Not for me. This reminds of a toilet spray at my previous work place. The ones that spray every minute or something.

AnastasiaGostieva

Fresh herbaceous scent with lots of clean zesty citruses and aromatic undertones from juniper berries. It has a bit masculine (traditional male cologne) vibe for me. Also it reminds me a lot of MFK Gentle fluidity Silver (but I guess this one came first). I like it, it’s super refreshing indeed, with a nice woody base.

From the first whiff, it's clear that this fragrance is vodka-forward—BAM. However, as a lover of aromatic scents, this offering does not disappoint. It boasts a subtle spiciness and a refreshing, cooling sensation that hits just right. The notes mentioned are spot on.

I'd prefer to wear this on summery clothes rather than layering it with a sweater, as that might overwhelm the senses.
As time passes, I find myself drawn in, captivated by its addictive allure.

Panorama

Tested this on paper then skin. On paper it smelled exactly like Vodka, I was impressed. But on my skin it had that stale smell of pantry. I guess this is perfect example of "it smells different on everyone's skin".

croatus

I would like to thank a person who said that this needs to be sprayed on shirt instead of skin. VOTR is something really special. I've tested it on the paper and I was smelling it for the next 3 days. I love the dry down almost as much as opening.

It's a scent you can wear every day and make it your signature scent for spring and summer. The cooling effect that this perfume gives does feel like magic. Definitely a crowd pleaser, not simple and not overly complex like niche perfumes often smell - this complaint is completely uncalled for. It's smelling good that counts, not smelling complex.

The price really is the worst part and the fact that it disappears quickly on the skin. If you find it for cheaper and put it on clothes, it's 9.5/10. I'm a sneaky bastard and I got 100ml refill for around 200$. I just need to get a proper bottle so I can display it :D

This is a rough gem that you need to do know how to use and put some effort into getting it for reasonable price, but when you cover that, you'll be the best smelling bloke out there.

one of my favs

pilotdc

I really don't understand the references to Legend, Percival, and Fierce which have strong citrus/fruit notes where Vodka on the Rocks has none. This is just strong coriander and aldehydes w some florals in there. Smells a lot like Gentle Fluidity Silver because of the coriander, but GFS is way better. I think VotR would work better as a bathroom freshener than a perfume.

sydeyn

truly smells icy. very impressive

phpbb

Kismet Moscow is a superb clone of this. Tested them side by side.

Klasse

Okej, it’s in the same ballpark as Percival & Co, but it doesn’t actually smells like them. The one it reminds me the most of is Green Pearl by Thameen, or a mix between that and Percival to be honest. Not worth the full retail price but still a nice scent with a designer smell. Obviously with higher quality.
Versatile, clean, fresh and easy to wear.

Raul Claudiu

It smells alright and the performance is good but this is a maximum 50$ scent profile not 250$ for 50ml..you would have to be insane/a milionaire or know nothing about perfumes to buy this for retail price.

Ty/dc

To me this smells great & the quality is there too.

In my opinion an extremely versatile summer scent, I can see this being worn at a high end rooftop bar/restaurant or a luxury holiday. It’s simple, clean and luxurious.

Vodka on the rocks is up there with the best fresh scents on the market.

derby2169

Perhaps of somewhat of a controversial take.. I actually think this is an excellent offering from Kilian and very much a creation that aligns with the overall concept of the house, very wearable fragrances with ample body and very large in dimension that generally don't ever really leave what most people would consider their 'comfort zone'.

Saying this smells like lynx or adidas bodyspray is like claiming black phantom smells like a cheap coffee candle from ikea. It is definitely based on amberwood compounds, it smell undoubtedly 'blue', however it is a matter of the quality of the ingredients and composition. Huge blast of coriander/linalool in the opening, think clean fresh and bright, the alcohol evaporating briefly reminds of the sharpness of vodka. Large blast of cardamom resonates throughout the composition pretty much from start to finish. A lot of hedione aka generic white floral with little sweetness and kind of that clean linen vibe you may associate with laundry products. The most intense element is the amberwood, blue, radiant, musky, very clean, high quality ambers you may associate with BdC.

Overall something that makes me think Nouveau riche in the best way possible, lululemons, those chunky silver 500$ apple headphones, the newest iphone max pro ultra mega, an apple watch on a stainless steel strap. Charming but powerful in its prestine cleanliness, imo clearly masculine but not overly so.

GrenadeGirl

I like this.. the opening blast is a truly gorgeous iced vodka kick that I don't think anyone has done better.. but that bit just doesn't last, and I'm actually gutted, because it is truly spectacular!

Drying down, it hits a perfectly decent herbal but it is just not stand out. The oakmoss definitely drags it to the masculine side, and I'm no girly girl but I couldn't carry this one off.

Worth a sample for that opening, regardless!

Onenutwarrior

anyone have kismet moscow? how does it compare to this?

tom.dickinson98

I'm confused. Kilian gave us Black Phantom, Back to Black, and Dark Lord, and also this.. straight adidas shower gel

booneht

I can see why people compare this to Percival.

The first several seconds, after you spray it, the silage of it reminds of Percival. It is simply a scent recall that is triggered in your head, but having the two next to each other, will convince you they're nothing alike.

This is not a Percival clone, not even a flanker, this is its very own fragrance and very quickly, read it as within minutes, after spraying it there is nothing Percival-like left in it.

I find the name very suiting for it. It kinda reminds me of having an open bottle of vodka in a club. All your friends have their glasses full of vodka on ice and you're catching whiffs of it, mixed with someone's fresh fragrance. This is the exact feeling this one evokes in me.

Fresh, very safe, slightly masculine, but completely possible to be considered unisex. Slightly green and boozy, as in a good glass of very cold vodka.

Does this deserve its price? I don't know.

But if you're looking for a good allrounder, safe for pretty much every occasion and time - this is a good one to look at. It also pops up in discounters quite often.

Lukasssss

I own Percival and this is not even close. It reminds me more of CK One but watered down. It is a soft, subtle, floral, refreshing, ozonic unisex fragrance. Kinda has a cooling effect and I understand where the name derives from. It is pleasant, but I’m pretty disappointed. Very boring, minimal, and expensive. 4/10.

victoriarh

I got a sample of this after only looking at the notes and not checking any reviews, which was a big mistake for me personally because I hadn’t realized how masculine this leans. To me this barely qualifies as a unisex scent, though I’m sure people might disagree with me. I think it might be the oakmoss that pulls it into more of a classic “cologne” type of scent, but other than that it is nice, very herbaceous and fresh. Ended up pawning the sample off on my brother and I think he's liking it though!

Dimmuburger

I own this in addition to Legend EDT and Percival. I do not get the comparisons whatsoever. They all have citrus in them and that's where the similarities end. This scent is amazingly fresh, and emulates the vodka note very nicely. I'm not a fresh or citrus fan; I gravitate toward heavy, warm winter fragrances. Which is why I was shocked that I liked this so much that I bit the bullet and bought a hundred ml bottle. Got it for $170, which in hindsight maybe I have some regret for spending so much, but I do very much enjoy it.

Bhavnalovesscents

This is so cool. If you close your eyes and smell this, you will feel you are at a club partying. The scent is aromatic and very well blended. Its like a lovely cocktail. A very unique scent and lasts too 😀🖤

TheWoodman

I was lucky enough to get the Moscow edition from the opening day of this frag and I got 2 bottles. It is expensive but I still haven’t found anything else that I’d like it. BTW there is a difference and make sure you spray on moisturised skin and on your clothes. Love this on hot weather

Mauricemoeski

This is a vodka cocktail! You definitely get the "cooled by ice" feeling from this fragrance. This is not a beast of a fragrance. In fact it turns into a skin scent rather quickly.
Quick story. I bought this from Saks from.a recommendation from my favorite sales woman. I lived it in the store. Once I got it home and started to wear it, I hated it. I hated it because I couldn't smell it unless I put my nose on my skin. Fast forward weeks later and I've blown through the juice. I have maybe FIVE PERCENT of the juice left. Remember I said I couldn't smell it? Spraying it like crazy. Anyway, doing laundry and a smell a woody, floral, citrusy, tonic smell JUMPING OFF OF MY DIRTY SHIRT! At that moment I realized Vodka on the Rocks has an INSANE silage if I spray it on my clothes.

Unfortunately, I realized that too late, but this fragrance performed really well for me once I started to give a spray to my fabrics as well as my skin.

MeguminLikesExplosives

It smells exactly like meteore from louis vuitton for me

slammers

I read a lot of reviews comparing this to A&F Fierce - something I'm not familiar with - and maybe it's just a different generation getting their nose on this now but this fragrance is without question a clone of Davidoff - Good Life (1998). It's funny how the classics make their reappearances in waves. Edit: I see that Fierce came out in 2002 so it's older than I thought. I'd be curious to compare these two. Not that this is my signature scent bubble these days, by any means, but I did rock the hell out of this bottle 25 years ago. Rhubarb? Yeah, it works, but it's linear. I thought this was pretty unique and enjoyable when I first got my nose on it. Still is and it's probably one of the best designers I ever owned from that era, along with Clinique - Happy and Davidoff - Cool Water. My wife always loved it on me.

Parfumadict.

Highly forgettable. I did get the alcoholic vodka note.
The fragrance has a very flat performance and it becomes a skin scent after one hour. Luckily i only got a sample with the purchase of Apple Brandy On The Rocks.

itstmb

This is by no means a bad fragrance, It smells great - but it's not unique or complex enough to justify even half the price. It smells like a very typical designer perfume that would sell for under 100USD for 100ml. if you like this smell try Fierce by Abercrombie.

