Gorgeous and refined vanilla.
Very versatile.
And i get a beautiful scent bubble (not beast mode) when i wear it.
Just perfect.

DuneN

Performs like high quality lux fragrance, nice, but not special, very over priced

Mademoiselle Rêve

Beautiful, refined, sophisticated. A boozy vanilla with woody feminine background. Longevity when I myself can smell it on me reaches from a couple of hours to a day. At the beginning I thought it has rather intimate projection, but it seems to be more than that - a male colleague standing about 1,5 meters from complimented me on how beautiful I smell, and that came from a very reserved man who barely comments on anything. I wore it for the first time, so I was happy about such charming feedback.

buonobi

I don't think this smells like Dama Bianca & SDV.. They are so different.
To my nose, this smells like Eau duelle more.
Sadly, the performance is so disappointing.
The sillage is so weak and the longevity is just like a wind.

Kaareneparker

This is very soft on me, not much projection. It’s a lovely warm vanilla with a gorgeous dry down. It’s rather simple but elegant. I really enjoy this scent but the lasting power is t great and it doesn’t project… so if you’re looking for a power fragrance this is not it. It’s stay real close.

Miss Maven Moon

I always have a tendency to buy similar fragrances in 3's. I recently got SDV and Dama Bianca and this is if both of them had a baby. Although this is staged as a night fragrance, i'd totally feel comfortable wearing this during the day.

Raina

I'm in love with the dry down. It's a deep boozy vanilla with some woods for extra depth. A perfect winter night scent. Sadly, I really dislike the opening hour or so where this is just all woods and smoke. There's something really unpleasant in that opening, like shoving your nose into cheap men's shaving cream, and I have to conclude it's the black pepper note mixed with the wood. I found it to be so strong it was almost headache inducing. If I could skip past the opening to the dry down stage, I'd happily make this my winter fragrance.

Xela_529

This is sooo lovely! I'm a huge fan of the Cheirosa '40 body wash & Nuit et Confidences definitely possesses that same DNA, But NEC is 100x more luxurious, rich, decadent, and elevated. I completely adore it. This is such a classy, elegant, and 'grown' vanilla-- I'd say this perfume is too mature for teens and women in their early 20s. But man this stuff is a divine dream. So glad I discovered this gem!

Celestya

For vanilla lovers. Vanilla and tonka, a warm and cozy perfume. If you like Eau Duelle or Dama bianca, you need to try it. Not too sweet, perfect for fall and winter. The name is appropriate (night and confidences).

karinavi

unrelated to the scent but not only is the cap difficult to remove, you also either pull out hairs from the pompom or remove it entirely in the process. the bottle design is super elegant and cute but that aspect is frustrating. as for the scent, its a very straightforward sophisticated, not too sweet vanilla. it's quite balsamic to my nose, almost too much so. it's certainly unique compared to other vanillas i've smelled.

Jeswes89

This is like dama bianca but dama bianca has iris and violet, which I feel give a more cooler feeling to the perfume than this nuit et confidences, which is more a warmer scent 🥰 both really pretty but I prefer this one

kelroseplace

I have both Dama Bianca and vanilla woods, and while I think they are somewhat similar, Nuit et Confidences is just special somehow. This is a spicy vanilla tea latte, despite having no tea notes. Someone mentioned Earl Gray, and it's that. A vanilla Earl Gray latte. Immediately purchased a FB after one day of testing, and I'm not even the biggest fan of vanilla dominant frags.

ETA: this lasts for days on clothes for me. I sprayed one spritz on a t-shirt three days ago and it's still really strong.

Nichole FZA

Hang on...this smells quite similar to Dama Bianca.

I bought this first, at that time I had never tried Dama Bianca. Then I bought SDJ Cheirosa 40, no wonder I thought I smelled that before. I love Cheirosa 40 and bought Dama Bianca later as an upgrade, that was when I really felt this 2 are quite similar, not identical but very similar.

If you like Dama Bianca but not quite happy with the performance, you might want to give this a try, this last longer that Dama Bianca, on clothes and on my skin.

tamovicha

I haven't smelled a lot of vanillas, but this really reminds me of MFK's Gentle Fluidity Gold. Like, I couldn't tell them apart

SSolstice

I absolutely adore vanilla scents that smell elevated and this is one of them. While it’s quite sweet, I can definitely detect the spice and a pinch of citrus. Beautiful for those colder nights!

danidgq

I am in love.

It’s beautiful and classy. Though it’s not a safe blind buy because of the strong black pepper note which is most prominent initially, before it dries down.

I feel like this is one of those perfumes that might get better with time as the vanilla ages. Can’t wait to see how it transforms ❤️

kellyvandertogt

I find it smells similar to Goldfield & Banks - Silky Woods!

randomname

I am so in love with Nuit et Confidences. I call it my Earl Grey Rooibos perfume. The bergamot and slight bitterness give it an Earl Grey tea vibe, while the creamy smooth vanilla reminds me of rooibos tea. The pepper and very subtle incense makes it more interesting than an ordinary vanilla--and it is a vanilla, for sure. I *love* the pepper. Fortunately, I don't get a lot of whatever white florals are supposed to be in this. It's not challenging, but I don't want it to be. It's the sort of fragrance that when I spray it on my wrist I feel slightly feral, like I want to start gnawing on my arm. But like... because it's so delicious and comforting that I want to possess it inside me. I have romantic feelings for this perfume.

dharastover

Smells EXACTLY like Sol De Janeiro 40. It’s delicious and fruity but definitely smell that one in a sephora to gauge your palette

Bibi16

This smells nothing like Guerlain’s SDV at all except the slight woodsy base. This is Zara’s Rich Warm and addictive 100% just a little boosier and stronger. It has a slight herbal nuance you get from Eau duelle EDT.

