This is, no doubt, one of the best Chanel perfumes. Of course everything is a matter of personal taste:) From the Chanel House I have Coromandel, Coco Madmoiselle Intense EDP and Coco EDP. The latter is delicious! It does have a slightly vintage vibe but it doesn't bother me at all, also because it disappears quite quickly after the first spray. Then, the fragrance becomes rounder, softer and warmer. I think it's civet that gives the perfume the spicy undertones. Coco EDP is quite a versatile perfume which can be worn in spring, summer, fall and winter. It is preferable (but again, it depends on personal taste) to use it under 30 degress. It is office friendly if you don't overuse it; otherwise it can turn too strong or even suffocating.
I have been wearing it almost non-stop for the last two weeks and feel very comfortable with it. I use at at home, when I work from home, but also when I go out.
Really nice, golden fragrance. Worth having in your perfume collection!

My very favorite Chanel. I received a sample while in HS when it was first released. It was in a miniature chanel bottle - so cute. And that sample which likely was at least 5ML maybe more - lasted me a whole month. It was so strong and long lasting you had to be very careful with it.

It's been reformulated obviously- the longevity and silliage and waaaaay more muted. Still one of my favorites as well as my daughter's (26). It's not something I wear all the time but it's a classic amber and I think influences MANY modern ambers. 8/10 (because chanel f%cked up the longevity and silliage)

lmnsvgz

The spices in this remind me of L'agent by Agent Provocateur as well as Memoir by Amouage, but less strong and more refined.

christinebyh

This is the best and most timeless Chanel. Intense, fruity, spicy, floral, powdery, and so elegant. If you think about how Opium seems dated now but Coco does not, you can appreciate the beauty of this creation even more. Perfect office and going out scent. My go to scent to match a black cocktail dress. Absolute forever love.

Saveria

Pleasantly surprised by this perfume.

I thought it would be too old-fashioned but in fact it is beautiful, elegant and majestic. I find it especially amber, vanilla and spicy. I also smell a hint of rose. However, it is very marked "Chanel", so you will have to like the very recognizable style of the house to appreciate it.

Note that the civet is well dosed because I am generally very sensitive to it and here, it does not bother me.

Coco is much more interesting, sensual and attractive than her little sister "Mademoiselle" who I find quite ordinary. This one is more distinguished, more imposing.

So it's good to go beyond your preconceptions sometimes...

Beautiful staying power, beautiful sillage.

I'm currently selling a 35ml bottle of this on ebay with about 28ml approx left. Item no 404858751754

Coco Eau de Parfum has recently been reformulated! The color of the liquid changed from the amber tone depicted here to an almost rosé kind of color. The opening of the scent is now much more soft and floral, the spicy opulence has been subdued, tamed almost. A direct comparison to a previous bottle shows, the first 15 to 20 minutes are quite different from what Coco once was. After that, though, the new formula becomes indistinguishable from the older version, so they apparently only changed the top notes. So, if you love Coco, don't be too alarmed, it takes a few minutes, but then the old Coco is still there.

Very elegant sexy scent a spicy kissed roses, with peach and amber and mandarin colluding with mysterious clean balsams and a rich floral vanilla.
one of my favorites!

I'm a guy. I wear women's fragrance.

This took me multiple trips to the store. I couldn't smell anything but cigar. Sweet and burnt. It wasn't until maybe the 5th visit, I decided to spray it on my skin.

It is my cool-weather favorite now. I love the health out of this fragrance. It will be in my collection as long as they produce it.

It's spicy, warm. It just

perfumekiwifigorange

Luxury. That's what it smells like to me. Deep, with progression, lasting power and silage, it's a glamorous scent for a powerful, sexy, confident woman. Love the body lotion too. I think for the right person this is a daytime scent. Best applied at night, after a luxurious bath and then it will still cling a bit the next morning.

arefuthescroob

Elegant powdery vintage scent.

This perfume was my first love and “adult” fragrance - my signature until around 2000 (yes - I’m that old). I thought my chemistry changed but found an old bottle tucked away and voile! So where can i find an earlier formulation or perhaps a new fragrance that is similar? I haven’t found one and I’ve gone through many a high dollar fragrance now my very “adult” budget.

RottigrlNYC

Ok so I kept hearing about this perfume so I finally bought a used vintage half bottle, and wow I see why ppl love it. I thought vintage 1960’s #5 was incredible but this one is just as amazing. Ppl trust me if u want to buy Chanel #5 or Coco, you MUST go with the vintage, it’s much much better than the reformulated crap Chanel is selling now days. They don’t compare. Over the past 60 yrs or so, Chanel has reformulated these beauties to death. Yes you lose the top notes in
Vintage perfumes but that’s ok. Trust me it’s more than ok. WOW this is sooo good. Now I need to get me a vintage Mitsuoko. And more.
Wow I can’t stop smelling my arm. 😍😍😍😍😍😍

BoryanaB

Old school classic fragrance. Definitely see the resemblance to Mitsouko and Jean Louis Scherrer but it's way more wearable and well rounded. It also reminds me of Portrayal by Amouage. Prominent coriander, clove, rose and jasmin notes.

vowsandperfumes

Amber golden, rich, unique, luxurious and ever wonderful. One of my all time favorites and also my comfort perfume. This performs beautifully like a cozy hug on cold days, and I especially adore the powdery vanilla on the drydown which I can still smell by the end of the day and makes for a lovely bedtime scent when it's almost faded out. This always makes me feel like myself and what I get most from it is rich amber, sandalwood, rose and vanilla.

Arcticmanatee

This is the perfume that started my fragrance journey. I had decided I wanted a bottle of Chanel No 5 so I stopped by the counter. There was a bottle of Coco EDP out. I sprayed a paper strip and WOW! I didn’t know perfume could smell like this. I love this. My dad bought me a bottle of this and Chanel No 5. (I’m 50 LOL but Dad still likes to spoil his little girl) I love them both. This perfume is a masterpiece. Chanel leaves all my other perfumes in the dust. The dry down on this is magnificent. It’s a powdery amber spice cloud.
UPDATE: ok I’m not saying I can improve on Chanel but hear me out: layer with vanilla.

TheDeleeShow

My first signature scent. I wore this through high school and into my late twenties. It’s a solid choice for a spicy, rich, classic scent. I would still wear it from time to time, but not as often with the vast selection of perfumes I have acquired over the years.

evavidal62

I have the expensive pure parfum (dab on) bottle from the Chanel store. But I also have the one in this picture the EDP spray. This spray cost between 100 and 300 dollars at both the Chanel boutique and the Macy's perfume department but so worth it because it is such a masterpiece of perfumery and among the best the house of Chanel ever formulated. Jacques Polge concocted this beauty at the same time he was creating Diva for Ungaro. There seems to be more going on than what the Fragrantica note for note pyramid tells us. Coco opens with what to me feels like typical classic Chanel perfume top notes - aldehydes (in this case very soft and subdued, but as bathy and soapy as the aldehydes in Chanel 5 and 22). I also detect the citrus notes of orange, mandarin and orange blossom. The citruses are zesty, bright and refreshing. Above all, the orange blossom sings. The perfume is already off to a sweet start; a soapy quality, an orange and then a peach. The peach is not too strong but it's there and quite similar to the soft peach in Arpege (Lanvin). My nasal association with Arpege is also enhanced with the note of rose (twice) Bulgarian rose and rose absolute. The rose notes keep this fragrance leaning feminine. The roses are not the main accord but they are in the background keeping this in a powdery body. There are wisps of white florals such as jasmine but mostly gold, yellow, champagne & orange colored flowers come into play. I am smelling yellow mimosa which mixes well with the orange blossom. There also appears to be a note of ylang ylang. Gorgeous. The florals are lovely; soft, powdery, sweet and like specs of gold or a shower of gold. Cloves and spices are also within the heart to base period so after the sweet floral accords you are treated to spices, but not heavy spices. This is meant to be sprayed lightly and not to be overdone. If sprayed too much, this is an atom bomb with flowers and musk. The dry down comes around and it's basically a musk but there are other notes in there that are gorgeous to discover - amber, vanilla, labdanum or rockrose, resins, spices and sandalwood. Once the florals take a backseat, the scent becomes both powdery and spicy. This perfume is hard to put a label to. It is not a full-on Oriental but has some Oriental vibes particularly the amber-vanilla musk at the dry down and finish; it's a floral and has the feel of an aldehyde floral but it isn't. It's got a luxurious Baroque quality to it, like something a royal princess or queen would wear in the Renaissance era. Think Catherine de Medici. This powerful perfume lingers for hours and has a very comforting, cozy, and warm effect. It's great for fall and winter. It smells like being wrapped up in warm vanilla and musk. I think this smells great sprayed on a faux fur coat (like on the coat) or a scarf. I wear it to girlfriend night outs on the town. It's a bit too mature for a date but smells wonderful when women are around me. This has no age but it's florals and musk keep it in an over 30 age range. However if you are in your 20s and have experience wearing vintages, especially Diva by Ungaro, or perhaps to a degree (to my nose) original Salvador Dali perfume, then this fragrance will definitely suit you. It is for an independent and intellectual intelligent and classy woman. It's for fancy dinners and to go to museums with. I absolutely love it. I recommend both the pure parfum and the EDP spray.

Sea_9azelle

coco chanel edp, is a bit of a challenge for me tbh, at first i didn't really liked it, i was shocked to be honest knowing how strong the smell of the 80s was, but as i get older i realized that i havent really gave this fragrance enough tries, in my opinion this fragrance smells better on skin, works for hot indonesian and humid days, and ended up smelling like a soft cuddle of imperial leather soap, i think im going to buy this plus the advert is amazing

skm50

I tested this out at Nordstrom on my skin and was initially thrown off by the Ylang Ylang and clove. But as it dried down, the amber, vanilla, and sandalwood started to come through, and it was the most beautiful smell ever. Winter scent for sure. Makes you feel like you're wrapped in cashmere. Very elegant mature scent. I'm only 26 years old but I don't care. I wear this because it makes me feel so put together and sophisticated. And a little goes a long way. I only need to spray once on the neck and once on the wrists. This has strong sillage and longevity, so you will get noticed. Might not be appropriate for office settings due to this. But if you want to make a statement, this is it!

FutureKiwi

This is a very defined and bold fragrance for a proper lady, not a crowd pleaser at all. It's the exact opposite of 'girly'. It has the vibe of a woman of 1920's, spending time at the cassino, dressed in black dress, scarf with black feathers and a sassy headband. Oh, and long velvet gloves too! I once read a comment that Coco is a mother of Coco Mademoiselle - hell no, by no means! It's an entirely different experience. Coco is fairly abundant with cloves, sandalwood and amber. There is also civet which brings me memories of Guerlain's Jicky. I do get boozy notes, like whiskey. It's an evening fragrance with mature and classy aura but it takes a lot of courage - and proper chemistry - to pull it off rightly. It's not for me - I politely come back to Coco Noir, which is much easier to wear - but I'm glad I've finally experienced Coco. I totally understand why it is so famous.

Strong animalic tone peak though everything,
I like it personally.

Sweet amber with support of a lot for floral.
Not really powdery but sort of clean feel.
Opulent and rich, I think this really hit my territory
of those animalic powdery floral fragrance that so poppular.

Not bad per se. very good that chanel still carried this over.

Have I died and went to heaven?
Coco has me under its spell. 🌹
I don’t know why I was avoiding this offering from Chanel for so long; I guess I was intimidated.
I was expecting this to be way more vintage smelling, stuffy and austere but no, it’s timeless.
I’ve never smelled anything quite like it in my entire life. Pure class, elegance and luxury. I can only imagine this on a very confident woman that likes to leave a lasting impression.
On my skin Coco feels hazey, warm, sweet spicy and velvety. It’s like something a movie star would wear, feels very glamorous.
One spray is enough and they’ll smell you from across the room. This stuff is STRONG! And sooooo intoxicating. Signature scent worthy.
Be careful: it will attract only women/men not girls/boys. 😉

catswearingperfume

My relationship with Coco is a tale of enemies to lovers. I’ve sniffed this and disliked it many times throughout my life. As recently as 2020, it was still a dislike. There’s a powdery facet somewhere in this fragrance that made me stop in my tracks and put it down. But then something changed about the way I perceived this fragrance and now I can’t get enough of it. I want to replace all the water in my hot water tank with Coco and shower in it. I want to fill up an Olympic-sized pool with it and swim a 1500m freestyle event. Buy a sensory deprivation tank and spend hours floating in the dark, just Coco and me. I don’t know why it happened. Hormones? Dysosmia? Seasons? I have no real explanation, I just know that it did.

