Bottega Veneta by Bottega Veneta is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Bottega Veneta was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Michel Almairac. Top notes are Pink Pepper and Bergamot; middle note is Jasmine; base notes are Leather, oak moss and Patchouli.

The fashion design house of luxury leather accessories Bottega Veneta launches its first fragrance in collaboration with Coty Prestige in 2011. Bottega Veneta fragrance is described as a leathery, floral chypre, representing the scented signature of the house—the "invisible, private luxury."

Tomas Maier, the creative director, describes the inspiration for this creation: “An old house in the beautiful countryside in the Veneto region of Italy with rolling green hills, where we’re from. I envisioned a room with old wood floors, library walls and leather-bound books with the windows open wide, the breeze coming in and cut grass, hay, moss, garden flowers, growing through the room and everything mixing up. That’s where we started.”—wwd

The nose of the composition is Michel Almairac from Robertet who blended notes of Italian bergamot, Brazilian pink pepper, Indian Sambac jasmine, oak moss, patchouli and Indian patchouli, with a distinct leather accord in the trail.

The face of the campaign is Nine d'Urso, the daughter of French fashion icon Inès de la Fressange and Italian art dealer Luigi d'Urso. The campaign was shot Bruce Weber in South Florida.

The perfume bottle is made of Murano glass (limited edition), decorated with a metal cap and a leather bow. The perfume extract, which comes in the Murano bottle, is available in limited numbers at Bottega Veneta boutiques around the world at the price of $395. The fragrance is available as 50 and 70 ml EDP with body cream, body lotion and shower gel for more broadly distribution.

I have this one and Knot, and for me Knot is a better option. BV original is too powdery for me.

Ultraben10

First sniff brought original obsession to mind. The men’s shaving cream nuance killed it for me. The creamy, soft part of this scent is overshadowed by this shaving cream smell.

I’m writing a second review of this one just because I’ve been wearing it consistently for a while, and it has opened up to me further, in that time. It really is That B*tch. Austere. Powerful. Has a fullness and plushness under the dry, astringent opening that needs time to unlock, and it sticks around all day. Very different on skin and paper, beautiful oakmoss and patchouli that do not cause a migraine for me, where they often do. It’s not hot, and it isn’t cold either, it takes on different aspects depending on the weather, showing more of its leather in the winter and its herbal notes in the summer.

There are some negative reviews, and it definitely isn’t for everyone. I get it. It is not suited for more decadent modern tastes, that are focused on vanilla and caramel and warm spices and foody scents or clean fruity and transparent scents as the pinnacle of femininity. This is sharp edges, it’s a death glare, a black leather jacket, it’s Linda Evangelista in her prime, it’s not soft, virginal, or made to make you feel small, edible and delicate. You’re the one doing the eating when you wear something this, and you do it in cold blood. Accept no substitutes, and if you like leather and you can find this at a good price still, it’s a must.

D@ne, it can't be true that it "smells terrible" if it is rated 4.16 out of 5 with 6,520 votes, can it? You don't like it, I get it... But it doesn't mean it smells terrible. Maybe leather isn't for everyone, but this leather is very much in the style of the Bottega Veneta intrecciato bag or wallet collection - ridiculously soft leather with unique, soft colours and lasting performance this brand is known for. If you have fallen for their superb products, you'll love this scent too.

Obviously, for leather aficionados only.

All BV original fragrances are discontinued (not just this one) and have now been replaced by the top-dollar Palladiano collection. ... Oh, wait, is Palladiano also discontinued? This house should keep going with fragrances - it has much to offer.

Yes Malena

@Sassafras23, horchata is a delicious, sweet drink made from rice and cinnamon. But I don't think it smells like Bottega Veneta! Which I also like a lot, btw. Thank you, Michel Almairac. :)

Sassafras23

Bottega Veneta is divine. Looking at the cons picked up by AI, how can this be likened to baby powder? In truth, I don’t know how baby powder smells (I used unscented talcum), but I doubt a product made for babies would smell anything like this. Nor is this scent powdery. By the way, I come across pervasive references on this site (not talking about BV now but in general) that are non informative to me, and I wonder if many people outside of the US know how root beer (float), play-doh, jolly rancher or cobbler smell. And what on earth is horchata?! Sure, I’ve googled these and know what they are, but one can’t smell them on the Web, can one? So when US folks draw such comparisons, I just blink blankly.

Betsyw1109

The opening smells a little more mature than I prefer but then this settles down into a peppery, powdery, gorgeous scent that has a hint of freshness..I can’t stop smelling myself. Love

Aeternitas

Ah, Bottega Veneta...
A swirling, deep concoction with a sweet touch of bergamot to keep it lively.
This is the perfect sophisticated leatherette fragrance. It is undeniably Italian and exudes opulence.
Bottega Veneta manages to capture a duality of demure and bold. Poised, but assertive.
Simply fantastic.

Despite the leathery base and general sweetness of this perfume, I could happily wear it during the summer just as well as in the fall or winter.
It lasts about 5 hours, which is not quite as long and strong as I was hoping for the price and the fact that it is an EDP.
But, I don't mind, as I am entirely enamored with this elegant fragrance.

vixxiimcmlxxxvii

one ounce bottles on jomashop right now, $65 USD
also code email5 and you'll save a few bucks :)

starts out as a twin of Bvlgari Splendida Patchouli Tentation, turns into you rummaging around your leather bag looking for your decant of Patchouli Tentation, and ends with a weaker version of Patchouli Tentation's drydown with the TINIEST touch of leather.

all in all it's a softer, yet simultaneously more masculine version of another fragrance. if you want a stronger version of Bottega Veneta, try Bvlgari. you won't get the leather note, but for me, most of the leather fades away pretty quickly anyway unless I use an exceptionally heavy hand in overspraying, and by the end you're back at Bvlgari again (for the most part). i already own several bottles of Patchouli Tentation. all things considered, still a successful time over here :) and a total love. i wish I’d have found this before Bvlgari and i think that if it weren't my signature scent, the leather would pull much harder! i will use my two small bottles sparingly since I have to really overspray to enjoy the leather. and reserve for certain weather.

oh and, as a side, this beautiful, sleek bottle absolutely shits on Bvlgari's oddly-shaped one!

Edit: I haven’t worn Bvlgari in a couple of weeks and I revisited this today. PLENTY of leather. Think I just needed to get Bvlgari out of my nose! This is an amazing similar but alternate scent for when you want something a little more…luxe. It’s that leather man, money!

Xerox

Such an amazing g scent prices will go through the roof as it is near impossible to find - none of the other scents are close to this classy elegant and one that lasts - wish I had bought more !!!!

Philosophia

I really love this scent and always want to have this in my collection. Is it discontinued? If so please tell me where I can find it…

Perfume_junkie_UK

Tried a sample of this last year and I have wanted it ever since. I heard it was being discontinued (not sure if true) so I decided to buy a couple of bottles whilst I still had the chance.

I'm so glad I did.

This smells like luxury, cashmere, leather, a comforting, luxurious and sensual scent.

The top notes are pretty much soil and leather. It smells very earthy, and well I really wasn't sure about it.

Until...

The dry down is stunning!
Leather jasmine, bergamot and patchouli are what stand out on me. It smells like I'm wearing a very expensive ball gown, opera gloves, a leather jacket and a cashmere scarf, and a beautiful masculine man is standing next to me.

The longevity is fantastic. Had it on 6 hours already and it's still radiantly beautiful.

Tempted to buy a couple more bottles as it truly is a stunner!

Ksj_

This is an intriguing scent...

I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting from this outside of the obvious leather notes, but there's something unique here.

Side note:

Whereas my brain can interpret this being the smell of the inside of a woman's leather purse, there's something else within this composition that's very unique and alluring. I look forward to giving this a week of wearing, and spending the appropriate time to experience the beauty of it.

Nicely done.

TheDeleeShow

I really really wanted to like this scent. I had read a number of reviews that praised it, but it just sits a little too heavy on my skin - leaving a VERY leathery scent. I don’t hang around a lot of vegans, but smelling like a leather belt isn’t really my jam. I’ve tried it a couple of times, and it lasts a little too long for me to really be comfortable with it.

Maybe it’s an acquired taste, or maybe it’s just my chemistry. I sometimes wear it hiking, so I feel like I match the smell of the outdoors.

leahlzander

Spraying Bottega Veneta, I get a clear image of a leather-gloved hand pulling beets from the earth. There's a hint of pepper and a patchouli, but nothing sharp enough to cut through the dank, wet topsoil.

Fortunately this stage is brief. The soil dries out and blows away, leaving smooth dark leather and the faintly herbal whiff of patchouli. In this fully evolved form, Bottega Veneta is like a cup of dark tea: rich, nutty, and just a little sweet. I was also impressed by its longevity; I can still smell it several hours after application and a workout.

jadepo21

When I read the notes, I was hoping something feminine and delicate would balance the leather and earthy elements, but this is a pretty straightforward leather scent. It’s far too masculine and stringent for my tastes. I actually ended up washing it off.

CathyNoo

This is so unique, classy, and gorgeous. It has a very luxurious vibe. It's such a pleasure to wear it. The best women's leather fragrance I ever smelled. Absolutely must have in my collection. Backup bottles stocked up!

SlavicaK

I tested a sample today. I like this scent, and it is very different from what I have in my collection. I don't mind the moderate sillage, it's a plus as far as I'm concerned. It is still too early to judge how long lasting the scent is.
Some of the previous reviews' mention of it being too sweet gave me pause, as I can't wear fragrances that are too sweet, I need to scrub them off; in this case, I don't detect cloying sweetness at all.
I would be happy to get a larger decant, but I am not sure whether I will purchase a full bottle. It has been discontinued and I wonder if I might regret not purchasing.

Edit: My husband came in and said: "Is there a smell? It smells like what smokers spray to cover up the stink of cigarettes." I guess it means he doesn't like it much.

xxxtomatoxxx

a gorg elegant yet sweet and demure scent. Like a sensitive milf in a pink cashmere sweater and pearls. a shame it's so hard to find!!

PlanetGrl

Evokes the feeling of a fine cashmere scarf or maybe a sweater. Cozy, warm and made for fall and winter with its powdery leather combination. This smells expensive and utterly refined. I only get a few hours of it on my skin, but what a lovely few hours it is.

lmnsvgz

The opening is a peppery and bitter leather. After some time on skin it turns into a smoother version, there is greenness from the moss but it's still a leather-focused fragrance. It is a bit sweet as well - the whole feel of the fragrance is luxurious, but also strong-willed. It is not an intimate scent. I imagine this being worn by a person in fashion in the mid 2000s. It makes a statement but it still passes for a day scent.