It does not last either, just like Zara’s on my skin.

melusina1982

It smells like Cacharel's Gloria on me. Nothing more to say ❤

limonika

I went through 30ml bottle for less than a month because its absolutely not there after an hour. So sad was ready to get a full bottle but the longevity is miserable and that makes the prices unjustified.

redhotchilipeppersfan

On my skin the dry down is basically identical to Pacifica's Island Vanilla...

Cherubina

Beautiful vanilla powdery scent. Pleasant. Subtle. Gentle. Office safe or everyday wear. Projects well for the first couple of hours before it fades away.
My only issue is the price. Way overpriced for what it offers. The scent is not outstanding. Performance is rather weak it just doesn't last long enough.

Suicidal_wizard

Intense tonka and balsamic vanilla.

KumaraScents

This us a perfectly lovely vanilla, more sophisticated than Vanilla 28 but not as woodsy as SDV. The closest scents I have to this are Note Vanillee and Orchidee Vanille. It reminds me most of Note Vanillee, but Note Vanillee has a bit more punch out of the gate.

Would be a redundant buy for me, but the bottle is a stunner, and how do you say no to a beautifully blended vanilla?

lmnsvgz

Likeable smooth vanilla. The initial spray was a bit sharp due to the pepper, but it's good nonetheless. Definitely not comparable to Double Vanille and Cologne of the missions. This is a lot more dry

YLC629

I really enjoy the opening of this fragrance. On me it smells like a refined version of By the Fireplace but better. I love the black pepper, incense, and vanilla combo. But, it completely disappears on me in like 15 minutes. The drydown is a very basic vanilla that just kind of goes away. I like this scent and I'll use up the decant that I have but I won't be buying a full bottle.

june7moon

Similar though not an exact dupe for SDV. They're both amazing. I get followed around by men in them. I love this and also love that it lasts a bit longer than SDV. Annick Goutal has a new convert. Yummy and sophisticated at the same time in a way very few houses can manage to create.

AquaBaby5

I didn’t end up wearing this much over the cooler months this year like I thought I would. I actually think I used to reach for it more when it was on my “bedtime” display, so I will try rotating it to that display again.

The comment I came here to say: I hate the Pom Pom. It makes it hard to put the cap back on and I always grab the Pom Pom when removing the cap also. I ended up taking it off but then the bottle unfortunately looks really boring without it. Also on another bottle in this line that I had (but declutteted) the atomizer can get pressed when putting this cap back on because the opening of the cap is big enough to accidentally put on at an angle. Packaging leaves much to be desired but this is still my favorite near-straight-up vanilla scent.

barwench

I got this Goutal fragrance as a surprise gift with purchase. From the moment I picked up the package, I got a whiff of something I do not enjoy - white jasmine. I was worried that the decant I bought was pungent to me, but I was relieved that it was the gift instead. However, the silage was so strong that I had to shove it away and I left it alone for a couple weeks. Coming back to it, I have moved from hate to dislike. I'm hoping a friend loves it so I can pass it to them because I do not want to toss a good sample.

Swedelish

As yummy as I once thought it was, I had to stop wearing this fragrance. It arises within me a feeling of true meloncholy; a kind of deep-rooted sadness that can't be pinpointed but is always somewhere there, lingering in the back of my consciousness. Being a full-time mom of two little ones, I need happy perfumes in my life or nothing at all.

Quality is nice and it's a well-done fragrance in it's own right. It just is not for me anymore.

Perfumeluva1744

Smells beautiful, but too close to perfumes I already own- 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods and Xerjoff Dama Bianca.

If you own either of these, sample before you buy a full bottle. Don’t be like me and own 3 VERY similar fragrances. 🙄

YLC629

I'm a bit disappointed in this. This opens up so beautifully. I can't even describe it exactly but its just fresh and lovely. I was excited to get to the dry down. It basically dries down to a barely there vanilla that fades away in 15 minutes. I've never come across a fragrance with longevity this poor. The vanilla is very basic and you can barely smell it. Such a bummer

Dramaloladiva

You may very well hate me for this but this is my honest take on Nuit et Confidences…
To me, it’s just a meh…a bit between Dama Bianca by Xerjoff and Cheirosa 40 by Sol de Janeiro. It’s a sheer and sweet vanilla with not much to offer and there are too many of them out there with the same scent profile. Just not noticeable or a bit boring if you prefer…
For a perfume named Nuit et Confidences, i would have thought there would have been a note of mystery, sexiness and naughtiness. A bit of a smoky leather, rose-patchouli-incense-y something…you know? But this is just predictable and blah…
Oh well, thank goodness for them samples!!

banjerine

Opens with a lovely, lively splash of peppery citrus, and then a beguiling tendril of smoke begins to curl through it, ushering in a dry, rich, dark vanilla that is unadulterated by even a single grain of sugar. For some reason, I get the impression of a hole-in-the-wall Parisian café in the 1920s—stained glass, almond croissants on chipped china, hand-rolled cigarettes, a charcoal-smudged artist covertly sketching the young lovers necking in the corner… you get the picture. Worn-in, spirited, and effortlessly sexy.

jassca99

Impossible to dislike. Nuit et Confidences is a pretty mix of different vanillas I’m familiar with. It has that same caramelized woody/fruity vanilla thing I get in Vanilla Woods, Cheirosa 40, and Dama Bianca, with less of a fruity touch. It’s hard to explain but they all have a specific kind of vanilla to me, although the last two are more sheer in texture. Nuit is also mixed with the smokiness, resinous, slight pepperiness of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille. I can also see why people think of Diptyque Eau Duelle, even though it’s drier than Nuit, because of the pepper touch, but for me I thought of the ones prior which others agree with too. If you don’t necessarily want that many vanillas in your collection and already own the mentioned, then this may not be for you. Regardless, this is a beautiful fragrance that performs moderately on me, meaning those with performance issues may need to re-up after some hours.

perfeptions

Loved it from first wear: pepper and incense intermingling to lift it up, while the tonka and vanilla create a deep scent. Long lasting (8h+) and consistently moderate projection for many hours. Best of all, I can smell it all the time during the wear.

