Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile by Acqua di Parma is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile was launched in 2006. Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile was created by Francoise Caron and Francis Kurkdjian. Top notes are Iris, Star Anise, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange and Orange; middle notes are Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Mimosa, Ylang-Ylang, Hibiscus and Cedar; base notes are Vanilla and Amber.

Aqua di Parma, experienced in production of chic fragrances very popular in high society, has denoted its renaissance with, among other things, eau de toilette Iris Nobile. The new EDT has perfectly fit into the company of renowned fragrances such as Aqua di Parma Colonia (1916) and Profumo (1930), with relaunch of which Aqua di Parma has entered the new millennium and turned over a new sheet in its history.

Iris Nobile was created in 2004 by reputable master perfumers – Francoise Caron and Francis Kurkdjian. It was first created as eau de toilette. Classically elegant and feminine delicate floral fragrance is opposing the briskly-aromatic Italian style of the house; however, its moderate rhythm reveals the ambitions of beautiful floral fragrances of the past century.

Iris Nobile opens with luminous fresh citrusy notes of orange, mandarin and bergamot, followed by anise. The beauty of the iris flower is accentuated by the whole floral chorus of orange blossom, ylang-ylang, tuberose, mimosa and woodsy cedar nuance in the heart, among which the orange blossom is the most persistent companion. The floral bouquet only accompanies, and not at all overlays the beautiful iris solo – delicate-retro-romantic, with a trace of aery powder.

Eau de Parfum Iris Nobile was created in 2006. Besides the general resemblance, the fragrance has become deeper and more intensive, a bit darker and slightly sweeter. The citruses, so dominant in the original, have now been given a marginal role – the focus is on iris, and it has become more accentuated. Besides amber and vanilla, the base now includes oakmoss and patchouli that bring in a dramatic chypre note. EDT was launched as a summer fragrance, while EDP makes a great match to fur.

I have a tiny amount of this perfume I love to smell and everytime I wonder WHY Acqua Di Parma deemed it necessary to discontinue it. Such a beautifully classy iris scent with a satisfying dry down.

If I could choose one discontinued scent to ever come back, I would pick Iris Nobile without a doubt.

Enrium

In my quest to find a iris scent to rival Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist, I have collected many samples of promising perfumes. I have been impressed with the other Acqua di Parma Nobiles. However, unlike its Rosa or Peonia counterparts, Iris Nobile curiously isn't an iris-dominant scent. It is a good-quality white/yellow floral bouquet, but not what I'm looking for.

IN opens with bright orange notes, juicy and fresh, almost like a reference to Acqua di Parma's signature Colonia. This segues seamlessly to a sweet, orange blossom note, paving the way to the tropical white floral heart. Sweet tuberose adds body, but tropical ylang ylang is dominant to my nose.

Mimosa follows as it develops, powdery and shimmering, rounding out the tropical, creamy floral heart beautifully and adding interest.

Vanilla keeps things sweet and creamy as it dries down, alongside soft woodiness. The florals remain, tropical and creamy throughout. There is no iris to speak of - any powder is due to the mimosa. It fades to a powdery vanilla skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

A feminine spring/summer tropical white floral, IN would be a nice example of that genre if it didn't purport to be an iris scent. Decent, but disappointing for this reason. Ylang Nobile. 3/5.

I adore the Rose, Magnolia & Peonia Nobiles. But this Iris is not for me. Message me for purchase of full 50ml bottle obtained years ago at a fragrance event in Milan & carefully stored in cool, dark fragrance armoire.

Sampled as I was curious how this brand would do a 'lady' perfume.

There is tiny hint of volatile citrus cologne in the opening which is probably the bit I liked the most!

As we often read, the iris has no scent in nature but perfumers have reached a consensus that it can be represented in perfume a certain way - which I think I am coming to recognise is too dry and powdery a floral scent for me, like an old-fashioned makeup scent. Then again, this also has notes of star anise and ylang-ylang (which I find anise-y) listed, and I'm a licorice hater, so maybe that's what I didn't like.

It's pretty light for modern mid-to-high-price women's perfume. I reckon people who like lighter scents, powdery florals and makeup-y scents should give it a go.

If anyone is interested i have a!n almost full bottle of 100ml for sale ! Write me a message ;)

sandradiana

This is so good.
Gives this comforting feeling whenever I wear it.
Keeps me fresh all day but feminine and classy.
Don't get many compliments when I wear it but as I said the comfort it gives me its better than any compliment.
I usually wear it in the spring but sometimes I look for it in other seasons.
It's one of those ultra feminine clean perfumes.

Vonette

I'm sorry but this is terrible. I have yet to find a perfume created by FK that I like. They all smell generic and synthetic to me. I don't smell any Iris or hardly any of the other listed notes. I had my husband smell it and he said it smells like Burdines. For those don't know that's an old defunct department store that went out of business in the early 2000s.

LibraryofPerfumes

I have a full bottle for purchase on MerXXri platform. If not, you can message me on Fragrantica.

I love this house, Acqua di Parma and I wore Magnolia Nobile for what seems like forever. I decided to give Iris Nobile a try and overall, I really like this EdP.

As others have noted, Iris Nobile is an iris fragrance but certainly not a soliflore. Shortly after the very intense ANISE and (signature) citrusy orange AdP opening, this perfume morphs into a lovely display of soft white florals. Iris is present but so tuberose, orange blossom, yling-ylang and other ethereal sweet florals are also evident. Yet Iris Nobile is not translucent or sheer in any way. This EdP is a rather hefty, creamy, dense spicy-floral fragrance that lands with ambrette, musk and a wee-bit of amber.

To my nose, Magnolia Nobile is feminine floral all the way. I detect spicy floral, some resin, a bit of cedar but not much more. And unlike what others have noted, I do not get a ton of vanilla in the dry down.

Similar to Magnolia Nobile, the silage with Iris Nobile is moderate and longevity is long, say 6+ hours on my skin.

Not sure yet about this one. I ADORE Magnolia Nobile but after a spell, I moved away from feminine floral and into oud, wood, resin, incense-y, sorta churchy fragrances. Now I feel like I need more of a balance because the latter mentioned tend to lean way too masculine for my current taste & lifestyle.

This is a lovely floral fragrance, which I understand is out-of-production. If you can grab a full bottle before there are none to be had and you love Italian leaning citrus floral fragrances, go ahead and give Iris Nobile a try!

drugstore classics

Oh my. I never expected a perfume based on Iris to be this rich, animalic, and amazing. It is a mature scent, a mysterious scent, a classic style of scent that reminds me of glamorous magazines with perfume samples from the 80's. (I don't know if they smelled like this freshly, but the copies I found years later certainly did!) The notes here did not prepare me for the depth of this perfume - darker than name, bottle, or notes could imply. Discontinued, alas, but I can certainly enjoy my sample as long as it lasts! :D

LSAUG

Boy, I'm not really digging this brand. 1 like so far. Iris Nobile really, really reminds me of Parfums Gres Lumiere Blanche. A perfume that I just grew to hate. At first just like this perfume Iris Nobile, I thought it was a "meh" take it or leave it but the more I smelled both of these perfumes a sickly feeling comes over me. Almost like the smell of death but a death that has been bleached by the sun or weathered w/ time or covered up by flowers and air freshener of a funeral home. I do not want to describe what this really smells like to me, but it is an upsetting memory that I would not like to relive. But it is a memory of death. This perfume is making me very sad. It is a visceral and emotional reaction for me. I am sorry.

Edit: 1/23/23 Trying to give some of these perfumes I hated so much another shot but this is still a no way for me. It reminds me of Guerlain's Jardins Bag (can't remember the whole name) It is in the bee bottle w/ a green label. But this one is worse. Like the Guerlain and the Lumiere Blanche had a baby. Both of those perfumes smelled like rot to me and so does this.

canabena

Got this from my mom, and this is a mature fragrance for sure, I can see why an older woman would enjoy this scent, just not for me I prefer sweet and girly scents.

wandering in barcelona

From my blind buy of ~40 miniatures, this was the first one I chose to open and sample. What a beautiful masterpiece. But it’s discontinued? Alas. I’ll treasure this little mini bottle.
My wrists are deliciously enchanting.

churinl

Why, AdP? Why????? 🥺😢😭

AMMILLER

I wonder if I got a bad batch :( I don't get any of the notes listed really. I'm a lover of powdery iris fragrances, unfortunately there must be something in this that just doesn't blend with my body chemistry or something. It's not a scrubber, but it's close.

It opened with the smell of sharp lime (which wasn't in the notes) and something faintly smelling of rubber. The rubber smell began to intensify after the "citrus" died away. After half an hour it is beginning to settle into a familiar iris (Ala Prada infusions d' iris) the dry down is nice enough but I still get faint whiffs of rubber. There are hints of ylang ylang and the pith of an orange.

Romanetta

I love Acqua Di Parma Iris Nobile and have always felt unique in it. On a recent meeting with a friend, I was very surprised that she, too, was using it, but no, it wasn't Acqua Di Parma Iris Nobile, it was "just" Burberry London! ADPIN is dry at the beginning, iris fragrance, while BL is sweeter and fuller right from the start. I also think - or at least they don't have it in the composition - it doesn't contain an iris. And yet - the two scents are very similar after a while! In addition, BL is a real holder and ADPIN is a very elusive fragrance. ;-)

madonnatella

at the site of Acqua di Parma all Iris Pallida and Fiorentina 'colonias' are disappeared.....

madonnatella

it seems now a time all the Iruses perfumes within the assortment of Acqua di Parma are disappearing.
perhaps the 'stock' of this expensive raw material is waning..... and maybe in time they come again with their fabulous Fiorentina perfumes.

Domina1

I bought AdP cologne for my husband and we both liked it so much so I decided to treat myself and I chose Iris Nobile after long consideration.
Well, It is well done indeed but I am disappointed (( it is quite green at the beginning and in middle I smell something that can be tuberose or other white flowers. I wish I bought Iris from Prada((
Iris Nobile is a complex and well rounded fragrance but it makes me feel very formal and older. If I go to the formal party or interview, I would probably wear it. I can’t imagine who can have sex wearing this. I wish I could return it. Such a waste.

evarosa

I am reviewing the EdT that came before the longer running EdP, and I find it very much superior. There is nothing creamy or soft about the EdT, it is just sweet fresh and sharp. The fragrance is not limited to iris; orange blossom, anise, bergamot are equal players in the composition.

