It's aromatic, green, slightly citrusy, gives elegant vibes. Very on-brand for Bottega. Could be a signature scent, but imo works best in the warmer seasons. Natural and quite unique scent in the same way Chloé Nomade -line is, in my opinion.

Opens quite clean and I wish it stayed that way, but on my skin I could not get past the medicinal-like sweetness that follows on drydown (tonka bean?). After being under general anaesthesia, I had this sensation of smelling something sweet and medicinal for days following. This tonka-bean drydown mixed with the greenness was too similar to that memory, so I had to sell it few weeks after purchase.

mirrorghost

this opens with a green fig and bergamot followed by olive tree and orange blossom. it's a green, figgy olive tree with hints of orange blossom. a nice olive/fig perfume for warm weather. later on it warms up a bit with a hint of sweetness but not too much.

The Scentimentalist

Soft smooth but energizing opening, very pleasant! The middle phase gets more herbal and somehow reminds me of Gris Extreme Purity - a similar combo of fig and tobacco. I like the opening more than the middle and drydown. Not bad but not outstanding.

To the ones who make the perfume: make it last longer please! Make an intense version! 😭😭😭 I finally found my everyday signature, unique, fresh and sophisticated but I am to broke in this economy, madame, to overspray it. 💰🧐 So please make it happen! ❤️ Perfect summer scent! Smells rich on an exotic beach! 🏖🌊⛱️

i only smell heavy white flowers 🤨

Demi Rawling mentioned this scent few times in her videos and i decided to blind buy it, since it's not available anymore in stores to test it out. And im happy that i did! I love this perfume so much!
Initial spray on my skin is green but after it settles down it becomes more warm and sweet and those green notes are not as strong.
This is sophisticated but not too much. I can wear this anywhere. Very versatile scent.
I feel like this doesnt have specific age group, any age can pull this off.
This is light scent, which i like. I got days when i dont need strong perfume. I just want to smell nice and fresh.
Lasting power is not the greatest but i still got good 3 hours on my skin. It's mostly a skin scent, sillage is not huge.
Edit. My coworker complimented me that i smelled good, after 7 hours of applying this scent. So i suppose i just got nose blind, this perfume lasts decent amount of time.

AUyliong

Very interesting and unique scent. Smelling it from the sample vial I got, I was immediately hit with the smell of tea. Not an oriental tea. A British one. Smells like tea with milk.

I was expecting black tea or earl grey after application but what I got smelling it while it was still wet was the smell of a woman's leather handbag. Not like Bottega EDP but it smelled leathery. After it dried on my skin it turned into a bitter green leaf and the smell of olive wood. This thing brought me back to the smell of the chapel in my old catholic school and smelling olive wood bowls at a Crate and Barrel.

Smell is dead on unisex. It's neither masculine nor feminine. It's just the smell of olive wood and bitter leaves which anyone could rock.

15 mins later, projection seems to have contracted. The olive wood has mostly given way to the bitter green fig leaf. I'm also testing out Balenciaga's Florabotanica at the same time as this. Florabotanica's leaves are bright, lively, aromatic and even effervescent. Here, the leaves are heavier, darker, sober and serious. There's some orange blossom there too but it's so faint.

1hr in I'm getting what smells like lysol. If I sniff closer - nose to skin - I'm getting the bergamot. The greens and the woods are gone.

1hr 20 mins I can detect some of the blackcurrant but it's so deep in the background. You really have to be looking for it. The blackcurrant is not overly sweet like in say, Tiffany Rose Gold. Like everything in this frag, it's very serious.

With that said, the frag itself is already hard to detect. I think its almost gone. You really need to put your nose up to your skin just to get anything. So it has about the same staying power as that Tiffany that I mentioned. I'm almoat tempted to imagine this as the grown up adult version of Rose Gold.

>1hr 28 mins. Yep it's gone. It didn't even make it 1.5 hrs. Disappointing lifespan ruins what is an interesting frag.

RandomPatterned

I struggle with black currant in fragrances. There is no middle ground, it either makes me nauseous (Lalique Amethyst) or, as in this case with Illusione, it's pleasant. I need to compare the notes within the fragrances and samples I have with black currant to pinpoint the notes or blends that work or not. I like the fruity opening, which dissipates quickly. The dry down is still fresh citrus & citrusy blossoms with green/leafy/slightly woody undertones. Some here mention it's tea like, yeah, I get that. I don't really find the tonka, I will test my sample again. Overall, it's enjoyable/low key classy for casual day use. I don't think it projects much or lasts long. I'd avoid if you aren't an orange blossom, citrus, or tea fan like me.
Afterthought, I need to do a comparison to Hermes Un Jardin en Méditerranée. Also, as an alternative to buying a full bottle of Illusione, I might try layering either Ferrari Bright Neroli or Banana Republic Neroli Woods with Ferrari Noble Fig or Solinotes Fleur de Figuier.

qianqian

Screechy and cheap smell on me. Resembles the cheap shampoo I used when my family was in poor financial condition in my childhood. Big no for me. Cannot tell any bergamot from it.

