Short review, based on seeing other’s experiences. I bought this a few months ago and after checking the batch code, found out my bottle is ten years old. Dark juice, but unfortunately due to its age, all I smell is strong alcohol at first with only sandlewood / benzoin remaining. So yes, bad experiences could indeed be down to the age of the fragrance. I wouldn’t call mine “spoiled” or “off”; it’s just flat and one dimensional.

I’m still able to use it as a layering tool, which at such a low price point I actually don’t mind. Although I would’ve preferred to experience the whole scent profile, the sandlewood is still nice.

madiidii25

This isnt safe blind buy.
At firsts- smells warm but old. Something i dont like in it. Maybe its marigold notes idk. It could be unisex smell for sure.
Edited after week - when layered with sweet fragrance its like base warm scent .

jadepo21

What a warm, seductive, intoxicating fragrance. Cannot believe this costs what it costs. It's just a perfect unisex winter scent. It's the words 'cozy' and 'sexy' personified. I do think it leans slightly masculine, especially in the opening, so I layer with Kayali Vanilla 28 and it is perfection.

FavourO

This is a really nice perfume. It shines in the dry down the most (it has a creamy sandalwood & vanilla smell), so don't write it off immediately if you don't like the marigold & spices when you spray it initially.

KateWest

This was a strong resin/sandewood/vanilla when i first purchased but the heaviness of the fragrance has died down and the florals are now quite prominent. Pretty sure the longer you let this mascerate, the more the florals will come out.

ThePourEm

Bottom line: extremely woody, piney, alcoholic cleaning product. Zero vanilla, zero rose, zero jasmine.

I had high hopes and am absolutely crushed... and revolted. This is the first perfume that's forced me to question if the problem is my skin chemistry or if my bottle is off/old/expired.

Starts with an intense burst of bitter alcohol. Specially, Malört. After the nasty liquor subsides it's ALL wood, but too sharp, too piney, not warm or creamy at all. Imagine sticking your head in a cedar chest but someone spilled retro shaving cream and pine sol inside. Not feminine at all.

I even let it sit in the dark closet for a few weeks but nothing improved. Is this what expired perfume smells like? I'm going crazy. Will be getting rid of. Thankfully only $11.

I have been looking for perfumes that smell similar to Samsara (which is one of my favourites, but is far too expensive for me now). Some reviewers on here said that this perfume had a similar scent to Samsara so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately I do not see the similarity to Samsara myself, I would say it is more like CK Obsession only a little more floral and not quite as spicy . It also (on me) isn't a very strong scent, but it does last a long time. I do like this perfume and don't regret buying it (it was good value for money at £14.83 for 100ml), but I am still searching for something more like Samsara.

Scorpio Queen

What a surprise this turned out to be. Not what I was expecting at all but I do like it a lot. I was looking for an inexpensive perfume containing a predominant note of sandalwood (I love it ) and my search led me to Adam Levine for women. It is clear from the reviews on line that it is a polarising perfume, you either love it or hate it. Like I said, I didn't get what I expected or hoped for but am very pleased with my blind buy. To my nose at least, Sandalwood doesn't make it's appearance until the dry-down and it's a different sandalwood to what I'm use to. The only notes I pick up on are saffron, marigold, vanilla and benzoin. Saffron is a note I have come to strongly dislike from other perfumes I've tried in the past, but in this one it is well blended and compliments the other notes.

Adam Levine for Women is a strong and powerful fragrance, so not for the feint of heart and not to be sprayed with wild abandon, for your sake as well as others lol. Two sprays of this is more than enough. This is a high-quality scent and beautiful in its own right. And I I can say unequivocally that it smells far more expensive than its price: more high end or even Niche. Mine cost £20 for a massive 100ml, which is insane given the uniqueness and quality of it. The added bonus is not many people will have come across it and therefore there won't be many people around you wearing it either.

Now to describe the actual scent itself. Nobody has mentioned it has a deep and rich booziness to it, as well as smokiness? The booziness coming from the Benzoin and the smokiness from the benzoin and vanilla combined. The vanilla is gorgeous, like in its purest form, and the bright and fiery marigold note gives it such uniqueness. There is one season that this fragrance was absolutely made for and that is autumn: it conjures up in my mind the image of crisp, colourful, fallen leaves all around you, and the aroma of a burning fire. If it had a colour it would be a hot, spicy and fiery red. Both feminine and masculine in equal measure, this fragrance is one of a kind. A stunning and sexy scent. Give it a try.

Blossomlove

Just purchased for $9-review to come! I'm really hoping for Santal Blush vibes!

Noveight

Sandalwood, vanilla, and spices. Smells cozy and comforting. Very long-lasting and affordable!

dj71

Bought a sample of this. This is pleasant enough, especially for the price. But, to my nose this smells sort of waxy...like a creamy coconut scented candle. On my skin, the coconut smell is most prominent (even if there's no coconut note, that's all I'm smelling here.). I'm not getting much floral or woody notes with this one.

smccmurphy

I think I’m learning that sandalwood smells a bit off on my skin chemistry, so unfortunately this is a miss for me.

Mystinguette

For a celebrity fragrance, this one surprised me. I really like it. In my opinion, this is a unisex fragrance although marketed to women. On my skin, the sandalwood and jasmine are most prominent. I don't get any spice or citrus. I find it to be a soft, "safe" scent that I do indeed like. It's great value for money as well. I didn't have high expectations for this one but was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. Safe blind buy.

simonara85

Wow! I paid about 5€ for 50 ml and it is amazing! Great cheapie for sure! 🥰

IngridYlva

This is special. Reminds me of being outdoors by a northern Swedish lake in early autumn - it does not actually mimic the amazing scent of Labrador Tea flowers (Rhododendron tomentosum), but maybe the leaves together with wilting grass and fallen leaves on a dry, sunny day? Really sweet woods in this one - spices stay in the background but hold everything together. For spicier alternatives for women I’d recommend Eternity Flame (for Men) or Intimately Beckham (for Men) or Burberry Hero EdP (for Men…), all super addictive! Adam Levine is more like that crisp day outdoors when leaves are turning yellow. Oh! Super tip: layer Adam Levine for Women with Aquolina Pink Sugar Red Velvet for the ultimate winter scent!! A cloud of amazing to just keep inhaling.

Romyy93

I've just ordered this blindly going off the reviews.
Also, such a cheapie that's supposed to be a dupe to a perfume that's over a 100 bucks?! Count me in!

Will be updating as soon as I have tested it!

EDIT
Ok so it's in! I love it, but it takes some getting used to! It's slightly more (soapy) floral than I'm used to, but I'll try layering it with a vanilla to see how it works on me.

If you take Versace Crystal Noir, and you amped up the woodiness x2, and add a bunch of white flowers and jasmin, this is what you'd get.

This holds the EXACT middle between a 'rich bitch'-perfume and a cozy gourmand for fall, leaning just a tad bit more towards the first. Very well executed, and original! Because of this combination, I would personally classify this as 'niche'. If I didn't know this was a celebrity perfume, I would have never guessed.

Not totally safe blind buy, but if you're feeling adventurous and can appreciate woody unisex leaning scents, go for it! For this price it's a steal!

Edit 2
Soapiness gets more and more in the background as time goes by. It becomes more of a skin scent, a day at the beach where you've lathered yourself with Hawaiian Tropic but you've also gone for a swim and there's some sand on your arms, your skin is warmed by the sun. This is what your arm would smell like (though not at all sunscreen like!)

I'm loving it more and more as I wear it. It's so good, and hella underrated. I don't understand how no-one (on perfumetok) is talking about it. Blows my mind!

MSita

It's alright for the price but there is still something that doesn't click. The first sniff is strong and vintage leaning, maybe due to the marigold. After a few minutes, it's warm spices and wood that stays close to the skin. I can barely feel the vanilla.

EDIT
I finished the sample and towards the end was more creamy (coconut??) and sweet. It's soft and calming.

Phantomias

Rich, spicy-smooth unisex frag. Surprisingly good for the price! Performance could be better, this one's a heavy sprayer.

deliberateangel

This is an edit. I originally loved this perfume. It's not like smooth and creamy sandalwood with some amber. But as the bottle settled, some other notes became a prominent. For the first two three applications come on the smelt amazing. But after that I would spray this on but my end I'm assuming the flowers and spices amped this into something unholy.
It was extremely strong and the more I wore it the stronger the smell got. It gave me a headache and was really not a good smell.
I passed this bottle onto my mother and she had the same exact experience. If you have the right body chemistry I imagine this perfume is amazing. If it doesn't work for you, then it's definitely going to be an experience from hell.

SnowIce

Very close to Lattafa Raghba. However, this is more pungent

cgaleb

I like this perfume. It’s woody, spicy, sweetness is one of my favorite scent profiles. I only get about 3 hours of wear, but for the first 2 hours it projects quite nicely before becoming a skin scent. The price is really good, too, if purchased from discounters. Definitely works best in fall and winter.

xoxoMyke

I am truly blown away at the cost of this thing. It smells way more expensive than what it costs. With some fine-tuning, I could totally see an "it" designer releasing this scent and it would have the masses clamoring with excitement.

This is one of thee loveliest fragrances I've encountered - soft, fresh spicy, warm, musky, and faintly sweet.

The opening is pure "lip stick" and marigold rounded out with sweetness. The marigold and "lip stick" accord submit to a warm musk with spice and sweet edges.

The opening is very feminine, but it does lean towards masculine unisex. I'm a heavy handed sprayer, but this isn't something I overspray... it gets overwhelming and two sprays is just enough for me. Get a bottle before it's permanently discontinued and a bottle costs you $140 vs $10... lest we forget Madonna's Truth or Dare and its untimely demise!

laila26

This is a little outside of my comfort zone, I received this because it came in a set of perfumes that someone was selling. I think this is pretty unisex, perhaps even leaning into "masculine" for me. I think I'm going to try revisiting this as it gets colder where I live.

SweetJhane

I have to say that I love Sensuous more than any perfume I’ve ever had. The original version was so perfect for me, but I still love it even though it has been reformulated at least twice. Right next to it in my top 5 are my most-mourned scents - the original Organza Indecence and the discontinued Spark by Liz Claiborne. That said, Adam Levine for Women is not a dupe for the honeyed, deep, woody, amber joy that is Sensuous, but that’s just fine. It doesn’t have to be. AL definitely resembles it, but it’s a great perfume in its own right. Oddly enough, I couldn’t bear it for the first two months I had it. It was a blind buy that I thought was a failure. I kept trying it every now and then, but it smelled just awful on me - wet hay and Grey Flannel. I put it away for nearly a year, and while getting together items to donate to the thrift store, I pulled it out of exile and tried it again. Oh my, I was so glad I did! Beautiful!! Amazing performance! I went a little crazy with it and applied it each day in the morning and before bed for a solid week. I simply can’t believe the bargain price of this gem. If you like Sensuous, to me there is a soapiness in AL in the first couple of hours that is never present in Sensuous. AL is drier, a little stand-offish, and not as rich, but quite similar to Sensuous while still being very beautiful in itself. The performance is just outstanding. I have a back-up bottle and plan to order a second. This perfume may be the best thing Adam Levine ever produced, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

rene.saller

As a longtime devotee of the original EL Sensuous, I'm always looking for similar scents that I might like as much or better, so I put aside my aversion to Adam Levine's music and overall mien after hearing that his juice was remarkably like Sensuous, and I bought a bottle blind (in my defense, it was heavily discounted online). I find the bottle slightly cheesy (a microphone: you're a singer, I get it, but please don't remind me) but the packaging was weirdly nice and highly functional for a cheapie, and the fragrance is indeed a hell of a lot like Sensuous, something I really did not want to admit. It might even be a bit stronger than the current formulation of Sensuous, which doesn't seem to last on me nearly as long as it did back when my FIL gave me my first bottle, in 2008 or 2009 or thereabouts. (I don't wear it that often, so I know it's not anosmia by overuse). And perhaps most like Sensuous, Adam Levine for Women has a name that I find deeply embarrassing to say out loud, should anyone ask me what scent I'm wearing.

For years Sensuous was the only scent quite like it, but it would appear that AL and others have bit its steez. Fine by me, because I really like that sweet balsamic peppery sandalwood note on my skin. It's a bit of a break from my usual ultra-femme florals, and I like to reset my olfactory receptors sometimes. The two fragrances are not exactly the same. ALfW has (at least to my nose) a more dominant jasmine note in the drydown, with somewhat less honey and pepper. Sensuous smells a bit drier and less "perfumey," and I think the sandalwood accord might be composed of slightly better ingredients (not that I am capable of discerning necessarily). I'm pretty sure they are both discontinued now (EL Sensuous is for sure), but one is heavily discounted and the other is more expensive than ever and likely to get more so as the supply shrinks. I feel less compelled to look for backups of Sensuous knowing that alternatives exist, cheaper ones with names that are only equally embarrassing.

Update: I just looked up the nose, and it's Yann Vasnier. I like that so much I am going to refer to this perfume as Yann Vasnier for Women. Problem solved!

Update: I ordered a larger bottle because this actually outperforms Sensuous in its current formulation, and I'd say I like it about 85% to 90% as much as Sensuous in its glory days, so what the hell? I have enough room in the cold locker.

AquaRegia

In a limitless realm of scents, "Adam Levine for Women" defies namesake bounds, embracing all genders. The bottle looks like a rockstar’s mic, while the fragrance is a map leading to uncharted unity. Imagine a scent where spices entwine with marigold, a prelude to a warm journey. Australian sandalwood steals the show, a cozy embrace of earthiness.

Affordable yet opulent, it leaves aromatic whispers on fabrics, a fragrant secret keeper. As autumn arrives, it radiates warmth, filling spaces with its allure. Elegance and sophistication blend, crafting a chic aura that captivates subtly. Floral-woody amber evokes a distant Hindu puja, merging devotion with grace.

Grimdeux

This one smells like how marigold looks (because the real flower doesn't smell much?): you get saffron, very gentle spice, not a blast, and then the boozy sandalwood kicks in before easing into a warm vanilla, and oh wow, I really love this.

The juice is also dark cinnamon in color, not pale peach like the picture. It's addictive, and different, my go-to comfort frag. Fantastic stuff.

Folkartjane

Amazing for the price. A Tomboy-ish fragrance.
I’m a mixer. I love this mixed with Woods of Windsor Rose. Too heavy for summer for me but it is a great autumnal and winter fragrance. I will buy again.

LadyT33

I wore this years ago and remembered getting a lot of compliments on it. I recently bought another bottle for $10 dollars. The juice is a dark and syrupy. This fragrance is very boozy. It reminds me of aged bourbon, which I love. Starts out with a lot of marigold then dries down to a vanilla and sandalwood finish. It’s very cozy. Like putting on a soft cardigan when you feel a chill. Best to wear when it starts getting cold.

