I have a lot of respect for this line in all, and for the perfumer. In the line itself, Extreme is the most universally wearable freshie type of scent in the line. It reminds me somewhat of Office for Men, so much so I can visualize a YouTuber going to Alberto saying make this one burn my nose, no, burn my nose harder... without that cactus note... where cactus was the most unique and endearing note of Extreme IMO. Then on to Wood Neroli, the most wearable and yet long lasting neroli based fragrance I know of. On to Glacial... take away the neroli and substitute juniper... there it is. A wear anytime freshie that doesn't smell like all that much but for juniper over the base. To the line itself, it's sort of the Creed Himalaya of this line as it's mostly dries down to the base itself after the juniper burns off. If you wanted a more synthetic version of Himalaya, get Paco Rabanne XS instead of the Glacial from this line. On to this scent... I tried Terrae Essence... to me, it's heart is based on javanol. Like you get from Molecule 04, a sort of artificial sandalwood to rosewood like base from this. I don't care for this one at all. I don't like javanol, not at all, but that's just me. I don't get a flint or even an earthy vibe from this as from TDH. Maybe it's just me as the javanol predominates to me. But this is the first one in the exceptional line that is a hard no for me. To me, TDH Eau Vetiver is a far better take on this higher level concept, better done and without the javanol. Though it's nowhere near a crowd pleaser either. In closing, try Terrae Essence first before buying it. It won't be for everyone and even if you do like it, many around you won't particularly care for it much. If at all. If you are someone fishing for compliments... no. This is not a mass pleasing or even a pleasant scent we see from the rest of the line. I can't see this one in particular being around long for the retail market.

LePianoMan

Starts off smelling like a mix of Bentley for Men and Gucci Guilty Absolute. It has the strength and “dirtiness” of the Gucci but the booziness and some of the bay leaf of Bentley for men. I also get a little light amount of some orangey notes and some citrus in the opening, but they give way to that booziness very quickly. In the dry down, it honestly smells like neither. It’s earthy, and very much patchouli heavy to my nose, personally - I am kind of an amateur though so I may be mixing up patchouli with this styrax stuff which is evidently what gives this that "gasoline" smell but I get more patchouli than gasoline personally. Maybe it's just my skin, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone smelled this and thought I smoked weed. It’s not super strong but it stands out when you compare this to Gucci guilty absolute lol. I would also say this smells a little bit like balsamic vinegar. It has that little bit of sourness and sweetness that you get from it.

Very interesting perfumery here. I really enjoy the earthiness present in both this and man in black. Extremely unique for a designer perfume and I picked up my 100ml bottle for $35 so I really can’t complain at all.

Upon second application, I really have to say that this shines in the air. If you think it's too heavy, too dirty, too dark, just smell it in the air as it wafts off your skin instead. You get more of that light citrus-yness in the air and it's definitely still earthy but that weird patchouli note that I was getting is much less present.

Edit: I also must say that if you’re like me and work out in the middle of your day…this can definitely come off as some particularly horrid BO. Do not ever spray this within 8 hours of going to the gym. Even then it’ll probably come through as you heat up but people around you will NOT be happy. Thankfully a thought that occurred to me before I actually experienced it lol

Agua Brava

Used two sprays, one hour in I asked my gf what it smells like. She told me that it smells like gasoline.
That's all I have to say.

Love this even more now, had to order a backup 9/10 for me, preformance not the best but the scent is very unique.

This is a great Earthy, woody fragrance. when I first smelt this one I was surprised by how much it smelt like fresh dirt.

gogerix

A great scent.
It's citric, sour, green, earthy, in that order. Stays sour the whole lifetime. Vetiver and citron are at the front of it. Aside from the nominal note of vetiver and the perfumer, it bears no resemblance to Gucci Guilty Absolute, there's little to no smokiness, there's no leather. Comparison to Terre d'Hermes is much more apt to what you might expect while wearing this concoction. The prominent sourness of citron and calamansi keep the vetiver firmly rooted in the "fresh(ish) wear" category. It has little to no sweetness and is overall a real treat.

samim69

A mix between Gucci Gulity absolut and Terre D'Hermes . Very good one for men above 35

Fragility

Sour manure smell, sorry. I did try this way back in my fragrance journey but it was really off-putting.

Montebello

It's different and not all unpleasant but there's something almost nauseating to my nose.

It made me feel like a fancy bug. And I don't want to feel like a bug whether it's fancy or not.

Alberto Morillas nailed it again! Terrae Essence, which I acquired as a fan of Bvlgari Man flankers, especially Man in Black, is positioned in the earthy, citrusy and woody categories. It is not a perfume to buy blindly, you should definitely try it before getting a bottle. It carries the earthiness of Hermes Terre d'Hermes and the animalic athmosphere of Gucci Guilty Absolute, which is a banger imo, has become a juice that I enjoy wearing especially in the autumn months. The phase change is not quite sharp, it follows a linear line most of the time. You basically smell a buried leather jacket with a cigar in its pocket under the soil, smelling the nature and the well blended ingredients of this juice. It resembles Guilty Absolute a lot, also it carries the vibes of Terre d'Hermes, but still it has a unique composition that should be tried.

Yes, beautiful yet simple. Perhaps too simple. Yeap, the quality is great but I cant get the wow effect. But a very nice every day scent indeed.

But I assume this will smell the best when it is used in a rainy day. Another rainy day fragrance that smells great is Lacoste "Style in Play" in my opinion.

I will update on my "simple" emphasis later for sure. Lets see...

Lastly, it has a lipsticky smell.

Update: I am in LOVE with this!!!!

Unusual for a contemporary designer perfume, so if you've been very mainstream to date, been bitten by the fragrance bug, but don't want to piss money up the wall on experimental niche scent dungeons, this could be right up your Straße. It's an innovative twist on amber.

It's really not all that earthy - a comment many have made below. If you want really earthy, try Peau d'Ailleurs by Starck, by the legendary Menardo.

This one, I like. I totally understand the "reminds me of" Terre d'Hermès that so many have commented on - another atypical, unusual, distinctive designer fragrance. Terrae Essence has that vetiver Terre d'Hermès has, and even a modest sweet/bitter orange citrus dimension (tho this scent is not a sweet one overall) too.

However, it's no Terre d'Hermès dupe. There's a brown/amber overlay, like a faint tobacco. The orris is lovely here - light and not at all lipsticky. In the deep dry down, a slightly incense-y amber emerges, very good of its type.

That said, this perfume could fall between 2 stools. I like it a lot, but it may not be "enough" for a paid-up perfumista, yet someone into mainstream food/blue/sweet designer might be freaked out, and write reviews full of outrage and drama. (See below...) But I think it's worth some attention.

Well done, Bvlgari, for not endlessly producing blue/ambroxan/food based scents.

PorterDavis

Don't own but tested - Very different to most designer frags so buy at your own risk but for the niche lovers out there, its very reminiscent of Nasomatto Black Afgano, just slightly less intimidating but still polarising! (i love it)

Ichor

Polarising.
Its an earthy fragrance that has undertones of gasoline, slightly dry too.
This fragrance reminds me of TDH, Fahrenheit and Gucci Guilty to give an idea.
Its slightly unrefined and lacks the expected juicy / refreshing citrus instead opting for a more dry, dusty, bitter take which can turn some people off.
Yet despite criticisms and lack of appeal the harshness of the perfume works in its favour by giving it an intense and standoff quality, leaning hyper-masc. In my opinion.

It has a primality I enjoy; one of the only fragrances people hate that I wear but it gives an equal amount of compliments.
My new warm weather signature.

aliks

Best surprise I have had for many years. It was available on a discounted counter at Sephora, I tried it and the extraordinary elegant leather scent that I smelt was deeply unexpected : one the most refined, classy, quality men perfumes available on mainstream stores. I cannot believe I missed this perfume for so many years. Leathery, warm, rich scent, incredible.

shabaaz

Smells like when you enter any Arabian Oud shop

Louche_Bouche

I bought a 150ml of Guilty Absolute well before the BV and enjoy it. But, the BV is my daily driver in cooler temps.
I layer a shot or two of Afnan Supremacy Incense on top often. Loving that combo.

hellofrank

Such an amazing creation by Alberto Morillas !!
Very unique and a class apart.
Not a mass-pleasing type and its not for everyone.

A must have for any collector for its uniqueness. Its classy.
It does have some similarity with Gucci Guilty Absolute(also by Morillas) but luckily has not inherited its dirty/animalic/medicinal part as such.

A brilliant, gentle take on that Gucci Guilty Abs line !

DuaneMD

My girlfriend wanted to buy me a fragrance...she tried a brunch....bought this...says it's earthy and manly....i wear it...like it more than love it.....unique fragrance....i enjoy it on a fall day.

Love's Secret Domain

I am sitting at a DFW airport bar smelling the test strip while I drink and wait for my flight home for the holidays:
I am very much reminded of Tom Ford Tobacco Oud. Based, I admit, on a distant memory from a single testing at Sephora in Las Vegas years ago. This may be because they both startled me with unexpected blunt masculinity among other sweet crowd-pleasing designer scents.

Both pulled me back to being 4 or 5 and three feet tall, exploring my grandparents' bedroom, lifting the lid off a well-built cedar chest at the foot of their bed. Up, over my head, and sticking my head inside to take in the bracing smell of fragrant wood for the first time.

I do not get actual cedar from this perfume, not unless I really reach. I would say instead that cedar and the earthiness of this perfume are different chords that share the same note.
But I do get Oud. As it dries down on paper, I'm being reminded of mukhallats stored in my middle-eastern oils box that long ago lost their labels. I'm having a hard time believing there is no oud in this perfume.

Trying to decide between ordering this online or going back down to the Chanel shop and buying Antaeus on the spot for twice the price.

dubdub

Love at first sniff. Love this from opening to drydown although imo it's not as earthy as i thought it would be, it's a little sweet and fresh. Idk why a lot of people don't like this but to me this is unique and beautiful. Definitely buying a full bottle.

dragonfruit2015

To me this smells nothing like Gucci or Hermes fragrances that others compare it to. It's very nice and very interesting with a sweet vibe at the start. Feels perfect for cooler weather but probably not for bitter winter. Another interesting Morillas creation.

Zanerkand

Tired of everything smelling the same?

Try this. So different. Strong, earthy (it's well named) bounces off the the skin and cuts through the cold weather.

