xyophyll

Pretty boring. Smells cheap (because it is).

schnoorzoky

Very comforting, powdery, clean. Not powerful and I like it that way. Not one that I expect anyone else to notice.

tallamericano

Clean, citrus, powdery, unisex, inoffensive. I feel like it’s hard not to like this scent, but it’s also hard to love this scent. Nothing about it makes me want to come back for more, but it’s fresh, cheap, and I enjoy it as a body spray.

kaanc

It smells like nothing and everything at the same time. True meaning of a "meh" fragrance.

aloulou11

it smells exactly like roses . i really love it but it doesnt get noticed at all .

JoopHommeGatekeep

Smell is mid at best, poor longevity and silage. Do not recommend.

FragranceKing31

It's smells soapy, fresh, clean, citrus, i personally don't like it it's smells like cleaning products

barbas

For those who said that it last one hour, try not to buy from eBay. This perfume is heavily counterfeit.

valleyankee

What's not to love? It's classic, complex and inexpensive. It makes a great all-over spray after a shower to keep you fresh smelling for hours. I love when you collect your dirty laundry and you can still smell it in your clothes. I've been been wearing it for years, and years. Big Calvin fan

Marinka71

I inhale CK1 and I'm transported to mid nineties, my youth, smell of many possibilities, great expectations, and sky being the limit.
While I really liked it, it was my then boyfriend and his mom that wore it back then and I would borrow occasionsally.
Fresh, citrussy, green, clean and unlike anything before it. Leans masculine, imo.
The way Angel was a trailblazer for gourmandes back then, so was CK1 for unisex perfumes.

In the meantime, CK1 became a classic and THE scent of my generation (I'm looking at you gen X), at the same time it lost a little bit of its allure along the way and became maybe a tiny bit shabby around the edges (just like the generation it represents 😉)
Ck one, you'll always be in my heart ❤️.

Arantes15

This fragrance is really cheap and smells quite nice. The problem with it is that it only lasts around 1 hour and then the smell is gone. Some people might find it that it smells like cleaning products or laxative. It’s not the best fragrance for summer or spring but it is nice to have in your collection since it has a great value attached to it.

Score: 7.1/10

SissySuzanne

This and CKbe will forever remind me of high school ❤️
I love both scents so much, they make me happy and remind me of being younger 🌜

Caroline D.

I'm not the biggest fan of this scent - I only have a free sample - so I now tried layering it with Green Tea from Elizabeth Arden, a scent that I blind bought but find rather bland... Both have citrus, bergamot, gree tea, jasmine, oakmoss and musk. They seem to go well together.

Mona708

Citrus haters should stay far away from this scent because the orange, bergamot, and lemon notes are the main focus here. When I wear it, there’s also a somewhat resinous accord similar to the one in Lanvin’s Rumeur, but toned down. This, along with something akin to citrus zest and pith, helps set this apart from most of the other citrus-heavy scents I’ve tried so far. It’s got a surprisingly long wear time of about ten hours, too. All in all, I love it and would happily recommend it as a great casual scent for transitional weather (warmer to cooler weather and vice versa).

Lbustos2

I grew up smelling this perfume. It smells like fresh lemongrass to me. It smells like morning dew and rain in the middle of August. I love it so much. It's so cool and clean!

I would say it smells pretty unisex, but it does compliment women very well. This perfume smells like a fresh, cold shower, and Rainbath shower gel.

It does smell like lemon and herbs, but I think that's what makes it so unisex. It's supposed to smell clean, aquatic, green, lush, and crisp.

contristo

i like to spray this on my pants it makes me feel like a frat boy in the 90s and gives me gender euphoria I wish i was joking

VanHessen1234

Hello 90s! Clean, fresh, cool rather chemical blend with some lily of the valley and light musk on base. Unisex. Lacks complexity and elegance.

DistractedZach

powdery and floral. makes it seem very classy. love the smell, but the longevity and sillage is pretty bad

memeplex

Base notes smell like dove soap. Almost no silage.

tu me 👽 manques

Just found a new 15 mL splash at the thrift store for $3, probably should've got the Eternity too. I forgot how effortlessly sexy & easy this is. I'm sure more than one middle skoo crush wore it. Excited to mix with Monsieur Li and Issey Florale this spring/summer, or even some cool water flankers for extra nostalgia. I might mix some into a base/lotion to make it last. I'm obvi a big morillas fan. Great to keep in the car for a splash o fresh. EDIT: I think this dude named jude who looked like usher used to wear it.

sidesalad

This is the smell of the 90s. This is the popular mean girls in the back row of the classroom. I hate it. I still want to punch it in the face 30 years later. This grudge will never die. (But not as headache inducing as when they switched to CK Be two years later).

SmellMasterBoss

Fresh out the shower citrus fruits showergel. Fully unisex, but you are not going to smell unique just a really polite scent.

MakeupNeverSleeps

In comparison to the original formulation released in the '90s, I feel like that which is missing from the current formulation is the metallic iciness (hence the frosted glass) that made the original so clean and fresh and gave us a hint of/reference to fougère energy. Taking that facet away changes the whole presentation and experience and imo, not for the better.

tylerthecreator

citrusy, fresh, and light. you’re 15 about to go on a first date with a girl in your math class. you saved up for this fragrance with your 10 dollar an hour babysitting job. ck one is teenage nostalgia. youthful and perfectly unisex

i was born in 2007 so i can’t say i remember how groundbreaking ck one was when it released, but it’s still a nice unisex citrus fragrance. lasted ~4 hours on me. it’s a little generic in todays market but nowadays fragrances have to do some animalic blood metal note bullshit to stand out lol.

artocross

Flat and generic fresh citrusy fragrance. Cheap and safe for everyday office/school wear, but you won't stand out much.

joaonunes123451

Super fresco e refrescante, mais cara de body splash que perfume, não dura NADA e não projeta, aquele perfume que é só pra vc não dizer que não usou nada, porem o cheiro é agradável a todos

of_assisi

just a heads up for anyone who is boycotting: calvin klein and tom ford both support israel financially and fill settled land with stores and product, which as a reminder, is what most of the companies on the boycott list do, at minimum.

Schnuffke

Perhaps I'm spoiled by niche fragrances, in any case I cannot find this one in the least likeable. It primarily smells of a complex mixture of citruses and laundry detergents. Mandarin and lemon scents are somewhere in it, though it's very hard to discern any specific note. It's overall clean & bergamot-like and at the same time unpleasantly artificial. On the positive side, it is not very sweet. If you haven't showered and want to smell clean on a sunny day, this will probably do its job. For me, it's a hard pass.

RefaEDT

This fragrance will forever remind me of this one girl who used to love it on me. and on her. its my only unisex fragrance. cheapie and fresh. recommend.

bigboipascal

Take ozone, inject it with fake lemon cleaning detergent scent. And manufacture it in the deepest trenches of a chemical lab in china.

This is what it smells like to me. My mom loves it, I don't understand why.

Please try the cologne first and see if you like it. As a guy I don't like this perfume. 3/10

Cedar25

I was given this fragrance in 2020 and originally didn't really like the "bitterness". I picked it up again a couple of years after and now I use it the most. It's fresh and citrusy, lasts about 4 hours while isn't overpowering at all. Great value, I wear this all the time out of the shower or when winding down. Love this stuff.

ihateperfumes

yadayada basic, yadayada boring, blah blah blah... whatever. I love this perfume I wish I could have an IV drip of this absolute ambrosia. Only complaint is the longevity, but the price makes up for it. Alberto Morillas my goat...

nisarsarah9

Due to the low sillage, I had to switch to a dupe of this as I want my perfumes to stay on for long on my skin. :/ So upon a friend's suggestion, I tried #1 by DUA Fragrances. It has amazing sillage and is so affordable, you all should try it out!!

MNadz

Simple, clean, fresh, inoffensive, safe and inexpensive.

Fresh clean sheets drying on the clothes hanger. Longevity and projection are average. Certainly unisex. Best for spring and summer…but could pull it off year round. Easy signature scent worthy and for all occasions.

Although generic at this point, it’s magic rests in how this can still do everything for pennies on the dollar.

sweetsher

Seems to have too much of a nutty smell for my taste. Simply didn't work.

Hayoun

For me it really smells like lemon in bottle. Its kinda cheap so you can get it as a scent for the gym or just wear it super casually in these hot summer days but there are better options in the market.
It does make me sneeze a bit.

katiejon

I was a freshman or sophomore in high school when this came out. I remember the smell of CK One in the halls of my high school, on the shirt of my crush, wafting around in college classes, on my college boyfriend, and in the years that followed. I’m a wife and mother to little ones now, and it is still my favorite scent on a man, and it is timeless for women as well - especially on those stifling, muggy dog days of summer.

It is citrus and cool, without smelling mentholated or like a household cleaner. It’s bright and clean. Truly a classic, and one that would do well in any fragrance collection.

Hieule

I love the scent of it. I would say it is a good one for hot sunny day. However, the projection and longevity is extremely bad and you can buy other pragrances which are cheaper and have much better performance.