singlehandedbeauty

I picked up a bottle of Nuit et Confidences because it's said to be similar to Elizabeth and James Bourbon, which I enjoy a lot. I can confirm that this is true—a smoother version of Bourbon—but only in the opening, which lasts for a good hour. After that, my skin starts projecting an overly sweet, realistic, high-quality vanilla. I was really hoping for more of the pepper, incense, and musk, but it's just a simple and straightforward vanilla fragrance. Bad news for me but great news for those of you who enjoy this type of scent profile. This would be fantastic for layering by adding sweetness and longevity to other fragrances. It lasted beautifully all day with moderate projection. By the way, my pompom was made of faux fur and not the cloth pictured here.

daniellecatherine

I wanted this so to scratch my itch for Spiritueuse Double Vanille, but it's longevity is very poor on my skin (lasts much longer on clothing). It's pretty while it lasts but I still desire SDV.

HecateZeusIsis

It's like an adult version of Cheirosa 40 the red one, I absolutely love them....Will buy a full bottle soon.

Update - Did buy a full bottle of this one, it's a very beautiful vanilla smell and a safe blind buy.

Cabz65

If you love tonka bean; buy.

This is a warm "no fuss" expression of tonka bean. Reminds me of a vanilla tea in autumn 🍂 or spring. It's light on first spray but dry down it is interesting and keeps you interested.

Tested during winter and I am a huge fan

MelanieSP

Beautiful fragrance. I actually like it more than SDV from Guerlain which surprised me. It’s less woody and more bright with the citrus opening and it lasts longer on me than SDV. A perfect formal occasion vanilla!

Rosemary14

This has a ton of black pepper. It gives it a spicy, savory quality. Then there’s the extremely rich, creamy, vanilla underneath. It reminds me of a rich creme brûlée with a ton of pepper on it. It’s also created in that very traditional French perfumery style like many of the Dior or Guerlain fragrances. It’s interesting but not something I’m anxious to get. The bottles in this series are so gorgeous.

Bethanyg

I like oriental fragrance, this perfume smells really expensive

amg7613

Frosty, lactonic, powdery vanilla with the brightness of citrus at the opening and the surprise of pepper. The spice blends in so well! It’s beautiful. I question the longevity for the price.

Kaylovely

Vanilla incense tonkaaaaaa wait a minute! Vanilla Barka vibes?

LSAUG

This is a very smoky vanilla to me. It starts off w/ bright bergamot and pink pepper but becomes a smoky vanilla. Almost like someone smoking a cheap cigar in a room filled w/ women wearing sweet vanilla perfumes. It's ok but not really my thing. The vanilla is kind of fake smelling and combined w/ the smokiness it is making me a bit queasy. I kind of expect more from Goutal. I own Eau d'Hadrien and Grand Amour, but my bottles are the older bottles w/ Annick Goutal logo on them. I found them on Beauty Encounter dirt cheap. It was such a find that I bought back ups of both. If Goutal's perfumes in the new bottles are the same quality that this one is, then Goutal has fallen and fallen far. Sad.

yeah__books

I stupidly blind bought this. I hate the bergamot and the vanilla smells cheap. Too sweet and nothing on SDV.

sibaraa

An amazing vanilla fragrance.

charlenehlaam

This was a blind buy for me. I was expecting a totally warm and maybe sweet vanilla so I was really taken back by the bergamot and black pepper notes in the first spray. I totally understand why some people say this is more of a cold vanilla rather than warm, and this scent really grew on me the more I wear it. Longevity is decent.

charcharl

The opening has something very unpleasant that reminds me of bug spray. I think it’s the bergamot. After it settles, it becomes quite faint and smells powdery and soft, almost like a hint of Orchidee Vanille but even less complex. Disappointing after all the hype. Don’t blind buy.

sarahvianares

I am so in love with this perfume, I can't stop smelling it, I feel beautiful wearing it. I get mostly vanilla and tonka, it's very airy, soft, sweet but not too sweet, an elegant fragrance. To me, it's perfect. I love Dama Bianca and was looking for a similar fragrance but cheaper, coz Dama Bianca literally evaporates on my skin after 30 min which is very disappointing since it's so expensive . I found this, and I like it better than Dama and it's cheaper and lasts longer.

Moeytja

A copy of spiritueuse and micallef note vanille. Slightly boozy vanilla, very strong pepper, some incense and tonka. Tremendously sweet and blending doesnt remotely reach the Guerlain quality or smoothness, or the micallef natural smelling quality. Or the refined aspect of diptyque!
This is more one dimensional or flat, smells less expensive or less refined than the aforementioned comparisons from where this perfume draws its “inspiration”…

Swedelish

I've tried lots of Annick Goutal in the past and each one had an underlying meloncholic, old-world vibe that I couldn't connect with. The scents themselves and quality were very average to me. On top of the claims that this was another simple vanilla, I was hesitant about Nuit et Confidences. I didn't need another vanilla, but curiosity got the best of me and alas, I ordered a bottle.

Aaaand yeah, ok wow I LOVE this! An instant favorite. ❤️

The Bergamot in the opening makes it succulent & very slightly fruity. The vanilla is dreamy, smells high quality and refined. I get a little smokiness. Not sure about the florals, they're not very apparent to me. It's just an exquisite, softly smoky vanilla with hints of good quality bergamot, tonka & musk. It's far from too sweet, though it does get a little sweeter as time passes. I don't wear very complicated fragrances atm so this is very much my speed.