I like to retry my “dislike” fragrances every once in a while just to see if my feelings about them change, so on a recent trip to the perfume counter, I did just that with the Coco EDP tester. I dismissively sprayed it on the back of my hand and went about my business. A few minutes later I was standing at the register waiting to pay for a purchase, and I was suddenly swept away by the scent of orange, clove, and amber. I wasn't sure where the scent was coming from at first; I only knew that I had to have it.

I looked around to see if anyone was standing near enough to smell, or if something else was being sprayed. Then I reached my hand up to my nose and realized it was me. It was Coco EDP. Confused, I left the register to spray my other hand with it. I needed to confirm this was what I was smelling because it was so different than how I remembered it. The Coco in my memory was a powder-bomb — but THIS Coco was all opulence, warmth, and sumptuous spice.

So I bought a bottle, and I’ve been wearing it every day since. That powdery facet is still present, but it’s not the lead. It’s just a fluffy, musky, pillow for the sultry, spiced fruits and rose to rest on. On a paper strip I think Coco smells a bit vintage, but on skin, it doesn’t come across dated at all — just sophisticated, warm, and seductive. It makes me want to smoke clove cigarettes and paint my nails bright red. My clothes are already mostly black, but if they weren't, this perfume would make me want to wear all-black.

I’m not sure how this will play out in the summer. It’s cold here now, the perfect weather for this type of scent. It’s hard to imagine Coco in hot, humid weather. What will I do when summer comes? Is the EDT a viable option when it’s warm out, or will I have to wait until autumn comes back around to enjoy Coco again? I guess I’ll find out in a couple of months.

One of the bosses in my office complimented me when I wore this to work the other day, she kept on sniffing and told me the air just smelled better. We were in the meeting and she kept on sniffing the air and closed her eyes.

My gawd, I had never got such compliment when wearing other perfume.

Larosa Mystica

Smells like how Sade's voice sounds.

WGG

One of my wife's girlfriends wears this. Peach Amber Jasmine Vanilla all held together on that smooth and creamy Chanel base. Classy, opulent stuff and so much better than the super sweet or amber bombs currently doing the rounds.

Creamy_ambrette

This is one of the rare cases where I think the modern version may be better than the original - now vintage- formulas one can find.
I have a partial 35 Ml rectangular bottle from the 80’s and a 2012 bottle pictured above. The 2012 is a rich, spiced orange marmalade/rose amber with great longevity and siliage. The vintage is quite animalic and heavy handed with the civet. I’m not uninitiated to vintage fragrances and I love many but I found the vintage Coco to be too raunchy. The vintage starts off with the spiced orange christmas cake but then the civet takes over and it becomes too raunchy for me.
I would try and root out decants or samples of each to see with you like.
I’d be willing to swap or sell the 35 Ml I have of Coco EDP just message me. It’s about half full

Cocoadict

Started wearing Coco in 1984. Everyone else was wearing Poison or Opium, I hated the sickly sweet cloying smell of the big hitters. Coco was subtle when compared but it has continued to attract compliments despite tweaks through the years.
It is the only perfume I’ve worn that men go out of their way to compliment and continue to do so. My husband has always loved it and makes sure I always have a bottle. I have a secret stash of the original formula for my own indulgence.

rene.saller

I wore Coco EDP in my early 20s, not long after its release, and I loved it with a singular devotion, until I ran out of it and never replaced my bottle. I haven't smelled it in decades, but something came over me recently, and I felt a strong urge to start wearing it again--not as my signature scent but just every so often, when I want to remind myself of the person I was when I wore it to the exclusion of all other perfumes. I always loved fragrance, even as a toddler, but this was the first expensive grown-up perfume that I chose for myself (even if I sweet-talked some ex-boyfriend into buying it for me). Now I am a married lady of a certain age, and I can afford to buy a little bottle of Chanel for myself every so often. I just hope the reformulation lives up to my memories of the 1984 version. I'm trying to remember why I chose it in the first place, when I was in my early 20s, and I think it must have been that delectable Shalom Harlow 1920s-looking ad campaign, which ran in Vogue and Glamour every month back then. What can I say? I was and remain a simpleton. It's just fortunate that I picked an iconic fragrance, even if I did it for the worst and most shallow and basic of reasons. I look forward to finding out whether that clove-kissed rose is as radiant as I remember. If you can't go home again, and you can never enter the same river twice, at least you can sometimes catch a faint whiff of a beloved fragrance that conjures up a younger, quicker (but dumber), sharper-sensed version of yourself.

Update: Wearing it today, I'm getting faint glimpses (Proustian Lite) of the Coco I remember, but I can't tell if the reformulation is weaker or if my nose is simply different--it doesn't smell quite the same to me, but my frame of reference has changed a lot since then. I have smelled many other fragrances, including classic vintage scents that inspired Polge, including Diva, the fragrance he made the year before Coco, and now I'm smelling it in that context. It's a wonderful scent--a clove-kissed rose, with peach and amber and mandarin colluding with mysterious clean balsams and a rich floral vanilla--but it doesn't make me feel like I'm 22 years old again, the kind of person who needed this fragrance to feel like a real grown-up. Now I wear fragrance mostly for myself (although I prefer to wear ones that my husband doesn't actively dislike--saintly of me, no?), and I think I'll put this one on when I want to enjoy a gorgeous scent bubble. It's not a time machine, but that would be a lot to expect from 50 ml of EDP, even a Chanel.

Update: The drydown really is glorious. It occurred to me that I might actually have a much sharper sense of smell now, in my relative dotage, than I had when I was a pretty young thing because back then I smoked cigarettes, a habit I kicked for good more than 17 years ago. I suppose back then I must have smelled like Coco and Camel Lights--yick!

I'm going to add this to the regular fall rotation. Damn you, Chanel (and Guerlain): Why must you flaunt your superiority so flagrantly! What is it about your snobby French asses that render my other perfumes common and cheap by comparison? It can't just be the branding (or can it)? But wearing this is making me seriously consider confining my collection solely to the perfumes I love as much as this one, and that would mean getting rid of 80% of my collection. Too drastic, surely, but the alternative is knowing I could be wearing this (or Samsara or L'Heure Bleue or Nahéma) when I am wearing a "like" and not a "love." I suppose most people would save their best scents for the big occasions, but I mostly just wear scent at home, where I also work, so it's immaterial to me. I'm not really into this obsession for the compliments.

nomi00

My mom wears this whenever she goes out to dinner or a party. It smells so luxurious. It's such a classy and warm scent and very memorable too. Personally too mature for my nose but if you're trying to leave an impression at a socialite dinner party during the evening, then this is ur pick

mizzhoopz

Ok hear me out! I’ve tried modern and vintage versions of different perfumes except for coco. I just tried the modern version and purchased it and you know what this perfume reminds me of? Vintage opium from YSL. It has the spice that vintage opium had that the modern opium lacks which I find absolutely interesting. This perfume and vintage opium make me think of Joan Crawford BUT….if she would have been in her peak in the 70’s and 80’s. It gives business woman that is assertive and doesn’t take crap from anyone but has a sophisticated side to her that loved to smoke and have her drink on the rocks in her silk dress at the end of the day.

EveRose22

I've been collecting fragrances for decades, this is the only one I've ever bought a backup bottle. This is definitely not a safe blind buy and there will be those who find it unappealing, but if this fragrance works with your body chemistry it is almost magical. I am not a signature scent type of gal (there's just too many to love) but if I suddenly had to flee this would be the first one grabbed from my collection. Doesn't last quite as long as I'd like on skin, but will go for days on clothing. I consider price point very fair when compared to others in my collection.

hblakes70

I haven’t had a bottle since
College I. The early 90s.. I went to pick up a new one. I was worried it was going to be weak due to whatever reformulations it may have had! And wow, I was pleasantly surprised it smelled better! It wasn’t as pow in your face! It did smell like all the same notes were there just blended better an a bit sexier brighter! Still a winner or was the kind of scent I kept going back to my wrist and moaning ha if just smelled so yummy

WhiteFlowerPrincess

Coco Eau de Parfum just makes me think of the 1980's and big power suits, perms and the smell of ash trays in a gentleman's club. This stuff is STRONG! Not good at all in my opinion or particularly feminine.

I don't smell the fruity notes or any of the floral notes in the opening, but I do smell the strong and spicy smell of coriander that just WHACKS me in the face! It's quite overwhelming and not particularly subtle or pretty smelling. From the get-go I don't like this fragrance and it kind of reminds me of an Indian spice shop.

This impression of mine continues into the heart notes with me being overwhelmed by the very spicy smell of cloves that smells very heavy handed. This is at least softened somewhat by a powdery and succulent red rose and a honey-sweet clover, probably my favorite part of this fragrance. I really wish that I could smell the other floral notes in the heart though. It would have made this perfume softer, prettier and more feminine.

The very heavy and vintage smell unfortunately continues into the base, with the smoky smelling tonka bean, pungent and fecal smelling civet and the powerful and leathery labdanum being mostly responsible for this foul and mature smelling scent. The spicy and sweet balsamic oppoponax and resinous amber give this strong, sticky smell to the base too that I really don't like and the sandalwood is so strong and woody, that it makes me feel like I have been hit on the head with a wooden floor board. The only solace that I get from all of this is a nice, sweet and warm oriental vanilla in the dry down that is admittedly quite lovely.

I get fall and winter vibes from this fragrance and feel like it would be worn during the evening/night time. It would be much too much during the day. I'd say that this perfume leans masculine too and I don't think it would suit a woman to be honest, as contrarian as that may sound. It's just too woody and too spicy for that.

Sillage on me was quite big, since it projected 6 feet away from me. This fragrance lasted a long time on me too, (unfortunately for me) clocking in at around 10 and a half hours.

Despite its great sillage and longevity though, I can only really give Coco eau de parfum by Chanel a pretty bad 3.5/10. Just too mature, too smoky, too spicy, too woody and too masculine for this lady!

MsFCAS

Another Grande Dame, up there with Shalimar. This scent is so emblematic of 1980s spicy amber fragrances. She must be sampled to be believed. Deeply spicy and layered and interesting, the modern Coco Mademoiselle can't hold a candle to her.

alphairone

Coco EDP begins with what my nose perceives as rose and clove scented tobacco, an immense sillage, dark and seductive. I was daring enough to apply six sprays and I am enveloped in its plushness and envision the softest velvet, colored sepia, draping over me, like a smoking jacket. My fingers trace the leather bound books on an enormous shelf, I look out the window and see a topiary. I realize the glasses I am wearing tea shades, like John Lennon would wear. I hear a distant piano playing Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie.

Okay, sorry, I guess that's what folks in olden days called "getting lost in reverie." I suppose that's what Coco does for me, it's a "lost in reverie" sort of scent. Of course, it's a matter of perception, as I've pointed out countless times before. We can look at Coco as the premiere Chanel fragrance of 80s affluence and all the imagery that's tied to that, but that's been repeated over and again and I think we've read enough of that interpretation. What really strikes me is another review I read that mentions that it was the signature scent of someone's grandfather. Imagine that! Gender norms be damned, he smelled it, he loved it enough to wear it, and that was it.

Coco can be just as much a patriarch as it is a matriarch. It can feel like a pat on the head, a loving embrace, but in all its florals-baked-into-resins, gauzy, smoky cloak of amber glory, it can also become that precious gem you otherwise can't afford. In fact it could convince you that a physical gem, as dazzling as it may be, isn't nearly as satisfying as an olfactory one that makes an indelible imprint.

Cruella de Vil's signature scent! and one of my all time favourites 🩶

I only remember the 90s version, until recently. None of the women in my family fitted it, although they loved it, they did not have what it took and needed. However, my beloved late grandad wore it and it smelled phenomenal on him. After his recent passing I've accidentally found out that this was the perfume he wore, despite everyone saying it was the no5. Personally, I can't get enough of it. I even got the soap, my husband told me he loves it too. I'm 30 now, and my taste in perfume has changed, I dislike super sweet scents and long for something more sophisticated- this right there is perfect.

I've been to Vienna recently and I could smell this on so many people on the street. I guess it's very popular there because where I'm from you don't really smell this on people. I haven't smelled this is years but I immediately recognized it as it's very distinct.

I've owned a big bottle in my early 20s and gave it away to a friend because I found the clove note overwhelming and I was getting a lot of civet. Back then I felt like this smelled of cigarettes and a fur coat that's been put away in the closet for six months. Honestly, I was probably still too imature to do this jutrice and have not smelled enough perfumes to recognize the beauty of Coco.

I like feel like Coco in 2023 is sweeter then it was a few years ago and I think that was a change for the better. To my nose this smells like a perfect autum day - apple pie, mulled wine and dry leaves on the floor. The air is cold and crisp as you wrap yourself in your favorite knit sweater and stroll around the park in your ankle boots.