Sophia97

My brother got me this fragrance on my birthday and if be honest I thought I am going to dislike it. But amazingly, I really liked this one. This fragrance has become my go-to fragrance, my office fragrance, but I keep have to applying it again because the lonetivity is too less :(

A Refreshing Heavenly Marvel
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Iconic fragrances that capture the zeitgeist often fade into obscurity when they become omnipresent. However, much like The Little Black Dress or Levi’s 501 jeans, CK One by Calvin Klein has retained its prestige despite becoming a mainstream commercial hit. This ingenious scent was revolutionary when it launched in 1994 as a contemporary, unisex alternative to traditional masculine and feminine perfumes.

Nearly three decades later, CK One continues to convert new legions of fans. The opening notes provide an invigorating rush of citrus, with a hint of sharp, synthetic edge that adds modern vibrancy. Tart lemon and orange mingle with a splash of bergamot in an aromatic cascade. As the bright top notes subside, one discovers the nuanced floral heart. It blooms with a crisp medley of gender-neutral white blossoms, with glimpses of jasmine, violet leaf, lily of the valley, and rose – reminiscent of a stroll through New York’s Central Park in spring.

Finally, the clean musk base provides staying power with a skin-like sillage. While not overwhelmingly strong in projection, CK One lingers gracefully on clothing for at least 8 hours. The composition has an effortless balance to it – neither too masculine nor too feminine. Both sensual and practical for everyday wear, it conjures positive vibes. The uplifiting scent encourages confidence and self-expression.

Considering its affordable price point compared to luxury niche fragrances, CK One bests costlier alternatives. Heavenly and feel-good, this ingenious aroma catalyzed the genderless fragrance trend. Despite competition from countless imitators, the original CK One remains a peerless paragon twenty years on. Truly a refreshing unisex marvel that stands the test of time.

ayanamies

i wore this perfume in middle school; it is a truly androgynous scent imo. however it does smell like “fresh scent” laundry detergent to me now. i spray it on my sheets and towels now LOL. the sillage and longevity are not great, but the scent itself is fine.

arnavchelani

Great perfume for the spring and summer. If you love citrus, this is the ONE for you. Great value for money and suits students very well. Smells extremely fresh and for an EDT, it lasts at least 3-4 hours before dying down. Only disadvantages is the bottle which is an absolute pain for travelling as it has inter changeable caps and sprays which allows the scent to come in contact with air very often.

A Solid 7/10

Tarhun

I used to wear Ck Be. Got this for my wife. She liked it. Now i am wearing this. Ck be longevity is low but this one on me has a great longevity. My wife loves this on me and she says it smells far better on me. I like Ck One. Fresh and soft but still strong on me.

ttsib

Not really outsanding and in a 60+ collection I rarely use it as I have favourite summer frags. Still good to have such a classic between the others

NeeNee50

I love this fragrance…on other people. I was first introduced to this whenever I would see a woman I knew. It would stop me dead in my tracks because it smelled so good on her. I finally bought a bottle and on me it smelled like bug spray! I was so hurt. LOL. I gave it away. I still love it…on other people.

smelling.sniffing.swan

Clean, grassy citrus on top.
I get a lot of lemongrass.

Rose stems, light jasmine and freesia soften out the middle quite nicely. All very airy.

The base is white and bright musk and a little bit of green tea. To me this is a very top-heavy fragrance.

This is a wonderful fragrance, truly a great, easy, summer reach for all genders and all ages.

Some of the grassiness leans a touch too clean and soapy for me. Which is why this isn’t quite a love from me.

Also, drawing similarities between this and cheap men’s body wash wouldn’t be out of place, due to way too much dihydromyrcenol.

VERDICT:
Delightful, easy fragrance.
I wish CK would’ve just dropped the soap.

aleckzandurh

What I like most about CK One is the ad campaign which still remains fresh and cool, even looking back on it now. Dazed did a feature on the campaign for CK One's 25th anniversary (wow), so feel free to look that up if it interests you, too!

In regards to the scent, it really is the quintessential freshie: a lively splash of mixed citrus and aqueous florals. 🍋💦🪷It's cooling, refreshing, and perfectly fitting for my personal use (ie. drowning myself in it before I walk into the gym.) It seems CK has a bad rep for longevity, and I have to agree. There's little staying power, but maybe that's what makes it so refreshing. If it hung around for hours afterwards, I don't think it'd have quite the same appeal. So feel free to overspray, and spray again. Either way, it's an enjoyable scent.

Tuvivaj

Evaporates quickly and little to no projection

vox populi

another blind buy based on notes and history and ended up being very pleased with the results.it has so many notes it is hard sometimes to smell what is hitting. it ends up a fresh sweet smell, not overpowering like ouds and leathers. the price is very low for a good quality product. would i buy it again ? yes

Jqwalls

Never had this growing up and never even smelled it until this bottle I just blind bought. CK one is an excellent fresh citrus cologne with a warm and soft sandalwood dry down. It is perfect for any human at any time. Performance is lacking severely just like most CK fragrances I’ve owned but the price at discounters makes up for it so just reapply as needed. If you love this fragrance but wish it was more beast mode check out Atelier Cologne’s Orange Sanguine. That is exactly what it is. 7/10

KJS88

"My dude you smell good?" "Oh is that you my bro? I was gonna ask - you smell fresh af what is that?" CK One just smells fresh, clean, good. It doesn't have the "fresh sun dried linen" edge it had years ago, but it still smells good. Popularity of this one sort of fizzled out by the time I was in high school in 2000s. By then, Acqua di Gio and anything by Lynx/Axe were the go to for covering up BO, sweat, cigarette smoke, and unshowered teenaged boy, so it doesn't carry the negative connotations for me. A citrus, floral, laundry, woody, shower-fresh musk for the ages. Also a pretty good example of how many of those icons of the 90s and 2000s that haven't been totally gutted out or discontinued transcend the decades and continue to smell much more likeable than 70% of what is being churned out now.

mundine

High school date rape.

Mage4Zelda

Jasmine, Citrus and Aromatic. Fresh, Subtle and Pleasant. Its a classic. Probably the best words to describe CK One.

I found jasmine dominating the citrus from the start with the result being a combination of notes from perfectly brewed jasmine green tea and musk. The overall performance of CK One is a short burst of low, tamed and monotonous energy that tends to dissipate fast.

I am glad that this scent isn't long lasting and overpowering - this reason alone makes it one of those rare and pleasant fragrances that is wearable for everyday use without someone complaining and having to consider why you shouldn't wear it everyday. No one might remember this scent on you, however they (and yourself) are definitely going to appreciate that you smell nice. This makes CK One a very safe bet for everyday use.

JensK

Its an ok citrusy scent for the warmer weather but the main con of it is that the fragrances performance. The performance of it is really bad compared to other fragrances out there for example: dolce&Gabbana light blue, versace pour homme and even acqua di gio are much better alternatives for a fragrance like this

sugarhiccup

I got it as a prize for something once and it was my first perfume. Definitely unisex in a good way. It smells just nice, and I wouldn't mind being stuck in a crowded metro with it, but it's not special. I don't hate it. Smells nice enough, but wouldn't wear it as an adult.

It's fresh like citrus, sweet but not nauseating, but no notes stand out to me individually. Maybe because I've worn it so long as a kid, but to me it just smells like CK One. Honestly a solid choice for anyone looking for something inoffensive and accessible, like if you work with children or want to go to the gym/a class/a quick work meeting with people you already know.

Latetothescene

Bal d'Afrique of the nineties. Groundbreaking in it's time yet people seem to forget that (or weren't alive then). Maybe it's nothing special NOW (I disagree but I'll go with the flow here). Respect.

D@ne

I have a plastic credit-card style spray of this. I survived the aquatic 90s, and while I greatly respect CK One, I could never wear it again.

Happy to have as a reference, but that's it.

tooslz

smells like straight up soap

Joshg0240

Classic fragrance, smells amazing however doesn’t last more than 2 - 4 hours. Still would recommend as it’s cheap and great for going out for a few hours.

Great for summer/spring.

(Wear whenever you want as this doesn’t matter too much)

Overall 710 as it’s got poor longevity

I Drop Panties

A clean simple very fresh easy fragrance that is far better than it gets credit for and is an amazing classic from the 90's. Still holds up today but the longevity is an issue. You'll get around 1-3 hours max but perfect for the gym or quick meetings or gatherings as the timing / scent will suffice! One of my favourites!

Clean, inoffensive, fresh, easy and cheap fragrance 100% would recommend!

Crazy Fragrance Croat

This fragrance is really over-hated on social medias, Let me explain.

This is a citrussy summer fragrance and its notes evolve like this:

Starting off you can really smell the citruses especially mandarin and lemon, in the background some flowers like iris and lily of the valley. As it dries down the flowers overthrow the citruses and they switch sides, after about an hour the base notes come into play. I personally only smell the cedar and the other base notes maybe a little.

This fragrance reminds me of a casual Mediterranean summer day with your family walking to the beach under the cedar trees and i would wear it for casual everyday summer occasions. It's youthful and and playful.

All in all a good summer fragrance 7/10

-Specs-

A classic. Enough said. But seriously this fragrance was my introduction to fragrances. This fragrance defined the 90’s and everyone had something to say about it. For me it’s the perfect example of a unisex scent. It’s citrus and floral and musk in the best way. I’d say the opening very bright and leans feminine and the dry down is more masculine and skin scented. It’s easy to find this CKOne at a good price and it’s just as good now as it was 30 years ago.