Not to bought blindly and for proper enthusiasts.

You'll not find many people wearing this and that's a shame because it's beautiful.

Heinrich_B

Yes indeed...the baby of Gucci Guilty Absolute with Terre d'Hermes.
Consider this as a substitute for the now late Gucci.

Maddyrain

When I think of an earthy fragrance, Figment Man (Amouage) is the first one to come to my mind. It screams earth, mud, and forest floor to me.

Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence is not that earthy on my skin (and I wish it were). Yes, there is vetiver, which can be earthy, but on this fragrance it works really well with the cirtrus notes like many other current male fragrances.

Though part of the huge Bvlgari Man line, Terrae Essence has very little to do with its oldest brother. Good longevity and sillage on my skin, but nothing monstrous. A lovely citrus and kinda dirty scent similar to Terre de Hermés Intense Vetiver.

Oh, and by the way, I personally don't see any similarities with Gucci Guilty Absolute, which has a different take on vetiver and leather.

Alberto Morillas did it again as I expected but to tell the truth, when this came out, I didn't know it was by him. I tested many times at the store and I had to make sure I liked it on my skin because the last two of wood collections (wood neroli and wood essence) didn't work on my skin unfortunately. On the other hand, this one captivated me so much and I did wanted to have it for a while. I was looking for a good deal but forgot about it until I found a gift set with 100 ml + 15ml for CAN$80 at Winners yesterday (Nov 8, 2023) so I was so fortunate to scoop it up and today, I did the full wear experience. Right from the get go, love the uplifting bitter sweet citrus opening (although my alley is more dark, sweet, gourmand, woody, spicy type) and a tad of sweet earthy element but to me it's rather a woody accord and no earth/dirt is found in this fragrance if anyone is wondering about that by looking at the pic of the notes. It was projecting strong for a few hours and got a bit closer but the sillage, the nice scent bubble is all around me very nice and healthy. I don't even have to sniff on my arms but it keeps coming up and around my chest and my neck. Even around 8 to 9 hours in, I can still get a nice healthy whiff of same greenish citrus and woody accord still projecting off my body. But here's the thing, I always spray 20 to 30 sprays (correct numbers LOL) and spray close to the skin till it gets wet all around my neck, chest and both arms so that's the trick for me to make it last on me especially citrus based fragrances. I didn't even have to refresh once. This is very elegant, masculine and classy yet modern gentleman fragrance, great quality and definitely one of the best ones from BVLGARi Men line after Men In Black line.

Anu Vincent

When i first got this one i wasn't really enjoying the smell. Man !! It grew on me i realised the 100 ml bottle is nearly finished i will definitely buy another bottle even though i have other perfumes i my collection i think this is personal i started to use this one more in summer. How ever it is not a fresh fragrance . But you feel uplifted and fresh in a different way Its strange. I love this.

BurtMunroefan

Incredible through and through. I can see the hint to Encre Noire some have made but only in whiffs as being a similar memory. But, as Encre waves, This Punches. If this is your type of scent, don't hesitate at all.

Docplaya

Good for 4 seasons. It's masculine with good performance. I prefer this scent profile to TDH. Even though, TDH smells more premium.

TommyWiseau

This smells similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute (also created by good ol’ Bert) to me, especially in the dry down. They both have that bandage-like accord that I really like. This will almost certainly be discontinued in the near future, so if this is your jam, I’d recommend getting a back up bottle. For me, this scratches the same itch as GG Absolute, so I’m gonna keep rocking with that one, but I think this is a killer scent in its own right.

Hulknas187

One of my favorite fragrances in my collection. I have not received any compliments. But I don't care. It's unique, earthy and regal smelling. Very masculine and long lasting. Great projection and sillage. 8.5 for me. I am ordering a back up 100ml this time.

jacek.drewnowski

Bvlgari is one of the designer houses I respect. They created some scents that expanded the boundaries especially in the designer aquatic genre (Aqva, Aqva Amara). But this scent - I don't understand it at all. It's not bad, but don't tell me it's not intended to copy Terre d'Hermes. It's intended to do just that. And it does a good job. But still, if you like this scent profile (I do), get the original Terre and don't support copycats. And Bvlgari, please try to be original again.

hatnis

Terre d hermes is FRESH. There is no orange in the dry down of this. I feel like you only smelled the top notes and got confused @Play_master. Maybe you meant to review Rain Essence?

Play_master

I love this fragrance a lot. It's better in every way than terre dhermes. The orange is fresher, crisp and natural. And so is earthy note. It's better and refined than hermes. You should get this instead of hermes if you are new into frags. This is mass pleasing version of TDH.

Trueblood84

I love how every unabashedly masculine designer fragrance is equated with Gucci Guilty Absolute. The only common ground is the masculine scent profile and earthy notes. Gga opens with a powerful petrol note, based with a beautiful leather. This is an earthy, yet gorgeously masculine scent profile. If you like to smell like nature this is for you. If you can't handle a heavily masculine, dirty scent stay away. That being said the performance is phenomenal, longevity is eternal off my skin and projection is nearly beast mode. I feel like it could be worn in any season but it's very earthy so I'd recommend going light on the trigger in extreme heat.
Another great fragrance from the master, Alberto Morillas 9/10

woomanmoomin

Not especially earthy to my nose. Not especially dirty or mouldy. It's more a dry, slightly resinous and sometimes borderline phenolic fragrance, with a rather obvious generically perfumey attack once the drydown begins, which doesn't take all that long. I think I get some vetiver, but if anything it seems to me to be a rather clean vetiver and not especially interesting, at least not in this concentration relative to the other ingredients. To my nose, the styrax is not obvious as such; I'm not getting any clear latex rubber effect.

I can imagine wearing this on an autumn or winter day or night but I'm not sure why I'd bother. It's an unusual composition but I don't find it especially appealing, not even just for quirkiness value. I don't find the composition anywhere near unwearably heavy (that would be odd indeed, coming from Alberto Morillas) but I do find it pretty unrelentingly dark--"dark brown" at the lightest. It's almost as if a good deal of work has gone into carving a sculpture--which may or may not be lovely--in dark wood, in a dark room, at night. There's next to no light to throw the darkness into contrast. I can't make out enough detail to enjoy the end result.

Nawaf.669

Very nice scent, for mature only, it’s classy and elagant, I think it’s great for winter, not for everyday to use this fragrance, good performance. Very long lasting I think you will get a lot of compliments 🤙🏻 8/10, thank you Alberto morillas

AllThatJaZZ

I tried this from a 5ml decant and I must say I’m impressed, seriously considering a full bottle just waiting to see prices come down a lil bit more. I’m saving the rest of the 2ml juice for the winter to check how it performs in the colder weather. I don’t know what it is in this juice but damn it feels warm, elegant and classy.

Nkm

2021 batch

Profile - Mature smelling with heavy vetiver and orris.

Description - Received as a 5ml complimentary. Love the bottle colour and the design of the bigger sizes. The colour kind of suits the scent perfectly. You get a sense of understanding of the smell by just looking at the colours. Opens with moderate dose of citrus and instantly the orris and vetiver notes take the centre stage. Almost a linear scent IMO, with slight earthy feel in the base. This scent started to give me a headache. I believe its the sharp vetiver and orris notes which stay throughout the scents life.I have stopped using it and wouldn't repurchase. I wanted to love the fragrance as it is fairly unique and bvlgari is one of my favourite houses.

Usage & longevity - Kind of all year. . 3-4 sprays should do good and should last you around 6-8 hours, and longer on the clothes. I suggest to avoid the neck due to the strength of the juice as it might choke you

Suited for - 30 and above. Smells up class so suits most dress occasions.

Reminds me of - major vetiver heavy fragrances with a hint of sweetness but is unique in its own way.

Rating - 6/10, I wish my nose worked well with the notes in this.

benlippi

Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence. Masterpiece.

Picked this up today. The scent is so beautiful to me. Totally in love with it. It’s my gift to myself for my 25th bday, appropriately it is my first fragrance that I would consider mature and ultra masculine. Like the name suggests it’s very earthy, a nice woody vetiver and leather gasoline kind of scent to it. Oh so slightly sweet. Performance is outstanding on my skin. Haven’t smelt anything quite like this, but to me it has a similar vibe to dior Fahrenheit. Also the bottle is gorgeous. My only complaint is that the sprayer becomes a water gun if pressed too lightly. I give it a 9.5 / 10.

Bvlgari released an excellent video featuring the legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas showcasing this creation, it’s a great watch I highly recommend checking it out.

If you’re looking for a more mature masculine scent give this a try, it’s perfect for me. Now I have to get my nose on man in black.

Silentmed

If you like very earthy scents with a very abrupt kick in the nostrils, this is the scent for you. I genuinely can't recommend this fragrance unless you are the type that like to offend the the people around you. this scent has its moments, but in reality, it is a very harsh scent that 99% of people around you will not appreciate.

Ointmeal

This is a cousin and in a similar space to Mancera - Saharian Wind. I'm surprised no one commented on that! :) I have a 5ml or 8ml decant of the Mancera and they are remarkably similar.

/edit: someone did - they're right!

There is a very similar patchouli-leather-earthy accord here that's also present/reminiscent of the Mancera. Sadly, altho both of these I like and respect a lot, I never see myself wearing them. There is something very classic (think 80s) I associate with this profile that I just don't see myself being drawn to smell like. It's what I'd imagine your brand spankin new 80s Benz with all leather interior would smell like after you accidentally ended up on an 8-hour hike through a forest, and you brought in with you the smell of savory, smoky damp soil more so than the woods you were around.

This was a surprise for sure! I don't know which one was released first but if you enjoy this I recommend getting a sample of Saharian Wind - you might really appreciate it :)

The Mancera might offer just a little bit more information, depth, and detail in the scent on my skin. But take this with a grain of salt, as I said only appreciate these scents, but won't wear them.

It might offer better performance as well... it does on my skin, altho itself stays closer to the skin after the projection dies down.

