L'Extase Rose Absolue by Nina Ricci is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. L'Extase Rose Absolue was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Francis Kurkdjian. Top notes are Pink Pepper and Black Pepper; middle notes are Taif Rose and Atlas Cedar; base notes are Benzoin, Vanilla, Patchouli and Musk.

L'Extase Rose Absolue comes out at the beginning of 2017 as a new Nina Ricci fragrance from the L'Extase line. After the original L'Extase from 2015 and Eau de Parfum Legere version L'Extase Caresse de Roses from 2016, perfumer Francis Kurkdjian created a sensual night-time edition of this fragrance.

The composition of L'Extase Rose Absolue focuses on a luxurious and “burnt” Taif rose accord, spiced at the top with black and pink pepper, before being wrapped in a creamy woody nuance of Atlas cedar. Amber musks mixed with vanilla, benzoin and patchouli are at the base of the perfume.

Model Laetitia Casta is the face of the campaign. Darker than the previous ones, the bottle is decorated with golden details and a silky black ribbon. The fragrance is available as a 80 ml Eau de Parfum.

This is a jammy dark sweet and sexy rose fragrance. Incredibly similar to velvet rose and oud by Jo Malone. Very nice scent and with supersonic longevity and sillage, especially for a designer release. It is now discontinued and I’m trying to narrow down my collection. So as I barely reach for it I’m selling this on, bit because it’s not lovely but because I’m not wild about rose and the profile just doesn’t feel like me. I’ve used a fraction of it, and can attest to its excellent performance. Please message me if interested.

I have an unopened 80 ml bottle that I'd like to swap or sell. DM me if you're in the EU and would like to add this beauty to your collection :)

I was stupid lucky to find this listed on Mercari for $50. I didn't even know what it was, but the bottle intrigued me, so I checked Fragrantica (this is right up my alley, as far as notes go), saw the prices on ebay for it - my eyes shot open lol - and then saw it was created by FK. I hauled ass to buy it within the hour it was listed. Everything about it is a win.

Ricci's Rose Absolue is gorgeous, a sweetened femme fatale rose with bedroom eyes aimed for your soul.
I was struck by how similar this is to my old high school standby, Armani Diamonds, just more intense and so much smoother. I haven't tried Oud Satin Mood yet, so I can't compare, but this does remind me of my first ever Rose Oud combo, which I still love greatly: Valentino's Valentina Oud Assoluto (although Valentina is more rough and woodier, with leather.)
Once again, this Rose Absolue is smoother. FK is a master at seamless blending, and that really shows here. Just amazing.

But others are right about the infinite options for a deep rose/oud combo. There's fragrances like that all over the market, so I wouldn't lament the discontinuation of L'Extase Rose Absolue. I wouldn't pay those insane triple-digit ebay prices for this, ever.

Lmfao at the prices on ebay

I hate this it makes me too sick, the pepper smell is too sharp and suffocating, I can't smell any rose or vanilla in there, just the suffocating pepper .. Will never buy again

I haven’t been in the perfume game for about 3 years now and have just recently rediscovered interests in my wardrobe. I was gonna write a review for this lady in comparison to OSM and the extrait version (which had always been stable picks of mine even when I wasn't in the hobby), but found out it was discontinued.

What a shame that this bubblier dupe for OSM is now gone. It doesn't smell the same as OSM, as there is less wood and much more sweetness, but the DNA is much alike, like a younger sister to OSM. It's a lychee-syrupy rose that you can almost smell the stickiness, but in a good way.

I remember buying this for about $30 and now it is like $350. It would be a great option to substitute OSM or simply as itself when it was cheap, but I don’t think it’s THAT good to be worth $350. I simply don't understand why the perfume industry always gets rid of their best creations and flankers.

Well, I've got no words, it's intoxicatingly sexy, mysterious, dark and heads turning rose... I wish I didn't know this scent coz now they ask crazy money for it. but GOD, I NEED IT ! If someone wants to swap it, please, DM me, I've got Amouages and other niche I am willing to swap for this.

Wow! I bought this in late 2020 and I didn't wear it for a while. Coming back to this three years on, I am struck by its impact and quality. This smells exotic and mysterious. It's a stunning, smoked, almost gourmand rose with a touch of something like oud and a lovely warm resinous sweetness. This is a stunner that lasts and I don't know why I've not been reaching for it because it's still one of my favourites in my collection, three years and probably having tested about 500 fragrances later. I'll be so sad when my bottle is gone...

opining.olfaction

It's a NO for me!
I wanted something that would capture rose but also gave me a deep, dark element...this was anything but for me.
To me, this smelled like a bowl of sweet berries, covered by a wet napkin, that's leaving the smell of wet moldy cloth on the berries...yeah! Picture that.

Aroverie

They always discontinue the best. In love with this. This is an ultra-sexy, deep, jammy rose and a powerhouse - when I smell this from the cap, it sticks to my nose and fingers even without having sprayed it. A stellar Kurkdjian creation. Was using my only bottle sparingly but just found a lone bottle of this in a random duty free and snatched it immediately. Smaller duty free’s are awesome for finding rare gems - a real treasure hunt. So happy!

On comparisons with Oud Satin Mood which I have, I get no oud in this and rose is the prominent note, while OSM has a prominent though smooth, non-skanky oud and a more obvious vanillic base. You can definitely see the inspiration FK took creating these, but these are by no means dupes of each other. If I’m being honest, OSM’s blend overall is smoother - but again, not the same scent. No regrets and happy to have a backup!

blkleather_redlace

Similar to L'Extase, which is similar to Armani Si to my nose, but this is even deeper, jammier, and smokier than the original, which feels fresh in comparison. It has the same wine-like rose I like in Si. This stuff is very strong and tenacious. I love powerhouse fragrances and I'm not sure I can tolerate this one except in drydown. I wonder what it will be like in cooler, dry weather. It's usually hot and humid where I live.

L'Extase Rose Absolue
My father used to drink Manhattans, and I remember the scent of him stirring his rather boozy whiskey cherry drink while we talked about the day. The opening of L'Extase Rose Absolute hits me with that memory. After the opening, the perfume's woody rose takes over, and it becomes a cozy soft powdery rose scent. So, yeh..., I'm getting a sweet rosy Manhattan cocktail. 😉
My first thought of the perfume was that it was a combination of L'Extase and Rose Extase.
It is not as deep and rich as I thought it would be (blind buy). However, the softness of this perfume is lovely!
I was late to the game for this one and had to pay $119.00 because it is now harder to find I believe.

If someone in the UK/Europe is selling this please let me know 😌

Writing another review:
I was wondering why is this perfume has a touch of sourness to it on me and lo and behold, there's black pepper note.
I need to make a mental note not to buy anything with black pepper in it.
Although this is still wearable in colder temperature for me (equates to office AC environment).
It's luscious jammy rose with tangy pepper touch. Not as spicy as Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude, which I relinquished to my dad.
I am partial to the chocolatey nuance of benzoin, ever since I bought Oriflame Amber Elixir Night.
It's prominent here too.
If you're looking for resinuous spicy sweet rose, this is it.

My bottle is FOR SALE W BOX, US only. *Please don't message if you aren't serious about purchasing.*
I love Rose dominant perfumes and blind bought L'Extase Rose Absolue off a recommendation from a popular YouTube fragrance channel. It doesn't play well with my chemistry. It reminds me too much of the old Debbie Gibson perfume, Electric Youth.

lmnsvgz

Rose Jam and Oud. 90:10. Similar to Oud Satin Mood but A LOT more likeable. Less heavy on the woody/oud notes

LSAUG

I was gifted this in a bottle swap by a kind Fragrantica friend I met here. L'extase Absolu is for me a big and sweet jammy taif rose that is from beginning to end enveloped by rich, sweet, dense vanilla, the warmth of benzoin and comforting musks. I don't get a heavy pepper note, only enough to give the perfume a bit of lift. There is no heavy Oud here as well. So many perfumes claim to have Oud in them, but I have smelled real oud and real oud is a bomb and you know it when you smell it. The woody notes in here are gentle and more of a gentle cedar, at least to my nose. So, I don't know how close to Oud Satin Mood this would be since I have never smelled that perfume. I will say this reminds me of my bottle of Love Chopard but for me L'Extase Absolu is actually sweeter. Love Chopard has more rose than L'extase Absolu. This perfume is linear throughout unlike Love Chopard, Love Chopard has thorny roses and is like being splashed in the face w/ rosewater to start but ends up becoming a more gourmand, sweet and jammy rose. L'extase Absolu is always a sweet rose homemade jam infused w/ lots of vanilla bean. My husband LOVES this! I really like it as well. Very sweet, very warm, very comforting. A pretty perfume for a rose lover w/ a big, sweet tooth.

the_gunner

Oh, this one is quite a ride, and I LOVE IT!
first, it starts off sort of oriental and middle eastern, it's in the same realm as Shaghad oud and Arabians Tonka (not the same scent but the same school, so to speak)... jammy rose, smoky, aoudy, and sweet.
THEN .. the most surprising thing happens in the very last stage of the drydown.. it turns (to my nose at least) into midnight fantasy by Britney Spears!!!! berry shampoo!
such a journey!
and I love every minute of it

oh and the performance is GREAT

Dina7

The rose. Dark, dense, sweet, stunning.

Mc1995

Absolutely gorgeous fragrance. Better than the original L’Extase. More sexy, deep, jammy rose, in comparison the original is smelling more chemical, freshie rose, surprisingly. Worth the price. Great value. This actually really reminds me of like a modern Elizabeth Taylor ‘Diamonds And Rubies’ and a bit of Lancôme Tresor.

DISCONTINUED FRAGRANCE REVIEW
NO.#20 / 10.

OKAY!
Time for the last in my "Discontinued Fragrance Review" schtick I've had going.
20 out of 10 ain't bad... nor is it even correct.
*Flashback to improper fractions in high school math class*

Anyway, this sh*t is good. It's actually *better* than I anticipated.
It's a beautiful WARM rose. Seriously, like someone is holding a fragrant rose petal over a small flame on a quiet night.

If this is a classic oud fragrance, then I like oud.
If this is a dead-on dupe for "Oud Satin Mood", then I will - apparently - adore OSM! Yes, I know they're both by FK, but I have no problem with a dude who makes a niche (read: expensive) perfume, and then makes a designer (read: less expensive) dupe of it. Dude had my best interests at heart. I thank him for that.
What I don't thank him for is allowing this more wallet-friendly version to be discontinued. It's nice to know I have an alternative, but I'm not looking forward to spending that amount of cash for it when the time comes. I'll ignore that problem until I can't anymore.

Basically, I smell a warm, ever-so-slightly smoky-and-sweet rose.
It's feminine, mysterious, inviting, sexy, cosy, Big-Girl perfume.
A perfume I would not be mad at my baby for remembering as one of Mummy's night-time perfumes (when I'm grand and getting ready to go to a gala, obviously).