Aventus clone #6738

I loved this when I first tried it, it really captured a cool "on Ice" feel whilst also having a boozy vodka/gin and tonic touch. However upon testing it further on skin, it became a chemical smelling mess. I just couldn't stand it which was surprising. Considering its high price, you'd likely be better off opting for a more natural smelling citrus fragrance, or something similar to this but much more likeable such as percival.

Mr. nose it all

It is the best smelling in the genre. Fierce is more immature and synthetic (still great obviously), Mont blanc legend is closer but waxy and has a problem with the notes meshing and going flat or bland (like crushing a fragrance by smearing it in, also both have a unpleasant musk in the dry down etc…. Percival is almost there.. but like most marley frags, the notes feel confused and not so compatible. VOTR has none of those problems as the notes pop out individually throughout the wear and is higher quality with additional noticeable notes that are superior than the others hints niche but not daring so it is still easily pleasing. Longevity is better than the others (has a tendency to disappear to your own nose most likely from sniffing and possibly iso e super or ambroxan but then again i can smell it after a shower) I also found this to be better in cooler weather like someone else had mentioned.. although its characterized to best suit warmer weather .. I found this to be true with many fragrances.. like issey myake which is entirely better in the cold winter or snowing.. same with burberry touch etc.
Lastly, yes it is overpriced like many others but if you want the best of the genre then so be it especially when vintage fierce and perceval is expensive as well.. my 2 cents. If you want a cheap version of this for the gym or what have you, Azzaro Sport, to me, is better than all of the others mentioned as well as the most similar to KVOTR and cheaper than all.

Aizen1987

Ambroxan stink.
It smell like any other ambroxan stuff. I don't know why people like ambrox, for me it stinks.
Once it gives out ambroxan stink, my nose goes numb and will not detect any other fragrance.

Rational human beings don’t deservedly wish homelessness on others.

Ridiculously short-sighted comment. Grow up.

alvinzm

Don't get me wrong, Kilian's Vodka on the Rocks is a great fragrance.

But for the price and how similar it is to some other fragrances (Parfums de Marly Percival, Tiziana Terenzi Foconero, Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, and even Montblanc Legend), I'd rather get one of those four (especially Foconero or Percival).

Vodka on the Rocks is boozy, unlike those four. I love boozy fragrances and if I'm confused between choosing several fragrances that are similar, I usually choose the one that is the most boozy (or more unique and darker). But, it is just not worth the high asking price for that type of scent to me.

The first time I tried it, it was an instant love. But then, the similarity hits me. And that's exactly why I decided not to get it.

Sorry_babyx

The only reason i want to have a bf is to force him to wear this so i can catch whiffs. Just, amazing work by Kilian, yet again.

Gemsense

This smells it’s best in heat. 82degrees F. Then it’s a wet crisp rose scent. Not so bad now as it was in colder weather.

evertonnick3

This scent is so nice. So so nice. I got a decant and I think I’ll drop the 250 or so for the full bottle because it is such a great scent. I can’t really pick any comparison to this so it has a unique factor to it. I’m not a huge fan of the opening, but from 5 minutes after spraying it until the dry down this stuff is GREAT! 9.5/10

justtwan

This is one fragrance that deserves all the hate that it's getting. From the minute I sprayed it on I instantly said "Hey! this doesn't smell niche and smells like a cheap designer brand fragrance". After 5 minutes I get the Fierce resemblance but not as attractive as Fierce. After an hour it began to turn into a jumbled up mess. I'm so glad that I didn't spend any $ on this sample. Slow down Kilian! Your making too many frags way too fast.

Rconectn

Short and simple...did not like this, The initial spray was off putting, could it be the aldehydes?? The first 10 mins of this fragrance smelled liked potters clay to me instead of vodka on the rocks. The dry down was off putting also. I think it was the rhubarb combined with the ambroxan, I was expecting something fresh and effervescent but that never happened. That's the beauty of fragrances one mans dislike is another man's love.

Ferra_Verto

Aromatic and lightly spicy vodka soda/gin and tonic with a beautifully sparkling aldehydic presence, really get that 'frosty air off a cocktail ice-cube effect'.
Perfect for warm or hot weather, cool and refreshing.
Similar to Percival, but that one reads much woodier to my nose, more 'cold mountain air over the face' than icy spirits in the summer.
It's been 5 hours and it's still going strong in terms of scent, with a nice arms' length projection.
Quite expensive though, definitely sample if you intend on purchasing, or, seek a dupe you're more comfortable spending on.

Clauder13

This is really good.
I get an icy fresh vodka smell from start to finish.
Blended really well and it does smell like you just cracked a cold bottle of vodka on the rocks at the beach.
I honestly don't see the similarities to fierce, percival and legend, in my opinion this is really unique and different, yes it is fresh and masculine leaning, but it does something that none of the others do.
This is a great signature scent.
Love it.

dantek121

I've had fierce and percival. When I smelled this, that DNA did not come to mind. The opening is not similar at all to me. It is a fresh, herbal/botanical smell to me. I didn't enjoy the opening much to be honest. The drydown is somewhat similar to the fierce DNA but even then if it were never mentioned I wouldn't have thought of it. I'd say its a decent fragrance but its not one of the best Kilian's or worth the going rate.

Docplaya

Yeah, this does have a cocktail vibe, especially in the opening. A good mix of coriander and aldehydes are likely responsible for that “vodka” accord. This fragrance leans very masculine and radiates off my skin. People make the valid comparison to Percival, but by no means are they dupes of each other. To me, Vodka on the Rocks is less woody and less smooth than Percival. However, it’s those sharp aldehydic edges that make it sparkle.

sgd11

The hate this fragrance gets is very unwarranted. It's just people jumping on the bandwagon for no real reason. With that being said this is a great fragrance that smells exactly the way Kilian represents it. Cold, boozy and fresh. Doesn't smell like Percival or Fierce, but it is in the same family. GREAT stuff.

mwtx

I know this fragrance gets a bit of hate, but personally I love it. It does have a fierce vibe, for sure, but something about it is just more clean.

It has moderate performance about 3-6 hours I still get whiffs here and there. For the price some might expect more, but I like the dna so much I’m willing to pay it.

I don’t always layer this fragrance, because I’m not a big fan of layering in general, but I’ve found it layers great with citrusy fragrances. Vodka on the Rocks + a few sprays of Aventus Cologne in particular is amazing and has drawn some compliments for me and I live in a small town where compliments aren’t just flowing in left and right.

I think it’s pretty damn versatile, I could see it working in any season, probably not the best pick for a snowy day, but other than that I don’t see why not.

royalmagic

I have kept myself away from this fragrance due to low rating that this frag gets especially from fragrantica users. One day i decided to check this out in store and I was amazed. fucking
great scent, opening is just "ohh my god" for me. Huge downside is that this frag lasts maybe 2 hours max. Wear this if you go out to see a movie or for a poker night. People around you will notice you. I own pdm percival and thouse two are completly diffrent scents. Worth the money ? if you find a bottle below 180euros then green light imo!

desousaint

Beautiful summer fragrance, I'd wear this on sunny summer day going out with friends and have a few cocktails by the beach.

MademoiselleMaya

I would say Baccardi with lime on ice cubes. Possibly with a small dose of tonic.
What a lovely idea of a drink turned into a high class fragrance.
It's radiating nicely, I cannot really discern any particular ingredient.
It is slightly bitter like broken lime skin when its oily substance is released.
It is softened by unidentified sweet aspects. Rose, rhubarb, coriander, cardamon? Might be. They are well blended and highligh the composition.
A tinge of strong alcohol-like aroma, but I would say Baccardi White rather than vodka.
It's slightly fizzy.
Warm and cold at the same time.
Super cool.

Mariyamokshina

I would say more like Vodka tonic . And if anyone would say , why would I want to shell like vodka? Well it’s has all the best qualities of it minus the alchohol , it’s refreshing and crisp . Fresh air, cardamom , and a mint of citrus. It reminds me of one of my favorites Moscow mule by Juliette has gun, but I don’t like this one as much . this one is lacking a bit more ambroxan pizzazz and a hint more of sweetness . I would wear it actually .

Hendoob

I assume alot of the people viewing this are coming out of the GQ deal. So let me break this down. Do I get vodka? No. Do I get “on the rocks”? Surprisingly, yes.

If I had to describe this scent, it would be, green foliage with cold morning dew dripping off of it. It leans masculine but you could argue for it to be unisex, and all around, its a “nice scent” nothing out of this world, and sort of disappointing coming from a house as notorious as Kilian.

This is not to say that it is a bad scent, but what leads me to say these things is the fact that the dry down smells very very similar to AF Fierce. It begins to lose the green scent and sort of becomes a generic masculine scent that I would NOT pay full retail on. I have a full bottle, but this came from me originally intending to purchase the GQ box with or without the deal.

I sampled this fragrance several months ago when Kilian was running a promotion, and was very disappointed just because I was comparing it to other delicious and unique scents that Kilian makes.

Put the comparisons aside and this is still a very nice scent that can make anyone smell better.

Where would I wear it? Anywhere. Maybe warmer weather, I can see it being pretty weak in the cold, but theres nothing to complain about this scent.