Ian157

A really solid oriental fragrance, moderate projection and lasts well, nothing earth shattering about it but a good pleasant fragrance

hblakes70

Hmm I kinda like it. It’s not that strong and I like strong but I’ve only had it on a few mins. It’s blended nice. Totally unisex. I’m trying to think about what would smell nice blended with this? It feels like it’s missing a touch of something sweet? But it’s really nice. Not great, but something diff I didn’t have in my collection and better than spending 300 for sandalwood! A good sandalwood scent that I get no dill from! Yay! I’m feeling the same thing Dollface said below me…it really does grow on you! First sniff from bottle? Ehh ok not horrible first spray ok not bad and no dill…few mins later mmm ok I like this! And true no sugary sweet celeb crap. I don’t like overly sweet I do like spicy and woody and this is giving that…maybe not as strong as my 80s favs ha but nice very nice and def worth the $17 bucks i spent for 3.4 oz. It does seem similar to Tom Ford Santal blush sample I had so win win ha! Also someone said obsession…ok it smells similar to womens obsession withOUT the strong headache note ( I think no oak moss) it does not smell as sexy as the mens obsession mens obsession was sweet and spicy really cinnamony this one? No a bit spicy but def dif than obsession this is more wood focused and mens obsession ( which I do love ) is more spicy and old school man.

D0LLFACE

I just got this and I really like it. It reminds me of a Byredo scent that I have previously smelled from a bunch of samples I bought in a lot. I can’t remember which one, but it was the mulled spices one that I said I would love to have for Christmas. Byredo is not in my price range so this is a nice alternative. Very spicy, I smell the sandalwood, it’s not for everyone but I appreciate this type of scent from a celebrity. He didn’t go straight to the sugary sweets to get the numbers. Oh yes I like this a lot I keep sniffing my wrist. Glad I got my hands on this and at 9 dollars on Amazon, I’d say it’s a steal.

FlowerSeeker

An interesting combination of scents. It’s different that what I usually wear. Also mild and unisex. I get the spices right from the start. Sandalwood and rose showed up a little later. But now two hours later there’s a sharp bitter scent and I’m not sure I like it. Gave it to the hubby and he likes it just fine.

chaseicons

does this not smell like a slightly used diaper to anyone else..? i tried to give it some time but it’s just so bad and if i wore it i’d feel self conscious

Estacey3

Don't know how to feel about this one. I've been on a roll trying cheap celebrity perfumes to see whose is good and who just went for the cash grab. This one I'm conflicted about because the top spice notes are effervescent (and very similar to the spices in CK Obsession) but evaporate within 30 seconds of spraying leaving a very masculine fresh spicy grassy scent. Not terrible but too masculine for me. However layering it with a sweeter floral perfume works to bring out those florals.

Midnight Raine

Interesting! On my shirt, this is a powdery, dusty floral.
On my skin it's a yummy combination of root beer and yellow flowers. Very happy I was able to track down a bottle!

The scent is quite soft; I wish it was stronger. Perhaps more sprays will fix that. I tried two.

HazelM17

A comfort scent for me, if you like warm and spicy scents with sandalwood, you would like this. it's not sweet at all to much nose and performs quite well.

ElysseKB

This perfume along with Indi are the best deals (under $15) that I've found for warm sensuous, artistic, complex and beautiful scents that smell much more expensive. It's ageless as well as my 21 year old daughter and I both like it.

este96

I don't know a lot about the chemistry of perfume, but now, in my later years, I have more time to pay attention to how perfume reacts.I used to write stuff off if I didn't love it at first sniff of the bottle. Conversely, some scents I LOVE in the bottle (Maggie Noir) turn bitter or unpleasant on my skin. I've observed that perfume changes over time & of course with exposure to light & air. Some perfume needs to be shaken & left to rest in a cool dark place.Looking to learn more now as I realize I've likely missed some good scents due to impatience!

KittyDeBeauvoir

I HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THIS PIECE OF PERFECTION, AND I AM ASHAMED.

I avoided (blind) buying this because of the top notes.
Spices, marigold, saffron, and citruses doesn't sound like a mixture that delights me. Spices (sorry, SPICES) is wildly vague - just makes me think of an old pantry. Marigold as a perfume note confuse me. I grow marigolds in my garden, and my Dad was King of the Marigolds (No joke, they gathered as a bouquet and crowned him) and... they don't really have a fragrance aside from 'vegetation'. Saffron is a bit hit-or-miss for me. In "BR540", it's fine. In "Agent Provocateur", it's unnoticeably (but that smells like pink musk sticks to me, so take that with a grain of salt), and I don't enjoy it in "Black Saffron". Citrus after all the spices? Weird, man.

I also avoided this because of Adam Levine, honestly.
I'm not a big fan. Like, I don't despise the guy, but he's never won me over with his acutely irritating singing voice, his terrible tattoos, and the less said about that God-awful bleached hair era, the better, I say.
But I don't despise him.

THIS PERFUME, THOUGH.
Sh*t, it's good.

I've slowly been developing a love of certain spicy, woody, arguably-unisex scents such as "Stash", "Santal Blush", "Santal 33", and "Sensuous" (why do they all start with S?! Conspiracy rising), and this is most definitely the sweetest out of them! It's not a lolly/sugary sweet. This is warm, honeyed, smooth vanilla (and benzoin, I suppose).

When I first bought it, I couldn't smell a thing. Not a single note. It had to sit a day or two to give off something. Truly, though, it has to sit on your skin to bloom. And bloom it does!

It starts with a sweet, salivatory woodiness. Just warm, sweet, sexy, and womanly!
Then it calms down a bit and becomes a *smidge* powdery...or even creamy!
The florals come out a tiny bit. Oddly, it makes me think of individual jasmine flowers and rose petals floating in a bowl of warmed oil in a dimly-lit room. Quite oriental.
All the time it has this beautiful sweetness that never overwhelms.

It's so much better on skin, I can't tell you.
I feel like I intoxicate the room when I wear this.
Whether I do or not is irrelevant. It's gives me that buzz, and that's hella important.

The box packaging is uninspiring, Jesus H. Christ. The bottle as a microphone is...understandable with a celebrity singer as the face, but still seems weird given the actual scent. As in, I don't understand what singing has to do with the perfume - is there an advertisement I don't know about that explains it all?

Longevity is pretty good.
Projection is okay - could be better. I want people in Antarctica to smell me when I wear this.

Repurchase-worthy!

I (41M) ordered this thinking I was buying the "men's" version. I've never tried the men's and this was cheap, just enough $ to reach the free shipping threshold, so I gave it a shot. I received it, unwrapped it, sprayed it on myself, and my very untrained nose smells Tom Ford's Black Orchid (which I like to wear). I looked over the packaging and sure enough, in very small print it says "for her" on the box. Well, sorry Adam, you belong to me now.

ponderbread

I kind of get the Santal Blush comparison but I don't think anyone would think of one as a replacement for the other. SB is austere and dry whereas the marigold makes AL almost juicy and a lot more uplifting, I think. Different scents for different moods and occasions.

milano1214

Wow I’m shooked… this reminds me of Un Bois Vanille Serge Lutens… and a lil gold sugar … I never tried the Tom ford comparison.. but I know Tom ford solel or whatever it was smelled like corn chips on me. This reminds my of coconut cake.. which I don’t love coconut because it reminds me of suntan lotion. But this is creamy and sugary on my skin.. for $10??? I’m good ☺️

Madyana

I have come to the same conclusion about using this as Flared Maple below. Sprayed like that, I think, this smells allmost like Stash, dreamy and soft.

suzanne_ronald

Contemporary EXOTIC SANDALWOOD. Signed by perfumer Yann Vasnier, this baby opens with a burst of spicy, buttery marigold with faint aromatic & citrus nuances, that deepens into a creamy sandalwood heart with floral touches from jasmine & rose, all resting on a benzoin-vanilla base. On the skin, I get additional creamy nutmeg, honey & ylang (not listed). Requires a few months of dark storage after first sprays, even with aged vanilla, for the sandalwood to be consistent (new bottle was touchy, sometimes pulling dill), and performance to develop. Above average performance with fantastic projection. Totally Addictive.

Contrast to Sensuous EDP Estee Lauder:
These are different but there are some similarities. ALFW has a much bolder approach with aromatic touches, Sensuous starts softer, building momentum, and dries down with more honey and a smoother approach. ALFW projects better in the opening, but both have good longevity.

Contrast to Secret Obsession Calvin Klein:
Similar oriental woody vibe with spicy sandalwood. While white florals and plum feature in Secret Obsession, the sandalwood drydowns are very similar. Both have above average performance.

Contrast to Samsara EDP Guerlain (OG):
Again a similar oriental woody vibe, but there is a vintage vibe and more forward ylang in Samsara, but the sandalwood drydowns are very similar.

Overall: Beautiful scent profile, with above average performance, this is the perfect scent to wear for an exotic vibe. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Flared Maple

I have had this perfume in my collection for a couple of months and honestly it was collecting dust because i was unsure about it. I thought it was too strong, sharp, nauseatingly sweet and headache inducing.

Then I gave it another chance.

First let me tell you, DO NOT over-spray this BEAST of a fragrance.
This is the only fragrance in my collection that I do the spray-in-the-air-and-walk-through-the-cloud technique with. Sometimes I also do three diffused sprays (spray from farther away so the area is lightly misted) one on each forearm and one on the back of the neck.
When applied lightly it lasts long, projects at arms length and smells amazing.

Such a creamy, soft powdery sandalwood, complimented by a sweet vanilla and warm spices.

This is “niche” complexity and performance for a bottom-shelf drugstore price.

Since learning how to apply this fragrance I even sometimes CRAVE the velvety sandalwood this offers.

I'm convinced at least some of the bad reviews here are due to over-spraying, because this is an aggressive powerhouse that is easily over-sprayed.

LulaValentine

I just purchased a bottle of this for practically pennies on eBay. I am not sure if I’ll be keeping it or gifting it to my mother for her birthday in a few weeks. This looks like something more up her alley and all the hype around it has me excited to try it. My mom’s favorite fragrances are Black Orchid, [OG] Fendi by Fendi, and Paloma Picasso. I also mistakenly purchased a bottle of Velvet Orchid for her recently (I misread and thought it was Black Orchid) and she loves that one too. Hopefully this’ll be right for one of us! I’m thinking it’s gonna be her taste more than mine.

I’ll be back with an updated review!

Update: soooo, I think it’s quite nice. Slightly different from my usual but my perfume tastes are all over the map. I thought for sure my mom would love it but the look on her face was one of confusion. She adores TF frags and I told her this smells similar to one. She looked at the notes on here and decided that she thinks it’s the sandalwood that’s too overpowering, though it does dissipate some over time. She actually used a few sprays of my Kim Kardashian Pure Honey and said it helped mute the sandalwood. It was a successful blind buy for me surprisingly, but my mom is feeling a little meh about it. No worries though cause I’ve got a bottle of Narcisco Rodriguez For Her on the way and she has told me she wants to steal my bottle several times so success is near in this gifting bonanza!

Mystères du Château de Dé

Bargain priced unisex vaguely oriental in a handsome bottle. In the same family as the current formulation of Obsession but Adam Levin is more jasmine + vanilla and less petroleum tinged. I have a very high tolerance for budget jasmine. This also reminds me of current Rochas Tocade.

Gemsense, below, mentions candy cigarettes and I appreciate that reference. The style of the fragrance matches the style of the man - attractive, entertaining, insubstantial, put-on but likably so. Inked up bad boy who is really just a pretty boy. Candy cigarettes indeed.

Experiences will vary - a lot! - but hard to get worked up negatively when it costs less than a sandwich. New bottles are far from powerhouses, so must be watered down.

Saying again that I admire the witty bottle design - it's masculine but pretty, obviously a microphone but also phallic.

este96

I like this when I first spray it on, but then the vanilla amps WAAAYYYYY up & becomes nauseatingly sweet for me😞I envy those who can wear it well!

este96

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! An inexpensive blind buy, that’s quite pleasing! Most of my try’s have been disappointing, so I didn’t expect this to be different! A very soft, hay/ floral with a soft sweet vanilla dry down. On me the vanilla becomes stronger in minutes. I don’t really detect sandalwood…. Mostly vanilla. In the dry down it does remind me of CK Obsession, however I actually like this A-Lot more. I find Obsession heavy& cloying. This has a dried floral note with hay… that I actually like a lot. I’ve read some reviews that call it “dusty”…that’s accurate! Having been a florist I associate it with dried flowers & marigold. Smell a little rose at first spray. If I could use one word: SOFT. Inoffensive. Subtle. Just what I was hoping for☺️Good buy!!!

This should have been an instant hit with me for so many reasons. Price? Extremely affordable. (I know nothing about the celebrity behind the scent, so that didn't sway my opinion one way or another.) Spices, sandalwood, and jasmine? Bring it on. Created by the same nose that brought me three other perfumes I happen to enjoy immensely? Onto my skin it goes! What could *possibly* go wrong?

Famous last words...

My first impression was one of very dusty, indistinct florals. I was expecting spice and sandalwood, but this perfume was stubbornly refusing to deliver on either of those promises. If you've ever smelled a bouquet of roses that have been dried in order to preserve them... that's the direction this was beginning to take. Now, add about ten years' worth of dust (because the shriveled bouquet, desiccated and too fragile to touch, has been sitting on the same shelf for the better part of a decade for fear that it would disintegrate if its owner picked it up)... and you have something approximating the aroma that wafted off of my skin.

Did I say "wafted?" No, no... "wafted" is entirely too delicate a word for the projection and longevity I experienced. More like "assaulted my nostrils with an armada of dust bunnies." (I'll say one thing about this fragrance... it will not quit. I left it on for a full 24 hours, and it was still going strong the following morning. So, if you're one of the lucky people who wears this well, congratulations!)

I waited, as I usually do, figuring that things might change if I gave it some time.

And they did, a little. If I sniffed closely after about half an hour, I could smell a faint, but pleasant, sandalwood underneath the dusty rose petals. However, it departed shortly after it arrived; the dusty floral smell (for some reason, I feel like this is what Miss Havisham's wedding bouquet would have smelled like) remained, and it did not lose its potency.

Sadly, this one is a miss for me...

ingrid.superstar

This is a nice, softly powdery, sandalwood floriental. Though it has no tobacco, it bears some resemblance to Diptyque Volutes and SL Chergui in its extra-dry, floral, nutty, hay-like powderiness. Honestly, I am surprised this is a celebrity scent. Heaven knows what it has to do with the person of Adam Levine. It smells to me like something a soft-spoken pottery teacher would wear while she flits about the room checking on everyone's projects, leaving a blushing trail of this behind her. Another discount-store blind-buy that is both interesting and smells good.

(For other discount dabblers, here are some commonly spotted fragrances I would recommend: Ellen Tracy Bronze if you like powdery violets, Kim Kardashian Fleur Fatale if you like fruity roses, J Lo Glow if you like soapy scents, and Jessica Simpson Fancy if you like apricot, vanilla, and/or caramel.)