I can honestly say it doesn't smell like anything else I've experienced, granted I've never smelled Cologne of the Missions or Spiritueuse Double Vanille. But as far as every other vanilla I've ever smelled goes, Nuit Et Confidences is unique. Eau Duelle has been in my collection for years and to date is my favorite ethereal vanilla. Though somewhat similar in their cool vanilla way, they're not interchangeable. I like this one for daytime, outings, work, errands. It's more feminine, more juicy, makes me feel a bit more put - together (though it also lends itself to the most casual of situations easily). Very versatile, all-season vanilla. Eau Duelle is the ultimate comfort, casual, fall and winter vanilla. I like wearing it outdoors when it's chilly, to bed, snuggled on the couch. Both are great easy - reach vanillas but they have different personalities.

Performance is a little quieter and gentler than I'd like so I just spray more. It's not ideal but I'm wiling to look past it for the scent. It's one of the most versatile fragrances in my collection right now and easily one of my favorite vanillas.

missloveschocolate

On me, this is a sweet plain vanilla. I have some extracts I use for cooking and well, this is it. Very monotone. Nice, but that’s it.

Tincel

The first spray was interesting, but the drydown just bitter vanilla. Boring.

Misscafreen

Very similar to eau des missions by le couvent des minimes, the only difference is that it open with a lemony touch, but after in the dry down smells like eau des missions, beautiful fragrance

MsFCAS

This is the beautiful, elegant, not-sweet, romantic vanilla that all the other vanilla fragrances are trying to be. It's one of a kind!

CJ1991

Instant love!
This is actually the aromatic vanilla I hoped Shalimar could have been for me based purely on reading the type of Vanilla Guerlain is so famous for. Vanilla without the sickly gourmand, freshness of citrus and a twist from the incense.
I'm over complicated scents so clean and classy is exactly what I'm looking for in my fragrance collection and this will, from what I have experienced so far, will be a great addition.

loversandxo

A boozy wintry vanilla sugared smoke scent. Great for nights out, and you will get compliments! A tenner for sure. ❄️

Avian

A beautiful, elegant vanilla. Nuit et Confidences is very similar to Cologne of the Missions, but with added brushes of soft, abstract white petals, a pinch of black pepper, and a curl of incense smoke. I enjoy it very much. That said, it is not especially unique, and the sillage is very soft, despite the name and theme of the fragrance.

kelleybean

I love this fragrance! It does remind me of a more complex, slightly dryer Cheirosa '40 (missing that sweet plum in the opening?). It smells to me like an aromatic vanilla, not gourmand. The tonka-incense-vanilla combo gives me a tobacco-esque vibe that I absolutely love. I do not see myself getting tired of this one.
I feel like it can be worn any season, any setting. Sillage is light unless you over spray. LOVElovelove! My first Goutal. I am looking forward to exploring more from this house.

AquaBaby5

Where Eau Duelle is slightly warm this is a cooler feeling vanilla. It’s nice but sort of boring to me. It’s also got some similarity to Vanille Insensee but without woods and with more of a boozy note.

Edit: I’ve been reaching for my sample. This is a more wearable version of Eau Duelle EDP (maybe it’s like the edt? Not familiar with it) and also a bit sweeter, more feminine.

Edit 2/21/22: I may end up buying this but I definitely think it is overpriced. However, finished the sample and this is more wearable overall than Eau Duelle, lasting power is poor though.

Edit: this is in my collection but haven’t been reaching for it in the warmer months. Looking forward to bringing it back into rotation in the fall :)

MissAnnette

Soft, airy, powdery vanilla. It reminds me of VCA Orchidee Vanille minus the chocolate.

ELB78

Love the scent, but the performance is very disappointing. It’s way too soft, even after over spraying on clothing. I will use this a lot when I’m home relaxing and it will allow me to switch to another perfume easily.

Edit: this seems to stick to my clothes until the next day. Reminds me of Diptyque Eau Duelle edt but even softer.

AK2

Like previously mentioned in the section below i too see similarities with Dama Bianca however the vanilla is more similar to orchidee vanille. Nuit et Confidence is a lighter version of both, it is like a vanilla cloud that opens a bit citrusy but not as sharp as the quince in Dama Bianca. I find this is more versatile and easy to wear and it actually became my favorite vanilla after Angelique Noir.

buonobi

This is a Musky-Vanilla on my skin. I can also smell the black pepper in the opening.
After the opening, this is so french, womanly, elegant & pleasing scent.
This is not very unique, just a nice musky vanilla scent.
But u could wear it everyday, all year round.
Not similar to Dior Addict or SDV in my opinion. Definitely leans feminine. Crowd-pleaser.
Maybe a little bit similar to Eau Duelle but much softer and feminine.
The bottle is gorgeous!! Longevity & sillage is moderate, sleep scent for me.

amyaz

Just reminds me of Nina by Nina ricci. A sour gourmand perfume.

notzarafan

I love vanilla, but it is actually surprising how few vanilla fragrances I actually like, let alone love. This is IT for me, and if I ever find another vanilla perfume I love as much as this one, I'd be very surprised. What I love about it isn't that it's particularly unique - it actually doesn't have any surprising notes to it IMO - but it perfectly balances different elements I like. It's slightly boozy, smoky, sweet but relatively less so than an average vanilla, and softly woody towards the end. It's is like a warm soft cloud, but at the same time it's also like a mildly sweetened vanilla custard - comforting things. I found a lot of other less sweet woody vanillas boring, like Eau Duelle, Un Bois Vanille and Vanille Insensee (I particularly dislike the last one for its citrus note, which smells like a cheap artificial lime dessert to me). This one has zero harsh edges while still being interesting enough - the black pepper/incense opening is a little ashy and it took me a while to get used to it, but I've grown to love it too. I'm very sad that I live in such a warm climate (whoever said seasonal fragrances are a marketing ploy has never lived through 34°C 99% humidity weather) because I can only tolerate anything warm smelling for three months of the year. Also, bonus for the gorgeous bottle!!