Sillage is GLORIOUS. I love smelling this on/from myself, and longevity is fairly decent at ~6 hours. It smells great on clothes and skin.

I low-key have a crush on the "L'extase" range and want to get them all before they disappear entirely. 3 down, 2 to go!

Kitty rating: 8.5/10.

Saj_Shae

Has a similar vibe to OSM except the Taif rose is incredibly pungent and differs severely from the Turkish and Damascena roses found in OSM. Not blind buy safe unless you're certain you love taif rose. Taif rose is a very oriental rose that has strong nuances of oud. In this fragrance it became very overwhelming for me due to the pepper, patchouli and cedar.

If anyone has a bottle for sale please message me !

@graduate2018- i messaged you. Have a bottle for sale

noellyiriasb

I haven't tried this one yet but I can already tell it will be a good one not just based on the reviews, but because it's an FK fragrance which makes it a work of art automatically in my books.

Gyps

Blind buy that is very beautiful

kittywhiskers

Ouuuuhhh this perfume is gorgeous! And it lasts forever! I sprayed it before going out last night, wore the same jeans today... I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day as if I had sprayed just hours before.

This is pure rose, I don't really get any of the pepper notes, maybe just a bit of the pink pepper, and it blends really nicely with the vanilla/benzoin. Agree that it smells a bit oud-y. Smells like a jammy dark red rose, perhaps the enchanted rose in Beauty and the Beast? Overall a beautiful creation, the bottle design is simple yet classy

Update #2: I can't wear this anymore. I get a plasticky sweetness that is so off-putting and makes me sick. I'm so sad cause I really wanted to enjoy this. I think it's possibly the benzoin. Only sprayed a handful of times; I'll probably end up selling my bottle.

Lily Frag

If you like Middle Eastern smells but not too much this could be a great starter. I can’t believe there is no Oud listed here, that’s all I smell. It’s sophisticated and very well blended.

I love it sometimes and hate it some other times. Happy to have in my collection and think it’s a superb value for money (if you can still get it). Is it’s discontinued?

lady_ireth264

Leaving another review.

This is very exotic, how I imagine a Persian princess would smell like.
Not something to wear in the heat.
For me the name is apt, because it's all about that deep, luscious, dark rose.
The benzoin makes it sweet like a turkish delight.
The pepper notes gave it that sour tanginess which certainly renders this a winter perfume.

As I have mentioned before, this is similar to Sensuous Noir by Estee Lauder but a more wearable version and amped up rose.
And I don't think this adheres well on clothes, but it blooms on my skin.

Moderate longevity and sillage.

mwelle

I have tried my best to like it but it is time to admit my defeat. I have a suspicion that FK is selling his trial formulations to other companies, and this could be easily one of the trials for OSM. To my nose, it might be same genre but different scents. It has a bright/sour opening, probably due to pink pepper. Then comes gourmand leaning rose and woody notes. There is vanilla and benzoin, but rather in supporting role. I find OSM (EDP) less gourmand and more soapy than L'Extase. It reminds me of Kayali's take on rose/oud combo, but I find Kayali much refined and less sour.
Scent (Objective): 5.5/10
Longevity: 8.5/10
Silage: 8/10
Price: 10/10 (I bought mine in 2020, not sure about current price)

Olesi

I can smell Kayali diamond Pink pepper, only difference being on the opening. Kayali opens with more pink pepper while Nina Ricci opens with more roses.

jocing

This is one of my favorite so far! The Benzoin and pepper is prominent here. Benzoin, cedar and pepper smell like a burning fireplace.

People said it smell like rose but to me after blending all the note Benzoin+ pepper + cedar = fireplace vibe and someone burning the rose petal.
It smell like baking some lychee skin on a BBQ net mesh at the fireplace.

This perfume do not have much layer, the scent do not rolling from top to base.
Is straight forward scent, imagine you standing at a fireplace and someone baking some lychee skin, the lychee skin heat up and dry up, the environment full of this aroma in the air.

Imagine wearing this during winter or raining day.

GenevieveRose57

I love this one. I don't smell any pepper in the opening. It smells like warm vanilla and dark rose. Very rich and cozy. It's a little spicy. My boyfriend always gives me compliments when I wear this. Very high quality! Highly recommend.

$¢enta$ti¢

This is shocking This smells like MFK’s oud satin mood like 98% but more rosey and less vanilla and the man himself MFK made this fragrance.

This is definitely more of a feminine take on Oud Satin Mood I know the OSM is a bit stronger and a tad bit masculine but if you’re a woman this is going to suit you tremendously making you smell irresistible. (I hope my wifey don’t read this) but this an honest review!

Scent profile: Oud satin mood is much more rounded out and is a great unisex composition. This on the other hand is a very sweet rose fragrance that gives that impression of OSM but a feminine version and it’s a Perfect option for women thank god I wouldn’t want my wifey to use up my bottle of MFK’s OSM anyway. 😂

AmBo

I considered selling this, as family who sniffed it thought it was too much, but I just can't part with it. It was big on YouTube a few years ago, and I fell for the hype, but it's a solid jammy rose that lasts and lasts. It's not subtle but she's pretty.

Jezeleah

This is just way too peppery! Rose Extase gets the pepper right, but this is just too much! It smells a little like oud satin mood which I like and own, but they go in different directions on my skin. OSM is sweeter, more complex. Sold my bottle!

PhonePotato

It’s definitely 95% Oud Satin Mood, I own this and the OSM and they are very similar. I can’t see how anyone could honestly down vote that.

If you own OSM, Shaghaf Oud, Oud Mood, Roses Vanille, Oud Bouquet, etc. then this one is completely redundant. Out of the lot, OSM by MFK is the best in my opinion. But if you go by price then I think this one is better.

110% blind buy safe if you’ve smelled others like this with that middle eastern rose-vanilla-amber-patch/Oud vibe.

100% unisex.

Performance is very good, a couple sprays will fill an entire apartment for an hour after you leave. Please go easy.

churinl

Like others have mentioned, that sharp blast of two peppers in the opening almost ruins this for me. Eventually, it transforms into a jammy, vanilla rose, which reminds me somewhat of Tocade but not as syrupy sweet. I received it in a great swap with a lovely Fragrantician, and I've always wanted to try it, so I'm not disappointed. I will say that to me it smells better when you catch wafts of it as you move rather than smelling it directly from your skin. When I do that, the peppers come on strong again, as does the patchouli, which is hit or miss for me. I'm getting tired of every other rose fragrance being combined with patch. In this case, it somewhat recalls Coco Noir. Both of these are scents I can only see myself reaching for under certain conditions, mainly dressy evening events in the late fall and winter.
Not bad at all, but not a love either.

RottigrlNYC

I really don’t like this perfume, I have a new bottle in box if anyone wants it. It’s yours. First person that asks, gets it. I don’t need to keep fragrances I’ll never use. I’d rather just give it away to someone who will love it.

virna.medina

I have been into rose scents ever since I've tried Intense Cafe and wanted to get something else, because although I love Intense Cafe, the rose in it is too jammy for my taste. So I have been exploring into several rose perfumes and bump into this on youtube. My fave e-commerce shop has this and the pink one. And the stock of this one went down very fast. Based on reviews the pink one does not seems like something I would wear often so I got this one (the only one left).

First spray: Kinda like it, felt the rose is too oldfashioned and not sweet enough. Also got a middle eastern vibe which I do not like.
After couple of uses: I looooooove this. silage is great, longevity is also great. I sprayed this before bedtime and after 8 hours still going strong, even after I took my wudhu and wet my hands, the scent is still there.

I am so happy that I purchase this.

RottigrlNYC

Ughh I’m never again buying a perfume based on reviews here. Oh my goodness what a huge disappointment this one was. Synthetic crap mess. Also weak and just terrible. I don’t get any of the rose or actually none of the notes, it smells like a very weak something sweet, but after about 15mins it’s all gone. Could be my nose, I don’t tend to smell weak perfumes. Maybe coz I’m used to strong quality Niche perfumes. This one is nothing like ppl here describe it. I have a new bottle sprayed only twice( enough for me) if anyone wants it, pm me. I’m about to downsize my huge 300 bottle collection. Only the ones I love can stay. The rest are going to someone who will love them and use them.

allyasshi

A bit disappointed with all the hype of this perfume comparison with OSM but it doesn't smell OSM at all! It does have the vibe but not a dupe. OSM smell like rich people with rich notes in it, rich with rose, rich with vanilla, and the oud make perfect combination. Rose absolue still a good perfume but the pepper ugh i swear mfk probably can't choose between pink & black and Oh hey let's just put em both, badumtss opening smell harsh. However after 10-20 mins the drydown are beautiful ~~ and why there is no litchi in it? I swear I smell litchi rose vanilla bit woodiness

chelseamurdock

The ultimate vixen fragrance. Sweet, lush and juicy crimson rose petal elixir with a hint of spice. I picture an alluring vampire queen wearing this perfume along with her deepest and darkest red lipstick. So sexy! It was a love at first sniff for me.

dearaari

I wanted this perfume for the longest time. Shame I fell in love with Kayali’s Elixir 11 first. This is reminiscent of that scent profile. Dark, luscious, oudy oily.. Rosey, syrupy & Smokey but there’s something that tAkes it up a notch. Some flavour almost that exudes from the drydown. It’s almost savoury? Elixir is more airy and soft but Rose Absolu is loud and boisterous! She’s the star of the show, the focal point of the room. Too many sprays will choke a poor man but I find this a very extravagant accessory, something that really enhances an evening attire. It is by far one of the mid ground oudy perfumes that is still wearable but possibly bordering on the OTT side. I personally cannot wear many middle eastern ambery fragrances, this one being one of them. It’s just too much going on. It would be an absolute gem to the right nose, but it’s so pungent I cannot wear it more than a day straight. It doesn’t jive with me.

eloisegirl

This was a blind buy in 2021 from Shoppers Drug Mart - 19.99. What a deal! Fabulous eternal roses for winter evenings. This has lasted longer than 24 hours on me, and I think of it as "oily" in that there is some ingredient that makes it last and last. Sophisticated, dark, and elegant - roses that are seductive yet refined.

SailorV

A pretty, sweet and intense rose perfume. I think I would have been more enamored with this a few years ago, before I tried so many niche rose scents, but I still like it a lot.
To my nose L'Extase Rose Absolu is the more affordable little sister of MFK Oud Satin Mood, which is not a big surprise considering they were both created by Francis Kurkdjian. The main difference is that Rose Absolu has a patchouli instead of oud and feels way less formal. At times it also smells like there were a few drops of Lush Rose Jam blended in.