Just for reference:

I don't think this smells like TdH EDT/Parfum at all. TdH Intense Vetiver starts with a very prominent grassy, citrussy, wet soil (.... that transitions to dense, sweet amber after 2 hrs) but the Terrae is a completely different profile IMO. It's a lot more pungent and leather-like. I saw a comparison with Encre Noire Sport below - which is an aquatic fragrance that uses the type of vetiver that smells like luxury soap (similar accord also used in Mon Vetiver by Essential Parfums but without the aquatics) - I'm not seeing this even in the slightest, so I wonder if the poster accidentally posted a review of a different fragrance by mistake here. Apologies if that's not the case, I don't mean to attack - I honestly don't see any resemblance between this Bvlgari and EN Sport.

mrperq

Do not buy this unless you've givven this a full wear on skin. It smells much different on skin than on paper, and evolves quite a bit after the first few hours.

The opening is soft-sweet-aldehydic-fruity with some earthy undertones. This is my favorite part of the scent profile, and if remained smelling like this, I might like it a bit more.

As it dries down gone is the sweetness, the aldehydes and the fruits, and you are left with a verry soft and wearable vetiver smell. The closest thing I have to this is Encre Noire Sport, but this is even more approachable and is much softer. Unlike any Encre Noire offer, I think you can have this vetiver even if you're not the biggest fan of vetiver. Still, I like my vetiver a bit more upfront so I'll stick with my EN.

This is an okay fragrance, extremely inoffensive and it is quite unique. Still I dont think I would reach for this often.

Still worth checking out, but again, make sure you take it on a full wear so you dont get a surprise in the drydown you didn't sign up for.

bergamotti

I randomly stumbled upon this fragrance in the store and thought of giving it a try. It completely blew my mind, and I couldn't resist ordering it online at a slightly lower price. But here's the thing, the scent I received wasn't as mind-blowing as the one I fell in love with in the store. The tester at the store had a more gentle aroma, whereas the one I got at home was a bit more intense and aggressive. Maybe I just got a bad batch or something.

caffeinatedpony

Adventurousness, confidence, and singularity. Can't wait to buy a full bottle. You've done it again, Bvlgari!

Drakko

Absolutely love it! Smells even nicer after the middle notes and even stays on my skin overnight. A good substitute for my Terre d' Hermes.

Joalo

Very good quality fragrance, similar to Encelade lasts 6-8 hours

Ahmet Reis

It's great, once you don't overspray. Smells like candy flavored earth.

ali_minaj

ok i bought it because it was unique ! but now im regretting because its just Bad and gives me headache. smells Not good at all ..one of my friend said that i smell ''old'' now im wondering what TF im gonna do with my 100ml bottle :S

Prince P3

The name of this fragrance certainly vibes with its scent. The opening is earthiness touched by citrus which evokes the feeling of a canyon-esque sunrise. This dries down into a cedar type scent that is masculine. A solid fragrance by Alberto Morillas that evokes vibes of his other creation: Phillip Plein No Limits. Terra Essence comes off as the warm weather version of No Limits - lighter in all facets whereas No Limits is much heavier. If you like one, you'll like the other. Sample first. $30-50 range is the value of this frag.

Nicbey

Smells exactly like straight cedar oil to me.

guettaby

the opinions on this perfume is the typical example of the relativity of olfactory tastes. Many people hate it as we can read below, and others more minority adore it. I am part of the minority: it is original and this mix of earth and citrus with a little sweetness in the dry down works wonderfully in my opinion. It's a no brainer and could easily be one of the great niche scents.

scendictedalways

This is a unique citrus and earthy scent. I don't have any perfume in my collection that smells like this.

CoachSignature88

I tried this 4 times before coming to my conclusions. The opening is very good and quite niche level. But that’s where the good ends for my nose. The full drydown reminds me of a cigarette butt that someone just smashed into a wet ashtray… it’s too dusty for my taste.. I wanted to love this I really did but being an EX smoker I couldn’t stand smelling like an ashtray again. So the purchase could not be made. Next I will try TDH Intense Vetiver seeing how it’s similar to this. But I’m hoping the drydown isn’t as dusty/ashy. Opening 8.5/10: full drydown 3/10 Total 🟰 6.5/10.

Edit: Okay so about 5 months have passed since I wrote that review. I must say I got a decant to try this again after my nose matured some & I started enjoying deeper earthy/Smokey scents. I now really love this fragrance! The opening is gorgeous and the drydown is super deep, earthy, manly leather like. I bought a fb! Score changing to a 9/10! This goes to show how our tastes can change over time and we should continue to try things again later on even if it’s not for you the first couple times.
Yes I probably wouldn’t wear this frag to work but I have stuff more like Hermes intense vetiver that is more mass pleasing for that. But this just hits the spot when relaxing at home. This should be used more like a niche fragrance. Give it time it’s worth it & will be very rewarding! 9/10
Edit 2:
So 4 more months have passed since my last edit. This fragrance has become my number one release of the year I now see this as a 9.5 to 10 out of 10 masterpiece fragrance. I bought a back up bottle because I fear discontinuation because this was not very hyped. Try it while you can!

jdagarcia94.1

Initially bought this for being one of two perfumes that used Calamansi as a top note (other one being Molinard's Citrus Noir). Did not get the earthiness some were complaining in the drydown, i got somewhat smooth and while still bold full bodied scent.

zensouth

I’m the only one who gets Tom Ford Beau De Jour Eau de Parfum (2020) vibes? I mean, I only just purchased this a few minutes ago but the opening to me is NOTHING like Terre d’Hermes, and is a lavender bomb (which I guess is earthy to folks?) just like TF BDJ. Let’s see how it dries down….

Edit:
BDJ in the opening that transitions to Encre Noir in the dry down. And I love it.

Denkmusic

I don't know why nobody else is noticed, but this fragrance smells like a celebration of harvesting sweet, juicy and resinous cannabis buds. It definitely plays on the territory of TDH eau intense vetiver, and maybe even surpasses it in some aspects.
Opening is fantastic sparkling citron, surrounded by buzzy earthy vibes. It will fade down in 30 minutes, becoming more smooth and solid. On this stage I'm getting some roasted coffee echoes, which is reminding me Halloween Man X and somehow Dior Sauvage.
I was getting occasional whiffs of this scent through a couple hours after just 2 sprays on my hand, which surprised me in a good way. I did have few other fragrances on me by that time and I didn't get them. Obviously, this fragrance is not leading me to anosmia, which is a very good quality.
Don't be fooled by low rating on Fragrantica. For those who likes these types of scents, it's 10/10. If you like Terre D Hermes, you'll like or even love this.

btd069

I get a non-cloying sweetness in the beginning. I wasn't a huge fan of the opening. There's clearly citruses there. On the dry down, it goes in the earthy, vetiver and a semi-creamy, Iris with a wood & violet-like note. I also get something that smells like sandalwood and something that smells like cashmeran, which imparts a balsamic scent.

This does not smell linear to me, even though it doesn't evolve much, it kinda of progressively changes. Not your typical Bvlgari fragrance and it kinda breaks into new territory as compared to the other flankers in the line.

I was able to get a tester for $45 and for that price I don't mind....but I would not pay more than $50. Presentation is on point with the others in the line with a terracotta bottle color and has a turning lock mechanism on the atomizer as the others in the line have. Overall a decent fragrance, not groundbreaking, but it's not for everyone, so make sure you try before you buy.

scottgiles86

Gucci Guilty Absolute with a bit less leather and some citrus rind freshness up top. It is an odd smell...but by golly it works. Both were perfumed by Alberto Morrillas, and it shows. Great quality for the price, but not blind buy safe.

ndlennon

I actually really love this perfume. It’s different, it’s pretty polarising, and much like PDMs Kalan (which was love at first sniff for me) this sits within that family of warm spicy earthy citrus fragrances. It’s mature and elegant but made modern IMO. I just don’t think there’s anything that does this out there, least not from what I’ve smelt, so it feels original too.
At a glance you’d expect it the be a TDH clone or whatever but it’s it’s own thing entirely.
I agree, not a blind buy purchase. Do go test it out first, you’ll know pretty quickly if you like it or not that’s for sure.

Lipsticksuzie

I’m addicted to this smell. I can’t stop sniffing my husband when he wears this. Even when he’s at work I sometimes smell the nozzle to stop me getting withdrawals lol.
It’s so warm and woody and spicy. I can’t compare it to anything else I’ve ever tried and I haven’t tried Gucci guilty absolute… but I will now.
It’s definitely not blind buy material. I imagine it’s uniqueness will probably make it quite polarising. However I recommend anyone and everyone to seek this one out to sample because it really is something else!

*Edit*
I’ve since tried Gucci Guilty Absolute and I really like that too, I see the similarities. I would say Terrae Essence is like a day time version of GGA. I still prefer BTE over GGA and it also lasts longer which is good.

The Wolf

First impression so take it for what it's worth: this smells like something Hermès would launch. It opens with strong and pungent citron and citrus peel mixed with vetiver and labdanum. The labdanum has a slight animalic cumin type (but not as sweaty) vibe to it. The labdanum gets leathery mixed with the styrax (both of these notes can smell like leather). I think it's pretty good but could be challenging to some. I didn't get the GGA comparison but I'd need to test it further.

tumiknows

The first 2 times that I this scent, I did not like it.
Fast forward to today, and I'm really digging it. I'm not sure why its rating isn't any higher - it deserves to be above 4.0!

Painkiller

The opening is so unapologetic, the "soil" is more like a garage oil thingy not to say leather right away (Yeah, leather and a bunch of citrus, slightly bitter) I get the same vibe when I spray interlude man... but instead of 40 minutes of intense non stop crazy I get no more than 5 minutes of "that". After 5-10 minutes and already rounder with so many notes including critics working together to make this mass appealing there's this earthy leathery note from up-close which is always present that gives life to the fragrance. Gives it life without making it harsh... So good, so masculine and I get two hours of round leather and juicy critics that is super crowd pleasing, no one will ever think anything bad about this fragrance I feel like dousing myself in it and makes me love leathery fragrances more and more. Well, it smells niche, but it doesn't last half as long. A 3.8 is almost a joke in regards to quality, I'm buying extra bottles, or getting ombre leather, this is what I expect of leathery fragrances.

edifier

How is this garnering just 3.83? Terrae Essence deserves at least 4.20. On the initial spray, I am instantly reminded of Gucci Guilty Absolute, which I held off purchasing because I like versatile scents and Absolute is not one. After the Absolutesque opening, the citruses amplify to lend body and sweetness, and surprisingly stick around well into the drydown. The overall effect is a deftly-orchestrated interplay of the four major components of citrus, earth, leather and iris. Personally, I do not perceive a great similarity between this and Terre D’Hermes; the latter is centered around the dusky orange while earthiness plays the lead in Terrae Essence. I think they complement each other with the Hermes better suited for warmer weather.