Tamijami79

To me this is a softer version of Narciso edp 2014 (the white cube). I would place this one, Narciso edp, Narciso edt (black cube) and Bvlgari Patchouli tentation in the same line. Warm cashmere patchouli. This one is the softes of that line, I would say. Verry nice💖

AUyliong

Comparing BV EdP and BV Eau de Velours (EdV).

They both start similarly - big blast of pencil shavings after the initial spray which turns into a woody spicy scent after they dry on the skin. The big difference is the accord of bergamot and pink pepper which give EdV more body and dimension. This is not a light and airy bergamot. It is deep, rich and heavy.

EdV's opening therefore is more "perfumey" and mature. I don't think most women younger than 40 wouldn't want to wear it whereas the orig can be rocked by women as young as 25.

After about 10 mins, the EdP has turned into the scent of makeup with a slight touch of powder. In EdV it's hard to tell if the same transformation is taking place because the citrus and pepper dominate everything.

5 mins later and the bergamot has disappeared revealing that, yes, the same transformation took place. Both frags are now neck and neck but EdV's makeup accord is deeper.

For most of the first hour the EdP and EdV are dominated by the powdery makeup accord. There doesn't appear to be much leather in either if at all.

1 hr in the makeup accord have wound down. Projection and sillage seem stronger in EdV.

5 mins later the makeup accord is completely gone in both. Now it is replaced by leather.

This isn't leather shoe leather like in Tuscan Leather, Ombre Leather, Uomo Signature or Encre Noire. This isn't car leather either like in Memo's Italian Leather or Bentley's For Men Absolute and Infinite Intense. It's not leather bound books like Byredo's Bibliotheque either. I'm not sure I would classify this as women's leather bag leather because it smells nothing like the leather handbags of women I know.

It's fragrant but reserved. In texture it feels velvety like suede or Nubuck. The scent is hard to describe because I have no personal point of reference so it doesn't smell like I am looking at a specific object but a large bolt of animal skin. There's a faint hint of pencil shavings in both. In EdV it's additionally scented by plum and spices.

The note breakdown in both promise jasmine and/or roses but I'm getting neither white nor pink florals. At least not yet.

The leather notes lasted for about an hour before fading.

By 2hr 30 mins I can detect nothing from the arm I sprayed with the EdP and very faint traces of the plum in the one I sprayed with EdV.

Waiting to see if anything else develops or that was it. So far no jasmine, oakmoss or patchouli in the EdP and no rose, jasmine or patchouli in the EdV. If they were ever there they were likely but players or dominated by the stars of each respective show.

Again, I'd say EdP skews younger because of the straightforward notes. The addition of spiced fruits, while beautifully blended skew EdV toward an older, more mature and more sophisticated frag connoisseur.

Comparable frags 1 Cuir Amethyste, Kelly Caleche and Tenue de Soirée.

3hrs in I'm still getting a faint whiff of both although they need to be warmed up.

4 hrs 30 mins. Apparently I went anosmic 2hr ago but I can smell both again. They're still there and there's been no development. Scent is pretty linear since the drydown.

7 hrs in. Both are finally well and truly gone.

ScentedPianist

Elegant, subtle, discreet. Smooth as silk.
This is leather done my way - creamy & velvety, but unsweetened. Leather with the softness of milky peach + earthiness of moss.

babypong

I had a sample of this a few years ago. On first try I hated it and thought it was disgusting, and yet I put it on again and the second wear I fell in love with it. I always wanted a real bottle, but didn't have the money. As it is now discontinued I coughed up the dough to get a 1.7oz bottle. This scent is the opposite of the light girly powdery scents I usually go for, but that is what makes it unique for me and my collection. It's deep and leathery, smells awful in the bottle but great on your skin. It has good silage but not over powering which is what I'm used to with leather scents. Don't be scared of this perfume on first scent ! it can smell overpowering and masculine in the bottle or at first. I would never imagine I would like a leathery earthy scent for women, but this perfume is one of those addictive scents for me. I continuously apply it throughout the day because I love to smell it on myself. Even without reapplication I could get about 6 hours of wear out of this one. I'm sad its being discontinued but I guess that is what made me finally add it to my collection.

lynnphi

While it doesn't smell exactly like leather to me, it does evoke that feeling. I can't believe that Balenciaga EDP is not listed under "this perfume reminds me of" - it's a dead ringer. Sophisticated, dry but cold, 100% unisex. A minimalist vibe that is the opposite of boring or mundane.

pao08_

the smell of this right here represents the bottega brand -- unique, refined, and classy. a perfect blend. well made and mixed. gives off the luxury vibe.

Puuteri

This is sophisticated and pleasurable yet easy to wear. Worth buying for sure. I just bought two bottles. I have also Bottega Veneta for men, which I highly recommend as well.

tally2ball

This is such good quality for a "designer" scent. It's not one that is a universal people pleaser, but I just love it. Its deep, rich, luxurious, cozy and one of the few designer fragrances that i absolutely love. Different than all the other designer frags out there. I'm soooooo sad it's being discontinued. so so sad. I think if you like "Tempo" from diptque, give this one a try! Not the same, but I would say in the same genre.

amyvdplas

Never thought I would like to smell like a car interior or the inside of a leather bag. Yet I can't keep sniffing my wrists. It's warm, demi-sec (does that make sense?), intimate and sexy. Perfect for fall & winter. Imagine wearing it together with a black leather jacket and a big scarf...

LadyKiller-88

is it really intermittent? where can it be found out ?

sweetlikecandie

Can’t believe it’s discontinued. Rip

Amarmikica82

Bourgeoisie Fragrance definitely, smells like a billionaire woman

cheleine

Unisex, absolutely.
The leather note is prominent and there’s a bitterness coming from somewhere (the oakmoss-patchouli combo?). It smells like the inside of an expensive bag or a luxurious car and it’s very realistic, so I’m not sure if I’d want to smell like this. I can’t really understand the reviews describing this as “feminine” or “soft” as I find it very bold, even dark, in your face oppressive, a tiny bit screechy and not at all friendly. This scent is different and it wants you to know that. It’s not playing any games or by the rules and frankly, as many have mentioned, it doesn’t care if you like it or not. It’s serious, not lighthearted and kind of snobby. I’ve never said that before but if I can describe it somehow.. it’s cold and warm at the same time. I wish this was leaning a tiny bit more feminine on my skin, those white florals to be amped up so that leather doesn’t come through so strong and realistic on me.
I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.
I’ll try it again in cooler weather.

Showard3

I blind bought after seeing reviews here and was expecting and wanting to be challenged by the leather in this scent. Notes wise, it’s completely different from anything else I have. I’m surprised, it smells very much like Gucci Rush! Very pretty, more refined version but I’d say 90% similar to Rush’s dry down on my skin. Happy to have in my collection even if it is redundant. I’m hoping in cooler weather some different nuances come out.

IamdrinkingBeer

I would say this is unisex. I get how classically, this would be fem, but if you can wear Dior Homme/Intense, you can most def wear this one. I have a feeling a man would get tons of compliments on this, cause it is aloof, yet sensual and playful at the same time. This has a leather moss base that gives this security, it gives it a lush, understated luxury high class vibe. Very similar to Cuir Amethyste, and Thank God i love CA. For the money, this is far and above most designer scents. No bs here, only high quality.

Dave12

Very powdery and astringent not my cup of tea at all I tried my best to give it a chance but it’s just not for me however if you're into a powdery mature leather vibe it’s ok but I’m not into that at all.

Dorothy812

Pure love. I knew this one would be special when I blind bought it, just looking at the bottle makes you want it. The leather and patchouli sing together and citrus and white florals make it more feminine but never obnoxious. Old style, but with a bit of modern edge. This is the scent of effortless power. Could wear it any season, any time, just make sure you feel like being your best self that day.

Edit: yeah it’s perfect. Just splurged on second bottle cos I will not be able to save it and not wear it all the time.

ballerinanoir

Let me clarify one thing about how I feel about scents: I think they create a huge atmosphere around you. Scents can be empowering and motivating through my journey, and I feel more confident when I wear the right one.

This smells like money.
Out of this world elegance and good manners.
Stealt wealth kinda perfume.
Not loud.
Few scents remind me of an old money type of woman.
Allure Sensuelle by Chanel and Bottega EDP are two good exemples, although very different.

I smell expensive bottega-like leather, patchouli and something slightly fruity in the beginning and citrus as it disappears. I think it smells like “high quality”.

I dont know, but i feel like it is the scent 12 year old me would pick to the mid 30s successful business woman me. Smells exclusive and impeccable, and what I saw myself turning into when I was much younger.

Low sillage, long lasting power (about 7 h, stays on coats and fabrics forever).

Strong patchouli and leather vibe going on.
I do have good memories with Bottega EDP. One of my favorites. But do not blind buy this.

dubdub

I love this. Very clean leather, elegant and sophisticated also very unisex.

Mother Nurgle

Based on the notes I should love this, but it’s so sweet! It’s cloying and borderline sickening. Maybe it will work better in colder weather.

fragheadny

I'm so disappointed. I was so excited about this perfume as the notes look like everything I would love. Seeing reviews saying its very expensive and niche smelling got my hopes up too high. I have smelled this everywhere. It's like you took 10 of the most popular fruitchouli + leather fragrances and blended them together (blended nicely at least, but... still). Nothing original or noteworthy. Projection is very intimate and longevity is an average 5/6 hours.

Mhd.Scent

Very beautiful, for me it is very niche perfume. This is not a basic designer perfume. As soon as I felt it he made me recall two perfumes, gris montaigne by Dior and Bibliothèque by Byredo

Tiktok and Instagram Mhd.scent

Ghadah02

I dislike the top notes of this because it got that vintage style to it but after a couple of minutes the vintage is GONE, and it will smell much better, I like how leathery it smells. I wish if it wasn't a warm scent.

If you love a warm leathery scent you should definitely try this

ad4

Very weak. I tried this perfume today in usual amount and I didn't smell almost anything. The little bit I smelled is very generic and not interesting at all. For me not worthy any more attention.

missile414

I bought a sample because the reviews were so positive, and the notes looked harmless enough. but oh my this fragrance is SO generic. It makes me think of many designer fragrances or their flankers of some sort. Sure it's "smooth' and "well blended" but only in the way where you know the perfumer had a strict brief to fulfil. I was expecting much more wood or leather from the fragrantica breakdown but it's predominantly a sweet floral. I guess I'm just a little disappointed because it seems the description and everyone else's experiences have set this up as something that it's not. It's not unpleasant in any sense, it's actually very pretty, but you don't have to hunt for this particular fragrance to smell like this. Either way not for me.

Trishalalalala

I wanted to wear it at office.

