Carat by Cartier is a Floral fragrance for women. Carat was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Laurent. Top notes are Green Notes, Pear and Bergamot; middle notes are Hyacinth, Tulip, Narcissus, Lily, Honeysuckle, Violet and Ylang-Ylang; base notes are Mimosa and White Musk.

Cartier Carat represents a fragrant interpretation of diamonds. Cartier in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent wanted to make a perfume that would shine equally lively and intense as diamonds do. Carat is described as a flower full of life, an explosion of pleasure and freshness with molecules of joy loaded with crystalline energy.

To accomplish this, the perfume maker decided to imitate an optical phoneme that is characteristic of diamonds: diffraction of color. So she chose seven different fresh flowers that, when combined, formed a new, abstract flower.

The composition represents the colors of rainbow in the form of flowers; violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red are captured with the notes of violet, lily, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, narcissus, honeysuckle and tulips.

Carat de Cartier is available in Eau de Parfum concentration in bottles of 30, 50 and 100 ml.

This is very beautiful, unique and feminine. Signature worth it.
-in beginning I was scared because it was green and bitter, exactly what I do not like
-after around 10 min, it turned into a very pleasant and calming tulip scent. It turned creamy, a little sweet and very floral and very feminine.
-The dry down reminds me of my favourite soaps Camay that a I can not find them anywhere anymore
-this parfum has something in it that I can’t explain my self, but really makes me think at diamonds too
-after I’m done with my “no buy parfum period “ I’m going to buy this. Memorable femini scent!

It was a gift to me and I tried wil all my heart to understand and like it. It is moderately sweet but somehow "candy sticky" scent... not the best of Cartier, bottle is great though.

Carat by Cartier, a floral fragrance, mirrors the essence of diamonds, capturing their brilliance in a symphony of notes. Imagine a bouquet of green notes, pear, and bergamot—a fresh and airy introduction. The heart unfolds like a garden in full bloom, an ensemble of hyacinth, tulip, narcissus, lily, honeysuckle, violet, and ylang-ylang. These blossoms weave a tapestry of elegance and refinement, a representation of beauty in its purest form.

Carat is more than a scent; it's a living interpretation of joy and vibrancy, a cascade of crystalline energy. Just as diamonds diffract color, Carat diffuses the spectrum of floral hues. Seven different flowers unite, much like the colors of a rainbow— VIBGYOR —all captured within violet, lily, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, narcissus, honeysuckle, and tulip notes. This fragrance is not just a composition; it's an explosion of life, a testament to the beauty found in every facet of nature. Carat by Cartier, a sensory journey that mirrors the brilliance of diamonds, a celebration of color and life distilled into a bottle.

very very yummy

This perfume is definitely likeable, but it's not a love for me personally. I like the honeyed smell of the mimosa and the sweet and honeyed white floral smell you get from the honeysuckle from time to time, but I wasn't mad on the pronounced pear note or the spicy tulip note. Also I love violet as a note, but I don't think it fits well in this perfume. The heady narcissus, waxy lily, green hyacinth and sweet ylang ylang notes are lovely though! I think the composition would have been better if it were arranged as such, without the notes I said didn't work in this.

I feel like this fragrance would be good for during the day for either spring or summer but I don't think it would work for night time. It would be too light a fragrance for that. It's a very feminine perfume though and it definitely smells pleasant and pretty to the nose. I just think that it's a bit too much of a mishmash of different things.

I got moderate sillage from this perfume on my skin and a longevity of 6 hours on me, so it's not a weak perfume for sure. I certainly wouldn't call it a powerhouse though.

Altogether I'd give this fragrance a 7/10 and I don't think I'd buy it for myself personally. I think that my mom might love it though! I might get it for her for Christmas this year.

I thought I’d enjoy Carat since I’m a big fan of Baiser Vole, and was looking forward to trying another green perfume from Cartier. But it’s really nothing special. Not green enough, not floral enough, it’s missing that crystalline, dewy touch I was looking for. Carat is vaguely clean, musky and bland.

Paddycake

Received several compliments in one day. It received attention and interest in a good way so I like it more than I originally thought. It is like jewelry that you can't see. I will wear this when I want to feel put together and highly functional (i.e. beautiful). It does smell expensive to me.

Enrium

Carat is, fittingly, a bright, sparkling green floral. Its radiance is achieved without aldehydes, which is impressive. It is a light, fresh floral bouquet infused with fruity sweetness and with a dewy green undertone.

Carat opens with a fresh green accord, dewy and sap-like. Realistic, juicy pear adds aquatic fruity sweetness. Sheer and refreshing, it forms the perfect backdrop for the floral accord that follows.

A heady hyacinth note leads the way, a flower that really says springtime to me. Grassy narcissus follows, and clean white florals round it out. The lily note is a lovely inclusion here, light but realistic. The greenness adds a stem-like effect.

As it develops further, the white florals become honeyed, giving a pollen-like effect. Powdery, shimmering mimosa enhances the effect beautifully here. It fades to a sweet, musky skin scent with the florals remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

A sophisticated springtime scent, this is fresh, floral femininity at its best. Elegant and beautifully crafted, this is an excellent everyday scent for warm weather. Another gem by the inimitable Mathilde Laurent. 4/5.

ANNA_KISELEVA

Most often I wear fragrances on my hair, so they stay for a long time and do not change.

It was when I put "Carat" on my hair that I was able to (finally))) understand it. Watery green, really very similar to FERRAGAMO. And so, for me, this is a vintage fragrance.

I think that sometimes, when you need a mood of peace, it will be optimal.

Stays on hair for over 10 hours!

Ladym00nlight

This is an epitomy of an early spring scent. Smells kind of fresh and clean, with some greenness to it. All very innocent and new, like the first flowers that start to bloom. There's nothing edgy, mature and innovative about it, but it's not juvenile or vintage by any means. If you're looking for a scent to match your floral dress, this is it.

Kizzyb93

As someone who likes her heavy hitters had been finding it hard to find a bridal appropriate fragrance for my wedding, until last week when I bought this just to try and honestly I think this is a really pretty cent. I wasn’t expecting myself to like it but it’s creamy it’s fluffy. It’s light and airy and I found it really classy. I will still continue my hunt for a bridal fragrance . But this is definitely one of the first ones I have come across that I thought ‘maybe I could wear this’

Tony Shades

Gorgeous elegant classy floral with retro notes, but with a modern twist. Highly recommended for office and business wear or simply just for flowershoppy springtime bouquets lovers.

Jordan 99

I was scared of green note because sometimes they are bit masculine on me, but this perfume is very feminine and soft. It’s sort of creamy soft green note with very soft semisweet bergamot and prominent mimosa (I’m surprised that mimosa is in the base, I can smell her whole time) I think pear helps smooth down whole opening. Hyacinth and mimosa are start of the show, dry down is beautiful too, very soft honeysuckle with ylang ( I don’t get any violet, which is good, but maybe it’s just masked by ylang)). It is easy to recognize majority of notes here, but it is still very rounded and well blended, beautifully crafted. Reminds me of 90s fresh/flower perfumes.

Coalita

Bright, light, fresh, crispy and very beautiful. Perfume for Spring - waking up from deep winter. Fresh air, beautiful flowers, first warm sun is shining and girls going out dressed in dresses, skirts, blouses and light coats. Instead of winter boots, they wearing shoes. Light wind is playing with hairs... Approximately that kind of picture I see. Just beautiful. Office safe.

Kotikina

Those early days of spring, when it is still cold outside, maybe even some traces of snow here and there, yet it is very sunny and you can see the early spring flowers peeking through. Crystal, cold, clean and bright.

This perfume is strikingly similar to La Tulipe from Byredo, which is the most realistic tulip scent encaptured in a bottle. I sprayed Carat on one hand and LaTulipe on the other, and it was maybe 90% similar. The subtle differrence is that I can definitely also smell a prominent hyacinth note and a white (non sweet, but rather green smelling) lily in Carat. In fact, I much prefer the lily note here than in Baiser Vole. It is way more realistic in here. Very elegant and sophisticated. It appears to be a borderline vintage kind of a scent amongst endless patchouli/fruitchouli or tuberose bombs.

ssamhita

The first time I smelled Carat was at the Cartier store. I’d gone there with Baiser Volé on my mind, but the sales assistant was a friendly woman who wanted me to try everything. I remember smelling Carat on the paper strip and thinking that it smelled familiar, as if I have smelled it before, but I couldn’t place which perfume it was. It was floral, and it was green but that’s all I could register.