Iris Nobile I find to be very chic, charming, but also haughty and demanding. A cafe with a marbletop table with a cup of fragrant Earl Grey tea on a rainy day in spring would be the picture that it paints for me.

I can not wear it because it gives me a headache every time but I still consider it one of the most beautiful and evocative fragrances in my collection.

fanonlamb

Loved the opening and middle; disliked the musky vanilla drydown. Reminded me of the base of Eaudemoiselle, and I only need one of those. Blind bought due to the horrors of discontinuation and Bois de Jasmin. I wanted an iris soliflore, but this definitely doesn't remind me of the beautiful perfume that breeds late spring/ early summer from the irises on my property. Leaning towards more L'attesa for the soliflore my heart needs.

Jacobean Lily

Absolutely exquisite.
I've been entranced with this for 2 days and nights and I still can't move on to any other perfume.
It's an elegant marvel and a wonder; I have nothing like it in my 300+ perfume collection.
Iris is the powdery, gleaming Diva in a symphony of moss-infused anise, white florals, peach-infused cumin (not in the notes here, but seen in the perfumer's notes) ambrette and vanilla.
The perfumer describes it well: "The floral bouquet only accompanies, and not at all overlays the beautiful iris solo – delicate-retro-romantic, with a trace of aery powder."
Discontinued (mine's a lucky ebay find) and well worth blind buying if you enjoy Iris; this is the most magnificent Iris-centric perfume I've encountered.

Please bear with me, as I know I've previously reviewed this and noted my heartbreak over its demise, but I just sprayed myself lavishly as my sleep scent. I want to cry, but I'm too angry to do so.
Why, Acqua di Parma? WHY????? Iris Nobile is the crown jewel of the Nobile collection, and I have all of them. It's the first and the best in my opinion. I understand that fragrance is a completely subjective experience and that its likability to any individual is based upon many factors, but it's really hard for me to fathom how anyone could find this objectionable. It may not be your cup of tea, but it's just formulated and blended so wonderfully that it at least deserves recognition based upon that alone. It's unique among my collection of various iris fragrances, and I really love how the Mediterranean vibe associated with the brand works here.
The iris is sublime - not too powdery, not to rooty or carroty, not to flat and reminiscent of paper, just my perfect style of iris. The fact that the tuberose in no way overpowers the iris and instead just lends some sweetness is amazing to me. I love tuberose and white florals, but would never categorize this as a white floral fragrance.
I just don't understand. I suppose it comes down to what sells and what doesn't, but I do consider this to be somewhat of a masterpiece, and you just don't (or shouldn't) stop making a masterpiece based upon profitability alone.
I know it's useless to beg them to reconsider, but a woman can wish. I plan on purchasing a backup bottle next month and another the following month. Thanks for hearing me out! I just couldn't let this slip on by without expressing how much it means to me, how much I love it, and how much I will miss it once it's gone.

grpringle

Has this been discontinued? You can't find it anywhere in the UK and before lockdowns it wasn't in the shops. Just wondering...

churinl

Love this and I've previously reviewed, but wanted to note that I deliberately chose to wear this as my "Welcome to Spring" floral scent today! Sort of like spring cleaning and a new state of mind!! Welcome back, my floral friends!

EDIT - OMG Lemonbuns! I had to check and you're correct! It's no longer available, at least in the US! Looks like Gelsomino went bye bye too!! The only ones left are Magnolia (thank god!), Peonia and Rosa. I have all of them and Rosa and Peonia are only meh for me. I need back up bottles immediately. How COULD they??!! This was my entry into the beauty of iris!!! I am heartbroken!!!!

Asoss

I sprayed myself with this, it is November, cold, foggy, Dark outside...But on my
skin....OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG ....it is mimosa blooming, it is spring.....I should have never used this GEORGEOUS perfumes in warm weather....OMG what a change...

jero

years ago I sprayed this to think it's iris, iris clean or powdery, and disliked for it was abundant and overbearing. these days after some daffodil fragrances I gave Iris Nobile another try, OH My... this is beautiful narcissus nectar in my closet's storage for ages to be like a first rated wine. enjoyed<3

Mizmalibu

This is so stunning! Beautiful, powdery, luxurious, feminine, Italian. So sad it is discontinued!

Exenidi

Gorgeous, classy (not in an old fashioned way but high standards way). Imagine you are travelling to Tuscany and staying in a 5 *hotel, you enter the suite and open the window to look out into the orchard garden, you getting whiffs of unforgettable orange blossom and wet flowers, just after the rain, while a regal heavy curtain is caressing your cheek, you look at the antique tapestry on the walls; the room is freshly made and you feel the hotel exclusive cosmetic soap scent reaching you from the en-suite. You feel welcome, enchanted and in Italy, ready for a wonderful holiday to begin.
I had a FB back in 2006 and remember getting compliments from colleagues and a London cab driver:-) (they know perfume I swear). I felt an urge recently to repurchase it, this soft floral elegance in a bottle, and my picky with fragrances hubby commented how good I smelled.
If you love and own Chanel Allure, Dior Addict , this is your territory and a must try.

anna-fie

I blind bought this.
I am so reliefed that I actually like it. I was afraid that it would be to strong and heavy (the fluid in my bottle is very dark orange)
Iris is not my favourite note. But this one I like.
Smells like something I would choose to wear if I was going to visit the Queen 👑

chrystelsinclair

I got this as a present from my husband who fell in love with it.

Very floral from the get-go. Strong and energizing at first and immediately calms to a musky, calm and powdery scent. Absolutely beautiful and spot-on! I think it might be too floral for some women but I love it!

It's bold and elegant but not loud. It definitely gets a lot of attention, this is a scent for working women who want to rule the world.

I absolutely love the dry down. You can clearly smell the iris and it's not as powdery as the beginning. I also smell a touch of vanilla which is just gorgeous! I usually wear this for important meeting or...just whenever I feel like it, really.

Now, this perfume is on the expensive side. But you get what you pay for. Moderate sillage and long-lasting. Absolutely one of the best iris perfumes I have encountered.

I feel sad that it's discontinued, I almost finished my bottle and I want more!

churinl

Oh happy day! My 3.4 oz bottle of Iris Nobile arrived today (along with a bottle of L'Artisan L'Eau d'Ambre, but that's a whole other story!). I just lavishly sprayed it on and it is even more beautiful than I remember. Off the bat, it is bright, citrusy anise. The citrus recedes but the anise hovers in the background, providing a type of spicy licorice that complements the beautiful iris. I get more orange blossom than tuberose right now, but I still detect a tiny amount. I know this will change with the weather, but even today, a mild winter day where I am indoors, it is magical. The quality is outstanding and something I am accustom to with Acqua di Parma - I already have both Magnolia and Gelsomino Nobile, and my husband had a cologne. I have been looking for an iris for a while now, and completely forgot about this one! Now it's home where it belongs. I already know that I am going to be turning to this quite a lot over the next several months! J'adore!

Sadly discontinued

MediaevalWench66

I have the 50ml EDP.

If I had to wear one scent for the rest of my life, this would be it. (Sorry D&G Sicily)

Its gorgeous! A real classic scent, very feminine, and reminds me strongly of something my mother had on her dressing table. I get the reference to the smell of 1950's/1960's lipsticks.

I was suprised to see that the EDP was released in 2006, as it has the quality and "air" of a classic vintage scent.

anilinam

I live in a city called the City of Eternal Spring, so I get a lot of wear out of this fragrance.

I applied this on my neck and wrists approximately 10 days ago. Today I decided to wear the same silk scarf I wore that day. It is still perfectly scented.

Wonderful and longevous. Acqua di Parma's rendition of sparkling citrus, vanillic Iris is a perennial in my collection. This scent deserves to be called a classic. I am never without a bottle. I LOVE it!

perfume_infatuated

A delicate, feminine, sweet floral perfume that smells natural, polite, tender, and classic all at the same time. This smell is nostalgic, and could be a good interpretation of spring and motherhood warmth, in one shot.

I claim this is a good choice for delicate mothers, for its floral-creamy-powdery quality. Nonetheless, this is also elegant and classy for daily wear (with chic and dressy outfits), but not for the office, and also not for special evening occasions. Performance is probably the best for an Aqua di Parma.

I expected this one to be extensively powdery--seeing the powdery bar to be the longest, but in reality it's not. To my nose, the most prominent floral note in this multi-floral bouquet is orange blossom.

Tamsos valdove

I hate powder perfumes. But this one I can tolerate.
At first I bought Gelsomino Nobile and returned to buy Iris Nobile the same day. Just could not resist. Very feminine and classy perfume. I think it's great for colder spring/fall days.

bibibling

So I'm here because my beloved Tom Ford Violet Blonde (a stunning iris fragrance, despite the name) is nearing its end and I've been looking for a replacement iris. From what I've read, AdP - Iris Nobile has a great reputation so I decided to give it a try.

I have in my hands a bottle of the EDP and in the sticker in the back, it lists the notes like this:

FRAGRANCE FAMILY: Floral Cyphre

TOP NOTE: Bergamot, Mandarin, Star Anis, Orange Flower

HEART NOTE: Iris Pallida, Ylang Ylang, Peach, Cumin

BASE NOTE: Vanilla, Patchouli, Ambrette Crystals, Oakmoss.

Star Anis, Iris Pallida, and Vanilla are bolded, so I'm assuming that implies that those are supposed to be the most noticeable notes.

I wish Fragrantica had a separate listing for the EDP and EDT because the notes are so different. At the time I was buying this, I didn't realize there were two different formulations and sniffing the EDP on my hand while and looking at the EDT's note pyramid on my phone left me a bit confused. What I'm smelling is an Iris floral to be sure, but I was not getting any tuberose... maybe possibly some mimosa... There's a listing for a 2008 special edition EDP but those notes are different as well so I believe this page is the best place for my review.

So I'll say outright, this is no Violet Blonde. It's citrusy like Prada Infusion d'Iris EDP but MUUUCH warmer, sunnier and more floral. Someone described this as an orange colored iris and I 100% agree. When I smell my hand (4 sprays on hands and wrists right now) I get a honeyed Iris + Ylang + Peach + Vanilla + and orange creamsicle like notes with hints of warm spices, anise and oakmoss. It's bright, warm, full bodied, rich, smells expensive. Definitely a fall/winter cold weather scent. It's a very nice floral-fruity iris blend. Not what I was looking for but one that I did end up buying.

I'd definitely recommend smelling both EDP and EDT before buying one, I still haven't smelled the EDT yet but from what I've read, it's supposed to be more summery.