Antoshka2

I love this as a teen and I haven’t grown out of it over the decades. I’d say it’s a cologne type fragrance because it’s light and citrusy but it is unique and instantly recognisable. Suitable for work, everyday wear and all seasons but especially summer. Inoffensive, safe and fresh. It’s cheap as chips so definitely worth the money or risking a blind buy.

Beslema

Smells like good sunscreen. Kinda a vibe.

candieslove

Got this as a sample, it is not the kind of fragrance that I would buy. It smells simple and very unisex, it is a safe aromatic fragrance to wear from time to time and be an everyday scent for school (in fact i would describe this fragrance as too safe), there's nothing overbearing and crazy about this fragrance. Longevity is ok, just be prepared to reapply every hour. I can see why this fragrance is considered one of the most iconic, this type of fragrance fits almost everyone and is versatile .

lollapaluzaa

it is one of my first fragrances, smells like citrus and fresh, however it doesn't last long, atleast on my skin and really opened me up to unisex perfumes as a teen i wasn't abe to fully appreciate it as everyone wanted us to wear manly scents but it really is like a fresh breeze as i lean to adulthood. it opens as a citrus and aquatic scent (like a soap) and turns floral like rose but the only issue is the sillage and longetivity

Marconzi

My first fragrance. Doesnt last long but has a good smell. Smells abit like cleaning solution with citrus but it gets quite sweet on skin as it dries down. Has a very special place in my heart and I think its a good fragrance to spray quick for day to day activites. As a teenager myself a lot of people will not enjoy this fragrance and make a mockery out of it but I think its pretty good. But not for younger noses. The demographic (people who will like it) are people who have no concept of fragrances and older men who think of this as a classic.

Charlie bowie

Nah, this one is a classic! It smells insanely good. A fresh fruity, slightly green, musky, woody, inoffensive scent.
It is unequivocally masculine without any room for doubt. Absolutely not leaning feminine (or even unisex) in any way.

colsn

Smells like a fresh green woods with flowers and Clorox at the same time.

Is it true? Is this information confirmed? Have they discontinued one of the most iconic fragrances that changed the world of perfumery in the 1990s?

CK One Discontinued: The End of an Iconic Fragrance
By Gillian Page / 5 June 2023

https://perfumeson.com/ck-one-discontinued-the-end-of-an-iconic-fragrance

johnnie_freeze

CK One rates up there with the high-end designer stuff...for a fraction of the cost.

vpace91

Because I was very young in 1994, I don't have any memories or nostalgia tied to this fragrance. So I can review it just based on what it is. I like it a lot. It's very fresh and clean. I like my unisex scents to be airy and not super dense and dark. I usually prefer feminine fragrances but this is a good one that I will wear!

Essie12

Words cannot describe how much I love this fragrance. I had a bottle in my late teens and I have never fallen out of love with this. It's clean, sweet and has amazing depth that you discover throughout the day. On my clothes it dries to a very fabric dryer sheet scent, but in my skin it's a mix of soft floral and citrus.

Thatbwoy

Let’s be honest this was a phenomenal occurrence when it came out in the 90s. I remember watching the national news and it featured! Now think of the last time that happened?

IT hasn’t, not for any fragrance since CKOne.

It’s a fragrance that shook the world. It was ridiculous.

But what people won’t tell you; at the time the collective reaction to smelling it was :

“Hmmm…it’s ok actually”

Critics were hot and cold about it. It didn’t and did meet expectations at the time.

It was a masterpiece of marketing. It tapped into a zeitgeist soo brilliantly it almost created the very thing it was apparently riding the wave of. But I’ll tell you something, I quite liked it when it came out; shit I had a bottle of it but…after a while I gave up on it and turned over to Tommy, and Pi, Polo Sport and 1881.

CKOne is like the brand, just brilliant World-leading marketing and advertising of very Fucking Mediocre products. CKOne is quite ok, there’s nothing wrong with it nor is there anything challenging about it. It’s just there is why you see it on shelves in very desperately depressing places for fragrances to be sold.

I think it would’ve worked better as a female targeted fragrance; but there’s no mistaking it ruled the world for a year or so and very much defines the decade to anyone who wasn’t there.

hpeeters

This is fresh and sweet, almost feminine. I think it’s a great daily wear for any guy. I agree with others that it’s a bit powdery. A good option for a guy who does not want anything too strong and spicy but still wants to smell good.

Spritzofelegance

I should love this fragrance based on the notes, and I used to love it when I first used it around 10 years ago. I agree with the reviewers who say this is a powdery scent over some green notes. The powderiness felt creamy, and cosy.
However, I don't know if the formulation changed, or my nose did, but it smells extremely sharp to me from the initial spray. I also noticed that it retains a very chemical smell that is nauseating and headache inducing for me. It's such a pity.

StardustMoonsong

I've seen this around for years but I've never smelled it. I just tried it at the mall and I like it a lot! The notes I'm picking up on are mostly fresh, green tea and a couple different florals, one that is powdery and one that's a little musty.. maybe the rose? I often find rose to smell musty. It is a true unisex fragrance, in my opinion. I think this could work for day or night, and in any season. I don't know if I would buy this for myself, but if someone gifted it to me, I'd gladly accept.

PeacefulSunshine

I was born in the early 90s so I was too young to consciously remember people wearing this scent in the 90s.

That being said, this perfume is INCREDIBLE!!! (Maybe it's tapping into some subconscious happy memories I had in the mid-/late- 90s?) Fresh yet powdery... I don't understand, since "fresh" and "powdery" are sort of opposites in my mind, but my god CK somehow did it and combined them.

I love musk, cardamom, rose, white florals, and sandalwood so this perfume is a sophisticated dream.

I live in Florida so this is a year-round scent that works in my tropical, citrusy environment.

This is an easy top 3 for me. A masterpiece.

pittam

Lol we all have one Gen X unmarried uncle with unhinged screen time on OKCupid still wearing this perfume.

This scent has a very special place in my heart since its the first i ever bought and i used this religiously for about a year. Maybe im just getting sick of it but it i find the citrus to be so citrusy that its almost metallic. At one point i did think this smelt really good though

A '90s Cultural Icon...

This scent caused a big splash when it came out in 1994, as it was one of the first scents to be aggressively marketed as unisex, and it quickly became a '90s cultural icon, synonymous with Gen X. It's nearly impossible for me to separate the scent from that time period, as you could smell it everywhere. This was, to the '90s, what Poison Dior & Giorgio Beverly Hills were to the '80s Having said that, it's a great classic scent and smells as good to me as it did back then.

Composed by Alberto Morillas & Harry Fremont (this duo also produced Miracle Lancôme with Christian Dussoulier), It's been categorized as a Citrus Aromatic - although for me it's a white-musk scent, albeit a sweet citrus white-musk. There's a lot going on in the notes and it's super well blended, but I'll do my best to describe what I get: Opens with a fluffy, musk with fruity-citrus accents. The signature CK One DNA is already there, but the blend of sweet fruit-citrus in the top notes reads like something close to mirabelle-plum. This blurs into the main body of the scent, which reads like a white-musk. You will catch reminders of CK One in a lot of popular scents, as this scent has inspired a lot of similar scents, but there is only one CK One.

Performance is questionable for a new bottle, but I've had mine a few years and the performance just keeps getting better and better. No complaints here. It's a longtime love for me. Enjoy!

This is the first fragrance I bought with my own money, when I first bought this, I loved it so much that when I went to the airport, I bought 2 EXTRA bottles of it cause I was convinced it would be my signature scent, 2-3 years later and those 2 extra bottles now gather dust in my cupboard. This is a very inoffensive and citrus scent, its very simple and gets the job done, but I just find that really boring now if I'm being honest, I feel there are so many other fragrances similar to this that are just as cheap and longer lasting. I still like this fragrance but after discovering other fragrances, it is one I never revisit anymore.

Today my experiment is comparing the current reformulated version of CK One against vintage CK One. I bought a mini bottle of the current version this past summer and immediately upon smelling it, I KNEW something was amiss…gone was the dry fruity pebbles vibe that even after all these years I remembered about it. Definitely not the same.

My vintage mini just arrived in the mail and I’ve wasted no time in dabbing some on one wrist and the current version on my other wrist. Clearly there is a very distinct difference. YEP…dry fruity pebbles vibe is making its presence known with the vintage. Initially, with the current version, when wet, you can pick up the OG vintage DNA in it, but this rapidly changes, like within a matter of minutes.

The vintage has stayed fairly the same wet and with dry down….while the current reformulated version dry down has taken on a soft, almost baby powderish vibe, absent of ANY fruity components of the OG, and it is fading quite quickly. The vintage hasn’t lost ANY steam on my wrist.

Both have now been on opposite wrists for just about 15 min and they smell like two distinctly different fragrances. What a crazy reformulation!