Even though the leather is the base not, I can smell it from the first spray, along with patchouli. This reminds me of black orchid by TF, but a more sophisticated and wearable version.

What I think of wearing it at the office? I wouldn’t. It is still very loud with the patchouli, so much so if someone is migraine prone this perfume would be a nightmare!

The dry down is more office wearable, more life-put-together-type. But the journey to dry-down-ness isn’t as much attractive as someone would wish it to be.

SophiaViolette

Peppery, mossy, resinous…

I wanted to give this a try based on many good reviews. Yes it does smell high-quality, but not my type of scent at all. I don’t like the resinous note in there. Probably the combination of the type of leather and moss used. Had to scrub it off…

It matures you wearing this. It’s stern. This fragrance makes me think of what a mean, widowed mother-in-law would wear on a wedding day. Or funeral.

Okay, this has to be one of the most well blended perfumes there is. I fell in love with this one and keep reaching out to it. It’s one of those scents you can detect all notes but then, all of a sudden, you can’t detect anything anymore. It’s just this beautiful and unique juice! I have never tried the Armani Privé Cuir Améthyste, but I can confirm this smells NOTHING like Gris Dior. Not even from a distance. This one is FAR BETTER. You read it right. Do yourself a favor and go try this beauty. Or not, then I will keep getting all the compliments. 😎

PFortune

This is my older sister’s signature perfume since it appeared.
She brought it with her from a business trip to Italy. She immediately fell in love with it and it became her favourite. I was so inspired by that story. So it strongly reminds me of her elegance and independence.
It is a beautiful perfume, extremely refined and classy. It has a hint of citrus, soft florals, exotic patchouli and woody oakmoss... it somehow makes you think of premium leather goods.
It’s fresh, but at the same time very elegant, always floating in the air when she leaves the room. It’s divine, how elegant it is. It’s a perfect example of understated taste and courtesy.

astralmonad870

This has the same notes as Lady Code by Valmont except instead of almond in the base it has oak moss, leather, and patchouli. To me the combination is odd and I prefer the more uniform sparkle that Lady Code has rather than the smoky leather in this.

christianne1

This perfume has a 4.16 rating out of nearly 6,000 votes. There is a reason for that.

It’s phenomenal.

Once upon a time it was incredibly unique but it’s been copied so many times that it may seem like you’ve smelled it elsewhere. You have, it’s not your imagination…but it was the one that started this particular scent profile.

It’s a modern chypre, with emphasis on modern. This isn’t a classic chypre by any means but it’s mossy enough where it does have that feel to it. If this perfume was a color it would be grey/violet with muted green undertones. It’s earthy and mossy but there is this sweet ghost like violet colored atmosphere that surrounds it, along with a sueded leather. It feels luxurious and classy yet badass all at the same time.

It’s one of those perfumes that ghosts in and out…even when you think it’s gone other people can smell it. I do go anosmic to it pretty easily so I’m always asking other people if they can smell it. They always can, even 12 hours later.

I wore this perfume when it came out and fell hard for it, then discovered other things and sort of forgot about it. I recently rediscovered it and I must say, it may be my favorite perfume of them all. It’s hard to say what it is about it that makes me love it so much. I’m not even sure myself. All I know is that it’s heaven in a bottle to me and I can’t stop
wearing it even though I have hundreds of other options.

HYLAS

What a bizarre fragrance this is! Bottega Veneta opens with a burst of citrus. Innocuous enough . . . then a powdery floral scent starts creeping in with the dry-down, followed by fruity bubblegum, and finally those chalky old Parma Violets I remember from my teenage years. But there is something sour in the base. As if someone was sick in the next room, and a friend has kindly sprayed something cheap and fruity to cover it up. Maybe it’s the leather, maybe the oakmoss. Either way, I’ve never smelled anything quite like it before. It's a solid no from me.

catcat42

It is a clean, mossy earthy fragrance which I always liked. Patchouli here is not very loud and instead it ties together everything so nicely in the background. Its addictive but not loud. It is not a generic soap, very classy. It has been around for so long yet I dont think its outdated. I will get a bottle.

edit: I got a bottle and somehow I cant stand it anymore. gifted to a friend.

soso.sofia

Onto my 3rd bottle of Bottega Veneta, which means I think it smells divine! It's leathery, mossy, a bit of floral. It's dark but sparkly at the same time. it's gorgeous and sexy. Unfortunately I don't foresee to ever purchase a 4th bottle because my 1st bottle had excellent performance, but my 2nd performed a little worse, and the 3rd definitely a lot worse.

Maha1985

Sweet lemonade with patchouli . I dont know how i feel about it . Its a love/hate thing so far.

Xamapola

It opens as rough leather, too rough for my test, nothing sophisticated nor pleasant. Then developes into a very soft sweet jasmine that is nice but very weak. I can´t smell any patchouli, not at all. It hardly lasts one hour in my skin. After seeing the reviews here I was about to just blind buy it. I am glad I found a sample and realised that this perfume is not for me.

Child Chemist

First Impression: I smell florals, chocolatey patchouli and a feint oakmoss base note... where's the leather? I also pick up on the chemical smell mentioned, but it may just be how the notes combine. The silage is pleasantly soapy; All around, Bottega Veneta edp is a clean, soft fragrance.

evarosa

Violet and leather but extremely sweet, it was not for me.

tropic0

Nice, but lacks personality. It is gentle and well blended, could be a good office fragrance. I feel however it was a bit boring to be honest. I think the pink pepper ruins the leather notes and makes it a bit generic! I'll keep looking for a fresh leather scent but this ain't it..

lessthanzero

Initial impression: It's very pretty. It's quite daring for a mainstream/designer woman-targeted fragrance. It's sharp - especially in the opening. I admire that it's so unabashedly a leather chypre.

However - it has a general sweetness at every stage which muddies the scent, and takes away drastically from its appeal. It feels like someone designed a beautiful, minimalist, modern leather chypre, and an executive in a corner office somewhere sent it back to the lab with a note: "Needs to be sweeter." A shame.

It feels better in quality (ingredients-wise) than your average designer or Zara perfume.

After trying this, I think I'll splash out the money to buy a sample of Gris Dior...

OpiumSmopium

Very classy fragrance with prune smell, sweet and bittersweet at the same time. Wonderfully rich and decadent, like destined for those who can carry an expensive all leather (no canvas!) handbag that doesn't scream nouveau riche. If you want to exude elegance and dynamism this is your scent!

It's priced just right and has wonderful body products too.

sleepypotatomuncher

maybe it's because my mom gave this to me, but i always think "RESPONSIBILITY" when i smell this. ha. i think of mock necks, blazers, and corporate domination. 🤣

Sharna

My absolute favourite perfume, I’m utterly inlove with this!
you can’t go wrong.
Swear I’ve scored a job over this perfume, everyone compliments me. It is expensive but you don’t need to use much, it’ll last all day.

OlgaOT

The dry down is one of the most heavenly I ever smelled! Fuzzy, cozy, subtly sweet and very slightly sparkly. (Perhaps leather, pepper and jasmine? But this is just an uneducated guess!) Whatever it is — the blend is perfect and I could live in it! Especially during the colder holiday season.

However, my relationship with what comes before the dry down is difficult. The scent is utterly beautiful, refined and distant (of the cold quality). I truly appreciate and like it but I do not feel comfortable wearing it.

I think I’ll try and scent a scarf, perhaps this will be able to capture just the dry down? But I am also very open to any suggestions for what else to try if I just want this Bottega but after 3+ hours of wearing it.

Cocobello

Bergamot, jasmine, leather? Sounds like me! How wrong was I! The pepper and the patchouli definitely ruined it for me. I don't know why I keep trying with patchouli fragrances when I can't stand patchouli. I think it's the pink pepper that makes it very sharp and it only gets softer after about 3 hours. Which I am not willing to wait out. I am happy I only got a mini sample bottle

realitygreene

Very green and woodsy at first, but it got sweet after an hour or so, I suspect it's due to the jasmine. This scent has faded significantly after 2.5 hours and I feel like I oversprayed...not exactly thrilled about that. I only have a decant so I'm not too fussed, but I was hoping this would become a new favorite because I love the bottle and remember really liking a sample that a friend had in the past. I'll test this out more, but as of now, I do like what I smelled, but it faded so so quickly.

AnlisaC

What a beauty!!! I love the notes in this and it smells perfect to me, if that makes sense. the rose and leather are phenomal in this! It’s perfect for the cooler fall and winter. This is a sophicated “I’ve got money” perfume. It a unisex scent for sure! Once in dry down it get almost powdery but not the iris lipstick powdery, more of a woody powder! Don’t sleep on this get it!!! This is a mature person scent, not a BBW scent at all! Highly Highly recommended 20/10 This is the best especially if you like rose!!!

AuthenticAF

This is so great but i cant find it anymore?🤷♀️😢

tally2ball

This one was a RARE love at first sniff for me. I can't really correlate the smell to anything like others can (ex. a leather purse etc.) only bc my brain doesn't really do that with fragrances. And my nose isn't sophisticated enough to pick out individual notes most of the time. I just really like what this blend smells like, simple as that.

Yes Malena

Makes me picture Jill Abbott from Y&R, circa 1990. It's a smell that goes with those set designs. I'll say no more, except that it does smell good. Just not for me.

Udacha

This is truly a masterpiece of a scent ! Smoothness and balance of leather and jasmine - such a round, pleasant, intelligent and elegant fragrance …for more unique sensation I layer it with Cuir De Nuit
But it’s also fantastic just by itself ! Loveeeee..

PrettyPerfectPatrice

THIS IS A BANNGER!!!! I got this 3 years ago during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Event. They had a gift set…. And I forgot all about it… but I rediscovered it this week… it is so sophisticated… original…. And just yummy…I looooooovw this. Definitely could be a signature scent.

rullaxoxo

The BEST leather scent of all time.

A contrast between clean and earthy. It is deep, yet fresh. I honestly can’t even put into words how this smells like, because it is full of dichotomies.

Sometimes, it reminds me of a new leather bag. Other times, it reminds me of a luxurious spa.

This is an amazing scent that smells niche and ultra expensive. Huge compliment getter!

Overall: 10/10

papabear

Who headache with leather scent, should pass away.

Suit for women age 40 up. Not for teenage at all.

The smell make me miss grandma, many aunts and old ladies in a good way. ( ex. kitchen when cooking food with herbs while open the window , the wind come in and the light shining into the room)

Not safe for blind buy. Try first, there are a lot of alternatives when compare to the price.

sweetlikecandie

Ugh this perfume is soooo underrated! Def my new signature scent. Perfect for all seasons, night and day. I was actually surprised to find out how earthy the notes are. On me it smells very clean and peppery, very mysterious but bold. It also has a kind of incense smell to it. Got complimented on it multiple times already. I get why it can be quite masculine to people but I actually think its quite feminine in the strongest way possible. This is definitely something I could see Rihanna wearing. I heard Alexa Demie wears/wore this which makes total sense. So underrated and so good!

