on about my daily routine when my husband noticed the scent. He REALLY likes it! And that means a bunch. I'm going to keep using my travel size bottle before I go in for the big bottle. I want to be sure before I make the commitment to it. Hubby liking it puts it in the "plus" column. :>)

The initial spray of this was sharp and cheap like rubbing alcohol, but it quickly faded into a more subtle, natural fragrance. The white florals seem to completely overpower the citrus notes, but they smell good. I would have sworn there was a caramel note in here, but perhaps it's just the mix of vanilla and coconut giving me that creamy vibe. It's a like, not a love.

Odor Aeternitatis

White floral, citrus with a touch of vanilla, in the most boring way.

Sadly I only get white floral notes when I wear this. I bought 2 sample sets from Montale and so far have liked them all. This one smells like a one trick pony though. I dont get the coconut or vanilla or orange notes sadly. I'll still use it though.

nordhaul

this says uni but it's really just masc.
smells very common nothing uniQue.

This smells like a month-long vacation on a yacht! It is such a luxurious white floral. I expected Soleil Blanc to smell like this. A big win for Montale!

sbmmbs21

A safe blind buy for white floral & citrus lovers, this was another successful gamble for me, based on seeing a cheap 100ml bottle & liking the notes.

I would say this is a typical golden citrus, beachy, white floral summer scent. It’s gorgeously feminine, rather than unisex & I would say it’s a fairly typical, unoriginal fragrance style in that it’s not a unique combination of notes. In this sense it is different to other montales & has less unique qualities. It actually reminds me a bit of Lady Million, (but with a bit more about it), so yes the profile is more generic / designer like, than from a niche house.

For me it’s safe buy for lovers of the notes and I can see how people likened the smell to the insert of a beauty magazine. Reminds me of walking into the fragrance section of a beauty department store.

It’s just a well rounded, lightly tropical floral fragrance.. pleased to have this in my collection

Mariyamokshina

Ambroxan and white florals. if you like jasmine and orange blossom, and octal DNA, you will love it. its not for me as its too floral

vanilka133

Like Unruly Julie below, I also get a huge ISO-E scent with Day Dreams — like rubbing alcohol mixed with flowers; I can still smell it on my skin 16+ hours later. It’s got a real punch when you put it on — I expected it would be much softer than it was. I don’t think I’d hate it on someone else, but it doesn’t check any of the obvious boxes for me (sweet vanilla or creamy white floral) so I will pass the sample along.

JoyousOne

I ordered a sample from Twisted Lily based on the scent profile and description. I knew it was a gamble, buy I rolled the dice and struck out. 1st spray was like a punch in the face. I love citrus, I smelled none. I love sweet, I smelled none. I like vanilla, I smelled none. Coconut? My nose failed there too. I hate woody so the sandalwood projects. Its a soft powdery bug spray. Hard pass, big no, & wouldn't ever recommend!

gxbjw

Day Dreams opens as a delicious and opulent citrus, white floral fragrance.

Sadly, I can't lie, the drydown is horrid.

The scent would be great if it stays linear throughout its life on skin, but unfortunately vanilla and coconut knock on the door. Day Dreams becomes obnoxiously sweet, and disproportionately creamy. I absolutely agree with some of the sentiments shared here; it smells like laundry detergent, and for me, not in a good way.

Coach Dreams would be a great alternative with a better price. It is smoother, cleaner and the green notes balance the sweet and white floral facets. Dare I say better blended.

The performance on Day Dreams is really good, though. 8 hours of longevity and the projection is monstrous.

Hard pass.

BokeeLee

Totally ok parfume but only for girls. Cool scent, perform well, for designer trash price. Ez blind buy.

Mariyamokshina

This is a vibe I didn’t think I would like , but it has that montale dna with sugared lemon wedge jelly candy and ambroxan. It’s like a walk in the woods with a little pine and jasmine . I would wear this !