This may have been mentioned here, but if not, the way the way to tell the difference between an original formulation bottle and a current bottle is this:

OG- One is written across the CK on the front of the bottle/box

Current- One is written UNDER the CK on front of bottle/box

Second fragrance I bought with my own money and I wish I did more research 😂. Bought back in 2018 and definitely the wrong era for this scent, poor longevity, pleasant smell, pretty inoffensive so can wear in most scenarios. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone but if any age group is looking to buy it, it’d be a decent scent for under 18s in the summer but you’re honestly better spending your money on something else.

vilkel

A clean, fresh out of shower type of scent. Though it has many notes listed, I can not pick any in particular, it is more so the simplicity and clean, fresh feeling of it all. Comforting. I skipped on the period when everyone had it, luckily. A true unisex fragrance, I wore it first and now my boyfriend, who had and liked One Summer before, does. The longevity is not great. And yet the price point is, so I would say one of the most versatile unisex fragrances out there.

rachelv

When it first came out in the 90s, it was so popular that everyone and their dog was wearing it. I resisted buying it at the time despite liking it, because I didn't want to smell like everyone else 😅 But now I'm happy to buy it as it's not that popular anymore. None of my daughters like this sort of scent. Being in their late teens and early 20s, they favour floral, sweet scents which are more trendy these days. The strong androgynous trends in the 90s (when women tried to dress more like men and conversely, men had long hair and were more willowy , looked more effeminate and soft) were what kickstarted perfume creations like CK One. Personally this perfume always makes me feel so comforted as it's warm, woodsy notes come in after the initial bit of sharpness. It's never overpowering. Longevity is poor though, I'd consider this more of a cologne.

alexgrenouille

A classic one, is a great value for your money, is fresh, is youthful, is iconic, but ultimately I feel it more synthetic, at the beginning i feel it like a soap, or some kind of citrus freshy detergent, but after that start becoming more interesting. To me reminds me like a L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake, with more shiny spectrum.

neyoangel

This is one of my TOP 5 fragrances! Simply fresh.

DustyMoth

I think this was my first real perfume purchase.
It might be a "common" smell, and there's a reason behind that popularity. It's a safe blind buy and smells how it promises to smell. Perfecty androgynous and not offensive, you can wear it to class, work, outings and anywhere else.

Not for me personally, sadly it took a half a bottle of CK One to discover I don't really like citrusy scents, but I recognise it smells good. And my teen brother loved that half-bottle!

OlfactoryAmbiance

I will always love CKOne. This was my first real fragrance purchase when I was about 14 years old. I wore it all the time and everywhere. It was basically the only fragrance that my super strict parents would let me wear. Living in a temperate climate, I can wear this all year round. It smells fresh, clean, and almost sparkling. Citrus notes don't particularly wear well on my skin but this does and it stays on my skin for abut 5 hours (clothes is longer). This almost always what I reach for when I do want something with citrus.

Sajawa

Citrusy/ clean/ young. True unisex perfume. 90’s nostalgia vibes. Longevity not great. Still a classic.

Husnal

I found my dads and its literally orange/amber because of the years of maccerattion. shi smells the same which is straight doo doo but projects better than red tobbacco. might have to layer better summer frags with it for the projection.

Mohammed Aateef Saeed

This fragrance might be common, but the calm, cool feeling it gives you when you spray it on, is beyond ordinary. I am not sure what the recent batches smell like. This fragrance should be sprayed on the body to re energize yourself in high heat, also scent wise its timeless IMO. You can PM me if anyone's interested to get any perfume.

DrewDrew

This fragrance, more than anything, shows how nostalgia can impact personal taste. I can't even try to be objective about this fragrance. I can't help but be transported back to the mid-'90s, to my childhood and all the good memories of growing up. This smells exactly like riding my bike and swimming in the summer. So yeah, subjectively, this is a masterpiece. Objectively? It's probably a masterpiece.

itsyaboypedro

Fresh, summery, active, young, sweet... it could be so good... too bad it disappears after maybe 30 minutes on the skin. if it was longer lasting (and in an ideal world, a bit more complex, since it is pretty one-note citric) it'd be an all-timer. the core is there though, juicy pineapple and citrus peel, a violet and green tea heart... it could use a more solid wood core, but as it is, it's pretty nice.
i do appreciate that it is formulated and sold as an unisex fragrance, it's good to see big corporations take a chance and have them become a staple like this, but it deserves better. that formulation is pitiful, it really lasts for at most an hour if you douse yourself with it.

dokei

First perfume i ever got. Its a nice starter. It costs abt 30eur for 100ml or so, maybe cheaper. But it smells much more expensive and professional. As a starting beater definitively get this. There is much better stuff on the market but this is amazing nonetheless.

ShaunMichael

I can always tell the person leaving a review is a younger person when they say that “CK One” isn’t anything GROUNDBREAKING lol. You have no idea groundbreaking this fragrance was in the history of fragrance. That said. I can understand that to them…. Compared to what’s available now. It’s just run of the mill.

Perfect10Tara

Felt very revolutionary at the time...an androgynous scent when heroin chic was in when women were making it in a man's world. In reality probably my first skin scent (fast forward 30 years and I'm wearing Molecules). Very light, very inoffensive, and a definite blast from the past.

Andasu

This is such a dumb reach fragrance and I kinda love it for that. Citrusy and floral with some green tea sharpness, it's a very soapy and pleasant scent good for a fresh out of the shower feeling. It's so light that I can really douse myself in it without offending anybody. Which is good, because it projects out for about 5 minutes before fading into a skin scent. I can't dislike it for that, I usually put this on if I'm working at home and need something to make me feel good or if I can't be bothered with anything else going into the office. And with how affordable it is, I would absolutely recommend it for such a purpose. I wish it projected a bit more though, I would definitely buy something else that smelled like this with better projection.

soap_

liquified nostalgia. smells great with my rose-tinted glasses on.

MikeyTheGoat

Generic and boring with awful longevity. I got this as a gift and even id you get it for free (return it). You should rather get any other perfume.

TheEmeraldPlane

Good fragrance for the price and good for every day use, wouldn't wear for special occasions

Scroub

This is nicer than I expected. Citruses with white flowers, love that. Very soft and gentle. The tea note is really selling it to me. Nothing insane, but extremely easy to wear and always pleasant. It does smell a bit basic but for such a low price this is really quite good.
8.5/10

YjiX3MR

Fresh and green, not overly sweet. Not bad for a designer scent.

hrrdv

A good affordable fragrance, was my second ever fragrance when i didn’t know much however it isn’t a bad fragrance just quite basic like lots of citrusy fresh fragrances and it doesn’t perform great

magnanimousjohn

This was my first ever perfume back during my middle schooling years, and I used it as my signature scent up until my college years. I've since bought a new bottle that was formulated around 2022 or so.

Compared to my memories of it back in the day, I'm not quite crazy about the opener. It feels rather muddled and dissonant with a lot of loud competing scents that are difficult to tell apart from one another. It's like if I stuck my nose into a bouquet of very fragrant tropical flowers. Much heavier on the jasmine notes than I remember in my youth, and I actually prefer it this way. The dry down is much more pleasant, and there's that lingering jasmine note that remains all the way until the scent completely fades from your skin.

Sillage and longevity has never been great for me with CK One or many other CK fragrances. You'll definitely have to respray every 2-3 hours to maintain peak freshness, but for the price you're paying, it's more than fair enough.

sullenhue

I really only wear this for work/school. It smells good to me and is generally inoffensive for people walking by.

yuanlinhao1999

If you are new to this fragrance world, I think this is a good choice for your first-ever fragrance, it is cheap, smells decent (nothing special, but no one will say it smells bad), and has fair longevity (about 4-6 hours) and village.

NoirMemoir

I cannot decide between laughing or feeling insulted when i see the note breakdown in this. So many notes yet it basicly smells like the citrusy top notes of any mass appealing designer summer fragrance ever. Top notes, without a base unfortunately.

This fragrance is so weak to me, what i can pick up however is pleasant and very modern which is a positive. This doesn't feel like its been conceived back in 1994. I sprayed myself and even i could barely smell it for less then a couple of hours.

I hate it when people call fragrances as "colognes" or "aftershave" but this does feel like an aftershave instead of an EDT. I guess its an OK product to spray when getting out of the shower if you wanna smell good before going to bed or to run to the grocery store.

Sterben9225

I was not alive in 1994 when this fragrance was released so I cannot speak first hand to its popularity and the mark it left on the fragrance industry. I can only compare it to it's contemporaries. A fragrance marketed towards everyone was not common and likely revolutionary but now this fragrance is nothing special.

It is a light and airy fragrance. All I can pick up on is citrus and musk with noticeable yet subtle floral notes. I don't know why but I was expecting a more complex scent but this surprised me. It's not nearly as offensive as obsession. In fact it is one of the least offensive scents I have ever smelt.

I can see why this is held in a high regard for its influential nature but it is was probably so influential it is just flat out boring now. It's cheap but not worth buying because their are just better suited fragrances for each occasion.

j.andresminor

Sorry, horrible scent, neutral, musky, not a grace of charm that what it used to be, on the 90's my mum used it, i used it also and was more "pronunciated" the green notes. Now it smells soapy, musky, and much more simplier, terribly bad but at best, cannot detect much more than "water". I recommend much more better option Aqua Di Gio if it hasnt changed this year, much brigther and charming

ZeaMoore4

A nice, fresh, clean, synthetic fragrance. No one will ever complain about the smell. But no one will compliment it either. The perfect example of a "absolutely not a special occasion" kind of fragrance. When you want to smell clean and fresh, and nothing else. Like for a workout.

