This is the first real perfume I ever bought (when I was like 15 or 16 with the money from my first job) and to this day it is one of my go-to evening or occasion scents. I think it's sexy but in a warm, girly, cozy way, and it's a pretty safe bet for first dates because it isn't too polarizing. Definitely nothing too interesting about it but a nice, safe, classy scent for many occasions.

Hgf2008

Very pretty, very likeable and definitely versatile. So why didn't I end up getting a full bottle?

I generally dislike the "beast mode" type fragrance obsession, but there must be some balance and despite multiple tests of different bottles under different conditions, this one did not stick around on me. I'm talking maybe an hour or two, at a very close range. I don't believe I went nose-blind to it either - for whatever reason, the performance seemed surprisingly poor.

As with all fragrances - people's skin differs and someone else might have more luck but for the price, I'd expect to smell like 2010s Keira Knightley until at least the first coffee break. For what the fragrance is designed for, it did not meet that brief on me.

Mind you, a close friend loves and won't be without it...

ChelleBelle84

At the time of its release back in 2001, this was no ordinary scent. Over the years however, just about every designer launched their own “version” of this scent. As a result, it became the norm rather than the exception that it once was.

This is quite citrusy and that can be a deal breaker for some. As it starts to dry down the rose, jasmine, and orange blossom come out to play, followed close behind by patchouli…a lot of patchouli. I’m ok with patchouli, but for some, it can smell like something sour and rancid. So, I recommend trying before buying.

On the right chemistry, this is a gorgeous scent, but can be headache inducing if over-sprayed. Go easy on the trigger until you know how this plays out on your skin.

As others have mentioned, this is a very classy scent that can easily be worn anytime anywhere as someone’s signature. I don’t find it dated at all. In fact, I find it to be a timeless scent that can be worn by almost any age group except by young teens. Could be a nice formal scent for a 16+ year old teen going to prom. A nice scent for office for both young and mature professionals alike. A nice scent for casual wear as well as for formal. It has that much versatility.

SoheePark

Such a unique experience!
I thought I didn’t like this fragrance because the few times I tried it out I sprayed it on paper. It was very citrusy and sparkling, almost spicy.
Recently I received a sample so I used it as my perfume (on skin and clothes). Wow! It is so much more woody and oriental, and the patchouli is the strongest ingredient on me. Big love!

sntiago

I hate most of chanel's perfumes but this one is the only one I actually like - my mom has it and it's the only one of her perfumes, aside from the Tom Ford ones, that I use when I visit her. It's a kind of spicy citrus woody scent. The underlying freshness and sweetness makes it a perfect spring summer perfume. Doesn't have that generic "perfume-y" smell but it does kind of remind me of Head&Shoulders apple citrus shampoo or like a bag of mixed candy where only the orange and lemon flavored ones are left. When it dries down it's very shampoo-ey. I think this scent would work for a guy too. Decent longevity for being a citrus perfume.

VanHessen1234

Coco Mademoiselle smells like hard candy. The quality is ok. I have smelled so many dupes that sadly this smells just "cheap". reminds me of cottong candy that settles down on powdery musk, i dont think it fits my skin chemistry at all. i would call this "young, fun, bubblegum."

haddock

1 sentece: it is a velvety, smooth, likable peach fruit..

Msala140

This was my second designer perfume that hubby gifted me since I got into fragrances .Even after getting more into niche , I still love wearing this and just makes me smile at how timeless, classy and cheerful it is. So versatile, it can be a signature scent , date night or working out , anything . It’s inoffensive. Everyone will always love this scent on you. IDC how mainstream it is, men love it! My husband loves it , which is why he always buys me a bottle after I run out lol

Saveria

A pleasant perfume but quite ordinary.

Coco Mademoiselle is a floral/fruity fragrance that - to my nose - smells more like citrus than anything else; orange, tangerine, bergamot. Quite acidulous.

It is fresh and the Chanel style is clearly recognizable; when you smell it, you immediately know what you are dealing with.

Very well made, it remains pleasant - in fact I finished my bottle - but I will not repurchase; it lacks of originality and above all, this acidulous side is not what I prefer.