Dramaloladiva

One of the most classy and elegant perfume I have smelled so far.
This is definitely unisex. Though there is a strong leather note in the composition of this perfume, it only adds beauty and depth to it. I sprayed my hand once this morning and the scent lingered all day with beautiful notes of oakmoss, patchouli and florals and of course, leather.

Small addendum: does it remind me of Gris Dior? No! Absolutely not!
Gris Dior has patchouli and oakmoss so they share a few notes but to my nose, they wear VASTLY differently on my skin. Bottega Veneta has a TON of leather that makes it very very unisex more so than Gris Dior. Just my 2 cents (scents, yes, pun intended!!)

Katie <3

I love this scent, it's so unusual and elegant.
The leather note smells very nice combined with the oakmoss and patchouli. Unisex.

yurkin

I wish this fragrance worked out for me. I like the scent profile itself but something in the composition irritates my nose, and I mean literally. Something which smells soapy clean, I suspect it's the jasmine, literally tickles my nose. And finally the dry down on my skin is makeup powder... something I can't stand lol.
Now that I'm familiar with the scent I can recognise when somebody on the street is wearing it and gosh I love it. So much that I think to buy the fragrance again lmao

MarnaL

Really quite disappointing for this price point and name, you'd think you'd get a frag that is more complex, less linear with better longevity and sillage.

But no.

To my nose, I got Bergamot and leather with perhaps some patchouli. The scent remained completely linear from beginning to end.

Longevity: 3/10- 3 hours
Sillage: 2/10- Barely any
Projection: 2/10- Not more than a foot if even a foot.
Smell: 8/10- Great smell, the leather adds an elegance but there are many other similar frags with much better performance for much better price points.

Zae

The fashion design house of luxury leather accessories, yes the leather in it so intense. bit masculine but oh God... can't stop to smell it... so classy its perfect for night or winter. but too bad longevity is moderate. So I bought 2.

Cortina1981

Awsome! As a man,i can wear this with no problem, and love to smell it on a woman, which is how i discovered this gem.Really beautiful and original unisex fragrance.Five stars.

Ninalovesclassy

God, this smells exactly like leather, moss and patchouli. The first time that I acutally smell the notes. Its heavy, masculine, smells like dirt and old wardrobe. Its awful to me.

Sleekdecadence

This scent makes me think of this scene:
children garden party somewhere in the USA during a pleasant sunny day of the 70s era. The doors newest hit is on the radio, the smell of the freshly cut lawn mix with cookies and the sweet punch aroma. Suddenly a thunderstorm comes out of nowhere. The scent of petrichor arises among the odor of wet suede jackets and jeans. A woman next to me massively hairspraying her locks and children are screaming.

Btw it smells the same as a late Tony&guy hair perfume. Lasting and sillage is moderate. I guess it's overpriced although a compact scent. I don't like it on me because of the heavy sweetness.

chyan

Im having a really hard time with this one. I have a decently sized decant and I’ve wanted to scrub the three times Ive tried it on. I really don’t like the feeling of being in the minority on the dislike side of something, because it makes me feel like I am missing something or closing myself off in some way. Not sure I will try this again as this is one fragrance I’ve had the most trouble tolerating in a very long time, and I cannot put my finger on why. I love a good funky, dark, heavy and animalic frag, but this smells completely discordant and unpleasantly musky on me, perhaps the pepper combined with oakmoss I’m not taking well? I don’t know, will spray it on my husband I guess

ATC

Just received a 50ml bottle. Beautiful, sleek glass bottle design. A sophisticated combination of spices, leather, sweet floral, and musk notes with great depth. Smells elegant, classy and serious. Genuinely unisex. For some unknown reasons it somehow gives an slight impression of Bacarrat 540 from MFK but a milder version --- something like the smell of cash. It has its unique character and class. Lasts for at least 2-3 hours with projection of more intimate nature.

Jclee34

I just received this perfume today after reading the reviews and for me … it gives me the Gris Dior, Rihanna Rouge and N. Rodriguez perfume vibes. I prefer this one instead of Dior because it’s much more juice. It’s beautiful. I’m going to wear to work today and see how long it las

okamikiera

Beautiful, modern soft chypre. Thanks to the multifaceted notes like patchouli, it’s a little of everything: leather, floral, musk, woody, green, citrus. Very weak juice though-- I feel like you have to use a lot to smell this, or maybe my mini has aged. Still, it’s an ideal skin scent, especially when paired with the classic oakmoss Old Spice deodorant. The peach colored liquid is an accurate representation of Bottega Veneta as a “nude” perfume for casual no-makeup days. I like that they made it this way, but as a fan of colorful perfumes I’m not keen on wearing it.

brandi.head

Lady boss... So feminine and so business. I have been teleworking since the start of the plandemic, but I still throw this on for an intense Zoom meeting. Heavenly leather. Perfect and powerful and lasting. At the end of the day (it lasts!), skin scent of pure comfort. Unique, favorite, hands down.

KJS88

My ex-girlfriend left a bottle of this in my bathroom when we broke up a few months ago. I had no desire to contact her to come and collect it, so I kept it when I moved and decided to give it a whirl one day. I felt so good wearing it and got so many compliments, I think I might buy a bottle for myself when this runs out. I feel totally confident wearing this as a man. This is remarkably high-end, sensual, and genderless at the same time. Even my father complimented me on this, and he’s only ever worn Cool Water and Eau Sauvage because he’s never really moved on from the 1970s conception of masculinity.

Am I saying anyone can pull this off? No. It takes some level of confidence and a light touch on the tigger, but it wears nicely. I can’t image wearing this in t-shirt and jeans, mind.

Slickchick81

Sexy, sophisticated and sleek. This perfume is perfectly unisex whoever wears it will attract attention, this fragrance commands it. The bottle is beautiful in its simplicity. I feel very elegant and confident when I wear this perfume, great for the office or a night out, it is versatile.

liyashayk

Elegant and sophisticated fragrance. I was really sceptical when i tried it and did not immediately fell in love. But a male friend of mine told me i smelled expensive, so i knew i had to give it a second chance and after that i fell in love. It goes really well with Hermes Elixir des merveilles. Its a total female fragrance, its too sweet for a male.

schatzrose

I was excited about this one since i was looking for a totally new perfume from a category like ‚leather, earthy or woody’ and due to all the positive reviews on the internet. Finally i tested it today and -with all due respect (i can smell the quality) - i feel like i can imagine my boyfriend wearing this perfume and it would still be a very manly choice for my taste. Hence I am definitely getting why it has been voted as unisex. If you want to try a totally different scent go for it, but if you are fan of vanilla scents like myself, please test it before you buy it.
Thanks for reading! It is my second review on Fragrantica so please don’t be harsh on me :))

Eclectorina

It's a dream. Creamy whiskey whispers and leather with soft flowers, dries down peppery slight patchouli and the moss is soft. A statement for sure, and light enough to pat yourself on the cheek. Sophisticated and a little unusual. Unisex. To its right on a younger more male character.
Scent 9/10
Projection from intimate
Nozzle sprays fine clouds
The bottle is a 10
All in all 9/10
I had to spend a week with it on initial encounter, there's a sweetness that makes you crave more. Which is why it's my signature at the moment. It grows on you! If possible!

I love it.

stephania3000

This is a like for me. It has a strong personality and it is different than most designer perfumes. It is nearly identical to Rihana’s Rogue and because of this I will not repurchase this, going with Rogue next time. Both fragrances last and project the same on me so the price difference is not justified.

nauditaolivia

A very strong opening, smells better over time.

I have to quote @Cristinaaa: "This perfume is made to accentuate the confident, bold, authoritative aspects of a woman's personality. It is seriously for 'woman in charge' types. I envision a successful woman who is aloof, unbothered by the bullshit around her, and who holds strongly informed opinions without apology."

Very good for business wear, it smells expensive. It's kinda hard to find people who wear this and that's why I like it.

faodailen

Perfume is very personal and intimate for its magical feeling it transports to. BV BV has dual delicate tones.
It elevates me to the chief of staffs assisting Mr President on day to day basis. When necessary, it also contributes to releasing tension.
From BV BV, I've learnt the smell of leather and oakmoss. The latter one, it was one evening as I was reclining on my fluffy pillow. This air-conditioned room somehow detected the creeping oakmoss and i was magically Neytiri in Pandora.
However, this was not love at first sniff. Sample is recommended.

menmen

Wanted to try it because my name is Veneta,I thought it would be really funny if actually fell inlove with it since I'm so picky. The opening scared me at first, but when I let it sit on my skin it became so gentle and pleasant. It smells familiar but also not, could be because of the leather. My parents also liked it, compared to Dior addict on my other wrist, this was the clear winner for everyone. I might treat myself for Christmas, who knows.
Definitely try it on your skin before you buy it.

dismalharmony

I was afraid when I opened my splash bottle that this was just another generic patchouli bomb; however, I am pleased to report that this is not the case. Bottega Veneta is mossy, leathery patchouli with a sprinkle of pink pepper for a pleasant bite that really elevates the fragrance. Sophisticated and mature without being too austere. Surprising sillage & longevity for the tiny amount I dabbed on my wrists — I’m enveloped in a heavenly cloud of pure luxury. Though I think it’d be perfect in a professional setting, any woman over the age of 25 could rock it on most occasions (I as a 20-year-old feel a little young for it, but there’s no way I’m letting that stop me).
This one is something special. I see a full-sized bottle in my future.

ETA: Seeing a lot of negative reviews for this recently. I understand that not everyone will enjoy the same fragrances, but if you are unsure about this one, do try it again when autumn rolls around. That’s when it really shines.

GizPop

I have to say it is quite similar to Gris Dior, but the Dior holds it better. What I mean is that, to my nose, Bottega Veneta is quite undecided, the leather is just an impression but undefined. It is neither cold nor warm, not bright nor dark. While Bottega Veneta is a smokey quartz, Gris Dior is a light, clear amethyst, very crisp and cold. Bottega Veneta is the true gray amongst the two.
Kudos to BV for not having any “granny” vibes, as I unfortunately find in Gris Dior.
P.S. I would layer this with MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold, which would take the perfume to a warmer and more complex side. Funny enough, them two combined instantly made me think of Venice (strangely, the very name of the perfume "bottega veneta" means "venetian shop"). I hadn't even made the association and had the vision. So maybe there is something to it, after all.

juicygreasy

i blind bought this at hated it at first - possibly because it flashed me back to some dark times as a kid - not sure which note/notes it was that did that, maybe the patchouli leather combo? - and yeah it was a crushing and expensive disappointment. but after spending some time with it, getting used to it, it's strangely become one of my favorite scents. also it is strongly reminiscent of cuir amethyste by giorgio armani. smells like a polished woman and makes me feel expensive

Eribert

Am I the only one who's getting strong Mitsouko-vibes here ?

