I had Amouage Bracken yesterday.
I have more fragrances that last all day and in the evening I could go straight to the company with the scent on without top-ups.
I think Bracken probably trumps all my scents in this one.
I purposely did not wear any perfume today, I was at home all day because it is cold and raining.
In the t-shirt I wore yesterday, I could still perceive the scent quite clearly today.

I smelled this blindly, without having ever read the notes. My first words were: leather and yellow florals.

This does have green elements; the birch tar and vetiver give it an incense/smokey feel. It leans fairly masculine to my nose, which means if a female were to smell this as a fragrance for herself, it would be polarizing.

My mother's first impression: "This smells like the fancy soap at the souk."

beeeyearr

Fruity aromatic green! I’m not really into fruity scents (prefer aromatic green), but this is one of my favorites. If fruit needs woody/green help for you, try this.

Heliodora

A pleasant surprise - this is a very interesting scent, citrusy in the opening and then turns into this green, woodland moss scent mixed with patchouli.. not exactly a freshie, but aromatic for sure - it's like walking in the forest, and brings many memories because of that. I've sampled a few other Amouages, and either the longevity was not the best or they did not feel original enough to justify the price point, but here, I would say this is full bottle worthy. It's a scent profile I've never smelled before, it projects really well and lasts quite a long time.

Being a total newbie and also a person, who spends a lot of time in the woods and loves ferns in particular, I was totally charmed by the descriptions and ordered a 2 ml sample of this. At first sniff I was shocked, and not exactly in a good way, as I expected something diametrically opposite from 'a forest smell'. I didn't feel this any green at all, more like 'reddish brown' scent, very spicy, harsh and suffocating, kind of retro (Much close to what I felt after blind-bying my very first full bottle - Eden, also hypnotised by the description and reviews). My husband said I smell like an Indian store. Didn't get anything fresh at all. So I put it aside and moved on, but something didn't let me forget about it. Next day I suddenly felt a bold glimpse of something very pleasant, fresh and unique, and it took some time to figure out that was still Bracken on me. I decided to try it once or twice in a week, at home, small doses, sometimes layered with other scents, and in a month I realized that I'm totally in love with it, wanting to smell it much more often than anything light or airy or inoffensive I used to prefer. Still can't call Bracken a green smell, but definitely not an 'Indian shop' either. To me, the closest term is 'bittersweet', and definitely more sweet, than bitter. Most of the bitterness fades away after two hours, but somehow returns after 6-7. The good thing is I don't get leather note at all; not so good that I almost don't get berries. I wanted narcissus and it's definitely there, along with lily, chamomile and woodsy notes. Maybe I'd love it less sweet and spicy, more herbal and fresh as expected, but it's one of my favourites as it is, and I totally need a full bottle.

Starts with a burst of muddy berries in the top. Very Soapy smell in the beginning.
As it dries down it gives me a raw honey feeling. May be it is from the sweetness and the chamomile together.
It has got earthy and ferny feel for sure but if you are looking for piny deep-in-the-woods kinda scent, this is not for you.

Shawn330

Simply stunning and charming. Love the dry down the patchouli is done just right !! The berries keep it sweet while the fern accord keeps it green. I do believe they are using a tomato leaf absolute to create this fern accord and mixed with berries it’s heavenly won’t be for everyone… the chamomile is beautifully done as well

Sherlock Ness Monster

This is one of the scents that I like to take down off the shelf and sniff from time to time even if I'm not planning to wear it. It smells so mysterious, so wild, and to me it truly does give the feeling of tangled patch of ferns on the dark forest floor. It is unlike anything else I own, and very unique.

Silverquick

So far this one is my least favourite feminine (from this house) followed by Overture. I have slowly acquired a fairly large collection of them. Mainly the older line that is slowly slipping into discontinuation.

I’m open minded about this scent as I’ve changed my mind many times in the past, finally either understood or experienced it differently and owned up to it. So it’s not impossible that this will gain more appreciation with time.

Right now the piercing green opening smells odd. Almost like a certain type of Ajax disinfectant spray I used a lot 2020-2022. It’s super piercing and while I love green notes, this is a bit of a nose burner. The heart and dry down are gorgeous though - clean, almost soapy with a woody and musky backbone that is warm and inviting.

My 3ml decant will remain and I’ll keep trying and see how I go with it. Bracken and Ciel are a few of the ones I don’t either own or have a big decant of as I love the crazy/complicated fragrances and the stories they tell.

Will edit if things change for me.

aynala216

Least favorite Amouage. Hodge Podge of notes, nothing clearly stands out. Smells like a forest of 100 different types of trees and woods.

AlyssaBrindley

Wow!! This is absolutely unlike anything I’ve smelt before and I absolutely love it. It’s clean, lovely. I feel this perfume is best worn on a day you’ll be outside as the smell of this in the breeze is absolutely stunning. At arms length a thick leather scent hits me, up close a cold in the nose almost mint like, could be the fern—?

Updated review- I was lying to myself. I hate it

PKSMKE

I don't know why Fragrantica isn't showing "This perfume reminds me of" suggestions for Bracken Woman, but although it isn't a note-for-note match by any means, Bracken gives me vibes of EL Private Collection. To me they are both strong green scents with herbal-sweet florals (chamomile, narcissus).

For the people who say they don't get Amouage fragrances, let me just say I don't get Baccarat Rouge 540 or Erba Pura. If you want to talk about beast mode unappealing fragrances, I would point to those.

Random Spirit Lover

Green, fresh, herbal… spring/summer unisex perfection in a bottle.
It’s a real naturescape type of scent, no need to classify it as feminine or masculine. A great companion to Bracken man, they are like 2 rather different variations on the same theme. Somewhere in the mid it veers towards a smoky floral, but still remains green and grounded in nature.
I’ve been sampling a lot of Amouage and it seems all my favorites, aside from Reflection Man, are among the discontinued line. It’s almost like the new creative director is trying to kill off a lot the amazing unique fragrances created under Chong.
I was at least lucky enough to find a large bottle of this at a good price.
I’m kind of shocked to see that it seems to be somewhat polarizing.
To me it’s a borderline masterpiece, and definitely signature worthy in the spring/summer. It just resonates with me 100% from the first sniff, I find it very uplifting and transporting.

XeniaKoneva

I'm a huge fan of this scent, and like most of Amouage creations circa the creative direction of C. Chong it ticks every box possible. Is anyone in the UK selling it by any chance?

aaronmilic

I now own a few Amouage scents but this was the first one I ever got. This was before I understood the bigger bottles are supposed to be for men and the smaller ones for women. To me, this is perfectly unisex and didn't really like the Bracken for men. The scent is really hard to describe... it's like if weed smelled good. On me, it smells incredible.

For those thinking about getting a full bottle, better act fast. I've been told by the people where I got this that this is one of a few Amouage scents that's slated for discontinuation.

schomj

I sometimes wonder who it was at Amouage who decided "hey, you know what would pair beautifully with the perfume equivalent of getting punched in the nose by a fern? A cheery coral orange!"

I get confused every time I go to wear it.

skybunny

Bracken starts off with harsh broken green leaves, smoke, and leather. It smells like something bad is about to happen to you.

Once it settles in, the berries start to come out. At this point Bracken smells like fairytale woods. You have the crushed green ferns, trees, berries, and the leather from a horse's saddle.

I'm so glad that I bought the 100ml of this. I'm going to be wearing it often. A truly ominous perfume.

Slowpainhauer

Amouage is probably my favourite house and I think they have created some of the greatest fragrances known to mankind. When I looked at the notes of bracken, I had high hopes. As good as the scent is, it just vanishes in the first hour or so of applying it. Can't really appreciate it as anything beyond being a skin scent.