LadyT33

One of my all time favorites!! A classic. I wore this when I was 20. I still wear it over 30 years later. I guess I grew into it. lol VERY Warm. Reminds me of the warmth of a real fur coat, I don’t know why. I stopped wearing fur a long time ago. I love Coco’s spiciness. Beautifully blended and eternally classy. Vintage is the best. A true sparkling gem!

This is the mother of Coco Mademoiselle!

An affluent dressed 50y old woman, living in a big house with a groomed rose garden.

She is wearing lots of diamonds set in yellow gold (for no special ocassion). Her haircut is impacable and she also wears a lot of white and beige, and you'll never catch a wrinkle on them.

This is a long lasting BEAST! I could still smell it after a shower. It’s a very Chanel type of powdery scent and I can see why some may like it. Unfortunately, it’s hot where I live so it might be best for nighttime.

Missmuse16

This has been my signature scent since I fell in love with it in my twenties. However the price point isn’t affordable for me anymore but if anyone can recommend a holly grail dupe that would be amazing. I’ve tried Diva and while close doesn’t cut it. I think I might need to save up for my next bottle. It’s rich, sexy, spicy and I feel like a boss girl when I wear it.

N°5 is my signature, but I’d never smelled Coco before, so the next time I strolled past the counter, I asked to sample both Coco EDP and the latest Chance Eau Fraiche EDP. I fell in love with the latter and kept sniffing the tester strip while the former remained in my pocket after the first fleeting impression of tobacco. Yep, that’s what I got - only tobacco - even if there’s no tobacco listed among the notes.

Late in the evening, the tester strip called out to me from inside my skirt pocket - bold and daring - almost like it knew it wouldn’t be ignored. And just like that, my curiosity was piqued. Coco had my attention.

I got my bottle at a ridiculous price from a woman who didn’t want hers, and I am now getting better acquainted with Coco. The tobacco opening is still there, but, but if I wait for a while and stop burying my nose on the crook of my arm every second and instead let if waft to me, I am rewarded by this indescribable warm cocoon of a scent that is a perfect amalgamation of all its notes. And I know people talk about Guerlinade but I feel like Chanel does its own thing, that something that makes its fragrances insanely smooth so that the top blends into the middle into the drydown seamlessly. No jarring edges.

So what does it really smell like? I can’t tell you. I really don’t. That initial tobacco (again, to my nose) never really leaves. It simply mellows down, and then the other notes join the dance, twirling swirling in sync - clove, sandalwood, vanilla, amber the most prominent ones to me - to create a warm halo around me that takes me away to a different era. I’d heard of Coco being called a “baroque” smell, and I finally know what it means. This is opulent, regal, almost decadent, and while I am taking my time with it I know this is not a fleeting infatuation. After all, isn’t slow burn the best kind of love?

lunar_eclipse

This is very similar to Estée Lauder’s Cinnabar, except EL’s lacks the animalic drydown and peach. I used to like this but the carnation and civet played too loud of a role on my skin.

Spicyicy

I have been wearing Coco since I was 23, it is timeless and doesn't represent an age, it exudes confidence, agency, and soft power. Unapologetic, two sprays last all day, and it envelops into a plush, warm, spicy vanilla. So feminine, sensual, intelligent, it is a perfume that represents success to me. I wear it whenever I am operating to impress, both in my career and when I want to boost my confidence. Gentle soft luxury.

Heathermarie8617

I blind bought a 1.2oz bottle of this based off of the notes alone and...I LOVE IT. Not sure how the household will feel, but this is GORGEOUS. I think this will absolutely shine in the colder Autumn/Winter months! I don't personally find this outdated, but at the same time there is definitely that "80's touch" that lingers...something like a sweet face powder. This brings so many images to mind;a gothic castle, a Victorian funeral, a baroque party, the 80s boss lady...etc etc. I hope this style of fragrance makes a come back. While I love many current fragrances, there really is something so special about fragrances pre-1990. Again, I'm not knocking modern scents...but aside from a few, there haven't been many that have made me FEEL the way that vintage (even if reformulated) make me feel.

I highly recomend that you TEST before you buy.

Update: This smells like fresh warm laundry to me! Specifically fuzzy blankets! This one is going to be reallllly nice in the winter months.

gretta

This is in my top 5 for life list. I exclusively wear this in November & December. I am currently missing the cold weather and brought this out today to feel cozy. Pure Haribo coca cola gummies on the opening (which is a delicious thing to me), then gets even more delicious and cozy after that. This is gorgeous and my skin drinks it up. Lasts and lasts on me.

Tuttoo

My word! The first whiff was a blast of Sarin gas ( like juicy-fruit - not a pleasant association!) I had to fight the urge to either give my arm a good scrub or run for my gas mask. I decided to tempt fate and wait for the perfume to develop. It was worth the wait, although I did not get the wowzer effect descibed by other reveiwers.
Again, perfume is a very personal thing. What smells like a deadly nerve-gas on one person might smell divine on some other lucky person.
In my opinion, the main factor which determines whether this perfume is age-appropriate for a young girl/woman or not is the price. Chanel prices their perfumes in the "pricey but not mind-bogglingly so" .

Lotte_Liese

I was not impressed by the opening, but I allowed the fragrance to develop and my goodness, two words can tell a large part of the story- cloves and roses. Zesty, spicy, sexy... What more can I write that has not already been written? This is an easy love.
Other notes like orange blossom, amber and labdanum are present but they are there to set off the main show of cloves and roses dancing together. The EDT is easier to wear than the EDP but I prefer the full bodied, heady scent that the EDP offers.
Although I simply adore this perfume, I am not ready to purchase a full bottle. It's quite a mature fragrance and I'll give myself a few more years before I introduce it into my collection.

fragrancechamp

I have a good few iterations of Coco by Chanel. Starting with both a modern iteration of the EDT and EDP, a vintage EDP with a stopper lid, and currently a 7.5ml Pure Parfum spray on its way to me.

Each version is undeniably Coco. I mean, you know who she is and what she stands for.

The vintage EDP I find to be the sweetest on my skin. The abundance of resins in the base creates an almost gooey effect. It’s so thick and forms an intoxicating cloud around me. The coriander and civet are definitely present as up close it gives just the faintest vibe of sweaty skin, but it’s exactly that 80s edge that I love.

Saying that, however, I find the EDT to be the version I reach for the most. It jumps off the skin more and is fresher and lighter. Especially the 2021 bottle that I have. It’s easier to wear, and I can wear it to almost any occasion. It’s good all year around. Like I said, it’s undeniably Coco, but it’s the Coco to reach for when I want Coco but I don’t want to have to think.

I’m looking forward to the arrival of my 7.5ml Pure Parfum travel spray. I’ll have to come back and write and update.

HYLAS

A classic example of “does what is says on the tin”, I could identify most of Coco’s key notes right away. Opening with a scintillating burst of citrus, spice, rose and peach, this fragrance changes very little during the dry down. Rose and orange blossom remain evident throughout, with a peppery amber base slowly emerging. In all, Coco is an elegant scent, and it's easy to see why it is so well-loved.

Although I’m not the craziest about citrus, Coco balances its zestier elements well with the rose and, while the spice is a tad reminiscent of certain other bygones, it isn’t overly musty. But, given I have no associated nostalgia with this perfume, I have to admit I’m leaning closer to a 50/50 with impressions. The opening is truly beautiful but the dry down is, sadly, a little too cloying for my tastes, as I do find the clove becomes quite prominent (the same issue I had with Paloma Picasso’s Tentations). Not one to overspray, that's for sure!

HannahRosesAreRed

One of the quintessential fragrances of the 80s, preferred for the sophisticated set that wanted to make an impression without going down the Dior Poison route. This is a ladies' fragrance, plain and simple. This is a scent for confident adults–it evokes red nails, burgundy lipstick, fur or leather coats, pencil skirts, shoulder padded blazers, back-seamed stockings and high heels.

It's a bold blend of warm amber and cozy spices. Think wintertime or holiday spice candles, with a hint of cosmetic wax and animalic funk. The clove and vanilla come out the strongest, just backed up by rose and tonka bean. The coriander note adds this odd, funky hint of herby green-ness. I was worried when I saw the notes, since civet can smell pungent and garbage-y even at the best of times, and coriander (cilantro seeds) sometimes has that ammonia stentch. However, they're surprisingly understated here, and add to the skin-scent quality of the drydown. I think the creamy, earthy sandalwood helps, too.

It's a bit too serious for my taste, and the animalic notes aren’t the best matches for my skin chemistry. But this is a respectable fragrance that captures the best aspects of a certain mindset of a bygone era–but can still work today. Best for evenings or cooler weather.

LSAUG

I decided to revisit this again because even though I left a review here and I thought I was smelling this perfume right but I think I really missed the mark. Either I had something going on or something was wrong w/ my nose at the time. Covid was going around, and I think a lot of people including myself may have had it but didn't have symptoms. My nose might have been off during the time I first sampled this. I got my sample out again since I kept it "just in case" and it is like it is a whole other perfume. Warm, deep, rich, and spicy floral perfume that is a class act. This isn't like my beloved vintage Opium, but it is a good substitute. I don't think I would wear this very often since it feels like a special occasion perfume, but I think I want to add a small bottle to my collection. Maybe the humidity and the heat we are having now brought out the elements for me today, but I seriously think I had Covid and didn't know it. This is very spicy and when I first smelled it all I smelled was a peachy floral and not the spices. The spices are what make this special. They just don't make spicy florals like this or Vintage Opium anymore. Going on my Christmas List.

Edit: 9/19/23 The more I smell my sample of this the more it reminds me of Lubin's Black Jade. Not a dupe but in the same class. If you owned one, you would not need the other. Coco is less expensive. I may buy this at some point.

Lalita Marina

My absolute favorite, my eternal beloved, the perfume I return to always. It is a class of its own, classy and sensual, baroque and elegant, spicy and unforgetable, the paradox of femininity Coco Chanel stands for. There is no perfume that is similar with this, I adore the combination of spices-the misterious story teller Sheherezada but wearing the classic black dress and some baroque jewellry. I cannot describe it in words, it must be experienced on your skin. Beautiful and very special.

spritzking

As a young person I sense strong personalities that reside within Coco,

There is a rockstar with wild long hair, black eyeliner, a leopard fur coat and women on his arm.
There is Louis XV and Jeanne du Barry, at the same time.
There is the soul piercing stare of Coco Chanel herself.
It is the confluence between Rockstar, King, Courtesan and Artist.
It is so refined and complex that it doesn’t take hierarchy into account, only if you have “it”.

Revontuli

I might try thousands of fragrances, designer and niche, but I know I will always come back to this. I haven't smelt anything this feminine and sensual. A timeless classic.

One of the most beautiful spicy rose interpretations. None of the notes overbears each other, all in harmony. The velvety, smooth rose is so present.

The longevity is also superb on my skin, a straight 12 hours and still prominent.

I will always and forever have a bottle of this in my collection.

wallywinthrop

My mother loved this while I was growing up and I never associated it with anything but glamour. This is such a beautiful ambery spicy floral blend with warm tonka. It literally sparkles. I feel instantly like the most beautiful woman in the world when I put this on.

Laurus

Wow. I love love this. It starts similarly like Poison. Poison starts out with beautiful sweet fruits but just as fast as I had said aah so beautiful that turned to ugly way too sharp poisonous stench which made my husband curse. Coco doest turn bad. It keeps giving that beautiful sweet scent all throughout the day. And the spices. So sweet and gorgeous. I work in a kitchen and as I entered the freezer or walk in cooling I smelled the spiced more intense. It just keeps on giving wow. My favourite Chanel. And it has been available all my youth but I disrecarded it because it wasnt marketed for young crowd while I was just hating Chance and Coco mademoiselle.

Ayu natha

Its feminine classy perfume. I wear it for any special occasion.

Smeraldina77

Although very reminiscent of the 1980s, this fragrance is definitely a timeless icon as N.5, Opium, Shalimar, etc. In the Coco line, this and Coco Noir are my favourites, I find them to have more character than Mademoiselle. Coco is a very intense, spicy, ambery perfume, strong, bold, feminine. I find it quite versatile and wearable both day and night, I would not wear it in very hot, humid weather though. I believe 2 sprays can be enough for daytime, since it is very potent. It lasts all day long and has a resonable sillage. Someone says it is more suitable for a mature woman, but honestly I believe it depends more on one's personality... definitely it is not a delicate, girly perfume, but, as I said, it depends more on your personality than on your actual age.

A_Ferrera

Undeniably elegant, this is an aspect that is continuously present throughout the entire wearing.