On my skin, the Bottega Veneta Signature scent smells very similar to the recent Mitsouko EdT. While the head notes are quite different - the Bottega Veneta fragrance smells very spicy and sour, albeit not in a citric way, at this stage - about 15 minutes in, both fragrances smell almost identical to me. I get jasmine on oakmoss, I even get a strong peach note, despite none being listed.

45 minutes in the Bottega Veneta signature scent smells like Mitsouko with a stronger vanilla undercurrent. 1h 30 minutes in, the peach note from the beginning turns citric - and is more interesting than the more heavy and linear one in Mitsouko. This is what the fragrance stays like for hours, oscillating between a lovely, tangy peach and the leathery, round Mitsouko-style peach.

Only from hour 5 onwards, I the peach turns warmer and the leather notes come through more prominently. From hour 7 onwards, the fragrance is getting hard to detect.

Rating this fragrance in an objective way is hard. On the one hand, the Bottega Veneta signature is a refined, grown-up fragrance. On the other hand, to me it's just a Mitsouko-dupe that doesn't match my personal taste. Then again, quality is not the issue here. Frankly, especially as for the peach note I enjoyed the Bottega Veneta one more than the one in Mitsouko, because it is just more lively and dynamic here - and I would never think of giving M. an "ok" rating or worse. Therefore, I decided to stick with a "like". Bottega Veneta is a nice fragrance, even though I would not buy it.

I recommend it for anyone who is looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to Mitsouko or collects fragrances that run in the very same vein. The Bottega Veneta signature scent is suitable for men and women alike from their 30s to eternity. It's grown-up, it's dignified and it is inoffensive while it allows its wearer to display a refined taste in fragrances.

TL;DR: dignified Mitsouko dupe.

SarahKatrina

I have this one in a full bottle . At first i loved it, it seemed to give off classy leather , oakmoss vibes...and then suddenly it just straight up reminded me of Gilette Shaving Cream in an old school barber shop . And as soon as that smell memory creeped in , it was like cannot unsmell :((( Now this is just average to me . Anyone else feeling like this? . I feel awful since reviews in youtube of this speak so highly of it being a classy bosslady scent which i sooo want it to be . lol . There is also a strong grandpa- muskiness about it that is in the dry down. I'm seeing how it can be layered to kind of soften the shaving cream vibe hahahaha i dunno .

pince_nez

Jasmine/ plum/ patchouli/ leather -- so says Botega Veneta's ad on their premier perfume.
Could it really be this simple? I am sure there are other ingredients thrown in there but this scent's development follows this fragrant route. Fresh lightly indolic jasmine opens followed closely by the deepening sweet richness of plum then the dankness and spiciness of patchouli interfers until it settles into the softest animalic warmth of suede.

A marriage of Italian chic and German precision (Tomas Maier is, after all, a German) -- this chypre frag succeeds brilliantly. It is warm but not frilly, its development properly delienated and in its simplicity and understated elegance, it is relentlessly chic.

Like the darker/spicier Daim Blond (its distant cousin) -- this can be unisex.

A beauty! Recommended!

magdalena.szerenos

It was a blind purchase and I’m happy it’s only a travel spray. It’s a sweet sickly sticky leather on me. Like if someone smeared a honey on a hot car seat. I’ll pass on it. I guess I’m just not a big fan of leather 🤷🏻♀️

shalimaraddict

This is a beautiful leather scent from Bottega Veneta. The opening is slightly fresh, before the floral heart of jasmine. The leather is dominant though, but not too strong. The patchouli is very understated. The scent works because it isn't too much or anything. It's very soft and sexy at once.

Nosy nose nadz

I bought this perfume as a blind purchase based on the reviews and in all honesty I absolutely hate it. If anyone is interested in purchasing from the uk. Only sprayed it a few times

ingeneuxo

-Opens smelling pleasantly fresh for a couple of seconds.
-And then it goes downhill from there.
-I might be one of the only reviewers who dislikes this. But the leather and spice notes that everyone else seem to be picking up on... to me it just comes across as this super sweet scent that soon becomes cloying.
-Leans slightly masculine. (-)

Lizabs68

Absolutely beautiful.

kristamb

Wow, this one's nice and screams vintage but classy to my nose. This isn't an overly "sexy" feminine scent, but it is what I would say is a great feminine "office" scent. It is crisp, clean, and reminds me of a professional, organized woman at the office! I like it a lot. It doesn't smell overly trendy or girly, but yet it also doesn't smell vintage to me--this opinion is coming from a 41 year old female :-) I will also say, it is not at all as masculine as the notes here may imply--lastly, for me-patchouli is usually a big NO, but I don't notice it in this one.

melimelo87

This to me is the epitomy of class and sass😍on my skin it turns into a sophisticated leathery and patchouli aroma with hints of oakmoss peaking through...the drydown of this perfume is amazing and very sexy.
I do not detect any jasmin, maybe some pepper and a bit of zesty citrus right in the opening. Total badass niche quality perfume. For me 10/10.

kristylynn

Wow this is super sweet leather. Candylike, similar to MDCI cio cio san imo.

debra0503

She is confident, well put-together, she doesn't mess around, but she is pleasant. She always dresses chic, always stylish and good fabric. She wears Bottega Veneta, or Fendi bag to work, she doesn't care, since she is the boss. She wears Bottega Veneta EDT as her signature.

I wish I am like her ;)

There is no sweetness in this on my skin, but I like it. On days when I crave some sweets, I hide JPG La Belle underneath, works magically

Edit: lately I layer it with Kayali Musk, the combination reminds me of the opening of discontinued Bottega Veneta eau Legere, which is my fav part of that fragrance.

blossomka

6.5/10. Fruity sweet floral. Very bright. Cheerful. Turning a little spicy nutmeg. A little too bright for me. Smoky, like the house might catch fire. Later comes the rose and passion fruit.

wongww

My all time favorite perfume, works really well for me. Very feminime and leathery. I get the most compliment when i wear this (among my other perfume. The Silage and longevity are excellent.

It is the designer perfume that smells like niche and smells very expensive.

Too bad it is discontinued and really difficult to buy.
I hope they will bring back this perfume.

Mando

I have this and I get violets with the suede and leather notes, not jasmine at all.
Also, this smells exactly like Armani Privee Cuir Amethyste which came out in 2004. Cuir Amethyste is a bit denser but it's spot for Bottega Veneta EdP.

englishrose96

Opens with citrusy spicy leather, and then settles to musky Parma violets at the bottom of an expensive leather bag. This smells like colour mauve.

I love it.

LaContessina

Great, great fragrance. Let alone the gorgeous bottle and the super sophisitcated ad.

The first Bottega Veneta fragrance starts off very citrusy (bergamot) and stays fresh and uplifting for the most of the time. It's really a clean, out of the shower feeeling.
Then a soft floral Jasmine heart reveals - still mixed with those fresh, citrusy notes.
The drydown is soft, a creamy suède - no you won't smell the leather purses are made of - but something much more airy and sophisticated.
And no, I do not get any patchouli (even if it is listed!).

Hours later, you can smell a more stable base made of oakmoss and some woods, I'd say a creamy cedarwood (not listed); still, the bergamot lingers!

Absolutely elegant, classic and refined.
This is a fragrance that does not scream, that stays subdued but is there, and you have to lean over to inhale.
The perfect fall/winter fragrance for business meetings, non intrusive but assertive at the same time. Will tell a lot about your coolness, professionalism and trustworthiness.

I adore it, to the point I have bought it 3 times.

PS: based on the rewiews I bought Rogue as a cheaper dupe for the expensive Bottega Veneta.
They're very similar in the drydown only, but the first 15 minutes of Rogue are loud, screchy fruity plum almost gagging. If you can get past the very ordinary mainstream opening, yes, you could call it a dupe.

CurrencyThat

Opens with a little suede, a little sweetness and a little spice. Then oakmoss rounds it all out, adding a wet texture and some earthiness (like wet earth). Overall, its moist yet smooth and suede-like with a mild sweet-spicy aroma from the pink pepper. Projection is moderate as is longevity.

Cristinaaa

This perfume is made to accentuate the confident, bold, authoritative aspects of a woman's personality. It is seriously for 'woman in charge' types. I envision a successful woman who is aloof, unbothered by the bullshit around her, and who holds strongly informed opinions without apology. I absolutely love it.

Now to the fragrance itself: It opens like sweet root beer. It has a fruity touch that is dimmed by the earthiness from the oakmoss and leather. I am not someone who enjoys leather in her fragrances but in BV it comes across as suede. It lingers in the background and adds dimension to an already beautiful creation. The suede is certainly not the main player. For those looking for a jasmine dominant fragrance profile, this is not it. The jasmine is blended to smell fruity and fizzy (again, think root beer). To my nose, this is not a typical designer fragrance. In fact, I think it could even pass for niche. This is a good purchase for someone venturing out into more adventurous territory.

StinkyTinky

My first impulse to buy this fragrance was born from a comment below. Someone said “its beautiful, but gives you an ice cold- get away from me vibe..” I’m not that girl. But wanted the option to be. I was so intrigued.
It arrived in the throes of summer, and while I gave it a full day wear- it was much too much. This dry aged leather. It was intrusive, and clinging. I set it aside. Pulled it out again in January. This is its season! There’s something dank about it, in the best way. Like an old leather coat stored in a hinged chest, or in a dark attic. Not the kind of one dimensional, all inclusive leather smell you get from a Wilson’s. This leather is almost exotic and unfarmiliar.
It absolutely adds something unique to my collection. The wearing window is relatively small, but I’m so glad I have this none the less...

I just blind bought this. What can I say I am hooked on fragrances and this sounds so cool! Aloof? Yes please, I'll take one like that. Anyway I will attempt to edit this after I get it and wear it!

celde

A very sexy, bold scent that is mature in the best way possible. I don't like super sweet, girly perfumes so this is a perfect match for me. Definitely need another bottle, if anyone is interested in the La Vie Est Belle L'Absolu de Parfum I would love to swap!

enhade

blind bought this because all the good review. ok, Its good, smell (a bit) expensive, but ni wow factor at all and the dry down too spicy on my skin (because the pink pepper)

mkile05

Anyone interested in swapping? I have this fragrance and my fiancé isn’t a fan. PM me and let me know!