Candyshop12

I prefer the edt in this over 25 yr old scent , yes its classy but for some reason smelling this in 2024 smells so dated now. Something in it bothers me when i smell it. One point, i like it and next point i dislike it. Maybe because its so played out. lol!

daffodilsandcoffee

A forever classic. I was gifted this for my birthday last year and I'm glad to have it back in my collection after many years apart. It's versatile enough for any occasion and can be dressed up or dressed down. I don't tend to smell it that often out in the wild, but even if I did, it wouldn't matter because it's an excellent fragrance and popular for a reason.

Chelssmellsgood

This was my first bottle of perfume back in high school. Back then, I loved it. It's not so much my style today, but it's still a really beautiful and classy fragrance. It's perfect year round in my opinion, and very easy to throw on. A great signature scent. To my nose, it's fresh orange and florals but there's also some light warmth and woodiness in there which I could see working for the cooler and warmer months.

I see a lot of people say this smells "old lady" like. I disagree. This is fresh, classy and sexy. A boss lady fragrance.

Edit: my husband complimented this fragrance, he said "it smells like a cabin in the spring with a waterfall nearby." He hasn't been this descriptive about my other fragrances soo... I think I love this perfume again and I need a full bottle lol.

Letmeregister

Really an amazing perfume. Smells so fresh, not sweet at all. It's a mix of citruses and florals. I really think it's one of the rare perfumes that everybody will like. The performance is also great. Contrary to popular believe not many women wear it, at least in my country I never smelled it on anyone, and that's because it's really expensive for a designer fragrance. I think it's worth getting if you want to make a good impression.

Khushi95

This is such a beautiful scent. You can definitely feel the chanel price tag with it. The only issue I have with it is the longevity and performance. I tried the intense version for the same reason but I still prefer the original. I wish the brand would somehow make this long lasting without altering the smell.

petra_ita

Coco Mademoiselle was my signature scent for so many years. Such a classy and pretty fragrance. I don't use it anymore, only because it's so common now and I guess after so many years I needed a change. I still appreciate it and smelling it brings back so many memories.

Sannesans

The patchouli done by Chanel is so classy. Never screaming, loud, or too much, just perfect!
I think this fragrance has stood the test of time so well. I still smell it around me on women in their 40-50, myself included:-), and it’s beautiful.
Thank you Chanel for staying true to yourself, not mass producing, but remaining chic, timeless elegance. 🙏

perfumaphile

Honestly this perfume has given me mixed emotions for years. There are parts of it that I enjoy and parts that I dislike. I've never pulled the trigger to buy it so to speak, because I think for that price point, it should be a love. I recently tested it again, and I liked the beginning notes, they were slightly fruity and clean, but then it began emmitting what I can only guess is the patchouli and it began to remind me of nail polish remover. It's strange, because in the past, I used to prefer the drydown and thought it was a flattering scent, so I don't know if they changed the formula, or if I just changed my taste. It's sad, because I feel like I'm missing out but it just never sat well on me. Goodbye coco mademouselle, for now. ;)

sweetcherie23

Sophisticated, expensive and feminine scent. At first i expected it to smell too mature or have too much floral but its perfect. This may just be my skin chemistry as perfumes always smell much softer on my skin. I love this it is perfect for when i want to feel like the best version of myself

nilufer_bloom

I have found out that when layered with Givenchy L'Interdit Rouge, this one smells just even better!

gzbnyz

Its a fresh floral which is a bit spicy in the opening. It is mature which is not exactly my taste. I think it is okay to use for all occasions, it isnt overwhelming

iNayla

If you can only have one perfume, this is it. Day&night summer&winter.
Citrusy floral yet in a very sexy feminine way.

Most compliment getter ever.

Joshua Zijdeman

Im a man. i suggested this scent to a girl ans she bought it and wore it everytime. She left me after having everyday contact for years. and it was the best smelling scent for a woman in my opinion. But every time smelling this just makes me sad because of all the memories.

MarDeca

Smelled like a big flower bomb to me. Way too strong, I had to wash it off. I could see this giving headaches to some folks.