This to me smells like the splendour of the Artdeco age, bespoke to each wearer yet still distinctly recognisable.

stella197

Spicy, rose, peachy, powdery. I love to spray my coats with this in the winter. The dry down on clothes is my favorite. Cloves and roses. Makes me think of red lipstick and long red fingernails. A woman who wears mostly black clothes with a red manicure. I adore this perfume.

gressssie

It's a nice sophisticated smell but very mature. It reminds me of a better version of Narciso Rodriguez EDT. This is just my opinion but this fragrance is great for (45+).

Subhuman

For all that Chanel parade their vaunted company history at the drop of a pillbox hat, they seem to handle their perfumes from a more brisk, business-first perspective – keep things fresh, keep them modern, and keep them moving. They routinely fuss over the formulae of their classics, and not only for regulatory reasons, it seems to me. Chanel can do what Chanel wants, of course, but I am led to wonder just how much of the original fragrance resides in any given bottle on their counters. The Coco eau de parfum I first smelled over a decade ago was itself already a trimming and tweaking of the 1984 original, probably just the latest in a long line of such adjustments. I could surmise at the time that Coco likely smelled at least somewhat different in its original form, and the modern-day version bears out the same conclusion for me. I’ll take what I have, but I wonder…

All that said, Coco EdP - circa 2023 - is beautiful. Unlike some of its oriental forebears, with their lead-dense resins and balsams stomping the ground in gravitas, Coco is a rather buoyant affair. (I wonder...) It opens with orange blossom, plum, bright rose and frangipani, bolstered by woody aldehydes and a dusting of talc. The frangipani is the attention-seeker here, lush and sweet, and colorful drapery for Coco's oriental framework. (Is there such thing as a "tropical oriental"?) Jasmine, cinnamon, a brief fumbling of cloves before IFRA slaps Polge's hand away, and a coquettish opopanax join the party, followed by a very creamy amber. Soft patchouli, sandalwood, and well-heeled musk round out the finish.

In typical Chanel style, there’s a lot of a lot, blended to blurry perfection, but its ‘80s provenance makes Coco a little more legible - and loud - than some of Chanel's earlier classics. Still, I think it’s sufficiently fresh for the Sephora crowd. No rumbling retro musks or evil toxic mosses; an overall feel of shimmering powder. Of course it's elegant and polished to a gleam, but in a less buttoned-up, coiffed-hair way than you might expect from an old floriental; you can dress it up or down instead of reserving it for nights at the opera or whatever it is people who wear the Chanel that's not from a bottle do. Coco isn't a groundbreaking blend, but it’s guileless, pretty, and warm, and sometimes that's all you need.

____

TL;DR: I don't know what Coco EdP smelled like in the '80s. I know that now it smells like a chic woody floriental, exotic to no one but lovely nonetheless, and classically styled without feeling like a museum piece. An eminently wearable luxury. (Black dress and Rum Raisin nail polish optional.)

Smokeandhoney

There’s not much else to say other than “timeless classic”. Cliché but nothing more true. My first Chanel and most beloved because it was also my beautiful Mother who gifted me my first bottle of COCO. My Mom also used to wear this so I have a sentimental attachment and prominent scent memory association. COCO is an exquisite beauty that I find stands the test of time in her every concentration and formulation. In my opinion, the most incredible of all CHANEL’s “mainstream” line. Stunning, classic Chanel florals embalmed in resinous, spicy, woody, musky preciousness with a cute dose of civet to give her a bit of a purrrrr, nothing cat-pee about the civet in this composition, it's sensual. (albeit synthetic but still delicious). The resins present with more of a powdery feel I would say, rather than sticky or syrupy. Everything is in perfect balance and blend. The current formulation of COCO I would recommend a couple sprays upon opening and I’d say keep the bottle boxed in a cool, dark environment and she will deepen and bloom and macerate beautifully. The spices, the florals, the amber are all so much more prominent and the juice feels almost a little creamier and richer. The pure parfum is heavier on the florals as Chanel use the flowers grown in their fields in Grasse and the most prized and precious ingredients are reserved for the extraits so you get the floral notes more strongly before the spices start warm on the skin. The EDP spicier in the top compared. COCO will always be in my collection and I will always be a COCO girl. She has become one of my signatures. My ride or die. Breathtaking. I just adore her. I thank you infinitely, Jacques Polge. BRB going to hug my bottle.

Chevelle Loves Scents

I recently stumbled upon this fragrance and have been obsessed ever since. I went to Macy's and sprayed Chanel Chance eau Fraiche and Coco eau de Parfum on each arm. I like to walk around with a fragrance to make sure I really love it. I definitely grew to love a warm ambery fragrance. The problem was, I thought it was Chanel Chance eau Fraiche (very silly mistake).

So I went to the mall again on a different day and smelled the two again and found that I really liked Coco eau de Parfum. I recently purchased a bottle and absolutely love it. I love Kilian's Angels' Share so this will definitely go into my rotation for date night or girls night out.

Vanillamuscdream

A very mature, classy perfume. It’s not the typical type of fragrance I go for, but it is so distinct and impactful and lasts for hours. It smells like incense to me, which is one of the qualities I quite like about it.

kangbi

tried a sample of this and it smelt like public bathroom soap to me, probably smells nicer on others though

Sweet Satine

I will always have Chanel in my perfume collection. I love Marilyn Monroe, and when I spray the old formula, it is a pretty scent. The new formula is also a pretty scent. Chanel equals Norma Jean to me.

alternateu

Sprayed it on a blotter at a Chanel booth and loved it - sexy, slightly spiced, florals.
On my skin, unfortunately, not as sexy.
It opens with a slightly fruity, soapy (smells a bit like shampoo), and then the spices (the cloves especially) really dominate on my skin. They turn the perfume a bit too "sharp" for my personal liking, and dominate the rest of the notes - I can't get much else from this point on.
Also, honestly not sure why, the longevity and projection are not particularly impressive on my skin.

Windermere

Smells like a juicy, spiced peach cobbler. I don't think this is one that I can personally pull off, but man it is nice

Bellini84

I first bought this fragrance in 1985 age 17. Yes it has changed and I would love it to still be the same but it is one of the few fragrances that is still almost as good.I have tried many others to chase that original wow factor including far more expensive variations but for me Coco is still number one!My clothes smell of it I always get compliments from complete strangers and any time I try something different my husband and daughter instantly say I don't smell like ME.
Pointless going into the various travels through different notes as everyone will have a different journey but this is still my favourite of all time.If you love rosy spice but don't want to smell like a man this is definitely a yes!

betterlina

A sister of No5. The cloves- civet-coriander- mimosa combo is chasing your spirit to overtake the whisper of the most rosy youthful moments, saying with an underground voice: "Stop dreaming!". Just as Life is...

Atomikbomb_

Coco is just really, really pretty to me in a very classic way. Yes, this is warmly amber and roses, but it isn't a green rose. It's dry and nearly smells a little...fusty? Yet not at all like bad potpourri, it's difficult to explain precisely what it is about it that's so unique, but it's recognizable.

This gets criticized sometimes by people who aren't decidedly *into* fragrance (friends or family you would take to the mall) as being a "grandma" perfume, and that makes me a little sad honestly.  It's not vanillic, fruity or modern, it lacks white musk and it isn't *clean*, but I've never found it difficult to deal with or wrap my head around. I've smelled it many times and I've taken mental notes.

It's not overly animalic, I personally find Obsession to be stronger on the civet by a good deal (and I still love Obsession).

I don't get most of the notes here and never have, it's a spiced amber and rose to be with a dash of skank...that's it. It's not overly complex at all, but I will say that the spice has never seemed like an overdose of cloves either. It's just vaguely spicy (or my nose isn't that honed).

One time I went without wearing perfume on the way to dinner with my husband, but opted to spray this at the mall beforehand (restaurant was attached to the mall). He didn't care for it, and I also got a confused look by a man passing by me in the parking lot. 😐 This was 4 or 5 years ago and I'm less self conscious now, but it bummed me out at the time because I felt good in this. Maybe this seems masculine? It's certainly unisex IMO, but since it reads as *pretty* I think it could go either way. If it's "outdated" or "oldschool"...fine. I like old stuff! 😇

It's a 7/10 performer both in sillage and longevity.

so_what

I love Chanel fragrances, but this one is most certainly not my cup of tea. It's very heavy and feels even "heavier" and "older" than #5. I'd rather prefer #5 to it, I actually like it a lot more. Just can't imagine someone younger than 60 smelling like this fragrance.

bel.gravia

Oh this is stunning. A deep rich velvet rose with amber incense and cloves. Plush, blooming, spices and rich. Coco is a strong character perfume great as a signature.
If you like Portrait of a Lady, CK Obsession, heck even EL Youth Dew and Cinnabar, Coco is up your alley.

HoneyPamela

The Coco of today is not the Coco of the 80s. I still like it, but not in love with it. I sense that it is missing something--not sure what.

michaeld2986

This old school style Chanel could easily pass as a male fragrance in 2023. I've read several women comment that it smelled somewhat masculine to them. In my opinion, wear what you like because it's all marketing. This is a gorgeous fragrance! Happy to own a bottle!

RottigrlNYC

I blind bought this one. It’s not for me. I have a half bottle of the Coco edp refill bottle. If anybody wants it.

Icarel

A perfume with an incredible performance, beast mode, I would say. One of the only Chanel perfumes with actual performance IMO. A very spicy and recognizable scent with a hint of rose, which is very practical if you want to be remembered. I would avoid it if I wanted to be discreet and in hot weather.

katemax

This is heaven. I had a bottle in 1997 when I was 15 and I still love it

Elegant Spice

One of those classy scents you can wear when it's colder weather. Love!

LoveBitch246

Testing this now, it’s nice, but I think I need more time with it… The opening is very rose heavy, airy and beautiful, middle is straight cloves and what another reviewer referred to as, “vintage makeup” for me, 5 hours in, subtle, spicy leather. Super interesting, but this screams 80’s fragrance to me. Reminds me of women from my childhood. Not that, that is a bad thing.

Update: my husband smelled my wrist and said it smelled like a candle. Yup, agree that the end result smells like a holiday candle 😐

Never2Late

It's my understanding that Coca was Chanel's answer to the room-rockers that were released with huge hype in the 80's: like Opium. For those of us around at the time, the marketing for Poison and Opium was over the top. But so were lots of things then: padded shoulders and platform heels. I wore Poison and Opium, platform heels and padded shoulders. Oh dear.... it was indeed an over the top decade. But I never tried Coco.
I recently tried it because I wanted a spicy scent for Christmas, and didn't really think about the fragrances history. Now that I've worn it for a few weeks, I don't think it's a BIG scent like Poison/Opium. I think Chanel stopped short of doing that and instead gave us Chanel's take on a warm and spicy. I love it - has all the pedigree of Chanel and rose and clove - just what I want to wear in the cold winter months.

My#1delight

I have many perfumes and a few favorites, but Coco to me is the BEST PERFUME EVER!

moma4faith

To those saying it reminds of an "old lady scent", take my advice. Find some older women, have a lunch, and listen to their stories. It will knock your socks off. Just like Coco will knock your socks off, but in a good, ladylike way. If you allow Coco to tell her story, and you listen closely, you'll get it. It is a lovely perfume. That first frizzle of spice is a pleasant surprise, due to the strength of it, but never overpowering. On me, that spice warms down and has a staying power, while the other notes enter. Is that a hint of powder, or maybe pepper? It can be both or either, on my skin and especially on my clothes. Amazingly, I go nose blind on this scent quickly, but others continue to comment and ask what I'm wearing. This one gets compliments, but they are often whispered, with a conspiratorial "tell me what that is", as if Coco EDP is a secret only a few should know about. Definitely a keeper. I no longer believe in "signature" scents, because the market is all about constant change, reformulation, and pushing new buys. But, this could be a signature scent, at least until a newer reformulation ruins it.

Pure Morning

To be completely honest it is an old lady type of smell, but OMG it is amazing. Strong, sticky almost, sexy, heavy. Long lasting. Definitely a statement scent. The dry down is beautiful.
TIP spray this generously before you shower, take a shower with a gentle soap and then BOOM - SEX! Haha this results in the most sensual body scent ever. Elegant and erotic. Try it! 😍

KarolaFragrance

Let me start with: I love this scent!!! Elegant, sexy, timeless. A real statement.

I am very surprised though with the amount of 'rose' votes, this is NOT a note that comes to mind when I smell it. The best way I can describe it is... vintage makeup. The thick oily lipsticks my mom used to wear in the early 90., the powders, even the crunchy hairspray.

Glamorous ❤️❤️❤️

jordysmom

I agree with psyogi.this isnt the rich clove bomb it was in the 80s.its still there but much lighter.I still love it,though

Glassfury

I think I'm not quite mature enough to pull this off yet, but I can't wait for the day I spray this all over my vintage coat and silk scarf, strut across the piazza to go watch an Italian opera, exuding my rose and clove without giving two shits about the rest of the world.