Cristina S.

My fist impression was that this is a Gucci Guilty Absolute copy. It smells pretty much the same at the beginning: very intense and stingy, very smoky, almost like being by a bonfire. But then, Terrae Essence becomes sweeter and leathery. It’s an earthy and warm fragrance, as opposed to Guilty Absolute which is more metallic and cold.
I really like it, I think it is definitely more of a masculine scent, but I see it on a woman as well, especially on a night out.

S_Mazza

I tested this from a mini sample. Well, it's a bit different from typical men's fragrances. I like it, but I haven't yet decided how much. I don't get a lot of sweetness or citrus from this. My first and most enduring impression is rather medicinal - like the smell of camphor. After a while, it starts to take on a more earthy, leathery, or smoky character, followed by the sweetness of "styrax". When I try to smell it, I mostly get the medicinal and earthy scents. But when I am not trying to smell it, the sweetness sneaks in somehow. To me, this scent doesn't smell very strong or project very far. I suspect it may be one of those where certain people are nose-blind to it, or to major parts of it.

The overall effect is not very "perfumey", but more like a scent that develops as you go around and do things. I guess that's a laudable achievement.

BerlinLeo

In my opinion, an extremely underrated fragrance. It is a day time orientated scent that fits all weathers and seasons. I've worn it to the beach aswell as to a snowy Christmas last year, both times I received compliments. This gave both my friend and I who had visited and lived in Turkey instant nostalgia for Shisha bars. It is a very dirty, earthy, citrusy smell, however unlike perfumes like Aqua Di Gio edt, the other notes are not over powered by the citrus.
Definitely recommend thi. Super versatile and mature.

Asca Naca

I've got to say that I quite liked Terrae Essence from the first moment I smelled it. I get light whiffs of it in the air it smells great. This is something unique from everything else that I own. It has a mature and almost classic vibe with very little sweetness. I could see men 30+ being the majority of the people who would wear this. It's very masculine as well! I get the earthiness that this scent was intended to represent. The vetiver comes off to me as a little smoky. I don't get much citrus in the opening. The projection isn't bad and it lasts around 6 hours on my skin before it disappears. I can't lie and say that most people around you are going to like this. In my experience, most people I have shown this to have had a negative reaction to it. Someone told me that it smells like the burnt end of a cigar. This is more of a fragrance that I will enjoy in the evenings when I am not going out. Despite this being completely different than everything else I own and that most people will not like it, it's a solid release!

Criglett Clussnum

This is a slightly toned down Gucci Guilty Absolute. This has a more toned down leather note with a little more citrus nuances in there so it's not quite Gucci. If Guilty Absolute is a 10/10 in performance, which it is then I would give this an 8.5 or a 9 because this is a monster too. For me I think I prefer this a little more over GGA because it's more pleasant along with that rugged petrol leather note in there. Terrae Essence is one of the best Bvlgari Man fragrances I've smelled in a long time. They really hit it out of the park with this one! I recommend this to any guy older than high school because this is on the mature side as far as smell. If you're a fan of Dior Fahrenheit and Gucci Guilty Absolute then you better try this! I highly recommend this if you like fragrances in that ball park. This is rugged but it has a slight sweetness deep in there as well. I think this is a more refined and touched up Gucci Guilty Absolute if you know what I mean. I also think you can blind buy this if you know what you're getting into. I was happy with this blind buy and I think you will be too! If you liked Gucci Guilty Absolute but it was a little too intense for you, try this!

heavyindustry

I was intrigued the first time I smelled Terrae Essence. I was drawn to the pungent but smooth vegetal note that reminded me vaguely of marijuana. Even the citrus opener, which is too often bergamot, gave it a savoury yet fresh angle, setting it apart from typical designer fragrances. Then came the buttery note of iris, smoothing out the earth and the woods in the base. So many disparate and contrasting notes came together to present one smooth accord, it really is a delight to smell.

However, after owning a full bottle, the lustre of the scent faded. Terrae Essence does its heavy lifting in the opener but loses this energy towards the base. Although the citrus persists for over two hours, the accompanying earthy, musky ambroxan base is reserved, fizzling out quietly. Performance is average toward 6-7 hours.

Despite the warmer weather in Sydney, I rarely find myself reaching for the Bulgari. However, as I wear the scent to review, I'm reminded of why I fell for the scent in the first place. It's a unicorn amongst designers (and may be revered as one in the future). The verdict is still out on whether the bottle stays, but I might hold onto it a little longer...

sledgeharvy

Over the years, I've always had certain fragrances that overwhelm me to the point, where I just want to sit in a room with a couple of sprays on each forearm and on each wrist, and just exist in the scent bubble. Close my eyes and get lost in the imagery of the fragrance notes. Give myself time to truly experience the fragrance in its entirety. Opening to skin scent.
What did I experience, when I did so with Terrae Essence? Imagine being in a desert, somewhere like New Mexico. On your travels, you come across some citron and calamansi randomly growing there. You go ahead and pick a couple. You dig your fingernails into the citron to open it up. You're enveloped in this earthy/rindy combination, that's being emulsified with the dense juice oozing from the citron. The hint of tartness from the rind really gives it some additional depth. On the dry down, the iris finally starts making its appearance that feels like a sunset fading into the night. Remnants of the citric/earthy residue still remain lingering on your fingers, as you recall your day. Signaling you're coming to the end of the journey.
It's a beautiful experience. Very vibrant colors everywhere, yet nothing seems too overwhelming. In which exhibits the delicate balance to the composition. Alberto Morillas sincerely understands how to do things right. Daring and sophisticated. Bravo.
Longevity: around the 7-9 hours. Given the type of fragrance it is, I would say that's what makes it more perceptible throughout the wearing.
Occasions: I wear it like liquid courage. When I need that extra push of digging in deep, this is right there for me. Like a pat in the back from a friend, motivating you to keep pushing. Whatever time of the year you can use a boost, give this one a shot.
I don't have a scale system, wear what you want when you want to experience it.

Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence is an ambery, woody, slightly green and earthy fragrance.

Its opening is strange, but at the same time interesting, it smells like tar, something between amber and leather, it even reminded me a bit of Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme, which, like this one, have been created by Alberto Morillas. It is not a fragrance that seduces you immediately, but much less does it leave you indifferent. With the passage of a few minutes there is a smell like burnt grass, similar to marijuana, and an earthy note, which in my personal opinion is less successful than in Terre de Hermes, because in Terrae I feel that the amber note dominates more (styrax in this case). It is not a linear fragrance, because it turns between green and woody notes.

The scent is perfect to wear in the fall, I also think it could be worn in formal situations or where you want to show some authority.

Its duration with me was approximately 8 hours with regular sillage.

I do not recommend buying it blindly, however I think that those who like Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme are highly likely to also like Terrae Essence. It has the merit of being a fragrance different from the trends, and it can be a coveted piece over time, so I invite you to try it now that it is a new release and if you like it, get hold of it.

Bokitza

Blind bought this for 25$ for about 70ml left out of 100ml.

There is NOTHING not safe or rough in this fragrance, maybe for people who only ever smelled something like BDC EDT, i would say even Sauvage is more rough on the nose than this.
To me it smells a little sour, something like issey miyake leau dissey maybe, then from there it's just a woodsy dry musky down with not much to it. I really wish the vetiver was something more earthy and dirty like i expected it to be (like laliqe encre noire maybe) but nah it's just plain simple woodsy citrus scent. It is sour that is for sure, smells like if you rubbed pine needles between your fingers. So if that's not your gig then maybe skip or sample it first.

It's a COOL fragrance but nothing mindblowing or extreme or disgusting, as one person wrote "it's a main line bvlgari, how unsafe can it be? "
This kind of also reminds me of something my dad used to wear, like an aftershave lotion or something like that, maybe a note or two are similar.

Very solid for money i bought it for I'm pleasantly surprised after reading a bunch of stupid stuff how it's unwearable and rough and bla bla bla. If you have smelled 5 different smelling fragrances you won't ever find this to be super weird or something like that.

Can't wait to rock it, now is the perfect time to wear it, i think it won't work in winter time i think it doesn't have enough in it to hold it when the cold kicks in, but on a day where you're in a jacket, coat and sun is hitting you you will smell like a really expensive fragrance in my opinion.

8/10 for sure in my books.

Kamalsingla

I found it a bit similar to Rasasi Shuhrah (which I like very much) but very subtle version.

Smellgood_morechairs

I’m enjoying it.

muhathan

Being a South East Asian, if I can only have one word to describe this fragrance is that it's... traditional. Yeah, I think that's it. Definitely not a mass pleaser and if I were not a South East Asian, I'd probably wonder where and when I can wear this fragrance.

The smell reminds me of traditional-but-formal occasions or religious ceremonies. Maybe it's the Java vetiver, I don't know, but I'm way too familiar with the smell and I can imagine a traditional Javanese wedding smells like this. Not a bad thing, but I understand that it's not for everyone. And maybe being a Javanese descendant helps me to accept the smell as well.

I'd rather wear this when it's cold, though, or in an air-conditioned room. Otherwise, I suppose that you'd be overwhelmed by the atmosphere it brings. I understand well now how Morillas said that it's a "return to your roots" kind of fragrance and I think he absolutely nailed it, with a bit touch of modernity.

Definitely an experience and not something that you can translate well into numbers.

BatemansFragrances

Armando, Or maybe he just doesn't like the fragrance,? Maybe you need to let Toy Boy and pure malt macerate since you don't like those scents either, or maybe the bottles are bad?

elaremuyser

I sprayed it on my wrist in-store and I've never wanted to scrub a scent off of me so quickly. Right off the bat, I got assaulted by the calamansi. I'm from the Philippines and calamansi is very common here and while I do like calamansi as a condiment along with soy sauce for grilled meats, I do NOT want to smell like it. As if the sourness wasn't enough, the rind is probably included in here too, so it's equally even more offensive to me because it's also so bitter to my nose. The earthy notes don't help much either because the "fragrance" also manages to smell like unwashed ASS CRACK.

HATE THIS.

petshopb

I think this is fantastic. Very good balance between Gucci Guilty Absolute and Terre d'Hermes.

Raphayses

Simplismente PERFEITO !!