The hunt for Violet Blonde's successor continues...

zesty_calco

White florals, iris, some powder; the Acqua di Parma citrus is detectable in the background. To my nose white florals dominate with iris taking a back seat. Tuberose and orange blossom seem correct. Smells fancy and old world. Norma Desmond from Sunset Boulevard fancy. The notes are high quality and pretty natural smelling.

This is a feminine scent with a definite 0ld lady vibe. A fall and spring perfume that probably won't offend at work. It's slightly stuffy, formal, not super sexy. Average performance for about four hours before becoming soft. Iris Nobile is nice but it's not for me. It's a little too feminine for my tastes; a little too stuffy; the white florals a little too screechy. The right lady will rock the hell of this. Reasonably priced at online discounters but I expected a little more longevity. Even though I'm a dude after smelling this the other Nobiles have piqued my interest. Check this one out!

magic_amira

I had it and was the best perfume i could ever find.
unfortunatly i cannot find it in the country i am living in,Egypt.
Even if i would find it ,the price will be very high to afford it .

mysticaldeath

. WOW. Only 10 or 12 years later does it finally occur to me exactly what it is that feels so uncannilly familiar about this: the ylang ylang. When I recalled the original Alfred Sung and how it reminded me of honeybees! Neroli, orange blossom, pettgrain, anise. Unusual for an iris fragrance in that it’s anisic root beer like quality recalls the flowers themselves rather than the root which is the typical fragrance component used in iris based scents. floral but also somehow subtly morphs into a clean masculine non powdery barbershop skin scent. Perfect in every way. I bought and wear the large EDT but the EDP is even more luxurious. This gold standard for every male floral. This is what I fantasize l’Abeiile de Guerlain would be all about

Annabear

It’s a gorgeous floral with medium sillage but surprisingly long lasting if you don’t mind pressing your nose to your sprayed arm throughout the day. The iris is so discreet as to be imperceptible. They really ought to have called this Jasmine Nobile. This isn’t a complaint because it’s a very pretty fragrance, it’s just my observation.

shusha

This smelled on me exactly like a red vintage lipstick, sweet and slightly on the synthetic side. It is well blended and is not bad per se. I think it is suitable for a certain personal style, perhaps a bit mature. Sillage is prominent for the first 2h, then it becomes lighter, less concentrated. Sadly it doesn't suit me but I think my mom would like it. Do try before you buy.

YYY_Delilah

@Cauda Pavonis
Exactly the thought I had in mind at the instant I caught sight of your review is that this is more tuberose than iris.

Whatever! let it be more tuberose than iris then. I certainly know that it gave me a full day of solid perfumey goodness yesterday. You know - you keep catching whiffs of it; and in the brief window of opportunity before the idea that you are assessing your own perfume has had time to fully 'crystallise' you catch yourself saying "[insert deity name] ... that's seriously good stuff!". And then you know that it truly is!

lotus and jasmine

I rediscovered this one recently, and purchased more. For me, Iris Nobile opens with a sharp green note, that quickly warms as the creamy orris root of the iris note opens. Some tuberose, slight touch of rose, lime peel and spice- the notes say cardamom, but it's more subtle than that on my skin, just a sharp intriguing edge underlying the warmth of the opening notes. And again, the notes say bergamot, but it's very lime to my nose in the opening! Over time, the orris stays in the forefront, and the cedar comes forward, with a touch of vanilla. The spice stays all day.

This is not a sweet scent, despite what some of the notes might promise. It's very warm, earthy, creamy, with a bit of an edge. Long lasting, usually good with one spray for the day, 12 hours later is a skin scent. I see a lot of other people report a powdery effect, but for me this is a deep, smooth, rich, buttery, orris extravaganza.

I had forgotten how much I loved this. Despite the fruit notes indicated above, I really get the wood, and orris. The creamy warmth of this scent brings lots of compliments and questions about what kind of lotion I use- people are surprised to hear that it is a perfume. The scent is deeper and somewhat darker than most perfumes, with a richness that I have not found in other scents. I know, I keep using that word, but it fits! This is currently my signature for the fall, as we are experiencing a very cold rainy season in Minnesota, and this scent has that comforting, almost nostalgic tone to it, that warms the heart and eases dreary days.

IN is expensive as a FB, but the EDP (which I strongly recommend, purple cap on the sample vials) is available for as little as $4 per vial on the bay. Worth trying, I promise. And a little goes a long way, start with one spray. The scent will strengthen as it evolves, so give it 20 minutes before deciding to add a second spray. My skin eats scent, but this one has oomph, fair warning!

dsty

I've had my sample of Iris Nobile for years; I remember liking it at first sniff when I got it, but thinking that I'd need a lot more experience to have anything significant to say about it. And even now, with my perfume vocabulary duly extended, I find it hard to put my impression of this one into words. So I'll just say that it's very good, and that the name is just right: noble really is the word for this refined, elegant, calm, subtle, but also very comfortable scent.

Actually, I get neither iris nor any of the other floral notes specifically - this is one well blended perfume, very cohesive. It makes for a wonderfully soft, subtly sweet and powdery bouquet, a little creamy at first and underpinned by a nicely subdued vanilla. Very clean in a cosy sort of way - one of those I could easily imagine as a signature, because it would work in so many settings without either getting old to myself or offending anyone around me. The only thing I'd change about it is the projection: I wish it were a little stronger. But that might just be the effect of keeping a sample around for several years, especially since so many reviews mention the exact opposite for the EDP version that I have, so I'll reserve judgement on that until I have a larger amount, i.e. as soon as I can get my hands on a little decant.

Violinplayah

A true purple iris. Very lovely.

Cauda Pavonis

Big, sensual floral. Surprisingly strong for Acqua di Parma. I'm not really getting any iris; this is more of a big, rich, slightly oily white floral. It's much more of a tuberose bomb with some neroli than an iris fragrance. It's AdP so it's good quality but I can't help feeling like this smells like one of my cheapies (can't remember which off hand). Nice in a sultry, full bloomed way but undistinguished. Sexy but somewhat blowsy.

Edit: I know what it smells like: Beautiful by Estee Lauder. I personally feel that Beautiful is the better fragrance though - it's slightly greener, and has more depth and complexity.

Bubbles1964

I've been wearing the EDP version on and off over the past couple of weeks and I find that I'm having a difficult time sorting out my feelings on Iris Nobile. It feels like retro 80s chic, with too much powder for summer heat. I can't even tell if it's iris I'm smelling.

Glad I only bought a decant, but I am interested in taking the EDT out for a test drive.

lgsoltek

Smells very lovely, but that's not iris.

BellaX

I'm going to stick my head out here... On my skin all I can smell is tuberose!
Iris is a beautiful scent but here it just gets overpowered and completely wrestled down to the ground by a sickly, suffocating tuberose! Sorry but I am not a fan of this, for those who like a strong white floral (in this case tuberose) this is probably great.

mariliagmoraes

Ordered the EDT and EDP samples, just got the EDP. Sprayed, and that feeling, i know this smell, but from where? Took a while to figure, but on my skin, the EDP smells a lot like Cacharel´s Eden. And Eden doesnt even have iris on it !
Anyway, its a nice smell, but really strong. Will wait the EDT sample because, well, i had Eden once at 90´s, dont want a revival :)

Something went wrong the last time I reviewed this beauty as I found it boring then. Apparently that was a shallow testing. Now, I find it extremely beautiful and far from boring. I pick up the tuberose that I love, the powdery iris of course, and the citrus notes which brings a beautiful zing to this fragrance. If the iris is the true star of this fragrance, the star anise is the dark matter which everything gravitate towards. Without it it would have been just nice. But because of it I find it truly addictive. It's on my want list.

mirenaf

Wonderful powdery iris aroma. True perfection. Its durability is very good. The packaging of all the perfumes of the brand is one of the main merits - it can be used for decoration and looks great. I think it's absolutely worth every penny, because what the brand offers is a real perfume experience. The ingredients in the perfumes are quality and this is evident from the whole feeling you get when you bring their product. In this case, I was absolutely stunned when I smelled the perfume for the first time. I had to have it. I've been thinking for two days until I finally went back to the store and bought a big bottle.

If you like Guerlain, particularly Mitsouko, then Iris Nobile will find favour. I tried the EDT while travelling some years ago and loved the dry down. When I purchased I opted for the EDP and wish I hadn't; it's a little too big for me, 80s powerhouse and all that. Iris Nobile is really more orange blossom up front and the Iris is a misnomer is you like vegetal Iris (like Hiris) Having said that the perfume, the total effect, just oozes expensive, it's 'spendy' and splendid and opulent, a touch of Amarige in there, I guess that's the tuberose. I can't wear the EDP around my neck either, guess that's also the tuberose talking, but she's definitely a Riviera perfume. Let's pretend we're swanning around Monaco, not frazzled on the motorway.

Iris Iris Iris... Nothing special!

Miffy8900

Usually I'm not a big iris fan, as I often find it to be suffocating and too heavy and headache inducing. Stumbled over this by accident, tried it on, and fell instantly in love - and ran out and bought it the day after!

Of course iris is the big star of the fragrance (as the name suggest), but tuberose (which I love love love) also play a huge role, as well as a balmy almost wax-like neroli and orange flowers. There is a big fat anise in the mix as well, which personally I'm not a fan of, as I think its licorice-y quality often overrule all other notes. But in Iris Nobile, it is somehow a tame, controlled anise, even though it is massive and huge one.

Iris Nobile hits you with a massive blast at first (spray with caution - a little goes a long way with this baby!) but within half an hour it dries down to this smooth, elegant, feminine, divine balm. Iris continues to be the leading role, but tuberose and mimosa and vanilla peeks out more and more as time goes by, and end up being the most dominant notes, especially vanilla, after some hours. It lingers on the skin as a beautiful, creamy, elegant veil of exotic discrete spices, and white flowers. It reminds me somehow of gardens and markets of the Middle East. One of my best friends always mention how exotic and wonderful I smell when I wear this.

Beautiful, a masterpiece. Bottle match the scent perfect; elegant, timeless, chic, exclusive. Projection is massive - you only need 2 sprays to be fully covered. Last for ages - my jacket sleeve got a spray by accident, and I can still easily smell it several days later.

