Iris Violet was a very unique fragrance in my collection that, for some reason, didn't quite steal my heart and I finally sold. It has a romantic and feminine aroma and that ornate packaging characteristic of this house, which you can love or hate but which is above all different.

It has a very fruity aroma mixed with an iris in which the more powdery aspects stand out, with a background of musk and wood. Personally, that combination of the sweetness of the fruit along with the iris was not entirely pleasant to my nose and it was difficult for me to wear it, plus I enjoy other types of iris more.

Its sillage is moderate and it lasts 5-6 hours on my skin.

It is by no means one of the most powerful perfumes from this house but, if you fall in love with it, for me it has a quite personal scent and it could be something new in your collection, although in this case this Alexandre J was not for me.

Very aromatic opening with sweet dried fruit, almost like a tart with a hint of musk.
On the skin you will get a pleasant combination of fruit and patchouli.
Almost with a specific sweetness reminiscent of bubble gum.
It is not very powdery, but with a touch of iris dryness.
Soft warm coziness for autumn.
Those who like Mancera and Montale fragrances should also be satisfied with this one.

On my skin, this perfume smells like straight up Italian salad dressing. 🥗 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

Sugared flowers. Pretty enough. Slight violet note with sweet fruits. After a minute I do get a bubble gum type sweetness. Powdery from the iris. Dry down is soft and sweet. Not getting the woods. Not unique but still nice.

Drisha

Very strong, synthetic, caused me a headache. Smells very drugstore cheap like. Would not even use it to spray the toilet with.

rita.novik

Just awful. Pure synthetic smell.
Very masculine.
So strong, makes me sick.
The author has never smelled iris :(

When I was young there was a Trident chewing gum in an orange paper packaging that was having tropical fruity taste and this gum was having a very sour powder springled on it before you chew it. This perfume is exactly the smell of that powder: very sweet slightly sour tropical fruty tasted powder.

I blind bought Oud Vanille and loved it. So much so that I blind bought Iris Violet as I am a fan of both notes and this house intrigued me. Well I really didn't like this at all. No iris and no violet here, just a cheap smelling, way too sweet fruity mess. Maybe some like this, but I couldn't stomach it. Thumbs way down.

mishalmishal

I'm a huge fan of Iris, but this..... this terrible!
Nothing in it smells like iris, lowkey reminded me of drug store perfume!
It is so strong that it irritates you, however the bottle is good!

Cherry_Darling

I'm loving this. Not feeling much iris, just a plush musky fruit basket, but not the kirke kind, more of a powdery realistic green basket of fruits. Smells super genuine, and very green to my nose.

First: I love the packaging. It is different and lots of attention to details. the box containing the perfume could be reused for make-up or jewellery.

Second: I know the line of fragrances and I tried many of this series. I still cannot understand why is not getting the attention that deserve.

Third: this is a wonderful flap on your face of fruity, powdery, sweet, musky iris and violet. There is lots of natural ingredients and very concentrated.
Sillage and longevity are enormous (and I love it)
Unique scent in my collection, I need to buy another bottle because I finished it and I already miss it.
Beware: enormous sillage and not an office scent, could be offensive (like I care!!))

Curios note: in the same meeting two men commented on my fragrance, one hated it at the extent to change seat, while the other was ecstatic and often lingering towards me to sniff the jus.... 4/5
UPDATE: as promised I got anther bottle. These perfumes are hard to find if you don't live in UAE

My first from this house. This house which is extremely famous in Russia and Balkan countries has been catching my eye for quite some time but I just happen to revolve towards it a bit later than I would have liked.

That being said, it's glad that I finally did. I'll tell you about it later as to why that is. First let's talk about Iris Violet.

Fragrances and Colors have a very interesting relationship. If you look at it that way Iris is actually violet in it's own colour. But the color violet also always brings some inviting and exciting feelings with it. Safe to say it's a very jolly spectrum of waves. And so is this scent.

It starts of very fruity. A melange-full of very tropical tart/sour fruits. Not very ripe but not very blunt also. It's one of those fragrances which opens with a blast and gives you an idea for what this is going to be about all at once and then takes a step back and reintroduces itself step by step. Love such compositions frankly, they always keep you on the edge of tou seat.

After this initial blast Iris takes the centre stage. If you're an Iris lover this is a must have. Iris personally is a favourite note of mine. It just oozes class and calm and composure all with a hint of spark and effervescence about it, without feeling juvenile, infact the opposite.

This however is a very unique take on Iris. It's celebratory almost. It pops and jumps off your skin. The fruits are dancing, the iris is happy, the woods are jubilant and frankly this whole composition is really uplifting and joyful.

In the drydown you see alot of Cashmere, alot of woods. It gets warmer on the tonality, but the vibrance never dims down. Some resins come to play too maybe with a hint of Vanilla taking this composition into the oriental territory. And yeah just like that the very bright and vibrant opening dries down to a jubilant and exciting yet somewhat content oriental drydown.