I received Coco Mademoiselle as a birthday gift. When I first sprayed it I had mixed feelings about it. To me it came off airy, femenine and a little sweet but also cold, distand and somewhat masculine- very nuanced. As I kept getting acquainted with the scent I fell in love with it. It is my quintessential workplace scent and also for hot days where I need something a bit more elegant. It has very good performance.

I am looking to trade my Coco Noir 3.4oz (100ml) bottle for a Coco Mademoiselle EDP. PM me please!!!

“That Girl” Fragrance
I have a large perfume collection consisting of fragrances from $10 to $500 and this fragrance outshines all of them. Coco Mademoiselle beats even the most expensive perfumes I’ve worn. The smell is truly intoxicating. It’s pretty and flirty. It’s strong without being head-ache inducing. It is quite literally the perfect fragrance for any woman of any age. The perfect gift for yourself or for someone else. It’s amazing. I usually hate Chanel fragrances because of their mature, grandma-ish smell but this perfume has none of that.

jenzel4381

I don't hate it... but I don't like it either. I don't get the hype. I had to scrub it off because I just couldn't stand smelling it for too long and it gave me a headache.

yara.xo

such a delectable perfume. it has a lovely complex layering, enough that i haven’t been able to find any dupes or clones of it even from brands that claim to dupe it. some days i smell some notes more over others and idk why that is. also it lasts like 5 seconds so is a shame, needs work on the longevity.

sbv

This is a great perfume for office, thanks to the citrusy opening notes. At the same time, it is mysterious rather than transparent - the rose-patchouli combination makes it sophisticated and mature. But it is expensive as well- I think there are great rose-patchouli perfumes that are both cheaper and more sophisticated.
The good thing about this perfume is its balance it's neither too sweet not too citrusy, neither too floral nor too earthy. It is safe. I receive much more compliments on this perfume than any other ones I use because it is safer and more "balanced". I agree that this perfume is used by many, so it may not make you "stand out". But it has a great longevity.

Mac_23

I was gifted this for my birthday and i really enjoy it. It is very pretty, and different from what i would usually buy for myself. It is a very romantic, floral, scent. This could for sure be worn every day and be a staple in a collection. Not something i would wear every day (especially at the price) but it is beautiful nonetheless

MissAttitude

Oh how I miss this amazing scent! I was lucky enough to recieve a full bottle as a gift 5 years ago. I still think about it from time to time but it is way too expensive for me. On skin, it was a perfect blend of fresh, sweet, floral and earthy. On hair, it was more citrus and patchouli and on clothes, it was leaning towards the earthy side with flowers. I loved every drop of it. Had great sillage and longevity. One day, I'll buy a bottle, no matter how overhyped and overused it is. There's a reason for its popularity!

dinkleheit

This is a very beautiful fragrance, upon first spray it's a bit too citrus for me. However, as it dries down it turns into an elegant and understated fragrance good for a brunch date. I would categorize this more for the warmer months and day time. It's not in your face or annoying, so it would also be a good office scent, I think.

BikiniSoTeeny

Oh my God, what a disappointment. Screechy clean, cold citrus forward. Frowning, annoyed lady epitome.

evavidal62

I avoided it for years because so many women were wearing it and literally every girl in her 20s and 30s was wearing it when it was first released and for several years after it's release. Reminds me of a line from a 1950's remake of The Women called The Opposite Sex, in which Dolores Gray tells Joan Collins who is in her tub about to put on some perfume. "Oh darling don't wear this perfume you smell it on everyone!". When it's overused, one wants to smell of unique and stand alone scents especially vintage rarities. But now I came around to wearing this. This is a fresh spring time floral. It opens with a sweet orange juice. It's mandarin and bergamot in a light citrus smoothie type of scent. Sweet and with a bright, zesty orange flavor. Along with it comes the orange flower or orange blossom. It has a clean very soapy vibe, like coming out of the shower and smelling fresh with a citrusy kind of soap. The clean and very girly innocent quality is further enhanced by the rest of the florals, namely the rose. The rose is more like rosewater and light and airy and quite pink and pretty. I'm detecting more yellow floral aromas, i.e. the ylang-ylang and mimosa, which make a fine pair. The scent stays fresh and subtle; quite light and could even be used to spray a neck scarf or a blouse. It has a casual but somewhat dressy/formal vibe like a pretty dress is meant to be worn with it, a blouse and skirt. Can be worn at work or the office by a secretary. The dry down stage is a simple vanilla and woodsy aroma. Not as fascinated by the dry down. It smells a touch woodsy and maybe just a little white musk but all the notes in the dry down/base are fixatives holding the citrus and yellow florals in place. It lasts long at over 6 hours on me and has a moderate projection. Overspraying this is a crime. It smells best when applied sparingly and lightly. A beautiful feminine floral for daily wear and can easily be worn by any young woman or older woman who enjoys a sweet citrus-forward fresh yellow floral for the spring and summer months.