Shasta Dawn

This smells soooo sexy on my partner’s skin. I couldn’t pull it off but it’s gorgeous and aromatic and mysterious on her. I suppose you need the right chemistry for this one, but when it’s there, this is just incredible.

Arsenal Till I Die

Such a boring fragrance. If you didn’t know the name or the company you’d think it was a designer fragrance. If you’re also looking for a fierce alternative then IMO this isn’t a good one or a decent smelling one either. Percival kills this in every single possible way! borderline smells like a toilet spray. massive let down considering their pricing as well.

likesleet

green, but not as in grass. it's more pastel and i do get the oakmoss. airy & sweet cardamom

Exxon

In the first half an hour it smells great, but then it is 1:1 A&F Fierce to my nose. Sad story.

Aland2020

I rated this as a like because I do enjoy the smell but I’m stunned that this is a Kilian. You could spray this in the room and tell me it was axe body spray and I wouldn’t question it. On skin it smells how I can only describe as generic, cheap men’s cologne, but then again there are so many men’s (and women’s fragrances) that are affordable and don’t leave this impression. I’m getting generic, somewhat synthetic, a fragrance that didn’t need to be released and certainly didn’t need to be sold as a luxury fragrance for hundreds of dollars. I own and love several releases from the Kilian house, and this one is quite disappointing. I’d expect this to come from Creed but then again I actually like and appreciate the quality of most Creeds I try. This is just next level price gouging and over-saturated marketing swill.

Smells better than actual vodka as well which I’m sure you already knew because no one wants to pay perfume money to walk around smelling like literal booze when you could dab the real thing on for a fraction. Or just go get drunk with that $. Which is what I’m assuming the team behind this fragrance did. They drunk up all the money that was meant to be spent creating a quality fragrance and realized with $5 left in the bank they had to create something. So they bought a cheap liquor mini bottle off the .99 cent rack, a bar of men’s soap (had to be Zest, Dial or, Irish Spring- not even Dove or Old Spice would’ve put their stamp of approval on this) and a knock off aerosol can of Axe found at the local Dollorama and worked their magic.

stalal

Very likeable coconuty sandalwood. This will be my summer staple this year I can foresee it. There is some depth in it. It doesn’t come across as hollow summery scent. I associate that depth with Gourmand fragrances, this though isn’t gourmand but is definitely a freshie by Kilian!

GwenH

I adore this fragrance on my partner because it feels like his personality in a bottle.
It's playful, flirty, quietly confident and easy going.

Vodka on the Rocks was put up against some killer summer freshies like Torino21 and Elysium Pour Homme and, although those were great contenders, Vodka won FB purchase solely because it smelt the most like him vibe wise.

I'm not a massive fan of Kilian in general. This is the first Kilian frag I've smelt that I am obsessed with (and I've smelt a fair few) and to me its very masculine, youthful and sexy. I can definitely see this being worn during a night out in hotter weather and this would definitely make a great and memorable impression at a party.

Please try this if you are in the market for a fun take on a fresh fragrance that gives off the air of a charmingly laid back individual.

Branislaws

I wasn't impressed wearing it for the first three times. It was a summer and I thought this perfume loves the summer. One day, it happened that I wore this perfume for the fourth time, the temperature went down and wind started to blow. I was walking outside and Vodka on the Rocks started projecting with transformed scent of magic. Ever since then, I wait for the autumn to start wearing it.

Thesmallestaromaticfeline

Vodka on the rocks. I wanted to like this so much, but I can’t.

First of all, the opening is gorgeous. I love it. It’s cold, bright, metallic, fresh and a little bit green. It reminds me a little bit of Platinum Egoiste by Chanel.

I let it dry a little bit on my skin, and after 10 minutes I smelled it again. It’s still good, but the beautiful opening is gone.

After an hour I smelled my wrist again. Wow.. I didn’t see this coming… Now it smells exactly like a spray on deodorant. Big big disappointment.

Ilikewhatilike

I like this! Feels like a perfect all-rounder freshy scent and I plan to buy it one-day.

I'm not a fan of aquatics and already have a couple nice citrusy frags so I was looking for something different, and for me this is it. They aimed to replicate the sensation of ice melting in a vodka, and I felt that the the cardamon gave that coolness.

I wore it in high heat and it performed fantastically. I get some saltiness and aldehydes, but neither was overpowering. In the mid was great and I experienced something that I can only describe as 'playboy florals' ... wasnt feminine, but sexual swager. I also had fantastic performance. FB worthy for me.

funeralparty

Wore this for my 21st birthday and obviously I don’t remember anything except that it smelled like laundry detergent. In a good way though. The ambroxan def reminds me of Juliette has a gun Not a Perfume, but I think the extra green and fruity notes just give it more dimension. I like it.

nutsiko

I am obsessed with this perfume.

Zethre

Smells like a cross between vodka and lemon, and lemon cleaning fluid.

Rjdee

Sprayed 2 sprays today when it was 95 degrees. Really shines in this kind of weather. Non aquatic freshy. A true crowd pleaser. Compliments when I was on the street

likesleet

fresh & airy. the alcoholic smell isn’t too much.

Chesco

A guy's opinion:

Ylang Ylang floral + Bergamot citrus + Ginger + White Florals (Lily-of-the-Valley?) + Aldehydes + peppery Coriander + Vodka Vapor + Green Leaf + touch of fruit sweetness with a citrus acid sour note + smallest touch of powder

Shocked, doesn't smell like alcohol to me, but has a note of a light vodka VAPOUR, the scent when you smell the air out of your glass. It smells designer, a freshie, a bit sporty with feminine white florals, aromatic.
Smells like something I've smelt before in the past. It drys down to a soft dna. I find it kinda boring & forgetable tbh, but it's still a nice fragrance.
Little performance what so every, making this a complete waste of money.
Leans very feminine.
Personally does nothing for me. Meh.

Fresh, spicy, aromatic. Nothing to write home about. I'd wear this on the same occasions that I would wear something like L'Insoumis from Lalique. Spray and forget type of occasions. It's a bit overpriced for what it is.

twiztidladii

I received a sample of this so I tried it on a tester strip. Before that, I was thinking that I’d hate it because I assumed it was very boozy. I was wrong. I actually would quite like this on a man I’m dating. It actually is slightly nostalgic for me. Reminds me of some old cologne I remember smelling more than once in the 90’s. My first thought was Hugo Boss but I don’t think that’s correct. My son doesn’t have Hugo OG for me to compare.

Khaba

I haven't smell A&F Fierce, but smelled Percival, for me Percival is heavier and has more body than, and it has only slight similarity with VOTR, until when I'm drinking a fruit smoothie frappe in my office (air-conditioned), I suddenly smell VOTR because it's cool on the nose, then I realized that I'm wearing Percival that day, so lighter Percival with cooling ice sensation on the nose = VOTR. VOTR is aromatic and transparent floral aldehydes and with cooling effect on the nose. It has the vibe of on hot sunny afternoon or morning, then a passing chilly heavy wind that you can smell on the air and you know that a heavy rain is coming, a bright sunny day on one side but also a dark heavy cloud is looming on the other side of horizon coming at you. I actually got confused when driving from one site to another one early hot after, A/C is not working and all windows are down and letting that island seaside breeze in the car, as that wind pass to my arm then to my nose, it feels cool and chilly, I was looking at horizon because it feels like heavy rain is coming, but no rain in that afternoon or the next day. That scent brings me back to a memory lane because I like the smell of heavy air on a hot day because it really cools down the area.

The Wolf

This is an interesting one and I personally don't think it smells like anything else on the market. To me, good Vodka is 2 things. It's smooth and it doesn't taste like Vodka 😄
I think the perfumer here did a good job coming up with something that really does give the feeling of high quality Vodka without rubbing alcohol smells and what I normally associate with Vodka.

This is jarring and astringent like Vodka, but I feel like I can smell and understand the nuances of it. The aldehydes, coriander, and cardamom open up my sinuses like the real thing. I don't get much rose but I do get the ambroxan and moss in the base. I think the "smells like" section reflects that ambroxan we're all so accustomed to as a fixative. This is great for scorching hot days like we have here in Texas and this fragrance has grown on me. I think it's overpriced for what it is, but the perfumery expertise in creating this one is admirable because I can't imagine this was an easy task. I wish they would have only used oakmoss instead of ambroxan but IFRA has to be appeased unfortunately.

TLDR: I like the opening and mid but too much ambroxan on the drydown.

Scent 5.5/10
Performance 7/10

ShowMustGoOn

Not bad but you can get a $20 cologne that smells like this. Just visit TJMaxx or a mall clothing store. A&F vibes for sure. A hard pass for what they ask for this which is $$$.

Mitchsmellsreallygood

This is a very nice casual fragrance that feels slightly boozy without being sweet.
I have a full unused 50 ML bottle for sale if anyone is interested message me here!

emad.siddiqui

Gives you Vodka feels without even having any boozy note. Hats off to Kilian. And yeah it does give you a A&F Fierce-y vibe.

Nocciola23

I actually thought this was a dead ringer for Acqua di Gio - Armani. In any case, it's nice but way overpriced.

croppedhoodie

I let me friend smell this and the first words out of her mouth were “oh my god, Abercrombie!” and I’m inclined to agree! It really does smell like the old Abercrombie stores with the dim lighting and what not. A lot smoother and more complex, especially in the dry down. This would be a safe all-rounder scent for any man in my opinion! Work, date, gym, etc. It isn’t anything groundbreaking but not everyone wants to wear a challenging/polarizing scent every day either.