ScarletScent

This is much more wearable than I anticipated. I perceive the earthy features that others have mentioned, but the overall product is pleasant, has character, and doesn't wear all that heavily. You get a classic, citrus-filled opening that moves quickly to feature a prominent (but not lipsticky) iris note and clean vetiver with some sweet touches from the styrax.

Longevity was around 6-7 hours for me, but the sillage was a little lacking in my opinion, even for an EDP. Nice bottle, weird sprayer

AGToth

As BonClay said:
"Smells like a big new car with nice leather"… I just supplement, inside a mall.

emilymonroe1

This is so lovely! Warm and earthy

robson_martello

It's not for my nose. On my skin, it smells like burnt wire! Offensive and invasive perfume!

BonClay

Smells like a big new car with nice leather

OHLAWDTOMFAWD

For me, it smells better in the air. I get the citrus and wood tones in the air fairly pleasantly. But on skin, it is quite unpleasant. The earthiness becomes overtly prominent and suffocates everything else. Perhaps just my skin reactiveness/chemistry, but it didnt work for me.

OmarBlue

I am sorry to anyone who read my first review of this fragrance. I was so young and naive back then.

If your nose is sensitive to a certain note, it will make you hate the whole composition unless that specific note is your fave. For me, that note is Iris/Orris note, which I used to hate and still do not like much when it is the main player. However, if it is a background note, it adds so much depth and complexity to the composition.

When I first smelled Terrae Essence, all I was able to smell is iris, and I was still new to this world and I just hated the perfume with passion. Now, after nearly a year, I went back to it, and it changed my whole opinion on it.

Yes, I still find iris the most prominent note that plays from start to end, and it adds this lipsticky/makeupy note that I am not a very big fan of, but it blends so well with the earthy notes and vetiver. The citrus opening does not last very long, and I wish it would have. The citron gives this typical dry tartness while the Calamansi gives it some sweetness that I appreciate. *Calamansi to me smells very very similar to green mandarins with additional sweetness.

After that, the composition is mostly linear with earthy notes, iris and vetiver, and some styrax. It is very masculine but elegant. It has good longevity and projection and is a compliment puller while not being very mainstream, like the rest of the Bulgari man line. There are some similarities to the Hermes TdH line, but way less emphasis on citruses, which makes me prefer the Hermes TdH line more, but I also believe that people who care less about citruses will prefer this.

Overall, I like it so much, but I do think that you need to train your nose before trying it if you have only smelled mainstream stuff because it lies on the edge between mainstream and challenging scents. I still wish that the Orris played a lesser role and citruses, specifically Calamansi, played a bigger one, but I like it nonetheless.

Melihkata 23

the openinng smells like extinguished joint

bb101011

Gucci Guilty absolute and Terre D’hermes had a baby

assgapelover

To me much more in common with declaration than Terre d'Hermes. This is a great perfume. You can smell the styrax as it remind me a bit of Bel ami at some point. Anyway, to me the same ballpark than declaration, spicy and earthy with a leathery feeling all the way (maybe the styrax).

Kelz23

Gucci guilty absolute smells wayyyy better than this. This has a weird citrusy note that doesn’t belong. GGA smells more masculine and rugged, which is what I want in a leather fragrance. This is just weird imo

kanak

I find Terrae Essence Beautiful. It's probably not going to be a popular opinion and if you ask me to me dissect the notes and explain exactly which notes are great etc, I could not really pin point it as such. So rather than do a note by note review, I'll go in a different direction.
I have a Swiss friend named Klaus who is retired here in India and has a beautiful House with a huge backyard that's filled with all kinds of citrus trees n herbs growing over. A lot of oranges, lemon and lime and the Indian variety grapefruit we call Moosambi. Sometimes, mostly on Sundays I stop by while he's working in the garden to just hang out and chat while he's pottering around in the mud and since He's a classical musician by trade, there's always Chopin or Bach playing in the background.

The smell of freshly plucked oranges and orange peel resin on your hands, wet mud, mulch, water from the irrigation drips, drinking lemonade, My Dogs chasing squirrels and hanging out with my friend on a sunny day. All of this is what Bvlgari terrae Essence reminds me of, a peaceful day spent with organic things and somehow feeling myself reconnecting with the earth.

PS. Not a safe blind buy fragrance but dont let some of the comments fool you, it's not a scary one either by any stretch ( It's a Mainstream Bvlgari release, How Risky do you think it's going to be?) But longevity and projection are good so if you're looking for something citrus oriented that's a bit earthy and not TDH and a bit off the beaten path, do check it out. I really love it.

DJM

Very recently picked up a bottle of this, and I am really liking this stuff. Reminds me of a combination of Aqva Amara and Soir with a little incense mixed in. I definitely get the earthy vibe from this as many have stated. Good longevity on me, decent projection and definitely unique and different from a lot of offerings currently out there.

I can see this being worn almost anytime of the year. Summer included if easy on the trigger. This one can also be dressed up, or dressed down. This one is all man here. Well blended as I find most others from this house as well. Not really picking up too much leather in the few wearings of this, and if I do, I don't mind a nice leather in fragrances as long as not overbearing.

I loved this one initially which is kind of rare for me as of late. Definitely glad that I picked up a bottle of this. Love the way I can catch this one in the air when the breeze is blowing just right. Very earthy yet to me relaxing at the same time. And no, I don't think you have to be 40 and up to enjoy this one. If you like the way it smells, just wear it and enjoy it without tying it to a certain age. Funny how certain older scents such as Kouros and some of the other powerhouses that many consider to be old man scents now were all worn by teen agers and 20 somethings back in the day. I was one of them.

If you don't want to walk around smelling like everyone else, give this one a try. It may just surprise you for the better

Candyandy

TIP: If you dislike leather notes in fragrances, you will probably dislike Terrae Essence too. It doesn't have an officially listed leather note, but the combination of vetiver, earthy notes and that "burnt orange" creates an aroma that people who hate leather hate. It doesn't really smell like leather, only vaguely hints at it, but it's enough of a similarity that it makes for a good proxy to help you decide if you should try this scent.

Skin In the Game:
One of the more skin reactive fragrances, this one stirs things up. I find it smells entirely different on my skin versus my shirt. My skin is an absorption monster and yet 'Terrae' lasts really well for hours; projecting a soft drift of wood and sensual earthiness. You can actually stop right here if you want.

Duly Noted:
Citrus open, two different types of Vetiver in the middle, some orris and a base where Styrax is loveable with finesse. Animalic haters might want to try this one. Or not ever! Now. . the Vetiver: You will not be entangled with the Vetiver. It will not take a tactical nuclear detergent bomb to refresh yourself. This Vetiver is so fun and free.

Side Rant:
Definitely 'not for the office'. What the hell does that mean? Is it not for the strip club, the porno production house, the plant lot, the sweaty gym health club(wash your gear, for God's sake).
I think what office must mean is higher density cubicles, a fragrance cannot be worse than the cubicle neighbor with wretched dietary habits and all that follows. I am sorry pig man but you yourself are not for office. Will it be out the door, or down the stairwell? Office?! : put on your big boy pants and figure it out. If you are an options broker tops on the production list--wear it, it's your game. Ask the lady with the rubber tipped fingers that has been there for along time. She knows how the corporation works and she will tell you if you stink. God I really just think she rules, you know?
Side Rant:
Gender is an attitude now that can be backed up with microsurgery. I just saw on Curly Fragrances the hostess declared that women like the floral fragrances on men. I listen to her. I enjoy florals once in awhile.
Seriously though, alot of Paris Hilton fragrances have musk and even some animalic qualities. I have alot of Paris because it is carefree and fun. I would say she is quite feminine. Please yourself in this world. Your own smell, and not gender is the thing in choosing fragrance. Does it smell good on you? What is your own odor like and now pair some fragrances. So fun.

A Walk in the Woods:
Issey Miyake 'Wood and Wood' is wonderful. It is accessible and delightful. It is sophisticated, subtle, and of great taste. I love Issey Miyake-- so pleasant and natural.
Terre d'Hermes is for the true Vetiver lover and it really hangs on with Earth and Vetiver but no hint of beastiness. Best projection in my opinion. This fragrance has strong fun note.
Moschino Toy Boy seems to have some really luxurious wood. It only has Sandalwood in it. Is there some kind of accord action here? Maybe Rose, Clove and Amber? Kind of a rosewood thing? I adore it and it hangs well with the woodies.
Aside:
As a reformed Vetiver hater I want to thank Roja Dove,Guerlain and Tom Ford. Yep, used to hate Vetiver. Kept looping back on it. Now. . . I really like it. Took years.
Side Rant:
Starting to just love Bvlgari. Bvlgari Man is new to me. Bvlgari is just always up to mischief(read: innovation and daring). Always so chic. Mancera and Montale are in the same league of big- balled innovation. Comin' at Ya. Francesca Bianchi is so elegant and always up to mischief in the fun sense.

Terrae-- Fair Price, Fabulous Formulation:
Sample Bvlgari Man Terrae because it is so different. It took me four tries to even understand it.
Might as well--time for alittle CYA:
I am still working on Cartier Declaration where I opened my big fat mouth with a declaration that maybe is alittle regrettable. That review I am so sorry for. I'm starting to kind of learn Declaration. Maybe more humility before I send out a 'flamer' . (Funny, I cook with cumin alot. I use it in my Indian food, my Mexican food, and many others. Still, I just don't do overly strong body scents unless that person is healthy in which case they might even smell nice. Maybe. Oh god---Shut up already. Quit digging the hole.)

Application Specific :
Interestingly, 'Terrae' fragrance performs differently according to how hard you go on the application. Not just how easy it is to smell. It is the interaction of the notes. I know it sounds weird.
I find a one squirt or two on each flat of the arm creates a delightful waft with more inclinations to good wholesome wood and less earthy, biologic fragrances. Go harder and the styrax asserts itself. Go harder and the entire scent is just much more lively and so much more radical. Hot, just plain hot. You might like it. Huh?
Want to be alittle naughty? Walk out of the woods and walk your own damn walk. Bvlgari Man Terrae. Like it? I knew you wood.(sorry, I am not sorry.)

spiceysauce5

Very Very similar to TDH, but earthier, more warm-spicy instead of fresh-spicy, and the vetiver doesn't have that "grassy" vibe from TdH that creates a "high pitched note" if that makes any sense. This one is calmer but still spicy. Really good. I think this comes across as less mature leaning than TdH and for that I think I prefer it, even though its a blatant copy or "reimagination"

Tim Maramis

A niche fragrance from a designer house. I would say that this is a fresh vetiver-earthy scent with citrus and woody elements. Very masculine, very unique and very elegant. Smells expensive and certainly it is not a fragrance for the average Joe. You need a big collection in order to appreciate such diamonds, or at least you need to love vetiver-earthy scents in the first place. 8/10 from me.