Bee-young-ka

Blind buy with high hopes. Not dissapointed.
There is something this reminds me of? , but I cannot find the words. It feels familiar.

It "feels" like Serge Lutens Daim Blond but a different colour suade. More white than natural. Am I making sense?

What sweetness there is is very "cool".

It's very upmarket , almost snobbish.

love it.

ShannonIk

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the opening of this one. I get a blast of alcohol that almost burns when you take a whiff; fortunately, it dies down fairly quickly. I would recommend that you wait a solid 30 seconds to a minute before you go in for your first whiff of the fragrance.

As this dries down, I get a fairly indolic jasmine that is underpinned by leather on my skin. Personally, I love this combo, as it comes across as very soft and cuddlesome. This is a beautiful "come hither" scent that doesn't appear to be trying too hard. In my opinion, it's pretty, sophisticated, sexy and timeless.

Irinka. K

It smells like a cathedral's library. It will definitely not turning any man on 🤣. But you know what? I love it. This is the kind of scent I imagine Olivia Palermo and her husband would wear. Well-dressed but never have a hot-steamy sex. I would wear it with very dark sunglasses and a tight ponytail.

fragrances-fanatic

Bottle sniff smells like men's cologne. Peppery opening that smells exactly like some vintage women's perfume I used to sniff out of the bottle on my mom's dresser when I was a kid. (Wish I could remember what it was!) This is really different for a women's fragrance. Strong leather notes, quite masculine smelling. A touch of smokiness. After about 10 minutes the leather is calming down just enough for the jasmine to peek through. Becomes slightly less masculine with time. Very intriguing! I could see a hot older man or woman carrying this off - NOT because it's "old" smelling, but because the sophistication and confidence level has to be high to wear this fragrance. A younger person with sophistication and confidence could totally pull this off. Slightly serious...powerful...rich...but also sexy. Dig it!

BMac99

I’ve gone through half a bottle trying to find the love. I’ve found none, not even an intrigue. It’s cold and distant. The leather is harsh, and the smoke well it’s truly smoky. Honestly, it smells like Plymouth Plantation. If you know the reference you’ll understand what I mean. I’ve never gotten a compliment while wearing it. My co-worker, without asking for his opinion, said I smelled like some cleaning product his mother used to use. That’s when I threw in the towel. I love other Bottega Veneta perfumes but this is a no can do.

Liz-frag

I got a sample one day and on the first sniff I thought it was nice , a designer fragrance who finally stand out .
But ho my god , after that when it dried down I couldn’t stand it ! Maybe because I was heavily hangover ..
but wow it made me really really sick .
I had to wash it off as quick as possible .
My husband same thought that I was smelling like rotten .
Ive tried it again in a fresh state and that was even worse . I put the sample in the bin really quickly , what I do really not often.

ekowala7

In a different life, this would have been my signature scent. If I was the type of woman capable of wearing / owning only one fragrance, I genuinely think this would be it (or Chloe Nomade.. or both).

This is beyond something I can describe and just smells naturally good. This is the girl who uses a planner, drinks ice water from a metal straw, wears silk blouses and whenever she twists her hair up in a bun, it looks effortlessly beautiful.

For those scared of leather, it will still be ok. This smells like a soft buttery leather bag, versus a weathered leather saddle or something more masculie.

Longevity is long lasting, 6+ hours on the skin, silage is light/moderate (which is my preference). This is perfect for close encounters and is as subtle as it is beautiful.

Overall 9/10 - I can find no faults!

ilooo

Sorry for saying this - those perfume stinks. Never tried anything like it though, they are unique and very strong. I could not wash it off and could smell it for +/-12h It was a terrible experience :-(

LadyVenganza

Dr. Pepper and Fresh Suede boots! ( think timberland boots )

It’s a beautiful year rounder but sadly it gives me a bit of a migraine. I can see this being someone’s signature scent. Professional, put together, but very modern. Wish it didn’t give me issues!

bluesunshine

A staple cold weather & work appropriate fragrance. Classic, cool & aloof "modern chypre". The patchouli & leather base very tame to my nose, not dirty or earthy. Perfect for days when you just can't be bothered about deciding which scent fits a classy & elegant vibe. 9.5/10

Sirena78

This perfume morphs so much on my skin. Overall I like it. I do get the leathery smell as well as some earthiness but still quite sophisticated. It has been YEARS since I've smelled it but for some reason in a certain point in the dry down I got Liz Claiborne...perhaps the oak moss. It is a nice cooler weather scent and a bit more of a mature and sexy scent IMO.

**Update** BV has grown on me so much. I do not want to be without this stunner!
I now have Gris Dior and I can see how there is a comparison as when I first sprayed GD i immediately thought of BV. But side by side while there is a similar note in both they are quite different. BV is leather and sexy and would be a woman in designer fashion forward clothing while GD is more rose and powdery and a very well put together woman in feminine clothing. Despite a similar note somewhere in each they are different enough that having a bottle of each would be warranted.

Jacquis

I received my Bottega Veneta EDP recently and it is a beautiful, full-bodied cooler weather perfume. Performance is great and, forgive me but, this is remarkably similar to Rihanna's Rogue EDP. Despite the notes, I smell dark plum and leather. Performance might be different between the two but both perfumes are generally too heavy for the FL sun.

AnotherDabbler

I don't get any masculine notes from this (that would be like Norlimbanol or some other mens shower gel notes?) but find it very dusty and formal. It doesn't literally smell like suede to me but has a similar texture if that makes sense. It feels dry to my nose, maybe due to the pepper notes. Drydown has some slight sweetness to it (also patchouli, yay!). Although I really like to smell it I have no idea when or how I would wear it, it feels too serious and stiff for me. It's very classy, and would be great on a lady who wears pantsuits and owns horses. But that's not me.

SeauxGood

I’m trying to like Bottega Veneta, but on me, it smells very masculine. The bergamot in the opening borders on sour. The pink pepper in this one does not take on the peony-like tone it sometimes does in other fragrances. Instead, it genuinely smells like pepper. Paired with the bergamot, it’s very biting. Almost harsh, even. The jasmine note is “meh,” nothing to cheer about. I don’t really pick up on anything floral in this fragrance, which is kind of a let down for me. I’d say the leather and oak moss in the base are really the stars of this show. Upon testing it, the bottle presentation actually makes sense. The creative director said he envisioned an old library with leather-bound books and the smell of fresh cut grass wafting in through an open window. That is a rather specific scenario, but they pretty much nailed it! Leather and dead grass. It dries down slightly sweeter, but it also smells like something stale. (The moss maybe?)

This is the kind of fragrance you wear because you like it for yourself. There’s an austerity here that kind of says, “I don’t care if other people like this.” That can be okay in a fragrance, but I don’t even like this one on myself. It’s not the least bit inviting or alluring, which sadly is the very quality I look for in a perfume. I don’t dress ultra feminine, but I do like to express that quality through accessories like my jewelry, my bag, and, yes, my scent. Bottega Veneta is not giving me that. Something about it makes me imagine someone whose entire wardrobe is shades of beige and khaki. As someone who likes very feminine fragrances, the androgynous/unisex vibe this projects on my skin just isn’t for me. I would even venture to say it might smell great on a guy.

Gava111

I love BV. It has been by signature for years and always gets compliments when I wear it. The opening spice is beautiful and it mellows into a luxurious private, warm "creamy suede" as @lechicklpea said perfectly after a few hours. I love it from first spray to smelling it on my shirt the next day. A gorgeous fragrance.

lechickpea

This is all about luxury suede - soft, creamy, expensive suede. These also a subtle fruity sweetness in here I can't quite place. It's a beautiful perfume, understated and elegant for any occasion.

Cocosimma

This usvv bc the prettiest warm woody floral perfume I own. Very well balanced notes. If you enjoy that kind of fragrance you cannot go wrong with this perfume.

derliesl

It's a really strange perfume because it behaves totally different on a piece of paper than on my skin. On paper I smell a lot of plummy patchouli with floral leather.

On my skin the opening is alright, with fresh bergamot. Unfortunately in the dry down BV smells like powdery burnt rubber on my skin. My husband says I smell like an old man with a drinking problem.

Notes missing from the description: buttermilk and marigold.

Do not blind buy!

Tulpan

Starts off slightly masculine and spicy, with a strong heady leather/patchouli combo. There is something very enticing about it, that makes it incredibly sexy and good as a night time scent. It is a scent for a confident and strong woman that knows what she wants.
Personally it is not for me as I do prefer gourmand fruity fragrances, which is very different from Bottega Veneta, although I do wish I could pull it off as it so sexy!

Coquita

This chypre projects a seriously no-nonsense vibe: it just screams all work and no play. It doesn't have much sillage, but it lasts all day as a skin scent, making it a perfect office scent for whenever you need a confidence boost in that area (think Miranda Priestly in The devil wears Prada).
The perfume itself is quite linear on my skin, mainly suede and oakmoss, with a bit of pepper and patchouli. I don't get any of its sweeter and gentler notes, but it's ok like that, as I believe it's aloofness is what makes it stand out.

8/10

Forbiddenjade

Class with capital C.

Noticeable, and yet demure. Sophisticated with its gentle leather and mysterious paper like embrace - ah, this suave patchouli, what a wonder... *add sigh* .... - and yet, so simple and easy to understand and live.

It's a cashmere jumper, a lover's caress, the feeling of his kiss and arms lingering over you, the tepid warmth of the dying fire when outside is snowy and stormy weather. Makes one dream of all the most beautiful, pleasurable things in life.