missmaddiemac

I love this perfume! I was lucky enough to find a partial of it and it's such a gorgeous bottle.... If you like boozy, sweet vanilla scents then I really don't think it's possible to dislike this perfume. The sillage isn't bad at all, I'd say it's average. Definitely a more "grown up" take on vanilla but it's still sexy, alluring, addictive... I love it uGH

anikolic

Having the other two from Oiseaux de Nuit collection, I expected nothing less amazing from this one, which didn't fail me. The scent is mesmerizing but from the first spritz it reminded me of something I've worn before. It's rather dirty and sweet vanilla, just the king that I like. I figured out it was similar to Mac Velvet Teddy, which is supposed to be a dupe for Tobacco vanille. I consider it to be even more similar to this one, apart from the tobacco note. This one is slightly more subtle but with a rather good longevity. I like this dark and captivating vanilla fragrance.

nikath

Smells like sweet vanilla and not much else. The bergamot is very sour and disturbing to my nose and does not disappear fast enough. I don’t smell the pepper and the ever so slightly smoky, incense-y smell I pick up might just be wishful thinking. I was hoping for this to have a slight edge with the pepper and incense but it just smells like a sweet, innocent vanilla. The performance is very soft and it is basically a skin scent.

moreorlessa

It's more well balanced, airy and smooth than your typical gourmand fragrance. The bergamot is noticeable and helps give it some freshness. I don't really pick up on the pepper or incense. I am not sure I would describe it as mature, to me it is still very much a "pink", girly fragrance. It is more delicate than many vanilla gourmands in the market, less cloying and with none of those heavy nutella or sticky syropy notes you often find in the genre. It's not my cup of tea, but this could be an option for people who enjoy sweet perfumes but find some of the options out there too heavy for them, though it is debatable if the niche price tag is worth it.

Celphie

This wasn't a blind buy per-se I had smelt this before but not really thoroughly tested it. So in that regard, I guess this was a 'myopic buy' not a blind buy (Haha! Sorry. I'll see myself out after this review).

Right off the bat, we have a bright, zingy bergamot waddling happily over fields of sweetness like a toddler, eventually disappearing into the horizon within 30 min at the most. I'm not sure if this is what provides the 'boozy' undercurrent to this decidedly vanillic fragrance but I think it is: the sharpness of the bergamot reminds me a bit of those lemon rinds you find in thick drinking glasses swimming in ambery liquid. It's the fact that it's so juxtaposed with the warmth and sweetness of the vanilla that brings out this boozy note.

As the perfume dries down, the aforementioned thick glass containing the liquid slowly morphs into a wooden cask. The fragrance, still very vanillic and sweet, becomes darker, dryer but not denser. It's weird...it's still the same composition, but it's like the texture is changing: whereas at the beginning it was goopy and kinda lemon-rind oily, now it's getting smoked in the air.

I have no idea if this description did justice to the scent, or if it swayed you to buy it (or not) but I hope it was comprehensive enough to imagine its smell.

I really like it actually: it's not a love, but a polite version of those thick, syrupy and heavy-hitting perfumes I tend to like. I feel I can get away with wearing this at the office and in summer.

That's my two cents.

EDIT: Sprayed this on in the evening and woke up this morning with the scent still clearly lingering on my arm. Nothing extreme, it's quite soft, but still definitely there and at this point it's a beautiful ever so slightly smoky vanilla. Delicious but not sticky sweet. Love it!

This is my favorite perfume, love at first sniff! I absolutely love this and I would keep sniffing this. It's sweet, smoky vanilla. Probably one of the best vanilla I've smelled so far. Plus the bottle is just gorgeous. However this scent is more for myself because the silage is low. I love it and it is my "secret" perfume that I tell everyone that I love but don't disclose the name lol

Scintillia

Wow! It's amazing! I'm in LOVE! Sexy, elegant pepperly spicy vanilla. Not too sweet, a bit smoky. I can smell the bergamot at the beginning. There a some white flowers too in the background but not so distinctly! The bottle is so beautiful!

ingeneuxo

-This is a pretty, grown-up vanilla fragrance.
-Contains incense notes but remains pretty feminine and wearable imo (unlike Xerjoff-Naxos)
-Leans slightly spicy on me, reminiscent of a watery, weaker Dior Addict EDP.

-This is said to be reminiscent of Spriteusse Double Vanilla (SDV) by the house of Guerlain, minus the boozy notes.

-Overall: this is a nice and refined scent, with slight medicinal notes in the dry-down (as tested on a tester strip)
-Longevity: Low-Medium
-Projection: Low. Largely a skin scent on me.
-Overall: really unique scent. This gets a strong like from me.
-Not fbw unless you're a true gourmand lover who wants a gourmand for every occasion. (-)

*Update*
-Drydown reminds me of Nishane's Ani. (Has traces of plastic doll head)

I generally adore most fragrances from Annick Goutal. This one, Nuit et Confidences, is a beautifully done vanilla that straddles a very fine line of being appreciated by their existing client base who prefer more naturalistic scents as well as being profitable with a younger crowd who love their vanillas and sweets.

Nuit et Confidences starts off very non-gourmand with a powdery vanilla and citrus opening. At first I was reminded of Atelier Vanille Insensees and Creed Sublime Vanilla. It's very pretty, soft and pleasant at the beginning. It could easily be something you enjoy wearing but also something that's office friendly. After about an hour or so, it dries down to a much sweeter vanilla with woods that almost makes me think of some sort of taffy candy over a floral-orchid type vanilla. It's a little bit like Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidee Vanille (which I also have and love). It definitely leans more gourmand once it dries down but not fully and still has a floral and woody vibe.

In case you have Vanille Exquise, also from Annick Goutal, I will share that it is not especially similar with that one except maybe at the very start. Vanille Exquise is less sweet and has that angelica note that remains in place throughout. This one doesn't have angelica although the vanilla note used is quite similar. I have both Vanille Exquise and Nuit et Confidences and wear them both.

I love Annick Goutal. I love vanilla when it isn't overly-sweet. The bottle is adorable. This is a must have fragrance for me. It has good longevity but doesn't project much. I'd describe it as a strong skin scent if that makes sense. If I spray it on my clothes I think it projects more. It's really well done.