Mystères du Château de Dé

Brass tacks - the vintage is wonderful, the new bottle is pleasant.

Too savory, almost. It’s got that muddy, spicy funk that amber frags love to tote around as if it smells grand and luxurious. It’s just… low quality incense, bong resin, and sweetened florals. Subtly pissy, too. Coco smells way better on paper than it does on your dry, cracked, winter skin, for sure.

Sweet Satine

I swear, my husband bought me Coco and I put it away, somehow I hid it by accident. Going through my cupboards and this is a floral gem. I feel like I am in a beautiful garden with a floral breeze. Sweet, bold floral.

My wife wears this. I'll describe it with one word "magic"

It pains me to write a negative review about my long-time signature fragrance. I've been wearing Coco since it came out in the 1980's. My last bottles were purchased in 2011 (I keep my fragrances in the refrigerator) and I ran out recently. Popped into Ulta last night and squirted the EDP onto my neck and sweater...what a disappointment. It smelled watered down. In fact, it didn't even smell like the original Coco until about an hour later, and then it disappeared within two hours into something unrecognizable. I smelled my sweater this morning, and the fragrance is barely there and smells NOTHING like the original.

I found a company that makes an oil dupe of the original CoCo and they will now get my business instead of Chanel.

Coco has been my signature for years, it’s like catnip for my husband. Fast forward a couple of years and venturing into niche fragrances, I decided on a night out, I would wear atomic rose but the lady in our company was wearing coco.
I could smell her in the bar, in the toilets, in fact everywhere, before I twigged what it was. This fragrance just oozes sophistication and sexiness. It’s so easy to lose your way when it comes to purchasing fragrances due to hype but it’s made me realise nothing will ever be as special to me as this beauty.

Ps I’ve recently purchased a vintage dab bottle and a new bottle. No need to worry about reforms here. It’s still glorious

nicholette

I used to wear this in highschool in the 80s. My beautiful mommie wore Chanel No5 and I wore Coco at age 18.

rainangel

like most chanel perfumes it really shocked me when i first smelled it, very strong!!! and has a very rich vintage vibe to it, it smells like the coolest grandma you've ever met with big rounded square sunglasses, a pearl necklace and a leopard fur coat. i hope they still sell this if i reach that age, it's definitely too mature for me right now :') i wouldn't advise blind buying this or gifting it to a younger woman, unless she's into vintage fashion. i have only tested it in-store but it lasted on my clothes for days!! i don't really like anything else chanel offers but for some reason coco is growing on me!

SunShea

Just bought a brand new batch from September 2022 and it is mesmerising! I love how the classy amber tames the rose and surprisingly I am catching the clover which is so soothing and calming. The fragrance develops every day like it adjusts to my moods. I really love it !

MakeupNeverSleeps

I was waiting in the eye doctor's office to make sure my retinas were still attached after a head injury, and this lady sat down in front of me. The cloud of what almost smelled like a men's fougere overwhelmed me at first, but then I started liking it. I ended up asking her what she was wearing, and she said it was Estee Lauder Youth Dew. I found a tester at the mall and was overwhelmed by the degree of animalic funk in the opening. I feel like I can get a similar effect to that in a more refined and cleaner delivery with Coco EDP.

nique_nax

smells like an older independent sexy woman.

One of my mother's holy trio of perfumes and when I was younger I absolutely hated it. Now that she lended me a bottle to borrow, I have to say this scent is stunning. It opens up with a gorgeous deep ambery-rose scent that lingers throughout the experience and after a while, the orange blossom and civet makes its appearance giving it a powdery animalic scent that is hard to come by in fragrances. I am definitely not a fan of rose (like in roses musk I hate it, it is tolerable in delina but I have to be in a certain mood to wear it) but I love how the rose blends in so smoothly and elegantly. I imagine a 25-30 year old rich woman out in the city for a girls night out. A woman free from children and heavy responsibilities. A woman who's usually proper and prim in the workplace but is stepping out of her comfort zone by going out in a michael kors sequin dress and a pair of miu miu pumps.

RG14

I have a small bottle on the way and am so excited. Coco is the most beautiful, elegant, rich, warm, comforting Amber. I am an Amber lover and have been searching for a new Amber to add to my collection.

midget11

I'm not a fan of most Chanel fragrances, they love their typical basic forgettable chypres, that annoying sharp citrus, nothing special at all and its so 2000s, dated af. mademoiselle is such a generic women's designer scent, CHANCE is my idea of a citrus carsick nightmare. Coco is the quiet unpopular sibling no one pays attention to but is secretly the main character of the movie. the warmness and richness with the underlying smooth powdery consistency is undefeated and so well balanced and sophisticated. It actually has CHARACTER and a personality compared to the others. I don't reach for her often and need to be in a certain mood to but she is a potent gem. I will never ever prefer mademoiselle to this one, this is one of the best chanel fragrances ever along with coco noir.

miewtje

I was wondering how this one held up since it's reformulations. According to several rants I encounter all the time I should love the vintage more. I already loooove the current one so did my best search work, found and recently purchased an unopened well kept vintage bottle from the 80's totally legit and still 100 % as new. Opened it fully anticipated to be blown away and... It smells exactly the same. There are a few slight differences, maybe that the vintage one dries down quicker. But realy c'mon the current version is absolutely fine and nearly identical. I had expected to be blown away by the differences but not even a little bit 🤭. The vintage splash bottle is realy cute though. All in all I thought I'd share with those who are as curious as I am, that coco is as beautiful as it ever was. Don't let reviews on its comparison make you feel like you desperately need to spend your money. They are equally booootifill <3

Sammbac

My first adult perfume back in 89/90. I thought it was the height of supermodel sophistication but I was probably a bit too young to carry this fragrance off. Nostalgically buying a bottle last year, I am now aware that it is even more timeless than the 90s minamalistic chic it represented for me ie from it's much earlier inception to the present day. This is a perfume that can transport you to a different era yet retain whatever modern element or vibe you wish to project. It is very powerful but it works with you, not worn by you or a scent that wears you. It's hard to explain. I haven't mentioned it's notes or longevity or the right season to wear it. For me it's a perfume that just transcends perfume reviews . A standalone. One of a kind.

MCW7

This is the only Chanel perfume at this point that lasts longer than eight hours. They have compromised their quality of longativity.. reformulated, rebooted, reconstructed. whatever you want to call it. They’ve completely destroyed Chanel No 5 as far as I’m concerned. . I still love my Chanel perfumes, but they just don’t last like they used to. This, however, has the most beautiful rose projection along with amber and so many other notes . It is truly a masterpiece. A bit old school, but I absolutely love it. I believe this has been reformulated once, but still packs a punch . It is a beast as far as performance. So beautiful. Buying a back up bottle before they decide to ruin this one.

Alexxxxx

I have resisted writing a review for so long that I feel disloyal, but it’s because I so fear doing her an injustice! I’ve been buying Coco EDP for almost 30 years, and (formula atrocities notwithstanding), I will never be without a bottle. It lasts so long on my skin, and I love every moment wearing it, but especially the morning after. Sultry and very grown-up. A lioness in a bottle.

t0ocozy

Definitely a mature scent. I feel very girl boss when I wear this.

Kiwigoddess

I found this to be a really beautiful daytime fragrance but not a love. Compared to Mademoiselle, this is a lot lighter which is why for me it is something I would wear in the daytime to work. The drydown was really nice and nicer than the opening in my opinion. Decent projection and sillage, and great longevity - could still smell it as a skin scent the next morning.

L'égyptienne

It’s my birthday gift which turns to be my signature scent in fall/winter.
Was a love from the first sniff when my nose has detected the combination of sandalwood, amber and vanilla after it appears behind the orange blossoms.
Longevity lasts forever in addition to the sillage of a classy confidence woman.

Holli

Grabbed a vintage EDP with a bit left for a lucky price to try because I love LOVE the edt. Weirdly, I don't feel the magic in the edp. It's like they took all the softness out and just left the spice. I'm sure some people prefer this one and get their magic out of it for the same reason I don't. I didn't even consider not liking it. I only worried that they'd be too similar to own both. If you're deciding which to try first, go EDT if you like the warm velvety affect in scents and like that 80s fruity spice warm snug on a cold night. Go EDP if prefer spice forward. I still get the fruitiness, but it is almost like it's next to the spices instead of all mixed together.

ronin.jose

Soapy coca cola. It must be the mixture of some of the spices and the florals creating this effect. It's cool, clean, and fizzy, yet it's classy and authoritative.

Dazed_and_confused

Someone said to me, that Chanel perfumes just give off that grandma vibe. I don’t know, but if they do, then hey - grandma and I have something in common because I love this one with a passion. But be careful - it’s strong.

Gyps

A stunning fragrance. Classy and beautiful. You don’t need to spray much.

ShaunMichael

Beautiful and so underrated. Deep and spicy. A gorgeous winter fragrance

RJ Watson

I kept getting whiffs of something beautiful at work this morning. For hours, I couldn’t pinpoint exactly who - or what - it was. Just that it was gently spicy, ambery and altogether delicious smelling; it seemed to be held together by a lovely vanilla, and while it teetered on the edge of being edible, it never quite crossed the line.

Then, **HE** walked by me, in a gentle, perfumed cloud. He smelled like an enchanted forest. Straight as a pin, happily married with children. I cornered him in the hallway and said, “Ok, what is THAT? Your perfume. It’s beautiful. And now I know it’s you.”

“Oh, Chanel.”, with a sly smile.

“Which one?”, just knowing he was going to name one of the exclusifs.

“Coco.”, he answered.

The man’s got style.

I went to get a bottle of the eau de parfum immediately after work.

It was an instant love for me and I’ll likely wear nothing else until spring arrives. Signature scent worthy, for certain.

I’m no Chanel fanboy - but when they get it right, they get it right.

YenSung

What a pleasant surprise. Throughout my quite long adult life i always thought i wasnt a chanel kind of girl but when I smelled it for the first time I immediately got a vintage vibe that I adore, kind of reminded me of the original opium. No they don't smell similar it's the deepness, intensity, darkness and spiciness that they have in common and yes this is quite popular but also smells very unique. Definitely powerful and long lasting, this morning when I woke up it was still going strong on my skin. What a beautiful and sexy perfume, I've been missing out for years

Hypercolor

Um Amazing. Smelled today for perhaps the first time. I thought I liked Coco Noir…this is complex and divine. Dare I say glittering? I can’t even remember what it smelled like now but it was very good and I love it. I will be purchasing and wearing profusely.

lady_ireth264

Review update:

I finally understand now, that for me, Coco is better on clothes than on my skin.

Apparently my skin projects the civet note in a strong way, so that after a delightful operatic beginning, I'm left feeling stranded in the smoking room.
That's how the civet note comes out on me, smokey just like a cigarette smoke.

But this does not happen when sprayed on clothes.
Happy that I found a way to continue to wear this beauty.

Manywaters8

I haven't tried the vintage formulation so am only going off of my experience with the newer one, which has been good.

I've always avoided Chanel perfumes after choking on the flowery alcoholic opening of No. 5 as a teenager. Years later and after a trek through my own subjective terrain of what scents mean to me (first I only liked fresh aquatics, then started opening up to musk and rose, then things started getting more complex), I randomly tried to test this and the EDT even though my mind was like "you hate sweet scents" / "you're not interested in spices."

At first I preferred the EDT. I had sprayed one on my left shoulder and one on my right. The EDT felt cleaner and bloomier. I was charmed by the spice actually, in both. The EDP felt dirty and reticent.

Ten minutes later I was burying my face in the EDP shoulder and huffing in the wafts of intense pleasure rippling from my skin. I waited a day and then got her.

This scent is both simple and complex, nostalgic and mysterious. I agree with the reviewers who say it slows down time, smells like Christmas, is deeply sexy. It's so many things. Not what I'd normally go for but I'm realizing there's way way more to perfume than just one's 'type.' This is such a delicious scent. And I hate gourmands!

August 10th 2022.

I had not had Coco for about 20 years.

Last month, bought a 60ml eau de parfum bottle and the 150 grams crème pour le corps (body cream).

This does not smell at all the Coco that I used to have.

This multi - way too many times reformulated does smell good, but not enough for me to repurchase.

Due to the difference in smell.