It’s been almost a year since that day, and I found a brand new bottle up for sale at a second hand site for a really decent price and got it for myself. This is such a voluptuous scent to me. It envelops me in this gorgeous floral halo, and maybe because these days I am all about the yellow florals, but am loving that warm yellow accord in there. It’s green, yes. But to me the green in here isn’t herbaceous and crisp. The green is warm, like a sun soaked leaf that is tucked right under a fragrant blossom.

This is going to be one of the perfumes I’m taking home when I visit this winter after three years of being away from my parents. Because to me, this is exactly what a garden in Assam smells like. It’s a symphony of different smells. It’s heady but intoxicating instead of cloying. And I can see this absolutely blooming during the winters in my hometown - the warm yellow florals a perfect foil to the winter iciness.

Cherry_Darling

Oh I am loving this one. A great fresh green springtime floral with honeyed pear. Love! But I can kind of see why it's been rubbing people up the wrong way, lots of iffy reviews, and it's for the same reason that my other all-time spring fave can be faulted: It's very "green" as many are referring to however I don't think its the greenness. I don't even find this particularly green. If you spray this twice or too close, and not once from afar like i believe it is intended, it can get really overwhelming. Pulpy, rotten fruity, indolic, in a springy way, and yes like someone may have mentioned a touch even metallic. But I don't mind and I have sprayed this one lightly. Overall I believe this is beautiful, but, I do prefer my Baruti Melkmeijse which is also a honeyed pear and spring florals bordering on overwhelming if you don't spray with caution!

I'm having to retire this perfume to the back cabinet of my vanity. The last 2 times that I've used it I became nauseated. I don't know why. But I can't be ill due to a perfume. :>( ...sad face.

RandomPatterned

A fresh floral suitable for spring/summer. Completely tasteful but lacking uniqueness.

cjoudas

pretty and mild floral with good longevity and a varied performance. It's another one that I find pleasant, but not life-altering. I have a FB of La Panthere, which I love a lot, but I can't imagine buying Carat, even though there's nothing I dislike about it. This would be a good one for someone who was interested in a floral with intimate sillage.

búzavirág

It is a delicate honey spicy flower fragrance. Very natural and refined. It lasts and lasts on me, and varies the solo flower in the orchestra day by day. I am glad to find it.

jeissi

The scent is bright with green notes and fresh flowers but sometimes I find the mimose note quite heavy. I have to spray a lot this parfume because the sillage isn't strong.

Kim Kirk

Based on the reviews and that tulip in the notes (my fav flower of all time! I've told my husband that when I die he'd better get tulips for my casket and if he doesn't I'll come back and haunt him! LOL!). . I purchased a 0.5 oz roller ball. When I opened the package for a moment I was perplexed. The bottle is packaged upside down with the bottom of the glass container sticking out of the top of the cylinder container. But, problem solved rather quickly. After work and a shower I rolled it on myself--arms, neck, décolleté and all. It's very floral. I don't get green scents. I asked my husband what he thought and he crinkled his nose up and said he wasn't sure about it. In the dry down I still get florals. Then a bit powdery. And no staying power. I have to put my nose to my arm to smell anything now. So, this isn't "the one" for me. It's nice enough for spring and summer. My search for "my scent" continues and I will keep trying to find it.

Perfumes are so personal...

Bought a 10 mL sample from Alex's beautiful review. I am just a tad bit disappointed.

This perfume is VERY green, makes one think of a grassy spring meadow with shy wild flowers. The "hyacinth note" did not smell like hyacinth to me at all. The real hyacinth smell from the flowers are more fragrant and heady. This fragrance seems a little plain to my taste.

That being said, it is pretty, simple, and quite green, fit for a gentle spring scent.

juliabee

Cartier Carat is extremely elegant, refined, and classic, the perfect scent for an upscale black tie event or when you want to convey the very image of professionalism and perfection. When you wear Carat, you want everyone to know that no, they will never see you without every hair and speck of makeup perfectly in place, and yes, you (and they) know you're the most confident, put together person in the room.

Adrian_foroozandeh

This perfume was not a love for me. It is quite mediocre. If I want to give it a score, I give it 6 out of 10.
At first spray it reminds me of spring, but when it reaches to the dry down phase it is kind of metallic. I don't know which note or combination of which notes cause to create this metallic smell that I am not fond of it.
The way I see it is that it is not a masterpiece that I was hoping for. I am not satisfied with my purchase. The only positive thing about it is that the bottle is very nice. Other than that, the juice inside is not so good. Sorry.

Daniela_Beatriz

I love it because it reminds me of Nivea cream from the blue tin. It’s not a dupe, it doesn’t smell like Nivea’s Eau de toilette, but it has the same comforting clean floral vibe. The hair mist is a delight! I feel very classy and it is definitely work safe.

Now I’m gonna tell you about my Unbeatable Top 1 Signature Scent of all time. That is Carat EDP by Cartier. It was launched in September 2018, and I owned it since then.
My love story with this fragrance was that it was not a love at first sniff but a love at first shift. The very first spray of Carat in my life, I was mehhh, I thought it was too soft and too green, it was like I sprayed nothing. However, after about 10mn, I seriously felt like “oh no! I’m sorry baby, I wronged you, please forgive me. You’re the love of my life. Would you marry me? I will never go off your hand, and we gonna live happily ever after.” The smell is just amazing, it’s a spring in the bottle. It develops so well after spraying, no longer green, it’s like a plant full of leaves starting to produce flower buds then blooming larger and larger until there’s no more leaves and left with full of flowers, and it projects so well. It’s a very smooth and well balanced blend of citrus and sweetness, it also contains a hint of warm and cozy yet very fresh and clean. The most special part is that it gives off a very shiny feeling, it’s like there’s something bling bling around you, it’s like diamonds under sunshine.
Despite being fresh, the longevity is great, I can still smell it from morning till late afternoon.
I may own more than 40 fragrances, and they are competing with each other for my attention, but this one is in different league, it has no enemy and it stays on top of the throne.

Coriemulvey

If you want to know what carat smells like.. open your dishwasher in the middle of the dry cycle and take a big whiff. That is what Carat smells like. It has a real dish soap quality to it. Bath and body works Butterfly Flower is what got me interested in fragrance. It was the very first time I learned that a fragrance can capture a true flower scent that included the stem, dew, soil and everything else that comes from a fresh and real vegetal flower. From there I was turned onto white florals (especially tuberose) These days when I smell a plain soliflore, I get bored but not nearly as bored as I am with Carat. I would rather wear meyers all purpose cleaner … the stuff I clean my counter tops with.

PerfumeEmpress

Hubby just gave me this for my BDay. I never had a scent like this. It's very soft and like others I can barely smell it. It's not bad. Just not one I would have chosen. Still, I don't dislike it, but I think it is more a summer scent. I'll see how it works in warm weather. In the meantime, I will layer it with other more intense scents and see what happens.

---

Ok, this just doesn't do it for me. Not my kind of stuff at all. I'm ready to swap it, if anyone who lives in the USA is interested. It's a 50ml, EDP bottle. I just sprayed it about 3 times.
Please be aware that I will only swap it for something in the same category and price range. Thank you.

OTA Mom

A dish of freshly sliced pear next to a vase of hyacinth, so elegant and restrained.

selmakrantz

If it weren't for personal circumstances, I would absolutely adore Carat. It's a cool, refreshing bouquet that is perfect if you're looking for an inoffensive, crowd-pleasing true floral. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the bouquets of flowers that were put around my grandfather's retirement home, so that memory precluded me from purchasing a full bottle. This is not to say that this smells like a retirement home in any capacity. It just happened to bear a resemblance to that of my grandfather. It lasted relatively well on my skin, ~6 hours or so. Overall, if you're looking for a floral that doesn't have any other overarching accords, Carat is a good option. For those looking for more depth, however, you could find better florals elsewhere.

coffeefifofum

Came in a Macy's sampler and as mass market as it gets. Green, floral, light and inoffensive. I can see what the frag heads are complaining about (there's no depth, mystery, or particular interest to it) but IMHO it was designed to extend the Cartier brand, not for frag heads, and it's likely inoffensive or appealing to someone who isn't into perfume. I can't see buying it, but I'll use up the sample.

Linear, stays close to the body, fades substantially in ten minutes but lasts a few hours. The rainbow of florals story from the manufacturer is trying way to hard to tie in to the diamond buyers market; it's a well blended floral bouquet and that's about it.

Eva Wu

I really REALLY wanna like this one.

Like all basic bitches, I love the smell of florist shops, and this one sort of has that going on. It feels synthetic in an interesting way, like a flower made of lucite and chrome.

But it's just kinda weak. It feels like it should radiate way more than it does, and it's lacking an edge, some grit.

Reminds me of the relentlessly chipper tone of Siri. Artificial and friendly, with a sinister lack of personality.