This might be the best vetiver scented fragrance of any I have smelled or owned. I like a lot of the Bvlgari Man line, and I think this one might almost challenge Man in Black for the top, and I am in love with that stuff.

It has a clean, yet earthy, and just very calming, natural, grounded scent to it, I am not sure how to describe it in words, I know sound and scent are often strongest correlators to memories, and when I have worn this, it instantly makes me happy and have memories of great outdoor experiences I have had in many national parks, forests, mountain ranges over the years.

This isn't an all pleasing, easy to pull off scent. It takes the right type of person to like it, and for their skin chemistry to work well with it. It just smells phenomenal and like such a pure, natural delight on my skin, and I really need to get my hands on a 100ml of this stuff to keep using it more! I always advise one to get samplers from the fragrance house, or decants from someone before blind buying or even just having smelled something once or so, because fragrances are such a subjective thing, and I am just delighted with how much this one works well for me, and how much people around me have complimented it as well.

Its really one of the worst smelling perfumes i ever tried, i dont know if anyone shares the same feeling about it or i am the one who has a problem in his nose, never blind buy this perfume

benjaminnaresh

Very good fragrance. Slight similarities to TDH but this one has its own beauty. There is sweetness in there. It’s a masculine scent but very modern masculine. It’s not the type that wild make you want to puke or feels too heavy/strong. Very well made I would say. Projection is good for the first 3 hours at least. 6 hours plus wearing it and I could still smell it. One of the nicest manly fragrances I’ve tried in a long time.

robertandsheilaburke

This one is very unique. Do not blind buy, smell first because if you are not into earthy (dirt) fragrances, you will hate this one. I also smell an incense smell too. I love it, but I love unique frags! I am glad I bought it! I find a resemblance to Encre Noir.

SmellMyCheese

Blind buy off the reference to Gucci Absolute which I like a lot.

I find it closer to Gucci than I do Terre d'Hermes but still this is quite a different fragrance. Yes it has earthiness and a somewhat smoky vetiver but Gucci Absolute is bone dry leather woody, this is quite a sweet lemony citrus over that and so quite fresh feeling in comparison.

I think this is pretty high quality for a designer range and fairly unique too compared to your usual designer contenders, but I'd say probably for the late twenties and above tbh, it has a mature feel to it.
Would make a good masculine signature scent (or a bold office scent if you ever go back to the office, or maybe one for smokers) for spring/fall months, then you might switch to Gucci Absolute for the colder months if you want to keep that sort of theme going as a signature.

Definitely get the references to Absolute and TDH. Also very earthy. No doubt that this is a mans man fragrance. Sample first, this is not blind buy safe. I couldn’t get into it, but I am glad to see a designer house release a fragrance that caters to those that prefer individualistic fragrances.

BdosMandinga

I am amazed by the new Bvlgari fragrances, all of them are really good and easily distinguishable from other designer fragrances. The legendary Alberto made a great job, and I especially like this one and Wood Essence. This Terra essence carries on the raw power of nature similar to Aqva Amara, very masculine scent, just love it.

dogmeat

This opens up bright and a little rough around the edges...it makes me think of the sun-baked earth or a dry lake bed. As it dries down, it smooths out some and turns into an earthy vetiver on my skin. The drydown doesn't feel as arid as the opening does. This is the most original of the 'Man Essence' line from Bvlgari, but it is still very easy to wear and would work in almost any situation. I think this may get compared to Gucci Guilty Absolute because it is unmistakably masculine and not sweet, but I think the similarities end there. Also, this really doesn't remind me of Terre, despite the earthiness. The more I wear this, the more I like it. There is something austere about Terrae Essence, but it still feels warm and vibrant at the same time. Good stuff.

Ecafnaem38

Bought blind, gave it three wearings to see if it would grow on me, not feeling this one. It’s pretty good mid to dry down but the opening is too earthy for me.
Looking to trade this for anything else lol

zebra782

This is earthy, too earthy, it will suffocate everything around you.

beavisbonce

It’s not like Gucci absolute

Smellgood_morechairs

You had me at Gucci Guilty Absolute!!!!!!

asgeirn

Just ok for me so far, nothing new or groundbreaking. Smells like a one-in-a-million kind of scent... A big let down for me after all the hype.

evilspin

Just received this as I blind purchased because I love Bvlgari and the Man line and the notes looked promising. I wasnt too excited about the constant comparison to Terre d'Hermes because although I love that one I wanted something different. Thankfully, upon smelling this, It wasnt at all a copy of Terre d'Hermes nor so similar. But I can see the comparison. Terre d'Hermes has more of an orange pungent earthy and woody juicy punch. This one smells more powdery, dirt like and acidic lemon growing mold. And thats not a bad thing. (Speaking of which I cant wait to try Hermes new Terre Givree fragrance).

This fragrance was ok and very different from the wood and neroli essence within this line. Kudos for the uniqueness, but I wasnt floored or wowed as I had hoped to be. Although people liked the scent on me and said it wasnt bad, I didnt feel super happy or confident with it on. I was still hiping for that "wow". This fragrance does have the Terre d'Hermes feel people are comparing it to probably due to citrus and Earthy notes which I love, but also the powder musky feel of Ramon Monegal Umbra which isnt liked by me. This is just an "ok" from me but happy and not regretting to own it. It may grow on me.

I don't see the Dior Sauvage or Gucci Guilty Absolute comparison AT ALL!
Folks train those noses! Dior Sauvage is typical sweet bomb every house is seemignly releasing and Gucci Guilty Absolute which I love is a pure leather scent like a mans upscale shoe store boutique lingering in the air.

This is more unique and not the typical sweet millennial metrosexual "everybody else is doing it, so why can't we release something similar" type of scent. Like Paco Rabane One million, Invictus, Dior Sauvage, YSL L'homme, and all those unmanly sweet bomb scents appealing to the mainstream masses and clubbers just like the prolific overrated Oud releases that are saturating the stores eclipsing fragrances that are actually classic, unique, niche or true works of art.

Kudos to Bvlgari for not doing another sweet bomb millennial metrosexual scent. This is more manly and daring. If you like the scents and style of Terre d'Hermes, Nasomatto Black Afgano and Ramon Monegal Umbra, but something about those wasnt making you call them your favorite yet..this will be up your ally as it feels like it has the best of those three in one.

Ecafnaem38

I want to like this but I’m not feeling it. I’ll keep trying maybe it will grow on me.

Kuldeep S

strong citrus fragrance with background of Gucci guilty absolute. very good fragrance.

beavisbonce

I'm just glad to see a mens release that isn't a sweet tonka woody yawn

Don Pitralon

My verdict is…meh. Definitely NOT similar to neither TdH nor GGA. I understand why people are mentioning these scents, because they both are somewhat “dark” and “dense” (using quotation marks to emphasize the fact that these words would be likely used by people from the street, certainly not fragrantica members and niche aficionados). The scent profile is much closer to creations of Alessandro Gualtieri, be it under Nasomatto or Orto Parisi brand. It must contain the same aromachemicals as Black Afghano, though used in much more palatable and smoother way. I agree with all the projection, longetivity and “manliness” comments. If you identify with these qualities as fragrance user, just go ahead and blind buy, you won’t be disappointed. It might have rattled the cages in designer world as long awaited departure from overtly sweet or fresh blue avalanche of mediocrity, but for someone familiar with niche brands above, there is no surprise left. I will pass for something more original and sophisticated.

jarno1208

I like it. Very masculine. Slight resembles to Gucci Guilty Absolute based on profile / category. Still different. Colder weather and maybe more evening wear, but you can pull this off during day. Interesting scent and very well blended scent.

The Best Gentleman Scent from the line 😍🌍🪵🌿🍋

jacked 24/7

This is an absolute masterpiece. More to come when I get more wearings. But so far 10 outta 10 easily. Has hints of Gucci guilty absolute, but definitely different. This isn’t as linear.

Also been going strong on my skin for 7 hours. Checks the performance box.

Update: when I bought this I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. This is unexpected. When I first sprayed I was almost like well the search is over! Don’t need to buy anything else. This smells like my personality. It has a citrusy earthy, dirt, rich smell to it that smells extremely masculine but doesn’t come off as off putting one bit. Smells like citrus fruits buried in the dirt, I can picture a Italian landscape smelling this. And goodness… it is just a beautiful scent. This is a modern man’s fragrance. I am so tired of the generic bullshit mass appealing stuff that is saturated in the market today. This truly is a breath of fresh air. I haven’t smelled TDH in years so can’t make comparisons but I don’t remember liking that as much as this. Performance is great! I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely beast mode but it’s close… I get a good 8-10 hours on skin with high projection for the first 4 hours. I think this may be better suited for warm weather, at least on my skin…. And for me, I will buy this again. Which is rare for me I never buy 2 bottles of anything. This is me. Smells like my personality, through and through. Ignore the hate and try

FragranceWriter

This fragrance is a dedication to the earthier side of vetiver and orris butter. Where most vetiver fragrances I smell are more clean and citrus-y, this is a slightly darker, dirtier vetiver - in all the right ways.

Imagine that vetiver and orris are essentially like root vegetables, being pulled out of the earth in their natural goodness, covered in dirt. That's the idea as i see it. As it dries, the balance and versatility increases and totally strikes me as cool, original and fresh/modern with touches of fire-y smokiness.