Sniffathon

Rich bitter aromatics laced with dry woods, leather and vetiver. This is not a sparkling fresh green - it is intensely herbaceous bitter and earthy, more like walking through a thick rainforest after rain.
Complex, unique and most certainly niche. Long lasting as I have noted with most Amouage I have sampled.
Not for everyone’s tastes and definitely not a safe blind buy as it can be challenging if you’re not accustomed to similar genres. I’m not interested in a full bottle as I don’t see myself reaching for this often enough, but it is definitely worthy of a sniff-analysis!

MissChanel85

Hahah, my daughter says this smells like taco shells but I love this! On my second decant. Considering fb!!

Yes Malena

I agree with LeSucreRose, who characterized Bracken Woman as being "like Irish Spring soap with berries." I love Irish Spring soap, and at the same time I acknowledge it is a very bold fragrance that is made tolerable because it fades quickly after use.

I have a manufacturer's carded sample that I've worn once. The first moments after spraying did bring to mind a wetlands exploration, albeit via a bizarre, chemically abstract impression. Something in the initial notes connected (for me) to the wet ends of cattails, but then the fruity notes came out and it changed focus. Kind of a "huh?" moment for a bit. Fruity notes didn't last, and soon, along with the Irish Spring vetiver, a slight powder comes about. Very strong vetiver throughout, and then I did get a synth-y patchouli as well, still with a ghost of the tart berry note. I find Bracken Woman has an adventurous mood, appropriate for a day when you are happy to be alone and just test your strength on a solitary ramble.

teltell

Don't usually write reviews but felt compelled with this one . Bracken !! This is by far one of absolute fave . The scent is very complex and takes on a journey almost through a lush forest , the green herbaceous smell lingers throughout. The dry down is quite unique musky patchouli . It is a sillage and projection monster and skin and eternal on clothes .I already have my back up bottle.

LSAUG

Braken Woman is not my cup of tea. I will say it is a beast mode of a fragrance. It opens green but becomes laundry drier sheets or a really overly strong laundry detergent smell. Like a really strong green and fruity laundry detergent. The kind I do not buy.

Edit: 11/28/22 I have sampled quite a few from this very expensive brand and have only liked 2 but did not think they were worth the price, and I have expensive perfumes in my collection so I'm not a cheap person. I just don't get this brand. Personally, many of their perfumes are so obnoxious they border on the grotesque. Bracken Woman and their Library Opus X (the one w/ a varnish accord) are a perfect example of the grotesque.

shokravee

this is my thoughts from months ago and i still think it's accurate, it's just that the performance is sooo strong that it might be too much but scent-wise:
it's unlike anything i have smelled, i feel like i am literally in heaven. that's the vibe it creates:
in heaven wearing recently dry cleaned white clothes surrounded by tall trees while holding a notebook made of leather and eating berries. i kid u not the first word i think of whenever i spray it is "lively"; it's 20/10 in being "zen" and idk why.
this is completely a bad analogy, but the first time i smelled TF black orchid i was like THAT IT IS SO DIFFERENT and LIKE NOTHING ELSE. this exactly brought up the same rxn (though the scents are bot remotely related).
it's green and leathery but not sharp, it's really natural, specially the berries (which i am never a fan of).

Miss Kittens

Have you ever smelled sunflowers? That's how it opens, and then it dries down to a laundry softener sheets detergent type of smell, not my cup of tea. Even though I love green scents, this 1 is a no for me. Not a safe blind buy.

eliskas

This is such a unique scent! It transforms in such a beautiful way on my skin! I usually hate super powdery scents, fougeres, and chypres, but this one isn't the case.

After spraying it on the skin, it smells like I'm walking through a sunny green forest, with lots of berries and wildflowers around. On clothes, the berries are there, but on the skin, they're disappearing quickly. The fern and powdery notes are there from the start until the end. It may become a bit soapy, but it doesn't bother me much, especially if I'm outside - the fresh notes are balancing the powderiness.

After 30-60min, the perfume becomes so similar on the skin to the Xerjoff La Tosca - lots of green airy violets, that remind me of springtime. I was so surprised to smell violets, it wasn't listed on the notes list! The transition between the berry forest and the violet shore is so smooth, and it happens when my skin becomes warmer.
I appreciate the longevity, it's around 12-16h. It lasts on the clothes until doing the laundry.

Bracken Woman is a warm, yet refreshing, light composition, which is not flat and banal. This aromatic juice is worth its price. The scent is floating around, filling the room gradually and making my presence noticed. I find it so difficult to describe, it's so beautiful and ethereal.

I wouldn't get this fragrance after scanning the notes and reading the reviews. It's not blind buy safe, so be sure to test it on your skin (the blotter is not showing the complex profile of this juice).

EmpressVision

Hated it from application to dry down. 😣 Smells too medicinal. I was hoping to add another fougere to my collection & this ain't it. Oh well...the search continues.

KarinaSo

Smells like alcohol tincture of chamomile, calendula and tansy, quite special and unisex :) but something there is highly allergenic, in 10 minutes after spraying my eyes and nose gets swollen :(

Enrium

Bracken Woman is an interesting, full-bodied fruity fougère that is unisex despite its marketing. It is green and aromatic, but its volume is turned up surprisingly high for the genre.

BW opens with a tart berry note, reminiscent of compote. It is turn joined by a wonderful aromatic fern note, verdant and realistic. Together with the berries, it reminds me of a forest in late August. The chamomile adds a restorative, herbal-floral edge, while the polleny narcissus note adds a grassy edge. Despite the traditionally masculine fougère classification of this scent, BW is very whimsical here.

As it develops, the animalic leather note emerges, adding a tough edge, while being smooth and seamless. I get some waxy yet surprisingly restrained lily here.

Dry, woody vetiver and a hint of earthy patchouli are prevalent as it dries down, but the fern-leather accord remains dominant until the end. Sillage is fairly strong, and longevity is day-long.

A compelling and unusual scent that is nicely composed, BW is one of Amouage's better recent offerings. However, there is a very obvious laundry detergent quality to it, as other reviewers below have mentioned, that I cannot ignore. Still, a pretty good springtime scent. 3.5/5.

saccitygrl01

This was love at first sniff for me. My first expensive niche fragrance experience and it was an explosive amazing and delightful journey from opening to dry down. If Gaia had a fragrance this would be it.

It is a powerhouse--like you took a calm tranquil green/aromatic fragrance and turned the dial up to 10. I am at a loss for words to capture what this fragrance smells like. Beyond saying it is aromatic and fresh, I can only echo images painted by much better reviewers such as the one who offered the image of a fairy doing her laundry. This certainly captures the spirit of this fragrance.

Regarding the journey this fragrance takes, there is a nondescript berry note that for me was just a transient experience at the opening along with an explosion of the green fern note. Then the fern note is fleshed out by the chamomile, narcissus and mossy vetiver in the middle to become what reminds me of being in the Hoh Rainforest in Washington state amid its lush greeness. On dry down I get the fern note, very soft vetiver and maybe a bit of leather.

I don't think this is such a dangerous blind buy for someone who loves green aromatic/fougere fragrances and who is not shy about being noticed. All others should proceed with caution. Definitely apply with a light hand (1 spray was all I could handle) or your sinuses will be blown to kingdom come.

frusia

It's not a feminine fragrance, not even unisex. Perhaps it could smell good on a man, but on me, it was hard to tolerate.

I think I really dislike the leather note, not in Bracken only, but in general. But in Bracken, it wasn't only the leather, the berries, they were very sour and had some coldness to them, as if they were taken out of a refrigerator, not found in the forest on a hot summer day. And then yes, the laundry detergent smell.

Evolutionofmyth

Yes it most certainly did smell like laundry detergent, that kind of thick, synthetic, brightly coloured kind (play doe green specifically). There's a certain mustiness too, the kind of you find on wet fabric which has been bitterly awaiting it's turn in the dryer or line. Once that fades there is a strong earth scent which is almost too synthetic to be real, I describe my reaction as unsettled and slightly confused. This scent is only tolerable, and yes I mean *tolerable*, when the so called 'fern' note drifts away. I love ferns and I'm familiar with their natural scent, this however is strange. There are most certainly white florals but I couldn't really care for them at this point.