Cate777

It reminds me of a cola burp. Having said that, I do like it... but not cola burps. Especially for the price point. I get heavy saffron, vanilla and creamy sandalwood. This is my first testing, but so far it's lasted for 6 hours on my skin... which it sits close to. It's sweet and powdery on my skin which seems to change from person to person more than any other fragrance I've read reviews on. I do think it works well as a unisex fragrance for these times. Only slightly more feminine. Before I say this, know that it's been decades since I've smelled Tabu, but from what I remember of it.. this smells to me like a more modern, expensive take on that one for those old enough to remember swimming through that in the hall ways at school.

Goosegal999

I picked this up as a two-pack from Marshall’s. This was cheap enough for me to take a risk with blind-buying.
I’m just ok with this. Sometimes Jasmine reads like cat pee to me and I get that here. The cat-pee smell does go away quickly and the fragrance turns into a soft, sweet, almost waxy vanilla and sandalwood scent. The dry down is pleasant enough for me to keep the opened fragrance as a bedtime scent, however, I would not repurchase and will be gifting the second fragrance in the two-pack this a friend who enjoys Jasmine more.
Keep in mind Jasmine is a note that I personally often struggle with, so it really could just be my nose, but if you love Jasmine this is a nice fragrance for the price!

hotbaby1

Macys backstage has the small bottle for $5.99 if you like this fragrance. I do not, not a safe blind buy, not a crowd pleaser. If you like sweet scents this is not your fragrance. It smells masculine. Not sure where The below comment is coming from… this is not sweet.

Yes Malena

I love the bottle and it’s a great price, but it turned out to fall too sweetly on me. Muddled gourmand.

rusian88

Another great, solid perfume that is not really following the generic/mainstream style of Celebrity fragrances. This smells a lot more expensive than the market price, and the style of perfume composition is having a little resemblance of Estee Lauder's old releases, especially Bronze Goddess and Sensuous collection. However, of course Adam Levine for Women is a way more casual and lighter, while Estee Lauder's releases are more 'full-bodied', with a way more sweeter aroma.

Now, let's talk about the juice inside the bottle; to my untrained nose, this perfume can be described as 'spiced up sandalwood and benzoin'. Sandalwood is one of the very few woody note that my skin chemistry doesn't turn weird (usually my skin is having a very bad chemistry with woody note, but seems like sandalwood in this beauty, is an exception), and it sits very well with me when I use it. The spices in this perfume are quite noticeable from the start to the finish, but I can't really detect distinctive spice elements here. It's more like they have a several spices mixed up together, but it's very hard to separate it by each one individual note. The only spice note I can barely detect is star anise, but it's pretty shy and usually hidden by strong big players like sandalwood, and benzoin. I didn't really feel much of vanilla or floral notes, which I wish it was more presented. That being said, it's not really sweet perfume, but more of dry and slightly spicy, resinous oriental in nature.

I can see that this is a very good recommendation for those people who don't like sweet oriental. Even though this is marketed for women, I do see that it is a great option as an unisex fragrance because of the dry, spicy nature. Nothing floral or sweet in this perfume, but I do appreciate its unique charms even though it's not really my favourite type of scent (I usually prefer something that is light and fresh, citrusy kind of perfume for my own usage). If you like creamy sandalwood with a dry, resinous benzoin with nice waft of the spice mixtures, please give it a go.

The longevity is pretty good, and the silage is also not bad; I have experienced really bad celebrity perfumes that doesn't last and project, so compared to them, it's another thumbs up for me. In my humble opinion, it can be used for all seasons, except super hot and humid summer, but the best season will be during the winter.

enpointe

This is a perfume that people either love or hate. It has a strong scent, so it's hard to remain neutral. I would say it would be fine to blind buy if you strongly enjoy the notes described above (also it's less than $15 for 100ml), which I do. It is a heavy scent so would recommend for winter wearing and nights out only. I mean, it is a Jeremy Fragrance rec and I feel he does not have a tendency for shy fragrances.

As for the scent, it's called a sandalwood, but I honestly don't smell it. It's starting to make me question if I actually don't know what sandalwood is. To me, I smell the jasmine and vanilla/benzoin very prominently. It's a floral gourmand, and a thick and heavy one at that.

I see that it's being compared to TF Santal Blush, which I haven't smelled, but it's by the same perfumer and very similiar notes so I'm guessing they are giving the same vibe. However, from what I do know of TF scents, I'm guessing Adam Levine has much longer longevity. The day after, I still smell a powdery finish. I'm interested in Santal Blush because there is some unrefinement in Adam Levine that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe the blend is not quite right, or perhaps the notes could smell more complex and unique, but there is just something missing that tells me this perfume is not quite niche or designer. Regardless, it's very close and I am happy with the scent and purchase.

My bottle is much more amber than the gold liquid in the picture, but I'm guessing it's the vanilla and sandalwood evolving. I also have little floaters as well.

amg7613

What a find! I’ve heard great things about Adam Levine’s perfume - and how could I pass up a 3.4 and 1 oz bottle for $12.99? It’s an enveloping spicy, sandalwood, benzoin and vanilla powerhouse that will last at least 6 hours or more. It’s not cloying or overwhelming - it just lasts. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth. I also love how the bottle looks like an old fashioned microphone. He may not always make some of the best personal decisions, but his perfume wasn’t one of them.

SandyToess

Wow, this is so sooo similar to Sensuous, which I also own. This one is more vanilla forward sandalwood, whereas Sensuous is more creamy sandalwood. The difference is really VERY subtle. If you're on a budget definitely go for Adam Levine, the average people won't tell the difference. Unless you are a connoisseur, then maybe worth spending more on Este. I would be repurchasing AL in the future, for sure (£8 for 100ml!), it's one of the cheapie gems.

dualaokto

I kinda get the hype that mentioning this one as a cheap hidden gem with expensive smell. I obviously smell the creamy sandalwood, vanilla, some mild spices and the sweetness of benzoin. But there is something missing here that leaves this perfume as a second-rate, although it’s only one millimeter away from being a real deal.

I’d blame its poor silage / projection (at least on my skin). It’s too soft to notice, too shy in performance. Even as a bedtime scent, it’s barely detectable, unless you put some effort to sniff it on your skin. It’s a shame because I really wanted to love it as I can see its big potency.

temporal

Soft and quiet fragrance. Maybe because of the dominating marigold note, in the beginning it sounds like a green fragrance with a resinous background. To my nose, it is almost on the medical side, but far more soft and rounded. While developing, it gives a soft cashmere feeling with a light touch of vanilla. The composition is well built, no alcohol, no soap, no artificial smells. It is not a "cheap" fragrance. It has a potential to become a good everyday companion for introverts :) This fragrance might be more resinous and maybe will get some sweetness in warmer season.

I can not read the composition of this fragrance from the listed notes, if you blind-buy it, be fully prepared to get something different from what you have imagined.

Rosegold

As someone who wears a lot of woody scents, I picked this up hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Instead I am left feeling quite confused and saddened that this perfume is compared to sandalwood greats like Santa blush and santal majuscule. This doesn't smell like sandalwood (or any wood for that matter) at all. It’s kind of a nondescript ambery musky scent with slight flashes of generic “wood” that's sweetened by a synthetic jasmine note and has a fruity shampoo-like feel. I would say that it smells generically good but nothing special. This is touted as an expensive-smelling cheapie. I disagree and would argue that it smell like its price point. The good news is, you're getting exactly what you paid for!

Stephen N

A fellow fragrantica user Cesslee recommended I check this one out, because I have a love of both sandalwood and barbershop fragrances, saying this was a good find that combined both.

On my skin, the sandalwood note is there, but it's not the sharp and bright Australian sandalwood the note breakdown shows, it's a much softer and more synthetic sandalwood (most likely sandalore) with a healthy boost of a synthetic musk. What is throwing me off is the flowery soap smell that's hanging out in the mix. I don't have a lot of experience with flowery scents beyond knowing what jasmine and rose are advertised to smell like, so I'm not sure what I'm smelling; it's mildly sweet and powdery smelling. I don't get many spicy notes.

I don't see this as a fragrance I can pull off, it's slightly too feminine for me. However, if the right person was to come up to me wearing this, I would be hard pressed not to like it on them. :-)

Lovaloo

Fantastic sandalwood solinote perfume, it accurately recreates the smell of sandalwood. Spicy, powdery, subtly creamy, ambery, woody goodness.

In spite of the base notes, this perfume doesn't ever become cloying syrup. Texturally it stays dry, light, and powdery throughout its lifespan. I don't like syrupy bases so I have a lot of appreciation for this one. However, it's important to note that this perfume doesn't maintain the realistic sandalwood smell forever, it eventually fades to vanilla, jasmine, and benzoin.

It's known online for being a budget dupe for Tom Ford's Santal Blush, and it was made by the same perfumer, Yann Vasnier. My two cents? I'd say the opening is a somewhat convincing recreation of Santal Blush, but after 10 minutes I can tell I'm wearing a less sophisticated perfume. Santal Blush is $175 for 30 ml, and this is $10 for 100 ml, so I won't be complaining. It certainly doesn't smell "cheap" and it's better than a lot of expensive perfumes.

Great value for the price, and perfect for layering. I ended up nabbing a backup bottle while it was on discount.

Jwdp

Ugh. Not feeling this one at all, and I had high hopes for my blind buy. On my skin I get no sandalwood or spiciness, just cheap-smelling, vintage-y sweetness. I’ll be passing this one on. Not much lost, as it cost me $9.

Lipsticksuzie

I bought this due to the comparisons to EL Sensuous - and the fact it cost pennies.
I would say personally it’s not really like Sensuous however…. It’s very similar to Sensuous Nude! I swear I can smell coconut strongly from this scent although there’s no mention of it in the notes Anyone who is searching for the now discontinued Sensuous Nude might very well enjoy this. I would recommend though that you don’t pay a lot for this as you’ll need to top this one up regularly throughout the day.

SweetJhane

This is my second blind buy cheapie recently that has not worked out for me. There are many previously that have been great buys, so I’m not mad about it. The notes listed for AL do not bear any resemblance to this scent on me. I get hay and shampoo and Grey Flannel minus the beautiful violet. Very strange, and not in a good way!

BougieGirlShops

Starts off with a loud blast of sandalwood, but the dry down is very close to skin light vanilla with a smooth creamy sandalwood. Surprisingly, projection is not great even after 4 generous sprays to my wrist. It's a pretty fragrance, but I'm not getting a lot of the notes listed.

Bschelinder

Beautiful sandalwood and vanilla. Rich, warm, great silage and lasts all day. One of my favorite cold weather scents. Cozy and sexy at the same time. Smells expensive!

Shellyscents

Definitely get the similarity to Tom Ford fragrances. Black Orchid and BO parfum come to mind in the drydown. Upon reading reviews, I'm wondering if I should check out Santal Blush... Except they are changing up the packaging and scent (possibly- you know how it is- water down something to make more $)I have heard. 😒 I smelled that on paper and not on skin back before they did the clearish bottle and my taste in fragrance wasn't very developed. Kicking myself now, will get a fb of this, enjoying my sample. As far as Adam Levine- eh. A good fragrance is a good fragrance.

Fatima1219

This is a very SEXY scent! My husband loves this. To me, if the smell of sex was a perfume this would be it! This is very different--nothing in my collection resembles this fragrance. It is intoxicating and exhilarating--perfect for date night. It has great longevity and awesome projection. The fragrance is complex and in no way, a safe blind-buy. To my nose, it is earthy and spicy--not for the faint of heart. I bought this blindly, due to the array of reviews that I read. I am satisfied with the purchase.

ekrapf

I bought this as a blind buy online partially because of how cheap it was (around $8). At first spray I was repulsed, thinking it smelled old-lady ish. I put it to the back of the closet expecting to never see the light of day again. A few months went by and I decided to try it again. Much better this time around! A nicely blended powdery, warm, fall or even spring floral, that reminds me of the scented satchels that one would put in their drawers. No particular note stands out to me (other than blended white or light florals) as this is a well rounded mixture of notes. I’m not a fan of straightup jasmine scents, and this isn’t that. A little goes a long way.

TDSollog

I picked this up last year for $8 at a discounter last year. The bottle is cute, a microphone shape. But, that’s the only thing I like about it. I tried it several times last year though fall and winter, and it was “ok”, a generic sandalwood/ herbal scent. Minimal projection and lastied about 2 - 3 hours, tops. With the Adam Levine scandal this year, it “helped me” decide to move it out of my collection. It was “meh” as it was, but it really has to go.

Anamandy

On paper this smells just like, and only like, sandalwood to me. But on skin is when the transformation begins. It becomes resinous, spicy, a little sweet, a little floral, with a lovely creamy woodiness. Though I'm sure there is not a smidgen of real sandalwood here, I am very impressed with how natural they've managed to imitate that note. It's really just perfect. Still, I find the overall composition a little too low key and not as complex as something like vintage Samsara, which I prefer and is my standard to judge other sandalwood fragrances by. To be fair, I really haven't tried all that many sandalwood fragrances to be the best judge of that, but I do know what I like, and I love all the many facets of Samsara that is lacking here. While this is simple in comparison, I still like it, and think it will make a nice “I don't know what to wear today” dumb reach, (Oy, I have way too many of them already), as it is safe and sure not to offend anyone. It's also totally unisex and would work great as a layering fragrance too.
Despite its cheap price tag, it doesn't smell cheap, and I was amazed with the packaging. It's very well done. The lid of the bottle is shaped like a microphone, which is a really cute touch and very fitting for a singer's fragrance. I've purchased much more expensive perfumes, some actually niche, that weren't nearly half as well thought out (and smelled plenty of niche perfumes that didn't smell nearly half as nice either). So, you are certainly getting a bang for your buck with this one. Overall, while I'm glad to have tried this fragrance, if I had to do it over, I would take a pass on buying a bottle as I don't think I'll be using this much in the future. But since a small bottle only put me out for little more than the price of a sample, I'm not complaining.

Edit - This found a new home.

MCW7

This is definitely to me unisex. With that said. I got it in the mail, proceeded to spray it on. then right before the door I sprayed it on again. I went out for dinner. The bartender asked me is that you that smells so good? Normally I am resigned to Hey, if I don’t get a compliment I’m good. but it took me sideways cause she noticed it right away... this reminds me very much of Chanel although Chanel is more in your face.. best budget buy I have ever made. It smells expensive leans unisex to masculine, but still women can wear it and easily get away with it because it is for women .. it reminds me very much of Coco mademoiselle only lighter, not as sweet, and not in your face. Just a really good cheap buy that smells way more expensive than it is.

Heliga

This is so warm, spicy and comfortably cosy. The amount of sweetness is perfect, it takes some of the masculine edge off without making it overtly sugary. The blend is really smooth, which isn't always the case with woody scents in my opinion (this wood is almost silky). I found out that it's made by the same nose who mad Tom Ford Santal Blush, so I guess it makes sense that they're similar in scent and quality.

I think everything about this, from scent to longevity and packaging is really high quality. The value for the cost is unbeatable. I still understand why the rating is a bit low, it's not a typical celebrity scent so there can definitely be a bit of a mismatch between buyers and the product. It leans unisex, so if you're not into that it's probably not for you.