Highly recommend this wonderful fragrance to pretty much all women :)

I have reviewed this fragrance before, but this comes as a new impression after I experienced more of drinking wine and appreciating all the scents around me.
Initially this fragrance was cutting sharp in a subdued way to me. Now I realize that even if a own and use EDP I think I am experiencing the original EDT.
I sense a yellow lemon at the start, with a type of a sparkling white wine. The wine later looses its sparkle and becomes reminiscent of a freshly opened new cotton cloth, like a fine-machined cotton blouse made in a factory, packaged in a see-through plastic bag and sent to the chain of department stores like KAUFLAND from where I bought a night gown.
Then the fragrance continues in the same note without much change, at least to my sensing, which I like.
I find no powdery notes, not much iris in its bulb smelling form, but there is a bulb of a flower at the texture of the overall volume.
This fragrance relaxes me now, bringing predictability and clean comfort.

I had noticed over time that just like with drinking wine, tea, coffee and water, we bring to the original fragrances types of nuances we carry from our experience of life. That is how people who love chocolate, apples or fruits in general, use spices in their food with deliberation and knowledge, sometimes find those loved nuances in the smells of a wine. With fragrances, as synthetic or natural as they might be, I experience a similar appearance of my perception. But this fragrance somehow comes to me as if I experience it from a fixed point of view, without much change, rather a development based on my meditation through life.

ScarlettX

It is a strong floral scent, I guess, I could wear only a little bit of it.
Iris, mimosa, tuberose and ylang-ylang mostly.
It's a scent with a huge sillage and longevity.
It has an old-fashioned and niche feeling to it.
It couldn't ever be one of my favorites, but I think it could be worn.

Mirella86

Perfectly crafted iris, no complains, other than the sillage. It's enormous and I cannot wear this perfume on my neck, it's too strong. But it smells gorgeous on my skin. It's like Francis Kurkdjian makes the perfumes perfect for my skin

kielo

I love love love the EDT version of this scent. Really beautiful, airy and long lasting floral perfume. I tried the EDP last week and while I enjoyed the top and heart notes immensely the basenotes were not a pleasant experience for me. So the EDP was enjoyable apart from the drydown unfortunately.

ssaminn

Iris Nobile EDT revolves around a very sharp iris note that smells exactly like a "Taft Hairspray" that my mom used when I was like 2-3 years old in early 90's. I like iris but not this one. I'm more of a Dior Homme Intense Iris fan! On my skin, Iris Nobile is really sharp and sour with an undertone of white flowers. Sillage and longevity are less than moderate on my skin.
Unfortunately, I cannot say that I'm a fan.

Maodo

There is Iris and there is Iris. This is IRIS at her best. Elegant, classy, feminine, but never girly or 'Hollywood' boring. IRIS NOBILE EDP is more than that really. It's also mediterrean, breezy, rich and reminds me a little bit of Mahora Guerlain allthough Mahora has no iris in it. It's the orange blossom, ylang-ylang and tuberose that leads to the same smell. Mahora though is a mysterious 'closed' perfume, Iris Nobile is 'open and inviting' and always reaches out for the sun. IRIS NOBILE shows that powdery iris definitely can be airy fresh.

You may see couple of "reminds me of" fragrances on this page, yet other than versions of Iris Nobile, I do not think there is anything that can remind you of this gem. I find this pleasant.

Acqua di Parma fragrances are essential. If you have the chance the smell or privilage to own more than one, you will understand the "heritage" they are proud of (or they are marketing, from another point of view). You will understand which frangrance is by AdP from a similar smelling group of fragrances. To me, it is mostly distinctive in the dry down. This white linen shirt, Amalfi breeze, lemon gardens and careless spirit thing.

I thought, to have iris in this mix which is already well grounded should be challanging and it would smell like some cheap body mist. I tried it on the paper with such prejudice in mind and I almost apologized from the small bottle as I smelled the most elegant iris in my life. How dare I doubted you.

Elegance, this was the key. Again there was the Amalfi feel, the breeze, gardens, the linen dress (instead of masculin reference to the shirt), and it was carefree but also confident in a subtle way. To "play" iris this way, this is a craftsman' s work.

I mostly prefer to use it in warm weather, probably because of all these associations. I recently noticed as it is "light" in heart, it will not "hug" you or feel "blankety" during colder months, a feeling most of us look for in a winter frangrance.

bintTapputi

Acqua di Parma makes what I have always traditionally thought of as good perfumes, so I’m condemned to think this is good. It’s classic and classy however I like this one less than “Magnolia”, it’s much more citrusy, and colder. Where “Magnolia” made me nostalgic for summer days with my mom, Iris reminds me of my grandmother. It’s more detached, more regal and less comforting, but still utterly nostalgic. 7.5/10

I tried the edp yesterday. I didn't like the top notes at all. Oddly spicy (it must be the anise) and somewhat dated. But as it mellowed out, I liked Iris Nobile so much better! The iris note stands out, but the tuberose is certainly here too, it adds some creaminess to the scent. The orange blossom note adds some freshness, but it's very short-lived. I'm not sure if Iris Nobile is for me, as I'm not an iris person, but I can really appreciate the beauty of it. Creamy yet austere, of course, in a noble way.

P.S. I can definitely see the "old lipstick" vibe going on. Also, the comparison with Annick Goutal Passion is spot-on.

Iris Nobile is the perfect name for this perfume. It is a beautiful iris it has a definite nobility. I think it is an empress. It stands firmly in itself, doesn't get ruffled, it is quiet and refined, has a strong sense, it is confident and self-assured. It makes me feel content and secure, and loved. It's a gorgeous mixture of sweet, sour, soft powder, strength, allure, beautiful flowers and sweet citrus fruits, with just enough wood to earth it. It isa lovely iris. All the flowers are beautiful. It is indeed exquisite.

MBB1111

The tuberose almost scared me off from this fragrance, but I am glad it did not. This is a classy, graceful, very lady-like scent but a dame, not a damsel, in the best sense of the word.

On me, there's a nice, light "buttery" smell that tempers all the florals. This is my first iris scent, so I cannot speak for the clarity of the note compared to the other florals within it. Although sweet and powdery, there is no hint of gourmand or baby powder characteristics. The anise disappears on me and the citrus notes are quiet. I have only tried this during a New England winter, but I believe this is a fragrance that may work year round.

Projection= I was dabbing, and it remained unnoticeable
Longevity= skin scent after 2 hrs
Wear= day, office-friendly if applied lightly, meeting your future mother-in-law :), when you want to smell pretty without screaming "I'm pretty!"

Iris Nobile is the perfect name. It is a beautiful iris; and has a definite nobility about it. It is an empress. It stands firmly in itself, doesn't get ruffled, is quiet and refined, has a strong sense of itself; is confident and self-assured. It makes me feel content and secure, and loved. It's a gorgeous mixture of sweet, sour, soft powder, strength, allure, beautiful flowers and sweet citrus fruits, with just enough wood to earth it. It is such a lovely iris. All the flowers are beautiful. It is exquisite.

brada

I love it.Smiley iris, not serious or austere.Very classy, you can recognize the touch of Francis Kurkdjian in the composition ,his way to make a perfume a bit far away. But low sillage and longevity.

Lille Rosse

There is so much I would like to say about Iris Nobile. It took me quite sometime to get it. Now that it is mine, I can tell you what I think and feel about it.

Iris Nobile is simply beautiful. It might feel a bit bold when you first spray it, but that boldness goes away very quickly and it turns into a quiet but dazzling natural beauty. There is this very warm and subtle sweetness to it. Nothing like burned sugar or sour fruits, but more like sweet flowers under the summer sun. I can almost see the yellow fields when I smell it. The mandarin and orange notes make this scent light and wearable. They blend so perfectly with the flowers that they don't leave a sour feeling behind. The orange color of the citrus fruits melts into the yellow of mimosa, ylang-ylang, amber and the yellow patches of the purple iris petals. I can't stop thinking about how beautiful the color harmony of IN is. It is like a beautiful painting. Even before you open it, the colors of the packaging reveal the warmth and the comfort of this delightful scent that it hides inside.

Iris Nobile is one of the masterpiece fragrances in my opinion. Maybe you have seen and smelled others similar to it, but not quite like it. It is not loud or dramatic. Doesn't need to be. Once you wear it, forgetting or ignoring it is almost impossible. It sits there unpretentiously on your skin and radiates its beauty and warmth quietly.

Fragrance Review For Iris Nobile

Acqua di Parma

Iris Nobile (Noble Iris) is my first foray into the fragrance line Acqua di Parma. My God have I been missing out. This is not the best example of their fragrances but it makes a fine intro. As an iris flower lover, and having worn such complex iris scents like L'Heure Bleue or Ysatis Iris, this is a fragrance that falls a bit flat as far as iris scents. It is very light and powdery. I realize that iris in perfumery can turn powdery but this was a bit too powdery, like actual iris scented talcum powder. It seems to want to be worn as a boudoir perfume or skin freshner and it makes me think of an Italian Contessa who loves the smell of iris so she kept a bottle of orris root and powders herself in iris.

Iris Nobile starts off with a citric smell. It's old fashioned citrus based notes of bergamot orange and mandarin orange. They are fresh, very cool, and though not an astringent or aftershave, it's very clearly an orange grove type of scent, juicy, fruity and sweet. The sweetness of the mandarin orange eventually embraces other citrus scents in flowers. I refer to the mimosa and orange blossom. This is as much a yellow floral as it is a purple floral (iris, hibiscus). The ylang ylang floral note smells just the tiniest bit like a banana. So for me there was indeed a fruitiness to this scent, though not heavy.

There is definitely orris root here and the dry down develops into an amber and vanilla powder which can smell like a common household domestic product like powder or soap. The scent is fresh, sweet, and powdery, feminine and clean, very clean.

This fragrance makes me think of the old saying: cleanliness is close to Godliness. This is a royal iris. Elegant, poised, womanly and mature. It has a very lovely aroma and longevity though it turns into powder, powder for days. I guess that's ok sometimes.

This frag can be worn to Church, to a wedding or to a formal dinner engagement. It's not heavy but it has a formality and solemnity to it. At times it does smell like L'Heure stripped down to bare bones. Gorgeous and powdery, and true to it's moniker, a noble scent.

amirali0072000

it's powdery,floral(white floral)
it's a mix of sweet Iris and white floral.
it's similar to Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile Sublime..
This is one of the most beautiful Iris base fragrance i have ever smelled. It is a feminine perfume,Very wearable scent.
I prefer wearing it in cold or warm weather.
I recommend it for using on days.
A perfect scent from heaven..

Napsu

Very rich tuberose and intensive jasmine. Buttery or waxy feel to it, I can't smell any citruses or star anise. Iris is noticeable but mostly I can smell those heavy flowers. Ylang ylang is there also.
This is beautiful but this is not for me. Smells expensive and like good quality.
Edp lasts long and it's powerful stuff.