The woody scents however retrieve it a little. If I was to like one thing about this perfume it would be them, though that is quickly ruined by a bitterness which has been present the entire time. I'm very dissapointed in this perfume, I love woody scents, anything that reminds me of wild meadows and forests, but this does not do that. I understand that many of the perfumes I adore contain synthetics, that is not my problem so much as how utterly plastic a lot of the elements in this perfume felt. There's also something else that smells pretty gross about this perfume, there is most certainly a smell of decay in this, and not the nice petrichor smell. It's almost sulphuric and barely noticeable, I don't know what it is but it fades eventually.

camilacarlos

it was said before and they are right: smells like doing laundry in a meadow. green powdered laundry detergent, but you can smell the berries. I wish they had a more diluted version of this. it is too strong for me

AoiUsagi

On a tester strip, I got all of the wild and woody nuances that the notes list promised. Sadly, on my skin the experience was much like Evarosa's– all berry, all the time, with a hint of lily. It almost reminds me of the smell of Manischewitz wine or sparkling grape juice (hey, it's Passover). So sweet and so not what I was hoping for.

MLHaskell

Wow! I'm at the point in my fragrance collecting where I am interested in new and challenging, and this sample delivered. I'm still not sure what I think, though. I loved the beginning. Everyone who writes about green, spicy, woodsy, are correct, but this is wild, confusing, exciting, and beautiful. It quickly moved to more creamy leather notes, also lovely. Finally, after 90 minutes, it is something intensely floral with something sharp to anchor it--not a note I appreciate. Not yet, anyways. I want to give this one some time. I broke down and found a vendor to send me some carefully chosen samples, because I cannot find these perfumes on any shop counter to try. I put Bracken Woman on myself immediately. I have taken a short sniff of the other samples, and I can't wait to try them. They promise to be just as unique and surprising as Bracken Woman.

LeSucreRose

This is my first Amouage fragrance (thanks to my hubby) and it is so stunning and unique! I did a lot of research before choosing Bracken as my birthday present since where we live, sampling is out of the question. The previous reviewer who described this as a forest maiden doing her laundry is spot on! It opens with beautiful green notes that are neither too masculine nor too feminine. (My husband wants to wear this as well.) And the opening is definitely not sharp in an off-putting way. It is very smooth. I also get the most gorgeous fresh, tart berry smell. Then I get the softer floral, birch, and leather notes as well as undercurrents of clean vetiver and patchouli. This definitely has a classy, free-spirited / bohemian vibe and I absolutely love it! It smells in a really good way like Irish Spring soap with berries. And it is perfect for this time of year! I think Bracken is a safe blind buy for anyone who likes unconventional, green fragrances. I also think that although unisex, this definitely leans more feminine. I like sweet powdery fragrances and Bracken is sweet enough for me. So glad my Amouage blind buy was a success!

UPDATE: The more Amouage fragrances I try (and I’m at 13 now), the more I appreciate Bracken’s beauty and uniqueness. This is my favorite Amouage so far!

Norgirl

wow ,this truly is something else . started of with a BANG . brisk sharp greenery , soapy detergent . Almost like a hairspray note at the very first minutes I feelt it back in my throuth . But then after just a few minutes the berrys softens it up abit, lending a soft little sweetness to the scent .
This truly is a nature vibe kind of scent . i was reminded of Alkemias Moss maiden upon first spray with the fern and moss greenery. I can also detect quit well the narcissus full bloom not only flower but smelling the steam and sap between your fingers aswell , Camomille mixes well with the narcissus aswell .The Birch also lends a dryness and spring kind of feel . I can not find much leather in this scent realy ,not on my skin anyway .
The top notes are abit challenging and it goes very strong , But waith for the drydown . it turns abit sweeter and mellows quit abit .
This is suited for everyday use , natural ,unik ,charming and happy . Not for the faint hearted perhaps with the strong opening and presense. But for me who love nature and live on the countryside . I cant wait to wear this properly in spring time . Have a decant so far . This is most likely going to my list of full bottles all in good time . Now i truly want to know how this is compared to Myths Amouage ..

evarosa

Notes look pretty good but on my skin the berries never let up. There might be some green action in the background but the fragrance is super sweet on me. Amouage is a wonderfully weird house.

iszzieanna

This smells like the blend of the finest woodland-fairy tea. A magical and strange alluring event. Chamomile tea with a fruity-berry flavour and boiled ferns. Definitely worth sampling, but I personally won't purchase a full bottle.

Lemxx

How can I describe my love for aromatic fragrances...
This is so unique and bold. This perfume can fill up the whole place!! Sillage is so strong and also the longevity is amazing. I find it super elegant and bold. For me this is the best Amouage perfume!!

PerfumedParrot

This is so fresh, airy and clean like powdered laundry detergent. It’s a luxurious choice for a perfect everyday fragrance. It’s a minimalist and effortless scent for a clean, white t-shirt, casual day at the office. Sometimes things don’t have to be complicated to work perfectly. This is what humans should smell of - clean, understated luxury. This is probably the only fragrance ever invented that suits EVERY situation, season, function - from those days where you just don’t care to your wedding day. It’s harmless and faultless (apart from the price I guess). If you like those all-singing-all-dancing, look-at-me-I’m-loudly-obnoxious types is scent, then bypass this one. This doesn’t have to try hard to be appreciated.

A similar (and budget Arabian) scent to this is Al-Rehab’s ‘Aroosha’.

Update: So I’ve been wearing this for a while as I got myself a full bottle. The fern and camomile combo gives a fresh but bitter green that’s camphorous. But it’s mixed with a crystalline sweetness that smells like red ruby dust has been sprinkled over the bitter wet green. This is why something so green gets a red bottle with a pink gem on the cap. Summery: it’s a bitter fresh green that’s slightly sweetened by mineralised ruby crystal.

Italian pigeon musk

Autoperks review is better than the fragrance.
This is nuclear, long lasting, doesn't quit keeps projecting especially on clothes.

I love bracken man, it's one of my favorite fragrances. I got a 2ml sample of bracken woman, first time smelling it a few days ago, I kinda liked it. I just wore it out the last 6 hours, and I don't really like this one. It's definitely fresh clean laundry, almost like cheap fabric softener smelling.

I like some aspects to it though. The opening I got a huge blast of weed, smells like sniffing a bag of marijuana buds. (I haven't smelled a bag of weed in over 15 years, but it definitely has an unmistakable scent). Fortunately it dissapears very fast and then comes in the mix berries, which at first I really liked. It was berries over this weed now turned to earthy grassy "fern" vegetation.

Unfortunately like others have mentioned it becomes like a laundry smell. It's not terrible I'm sure alot of people like this fresh clean artificially scented laundry scent, it's just not for me.
The mix berries stay there and after a little while I just couldn't stand it, sweet but in an artificial berry sweet way.

After about 3.5 hours I detected a bit of insense/smoke? Which I thought worked very nice. I think if this fragrance had a lot more insense/smoke I'd like it much more.

Overall the berries, fresh laundry, just not for me, also despite so many unisex reviews I actually felt like this leans more feminine.

Best thing about this is for the type of scent, performance is insane, projection/sillage enormous.