Rjdee

Please don’t say this doesn’t smell like real vodka because vodka has no scent. I just purchased this fragrance for myself, with full knowledge of all the criticism. But the mix of the coriander with the aldehydes, leading into the playboy florals, followed by the ambroxan is really addictive. This scent smells cooling, like the feeling when your pour vodka onto ice. Hence the name....I get the whole designer for a niche price argument, as it does have a synthetic undertone to it. But designers are never made this carefully and with this sort of craftsmanship. Girls LOVE this scent on me. It may be my most complimented, which kinda hurts lol. The comparison to A and F Fierce is very vague. Many niche fragrances have the same scent structure as cheap designers. But what you really want to pay attention to is the craftsmanship of this frag, how delicately the aldehydes bring you into the ambroxan and really produces a playboy vibe.

Marina S

It's a lovely, light, refreshing scent with a hint of rose. It doesn't smell like real vodka, but it has this refreshing freezing feeling of an iced glass of it. It's very cold, with no sweetness, but still pretty basic and stays on for 3-4 hours max.

rezof

a cheap smelling fragrance, to me this smells just like light blue & allure homme, absolutely nothing special.
no idea how much it costs but knowing by kilian it most certainly it will be not worth it..

RogerJr17

I'm no stranger to By Kilian scents. I own Straight to Heaven and Back to Black. I had browsed YouTube to see which scents were gaining popularity (this was back in late January) and, to my surprise, we had some By Kilians mentioned. Black Phantom and Dark Lord were the two that I noticed were discussed the most so I went to Luckyscent and added those two to my cart. Right as I was about to check out, I caught a video with Kilian Hennessy in which he also discussed Vodka on the Rocks. Hearing his description of what they tried to accomplish with this scent, I added that sample to my cart as well. I tried all 3 samples and the one that really grabbed my attention the most, obviously, was Vodka on the Rocks. I emptied the sample in no time and had a full bottle within a couple of weeks. Here are my testing notes:

Scent: They definitely went for a type of vibe with this one. The note breakdown on Fragrantica threw me for a loop. I was getting a smell that's not on the note breakdown AT ALL - Eucalyptus. Several people that I worked with were big fans of Bath & Body products and the minute I wore this fragrance, I was reminded of the Eucalyptus & Mint scent from B&B. The aldehydes definitely came through immediately (think Chanel Allure Homme Sport but more refined) but this scent, to me, is all about the florals and woods. I really like the scent personally although it is very linear on me. If I had to rank the scents versus the By Kilian fragrances in my current possession, I would rank Straight to Heaven #1 and Vodka on the Rocks #2. I've read where people are getting Fierce out of this? I could see maybe the "air" of Fierce but not the fragrance, in my opinion.
Rating: 8/10

Projection: Not excellent, not the worst. Every time I've worn it, it's been 3 hours of projection with the remaining 3-6 hours being a skin scent. I wore it on a date and the girl I was with noticed it within 6 feet. "I can definitely tell you're wearing something" were her exact words. It definitely got me noticed. That night when I got home, I was changing clothes and I could still smell it on my t-shirt faintly. It lasts on clothes but does come off after washing. As I said at the starting of this section, the projection was 3 hours of GOOD projection. This fragrance is not cheap (I'll cover that in the next section) so I expected the performance to match. A little disappointed.
Rating: 6/10

Price: $240 for 50 mL ($4.80 per mL). This is a bit on the steeper side to be honest. That being said, if you have a travel atomizer, you can buy the 50 mL refill for $190 ($3.80) which is cheaper. Regardless which route, you go, this is one of the rare instances where I say to weigh in on performance versus cost. In this case, for me, the performance did not outweigh the cost.
Rating: 5/10

Versatility: Strong marks on this one. I wore this casually (crazy, I know), for a date, class, and work. It worked in each and every scenario with no complaints. This being said, see the above Price section. For me, I can't justify wearing this fragrance whenever/wherever just because of the cost.
Rating: 9/10

Final Rating: 7/10. I'd say this is sample worthy. I think, creatively, they hit the mark. Still, with the price and what I come to expect of Kilian by now, I think it falls short of the mark in the performance category. I enjoy the scent and I'll wear it on special occasions where I know that I will only be out for 2-3 hours. Test it out, see if you like it.

jules097

I struggle finding summer scents that I like, I love this, this is perfect. I think it can definitely be worn all year round also, I definitely get the woodsy notes through out the day, but the initial spray is nice and fresh. I love the performance of Kilian fragrances, they truly last all day.

Aarongunarich17

I thoroughly enjoy this fragrance. I do not get the comparison between VOTR and Percival, or A&F Fierce. There is a spiciness in VOTR that makes this a great scent. VOTR smells the way Kilian Hennessy envisioned this scent, a cooling representation of vodka on the rocks. I recommend owners of VOTR to mix/layer the scent with Love, Don't be Shy. An extra and different freshness is added, while adding longevity to the fragrance.

Guccipordior

I was disappointed to find out that upon drying down this smells basically identical to A&F Fierce. I did not read the comparisons before hand. I was smelling it float off of my skin in the heat and I was like wait... I know this smell...

I don't like Fierce, simply because A&F filled malls with it for like my whole life. I've grown up with this scent and I can't stand it. My first Killian I sampled too. Ah well, it's not horrible, it just smells like Fierce so probably not worth the money

Kirkdonn

Like Smora, whose review is way down the page, this opens with a gin-ice vibe on me, then settles to a powdery lemon. No rhubarb here, and I'm feeling a little let down about that. Can't change my chemistry, so I'll have to come into acceptance. Unfortunately on me, this is a very linear fragrance that disappears after about an hour. I'm enjoying my sample, but that will be it. On to the Byredo test packs.

Sunnydai

Smells like a peppery old school ivory soap. I like it, its clean smell . I dont get vodka vibes. I do like the coolness of the fragrance as well.
Very nice to wear to the beach or on a very hot day.

spumyland

Vodka? .. Bah., may be ...

This has almost all notes that I don't like but strangely I don't have to wash it off. I don't like short distance but it doesn't offend me either, so I'd say… pretty.
It is balanced and tidy albeit with a boring finish.

Basically a fragrance of rhubarb and coriander with clean aldehydes, citrus roses on a base of ambroxan and light oak moss. Spicy but fresh. Summer, unisex.
For me an excellent ally against mosquitoes.

BlueMoon

COME HERE OFTEN?

Hats off to Kilian for taking this notorious cocktail and creating an easy-to-wear (and enjoyable) novelty fragrance.

It's fresh. It's unique.

Sure, the Aldehydes are front and center. (So, if that note is not your thing - stay clear.)

But a nice addition to a summer fragrance wardrobe if you tire of citruses and light florals.

Sam654

Similar to PdM Perceival with the coriander coming out strong in the opening in Vodka on the Rocks. I do like VOTR but Perceival is a much better value unless you want the coriander blast.

Jewelpaq

I fully agree with the reviewer below on the fact that this is a designer fragrance with a niche label at a niche price. In my opinion there are many other fragrances far better in quality & smell, sold at a similar price. This does not even last very long. 2 to 3 hours max, then you need to reapply. It does start off with a blast of alcohol & then turns a little citrusy & fruity on my skin. There is many designers fragrances out there that are much better value for the money.

GiannisP

A designer in a niche price.. This reminds me a lot of A&F Fierce! It's nice, fresh and clean but 200eu for 50ml??? No way! There are other fragrances that are the the "niche" version of Fierce like Foconero or Percival but you can find deals on them on discounters and the per ml price is way better. For me there is no reason to spend that amount of money in a so reduntant scent. Hard pass...

_marcuscortes

This literally reminds me of bein in a hot tub in blue mountain sippin on vodka on the rocks. Its a super bright fresh fragrance that does get somewhat floral on the drydown. Spring and summer is the best time to wear this and longevity and projection is average. I think its overpriced but i love the scent so much that i dont care. Give it a try at the least.

machavelii

I like it not wow but it feels lika a going out scent and if You really want to get the best of it go for a mix first put Kilian - love dont be shy, then vodka on the rocks i have turned heads with that and people loves that mix on me. Try it :)

myers458

I love this fragrance, but I already own Percival by PDM (which is a much better deal in terms of price per ml). I don't want to say one or the other is a clone, but I do think that owning both would be redundant.

style1015

I totally agree with the review below me by @grumpypariah. The opening smells exactly like a vodka tonic but very quickly it dries into an ambroxan, aldehydic scent. It does smell similar to other ambroxan scents so it may be redundant (unless you're into ambroxan scents and would like a lot of them.) The aldehydes stay in there lifting the scent up and maintaining the lightness which leaves it as a solid spring/summer scent for day or night. It does really remind me of MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver or the dry down of Juliette Has a Gun's Not a Perfume (although again, this one is a bit more interesting with the brightening aldehydes and rhubarb.)

I'm glad I have a decant, but will not purchase a full bottle. I like ambroxan but I don't love it so it's not really worth it to me. It does last long though!

grumpypariah

On the opening I was immediately thinking “holy crud this really does smell like a vodka tonic”

On the dry down, the ambroxan immediately starts coming through. It is a great scent and I do enjoy it a lot, however the negative I’ll give to it is that IMHO it’s going to smell like a lot of other ambroxan frags in your collection. My mind immediately went to PDM Percival and even MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver. All great scents, but if you have one I don’t think you need the others

Scorpio836

My boyfriend wears this scent, and I LOVE it. It's perfect for a man in his 20's -- it's just different enough from all of the colognes out there that people will remember what you smell like. It has a light, citrusy scent, but it's grounded in enough of that cologne-y musk to make it a true 'male' scent. A woman can definitely wear it, though.