Unisex to a degree leaning 60% masculine and 40% feminin. You're more likely to smell this on a man then a woman.

Doesn't last a long time. I'd say average is about 3-4 hours on my skinn (3-4 sprays). And the sillage is moderate at first, but quickly fades to a close proximity sent trail.

Blind buy safe, but not blind buy worthy. Too "simple" and uninteresting.

aabisogun

It’s herbal and citrus-heavy, so naturally, I love it to bits. Also interspersed with a hint of spice.
A real hit back in the ‘90s, and a summer scent for sure.
The scent is long lasting, and I think it might have been the first unisex fragrance to be released with great acclaim.
Feeling nostalgic, I purchased another bottle recently, and the reformulation simply does not measure up anymore. It no longer lasts as long, and quite frankly seems watered down.
Still reminiscent though.
I will always love it. Or at least the memories it conjures up.
Rating: 8.5/10

pinotos802

Citrusy shaving cream, a refreshing scent. I can see this being worn on the hottest summer days as it is unnofensive. But for me, this is more masculine leaning.

Commander3778

Finally just made a decision and went with CK One over CK Everyone. I have been debating this for at least 4 months trying to see if I should go with one or the other, based on reviews. Well, I just went ahead and got CK One because I wanted a full “gift” box (perfume, shower gel and deodorant stick) to accompany me on vacation this year, here is my impression:

- Very pleasantly surprised, I have read some really bad reviews when it comes to this and its longevity, but man did it stick around for about 5 and a half hours now and counting after just one spray!

-it’s a citrus but not an overpowering one, I was very disappointed with Versace Homme Eau Fraîche because it felt suffocating and smelled like I poured lime juice over myself. This citrus is more subtle and sweet and clean.

-I definitely detect the powdery note and appreciate it! It is gorgeous and perfect as just out of the shower scent or wearing a relaxed white button up while taking a walk on the beach.

-it is fun and uplifting! Just smelling it put me in a good mood and I suspect using the shower gel and deodorant along with that will double the effect and help have a gorgeous summer day out.

-it’s a very versatile scent, I can see myself wearing this on warmer days in the fall and spring, and even warmer nights during the summer.

- people might not like the fact that projection is non existent in this case, and it isnt. But that does not bother me as I prefer my perfumes to be more intimate, something to discover and catch a whiff of.

hellogoddag

Lovely fresh citrus + flowers combination that is equally sexy as it is unisex.
The soft floral side is promonent in the surrounding scent cloud, while the citrus feels sharper when close up smelling.
A timeless and genderless but very wonderful scent

OtherHBT

I was in college when I first smelled it, back in late 90’s. It blew me away. It was the era of CK One, Davidoff Cool Waters etc. We’ve come a long way since then, but this one (no pun intended), holds a special place in my fragrance memory. I may not wear it often, or even own a bottle as on today, but if I ever smell it or even get a free tester sample, it brings a smile 😊

Sethfragrance

I don't get why so many people hate it. Nothing groundbreaking or amazing but still a pretty good one. If this cost like 70 bucks then it would be a total flop but it's pretty damn cheap for quite a lot. Sort of reminds me of a resort lobby near the beach, either the lobby itself would smell of this or everyone in the lobby would smell of this. Still pretty damn good for the price solid 7.5/10

otterfaces

Smells like middle school to me! JNCO jeans, Joe Boxer tees, space buns, Oasis, platform Skechers, purple John Lennon sunglasses, and blue raspberry flavoured everything. Definitely not exactly the same as its original formulation, but close enough to trigger those memories.

Once I get past the hit of nostalgia, I notice that this is STRONG. No wonder I smelled it absolutely everywhere in the mid 90s! Unfortunately on my skin it smells like balsamic vinegar.

kentabatinga

This is what I remember about CK One: I was in Los Angeles (ca.1994) and stopped at a Virgin music store (Sunset Blvd, maybe?). Talking to friends and checking the latest CD releases I suddenly smelled this fragrance in the air. That was so different and captivating. Later I discovered it was CK One. At that point I was wearing Paco Rabane Pour Homme and scents of that nature. Two decades later I started feeling the pinch in my wallet with this hobby. Nonetheless, that first encounter with CK One was an undeniable memory I'll never forget.

mariananena

OloraGolosina

I bought this perfume for Nostalgia reasons, but the smell is weaker than I remember it back in the 90's and to be honest, I would say this is a masculine aftershave rather than a unisex fragrance, I used to mix it with Carolina Herrera 212, but the latter can stand on its own, for that reason I gifted it to my husband, it suits him better.

jjjooonnn

Think a guy's natural oils stop this from being too feminine.

I often layer this with Chanel Blu Parfum to get more projection.

For me, this is one of those leave it in the car for when you stink smells.

LeSmeller

Exactly as listed, a citrus green and white floral powdery scent. The upside is, if you happen to smell this instead of the hairspray-impersonating CK2, you've won the scent lottery. On the downside: lacking character, somewhat soapy, cloyingly sweet, and generally boring. Probably more feminine that unisex, this smells like a fragrance for a pre-puberty girl playing with toy ponies. The darker, cooler, shady herbal tones are nice though, if you're into herbal fragrances it's a good choice, along with Dior Aqua Fahrenheit. Tone down the innocence, make it a bit darker, and it would be a really good scent.

I promise I'm not a perfume snob and I'm pretty generous about critiquing scents even if they're not to my taste.

The first spray is an obnoxious citrus bomb that you would expect from this price point. But, quickly after the other florals and fruit notes come out and it starts become much more tolerable. This is the scent that's left on your hands after you've finished eating a tangerine, with the addition of some feint florals.

The unisex aspect of this perfume is a little intriguing. I'd be interested to smell this on a woman instead of on my wrist. This is one step up from a drug store perfume but there's really no reason to consider this perfume unless you're buying it for a teenager as their first scent or for nostalgia.

I'll have to give this a 5/10 as far as scents go. It's really not worth smelling and it's not that nice of a scent.

DarthFragrance

My bottle has been about 5% full for the last few years. I just ordered a new 100mL bottle because of mitchcraft's review. I was a teen in the 90's and it's all true. This fragrance really does evoke memories from that time. To me, this fragrance doesn't smell dated, but I don't mind wearing fragrances that are widely considered dated or out of style. If I think it smells good, that's all that matters. Plus, it's all about the man who wears the fragrance. If he's confident, sure of himself, good looking and carries some swag, he can pull any fragrance off, and a dated out of style fragrance might even work in his favor. I love Alberto Morillas which is another reason I want a full bottle of this. This is such a bright, uplifting, positive mood setter that transports me to one of the best decades ever.

Grimey Jesus

This fragrance will never not be en vogue.

MazaZilite

After all these years, this is still my go-to fragrance on sultry summer days when I need an instant pick-me-up. The citrusy top notes give me an instant energy boost and lift my flagging mood. Sure, the longevity isn't great, but for the price I'm not complaining!

mitchcraft

Teenage Spirit of the 90’s. True Nostalgia.

To me this is the fragrance that most people who were in their teens and 20s in the 90s will think of if someone were to ask them what fragrance do you associate with the 90s?

It was an amazing decade, so many changes taking place and pop culture was at its best. People were beginning to be more open minded about things like music that was actually banned in the UK at the time like raves. Sexuality was becoming much more open to talk about and this being a unisex fragrance definitely enveloped that kind of shift in attitudes. Honestly we were genuinely just having a damn good time.

I am sure anyone who had owned this when we talk about fragrance invoking memories will have plenty of amazing memories when they smell CK ONE. For me it is of holidays abroad to places like IBIZA, times spent with my best friends I continued to hang around with after leaving school and times when I went clubbing . The thing about this fragrance is that it gives this burst of energy and freshness that is so brilliantly made by one of the greatest perfumers of our time that we all know from creating so many mass pleasing fragrances and of course it is the great Alberto Morallis himself.

Sure CK ONE maybe doesn’t please some of the younger crowds these days but for those of us who were around when this came out, both men and women as this is one of the first unisex fragrances that I remember being mass marketed at the time to the kind level that it was received and it was everywhere. Today’s equivalent is probably Sauvage funnily enough with Johnny Depp as the face of Sauvage who dated Kate Moss in the 90s who was the face of CK at the
time for which we will all remember the black and white adverts with Kate Moss which expressed everything I think of when smelling this fragrance, a group of friends talking, people dancing and looking like they were having fun, basically everything that I mentioned about the memories this invokes in me felt present in their commercials . Kate Moss was also the voice and face of change the culture of modelling also, instead of tall ultra skinny women Kate changed that and is probably the worlds most known model especially to people who were around at that time. Her voice in the CK adverts is as iconic to me as the Golden M at McDonalds, or as the PlayStation adverts we are used to when you hear the word PlayStation at the end of them with the X, triangle , circle and square that comes with it. She was the voice of CK and if you don’t remember CK ONE I am sure you will remember one of her others like Obsession or BE.