Balushi

Bracken Woman is classified as a fougere, but I don’t feel that it is a fougere and I am not sure why it was in the women’s line. It opens with a prominent fern accord. Now fern is actually a fantasy accord (it was actually the reason behind the fougere family), how does it smell here? It smells green, vegetal, grassy, leafy and dewy. Around a minute or two, it gets joined by a fruity berry accord with slight tartness. Then it moves to a sweet herbal chamomile and leather combo that oftens gets compared to Soleil de Jeddah, but the two fragrances are different, SdJ is a much sweeter fragrance that gets salty in the drydown and has a prominent Osmanthus while Bracken is a green fragrance mainly. I was able to detect the lily accord but only the green side of Narcissus. After a few hours, I get a light smoke and vetiver.

autoperk

The absolute Queen of greens. Sweet, creamy leather. Shot of smokey patch with a berry on top. Could be Mother nature`s signature scent. So green, I’m afraid if I over spray, sparrows might come nest in my hair. Be aware there is something alien and spikey growing in this forest.Something far removed from nature. You may ask yourself why Amouage decided to place a laundry mat deep in the woods. This is a fantasy, let`s not over think it. Besides, an uber creamy floral leather off sets any janitorial supply sharpness. I have finished my sample and I too am hooked. Looks like I`m stuck in this pine-sol-esque, fantasy fern grotto, probably for life. I want to wear this and mop my floor with it too. As for the bar b que comments below? I personally feel Bracken Woman pairs nicely with short ribs. Big Love.

A few weeks ago I saw Amouage sample vials on Fragnet for cheap so I quickly bought them, I'm always happy to test Amouage. I must say, this is one of the most delicious things I've ever smelled. My favorite from Amouage thus far, and I've enjoyed every Amouage I've tested.

Opens vibrantly green and clean minty fresh. As the greenery fades I pick up on savory spices, luminous florals, and a deep dark juicy berry note. It's mouthwateringly delicious, like opening my spice cabinet and inhaling deeply. It's peppery, prickly, piquant, it tickles the nose. The heart fades to dense woods and a dark, dry smoke, where it lounges comfortably for the remainder of its life. Wonderful stuff.

Blacktundras's BBQ sauce comment is hilarious, I completely understand where she's coming from. This is a smoky, savory fragrance that is better suited to men, I don't know why it's marketed at women. If you dislike herbal, spicy, smoky, woody... this perfume is not for you.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous.

Blacktundras

This smells straight disgusting. Instead of "greenery", I smell nothing short of underwhelming BBQ sauce that's been left on the counter for way too long. YUCK. It actually turns my stomach to smell this and I'm not all sensitive or a newbie to niche fragrances. I know this is supposed to be a complex scent, but it's a hell no for me! The woman's line for Amouage is severely lacking in my opinion. The men's line is actually more wearable for women, which is so freakin weird.

julheart

Sharp herbal greenery in the initial spray. So overwhelming I almost ran away...
The berries come through not long later, just barely, mixed with a dirt/earthy smell. I literally feel like I'm walking through ferns and greenery in the middle of a summer taiga forest, picking different berries. Small white flowers peek through now and then. It does not smell sweet, or artifical, or even definitively like a 'perfume'. Just pure dark green nature.
This is so unique and powerful. I can close my eyes and it transports me.
I love good forest scents and this is up there with Ormonde Woman, despite being quite different.
As Mullane recommended below...
"Get yourself a sample, force yourself to finish it and soon enough you won’t be able to live without it."

mapache

Received a sample of this.

WOW ! I love this.
Unique, for sure.
What a melange of notes. I get green/herbal/fougere.....florals: yellow, white. Berries & light leather.
The dry down does get more "simple"....but this leaves a lasting great impression.
Decent performance too.
Full bottle worthy.

bethjwb

Very much not what I was expecting, but then I don’t think I knew what to expect from reading the notes here. This is surprisingly powerful - my single test spray from a tiny atomiser was immediately smellable from arm’s length. I see why this is called Bracken, because once you get your nose into it it really does smell like a hillside covered in ferns (as someone who grew up around hillsides covered in ferns). There are berry notes that start off pretty backgrounded but get a bit stronger and sweeter as this dries, although it’s never truly sweet. Whatever leather accord is in here doesn’t come across as in your face leather, which is good for me because I seem to have a dodgy history with leather scents. I think it’s more just imparting a slightly tannic edge. This is actually really unique. If you’re after a slightly cheaper scent with a similar vibe, Brocard’s Russian Princess is also wild berries with a tannic edge.

MissChanel85

This is so good! Berries and thick, wet woods and leather. Sexy and better than Chloe Nomade!

PKSMKE

Maybe we just perceive smells differently, but I don't get forest floor from Bracken Woman at all. It's green, but it's the same extremely sweet green that you would find in Estee Lauder Private Collection. As it dries down, I find it more and more similar to that fragrance. I like Amouage scents, but as I already have Private Collection, I don't need this (at it's much higher price tag.)

108gilda

Where are all the Fougere fragrances for women?? I really want that fresh forest floor without masculine undertones. This fragrance at first made me feel nauseous (but then I have a sensitive nose and most Amouage fragrances are potent in my opinion). The next time I tried it, my nose sought out the Fern in it, and was delighted to find it! I am not a fan of narcissus unfortunately or I would probably really like this. So rare to find.

brokesta911

Amouage Bracken (2016) - nature walk - #dorotheepiot and #karinespenher created a universal fougere that has no trace of Amouage’s incense! It reminds me walking a nature hike: Ferns, Chamomile flowers, Ripe berries, earthy Vetiver and Patchouli. I also get a leather back-pack vibe! Gentlemen, dont be afraid of the “woman” mark on the packaging. This is perfectly universal and can go head to head with Green Irish Tweed.

GabbieSmithWindley

Smells like a bohemian forest fairy is doing her laundry. She uses the vegetation of her surroundings to create her own all natural laundering soap, and the aromas of the hang-dry clothing brims beyond the trees at which they waft about. An underappreciated gem from the house of Amouage, as many of their subpar-rated fragrances tend to be.

roseyessence

One word--- Clean. Very, very, very clean hot laundry. That is what this wonderful perfume smells like in my opinion
Smells like a freshly, ironed starched white cotton button shirt/blouse.
Smells like a high end public laundry mat. That smell you get once you get the clothes out of a very hot dryer, in this dryer a lot of people have dried their clothes and left different detergent smells within, that, that is what I get and it is beautiful.
The opening is a tad harsh but it rests soon afterwards.
The only other perfume in my arsenal that I can compare this to is Swiss Arabian's Al Basel and I love this one too

Rosita61

I bought a sample of Bracken (along with Lyric and Epic) from Lucky Scent last spring. I was so repulsed by it when I first smelled it, I branded it “xx” on the label so to remember it was a HELL NO fragrance on me. I remember it was very potent and sharp. Today, I decided to try it again and OMGosh, a complete total opposite reaction. I’m obsessed with it on my skin. It’s sweet, juicy fruits with woodyness to it. I don’t know how else to describe it, but It’s definitely going to be my next purchase. Only thing is that it barely lasted 3 hours on my skin. Like, gone-gone. Not even a skin scent. I’ll assume that it’s due to the sample applicator type (it’s not the sprayer kind) because I see that the majority of reviewers have rated the longevity and sillage quite strong.