Class in a bottle. I was all of eighteen years old. I was in a huge department store in New York. There I was at the Lancome counter when the Chanel lady waved me over and stated "Real women wear Coco" To this day I bless that woman. This spicy, rosey, amber fragrance never stops amazing me. At first spray can be shocking (even after forty years) but let it dry down and you get a warm but clover smell. Keep it on longer and you get this amazing amber, sandalwood mix that can really only be pulled off by a 'real woman'. I am a Chanel type of gal and this is the scent that first made me aware of just exactly how a fragrance can become part of your signature, part of who you are. I have had friends and old boyfriends call me to ask 'what that perfume was' and what it was is unforgettable. I understand the hype and the popularity of Coco Mademoiselle but let's not forget the Grand Dame that came first. She knows what she is doing and she is a real woman.

stacia79

Roses laced with amber, clove and civet. When I was a little girl in the 80s, this was the height of sophistication for how a grown and wealthy woman should smell. A beautiful iconic 1980s powerhouse that lasts all day. Not for the shy, really. This is dramatic! It might smell a bit dated but I believe the secret to wearing perfumes that are possibly dated is to wear them in much smaller amounts than people wore them in their heyday. When you wear the tiniest amount it's almost an entirely new experience. It allows the flowers to peek through a bit more.

Gi5elle.C

One of the classiest, most elegant perfumes I've ever worn. Not for the faint-of-heart. I've worn Coco on and off for years and still love it every time I wear it. You can smell it on your clothes days later. I will always have this in my collection.

pkng7x

This fragrance, is a day time or lunch time date. It is very chic, classy and sophisticated yet independent and strong kind of woman. It's a clean sophisticated elegant woman. It's definitely ambery, hints of citrus and florally. It also reminds me of after shower wet hair shampoo, not that it's funny but like you just got out from a shower, smelling fresh and all clean.

josie1062

Coco is such a classy, beautiful fragrance. The opening is quite a strong aromatic punch that can be a bit intimidating. It used to remind me almost of bug spray. But give it a chance, the dry down is gorgeous!!! On my skin it is the most perfect warm & cozy Christmas evening. Spicy, a tad sweet, and sort of piney. Despite its warmth it is fresh and crisp. It has a moderate sillage for me. On my mother's skin however, she can spray it only once and the scent will fill up a room. It smells completely different on her. A spicy, vanilla, and tonka bean explosion. Love it! I can even see a man being able to pull this scent off.

Violinplayah

Getting the coriander on this summer night. I used to think this reminded me of an era, I loved it but it smelled dated, but now I can pick out the note layers and it’s lost all connection to time and place. It’s a really lovely perfume and I think as my nose has matured over my fragrance journey, I am able to enjoy it even more. I must say, out of my entire collection of old and new and inbetween, I’ve never been accused of smelling like an “old lady”. Remember, the perfume is only half the fragrance, your body chemistry also has to do with how it’s perceived by others.

GiulianaC

A warm, spicy terracotta embrace. Not for the faint of heart. It definitely has that 80's signature to it, but it's way more modern and approachable than Chanel No. 5. An icy cold winter night and an hot herbal tea: this is the scenario that smelling this evokes.

Gioia's secret

I don’t understand why most of the reviewers called it as an old lady perfume. It smells just like better version of Dove soap, very beautifully feminine and clean scent, but in a modern interpretation. If OG Chanel No. 5 smells like hard soap, Coco smells like Dove soap. I am still not sure whether I want to have it as a projection here is not the best, at least I don’t feel it on me, but dry down on skin is so divine.
Update: I have bought it, and I am obsessed with it, it lasts for days on hair and clothes, it doesn’t have strong sillage as Coco Mademoiselle Intense, but the scent is really special to me🤍

Federica76

This is coming of age perfume. I was possibly 18, in Paris for the first time ever, we are talking 1994 at best. Playing cool, some exoctic looking Italian small thing in Paris for the first time ever to meet my viking boyfriend. It was Christmas and we drank champagne and ate chocolate mousse, presents came on Christmas eve: his doctor father gave me a perfume bottle of Coco Chanel, what a treat! Gorgeous, oriental, spicy, amber, peach, sophisticated and rich to my young nose. So many nemories, an absolute stunner, pure class. I now know his father was the catch 😉

Sapienta

This is literally olfactory artwork. Layered and multidimensional scent that keeps changing. Warm amber, cloves and something sweet but not sugary.. Cant discover what.. Dry down is absolutely amazing. Dont judge until it settles. It will surprise you!

duaa abed

this smells soooo good wow i didn't think this or no.5 would smell good but now smells rich zesty ambery maybe some people smelled it on old women but the sent new to me and i love that . im impressed in my buying list 🤑❤

eva.daisy.88

Tried it on a paper tester today, very old fashioned. Immediate dislike.

Frangipanilove

This is one of my all time favourite fragrances. Pure class. Incredibly sensual with excellent blending, so many notes in a beautiful composition. It is spicy without being overpoweringly so, it is floral without being overpoweringly so, it is orange fruits, without being overpoweringly so. There is equal balance of lightness and brightness whilst at the same time being spicy oriental. Very warm and inviting but not too heavy. It is absolutely gorgeous. Amber, hint of cola (mandarin and tonka with spices), genuine, natural sex appeal from the labdanum and civet and sweetness that is arising from the composition, not from being doused in a gourmandy one note ethyl maltol or vanillin like most of today’s sweet issues. It is kind of like when they made confectionery with real sugar as opposed to glycose syrup. Also a living fragrance, different temperature bringing out different facets. You could get away wearing this in the summer also, if you suddenly felt like a Coco moment. Absolutely, eternally beautiful, like Catherine Deneuve or Eva Green. My review is for a vintage bottle, not sure how the latest reiterations have fared.

Sexbox1814

Iv tried with this one for years and funny enough men love it on me I get compliments when I wear it you will be noticed when you wear it but I just can’t there’s something there that I don’t like i think it’s the cloves it’s too spicy for me,,I’m a powdery NO5 girl…

BlondieCurls

@blonde bombe, Marilyn wore Chanel no 5, Coco was released long after her death in 1984.

elisa.fuentes.1

2022. IT DOESN'T LAST ON MY SKIN. SHAME CAUSE it is expensive

Nosyla

Msmoleskin is bang on. This is beautiful and completely seamless from top to bottom. My go-to amber, and I’ve tried many. Distinctive and classy. Day or night, all seasons.

msmoleskin

this one’s been a long time coming… a strong bias for decades…

Coco is one of the real ones: delicious from the first tangy whiff to the last pillowcase sigh. none of that “wait for it to dry” or “let it air out for a bit” — or even “look out for the brief stinky phase” — business with this one. oh, no. even if you “bruise” the application by rubbing it too much, the effect is a brief spotlight on the ylang-ylang banana note — which is more interesting than unpleasant.

she isn’t quite what she was in the 90s. but, hey, none of us is. especially now, with all the allergy restrictions, i’m impressed she’s still eminently recognizable. the main thing i miss from the past is the heavier dose of cloves, but everything else is still here, including some cloves — and they’ve subbed in a spicy resin or another spice to boost them? rest assured: she’s still a masterpiece of sweet citrus, spiced roses, mild jasmine, honeyed amber, and clean fur — a balm for the soul. well done.

musical accompaniment: “Cool Hot Sweet Love” by Red Velvet

/current edp? i hope? could possibly be recent back-stock in this transitional time

MissChanel85

Very classy, acquired taste. 💛

blonde_bomber

is this the perfume marilyn monroe wore ?!

Furs&FrAGErence

Absolute gorgeous, elegant spice. Sometimes civet can be too detectable in fragrances but not this masterpiece.
Very true to all Chanel. Orchestrated perfectly.

Interestingly enough, the dry down reminds me so much of Obsession by Calvin Klein but with a rose note. I ordered Tea rose EDP to use as a layering fragrance and I am very interested in comparing 🧐 Update; definitely more refined than Obsession and I definitely more lovely

TheScentualWorld

Review for the 80’s vintage….

Breathtakingly gorgeous! Rich, heady, opulent, spicy/ambery baroque beauty. The vintage is truly something else. Sadly, but not surprisingly, the latest version seems to have fallen victim to reformulation as is inevitable, after reading several reviews bemoaning it’s downfall…it’s still lovely in its own right, but just isn’t the same…😔

If you can, do try to source an earlier vintage version from the 80’s - 90’s, as it is incredibly potent and very long-lasting.
Smooth, sumptuous, incredibly complex and deeply intoxicating. Sensual and elegant. Sweet and indulgent. Rich, deep golden amber in colour.

Beautiful in all iterations - Parfum, Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette, I have them all and love to reach for them especially in the colder weather.
Coco is warm, enveloping and so very comforting.

It’s big, it’s bold, it’s beautiful. And I love it!

One of the best Oriental fragrances ever made and my most favourite Chanel ever.

Exquisite and truly unforgettable. ♥️

benja

The best perfume on my wife! We went through all kinds of fragrances but this one is my favorite. Use one light spray from a foot and every lady will smell amazing!

BonnieLeeH

I just received Coco from Chanel today. First sniff I wanted to send it back. Mistake. I sprayed more on my arm, let it settle and all of a sudden a beautiful and delicate fragrance wafted to my nose. 🥰.

SHEER. PERFECTION.

Jacklyn's Perfumery

Coco is the essence of elegant beauty. Perfumery on a whole other level. There is no other way to put it except that this fragrance is pure luxury. Coco makes me feel so special when I wear it. It is so well-blended and one of the top best amber fragrances I have ever smelled. Full of lush roses, resinous spices and sweet decadent florals mixed with fruits done right from beginning to end. And from the moment my husband smelled this fragrance on me for the first time he asked me instantly what are you wearing? He was so taken back from it never experiencing anything like it. I'm telling you this fragrance is so beautiful it draws people in and shifts your mood and exuberates such confidence in the person wearing it. My husband has come to love the house of Chanel as well with me because anything I wear from them he knows has the quality of fine french perfumery I can count on.

I remember in my early 20's when I first owned it, blind bought it and smelled it for the first time. I fell in love right on the spot and I thought to myself..Now THIS is what a real woman smell's like. I felt like the fragrance matured me that day. I never was the same with perfumery after such an experience. And it was my own personal discovery. I grew up with my mother showing me Dior's vintage 90's powerhouse Poison and being smitten then..but now this? I never smelled anything like it before and Coco further changed the way I saw perfumery forever. And I thought If fragrance can be this good then I want to explore even more. And I've never looked back. Yes Coco can do that to you..the quality is undeniably remarkable. I have a vintage bottle of her. Still as glorious as it's ever been. And I will continue to buy her when my bottle's run out. I would feel incomplete without Coco in my life because the fragrance made such an impact in who I am as a fragrance lover and collector that I treasure it. As I'm sure it has done for many other's here as well. :)

It's just an experience you will come to be accustomed to. If you love quality, especially a beautiful vintage feel in a perfume, once you try one of Chanel's fragrances you're probably going to be around for life. Coromandel..stunning, Le Lion..stunning, Coco Mademoiselle & Intense..stunning..and the list can go on and on. I have so many from Chanel. For me the house is amazing and their perfumes are nothing less than outstanding when you find the one's that you identify with that speak personally to you.

PerfumedParrot

I’m sure the vintage version is stunning but this modern EDP is a scream for help from the past trapped inside a bottle.

The opening is boldly vintage with decadent animalic furs (which doesn’t scare me) and of course it has the signature Chanel DNA. I love cloves and spicy orientals but I don’t think this is the woman it once was. It also doesn’t last (which I doubt would be the case for the original formulation).

I’m washing it off whilst reminding myself why original formulations are always best.

Enrium

Coco is a 1980s time capsule, a heady, spicy oriental scent that was Chanel's answer to Opium and Cinnabar. Coco is more muted and nuanced than either of those - although rich and spicy, it is airier, and its florals have more space to bloom. This results in a more wearable and arguably more elegant spicy-amber scent that those aforementioned spicebombs. It is warm and cosy, evocative of Christmas at times, yet also smells of elegance and refinement, the type of perfume to wear to an evening at the opera.

Coco opens with nose-tickling peppery spices, along with a rich rose note, with some fruity sweetness thanks to the peach and orange. Cloves emerge fairly early on, and are pretty dominant, but are balanced nicely by the rose, sweet mimosa and clean jasmine. Some neroli enhances the orange note of the opening, as well as adding to the floral bouquet. The blend of sweet and spicy notes forms a pleasant soft cola accord, reminding me of Youth Dew, one of my favourite amber-spicy scents.

I haven't (to my knowledge) encountered clover flower in perfume before, but they have grown in my childhood garden every spring for as long as I can remember, and I can just about pick up its nectar-like smell in here. I love an unusual note, especially one that evokes memories for me.

As it dries down, beautiful, smooth sandalwood emerges - I am partial to a good sandalwood note in perfume - along with more soft spices and a hint of smokiness. The amber accord is excellent here - animalic, slightly salty, with warm leathery tones, and sweetened just the right amount by a hint of smooth vanilla. Coco fades to a smooth vanilla-amber skin scent with a hint of spice. Sillage is moderate, but longevity is day-long (my bottle is a vintage miniature from the noughties - apparently the perfomance of the current version is lacking).