Florabotanica remains a better sci-fi greenhouse.

smellzinha

It’s nice sparky floral, but very very very light. As said below, you can barely smell it. If I could afford bathing on it, I would go fb because it smells nice.

Sephmosh

Is it just me, or this smells a bit like Chanel Gabrielle?
The same kind of vibes?

Anamandy

No matter how many times I try this, I can barely smell it. It was so light that one time I went hog wild only to find that while I might not be able to smell it, other people could as I almost asphyxiated some of them. I just seem to be anosmic to this scent. I sprayed on another perfume one day after putting it on one wrist to see if I could smell that because I was starting to worry that maybe I had Covid. But, no. I could smell the other perfume perfectly fine, but not this. You would think that with the abundance of ingredients something would stand out, but no such luck. Just a blank. So after trying this multiple times, from multiple sources, I've finally given up.

giri-boni

It doesn't smell natural... It's very artificial, indeed. Makes me think of wet marijuana

curaptz

remind me of pure white linen from estee lauder.
feminine and classy.

starsnek

Opens beautifully to this silky floral scent and I enjoy it quite a bit until the dry down. I'm not a fan of the mimosa-musk combination which to me signals cheap and synthetic. At least it is not a long lasting perfume in warm weather. I can imagine it sticking around for hours on a cool day, but thankfully that isn't today.

A great choice for people who like an elegant white musk with a floral twist. It blankets the skin in a lovely way. But as I've mentioned, I've realized I'm just not a fan of most musky fragrances.

AnnaEMHG

Very pretty! As true a hyacinth as I've found in fragrance. I don't find this 'cold at all. Quite beautiful and lasted well for 3 hours before becoming a skin scent.

adelaidesandrina

surprisingly a fruity scent hmm 🤨 packed with the juiciest pears ever. for a minute, the pear note in this reminded me of my beloved l’extase. the honeysuckle is *a little* similar to jo malone’s honeysuckle and davana.

luckily all that sweetness shifted to something reminiscent cool clean breeze in the spring. the florals are overpowered by the fruits here sadly. although i can smell the sharp green note in here later accompanied with a touch of soapiness midway.. is it the hyacinth that’s causing the sharpness in here? i think so? hahah

however i must say this is a successful blind buy for me 😙 9/10!
btw... for some reason, i can’t stop smelling this one on paper (& wrist) LOL seriously

rebs777

I like it,it's a nice floral perfume, clean and sharp, but turns sour on my skin...

JessVanEgg

This fragrance is a fresh and happy floral scent. It’s very green but in a happy way. I feel like I’m walking through a botanical garden, and I am saying that as someone who usually strongly dislikes floral scents.

The sillage is moderate at first, and the longevity is pretty good, lasting up to 6 hours in my personal experience. It’s 100% a feminine smell. The value is fairly good imo.

All things considered, I’ll rate it a 8/10.

morkant

Such a buoyant, happy, pure and positive scent. Smells like a clean conscience. Evokes a sense of relaxed calm, poise and innocence. Basically a dewy soft green scent with a watercolour swirl of abstract florals supporting, on a starchy metallic base.

omenies

Very pretty scent. It smells like an old-money woman in her mid-twenties at a gala. Her hair is in an updo and she's wearing a black silk Paco Rabanne dress accessorized with lots of diamonds. She smells fresh, clean, and wealthy. There's a confident ease about her. It's admittedly a cooler scent and I tend to prefer warm scents but I still like this one. The lasting power is phenomenal. It literally lasts 48 hours on me. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Stellar performance. Can be worn all year round, in my opinion.

jeannebelmondo

This smells very expensive, but in a very carefully formulated and widely appealing way, in a similar vein to Coco Mademoiselle. I don't think I'd ever turn heads wearing it. But it definitely does smell rich and sophisticated. It has a similar "dewy"/herbal-fresh feel that Chloe EDP has, so if you like one, you'll definitely like the other. I absolutely agree with the lotion comparison that others have been giving. There is a powdery, soapy feeling to it that makes it smell like body lotion. Like a more expensive smelling version of something you'd get from Bath and Body Works. Also one of the most beautiful flacons I have ever seen that makes me want to keep my mini just to use it up and reuse the bottle.

For my aesthetic, it's just too preppy and well-manicured, but I can't stop sniffing my wrist anyway. A great choice for a designer floral-fruity-musk that won't make you smell like everyone else.

sibaaah

smells like fruit flavored gum

Susieb

A gorgeous icy crisp spring floral . Very linear , lasts on me about five hours . I think of a florists chiller room full of hyacinths and Lilly of the valley , not just the flowers but the greenery as well . Perfect for a warm spring day . Love it

EmilyVS

It certainly is a yellow floral!
That sharp hyacinth and bergamot are what you get at the first whiff. After that, they still linger, but behind a burst of bright yellow flowers which do not fade or dry down. It’s almost a pollen smell. Very Spring/Summer.
It is definitely not my taste. In fact, I don’t like it at all, but I’ll give it points for uniqueness.

Aland2020

Unlike other floral perfumes by Cartier, this one just smelled so generic and synthetic. Love their Baiser Vole fragrances, love their La Panthere, even really enjoyed the amaretto-heavy scent that was Du Dragon, although it didn't work on my skin chemistry. Cartier knows how to make a high quality perfume, although they never get the marketing they deserve and inevitably end up at discounters. (lucky for us). With so many fresh and green floral notes this had all the makings of being a hit. Like the new 24 Faubourg or something else Hermes-esque is what I envisioned. But unfortunately it was none of the things I imagined. It is a generic shampooey floral. I normally like a good pear note in a fragrance, I find it quite good in D&G The Only One and original Jimmy Choo. Pear can be done very well, but in here they somehow managed to make even that so synthetic and nondescript. None of the florals smell true to their nature on me, it's as though they all got thrown in a hefty bag-lined vat together and cancel each other out. There's absolutely nothing reminiscent of any natural qualities that a flower would have from any of the notes I'm smelling. The only redeeming facet of this fragrance release is the gorgeous bottle, which is really just a tragedy given the cheap haphazard juice they slapped in here.

I don't wanna blame the nose here, I'm sure they came up with an idea that was masterpiece worthy, but it's as though the actual team responsible for producing the fragrance decided to cheap out on the notes as much as they could and instead invest most of the money into a pretty bottle. Which I gotta say does look like a crystal cut skyscraper in person, I wish more than anything I could empty the juice down the drain and fill it with something more spectacular, but I'm not sure I would feel right doing that. I will probably just wind up giving this away, or using it as a room freshener until it's gone. And it's such a shame that is all I find this fragrance to be good for. Every time I wore it I was hoping that just maybe I had been mistaken all those other times and this time it would be different, but it never was. Quite linear and painfully boring shampoo was all I ever smelled. And not even a good quality shampoo, not one that would make you want to hug the person who's hair smelled like this longer. It smells like a no name brand from the stores where everything is $1 and you buy this in a pinch but it smells funky and burns your scalp, and you realize you've wasted your $1. That's how I feel about the scent of this fragrance.

jessica.arndt

I was so excited to try this perfume as I love florals. What I most smell at the beginning is a green note (probably from the tulips) and hyacinth. I love hyacinth smell but I've never smelled it so strong in a fragrance. After some time this perfume smells like a very luxurious body lotion.
It's a nice fragrance but I'm happy I only bought the travel size version (10ml). I can't picture myself wearing it... It's too serious, I usually like crispy and happy fragrances.
To me this is how I would like my grandmother to smell like, but not myself. Maybe I would like to have a soap with this fragrance but not a perfume.
Staying power on my skin is pretty good... Even after sport I can still smell it.

If you love sober and more serious florals you probably will like this.

Mamaterer

i have to be honest, the projection is weak. longevity on cloth is 5-6 hours. but the smell is very pretty and luxurious. i would suggest this to everyone who wants comforting scent to be worn at home. you can definitely smell the lily being combined with pear sweetness. the smell is like a delicate and fragile glass, but it continues to shine like a diamond. 10/10 for the smell. 3/10 for projection. however if people smell you, they will surely compliment you and think it is an expensive perfume.

witch_x3

I received a sample of this fragrance and when I first smelled it I thought it was a basic white floral. However, the fragrance really grows as it is a cold, green and fresh fragrance. I love the smell of hyacinth and this is a green hyacinth that isn't too overwhelming. I agree with other reviews that say this fragrance smells like frozen/refrigerated flowers and I find it absolutely lovely. This fragrance does not smell 'mature' or 'old' to me. I am a 29-year-old female and find it really fresh and youthful. I do own other floral fragrances that are a bit mature than this. It should be noted that I love floral, white floral and musky scents. I avoid woody scents so this is right up my street. There is something so clean and fresh about this so if that sounds up your street I'd recommend it. Because this fragrance has such a specific scent I would really only recommend it for Spring/Summer and daytime wear and for these 'times' it is perfect!