Fz69

Beautiful scent ! Fresh spicy aromatic smell. I don't have any similar to this in my collection and I'm glad I bought this juice.

tessture

Okay, and I get the synthetic mess but it’s not terrible. There’s definite forest green in there with bark and moss and some mold, and it’s oddly matched with sweet berries and murky leather so the result is a bit of a weird gluey melange. Again, not as bad as that sounds but odd. For a few minutes it flirts with being very perfume-y in a clashing way, but that drifts by to green wood, stinging green leaves and that odd hint of sweet berry juice that isn’t quite berries. I think the floral notes ruin it, frankly. The sweet gluey notes take it out of true forest territory. Also develops piercing wood notes as it dries down. Pass

arrowdk

I really cannot add too much except that I unconditionally love this scent. All the wonderful herbal, bitter, green etc. facets are adorable and to me it is a minor miracle since lily is usually one note I avoid as it turns bad on my skin. Bracken is just out of this world.
Does anyone know who was the perfumer?

dessybg

uliana.zlotnik

what is this magic ?! tried several amouages was about to declare there's nothing there for me - and then one sniff of this
forest pixie and I'm hooked I found the one! I want to smell like it all the time - it starts fresh - fresh green leaves and berries then it goes to the backround and its more soury fruity the leather grounds it down and gives it luxurious feel - the leather here is way in the back, its subtle just to make it serious and not a fruity juice smell. its great its just getting better on the skin cant get enough - my next buy totally

brumbarche

The base is somewhat the same as Hermes' Elixir des M, but here the top is green/ rainforesty/botanical and there is sweetened orange. Obviously they smell different, but the richness, quality and the classy feel is the same to me. I'm dying for the fern note here. Very distinct and not at all barbershop-like. The color of the bottle is a very good choice. I can picture Mila Jovovic wearing this in the movie the 5th Element, with the orange bob and JPG futuristic outfit. Very unique and worth taking your time with it in cool humid weather. Just try it on a rainy day, just one spray on the wrist. It will take you to one of these Amouage journeys.

Mullane

Get yourself a sample, force yourself to finish it and soon enough you won’t be able to live without it. 💚

Singabera

To me it's mix of fluffy yellow narcissus pollen and rotten water lily stems.
It's not disgusting or bad, just quite peculiar.
Have similar vibe to Eden Cacharel thou they are really different.

giggle_butt

Let's make this quick: either you LOVE Bracken, or you hate it. TBH I think Bracken smells pretty much the same on everyone. It's not your skin's chemistry that needs to be right for it, it's your preference/personality.
I wanted to try the earthy green of all greens and I was not disappointed. This perfume has such a green thumb it ALMOST could cure me of my brown thumb. This is the mother earth of all greens.

This is for those that identify as woman; not a girl, not a lady, a fucking woman. Bracken is the first perfume to actively empower me. I find myself drawn to it as this beautiful intoxicating scent: healthy dirt thriving after rain and sprouting the most delicious tomatoes.
Because this is so much its own thing, it doesn't conform to any single vibe; night, day, hot, cold, doesn't matter. You can smell like a lusciously damp forest any time, baby!

Quite frankly, Bracken doesn't give a damn if you like it or not. You don't wear this for others, you wear this fully and unapologetically for yourself.

Unfortunately, my partner hates it. Had he loved it, I would have considered buying a bottle at full price. Even still, I will keep it on my wishlist <3

UPDATE: Several hours and I'll be honest maybe I'm just horny but this baby went down a totally unexpected sexy musky path. It's intoxicating in a whole different way now.

Chelsea4992

Hm- I got a sample from lucky scent for this because the reviews seemed like the exact thing I wanted. Green, fresh, earthy. But this smells to me just like dank weed.. Like you can’t detect anything other than weed- but no one on Fragrantica has mentioned weed at all— Maybe luckyscent sent the wrong thing— which has always been my worry ordering decants!

KatieKeene

This reminds me a lot of Amazone by Hermes (the newer version) only, honestly, I think I like Amazone better. This was the most expensive blind buy I've ever made and while I do like it, the berries in the top note are SCREECHY combined with the other herbaceous notes. After a few minutes the top notes mellow down and are quite nice. I'm gonna go with what other reviewers say and suggest you get a sample before buying because it's a hefty price tag and it's not for everyone.

Galimard no. 5

I had given up on this house.
I was either anosmic to them, or overwhelmed by something that I did not like.
Then, my fragrance fairy godmother suggested that I try this.
What a wonderful green, herbal, fruity, and floral, experience this is. Little explosions of dazzling scent! There is nothing like it anywhere.
Love at first sight.

Littleengine

This is the first Amouage fragrance I have ever fallen in love with. It combines notes that might seem to resist one another into a very gratifying, and constantly changing, whole. It is a scent that keeps me attentive and curious, because each layer in its development is unexpected. I have just a tiny sample spray, and I rarely purchase new full bottles. But this goes to the top of my wish list.

osy2017

A blind buy for me... I do not advise it... but I love this fragrance, it is so beautiful and elegant!!! It is also strong and with very good projection, of course it is Amouage. It is green, fresh, complex modern goodnesses. I think is one of those you love or hate, so be careful and sample first.

Lulushka

A couple of years ago, we had a moment when it seemed like green perfumes were everywhere. I suspect this happened because there was a new narcissus material on the market, or at least a bumper crop of the stuff, because all at once we had a glorious green Renaissance: Tom Ford’s formidable green trilogy (Vert d’Incense, Vert Fleur, and Vert du Bois), Papillon’s glorious , Masque Milano’s , and Amouage’s Bracken Man and Woman are just some of the marquee names that appeared during that short time.

All of these perfumes felt like home to a girl like me, who bonded early with Chanel No. 19 and whose grandmother—whose favorite color was green—spent most of her later years in vintage YSL Y (not the newfangled Y marketed for guys—the delicate springlike Y from the heyday of green perfumes half a century ago). I know these older perfumes because they made up the atmosphere of my childhood. They’re so deep in my subconscious that I feel closer to them than the more stereotypical comfort scents of vanilla and resin (although I love those too now). Green scents may not always envelope you in a bosomy maternal hug, but they can give you confidence companionship and strength—a sense of self-reliance, and independence. Those perfumes became perfect emblems of second-wave feminism, when green scents were everything seemed new, and it appeared that young people might be capable of reshaping the tired and violent old world in their image. Some were tenderhearted, like Guerlain’s beautiful Chamade, with its soft and sweet rosy heart—a perfume inspired by a gentle but passionate and untamable literary and cinematic heroine. Some were were fierce, like Piguet’s Futur, a perfume made for a space warrior like Jane Fonda’s Barbarella. And some were grounded, like Raymond Weil’s earth mama Weil de Weil, a sorcerress in a tower surrounded by an enchanted forest and acres of gardens chock full of magic and medicinal foliage, filled with sharp herbs, dank greens, and the tingling warmth of spicy roots—ginseng, ginger and galangal.

Bracken Woman reminds me most of the last of these. Its greatness—and it really is great—relies on its triangulation of greens so dark that they almost smell swampy and a scarlet streak of patchouli. Most scents that bring together these elements rely on citrus and heroine—think Diorella and Eau Savage—but Bracken Woman’s construction is more austere, pulling in Weil de Weil’s brilliant lily of the valley (Fragrantica says lily, but it’s not *that* lily), a shockingly white streak among all the earthy shades of green and maroon, of a peppery basket of fresh spinach, mustard greens, and radicchio, straight from the garden. This gives the composition a conceptual coherence that locates it firmly in the woods, a wildness that feels at home near cold oceans breaking on limestone cliffs, pine forests with canopies so high you can’t see them, and a fragrant carpet of brown needles and mushrooms at your feet.

I know a sparkling Ivory soap musk might seem out of place in this witchy concoction, but it’s the lynchpin of the composition, a beam of silvery moonlight that gives the other materials an unearthly glow. Wearing Bracken Woman feels like a suit of armor, but without the sharpness and inflexibility of steel or iron. It’s the armor of confidence, of a clear understanding of the natural world and one’s place in it. It’s witchy as Stevie Nicks bur polished as Helen Mirren; it’s as animal-sexy as Anita Pallenberg but as tough-smart as Marianne Faithfull. It’s a perfume for modern warrior princesses and queens, on the battlefields of boardrooms, cyberspace, sales floors, and wherever your adventures take you next.

And of course it’s sexy; confidence and self-knowledge are the sexiest qualities a person can have. Perfume can’t make you a better or wiser person, but wearing it can help light the way to your own path, and knowing yourself is the locus of all wisdom.

Amouage Bracken for Women has very mixed reviews. This fragrance is unlike anything Amouage has created before. Had I smelt this fragrance blind I would have assumed that it was a new release from the Hermes Jardin line, composed by Jean-Claude Ellena.