Lola78

Although I am a true lover of fruity-florals and gourmands, I wanted to get out of that box just for a bit and test something different. After reading some reviews and finding so many different opinions, I could not resist the curiosity of trying this myself. I blind-bought it for like 5 euros, so I knew I was not going to regret the purchase no matter what.

The juice is a sweet, spicy, syrupy, dense and oriental one and it gives me opulent Middle-Eastern vibes. Usually I deeply dislike marigold, but fortunately it does not bother me here. Initially, it is a bit heavy, but in the drydown it softens a bit. The frag is not sexy at all, not the femme fatale type. I feel like this couldn't have possibly been created with the purpose of seduction. It's just a rich warmness, but not in the cozy way either. Also, it's 100% unisex. If I were to smell this on a person and I was blindfolded, I could never be able to tell if it is a woman or a man.

Conclusion: I find it's incredibly hard to make up my mind about this one. It's very neutral to me, like I don't love it, but don't hate it either. There's nothing about it that I like and nothing I truly dislike as well. As a room scent it would be agreeable, although unlike other room or body scents, it does not have the ability to induce a certain mood. However, I wouldn't say I'd picture myself wearing this in social settings, while on a night out for example. I'll test it again while at home, but I highly doubt that it will grow on me.

Update: the far drydown has something off-putting. It's some harsh, deeply balsamic and resinous base that takes over and finally makes me wonder why on earth have I willingly put this on myself??
I feel like the guilty guy who has cheated on the love of his life with the shadiest, trashiest skunk he could find, just because of some exotic rumour. Thus, I shall return to my fruity-florals and gourmands, ask for forgiveness and hopefully never get tempted to commit such sins again. Cheers!

shalini mada

after going through so many reviews I bought this 100ml bottle for 9.32 euros in Italy.
as soon as you spray, you smell the beautiful citruses and spices. in around a few minutes it dries down to fantastic sandalwood with hints of marigold now and then.
skin: beautiful sillage of around 2 feet or so for a minimum of 3-4 hours and then dries down to a skin scent
clothes: one spray on the clothes will stay for more than 6 hours.
an excellent purchase for the price.

Sparkleball22

Oooooooh this is very unisex-! Comfort and coziness in a bottle. It comes in with dramatic flair, IMO! When I spray this the word that comes to mind is “buttery.”
I don’t really understand gaggy reactions to this but I respect the sensory experience of others- our sense of smell is very personal and opinionated! (EL Sensuous made me gag a few years back!) but my nose really loves this. I see a lot of people think they are similar?
If they are in the same family, this is the very palatable one to me, and reminds me of autumn and all the boozy, spicy, woodsy richer scents that the cool air inspires. There is a floral richness here, too, that could be creeping some noses out. I love it!!
My husband thought it’s a sexy night time smell. I hadn’t thought of that…? So that’s what his nose picked up. He thought it was hilarious that I was wearing “Adam Levine” perfume. Lol
I really don’t gravitate to this except in cool or cold weather. The dry down!!! It is magical. Wait for it. The woodier base gets smoky sort of? Anyway, I’m not saying anything new here, just giving my 2 cents. I think maybe noses not accustomed to rich, deep, resinous or powdery scents might say “ew” but that’s not stopping me from enjoying this for myself, and the price of a sandwich.

alKaori

nope nope nope
i love sandalwood scents (wish i could still get zara #1, it is a le labo 33 dupe)

this does not smell like sandalwood on me at all. super sweet, amber-musky --- something in it is the thing in perfumes that make me nauseous/headachey. not woody at all, more gourmand.

a big no, glad i only paid $15. edit - if you like this try hanae mori -- i realized the similarity when i decided to use this as a bathroom spray and found an empty bottle of hanae back of cabinet -- both are room sprays for me

angienotesjunkie

I had no idea that this existed, until it showed up in a 'This perfume reminds me of' on Estée Lauder Sensuous. That comparison and that Yann Vasnier is the nose behind this fragrance, convinced me to blind buy this one and I'm so glad that I did!

The packaging (once you remove the photo slip cover!) is quite nice. The box is minimalist as is the bottle, which is weighty with a well fitting silver cap, showcasing the amber juice inside.

This is a lovely creamy, spicy sandalwood. The Saffron and Marigold are there with a dry citrus note, like orange rind. I don't detect any Jasmine or Rose. The vanilla and Benzoin add a light, slightly boozy sweetness, which thankfully doesn't smother everything else, leaving the Sandalwood as the dominant note. Longevity and projection are both moderate.

I've only had this for a few days and have already been complimented a couple of times. One lady even asked if it was Estée Lauder 👌 Confirmation that this wonderful cheepy smells much more expensive than it is! My 100ml bottle came from Notino for just £8! I've already ordered another 2 bottles because know that I'll be using it a lot 😊

sravz

This is a such a horrible smell, nausea and tendency to take a shower. Regret the blind buy again. However my husband said it smells unisex so he thinks its mild mens perfume. He is going to use it occasionally. No matter how cheap it is please dont buy!

amyaz

Heavy sandalwood with a bit of spice and saffron. Not a fan personally. I guess I learned today I am not a fan of sandalwood.

franzisqueer

I hate to say it but yeah I got this because of Jeremy Fragrance. That being said, WOW this was a treat. A super cheap gorgeous creamy sandalwood. Def unique, I don't think this one is for everyone and probs not a great compliment puller but if you like sandalwood and want a really nice sandalwood frag for dirt cheap, here you go.

Sassy1

For an inexpensive perfume, this is simply divine.
No hairspray/alchohol blast to struggle through. The top does have a slightly boozy vibe to it which I'm thinking is the marigold. Reminds me of bourbon vanilla for sure.
Just a smooth, calm, creamy scent with only a tinge of citrus and incense. Best for fall and winter.
I bought 3.4oz for $12 bucks and I'll be using it all up.

I was bracing myself when I blind bought this, I thought this was gonna be challenging. In reality this is such an easy, warm and sweet little cheapie. Nothing scary here and almost the definition of "pleasant". I guess I was expecting a spicy, heavier, and possibly masculine leaning sandalwood. This perfume isn't dark at all; not "noir" in the slightest but more a rust gold honey vibe, just like the color of this juice when it's aged. I smell lots of citrus, warmer floral notes (marigold can smell weird to me but not here), sandalwood of course, and sweet benzoin. I've heard some strong reactions to this but I just don't find this offensive or over the top at all. Definitely unisex but maybe just slightly more femme to my nose. Better for fall and spring, the less extreme seasons that have a bit of a breeze. Sandalwood lovers should give this a shot, they're practically giving this stuff away. I don't think I'll reach for this but it's not a bad cheapie. EXCEPT the juice may stain beware!

Skinscents4Fusspots

Absolutely essential to try this on your skin and not judge it from the bottle or on a tester strip! I love sandalwood but don’t often wear wood-forward perfumes but this one might change that! It’s rubbish on paper but on skin…. Oh wow this is magical! If you like sandalwood you’d be crazy not to have this! I’m a real fan of Marigold in perfumes (Vera Wang Embrace Marigold Gardenia being one of my faves!) and to my nose, the deep drydown of this is slightly spiced and very sweet sandalwood and marigold. And it’s one that is cosy but not too heavy and so delicious that you’ll be sniffing yourself all day! It’s such a banging Autumn / Winter perfume and it’s only cheap because it’s got a Celebrity name on it. The quality is exceptional for the price….. in the uk you can get 100ml for £5! So good I might need a back up in case it gets discontinued, lol!

formerlolita

This was a steal- I think I got a gift set that had a full size and travel size bottle of this for 10 dollars. Imo this is a very unisex scent but that's why I'm obsessed with it. I feel like the scent profile could be cousins with BR540- perhaps because of the saffron note- but I think if you like that it's worth trying this one on for size.

It's a powdery ambery sandalwood dream that I love wearing in the autumn and winter months. The initial spray is a lot to my nose, but once the alcohol dissipates after a few minutes it really blossoms on my skin. I wish I could smell more of the vanilla than I do, but I think perhaps the benzoin, vanilla, and florals combine to give a vague sweetness to this. My guess it's either the rose or vanilla note that's giving my nose this powdery backdrop but I enjoy it because it keeps this from leaning too heavy. When I first purchased this I thought it was a bust. Sniffed it, felt like it was too masculine, didn't touch it for months but upon revisiting it I find it's a very appealing scent to my nose.

I will say for those on their perfume journey who havent ventured into these specific notes it might not be a hit. Something about the smell makes me think of someone older who exudes confidence. In my mind they are the type of person to wear a plain t-shirt and a leather jacket and just look effortlessly chic. For those who strictly love gourmands or flowerbombs this might be a miss but if you enjoy sandalwoods and ambers this is honestly a no-brainer for me. Love mine and glad I took the leap to buy it randomly at TJ Maxx.

Safyre365

I really love it!!! I think it will shine better in the cooler weather, but I wear whatever I want to year round. It smells beautiful to me and smells a lot more expensive that it was, even at its original, higher price. If I didn't know the price, I'd put this up there with other $130 perfumes. I bought 2 bottles at Ross for $9.99
I think it's perfectly unisex, so I wonder if that's why a lot of women don't like it? Maybe they associate the scent more with males?
It's a gorgeous, creamy sandalwood and Amber fragrance that's a somewhat spicy and balsamic vanilla!
Some of the bold florals are noticable like saffron & marigold, but they don't overwhelm the fragrance, just like the spices don't either. It's very well blended.
It's VERY long lasting with great sillage!
I hate that this got discontinued. I think it was probably from lack of enough marketing. I never heard about it until it was already at the discounter retailers.
I've never smelled Santal 33 by Le Labo, but a lot of people tell me that this smells just like it and the 2 smell just alike.

Noveight

Creamy vanilla sandalwood with some spices. This is not groundbreaking but it is absolutely beautiful, and worth way more than it's low price. On clothes, the longevity is eternal. I like to spray my soft sweaters with this stuff and it lasts for over 24 hours. This is one of those cheapie-gems I can't get enough of. I own more expensive fragrances, but the projection, longevity, and the smoothness of this fragrance is better than many pricey fragrances.

shenamedel

Adam Levine For Women fragrance is a soft cloudy peachy/peony smell to me, even though not listed as notes, & is mild to wear but has presence & wears well for over 10+ hours on my skin, & overall is a very comforting scent from day to night. & I have worn this all year round. To me, this would be a very safe & mild but enjoyable scent with about 3-4 sprays. If you liked Sonia Kashuk's Red Promisia, that's been discontinued, you will probably enjoy Adam Levine For Women, & can be purchased quite inexpensively online or in stores such as Burlington, Ross, Marshall's & TJ Maxx. Update: Even though Cardamom is not listed as a note, I definitely smell this & black tea as well. Still a much & well loved & comforting scent.

Ashminxie

I blind bought this based on the scents I love a woody smelling scent and it was on sale... but I HATE this! It smells like bourbon and when you spray it on it smells like you have been on heavy night of drinking, it's summer for us a so maybe the heat doesn't agree with it I'll try again in the winter but for now it's an absolute no from me.

sitingqueen

This is a very light woody oriental, but much less resinous than is typical in this category. My sense is that the florals (rose and jasmine) are not readily discernible, but included to keep the fragrance balanced and as a result I think it could be worn by men and women. This is dry, crisp and low key.
The sandalwood is the predominant note for me and lasts into the dry down. Can easily be worn in the summer and in an office setting. Sillage and longevity are moderate.
As the price is very inexpensive, it is worth trying as a blind buy.

*loves_shoes*

Sweeter, more floral, and way more feminine leaning than Santal blush.
Just directly compared the brown bottle SB, the pink bottle SB and this.
The 2 SBS are pretty much indistinguishable (still need to test longevity). And Adam Levine smells nothing like their rich woodiness to me.
Yes they both have sandalwood. But. It’s like comparing a steak to a burger just because they both contain beef.

hausofdarlingperfumier

This is some great juice. The bottle is tall and slender and the black tube that siphons the juice to the atomizer is black and chic. At first spray, there is a saffron and marigold blast 😀 pure sunlight. The sunlight continues with does of warm Amber, creamy sandalwood, heady jasmine, and spices that create those orange and purple flares during the first kisses of sunset. This is a performer and I have been pleased with the performance and sillage.

Ashmoore84_1

This scent is often compared to santal blush by t.ford and its similar but imo, its missing the oud. The absence of oud makes it smell very powdery to me. The AL for Her is definitely not a dupe.

chicagogirl

Super cheap on ebay, like in the 10 bucks for a 3.4 oz range. I never really cared about it despite seeing it all over ebay bc I find Adam Levine insufferable. But after I discovered I actually love Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black I bought it bc ppl said it was a dupe. Well, it's not lol. Not at all. I think this is a lot fresher, lighter and more clean than Nirvana Black. Nirvana Black is dark, smoky, mysterious. This is kind of bright sunshiney sandalwood. The sandalwood lasts only a few moments then the drydown is very fresh and warm. The drydown actually smells EXACTLY like Ponds facial cleaning wipes in the purple packaging. They are called "evening soothe". Not a bad scent at all, it is soft, light and fresh. But it's nothing like Nirvana Black! Overall I don't get a spicy vibe from it, I get a warm woody vibe.

ajrose

Mmmmm, yes this is nice. I get spicy, woody, soapy (Marigold?), boozy, vanilla….unique but inoffensive and wearable. It's not very long lasting but at least it was inexpensive!

floralwoodymusk

A crowd pleasing sandalwood at an unbeatable price. You can wear it to work, on a date, to the gym and you will leave a sillage of "well groomed yoga instructor." Highly recommended as a gift for any friends who are addicted to body sprays. It's good enough to be "real" perfume, but cheap enough to give away if it doesn't suit.

AllyMage

I dont like Adam Levine. But I am a sucker for saffron. I saw this perfume over and over again at both Ross and Burlington and never thought about it. One day I decided to look at the notes after seeing it was only 7.99 for a 100oz. I saw saffron and immediately was curious. Definitely worth it. Its a lovely perfume and I cant wait to try it out in the fall.

Astrid89

Ok, where to start?
I decided to spend some small amount of money on a few new cheap blind buys. I knew that I don't like fragrances from this spectrum (cognac color...I am more blue/green/clear, sometimes red type) but for some reason this one was "I need to have it". Intuition? At first when I sprey it on paper I was like "hell no!!! What was I thinking?". It was a smell of some liquor like cognac or similar. Very strong...and nothing else. Few hours later I decided to try it on my skin. WOW!!! As if I was using a completely different fragrance. Beautiful. So...
If you buy it you will get one warm, well blended parfume for no money. I will wear it in winter time (it's cozy) but also you can use it in summer if you dare (sexy). Can imagine a sexy woman in her late 20s, bossy woman in her 30s or 40s and a lady in her 50s to wear it. First picture was warm tone girl but I am pale and still love it 😂. I could say that it is a safe blind buy.
After all, Adam is known as a lover of women. He knew what he was doing/approves.