Genuinely surprised by the quality of this house and I can promise you're going to see alot more from this house atleast as far as I'm concerned. Also almost everyone who has seen this bottle in my room has complimented it so that's another prop. Presentation on ALEXANDRE J is a thing of beauty.

WOW !! Love it!!
But don't let the name fool you...this is NOT all about purple-y iris/violet.
This is woody/fruity/not too powdery/benzoin vanilla mossy.
The top has a quick citrus...the patchouli is hidden...IMO....
I do get that woody/floral/musky connection...with added complexity. It is a balanced scent.
Performance on my skin is low to moderate, but I don't mind because it smells terrific !!!
Hidden gem.

Iris and Violet...sounds terrible for we dudes, right? Wrong! I love this perfume. Sure, it's better suited for the ladies, but I think we dudes can pull it off too. It's sweet, powdery, woody, musky, balsamic, and just plain yummy!

Iris Violet reminds me of biting into a grape jelly bean during the opening. Within minutes it begins transitioning into a gorgeous floral scent wrapped in sweet fruity tones in the heart, and finally evolves into a smooth-as-silk drydown as creamy woods, white musk, vanilla and whisper-soft balsamic tones push forward.

Performance is just right for this kind of scent in that it projects within an arms length and lasts about 7-hours on my skin. Recommend taking a sniff if this sounds like it's in your scent wheelhouse.

kareninsilver

I love this perfume and how sweet and powdery it is without being to heady. I can smell the violet and the berries. Cashmeran, my favorite, is what made me try this.

addiehominem

This isn't as sweet as some reviews might lead you to believe, but it's definitely in the gourmand ballpark. It's weird that violet isn't listed in the notes, since it's the main thing I smell: a sheer wash of purple and red berries over sweet candied violets. I don't get a lot of powder--the note is subdued here compared to other iris or violet-dominated fragrances. Actually, iris itself isn't prominent to me at all. Like I said, I pick up much more violet.

The fruits smell to me like sweet, watery lychee and blackcurrant. Or maybe redcurrant? Hard to tell, but this smells 'purple' in the same way Lalique's Amethyst does. It reminds me of grape chewing gum on one hand, and on the other it smells kind of like Guerlain's Meteorites cosmetic powder, but more synthetic and sweet. Not bad, but I've smelled designer fragrances of the same quality or better. The only edge Iris Violet has over most designers is its oddball mixture of notes.

EDIT: Smells sweeter and more like fruity pebbles to me today.

dsty

I'm afraid that I don't like anything about Iris Violet, except for its name, and that's misleading as well. I say "afraid" because I don't like to write exclusively negative reviews, but I just can't stand to let go of a sample before I've reviewed it, and I really want to let go of this one. So I'll just add a disclaimer: of course this is super subjective, and this scent may smell totally different and lovely to someone else - and it's definitely not generic, very bold and original, so I guess it's got that going for it and it's worth testing in any case!

The fact that I dislike it so much may in large part be due to the cashmeran note. I was blissfully unaware of its existence until a few weeks ago, but this is the third scent I've tested recently that has it, and I strongly disliked all of them (while I generally at least like almost everything I try). In this case as well it adds a chemical layer that dominates the entire thing and irritates my nose a little bit. But even without it I don't think I would have found much to appreciate here. Unlike the name suggests, neither violet nor iris are very noticeable to my nose - instead I get a mix of overwhelmingsly sweet and synthetic fruits mixed with equally overwhelming synthetic spices, all of them obnoxiously strong. It's not truly unisex, but rather it combines elements that will be way too masculine for some with elements that will be way too feminine for others. Lastly, and now I'm just being petty, I also think the bottle is rather ugly.

I had 2 bottles until my female friend insisted I part with one. Thats all I have to say. RaJuR real deep kool on YouTube

ScarlettX

I liked the fruity floral top notes where iris smelled so nicely.
The base notes were a surprise for me and not the nicest one.
It has gotten so strong and woody, smells very masculine. An oriental fragrance.
I think it's just too much for me.

jeffwithfrags

Opens with a loud fruit punch; ranging from very Sweet Berries, hints of apple and tropical fruits.

Also at the start, a waxy sort of velvet so this must be the iris.

What it does best is avoid the Plastic-attack so many Niche scents shockingly seem to contain when doing fruits. That, or pungent / rubbery greens.

I just wished for a more bolder hit to the fruits; maybe more Blackcurrent would have made this a real Winner.

It's more Redcurrent / raspberry but since there's no annoying huge mandarin orange, oddity like rhubarb or strawberries instead, I cannot really complain.

It's no Apple Brandy but a good fruity scent that may be rated higher with further testing.

My rating: 7/10.
Scent quality: 9/10.

jamie81

My fav from the line. A rich, fruity iris with with a solid vanilla/benzoin drydown. Long lasting and a quality fragrance from this house.