So, this is like a big bouquet of dark pink roses. Very jammy and borderline fruity, I wouldn't have been shocked if there was litchi or raspberry in the notes list. The base consists of sweet vanilla, warming benzoin and quite a bit of clean, humid patchouli to add a darker note to all the sweetness. No other note can compete with the rose though, like the name suggests this really is a rose fragrance first and foremost.
Even though this starts out loud and leaves a noticeable candied rose skinscent over night, it has a fresh, dewy overlay that keeps it from feeling heavy and oppressive. I could imagine wearing it from autumn to early spring, day and night, but only if I couldn't use my other rose perfumes that I love more.

SuzanneS

A little bit old, and a little bit new but a whole lot of drama for a designer release.

Ive pretty much given up on designer realeases as most turn out to be chemical shitstorms to my nose claiming to be a real object produced in nature but obviously isnt. Here MFK presents something quite remarkable.

Peppery roses are an old very upscale elegant idea which french houses like Caron are famous for. Under its big Taif rose, an undercurrent of sweet rose winey jam that reminded me of Lancomes jammy rose like Parfait d Roses.
Cedar woodiness supports it with the patchouli, and this shows off MFKs skill in balancing to where these two materials dont overpower. The benzoin adds the oriental bite and perhaps that burnt edge, and the musk gives it its beastly longevity. Its really the goldilocks or gateway rose to niche offerings.

The concept is adult, and the big rose adds drama. Its a rich romantic feminine scent. I dont think this is old at all. Quite classy at a designer price point, and that is very rare these days.
Ill also use this to punch up the rose on my orientals but it stands alone just fine.

Over 35+, the level up girl trying to upscale her life that wears Zara basics with a Chanel bag. This is a perfect niche buy on a designer budget.

یه عطر عالی با یه امای کوچیک!!!
یه ترکیب فوق العاده از رز، عود و وانیل داره که من عاشقشم. اما تنها مشکلش قیمت بالاشه که کمی عذاب وجدانم میاره برای خرید

nakurp

i am not quite sure about this one.. it started off with something spicy, i think its the peppery notes thats bothering me. but it kinda remained there until the dry down, even though it only leaves a tiny trail but its still there. maybe thats what makes it a bit old-smelling like to my nose. i get the jammy rose vibe, but its rather bitter than sweet jammy rose (compared to montale instense cafe for example). i also dont quite find it a dupe for MFK oud satin mood.. but yea i mean for the price, this can be worn as a date night fragrance too if you will. its kinda far from my expectation but yeah

Chavezb3

This could have been amazing but why so much pepper????? & to top it off, it is right in the opening, & not just one type of pepper but 2 different ones. It’s a jammy rose with lotssssss of pepper. Smells a lot like Rose Gourmand from Zara, but RG does not have the pepper note so if the pepper in this bugged you, get Rose Gourmand from Zara.

perfumesniffer

I despise oud.

After reading so many reviews that described this as oud-free I bought it. This is NOT oud-free. For the first hour there is a lot of that burnt plastic/burnt rubber/wet paint/melted crayons smell with a big puff of pepper. I mean, it's unmistakeable.

After about an hour, the oud lessens quite a bit, and I'm okay with what remains, but the oud is always there in the background gnawing at me.

I wish I had just bought a bottle of Mancera Roses Vanille, which is basically the same thing, without the revolting oud note.

And, yes, it's very similar to MFK Oud Satin Mood (though it's less oudy) as well as the Lancome Oud. Mature? Um, I don't know any 40+ who wear oud so I'm gonna say this is decidedly for the younger crowd and definitely not a grandma scent by any stretch of the imagination. It's essentially a less sweet, softer and more oudy Mancera Roses Vanille.

PGak

This is incredible. Heavy and syrupy jammy rose with a hint of woodiness. I am shocked at the low price point. It lasts well over 8 hours on my skin. This is definitely in the same vain as Oud Bouquet and Kayali Sweet Diamond in my collection with the jammy sweetness... this one has something darker at the base like deep rich red wine. It's utterly addicting. If you are a dark rose lover, this is a must have! This might be my all-time favorite fragrance of all time.

Fragnant

All I get is canned grass jelly drink that you find at the Southeast Asian market.

Aeiris81

This one is poetry in motion to me, it starts as a dark jaded rose falling into it's core, finding sweet caramelised essence in the dry down just as it's petals start to wither. It is a bit nostalgic but nonetheless absolutely beautiful.

olganbo

love , love , love ! I'm not a fan of rose but this one I love ! It's really feminine , classy , and yes mature but not in a bad way it's SEXY mature . There are a lot of rose who make it girly but the vanilla balance that ! And there is this plastic vibe like poison which I'm addicted ! The sillage is LIIFE , the whole room smell my scent whenever I put it on . For the price , it's a gem . RUN buy it

whaleambergris

The dry down is amazing but the opening it smells like a rosy bitter cough syrup vibe which is kind of off-putting to me. The dry down similar to oud satin mood to me but not 100%, mostly 55%

alsa7

Roses, with a deep flavour, probably the woody resin. It has something that reminds me of sweet roses jam.
It is definitely a woman's scent, the epitome of classic elegance.
Seems to be such a rare find.

jayznar

Unfortunately for me this was a blind buy fail way back when I first started getting into the fragrance community on youtube. It collects dust in the back of my shelf. This fragrance made me realize rose and I are not friends most of the time. I’m a vanilla lover btw. I truly do not have the fashion or personality for this and I can really only see this on an older male/women like maybe 40+ . It’s just very mature SUPER CLASSY YET BOLD ARTISTIC THICK ROSE JAM SPICY PEPPER vibes. Although I like the vanilla rose benzoin combo here there is still lots of that pink pepper & black pepper and mixed with ceded on the skin it’s annoying IMHO. Get a tester unless you’re a diehard rose lover. XO

jobella3

At first spray, I thought this was a blind buy mistake BUT the dry down is heaven!

supersaiyan

A slightly tart, candy-like rose. I get the OSM reference, but really there is no oud beyond a touch of savouriness adding to the depth of the composition. L'ERA focuses on a sexy, jammy rose, that is reminiscent of Oud Bouquet/Shaghaf Oud without the beastly projection, which I prefer. This is a nice, darker vanilla rose with more focus on the rose, good value for the price of the bottle. I can imagine a single woman in her mid-20's wearing this out to the club in the winter, but also suitable for date night at a fancy restaurant (with lots of wine).

étoilesdejasmin

just received it. It was obviously a blind buy and I’m so damn glad it was. A sweet, sensual rose, but in no way salacious— elegant, *not* mature or old lady. I’m twenty.
It is so alluring in that typical rose way.. if you’re not a fan of roses, don’t.

initially, I got too much pepper, which made it smell a little pungent since I’m not a lover of pepper. ( and oddly in the opening very much reminded me of Lancôme la nuit trésor….) But the dry down is a slightly musky-creamy, rich jaaaaammy rose, a deeply pink rose.. I can only detect a bit of musk, Nothing overpowers the rose. This is a pure rose, no leaves no stem no nothing. what really astounded me was the fact that I notoriously have perfume gobbling skin, I mean gobbling- common beasts get swallowed by it… and this ? Lasts quite a bit and projects a little. If you are an absolute lover of roses, Get it.

Edit : a long while I’ve had this one and my sister always tells me I smell like this local berry koolaid we have here. She probably means the jammy syrup rose.. because it really does project ; This stuff is powerful. My sister told me she smelled this 3 hours after I left; at the damn doorstep ! I just walked out and it lingered !

Scandal1

Thank god I didnt blind buy this one! Not for me ..there is a weird note that kept bugging me and made me feel sick..I couldn't wait to go home to wash it off ..the note smelt like gasoline with dirty frying oil..not for me

melanie mother or foxes

Very nice. Smells sweet rosy oud. Lovely blend and good longevity and sillage. Reminds me of JM Velvet rose oud. People have commented and mistaken it for PDM Delina.

HugoAlfie

WOW, this is sublime. Absolute perfection of rose/oud/vanilla combination. I like Oud Satin Mood too, but at this price, with a gorgeous looking bottle to boot, it’s a no brainer to get this.

hsiangchi.huang

THIS IS SOOOOOOOO GOOD! One of the best and probably the most acceptable "sweet rose/oud" fragrances I've tried.

This is 85% of a dupe for MFK Oud Satin Mood, and to be honest, I might like this one just a tad more than oud satin mood. L'extase is sweeter, more feminine and mouth-watering; whereas, oud satin mood is less sweet and has more oud. I'm usually not a fan of oud because it can smell like burnt plastic sometimes. For example, Lancome Oud Bouquet is too pungent to me and reminds of undried paint. JM velvet rose & oud has good amount of oud, and it's the most oud I can stomach. Armani rose arabie is hardcore oriental, which I can fully appreciate its beauty but won't necessarily wear it myself.

L'extase is a designer's take on oud, and it's a lot more wearable than the above-mentioned. It has a bit of gourmand qualities to it, almost like grape candies. Overall, I feel dark, mysterious, alluring (and yummy) when wearing this.

100% recommend for the oud satin mood lovers out there!

Peetster

I have both this one and Oud Satin Mood. This one does not remind me in the slightest of OSM. Two compeletly different fragrances. Like neither Cloud nor Burberry Her remind me of BR540! Call me a niche snob, but the niche versions of both MFK fragrances are superior to all their so called ‘dupes’. The comparison would not have been made by me were it not that many people said to find them similar. This is a nice scent, but nothing special to me, unfortunately. I would rather pay the price for the niche one, for sure. I would recommend to try before buying.

edwardedo

a less dark dan slightly more powdery version of Oud Satin Mood, 90% similarity.

dogmeat

This one opens up dark, earthy, and mysterious...makes me think of love potions, incantations, and witchery. L'Extase Rose Absolue is heavy and rich, so it's perfect for nighttime. As this dries down, the vanilla becomes more prounced on my skin and it sweetens up, but it never loses its dark, sumptuous quality. Performance here is exceptional. If you're looking for a gothic rose, this is a beautiful one.

dcjimr

Gorgeous jammy rose at an incredible price. One of the few fragrances of which I have a backup.

sibaraa

A nice peppery rose scent. I expected a lot from it. ppl were saying it leans a bit oudy. I don't get that. Just an oriental spicy sweet wet rose, and that's how taif rose smells. A nice one

greenviolets

This is a thinner and sweeter version of Sehr Al Sheila to my nose. That's probably why many people think there is oud in this. The ever present combination of rose and oud is etched into the collective unconscious. The patchouli and vanilla in the base is so comforting

Slickchick81

It wasn't love at first sniff, after spraying I didn't like the opening. The opening to me was overwhelming, I bought blind and thought I had made a mistake. I didn't have time to scrub it off as I had an appointment, I am glad I didn't because the dry down smelled heavenly, complex rose, deep rose and almost an oud smell even though oud is not in the DNA of this perfume. It becomes sexy. I do not think it is a safe blind buy, I think the opening will put people off, it smells a bit like beer and very sharp sweet rose, give it time and it will develop into something beautiful. It lasted on me for over 12 hours and sillage is very good so it is a beast for sure. The best thing is this perfume is
a Francis Kurkdjian, the price is also a plus, discounted websites selling this perfume for a an affordable price and the bottle feels heavy and lux.