A masterpiece, and most definitely a must. This goes beyond the 10/10 for me, I am enraptured and will treasure it forever.

korean_obsession

This is the perfume u wear when u want to be aloof or seen as stand off-ish. Very cool idgaf vibe. You do u, I do me kind of perfume.

dian torres

To fresh vibe , try Bottega Veneta illusione edp for women , very different and a gorgeous perfume 💝💝

Freshvibe

Oh... just received a sample of this perfume through ebay! Have been soo curious and excited about it! Am desperately searching for my next fragrance, but dont seem to find it.
Love sweet spicy perfumes, Also love citrus freshness, looking for sexiness, sweetness , freshness without Being too heavy , headacheinducing or cheap. Had so musch expectations on this One... but unfortunately... Thought I was the cool sexy self assured Woman for this scent, Think I am all those things, but unfortunately this one truly has a ” shut up ” attitude about it, ” I ’ m self sufficient so don’t come close”... but I want to feel all the things above AND being available/ flirty/ attractive. Its extremely fantastic however , that a scent can speak so much.. its truly a unique womans perfume , extremely Classy and fine , balanced but it has an air of ”I’m not interested” over it, and I , again , am looking for being attractive and attract...
I Sense no Leather, I feel the discrete sweetness and warmth Which i like very much, Which reminds me slightly of Mania from Armani Which I once wore, discontonued I Believe, that was a really heavy , spicy , sweet one, Undortunately a little bit too masculine, but this one - BV- has what I believe is the patchouli ( I Think patchouli is a very interesting smell, a little bit difficult since it can dominante ), I am not sure of it is the patchouli , but it drenches the sweetness into a more cold, negative , complicated, Almost metallic scent, that for me - ruins it. Funny enough, it Doesnt ruin the perfume itself, because it is superinteresting and special , but as I Explained, have Never encountered a perfume that SPEAKS SO CLEARLY: ”I am not interested in attracting the opposite ( or the same for that matter) sex, I just want to smell ...very special” . It doesnt speak sex, to me, At all, it kind of blocks those vibes completely.
I Wish the one Who made this with his remarkable craftiness, would do a more fresh sweet inviting feminine perfume with this Class...
My today favourite perfume is Björk and Berries ” never spring ”, Which I love , but has no staying power whatsoever, I Think it lacks bottomnotes altogether. I also like Victor and Rolf flowerbomb, but am looking for a more discrete fresh one.
Omg, the quest goes on... give me Some ideas, so desperate!! Oh also just bought Oscar de rentas Bella Rosa , after a deep and far too desperate plunge in the shelves at the perfume store. A total waste, not my perfume either. This perfume is NOT a blind buy. No perfume is. I was very close doing a blind buy myself but Im so glad I didnt. After the reviews I’ve read,I had a picture of it in my head , it was not at all what I expected. Too much Metal / patchouli (?) is what I get.

truffles

I get raspberries (sorry!), reminds me of Deci Dela.

BoutiqueLove

Completely agree with young hearts review!
This is a stand-offish, arrogant, confident, quiet, chique, old money scent. Dont come near....
I dont detect any sweet or fruit
This is strong gutteral leather with maybe veviter and rose.
This is a very expensive smelling modern perfume
Bottle is 10/10

youngheart

Cool, discreet and serious, almost stand off-ish, this manages to be elegant and evocative without being in any way "friendly". It's very unusual and very few perfumes achieve this "I mind my own business and don't give a $hit about you" vibe without being at all sensual. It could do better in terms of projection, but I guess if it did, it would just be arrogance in a bottle.

Bingo_Crepescule

Initial hit of leather but very light. Very unlike the leather of "cuir" scents, very unlike TF Ombre Leather. This is not in your face armchair. This is leather of a nice handbag. Understated but expensive. There is a brightness to it too that keeps it from the dankness and sexiness of more in-your-face leathers. I don't explicitly smell the bergamot or fruit notes, but I think this is how they are translated - as a brightness that freshens up the leather note. Patchouli is strong and the oakmoss comes through more as a hay smell on my skin. Even though it is leather, it is not stuffy or moldy. It has a feeling of being en plein air. It has a "vintage" feel to it, as well, without turning into "old lady."

Projection is minimal. Longevity is low. A different take on leather.

ninab

Gorgeous, leathery, a little bit unusual. Has some staying power, is not cloying and doesn't smell of everyone else.

I still have it and love it but wish it had more sillage and staying power (it's quite fleeting), however still awesome!

vluvsperf

Smells so expensive and clean! I love this. I got a decant and I cant wait to get a body lotion and a full sized perfume bottle.

Ray Lidya

"A woman from 1950s with her leather handbag" Classy, vintage and lovely!

Nessa60

I blind bought this used based on the notes...notes of suede and leather here is not appealing. Not sure if I just got a bad batch or something....

gweyslabao

I love to read and my dream is to have a private library with dark wood walls and leather seats. This is how I want my library to smell like. I spray this before I sleep to remind myself that despite my difficulties today, one day my dream will come true.

stacia79

This is one of the greatest suede fragrances of all time. At first I was going to write that this smells like a luxury handbag but no, that's cliche. This is so much more than that and it took me some time to see the whole picture.

Bottega Veneta is an aristocrat maybe. She lives a higher end lifestyle than most of us realize exists. This smells old money but she could just as easily be new money. There is a hint of smokiness... if she smokes it's always in private. Her taste is so expensive she does not even know it's expensive... that's just her life.

Wear this with a little black dress and the realest jewelry you have to feel bitchy and beautiful. Wear it with torn jeans to feel the same.

astrakan

Omg, where has this fragrance been all my life? It's stunning! It's subdued but feels luxurious and chic. Something I could wear everyday without smelling boring. I smell a fuzzy suede and an earthiness with something kind of clean. I don't know if my impression of it has been tainted by the description, but this really takes me to Italy. Love!

Edit: I agree that it's an arrogant, idgaf kind of perfume. It's posh but relaxed. It lives in a separate universe from all current fashions and trends, and it doesn't care if you like it or not. But it is at the same time also very much a people-pleasing scent. Nothing I own evokes as much positive reactions as this. Its different without disturbing people.

Elixa

Noble

I have thought that vanilla is a must in a perfume and Bottega proved me wrong...

It's powdery, slightly creamy and slightly sweet.

Some say it could be a unisex perfume and I agree a bit on this, and yet smelling BV on a man would give me a sense of cheap aftershave... On woman it smells expensive and classy

appleorchard

This is really interesting and different. I don't gravitate towards it, but when I wear it, it feels like home. It smells like moss and yogurt with m&ms in it. Weird combination, but it works. Almost like a suede bag with something creamy and tangy. I think of a rich woman. Not a stuffy one, but an edgy one who's well traveled. Equestrian.

Nijntje

Yikes! I had apparently forgotten that I already tried this scent 8 years ago and didn't like it. Bottega Veneta seems perfect for my tastes, BUT, years later it still performs poorly on my skin. There's a very sharp and acrid note laced with bitterness. It's powdery and screechy and sweet. Could this be the jasmine? I quite like patchouli, but somehow, the jasmine-oakmoss-patchoulli combo is an assault to my nose, like stabbing a knitting-needle in my brain. Fresh, green, aweful. I can tell this is a quality perfume from the base, which is beautiful in an uncomplicated manner, but that stabbing high note turns me off in a bad way.

Edit: After an hour or 2 it becomes bearable. Sweet, warm, expensive leather, a hint of the sourness from the leather rounding out, less sharpness, the acrid jasmine letting go a bit of the dusty patchouli. It smells more like an Italian race car now, but unfortunately this one isn't for me.

Lauren528

What I'm about to say really is a foreign concept to my generation of millennial perfumistas. Bottega veneta is an interesting, quite beautiful perfume, sprayed in moderation. If you spray it like a prada, its going to be gaggy. I guess you could say this perfume commands respect.

Cherrybubble

Cartier la panthere is what I'm getting in the drydown of BV but the opening is super vintage! Such a classy perfume.

AlanneSedai

I got this perfume as a tester yesterday with a gift purchase for someone else. I tried it on paper last night and was pleasantly surprised, enough so to just spray it on me this morning and hope for the best.

I am quite blown away. It's such a pleasant scent that I took the tester with me and applied some more once I got to work. Now I can't stop holding my wrists up to my nose and inhaling deeply. It begins smelling fresh, happy and making me smile, then smells like good memories, like warmth, like comfort and like home.

I am always very bad at detecting individual notes, so nothing like that from me. I'm new into this perfume journey, but if I had to say what it reminds me of, it's sitting on a grass field, under an old big tree in a leather jacket on a sunny, but somewhat chilly spring afternoon.

I am considering going back to the store today to get a full bottle.

AliMonet

Spicy, leathery, and surprisingly ... fruity? Instantly reminded me of Swedish Fish. Love it.

rainfairy

I love this perfume. The leather and floral in this is so beautiful. Its a very classy soft fresh scent. I spray this on my hair too. I just love it when the wind blows and get a whiff of this scent. The scent lasts all day, but I feel like this is more of a close encounter scent. When I wore it to work, no one notice it except one day, one of my co-workers gave me a hug and she stopped and said, "Wow!! You smell amazing!! What are you wearing?? It smells divine!" I wore this on a date one night in spring and the wind blew my hair. My date complimented me that I smell so good. I usually wear this on special occasions but it is safe to wear in the office.

gilda.xhoxhi

It's seems to me like a vintage version between Rumer Lanvin and Les Cascades de Rochas - Eclats d'Agrumes, these two bottles in a leather bag. Absolutely beautiful!!

Moreluvr

Throwback vintage! Leather and almost a ashtray note. Reminds me of my Mom's purse when I was a kid in the 70's. In a car with a leather interior that's hot from the sun, all mixed together. You can smell this sunup to sundown. Or the other way around

giteana

What I really want to emphasize here, is that although I'm a vintage, powerbomb lover, Bottega Veneta found it's way into my heart.
It does remind me perfumes of an older era, but at the same time it has a very modern vibe, and I find it very elegant, chic and sophisticated, romantic and sensual and not overly sweet at all.
Although not actually glamourous, it's discreet and ends up becoming a very special, personal smell on my skin.
I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but with all my heart I would call it special.
A very decent and beautiful creation I would gladly wear.

freemangroovy

Anyone who wouldn't like this one, isn't worth reading her/his comments any further.. Better than lots of "so called" niche around.. Fantastic without any doubt.. So don't buy one, some things should be sacred..

Canadiangrrl

I really really wanted to like this scent. I had read a number of reviews that praised it, but it just sits a little too heavy on my skin - leaving a VERY leathery scent. I don’t hang around a lot of vegans, but smelling like a leather belt isn’t really my jam. I’ve tried it a couple of times, and it lasts a little too long for me to really be comfortable with it.

Maybe it’s an acquired taste, or maybe it’s just my chemistry. I sometimes wear it hiking, so I feel like I match the smell of the outdoors.

Sensime

One of my favourite! So elegant and simple. Love it

Liz70

After receiving advice from some wonderful people on the forum, I blind bought a 50 ml bottle of this. It just arrived today and my goodness, how lovely. After an hour, even better. I would have never picked this for myself as it was described as a chypre floral. I can't stand sweet or floral as they turn overly sweet on me, but I get only the chypre with leather, blond wood, spice, a touch of patchouli and strangly, on me, a hint of vanilla to tone it all down. This will be a beautiful day fragrance for me, and would be for any woman wanting an elegant, mature and understated perfume that isn't the usual "feminine" fragrance.

masako_30

If I were born with the gift of art in creating essences and fragrances, I would have liked to aspire of being its creator.
This beauty left me breathless. Idyllic.

s.pellegrino

This may actually be a slightly more interesting version of Balenciaga Paris, which I own and like very much indeed. To my nose, Bottega Veneta is a little more grounded, with some more depth, and with an absolutely fantastic opening. Maybe when I finish my bottle of the BP, I'll repurchase this instead...

sarahherbs

Highly evocative. It may take you a while to warm up to its uniqueness. This is a gem compared to the cloyingly sweet fruit-choulis currently saturating the market. It's sharp opening blends into a creamy background. Reminds me of soft quilted leather and luxury. It's not the intense S&M leather in men's cologne, it's just smoother and more lactonic.