Unruly Julie

All I can smell is too much ISO-E-Super and oranges. Sorry, I'm not a fan.

clairdelune

Wow, I kind of can't stand this. It smells like some fruity tropical liquid I should be drinking, not wearing. I thought I would like it based on the notes, but I'm actually anxious for it to wear off, and if it doesn't soon I will give it some help with soap and water. For a tropical, summer beachy perfume, I'd choose something like Byblos - wonderful summery scent and so inexpensive.
Note: It's now the day after I left my review, and even post-shower I can STILL smell this stuff -- and I don't like it so it's kind of driving me crazy. I'm a perfume hostage, LOL!

annasarahr121

Montale Day Dreams is pretty, opening up with bright, orangey citrus and creamy tiare. If only this opening would continue -- though I notice that other Fragranticans had the opposite reaction here, and were happy when this opening dissipated. Day Dreams dries down in a pretty but, to my nose, at least, very basic and boring jasmine-neroli scent. Nice but nothing amazing,

CatsMom

Not too bad, a nice rotation for hot weather perfumes. You need to really like white flowers, jasmine and Neroli. Powerful at first spray...I don't find it as gourmand as I do floral. Personally I loved the dry down of coconut and musky sandalwood, hints of vanilla peeping through. One of the Montales I like to layer with another parfum, something a little more vanilla and sweeter.

ATTENTION ALL STAFF:

Failure to hustle, idleness, and personal moments prioritized while shining and polishing will result in a broom spindle dip, exagerrated curtsy, unvocalized heartsong in unison with fluttering creatures, and an inescapable scampering at the heels by a rodent named Gus.

dharastover

i’ll keep this short and sweet, honestly I cannot tell any specific notes from this, probably because it’s a floral and I have a hard time with them but this smells to me like laundry detergent and honestly, I like it!

Canadabear

This is my first time testing Montale perfumes, and this one was a bit of a letdown. Admittedly, this was a bit of a long shot for me anyways, given the scent profile - something a bit different for me to try. I can appreciate the notes, but it didn't wow me. It's sort of meh.. probably lovely for spring/summer, but nothing that leaves me wanting to try it again—looking forward to my other testers, though.

butterbean

Day Dreams is great for summer. It is lightly citrus at the top, slightly tropical, white floral, kinda perfume-y (Someone said below "glossy magazine insert." That is a good way to put it.
Perfume-y doesn't mean gma or dated. It means its noticeably perfume like = perfume-y. IYKYK)

It is nice. very long lasting, but it doesn't WOW me. I can see it as an easy reach for all occasions.

(does not smell like Intense Cafe at all and doesn't resemble Mancera Holidays)

MarnaL

Love this. This has sort of an Intense Cafe vibe without the Cafe, so it's tolerable in hotter weather. Nuclear and lovely. People like it.

Zizi518

Day Dreams is sweet, floral with a bit of the Montale DNA and at the same time refreshing and very likable. Opens with a white floral bomb with a little bit citrus. It's sweet and creamy, slightly dense, synthetic like most if not all Montale fragrances but not in a bad way. I see why people say it's a good summer fragrance, while it's sweet and slightly dense it still has a cool aspect to it. As it dries down, it becomes creamier, more powdery and you start getting more of that Montale DNA. I'm fairly positive that there are some notes that aren't listed. Overall this is a cozy, comforting, casual feeling scent that leans very feminine and can be worn in many different weathers/occasions.

I pretty much like it. But don't know why it's remind me the smell of party balloons

fragrancemazter

Big fan!! Upon spraying this on my skin, I can smell sweet, fresh/citrus, floral, and powdery accords.

As it dries down, the fresh/citrus and floral accords fade, while the sweet and powdery accords develop. This fragrance is a warm and smooth gourmand with a soft sweetness and slight creaminess from the vanilla, coconut, sandlwood and tiare flower. The powdery finish makes this fragrance feel like a comforting, cozy, warm night by the fire sipping on hot coco with mini marshmallows.

I see that others say it's perfect for summer - but because the fresh/citrus notes fade away quite quickly, the vanilla gourmand notes make it feel more like a fall or evening/night time fragrance for me. It's a bit too sweet and warm for the day time personally, but to each their own!