MakeupNeverSleeps

I think this has a Goldilocks aspect to it, where it doesn't have the powderiness and heaviness of the oud in MFK Oud Satin Mood, the the nose-burning signature overwhelm of Montale Intense Cafe, the cloying/suffocating praline+oud aspect of Lancome Oud Bouquet, nor the degree of earthiness in TF Noir de Noir. This one is generally easier than the others in its comparison. Part of me was going to eventually/maybe buy Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud in a manner of concession, but this one fills my sweet/jammy rose void more effectively and without having to actually deal with oud.

Gemini Moon

Most affordable oud & rose perfume . Quality is up there compare to the price i paid. Even though i hate oud , this one is very wearable. Its a beautiful deep jammy rose perfume. Perfect for date nights 😉

DarlingLovely

Lives up to the hype for me. If you're a lover of deep, dark rose, I highly recommend.

StinkyTinky

This is quite entertaining! I’m in the Tom Ford noir de noir camp. That’s the first perfume I thought of when I got my nose on this…
Or if you own armaf club de nuit intense, very similar opening. Someone said it below and I’m relieved I’m not the only one. There’s a “beer” quality that makes this incredibly unique when first applied. Like you’re sniffing a freshly opened lager that just hissed removing the cap. It’s not my favorite part of it, but the journey is fun. It settles to a dry smelling rose jam without all the fluff and creaminess. It’s dry, but deeply buried, a sweetness peeks out.
I’ve got to say on clothes it’s phenomenal, so my skin might be pulling out the weird attributes.
I don’t find this distinctly winter, or a heavy hitter by any means. Can be worn most of the year with the exception of when you’re in the thralls of summer. It’s a quiet, classy yet boundary pushing rose with an effervescent yeasty-ness.
I don’t think it smells like oud satin mood…Could be worn on a woman or dude. Now I’m gonna go eat some food.
Update: I wore this out today for the first time and holy crap the compliments. Definitely projects more than I thought

ceeceelee

This is a beautiful rose. It's a deep, dewy, dark vanilla~rose with a gorgeous spicy journey. Very feminine in this day and age of unisex scents. Could a guy wear this, yes, of course. Any person can wear any scent and make it their own, it's just sometimes I want a feminine scent, this one hits the spot and then some. I couldn't believe how little the price tag is for not only the quality of the packaging, the smoothness of the blend but also the fact that this is a Francis Kurkdjian created scent. I don't think anyone today does a rose as well as he does. If this one doesn't strike your olfactory fancy, the entire line is created by him and just as beautiful. The only one I don't have is the one with marine accord, that particular note smells very fishy, lol, to my nose. They are a stunning bargain. But I believe they are discontinued, so when they're gone, they're gone.

Kimi203

Oh, this is my absolute love nowadays... Very feminine, but I can appriciate this on a sensitive men too... It is a black jammy, wet rose with dark spicy secret... Very deep, almost bloodish feeling scent for me... It has something that pulls my string and I search it in another parfums... I dont know, what note it is... I am so sad, it is discontinued... For that reason I want to try Oud satin mood... If it has this bloodish wet velvet something in it. Many people says they smell oud of it - although it is not listed.... So maybe it is that feeling I lack in many good parfumes - they smell nice, but dont have that mouthwatering decadent strange depth - that something i need to fell in love

lady_ireth264

Just bought this yesterday.
I swear this is so similar to Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir that I also have.

I'm not the type to distinguish whether a perfume is for day or night or summer or winter. I simply choose which perfume to wear for the day based on my clothing style of the day or my mood. But where SN is rather difficult to wear daily because the spices in it are too prominent, I find L'Extase Rose Absolu is easier to wear.

Upon spraying ERA, the first notes of pepper are definitely spicy, a little bit sour even, but still controlled. This is the part where I compare it to SN. SN's spices are gorgeous too but can be too loud.
Back to ERA, I waited and then the rose appeared. It's a majestic rose in full blossom, very voluptuous and beautiful. And a few minutes later grounded nicely in the sweet base notes. A wearable spicy sweet rose. I love it.

PS: But I hate the sprayer. Maybe it's just my bottle, but Nina Ricci should be able to produce perfume bottles with good sprayer.

Added note on longevity: I can still smell wafts of this perfume late in the evening when it was hours after my last spray in the afternoon. So it's quite long-lasting.

Scandipersian

I hunted this down finally but to my disappointment, this smells plenty woody, oudy smokey and too little rosy and vanilla… honesty, blah! 😷 Amber can do that ugly animalic thing on my skin but here it is also the heavy smokiness. It smells old sanctuary to me, in summer absolutely horrible, might get bearable in winter.
But do let me know if interested in swapping!!!

missogi

This is stunning. I love it dearly. Elegant, classy, sensual, gourmand rose. Rose Absolue has been praised enough here and on Youtube, so I'm gonna stop there. I'm a fan, I think it's gorgeous and could cost 5x more.

Now, on to my favorite topic of "smells like" :))... I'm wondering what actually happens when people compare fragrances. Possibility 1: two fragrances are rather different, but are used for the same occasion (going out, work, formal dinner, casual). Despite them being different, people still say they are similar cause they have the same "vibe" / are used in the same situation.
Possibility 2: one person started the myth of "it smells similar to xyz" and everybody keeps repeating it :) Hmmm.... I guess it could be a combination of both in the case of Rose Absolue.

Let me get this straight: !!!This is not a dupe of Oud Satin Mood!!! It also doesn't smell similar to OSM! Yes, the occasion for them is probably the same, but they are not very similar. I literally sprayed them on my right and left hand at the same time, and here are the differences:
- OSM is unisex; RA (Rose Absolue) is clearly feminine
- OSM is denser, stricter and feels more formal; RA is a bit lighter, chic but more casual
- OSM is oud with rose, RA is rose with vanilla
- The rose is totally different in both. OSM - bulgarian and turkish, RA - taif. Taif rose is a very distinct oriental rose, and I can clearly smell the difference.
- OSM dries down to a creamy, polite oud; RA dries down to vanilla with some rose.
Francis definitely did not "clone" himself in Nina Ricci as some claim. With his refined nose, he probably laughed when he heard that RA is considered to be a dupe of OSM. I rest my case.

I personally much prefer Rose Absolue to Oud Satin Mood. It's not at all about the price. OSM is beautiful, but it's too formal for me. Rose Absolue is more feminine, more versatile, and more wearable for me as a female. I really-really love it.

FragranceLover2021

I managed to get my hands on this one! It was a blind buy. I know everyone loves this one but unfortunately on my skin, I really wasn't keen on it especially in the opening. I get a lot of oud which I don't like (even though oud isn't listed). It does eventually dry down to a lovely powdery rose but unfortunately it's not for me. Happy to swap. Thank you xx

moonpearls

This fragrance takes me back in time and makes me feel like a young woman in Paris in the 1920s. The spirit reminds of Ricci Ricci by Nina which i fell in love with that dark purple campaign theme of 'midnight cat in Paris.'

Firstly the scent opens as a deep sweet rose, jammy as others are saying, in a very delicious way. I think the black and pink pepper give it this dark and mysterious aura and differentiate it from other rose-patchouli-cedar blends. Within half an hour though it settles into a more rose-vanilla-benzoin-musk and those peppery notes fade away. The rose is still the star ingredient and smells much softer, but close to the skin the jammy quality remains very nicely and it will stay on the clothes in a warm way. If it was a colour it would be wintery warm jewel tones like deep purple, blue, pink.

This is my perfect fall and winter scent, it's very mysterious and feminine, takes me back in time as I say. I think it is discontinued because it doesn't smell like contemporary perfumes, but it's like choosing vintage clothes to wear in my view. It's the best thing and has a different spirit, not 'outdated' as industry lingo might have it. otherwise it makes no sense this lovely perfume is not around anymore but the young apple Nina range is with loads of flanks.

Dissolved_Mind

What a beauty! Initial spray kind of smells like beer, but it lasts only a few seconds. Once settled, L'Extase Rose Absolue is a magnificent, deep, vanilla jammy rose. It's sweet, borderline gourmand and reminds me of Turkish desserts and Arabian incense. Unisex. This fragrance is literally mouthwatering, oh that vanilla and benzoin are blended so well! Also, it's quite a dry scent, you can feel the dryness/smokiness in the back of your throat which I guess comes from cedar, but it only makes it more gourmand. Lasts all day and you can smell it days after on clothes. I'm in love, such a wonderful dark mysterious scent!

Gigigr

This is an amazing jammy rose. Super sweet. Almost smells like very ripe figs to my nose. I don't pick up any pepper notes or oud. I look forward to wearing this in the fall/winter.

oxanagiel

Wow... a beautiful jammy rose. Dark and sweet, perfect for a colder night out. Sophisticated and delicious, I can't stop smelling it. It lasts long on the skin and I can still smell it on a sweater that I folded up over two months ago.

ShoGirl

"Hello, I'm Rose Absolue, and I'm gorgeous!
I'm mainly roses but I'm not a ladylike, girly or shy kind of rose: no no no!
Instead I am confident, bold and brassy and more than a little bit "extra".
While I'm not ladylike or demure I'm still a class act and smell really, really e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e.
I'm sweeter than sin and what colour of lipstick do I go best with? RED, darling. Why really, is there any other colour?"