This is feminine without being "girly" High heels clicking on marble floors, subtly inviting but not a pushover, she's definitely not a Pollyanna. She wears a crisp button-up and cashmere scarf; mohair sweaters and moto jackets, black patent leather heels, and pale pink nude nail polish. While I use the imagery of a female, this is definitely unisex.

It does remind me of Armani Cuir Amethyste, which I adore, it's just a little less peppery.

sjtdz

very elegant, very cool, very sophisticated. I love it

i didn't see plum as any of the notes but at the shop when i first smelt it, it said jasmine, plum and leather,

I saw leather and jasmine above though.

it didn't seem as long lasting as i would like it - it was really too soon and i was smelling cardboard

I think id try to get my hands on a sample or something so i can try it out at home and see how long it lasts then

A Suede That is Just Peachy!

Gosh this is a beautiful perfume in every way. Signature worthy. Perfect for any man, woman, or young adult that likes the scent. Not too much and not too little of anything. Well blended and just heavenly to wear.

I interpret this perfume a bit differently than others, this is dominated by pink pepper, fruit, and florals...with a creamy, smooth, lightly powdered suede underneath. I really like the dry lime/bergamot in the top, too. There is a wedge of green "oakmoss" that lasts a few hours, but frankly that's as chypre as it gets for me, I hardly smell the patchouli at all, until far into the drydown. The jasmine is strong, a bit dry and not sweet, and only gets stronger the longer you have it on.

I'm glad that I read up on pink pepper and also reviews and note lists on other website for BV, because this scent is full of lush peachy notes (plum is a note listed elsewhere) and lots of rose, too. I guess that pink pepper is actually extracted from the fruit of an evergreen tree (hence the green notes?) and also will smell like roses. The rose notes are more prominent during the first half of the wear, and the jasmine unfurls later on. The peach stays for the entire duration, fluffed into the florals, and the suede, and the greenish notes.

BV is really just divine. I think that this would smell good an anyone. It's pretty linear but there are tiny little changes along the way. I also love the character of the suede...so soft and creamy you can practically feel it. I love the way this wears.

As an aside note this really reminds me of Daim Blonde by Serge Lutens. This is like DB mixed with Chanel No 5, in terms of how well blended and almost abstract it is. I mean you see notes like patchouli, leather, oakmoss and everything but what you get is something lots more diaphanous that what the notes would suggest.

Anyway, the original BV is practically a modern classic, and for good reason. Wear it if you want to smell elegant and classy and just delicious...

anette1999

Bottega Veneta makes me feel very strong and confident, yet elegant, special, but not eccentric. It is a feminine fragrance, definitely not girly.

Opening is fresh - mostly pepper and bergamot on my skin. It only takes a minute and something warmer, deeper emerges. It's spicy, leathery, but still sleek and somehow soft. Not exactly thick black leather jacket, more like velour, maybe even suede. After some time, some flowers start appearing.

For what kind of a woman is this? A woman in her best years, very confident, always telling people what she really thinks. She's the one always looking stylish, wearing slightly masculine clothes, casual, simple, but still looking crazy sexy. She's the one turning heads, although nobody knows what is so special about her. Her confidence? Her wit?

This fragrance is not for everyone. If it was, the world whould be run by women.

kittymoon

When I first smelled it on my friend, I thought "too severe, heavy, bitter". Now I got my own bottle, how did this happen?! To me it smells mainly bitter and sour. It has weight and depth. Somebody mentioned horses, and I think he's got a point. I don't find it creamy at all, in fact the sourness (sherbert-type) is keeping the scent quite edgy, a little powdery, while the bitterness pulls it down into molasses mode. I'm not sure young girls would like it, or men like it on women, because it is severe. But it tells a story. It takes you on a journey. It's unusual. That's why I got it.

yantiadi

It's one of those scents that brings charismatic appeal. It's softly rich with creamy luxurious leather.. everything is mixed perfectly together. I'd score this 4,3 out of 5

qianwang

The note are already listed above.
This is a very sexy perfume and gets attention every time.
It is opaque, dense, soft, fuzzy, relaxing, hypnotic, intoxicating, stop reading my review, just get one.

enough said.

ivadim

Моят първи истински парфюм, купен след като се влюбих в шлейфа му и си поръчах проби от няколко фланкера. Един от 5-те (е, 10-те), които бих си оставила, ако трябва да избирам:)

selenium_m

Just opened the box. This seems to be quite good blind buy for me. I was intrigued beyond regular but didn't have a chance to test it where I live. This perfume has sophistication of one Hermes to say the least. Although structurally different, on my skin it brings resemblance to Eeau des mareveilles or even Narciso edp. I feel something resinous similar to Eau des Mareveilles and powdery rubbery character of Narciso. No point in comparing really, this is beautiful and well built enough to stand its own ground.
Silage soft. Can't comment on longevity just yet.

elmccullar

It’s powdery leather for sure. If that’s your thing, you might like this. It is most definitely not my thing. It smells smooth & well blended, I’ll give it that.

el-bi

i always wanted to buy this one but it is never on sale.reminds me of cuir amethyste by armani prive which ibought but still haven't opened.
very elegant smell, a mixture of leather and pepper.
reminds me of italy and the time i was strolling in the rome boutiques district where all the clothing designers shops are.
very unique and unusual, worth giving a try if you are looking for a special perfume.

this is the creamiest leather! usually, leather can be animalic and oakmoss can be sharp and prominent. here, the leather is really not fecal in the slightest, and the oakmoss and pathcouli are subdued. if i didn't know better, i would say that vanilla is a note, but i see it isn't. it must be the jasmine that rounds it out to a creamy scent.

i really do like this! always have, but i don't wear it often because sadly, for me it doesn't project/last very long. that said, i think this one is a good choice when you want to wear something nice but don't necc want others to smell it.

it's a natural, feminine, high quality, classy skin scent for me, and I'll wear it more often I think

I have a sample and am wearing now.
Good blind buy - I love it.
Light but not '80s' (my fave!) and not too 'modern' either.
It reminds me a lot, on the dry down, of the patchouli-raspberry of Deci Dela by Nina Ricci .... and a little bit of something, actually yes, something 80s - Chantilly? on the opening.
Ps. This doesn't smell anything to me like the listed notes ..

UPDATE: My original review

What a disappointment. Currently rating 4.15 out of 5, I expected something wonderful. Instead, I have a lingering smell somewhat akin to Cussons Imperial Leather soap. Old fashioned and cloying. This assaults my nose in ways I can't describe. Thank God I only bought a mini.

On the day I decided to give this away, I was wearing it and received a compliment. The person I gave it to loved it. Go.figure!

Iris-Siberica

This perfume smells like Cabochard de Gres due to the leather smell. It is a bit sour also. However I would say Cabochard is nicer, a bit sweeter and a lot less expensive too!

I had this. There was a soaring beauty with good sillage but I hated the underlying sourness from the leather. I couldn’t wear it because of the leather sour component.

Wow. This is definitely high quality, to start with. The longevity is amazing ( put it this way: I put a hat on the day after wearing this, and my hat had been infused with this, and smelt amazing).
It is, to my nose, initially quite floral but the leather (suede?) note is there. As it develops, it retains a predominantly leathery note, but it's not overwhelming to me. This is quite different from other scents I've tried before, and my husband really liked it. It makes me feel classy, polished and comforted when I wear it.
I think the description of a leathery, floral chypre is accurate.

BlackAmberMoon

Androgynous leather skin scent that is beautifully crafted and very sophisticated. Best suited to women over 30. Would smell good on men, too. A modern classic.

After an hour this smells very close to Balenciaga Paris, I smell violets and leathery over the powdery chypre base. This is the best part of the perfume for me. I didn't care for the woody opening, it was too sharp to my nose, but when this dries down, it is heavenly.

God I used to love this. It literally smelt like sticking your nose into the best and most expensive leather handbag (i.e. a Bottega Veneta bag!) but mixed with warm skin and cashmere. Yum.

BUT something happened to my skin chemistry and I just cannot wear anything leathery anymore, both this and Serge Lutens Daim Blond now get really animalic and acrid on me. I still love the smell of it on others though. I've given my bottle to mother who loves it and who I love it on. Happy endings all round. But please do test this if possible as it does do very different things on different people!

This has a very peppery opening. The pink pepper and patchouli give an impression of an unlisted black pepper note. Simultaneously, the sweet fruitiness of the pink pepper is coming on like gangbusters. Maybe it's the bergamot, but I am also sensing a heady, herbal Earl Grey tea effect.

The leather is very prominent in the opening as well. I keep getting puffs of a slightly indolic, bitter, animalic, "horsey" smell. Lest this gives the wrong impression, I do mean a clean and well cared-for domesticated animal; this does not smell like a petting zoo!

Still in its early stages, Bottega Veneta resembles the effect of a fading Angel Muse, when all the high-calorie notes have evaporated and you're left with a luxe-yet-gritty patchouli and vetiver (again, not listed) cocktail.

In the first hour, BV is now alternating between fruity, creamy, and bitter to see who is going to come out ahead.

Later… Okay, I think I have placed this one. It smells like Chance by Chanel EDP plus lots of leather.

I'm not the first to say it; I won't be the last -- This is a virtual-reality suede bag in a bottle. Very cool!

raiza1990

I do not like this one. It is citrusy and powdery. i also get leather, but it is not the kind of leather i like. It smells a bit masculine and dated. i will gift it to someone who may enjoy it more than i do.

P.S: Projects very well. Can't talk about longevity yet.

OMG, this is goooood!!! I bought myself a 100ml refill EDP bottle because it was a far better deal than a 1.7 or 2.5 oz, and I figured I just want the juice so I'll use my own atomizers.

Leather woods. Soooooo good. The patchouli isn't too strong/noticeable, so I'm happy there.

This is so rich (thick, not referring to the $$), cozy, and classy! I absolutely love it! I wish I got more green-oakmoss, but I'm overjoyed with this in it's skin-state (applied to wrist with a dab). A luxury leather handbag and woody-shavings. It is absolutely as the designer wished (his description above). A new favorite of mine for sure! I'm a former gourmand fan, but now I adore the classics and vintages. And since I'm obsessed with leather notes, this was a long overdue blind buy.

Wonderful lasting power on fabric. Lasts thru the wash!!