Planet_X

Totally lovable and adorable spring fragrance, where I was able to discover the best sweet-freshly-cut narcisses along with crispy-stemed early spring tulips. Touch of nectarous honeysuckle, fruity tone of ylang-ylang, - overall it is heady-dewy, spring-signature worthy juice. Lasting power and projection are superb, really, really pleased to be able to find out about this beauty! Carat has that uniqueness and romanticism that I was looking for! The breeze of the fresh wind from the flower fields!

Phedre1981

Reminds me of having to go to Easter service at church as a kid. I had to wear white tights, white patent leather shoes, some kind of pink ruffle dress, and even a slip! (this was the 80's) I felt very pretty and special at first, but it got old quick, and I would always get a run or snag in my tights. I will give this a real try come springtime, but I have a feeling it may be a like that Easter outfit for me. Its like a super fresh spring bouquet coming out of a (brand new) pair of white patent leather shoes with little diamond encrusted buckles!

brionica1013

This is very nice if you like hyacinth, but I unfortunately do not.

milkyjoa

Carat is a cool, fresh bouquet of flowers. I think it's the pear that gives it a kind of chilly sweetness. It's also a little green like wet leaves. It's just a pretty and pristine bouquet. It would be a good fit for someone who has simple tastes and is very put together. It's a little boring, but a safe buy if you're into florals.

hd76hd76

This perfume was a blind buy based of the reviews here and i’m so glad i did, it smells amazing, clean and herbal, it reminds me of old green wella conditioner i used to use back in the day, smells so similar to it if you know what i’m talking about. Bottle looks amazing too, it definitely worth a try.

RosaMilena

Extremely synthetic screechy thin sweet cloying pastel fruity floral on me. Opens with a small oversweet pear glacee and saccharine dusted grass in an orange tree grove. Lots of flowers blooming, yes there are hints of all notes that do sparkle out all at once and keep on glistening; like sharp facets in a swirling pastel candy jar. An ultra soapy detergent clean white musk anchors everything. It's a very cold white floral. I'd actually like my laundry to smell like this, but not me myself.

kimothie

strong, very clean, soapy pear opening quickly makes way for floral notes. There are A LOT of flowers in here, and that’s coming from someone who loves florals. It’s supposed to be the fragrant interpretation of diamonds, with a different note for every facet. My nose mostly picks out the ylang ylang which is a scent that can be pretty powerful, and honestly, I usually avoid it! I can also pick out the honeysuckle and violet.

It has a coldness to it, which is interesting because I find most scents smell warm on my skin. Despite the ylang ylang, I like it. It smells like a good “power scent” that I’d wear after taking a shower post workout, or wear to a springtime lunch meeting or something like that. It’s not memorable enough for a date, and not playful or fun enough to wear out with friends. Like I said, there’s a coldness, soapy ness, and powdery scent (I think it’s the white musk) that makes it smell a bit standoffish and chilly. It doesn’t really fit with my personality to be honest, but it does have an expensive smell that other people may like. I’m glad I didn’t splurge on the full bottle of this ($60 at tj maxx) but that bottle shape is quite pretty. I’m happy to keep this is in my collection because I needed a nice clean scent. Even the roller bottle is pleasing to look at.

Geenie G

This smells white, bright, definitely clean, fresh and refined. This is very pretty and grown up, and for a floral scent there is a lot going on - but maybe a little too much? Unfortunately something here is a little headache inducing for me, possibly the 'green notes' or lily. There's also something a little like pollen, a little like tuberose here. I like it, but not on me. I may need to scrub this off...

kobylnice

Edit: I bought it, loved it...but since I had Covid I can't stand it. The fruity notes are way overpowering, too sweet and "sticky". Sold it and I've been now looking for a new summer scent.

The Carat has very strong and sharp 'pear scent' opening. Fresh juicy pears are all I can smell for the first 15 minutes, later this fragrance morphs into a less fresh more sweetish but well blended flower scent. It's very pretty, ladylike, clean and expensive smelling perfume. Stays strong for 3+ hours, then weakens and turns into more flowery sweet powdery scent. I am so in love with this scent and it's on my 'want list'! I will purchase a full size bottle later in March, it'll be a great perfume for late spring/summer days.

MatureWhiteCollar

LOL, my wife picked this up for me as a Christmas stocking stuffer at a rack store discount bin. She had no idea what it smelled like or that it's designated as a "feminine" fragrance. It came packaged as a 15 ml roll on. I don't really pay much attention to the male / female labels on fragrances. If I like it, I'll wear it. So being clueless about it myself I slapped it on. It smells great but too floral / sweet for my taste. So I gifted it right back to her and she loves it.

With that stuff said, this is a very inoffensive fresh scent with moderate performance that should be very "safe" just about anywhere or any time of day. And that's exactly what my wife likes. It's very floral. I didn't get much of the Bergamot, Pear, or Green notes up top. But it smells really nice. It's a keeper, but for her, not me.

joliecat

Carat is a very fresh Spring green floral scent. It feels as if I rolled down a dewy grassy hill on an early Spring morning and landed in a bed of wild flowers. A hint of green mint gives Carat a cool feeling. The flowers seem to be blended in equal amounts so it's hard to pick out individual floral scents. I can detect hyacinth sweetening the cool green grass. Powdery mimosa floats like a smooth silk ribbon spinning in the air above my head. Naturally sweet, shimmery, uplifting and beautiful, Carat is strong, lasting easily on my skin for 10 hours with consistently moderate projection. I love it !

NoseE

Flowery, fruity, sweet, powdery and green. But cant identify the flowers. Bit unique.

Kiti89

This opened up quite harsh to my nose, an almost air freshener like sharpness and strength. It's very very floral, but I'm not getting any sweetness from it in the opening.

The mimosa is giving it a sparkly, bright feel, although I can't explicitly smell it.

It dries down to something I prefer, slightly powdery and it's sweetening up a little but it's sweet in a floral way, not sugary or fruity way. The greenness is coming out subtly and making it slightly creamy and fresh.

It's classy and mature, I get no fun from this. It's a serious, no nonsense scent. It's not something I can imagine myself wearing, it's a little too strong, dominating and doesn't match my personality! It's very nice though.

youngheart

This is a very unique and interesting perfume. It’s floral, but in a very abstract way. It makes me think of glass, smooth, shiny, bright, cold. It’s refined, feminine and delicate. Unfortunately it triggers my asthma so I will have to gift it. But even that will be a challenge because Carat is so non-mainstream, it will be difficult to find the right person for it.

Daphne2Laurel

I love the idea of creating a prism from every color of flower, but I'm afraid this worked more the way it would to mix every color of paint - it's all muddled together. That's not to say it's a muddy scent, but that it's just too many florals, not allowing any of them to stand out, so there's a lack of clarity. I don't know, it's fresh and pretty, though, but it's not quite living up to the prism concept for me.

jellybeantree

I just purchased this because I am missing a floral in my collection. I tried it once and I enjoyed it but can’t really remember . This fragrance isn’t very popular . Will update .

Update : This is extremely well made and seamlessly well executed. At first I was taken back by the greenness of it but it settles into to such a warm powdery floral that I must say is quite wonderful . It’s a very positive , comforting and comfortable fragrance but not just your average floral . This is definitely not for everyone and veers away from all the trends at the moment . Still it’s modern . If you are looking for an interesting floral slightly on the green side then give it a try . As the day goes on it gets more powdery from the mimosa . It’s lovely , pure light and refraction.

Supermonipower

The first time I got a tester and smelled this I was just WOWED! I couldn't believe what I had smelled. I think I have never smelled a fragrance that wowed me so much! I started watching YouTube videos and I was quite surprised: why is nobody talking about this fragrance? It is a BEAST! It even performs like a beast!! out of all my fragrances (and I have a huge collection) this is my longest wearing fragrance I own! Huge longevity and huge sillage!!

But... I have outworn this. I wore this for a week straight but after I had had enough of it. too bad because the performance is amazing. I also didn't get any compliments while wearing this (usually I get a lot of compliments from the people around me whenever I wear a new fragrance).

This also smells a lot like pear!! But the floral notes with the pear are blended like a pro.

Definitely try this out!!

poohbearwinnie

This, like the name, smells RICH. This smells classy and like money. First sprayed it, you get the coldness and the sharpness which reminds me of a metallic flower and over time, it transforms and becomes more soapy as it dries down. Longevity is pretty good, it starts off sharp and quite metallic within the first 2 hrs and then dries down soapy after 6 hrs or so and lingers. In the winter time, it's more sharp and in the summer, you can smell the sweeter floral notes more.