MyScentBubble

Lovely smell but too leaner for me, it never changes

TunyaPe

I get more of green ‘neroli blossom’ rather than orange blossom, then faint hazy fig, and a little bit of petitgrain. And I’m glad that black currant doesn’t make it too fruity in this one. Illusione is more aromatic floral than green. It’s quite cold and airy rather than warm, so it works all year round, not just in summer. A bit soapy and aquatic, I get very light jasmine and even lotus petal mixed in, in the drydown – this phase is so beautiful! Also, wouldn’t say it’s naturalistic, even though it’s not tarty, as it’s got a bit of designer edge like the upvoted Ange Ou Demon Le Secret. However, in terms of how it projects, I get a lot of cloudy and very airy sillage like Elie Saab; perhaps this quality is from IsoE not mentioned.

I really enjoy wearing this (sample) – it gives that zen-ness and relaxation without being too meditative as though I'm sat in a serene oriental pavilion next to flower bushes near a lake covered with lotus flowers while watching a waterfall (holding a Bottega Veneta clutch, maybe??).

livprn

Unique, lovely and criminally underrated!
This is a scent that is very true to the notes listed - what you read there is pretty much what you get! I can detect every note of the list in quite similar intensity - yet I find this to be masterfully blended and harmonious. Illusione is a semi-sweet juicy green fruity-floral without any harsh edges. It‘s a fresh perfume without pulling overly citrusy, aquatic or sharp - it does have a green-bitter aspect formed by the fig leaf and the olive tree, though. The tonkabean provides a little bit of sweetness and ties everything together to a beautiful fresh, but very feminine scent. The besaid juiciness from the bergamot and black currant is almost mouth-watering; combined with the tonka I feel like that‘s what draws people in. The bitter, sort of herbal notes create a nice refreshing twist.
Illusione feels sophisticated and natural, fresh and put-together, happy and energetic. A keeper.

artsymom

The dry down of this smells almost exactly like Chloe Nomade edp on me. This is a little softer and a little less sweet. I love the citrus note at the beginning and I did notice the faint coconut smell of the fig leaf for a few moments. Sillage is pretty strong but longevity is not great.

O+M+D

I get sweet tea from this. Sweet, clean, fresh. Impossible to dislike but too inoffensive to fall in love with.

But then the dry-down smells like putting your nose right into a brand new book... that sweet type of page smell. And that might be worth it in and of itself.

valelita

Smells very nice and clean, almost like a nice shampoo. There is a sparkling quality to it. Clean. It has little to no projection and doesn't last very long. Non-offensive scent.

Mghen

I simply love this perfume, it's slightly green and fresh in the opening then turns sweet and smooth in the dry down. It's soft and feels high end and unique, not a common scent. My only complaint is that it doesn't have huge projection or longevity but I don't mind replying. Love it!

Allybabaa

Oh my GOSHHH this is everything that D&G light blue should’ve been and more!!! People LOVE this scent and it leaves the most amazing scent trail. Someone actually thought I was wearing light blue from the scent trail, ha!! It’s like a hot summer day in Greece and you are about to take a dip in the crisp mediterranean waters. Summer perfection in a bottle.

schatzrose

What an underrated gem! I’m so glad to have discovered this recently. My current favorite Youtuber Leni (Leni’s Scent) was mentioning it on her channel and I had to buy it immediately. It smells like freshly washed clothes in a softest and sweetest way without being soapy or sharp. Should have ordered the biggest bottle right away…darn.

MHScently

Oh wow! This is angelic, pure and uplifting. I knew I would like it by the description alone - but was surprised at how it caught me off guard, I was not expecting this. It's a summer day: sunshine and fresh air - delicate and bright and soaring through clouds but touching and skimming oceans. If this scent were a tune it would be Orbital 'Halcyon' (On and On). Part of me wanted a bit more depth - some balanced earthiness to ground it but then I reconsidered. This scent is sweet - in terms of innocence and playfulness but does have a warmth that brings longevity and a smile. It's a choral harmony. I'm in love. But wait - Bottega, where did it go? It dissipates too quickly. Please, please work on that. This is divine beauty. A must try. In a word: delightful.