EDIT: just needed to add that this has almost no resemblance to Guerlain SDV. It’s of similar high quality, but SDV is so dense & boozy. It’s not boozy at all. Nuit et C is more cloud-like, not heavy sweet.

kristamb

Love this scent! Reminds me lots of my Cologne of the Missions, Nirvana Bourbon, and YR Nuit Vanille scents all mixed together....the dry down actually seems like a perfect base note of what these 3 vanilla perfumes would be like if applied together. This is a hard fragrance to come across...wish it was more available and more affordable! I will live with my decant for now, but this one is definitely on my wishlist!! A must try if you like vanillas!

aspirina

Blind buy here. The bottle is really beautiful. The scent, is interesting, it is a very mature vanilla scent. It doesn't feel gourmand at all, there is a lot of incense and pepper, that add character. I don't think this is sexy. I feel this is very elegant and cozy, the vanilla is very present. I feel this has oud. It is not on the notes pyramid but I am almost sure there is something similar to oud here. Actually this scent is very similar to Oud Black vanilla by Perry Ellis.
Sample it first, the pepper and what I feel is oud, might be too much. I wish the vanilla wasn't paired with these notes. It feels strange. I decided to keep my bottle but not really loving it.

genny17

This is a very well constructed perfume, it is a smoky vanilla, but done with a light touch, the vanilla is not the sweetest type, more like a fresh elixir type, it projects nicely, but it isn’t like you poured a bucket of incense next to you..at first spray, definitely peppery, but underneath already some flowers and the tonka pop up, to keep it from being just another smoky vanilla..it is in my opinion stylish, grown up, and very enveloping in cold snowy weather. I own Eau Duelle edt, and there are similarities , but the Goutal is maybe more refined, more womanly...I can see myself wearing the Goutal quite a bit, but I basically didn’t use Eau Duelle..maybe because it is more unisex..
Anyhow, beautiful bottle, and super nice fragrance

mellyv1973

This is a wonderful, sweet, yet smoky, vanilla perfume. It is a rich, creamy, chocolatey type of vanilla. Very gourmand imho. Lasting power is pretty good, sillage is decent. I own Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille and, although I see some similarities, I do not consider this a dupe.

Whify

Not impressed. Smells very much like Mancera's Roses Vanille. A generic candy floss sweet scent with no distinguishing features. Low projection and does not last long at all - a couple of hours at most. At this price point, it should do better.

LawmaLlama

Incredible smoky vanilla. Smells nearly identical to Le Couvent de Minimes Cologne of the Missions, but better. There is some added frankincense in this, which elevates it. At first spray my eyes rolled back into my head, and after wearing many times, I feel the same. Projection is moderate, and the lasting power is amazing.

Allisonmsmith22

I was hoping for a SDV dupe but it smells much more like Dama Bianca by Xerjoff or Junoon Noir by Al Haramain which I already own.

There are similarities to SDV, but it's not a dupe IMO.

dolcestrega

Now this smells like a cloud! I haven't smelled 'Cloud' but this, after opening with a beautiful sparkling, fizzy bergamot note, smells like a fluffy cloud of white musk and vanilla. It is cozy and sexy. Kendall Jenner wears this, and I can see a lot of young girls/women enjoying it as it is the most perfect vanilla/tonka fragrance I've ever come across.

lilotmb

This reminds me of Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon and Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille.

KayleeAp

I am just starting my journey into fragrances, and what an exciting journey it has been. To my untrained nose, this smells like hot chocolate, vanilla, and a little bit of woods. In fact, it smells similar to Orchidee Vanille by Van Cleef and Arpels, which I do enjoy, though I much prefer Nuit. It has less synthetic vibes. I do not have any issues with longevity, it lasts at least 6 hours on my skin. The bottle is also beautiful!

Kots_Tanya

A little more floral and feminine version of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, I think I actually like this one more The Guerlain SDV. The longevity and sillage is absolutely incredible. I received my bottle half way spilled and hong up the pom pom to dry outside and sillage was good 6-7 feel away. Smells amazing. I absolutely love it.

Saira.Manahil

Dare I call this a masterpiece...⁣

I’m going to make a comparison to the Mona Lisa and must start off by saying that if this offends you please settle down and calm your boiling blood. Don’t take my point of reference as me calling this perfume on par with arguably Da Vinci’s greatest work. ⁣

Ok so on with the comparison... the concept of the painting is pretty straightforward, nothing groundbreaking, there aren’t any crazy colors in the painting, and the subject herself is not dripping in fine jewelry, but it is the execution of this simple portrait that continues to steal the breath of every person who meets the Mona Lisa’s mysterious gaze and her faint smile. Well that is also what this perfume does...the concept is a simple vanilla-centric fragrance, there are no crazy interesting notes and the composition is fairly linear... but ohhhh how well executed this smoky vanilla is, and it takes my breath away everytime⁣

So yes. I do dare say Nuit Et Confidences is a masterpiece.⁣

suzu93

This is very soft and sensual. The perfect vanilla, not cloying/sickly sweet - just beautiful and soft. Reminds me a bit of the vanilla in Cuir Beluga. If SDV smells anything like this, it’ll be my next purchase. I love it.