Really lovely, syrup-y sweet rose potion of sass and confidence. Lil' bit of wood and vanilla in there but this is all about the rose. So bold, bright and well-crafted that despite being based around such a classic "girly" flower, it does not smell dated but seems relevant, daring and even a little vampy! Absolutely LOVE this one.

annasarahr121

L'Extase Rose Absolue is a gorgeous scent! Rich, luscious, jammy-sweet, it smells very similar to the original L'Extase, but that one is even sweeter (with caramel and red berry candy notes), while Rose Absolue is simply dark, candied roses. Both versions of L'Extase share a 1970's lipsticky quality (coming, I think, from the benzoin) that reminds me of the beautiful but colder candied violets note of Guerlain L'Apres L'Ondee, but Rose Absolue is definitely a "warm" rather than "cold" scent. It's sweet, warm, sumptuous, and a bit over-the-top -- almost too much in its glowing intensity and sweetness but completely addictive. I wore it on a very warm day (85 degrees fahrenheit) but I loved it; it might be de trop for weather any hotter than that, but maybe not (I like strong scents!). Additionally, it has good projection and lasting power on my skin. I have a decant of Rose Absolue, as well as a full bottle of the original L'Extase. I haven't yet compared Rose Absolue with L'Extase Rose but my bottle is in transit and I will report back. :)

mevans

Rose is the centerpiece to this one and in a very fresh and realistic way. I do get a sweetness from the vanilla but it is primarily a lovely rose scent. This is very elegant. A perfect fragrance for an evening out. Despite the pepper top notes, it doesn't come off spicy which I'm happy with. As it dries down I get more of the woody notes but the rose is always center stage. A beautifully classy fragrance. Some compare it to MFK Oud Satin Mood. For my review, I've got that sprayed on one hand and Rose Absolue on the other. There is a similarity however it is by no means a dupe. Rose Absolue feels very feminine to me. There is a woody/oudness to it but sweet rose is dominant. MFK Oud Satin Mood is clearly an oud. It feels easily unisex. Side by side, it's stronger, louder, richer and more intense and potent. I think if you want to save the money, Rose Absolue will give you that feel of wearing MFK Oud Satin Mood but if you've tried the MFK, you won't be satisfied in Rose Absolue as a more economical replacement for it.

Dzehnie

Grown up syrupy rose. Smells smooth and is more elegant than sexy on me. Good longevity and sillage. Would've been a love but there's a strong cough syrup undertone that just ruins the whole thing for me.
P.s don't buy this as a replacement for Oud Satin Mood. The difference between the two is where the magic lies in OSM. They're more step- siblings than biological siblings.

This is my first review

I got this perfume today and sprayed it on my arm at 11am. I could still smell it at 7pm before I bathed. Its gorgeous. I smell oud although its not listed. The rose( i always thought I hated rose). , smells like a Turkish delight. Omg its lovely. Its a lovely rose not an old woman dusty Rose. The woody notes and vanilla warm it up and give it a sweet scent. Would highly recommend. Its also quite sensual. My other half approves.

Birdie

The moment I smelled this I heard music, honestly and truthfully, music. I dont normally associate fragrance with music but this one caught me out and from the very first inhale I heard Vide Cor Meum. I think this is because I feel this is my perfect rose eureka moment. This fragrance is everything I wanted Roses Vanille by Mancera to be - dont get me wrong, I adore that fragrance but L'Extase Rose Absolute is just blended so much better. It has a meaningful depth to me that honestly verges on the emotional - makes me sound like a complete mad arse and with that said, very many apologies and hope you can forgive me.
This is a honeyed (without any honey being present) rose, if that makes any sense? With a darkness that I feel others have said is a little like red wine and I totally get where they're coming from and the combination is wonderful.
There is sweetness, quite a bit actually but it certainly doesnt warrant a trip to the dentist and its skillfully added so it slips in seamlessly.
I dont really get any of the pepper notes but I'm certainly not vexed by that and the patchouli is just the right amount to hold this mystical spell of rose.
I dont believe I can heap any more praise on this beauty without it sounding disingenuous - I wouldnt be able to do it any justice. But for me, that music, Vide Cor Meum, speaks far louder for this fragrance than my simplistic words ever could.

anbt

Sweet red wine and burgundy roses. I find Rose Absolue to be one of the sexiest perfumes in my collection.
It's elegant, sweet, rich. To me, the rose is intoxicating in this one, feels like a thick jam. Delicious.
The scent's profile is not necessarily unique, as the combination of rose and vanilla is quite classic. However, this scent is very well done.

Every time I wear it, it elevates my mood and makes me wish I wore a long black backless dress and heels to match it.
I avoid wearing it on a daily basis, just because I feel it fits special occasions better.
It truly makes me feel like a goddess.
It is harder to find a proper description when one has such strong feelings for something.

lzak

Lovely jammy Rose with a middle eastern flair but has no Oud. Very pleasant and sexy, without knocking you over. Very sophisticated. Was fortunate to get two bottles. Was going to return one but now I am in love, and want to keep it since it’s discontinued. There are still some bottles available if you scour the internet.
Not expensive so lasts about 4 hours. Still love it though. A Kurkdijan masterpiece.

GabrielleeeeeW

Ugh this fragrance is amazing! It's dark, rich, syrupy, mature, sexy. It's quite similar to Kayali Elixir, which I tried first, but longevity on this one is much better, it's a good performer. I think this is absolutely beautiful and I don't get any oud at all. It's balanced with some sweetness and a hint of spice. I want to smell like this all of the time. Francis Kurkdijan knows what he's doing!

lzak

Older perfume and good value. It’s a dark Rose that I find intoxicating. It’s Oud free, so not as long lasting as those that do, but lovely. A must for Rose lovers. Naturally, made by Francis Kurdijian.

emi

I don't find it similar to Oud Satin Mood by MFK at all. It lacks oud which is crucial to OSM. I bought it blindly counting on the similarity but got very dissapointed and resold it immediately. It is just jammy rose, rose with vanilla, nothing else. It lacks depth and woodiness of OSM. Plus the longevity and projection I find quite average in this fragrance.

Miasha

Oh no..! I don’t understand the hype of this at all. Another blind buy gone wrong, for me...
There is nothing dark, nothing warm, nothing sensual, nothing deep or intense, that I feel.
Just a too sharp, even sour, and cheap rose. With sugar on top, not even blending in. No vanilla whatsoever. I probably would have loved this when I was 12, since the best I can say about it, that it reminds me a bit of the Rosewater&Glycerine handcream I bought for myself with my pocketmoney, back then.

It’s a pity, since I have always loved the Nina Ricci perfumes I have tried before. To comfort my mind and my nose, I also recieved my beloved old L’air du Temps, today with the same shipping. That one makes me happy.

This one: I will keep in my box with presents, for a friend who might like it. I just had a dream of finding the perfect dark, jammy rose, like the one of an unknown cheap brand, I bought for myself when I was 19, 20 something... too bad, this was not it.

clemmy

Intoxicating underrated, strong and elegant rose. Probably the best out there, that can easily compete with niche fragrances. The nose behind is no less than Francis Kurkdjian, I said everything.
Unmissable for rose lovers. 5/5

OhTheParfum ♥

When Dark meets elegance! ... One of the best fragrances out there! this has a certain gothic feel to it... i dont see many reviewers talk about it though which makes me wonder??! then put it in the category of extremely under rated fragrances, i cant even call it a fragrance this is a proper parfum ! it represent what french parfumerie was always about, i know a lot of ppl will get what im saying and others wont but i hope im making sense ? Im man and wear this my self, i fell deeply and madly in love with this scent! the perfect sensual bed time type of frag, this is romantic, this is sensuous, this is erotic...a dangerous fragrance! im not paid to talk about it, but trust me ladies if u're a woman 30yo and up and u wear this around a man with class ull definitely have him enchanted, mesmerized! wear this right before dinner....i dont own Oud Satin Mood but i have a sample of it and god how i love that scent and planning to get it soon hopefully.. Nina Ricci L'exstase Rose Absolue is definitely close to Oud Satin Mood but they r not exactly similar, theres many differences that u can feel after a few tests... Men can get away with this, it has a certain magical chemistry with a man's skin that gets women's attention for sure, i wore it a few times and did get compliments that did put a smile on my face and made me feel so good!.... Dont blind buy this one, definitely try before u buy and when i say try, try once twice and more...overrall this is a masterpiece, Francis is a Genius !
ps: the reviews below mine are fantastic and well said, i will try to take as much time as needed before doing a review for it.

Bloomistry

A gorgeous Taif rose fragrance for grown-ups. Dark, elegant, impressive, reassuring, addictive. A candied but serious rose scent that projects for hours and has excellent longevity. Very sweet, yet also mature. A superb blend rendered by Francis Kurkdjian, the creator of Oud Satin Mood. It's a fragrance I can't wear myself (I wish I could!) but I want to smell around me, and so I've decided to buy it and give it to the women in my life. Sometimes I spray it on a piece of paper and put it on my desk, just like another man in the comments below. It's that good. Joyful and reassuring, and I can't fathom anyone not liking it. The notes are blended expertly, and although on paper they might read to some as leaning masculine (woods, pepper, musk, patchouli) L'Extase Rose Absolue evokes a night out in a stylish black dress. I'm very familiar with LUSH, and this is several notches above any rose fragrance they produce. Jammy, almost gourmand, but without ever being cloying or tiring. I hate to recommend this because supplies are limited and I want to be able to buy more when it runs out. For me this is a love.

Advaitaforever

This is the most delicious Turkish delight. The rose is phenomenal. It does draw a lot of similarity to Oud Satin Mood but it isn’t as dry, smoky and resinous as the original. It’s also slightly more synthetic and has a kind of hand lotion accord.
The fragrance smells luxurious and it’s totally worth trying. Highly recommended.

It’s feminine, very syrupy and pink. It’s also very versatile and could be worn by all women in all scenarios because it draws on the unanimous feminine sweetness in a familiar and universal depiction.

Edit: Husband said, "It smells like a really strong flower, I love it. It must be very expensive.”

I literally bought 5 bottles

Damlapolat

Realy similiar to MFK oud satin mood. However it doesn't smell oudy way. İt's beatifuel, warm, sweet and very feminine. Very good price tag. Such a good alternative for MFK oud satin mood. The only difference both of two, MFK oud satin mood has very oudy opening.

Cherry_Darling

This is incredibly gourmand to my nose. It is like satin mood, but somehow the oud in sm grounds the fragrance where as here the vanilla and sweetness is spinning out of control. It's lovely, and somehow I'm smelling violets, but you've been warned - this is gourmand and sweeet! Rose is jammy, very much so, and I'm getting Indult manakara vibes without the lychee. (A very sweet piece of turkish delight with roses and violets)

SeauxGood

My immediate impression was that this smelled like something I already had. After about 3 hours, Montale Intense Cafe came to mind. Came home from work and tested them side-by-side. They are VERY similar. I don’t know how, because this doesn’t have that hit of coffee in the opening. However, if you missed out on this one before it was discontinued, I’d say the other is a sufficient replacement. Luckily, I like rose fragrances enough that I don’t mind keeping both.

aris1223

I had super low expectations for this one . I just bought it because of the hype. Wow! This was love at first sniff ❤️. I have a few decants of MFK OSM but something in it makes it unwearable for me , love it on others just can’t stand it on me . But this is amazing , lush sweet rose . It’s so thick jammy and rich and perfect for the fall / winter months . Thanks to everyone who spoke highly of this . Glad to have this in my collection 🌹. I am not the biggest fan of rose but clearly that’s changing . I’m so happy I bought this .

tashfi70

I had a sample of it. I simply hate rose, yes I do. Synthetic Rose smells like soap. I hate soapy frags. But this is the only rose fragrance I love. Not at all soapy. At first I thought oh Too much rose for me. But idk what happened I was craving for it and coming back to this again and again. So I've bought a full bottle of it. Lasts for 12+ hours on me. Very addictive, at least I got addicted to this. On me its like so many roses are boiled with so much sugar. Yeah like a syrupy sugar! In the dry down its vanilla. And the presentation and everything is way more than the price. If it is actually discontinued, I will be proud That I have this.