Csabesz

I had a sample, and as my first impression was not that good, so I thought that I will use the whole sample for once! 5 sprays on my neck, 5 more on my shirt, and 3 more onto my wrist. And guess what, on that particular early autumn day, when walking to a restaurant fully covered in Vodka on the Rocks, the magic happened. The freshness finally made its way. That little spiciness of the coriander, mixed with a gentle touch of flowery sidenote with a strong ambroxan base! I could not pick up any oakmoss note specifically, but the whole composition has a masculine affect. It may be the oakmoss, which gives the impression of masculinity, but it never takes the main role, so the scent overall can stay fresh and young, not the mature freshness (although I like the Quorum also, no offense). Consequences: don't be afraid to use this fragrance, worth it!
P.s. On my skin its pretty similar to Hugo Iced. At first, I thought it is the same. Now I think that they play in the same league, but the Kilian highly dominates over the Hugo. However, if you want a cheaper alternative (considering the Kilian's pricing), go with the Hugo.

Perfumelover15

An excellent masculine fragrance that practically would suit all men. Fresh, aromatic but also sexy and elegant. Even though it has a generic aroma at first, it is a high quality fragrance. If you like Bleu de Chanel, the chance you like this one is very high.

mare_crisium

Tried this in Tokyo, along with the rest of the line. Easily the most accessible, and while very pleasant, it's fairly designer. Reminds me of getting Tommy Freedom back in 2000. Good for nostalgia, but the price doesn't really justify feeling like I'm 20 again.

Edit: Sod it, I'm game for a bottle.

Balushi

A safe office friendly summery fragrance which feel quite generic IMO. The fragrance has a sparkling aldehydic opening followed by a green and soapy heart due to the rhubarb and lily of the valley combination supported by ambroxan which dominates the scent in the drydown.

Armen77

Smelled it for the first time at Saks today and my first impression was parfums de marly Percival. Clearly not the only person here that feels the same way.

robin1234

Wow.. the amount of hate against this perfume is amazing. Started testing it yesterday and found it very lovely scent. I'll try to call a spade a spade. To me, it's a brighter and more in your face version of PDM Percival with a slight boozy vibe. Fresh, energetic and quite masculine. Longevity and projection are quite impressive too. A good "everyday scent" alternative of Percival for people like me (warm and humid weather almost 365 days a year).
This is just my first impression and I will share more after testing it more.

*edit 11/09/20 - Been testing it for a couple more days and strangely the performance is not as good as what i initially thought. VOTR is more of a soft and delicate scent that needs you to engage deeply to detect and appreciate the nuances within. But in terms of the sillage, projection and even longevity, it is rather underwhelming given that you are paying niche pricing. 7.5/10 in my opinion.

hullhockey91

Ahhhh Vodka On The Rocks is finally here in my possession!

Upon first sniff of my sample a few weeks back, I was immediately reminded of A&F Fierce which is what I was expecting. It was a cleaner version, but still very-much-so a Fierce sibling. I wasn't taken back and I wasn't impressed, but of course I still like it. Who doesn't like the Fierce vibe?!

Fierce has that tried and proven, universally accepted DNA's. It's well known. People like it. Its one of the few fragrances that has clones all over the damn place. I can't tell you the number of frags I have tried and went, "oh my god, another Fierce fragrance!"

The fact of the matter is Vodka On The Rocks has that same genetic structure...BUT this is some high quality juice! As I mentioned above, there are endless fragrances that carry this DNA, but it seems like all of them lack quality and longevity. VOTR has the quality and it has the longevity. This is a beefy version.

I will say Percival is also a good version, but it's a little on the soft, floral side. Not as "in your face" as VOTR.

Anyways, long story short, I wasn't impressed upon first sniff, but after finishing my sample off, I wanted this stuff. It's such an easy dumb-reach fragrance when you're not sure what to wear. Honestly, it might be the easiest dumb-reach I have and it's always a pleasure to wear! I know people will like this one and it's always enlightening to catch a whiff of this classic masculine DNA.

Overall: This is nothing new, but it is a fantastic and possibly the best version of this fragrance I have ever come across.

leottarick

Beautiful Scent. I don't think it has generic notes. I got the vodka vibe. This is a fresh fragrance that can be used quietly at night. For any time of the day. it reminds me of Percival by Parfums de Marly ( Pretty similar) but its less sweet and Azzaro Night time.
Projection- soft
Longevity - moderate
Overall 8/10

Rated_mo

Man that coriander hits you hard!! I love its freezing cold feeling I rarely get that in fragrances (love it in ysl lhomme libre) it's a safe frag for office and everyday use away from the mainstream vibe but nothing special still.. I belive if it had a hint of citrus and black pepper it'd have been a 10/10

Doesn't change the fact that its good in very high heat above 35 c as it has near to 0% sweetness.. Won't annoy anybody

flufftastic

Love it. Fresh and aromatic. Smells just like Percival though.

RottigrlNYC

No no no, this one is just awful. What was Killian thinking. These Niche houses need to stop trying to make these weird concoctions that they try to pass off as “perfume “. This one is something of a mess, a nasty mess. Fist Killian I really hate. I highly recommend a sample first.

cua_alvin_ross

This one is very similar to foconero by tiziana terenzi. The only thing is this has more sharp notes in it thus projecting more. Foconero's Longevity on me is easy 10+hrs, this i cannot tell yet. But foconero is 3x cheaper. If you want a better projecting summer ambroxian smell votr is the way to go and if $ is not an issue.

msajoy

for the very first time I didn't like a Kilian fragrance. and im happy about it.one fragrance less to desire lol. i had high hopes for it knowing how vodka has no smell or rather just an alcohol smell, but i still wanted a cooling icy kind of fragrance that would be a rockstar. this is not anything that I wanted or expected. the fragrance smells of alcohol and sandalwood, and that is all I get. no where near intoxicated or single malt. hard pass. good longevity though. this is the beauty of fragrance game, some love some hate some pass some treasure. i get a CK2 vibe from this.

Ricks44

I bought this in 2018 after a few testing wearings.

It's notably more designer than Kilians other offerings. However, in this case it isn't a bad thing. The scent for me is reminiscent of Chanel fragrances. Perhaps it's the aldehydes in Vodka on the Rocks that reminds me of Chanel who are a house known for their heavy use of aldehydes.

Anyway - what I get from this is quite personal. The first time I tested this was 2017 and I was instantly reminded of childhood holidays to Greece with my family. Throughout my childhood my parents would book holidays to various Greek Islands. The main memory of these holidays was the captivating scent of herbaceous dry air at night - the rustic, dry landscape of islands like Crete is quite magical.

Now - as I grew older and began dating I carried on visiting Greece with a long term relationship I was in. I was madly in love with the girl I was with and we'd both enjoy getting dressed up in our best clothing, having drinks on the balcony and wondering into town for food under the pastel blue and lilac twilight sky. Back then before discovering a major obsession with craft ales, the drink of choice was Vodka and lemonade. In love, dressed up and sitting on a hotel balcony over looking the nearby village we would chat and laugh away.

Why do I mention this? Because Vodka on the Rocks reminds me of that specific experience and combined with my childhood fascination with the smell of the dry night air.

So for me, this fragrance is a love. I imagine others don't get as much from this as I do. In essence, it's a more aldehydic take on a modern aromatic fougere ala Legend, Fierce. However, it's like a combination of those scents combined with something like Chanel Allure Homme Sport/Versace Pour Homme.

Performance is interesting. When I spray this on I can smell it for about an hour and then it seems to stop projecting. However, it is still pumping away. I've got it in my hair at the moment and I sprayed it on 2 days ago and I can still smell it. So - for me, it's important to spray on fabric or clothing for the best results.

I pick up on aldehydes perhaps giving the impression of rose, neroli, lemon - herbal accents, ambroxan, perhaps the slightest flicker of jasmine, musk and maybe a subtle amber accord in the base.

It's a beautiful constructed fragrance and means a lot to me. I've nearly ran out of my 50ml bottle now and I will purchase a refill for my current bottle.

Originally the opening was my favourite part - which is quite an overload of all the notes and can be quite chaotic - however, after about 1-2 hours the drydown which still projects from clothing is the sweetest part for me.

9/10.

Fragranceluva4u

Vodka on the Rocks is nothing unique but at the same time is damn good to me. There’s a certain quality there that I like. I get a clean fresh citrusy vibe and it leans more masculine. I can totally see this being an everyday signature scent. As far as the Abercrombie Fierce smell, I don’t get that. Maybe I need to smell AF again🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

Žubrowka on the Rocks? (Sidonie Lancesseur, 2014)

Bottle Design: Carré Basset

Scentrack: Richard Cheese – Gin and Juice

Good vodka is odorless and devoid of any taste, thus in my opinion, creating a vodka-based fragrance is a challenging task. One has to recreate the essence of this East European drink without obvious ethanol smell that consumers rate as cheap. It seems, the perfumer solved this problem by introducing some spicy and herbal element to the composition. Vodka on the Rocks opens with the pale whiteness of aldehydes accompanied by some pepper, strong coriander and herbal cardamom. The initial blast tenders gradually to washed flowers accord, delicate by design yet strong in performance. This fresh, futuristic bouquet is paired to very nice rhubarb note. All the interplay notes morphs to gray base of Ambroxan and something similar to white musk, which gradually lose their intensity. Does Vodka on the Rocks remind me of real vodka? Yes, but just on one brand. Polish vodka Žubrowka, infused with bison grass, and very distinct herbal qualities, which was prohibited by the FDA until 2010 due to its coumarin content. Additionally, the herbal aspects of this composition reminds of several G&T-inspired fragrances. The performance of the composition is average (5-7 hours) with moderate sillage.
In conclusion, Vodka on the Rocks, is a solid recreation of vodka atmosphere. However, it lacks distinctiveness of the other By Kilian offerings. Personally, it is not my cup of tea, but one who wishes to wear a fresh herbal/alcohol combo could appreciate this fragrance even more. Still, the main question remains - is it proper to drink vodka with ice?