Sure this is linear, sure it’s got poor longevity which are things I usually can’t stand but for the price you can get a 200ml of today I am happy to pay for the memories this brings me and it comes from a time when people were more united and they were just looking to have fun and not everything had to be political or controversial in some way and for a fragrance to be able to give me back those times if only for a short time I will buy it for as long as CK continue to sell it.

takema

CK one was the first designer fragrance I bought myself in 1998. I had been wearing the knock-off, Gender One and finally buying a bottle of the real thing was a college graduation gift to myself. CK One is the scent of my early twenties. I purchased many bottles over the years and always have a bottle in my collection. I don't wear it often now, but I pull it out at least a couple times a year. Even smelling it now, I get a blast of nostalgia. The current formulation doesn't really hold a candle to the original, but is still recognizeable as the same scent.

It opens as a tart aromatic citrus. The other fruits aren't noticeable to me, but there is a little bit of sweetness that is likely from them. As it settles on the skin, the green notes blend nicely with the aromatics. In the drydown all the citrus and green notes fade away and what is left is aromatic woods and fluffy musk. In the current formulation the aromatics have been subdued and the musk can be a little prickly when smelled close to the skin. I really miss how rich and smooth the aromatics used to be in the mid.

When it was released it was marketed as a unisex fragrance and it truely is. In the 90's everyone and their boyfriend wore CK One. Especially the college/university kids. It was an effortless, fun, fresh and youthful fragrance. Easy for everyone to wear. Now I usually only wear it in warmer weather and for casual daytime wear. It's a great choice to wear just going out to run a few errands. I think it's a scent that has aged well. It still smells current. The only thing that really dates it is how familiar it has been over the years. Everyone over the age of 35 will know you are wearing CK One when you wear it. Under 35 and they will think you smell like their mom and/or dad when they were a kid.

The performance has taken a huge hit with reformulation. When I originally wore it, it stayed on my skin forever. I could wear it out clubbing and could still easily smell it on myself the next day. My current bottle lasts 3-4 hours on my skin, a little longer on clothes. The projection is pretty good for about an hour, reaching around arm's reach. Then it stays pretty close to the body for the rest of the wear.

Even though the popularity of CK One has waned since it's released, it must still have a lot of fans. The number of flankers they have released rival JPG Le Male and Classique. CK One can usually be found at discounters for great prices, $20-40, depending on the size of the bottle.

achromaphile

I remember my brother wearing this in the early 2000s (since I wasn't born yet in the early 90's).
I used to secretly spray this on myself when my brother wasn't home and I remember it would make me feel grown-up. 😂 Years later I received a 200ml bottle as a gift and was one of my very first fragrances.

I have to so say that this indeed is a great start for a fragrance collection. It's very inoffensive, suitable for both young and mature, suitable for running quick errands or is even wearable to work.
It smells clean and zesty at first and eventually warms a touch up to a bittersweet green scent... It's exactly unisex like it suggests (even though I remember having discussions with my classmates about whether it leans more masculine or feminine)

Though it's a pleasant fragrance and a great option as a starting point, I wouldn't necessarily repurchase this just because of its poor performance... It only lasts for about an hour or a maximum of two hours and that with overspraying it a ton.

A solid 7,5/10.

wajeehhasan

It smells so nice but such a shame that this fragrance does not last even moderately

MSC99

It’s a great classic fragrance, mostly for teenagers to get into the fragrance world. clever, simple and appealing. A bling buy.

An inexpensive option that wouldn’t be considered as “cheap”.

taytyperry

I was born in ‘95 and I remember growing up that this was my grandfather’s signature scent. I always thought he smelled so good and I’d always spray myself too. It’s so nostalgic to me now and it still smells divine. Just so clean and fresh.

ElonorCrush

I use CK one as a mixer. Expecially in combination with sweet scents such as Lancôme, to tone down sweetness. I tried it with other scents and it worked good but in all honesty, I believe CK one its too weak on its own. My husband tops his Versace Eros with it, although unnecessarily as Eros is very beautiful on its own.

vbs221

Believe me, pick up CK All instead of this. It is an incredible improvement over this.

With this one, they weren’t lying when they voted Green Notes as the most prominent. This is too green. It’s pretty much a chypre. First thing it reminded me of is Estee Lauder Private Collection.

The citruses aren’t as strong as I’d hoped, neither are the florals.

CK All has a wonderful creamy mandarin orange and very smooth white florals. Very very little greenness. Smells very modern and timeless.

ahmednaseri

Used to like this when I was a kid in the 90s. It smelled uber modern to me at the time. It went well with the normcore aesthetic too. Today, I decided to dust of a 2006 bottle I’ve been keeping in the fridge. I can’t say I enjoy it like I used to. It gives a bit of a cleaning product impression. Idk just how far it changed with the reformulations since to me it seems to be concocted entirely of synthetics.

Louie Skougaard

I have a 200ml bottle of this, and i'm halfway through it now, so I know this fragrance quite well now :-)
It's a good fragrance and it's very cheap, I got my 200ml for 30 dollars. But this lasts about 2-3 hours and it's outdated now unless you're 45+. It's not a bad fragrance at all, if you love it, then go for it, but I don't think I would recommend it.
Personally I just use this for the gym.

dj71

I was around during all the CK fragrance hype of the late 80's(?) and 90's, but I never tried a single one back then. I just didn't have any interest. So, now I have this curiosity about what all those scents smelled like. I know they are reformulated now, but I figure smelling the current ones will at least give me an idea. This one is truly pleasantly fresh, citrus-y and somewhat soapy smelling. It just gives an impression of "clean". Enjoyable and I don't think this should be considered a "dated" fragrance at all. Definitely worth a sniff if you've never smelled it before. Also, a true unisex scent in my opinion, too.

chosesvert

As a younger person it makes me think of the mall a bit, definitely recognizable! A fresh, carefree, fun scent. The pineapple pushes it just a touch sweet on me to balance out the greener notes. Despite being fresh, it doesn't necessarily smell contemporary to me? Maybe it's because my mom wore this in the 90s, or maybe because it's been copied so much. It's nice, inoffensive. Could go with any outfit, and easily become a signature scent. Comes on a little strong, but I think I'll like catching wiffs of this throughout the day. Might need to pluck my eyebrows to go with it though lol

edit: this has become my reliable backup, for days when I don't want to or don't have time to think about perfume- really goes with everything. reads more floral and dissipates quicker in warmer weather

amnebe

I loved CK One in high school when it first came out. I've been on the lookout for it for years and finally saw some at my local Sam's club. Surprisingly, it was under $30. It smells sort of like the 1994 version with a clean citrusy smell and a bit of begamot that's good for summer. But it's definitely different. There's a sharp floral astringency that I don't remember being there before. It used to be more clean and crisp and effervescent. I had to look up the history of the perfume, and it seems that it now belongs to its third company and the formula has changed. I still like it, but not as much as the earlier version that I adored.

hairburrito

Just good. Fresh, perfectly unisex, an easy blind buy. It’s not groundbreaking, but you can’t go wrong with it.

oTEMPE5To

Holy nostalgia batman this reminds me of kindergarten in '98. Part of the reason I love it just for the flashbacks to my childhood. It's a smell that I thought for a long time was an awesome hand soap, shampoo or something. I bought various soaps and stuff to try and find this scent again but I was never able to find it. Turns out I was looking in the wrong place.

My Co worker gave me a bottle of ck One today and honestly, I'm really darn stoaked about it even if I'll probably never really wear it.

Niki778

Wear this to school or university, that’s about it. It’s citrusy and green perfect for warmer weather but is good all year round.

If it’s under £20 get it, above that then don’t, but as a cheapie it is really good.

Tmanarl

Picked this up as a blind buy since so many people said it reminded them of the 90s. I can't say for certain that I remember this scent though after smelling it. Citrus, sure, but also fairly powdery and floral. A unisex fragrance but it doesn't exactly match my tastes. I probably would only wear this outdoors.

WiscoFrag

This is my fragrance that I wear when I know I'm not going to be wearing it for long, like if I'm going to the pool or something; not because of it's performance or anything, it's just really affordable, it can be wasted. I also use it as room spray for the same reason. I get great performance out of it, and people still react positively to it.

FloridaFragLover

One of the greatest scents off all time and will always be

Meesmus

Its so fresh and floral, people complain about the longevity but its great for me (7 hours, 1 hours good projection). Its def a closer to the skin scent but its still great.

Scent -> 7/10
Longevity -> 7/10

Red Jaguar

Smells like teen spirit.

Cholera

So fresh, citrusy and floral with lots of notes. Smells amazing, I was obsessed with this back in the day. It is unisex leaning a bit masculine, very pleasant, clean, inoffensive and versatile. I dont use it anymore because of its horrendous performance but I am keeping a bottle for its sentimental value.

LaMiaRosa

I purchased this for the nostalgia. It was part of my collection as a teenager and I remember not loving it then (I used it as a room spray) but I thought maybe I've changed since then. I've been wanting a clean scent and I forgot what this smelled like, to be honest. I knew it was a classic though, so I thought it'd be safe to blind buy.

Unfortunately I still don't like it much and it does have toilet spray vibes for me. I like citrus but not paired with green notes. Pretty much anything with green notes is a no from me so I should have known better. The drydown is better than the opening as it's more citrus and less green notes, but it's still not something I like very much.