Atilola

This perfume is sublime, dark and sexy perfect for date night. It is strong and lasts for around 6 hours on me and has good projection . The rose is juicy and jammy and the musk adds a certain depth to the fragrance. It cost me £40 from TKMAXX for 80ml,so if your into jammy rose fragrances for that price I would say purchase it and you will not regret it

This smells amazing, except for the medicinal benzoin. I'm not sure why Francis Kurkdjian insists on adding Benzoin to everything he makes, but it honestly ruins the appeal of a lot of his fragrances.

Cosmina07

I hate roses but in here... speechless, such an elegant and expensive scent, I had l’extase but after i tried it I gave it away, the rose from l’extase absolue is better, luxurious, darker, sultry. The bottle is really beautiful, black and gold is always a good combo and the black represents exactly the scent- mysterious, strong, deep, bold.

s801959

I simply adore it ! This was a blind buy, simply because of the fact that on some continent at leasts (like here on the American continent) it is very hard to find (except for one web site here in Canada - which received bottles last week that were made on (via the batch code) October 24th, 2016 (note: they do not have any testers of this.. (There, Nina Ricci's "Rose Absolue" is very easy to find!). They could sell it for a very hefty price due to its rarity, but they do not. A 80ml sells for $59.95 CAD (before taxes and shipping costs). It is already one of my very favorite fragrance to wear, and I got it only this morning !

Pure love, plain and simple, and it is very strong, both sillage and longevity are enormous.

I do understand why it sells so fast whenever found !

Simply divine - the mix of pink pepper, black pepper, taif rose, vanilla etc is a pure delight !!!

I had really high expectations after reading the reviews on here and watching some perfume reviewers on youtube, who described the fragrance as woody, elegant and deep.
So, as a Bulgarian, one of the notes I seem to immediately recognize in a fragrance is rose. And I don't mind it, as long as it's not the main note you smell. But this fragrance is literally all about it - it's a jammy rose with a hint of vanilla and maybe just a drop of spiciness coming from the pepper notes. Nothing complex, nothing deep, nothing really spicy or woody, it's just a rose fragrance, a quite sweet rose fragrance, which is yet another minus.
That might appeal to some, but it's really not my cup of tea. I do like rose, but it is such a common smell here where I live, that it would be really banal wearing a predominantly rose fragrance. On top of that, the longevity and projection are below average on my skin, so again, don't believe everything you read... Do not blind buy unless you are really into rose fragrances.

BrandiBlack

Stay with me here: you're in the park and it's a hot summers day - you buy a sweet fizzy drink from your local shop thinking it'll quench your thirst. It doesn't, so you fill the same bottle which once had the sweet drink in it with tap water.

The taste of the tap water with the silly hint of the previous sweet drink is what this perfume smells like.

I'm very disappointed because I had high hopes for it!

fangpili

The bottle is lovely but a very mischievous copy of Guerlain l'Instant Magic Elixir. I like this but at present it does not excite me to wear it. The main concern is that, while it is well blended, it has that too familiar, heavy sweet smell that I find somewhat commercialised rather than the natural but mature and complex skin scent I prefer. It has a rose jam overture that is soft and pleasant but needs something more earthy. However, it has excellent sillage (if you like that as I tend to prefer intimate perfumes) and it fair to say that I am very often complemented on how nice I smell when wearing this. Update: I have come to appreciate this so much more since the first review and find myself reaching for it during the cold winter days. This perfume is a grower, one you learn to love over time and then find intoxicating and start to crave it....

scentobsessed01

This made me queasy.

CRiche

It’s a nice scent very common in the Middle East but a lighter version. Funny that it’s sold out everywhere in the USA because in Dubai it’s found easily and very reasonably priced.

KrystalPower83

So this perfume is out of stock on every website and the 2 websites that show it in stock are shady...and the eBay price is more than double the normal rate....oh well, guess we'll need to just wonder what it smells like.

zirzilla

I was never interested in smelling like roses, but this perfume changed my mind. It made me fall in love with rose scent and wonder what else is out there that I have been missing. This is so pleasantly sweet, but natural/realistic smelling at the same time. I sprayed it last night before bed and could still smell it the next morning, so you're getting a pretty good value with your money. I have a sample of MFK Oud Satin Mood and they're quite similar, but Nina Ricci is easier to wear and more pleasant smelling because it doesn't have oud, and I prefer it much more over MFK.

elledeelee

A blind buy based on these amazing reviews and my obsession with rose! Given what people have said, it's pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Candy sweet rose with a hint of Calpol. Sweet juicy berry jam laced with fresh rose petals. On skin there is a touch of medicinal oud before it leans very heavily into the rose. It's certainly somewhat similar to OSM but with far less oud or powder; also similar to Armaf's Club de Nuit Intense, although a lot sweeter. But, as a rose fan, I can definitely justify owning all three!! I'm very glad to have taken a chance and added this beauty to my collection.

It's an addiction

Sugared fresh pink/red rose petals with a touch of vanilla.
This makes me think of handmade rose soaps and my grandmother (as she used to have them all over her drawers and in the bathroom, incl. rose colored towels), and of the rose water they use in (usually) Arabic pastries.
Btw: it smells very similar to the Rose Water Jelly Cleanser by The Beauty Dept.

Kanutten

This is probably the best rose perfume I've ever smelled. The notes are perfectly blended and great for anyone looking for a deep rose scent. It's sweet, but not too sweet. If you like rose as a dominant note you should check this out. It's a grown up scent, but I still think this perfume avoids to fall into the mature category. Appropriate for anyone from their early twenties to a hundred years old. Agree on the jammy rose despription and I also get a tiny red wine vibe from this, though a thousand times better. - A masterpiece! 10 out of 10.

Jabouba

It’s a beautiful scent , I blind bought because the reviews said it smells like Oud satin mood but it doesn’t smell like it even though they have some notes in common like Benzoin and vanilla

clementinegurl

I'm a big fan of MFK OSM, so I really wanted to like this one... it's nice, for sure, a sweet dark rose, but I'm getting this sour undertone that I don't love. Like fresh cut grass and earth, or something? I'm sure it would be to some people's taste, but I prefer the powdery vanilla base notes in Oud Satin Mood. I hope the drydown is softer and sweeter... otherwise this is just a solid like.

Edit: It did grow on me. The tart/green note is balanced by creaminess when it dries down. I find myself still wishing I was getting more vanilla, but this is definitely a favorite of mine and given that it's relatively inexpensive I will probably be springing for a full bottle in the future.

CRiche

I just received mine and I don’t smell heavy, jammy or dark on my skin. I don’t see the similarity to Rose Jam either. I will have to give it another try.

AmBo

Those who said this smells like Lush's Ro's Argan are correct. That's why I bought it blind, and I love it. It's deep, plummy, and mature (not old) rose. It lasts a decent amount of time, too.

Yimyim2525

I just got mine today , definitely open with sweet like candy floss sweet (as my husband describes ) and then 10 minutes in it turn to strong powdery with a hint of rose in the background and later on oh my god ! I’m fall in love with this fragrance! I love rose fragrance and you can’t get more rose than this ! Well done to the perfumer! .

Annjo

So apparently Oud Satin Mood and Oud Bouquet have a son! This smells amazing : I liked the idea of Oud Satin Mood, but couldn’t handle the strong Oud in it. This perfume took all the things I loved about Oud Satin Mood, took out the intense powdery violet and mixed it with Oud Bouquet! What a marvelous recipe 😍!!

LionsTigersBearsOhMy

This is an incredibly sexy, jammy rose; definitely more delicious in colder weather. LUSH Rose Jam's more elegant, sophisticated and intelligent cousin.

Voice-Of-God

Francis Kurkdjian has created some exceptional fragrances in his time, and I'd include this amongst them - although it seems to slip under the radar.

L'Extase Rose Absolute is very reminiscent of MFK Oud Satin Mood, though slightly less oud-y with a wee bit more rose which tips it to the feminine side of the scale for me. I have to say that I find it smells delicious on my better half. ;)

If you like this genre of fragrance then this is well worth its modest cost. Indeed, you'd be churlish to complain about value for money with this fragrance. It's well worth a punt at under £40.00.

CONCLUSION | ★★★★
It's a steal for the money. You can't go wrong here!

Lalouve<3

Oh my God, this is a sickly sweet rose bomb - heavy and 'dated' if that makes sense...it has this old fashioned vibe that is too much -definitely not a safe blind buy.

Monstrous sillage, big longevity of course...

It is also gourmand - when you first spray it you get intrigued in a positive way, but that lasts for only a few seconds and then the unbearably sweet rose comes with a vengeance and it is here to stay and it won't stop hitting you with a hammer constantly reminding you of its presence.

Seriously, if I were to choose a film character that I would imagine wearing this-it would be that obnoxious sister of Vernon in the Harry Potter movie (yes, the one that got inflated and flew in the sky -lol) - argh!

perfumeaddiction

I am just updating my review after wearing this fragrance out.
I have been wearing for about 5 hours. I went to the store with my mask on and could still smell it through my mask. It's gorgeous and absolutely outstanding. I just can’t say enough good things about it. It’s not something that you smell every day which I really enjoy. I get sick of having perfumes that smell like everything else so this is unique enough to all. Grab a bottle and try it I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Initially I went to buy it online but it seems to be sold out so I ended up finding it through another site. When I first sprayed it, I couldn’t smell anything and I thought maybe I got a fake perfume. But the next day when I sprayed it extremely smooth and very lovely fragrance. It is stand out! I don’t really know how to explain it but it definitely has rose in it but not a nauseating old lady rose. When I say old lady I am 51 so I’m no spring chicken however I always associated rose fragrances with the rose hand soap in my grandmothers bathroom. This is nothingLike that. It is very lovely in the bottle is just simply gorgeous. I think this can be worn by all ages it is not age sensitive so you could be in your 20s and wear this just perfectly. I also just got the other one in the pink bottle and that is just as lovely but very different. Very pleased with this line.

greywhale

I just got this today - blind bought - & it's not exactly what I was expecting, based on people's reviews. Much sweeter than I anticipated.

mapache

I was expecting a rosey/oudy bomb with this one..??
However, I am glad it is not !!

The taif rose/pink pepper blend in this actually makes it softer and more refined,IMO.
A good blend of the notes...just "enough".

I really like this one.

I agree with others ...low/moderate sillage/performance.

herzl_f

Wow I practically can't stop smelling my wrists after putting this on! I love Rose Jam by Lush, and this Rose Absolue kinda reminds me of it. However, this is like a mature and sophisticated yet somehow more subdued version of it. Rose Jam can be quite heady, but Rose Absolue is more easily approachable.