Lovaloo

Citrus aldehydes along with a fruity mandarin accord that persists for a long time. The heart notes of orange flower, jasmine, iris, and a soft, pretty, "pink" rose, have been given a dusting of powdered sugar. The base is distinctive and refined for a mass market release. A herbaceous, youthful patchouli note, velvety musks, clean vetiver, vanilla, tonka, sandalwood, amber notes. The signature Chanel DNA is present but subdued.

I see why this is a popular perfume. It has a refreshing buoyancy to it from the well-worked out citrus/clean fruity musk presence, while being warm and sweet from the sugary florals and the base notes. Having said this, it is probably my least liked from Chanel.

It's a shame it has been copied countless times over the past 20 years. Everyone and their mother smells like this. Maybe after the backlash dies down, we can all appreciate Coco Mademoiselle for its innovation. After all, it is respected and loved by a lavender farmer.

Maradox

a very cold citrus, with a musky patchouli that is enjoyable. Serious but not very deep, can be layered but I haven't quite found the match. If this was a color to me, it would be a light green that slowly fades into gray and light brown.

fairycoffins

I got a free sample of this some time ago, and have been holding off on trying it, because I just knew… it’s an iconic fragrance, sure, but this isn’t for me. At 36, this feels too mature for me. On paper the notes don’t sound bad (I especially love patchouli and vanilla), but it’s just too much musk. Soapy, clean, classy, rich grandma is what I get from this. Not my vibe, as an alternative woman who wears a lot of black.

vpace91

My husband doesn't wear fragrances and generally doesn't comment on mine unless I directly ask what he thinks. Coco Mademoiselle is the first fragrance where he actually said "What perfume are you wearing today because I like it!" I've heard men like this one, but I'm not sure why. Anyway I guess the rumors are true! Now *personally*, I prefer the "Intense" flanker, because it just seems smoother, rounder, and sweeter. But both are nice.

Brazilianbadbeech24.

Aye not bad, good to wear when u are going out but don’t spray to much u can kill ppl w this, overall not bad would recommend just not everyday unless u what people to start opening windows and getting instant headaches bec it’s rly strong

miaaa

My grandma was gifted this fragrance by here neighbor and she didn’t like it so she gave it to me. When I put it on my mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa told me I stunk. This is VERY patchouli heavy and I like patchouli but this is just too much.

Liisa7

Well, this is just iconic. I wouldn’t wear this out of the house much, because it’s just not unique anymore, but I can’t help but wear it at home when I want to feel like a rich, put-together and productive woman. Winter is the season for this, in summer it might get very cloying and headache inducing.

preambled

I adore this smell. It was the first scent I tried that I felt really played well on my skin. Beautiful and sophisticated scent.

Moonami

Coco Mademoiselle and also Allure reminds me of when I was just starting my career life and wanted to smell classy and expensive.

Back then I really liked it but now my nose can't take patchouli at all so bye bye Coco Mademoiselle. I had good memories with you but I don't think we'll meet again!

Crys_

Is it that 'sophisticated' feminine fragrances smell like soap, or that the soaps imitate the fragrances? Or is it just that a particular group of smells is heavily associated with a particular sort of woman?
Whatever it is, my first impression of Coco Mademoiselle was 'bougie soap'. Some fresh perfumes end up smelling cheap, but this is more like an artisan botanical soap which surprisingly smells predominantly of citrus (on me) both at the opening and at the dry down, with a pleasant creamy floral smell overtaking in the middle.
I wanted to keep it as my 'nice Chanel evening perfume' but I can't argue with its reputation as an office scent for Proper Young Ladies, so it's more likely to become my standard inoffensive weekday scent.