Bracken for Women is true to its name. It smells of forest woods, green vegetal undergrowth and juicy fruits. Unusual and oddly captivating, this green, herbaceous number is fun to smell on paper, but not particularly comforting on the skin.

The green accords blended with the wild tart berries are sharp and rather confronting in the opening. It is the smell of freshly crushed stem, leaves and foliage that tends to be a little nose-burning. The drydown introduces more earthy tones and a salty vetiver accord which I enjoy far better.

Lily and narcissus attempt to sweeten and elevate the composition, however, I find their presence short-lived on my skin. I get a lot of green leaves, fruits and damp vetiver, which is sadly not my cup of tea. Bracken for Women I suspect is quite reliant on skin chemistry, so with that being said, this is not a recommended blind buy.

Amouage is going down a more experiment-driven path, and whilst I encourage daring compositions, I must admit that their new releases don't do justice for their brand. As a Middle Eastern niche house, I feel that orientals and lush florals suit their brand better.

Try before you buy, I cannot stress this enough.

I am wearing a single spray from a 5 ml sample of Amouage Bracken I bought on eBay.co.uk Applied the spray about an hour ago. It is a sunny July day in England. Temperature 21C.

First impression was of sugary sweetness mixed with something oily and bitter. I tasted this fragrance before I smelt it. I was disappointed. But this impression was very brief.

Within five minutes, the fragrance developed into a heady floral dominated by carnations and lilies. Behind these magnificent florals is a layer of scent that I cannot name but it feels sweet and velvety - an olfactory evocation of the touch of rose petals.

At the beginning of each inhalation and at the end of each exhalation, like the ends of a bell curve, I get something sharper which reminds me of lemon sherbet but more sherbet than lemon or maybe a lemony pepper and more pepper than lemon. This sherbet-pepper sharpness stops the sweet florals becoming cloying. It is like refreshing the palate between courses at a banquet. It also tickles my nose and makes me sneeze.

Because the fragrance continually refreshes my nose with each breath, it is continually a new sensation and does not become tiresome to wear. Apart from the occasional sneeze ;-)

This consideration from the fragrance makes me feel cared for. This is a fragrance that mothers me. She is a wealthy mother able to pamper me with luxurious indulgence.

In future, I will wear this when I need to feel mothered or motherly towards others. Or want to feel like royalty.

I get nothing herbal or bitter or green or any of the notes most reviewers mention when discussing Amouage Bracken.

Have I been sent the wrong sample?

The seller also listed Amouage Lyric - has he sent me Lyric instead of Bracken?

Whatever this is, it is delicious. But not what I was expecting...

The danger and delight of buying samples online.

mmmmgood

I think I reviewed this once...I rarely review, twice. But this stuff calls for it, in my opinion. I wanted to wear it, more than a few times, before I REALLY dug in with an opinion.

The first time I wore it, I smiled, because I knew it was going to be a blind purchase that I wouldnt regret. Its something of a gift...the ability to size a scent up, based on note construction, and give it a whirl. I have NEVER blind bought a perfume and regretted it. I dont mind bragging abnout that. And I dont blind buy, often.

So, here goes. The very first time I sniffed this, I thought of that Prince tune "Rasberry Beret". Yup!...because I get the feeling, this is what Prince's mansion, smells like..or better yet, what "His Purple Highness", would smell like, himself. Like paradise..like a fruity, fresh smelling, otherworldy, surrealistic space-in-time, paradise..

this stuff is drop dead gorgeous. The bottle is ok...nothing to write home about, right?..a tomato vibe. And I read a review where someone thinks this perfume smells like a tomato patch. And Im like "Wait..what?..a tomato?".

sorry but thats inaccurate. This smells like a field of berries (cant discern what kind of berries, really). But I smell berries, surrounded by ultra-fresh, green-ness, and fresh, crisp woodiness.

And as is usually the case, with this house...this particular scent, smells better than its male counterpart. To me, this is an Amouage masterpiece. One of their better juices. And the perfume you should reach for, if "Myths Woman" is too much for you. Bracken Woman, is the good witch. And Myths Woman, is the bad witch of the House of Amouage.

Cherry_Darling

Definitely stands out amongst amouages. Super fresh like cut grass, more "green" than herbal for me. No medicinal feel just fresh natural greens with a touch of sweetness.

Fruity vs. Sweet

I need to talk about this before I do my review. And I will frame it within terms of alcohol.

So I'm normally a dry/bitter person, but I live in the Midwestern US, and the make a lot of sweet and fruity wine and beer around here. I've developed a taste for them, and I do love wine that is dry but has a pronounced fruity note. Not sweet--but pure fruit. There's a beer called Soft Parade that is a ale that is brewed with raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. It tastes like beer but has a lovely fruity backbone. That's what I like. I DON'T like drinks that are all sugary sweet concoctions that have no other aspect besides a radiating sweetness that basically blunts my entire palate. So when I say sweet/fruity, that's what I'm talking about.

Anyway onto Amouage BRACKEN

This has gotten really mixed reviews but I for one positively love it! It has a perfect mixture of green, floral, and a genuinely natural fruity sweetness that I adore. Actually I've not smelled anything like it in terms of attitude and performance. I was out weeding yesterday in my back woodland garden, and the smell of cut greens, earth, and sweet summertime wildflowers on the wind was intoxicating. After I came in and showered, I wanted to wear Bracken, because I wanted to still feel that peaceful summertime happiness.

This whole perfume is rather linear. It opens with a green note that will punch you in the face. Fresh like the first hot day of summer that brings out all the nuances of the freshly bloomed greenery. It's definitely the green of leaves and ferns and stems, bright and happy. Add that simultaneously to the fruity berry accord. It smells like a handful of berries that you just picked and plucked into your basket. Underlying that is the lovely jasmine-narcissus note all radiant and white and sunny.

And that's mostly what Bracken smells like. Greenery, sweet mixed berries, and white flowers. Only as it dries down to I detect a hint of a drier more austere lily, and once it dries even more I can smell a slightly darker in tone vetiver. There is a hovering sense of green tea there too (chamomile tea?) But no where do I ever smell leather, birch, smoke, or any of that. This is bright, sunny, green, and fruity all the way.

Bracken has incredible sillage and strength and lasting power, do not use more than two full sprays! Warning! And I can smell it completely practically full strength until the next day. Lasts even longer on clothing.

Joys of life

Bugspray and dandelions mellowing into mimosa, narcissus and dry vetiver. I like it a lot, it’s definitely unconventional and almost gamey aroma intrigues me. I think of cool spring air and clouds of pollen plus blooming yellow flowers! Reminds me of amarige plus a gamey green note I can’t quite define, probably the fern and patch together.

shushkin

It is a wonderful spring scent. You can almost hear the squelch of spring leaf sap. The narcissis and fern go so well together. I grow a few different ferns and it does indeed make me think of the fresh clean new leaves unfurling in spring.
I do get a little Vetiver in the background along with the leather and birch. There is just enough juicy fruity sweetness to keep this feminine but I think it could be unisex. I do get the Lily as well. It goes so well in this composition. It's not screechy or heavy.
The overall impression is of a spring fresh herbal delight backed by a natural fruity sweetness, Lily and birch. Good longevity and sillage. It's not a beast on my skin but then I am in a very cool room.

Strikar

I am a man who owns both Bracken Woman and Bracken Man. I frequently layer both though not on the same spot. Bracken Woman (BW) is potent requiring only 2 sprays one on the chest and one between shoulder blades. The freshly ground green notes are a WOW factor and this beastess lasts forever >12 hours but I cannot say how long as I have to shower by that mark. The green effect lasts just as long on my skin. With layering with BM one spray either side of your neck and you good to go forever. Can be polarizing to some but Amouage knows niche and they know how to make you stand out from the crowd.

mmmmgood

Bracken Woman, is the perfume you seek out, when Myths Woman, didn’t work for you. If you’re into green, herbal bombs, this will grow on you. No pun intended..

rinma

I can't stand it, I wish I could enjoy it, but after trying a few times, I still find it nauseous.
Something in it smells like decomposition.