Mayasuren

Summer in a bottle! Such a mood lifter in this cold weather, and the performance is amazing. Nothing special or groundbreaking but most fragrances aren’t groundbreaking or special. This will be my go-to perfume for summer. Leans feminine but a man could certainly pull it off.

Trendkill97

Off the bat, you're met with that recognisable Montale DNA synthetic zesty sharpness, but as this dries down it becomes so pleasant, uplifting, brings a smile. Creamy sweet, gorgeous white florals, may seem a little heady, but the coconuty casual relaxed fun vibe this brings makes me love this. Feminine leaning, and unisex, feels gourmandy edible slightly hints at it, but it's a tropical floral sun tan lotion kind of scent through and through. And does pretty well at what it's purposed to be. 7/10

Dr.Afro

Just picked this up over the weekend after getting one of those samplers of montale vanilla and flowers 💐 . The opening is very flowery and strong 💪🏾 with blossoms and vanilla and fills a room easily. May come off as a little
Too Feminine or flowery intially but that is very short lived..the payoff in this baby is in the dry down ⬇️. To me the vanilla, coconut 🥥, and sandalwood 🪵 come together to form a very nice Combo. Some may not detect those notes 📝 individually because they are blended in a way that comes off as warm mix of baked goods or candied nuts 🌰 . Glad I picked this up. It’s a nice casual scent for the day. I also found it a great layering scent with Ebene Fume ! The other real advantage to this scent is it does last longer and projects better even better n the dry down than some of my Tom Ford private blends..

floszra

This is the most cheap-smelling niche perfume I've ever tried. It smells like something from the cheapest drugstore from the early 2000s. Sorry, but I find it horrible and unwearable.

MarkoPeeko

Given a sample by someone saying this was unisex. Opening was harsh. The first 10 minutes are abrasive on the nostrils. Then the creamy vanilla makes an appearance with a subtle touch of orange in the background. Lots of floral notes intertwining. Plenty of top and middle order happening. Not picking up any coconut or sandalwood during the dry down. And that’s where it stays for me. That and the fact this is definitely a feminine scent. Sweet and florally. Not bad. Not Pierre’s finest moment either. Middle of the road.

2whit2quit

First of all.. my cap broke off upon opening the (tester) bottle. I'm irritated from the start, and maybe my nose knows no notes. This fragrance lacks any depth that I was hoping to smell in the drydown, or at all, based on the notes listed. I definitely don't smell vanilla or sandalwood. I get bright citruses in the top and then it sits on my skin, stays in place and doesn't move at all. I purchased it in the summer, assuming it would be amazing in the heat. It's not a terrible fragrance, but it doesn't smell special either. Nothing memorable. Simply 'ok' isn't going to cut it for me. Also, while it might be unisex, there is definitely nothing feminine about this scent. Just saying. I mean, I would probably love this if I had smelled it on someone else first. Now, I'm stuck with the bottle because will anyone even want it if the cap is broken? I'm going to give Day Dreams another try now that it's fall..just to see what it does, if anything. Note to self: STOP BLIND BUYING :)

somefire

the good news: i finally found a montale that doesn't smell overwhelmingly of rose!
the bad news: it smells instead like the most generic drugstore perfume imaginable. (lasts way longer, though!)

AmoreProfumi

A very safe offering from Montale.. I don’t find a lot of people not liking this one. Has a very pleasant fruity floral opening that you’d find put out by a mainstream designer. That might be the where the problem lies with some who wants mainstream when they’re paying for high quality.. but though Montales done this beautifully enough I think it could be overlooked. It’s a great inoffensive summer freshie that can be worn in office or a night on the town. IMO I think it’s leans slightly more to the feminine (coming from a gay man) I have no problem with that, definitely think even the most masculine of men could pull this of he’s daring enough or hey just doesn’t give a s*** and just likes a nice fresh fruity floral. I liked this one and so did my moms and feel it suited her more so I passed my sample onto her, definitely think this be a nice Xmas gift idea.

cp4044404

This stuff is the ultimate summer fragrance. Definitely leans feminine but a guy can absolutely wear this. I blind bought this with 0 regrets and found myself wearing it a ton this summer. It is great for outdoor activities like the pool, beach, or anywhere it has room to breathe. I'd go 1-2 sprays for the office. Projects like crazy and lasts forever on my skin.