KSAmbient

It smells like a cheap summer shampoo you buy when you're on vacation... No one?
Didn't work for me. Expected more smooth and alluring scent, while to my nose is very fruity/bubble gum like.

SocialAssassin

Boring and extremely synthetic. Its "kind of" similar to Gentle Fluidity Silver but with a sharp bitter Rhubarb note whereas Silver has juniper. I'm not a fan of this one. A serious pass.

jamesvt007

Hilarious that people criticise this one. My most complimented Kilian fragrance. Smells similar to Fierce but it has been perfected. The performance is also better. Super versatile and a lady pleaser. 8.5/10 for me.

6opar

Kilian on a Creed territory. At least that’s what the beginning alludes to (’m thinking of GIT, Himalaya, MI). Fresh with a slight aquatic vibe. Then it expands the similarities to almost every second designer fragrance out there, just drowned in vodka. The first Kilian (I got 9 bottles and have tested a few more) that hits the bottom of my like-o-meter.

Everyone says this smells like Abercrombie and Fitch, I never smelled it so I cant tell, but if it is true it must smell good. This is really a good smelling masculine fragrance. If you are looking for a niche fragrance you will probably be the only one wearing this one. You have to wear it overnight to really appreciate it.

MrBolton

Yes, it smells somewhat generic (in a good way), but I think that's necessary in a collection--although this one could certainly stand on its own if you're looking for an "one and done" fragrance. Great for a date, a business meeting, the office, or trip to the mall. Year-round, too.

A lot of fragrance fanatics get caught up in their "niche nose," and they ultimately begin to like scents that the general public find displeasing. In this, they start downplaying a lot of crowdpleasers. I'd like to think that I'm in between the crowdpleaser and the hipster.

As that type of consumer, Vodka on the Rocks suits both personality types perfectly for me. It's got that kinda niche edge and quality to it--complexity as it dries down and has a slight evolvement where the woodiness becomes more present. However, it's still plain and fresh enough that you don't have to ever worry about someone saying you stink. That's perfect to me.

A "dealer" quit stocking the refills of this and marked them half off, so I bought two 50 mL refills. Started with one, liked it so much that I bought a second while it had a good price. Yes, you can buy the refills to fill generic atomizers. It's cheaper than buying the fancy bottle--although I will say that I also own the "real" bottles of By Kilian Intoxicated and Gold Knight. This one, however, is my favorite overall; the other two are definitely more "niche."

Does it smell like its competitors? I own Mont Blanc Legend. This is like massively upgraded version of it. Where MB Legend smells synthetic or harsh, this smells naturally smoother and so much deeper; the wood notes are more present, and the performance is better. However, MB Legend is a fraction of the cost, so if it's way out of your budget, then that's a great way to access this sort of scent for cheap. VTR has that extra "oomph" that's the next level of luxury. They're almost a little redundant, but the Kilian is far superior, especially noticeable when worn side-by-side.

If I ever run out, I may be willing to buy at full price, currently $295 bottle/$195 refill, both 50 mL. Notwithstanding, that's close to Creed Aventus pricing. In my opinion, that's the closest competitor for this type of scent at this price point known by me. If a lot men in your circle wear Aventus, get this and stand out and still smell great.

9.5/10 excellent fresh scent. 8/10 performance/longevity (lasted ~9+ hours today). 8.5/10 sillage (not going to knock someone out, but noticeable at about arm's length).

Bassamond

Previously I wasn't a fan of Kilian, i think because I smelled a perfume I didn't like,.

Later on I went to a boutique and tried all of Kilian perfumes even those the limited once. I was was really shocked how I didn't like it on the first place. Every perfume has a story, the notes were chosen very carefully.

For Vodca on the rocks, I fall in love with it directly, very fresh, does not have the alcoholic harsh smell but you you notice it on the opening of the perfume along with the coriander.

For people like me who prefer the woody leathery spicy scents, this is perfume might change you to a fresh perfume lover. :)

The perfume is very unisex, can be worn any time of the day and in any season.

Has very good projection and I can easily give it 4 of 5
The lasting is very good in the skin and last for full day so 5 of 5.

Marlon

Not worth a penny. Smelling intresting at first sniff, disappoints and turns very mainstream. Performance kills it.

SebWB

On my skin this had decent projection, Not really vodka more like a Creedesque think Imperial vibe. Its much more elegant and refined though! It is wet and dry at the same time and a massive compliment getter. A great perfume 9/10

Pretentious

Vodka on the Rocks is a caricature of it’s namesake rather than a faithful representation of the spirit’s undertones. To mitigate expectation: Instead of a lowball filled with vodka and ice swirling around, imagine an inflatable mini pool with clear plastic cubes floating in it. This isn’t a 1:1 inspiration rather an impressionistic rendering on neutrality.

ts4r

It is extremely sharp at the beginning. Settles into a scent you'll love with a niche vibe you can expect.

I enjoy it. Didn't expect this much Ambrox from Kilian.

Dries down with nuances of mixed drinks with bitters and a depth. Super pleasant.

Tazahr

An ok pleasant generic scent. The price tag for what it is simply a joke.

No vodka or anything unusual here. Semi sweet overpriced frechie.

larvikite

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE VIBES MAN

I don't smell alcohol, but I do get it, it has a vodka vibe, not an alcohol vibe, hence the name.

Gumbinator

Vodka On The Rocks, definitely interprets the name beautifully. There is that slight alcoholic vibe; sorta spicy, with a faint greenness. This Kilian is certainly a fresh scent. I also get the rhubarb note slightly.

Overall, not a bad release. I'd say decant worthy over bottle worthy. This to me, is like the long distant cousin of Creed's Green Irish Tweed. If GIT interprets the Irish countryside, then VOTR is a interpretation of a Canadian countryside. I'm talking BC countryside, with fields surrounded by sparse forests and mountains.

tayyabforyouth

On paper this smells like nothing I've ever smelled before and is a very alcoholic vodka-type scent. But on my skin this smells really similar to Halloween Man Shot. Both smell on my skin of an alcoholic drink with notes of cardamom, iris, and vanilla. I like how it smells but can't justify the price since Halloween Man Shot is perfectly acceptable in this genre for me.

4/5

lmwimsatt

This is definitely pour homme. Any woman who wears this likely usually wears men colognes. Anyways there are definitely some notes missing from the pyramid; some marine notes, herbs, and citruses. This is definitely very similar to Abercrombie fierce except it's more masculine. Fierce is more unisex and better smelling. I dont think vodka on the rocks here smells their like bad boys at all. Overall I love this on a man but not on me

Pollypolster1

Recently bought a little set of By Kilian samples on E-Bay and had been really enjoying all of them until I got to Vodka on The Rocks. I don't think it is really unisex and seemed quite masculine to me. I didn't like it at all and although I thought I was going to have to wash it off (yes, that bad!!) in the end I layered it with another one and all was well. I won't be hankering after this one. Still have my eye on Black Phantom.

17seyed

I can't believe I'm saying this. But the aldehydes are superstars in this.

Yes this smells very close to many other designer fragrances. It's fresh, clean, and citrusy. But what really ups the level of this compared to the others is a wonderfully executed aldehyde note. It creates a sparkling feeling to the fragrance that feels like little bubbles of fragrance popping on your skin when you smell it. Like a perfume caviar.

This and Amouage Reflection will be my go to perfumes for when I want to smell clean. Reflection is perfect with a bright suit and Vodka on the rocks for more casual settings.

Erok32

This smells nothing like vodka or any alcohol for that matter. It does slightly resemble fierce, platinum egoiste, bond I love ny for him, etc. in that it’s spicy, sweet, and fresh. I personally love the smell, and though it isn’t very unique, it’s well blended and high quality. Also, niche doesn’t have to smell different or unique. Performance is average to above average IMO.

Sean Raymond

Yes - this is rather generic smelling despite not being able to think of anything it actually smells like (I've not tried Fierce by Abercrombie). It's strange, this does smell more designer than niche but it is still quality juice and I love it. Massive compliment getter

I definitely get coriander in the opening (clones never quite capture this part of the scent) and a certain alcoholic vibe - I am reminded somewhat of CH 212 for men which I adore (another generic scent without being generic).

This isn't a unique scent as such but, well - it is very wearable, especially in summer, performance is decent and I just love it. In truth the price is far too high though.

jaaakeL

My everyday cologne. Beautiful, masculine, sophisticated, and complimented daily. Complete strangers stop me and ask what I am wearing. Cardamom and coriander grace the top notes, but the aldehyde gives a subtle twist of citrus. Contrary to what others have said, this scent does NOT smell like "an alcoholic" or "booze," and one can only assume that the power of persuasion (in the name of the fragrance) has caused this misunderstanding.