Update: Now that I've been wearing this for about a month, thought I'd update on general wear. Coco Mademoiselle does not seem to wear well on clothes, which surprised me a little since I'm used to the opposite. It honestly seems to absorb into the fabric and disappear, which is disappointing for me since I have sensitive skin on my upper body and rely on my clothing to carry a noticeable scent (my wrists are for me).
Because of that alone, I'm unlikely to repurchase it. A shame.

deestclair

You have to smell the sillage to appreciate this beauty. It has a spicy coolness usually reserved for men’s fragrances (think Declaration by Cartier) while being most definitely a feminine scent. Ignore the description of which notes it contains. It is a perfect blend that can be worn in all seasons. Can you wear it to the office? That depends on how many perfume haters are in your office. Wear it with confidence!

Subhuman

I, for one, don’t understand the reformulation talk. This was my first real perfume love, the one that struck me like a thunderbolt and kick-started my fragrance obsession, and today’s version smells the same to me as it always has. Abstract warm fruity-peppery-powdery floral musk, gilded with citrus and aldehydes, girded by vetiver and Chanel’s signature Beverly Hills patchouli. It’s fake and shimmery and aggressively peachy, and yet undeniably compelling for all that. It plays at being sophisticated, but it plays a little too well: Coco Mademoiselle somehow is sophisticated, especially compared to nearly every other hit mainstream feminine perfume that’s come since. (I’ve even seen it tarred with the “old lady” brush. Coco Mademoiselle! The very idea of this cartoonishly youthful confection of sugar and spice and everything nice reading as matronly to a particular generation - and gosh, aren’t they vocal about it - makes me feel old and out of touch. I need a nap.)

Yumik

I used to love the scent of Mademoiselle, as it is the first “expensive“ perfume I purchased during college. It just happens that as I grew older, my pheromones has shifted and it just doesn’t smell the same on me as before. Now, I would only wear it during fall/ winter season and during night time. It sits well on skin but not on clothes. Would I buy this again? Maybe not in future, but if I did? It’s most probably because of nostalgia. I think this really fits well on western and European skin.

WhitePetals

Quality drops all the time. My latest bottle, from authorized seller, has no transparent tube in the bottle... it is visible. Doesn't look as cute. I think this will be my last Chanel.

Heathermarie8617

I have a love/hate relationship with Coco Mademoiselle; some days I think that it is the most beautiful fragrance ever, while other days I have to wash it off. On good days I really enjoy the entire "life" of the fragrance from initial spray with all of it's bright and citrus freshness, all the way to the spicy/warm dry down. Bad days...it smells like a citronella candle and/or bug spray. I ended up selling my mostly full bottle but kept a 10 ml for the rare occasion I crave this. Today is one of those "good" days and I almost regret selling my bottle...however, I know this feeling is fleeting. I personally prefer Chance EDT/EDP. I have a feeling this 10 ml vile will last me a long time.

Edit: I will add that this perfume lasts a VERY long time on skin (12+ hours) and DAYS on clothes. I hope I completely come around with this one just for the fact that it lasts so long! There is hope;I used to not like this at all, but now find myself enjoying this on occasion.

kellyrwallis

Classy, fresh, expensive smelling, mature, cold. I’ve gone off this a little recently because it’s so citrusy, however if you don’t mind a strong citrus scent this is perfect. Makes you feel like a sophisticated woman. Lasts for hours and hours.

cinnasnow

I want to love Coco Mademoiselle so badly... but one of the woodsy notes (I assume the vetiver because I love patchouli in other fragrances) ruins it for me. On paper it smells amazing - softer, & feminine. But on my skin, that woodsiness is way too overpowering & becomes nauseating. It doesn't suit me, but I would love smelling it on other people that it does work on. So I give it an ok.

I love chypres on paper, but sadly quite a few don't work on my skin... Maybe it's just my skin chemistry. My chypre ended up being Miss Dior EDT instead. It works with my skin & smells really nice on me.