amr99

Oh my gosh, yes to the glossy magazine insert!!! There is that something airy about it that new glossy paper has. I do think this is unisex. I would love this on a man- so fresh, but I also like it for myself. I can also see another reviewers point about being sexy and trashy hahah there is something that’s really in your face about this fragrance with how strong it is and how it kind of really fills the nose (almost like the sensation of an astringent but this frag doesn’t smell like astringent) Oh and yes it does have a familiar montaleness to it. I really like this, I think this could be a versatile fragrance. It’s beautiful and strong and holds up to the weather and parties. I however do not get the oud other reviewers are mentioning.. the closest thing I detect is that bitter neroli mix with an ever so slight woodiness of sandalwood.

hamperface

I'm shocked there's only one review here mentioning oud. It is one among several scents discernable in the first couple hours, and it is the one with the most staying power. Overall I would say oud was 50% of everything Day Dreams projected. Now, after showering, it is the lone remaining note, and, though very nearly a skin scent, still a fully complex, funky, almost robust oud. I would think my decant was labeled incorrectly, but this is not the first montale perfume that didn't have oud listed as a note that I was positive oud was in. I don't share the previous poster's dislike of oud, however the beginning of this was so lovely i do wish that had lasted longer..

pamplemousse2

I completely agree with what bourcet said that this smells like a glossy magazine insert. The moment I applied this, I was brought back to reading magazines in the mid 2000s, smelling the perfume inserts in there and thinking they smelled so fresh and pretty and cool, and the subsequent nice glossy pages having that kind of fresh perfumed scent to them as well. In that sense it's "generic" smelling, but somewhat nostalgic. It's synthetic smelling, but still nice. I think it's the orange blossom that I really smell. There isn't too much else I have to say besides that it's generically very nice- a fresh, light floral with orange. It's uplifting, happy, sunny, and pretty.

25 minutes later and I don't feel it's changed *too* terribly much. It feels like mostly orange blossom, neroli, and a bit of jasmine. So citrusy still with some white floral. Under this, I smell a very slight tropical undertone, with some tiare and maybe vanilla and coconut, but it is very faint and hardly there on me. This does not scream "tropical" to me at all, if that's what you want right off the bat, at least on me. It is nice still, but does seem a bit "cheap" smelling, or a more standard designer scent.

40 minutes later and it smells more like vanilla and sandalwood, but still has the light fresh citrusy floral tone to it. The sandalwood is creamy and spicy and vanilla adds a bit more body to it. There's also a hint of dry, unsweetened coconut.

1.5 hours later and it's a lot more vanilla. It also has a certain sense of cleanness and freshness. This is a pretty unisex smell at this point, though projection has gone down to nearly a skin scent.

I'll see how long this lasts

Nearing the 2 hour mark, this gets veerrryyy musky on me, almost sweaty. Musk isn't listed on here, but I looked it up and other sites do list this as having musk in the base. I don't mind musk, but if you do, do be aware it may come on strong. I thought I smelt it a bit throughout my wear as well, but it's just now very much in the forefront.

5 hours later, it's still a musky vanilla scent and can still be smelt decently on the skin, but there is not projection otherwise.

11 hours later and it's gone. The last several hours I've honestly forgotten I've worn it, but on the skin you could still smell some vanilla and musk, but only with my nose directly to my skin.

Tropicat28

Smells like Oud upon first blast. Then when it settles it smells like sweet mandarin with light Oud. Can’t tell you much about the rest because I’m going to shower and return it. Smells good on someone else but this wasn’t what I was expecting. I don’t like Oud.

Ang.gom

This is sexy and trashy...haha
When I smell it, I imagine lady wearing too short, neon orange dress. She is leaving cheap club at 5am with the last guy... Her fake tan will stain his sheets..
it's a super synthetic and extremely potent fruit scent. I am sure it will find some fans, it's definitely not for me though.