Inhershoes

Warm soft iris. Smells old-fashioned enough to be on-brand. Makes me wish there was an "indifferent" box on this site, rather than just "love, "like" or "dislike".

Update: far more interesting on the dry-down.

dyen

How I love a good Iris perfume. This is buttery and beautiful - dry, sweet, woozy and enveloping but for me it doesn't knock Hermes Hiris off its velvety throne for my favourite Iris based fume.

moreorlessa

This fragrance to me is the missing link between something like Love, Chloé and perfumes in the style of Champs Elysees and Cerruti 1881. Not as heavy on the mimosa as the latter, as the iris note is still the star of the show. I actually didn't pick up on the tuberose, or at least it's certainly not the tuberose you find in Fracas, Cabotine or 24 Faubourg, which is a relief, because I think that would thrown off the scent in a different direction entirely. I really like this, it's a very "me" fragrance, as I love a good powdery, iris-based fragrance.

gelo999

Iris Nobile is a powdering of that appeal with the name of gauzy floral, but without the grace and style that prints Olivia Giacobetti its fragrances as nuanced as a breeze that comes to you from a floral bouquet on a ambarado background and sweet, but insubstantial and soulless.
In this iris bouquet queen in a feud where other flowers accompany him as a retinue of ladies in long flitting around without much power and poise, and that is an EDP.

Very nice, flowery and natural, but applied in skin and I get a jarring note perspiring could be some spice or wood that spoils everything, unless you like that kind of notes, of course :)
Iris Nobile, to me at least, does not convince me, or what vaporous or for that rancid touch.

Fresh, regal and like a traditional fragrance but for someone young. I can imagine a contessa wearing this with some white lace gloves on. It is very zesty on me with an almost violet leaf note. The dry down is nice and powdery. Old school perfume for sure...Very Italian. Feels like the kind of smell that has been handed down for centuries. The most interesting aspect is the vanillic, powdery dry down that still clings to the original Iris. A summer staple.

I had bought this a while back, and yes, it was a blind buy. I wanted to love this so much, but sadly it didn't work on my skin. I think it's the mimosa. Seems like every scent I've tried that has lots of mimosa doesn't work so well on me. Tuberose is another note that can tricky on me too. I think it was a combo of these two that just didn't do it for me.

If all the notes work on your skin, I'm jealous. I'm sure this is a lovely scent on the right person. But for me, it's a no go. I've since sent it back and bought something else. I really wish this would've worked, but oh well, they all can't be winners.

Arlene-Beatrix

Warm iris scent, in fact a rich blend of iris, vanilla, amber and woods. Nice, but it also has something that irritates me. Perhaps it's tuberose, one of my least favorite notes.

davide2111

Iris allo stato puro, più aspro e meno dolce delle fragranze con questo fiore come protagonista. Il bouquet di fiori è avvertibile come gli agrumi in testa. Profumo da donna over 40!

globus pallidus

Iris shares her throne with her non-identical twin sister called tuberose. Like the lanky, lovely florals they are, they keep sitting there, all well-mannered and nice to be around.

The tuberose is exactly the kind I smelled in Histoires des Parfums' first of the three - namely, the creamy variety, reminiscent of expensive lotion on sunkissed skin. The iris herself bears little to no resemblance to her gothic cousin Iris Silver Mist (who is the root to Iris Nobile's blossoms) or the "businesslady" No. 19, except for maybe a bit of soapiness it borrows from the latter.
Interestingly, Iris Nobile has been praised as a chypre - let's just say, Mitsouko this is not. Anything dark and unsettling has been carefully hidden in the background, serving merely as props to complete the scene.

To me, this is the perfume equivalent of a spa day - it makes you feel neat and pretty and life look so easy.

beatrix75

This is i fall in Love with EDP omg unbelievable beauty lovely iris anise and sweet tuberose. lasting power it's very good elegant and Nobile

Musume

I got a sample of Iris Nobile EDP a couple of years ago, I tried it and forgot it very soon. I couldn't find anything irisy about it, it was a floral-chypre and I was not into that kind of scents at that time. I've tested it again this week and now my heart beats in trepidation, it is really a floral-chypre, flowery iris (not very earthy) over a vanilla-amber-woody base. Its sillage is wonderfully present and lasts about 5-6 hours in my skin. You can't imagine the lies I'm telling myself to believe that I really need a bottle of this perfume. The feeling I got is the same that when you meet again an old friend, one you considered just nice, but this time you're mature enough to see that this person is special.

Angeldaisy

i love this.

yes, white and yellow flowers.
a beautiful iris is present, though a little overwhelmed at times perhaps.
sweetness. refined. but not particularly powdery on me. with a delicious dry down.
it has a vintage vibe, which i like.

actually...thinking about it, like all the Francis Kurkdjian perfumes i have tried...they are overtly feminine and muchly intoxicating.

test before you buy. it is strong and long.

what sprang to my mind as soon as i squirted...were Fracas and Mahora (not in smell, but in bombasticosiousness).

...i found Iris Nobile almost overwhelming to begin with!
despite the almost nausea, i was oddly drawn to it and now i can't get enough!

EDIT: iris and Oakmoss are my favourite whiffs, so i have tested this in cool weather.
it's a love love love.
and the dry down is utterly gorgeous.
when i sniff my wrists after a few hours, it's very similar to L'Air de Rien dry down, which i also love.
can't wait to receive my full bottle.

Planet_X

In fact the previous reviewer was spot on. That's not an iris scent, but an oily, rich, yellow floral one. It is posh, long-lasting, powdery tuberose with mimose and orange blossom. On me it is overhelming and I am not from faint-hearted division, since I do love Poeme and Jil Sander No4, I think Iris Nobile is on same scale as Fracas by silage and determination to suffocate.

sleepy*weasel

"Whole floral chorus" is right! Testing the EDP, I do love it, but it's not an iris scent. It's a lovely yellow floral which dries down to a sweet blend of powdery orange blossom and mimosa. If iris is in there, it's hard to find. This is rich, deep, golden, buttery, flowery and strong. I'm surprised and pleased, as I've probably tested too many austere and melancholy iris scents. Also there's not much citrus in the EDP, it's more along the lines of Divine "Divine" and Too Much. Having said all that, I adore it, and I'll be buying some. It's perfectly blended and very high-quality - Lovely :)

ellina1984

This is buttery and earthy, very deep, with a licoricey edge. Definitely unisex, and bears no connection to infusion d' iris, which is much brighter by comparison.

angellama

This is one of my favorite iris fragrances - possibly even THE favorite at the moment. It begins with a gentle opener of iris mixed with a bit of orange blossom. In contrast to Frederic Malle's Iris Poudre, it lacks the sharpness that sometimes comes with a colder iris. As it dries down it becomes slightly sweet, peppered with white florals. I even catch a hint of vanilla at the tail end, as the scent is about to leave me. Projection is just beyond a skin scent - someone near me can smell it for the first couple hours, but I don't believe it projects much further than arms' length. If you really love iris with a twist, I couldn't recommend this more. I'd already have a bottle if finances permitted - but believe you me, it will be a part of my collection as soon as I can manage!

ex-grayspoole

Iris is one of my favorite notes and flowers so I was compelled to try Iris Nobile even though many reviewers have clearly stated that there is not, in fact, much iris present here. I sampled the EDP, which is a well-crafted scent that suggests the most ginormous bridal bouquet of heady white flowers. There may be one small austere stem of iris hidden behind the gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, orange blossoms and who knows what else, but how would you ever notice it? The floral avalanche comes to rest on a sweet base of vanilla and light resins. Lots of sillage, lasts forever. Glamorous, fun to try, but somehow not memorable. Points deducted for taking the name of the noble iris in vain.

epicurean

So sad...I really liked this at first. The iris and bergamot notes, sweetened by vanilla, are truly lovely. Then the tuberose and orange blossom turn up to spoil the party and give me a headache. Go easy on the sprays; this stuff gets into your sinuses tear gas style.

Les Half-pug Parfumers

I apologise if I offend but I tried this for the first time today and after a couple of hours I was smelling my wrist and what came to mind was a milder Giorgio of Bev Hills, slightly prettier with a little hint of powder. (EDT) LOVELY!

deda147

Iris Nobile is a real mystery, albeit a beautiful one. My love affair with IN started with a sample I ordered - the impression it gave was an an iris on a lovely cloud of full white flowers and a powdery sweet base. I decided to order a bottle last month and it made me even fall harder for this release from Acqua di Parma. Since Fragrantica doesn't have a separate page for the EdT/EdP, I'll list the notes for the latter here (according to the official AdP site):

Top: Bergamot, Aniseed, Mandarin
Heart: Ylang-Ylang, Iris
Base: Vanilla, Patchouli, Oakmoss

I was really excited when my bottle finally arrived (I was able to snap it up for a bargain price!). As soon as I sprayed it on it confused me; it didn't smell like my sample. It started out rather airy/ethereal, nothing like my sample. I was afraid my bottle already turned since it smelled so thin. The opening consisted of fresh bergamot/mandarin and a light, silky and powdery iris, slightly spiced with aniseed. To my surprise, the opening lasted rather long: about 30 to 45 minutes. Most of the time top notes don't last that long on my skin, so it was a rather nice suprise. It slowly moves on to the heartnotes: the iris becomes more powdery and it gets a slight leathery/oily feeling. The ylang ylang note is simply heaven - it's sweet and smooth, not too intense. It really lifts up the iris and works great with the top notes. The heart notes also last quite long, about 3 hours before the basenotes start to show up. From this point on I start to recognize it; turned out my sample somehow consisted only of the heart/basenotes. The patchouli gives the fragrance some darkness, the vanilla contributes to the plush, powdery feeling and sweetens things up a bit. I can't really make out the oakmoss to be honest.

This fragrance is simply a real delight. I've never had a fume 'evolve' this much on my skin. It starts out light and airy, before transforming in a blooming flower and ending with a sensual whisper. Longevity is great, about 10 to 12 hours. Sillage is really sneaky; I gave it three sprays and at first I barely noticed anything, but when the heart- and basenotes appeared it became rather cloying/overwhelming. Go easy on the trigger with this one. It's versatile enough to be used anytime and anywhere. I would even wear it when going for a night out! It's also perfectly wearable by men - it would make a slightly more floral/fresher version of Dior Homme (without the amber/cacao).

courant

for the EDP. If you like Mitsouko and older Guerlains you might rate this. In short I find it a hybrid of Mitsy and Annick Goutal's Passion. I believe it was designed to be full on, in your face, Portofino rich, take no prisoners, BOLD. I tried wearing less of it but it's pedal to the metal in the same way that Mitsouko, or Amarige is. A quality perfume to be sure but yet another 'challenging' fragrance. Seems best in a warm climate. Not a comfort scent for winter at all.