EuniceMine

I love this! Fresh , perfect amount of florals(I dislike florals, like Gucci bloom or My Way from GA) I love the way this almost smells masculine but not quite because it still has that feminine touch. Is hard to explain. But imo Coco Mademoiselle and Chanel #5 (which have nothing similar) are Gems, liquid gold. Is super expensive, so I try to only use in special occasions 😭 I wish it was more affordable

I like it. It smells like a rich lady, dressed in designer clothes and walking in luxurious high heels. This lady knows how to shine, making others look at her admiringly.

Rating: 8/10, every girl should try it once

MysteriousMidna

Don’t let this scent’s dainty pale pink color fool you; it’s gorgeous, dark, mysterious, complex, and sexy. A deep warm sultry purple is a better color for it. It’s not a safe blind buy if you’re apprehensive about the patchouli, vetiver, and rose, like I was, but I’d still recommend trying it in store or getting a sample. You may be pleasantly surprised like I was. I wish the citrus was a touch more toned down in the beginning but other than that, it's very well balanced. It doesn’t remind me of perfumes older women tend to wear (and using older womens’ preferences as an insult is not it, they're just wearing what was popular when they were younger; our current favorites are gonna smell old-fashioned when we're old). This scent layers extremely well with Flower of Immortality by Kilian, especially if you find CM’s citrus opening so be a little too much on its own. The Oil Perfumery has great dupes if you want to save some money.

I’m also heavily influenced by nostalgia. Bath & Body Works’ Black Amethyst was my late high school scent, and it’s since been discontinued. I’ve recently been looking for a similar scent and a few people recommended CM. Can confirm, they are is 90-95% similar. CM is a little more citrusy, BA was a little more floral, creamy, and syrupy. But CM layered with FOI is more like 98% similar.

odminey

My mom used to have it when I was a child and I absolutely detest this fragrance from the very first minute I felt it until this day. (It has nothing to do with my relationship with my mom, also I like her taste in frargances.)

It's nauseating and headache inducing, no matter how subtle it may be. From the bottle, on skin, on anything. I just can't. Whenever I feel this smell anywhere, it makes me feel like I'm nauseous from menstrual cramps. And sadly for me, many women love it and wear it. I have no idea why my body reacts to it in this way.

This is definitely my most hated fragrance of all time.

Nomen

@Deirdrecb, I hate to be the one to break it down for you, but apparently you got a fake. There's no other explanation to what you described and it's really not uncommon.

worldsatanicglamour

It really don't even hit like that..

Deirdrecb

Based on the notes and creative nose, the house and all the etceteras, I should ADORE this fume, but... why can't I smell a thing???

Additionally, my daughter bought this for me as a birthday present, the security seals and plastic outer wrappers all intact, the bottle was more than half empty. Is this a Chanel issue, or transport, retailer or other problem? She was very disappointed.

I want to love this, and do adore other fumes by this house and nose, but I think my skin gobbles it up leaving not a trace. A bad batch? Possibly

Perfect10Tara

I don't get the citrus top notes! What I do get is a heavenly mix of oriental and jasmine. A lovely musky floral. This is a youthful fragrance. It’s definitely sweet but with not a sickly sweet way. It somehow combines a soft mix of fruity and floral, giving a beautiful clean and gentle feeling. And it's Chanel so it is immediately classy.

mizzhoopz

I’ve tried this and there’s something about that I don’t like. It has a metallic or synthetic smell in it that I can’t put my finger on. Looking at the notes provided, it confuses me even more as to what it could be. Maybe the opopanix or mimosa…??? Either way it was off putting to me. I prefer the original coco over this. This would be beautiful to me if it didn’t have that scent to it.

It's a beautiful masterpiece, but so many people have use it, so it's maybe not so special anymore. Very beautiful, well-blended feminine perfume. I finally got it in my collection last year, I was not sure first, if i shoud get it, becouse so many have it, but I love this fragrance so Im glad i got it finally.