Babesabe1

Smells so good! On me, I get smokey vanilla, incense smell. This fragrance is far more complex then I thought it was originally. It is an instant love and I am already considering a 100ml backup bottle once I find a nice deal. I wish I would have gone for the 100ml but I didn't think I would love it this much. I thought it was just a simple vanilla perfume. Oh well! Longevity is amazing I smell it my coat days after wearing it and sillage is soft and wafts up unexpectedly. Smells romantic.

hsheep

This smells like a more feminine and refined, pretty Cologne of the Missions. I feel like it's much more sparkling and zesty than CoM, I get a lot of lemon. I actually don't find it similar to SDV, I don't sense any prominent pepper or spices (light spices and some incense are still hiding in there though). It's a bit drier with more of the tonka coming forward than the vanilla extract. It's pretty, but not a love off the bat like I thought it would be. Maybe I was expecting a more gourmand vanilla.

gelkita

Is my memory playing tricks on me or the dry down of Nuit et confidences is Caron Parfum Sacré vintage dupe ??
That is what I remember it smelled on me 25 years ago when my BFF’s mother would gift me a bottle for Christmas 😍

Bubbles1964

I’m trying to get better at identifying notes, so resisted looking here until I had time to form an opinion. I completely agree that Nuit et Confidences has a dominant vanilla, the same vanilla Guerlain uses in many of their perfumes. But instead of Spirituese Double Vanille, I picked up Angelica and thought it was more similar to Guerlain’s Angélique Noir, another one of my favorites.

No doubt I also love this Annick Goutal. It may not be the most unique perfume, but it has good performance, on par with Angélique Noir. I can’t pick out the incense, it’s just a slightly gourmand vanilla floral. It’s wonderful.

thomastomasrybansk

A VERY VERY sexy provocative very posh luxury smell composed of a sweet vanilla tones but main accord is something very indescribable smokey oriental thrill and vibe that lingers everywhere you move, it's very similiar to modern muse by Estee lauder but this one has definitely beaten it

sjtdz

riveting!

just riveting! the vanilla just blooms and it's so confusing which makes it quite mysterious. one whiff and it's a safe comfort zone vanilla, and then another whiff and there's something else that's interesting and makes you want to get closer and closer 'tell me more about that?'

then vanilla then something else, it's a coquette of a perfume and it's just fabulous!

minizelda

Smokey, smooth, sensual, rich. Love at first sniff. First time I ever say "oh my god" at loud when smelling a fragrance. Juicy and dry at the same time. I'm overwhelmed. Every time i sniff it I smell new things..... gorgeous. I need me one now.

TillyWave

This is a serious vanilla perfume. It has so many facets, when I first applied it I felt like I was being doused in vanilla custard...which while it felt heavy it simultaneously lightened up quickly with a hint of sparkling bergamot, giving the vanilla an almost luminous effect. By the drydown it’s a vanilla incense perfume.

The progression of this perfume is SLOW. The vanilla is there at full strength at all times, but there are subtle changes that take place around the vanilla itself. The top has that custard but sparkling bergamot thing going on, and that stays like that for over an hour. N e C does lighten up a tad, the custard and bergamot leave and are replaced by a white jasmine. Creamy, clean white jasmine supporting a rawish smelling vanilla pod that is slightly woody.

Only at 6 plus hours in does the perfume finally slide into its true woody incense and hint of spice side. Very understated still, and nothing smells like a cheap cop out base that so many perfumes fade into. The vanilla is still really strong, only just now accented by a clean burning, light steam of incense and a hint of spicy resins.
So yeah if wearing a siren of vanilla for upwards of 12 hours is going to bother you, I wouldn’t recommend this perfume at all. This is for those who really, really want to smell vanilla all day long.

Someone else in another review said that this acts like an extrait and I have to agree. The sillage is fairly good but not all encompassing, the lasting power is incredible, and N e C has a just…solid core feel to it. It’s like wearing an extrait of vanilla, if such a thing existed. Add that to the slow changing nature of the perfume and yes. It’s very special.

I've liked Annick Goutal for a long time, over 10 years. There are some that I simply adore, some I don't like, and some that just are too weird for my tastes, but I've always appreciated them for truly being one of the first accessible but still niche in spirit perfumeries. Their perfumes are so quirky, and so unique, and always interesting, even if I didn't love them I appreciated the effort. That and their florals were always well done.

The only real issue I had with AG is that some of their perfumes have abysmal longevity or poor sillage. Obviously this is not a problem for Nuit en Confidences, if anything this has lasting power and performance that I see in only a few perfumes.

Like most interesting niche companies, AG has been bought out by some giant corporation that wants to make them more appealing to the Asian/young market. Well that and apparently they also want to change their spirit and jack the price up to insanity. I really adore this perfume but it seems like a departure from their former quirky but simple and endearing aesthetic.

I only by luck bought this bottle, I found a 30 ml on Ebay for 50 USD. Which I still think is pricy for a 1 ounce grey market bottle. A 30 ml bottle is over 100 USD, a full size 100 ml bottle is well over $200 USD. This is about double of what their old prices were! Frankly if this is the direction that AG is taking, I don’t think I will look into any more new releases. They don’t seem to be readily available in the US anymore, and more practically speaking that price point is too high for me to afford. I’m glad I found this bottle but otherwise, I’m out.

This really is a glowing, positive review of this perfume but I’m a little bummed that AG has changed so much.

nicolel

I was so shocked to not see cedar or sandalwood in the list of notes. This comes off as very woody on my skin, from first spray to drydown. And this is after 1 week of use of a FB. Not as gourmand as the notes represent. I would say this is a woody scent with a *hint* of gourmand vanilla.

AHeartLikeMine

Reminds me of a less balsamic, slightly deeper version of Le Couvent de Minimes Cologne of the Missions. Has pretty decent projection, at least for the first hour.

alberto1964

But who said that this perfume is feminine? I strongly disagree. This is a unisex perfume because incense and black pepper add warmth. Sensual, delicate, clean, sweet ... and sweetness is not only feminine. Very good.

gtabasso

A very dry balsamic vanilla that has intense tonka with a hint of incense and musk. Lovely and smokey and a little marshmallowy, too.

nottheaverageidiot

Sweetly resinous, a biiit smoky, mostly vanilla and tonka!
It has a delectable, creamy quality that I find terribly attractive. Moderate sillage but quite good longevity.
It is sweeter than SDV and considerably less boozy and smoky, which I prefer.
However...
It is too sweet for me. I never thought I'd say that. I wasn't expecting it. I don't dislike sweetness, but this is intense, butning sweetness for quite some time.
I do wear it a fair amount, since the sweetness gradually dies down to tolerable levels after an hour or so, and continues to decrease after that.