Miss LaCreevy

It is both warm and radiant. Obviously a perfume of high quality. I think it is ideal for fall.

SeptemberSapphire

I tested this today and it is beautiful. I will have to buy this soon. Both the edp and edt smell gorgeous in their own way. Decisions, decisions... which one to buy.

andabri

Iris and orange blossoms and tuberose. Very heady like full blooms on a hot spring day. Over a layer of expensive dressing powder. There's an edge of anise mixed with amber for a bit of an edge, but it's more like an airy after thought of spice than any real spiciness.

Dries down to powdery, soapy floral with a hint of sweetness.

A very sexy and almost edible fragrance. Bit headachy though but then many are to me. I dont wear it much but should do really, it can be heavier than the normal for me, more floral than my usual citrus preferences, but its not actually heavy.

becuille

This is pretty, powdery and delightful. Iris perfumes are often referred to as the "little black dress" of fragrances and this one fits that profile well. It's very wearable for any occasion or weather. It makes a great easy go-to perfume when you're not sure what you're looking for.

A quick word of warning to anyone looking for a rooty/carroty iris: this isn't it. It's a floral interpretation, focussing much more on the iris flower than the orris root. So just to let you know that in case that's not what you like from your iris scents.

This is so beautifully powdery. I sometimes call it my "ballerina perfume" because I could imagine it on a pretty, elegant prima ballerina.

The anise is very, very subtle. It lends a little edge to the iris, but that's all. The citrus is a nice burst in the opening, then leaves during the dry down. Surprisingly, I don't really get tuberose. I'm wary of tuberose because I find it tends to overwhelm anything it's in, but that's not the case here.

I got overnight longevity from this and sillage is moderate/strong. A little goes a long way.

Based on EDP concentration.

I dismissed Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile the first time I tried it, as I was getting interested in iris soliflore fragrances, which Iris Nobile didn't seem to be.

Recently, while randomly reading some reviews, I was intrigued by the comments claiming that Iris Nobile focuses more on the iris flower rather than the earthy rooty orris, which I partially agree after trying it again.

On me, Iris Nobile is essentially an orange blossom-centric fragrance, although the iris is also detectable, just not that earthy, rooty, but has a more woody nuance. The floralcy, the vivid orange and the woody and slightly powdery characteristics do remind me of sniffing my pot of blooming iris last spring, as I did catch an orange nuance in the flower. However, the orange in Iris Nobile is so strong on me that I can't help perceving it as an orange blossom supported by iris as a strutural note. From time to time, I can also sense a discreet star anise flirting with the white bouquet.

As time goes on, Iris Nobile becomes more creamy with the addition of tuberose and a faint vanilla. And a moss-patchouli base quitely spreads under the white bouquet, which lends it a very classic character, yet overall, the fragrance still feels like a modern combination of floral and woody elements.

The sillage is heavy to moderate, and the longevity is at least 9 hours. Once I stop sticking too precisely to the name, I find myself enjoying Iris Nobile immensely. Such a chic, elegant composition of orange blossom, iris and moss base. I'd definitely recommend it to those who enjoy white floral or to those who'd like a solid but at the same time a more friendly interpretation of iris or chypre fragrance.

misslovely

I think it's a very pleasant smell. The iris is not as strong as I would like, I tend to smell more of the citrus notes and the other floral notes. Thank you, Onaona for the sample. :)

Lana148

Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile is a mix of sweet Iris and white floral. You really have to love white floral to appreciate this offering because, to me, it overpowers the iris smell in this fragrance.

katacran

As an iris lover I felt dissappointed by this fragrance. I didn´t get the rooty nor the woody or green aspect of it. I was only getting a creamy-powdery vibe more of a violet and tuberose than of an iris. Well... How wrong I was! Last week I had the chance to smell a fragrant iris flower (despite I was told the flower itself is odourless). Now I can say that Iris Nobile is a wonderful and magical interpretation of the "Iris Sicula" flower smell. Thanks to Caron and Kurkdjian for revealing one more facet of the wonderful blue flower.

Let me start by quoting another review : I like it and maybe in love.
It is a unique perfume yet so familiar. It evokes in my head words like elegant, luscious, extravagant, rich, warm, comfort, delicious, charming, gourmand...
It is also a perfume full with contradictions it smells old and new at once, it smells unique and familiar, seductive and comforting, sophisticated yet approachable; I think this adds to its charm.
After a couple of tries I found my self drawn to it , like a new love; you can't wait till you experience it again.

My favouite iris. My favouite fragrance all together as of late. Its a stunner! I have it in all versions and the EDP with the golden lid is my favourite. This picture should be updated. I don't think this fragrance above is being made anymore.
There is ; EDP iris nobile.!!! Then sublime and a new edt is out now which is wonderful as well.
My very favourite remains the EDP , rich and loud and sweet and orangey with star anise and vanilla. Amazing luxurious and elegant. Fabulous perfume.

The sublime is more muted and suede like due to the birch , it's less sweet and less loud. Wonderful as well. The edt now , in the tall bottle and white container is fresh and creamy ,powdery and musky. In fact it smells very similar to Nivea cream.
Acqua di Parma perfumes are incredible well made and has high quality Italian made fragrances.

pansylady

I sampled this one before, and don't remember enjoying it quite as much as I do at the moment- on this cold night, when winter just refuses to let go of its grip on us, it is really hitting all of the right notes!

Dry iris, accented with orange blossom, bergamot and amber- a little powdery, a little soapy, definitely unisex-

Excellent longevity and potency-

Jose Marcos

Very, very light floral, in a way pretty and carefree, almost childish. I may be mistaken but it smells a sort of diet Juicy Couture JC, I mean, sugarless... and diluted also. Can't detect any note specifically, just a bouquet of white flowers. But quality is still very Acqua di Parma, Iris Nobile EDT smells fresh and natural, like a mixture just made.

Edit: it seems that I applied very little thus I couldn' smell iris Nobile properly. I can get the staranisee and amber quite strong, some vanilla, and woods up from the opening. Anisee and iris together makes IN smell a bit like Shalimar Parfume Initial. I like it very much and don't think it's that feminine after all.

patxaran

I had a carded sample of this and tried it but will pass it on to another perfume buddy here. While this is a classic floral fragrance that smells as expensive as it probably is, I would not call it an iris. If you are after Iris there are plenty of better options - cold, warm, sweet, dirty etc. This is iris hidden in a big bouquet - I can clearly detect a lot of tuberose here. I actually like tuberose, but I prefer my tuberose scents to be decadently sweet, with vanilla and gardenia etc. and I love my iris scents powdery, violetty, with orris root, etc. To me, these are two different kettle of fish that don't need to mix ;-)

ParfumFetiche

This review is based on a decant. Touted by many as one of the better iris scents. Perfumeposse said it's a beginner's more accessible iris. Opening is a bit strong with AdP's signature citrus notes, which then quickly settles down and stays closer to skin. On my skin I get mostly white floral especially tuberose. It smells too familiar. It's the same tuberose from my wife's Fracas by Robert Piguet except that Fracas is a jammy one. Marketed as for women and I would have to agree with that due to the predominant white floral notes. I don't get the orris root I love so much from Dior Homme in this but It's a quality well-crafted scent nonetheless. It would fit nicely on my wife but I couldn't see myself pulling this off. Moderate projection and longevity on my skin.

meligonlan

Layer this perfume with Yardley's English Rose and the result is sublime!

elena788

I have deluxe samples of both the EDT and the EDP, and love them both, though they are very different scents. If you want a perfume that screams "IRIS!" definitely go for the EDP, the EDT is just as much about neroli as it is iris. Since I'm a neroli fiend, that suits me fine.

The EDP is warmer, darker, and more sophisticated. Beautiful, but I can't see myself using it until I'm older. It's not old lady-ish, but it's just a tad too rich for this particular 20 something.

WendyMH

Somehow both powerful and understated. If there's one perfume I own that pulls attention from men, this would be it. A mature feminine scent that knows how to pull attention and then knows what to do with it. The powdery-ness of it sometimes strikes me as a little old-fashioned. The reactions it evokes are anything but sepia-toned though.

mippymuppett

Based on EDP

I love love love iris and was so excited to try this version of Iris Nobile. Unfortunately for me, the iris is short lived. On my skin orange blossom and tuberose take over. I am shocked because this stage lasts forever. I've been waiting for the last 4 hours for the vanilla to show up and was hoping I might feel the iris again in the dry down. But no such luck. I tried Iris Nobile Sublime and found that closer to what I was looking for. Very nice for tuberose fans.

This is still very pretty and the longevity and silage are fantastic but "Iris" Nobile it is not.

christianne1

I got a deluxe sample of this and sprayed it on and was like "whew!" and put it in the "to give away" pile. Then just shortly after I got a whiff and thought is that the scary perfume? It smells phenomenal!! Then I ended up sniffing my arm over and over. Then I took it back out of the giveaway pile and put it back into the keeper pile. Then I forgot about it and ran across it again recently and now it is in the "to be purchased" pile.

There is no missing the iris in this so I am puzzled as to how anyone could say there is no iris in this. It is like an iris bomb. I grew up with a grandmother who grew irises and there is no mistaking the smell.

Lasts nearly all day for me and has decent sillage (or the max that I like to have, I do not want to completely overpower a room or leave a trail but I don't want a nose to have to be 6 millimeters from my wrist to be able to smell it either.)

A beautiful, classic fragrance and I recommend it to anyone looking for an old school classic scent that nobody else will have on yet everyone will notice and want to know what on earth you have on. I am not getting any unisex from this at all, it smells completely feminine.

antfarm

EDP: This was barely detectable at first, like tap water that just dripped off of an iris, but eventually I was pleasantly surprised with one of the most beautiful, unique, elegant fragrances I have encountered.

Iris Nobile blooms on my skin and develops stronger and stronger with time but never becomes overpowering (unless the orange blossom starts to get bossy like it sometimes does). It is a sensual iris-ylang combo with only a slight edge of powder adding some femininity. There is also something in Iris Nobile that smells of sweaty, salty hair but it never crosses the line into animalic territory (although if it did, I wouldn't mind). It reminds me a little of Putain des Palaces but more refined and with better lasting power.