TreyWay

As a man i can most definitely say that this perfume is for men and women. When i put this on i feel so fresh and it smells incredible. If you are a dude who's looking for a bold, fresh, sweet and long lasting perfume. Get it!

Celestya

It is a bold perfume. The sillage and longevity are excellent. I love this scent for summer, it is sexy! I can smell Tiare, Blossom, Jasmine and Vanilla (zero coconut). Very feminine, the fragrance is linear.
9/10
In this brand, for spring and summer, I prefer: Love --> Diamont Flowers = Day Dreams > Sweet Peony > Pure Gold > Crystal Flowers > Diamond Greedy > Intense Tiaré > Roses Greedy > Pearl > Sicily <-- Dislike

Neuropunkt

This is my second Montale (the first one being Dark Vanilla that turned my skin into smoked caramel glazed piece of ham...).
I am truly impressed with this one. It's feminine and assertive. Sweet, but fresh at the same time. Sheer complexity of this fragrance will keep you captivated for hours. It is a head turner for sure and trust me- less is more in case of this potent beauty. I would say this is the second fragrance (after my beloved Issey Miyake le Feu d'Issey) that smells as expensive as it actually is.
Longevity is also eternal for both- which is something you kind of expect from an expensive product.

bourcet

Strong, synthetic, sexy. Glossy magazine insert, chaotic mall counter, gaggle of girlfriends field tripping it to the restroom, the memories of busy nights out. This perfume is like a kiss that hits with a fist. An ebullient make out session with a sexy stranger...somewhere. Where are my keys I lost my phone. The excitement of springtime, the possibilities of new growth, of bottomless brunch, of being too loud and giving no fucks. The notes in this one are dizzying...the accords somehow both beautiful and overwhelming at the same time. It's...how you say...extra? Incredible how a perfume can be equal parts juvenile, mature, masculine, feminine, designer, niche, expensive and body spray trash is beyond me, but Montale manages to do just that. And I mean that in the best way possible.

lyka

Ne fait pas des merveilles avec la chimie de ma peau, je sens juste un peu de tiaré, de coco, le trouve agréable mais pas mémorable, bon parfum convenant en été. rien de plus à ajouter

Lauren528

I love this perfume, but it does smell similar to that derek lam perfume i hate! In the best way possible!

aqua76239

This scent seem to be very polarizing-people either like it or hate it. I think its rather unique and I haven't smelled anything like it before. I first tried it at Bloomingdales, sprayed on my hand and walked away. While talking to SA i kept getting whiffs of this sweet powdery fragrance with hint of fruit and I thought it was HER perfume. Imagine my suprise when I realized it was Daydream I sprayed on my hand. I don't find it very tropical, maybe just a little due to sweetness from tiare flower and coconut even though I don't actually smell coconut. It doesn't smell like typical beachy scent which is what I think throwing people off. There are several members who say it smells "like drugstore perfume" which it doesn't, and I am someone who worn drugstore fragrances before and I find it far too unique and expensive smelling. Or another comparing it to Escada fruity scents-I happened to like those and most of the time it smells VERY VERY fruity, and this isn't, to me its more powdery vanilla than typical fruity beachy coconut stuff.
Lasting power is knockout. After I sprayed it on my hand(1 very light spray), and an hour later got in the car with my husband, he immediately asked what it was and said it was very heavy. I like beast mode scents so thats right up my alley. I bought it soon after trying the first time and so far have zero regrets. I also love the canister bottle in pretty turquoise and gold, with dangling charm.
I wouldn't say its a safe blind buy so try beforehand.

smile4thecamera

There is something about Montale scents that have an underlying sameness. Maybe like Guerlain's guerlinade - a similar base in all. I like all these notes but put together I'm not crazy about the end result. There's not one note that stands out on me and ultimately, it's a heavy scent and honestly I can't imagine wearing this in hot or humid summer months. It doesn't translate as "beachy" really to my nose. This wouldn't make me want to Day Dream either.

Steffie32

I do like this fragrance. Not love. It’s pleasant enough. But nothing spectacular. A good Spring/Summer daytime scent. Tropical and a bit fuzzy almost,.. reminds me of a designer perfume.....a few sprays in warmer weather should be good or else it can choke you out...It’s ok. Idk if I’d repurchase this though.

lmwimsatt

I hate this new website setup. Dont u guys?