MaggieCindy

I find the start pretty messy, after 15-30 min on my skin, it's 80% watered down Coco Chanel eau de toilette with more sandalwood. It doesn't remind me of Sensuous, Samsara or Addict...

heather62

YIKES - NOT FOR ME. Picked up the 3.4 ounce plus a bonus 1 ounce for $9.99 at Ross today. I was expecting this perfume to be a bit more subtle. Subtle it is not - This perfume is your rich aunt who makes no excuses for wearing her full length fur as soon as there is a chill in the air. It is very bold when it is first sprayed. Smells like resin to me (not in a bad way). It does soften when you have had it on for a bit. I have gone nose blind to it now but no comments so far. Will update -

Kept the box. Going to regift to my mother who will love this. I did give the small bonus bottle to one of my best friends and it smelled wonderful on her.

Aisabelle

This luxurious smelling liquid is a gift for lovers of saffron and sandalwood. I cannot believe how inexpensive it is, and how elegant, especially for a celebrity fragrance. Most celebrity scents are absolutely awful. This is a jewel if you fancy orientals.

swedishmilk15

I was pumped to find this at Burlington even though the 100ML was $20 (twice the price I've seen it online.) Quickly snatched it up, only to discover the sprayer was broken once I got to my car and opened it. I returned it, but I'm glad I was able to get a whiff of it, I'm happy to know--it smells fantastic. I'm definitely going to purchase online for the tiny price. I think it smells strongly of sandalwood (which smells more sweet, resinous, and creamy than woody, if you don't believe me, buy a pure sandalwood perfume oil. I was surprised when I bought one, and discovered that the "woody" smells in a lot of perfumes are not coming from the sandalwood.) I also get the other spicy notes which are very pleasant. I don't think I own any other perfumes with a saffron note, so for the price, I'm gonna try again. With my limited testing, it reminds me of CK Obsession without the aromatics. Nice!

Update: my bottle arrived, it's pure bliss. The bottle and cap aren't too cheap looking, and the scent is fantastic, as I remembered from the store. Heavy on sandalwood and very feminine, warm, alluring.

*loves_shoes*

Edit 2: very, very similar to Craft and Glamour by Miller Harris, just slightly less fruity. Has that same sharp opening and sandal wood drydown. More similar to that than any of the other suggestions I’ve compared.

Edit: I can’t believe it but this has grown on me! Yes it’s a bit of an old fashioned floral perfumey smell at first. But. It projects really well, and turns into a sweet and slightly woody floral scent quite quickly, and it’s nice! I wore quite a few sprays to work, and this on one wrist and Santal Blush on the other, and the longer they were on the more similar they became. Still nothing really alike to my nose, but there is a similar woody feel about them, this being sweeter and more floral, and SB being warmer and creamier and smoother.
I will however wear this to work as it lasted all day and is nice after the first 30mins.

Original review.
How anyone could ever say this smells like Santal Blush is beyond me.
It smells vintage, like a vintage floral/spicy Chanel style perfume rather than a vintage Guerlain or something with sandalwood in.
It’s quite sharp rather than smooth, and not particularly warm, borderline aldehydic, and very dated (call it retro if you like).. Of that kind of type of smell. 70s/80s.
Mine is a dark orange colour, so I’m guessing it has vanilla in it but I can’t really smell much. I do get a bit of a sandalwoody vibe in the projection but not until the first 30 mins are over, and they are not great for me, I’m not sure if it’s worth suffering through to get there.
I rarely dislike things, but this is one of them. It’s just not my thing.
I really need to stop blind buying.
Edit: 3 hours later, and now it’s a skin scent, and powdery, with a sandalwood vibe. It is not the same sandalwood ingredient that is used in Santal Blush.or in BDK Gris charnel. Or Serge Lutens Santal majuscule. Or Dior Santal Noir. Or any of the other sandalwood fragrances I own or have sampled. I’m a bit obsessed with sandalwood, hence wanting to try this.so while it smells similar, whatever synthetic sandalwood this is I haven’t smelled the exact one before.
Update. I don’t give in. And, on spraying a good amount, bravely tonight, I do like it better than first impressions. But, it still has this kind of acrid smell for a good 30mins at least….maybe I’ve got an old bottle that hasn’t been stored well and the top notes have turned? I bought it from notino. Or maybe it’s the aromatic accord, that just makes it smell vintage to me. Or marigold, which is not something I’m familiar with.
But after the 30mins it’s actually quite pleasant! Sweeter, and quite interesting.
Not sure I’ll reach for it due to disliking the opening, but it’s interesting for sure. Makes me laugh that because of the vintage 80s vibe and slightly acrid note, I think it smells cheap, and others describe it as a niche type of offering. Fragrance is wonderful.

If you’re trying this spray a fair amount to really see how it smells in the projection rather than sniffing your skin. The projection is where it’s at.

I have been meaning to test this for ages, as a spicy sandalwood at a bargain price sounds right up my street. I was hesitant to blind buy it though since I suspected that the marigold and cinnamon would be too strong for me; however, now I've got it on my wrist I'm not finding anything strong about it whatsoever! It's extremely weak beyond belief, almost not there at all, and far from being screeching and overly spicy, most of what I get is actually a gentle, very unassuming jasmine. Truly a beautiful, soft floral scent with the merest hint of sandalwood underneath, but I can only smell it if I press my nose right to my wrist, whereas I was really hoping for something to totally envelop me. Still, in spite of it behaving like little more than a whisper on my skin, like an idiot, I went ahead and bought a bottle. It costs mere pennies and I think it will be great to layer with, since it won't stand alone.

So a lot of reviews that I read said that this is a very strong perfume so I bought Adam Levine For Her as a gift for someone that loves VERY STRONG perfumes. And she loved it! She even bought a back up as well. When she opened it, I sprayed it on myself as well and I smelled a VERY STRONG ALCOHOL smell.I smelled a lot of spices, a lot of sandalwood, a lot of jasmine, rose and a tiny bit of vanilla and I guess the warmth from the perfumes comes as well from the benzoin. It is a very good quality perfume that lasts and projects for a long time and the price is incredible , but you have to like VERY STRONG scents to like this. This is definitely NOT A SAFE BLIND BUY. You have to smell it first. It is an oriental amber warm woody floral perfume. If you like this you are lucky because for me it DIDN’T work out. After 5 minutes I went to wash it OFF. It’s WAY TOO STRONG HEAVY AND LOUD for me. I like sweet light and girly scents, so unfortunately I DONT like it. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a beautiful good quality perfume that is equal if not better of VERY EXPENSIVE perfumes, it just doesn’t work for me. I DONT LIKE IT. I hope my review helped you. By the way follow me on Instagram and Twitter and on my YouTube Catherine Ntemou

I’ve had this for months, and this is the first time I have worn it. think I bought the 100 ml bottle at Burlington for $7.99. It does smell more like a niche fragrance than a celebrity one due to the marigold and saffron. It choked me when I first sprayed it but 30 minutes later it’s dried down to a warm, powdery sandalwood that I like. It sits close to the skin, and I think it’s nice for wearing around the house on the weekends. It strikes me as a cool weather scent, but it’s light enough to wear anytime and the sillage is low, so i don’t imagine anyone would be bothered by it. It was well worth the $7.99 and I’ll use it now and then, but I wouldn’t buy another bottle because it’s not a favorite.

I did a ton of research and read a million reviews before deciding to buy this. I have given it time and come back to it and any man that says he smells spice and anything manly about this does not have the same nose that I have.. I am very much into deep incense oud smokey fragrances- so I may be a little biased. This thing is floral. I get zero spice or sandalwood.. it does not open with spice whatsoever and even when you come back to it .
it is floral and female. I don't hate it and I don't love it.. I have layered it with my om oil. I think that will make it usable. After everything I had read and the million video reviews I really thought I was going to be opening a spice bomb with a variation of the marigold and saffron.. that is not what my nose detects at all.. it is floral from beginning to end. I don't detect any spice in this thing and I am all about all perfume being unisex but I if I was a dude, I would feel like a woman wearing this! This is an odd one. I wear predominantly men's colognes and Middle Eastern type oils. I will have to come back for an edit once I have had it for a month or so. If you love marigold and saffron- you will passionately love this thing- if you hate those two you will throw it in the trash...

Stoicchild

The rumors are true. This does smell like Santal Blush. Oh what a beautiful scent it is! This is my first time ever blind buying a perfume based purely on reviews and omg I'm so glad I did. The only thing is it doesn't last long on me, it only lasted an hour, but it may last a long time on some people. Not everyone has the same skin. Some are saying it lasted a long time on them but I'm one of the unlucky ones. I could strongly smell it on me for an hour then I guess only others can tell if they can smell it on me or not.

I couldn't find this anywhere here in Australia at the local shops, so I ordered it from FragranceX for $32 ($17 AUD for the perfume rest is shipping cost). The best $32 I've ever spent. I bought a tester so it's the original formula and cheaper. I just took the "tester" sticker off, too easy! The bottle is beautifully made (=

Thanks to YOU guys <3

saponista

If you’re in the EU Notino has this on sale for less than €10 (5 Jun 2022). I have already ordered my backup bottle 🥰

Coriemulvey

No one likes this because they expected something totally different with the saffron and sandalwood… there is no Santal 33 vibe whatsoever. This isn’t a dill pickled sandalwood scent or anything like the other modern sandalwoods. It’s a spiced honey orange that reminds me of brewed orange spice celestial seasonings tea. I didn’t care for this at the beginning. I didn’t think much of it… but then I spent more time training my nose. When I revisited this fragrance 6 months later, I was impressed. If this was bottled by le’artisan, it would have been more successful. This reminds me of le’artisan’s fragrance style. The greatest thing about this fragrance is the cost combined with the unique notes. There are not very many discounted options when you love something more grown up and sensuous. It’s a warm spice.. you can’t find this option with an inexpensive middle eastern frag. Most affordable scents are overly sweet and not unique, I cannot think of one off the top of my head that is similar to this for this price. Considering a full bottle is currently 13 bucks, It won’t hurt to grab one for yourself while it’s cheap because it’s definitely discontinued.

Edit. A reviewer said above that they found Adam Levine to be insufferable.. and I agree. I had second hand embarrassment when he took off his shirt during that Super Bowl performance… those tattoos were so DUMB. what a try hard.

soniamcalear

Horrible Scent! Gardenia OVERLOAD. The 80’s is calling and wants this awful stuff back! Can’t Discontinue this fast enough, PLEASE!

kashmirattar

Have you ever had an ant infestation? This fragrance smells exactly like dead ants! I cracked up when I sprayed my skin for the first time, because I was instantly brought back to an infestation I battled in my college apartment. Dries down to the powdery starch on Necco Wafers.

I’d read good things about this, seen it recommended by many frag heads as a standout in the cheapie category. I did not hesitate to pick it up when I saw it for under $10 at TJ Maxx.

You may enjoy it, but if you pass by an exterminator and they laugh at you, you know why.

sodalite

Similar to Santal Blush, but it can’t compare to the real thing.

Tinabill

Affordable sensuous sandalwood.
AL starts with a bitter leathery citric blast (I guess from marigolds and saffron) then it unfolds to reveal a smooth creamy sandalwood, sweetened by vanilla and rounded by benzoin. The spices are not very obvious nor are the flowers but I guess they lend warmth and airiness respectively.
Comforting and enveloping overall in a sensuous way. Beautiful 💖

ademcjade

Like others have said, I bought this a few years ago (blind buy), wasn't terribly impressed, and put it away. Recent reviews had me looking for it, and I dug it out and have been wearing it the past couple of days. When I first sprayed it, I thought, "this is so familiar! A blast from the past" but couldn't quite think of what it was. Now I know, it's reminding me of Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific shampoo, or maybe Body On Tap shampoo, both of which I used and loved back in the 70s/80s. I think I would have picked up on this had it smelled this way when I first bought it, so maybe it needed to mellow a couple of years, I'm not sure. Either way, I love it now and if I see it cheap somewhere, I might have to get a backup.

ThatGothBBW

Ok so,I was going back and fourth on this fragrance for weeks/months now. I was literally driving myself crazy on weather to buy this,or not! I finally just said F it! and blind bought this.

And OH MAN! Let me tell you! I'm sooooooooo glad I did! This is absolutely beautiful!

I paid just under 11 dollars for a 1.7 ounce bottle that was brand new! (eBay) The bottle is gorgeous, and the cap stays on so nice and snug. The box is so sleek and chic.

ON MY SKIN,The marigolds are so prominent,I smell them from start to finish, they are absolutely beautiful! I get very mild jasmine. I get the vanilla, and benzoin. It's fruity, sweet, floral, and golden. It's definitely a warm gourmand fragrance.
With the notes listed, and the way things are blended,it almost has an underlying butterscotch smell. On myself, I do not get a lot of spices or sandalwood like everyone else (I'm glad for that) This smells like a sweet, cashmere sweater! Super comforting!

As for this being unisex,I really don't see this as a unisex fragrance. I think it may be a tad too sweet for a male, but that's just my opinion. For me it definitely leans more feminine.

All in all,I really think this is a winner! From the juice,to the bottle,to the design and font. My ONLY negative opinion with this fragrance is the lasting power. It doesn't last past three hours,on me. As for lasting power on clothing, not entirely sure.

I'm super happy none the less :)
Definitely worth it!

Alces Alces

My bottle is at least five years old. Today I ran across it when looking for something else and was so happy to have found it again that I sprayed it on despite the ninety degree weather we have right now. Wow this is good. Probably the best quality to price ratio out there. Aging has made mine even more buttery than I remember. I keep waiting for a phase of the dry down that "tells" this is inexpensive, but so far have never reached it. Rich creamy sandalwood and spice, so good. The most niche type celebrity scent I know about. Marigold is always a superior note, adds that touch of bitter moody interest.

Beauxpeep

I added this to my Amazon cart on a whim based on a forum thread about buttery fragrances. I figured for $14 it was worth taking a chance. Well…I can’t believe how much I like this perfume! Super warm and creamy woods - I don’t smell the spices a ton. It’s quite classy & smells more expensive than it is. And talk about buttery! It actually made my mouth water. I look forward to using it in layering to add a creamy butter element to my combos. 🤤

GirlOnFire

Strong alcohol upon first sprays. Otherwise, it reminds me of Tom Ford’s Santal Blush.

I wish it had better projection and sillage.

Sunshine_jaybird

Got this at Burlington, clearance for $5, heard alot of this and had to purchase. More clean, woody scent. Reminds me of another perfume, can't put my finger on it yet though! Good buy, would I purchase again, probably not, but overall happy with blind buy

blueally

Marigold seems to be headache inducing for me, but I adore its prominent sandalwood with powdery note. They are long-lasting - although they were a scrubber for me, the scent wouldn't leave. The after-scrub was a very soapy sandalwood. It smells classy and heavy, definitely not light-spirited. Would wear them if they were without the marigold note...

Carlitos

Does this perfume recall Stash? Yes, it does!
Does this perfume recall Santal Blush? Yes, it does!
Does this perfume recall Jeux De Peau? Yes, it does!
I wonder if this perfume recalls Gucci Pour Homme (2003)? Not really much, but it shows a vibe of it!
I wonder if the Adam Levine for Women price is similar to the price of any of the mentioned perfumes? Nah, not really!