The only downside to this is that it does not last long on my skin. Not even an hour passes and this dries down to a skin scent for me, and it lingers for only half a day on my skin. It is nice ti put on fabric such as scarves, though.

Rozalina

This is arguably my most successful blind-buy ever.

L’Extase Rose Absolue is a dark, rich, oriental rose. I remember the first time I sprayed it, I was quite taken aback, as I was unfamiliar with the concept of a jammy rose and thought this smelled very sweet and feared it teetered on cloying. I didn’t dislike it, but I was a bit apprehensive. I gave myself some time to “work” with this fragrance and have fallen completely in love with it over the past year. It’s pretty linear, yes, but gives the wearer a mysterious and sophisticated air. The burnt Taif rose in here is so creamy, luxurious and intoxicating. It’s that burnt sweetness that surprised me at the initial spray, but I actually adore it. I get compliments whenever I wear this unique and gorgeous perfume, which smells much more expensive than the $32 I paid for it. Like the liquid inside, the bottle is heavy and elegant, no cheap plastic here.

I haven’t tried Oud Silk Mood but I can’t imagine that fragrance to be of significantly higher quality to justify the $250 difference in price, especially when L’Extase Rose Absolue lasts literally ALL day on my skin and the creator of both perfumes is the same person.

The warm benzoin makes this the perfect sexy “going out” perfume, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wear this gem to the office from time to time when I need a touch of beauty in my day.

JacquieDS

Is this similar to Calligraphy Rose?

CallMeT__

Hmm, very similar to Oud Satin Mood by MFK, only that this isn’t as Oud-y and is a sweet, jammy rose. I enjoy this version more than the original, BUT this just doesn’t perform well on my skin. I get 2 hours, and even that’s a stretch. It projects well in the first 30 minute then kind of becomes a skin scent but it could just be me. It smells expensive, rich, sexy and mysterious. It’s definitely something I would wear out on a date or on a night out with my girls. I think it’s safe enough to buy if you enjoy a sticky, thick rose or if you’re on the fence of MFK Oud Satin Mood. I just wish this fragrance performed better.

peonies and musk

90% similarity to Hanae Mori EDP, only with added pepper better sillage, and slightly more sophistication. Also very similar to Always Red by Elizabeth Arden

suzu93

Wow this is beautiful! A dark jammy rose, sweet but not cloying. It is perfect, although it reminds me a lot of OSM by Kurkdjian - Rose Absolue is much more dark and deep. Very sensual and sexy. It does lean a bit gourmand, even though it is a rose fragrance. I’m a fan of jammy sweet rose fragrances, and this is in my top 10. I have 2 80ml bottles, and believe me, I’ll be back for more. Francis Kurkdjian did an amazing job on this one!

mirrorghost

it starts with a sweet, jammy, chewy rose and vanilla, very reminiscent of lush's rose jam but not quite as strong, which is nice because i love rose jam but ended up selling it because it was just too overpowering for me. after awhile i get something else sweet but not sure what. after awhile the similarities to rose jam fade a bit, as does the scent. this is a pretty scent-a sweet candied rose.

Rbbz

I've been gravitating towards niche perfumes but this came along and renewed my faith in designer fragrances that can be found for a reasonable price in addition to the fact that it was created by the one and only Francis Kurkidjan made me want to try it ASAP and boy was I in love. This fragrance has a very good performance both in longevity and sillage a beautiful dark sensual rose that you have to try.

CrazyRussianChick

Heavens! How did I live without it? Thanks to all the YouTube ladies who spoke about it and “made” me wanna try it. It’s an instant love for me!

zahraghobari

Oh my god! This should’ve been named absolue rouge or something like that! There is a posh and luxury vibe to it. I found out about this hidden gem through fragrantica and blind bought it. My bottle arrived today and it has exceeded my expectations by faaarrrr!!! It’s so classy and luxury smelling... definitely the best rose perfume I’ve tried so far. I recently purchased miss dior le parfum as another rose rich perfume for 3 times the price of this gem but this one is just something else... on a different league and worth much much more than it’s price tag. I sprayed it on my wrist 10hrs ago and can still clearly smell it. Just wow!

Veracruz

This is nice and creamy but mature smelling. Others have reviewed it so much better than I could so I’ll just say.. I think it’s a great option for those that like the dry down of Oud Satin Mood but not the opening or powdery aspect of it.

tessiebee

Not quite what I had hoped for.

It's very sweet, not so dark or sensual. It's thicker and sweeter than LVEB en rose with none of the tart berries or champagne.

It reminds me of club de Nuit intense woman, but with more body and much less bitter sans the oud. Thick sweet jammy rose with a smoky base note which I think is the "burnt taif" rose. It's not far off burnt jam.

It's strong, I sprayed once on a piece of paper and left it at arm's length, I can still smell it from here.

Perfumeaddict777

I got so much red wine in this fragrance! It has the strongest most beautiful wine note that I've ever smelled in a perfume yet! It's a thick, sweet red wine and deep red velvety roses. The opening is so beautiful and addicting. The rose does not smell soapy or old-fashioned, it does not smell tart or sour to me. The rose smells like a fresh bouquet of roses. I love this perfume! So sexy, dark, boozy, jammy, classy, seductive. You have to love roses and sweet red wine to like this perfume. Sillage is great, longevity 12 hours at least. I sprayed this on at 5 this morning now it is 5 at night and I just got done working out and the heat of my body reactivated the scent and I can smell it all around me again. I definatly will be keeping a bottle of this in my collection.
I have une rose by FM and I like this better. Maybe it fits my personality and body chemistry better but I find that side by side une rose is not as jammy, boozy or sweet. Une rose smells very strong of taif and not as much depth compared to this.

CoffeeCup

This... is lux lingerie. Black silk camisole with a lace trim. On some curves. ;) Or a beautiful black silk night robe made of thick smooth fabric with a bit of grit. yes, Rose Absolue is thick, sexy and sensual, with a bit of a grit and body but smooth, so smooooooth... Silky and sensual on your skin. Yet deep and sweet in the air. It is dense and deep, fluffy and floaty somehow, with quite a bit of presence. Definitely luxurious and feminine. It's gorgeous!

Other things that come to mind..... pot pourri - a bit burnt, cherry cigars - fresh and delicious not ashy, rose jam - dark and sweet, Italian architecture - classic and gorgeous, the kind that leaves you in awe... Yes, all that.

And if it were a dance it would be tango. Strong and sensual.

I love it. So much!

marymag

A very successful blind buy!

To me, the perfume starts with very strong pepper and wood, but almost immediately sweetens up to a dense warm rose. The vanilla and benzoin are not too heavy or overly sweet.

A night time fragrance, in my opinion, for all seasons. It makes me think of a darker rosier version of Mancera Roses Vanille.

Also, the box is gorgeous, but the bottle is irritatingly slim.

FatFragHead

as a man who has this fragrance this is nice. I have only sprayed it once at home. it smells somewhat smoky. like a smoky cherry cigar without at times without an ash smell. This will be one that people will regret not buying when it's discontinued. Yes it's unisex.

lilacteeth

On my skin, the warm, sweet benzoin and vanilla makes this a very sweet but tempered candied rose for me. In old times, rose was a coveted candy flavor - this one is yummy in an exotic of-times-past way! I'm seeing other reviews that mention smoky or spicy notes and that is just not the case at all for me (maybe a little smokey) it's also NOT only sweet either! This is a loud in your face blast of rose syrup but there is a true peppery, red rose hidden in there that comes out from time to time and it works for me! This is bordering on gaudy - it straddles the line in that regard - bombastic, exaggerated expressions of the feminine à la the Warhol superstars Candy Darling and Holly Woodlawn. Loving it!

Edit: Big compliment getter and the bees definitely thought I was a flower a couple of times. You know a perfume is good when you're getting compliments from other who are wearing their COVID masks.

Sidenote: Probably my favorite looking bottle that I've bought in a while! Also best priced!

cocofluff

Omg! This smells similar to Oud Satin Mood, but I like the OSM better. But if you don't have the cash for OSM this is a stunning re-imagining of OSM crafted by the one and only MFK himself.

OSM is smokier than L'Extase Rose Absolue, but L'ERA is a syrupy, candy sweet rose jam with lightness to it but it's also warm and alluring. Stunning warm benzoin, Mmmm!

Overall it's lovely, feminine and affordable. If you're looking for rose jam fragrance, I highly recommend sampling this perfume.

EDIT - I'd like to add that you don't need this fragrance if you have Elie Saab Rose Essence as both were created by MKF and they actually smell similar. Saab's rose is a bit more sweet and syrupy, whereas Rose Absolue has a more prominent benzoin note which warms that fragrance (they both contain benzoin though). -

Bluebirdpsyche

Vegan vampire witch trying her darndest not to suck the life blood out of her new boyfriend. She might just actually be in love.... standing over her cauldron making a bubbling slightly burnt lush brew of spices and rose and wood sticks. Smokey sweet and deep, laced with vanilla and benzoin and longing...maybe this might quench her thirst and alleviate the hunger inside her for the night?— She is, after all, a romantic at heart....

I was feeling super emo last night.... it was another warm humid sticky rainy night... and I needed something dark and stormy. This actually bloomed beautifully in the warm humidity. — a luscious, and enveloping dark rose but not overwhelmingly so.... it was perfect for my needs. And yes this has great performance and lasts thru the night into the morning....

Bubbles1964

Love this perfume!

I bought a sample because of the reviews I read here on Fragrantica. Intrigued by the comparisons to another MFK fragrance that I love, Oud Satin Mood, I decided to do a side by side comparison.

First off, both are beautiful and more appropriate for cold weather. An hour in, I can’t detect much difference between the two scents. With my nose pressed hard, I would say Ricci’s version is sweeter, but only by a smidge. Oud Satin Mood has a better quality benzoin giving this rose a fizzier quality. A few hours in, and Oud Satin mood has a soft powder element present, Rose Absolue is more linear.

I eek out slightly better performance with Oud Satin Mood too, but both display great performance. Both are more similar than different....like siblings.

In any case, I love Rose Absolue. It’s absolutely stunning, a heavy hitting, sweet, spicy rose. It’s outstanding and the deal of the century if picked up on the grey market, 2.7 oz for $32.

I have too many perfumes, but I can’t help it. I’m buying my first Nina Ricci.

Bagoo

Blind buy because of MFK.
To mee it smells like oil version of Armani Si that I have, only deeper and more smoky. I have mixed feelings about it and don't know if I'll keep it.
However the sillage is quitre heavy (I can tell where in the room I've sprayed on myself).