Update: Sprayed on paper, the Iris and citrus really shine a lot more compared to my skin. This gives it a much more cleaned, sophisticated and dressed-up vibe compared to an earthy, smokey vetiver. So it may smell different on your skin than mine.

faiq.danial

I tried a lot of perfume at shopping mall I sprayed and tested it on that day...but once I try this perfume I fell in love with the uniqueness of the scent...the scent really unique and stand out from other perfume...because I'm using fresh or soft perfume for my daily perfume...once I spray i actually smell a bit tobacco and very pungent smell but however the smell is quite pleasing. The salesperson said that it has earthy scent but from my opinion it's a more likely a smoky feeling. Fyi I'm not a smoker so I can adopt with the smell. However, after it dry the smell is not pungent as before but the scent is more soothing than before. Overall I can said that this perfume is very unique and stand out from the other. If u want to try perfume that stand from the other u may try this.

jamesnash

…notwithstanding my dislike of iris/orris i don’t like this…lovely opening…the orris in this is strong throughout the mid esp, coating everything with its waxy schmutz…slight resemblance to Td’H, slightly more a family resemblance to AMs’ own GGA, if you can imagine them defiled by iris/orris…could excel in cool/fresh weather for those who like this kind of thing…3-20-22, i’m giving this another wearing and accepting its irisy ways a little better…the rest of the build is so deftly handled and the opening so nice i am going to adapt…

Kreed

This is how Dior - Sauvage should have smelled like. This is a woody Sauvage without the ambroxan bomb.

Fragrantguy

This is a hidden gem. I blind bought this because I was interested in the earthy notes, I am very satisfied with this fragrance. This is a masculine, earthy, woody, slightly powdery fragrance. I can see the similarities to TDH but this has less citrus and more wood to it. It has a classy, refined scent to it. This is some thing I could see a rich man wearing, only I didn’t have to pay a huge price for it. I also get the leather vibe people are talking about but it’s not like a leather jacket kind of vibe, more like a country leather vibe. A very nice masculine scent.

Old School Tie

I really liked this when I tried this in September but I ended up getting TF x 2.....Beau du Jour and Noir Anthracite. However, I did like this and will get a bottle after Christmas. The scent was quite good and the performance alright too. I need to have a bottle and investigate it in detail...

gxbjw

I just don’t get the comparison between this scent to Gucci Guilty Absolu. If anything, I find this scent extremely wearable whilst the other one smells repulsive. Yes, I said it.

This is the Terre D’Hermes for guys in mid-20s like me. Easily can be pulled off wearing a white t-shirt or in slightly dressed up occasions. Contemplating to buy a full bottle w the only question mark being the sub-par longevity.

Scenttoremember

Nobody is goint to notice the fact that this resembles Slow Dance by Byredo?! It’s the masculine version of it. Mostly the Orris root exacrly like SD, but this one ja more manly.

Hermez

This smells like a fresher version of Interlude Black Iris.

Why ambery if no amber in this???

Update: 12/12/21--While I continue to enjoy this fragrance quite a lot, I want to mention that the atomizer on my bottle is really awful. It seems to randomly select between a drenching fire hose effect, a mist so fine that it is nearly impossible to detect, and a decent spritz. This is the only product from the Bvlgari Man line that I own, and I am wondering if this performance is typical of the stylish looking atomizers integrated into the bottles in this line or if I just got a dud. In any event, I still enjoy the fragrance enough to put up with the dreadful atomizer.

I am just completing my second full day wearing Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence and I am very pleased after blind buying this fragrance in a n airport duty free.
This fragrance hints at Gucci Guilty Absolute, which I adore, but here, there is no leather accord and a hint of sweetness in the deep dry down--all features differentiating this scent from GGA.
The opening here is a delightful citrus with a bit of a sharp green accent note. This green note harmoniously leads into a vetiver-focused heart which is beautifully accented by smooth, creamy orris. The dry down has a rich, dark earthy element underscored by a rich, slightly sweet styrax. The whole composition is rich and smooth. I would say the scent here has traditionally masculine associations. With the fragrance's restrained projection, I would wear it confidently to work.
If this scent had been released as part of the Le Gemme line of Expensive, exclusive Bvlgari scents, it would not have been out of place. As part of the Man line, it is that rare flanker that breaks truly new ground. The fragrance feels more expensive than it is and radiates quality. Longevity is considerable, but, as mentioned, projection remains moderate throughout the scent's 8+ hour life. About the only place where the quality is less than superior is the presentation, where a non-fiction box holds an attractive, but interceptions bottle with a mediocre integrated atomizer. These minor gripes notwithstanding, at the prices for which I see this scent being sold, it is a great value.
Alberto Morillas, who created this fragrance, is always in demand. When he creates wonderful, unexpected fragrances like Terrae Essence, it is easy to see why he is such a sought-after nose. This really is a very, very good fragrance. Folks who enjoy smooth, rich earthy scents will love it as will vetiver fans. Highly recommended.

samosbabos

It is very similar to Saharian Wind by Mancera. They are identical in the drydown. But this one is cheaper.

Performance is also great.

Trendkill97

The scent somehow manages to match the vibe and colour off the bottle. Very clean and uplifting like the others in this line, just in the opening however. Slowly this dries down to something like a root, earthy, vegetal surrounded by light flames, it gives that image, there's a sense of red wetness, a different facet of vetiver comes through in this. A bold detour from this line that usually consists of safe scents. Worth a sample, if the citrusy, earthy orris vetiver notes interest you, some might consider it a distant cousin to the TdH line, but to me this is a little more dark, rugged and tyre-like in the dry down.

Seuni

It's OK. I can't understand why people say it's similar to Ombré Leather or Black Afgano.

It's light, with mostly orange-like citrus with earthy, but sweet, light and pleasant undertone. There's completely no leather, not much orris or any for me - very far away from orris/iris things like Dior Homme, Givenchy Gentleman or the Valentino Oumo lines.

It's a clean orange-like citric smell with delicate woody and earthy undertone. Some say it's surprising for a designer fragrance, I wouldn't be so eager. Earthyness far away from dark vetivers. Moderate projection, moderate lasting, a bit of 40+ man vibe. Will be great for late summer and early/mid autumn. Will work anytime but heat situations, just use more or less juice.

Smells much better on your skin.

sortaeduard

Does this smell anything like Aqva Amara? Or does anyone know any alternatives to that ? :D

Matux

It does refer to Terre, beyond the name. Also to Gucci Guilty Absolute as well a Mr. Blass. I even find some of the same accords in Ricci's Memoir d'un Homme. Of course, it does not smell like these, however, there are notes in common - a family vibe"? I would even say it is redundant if you have any of those.

Nice, manly, sort of musky, soil - y, not the easy, soft stuff usually found in most releases. Now, its flaw: it does not smell to anything in nature. It is a good choice if you don't care about that.

Do not buy blind.

thethe

This is to Gucci absolu as Prada Luna Rossa carbon is to dior sauvage.

Rotten Rebel

This opens up with a burst of citrus which is then joined by a nuanced dose of vetiver and orris..
I really enjoy that citrus!

After that the blend goes in a green and slightly spicy and floral direction until it finally transitions into this earthy scent with a resinous and almost balsamic kind of sweetness to it.

The citrus, the green and earthy side are all the most intense within the first 30 minutes of the lifetime of the fragrance.. The full dry down is a bit different with an almost warm and ambery feel to it with a slight hint of sweetness..

Moderate projection and longevity on my skin. Enjoy the dry down more than the opening.

I usually don't even enjoy these kind of scents, but I like this one..
So someone who usually enjoy this kind of scents will most likely love it. :)

elyssium

I sampled this on my wrist today at David Jones. Very unusual, unique & niche quality. Performance, longevity & sillage are quite good. It's strength isn't beastly (unless you over-spray) but it definitely stands out from the crowd of current popular fragrances. Sophisticated, contemporary, chic & cutting edge for the discerning man, woman or non-binary person. It's that good & underrated. The younger demographic might not appreciate it's edgy character yet but the older, more mature, open-minded & forward thinking fragrance fanatics would find it highly appealing. Already added to the wish list. Top shelf!

Monke go brr

This is how I imagined Terre d'Hermes would smell like. A Iavander with citrus blended ino this earthy feel. It's nice but still not my cup of tea. I really hate Terre d'Hermes because it's like the most synthetic frag that I ever smelled whilst at the same time having the name that it has. If you like Terre, maybe try this. It's similiar but smells just much more natural.

SimplDude

Since Gucci Guilty Absolut and Philip Pleine has grown on me pretty well, I placed an order for a 60 ml bottle of this new release and I will post an update after my first sniff.

Be right back my fragfriends ;)

Update: 11/07

Ok, I just got my bottle in the mail yesterday. First let me get this out of the way, this is an acquired scent. It's not a mass appealing fragrance. This is totally different from Terre d'Hermes, Philip Pleine or Gucci Guilty Absolute (I have and I loved them all) but there's some vibe to it that may remind you of the three so if you love those three like I do, probably you want to sample this one.

Compared to the three, this one seems fruitier after the initial citrusy burst then followed by a certain sweetness that may be pleasant or weird to some nose because that faint sweetness will become dark, earthy and leathery (although there's no leather accord listed) in the mid to the dry down. It should be the vetiver. I am also very familiar with Calamansi, one of the top notes listed that gives off that citrus opening. My nose easily picked it up since its a popular citrus fruit that has varieties of uses, particularly for culinary purposes, that grows in most parts of South East Asia.

This is a more mature fragrance probably best for men 30 and up. It would take some confidence to wear this fragrance but to me personally, this is gorgeous and masculine. I would make some full wearing at home for a follow up review but as of now, I like this fragrance.

“Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏

Unmodernize

If I don't like an opening, it's hard to then like the fragrance because the opening is first impressions. I find this to be a bit offputting. Makes me think of the middle ages and bad crops.

It smells like a darker Terre D'hermes but less appealing since the oranges are abscent. What makes TDH good is the balance of dark and bright. This is earthy and brown through and through.

I read someone here said it has a "cannabis note", and I was like "yeeeah, so that's what it is!". It's very apparent once you recognize it, and you can't unsmell it.

Long stort short, if you don't like Terre D'Hermes or hemp accords, you probably won't like it since it goes to cannabis in the dry down. I don't get the citruses or the iris, so don't hope for any purple or yellow in this. It's pretty exclusive about the black and brown notes.

A feeling of deep leather is here, but plays second fiddle to the main accord, which I would describe as "burnt earth and leaves".

I think Morillas did his job here, he is the Bvlgari goto-guy and they probably asked for a "contemporary Terrae D'Hermes", judging from the design and the notes.

So he did it and threw in the very popular hemp note.

ckorp8

Tried this at the counter in the local department store. Doesn’t resemble the pyramid for sure. What I get is an oud leather combination. Not too leathery like Ombre Leather but close. The scent is sweetened by the oud. Not too bad at all. Might get it the next time I visit the store again.