Vanlilith

@Osmophor: SDV means "Spiritueuse Double Vanille" by Guerlain, is in the 1st place for "This perfume reminds me of ..." even if IMHO it's more a simpler and sweeter version of "Vanille Charnelle" / "Vanille Exquise" ;)

jeffwithfrags

Bergamot and slight sweet vanilla right at the start.

It's very timid and even a bit boring but most importantly it's safe and not 'oranges or pungent herby leather aka billion', so it kept me in

It then starts getting a little better the vanilla gets thicker and then you get some insence -

But yes the huge problem with this scent is, that it is definitely Spiritueses-lite xD

This has none of that moody, semi-boozy, incense-fruity nuances SDV gives you from barely over 10 minutes in, it was never going to be close to easy to replicate the Masterpiece.

But by just over an hour in, it reaches an almost plausible state of likeness to the Great work itself and along with the fact it's well under half the price could actually sway some buyers, especially the female ones as this is definitely less 'smoky' / masculine than SDV

Good, but strictly in SDV's very large shadow, it's not to blame

My rating: 7/10

RubyBirdy

I’m not getting champagne and sequins, but I am getting a LOT of vanilla and tonka. If that’s what you like, you’ll love this, but don’t expect anything more complex. I found it quite linear. Heavy, creamy, winter scent.

shushkin

A nice grown up vanilla/tonka gourmand. I say gourmand because it is quite sweet. I'm glad I didn't blind buy! The incense is so low key it's hard to detect. I do get some mock orange blossom but not much. I was hoping for a decent portion of incense or at least some spice. The sweetness eases off a bit but sadly not much else happens along its timeline
If you are nuts about a natural smelling vanilla then you will enjoy this. I like vanilla but this is so similar to my Van Cleef Arpels. I definitely see why folk see a similarity with Guerlain SDV.
Moderate sillage and moderate longevity.

Nuit et Confidences has reminded me once again how much I adore Annick Goutal as a fragrance house. Her scents fit me perfectly, just like a glove. I have no doubt in my mind that her newest release Nuit et Confidences will weave its way into my collection sooner rather than later.

This fragrance is a stunning spicy vanilla scent which borders on the gourmand. It reminds me of Myrrhe Ardente from her oriental line with a sweeter, more vanillary nuance.

When I smelt Nuit et Confidences for the very first time I described it as being very 'Christmasey'. It smelt like a boozy Christmas plum pudding drenched in vanilla custard. Thankfully this delectable gourmand twist is well-balanced by the additional black pepper and incense accords which keeps this fragrance from becoming too sweet.

I would most likely wear Nuit et Confidences during the cooler months, as its comforting, spicy aroma pairs nicely with burning logs on a fireplace and a cashmere sweater. I am super excited to find yet another Annick Goutal fragrance that appeals to my personal tastes, and a newer release at that. Nuit et Confidences is easily my favourite 2017 release thus far.

¤[◊Garden◊]¤

Very beautiful scent, it exactly looks like Angélique Noire by Guerlain. Same sweet and creamy effect, I find this vanilla soft and gourmand.

gelo999

Fragrance that reflects Paris, its nocturnal atmosphere, confidences and dusty secrets already seen in other fragrances.

A theme of the smell of expensive and glamorous makeup powders, already well treated by other perfumers.

Neither does the drying of musk with the smell of Teint de Neige give me anything new.

The fragrance smells good, is well made, projects and lasts well, but no, lately Goutal bored a little with his latest releases and nothing surprising.

StellaDiverFlynn

Nuit et Confidences is basically a boozy vanilla on my skin. It starts with boozy, even a bit syrupy plum pudding, an aspect that also frequently appears in boozy amber such as Parfum d'Empire Ambre Russe and Hermès Ambre Narguilé, for exemple. The creamy, sweet vanillin soon surfaces, along with a subtle tobacco touch, probably a facet of tonka bean. But the boozy plum fruity aspect is still the dominant element compared to creamy vanilla.

The fragrance is fairly linear on me. The combined effect of boozy plum, creamy vanilla and a soft touch of smoky wood and tobacco, strongly reminds me of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Le Couvent des Minimes Eau des Missions. Nuit et Confidences appears more fruity and more youthful than the Guerlain, while Eau des Missions has a deeper resinous undertone than the Annick Goutal offering.

Nuit et Confidences has a heavy to moderate sillage, and lasts about 8 hours on my skin.

Although technically I don't find anything alarmingly jarring to my nose in Nuit et Confidences, I can't help considering it redundant and unremarkable. Boozy vanilla/amber is such a crowded genre, that one can find anything ranging from budget friendly to high-end offering, from frilly fruity gourmand to handsome smoky tobacco. In comparison, Nuit et Confidences lacks the nuance and has a relatively strong emphasis on the fruity boozy plum, which leaves me the impression that it's engineered to exploit the gourmand trend and make a quick sale.

I would recommend it to those who is on a quest for a gourmand boozy vanilla, mostly because its price is more approachable than a few high-end options. However, style-wise, it's a completely different animal from the other Goutal fragrances before 2015. Therefore, I would not recommend it to fans of Goutal's previous releases.

Taleb

Very redundant....smells almost exactly like Spirituese Double vanille.. but super performance at a fraction of the cost of the Guerlain cult fragrance.

KitKat

It is really nice, warm sweet and sexy. Grown up sweet. Truly for the night out. Great silage and longevity. Bottle is beautiful too. Well done AG.

jovejove

This is so nice, it puts you in the mood. Like wearing a navy silk blouse that's unbuttoned at the top, sleek pants that are cropped just above the ankle and high heels. Makes me think of the look Coco Rocha had for YSL in the Elle commercial. Strong, confident and super sexy woman.