ChristieGilbrook

I think this fragrance is so under appreciated!

It's so unique, but without any off-the-wall notes that are difficult to wear.
Its very clean and refreshing but also sophisticated and bold.

I don't agree that this is only a summertime fragrance as it has some bold, warm notes which make this really versatile.

singlehandedbeauty

When I tested Illusione on paper last year, I thought it was pretty but completely dismissed it. Last week I decided to give it a proper wear and I am IN LOVE! It's so incredibly well-blended. It has a backbone while also feeling airy and delicate. It's fresh, a little green, I little tart, a touch sweet, with just the right amount of woodiness from the olive tree note to ground it. It's one of those fragrances that you put your nose to and don't smell much but can feel it wafting around in your scent bubble throughout the entire day. It's mesmerizing and the bottle truly captures its unique dichotomy.

Xela_529

This is really good! I feel like I’m transported to the Greek Isles with this fragrance. That Olive tree note is just fascinating. Bottega is seriously an underrated designer.

snoopy2

Agree with the review below mine. A pretty, green scent without any bitterness. Not sure if it’s the fig leaf or the olive tree that gives this its uniqueness but I like it. Unique without any unpleasant or weird notes. Definitely a warm weather scent, it’s quite light. So nice.

Hannehoney

Very italian! This opens with a bright citrusy bergamot and black currant, the fig is in the background which gives it a aromatic touch. Something in this reminds me of Chrystal Noir by Versace. Fresh and spicy, it turns sweeter as it dries down. Smells amazing on the skin, I love it :) Its slightly masculine and it smells expensive. Could be a sinaturescent and in my opinion it works for any season.

Jeswes89

I'm not a super fan of green/citrusy scents. But I love this one 😍! Got it as a gift from my boyfriend 🥰 it reminds me a lot of Dior Fahrenheit for men, but in a softer way, with a hint of sweetness to it.
I can smell a bit almond there as well?
It's fresh, light, bit woody and sweet. It's so well blended, no scent overpowers the other.
I really like it.
It suits for everyday. Both for work and date. It's a soft, intimate scent. I think this scent works best for spring and summer.
The longevity isn't the best though.

NainaK

Develops from the clean fresh bergamot and green "cucumbery" notes to warm sensual tonka bean and woody base leaning closer to the skin. Perfect to the day in the office - night out - one application from the same bottle, drastically changes in its own pyramid. Very different from the mainstream on the modern market. And the bottle design totally doesn't fit the fragrance style, to my mind - it shape is too heavy, and this perfume is on the lighter side. Gender perception is fluid - would totally work on a woman, man, etc.

Asikka

I got the Illusione sample today with my order and I'm testing this perfume. It's pretty cold, cloudy weather outside. Illusione just doesn't fit this aura. It smells like a suntan body lotion. I don't know why I'm getting some coconut note in here. I don't get any orange blossom or olive tree. Perhaps I should give it a try during spring or summer.

intoxicatinggourmand

I was unsure about this perfume at first. Today was my first day wearing it out and I have to say, it gives my chic fashion blogger who's getting tea on a rainy spring London morning. It is classy, elegant, yet suitable for everyday. I mostly smell the fig leaf with a hint of bergamot to brighten up the scent and tonka to add depth and sweetness. I love a scent that can tell a story. Although it's edging toward winter, I am excited for spring to arrive just to wear this scent.

Ricka

Scent wise it's perfect. Very chic and faminine, clean and inviting. Problem is with the performance. It's the wickest in my collection and I'm afraid this one will have to go. No one wants to reapply after 90 minutes, specially in this price tag.

Leah0026

Illusione for her is a soothing aromatic bedtime scent for me. This woody fresh spicy watery scent is so intoxicating and relaxing. The opening is very tart and green, but quickly moves to a smoothly blended fig and orange blossom combo with a woodsy base. If it’s a maybe on first sniff, I would recommend giving this a good trial. It definitely grows on you. As many others have commented, it smells expensive and sophisticated.

bilgesuluk

I got it today even though I went to get another parfume I came back with a bottle of illusione. I love it. It opens with green notes for few minutes, which reminded me of DIOR Fahrenheit, and therefore, I believe it’s more unisex than female. Yet, 10 mins later, it turns into warmer, woody taste, following with fresh and soapy smell.

supermama

This is so pretty. Summer holiday in Crete smells like this.
You just take a sun bath at the beach. You have your sunscreen on. And you walk into a local supermarket which has all kinds of fresh fruits on the shelves. A lot of olive trees in the neighbourhood.