Holli

Big love. A retro cosmetic scent blended with a modern, deep rose. Very blended with no loud edges or overdone sweetness. (I like overdone sweetness, but for those who don't it is still worth a try!). I feel like the grown up goth queen I like to see myself as wearing this.

rosequeen

Oh yeah. It's a huge taif rose/patchouli bomb, deep and woody and serious, just like I was hoping. It's light years away from L'Air Du Temps and Farouche and some of Ricci's questionable scents in the last 10 years. And all of it at way less than $50 on eBay. I'll get back to writing this after I'm more than 30 minutes into it.

Twelve hours later there still are traces of it. It didn't really settle down until about 8 hours into it. This is a take-no-prisoners scent. Nothing light and delicate here. It grabs you by your shoulders and shakes you for at least 6 hours. Definitely a night scent, although I'm sure I'll wear it tomorrow but just not go anywhere.

Not femmie at all either; men could wear this and be complimented by other men. It's far more patchouli-balsamic than it is rosy. Oh, and it demands to be worn in winter. You would not survive wearing this on a humid summer day.

June 19, 2022: Yep, two and a half years later...I knew I'd reviewed this right after I bought it and was still enthralled. But over time, I find I seldom wear it. It's just too much, and I really still love harsh full throttling oud patchouli whatever scents. But this one has a rough edge that smells cheap. And in the interim so many better oud bombs have appeared, to say nothing of an army of amber scents, that I find I don't reach for this one much. Maybe next winter....

Edit: April 11,2023, nope, I didn't reach for it the winter of 2022-23 either. Not once. It doesn't help that the name of it is totally illegible on the bottle. Was Nina Ricci embarrassed to admit they'd made it? I'm wondering if they made this for another perfume company, like one somewhere in the Middle East and put some in one of their own bottles to see what it would do in a larger market. I never see it in US department stores, so I don't know how widely anything Nina Ricci is sold in conventional US retail venues. Or whether this one or any of the L'Extase line is there at all.

PerfumeForLainy

Blind bought 80ml because of Francis Kurkdjian, who most certainly uses magic to make his perfumes last for days, and still I will be surprised if the bottle lives to see the spring. It is so good in the cold weather, that I have big plans for it in the upcoming months.

First on - delicious plum liquer quickly followed by a rose lipsticky kind of scent which gets uplifted by musc during the day, never staying quite the same.
It is a grown up kind of sweetness, classy, warm, wellcoming, never boring and well blended.

Safe for day wear in fall/winter, it grounds and adds seriousness.

The bottle is sleek and stylish with a vintage appeal.

vonnnie

L'Exstase Rose Absolue, Nina Ricci, is a voluptuous, juicy rose by Francis Kurkdjian. Starts out a rich, luminous, almost plummy in the posh sense, citrus tinged Taif rose with a bite of pepper. Goes deeper to patchouli, benzoin, and wood and retains that rich rose all through. No burnt caramel or creme brulee for me, and I barely notice the vanilla. It is somewhat linear, but you can hardly tell for the deep, rosy, peppery, woodsy, jammy, lush goodness. A witchy rose brew.

amarelumene

Ok, WOW!!! This fragrance is absolutely gorgeous!!! A delectable mix of vanilla, woods and spicy rose. To my nose, the vanilla and benzoin lend to an almost burnt caramel vibe and with the burnt rose, it’s like burning the sugar on creme brûlée while the smell of dark red rose petals crackle above a campfire. I know that’s a totally odd description, but that’s how I perceive it! I am very picky with rose as a note, but I am a gourmand fiend, so mixing the rose with gourmand notes makes me much more intrigued and I fall in love with this!! I blind bought this after reading through such great reviews and now that I own it, I can say that it has landed a spot in my top 5!! I will be using this faithfully throughout the fall and winter!

craftymaya

OH My goodness! Gorgeous sweet rose! What I have been looking for a while. In so many rose perfumes, some notes (like oud) are overpowering the rose. Here, the rose is dominant and is beautifully combined with pepper and light benzoin. Quiet patchouli, but enough to give to great longevity and depth. Beautiful! LOVE IT! Not too spicy not too sweet, just a good balance. And the rose stays on from start to finish, when in so many other perfumes it disappears quickly :) Deliciously gorgeous!

azorbet

Absolutely love this as a man. I have a 2ml sample and sometimes spray that on paper and put it on my desk. Extremely long lasting and very good sillage. I think it is more suitable for 25+ ladies

TillyWave

Floral Gourmand

This perfume is sweet, linear, and has a strong, thick character. I'm enjoying it very much, and it's wearing really well in the Midwestern summertime heat. Lasting power is incredible, this wears strong for over 8 hours, and the projection is good too, I can easily smell it on my person and in the air around me.

What you see is what you get, and I mostly smell a burned vanilla creme brulee over a pink peppered rose, with a hint of herbal patchouli and cedar underneath. Super sweet and thick and even the rose floral notes are red and luscious. So L'Extase is like a florists shop next to a fancy bakery. The "burnt" notes to my nose are of burned, caramelized vanilla sugar, such that the essential oils are being released instead of destroyed. They are not smoky are incensey.

This perfume is fun and easy to wear, and has great performance. It definitely leans gourmand but it has enough grounding rose and patchouli notes, and has enough weight, that it doesn't get out of control. Highly recommended!

Anamandy

After reading all the reviews on here I blind bought this fragrance. I am disappointed that it is so sweet. It smells like carmelized sugar (when you brown sugar in a pan) and stays that way for a long time. I am not smelling any rose at all. Just that super-sweet browned sugar scent. It even has a sticky feeling to me. The dry down is a little more bearable but just smells like straight up patchouli – one of my least favorite notes. This is going back.

Sherine777

I had this for a couple of month but didn't give it a full wear expect the last 2 days..

It is Beautiful!

It starts with a blast of the Spicy and Smoky Taif Rose (combined with Pepper and Patchouli), the same smell out of the nozzle, then a sweet gourmandish Vanilla and Benzoin join in and it stays that way for many hours.

It doesn't evolve much but it is superb, with a single spray I keep smelling it strong for many hours, this alone is a huge plus for me. The smell is quite dense and rich.

It's a very romantic and feminine interpretation of the Taif Rose. I prefer it to L'Extase.

florally

I bought this to help satisfy my Stella (2003) love. It's not Stella, at ALL (on me/to me, of course). But it is gorgeous. :)

It's an interesting textural scent. I almost see it as a kind of 3D structure, because there are these contrasting things happening all at once.

First off I get aggressive pepper + the 'burnt' Taif rose, which is a little smoky, a little dried rose petals. Very quickly a dark caramel comes through and takes over, which I presume is the vanilla + benzoin. This mellows to let through a dry, antique-wooden-chest style cedar, and a dusting of the burnt/dried rose.

The dark caramel and dried rose/cedar is where it settles for me, and it's a play between these two where sometimes they mingle, sometimes one dominates and I think okay, this is where it'll land. Then the other emerges again! On the whole the cedar seems to come through most strongly.

To me, it's an approachable woody-resinous rose, like the gateway drug to a whole world of Amouage, Le Labo, etc. :) Gorgeous, interesting, nostalgic.

How I feel it's different to Stella (2003): Stella is much more rose-dominant, and it's a slightly syrupy rose. Its amber doesn't go caramelly like this. The woody base notes are smoother, more blended with the amber and rose, whereas here they're peppery and dry and have that competition with the caramel.

SandyMelak

Ok
For me this started a bit like the originl Nina Ricci L'Extase ..
Deeper
Darker
Less sweet
More intense
Needs mature nose unlike the original more of girly teenage girl kind of fragrance ..
Of course
Last longer
The sillage not bad even its more rhan good but not whats expected from Absolue version
It was exoected to be bomb however its still good so dont get wrong
Just based on the notes and name I put my expectations high in the sky ...

After all
It can be rated as 7/10
Good addition to.my collecrion
But not mind blowing addtion
The test is recommended be4 buying

Is it just me who smells cotton candy here?!
The very first second I smelled it, I said: wow!! cotton candy!!
well, I don't find anything dark here, I see a teenager wearing this perfume, & I will think: yes it suits her!

this perfume is so rose potent that I realised if you want to make an intensive or absolue or extrait rose perfume you must have an intensive rose which is happened to be the "Taif Rose" it is a different hybrid species of roses, derived from the (Damask Rose family). they are a bit similar to each other but Taif Rose is harsher, darker and more potent.
ps: Taif rose extract or attar is so expensive that a 50 ml oil perfume costs 1000 to 1500 us dollars

Starts off with the sweet and tender taif rose, in the opening it reminds me a little of Si EDT but then it changes.
It starts smelling a little fizzy as musk and pepper combine.
This is not a heavy oriental, but a sweet musky rose.
I think this is the most romantic fragrance i have ever smelt.

I emailed Nina Ricci and they have not got a release date for this yet. I am unsure what people are testing or how they know it 'reminds them of' Roses Musk or L'extase.

I will edit this to a detailed review as soon as I try it on my skin.what I write now is based on a paper blotter test without being able to give it Tims more than half an hour
I love Original l'extase.I also like it's lighter flanker though I don't have it yet,so I had to try l'extase rose absolue the first day it hit the shelves(early in this week)
When SA first sprayed it my friend said immediately:oh,this is very heavy!I was thinking that it's completely a winter, night perfume so testing it in such a hot spring noon didn't look like a good idea.my experience with Elie Saab nuit noor made me worried about new flankers of my beloved perfumes colored in black,I thought l'extase rose absolue is going to be something similar to Elie Saab nuit noir:a heavy, almost Arabic Oriental, very high quality, unique and strong but not my type at all.it was all true about Nina ricci's new member too except the last part:I like this one!
Warm, dark, mysterious, memorable and seductive was what came to my mind while smelling rose absolue.a hybrid of east's rosey orientals and west's gourmands,of course it inherits more from it's eastern parent but there's enough sweetness to make it appealing to modern generation too.however it's not as sweet as original l'extase.
it's a very well blended combo of peppery rose, patchouli, dark woody notes, musk and something fruity rounded by benzoin and vanilla.musk and vanilla were not as strong as what I thought.it has a balmy, powdery texture which I like.a grown up and serious.it seems to be a sillage monster, just one spray filled the store.I'd like to have it for this fall and winter
Edit:
Tried it today again
I can see l'extase gene in it but it also reminds me armani si intense,as if there's a dark, syrupy, fruity thing in it,like black current

I loved L'Extase, but I hope to find this somehow, as I have failed to find the previous flanker L'Extase Caresse de Roses anyway, except for a few bottles on eBay.

Sound yummy....but wait - where is the rose????

COULD THIS SIGNAL A RETURN TO popularising florientals a la day of yore? I very much hope so.... I'm looking for ab easily accessible heady floriental with having to scour eBay for vintage perfumes or numerous layering....

Has it been released yet, anyone in UK know?