Elegant, pretty and luxurious but for some reason my bodys chemistry makes the drydown a little bit masculine, but not in a bad way att all. Boss-lady scent, I would say, at least at my skin. I have also mix this with chanel n. 5 and men go crazy! So many compliments e.t.c :D

kitkatya

fine! kinda smells like (very nice) boutique soap. it’s not necessarily boring but it is kind of meh. youthful but too clinical and feminine

Dani83

It’s absolutely stunnnig I really love this fragrance and fast becoming my signature scent

Anonomouse

The first words that come to my mind when I think about this scent are feminine, classy, and perfection. Probably my favorite patchouli I've ever smelled. Perfectly balanced. Absolutely beautiful. It's so long lasting too. The only possible cons I can think of are that it's not the best for layering since it's such a strong standalone, the price point, and might be a little too formal for all occasions. The only reason why I don't have it is because my mom made it her signature fragrance first!

mashketova134

My signature is layering this with Armani Si EDP. The result is intoxicating. CM was my signature for years... A gorgeous, elegant, feminine, alluring scent for any occasion.

This is my second time purchasing Coco. I have come to the realization that while this fragrance is bought by many it only smells great on a few. I am not one of the few. On my skin it smells heavy almost like a strong candle. Sadly, this is the scent presentation many of its wears have that isn’t pleasant.

Bergamot, patchouli, and velvetier can be a gamble on many. The nose smells one thing but your body chemistry can make these three notes turn into a strong olfactory battle with a pungent scent lingering. The scent is so aggressive at this point that actually presents as extremely masculine and could have animalistic vibes. However, if sprayed on a man it will turn soft and delicate.

This fragrance is one that deceived because you might smell one thing but to others you smell like a loud pungent plug in or yankee candle.

mekanazekana

When I first smell this beauty I immediately fell in love and that love is still strong like the first day. This is my absolute No 1 perfume. I love it so much it's the best of the best of the best. My signature fragrance. It last long, sillage is just right, yeah it is little bit expensive, but it is Chanel. Since this is really good freshy florally fragrance that last long it is good value.

fyre92

They reformulated this recently. If you see a flammable sign on the bottle on the glass bottle it’s one of the newer ones. It’s more soapy and less vanilla and less smooth and less sweet. It’s coco mad either way but the previous smells like the coco mad intense they’re selling now. It could be purposeful to create more of a contrast of the two available options since folks were complaining

Arieeane

I was gifted this and I don’t like this. It’s old school in a way I don’t enjoy.

luftbahn13

Somehow I am anosmic to this scent. Totally regret the purchase.

Icepeak

If u like citrus smells and sweet and a bit floral this could be for you. I love it, some ppl hate it and it's very individual expirience. However, the silage is quite strong, should be worn 2-3 sprays max...but longevity...unmatched. Only perfume I still smell on my clothes and hair and skin for more than 24h. Might not be for everyone but a damn good value for money for those who like it.

scentedhiro

And it was love at first sniff.

Wearing this makes me feel so good about myself, something about its more mature feel makes me feel like I'm *that b*tch*. It starts with a very loud and proud citrus that then dries down into a cozy patchouli scent. It's not like a dirty patchouli either, the citrus and vanilla really help to tone it down and make it something super wearable. It is absolutely a loud scent however, one that will project very far, and last quite a while.

Overall, 9/10, absolutely love this one so so much.

babypong

Love this ! It’s fresh and pleasant. The notes that come out to me are patchouli, and strong yellow florals. It’s less complex and interesting than some other perfumes, but I think this is a great people pleaser without being simple, plain or boring. It’s a scent I can imagine wearing all day and being happier because of it. Will not be adding it to my collection only because it’s not that interesting to me and I’m not interested in a yellow floral type scent right now.

Ca3na

Fresh, citrussy floral. To me, Coco Mademoiselle is a "clean girl", I've got my stuff together or "that girl" fragrance, she's well dressed, she's classy but it comes naturally, she hasn't tried too hard.
I do agree that it can smell different at different times, less citrus & more floral, sometimes metallic, I don't know why, maybe depending on the season.
Office safe, compliment getter, most people seem to like it. I think its signature scent worthy.

sluththth

It's citrus, jasmine and white musk on me.

Emoody

I remember when I and my female cousin were 10 years old and couldn’t afford Chanel, we would go to a perfume store, get one of the staffs to spray coco mademoiselle on tester papers for us and we would put them in our phone cases and smell it whenever we want to. Now we have over 70 perfumes and coco mademoiselle is not really our cup of tea anymore, but we would always repurchase it whenever we run out of it just for the Nostalgia.