The name is very fitting, and the bottle is absolutely stunning. Cartier knocked it out of the park with this one and I find it pretty unique in the scent.

gmr1967

The perfume of the diamond, for the creator nose of this fragrance, should probably be just like that: a fresh perfume, a cold scent like metal, a single white color. On my skin the lily, the tulip and the honeysuckle are very predominant to create a clean and very, very crystalline mix. I dare say a perfume almost Serge Lutens .... The first hour the fragrance remains like this ... but then the magic comes. The skin warms this perfume and here it comes, shy, violet and ylang ylang that make it powdery. Not too much, the "metallic" of the beginning remains but less brazen. I understand that as a perfume it must be fully understood. I think it's really collectible and not for everyone. But ... if you love to dare, start with a sample. Don't give up on the first impression !!

Zahraa555

I would describe it as smelling frozen flowers 😂 it is clean, powdery, soapy, soft and airy. Very good for spring and before going to sleep. Very calming. I thought it is going to be sweet because of pear, but it is more like fresh than sweet.
Hyacinth and musk are prominent.

labonvie

A very sweet, cold floral. I like it. At first I was reminded of Pleasures, how crisp, bracing and almost chilly that fragrance can be. Carat is much less screechy and never turns soapy as Pleasures does as it dries down.
On my skin the two notes that stand out are pear and lily. I think of it as a much simpler, sweeter, aldehyde-free version of La Vierge de Fer by Serge Lutens. Very different perfumes but both play with pear and lily. In the case of Carat, I wish there was something to balance out the syrupy pears.
Overall, it’s really pretty. While it’s not my usual style of floral I can see myself reaching for this often especially in summer.
Longevity is surprisingly good for such a light, bright scent. I can still smell it on my skin (faint but still present) 16 hours after application. I’m impressed.

Apiaceae

I really enjoy wearing this scent. Although not hall of fame worthy, this gem is a dumb reach for me. Smells like the month of May. Although filled with early spring flowers, Carat has a warmth that I associate with a late spring or early summer. I mostly smell the hyacinth and the pear with a bit of a green-wet background. Strong and long lasting enough to be a good everyday fume!

ladyjm89

The bottle is unique and beautiful. But I couldn’t get crazy about the scent.

It smells very elegant & clean (think pricey luxury brand soap). But amidst a sea of “clean” smells this one just does not stand out for me. It’s not bad by any means, but it’s lacking depth and character. White Tea by EA is another similarly clean fresh perfume that’s kind of nameless, genderless, etc. but I prefer White Tea to Carat. Carat does not project, and will not get you noticed, in fact you might not even notice it unless you are putting your nose directly to your wrist. Longevity is poor. This one’s going back to the store.

Scent 6/10
Sillage 3/10
Longevity 4/10

Spencemonster

Such a beautiful scent. Unique bottle and topper. The scent is so fresh and clean. I love how it is sharp yet clean. The way it is green and fresh but has a bit of a starchy flowery powder to it. Just really well done. This one I could wear day night summer spring fall.

artsyrn

After going through a couple samples of this perfume and deciding I enjoyed this very much, I ordered I full bottle and sent one to my BFF for her birthday.
Carat is not groundbreaking, she is simply a sparkling, very fresh, slightly clean musky symphonic floral beauty that works very well in warm weather, is safe to wear just about anywhere, will not offend sensitive noses and seems to garner many compliments.

lsivokhina

Carat instantly reminded me of Champs Elysees by Guerlain but with a strong note of hiacynth which actually smells very “lilacey” (lilac is one of the dominant notes of Champs Elysees). Sadly, hiacynth overpowers all the other beautiful floral notes such as narcissus and tulip. I wish they were more pronounced.

In summary, it’s a nice spring floral fragrance but you’ve definitely smelled it before. No resemblance to Eau D’Ivoire by Balmain, in my opinion.

rakan1985

scent : 8/10
sillage : 8/10

Ray Lidya

The scent is like winter sun faces all the cold flowers. It's for someone who adore clean perfumes. It's a very sophisticated, romantic, clean, slightly musky perfume. The hyacinth and violet are quite modern here because of the combination with the musk and I love it. If it was a girl, she was an innocent, pure, effortlessly beautiful girl. If it were colors, it would be colors of aurora dancing swiftly in the sky. If it was a stone, definitely a diamond

chinook

Carat opens with bitter citrus rind that smells more like lime than bergamot. Then it morphes into a floral that smells more like a 2000s throwback. You don’t really smell any particular water, just the aquatic accord. It’s cold, sterile, and dare I say... unisex? Overall, Carat is a fresh floral that has the sharp cut of a diamond without the multifacetedness. It has the piercing light but not the glisten. Not a safe blindbuy unless you like citrus freshies.

Mullingarynka

Sparkling white and green flowers that's what it is. Smells like a diamond! Beautiful perfume! It is gorgeous for the first 10 minutes but later turns a bit less pleasant to me as the bitter notes comes out. Anyhow overall its lovely fragrance. Different then most perfumes on the market. It has something unusual. When I spray it, I can feel it only on my skin, it doesn't stay on clothes somewhow. The projection and longevity is average.

Amascent

Elegant, soft, and plesant. Beautiful.

Cams

This is stunning - I anticipated a clash of floral notes, but to my joy and delight this is doing wonderful things on my skin; ladylike lily contrasts with fresh hyacinth, violet and ylang ylang. I'm in heaven! This is a must try to see how it develops on your skin ( not a blind buy).

Petals_and_Perfumes

12/08/19 - I’m so relieved I sampled this first! I was :thisclose: to just splurging on a bottle based on the company scent description.

The base note to my nose is nauseating and - unfortunately - lasts for hours and hours. So if you’re in love with this frag - that’s excellent news. But if you’re like me, the longer I smelled it, the more my stomach turned. Maybe it’s the violet-mimosa combo? A reviewer below mentioned benzoin - even though it’s not listed, that reviewer nailed it! Yes! I definitely smell that note. It just smells old and dated to me. I can’t imagine a young lady desiring to smell like this. It’s definitely for a more mature woman.

I actually have 4 1/2 tiny samples of it, and sadly I must pitch them all into the garbage. I don’t ever want to smell this again.

Rozan

I like everything in this composition, except violet and mimosa. Flower arrangements are a difficult topic. Flowers need to be skillfully combined if you want to create a clean, but not a soapy composition. Carat, like most similar compositions, it shows all its beauty at lower temperatures. It is crystal clear and delightful. The higher the temperature, the more uphill, because the powdery violet and mimosa change the composition into a creamy soap. I appreciate Carat, but I will end my adventure on a casting, because I am looking for this crystallinity at higher temperatures, in low I prefer to wrap myself with sweetness.

Black Bat

I received my bottle of Cartier Carat a couple of days ago. I was disappointed by how strong and cloying it was.It was so strong it made me cough. It's in the same scent strength as Red Door and Beautiful. It's a stunningly beautiful bottle, but that's it for me.

If any of you are interested in a 3.4 bottle, sprayed once, let me know.

kastehelmi

If you like sweet modern violet, mixed with lighter greener florals, lacking skin type musk, or woods, you might enjoy Carat. It is strange, because it has a few notes that smell quite natural individually, but the overall result is overwhelmingly synthetic. There is a light crisp fresh aura that is pleasant, but this reminds me of laundry detergent, because of this particular strong blend of sweetness and crisp fresh notes. I think I am not a fan of hyacinth, and I don't like this style of violet perfume. I think Molinard Violette has some of the same level of sweetness and freshness, but it is much more lovely. The lily, narcissus, tulip and honeysuckle facets are pleasant, but the sharp grassy qualities here tend to just sit on the skin rather than blend to create a better scent. But the bottle is beautiful, and I believe this would be an inoffensive fragrance for many.

lilymorena

Nice natural elegant floral fragance that reminds me La Tulipe from Byredo wich I have and like. The first time I tested it was in the summer and it was a headache inducing. Maybe an overspray? However as a lily and Cartier lover I had to try it again. Today a nice sunny fall weather it smells as fresh white flowers in a spring garden. It is a friendly office scent perfect for indoors and no headache inducing at all. I am glad I kept the bottle.