The entire composition eventually smells like a well-blended chypre instead of a purely iris-based scent.

ranchorita

I ordered a spray sample of this based on ecstatic mentions of this fragrance on the discussion boards. I should have looked on the notes listed for this and recognized that the high register of powderiness is perfume doom for me. The initial spray brought a very pretty scent which quickly faded to powder that was completely gone in well under two hours. This is a gorgeous perfume, but apparently my chemistry blasts the poor darling into oblivion. The scent is definitely a good one for hot weather, if it works for you. I recommend you invest in a sample and try before buying. I expect if this works for you, it will work in a memorable and very pleasing way.

400blows

Am i getting something gamey in the base- maybe civet? Someone mentioned musk. Definitely ripe. I was enchanted by the top notes of this, but it's tinged obscene after several hours.

KateAnette

I'm not sure how iris is supposed to smell like, and based on reviews, this isn't quite an iris perfume. The most prominent notes to me are orange and tuberose. More orange in the EdT than the EdP.
This is one of the rare cases when i like the EdT more. It's fresher, softer, brighter, very natural smelling. The EdP is heavier and it smells slightly synthetic to me compared to the EdT. I do like the EdP as well, just not quite as much. There's something in the drydown that makes me go "meh", maybe it's the oakmoss and patchouli combo? For everyday use, the EdT is perfect.

recherche

I bought it because it smelled amazing on someone I used to work with. I didn't have the same luck, but it made a great bathroom deodorizer!

pbluberry

The EDP smells like powdery iris and tuberrose but also balmy neroli that is not listed. Moderation in sillage, I'm not sure about the longevity. It almost reminds me of a new car smell. I like it!!

dlane1953

The EDP is a warm, complex, and heady creation that really impresses me with its elegance and character. I'm new to iris perfumes so my basis for comparison is non-existent, but I had expected it to be a big powder bomb at some stages, which thankfully it was not. Gently powdery and very beautiful. The white florals (tuberose, ylang-ylang and orange blossom) are prominant throughout. The dry down is a voluptuous, earthy mixture of amber, vanilla, and cedar--I couldn't find the patchouli or oakmoss there--which lingers for many hours. Wearability is great; I would wear this day or night as long as I applied with a light hand. Long wearing, 12 hours and up on me. This is going on my wish list. Love it!

Divine Blue

I have only the body lotion which I apply after a shower and its waftiness and freshness is soft and divine especially in warm weather. I haven't smelt the EDP or other versions but now I will find them and see if they are just as gorgeous. The body lotion has the fresh iris, a touch of citrus, something like cool lime with a breeze, a subtle background of gardenia and a gentle whisper of tuberose. very classy and suitable for all occasions. a man would smell outrageously edible in this too.

DresdenDoll

This was not what I was expecting. Iris Nobile I had hoped to be a more luminous version of Hiris, an iris scent with a little more kick. This however has entirely too much.
My first thought was 'What is this white floral monstrosity??' It's not actually a monstrosity of course, but it is certainly not what I would call an iris scent. I got citrus and anise in the opening then tuberose and orange blossom and they overpower everything else.
It slowly grows gentler, but never do I feel any powder or iris. Very nice projection and the staying power is doing very well, which is apparently very good for this line of scents. Not what I wanted at all.

9-na

Got EDT and EDP, a present. They smelled a lot like each other on me, musky and flowery, but the flowers weren't 100% the same. And all's good about it, but it is not my scent, not my scent at all.

Gingersnpr

Um. Okay all I can say is gun cleaner, it smells like gun cleaner and old lady hair spray(aqua net). Sorry this is not for me.

Aspendina

I have the EDP and wow this is so amazing. I had a sample years ago and remembered loving it so I recently bought one and its just as amazing as I remember. I can't get over though how identical it is to Britney's Curious, I have both and can't tell them apart. One of my top favs for sure. I am gonna put this away and wear it for spring.

mylancome

The EDP is citrusy iris, super!

soulflwr

My first review was on the edt. I just sampled the edp and now I understand. The EDP is warm, comfy, floral, and spicy while I the EDT is a bit generic.

This fragrance is quite the chameleon on me- each time I wear it, it smells differently- unusual for me-

On first impression, the opening citrus notes seemed very dominant and bracing, placing it firmly in the unisex category- completely drowning out the iris, unfortunately-

At times, the heart is off-puttingly indolic- but not always-

Orange blossom becomes prominent in the base, and I find this to be the most pleasant phase- I smell musk too, although this note is not listed here- however, the fragrance is categorized as a floral woody musk...

The warmer I am, the better it smells- which I've noticed often happens to me with orange blossom notes-

I'm guessing that my sample is the original rather than the reformulated version, which is supposed to be heavier on the iris and lighter on the citrus-

Decent sillage and longevity- 10+ hours is pretty good in my book-

scentous

Opening is disapponting with a very spicy bergamot-mandarin note, but fortunately fades away quickly, then earthy soapy iris with amber at the background comes along, but this phase also fades away quickly (unfortunately this time), after this point it is a very close to skin scent, and you can barely feel it :(( I don't get the anise and the other florals, it is a 7 out of 10, if it comes to iris I find infusion d'iris more appealing..

sunlover

I am a female in my early 20's, and this is a very elegant perfume to wear amidst a sea of tween perfumes. There were days when I absolutely loved how beautiful it smelled on me, and then there were days when, as another reviewer said, the ylang ylang made me nauseous. I very much liked the creamy drydown, but overall this fragrance is too sweet for me to wear everyday. I would have to be in a particular mood to be extra, extra girly. I bought the bottle, then returned it and opted to get a few samples of it for when I do feel in the mood.

I prefer Colonia, and also have Mirto di Panarea, as they are much lighter for me.

The following review is reffering to the E. d. P.

Elegant and well balanced a classical luminous fragrance more than an "avant garde" creation. Though iris is the main theme, many other ingredients are involved like Bulgarian rose and jasmine (in the opening) a gentle touch of peach even though not declared in the piramid above, noticeable especially during the dry down while it turns into a lovely powdery fragrance. Personally I prefer even a little more invention - when possible - BUT I see that the especially good ingredients here employed make the charming fragrance that it is and ingredients make always a difference! Good sillage, it reminds me the vintage Paco Rabanne E. de Calandre....but probably mine is just a fade memory. Very good persistence, even better than I thought. Whenever real iris is involved prices are always looking towards the sky... so if you are sure to leave it where it is, at least, think about a gentle introduction because it worth. I cannot suggest when to use it, I've tried it twice during the last three days (february) and I think it could be right for winter, probably also for the middle seasons, but I can't say without "evidences". Very good - in a different but interesting manner - either on a male skin or a female; on me it's perfect (another temptation!) but...every skin speaks a different language.
Another way to "do" perfumery. Definitely.

valarian

This has a very beautiful and showy opening but I wish it lasted longer on my skin. I actually feel I could overlook that as while it does last it smells great.

It dries down to something pleasant but not amazing. This for me is all about the start. There is also a little soapy action going on which I don't mind as it is fairly subtle.

A nicely done perfume and well worth a try for any Iris lovers!

melia

I need to do another review on Iris Nobile edp! Because believe it or not, it went from a kind-of-dislike to.. a love! I've noticed my nose has started to tolerate irisses a lot more lately than at the beginning, and I also do think... It's probably the weather. I've smelled this in warm weather, but combined with sun and sweat this smells a bit odd and as I said earlier, mediterranian-bathroom-ish. But now in wintertime, it really blossoms on my skin! It's hard too describe what it is all about besides the iris, but I really dig the warm woody edge it has to it (and cedar always seems to smell musky on me!). Fresh, warm, powdery, floraly, woody, elegant, it has it all! Very very nice (for winter)!

eilismaireg

This is an absolutely lovely fragrance, which happily straddles two of my favorite genres, animalic chypre and white floral. Imagine Songes with a drop of Femme and you have this (EDP). I don't, however, detect a significant Iris note. I do get it in the mid phase, reminding me of the Iris in Ferre and others.
This is a beautiful, rich and elegant perfume but it isn't remarkable or strange. It is sexy, though and I would be happy to receive a bottle of this for Christmas!!

carinas

I like EDT, it's light, crispy, perfect for summer, EDP smelled like different perfume alltogether.
I also have Iris Nobile body creme, which I tend to use even more than EDT. Body creme gives me feeling, besides moisturizing so well, that my skin smells naturally so beautiful, it's like my own skin scent. It makes me feel wealthy.
I would use light hand with Iris Nobile, it can easily overwhelm you (and others around you).

gypsy parfumista

I, just this past weekend, received carded spray samples of BOTH the Iris Nobile EDP and the EDT *bows deeply to ElenaLondon*...and here are the differences (as shown on the cards) between the two:

EDT: "An elegant floral fragrance-transparent, fresh and crystalline: IRIS, STAR ANISE, ORANGE BLOSSOM and AMBRETTE CRYSTALS."

EDP: "An intense floral fragrance-sensual, sophisticated and long lasting: IRIS/ORRIS, YLANG YLANG, PATCHOULI, VANILLA and OAK MUSK."

To me (at "firsniff") the EDP is definitely richer, thicker and more heady, sexy and deep...while the EDT (while remaining a "true" iris scent) is sharper, more "active" or energetic and spicier (after it dries down). I shall review BOTH of these "Ladies" (separately) VERY soon...

I do believe that the "for HER" AdP scents are actually more "me" than some of the men's releases are: (Cipresso di Toscano excluded) Iris Nobile EDP and Magnolia Nobile EDP, for example, are both well-constructed clean but complex florals with a touch of mystery and exotic spices, and marvelous dry downs that LAST!! My skin normally DEVOURS flowers like magnolia (or sours them!) but here they are amazing and long lasting (in either concentration)!

Kudos to Acqua di Parma! Your perfumes are as wonderful as your Colonias...maybe better! *winks*

Inspire0111

Very strong gardenia as it dries down. I was surprised when I discovered that but I can see other reviewers here also detect the gardenia. Lovely top notes but then come to the "gardenia" stage and the scent isn't so lovely any nore. The opening reminds of Couture Couture.

alfarom

A strong and tenacious Orange Blossoms and Tuberose fragrance laying on a Gardenia base. The Iris in this composition it's just a side note that shows up in the middle phase but it's never dominating and remarks its presence with a barely perceptible voice. A well crafted EDP but somehow less, and no match for Iris Bleu Girs, Iris Silver Mist, Iris 39 or Iris De Nuit.