Adam Levine for Women is an interesting enough very inexpensive perfume, with nice quality sandalwood, well-spiced, sprinkled with saffron, jasmine, marigold and powdery nuances, sweetened with vanilla and heated with benzoin. It is marketed as a feminine fragrance and bottled in a microphone shaped flask. The association with the name of rocker Adam Levine, lead singer and guitar of Maroon 5, also meant that this perfume was never taken seriously. This is not a feminine fragrance. Like Stash or Santal Blush, it is totally Unisex. Stash managed to rise to fame, but Adam Levine for Women has remained lost in the annals of time. Probably Sarah Jessica Parker appeals more to the masses than Adam Levine. As far as I am concerned, it is much to my taste and not at all generic.
Adam Levine for Women stands for an amber (or benzoin), woody, spicy, sexy, and slightly floral autumn/winter perfume. It reminds me of an autumn day with a warm jumper, coffee in hand and about to eat a slice of vanilla-scented pumpkin pie. This perfume is great for someone who loves a warm, spicy, woody scent. It's a little sweet too, and I consider it to have a unisex rather than feminine slant. It will disappoint any customer looking for a fresh and floral feminine scent.
It only disappoints me a little when it comes to performance. It quickly becomes a skin scent and a quite intimate one after 4 hours. It dries down very quickly, and when spraying, I can't smell much beyond an arm's length away from my skin. You'd better spray some puffs on your clothes as well.
It smells much more expensive than it is, and while it's not exotic, hot or revolutionary, I found it very relaxing and warm, and quite suitable for pretty much any occasion. It's certainly one of the more interesting celebrity fragrances as far as how well it works, not being a chemical disaster, too watery and weak, or otherwise a cloying candy mess. Although it doesn't have many notes, it's well blended and creates a very nice, warm envelope around it.
The perfumer was Yann Vasnier, who, among others, made some Tom Ford perfumes like Plum Japonais, Santal Blush and Black Orchid Parfum, among several other Tom Ford, Jo Malone and Mark Jacobs perfumes. Interestingly, he also made Toy Boy for Moschino. It's a quite appealing perfumer resumé.
The price is a real coup and some dealers are now trying to get rid of his stock. Enjoy this beautiful spicy sandalwood fragrance at a ripe banana price. It has a terrific value for money. I do certainly recommend it.

Good, cheap frag for all seasons, I think. Marigold, spices and woods ✔️❤️ very nice and soft - powdery scent.

irlfireprincess

This is an absolute STEAL for those who like this kind of perfume. I got my bottle for $13 for 3.4 oz/100mL on Amazon. Unfortunately, as someone who is just getting into fragrance, I learned that I do not, in fact, like this kind of perfume. The saffron in the opening is strong; it was overwhelming for me. It combined with the spices and something powdery - I think this may come from the saffron itself since it's in the iris family - to make a scent that, on my skin, reads VERY mature. Even at 29, I feel it is too mature for me. I wouldn't say this is a safe blind buy, but if you do end up getting it and not loving it, you aren't out much money at all!

If you want this, I have it for swap CONUS!

VivantRouge

This is the cheapest perfume I have ever owned. But it doesn't smell like it. It is surprisingly good. I blind bought it after reading fragrantica reviews and I was right! I can smell some similarities to Sensuous, but it's not a dupe of it. Great for cold afternoons. Warm, soft, not a typical celebrity scent. Amazing value, decent performance. I think it would work better for people over 30 :)

wondervalley666

Blind bought based on the note combination that seemed interesting and like something I’d wear. Did not buy for the celebrity attached. It was very inexpensive so I gave it a try—

It’s an intimate skin scent. Dries down very fast and can’t smell much beyond a few inches from the skin. Definitely a warm spicy amber scent with some musk. Not too spicy, unfortunately, as I love spicy scents. It’s sweet, but I’d consider it more unisex leaning. Overall I do like the scent, but it reminds me a bit too much of a scented wax air freshener, or more of a smell for a scented candle than a perfume. I’m pretty sure I bought a similar wax air freshener scent from Walmart awhile ago. Kind of has that warm amber date night spice market cashmere woods type of home scent fragrance, if you buy many of those scented wax cubes you probably know what I mean. I can’t see myself wearing it a lot, probably better suited for wearing while I’m relaxing or cleaning around the house. Unfortunately, it feels a little headache-y, something smells a bit synthetic here, so I don’t know how much I’ll be wearing it.

Update - I recently got a bottle of Yves Rocher's Voile d'Ocre, which is amazing and I instantly loved so much I ordered a backup. I discovered that is one of the "reminds me of" scents for Adam Levine. It does smell somewhat similar to AL, though a LOT better, a proper strength EDP, richer, spicier, more woody (despite the difference in listed notes). To me, Voile d'Ocre smells a lot closer to Katy Perry's Indie, with occasional faint Adam Levine notes, and occasional musks/sandawood notes of JHAG Sunny Side Up & Parle Moi Milky Musk. Voile D'Ocre does not give me a headache or smell cheap or synthetic at all, and has great performance, so I think I will be using that one instead of Indie and Adam Levine in the future. I also bought a mini of Sensuous, which to me doesn't smell like Adam Levine at all aside from that they're both sandalwood based. Sensuous is much more powdery, soft, reserved, classy and mature. Adam Levine is much more of an amber-y (or benzoin), spicy, sexy, and slightly floral autumn/winter scent. I plan on using Adam Levine as an air/room/linen freshener spray in the fall.

golden

I’ve been watching this one for some time. Unsure of weather or not to buy it!

This is a very strange perfume to me. It’s a chameleon, it morphs from one thing to another. It’s Spicy, No, it’s Floral, it’s Sweet, No it’s back to something I cannot understand?

There is a nice lady on YOUTUBE that describes this perfume perfectly. I forget her name now. Anyway, I’m not sure this is a safe blind buy? It’s opening is quite harsh, and dare I say it , quite plasticky smelling? This stays all the way through the development of this fine….. unfortunately. However, the floral notes that peak through, are really quite nice.
The jury is still out on this one? I need to test it, more. But first impressions, not so great!

It sits close to the skin, despite its loud opening. Unless you overspray, then you have a lovely scent bubble around you. Also doesn’t last too long on the skin, around, 3 /4 hours. This also gave me a bit of a rash! And I NEVER have gotten a skin rash from any of my perfume. Taken into account I’ve been wearing perfume since I was around 11/12 years old, and I’m now 51!!

I do not mean this badly...it actually reminds me of a coca~cola with out the fizzy carbonation...also like powder...maybe this would remind me of like being in a bar,in the middle of nowhere&dr!nking a flat coca cola &alot of powder sands blowing in my face&a richness of a lovely strong woman vintage style? Its actually well made,i cant wear it every day tho,its been in my closet &forgot to share my exp,it lasts long&you will have a good cloud around you strolling through the sand dunes~drinking a warm flat coca cola, with powder in my face,in a weird&smooth way~looked this up&its only the amount of a vial sample these days $10 i dont care for it honestly, yet it has this feminine smooth warm mysterious desert feel,i wear it only 2x a year...for the experience&calm warm effects it has on me,just not for daily wear, every now and then i guess. May try a splash of vanilla body spray in future though~

Just got this in the mail. I went to shower and moisturize, then I applied this scent. OMG. I really love this! A sandalwood bomb, which I think may give people the impression of it smelling unisex, which I do not agree with! This is very feminine, soft and sexy. Spicy. Slightly powdery. Peppery. But all done in a sweet femme way. I got the 1 oz off of eBay for $8.99. I love this bottle. The juice is dark and warm. I can't stop smelling myself. I think this can be worn year round.
Update: the sandalwood comforted me so much that I felt sleepy an hour after applying. I'm not mad, though.

puvana_5

I am in love with the perfume. The fragrance is so different, not like any other i owned. The dry down is so beautiful. The sandalwood is dominant and the floral notes. Somehow i can smell gardenia in it eventhough there is none in it. After much thought, decided to buy it after reading @echurch1979's review. Thanks.

AquaBaby5

A slightly more spiced and sweeter Jeux de Peau, which I own. I have less than a half bottle so I am always looking for it’s (eventual) future replacement. This is enough to satisfy when the mood strikes, it isn’t quite as unique as that one, but it is more similar than Santal Majuscule, Gris Charnel, or other fragrances with the same sandalwood note. Enjoying this :) and what’s funny is my husband prefers this to JdP and Gris Charnel. Price and that fact make it a win win.

Edit: I did a blind smell test with him yesterday, he thinks this is masculine enough for him to pull off (but he likes sweet, Black Phantom is in his top 3), but JdP is “more complex and better blended” but “too Gourmand” for him. I agree JdP is more bready and therefore more edible.

Later edit: ended up decluttering as this is a bit opaque for my taste and I decided that JdP and Gris Charnel were the winners of my enjoyment. Husband decided he didn’t enjoy it any longer for himself.

Gemsense

This isn't as strong in the icy cold freezing temperatures. I can actually wear it without getting those strong memory and headache inducing feelings. I actually like it more now, it's more feminine, softer. I usually like very strong scents but the saffron is sickening, so this is better when the cold temps drown out the saffron. The cola vibe is gone now too. Way easier to wear now.

Controlledbyscent31

Blind bought this today from tkmaxx, I'd heard good things over the years, I didn't even check the notes before hand which wouldnt of put me off either to be fair as I love alot of spice, rose and jasmine vanilla scents but WHAT A FAIL 🤮
this scent aswell as the pure OUD extrait from mfk are the most nauseating perfumes I've ever smelt, it was just too much of everything too my nose I jumped straight in the shower and chucked my clothes in the wash.

I can't stand it on me, it must be the spice + saffron + benzoin + marigold + sandalwood combined that I cannot tolerate.
I Do not recommend blind buying but then again its so cheap and I'm sure everyone knows someone who may appreciate it, It's very 80s like some have mentioned.
The bottle feels great quality I'll give it that as in well Made, weighty & a great atomiser but that's the only positive thing about this whole fragrance experience for me.
Another plus is that i can gift it to my 54 year old mother who adores original ysl opium, Calvin klein obsession, chanel coco (vintage) & secret obsession ck, I think this will be right up her street.

It is definitely a unisex scent in my opinion too.

**Even though it was a fail every blind buy fail teaches you something about your taste and notes that do or don't agree with your taste or skin chemistry, I still got the rush of adrenaline buying it and unwrapping it and exploring & testing it to see if its to my personal liking which is all the fun in this perfume addiction 😅, coz when you find one you absolutely love its all so worth it!**

Bought this yesterday after hearing about it here and after reading the notes. I like amber, sandalwood and vanilla so I thought I'd give it a try. To my nose, this isn't very spicy, instead it's a sweet, warm sandalwood amber with a hint of vanilla. I also get a touch of honey even though honey isn't listed in the notes.

Over the few hours I've been wearing AL, now it's spicier and I smell a little black pepper which is okay in my book.

It's warm and sweet and interesting. I think it has cloves in it as something is reminiscent of Chanel Coco, not Coco Mademoiselle but the Coco from the early 80's. The composition itself is not like Coco but there's just a little spice in there that makes me think of Coco.
I really really like it.

Update: After 7-8 hours of wear the spices are more present.

aym

This is a spicy sweet fragrance it reminds me of the Market Spice tea smell but without the tea. It lasts about 4 hrs

takema

This fragrance is a bit more interesting than a lot of the other celebrity fragrances out there. It has a bit of an 80's vintage vibe without smelling too dated. Unfortunately it lasts all of a minute on my skin. A slight exaggeration, but the opening hints at a powerhouse type of fragrance, but it settles into a skin scent within minutes and a only lasts a couple of hours. I can only smell it when I put nose to skin. I have tried overspraying it, to see if that helps with the performance. It works some, but on my skin the only note that stands out is the sandalwood and sandalwood as a dominant note rarely works for me. I find it harsh, sour and unpleasant.
Smelling it from the cap and spraying it on paper, I really like it. The spices and citrus opening is quite nice and the sandalwood is very subtle, even as it dries on paper. The vanilla and benzoin with still only a hint of the sandalwood make up a lot of the drydown. If it developed like this on my skin it would be a solid like for me, so I can see why many enjoy it.

For those who get better performance, I think this would make a great cheapie. A great fragrance for those who want to be reminded of those big spicy 80's fragrances, but don't want to smell like they are still in the 80's, this is a modern twist on that theme. If you already hate that style, you likely won't like this one either.

I think the bottle is actually well done. The bottle is a nice heavy glass, with a pretty good atomizer. The style is intended to resemble a microphone and does a great job. It's clearly a microphone without looking campy and cheap. A smart choice for a fragrance from a musician.

The style of this fragrance is fall/winter, but because it's not all that sweet and the performance is quite poor, I can see it worn in any weather. It's a fragrance marketed to women, but it's not overly feminine. I find it quite unisex. You can still find this at most discounters for a great price, under $20 for 100ml. So it might be worth the gamble if you like a warm spicy fragrance.

hexed

Warm but not heavy. If you'd like a LESS sweet & creamy take on sandalwood this is worth a try. This is closer to what I wanted from Crystal Noir when it comes to the spice, smooth and soothing, sort of a soft amber shade in my synesthetic imagination. Sort of dry and gritty and not-quite-lactonic at the same time. Makes me think of some type of tea as well? People claim it is distinctly unfeminine, I find it more fitting to say it's subtle. Celebrity fragrances marketed towards women tend to be anything but. It's not a masterpiece like SJP Stash but it's a comforting offering with a comfortable price.

fire2heart

I love this perfume! It's powdery, resinous, spicy and woodsy. I can see why some people think it's a throw back to the 80's. I love Obsession and Opium. This is not as loud as those are.
On me, it sits close to the skin and it fades within a few hours.
It's lovely for the fall and winter 🧡

amberonic

I love Tom Ford Santal Blush but not as much as I love a bargain so I had to give this a shot. $9 perfume smells like $9 perfume. It does smell *like* Santal Blush, but A.) lacks the depth and spiciness and B.) is primarily a floral perfume not a woody perfume.

kittyhousewife

So sad, the most I enjoyed this perfume was when I was washing it off in the shower 8 hours after applying it. I don't get any woods or spices on first application, just overwhelming talc and nauseating white florals. Instant headache in just 2 sprays! It reminded me of Cacharel LouLou at first, minus the fruit. After 5 hours, it was tolerable on my skin and some of the warm sandalwood and spice came out. The marigold was a new thing for me but I liked it here, in a kind of medicinal way. Right as I washed it off I got the pure sandalwood incense that was the whole reason I bought this. Wish it didn't take so long to be enjoyable for me.

nateya

I blind bought this because there were a lot of great reviews on YouTube and a lot of people said the vanilla smells nice in this. This is a HEAVY sandalwood perfume. It opens with sandalwood, it closes with sandalwood & it dries down with sandalwood. It reminds me of a incense. This was the first perfume that ever made my stomach turn. But I wanted to give it a fair chance and I tried wearing it. It smells rich, high quality, and deep but sandalwood isn’t something I want to just smell like. So I layered it with Bath & Body Works Vanilla Madagascar and man…. That body spray flourished. It enhanced it so much and the sandalwood note wasn’t as prominent. This is something I have to layer or else I can’t wear it. Trust me when I say, this is NOT a safe blind buy friends!!!