Smell like a warm hug

Amazing. Really nice, everyday scent that still is fairly unique. I'm not sure if it's the best descriptor, but it smells really elegant and put-together in the most relaxed way possible. Perfect for spring and summer, maybe even fall.

lihik

This is honestly the best perfume I've ever smelled in my life. It's sophisticated, interesting, nuanced, classy yet edgy and frsh. This will suit a business setting, a dinner, a formal event, a day out running some errands - if I had to chose one perfume to use for the rest of my life, this would be it. I wish longevity was a bit better on me, but tbh it's probably my skin's fault seeing how most perfumes fade on me after 2-4 hours max. And the scent is worth reapplying.
But don't get it, let me be the only one smelling so good ;)

coraline28

I just bought this perfume today. It's very fresh and on my skin it smells floral, fresh, orange blossom, a little bit like grass and woody after a while. I'm no expert but i would say it is quite unique and it smells expensive. I don't think it will give you headaches because it's very fresh. I think this one might be my main perfume for a while. It's nothing very special but I could see myself wearing it every day in this summer. I think it might be a compliment getter. The smell is definitely pleasant. However, I' not sure if it will last long or if people will smell it. It's not weak but I don't know how long it will last. I'm glad I bought it. Very elegant and fresh!

My description for this perfume would be: dinner at a fancy terrace + near the ocean + there are some trees, plants nearby + in the summer - maybe in Greece

Works perfectly on a younger person + it's for every gender (every perfume should actually be unisex:))

GiulianaC

This shines its best on the skin. I wouldn't describe it as green: it has more of a dusty rose satin nuance. It has glistening perfumed water, clean skin, the freshest hint of bergamot and the most sensuous and natural olive tree base. It's bright but soft, dreamy; it's a lazy nap taken under a fresh patio in early or late summer. Beautifully Italian. A really underrated gem, the whole concept, bottle and fragrance are to die for.

menmen

Gorgeous, gorgeous girls wear illusione.
It's just elegant sweet citrus. Very wearable for a lot of occasions. Must try if you're a freshie person!

Marjolein_deud

No unisex for me but way to masculine. My body chemistry won't co-operate with this parfum. Although it's freshy and sportive, I gave up trying after wearing it a few times...to strong, bitter and sour.

ATC

It's a warm, wet, raining morning today, and I get pears, fig, tea leaves and some sandalwood notes. Initially feminine and gradually unisex as it settles down. It develops within 10 minutes and have a bit of depth. However, both the sillage and power are weak. Longevity is almost non-existent. I love BV parfums, but this one smells rather generic and ordinary. May be it's the chemistry on me? It feels like a ghost - it is there but you don't feel it or see it often. It appears one second and disappears the next. Or perhaps may I describe it as a weak, choppy wi-fi connection - quite annoying indeed. Not as good as I would have expected. Suitable for the summer due to its lightness or as a scent in the air, but not on my skin. Despite its relatively low retail price, I would have rated it as over-priced given the poor performance.

Jacquis

Bottega Illusione is what I would call "a citrus perfume with substance". Without looking at the notes, I would guess that this perfume opens with citrus, sweetens with orange blossom then dries down to a nice, slightly spiced, leather/suede. It is mostly transparent but has a firm ground in the base. More resinous and "oily" than an EDT. Now that I see the olive tree note......yes, I can feel the essence of something related to olives. This perfume sticks to my skin for hours and hours (in 90F, mod. humidity weather). Feels like an EDP of a fragrance in the Jardin series by Hermes. If you like that unique type of transparent fragrance, you probably will like this as well. A great addition to my collection. Gorgeous.

stargirlinterlude

This is a lovely spring/summer fragrance for citrus lovers!! I tried this on at the mall without knowing the notes & it dries down very citrusy, which does not compliment my skin sadly. But if you’re into citrus scents I would definitely recommend this, it smells very sweet but clean, not sickly sweet (probably due to the fresh & woody notes) it’s a very sophisticated fragrance.

mejevika

Smells like a holiday in the Mediterranean. Might buy a bottle for the summer.