Lovely but absolutely mislabelled and a bit (just a bit) stereotyped.

Rating: 6.5-7/10

Habanita

This one is a nice scent but it's nothing for me. If you are into Iris, then this is a good choice.

OlfractalInfemme

Strong sweet scent of giant Iris. Quite sweet on me. An anise note which sometimes comes forth. The cedar note comes out only eventually. Orange blossom comes out more in humidity. Superbly blended. Certainly noble.

delphine67

To prominent Ylang note for my taste. It made me a bit nauseous. I dont like white flowers in a perfume coz they always makes me woosy. Its a very strong perfume also so try before you buy

Mooniq

Iris Nobile EdP - Makes me feel like a really rich girl. This one is a favourite. Deep, sensual and very woman-ish. I love all the notes in it and a really like the basenote with amber and vanilla. Longlasting - on my skin 6-7 hours. This one is exspensive - and I tried Burberry London EdP - which I find to be really similar but a little bit lighter than this gorgeous one. Iris Nobile is worth every penny in my opinion.

Wega

This is one of those scents that could use a separate listing for each - the EDP and EDT. They are very different, IMO.
I tried the EDP first, and it IS deep and rich. It's funny, though - at first, it seemed pure spun sweet powder-air. I had to wear it for a few days before I got a deep damp-earth vibe. Iris Nobile strikes me as a stunning, wintry, glowing-without-heat composition that manages to be earthy and ethereal at the same time. It is 'sweet', but not in an edible way at all.
As for the EDT, the image is of a grove of birches at the edge of a meadow in early spring. A human man is trying to teach a nymph how to make a fire. She copies his movements, but instead of sparks, she creates sparkling crocuses and snowdrops. The EDT also is sweet, but younger, more optimistic and wetter.
Both absolutely gorgeous, and well worth a sample, if not more.

melia

Iris nobile (edp) is definitely very mediterranean. Kind of creamy but fresh, very strong... It really reminds me of organic olive soap! The way the 'bagno' (bathroom) would smell in a lovely italian villa. I think it's nice for 50+ women to smell interesting and elegant, but not for me. I absolutely don't hate it, but I don't really like it either. I think I would prefer it as a candle though.

EDIT: sometimes I really don't understand myself! Why did I make that remark on the 50+? It doesn't make any sense. I'm still on the mediterranean bathroomcandle opinion though, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to smell it on a 20 year old too (still not on me!).

Lilski

I LOVE the Acqua de Parma scents, from the unisex cologne that both my parents wear, to the new(er), floral notes of Iris Nobile, it lasts, it's distinctive, it's a great little scent, both as the EDP and as a room candle. Excellent Stuff.

sherapop

I've been sniffing all the iris-centric perfumes that I can get my nose on and happened upon a sample of Acqua di Parma IRIS NOBILE. Wow, I'm impressed. I may even be in love. Part of my surprise no doubt is due to the sheer fact that this is a perfume (edp, actually), not a cologne. Somehow I had been laboring under the misconception that a house called "Acqua di Parma" only traded in colognes, or watery "eaux". Not so, I am happy to have discovered!

IRIS NOBILE is a thick and rich, complex and layered iris perfume with a fantastically fine woody-iris drydown. I have to say that, next to this, Prada INFUSION D'IRIS does seem pretty boring--as some perfumistas have lamented. (Of course, that's fine with me, since if some did not like it I would never have acquired my big, beautiful bottle in a swap!)

This composition is closer to HIRIS, although it's true that the carroty, earthy facet of IRIS NOBILE is much less prominent. The anise adds thickness and depth. I do believe that this is a noble iris perfume, one of the best around. The quality is top-notch (yes, I'd compare it to Frederic Malle), and this composition is completely unisex. Iris lovers: do not neglect to give this gem a sniff!

************************
Addendum: having now glimpsed at The Guide, I have "learned" that, against all olfactory evidence, IRIS NOBILE is *not* an iris but a gardenia perfume! Whatever. (Perhaps chocolate smells like lobster, too...)

Catbiscuit

The first half hour of Iris Nobile EDP was all about impressions for me.

Dark soil, chopped root vegetables, dill weeds, earthworms, feet, pepper, the smell of steel shovel turning earth in the cold morning (all good). And then, an organic metallic smell, like blood and saliva (bad *bad* BAD!).

Thankfully this transforms itself into a cold, inorganic metallic base to the spicy powdery iris arising out of the ashes.

From here on in, it is all beauty and nobility. Cool, intoxicating, perfectly balanced, a little spicy, a little salty, a little floral, impossible to describe accurately. Very much worth trying.

adele l

The last adp i sampled had this persistent lemon note which ruined a beautiful composition... thankfully iris nobile does not contain a heavy citrus note. It's subtle, powdery and oh so pretty. Would be wearable at work as well.

chocolat

Yes!!!
I could trade half of my perfume wardrobe for a bottle of EDP, so much so I am making evil plans how to obtain one in a month... Damn the economic rundown!
Anyway, to be helpful here- I can describe the EDP as a very soft and rich scent, very much creamy and fresh at once, round and full of vibe! I prefer the EDP to the EDT, as the latter is a little stripped down in a way, but it is probably a good choice for the hot weather. Imagine Shalimar without the vanilla and a little more fresh and mature, that's how it sounds to me. I think it is what the name promises- Iris Nobile! I LOVE it as well!

Miss Guerlain

Be sure to try both the EDP & EDT before you decide to purchase. Because these 2 are completley different fragrances. The EDT is lame and very light. While the EDP is a real magical stunner! So get the EDP - it's the only way to go with IRIS NOBILE! ;)

marchdenver

I just love this scent of Iris. I have tried the EDT and Iam willing to try this fall the EDP.

cocomademoisellerie

The EdP is like a child of Faubourg and Allure. Herbal, dry, but gentle and smooth at the same time. The opening notes are very strong, but it nicely settles down to a close-to-the-skin-scent.

Helsinki

I had high expectations. The noble Iris didn't let me down: Who could turn down a classy, simplified beauty? I felt as if I were metamorphing into a real flower during the first minutes. :)

Such a downright scent stripped off of any unnecessary distractions. Very well done. In its sophistication Iris Nobile doesn't suit everybody (including a tomboy like me).

I really like the subtle anis note. It's a peculiar note choice but seems to work well! The bottle is also very stylish, oozing dignity and prestige.

Malegria

A very translucent, transparent iris flower. For such many notes it is a very simple, non complicated scent.Easy to wear, good for those who don`t like to wear perfumes but fell like thy are obliged to....and for hot climate, too.

MirabelleJee

This Iris smells like iris. The other iris fragrances I've tested usually remind me a sweet carrot. This one reminds ma an iris flower. Not bad at all, iris fans will like it )

lucifera

hmm never smelled something from this brand but i would like to! the bottles look a bit like a nailpolish bottle xD

missk

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. An iris based fragrance at its prettiest.

Iris Nobile is so very feminine and subtle. On the skin it becomes incredibly natural and soothing. This fragrance smells as expensive as it is worth, a delicate and interesting blend of notes which is in no way synthetic or loud.

I find that this fragrance could suit any age group, it's versatile and suitable for all occasions, all seasons.

The drydown is my favourite aspect of Iris Nobile, the powdery iris and vanilla blend is to die for. However, this fragrance is divine from beginning to end.

Lasting strength of this fragrance is excellent, well worth the money in my opinion. One of the prettiest florals I've ever come across and certainly worth all the rave reviews. Iris Nobile gets the thumbs up from me.

Mido

I like this perfume - whene a smell this perfume i imagen wonderful girl>>

This is a beautiful Iris but can't beat "Iris Poudre"

Rumpelstilzchen

This is a perfume of utmost elegance. You cannot go wrong with it because it is never overwhelming and leaves you fresh. I own the Eau de Parfum, and I love it. It is long-lasting, thus perfect for even a warm day in spring. It underlines the strong personality of a modern mature woman.

Spring25

I tried the EDT, which is fairly soft and lasted only a couple hours on my skin. The powdery iris is very much evident and it's carried through the fragrance by an almost minty citrus and sweet vanilla drydown. I found it an interesting fusion of the older turn-of-the-century classics I've tried and the more trendy new ones, but I don't know if I'd buy a whole bottle just yet. I'd like to try the EDP version first.

Great and very elegant fragrance. I cannot agree on a possible overdose of the Edp, it´s not that strong in my opinion and experience.

I really wanted to like this, as I love Prada's Iris. However, on me this was very one note. And sadly that note smelled a lot like Jean Nate! Yikes. Not for me.

I honestly didn't know what I was getting into by buying this perfume. It's bold & mature & long lasting. It's a lovely scent.

Iris Nobile has very noble name. It's strong, powdery and smells of iris very much. At first, the top notes and heart notes smell just like the Latvian perfume Intrigue N.1 which I left at grandma's. That one was extremely powdery, a killer scent.
Iris Nobile is real retro scent. It can seem very old fashioned to light, sweet perfume lovers, anyway this one has character and very noble personality.
Then after hours it goes more into sweet side. It has chypre feeling to it too. I was like love it, like it... oh, I own 1 like that! It's worth the price, because lasting power and sillage also is very good (I tried EDP).
Bottle is nice, minimalistic with a taste.
I'd recommend it to strong mature women or for those who aren't afraid of strong personalities.

Perhaps it's the Ylang Ylang or the bergamot and tangerine, but this smells very aggressively perfume-y on my skin and very little like iris. Sort of comes across synthetic and shouting. Zoka is right: go easy, if this works for you. For me, it just doesn't work at all. Blame chemistry, I guess.

Intoxicating mix of tuberose, ylang-ylang, mimosa and a touch of iris. Very nice rounded fragrance, not for a shy person, but not quite so loud like Piguet Fracas. For me it's in the same category like Guerlain Mahora... I think it is better suited for a special occasion or evening wear.

What a lovely scent! It starts light, calm and powdery and there are charming jasmin and tuberose notes in the heart. I'm not very fond of tuberose in fragances because I don't find any scent to be similar to the real flower, but tuberose here is cozy and subtle, a scent very familiar to me (in Spain it's easy to smell the "galán de noche" -tuberose- in gardens in the evenings).

I don't know which one I have smelt (EDP or EDT) but I think it was EDT and I loved it. It's in my wishlist.

jeca

I admire this perfume, it's one of the most beautiful perfumes based on iris, which is sweet, powdery, refined, so Nobile ;o)

zoka

Be very careful with EDP it does not allow strong dose because it can kill surrounding people. EDT is a bit softer.