For those who are claiming this is too masculine, I really don't see it that way. I feel it's a truly unisex fragrance and while it's pretty harsh with the citrus and green notes, it also has a floral musky vibe as well.

I will say I prefer this in my hair vs. on my skin. In my hair it pulls really floral and I can really make out the violet. On my skin though it's more green, citrusy and musky.

As for longevity, this is really strong and cloying when you first spray it but it quickly becomes a skin scent.

SenselessReviews

"CK One" is the 1990s in a bottle.

It is Bill Clinton smoking a wet cigar and John Wayne Bobbitt peeing through his scar.

It is a curious Wayne and Garth experimenting with "schwing!" and a moviegoing Pee-Wee Herman pawing at his thing.

It is the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's big Uncle Phil and a confused Jeff Goldblum dry-humping a terrordactyl.

Wherever you end up on the nostalgia trip of "CK One " make sure you enjoy the ride. Let the bergamot tantalize your nostrils and the sandalwood unzip your trousers. See where things lead with the papaya. Remember, this spent five weeks as Billy Baldwin's signature scent for a reason!

All these years later, "CK One" is still cool. Still hip. Still down with the homies. Stop rubbing the magazine ad scent strips all over your body and buy yourself a bottle!

_Aerides

My very first designer perfume I purchased for myself, it will always have a place in my collection and heart <3 I never get tired of this smell, and it works in any weather, season and ocassion. It's serious, fun, sexy and casual at the same time.

You can layer this a lot other stuff. I love to combine it with Viva la Juicy caramel goodness 🤤🍮

JusttheFactsMan

This is #40 on my tour of 250 fragrances in 250 days. Nice citrus freshie opening. Uplifting and optimistic, youthful. So youthful in fact that the first person to comment was a fourteen-year-old high school girl who also wears it, but only noticed and recognized it when she hugged me. And that's the problem. I had really over-sprayed on skin and shirt just an hour before and it was already barely noticeable. A dead center unisex fragrance, the first I've tried, and I would I like it as a summer frag if it had any longevity and projection at all. It would be a good choice for warm weather and the gym, but you can outright fumigate yourself with this, soak your clothes in it, and it still won't last even a few hours. It's not even worth spraying as an air freshener, and it's a shame.

caffeinatedpony

Like clean linen. Calming and gentle, and very versatile. You could give this to pretty much anyone and theyd like it. This is honestly the only freshie that i truly *love*. Wish the performance was better, thats the only thing keeping this from a higher ranking.

Des0318

Been always a ck one in my collection, note that the made in usa and france is a little different, if u like more citrus go for france, usa version for more floral scent.

Easy, safe, non offensive smell, one of the best unisex fragrance ever made.

Sillage: 6/10

Value: 10/10

Because it's cheap, u can keep some in ur car respray it anytime you want.

blood-dorm

I was given my dad's bottle. Definitely an old one since I saw some clumping. A very "gym/school gym" scent, lotion-y, when I smelled it images of my grandpa's badminton rackets/sports stash passed in mind - I believe there might be a sports brand (Spalding?) that released products that smelled like this. Fruitiness is slight or shadowed by florals topped with sharp lemons in my interpretation. Not something I can say as "me".

Moderate to long lasting, low to moderate sillage.

AJPkayla

Clean and refreshing. Lots of different notes. Very versatile. I still can’t shake that it has a bit of a 90s nostalgia to me. Only tried this at a store so not sure if I want to actually get but still good nonetheless.

SusiLisa_pixie

Freshness in a bottle!

chimidoro

I was OBSESSED with this when it was released.
I don't know what the recent formulas are like, but the deodorant stick is magical.
If you don't sweat much and ain't too stinky, I highly recommend it! It does not contain aluminium, which is a double thumbs up from me. It smells wonderful. I love to pair it with my original formula CKONE. It keeps me "dry" and isn't at all overpowering, smells quite true to the original scent.
CKONE LIVES ON.

Xenabea

For people who never tried the og when it came out, people who were not around then….

This was truly the first unisex fragrance of Gen X youth.

Classic, clean, easy. It really did smell good on both men and women. Very popular, very recognizable.

AquaJima

I like this. Fresh, simply and does not bother you. Whatever you are female or male, will quickly fade, so feel free to overspray. I always remember a bottle of this around the house when I was growing up in the 90s, so it probably belonged to my dad or brother. Is the smell of our family bathroom cabinet. Makes me think of blue tiles and bubbles. Is almost like the first male perfume designed for women who like male fragrances and wanted to wear them. This is your green light 💚

Azula

Pleasant, but much like Tommy Girl its scent profile has been replicated ad nauseam since its release to the point where younger generations (myself included) will simply associate this with the smell of generic male deodorant & shower gel as opposed to innovation and the 90s minimalism aesthetic. A versatile clean, aromatic citrus fragrance for beginners, the nostalgic or the fragrance averse.

sarazil

when pairing with molecule 01, this lasted me hours. i sprayed myself 5 h ago, went out, came home, and i can still smell the ck one on me. i can’t smell molecule 01 at all, but perhaps it helped the longevity of ck one. this fragrance is citrusy, woody, unisex but more manly imo.

Raj Malik

Not so good in performance and low silage with no longevity. Money wasted . I'm regrating after purchase this

eva.hl

Clean, simple, and fresh but not completely devoid of that vernal soft-core Calvin Klein look in Kate Moss's eyes. Occasionally borders on baby powder-y. A basic unisex scent of which there are more interesting variations to be found, but nevertheless classic and comforting to return to.

BernardF

Clean, fresh, fruityish fragrance. Simply classic and beautiful. I don't understand why people hate on it, what's there to hate on. I think for the money you pay its a good quality fragrance. I still smell it on me after 7 hours and I still get colleagues tell me I smell good. Get it. Own it.

ChristianGabriel

Clean, soapy, slightly floral type of fragrance. The citruses does not last long, just a few minutes. Leans a bit feminine on me, also there is a sweetness in the background which I think it would be appreciated by some. I would wear this exclusively in warmer spring days and hot summer days, mostly because I am switching my perfume during colder months, but this could be easily worm all year round.

krnsniper01

This was one of the earliest ones in my fragrance collection.

It is a sweet fresh inoffensive fragrance.
As I remember, it did not project nor did it last long.

I, however, felt clean and fresh whenever I sprayed this during summer.

It is safe blind-buy worthy.

My son purchased CK One for my husband recently, I forget the occasion. He blind bought it. He wasn’t aware that it was a unisex fragrance.
I was glad to see CK One! After all, I was a freshman in high school when it launched, so it was a bit of a teaching moment for me to educate my son. And, a little nostalgic too, I must add. Over the years, many people sprayed on this citrusy fragrance…declared it their signature scent. It was really popular in the mid to late nineties. Yesterday, I decided to spritz CK One on and make it mine for a day. It is a lighter version of what I remember it as. It was a power house, initially.
I still get lots of lemon, green notes, jasmine, and freesia, with a moderate sillage and about 4-5 hours of longevity. I wore it casually yesterday, as my husband and I ran errands, had a late lunch, and went to the movies. I realize that it is a fragrance that I have outgrown. Although very nostalgic, it did not evoke “good” feelings for me. Freshman year was an awkward time and most of the people who made it their signature scent—were not nice people. Today, if I am in the mood for a citrusy, unisex fragrance—I’ll reach for Chloe and Lamar’s Unbreakable Love. It has limited longevity, but it is a much better fragrance, in my opinion. As far as blind buys are concerned, CK One is very unsafe; but it is a break from today’s gooey gourmands and fruicholis.

Tony Shades

The apex of the generic fresh metallic synthetic citrus showergel scent.

greensala

Oh, God.
The scent is pure citrus joy, as if you just washed your underwear, hung them on a lemon tree and left them to dry in the sun. Over 20 years on and you still see CK One being sold in stores... yes, I think it has already stood the test of time. Unfortunately its longevity is still the same as in the past but since it's CK it's hardly a surprise. Maybe the formula is different now and it doesn't appeal to all Generation Z but if you find this brew on the cheap, get it!

Qlnmu

Fresh and clean, but it's an everyday "laundry" kind of clean rather than a "fancy bath soap" kind of clean. The citrus does evoke household cleaning products somewhat. Succeeds at being unisex which I suppose is good if you're a brand that wants to sell perfume, but as a man there is limited appeal for me in smelling unisex. Performance is not great but it is cheap. It's a competent fragrance but I found it too boring to wear often. Not sure who this is for in 2023, beyond people who have fond nostalgia for it.

mmeofmanor

There was nothing cooler than this fragrance in the mid-90s. My mom wouldn't let me have a bottle, given the provocative TV ads for it. I rubbed myself furiously with the scent strips in magazine ads. For Christmas, I managed to get a hold of two bottles of the "Designer Imposter" version and I sprayed those until the very last molecule. This fragrance is one of those things I just had to buy as an adult, because I can, and my mom can't say anything about it. I don't wear this one very often but it evokes so many memories for me when I do.

Anabee

I will never let go of this. I’ve been a girlie girl my entire adolescent life and still a thoughtful soul gifted me this to my 15th birthday, and my entire life changed. Every tomboy in my school would suddenly look at me differently. LoL yeah
I was visible, and only understood what it meant around 2 years later. I found myself. Thank you CK, you were the One.