MrsMRe

Surprisingly high-quality fragrance for the price! AL opens with warm, slightly sweet, if indistinct, spice--cinnamon, ginger, and clove, maybe--and a lovely dry sandalwood that keeps it from smelling like pumpkin spice. The spices die away on the drydown, leaving a pleasant, linear sandalwood.

Kizzyb93

Okay so I had this scent and I hated it!
Yesterday A friend came over who was wearing this and I thought it was Penhaligon‘s halfetti And she said no it’s the Adam Levine perfume she had it in her purse and I said let me spray it on myself and it didn’t smell like Penhaligon‘s on me . I still hate it on myself but I guess on other people you get different type of vibe

Ashminxie

This was a blind buy as I was running low on a cheap everyday scent, I think I'm quite particular about what I like which is usually a warm woody slightly spicy perfume with a subtle sweet finish...Black xs by Paco Robanne being my favourite, that being said i love sandalwood so thought okay ill give this ago... right off the first spray i was a bit stunned by the kind of bourbon smell like Jack daniels but if you give it a minute or so to settle you can really smell the sandalwood it's also slightly musky and there's a note in here i don't think i like though which might be the Marigold as others have mentioned I've never had a marigold note in other perfumes before. so although this has been a bit of mixed review for the price i think it's good value i have tried a lot of cheap celeb perfumes and this one definitely smells more expensive than it is. 5/10

TabledThoughts

This fragrance comes right out of the gate smelling creamy and mature but not matronly.
The marigold and saffron are evident, no idea what spices note list alludes to, and the jasmine-sandalwood combo rounds things up making this rather heady and even a bit sexy.
Dries down to a skin scent.
Not a beast mode but at the very very inexpensive cost you can spray all over with abandon.

Juspaigeme

When I first sprayed it I smelled a syrupy dark liquor then once it dried down it became more woody and spicy with creamy sandalwood, rich vanilla, saffron and powdery benzoin. It says for her on the box but this smells completely unisex to me. Doesn’t lean one way or the other. For the price I did not expect much but this smells amazing. It lasts all day and has really great projection. This is a hidden gem.

Sunnydai

I usually like a very different kind of fragrance … But, I have been craving something spicy and much deeper for the Fall and Winter, I didn't want to spend a lot .... this was a very cheap blind buy and its amazing to me!
The spices, marigold and the sandalwood are very prominent to my nose and that combo is wonderful.
This reminds me of a TF type of fragrance or Versace's CN like SwnIn mentioned!
But spicier, smells much more expensive then it is .
It projects on my skin and and lasted at least 8 hours before turning into a lovely skin scent that still stays very warm with a bit sweetness. I'm also layering it with a vanilla cream to give it a bit more of the sweetness I enjoy. Its a new favorite for me.

fire2heart

I bought this in the summer and loved it. Rotated through my perfume collection and came back to this tonight. It's even cozier in the Autumn weather! It sits close to the skin within minutes of putting it on but that's part of the appeal! I have a lot of powerhouse perfumes, such as Vintage Opium and Vintage Obsession and they are amazing but sometimes you don't want a loud perfume on.
This is spicy, powdery (I love powder scents!) with a hint of floral Definitely a sweater weather scent!

SoleilE

For me this was a blind buy based on notes and reviews. I like this fragrance, it is soft, warm, to me a little sandalwoody, vanilla, not particularly floral or spicy just soft, warm and pleasant smelling. Definitly Unisex to my nose, I think this would smell lovely on a man or a woman. Longevity is not good, definitly have to respray which I dont like even when a perfume is inexpensive because much nicer when you can spray and go and smell nice all day like with for example Calvin Kleins Obsession which is a beast and which by the way if you like this you will like that and vice versa I think. Not that they smell the same just in the same vein in my opinion, Obsession lasts forever though, dont have to respray all day long. And also very affordable now.

Mikejla79

I bought this fragrance 2 days ago and I love it. It was very cheap but doesn't smell cheap at all. I could bathe in this scent, I want my whole autumn and winter to smell cozy, spicy and warm like this fragrance. I was looking for something like this one and oh my, thank you people who write reviews on Fragrantica because your comments made me buy it. I love this scent. I know I will use it a lot this Fall and Winter.

giri-boni

Just got this as a gift. What a nice scent! It opens EXACTLY like oak barrels. I am an enologist and I have worked surrounded by them for years and that is the PUREST smell of clean, nice oak I have ever smelled. Slightly masculine in this beggining. And then.... sandalwood arrives, creamy, milky. Very chic, office safe, elegant perfume! If you like Samsara you might want to try this one too. It could be Samsara L'Eau

Aeiris81

Wearing this on an autumn rainy day and it is absolutely beautiful. I've been avoiding it all summer because it somehow smelled like flowers and vanilla died in a puddle of gasoline. But today...hello to sandalwood deliciousness and mellow vanilla sweetness. Definitely a scent for colder weather, ideally rainy days.

Phantomias

ALfW is a nice, inoffensive fragrance. Easy to wear, modest performance, unisex and low priced make it a good buy. It is very similar to the more powerful Sensuous by EL. The small sample of ALfW will probably suffice for now because I still have a big bottle of Sensuous ... :)

Thai_Florist

As a floral fan, I cannot wear any woody fragrance, this is the only one woody fragrance that I can wear all day. Not a super sandalwood but it was a sweet sandalwood with a hint of floral and it gave me a very beautiful feeling when I wore this. Yesterday I ran into the rain and when my clothes got wet I could smell the jasmine in this fragrance and I do love it so much, so I went to the department store to test Tom Ford "Santal Blush" and I can tell you that it is different from each other. Adam Levine gave me a feminine sandalwood while Tom Ford gave me a masculine sandalwood, so I love them both! (not remind me to Sensuous from Estee Lauder at all)

Aromas

Strange Mix.
I bought Adam Levine for Him back in the days and I was not impressed with the aroma or the performance. (Yes, it does have that weird salty armpit smell. But maybe some people like it and appreciate that scent better then me). Reading reviews about A.L. for Her saying it was a better formulated scent and very "Unisex" I decided to take the challenge and go for the adventure.
Well, as the famous quote by Leon Trotsky: “Everything is relative in this world, where change alone endures" Aromas/Scents are too. For some people this will smell great and delicious, just what they like and where looking for, but for others could be a big "NO" in capital letters, too harsh and old style, or simply not the notes they like or love on a perfume.
I tried it, three times and I can respect and see the qualities in it, but I know it is not for me. At first spray the notes are strong and spicy, the Marigold and Saffron are in your face at first with some spices, maybe nutmeg and pepper? To my nose it has a little old fashion aroma, like those perfumes from the 80's era, but this one is "polished" to be a little less "vintage" with some softer woods, sweet vanilla and benzoin. I don't smell Roses or Jasmin, might be there but my nose cannot capture those. People that like these kind of scents will love it. It's strong and has a rancid undertone I can detect when you let it set on your skin. I wonder what Adam Levine wanted to achieve with this perfume, a "Pop-Rock Madame" or a "Motherhood Memory" or maybe he was "Lost in Translation" with the project.
I don't hate it, but I know it isn't for me, it's not the kind of aroma I want to be involved in for my everyday life. It lasts pretty decently for me, like 5 hours and later it gets softer and sweeter. I can see someone using this to work or after work.
Anyway. I have a Big Bottle EDP 3.4 fl. oz and a small one of EDP 30 ml 1.oz to swap if anyone is interested. ( Update : Big Bottle is gone, but I still have the 30ml 1.oz unopened box to swap )

SailorV

I'm a bit torn on this perfume, so I'll tell you the pros and the cons that led to my decision to rate this as okay.

The good: It's not your typical celeb perfume. Surprisingly it's way less generic than most of Maroon 5's recent songs (please don't downvote me, M5 fans, I swear "This Love" was one of my favorite songs in my late teen years). It's a very smooth, soft, creamy blend of sandalwood, vanilla and benzoin with a light layer of florals and just a hint of spice. A true "your skin but better" scent. Clean but warm and very pleasant in general.
The bad: Marigold in the top notes. What is it with this flower? I'm not the biggest fan of it in real life, but in can sometimes work in perfume. Here it doesn't. Sorry to say that it smells urinuous and musty to me, which is always a big no-go. It stays like that for about 20 minutes, but even that is too much for me.
If you're sensitive to marigold, this is not a safe blind-buy even for the very low price. Otherwise it might be a nice choice.

There are other creamy sandalwood scents that I just like better all in all because they're more complex without any offensive notes, for example Zadig & Voltaire This Is Us or Ted Lapidus White Soul. Both are not quite the bargain that Adam Levine's perfume is, but still on the affordable side of things and worth it, especially because I also find them to perform better.

Izzy78

I had this scent some 6 years ago, and it was apple juice colour, and seemed to mellow into a more of a peachy acidic vanilla scent, amazing and very long-lasting.
I just happened to buy a new bottle which is dark caramel in colour, stronger on saffron and benzoin, and caused me to check why. It looks like I have bought some "limited" EDP version? When looking on internet indeed there are pictures of a lighter and much darker liquid, and sliding scale pricing which doe snot make sense, unless they truly are 2 slightly different version of this fragrance. Has this been reformulated?? hm...Longevity is less as well with the dar one I bought..so much for a special "limited" version...Baffled.
Needless to say the fragrance is amazing either way nonetheless.

BellaVanilla

This was a blind buy and my 1st "celebrity fragrance". After I sprayed this once I thought I must have got a bad bottle. That is until I just read a review saying it smells like a familar alcoholic beverage but she couldn't recall which 1. Now I'm convinced I didn't get a bad bottle because the 1st thing I though of was it smells like Yukon Jack (cheap Jack Daniels). I could literally taste the Yukon Jack in my mouth because the scent was just so dead on. I couldn't handle wearing it longer to see if it would change because I felt too nauseous. I hope I never buy or smell a fragrance this awful again. Moved to swap shelf.

natasha28

Review is for my own reference - So I was interested to try this bc the youtuber CurlyScent ad a video where the guys rated this really poorly. I assumed it was the marigold note that made them hate it because marigold can smell like skunk. I don't hate this perfume, but I def don't like it either. It's a VERY generic older woman floral scent. I can't see anyone under 50 years wearing this unless the scent was nostalgic for them. Radiates to an arm's length. I don't know about the longevity bc I washed it off after about 10 minutes bc I didn't like the scent. Changed rating to from okay to dislike, this could be a headache-inducing scent for me. cool bottle concept.

Madyana

This is also somehow a medical fragrance for me. This calms my mind and helps me with nausea as well. Maybe it's due to a combination of marigold and sandalwood. Year after year, I like this more and more.

adamh9201

Coming from a male, this one does smell so much better than the male fragrance by Adam Levine, definitely go for this one guys and gals. It’s almost mind blowing how good this is for the price. I got a 3.4oz new bottle for $10

purplenoon

I was itching to order a new fragrance, so for a cheap thrill I couldn’t pass up on this celebrity scent, especially considering the seductive notes (I didn't have any sandalwood in my collection) and the largely positive reviews.

The opening is syrupy and spicy, almost liquor-like — a tad too much for me, but I can see others quite enjoying it. There is a bit of a masculine sensuality in here after the initial drydown, a very distant cousin of Paloma Picasso’s Minotaure; even if the spicy kick is much gentler and temporary, this is where Adam Levine For Her really shines. What follows is a lovely interplay of sandalwood and vanilla, the polite sillage making this an appropriate everyday fragrance, but one that demands reapplying throughout the day (not a dealbreaker by any means given the low price point).

While I find the bottle endearingly kitschy, it misadvertises the general feeling of the fragrance. This is not a sweaty, energetic scent the bottle suggests, but instead evocative of autumn morning detours to the coffee shop on the way to the work; that said, I am curious how it would perform on a summer's evening. Overall, Adam Levine's For Her is certainly more suggestive of a preppy but slightly rebellious university student with a penchant for dark academia than a rock star.

Film pairings: Sweet November (2001), Mona Lisa Smile (2003)

besitoscococherry96

100% benzoin
99% sandal wood but from middle east.
25% vanilla but vanilla that has been cook warm up
And and then saffron marigold etc etc i like it for evening dinner ,. Or to be chilling in the balcony looking at the city talking with friends having some drinks,. Or movie nite in are house with comfortable and cozy clothes with my husband. I think in nice weather like in the 60' 70' temperatura. This fragrance will last a bit more I think for the price is good.

SmellsLikeMoneyWellSpent

I get no citruses, mostly woods and soft floral sweetness. It’s both spicy and creamy. Sometimes gets soapy, depends on weather, when wet and cold it performs like an old man’s shaving cream, when it’s dry and warmer it’s quite feminine and more oriental. I love it.

RainbowBrite

I bought this after seeing Jeremy Fragrance saying it was the best cheap sandalwood perfume on the market. To me this opens with a tiny bit of fleeting citrus and some subtle spice. Then it settles into creamy sandalwood with sweet warm vanilla and caramel. I don’t pick up the florals unless smelling the perfume up close, they are very subtle.

To me this is lovely, well blended and I definitely with the £9 I paid.

Gemsense

Mmm this is special. Upon first spray it smells like a familiar alcoholic beverage from my waitressing days but i cant put my finger on which one but its a dark liquor... Anyways that fades to tha background but its still there, now theres a fizzy sprite then its faded to a doll smell from the 80s or 90s... Again i cant tell which one but im thinking magic nursery dolls. I like it! And the beginning middle and end is detectable with every whiff and its so 90s childhood nostalgic. Its very comforting. I also smell candy cigarettes in it. I really like it but it does conjure up childhood and good sweet memories flood my mind...

strongerwithglue

This scent does not align with my tastes but I appreciate what it does well. It brings me back to my childhood. And reminds of the mature woman who would buy her cosmetics from an Avon or Mary Kay catalog. A Boss Lady type of woman who likes to pair a blazer with her pencil skirt. This is what her perfume and makeup wardrobe as a whole smells like. That entire ambience in one bottle. Beautiful scent especially for the INSANELY low price you can get it for, does not smell cheap whatsoever, at worst maybe a little dated.

sand and surf

I am on the fence with this one. When you first spray it, it is a bit strong and cloying. I normally go for a sweeter or fresher scent. This is not a very girly scent. This one is woodsy, and could definitely be unisex. I like the dry down, better than when you first spray it. The dry down is powdery. I bought it, because of everyone, raving about it. I got a giant bottle, 3.4 oz. at Ross for 7.99. I don't know if I will ever use it that often. It will probably take me forever to use it all. Not sure if I will reach for this one often. Definitely better for Fall or Winter. I guess I will keep it for those seasons. I asked if my Husband likes it, he said no.

qwerty988

I'm totally shocked at how much I love this.