The lily of the valley, rhubarb, and rose are probably some of my favorite notes, but they never act independent of the base. Ambroxan and oakmoss tie everything together beautifully and help to create one of the best olfactory experiences I have ever smelled. When I say this is complemented every single day, that is not an understatement. Although I always appreciate compliments, I wear this scent because it truly is remarkable. It manages to evoke subtle masculinity while defying the heavy spice that seems to permeate the genre.

This scent is perfect for every day wear, which is why it is my signature scent. Suitable for all occasions, all seasons, and all times of day. Safe enough for the workplace, but bold enough to get noticed by everyone.

My only qualm is longevity, but that holds true for many of the products made by the House of Kilian. If an intense version were to come out, I would purchase it in a heartbeat. However, it is nice that they sell refills for a discounted price, as the entire line is built around reusing the original bottles and cases they come in. Refills, though, still run about $195 - so longevity could certainly be improved upon at that price range.

Overall Scent: 10/10 (The only 10/10 I have ever given to a scent)
Silage: 9/10 (others always smell it on me, but I am not as sensitive to it anymore)
Longevity: 8.5/10 (I can get around 4 hours out of it before having to spray more)
Adjectives: Crisp, sexy, confident, refined, well-made

errbin

this is a very nice fresh scent resembles nothing like the alcohol beverage that's it's named after (just sounds cool) not sure why some reviewers mentioned it smells like alcohol/liquor it's nothing of the sort

you get a nice aromatic spicy floral almost a MFK Aqua Universalis Forte realm clean fresh casual dressed occasions perfect for hot/warm days it's a lovely scent

215alive

Lasts for 20 minutes. Pure trash!

clross26

Not sure why people are saying this smells just like vodka or even had the resemblance. It had a citrus opening and then had a sweet dry down. I suppose it could of had no ones like grey goose because GG does have a nice smell to the alcohol, but it was an attractive scent to me. I enjoyed he nice opening and could see myself wearing thisnis the spring or summer. Aromatic and inviting.

Scent 9/10 for me.

★★★

For those familiar with Argentinian cuisine, chimichurri is what Vodka On The Rocks ended up smelling on my skin.

Chimichurri is an uncooked sauce constituting of garlic, oregano, red wine, parsley and vinegar. It is served with fine Argentinian grilled steaks.

Bottom line is, for the price, I was not expecting to smell like food. I understand the vision, but just not the appeal. There is an alcoholic aspect that may resemble vodka, but really, I can't understand how a bottle of this food smelling blend is priced and promoted as a luxurious offering while you can go and grab an Hermes fragrance, or Diptyque, both houses which offer luxury and quality for the fraction of the price.

Hey, I guess scent can be subjective, but I am aware that scientifically we all smell the same thing in the end.

I guess disappointment is the word.

spcmiller

I suspect if you want to walk around smelling like an alcoholic, this might be up your alley. "Eau de Barfly" may have been a more appropriate name. Even though I dislike the scent, I applaud the imagination behind it and acknowledge the fact that this in fact does smell like a vodka on the rocks initially, and then calms down to a more floral, citrus middle that's surprisingly nondescript.

irishkaren

I saw this bottle today in Nordstrom. I loved the name and made the mistake of spraying a test on my hand. I absolutely agree that this is a dead ringer for whatever cologne Abercrombie and Fitch douses all over their stores. There is nothing in this that I identify with a perfume or a scent that a woman would wear. I put one spritz from the bottle on my hand and I can still smell it 8 hours later, so it does have longevity going for it. If you want to smell like a guy and the A&F store, this one's for you.

Asclepius

I am literally shook that people are, to a certain extent, hating on this scent. I have owned many colognes and perfumes over the course of a decade (and have moved into botique scents over the past two years), and I must say that VOTR is by far the most complimented scent I have owned to date. Yes, it is a “safe, workplace friendly” scent, but where do you spend most of your time? Work! The other day I wore it in the physicians office and within a matter of 10 minutes, three separate medical assistants walked in and said “oh my god, it smells so manly and amazing in here...one of you must be wearing some sort of cologne that smells great!” The other docs looked at eachother and said “it’s not us...” and I piped up and said that it was me. The next day, one of them even complimented the scent again.

Anyway, I’ve never had longevity issues with this, and it is definitely a vibrant, everyday type of cologne. Good for all occasions and all seasons, which is why I wear it as my signature scent. Definitely expensive, but you can buy the refills online from any high end retailer and get a discount, or you can buy the large bottles for better value.

The top note is coriander, but the aldehyde gives it the crisp vodka smell. However, I would argue there is also a twist of lemon in there as well. The tops notes subside quickly and open up to a nice Lilly of the valley and rose scent. The base notes is where it is at though, as the mid notes compliment the sandalwood and Oak moss very well. It is refined and well put together, and you will certainly get compliments from strangers passing you by.

toorross

I mostly wear Clive Christian some Creed and Bond 9. I'm drawn to the higher end fragrances. But, I'm not a big fan of the Vodka on the Rocks by Lillian. On me its smell cheap and common. My sales person at Saks wears this as his everyday signature fragrance. Its smell good on others. Just don't overspray.

SirCharles

$300 for something that would remind most people of Montblanc/Abercrombie? Yeahno.

GrayJacques

Got a sample from HR today. Initial impression was nothing impressive, probably nothing I would invest money in. But as i caught wiffs of it from my hand I started to kind of enjoy its simplicity and mild nature. I think this was Kilians take on a light, fresh, clean work safe fragrance and I've come to actually enjoy it. Also, another thing to note, it's one of those fragrances that is actually evocative of the name. It's clear and almost effervescent like Vodka. Albeit the price is far to much for what it is, you would really have to pour it on to get any kind of effect.

Warmlisa18

A little too masculine for me. Went to Bergdoff Goodman and was given some samples after buying my Love. The gentleman assisting me told me that I was to cocktail it with Love so that it can have a better scent - in which it was way too overpowering for it . After he mixed the two, my poor little Love ran into the sunset never to be found again. I think this scent is way to strong to be cocktailed with any other scent of Kilian or any other perfume for that matter. Very bitter dry down. I wouldn't deem this a unisex fragrance. This is def a "MENS ONLY" fragrance. Reminds me a little of Abercrombie 8.

talkaboutscents

Way below expectations...Still a nice scent, very safe, clean, fresh but not up to par for a niche house. It opens up very similar to Burberry Weekend, in 10 minutes it leans toward Versace Dylan Blue and minutes later towards A&F Fierce (yeah! weird transition but it is easily noticed!).

And I get from opening to drydown, hints of classic Nivea hand cream's scent!

Overall, it's okay but definetely not okay considered its price tag.

DBF85

The most hyped up By Kilian perfume.

Fresh Citrusy with Faint Vanilla Scent.

Nothing New.
Nothing breathtaking.
Nothing Purchase Worthy.

joe.bond

I have several Kilian fragrances and I enjoy them all... I purchased VOTR this weekend after sniffing a tester.... a clean and inoffensive fragrance. Anyway after spraying some on to go out on a date it was gone in about an hour. What a waste of money and time... It’s not a bad scent and it’s not anything special either.... the top smells pretty good, but it’s gone so fast lol I’m shocked that it’s a Kilian fragrance.... I should have just went with Bond n9 Nights... Any I’m going to try and sell it to recoup some money to get something else.

brandonmont

One of my go to drinks is vodka on the rocks, so I would say I'm familiar with the smell and the opening of this fragrance is shockingly accurate. The sharp, sweetness of vodka is captured perfectly in the opening. It dries down to a fresh, still somewhat boozy beauty. I love to wear this one in the warmer months. I have the version that still says "Moscow" on the plate and the performance isn't terrible like some have suggested.

MarinaP.

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, hello.
I would agree with the issue of silage for the majority of wearers, indeed. The reason it is NOT like any other blob you buy at the markets are hinted in subtle details and are not recognized due to the lack of Expertise with the niche perfumery and perfumery in the general sense.
Russians, someone pointed out, do not have the variety of available choices of generics? Pardon me, mais c'est faux. Utter nonsense! I have been to Russia and I know that Russians, in particular Russians know their stuff in perfume choosing. Their perfume availability is much higher, as a matter of fact. And it is guitar irrational to conclude with such rushed judgement.
Vodka on the Rocks is very fresh. Dries down to less of the initial inclination to the masculine. If you like to blend try it with Chanel Chance Eau Vive for ladies. But i personally do recommend it.

a7_mad1991

I love the top notes on this
But the longevity is terrible
1 hour later I cannot smell it on my arm !!
At first I didnt realize it, but its an IDENTICAL TWIN of A&F ICON! Seriously, pop by an A&F store and prepare to be amazed by how similar they are!!!!

Birdboy48

Really quite nice stuff I thought….if only it lasted for more than 20 minutes.

Add the that the price…

One of those things where if you spray it on yourself before you leave the house, it's gone before you get where you're going.

Aside from those two big deal-breakers, otherwise nice, I thought

eddie.gallardo

Biggest waste of 330 US dollars... Last 20 min tops

Cherry_Darling

I really enjoy this, fresh and zingy, with a clear aquatic note I guess that is the vodka. Having said that it isn't super unique, but I guess not every perfume has to be. Totally wearable, would find it very becoming on a man.

black_orchid

Meh! Save your money.

nyse4

Coriander strong opening followed by a synthetic lemony scent. This is an ok fragrance that you can buy in your next Sephora in no case this smells like a niche perfume. Sillage is mediocre longevity is better than any other kilians. Save yourself the money this should cost no more thant what you would pay for a Paco Rabanne or Hugo Boss.