Search and Discover

Elegant and sensual! I took a risk on a blind buy based on my love for the original BV for women. Not a Knot fan, though. Hope that helps if you're not sure about Illusione. I think the name is apt, as this is a light, transparent scent that goes on like a veil and implies (rather than shouts) beauty and good taste. I don't detect any single note, but in total I would agree with the listed components. The feel is lightly green and woody, with a subtle dark berry and fig. Absolutely captivating. Perfect for every day, especially as the weather gets warmer, destined to be a "go-to" everyday reach in the morning. Wish it lasted longer before becoming only a skin scent -- wish it were available in a purse spray so that I could re-apply at work in the afternoon. Just bought an extra, discounted bottle online since it looks like this isn't selling too well at the department stores in the U.S. and worried it may become hard to find.

danny777

Wow, I can't believe I almost returned this one! When I tested it out at first I had mixed emotions about it. It starts as a very green, then develops into a sweeter black currant berry type scent, and finally settles into its tonka and woody base. At first, I thought this was too green and too musky but the more I wear it the more I fall in love with it. It is nothing ordinary it is actually quite sophisticated smelling (not in a mature way at all though!), yet also not offensive. Very beautiful green, woody, berry scent for everyday use. On me, it lasts quite a few hours so I'm happy with the longevity.

mayberry

I think it's the best orange blossom out now.

adelaidesandrina

This might possibly be my new favorite perfume. I know i say that a lot but this... this is a TRUE KEEPER!

This smells like a vacation in a bottle. It’s something you would wear when you’re staying at the most expensive villa. Maybe in Amankila Bali!

It really is a sparkling scent. It’s perfectly green.. like wet grass after the rain. It’s fruity sweet, but not in a sickening way lmao. It’s naturally sweet. The opening will lead you to think that this is a fresh scent. But the drydown swerved it completely. The drydown is so cozy. It’s still fresh, but it has this “cashmere”-ey feel to it which i love. Definitely a love at first sniff. Extremely addicting.

kiraj717

Very green in the beginning but just wait for the dry down. The dry down is a beautiful fresh slightly sweet scent.

pennypencil

A sparkling, savoury aromatic scent that stands apart from the multitudes of vanilla florientals being released into the market by fashion houses nowadays. Illusione is clean, transparent and lightly spicy, with a dynamic green aspect. A worthy addition to Bottega Veneta's stable, which is strikingly classy compared to other collective offerings. Whilst it's not a sillage monster, it does last on me, close to the skin, without changing too much.

Dort0625

My gal pal on here that I do swaps with a lot sent me a vial of this in our last swap and at first I didn’t know how I felt about itZ but it’s been REALLY REALLY REALLY hot in eastern Canada the last few….whole summer lol but really this week has been so bad, I live on the ocean so the humidity is something that anyone who hasn’t ever dealt with humidity would absolutely RUN! But it seems like this, sprayed in this humid but laying down in my basement with my fan (still disgustingly hot I will say) but this seems perfect for a beachy, woody, slightly floral and a touch of citrus in just the right places! I didn’t look at any notes before I wrote this because I wanted to go back after I wrote it and see it is the “type” of fragrance I envision it being(again like I always say YOU buy your fragrance and YOU wear it when YOU want, forget seasons times of day etc-you wear what you like when you want to) but it certainly seems appropriate for summer. Love this, and I have a feeling it’s a super expensive brand (had never heard of them) but if I could find it at a good price I would absolutely do it

MrAbbas

Unisex fresh scent. To be honest nothing very interesting going on. We smelled something like this many times before but it works as a refreshing scent. Performance is very bad, especially for the price. Just an out of shower scent to refresh. Pass from me.

WildDove

Illusione is a watery spicy tangerine-like detergenty clean fragrance, very fleeting.

Vanian

It smells very similar to Chanel-Biaritz and to Arancia di Capri Aqua di Parma, like them all equally, not a FB worthy for me though, expected to be more unique.

adelmonaco

Yep!!! I officially cant stop wearing this....bergamot and tonka bean really do it for me in this instance

trosan

It is gorgeous, woody and fresh with a little bit if sweetness. Just felt in love with this scent.
This is the perfume I want to use when I visit Italy. Wish it lasted more though.

Coquita

Illusione is a pleasant perfume where the fig leaf takes centre stage. However, the citric and fruity accords in the opening make it sweeter and more traditionally feminine when compared to other fig classics like Philosykos or Un Jardin en Mediterraneé. Although pretty and perfect for spring and summer days, it lacks the character of Womanity. It projects for a couple of hours, but its lasting power is short considering its price (around 6 h on my skin).
To summarize, it's a sweet fig alternative that can be worn to most occasions but, considering fig perfumes are among my favourites, this didn't impress me much.

7/10

galliashbnw

A fresh and uplifting fig scent with salty and woody facets, a touch of fruit, and a citrus opening. It absolutely channels the Mediterranean in the best way, and leans more feminine than other fig scents like Philosykos. Lovely for summer, and longevity is good given this is not a heavy scent.

delightme5

Needs more than the first 5 mins to really feel the sweet black currant come through, which continues to shine throughout its wear...which is not extensive. There is a soft milky fig like sap hiding behind the not too sweet, (not gourmand) soft herbal like facade.
This glows with a little green sharpness.. and again.. the black currant, in a good way !
It would suit anyone up for a teeny sweet like grown up succulent, needing a change from a lolly pop - foody like gourmand.

catswearingperfume

I bought a little dabber mini of this to see how it smells.