Sofia333

Same line and category as Dior Addict eau de Fraiche, Versace Bright Crystal, transparent colors, lightness. Except this is a tad above is class. Simple and elegant in the clean light aspect but NOT soapy clean, just classy lightness, airy like a white linen dress.

sjtdz

this was my summer scent since the outside was just oh so hot and muggy

i wanted something fresh and lively and this sure did it! however it didn't last long, it was very green, it didn't feel like i was wearing perfume and while it was nice i don't think it mixed with my skin scent well enough to become me.

i'm more of an amber/incense skin kinda gal and so there was just too much conflict.

sibaraa

This is 80's floral. A loud slap in the face of the hyacinth, kind of turns benzoiny after 10 mins. Very, very similar to jessica mcclintock. It's like its dupe at 100%.

outofocus

It it weren't for the Cartier name on this box I would say it's a generic french perfume.

Nancy83

I got a sample and I was afraid it would have been too floral floral, I don't specifically love heavy flowers oriented fragrances, but this one got me hook in the first sniffs.

The opening is a lot of pears bergamot, very green and juicy, then a few minutes later the perfume morphs into a fresh well blended bouquet of flowers. I'm not sure if I'm into all of these flower notes, but it was still generally very agreeable, feminine cute. I would say the longevity is moderate and the projection average good for 2-4 hours, then I get sniffs of it for 6-8 hours and after it's more a sweet powdery skin scent for the rest of the day, I can still smell it on my clothes the day after.

I personally love it more than the Cartier floral Baiser Volé, I think Carat is more soft and well balanced. Even if I love it I'm still unsure if I'm gonna buy it, because I'm not the most floral floral girl, it's not a priority buy, but I'm gonna finish the sample easily when I'm in a floral mood and who knows, maybe a couple of tries will change my mind. After trying different Cartier samples, my heart goes more for the earthy vanilla Must De Cartier Gold, but if you love soft floral floral scents I suggest to give Carat a try.

melancholybaby

For some rather unfanthomable reason, I love this perfume. It is light, airy, uplifting and delicate. There is to my nose no note that stands out, there is no key moment, it is simple and wonderful for spring and summer wear. On my skin it does not appear to last long - there is a wisp of a scent that lingers, but it seems to vanish rather quickly. Depite this, I find myself reaching for it frequently on these hot summer days.

gpaisley

This beautiful cold, white, light, crisp, crystalline floral fragrance reminds me of American Eagle - aerie blue bird perfume.

P.S. I also smell a hint of fresh lemon rind/zest/peel.

Missisjoker

I smell Lilac. A very soft, sweet lilac. And i LOVE it.
This is a very nice floral- soft, not cloying, a little sweet- perfect for day wear. It can be a little soapy on the skin, so try before you buy it.

clairebear1

Very sharp floral that is just okay. It smells like spring flowers but the problem is it's cloying. It will soften a bit over time but fails to develop into anything different or appealing. It's a no for me. Elizabeth Arden 5th Ave. is way better and has the same spring flower vibe to it.

taureanrage69

Carat is to me a very straightforward floral, a quiet whisper of a fragrance, very prim and well-mannered but not a vintage type of scent or too mature for younger people. There's not one particular floral note that stands out to me, instead it's an overall idea of a flower garden on a cool summer morning when everything is still wet with dew. This lacks the warmth that most of my favorite florals have, but that's not a bad thing, a little bit cooler is nice sometimes. It doesn't last more than a couple of hours on my skin, but is a pleasant choice when looking for a quiet perfume that won't offend people that don't like perfume, if that is at all possible.

Martaynd

April 2019: What a perfect fragrance for Easter when the weather is pleasant. In SoCal, where the temps can fluctuate by 10 degrees or more in one day, this performs wonderfully; in direct sunlight or shade. It's light, fresh, and crisp, but lasts, which is a feat in itself. So "over" the gourmand trend we have experienced in the last 2 decades. BRING ON THE FLOWERS!!!! Lots and lots of flowers!!! Carat brings them and in a very elegant way. It's not at an outrageous price point that you can't wear this one regularly and then go get another bottle. Carat can be worn in the office, church, brunch, etc. I'm wearing it now and have no plans to go anywhere. I just want to smell good at home. It can be worn by young or mature. Very feminine (imo). Pleased to add it to my collection.

TwoCrows

I think I must have sampled Carat three times before finally settling on getting a bottle of it. Upon testing it in the store, the longevity just didn't seem promising, but I kept going back to it, thinking about how lovely it smelled. With that said, this is one of the prettiest florals I have found in quite awhile - even the lily, a note that doesn't often compliment me, is beautifully blended with the other floral notes. The green-ness provides an added sparkle and it eventually dries down to a very light and sweet powder. I find this fragrance so girly and ethereal (as though she's the fun little sister among the more powerful Cartier florals). It's sparkling, fresh, and an overall happy fragrance - one that makes me think of an early Spring morning as the sunshine hits the crisp and dewy blooms.

As for longevity, it's the only thing Carat could improve on, but with the decent projection and the 2-3 hours longevity, I really don't mind respraying this more; it's truly that beautiful.

Bubbles1964

I’m a fan of the perfumer and have several in my collection that are favorites. Here again, Mathilde Laurent has created a smooth, very natural representation: this time it’s a spring garden in full bloom.

Hyacinth is in front for about ten minutes but then lily takes over. It’s the same lily that’s in Baiser Vole. Mimosa and violet come in and join the party. It’s possible that I’m smelling honeysuckle but I’m not sure. Tulips and daffs are more waxy feeling than scented, and that is what they smell like here: creamy wax.

Musk helps take this scent into the drydown, this stage lasts about an hour. There’s nothing weird or out of place in the composition, but there’s also no little surprise. I still love it but wish for that one unexpected note that would make Carat unique.

I may not call this a masterpiece but I would wear it. Hand clapping and a hat tip to Mathilde Laurent.

Forbiddenjade

I don't understand why some people talk of shampoo notes here. I am buffled because in my experience and that of friends who tried Carat this turns out to be completely untrue.

I personally wore Carat for over a week on test and it never, ever smelled as such. And I tried thousands of different shampoos over the course of my life.

This is a fantastic fragrance, a standout from the crowd of the boring fruitchulies and gourmands released in recent years. A triumph of splendid, fresh and juicy flowers - with a hint of greenish note, very realistic - much spring rain like! - and both great longevity and sillage.

I highly recommend this to floral lovers, you won't regret a buy. Samples are sold on Ebay if you prefer to test before you do so.
Personally, this is a 10/10 on all fronts: originality, longevity, sillage and character.

sphynxcat

I tested this in a dept store and thought I liked it so I got a couple of samples.
I'd definitely call it sparkling and bright, so the diamond reference is an apt one. It's a greenish spring floral bouquet with a prominent pear note. It has both sweet and tangy elements and smells like a fresh fruity-floral. But, while wearing it and getting strong wafts of it, it reminded me strongly of shampoo- like Nutrisse Garnier, but maybe a little less sweet and fruity. It's also in the vein of Miu Miu perfume, not in smell, but in category. It's something one might wear to an afternoon wedding.
I can see why it's likeable, but ultimately it's a little too harsh and synthetic smelling for me, and vaguely generic-like the smell of a test strip in a magazine. I also found it fairly linear with the musk lingering until the next day. The far drydown smells a little like pond water to me :/

bronni666

I’ve just received my bottle of carat and my initial thought were that it’s been done before. It may transform into something lovely but at the moment I’m getting a note that I don’t like. Lily perhaps or mimosa combination but to me it smells like lychee. It reminds me of Balmain’s extatic or aura by schwaroski. Fingers crossed it goes away or I will be looking to swap my 100 ml bottle.

malenapo

Some notes from Baiser Vole - Lily is making both a bit suffocating - depite of a beautiful modern French commercial it is an old lady flowery fragrance - Lily stamps its foot. Cartier flowery fragrances are made for olderly ladies.

Joys of life

This smells completely different depending on where I spray it. The bright floral aspects come out more quickly on my wrists while the pear and musk are more prominent on chest. Carat develops quickly in a pattern that reminds me of citric perfumes, and I sense way more bergamot in this than the votes on right are reflecting.
Two things; 1. I really like the floral notes - I especially LOVE mimosa as a basenote, joined by the tulip and daffodil notes which I love - and bergamot - so fresh! And 2. that pear-musk drags down the light floral feeling by injecting a yucky victorias secret vibe (unless that's your thing, and then why pay more for Cartier?). At first blush the pear is so realistic but on dry down it's lingering and SO synthetic... unfortunately that's combining with the bergamot peel vibe in unfortunate ways on my skin!

Still this is nice, it's like I can imagine where the perfumer was going and it could have been just marvelous. Now I'm off to search for a tulip, daffodil, mimosa, iris perfume inspired by this!