Scent: 6/10
Longevity: 7/10
Sillage: 6/10

djmonty

Wearing my second sample of this today on a fairly rainy day and I really like this one.The name says it all!!!!Extremely aromatic and fresh but woody too.Blended very well and the rhubarb adds a sweet tone to it,This is one of kilian's crown jewels when it comes to fresh scents but the price is too high though for me
even a decant or sample is astronomical!!!Only for older gentlemen in opinion.

alex1983

Smells very similar to Bond. No9 Montauk.

GustaveTheNose

I tried this some time ago and it was very fresh, and it delivers what it says on the tin, vodka and a slice of lemon.

I wrote another review about boozy perfumes and had no thumbs up so not expecting any here; but again who really wants to smell like they just had their eye opener before walking in to work, makes me wonder.

And the other thing, if I wanted to smell like that, can I just drizzle myself with some vodka and rub some lemon peel on me, wouldn't that be cheaper and closer to reality ? Sorry vodka on rocks, baraonda, etc... That's what I think of you

Aiant

Sometimes, after reading controversial or not so good comments about a perfume, I guess something that gives to talk should have something special ...
I am a rather rebellious girl with a little angel costume, well, not so young in her forties, and after many years collecting and discovering aromas, every time I read comments like here I see, I obsess until I can know the fragrance.
Of course, sometimes I am disappointed.
But as soon as I could buy this wonderful concoction, without being able to wait a second, I pulverized and booom! Magic.
It is indeed a scent reminiscent of alcoholic beverage, but for me, more specifically, rose grape muscatel and then a delicious "pisco sour" with pica lemon from the valley of Chile, which is where I live. Spring festival with wine and fruit punch with an airy touch of tree flowers. Maybe it is not as unique as fragrance and may remind other perfumes, but for me this is quality to another level. Average projection, ideal in warm weather, acceptable length of skin up to 6 hours, but much more in clothing. I would like more of this, you need applied two or three times in a day. Compliments Yes, from my little daughter, husband and even strangers on the street.
Note: Perhaps this potion is best worn on the female side, hopefully more women will leave their comments.

CB23

I'd never been a fan of the Kilian fragrances until trying this one today. It's nothing like Fierce or L'Humaniste, honestly it's misleading reviews like that which cause people to either lose money on a blind buy or avoid something which they think smells like another they may not like.

I suggest trying it for yourself if you're considering it, I liked it, and as soon as I can get my hands on a refill bottle I'll buy it

Lemon Lime

I just cannot see the big picture (if any) behind this.

Aquatic style, boozy fresh opening, recreating the smell of gin 'n' tonic with a pinch of freshly squeezed lime in it. A nice concept indeed, if it only lasted for more than 10 minutes.

In its second (very linear) phase, "Vodka on the Rocks", is basically a soapy clean citrus scent, retaining only faintly some of its initial acidic boozy vibe, coupled with a delicate mossy lemony after taste.

Nice & pleasant but considering the retail price of this, I'm baffled. Perhaps this creation is beyond me.

Puzzling.

6/10

Oudy

The fragrance world is inundated with this sort of scent. Fresh, Generic, Boring. When you first spray it, it has a cucumber cool vibrancy to it that sort of smells boozy and unique, but that quickly gives way to the lame Abercrombie store smell that is, to me, the bottom of the barrel in perfumery. At 300 a bottle it should also be criminal. Taste is subjective I suppose and I'm sure that many would like this. Definatly not for me though. Perhaps that's why it was exclusively released in Russia where maybe the market isn't as flooded with generic scents that all smell mostly the same....like vodka on the rocks.

Scent 4/10...different and unique for about 5 minutes. Then I can't tell the difference between it( other than the quality of ingredients) and a 12$ bottle of take your pick from TJ MAXX
Projection 5/10....seems middle of the road
Fortitude 6/10...3 to 4 hours I got
Full bottle worthy....for what you get and what it costs...Run down to a discount store and sniff the 15 dollar perfumes...you will prolly find almost the same thing at a 285$ discount.

seekritdude

I think if you like that gin and tonic vibe, or frags with a lot of oakmoss this is for you. We can think of something like the ever popular L'humaniste, or even the more recent l'homme ultime. If this is a vibe you enjoy than this is for you.

Its fresh, clean, bracing, invigorating if you will. But all the same its probably pretty "boring" for a lot of people as well since there are a lot of scents that give a similar feeling as this I think..

The difference with this of course will just be if somehow it happens to be JUST that exact mix that youre looking for rather than getting something cheaper like l'humaniste. Or of course if well you are have a higher disposable income and this appeals to the well the rich person/collector or whatever and you gotta catch em' all.

Other than that, its nice, and very wearable, just not particularly interesting again unless it just happens to be that exact mix youre looking for that makes it all click. As at the end of the day theres just so many other fragrances that are cheaper that can give you a similar vibe I think.

Performance is good for what it is

ConsumerThis

Smells like af fierce and curve. Cheap and linear. Pass. Unfortunate Bc I love this house and own many of the gems they have, just let down Bc this is an "exclusive". Pass. Single malt on the other hand.....to die for

landshark321

After wearing Single Malt yesterday, By Kilian's Vodka on the Rocks is uninspiring at best. Unoffensive, perhaps pleasant, it's mostly a light sour citrus. It opens a little brighter and fades to something more softly blended, but there's not much to say about it other that it's inconceivable that it would be worth the $295-for-50ml price.

6 out of 10

Nbond007

descent quality...its not that bad at all.....linear but pleasant...

sum888er

I can smell vodka on the opening. after that I smell citrus. the creation is interesting but it's too week. you can hardly smell it.

deadidol

I’m impressed by this — which is kind of a big deal as I usually give this line the side-eye. Creating the olfactory replica of vodka is impossible as it has no scent, but creating an olfactory image is a different matter. And I think that’s where this scent succeeds — it really does smell the way a vodka-centric drink would taste. If I sniffed this blind with no clue from the name, I would still have guessed it was trying to be an alcoholic drink of some kind, although I’d probably say it was gin.

This scent works by walking the line between something that smells like a relatively generic calone flanker and tonic water. There’s a genuine chill to it (aldehydes and clove, I assume) and it carries a faint herbal cleanliness that reminds of an extremely scaled back Dirty. It also reminds me a little bit of Nu_Be’s Oxygen, and I think that if I were to guess have a second choice in my blind sniff, I would have guessed that it was aiming for clean, industrial aesthetic. It’s a tad balsamic in the dry-down — which counters the crisp, clean opening, but it maintains its power for some time, and I assume the balsamic foundation is playing a role in that. All in-all, I’d describe it as a genuinely well-done take on a crappy calone flanker. Super clean, super invigorating, and really bracing. Like most Kilian’s, you’re paying for the tacky-ass box that it comes in rather than anything costly in the bottle itself. And for as solid as it it is, it’s really just a less noxious version of one of those Issey Miyake type things, so the pricing is a tad insane. But as a scent, it’s effective at what it does and it's more enjoyable that many recent releases from this line.

robg303

Kilian has some of the best packaging in the business, to be sure. I have a couple of his fragrances and am always eager to try what he comes up with.

Sadly, this scent is not available in the US market, but I happen to have a friend in the business who has access.

I wore this for New Years eve but was surrounded by drinks and too many scents to experince it fully.

Wearing it now for the third time I find it resembles very well, the vodka drink intended. (even though vodka has no real decernable scent)

But, it's cool, refreshing, linear and similar to a clean lemony alcoholic drink. It would likely be nice to wear in Summer at a your favorite bar, club or lounge, but be aware that it may not last more than a few hours, so re-apply if you want it to last through the party.

zda-ro-vye!

muzzbait

the booziness is certainly there, it's just a pity that it smells like something bulgari or even joop would put out. it's the token, generic 'fresh' smell that polo pumps out. quite disappointed in this offering. it smells quite good, and it is long-lasting, but goodness, it does NOT smell unique or special...

CaliDude

After reading some of the reviews, I didn't have high expectations for this fragrance. However, once I finally tried it, I was impressed and really liked it. It starts off with a blast of nice boozy citrus and sweetens up a bit in the dry down. I would say this fragrance is pretty linear.

I gave it a full wearing yesterday, and can tell you that the projection is strong for the first few hours, but then quickly turns into a skin scent. I really wish this lasted longer. It literally seemed like it lasted for only 4 hours. I'll have to give it more wearings to confirm my take on this scent's longevity.

Definitely worth sampling.

bronwen80

Heavy masculine citrus that is pure male. Evokes the sense of Ralph Lauren or Dolce and Gabbana style colognes. Not the greatest scent that Kilian has ever developed but still worth a try especially of you are a fan of citrus based colognes. If you are looking for boozy try Apple Brandy :)

rogson

Nothing to this one. A little alcohol smell and a little aromatic ending with maybe some oakmoss. Not strong and very reminiscent of cheap men's colognes. Not much evolution, longevity or sillage, which is a good thing because this one is not one I would like to have anyone smell on me. Smells very dated. Definitely not worth even the price of the sample I bought.

jeca

This is interesting ;o) My grandpa preferred vodka to all other drinks that 'smell' and 'taste' just because it was tasteless and smells only on pure alcohol. I am curious to try this one ;o)