Illusione is tart, aromatic fruits and woods with a bit of green. I enjoy this type of scent profile and I really like Illusione. It's fresh, subtly sweet, a little herbal.

The only thing that made me hesitate before picking up a full bottle is that it does remind me a lot of another perfume I already have in my collection — Ange ou Demon Le Secret by Givenchy. I adore Le Secret, the bottle I currently own is probably my 6th or 7th over the years.

Illusione isn't an exact dupe of Le Secret, but it's very similar. Side by side, Illusione is more herbal, aromatic, and the base is subtler, more reliant on the soft musk than the woods. Le Secret is sweeter and the citrus is more prominent. Le Secret also projects a bit more and lasts longer than Illusione.

At the moment, I think I prefer Illusione, it's more sophisticated and refined than Le Secret. But perhaps I only feel that way now because Illusione is offering me a new spin on an old, well-worn, favorite.

All differences considered, if I smelled one of these two on someone else, it would actually take an awkward amount of sniffing for me to discern which of the two they were wearing!

Kanutten

Fresh, soft fig leaf. Sophisticated, unique and smells very natural. It's herbal without being grassy. This is both elegant and sporty at the time.
It was stronger than I expected after having read the reviews, so projection is good. I got 6 hours out of it (I have skin that tends to hold on to fragrance quite well).
This is a little gem:)

Edit: I have worn it more and on one occasion I actually managed to overspray (since it's known for being somewhat "weak" I applied a couple of more sprays). I clearly underestimating its power. The fig leaf followed me around all day to the point where it started to annoy me. Lesson learned. Projection is really good and longevity is not an issue on my skin. High quality, super natural smelling. I might have smelled something with the vibe from the Philosykos line.
Highly recommended.

perfumesniffer

this is a lovely little aromatic leafy green fruity fig scent - its natural and realistic as opposed to synthetic. it’s refreshing and perfect for those warm, humid days when you can’t imagine wearing anything sweet or heavy. reminds me significantly of Hermès Un Jardin en Mediterranee.

be aware that it lasts all of 1 hour tho - then poof, completely disappears. I bought a 7.5 mini and with the way it vanishes will definitely not buy a fb.

pjspaceshit

Beautiful grapey orange blossom and fig scent on a woody base. In order to get good longevity and sillage you need to overspray a little, but then it packs a punch. Will be great for summer.

Also pretty original scent, I haven't smelled something too similar even though I have tried a lot of fig fragrances.

mermaid_

Background: I don't like sweet scents/ strong vanilla/ honey /strong florals. I prefer something that won't be worn by everyone, and I found it, This is my signature scent. But I am desperately trying to find a scent that is similar (among mainstream brands), because I can't ship it from anywhere, and it's not sold in my country. I CANNOT find anything that envelops me and makes me feel the way this does. Sillage is okay for me, longevity meh, unless I just got too used to it. But if I could, I would buy bottles of this and spray this every few hours, it's so worth it for me. If anyone knows of a mainstream dupe, please let me know!

CurrencyThat

Cool, green and spicy. Opens with a citrusy sweetness then transitions to an airy, tarty green as it dries down. That tartness goes away and what stays is an earthy and cool, slightly sweet, slightly spicy scent. This fragrance can take on a masculine undertone to certain noses so I'd advise sampling before buying. Overall it’s certainly unique.

This is a really beautiful fragrance for spring and summer. I’m surprised that pink pepper isn’t one of the notes listed. I definitely get a slightly spicy “scratchy” note in the first few minutes, maybe it’s the olive tree note. I don’t think the black current is too syrupy sweet, it just nicely compliments the fig leaf note. I usually don’t like really fruity fragrances and this doesn’t come across as that at all. The dry down is woody and sweet and sits close to the skin. I sprayed a little on my hairline and really enjoyed picking up wafts of orange blossom through the day. Illusione is really nice for day or evening wear. It can be casual and sophisticated. If you would like to try a light modern chypre, this is a good candidate.

I found this beauty months ago and purchased it recently. Tested it on my wrist and on paper, too. Surprisingly it lasted longer on paper than on my wrist. I love the smell of it but it's gone after 1-2 hours. It really makes me sad because it is a beautiful scent and reminds me of seaside vacations, especially in Italy. I'll use it anyway but its longetivity is a disappointment.