Edit. Did get it and never regret the decision. Smooth and lasting. Easy to use.

strut

Rubber gasoline perfumery goodies + Sauvage, remains quite the same in the dry down. Was interesting to smell what savage will smell like with those rubber burnt notes. Once I smelled it I can move on.

Woody57

Alberto Morillas shows his creative genius in this scent. It is the polar opposite of this yrs. earlier release by Philip Plein "No Limit$" I admit I am a lover of vetiver and resins: elemi, myrh, labdanum etc. So when I saw the note breakdown for Tearrae Essence I was intrigued.

This scent is not fresh or fruity. It is not a mass appealing blue fragrance. And it is not uber masculine, or animalic in any way with absolutely no herbaceous or green notes to be found.

Instead, picture a man in a gauzy white linen shirt and kahki shorts sitting under an olive tree on a sunny Mediterranean day. Or a field filled with freshly cut hay. The scent is modest and elusive to begin with. It starts out quite subtle and hard to pinpoint. But over time the vetiver, resin and earthy notes develop into a fragrance that is reminiscent of grain being roasted in a pan.

The book of Genesis said that man was formed from the dust of the earth before life was breathed into him. Bvlgari's Terrae Essence smells to me of the earth. Not soil, or the things that were grown in it, but the earth itself. Perhaps I'm a bit too philosophical. But wearing BMTE makes me feel more human. Not as if I'm trying to make you notice me. The scent feels so natural that its hard to detect at times. And yet because its a eau de parfum, its sublime character lasts a good 8 plus hours on my skin. And for these reasons I really love this fragrance.

I need a good weeks of wearing to get a better feel, but I think BMTE is better suited to Spring and Autumn. It seems quite versatile though and I plan to wear it through the Winter. Leans more masculine. Longevity is good as expected from an edp. The scent is woody, earthy and light. Nothing deep or dark here. I could wear it for days while on vacation and be happy. It's sublime. 9.5 out of 10 for me

Its expensive for now. And Bvlagri is not known for dropping their prices. I don't suggest blind buying it. You need to test it on your skin for a full day or you might truly be disappointed. Just spray some on, walk away and forget about it.

CGV

This is brilliant! I am not a fan of the line, of vetiver as a note and also not of Morillas but this is a stunner. Terrific blending of vetiver with a hint of citrus, earthy, woody leather nuances. Instantly reminds me of Toscana. warm yet cool, sophisticated, welcoming, charming and vivid. I want open a Chianti Classico straight away to go with this. Never sweet, no mass appeal factor but a very intelligently constructed character. I feel earth, the windy dancing through the leaves of the trees, the wineyard in a late summer / early fall scenario somewhere around Siena. Modern day masterpiece.

DrPerfum

This fragrance remember me to Bvlgari Onekh, from pirvate collection. Smell very well.

ricardocarvalho87

You get a fruity yet earthy, barnyardy scent that's reminiscent of some types of ouds. It's very intense and stable, so if you like it, you'll love it, but there's a certain chemical feel to it that's aggravating to my nose because the smell just sticks and stays there and doesn't change. I don't dislike the idea though. It just needs to be less chemical at this price point.

TomW

Tested this recently in my local department store. I’ve not had much success with Bvlgari fragrances as they don’t seem to sit on my skin too well, but was interested to see if this latest offering in the Man line would be better. It’s a nice warm, earthy, ambery fragrance that dries a little powdery. I get the touch of leather that has been mentioned in some of these early reviews but don’t find it overbearing at all. This will be good for the colder weather, and potentially office safe if some restrain is used on the application. Very good quality blending but it doesn’t light my fire enough to warrant a full bottle purchase I don’t think.

gimmickal

Harsh in the beginning going into a dirty leather gasoline smell. Not for me.

mrpassion

Alberto Morillas has his own high end niche brand called Mizensir (owned by his daughter). For that brand he created three marvelous oud fragrances which were part of the brand's launch lineup. These were Ideal Oud, Original Oud and Perfect Oud. Later he added more Oud fragrances namely Golden Oud and Tender Oud. So, you can imagine the kind of homework Alberto has done with the Oud note recently. (Not that any note is a stranger to him)
Here he used a lot of that recent expertise and you are getting it for a lot cheaper. Almost half the price. With this Bvlgari the Oud note simply floats on a bed of fresh aquatic notes. You can literally feel that there is a bed of classic fresh notes and they carry the oud without actually touching it. There is a sense of separation there. The bottle is gorgeous. I am a big fan of the marble finish. The only little gripe is that the sprayer on these bottles is really bad. Not a deal breaker at all. The fragrance is top notch. He could have released it for Mizensir and demanded double the price. The scent is everything you would need in autumn and winter. For me, it was an instant purchase. It is office safe. Date night worthy as well. Classy! Over all the oud note stays with you until the dry down where also the vetiver shines. Must buy for anyone who wants to learn what Alberto's recent work has been about.

Woody57

Finally tested on my skin yesterday with 5 sprays, not just a tester strip. 18 hrs. later its still a very noticeable, pleasant skin scent. Its one of those fragrances that has moderate sillage, but excellent longevity! A true EDP. Warm, resinous and ambery. But despite its nuanced performance I find it can be too strong in the first couple of hours when applied to close to the face. Better to use it down the shirt and other extremities.

noelmarchaynes

This for me starts of Td'H and dries down to Black Afgano/ Hindu Kush style.
I really don't get any Gucci Guilty Absolute similarity, infact I dont get any leather at all.
It's an interesting release and certainly different for Bvlgari, but it's not full bottle worthy for me.
Will edit the post when tested longevity and sillage more.

Candyandy

I need to test this more but what I can say is that this is way more leathery than I expected. Comparisons to Gucci Guilty Absolute and Tom Ford Ombré Leather are definitely in place. This is way closer to them than to Terre d'Hermès.

BGBG

Very potent fragrance. I smell pungent cannabis leaves in it despite the fact that this note is not listed. There must be also some grapefruit or something bitter or medicinal. For me it is like a mix of: Bad Boy Le Parfum + Fly Away Mugler + a little bit of Black Afghano. A daring one for sure. For me the ressemblance with Terre d'Hermes is more related to the name of the fragrance. Not for everyday use. Not office safe according to me. Rather for a night out with bad boy friends in leather jacket.

Woody57

I do not personally get the connection some people make between Terre d'Hermes and this because I am completely anosmic to TDH. I just can't smell the stuff! This however is giving me a good 8 hours just on a tester strip and I am longing to get it on my skin again soon. Sooo nice! It just really stands out to me above so many others. it surprised me actually. So far good longevity. Decent projection, about an arms length. It gives off a resinous, not a sugary sweetness mixed with those mysterious earth tones. The citrus notes are very understated with the oris root and vetiver being slightly elevated above them. Well blended and for a more mature customer I dare say. I would not call it a blue fragrance, but still very wearable. Resin lovers take note. This is fresh and modern, not deep and dark. I think it would perform best in cooler weather, but might do well on cool Summer evenings.

fatihalbayrak

I tested this today, wow such an amazing fragnrance, it smells like high quality niche fragrance, one of the best earth fragrances period. good mix of earth and iris wow.
edit: It smells similar to Interlude Black Iris

Hugo Montez

It's an OK fragrance. It has some opulent aura of leather-gasoline vibe with hint of citrus. In the same genre as Gucci Guilty Absolute but not as good. It's seems to have some hype now but I don't think it's worth it. Try it

masako_30

Much of this Bvlgari suggests a middle-earth between Guilty Absolute Gucci and H24 Hermès.
And in this middle there's a lemon that I really love. It has lost its sourness because it is wilting among the earliest molds, forsaken in an overripe fruit basket.
But in a good way! Too bad that this effect lasts a very short.
Guilty Absolute is unbeatable for the leather note of ingenious dynamism, a blend of tread tires and aged leather.
H24 for the mineral earthiness of iron in concrete, rusted away over time under rain.
I make a sum of these toned down elements, adding nothing but air and citrusy roundness.
I get Terrae Essence as a result.
And to my senses this result deserves praise, the highest grade I would assign to a perfume that I'd wear nostalgically before the days are fatally shortened.

This is somewhere between Terre d Hermes EDP, Ombre Leather and YSL Y EDP. Initial blast is semi fresh citrus vetiver but quickly it turns to quite resinous, fruity and rounded. Bit odd scent profile being masculine vetiver and leathery but still sweet and soft.

I bought this a few days ago and I must have used around 25 ML of it already haha

I can see the resemblance with Terre D'hermes... This one is a lot more dense though ... Alot more earthy, different kind of citrusy, and slightly more resinous I feel.

Lovely fragrance and has something very unique about it... I love the earthy somehow smokey aspect of it. It doesn't perform tooo well on me though ... I wish it had better silage and longevity!

I really like this so far. Spa like citruses and definitely a smoky type of leather note.

After another testing, I noticed a prominent play-doh note, which is a no no.

lovetribe

drier and sometimes smoky than terre d'hermes which inspired it. it's good news. with excellent performance and a touch on the drydown of rotten oranges that I don't like. price too high. 6.5 / 10

Omeklaasie

I just got a tester in a store when I asked for a leather fragrance. This is in the mid very similar to Ombre Leather to my nose. Maybe a bit more fresh and clean and without the florals in the opening. It opens with a strong citrus that disappears really quick. Than it is just ombre leather with a hint of vetiver. In the drydown it gets a bit more generic, but nonetheless very pleasant. A really good scent if you ask me!

Edit: I just put on them on side by side. Although somewhat different (OL sweet and somewhat dirty, TE green and a bit soapy) they give of similar vibes. I prefer OL over TE though

Released in Rome, where I'm now on vacation. Reminds me of Black Tie, which Alberto made for Fragrances One. Like a less intense and more versatile version of it.

Ok apparently I'm the first one who actually tried it :-)
It doesn't smell like Terre d'Hermes to me, but rather like Declaration De Cartier Parfum.
It's very pleasant but not that original... Performance is good, like the Cartier.
Good for formal occasions and for the fall/winter.

Don't you just love when no one has even smelled a fragrance and there are already several votes in the 'reminds me of' section? Impressive.

I agree with the comment below. This last year has had great Bulgari releases so looking to see them keep the momentum

I really love Glacial Essence, so I have high expectations about this frag, bottle looks good though.