I smelled this recently in Nordstroms and I was expecting another fresh floral that was not going to wow me in any way. Boy, was I surprised. As another reviewer said, opening is kind of typical fresh floral but give a few minutes and you will get beautiful floral aquatic, so light and fresh, so young and pretty smelling. This is not your "I am walking through floral garden" thing. Its "I am young well to do woman who put on some trendy clothes, picked up my Chanel bag and went out to lunch with equally beautiful and faboulous friends". Its watery fresh yet not overtly floral, nor falling into realm of green. Not sure how they do it but it makes a very beautiful and expensive smelling scent.

Lasting power was so so on me. One spray lasted about 2 hours, and then turned into mostly skin scent. I mean, most light fragrances do not last long so I guess it's not a deterent for me. I am usually into heavier fragrances but this beauty would be amazing in the humid summer.

The opening reminds me of every white floral ever, but give it 30 minutes...and WOW, what a beautiful scent! Smooth, pretty, clean and expensive smelling! Like a classy lady on a spring morning. Just lovely!
The reviewer below me is absolutely correct...it's bright, fresh, floral, white and clean. Perfection!

EllenaDsk

There is only one word that I can use to describe this fragrance - HEAVENLY!

I knew I will love it since the first time I saw the commercial, but I didn't expect to love it this much.

It's bright, fresh, floral, white and clean. I am sure I will soon buy it and add it to my collection.

Rene007

in some way It reminds me smell of a book

Truffles_L

Cartier Carat opens on me with lots of aldehydes and a blast of spring flowers. This part does evoke the diamonds in their marketing imagery. The mid notes are fruity floral. It envelopes me in the sparkly scent with a medium sillage.

It is a very pretty and feminine skin scent at seven hours.

The packaging is an understated beauty. Overall I enjoy this fragrance, but it will not be a hero in my collection. For me, it feels a bit more elegant than a work scent. It could be a great bottle for someone who wants to feel confident and bright.

Forbiddenjade

An unusual floral, very pleasant.

If you don't like crisp florals, stay away friend.

First spray: hyacint and lime march forward at full force, with pear following them a step behind. Mimosa takes its time to reach them, a few minutes after, to soften the trio crispness. It's like a lady joining three gentlemen in conversation: suave, enchanting, delicate in her approach.

The fragrance mellows rather slowly, developing into a comforting, soft white floral, very lightly soapish scent.
Very pleased overall, it's a "well done" Cartier for bringing out there something completely different from the trendy.

PS: sirop de Liege, totally share your sentiment! Well put.

Update: it's been 30 minutes since I sprayed on Carat... NOW I'm truly impressed! 10/10 from me!!!!

2nd Update: ... and it keeps going! After a few hours, Carat unleashes its primal, magical spell. Could anyone wish for more? No.

ENCHANTING!

I have a sample. This is a bright, joyful, abstract floral with a hint of fruit. Easy to wear. It has a crispness that reminds me of White Linen a little bit but there isn’t as much aldehyde (if any) in Carat. The floral component is the star of the scent as it drys down instead of aldehydes like in White Linen. Very nice. The bottle looks so pretty in pictures. I have Basier Vol which is more feminine, softer, less bright and crisp and without the hint of fruit. I think this is a youthful, lovely scent.

tommy_girl

a nice white floral perfume in a nice bottle that matches the perfume inside with the name of the house cartier on it.
The perfume starts with strong blast of white flowers, mixed with green notes. I thought I smelt tuberose, as it's a little velvety as well, but if it's narcissus that's great, because I mostly don't find narcissus on perfumes interesting (although love it as a flower). The concept of perfume reminds me some of Lalique perfumes (l'amour or Fleur de crystal) and As the time passes, I think I smell something more aquatic which might be the effect of hyacinth.
Carat is definitely elegant and of high quality, But at the same time, don't expect to be wowed. It is nothing more than a white floral perfume that can get too much on your nose. It tries to remain lady-like, but I don't think would satisfy classic perfume lovers. On the other hand, won't attract the attention of gene Z or even millennials either. The long lasting power and sillage are acceptable, but I should warn if you're sensitive to synthetic notes.

Cogmarks

The bottle is beautiful, but the fragrance in it stinks. It is an overpowering sweet floral. The odor hit me like a sledgehammer. It Smells like a very cheap drugstore perfume. What a disappointment! I have been wearing Cartier fragrances since Must de Cartier came out.

For sure, this is not the perfume for the ones that adore Must De Cartier, Must II, or old Panthera, even Gold, Le Baiser Du Dragon and many more from Cartier. It is made for persons that likes florals, obviously, but for me it was shockingly unpleasant, because I never expected it, and tried it blindly. I had to scratch it immediately. I usually like perfume creations by Cartier, different ones for different moods or seasons.

mademoiselle-c

This is a very airy, light, yet well compose floral. I quite like this fragrance and think it has serious potential. But, herein lies the rub: the longevity is atrocious. While silage is relatively decent, I can’t get this to last more than an hour on me. A real shame since this fume has potential to be a winner and an addition to my wardrobe. If you don’t mind fleeting fragrances, and love well blended florals, give it a try. However, until they come out with a steonger, longer lasting version, I’m out.

what is this I don't even

Smelling it from the bottle, this is a glorious composition of lily, hyacinth, greenery, daffodil, tulip, etc with each of them getting a turn to sparkle as the scent develops! As a springtime floral fan, this is such a lovely treat in a time where sweet fruitchouli perfumes seem to dominate. Once on my own skin, however, this turns screechy and makes me nauseated, and so I've gifted my bottle away. Hopefully the recipient will be able to wear and enjoy it!

cherubkiss

Totally in love with this beautiful fragrance. The floral notes are blended to perfection. Classy, fresh, airy and it makes you feel good. Love it!!!

meg0825

Cartier Carat is a beautiful blend of white, yellow, and green florals with a clean musky base. It's very delicate and refined. A perfect fragrance for spring. Exquisite!

indigo

A light airy abstract floral? - well ok, BUT only for about 10 minutes on my skin. It then quickly became really sweet/ambery & kind of generic smelling. There's a LOT of laundry type musk in the base of this which even outlives that persistent "sweet generic" synthetic note I pick up. I notice that note in a lot of new releases. I'm not sure what it is, presumably one of the latest trendy aromachemicals. Whatever it is, it dominates the perfume, especially in the middle notes. I can't detect hyacinth or lily, or any other individual floral notes. I can tolerate the huge dose of cheapo musk, but the muddly cloying mid notes don't work for me.

The press release seems focused on a sparkling fresh floral aspect, which on my skin is not how it is. I ought to add that I don't have a sweet tooth so my "sweet" threshold is low - I find Carat too sweet, & to my nose it's not fresh & is definitely NOT green either. The description & concept of Carat just doesn't correlate with how it actually smells to me, but we're all different & ymmv. I actually tested this 3 times because I was sure (initially) that I must've mistaken it for something else.

It lasted well on my skin & that laundry musk lasts for days on a paper strip. I'm trying to be diplomatic here, but (deep down) I believe the scent itself just smells like a low budget job, in a lovely bottle. I feel as if Cartier are relying on "the power of suggestion" with this - & I'm not convinced by it. Honestly, I feel really disappointed.

Eta: I think Byredo La Tulipe is a far better interpretation of a similar idea...And I think that the generic sweet ambery note is the dreaded “amberwood” which makes it cloying to some - even though it’s not listed.

greenbluegray

Cartier fragrances escaped my notice for a long time, probably because I don't live near high end stores. But a sample of Baiser Vole made me crazy about the creations of the brilliant Mathilde.

My sample of Carat struck me as genteel, pure floral innocence, and a big end note of ART GUM ERASER. And this is not a bad thing because I love those Pla-Doh-y notes that I cannot really figure out the origins of.

Please tell me if I am crazy. I totally get childhood art classes with a new wonderful eraser with that great putty sort of smell. I could never stop sniffing them. My spouse could not pick it up at all when I demanded his opinion, but maybe I am insane.

Many sprays later, I can barely smell it. So I would not spring for a bottle. Is there such a thing as a strong tulip scent?

COSMICSCENTS

I tried it yesterday and was excited when I saw the girl promoting it with the tester in her hands. I had her spray my wrist and blotter. I am not happy to say that I am dissapointed. I was expecting a bright fresh scent and I could barely smell this one. The scent is there but very faint and is more like a soft floral than fresh. It is nice though, very safe for sure.

I always have a thing for cartier perfumes for the beautiful bottles... they are not fancy, but timelessly classy, elegant. However I tested a couple of them and they all have an old lady feel... maybe my nose doesn’t agree with the woody notes. This newly launch perfumes makes me go to the cartier boutique to have a try.

Unlike duty free or department store, the cartier boutique services is always excellent. I m trying the carat perfume n they make me feel I m trying a carat of diamond ☺️

My judgement maybe affected by the whole environment but I do like this perfume at first sniff. My husband likes it too. It’s a boutique of flowers, wit a hint of sweetness. The right amount of sweetness against the sea of syrup perfumes in recent years. It doesn’t have the old lady feel issue like other cartier perfume. This one is like a young woman in pastel color maxi dress holding a bouquet, romantic n fairy like.