DarlingNikki

How strong is the black currant in this? I hate black currant with a passion (smells like cat pee to me), but sometimes a fragrance is so well-blended that it's not noticeable (or barely). Trying to decide if I should shell out for a sample or just bypass it.

This perfume is a unique standout from the fruity florals and gourmands that seem to make up the majority of recent popular feminine scents. A beautiful woodsy fig - not overly sweet. Immensely captivating and well balanced. I look forward to trying other fig based perfumes to compare.

Kgkewl82

I love this fragrance.. A nice Chypre fragrance that give this earthy/fresh aroma with a sense of class and sophistication. While the fragrance fades after a couple of hours, I still love and spray on my cotton scarves to keep the fragrance on me longer. Very lovely.

Taxidermy

To me Illusione smells like a fig-based variation of Ange Ou Demon Le Secret. What's not to love?

bmonkey

I agree with Freshvibe. This fragrance smells very masculine to me, and is very heavy, it gave me a headache. The notes I notice the most are the fig leave, bergamot and woods. In my opinion this is a fig fragrance.

SailorV

Illusione is a beautiful chameleon of a scent. Every time I smell it, a different note dominates the fragrance: The fig leaf, black currant or orange blossom or a combination of them. It's fruity, floral, fresh, green, fluffy, slightly sweet and sometimes even woody.

I think this is perfect when you want something summery that is neither a fruit cocktail, nor a simple cologne, but somewhere in between those.
The black currant and bergamot are juicy and sparkling, and combined with the green fig leaf the whole scent also smells like fresh figs. I really enjoy fig scents that are more on the fruity side and not completely green and milky, just a little bit. The blend of orange blossom and tonka, which is soft, creamy and reminiscent of almonds here, makes me think of marshmallows without turning into gourmand territory.

At first I found Illusione a little undefined and wasn't impressed, but after a few tries it grew on me so much. It changes dependent on the weather and developes from fresh to warm on my skin. The name is very fitting for this shimmering scent that shows you different facets so you can't be quite sure what it really is.

This is beautiful from the get go. It's bright and fresh herbal and dries down to a light magical still herbal scent on me. It's very elegant.

Maria Sköld-Gustafsson

Beautiful, beautiful! Smells sophistication and richness.

candyuno

Just Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sealt Salt on steroids in terms of lasting power and sillage.

Freshvibe

Had High expectations ,just received a sample , feminine but oh so heavy. Nothing fresh , nothing fruity, nothing citrusy, just heavy heavy , and for me - headache inducing.
Not my cup of Tea. However , helps me realize that I need a more light , playful, fresh, citrusy , fruity , or gourmand type of perfume. Had to wash it Away with my mango scented soap Which gave me a far better olfactory rush. Smells Dated and so heavy . Not at all what I was looking for !

I was immediately captured by this beautiful and unique fragrance, soft, sexy and sophisticated. It doesn’t remind me of anything I smelled in the past few years, certainly it’s very different from the trends of either green or oud or patchouly or rose fragrances I seem to smell a lot these days. It is also very different from the previous BV creations, which I had and loved very much.
The opening is a sweet fig leaf, followed by the most amazing orange blossom and fresh sparks of bergamot, without being citrusy at all. The drydown is very soft and creamy, slightly aromatic, thanks to the sapient mix of olive tree and tonka beans. Sillage is not very strong, but this is understandable because of the ingredients used. It becomes a lovely skin scent, wished it had a better longevity.
This will receive many compliments. I fell so in love with this scent that I bought the body lotion and an extra 75ml bottle.

Angeleyes1978

This is one of my favorites in my collection so far!! Beautiful and feminine with lots of compliments ontop of my enjoyment from wearing which is a huge plus ❤. I'm not good with notes I just know what puts a smile on my face when I smell it and apparently others around me love the scent also

angelica1931

I love this fragrance. It's feminine, luxurious, and sexy. It starts out sweet with a peppery note and then dries down to a creamy soft tonka bean smell. The perfume is modern without being unfamiliar. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this one, and it doesn't seem to be very popular so you will be the only one wearing this gem.

Pussycat1

Such a pretty scent. It opens fresh leafy and green like a light rain in summer, then evolves into a more characterful fresh complex tint of natural white florals, green grass, babbling brook. Soft, gently sexy and could pass for freshly showered skin. I’m not a fan of white florals, but this is special. It evokes fragile beauty in an Italian landscape. Perfect for summer, days, evenings, the passeggiata at dusk. Gorgeous.

quency1

I love this creamy fig leaves creature. A subtle, inoffensive shy scent which is versatile to be used in all seasons and occasions. I love fig leaves scent and I have many perfumes with this note but this one is the best one.