DAMNTHATSGOOD

Reminds me of Soleil de jeddah shl 777.
A little screechy but very nice.

Maddog7

interesting and enjoyable, vegetal and woodsy in the beginning, it seem to settle down into a sweet cake

miracleborgtech

Amouage is savvy in making rich perfumes. Their inspiration of 1960's counterculture and the "Summer of Love" for Bracken Woman is not a readily apparent connection, other than being described as a scent for the modern hippie. BW is actually an ecological microcosm, a surprisingly rich slice of nature. Like being in a moorland scrub area and having bruised plants enclose you as you trek through the brambles. Abundant mature berries, thick underbrush filled with dried flowers and grasses, and traces of all sorts of wonderful organic life.

The berries serve as a bright focal point, with a hint of tartness that makes your mouth water. Bracken fern adds atmosphere, a feral green that accents the berries perfectly. Chamomile, a dry herbal aroma, combined with vetiver, compliments the juiciness of the berries with grassy luxuriance. Then there are subtle inflections. Lily, a verdant freshness. Patchouli (a nod to Amouage's inspiration of the 60's), an herbal earthy whisper. Along with leather and a host of other notes, they tint the accord with complexities, layers, highlights, and transitions. My nose was glued to my skin not wanting to miss anything.

Amouage's modern hippie must love nature, or at least nature inspired notes. This is a botanical homage to represent boho chic! I loved it all, with a small caveat. The green notes were sometimes a little too wild, with a tiny bitter feeling - maybe galbanum. Or possibly from using synthetics, but happily it's not too distracting. The incredible berry note and amazing complexity makes up for it. Good sillage and longevity - potent!

SuzanneS

Bracken is a green fern and herbal chamomile opening with narcissus as a floral undercurrent. The chocolate patchouli blends with the vetiver for a earthy, rooty, bitter fragrance set against a mild berry. I feel that the Vetiver presence is pretty dominant through it's wearing. Some people love it while to others it's a bitter nemesis. It does lean unisex with it's herbal leather qualities. A slight smokiness and dampness permiates at times adding a dark mysteriousness to the story. A modern 60s boho chic fragrance updated to modern times. Enchanting and unique. It's vintage closest counterpart would be Arden Memoir Cherie.

eamaccready

This fragrance is a little hard to describe. It feels very sunny and a little warm, but green/herbal and woodsy and leathery with summer berries and I do get a bit of narcissus or white floral. It's very unusual and nice for spring. I'll agree with some other reviewers and say it's strong and I also think it can be rather love it or hate it perfume. I really like it though, I'll likely purchase a full bottle.

My dark-skinned girlfriend had exactly the same experience as below.

Gorgeous opening. Drop dead gorgeous. Lame finish.

Sue Oakhill

When I received a tester of this, I was immediately totally in love with this scent... sprayed it on and couldn't take my nose from my wrist. So green, so fresh, so unique... different of anything else I ever smelled.

I actually don't know how fern smells, but if that's the prominent head note you get, it's gorgeous. I almost went back to the shop to buy it right away after spraying it on the first time.

Now to the downside: Glad I waited with buying. It develops on my skin not very well, meaning: the whole great head note vanishes and is replaced by a very harsh something (the vetiver? the patchouli?) which stays and stays and stays... it gets me coughing and sneezing, and even just a trace on my sleeve haunted me for days.

Sadly to say, I can't wear it. The shop assistant said, that it develops best on darker skin (no offence, I don't know how to say it in the political correct way these days), so not suitable for my light, european skin. Not sure if that's nonsense, but I guess so.

As a conclusion: If there wasn't that harsh, biting, ever staying base note, I would be running and buy 10 bottles right away! ;)

Tracyarts

At first sniff, it reminds me of the original Herbal Essence shampoo from the 1970s. Herbaceous, green, a little bitter, and detergent-y.

I do smell the sour berry and leather notes.

I like it, it definitely has a garden vibe to it. I can smell tomato leaves too. moderate projection and staying power. The more I smell it, the more I like it. Smelling it makes me smile. I'm a gardener, and this smell is my happy place.

Jamiljames

I have worn the sample of this and find it an interesting scent. It is one I am still unsure if I like or dislike.
There is definitely a tomato leaf like smell to this scent. To me there is a bitterness that comes through.
When I smelt this scent on my skin it did remind me slighlty of the smell of stagnant water on clothes. It reminded me of the smell of clothing that had not dried properly and had a strange off putting smell.
Most recent Amouage releases have been complex. My advice would be to try the scent to form an opinion. Personally I would say this is a challenging scent to wear.

black_orchid

Smells like my grandmother's tomato garden. Weird!

KDW17

All I can say is, this stuff is very well named. Smells just like its name, which is not how I really want to smell. Damp leaves on a forest floor on a rainy day - yuk. Glad I only got a 2ml sample, I won't even use that up.

LittleParfumista

My first really big disappointment with Amouage. I can't even name the scent type, it's sort of tutti-fruity, but also both sweet and sour at the same time, kind of heavy green and just weird. To me it smells like a combination of fern, camomile, soured berries, vetiver and some kind of moss...

Not a pleasant combination for my nose. A big big NO for this one.

Too bad as the bottle is just so lovely....

Q80

Where are the beaches, and apricots??

This one in particular has that chamomile apricots with leather mild narcissus. It's more of a sweet fruitti fragrance than floral. Quite interesting.

NZFH

This is like the friendlier face of Myths Woman. Somebody said in a Youtube review that Myths was the older, uglier sister of Bracken Woman - I have to agree. I cannot think of a better analogy.

I see (smell) these as similar, related fragrances because they both consist of green notes pasted over a leather base. Bracken is fresher and lighter green. Myths is older darker green. And moldering.

Bracken Woman is a strange quirky fragrance. Definitely not run-of-the-mill.

Really, it's the easier to wear, entry-level Myths Woman!

Varieté Trivial

The opening is gloriously green, beyond all expectation. Then, after half an hour on my skin i turns into horrid toilet cleanser. Won't come off after scrubbing with soap. Too bad.
Do not blind buy this one.

Carpe Noctem

This one really surprised me!

After spraying it, I really didn't like it. It was SO floral-I think it was the narcissus. But then 25 minutes later the base notes came in and I was in love. So warm, woodsy and patchouli with a lasting berry note that I loved.

Great longevity too. The next morning I could still smell it, especially the berry.

Aromatic AND Smooth !!

This perfume is amazing...
Although I somehow expected it to be mainly aromatic (which is often Good in my book), Bracken has a lovely creamy side to it.
On skin I do experience a bitter note (probably caused by birch and leather in combination with the chamomile), but the wafts around me are all about the three flowers: Narcissus, Lily and some Chamomile.
Bracken is gorgeous and unique, a fantastic natural -summer- perfume with a little sting.

I am sold, or rather: It's gonna cost me... :p

If you are an Amouage lover like I am, prepare to adjust your expectations before trying Bracken Woman. it's going to take quite awhile before you figure out what links this to the others of the line, though it is there.
Before I get in to the scent itself, I want to say how beautifully the name, the packaging and the scent go together. Everything fits together perfectly and there is a pleasure in that alone.
The fragrance itself I would describe as green notes with berries. It's very pretty, quite light but long lasting and the kind of impressionistic and completely synthetic take on nature that I would expect from Byredo or possibly something Jean Claude Ellena might do for Hermes. Now I think this is an extraordinarily difficult style of scent to do well. It always seems like there are inevitable bare patches in this type of scent or where they don't last long or turn screechy in the dry down. What's amazing about Bracken is it's cohesiveness. It smells great all the way through, evolves slowly and elegantly and comes to a dry down that is both satisfying and seemingly inevitable.
This cohesiveness is what makes Amouage such a great house. There's something about how thoughtfully everything is put together that is like being a in a really well run hotel or reading a great author. The sense is "I can relax - they've got this." The people at Amouage respect your time and nothing they put out will waste it.
In a way, Bracken makes me respect Amouage more because I don't like this kind of scent but I still have no regrets about spending a day with her and I'm even willing to consider spending more time to see if she can persuade me.