It reminds me of a less fruity n more floral jo malone blue bell. I do agree with other reviewers that it belongs to spring. I still but it right away. Can’t stand missing this beautiful bottle n beautiful scent.

Kterhark

A 'thumbs up' fragrance as long as you don't give it your full attention.
I've liked this all evening while running errands, but now that I'm resting on the couch a more disjointed story is emerging. The feeling I get in my body is wetness, cold and caution. As if I'm walking barefoot on sloped granite while rain pours down. I fear I'll lose my footing, and that fear comes from not having anything real to sink into. This fragrance is too much "test tube" and not enough "natural". I'm curious to read more reviews from folks.

SuzanneS

Beautiful bottle. If your into fresh clean florals this is for you. A clean abstract musky floral.I still couldnt help think fancy dish washing soap because of all the laundry musk base and abstract florals....

DarlingNikki

SherryBerry: Are you thinking of Vivid by Liz Claiborne? Oh, my goodness, I was obsessed with that scent when I was younger! I never could wear it though because even though it was a fresh, clean, radiant type of fragrance (like Carat), the freesia in it smelled too screechy to my nose. Carat falls in the same fresh, clean, natural, green category, but without the dreaded freesia and I can see myself wearing this when I need to just smell shower-fresh, simple and dewy.

masako_30

For me, it is a gem, a little masterpiece of grace and elegance, a refined scent based on hyacinth and lily.
Awesome as regards both dosage of notes and intimate (as well as sublime) projection.
Magnifique.

miss mills

Honeysuckle and hyacinth with green fresh notes carry this composition to me into an "almost" green apple territory. I appreciate Cartier fragrances for being a little different to the sea of patchouli/vanilla/grapefruit perfumes around at the moment but I wouldn't personally wear this one. I prefer Baiser Vole's gentle lilies. Carat is snappy and bright, monosyllabic. Could see this being a favourite for someone who is very sporty, tennis whites spring to mind.

sherryberry

I have an interesting story about this one. I was in Nordstrom yesterday, and finally got to sample Cartier Carat. Well, immediately I knew it reminded me of something I had smelled before, but knew inside that it was a perfume from a while ago. The sales associate sprayed it on my inner arm for me. After a minute or so, I mentioned to the sales associate that it reminded of a lighter version of Liz Claiborne from the 80's. The sales associate didn't seem too happy about my revelation. She chimed in that maybe they did smell alike, but the Cartier was of much higher quality. Interesting, huh? Anyway, I did enjoy Carat. I do really like it, because it is very different from current day perfume offerings. What I did notice, is that it had a bit of a retro smell, which is really up my alley.

sirop de Liège

I tested Carat and bought a bottle without hesitation!
You have to love floral perfumes to appreciate Carat. I applaud Cartier for going against main stream perfume trends. Carat is not gourmand, has no sweetness or patchouli and is not a 'girly' perfume.
I do think Cartier didn't get the timing right to launch Carat, it's more suitable for spring imo.
It is a very fresh and airy perfume that makes me feel like I'm in a florists shop!
Sillage is moderate and it lasts a good six hours on my skin but I could still smell it on my t-shirt after 24 hours.

StellaDiverFlynn

The opening of Cartier Carat is surprisingly powerful, with a pungent green sappy aroma reminiscent of hyacinth, but not as quite realistically vegetal and somehow shimmering with a metallic sheen of aldehyde, and even mixed with a hit of that cyanide astringency of bitter almond, like an alien plant gilded in silver metal oozing neon green poison.

Carat takes on a more innocent persona with time, when the initial futuristic green aldehyde aspect dissipates to reveal a pristine, dewy, clean abstract musky floral. I'm unable to identify any specific flower in the note list, but the whole effect reminds me mostly of freesia, adorned with tiny sparkles of mineral and aquatic nuances.

The fragrance then remains more or less the same afterwards, only turning more musky and abstract with time until the end. The sillage of Carat is relatively soft, while the longevity is around 8 hours on me.

Although I'm unable to envision all the rainbow colours implied in press release, Carat indeed evokes sparkling diamonds quite well, from the clean, bright, crystalline musky floral to the mineral/metallic accents. The confident, vigorous green aldehydic opening also leaves a strong impression before the perfume falls back to a more familiar, versatile, modern clean musky floral. If you enjoy this type of fragrance in general but would like something with a stronger personality, Carat is worth considering in my opinion.

MariaTD

I like it very much. It reminded me strongly of Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue though. Therefore it's less unique than I hoped it would be. After So Pretty de Cartier I am still waiting to find the same uniqueness...

woodlandwalk

I think people who enjoy Chanel 5, or Idylle, or perhaps Carnal Flower, will enjoy this one.

It's a fresh, bright and dewy, yet abstract floral bouquet. Do note though, that if you're not very keen on aldehydes you might find this perfume difficult.

I think even if you're not keen on aldehydes it's one of those very easy-to-wear elegant florals - by which I mean, even if it troubles your nose up close, it's still going exude a classy, fresh sillage that will be pleasing to most people.

Sadly Carat does nothing for me, though I do absolutely love Baiser Vole. I think that Baiser Vole is slightly more unusual, it's softer though equally distinct. I tend to seek perfumes that 'meld' with me, or my skin, and Carat doesn't seem to do that - it's probably not meant to since diamonds are more sparkly than melty!

The flower I notice most in Carat is hyacinth, if you're a bit iffy about hyacinth and aldehydes then I wouldn't recommend a blind buy.

This is a lovely perfume for those who enjoy fresh, aldehydic florals - Mathilde Laurent has definitely created a winning, sparkling floral in Carat.

@ravjan

Narcissus is the name of the genus of plants that daffodil belongs to. A daffodil or jonquil note will always be listed as narcissus.

ravjan

The press dossier from Cartier does not quote lily in the list of ingredients but it does list iris. Also it talks about daffodil rather than narcissus. Love this crystalline abstract flower to bits!

Olya-la

A refined and aristocratic fragrance in a bottle which matches it perfectly. It is very romantic, has a spring aura, can be compared with a thin light flowery veil fluttering in the wind.

Stunning! Gorgeous! Beautiful!!!
The bottle is amazing and it represents the scent very truly. At first there is a blast of lily and violet but later i smell a more dominant tulip note. Heliotrope is here as well in a very gentle way presented. Its all just so beautifully blended together im just speechless. Only con for me is a lower sillage than i would want to. Now in september its probably not the right time for this fragrance but this would be amazing for spring. Cant wait to get my hands on this beauty. Im getting more and more love for Mathilde Laurent compositions. They are all so perfectly blended. This carat is like a sheer silky veil.
Yes from me!

Release the voting already!!!!

Mr. Beaux

This shares the same concept as the new Joy by Dior but in the case of Carat the concept is beautifully done by Mathilde Laurent.

While Joy by Dior smells like an irritating fruity-floral body spray, Carat is a fresh, powdery and beautiful floral composition. Just an hyperrealistic recreation of a spring bouquet. This is how you create a wide-appealing and commercial fragrance, but never boring or banal.

Bravo Cartier!!!

Ohhellozippy

A very fresh luminous fruity airy scent. Something to feel really good. And young! love at first sniff for me.

floral08

Blind buy, just because I like to explore Cartier fragrances, 30 ml bottle from Cartier website US.

It's an airy, delightful, joyful and pleasant floral, for me without any seasonal restrictions.
.
Easy to wear with moderate sillage and longevity. It isn't a love but a definite like. The notes ( 7 florals) are blended expertly by Mathilde Laurent to create a bright feminine fragrance.

Edit: I've been wearing this lovely for 3 days in a row and it's a huge love for me now. It's an uplifting fragrance and makes me very happy.

WhiteVelvet

I got a sample of Carat from Cartier today. This is lovely.
I like this a lot. I will be getting this in full size.
When I can. I have several Cartier perfumes in my collection.
I like them all. I am usually not disappointed in Cartier
perfumes ever.

vanillaflower77

This is very airy and not overwhelming at all!!! I LOVE this so much. It’s so feminine and not cloying. It smells so lovely

COSMICSCENTS

Great name and beautiful bottle. I am very excited for this launch. I love when perfume houses make brand new perfumes and not just flankers. Cartier makes beautiful perfumes and I know this one will be a must have for me:)

sarah.brooks

This is a very bright fresh floral parfum got handed a couple of samples the other day at the Mall...they didn't have the bottle.. but very nice job Cartier

I love all floral notes very much!