Nisbel

Much talk about re-applying and performance. I guess you are sissy-sprayers, go heavy and it lasts.

liam04

Decent everyday freshie that is cheap. Need to reapply.

Smells like baby powder. It's very synthetic. You get citrus as a top note and rose in the middle, except it's a very synthetic type of rose. I'd wear it in high heat when I'm not trying to give myself a headache and overwhelm with something heavy.

If you would like a better performing (this has rubbish performance), less synthetic scent for a few extra bucks check out Dolce & Gabbana light blue intense.

perfumellover123

I mean it's alright smells very citrusy buy it if you like refreshing scents.

beta-ionone

I think it's probably the most unisex freshie I have. I gave it to my mom because she liked it and loves mens' fragrance and doesn't care what others think. When I smell it straight from the bottle it smells masculine to me but I put it on and it has a faint floral scent that reminds me of how Clinique Happy smells. My bf said it does smell masculine to him when I asked. You can't go wrong with this one.

NamertBaykus

A safe bottle to reach when you need one.

A universal fragrance. Almost everyone would agree you smell nice when you wore that. It has basically nothing offensive in it. Just nice citrus and green notes that blend really well with each other. It probably won't turn many heads but it won't offend anyone either. Longevity is a huge letdown though. And both performance and scent-wise, I prefer Azzaro Chrome over this one I guess.

no1babygirl

androgynous baddie fragrance. I like it a lot and it would be signature scent worthy if it lasted longer. i mainly use it for working out.

jaydenmatteen

I don't get the hate for this fragrance. It is the cleanest smelling fragrance I have ever smelt. Smell of a clean groomed man out of the shower. a summer daytime fragrance that should probably be re-applied throughout the day. I love wearing it after break times at school because I'm playing sports and don't want to smell bad coming into class.

Jeaq

CK One is a great scent for drenching your entire body in after bathing, and for layering with longer lasting fresh-spicy fragrances, or layering with anything you like- as CKO will mostly only impact the opening into the early drydown of whatever you pair it with anyway.

However subtle, longevity is actually great on clothes, with a "fabric freshener" effect that doesn't truly disappear until way later than you would imagine, like 8-10hrs. What I mean by it being a "freshener" is somewhat obvious; if your clothes smell kind of dusty- it will freshen them up if anyone happens to smell them directly.

The atomizer is practically begging you to overspray (encouraged), as the thing pumps out like 1ml of juice per spray (slight exageration). The fresh spicy lime (bergamot) white florals are really great as a mood lifter; really soothing.

It does not project past skinscent for very long, but a huge 6.7oz bottle is like $30, and for a fresh-spicy; 1-2 hours of decent projection before going skinscent is acceptable.

*Right after spraying CKO in front of a woman.* "That smells hot."

Lily of the valley/white flowers can get kind of soapy in the freezing cold; which is pretty gross. So maybe don't do that.

[email protected]

Gym Fragrance. Great Smell but longevity is 1-2hr. For Gym 1-2hr is good.

Kustomeyez

I was gifted this from a customer of mine. Haven’t smelled it in many many moons. Tried it out and it has since became my go to base layer for just about every other scent. I use this directly out of the shower, let it air out for about 20-30 minutes then cover it with another fragrance. But let me say I can pick up wofts off this scent through out the entire day peaking out from behind what ever else I applied. Despite any and all negativity, to my nose,… this is a hidden gem indeed.!! 11/10 masterpiece. Made by an All time master of perfumery!! If you don’t like it, at least you didn’t break the bank with the purchase.

boffin1979

The citrus, the musk, the soapiness was considered modern in the mid nineties, so I can’t understand why anyone would say it’s dated now it’s 2023. I’m sure my contemporaries would understand what I’m talking about.

CK One is my time machine to the time I was young, shy around girls, naive, lacking in self-confidence. I hated high school and my teens but it was undeniably a time when I was innocent yet virile and only beginning to discover my sexuality.

I love you…yes I do! 🎶

Bips3000

Saying I loved this fragrance is an understatement. Back in the 90s this was my juice. That clean, fresh, creamy, lemon-y scent was unmistakable and universally loved.
Alas, the newer formulation is complete garbage. Performance is ridiculously poor, and the scent itself is nothing more than a vague reminder of what it used to be. Luckily this fragrance is often copied as a dupe, and I found a really good one in EDP concentration that is far truer to the original than this version is.

Rory75

The easiest way to describe this is that it's clean. Clean, citrus and easily detectable. Guess it's called CK One because I remember smelling this on girls and other jocks back in uni

JamesPawn

the stuff that came out in the 90's was good stuff i remember having a frosted bottle and spraying it enjoying it so i picked up some vintage bottles 20 year plus old bottles that has yellow juice instead of clear . the cologne smells like its lost some top notes mostly still the same but i can no longer enjoy it as much its just too harsh to m noise . the reformulations took all the thrill out of it. even simple ck1 it lost that pouch in the top notes with the new bottles

TechnOwO

very lemon-y from bottle, but is less lemon-y when on skin. pretty cool.

tuqqqqqd

very fresh and clean but in a quite unnatural way... like a gentle cleaning spray. its my fav to wear when i dont want anything too out there and just want to smell clean but my god the performance is lacking! i wish i could find something that smells exactly like this but stronger and longer lasting

imran241318

Nice but longevity not that good.
8/10

ds23pallas

It's 1995 and both I and my girlfriend are wearing CK One, just as the adverts suggested. It seemed so contemporary at the time. I'll always have happy memories of it for that reason, but smelling it recently it seems relatively unspecial.

peachygal

Masculine, citrusy, dry, boring, powerful, chemically is how I would describe this fragrance that I have no idea why is still remotely popular

AdalynEverly

First Impressions (full bottle):
I will start this review by saying I may be biased towards this perfume. Due to the fact that it’s my Moms favorite. This classic really does smell like the 90’s. This perfume was a trendsetter at that time. Hence, why it’s a reminder of the turn of the century. My Mom bought this a long time ago, and has been sitting in my bathroom cubbard for some time now. I’ve sprayed it, and I think it went a little off so I’ll try to remember this perfume.
The beginning of the fragrance you have a hit of citruses. The bergamot and the lemon are the two immediate notes that you smell. The middle I can smell a mix of all the notes. With the dry down reminding me of something plush. There’s multiple notes that may be in the dry down that might be causing this. The rose, oak moss, violet, freesia with musk or papaya possibly? The only notes that I don’t smell in this fragrance is Jasmine and possibly the cardamom. I will say that this perfume doesn’t last on my skin due to it being a citrus perfume. Although it is one of the longest lasting out of my collection in terms of citrus. I would give this perfume an overall alright review because I have a biased. I also don’t want to smell like my Mom (no offense Mom). If you are a 90’s child then this may bring you back to a happy childhood (if you had one). Definitely a trendsetter freshie with a nineties twist perfume.
perfume by memory.
Edit:
So yeah my mom has a new bottle of this and I’m going to give it a dislike rating on me. Green notes for my skin just don’t at all work for me. The only reason this lasts as a citrusy perfume is due to the green notes. Those smell not so great on my body chemistry. Just like silver by Al-rehab. It’s also giving me pee vibes. Smells great on my mom. For me not so much :(.

Verdict:
Pass- My mother’s 90’s long lasting freshie.

Rastislaw

I had one bottle maybe 3yrs ago. I decided to buy again😀 I like to go back to some scents that I didn't have anymore. I sprayed my wrist 2 times when I showered😆 it was 18:30 I didn't plan to go out anywhere. I was only at home. I then went to sleep later and the next day I could still smell it on my wrist 10+ hrs I'll see how it works when i will at work because I will use more sprays. my batch is 2022/02/17

Al Prince

The very first time I smelled this perfume, it instantly reminded me of only one thing : hair gel. This is the scent of a cheap hair gel that I used to apply when I was young. For that reason, I can't wear this perfume. My friends also agreed that it smells like that cheap hair gel.

sasa.ss

Very old, without being outdated even a bit.
I've got a new bottle in retailer store, it's made in Spain'- in 2022, and lasts very nice.

A mixture of citrus, violet flowers and ozone, very clean overall. It might pass as unisex, but certainly not for "girly" type ladies. Overall, on skin it reminds me of scented pencil eraser, on clothes doesn't smell so good.

The only thing about it that I don't like is presentation, as box comes without plastic wrapper and bottle is unsealed- liquid is literally without any protection. So be careful to buy this only in respectable retailer stores.

Blinkz312

Bought it first when I was 18 and loved wearing it every day going to college. It smells fresh and the citrus really adds the perfect smell to it. Have received a lot of compliments from the ladies too. If there are 1-2 people in the room they will surely notice in but in a group I think the smell fades away. Perfume doesn't last long tho.

realestrater444

If you just want to smell clean, this is a solid choice. Regardless of gender, age or personality. Lots of people complain about the performance but realistically if you spray a couple times on clothes and a few times on skin, you'll get around 6 hours with moderate projection, meaning people will smell you if they get close to you.

The scent itself is mostly white floral and green herbaceous notes, every other note I either don't get or its very subtle