I love sweet woody scents. Samsara is heaven to me. This one is just a delight -- warm and spicy, with a rich woody vanilla. Unbelievably inexpensive. Super cozy. My only complaint is that on my perfume-eating skin, it's mostly gone after just a few hours. I can't imagine ever not owning a few bottles.

Rosemary14

I feel it’s my duty to warn people about this fragrance. It’s an intensely strong sandalwood and powder bomb. It actually made me feel a little ill. It isn’t an expensive sandalwood either it’s cheap and thick, thick powder (which I can not stand).

shenamedel

I have fallen in love with this Adam Levine For Women fragrance! And it smells like powdery peaches. It's a very mellowing softly effusive & billowing scent that has a beautiful presence on my skin & lasts for well over 10+ Hours with moderate projection & presence for well over 3-4 Hours. I purchased mine about 3 years ago. And I am also reminded of Jessica Simpson's Signature fragrance with the gold cap & Sonia Kashuk's Red Promisia fragrance that was available at Target many years ago.

Linett21

I hated the first sprays, but now we're gettin' somewhere... maybe. It's woody, very dry woody with a hint of marigold. It's more herbal or medicine like than 'floral'.... Well, it's nothing floral here. Definitely unisex. Very powdery drydown. Poor longevity. But ridiculously cheap LOL

Exquizeet

SCENT: Fragrantica describes this as an "Oriental Floral fragrance for women". I would say this is more of a woody, powdery scent for women. Upon initial spray, I was nearly knocked unconscious with the scent of old lipstick and expired makeup, all thanks to the strong sandalwood note in this fragrance. Once I can stop gagging on the sandalwood and start looking for other notes hidden in this fragrance, I can detect a hint of the spice note and the rose note. I guess if someone can detect the spice and rose note in this fragrance, it could be called an "Oriental Floral fragrance", but to my nose, it's mostly a nauseous sandalwood fragrance. I do not get any of the citrus or vanilla notes.

DRY DOWN: As this dries down, the sandalwood note begins to fade and give way to more of the spicier notes and floral notes. My nose still gets a heavy dose of sandalwood though.

SEASONS: Fall - The woody and powdery notes reminds me of autumn. It is a warm scent for colder seasons.

TIME OF DAY: Day or night - This is a very versatile scent that can be worn during the daytime or nighttime activities. The strong makeup scent makes me think of getting dressed up and ready for an evening event.

SCENARIOS: If i like this scent, it would be the perfect scent to wear to a special evening event where I'm getting ready and putting my make up on.

GENDER: Feminine Leaning - It reminds me of lipstick and makeup so to me it feels very feminine. However, it doesn't have the overly sweet note that I associate with all feminine fragrances, so I would say this is a feminine leaning fragrance.

LONGEVITY: This scent lasts 5-6 hours on skin. I could still smell it through my mask when I was in the gym around 6 hours after application.

PROJECTION: This has a moderate throw. I was at the gym and I kept picking this scent up and I did not like it at all.

PRICE: $20 CAD/100mL.

OVERALL: 0/10 - While the performance of this fragrance is just fine for those who enjoy a nice warm sensual sandalwood scent, I personally cannot tolerate this scent at all. The sandalwood note gets a bit too irritating and makes me nauseous. I would never chose to wear this again. It reminds me too much of expired lipstick and makeup. I just can't wear this scent at all. This makes me nauseous and I would never want to be around someone who is wearing this scent. I would say it's not a crowd pleaser. There is another scent that makes me gag even more than this one and that's the Estee Lauder Sensuous fragrance. They smell the same to my nose. If you like sandalwood, then you might enjoy this scent as it has quite the long life span and the projection will annoy all those around you.

Brighter44

Idk how I feel about this. Undecided. Props brag Its odd but unique. Smells like Nirvana Black with root beer.

Licoricelady

I’m not sure I get the ‘niche’ or ‘expensive’ feel when I wear this scent. It is inoffensive to me, spicy fading to sweet, pretty unisex, with a sharp citrus that comes in after a few minutes but doesn’t hang around long. The citrus tends to stay around more when sprayed on knitwear, which is now my preferred way of wearing this scent. The smell takes me back to the body products gift sets that used to be donated and then included in school raffles 10/15 years ago... this is pretty nostalgic to me as a result

I wouldn’t drop ££ on this, but at £4 for 30ml I’m not complaining and I’ll happily use it up. I might even be tempted to repurchase in the fall time for a cosy jumper-day scent

this is really not a gem in any way but I do absolutely love the kitschy bottle for $11. the bottle is genuinely nice and feels solid in hand, too. the scent is basically sweetened cardboard. but I suppose it’s no better or worse than all the le labo santal 33 types out there. Estée Lauder sensuous is for sure nicer than this tho (but yeah it’s kinda similar).

Works great as a room and closet spray though.

Due to the raving reviews and the SUPER cheap price of this perfume, I had to blindbuy a bottle. I actually bought it months ago and set it on the shelf after spraying it in the box to get a whiff. It was so awful! There's a review on fragrancenet where someone says it smells like old furniture in an abandoned house and I think that is quite apt.

It's been staring at me from the shelf for months now and I finally had the courage to try it, actually try it. First off, the sprayer sucks. It spits. I don't know if this is just mine, but I may have to decant this into smaller atomizers.
The opening is quite strong. Very spicy and citrusy. It's a bit much, but I can appreciate it. I've been wearing for about 30 min. and it's mellowing out into a lovely sweet woodsy vanilla. I still get the spices, but they are more in the background softly supporting the vanilla. It smells like an expensive vanilla, not something generic or shampoo-ey.
I'm wearing this of a cool spring morning and I feel like I'm borderline where it wouldn't be season-appropriate. I definitely think due to the cozy nature of this scent, that it's more reserved for cool weather, otherwise it may feel a bit heavy. I wouldn't go as far to say this smells vintage, but I feel like it leans that way. Perhaps a "modern vintage", if you will. This is complex. This is beautiful. I feel powerful wearing this lovely perfume.
This is a pleasantly surprising blindbuy.

I think I’m figuring out that this application of sandalwood—the sweetened vanilla variety doesn’t really work for my chemistry. To me this is very overwhelming and somewhat boozy. I had a really similar reaction to Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black. I will say that if Nirvana Black works for you; you’ll probably enjoy this. For me, it feels like it’s missing some vital component which would make me like it. As is, it’s a scrubber on me, but I probably wouldn’t mind it as a candle or on someone else.

I’ll keep the bottle for a while and see if a different season improves my reaction to it.

EXCELLENT knockoff of Harem Soiree by Arte Profumi. Harem Soiree has been sitting on my wishlist for a while due to the high price. When I found this in a discount store (one bottle, missing the cap) for $9, and i tried it, it was sooooo close that I HAD to buy it while I save up for the real deal. It lacks that pheremonally musky je ne sais that made me fall in love with HS, and it isnt quite as richly full smelling in the bouquet, but otherwise it is spot on. Strongly recommend this if you are looking for an excellent feminine ooey gooey vanilla rum spice that somehow manages to NOT be gourmand and is a fantastic value buy. Perhaps it is the powder (assuming hint of violet) and metallic marigold-saffron-benzoin that keeps it grounded. I definitely smell all the notes listed above. Love, love, love it.

Love this. Love how it comes across so differently to everyone?! I get a pretty strong white floral opening which I’m not to happy about, but when that fades away I get a creamy, spicy vanilla with a lot of citrus. Very reminiscent of my all time favorite Lira, which costs about as much as a make in a year, so the price on this one is music to my ears. Would recommend to all vanilla lovers and gourmands out there.

I see lots of reviews that say this lives up to the hype.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this is still grossly under appreciated.

Just get a bottle. Don’t think twice. Whether this is your style or not, you will appreciate how this is executed.

For me, this is less Adam Levine and more Sam Smith if you know what I mean. Really soulful but not trying too hard. Incredibly bright not loud/screechy. Smooth AF. Polite spicy. Steady for hours.

I wear this to Trader Joe’s in a crop top when I’m not bloated.

Just got this and I'm loving it. Its warm, softly spiced with a touch of the woods, the dry down is a sensual vanilla. The opening can smell a bit dated maybe akin to Shalimar, but I find this perfume super elegant, the packaging was elegant too and for no good reason I kept the box :@ Anyhow, like others have said, not a lot of longevity so I have to spray a lot. However it does remain subtle and present, when you move you can smell the vanilla & sandalwood softly. For the price point (less than $25 for 100ml) you can't go wrong.

martaisarollingstone

I blindly bought a big bottle for 8 EUR, as I watched some Youtube reviews and thought I'd give it a try. It's spicy, woodsy and smells a bit sour on my skin in the opening. Unfortunately, I feel like the longevity is very low and it disappears quickly.

Picked up at Burlington for like $8 for 3.3 ounces. It's nice! Definitely very spicy with some sandalwood, and only the tiniest bit of sweetness comes out on the dry down. I would say this kind of leans almost masculine, but if anything, definitely unisex. It gets a bit more feminine as it dries down, hours down the line. It is a heavier perfume and I feel like it's just a cloud that follows you around. Would be a cool weather fragrance for me because I think it would be choking in the hot weather (and I don't normally think that about many fragrances).

I reviewed this a couple months ago and I decided to give it a second chance. I bought a bottle at Burlington coat factory that came with a travel size. The larger bottle has that same strong obnoxious plastic smell that I smelled before. The juice in the bottle was very dark and almost red. I opened the travel size bottle and the juice was much lighter. I sprayed it and oh my goodness,it smells wonderful! Now I see what all the fuss is about! There are very few fragrances that I’ve paid so little for that I would wear in public but this one is the exception.
So evidently there are a lot of bad bottles out there. If the juice is very dark it’s probably bad, but unfortunately you don’t know until you’ve already bought it. I’m disappointed that it’s the larger bottle for me.

Domkaaa

Just opened it, I bought it because of Jeremy Fragrance hyping it up,smells more unisex for me,but kinda sexy..suitable for autumn/winter

lrnonken

It's nice, light and spicy. I get a strong tumeric note. Anyone else?

Hello everyone

I do agree with everyone who says this is a cut above the average celebrity collaboration. It hasn't reached the superleague of true classics that people will still be wearing in 100 years, but it is a decent, contemporary piece of work that smells as if it has been well put together with good quality ingredients. It's certainly one I would choose to wear to work or at the weekend at home and I think it would go equally well with a dress and jacket or jeans and a white shirt.
.
Scanning through earlier reviews, it is interesting to read how this strikes different people differently. For me, the top notes are definitely woody, although I also get the saffron. Saffron isn't one of my favourite smells but it combines quite nicely with the woody notes here and also has the virtue of being slightly unusual. As time passes, what then comes across to me is an ingredient not listed in the notes: cashmeran. However, cashmeran always seems to me to have a woody side to it, so perhap I am just getting the sandalwood - if anyone has tried Cashmeran Velvet by Ostens, you might know what I mean. I wouldn't describe this as spicy and I don't get the floral notes either.

I agree with those who rate the sillage and longevity as moderate, which is also a plus in a work environment.

Altogether, a very nice job by Adam Levine and his advisors.

hadiyahadiyah

🙂 a light, more "unisex" spice. surprisingly decent for a discount celebrity fragrance. the saffron and sandalwood are prominent here. sillage and longevity are fair, but the size and price make up for it some. it's wearable in an easygoing, casual way. an evening, cool weather scent. i'd wear it while relaxing at home. the microphone bottle fits it's unisex vibe.
not bad.

Had the opportunity to try this today and, yeah, this lives up to the hype. Not to mention they were pawning it off at TJ Maxx for $9 a bottle. I can say straight away that for $9, this juice is more than worth it. I’m surprised tuberose isn’t listed as a note, the opening on my skin was HEAVY tuberose and not much else. Tuberose/creamy-whites always have that “yucky but can’t stop sniffing” quality to them, and that’s exactly what the first 5 or 10 minutes of this was. Good fun! After the opening, some smoke joins the party. Quickly after the smoke comes the vanilla. Tuberose lingers among them for two hours, then goes. Another hour passed and the only thing left is like PURE iso-e. It is strong and all I can smell and DELIGHTFUL. I’ve been wearing this all day now, and this synthetic coziness is still just as strong as it was 4 hours ago. Bravo!

Daniela_Beatriz

Yeah, I agree with all that is being said about it having niche quality. It really does, and for a bargain! Unisex and very sultry, a lot of wood and resin. Just lovely! On my skin doesn´t last very long, but I don't mind reaplying. Even though I dislike the novelty bottle shaped like a mic, the box is high quality and sturdy, it would be perfect with a simple square cap. I am not a Maroon 5 fan, but Adam Levine's perfume is simply divine, worth a try.

Lovely unisex scent! Niche quality! Sandalwood in this is creamy and warm. Opens spicy but gets sweeter.
I get a fantastic longevity. Projection is nice as well. Hidden treasure! If you like Sensuous by Estee Lauder and Santal Blush by Tom Ford you will love this. Marigold flowers in the opening is the main difference, but it goes well with sandalwood. Smells so expensive! 12hrs+ longevity... What? Bravo, Adam Levine!

elegantshnozzie

Smells niche! Sandalwood, resins and spice are smelled directly on the skin. The creamier vanilla sweet side is thrown in the air and creates a nice bubble. Seems like something you would pick up at a store like Anthropologie without the crazy price tag. I found my 3.4 oz bottle at Burlington for 7.99$. If you're more into the earthy/ indie/ new-age perfume composition this will definitely fit the bill. When I wear this it feels unique and it feels very "me". It's definitely not a generic run of the mill "perfumey" build. I have to say the cheesy bottle is cute too, and very sturdy.

poppyetpear

At first, this is a blast of a very masculine fragrance, like old spice or something similar and i didn't like it.. Then it dries down to something very similar to Bvlgari Omnia or Carner Barcelona Rima XI...very subtle, warm and spicy. It's just ok.

LeAx

So I was quite curious about this one after reading all the good reviews here and didn't want to judge the fragrance based on price/name so I gave it a try. I really wanted to like this one, but I guess it doesn't react well with my chemistry, because on me is nothing like what I read here. All I could smell was a VERY STRONG citrus and saffron and that was it. After a few minutes, a "plastic" fake vanilla scent got in the mix. I don't know how to describe it, it smelled like a citrus mosquito spray with synthetic vanilla extract in it. Glad it was so cheap that I can throw away the bottle without any regrets

twiztidladii

This was a blind buy at less than $10 for a 3.4oz bottle. I never even knew Adam Levine had a fragrance line. I don’t pay much attention to him at all really. I was on FragranceNet and searching for a bunch of cheapy perfumes to check out. I feel kind of unsure about this perfume. Like on one side, it smells like sunscreen. Which gives me major nostalgic feelings remembering being a kid going to the beach with my family. It’s a kind of weird pleasant scent. And on the other hand, there’s nothing really that grabs you and pulls your attention. It’s very light and powdery to me which isn’t what I usually go for but it’s decent. I might end up gifting it to my teenage daughter.