Flame Maiden

Day Dreams to me smells generic and synthetic. I can't say any more than it lacks anything special. It is pleasant enough for day time wear to work or out in nice weather. It lacks pizzaz for me. You could find something very similar at the drugstore. I can't even find something similar to compare as these type of scents do nothing for me. I am lucky I only bought a decant.

mymishka

you have to know that in hot summer it smells like tiare, jasmin, cocnut and vanilla.
but when it comes to cold weather - it turnes into the blend of orange blossom, neroli and oranges with some jasmine - and it feels wrong. For me personally, because I'm not a fan of neroli and orange blossom, I would even go far and say I hate them(((
so be careful with this chameleon!

Kots_Tanya

Just received it today and I keep smelling my hand and it reminds me of a designer perfume I used to own but I just can’t put my mind to what it is.
The point is, it’s nothing special that makes me want to keep it so I’ll probably be selling it.

Hours later: gosh, it has to be something from Dior. It’s torturing me, hehe. I need to know.

lediperehodovarts

Day Dreams for me was a love at first sniff kind of fragrance I remember opening up my Treasure Box and what immediately did I smell when I did? I smelt Day Dreams. Can I just say the longevity for me is around 12+ hours and sillage is around arms length but in public it's like a little scent bubble and it's heavenly and I've probably looked like a idiot wearing this smiling to myself and I'm still trying to put my finger on how to describe this one.

I am planning to get a bigger bottle because I can't get enough of Day Dreams. Well done Montale you've got me hooked.

lmwimsatt

According to its notes, daydreams shall work well with bath and body works sweet tropical vanilla lotion. The lotion smells like candy corn to me and my friend, so it will add a little buttery sweetness to the indolic perfume

MissMichu

What a disappointment :(. Tried this today in Paris, very heavy. For some reason "old lady" comes to mind.

Musume

I bought it unsniffed through the Montale website and just received it. Well, not worth the 130 euro I've paid, that's for sure. It's not bad though, very similar to the Escada fruity perfumes you can smell everywhere in the summertime. First you smell a blast of artificial citrus, then some none specific fruits, after half an hour you're left with a mix of citrus, fruits, and very light coconut with a hint of white flowers. Very nice, I'll keep it, but, I don't think I'll buy it again, not at full price at least. Sillage at Montale standard.

Daria_21

Well, my parents are back from Paris and came over this morning, bringing along Day Dreams (and Sweet Oriental Dream) with them. Knowing this blind buy could go either way, this has, unfortunately, gone the wrong way for this gal.

Fragrantica describes this as a floral fruity gourmand - I am a gourmand girl through and through, and I can tell you Day Dreams is not gourmand in the absolute least. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's quite strong, leaning much more along the lines of a masculine citrus fragrance. There's a note that's quite off putting to my nose. Is it the neroli? Orange blossom? No clue. I've been wearing it for about an hour and a half, and I smell zero coconut, and zero vanilla, which is so darn disappointing.. My mum and dad both said it was very strong and somewhat masculine smelling, while my husband liked it and said 'keep it, it may grow on you.'

One thing is for sure, projection is an absolute beast. One spray, and it's all I can smell, filling up my airspace in a way that would be great if you loved this scent. Unfortunately for me, it's borderlining on offensive.

I think this would be great for a man who loves strong citrus scents. I don't find there's anything feminine about this one.

Ah well - you win some, you lose some!

Edit: sold this one.

Today is my lucky day, because my aunt and uncle, who live less than 10 minutes away from rue Pierre Charron where the Montale boutique is located, were kind enough to get me Day Dreams (which just made its debut in the boutique today!) along with Sweet Oriental Dream, upon my eager request. My parents will be in France next week, and will bring them home to me in Canada. These will be my first Montale purchases (both blind) and I absolutely cannot wait. Will share my thoughts on Day Dreams at my first opportunity!

This is along the same lines of L'Artisan Parfumeur's Batucada, but on steroids.