Pianomelody

A perfume full of colors, woody and inebriating. A very young and different scent! A little frizzantine evokes a late summer... very full, complex. An unforgettable scent, I like it, i love it! ❤

I absolutely love it. Berries, green and a tart citrus. I got something like a pomelo at first. 5 hrs later, it is this beautiful dry down of leather and musk.

Old Herbaceous

This is REALLY different, and I like it. A lot. The opening is definitely like being outside in a landscape where fruit is growing. I smell an intense green (the fern), plus the wild berry note. It is slowly becoming more floral on my skin; I agree with others that the chamomile comes through more than lily or narcissus so far. I'll have to add to this comment when I've worn it longer. Right now it reminds me of a pick-your-own field of raspberries we visited on a trip to England some time ago. Sunny, summery, green with hints of fruit. Really great, and nothing like any other fragrance I've seen on the market. It strikes me as a perfect scent for a gardener who doesn't want to wear something very floral.

broomflower

This is the closest perfume to a field of flowers I have smelled. The various smells come in waves--hay, grass, lilacs, ferns, lilies... Very long lasting and bright. Floral without being cloying. Absolutely gorgeous!

Soofiya

Just a single glance at notes pyramid and accords is enough to make me pass this one.I avoid herbal, aromatic scents and the fact that it is an amouage(very expensive and usually not my taste)made me not dare approach bracken but destiny wanted me to try it and showed it's will by sending me a sample of it and I can't say no to a free sample so I dabbed a little on my finger and waited for an oldactory story to begin
It's opening is totally different with my imaginations.I can't detect wildberries whatsoever.there's something fresh, fruitlike but not berry like, lemony a little sour but not zest or juicy and a tad green green.I don't have any idea how fern smells but this is my imagination of lemongrass.well this green, lemony freshness which is pleasant to my nose lingers all through it's development and keeps the scent bright, refreshing, natural and springy
Florals start to bloom while woody notes mingle lightly.chamomile is the strongest note and you know it's a flower with aromatic, herbal twists so don't look for a typical feminine white floral bunch here.nothing in this fragrance is typical.almost always chamomile in perfumes make me remember my mom's hand cream but not here.vetiver gives it enough of woody, earthy facets so that it never brings chamomile scented hand or heel crack creams to mind.on my skin leather doesn't showup in first 40 minutes.then it enters our story and tries to ground bracken's sharp edges.it can't totally succeed in that purpuse, instead warms it up and adds a touch of luxurious formal vibe and prevents bracken from going to an overly sporty fresh, woodsy path.so that it's warm and fresh at the same time and woods and leather don't appear too manly so it never turns to a totally masculine scent (though it's not totally feminine either.it's a unisex scent in my book)
Longevity and sillage seem to be amazing as I dabbed just a little and it projects ass if I had sprayed several times.it's still not my type .I can't love it and I won't add it to my wishlist but I appreaciate it's high quality, originality and uniqueness and I highly recommend everyone to test it
Whenever I test amouages I wish that amouage made miniatures of it's fragrances wildly available(ofcourse not with ridiculous price tags)if there was a mini of it I'd definitely buy it.it's not my type and I don't like to wear it but I'd love to go on an olfactory dream travel with it.it takes me to a journey on nature.among woods and greens and fresh air and sun warmth
Though I don't like it as my perfume I have to be fair,it's a great job from amouage
BTW,color of it's bottle doesn't fit the scent IMO.a bright flashy green would be better, something like the color of fern in notes list

shiva-woman

I'm a hard-core Amouage fan, and while my main stays are woods, resin, incense, oud and rose perfumes, I frequently wander (happily) into other territories. While Amouage's recent release of Lilac did not overwhelm me, it did show what the line was doing in terms of playing toward a French aesthetic and Western taste. So I was: a) mentally prepared for this new type of Amouage, and b) thoroughly excited based on the notes, though in general I'm not huge on berries, c) the marketing name "Bracken" worked its spell.

And my goodness this perfume does not disappoint. This may be my absolute favorite of the line. It is stunning, unique, and conjures up so many memories of idling my youthful hours in the mountains by the creek where berries grew, my dad's work gloves in the garage next to the creek, the water cress, lemon balm, and mint all comingling (not listed notes, but the general mountain greeness, a note that the air captures, the cedars waft). In March and April, the daffodils and narcissus bloom along with tulips and white bells. The hills are known for it this time of year. There are many lovely haute leather iris perfumes out there that also inhabit this elegant space, and this one does as well with the leather, but with so much more.

This is simultaneously elegrant, frosty, cold, sharp, formal and at the same time, wild, ferociously overgrown, herbaceously lush with moist dark dirt. All the notes are present, and alternate minute to minute (not a linear perfume).
Although I too identified it as a more spring summer scent, it's not "light." Today, it's raining hard, April, and I'm headed up to the mountains. Give up your notions of Fate, or Interlude, Epices, Memoir. This is different. My new Amouage and another reminder of the hills I love.

Hotaxis

Another gorgeous and addictive fragrance from Amouage.

In the opening you can easily detect a green sharp note within slight tinge of dry berry sweetness that is just sublime.
it is super powerful as you can sniffing nothing.

absolutely perfect and the smells like Fern and Oak leans on the sweetness side transformed into an expensive unisex wearable scent,
45minutes into it is when the green note starts to fade.
you can shifting into Chamomile and Narcissus all at the same time afterwards, very impressive development, floral earthy aroma,
this scent is stunning concoction that created for women for sure.
4 hours later, you like the drydown a lot, It's soft and leathery.

The sillage and longevity are perfect, and performance is quite excellent.

Amandaa

Quite dissapointed by this one. I'm usually a big Amouage fan so i was excited with this new fragrance but when i received my sample: blargh! At the beginning its smells very sharp, it made me sick and i am not too sensitive with smells so it was pretty bad....after 10 minutes it gets softer but this green note ( i suppose the fern?) persists loudly the entire time. I usually do like green fragrances but this one is just too strong for my taste, it got me nauseated. :-(

Cams

I'm hooked on this fragrance. Lightly green, fresh, floral, earthy, complex and sensual on the skin. I feel it's magic with every step I take. My favourite Amouage to date! A must try.

oktopusy

Let me just say a word or two about this newest Amouage. I tried it early this morning, and went straight back to the parfumerie to buy it in the afternoon. It didn't take much to convince me, it's a fabulous perfume, unusual, quite potent and with a noticeable aura. It's crazy, sharp, greenish woody beginning combined with a tempestuous leather note noticeable throughout it's development place it quite firmly in the fougere category in my humble opinion. I detect no flowers nor berries. Word of caution though: don't blind-buy it, don't wear it in hot weather, and don't even consider it if you're of delicate disposition!

shushkin

Oh no! I really love this fragrance. I will end up living on bread and water.
My first thought was Badedas bubble bath. Uncanny.
It transports to a British woodland with all the bracken and brambles on a warm sunny autumn day. Its first and foremost aromatic yet fresh and warm.
Very well blended as you would expect but I can just about make out the chamomile and vetiver.
Big sillage and very good longevity.

almarhoobi

Its very strong perfume and very unique.

you can enjoy in a spring time outdoor just one to tow sprays is enough.

G_Alinka

Far from my favourite olfactory groups but I cannot help admiring an amazing box pattern!