Venusia

Heavily but creamy green, slightly fruity, subtle white flowers with a fine aromatic bitter woody edge. I only like fig if there is no sweet coconut touch. Here is perfectly done. Authentic freedom feeling and elegance a la Bottega Veneta. Think Italy! Lovely composition!

ArtDecoStyle

At first, I thought that it's an ordinary but well-done orange blossom perfume, but after a short while, fig leaves took the stage and it became more interesting. Combination of fig leaves with sweet notes started to smell like green little fig jam in the middle phase. Orange flowers came back sweetened on the base. Office appropriate, well balanced elegant perfume. Maybe the best designer perfume released since this summer.

AnitaHendricks

This perfume is slightly herbal, elegant and casual to wear. I like it but I would prefer many other Bottega Venetta perfumes over this one!

LadyPilot

It's an elegant, aromatic scent with deep and strong bitter white-floral background i.e. orange blossom is the dominant note here. Refined, rich, with a hint of blackcurrant. Green notes are there too but their role is secondary here. Definitely worth trying before buying.

tvargova

Reminds me a little of Gucci Accenti for some reason.
Illusione is beautiful and very elegant, although I liked it more on clothes than skin. It's somewhat warm but not really! I can't quite put my finger on it. Pretty good sillage, not so good longevity. Also, got a compliment from my mom who hates almost every perfume I own.
Very tempted to buy a full bottle, it would be perfect for any occasion. All-year-round, day and night. Nice one!

chridela

Recently finished my sample. This is a very versatile, balanced fragrance that can be worn in every scenario. It is not "Knot" but there is definitely some common DNA there. - a certain note that BV puts in its fragrances that I can't put my finger on. Anyway, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an everyday all rounder scent that is mass appealing and classy.

allumez

Illusione doesn't smell like all those LVEB and alien out there, with all due respect. It smells like something else, it is authentic and in a league of its own.
The blend of fig fruit and spices is amazing. I have a big collection of fragrances but this one it is unique. No soap smell (Bottega signature), no unisex vibe like 90% of niches. Just beauty, finesse, sensuality, joie de vivre. People will stop and ask you what perfume you are wearing. Or just sniff and envy your great taste :)
Bottega, I love you for this perfume and 2-3 more.

nannaje

Notes sound AMAZING!

It's rare that I venture into 'Ladies designer' stuff much anymore, but when I do I feel slightly confused by the various versions of seemingly the same scent (I didn't realise the other Illusione was for men.) Flankers seem to be more confusing on the ladies side. Nevertheless I staggered into the ladies section and this seemed to invite me. The figgy opening is luscious and ever so slightly green, but it's no Philosykos, neither is it a throwaway fig, but it leans more towards that. It's a very nice smell but not awe inspiring it has to be said. This is a fantastic brand with a real heritage for considered releases and not just banging them out for the sake of it, or endless flankers. I'd say this is a soft, fruity, musk with a kind of indistinct warmth in the base well all dried down. It has that italian cologne chic, a coastal feeling maybe reminding me of Fico di Amalfi.

missingpuzzle

Starts with a fig splash and then turns into berry sorbet. Notes say it's black currant, I, however, smell more complexity - some sour red currant and cherries similar to TF Lost Cherry.

Juicy and sweet but not cloying, perfect for mild summer. Could have been easily a niche fragrance. Reminds of Amouage's Imitation a bit, thanks to cassis.

Astar

Too green for a typical Bottega, however the signature of the house is easy to detect. Orange blossom and tonka beans add to sophistication, even though the fragrance stays quite green for the whole longevity of wear. Somehow not a fan of the bottle, and the finnicky cap (definitely recommend you against carrying it in your handbag), prefer the original line with the leather knot.

Victoria Regia

I have it on now. It's sweeter and milder than I expected for this brand. Honestly, it smells like water and sugar for the most part with vague green, woody and citrus accents. Very light. I will wear it for another week and will update this review if I change my mind.

raiza1990

Very interesting fragrance. Very citrusy and green. A bit bitter but very nice. Smells expensive and very natural. Almost unisex.
It is not necessarily original, but it is different enough, well balanced and very well done. Really worth a test for the summer.

justchillinxo

Love the bottle and the notes are really unique. Can't wait to smell it.

Runjon

Bottega Venetta is a highly underrated in the fragrance community. I own two of their fragrances for the men's line and they are amazing!
I've smell some of the female fragrances and oh my gosh so so good.
This is definitely not a cheap designer's fragrance house. These are quality ingredients all the way.