Mature, elegant and ladylike, Coco is a Chanel classic for a reason. One of my favourite spicy scents (though perhaps still a little too mature for me). 4.5/5.

smelly_goose

This is my go-to winter fragrance. Very spicy and amber-y. Definitely has a bit of a powdery note. I find it mature without being “old lady” (I’m 24 and don’t feel too young to wear this). It has that warm, sensual feeling without being too heavy, and I think it’s much more modern-smelling than Opium.

CeeTee

I love the spice and amber, which is what I get from this. I imagine that it was a humdinger back in it’s heyday! However, I cannot recommend this in its present iteration simply due to the performance. If you have money to burn, it’s a nice, classy fragrance.

JacquieDS

MY big love, such comfort, warm, spicy, floral, wrapped around me like a warm soft blanket

Rober7a

Cloves cloves cloves, they dominate the fragrance from the opening til the very last breath. Some dry coriander, then there's hints of dark dusty rose combined with amber, and a little bit of greenness from notes I don't recognize which give it medicinal feel. This smells gothic to me, and cold-hearted despite having so many warm notes, something is cold about this. Very mature, not necessarily in years, but I can only picture a mature minded individual wearing this, perhaps I am influenced by my memories of smelling this on very specific type of ladies in my life, because it is very distinct and recognisable. It gives me YSL Opium vibes too, not that similar, but it they both have a cold and serious feel, I prefer this one. Still not my cup of tea, but it does have great lasting power and projection.

Danadoo

I've been in love with Coco mademoiselle and coco noir for years and I finally got to smell Coco and wow, it's so different than I expected. It has that 80s smell to it and I'm sure that it was my aunt's signature scent as it immediately reminded me of her. I like it, but definitely prefer mademoiselle for warm weather and noir for cold. To me, this doesn't smell at all like the other versions and I find it almost weird that Chanel puts them in the same "family ".

brokesta911

Chanel Coco edp (1984) - spicy Chanel - #jacquespolge ‘s creation is an opulent Spicy floral together with Clove, Amber, Sandalwood. I also get a Peach, Mimosa and Vanillas in the backbone. The edp has a stronger clove and Rose accord that you don’t find in the edt. It might sound like it’s all over the place, but this came out refined, focused and actually quite sexy.

tanny_ups

This perfume last forever ! It’s unbelievable! Most long lasting of all the Chanel perfumes around

binthadifa

Blind bought a tester. I was too curious to let it go. It's very strange because when I looked up the notes I really thought it would start out as a warm scent with the amber, cloves and so on. To me, the first impression was a soapy scent. To be exact, the Dove soap. Exactly the same to my nose. It only warmed up some time after the initial spray. Then I could smell the amber and it really transformed into an oriental scent. Still beautiful. The 'la fin' of this perfume I could mostly detect the patchouli(ish) note and a little something else, somewhat masculin. Definitely a perfume that has layers, a story to tell. I could understand why one would say it smells old lady'ish, but as someone in her thirties I can tell you that it's not the case with Coco. There are perfumes out there that smell way more outdated than this one. Coco is timeless, but you definitely have to test it before buying.

I tested it in the winter, on a rainy day.

Also, I like Coco better than her younger sister Mademoiselle. It's a queen vs princess thing, I guess 😊

caraelaine

On a quest to find a few signature scents. I had high hopes for Coco but the powdery notes are reminiscent of "old lady perfume" on my skin. The initial spray was cloying and a bit nauseating, a little goes a long way apparently. The smell transports me to a different world, but it's not my world. The search continues.

I absolutely LOVE and ADORE this perfume - on other women.
This strikes notes that are more in the "Autumn" type category, and when I have tried to wear it - it is almost as if I am trying to wear my mother's high heels; it is not an exact fit for me, although I can admire it on other people.

This is just slightly too heavy for me, personally... although it is great on other people.
I would put this in the same category as Fendi (which I also love and adore, but find a bit too heavy for me); Youth Dew (one of my mother's favorite perfumes of all time); Eau du Soir is another autumnal perfume that I love and adore, but find it is too heavy, dark, mature for me... I love the way this smells on other people but I have a hard time wearing this. (Some of this could be that these perfumes launched at a time when I was in my 20's and these were all too mature for my taste at that time).

The closest thing to this in my collection is Jil Sanders no. 4, which is probably the darkest/deepest fragrance that I have.

There is a "seriousness" about CoCo that sends the message that this is all business/professional...
On me, this feels too heavy, somber.

I need something that has more of a lift and lilt to it; there needs to be something with more air, sparkle, more of an uplifting type vibe to it.

-------------

I would like to see a more modern twist on the same notes within Coco -
Something that would give a little lift/lilt to this, without compromising the ingredients.
Can that be done?
If so -- then DO IT!
I'd love to find a Coco that I can wear... and something that is not this heavy and somber.
I need a bit more fun than this --
Can you make THAT happen?

That would be my challenge to Chanel --
Create a Coco that I will LOVE and ADORE and ACTUALLY WEAR!

sugarfreespirit

This isn't spicy on me, which I'm very sad about. The initial smell straight from the bottle had me super excited because she smells so elegant and warm! But on my skin she is calm, classy and not as fierce as I had expected from smelling it in the shop. I'm not disappointed, this is such a beautiful smell and everyone keeps telling me how great I smell. Absolutely adore this perfume

miewtje

I adore coco.
Funny thing, all the reviews I've ever found of this scent mention its warmth and opulence. And it is both of those things. Yet I remember the first time I smelled this straight out of the bottle, coco smelled really cold to me. In fact, I felt like it's DNA was extremely similar to Chanel's Cristalle. Both of these scents evoke this nostalgic feeling in me that reminds me of cold winter evening walks. When I started wearing coco it warmed up indeed and I got the amber, the spices, clove and all that jazz. But. To me, this scent never truly warms up the way it is advertised, which I love so this is not a negative aspect. Coco is hot/cold. It's beautiful but distant. I wear this whenever I want to be left alone. I personally, because of this quality, can't fully describe this scent as warm. Yet there's a light peeking through the wintery air. The more I press my nose into my wrists to sniff out this scent the more warmth I find. But never to its maximum capacity, yet it is still opulent en strong. I love the feelings that bubble up every time I smell this. It just makes me feel really good in my own skin.

seliko

it’s my first time trying a scent where i can pick up on the amber note so clearly. from the initial spritz i didn’t think i could ever like this scent, however once it’s settled this reminds me of my hometown and my elderly family members, so it’s not something i could ever wear but it is pretty nostalgic to me. powdery amber is the best way i can describe her. it brought me back memories for sure

melusina1982

Absolutely exceptional. The best spicy amber concoction ever. It is elegant and demanding like a black tuxedo with high heels, yet approachable and easy to wear at the same time.
It can turn a little "bugsprayish" on me in summer so I prefer to use it in the colder months.
I personally find it very similar to the eau de toilette so I wouldn't have both at the same time.
Love to wear it with all black outfits, formal and casual alike.

komail

This is so beautiful , sensual, and classy. I can pick every note in this listed composition except for the most obvious and biggest note which is aldahydes. For me this is mainly an aldahaydes fragrance supported by all the other notes listed.

To me this would be more suitable for a young classy female. I believe it is a signature scent type of a fragrance. It word all year round day and night.

perfume_obsessed

Coco is just pure magic for me. It smells so warm and rich that I find it cozy and comforting in cool weather, but it’s not heavy so it’s just as enjoyable in the warmer months. It does have a nostalgic feel, but still feels very relevant. It’s one of the best orientals I’ve ever tried and I just love. Classy and sophisticated, but so comforting and inviting. Coco is always a pleasure to wear.

BerryRose

The soft amber family is home to some of most beloved fragrances: Cacharel's Loulou, Heeley's Coccobello and now Chanel's Coco.

The original Coco (1984) has now largely been eclipsed by her little sister flanker Coco Mademoiselle (2001), which has been a top seller throughout the 2000s and the 2010s. But I am here to argue that Coco is absolutely due for a comeback. In the incomparable Perfumes: The A-Z Guide (2010), Luca Turin praises Coco but notes that "Coco feels terribly dated and needs another decade or two to overcome its tired eighties image. Let's hope they still make this by the time people are ready to give it a fresh try." This review was written in 2008, when the first edition of Perfumes was published and Turin has proved himself correct yet again.

The instant I smelled Coco I knew it was perfect for the current moment. Like outfits worn by Lady Diana in the 80s, (i.e. floral midi dresses with huge collars, logo sweaters topped by menswear inspired blazers, knitwear worn over piecrust blouses) this feels exactly like something that you want to wear right now. I purchased this for the holiday season because of the combination of citrus (mandarin orange) and spice notes (coriander, clove, vanilla, tonka bean) and while it does have a festive vibe that makes it perfect for holiday party dressing, it's ultimately a spicy, elegant, and sophisticated fragrance that is perfect for cold weather. Though I took down my Christmas tree after Twelfth Night, like my bottle of No. 5 EDT which I purchased this past autumn, I cannot bear to put Coco away and will continue to wear it until spring approaches.

Atreyu_Crimmins

Perhaps the most beautiful of all orientals.

Coco creates euphoria. It increases vibrations of the heart and triggers memories. Jacques Polge must have waved a jewel encrusted wand over a chalice to create this timeless magic.

Orange oil is blended with rose, jasmine, mimosa and frangipani and topped off with a cup of creamy spiced chai and a whiff of liqueur. Warming and classy and oh so elegant.

Spray, inhale deep, and marvel at Coco with an impudent twitch of your ears!

Iloveloveperfume

Why aren’t the ylang ylang and the patchuli listed on Chanel’s page included in the notes?

skiergirl24

Rich, spicy, sultry and dark. Mysterious. Cloaked in a smoky haze. Sexy, sophisticated, little black dress scent. Watch out though, she can drink you under the table and she carries a pack of Dunhills in her purse! If this perfume was a starlet she would be Lauren Bacall (seductive sideways glance, gravelly deep throated laugh and all).

MargotHarow

Beautiful spicy amber. Unfortunately it reminds me of the 1990 Kenzo parfums....so its a pass for me. But that is totally subjective memory of parfums I hated. Otherwise, this is a very beautiful multifaceted quintessential Chanel fragrance, in that it is complex, has both warmth and aldehydes, you can smell lots of different accords at the same time and projects and lasts. 10/10 like most Chanel fragrances.

kvanttifysiikan

Very warm, mostly amber, rose, and the civet musk is brought out on my skin. It’s so pretty and I love it especially during the colder season, she has that charm. If you don’t like amber you won’t like this perfume ! It’s a beautiful winter-y cozy spiced amber perfume. Need I say more ?

TillyWave

I just can't. Coco is so beautiful and so compelling that I just can't even! If Coco didn't exist there would be a hole in the world of perfumery. Every second that I wear this it gets better and better, from the clove studded peach, the coriander oranges, to the cinnamon edged roses, to the sweetly smouldering resins that almost smell like dark chocolate, and the whole composition has a warmth that moves, it's like heat lightening. The EDP especially is more animalic indeed that is where that sense of heat is coming from.

I've taken a break from wearing this for a year or two but now I cannot get enough. Just magical for the winter months, I always breathe more deeply when I'm wearing Coco.

I love both the EDT and the EDP, I think that the EDT is woodier and smoother and the spices meld together and has less animalics, while the EDP is more floral, more animalic, and the spices are more discrete, they stand out more individually.

frag_nostalgia

What an insanely gorgeous creation. Warm, alluring, seductive; the fruits quickly warm into the most bold, sensual, and animalic Oriental powdery embrace. Sprayed the EDP on my right arm today at Ulta and it lasted through getting my arms wet twice ( washing up, then washing my face over the tub) and thankfully it's almost as bold as directly after application! Chanel must've given thought to wearing through getting caught in the rain, possibly? Chanel is and will always be number one in QUALITY perfumery. I'm neither too thin nor too rich, but in my eyes Chanel is THE best in fragrances. I'm currently revisiting the original classics (no. 5 and Coco) to juxtapose the 90s made, super-citrussy oakmoss delight that is Chanel Cristalle, because I can appreciate them more in my adulthood; and I am SO feeling the Coco. 🥰 LOVE!

Stoicchild

A very warm and cozy Amber fragrance. This is one of my favourite by Chanel.

lady_ireth264

A review of new tester bottle that I bought.
The powderiness of Coco is very strong when I rub the back of my hands together. Almost drowning me in it.
I'll remember not to do that. I'll do walk on spray or just spray it on my clothes.
But when it settles down and cling onto skin later on, the spicy amber is very elegant.
Definitely potent with enormous sillage for the first 30min.
I really want to try coco noir.

==============================

I have to say this is a gorgeous chameleon of a perfume. The past couple of nights I wore this to bed, the comforting cocoon of powdery flower is just so elegant. Woke up with faint traces of amber. I wore it again before bed and got to a point where it smells like licorice or burnt leather, then just for the fun of it respray on the exact spot at the back of my hand. Wow what do you know I smell something new. Slightly lactonic and fresh, maybe that's the peach shining through. After a few minutes goes back to the powdery opening.
I adore this perfume. So interesting.

noura148

I just bought this lovely scent, sprayed my hand with one sprit und went home to my boyfriend who immediately hated the way i smelled und totally hated the scent saying i smell like an old lady, so disappointed 😅 but i still really like it

IsSheNotFragrant

I am at loss for words when faced with Coco. There is nothing like her. She is the Empress of Fragrance. Deep, golden noir, mystical and ineffably beautiful. Perfection. Another Polge creation which cements his place as the greatest perfumer of the 20th century for me.

diego.lesgart

Felt in love at first snif when I was 20. I am 49. For me and I think for everyone it is a complex fragance. Intoxicant, powerfull, very solid, imprinting... a magnetic force field. Only for winter nights or cold fall evenings. I would not dare to say unisex as read here, but I wore it. Cleary spicied, expensive spicies, amber and exotic citrics, and powerful resins for a great blend, an interesting and complex licquor It is really other Chanel masterpiece from the glorious 80ts.

splendorfalls

I’ve been wearing Coco for about 20 years and it’s still a favorite. Warm and alluring, spicy and sophisticated. Perfect for colder weather. I smell wafts of the roses, amber, and sandalwood when I wear it.

honey2dabee

I see a lot of reviews discouraging young women from wearing this, or implying that it is hard to wear. I disagree. This smells mature and calming, but it's far from dull or musty. I imagine this fragrance belongs to a young woman around 20 who works in a jewelry store and always has perfect nails and perfect teeth. She's charismatic, yet coy. Almost unapproachable.

terezzaaa

I first encountered Coco EDP while babysitting when I was a teenager. The lady whose child I watched wore this fragrance and whenever she would leave for her dates I remember thinking that she smelled so lovely. Some years later (in my 20's) I decided to get a sample of it and try it out for myself. It smelled just as intoxicating as I remembered...it is evocative of cold nights and a cozy seat by the fire with a nice glass of mulled wine. To my nose, the fragrance accords that come through are spicy and woody with a fair bit of amber. It is one of the coziest fragrances I have come across and the dry down is beautifully soft and warm, it is like being wrapped up in a luxurious blanket.

scentnut

Coco always stood on the Chanel counter drawing me to it’s beauty decades ago. I longed to understand it in my youth, but it felt so inaccessible and a tad pretentious. I never sampled the EDP back then, only sniffing the sprayer with a wrinkled nose. I tried sampling the EDT a while back and I was again unimpressed. I just didn’t get it. Fast forward to today. I won’t bore everyone with the details as to how I wound up with this precious little 1.2 oz bottle of Coco EDP but I am so happy to have this icon in my collection.

I only sprayed one wrist very lightly from a good distance to avoid being overwhelmed. It starts STRONG like most Chanel’s. Effervescent, sharp cherry cola / root beer that I recommend spraying in another room and immediately vacating the area! The clove is fierce here. At first you’ll think you’ve made a mistake but as always with Chanel, it is so worth the few minutes wait.

Fifteen minutes in, and I am smiling. Ahhhh. THIS is what I’ve been missing. I GET it now! I also own Coco Noir and the middle is where I actually smell some similarities. If you can get past the cloves (which thankfully mellow) you will enter this warm, rich, all encompassing cloud of heaven. The dry down is soft and spicy and distinctly “Coco.” Personally, it reminds me a little of Fendi (a dear friend of mine bathed in it) and also Obsession with the spicy accords. As many others have said, it is a serious perfume for someone who has their #%?! together!

Definitely a late fall / winter scent, unisex, and just darn delicious. I can imagine wearing this with a beautiful cocktail dress at a Christmas party. I can’t speak to the vintage comparisons as I never gave it a proper go many years ago, but I am happy with the performance. If it had much more sillage or longevity I think it would be too much.

FlowersinBloom

I am finally the woman that I always wanted to be and I’m celebrating by allowing myself to finally wear this perfume.

This is my favorite fragrance to wear to work everyday. I remember smelling this as a girl in the 80s and I loved it back then, but I knew I wasn’t ready for it yet. My mother wore Chanel No 5 and No 19 and I love these fragrances as well. I told myself that one day I would buy Coco when I was ready. Now I’m 40 years old and married with 2 children, and I got a 100 ml bottle for our 8 year wedding anniversary.

Every time I smell Coco it reminds me of being a little girl in the 80s. It makes me happy and it smells heavenly on me. My 4 year old son said that I smelled like cherry rainbow ice cream! 🍒 🌈 🍨!! I was so glad that he loves this scent as much as me.

When I first spray it it smells spicy and fresh, then as it warms up I smell the orange, rose, and warm powdery base. I live in Hawaii where it is 80 degrees all year round and this fragrance is wonderful in warm weather. It all blends together to an expensive cherry cotton candy haziness with rich amber and fresh floral powdery notes.

This pairs well with pearls, diamonds, red lipstick, wine colored nails, cream, camel, black, pale pink and navy.

Coco makes me feel glamorous, happy, and nostalgic like no other fragrance and that is why I chose this as my signature.

JoeMacchiato

Warm, spicy, mature, complex, and floral are just some of the many adjectives that come to mind when I smell Coco EDP. It is a mood, so I don't wear it often. I find myself spraying Coco whenever I feel like an embrace to comfort and reassure myself.

Juliusq75

Bought this on a blind buy, and while I don't regret it... not sure I love it yet. Coco is a bit dated for me, but I am not hating it. It reminds me a bit of some if the Elie Saabs with the heavy orange, which I like and dislike, but keep coming back to it. This is lighter than No.5, heavier than Gabrielle Essence. I think I should have tried Coco Noir, if I had seen the 1984 release date I would have skipped this for Noir. I will say, in 1984, I think this would have been lovely, it is very distinctive, and has some weight to it, but I wouldn't say its heavy. You have to love that orangey note that hangs on in an almost waxy way. I am going to try this a few more times, but am leaning back into Gabrielle Essence as it is more modern and lighter. Coco is swanky without being too much, I will give it that.

mots_croises

I work in HR, and this means that I can't go to work smelling like a piece of candy, even if I like smelling like candy. I need to smell like a wise woman who *might* have to fire someone. And this smells like that. Feminine, powerful, but not overpowering. Lasts all day so no worries about reapplying. Sophisticated, so you don't have someone standing in the frame of your office saying, 'you smell exactly like candied almonds.' It's welcoming, but it is not cloying. The spice is very prominent, but is well rounded by florals so it doesn't really bite. Not for a young woman looking to attract a fella at the club, but definitely the right smell for the person leading the talent planning meeting.

So… about a week ago I added a review to Vera Wang: periwinkle and Iris. It was a whole load of ‘this is a nice whispering scent that I will make my signature’ stuff. That was, until I was walking past one of those market stands that sells Milton Lloyd smell-alikes. I sprayed tutu and was instantly intrigued and couldn’t stop sniffing my arm some hours later. I came here and saw that it’s a dupe for Coco. Here’s the thing: up until now, me and Chanel have NOT been friends. I thought I’d smelt all of them and HATED them all. My skin (or so I thought) hates Chanel big time. Especially N0.5 and Coco Mademoiselle. They smell screechy and just plain awful, like being punched by stale flowers in a toilet but I had to know whether the original Coco smelt as good on me as this dupe did. I wasn’t holding out much hope though. I went into Boots and asked for a spray on my arm and the moment I smelt my skin I actually said ‘oh my god!’ out loud. In a good way. I can’t necessarily tell you what I smell in this, all I know is that this is love. This is definitely it. I thought I wanted something light and gentle, something that wouldn’t make me think too hard. I was clearly lying to myself because Coco is none of those things to me and I don’t know why I ever thought that I could settle for any less.

BougieSh3

I was looking for my first Chanel perfume that Suites me. a forty year old, classy, creative,
Southern woman. I like Madame Moiselle , but it was all too common. When I smelled Coco, it grabbed me like " this is you in a bottle lol." I purchased "Coco" and "Coco Noir" and have no regrets!

rosetinteddream

This is such an intoxicating concoction! I haven’t had the confidence to wear this out yet, despite really enjoying it. I feel that this doesn’t fully fit my personality. I’m hoping in time I grow to find that it does suit me. No 5 and 19 are more my taste at the moment.

The performance on this is outstanding. Seriously, it goes strong for a while and then when it dies down...you’re still going to get whiffs of it. I smelled it on me without looking for it the morning after sleeping with it on. And this is a new formulation (wtf Chanel, put this energy onto no 5 and 19?)

I could see people of any age wearing this, but I more find this to be suited to someone 30+ in age.

Also, and I know I’m going to get so much hate for this...but this and Dior Poison...I swear they were the inspirations behind the fragrances for the carpet powder my mom used in the 90s and potpourri 🤭

I don’t mean that negatively! But when I first smelled these fragrances, those two things came to me!

I still love them, please don’t hurt me! 😂

I like coco alot. Now i have coco noir, coco mademoisell and coco and outvof the 3 i put coco noir first then coco and coco m. 💪🏻😍

P-Nay

Coco Chanel is a distinguished, womanly scent; very swank, confident, sexy and purposeful. Not whimsical nor playing any games. A well-bread, I know who Iam and no remorse with it; I have people to see and places to go type of fragrance. This scent truly reminds me of an appealing sales associate at Neiman Marcus stylin-n-profilin in an ivory Coco Chanel blazer with chunky gold buttons, a lace top, bell-cuffed slacks and a pair of two-toned quilted textured, buttery soft pattened leather CC loafers asking: "Can i assist you with anything today?" Might I add, beautiful skin, wearing huge black cat glasses and topped with a bright orange lippie.😀 This and Tendre are my absolute, most favorite Chanel fragrances of her entire line. For mature noses only, dahhling. Hope this review was helpful.

Stillmagnolia

Oh my. Brain/words disengaged in an intoxicating haze of glory.

LizaJane

She is strong, she is stunning and she demands that her presence be known!

Upon first spritz, I wasn't sure I was going to like Coco. The intense burst of clove in the opening didn't sit well with me, but thankfully it only lasted a minute or two. The longer it sits on the skin, the more beautiful it becomes. After the initial burst of clove had settled, I could pick up on the rose, coriander and some vanilla but it's all blended together beautifully. It's absolutely lovely! There is something so intoxicating about this fragrance, I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist after putting it on.

This is definitely more of a mature smelling fragrance, but it's not at all "old lady-ish". I think a confident young women could easily wear this. I myself, am in my mid-twenties and have no problem wearing this. I actually got a compliment from my fiancé after testing it out for the first time.

When I smell Coco I envision a gorgeous women who is dressed to the nines, her hair is perfectly intact and she has on a bold red lip. She exudes confidence and sophistication, yet something about her draws you in. You can't help but want to get to know her. She's poised and professional, but you can tell she knows how to have a good time. *Wink, wink*

When I wear Coco, I feel like I can become this women. It gives me a boost of confidence and makes me feel oh so classy. I think you could easily wear this for any occasion, you can dress it up or dress it down. I think it could be considered unisex as well.

ALSO: Longevity is eternal. . . I put this on in the morning before work, went to bed that night with it still on my skin and when I woke up I could STILL smell traces of it.

Edit two hours after writing review: Even though I am wearing Coco Mad. today, AND I showered this morning, I am still catching whiffs of Coco somehow, somewhere. . .

Veronika95

She is beautiful, but she is definitely not easy to wear. When I first tried this perfume, I did not like it, at all. But it gets better every time I wear it. You need to explore it really thoroughly to give a judgment. The opening is kinda challenging, but the warm up is really nice. And the dry down actually reminds me of dry down of Coco Mademoiselle. That is the only resemblance I see between those two. I'm glad I bought this, it's something special in my collection. But honestly, I don't see myself wearing this out. I don't think it's that safe. I'm going to use it mostly at home, for my nose only. Maybe with time I will dare to take her out 😁
Also this is the first time I got 50ml bottle of Chanel. I usually go for 100ml. But this tiny bottle is so adorable 😍

Girl3

This is one of my favorite perfumes - it lasts, it has great depth, and it is rich, sexy and feminine. I have never had anyone give me a negative remark when I am wearing Coco Chanel. It is so balanced - it has the feeling of an eternal scent. Coco has a very sensual nose - men love it and always complement me when I am wearing it. It is definitely a woman's fragrance.

ThatMakesScents

Current batch "stinky". I thought that they may be using a synthetic oud instead.
I do appreciate the stank aspect very much as well.