Comarose

I have worn this fragrance the longest (15 years) and the most, so I suppose it is a signature scent. I like how each product has slightly different notes (parfum, EDT, body spray, body oil, body cream), so it layers intelligently.
The Intense and Privee versions have cheaper vanilla overtones and no sillage.
Also COCO Mademoiselle smells different throughout the month, sometimes citrus is emphasised, sometimes headier vanilla notes. As other have commented, it has a nice balance of opposites in that sense. A great fragrance for a Libran actually.

LunarPhobia

If I were to describe this fragrance in 1 word it'd be "soft". I get notes of citrus, floral and powder. Very clean and crowd-pleasing scent. I'd call it a safe blind buy if not for the price tag.

saho93

While this is not my scent profile preference, it is quite lovely and smells luxe. I do get fairly strong patchouli, a bit more than I would have liked. It is sweet but not cloying.

I find that this EDP to be puzzlingly weak, however. I wonder if the reformulation made it so.

Overall, classy and elegant.

Luckycharm

Finally I tried this famous perfume!
What can I say… I’m so surprised to see so many orange ingredients in it because I don’t feel any on me. Rather, the opening smells like wild berries to me.. very interesting… then within an hour or two it transfers into a nice patchouli-Jasmine smell mixed with pink flowers. Very pretty and may I say, expensive smell! I def see this on girls 25+ dressed up casually but feminine (no sportswear), and who know what they want from life. This can we worn as an everyday smell and for evening events, I think it’s very universal. As a brief description, it’s sensual, expensive, elegant, classy, strong, pink, fruity-flowery and beautiful. I definitely understand the hype and will be trying out on myself to see if I would want to purchase a big bottle

Rizaibb

I am in love with this perfume. For 2 years, I've been searching for my signature scent and I've spent a lot on unsuccessful blind buys. I know this is highly popular and I didn't want my signature scent to be too mainstream but I totally understand why this is a cult-fave. I'm choosing this. This is my chanel.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

To me, Coco Mademoiselle is a floral fruitchouli that packs a fair amount of a punch and smells fairly mature and musty like most of Chanel's perfumes do.

It is very citrusy at the start with the orange, mandarin orange and bergamot and I get a hint of white floral from the orange blossom. This part of the fragrance was too citrusy for my personal tastes, but this part of Coco Mademoiselle only lasted for about 90 minutes or so.

In the heart notes I smell a musty and powdery rose and a dirty smelling ylang ylang and not much else. I don't get any of the mimosa or the jasmine unfortunately, which I think would have softened and sweetened things up and made this fragrance more approachable smelling.

In the drydown I get the powdery musk, the dusty and woody vetiver, a resinous oppoponax and a massive and a very earthy and pungent pathouli. This is my least favorite part of the fragrance and the patchouli makes Coco Mademoiselle a patchouli bomb. I unfortunately smell a lot of the patchouli in the heart notes too.

I'd say this is still a very feminine and classic smelling perfume though and that it is one of the better Chanel's. I could imagine an older woman in a pale pink Chanel suit and a string of pearls wearing this to her board meeting and then wearing this with a pale pink satin gown to a ball. It's very old world smelling.

This perfume had a quite a large sillage on me and it lasted for 8 ½ hours straight on my skin, so I think that women get their value for money if they buy this fragrance for sure. The bottle is also really pretty and pink.

All in all, not bad and I'd give Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel a respectable 7/10 that one certainly wouldn't put their nose up at. I just don't think that I would be rushing out and getting a full bottle again anytime soon. I owned it once in the past and I tired of it real quickly. I also didn't like everyone else owning this perfume and wearing it as well. Very oversaturated and not unique anymore.

Eve_evolution

Smells like a safe buy, a crowd pleaser, not too-anything, everything balanced and politely content.
I can’t smell any individual notes, so well blended. A kind of 50year old woman who dresses like a 35year old could be wearing this.

Alexchanel22

Coco Mademoiselle is my ultimate fragrance of choice, and here's why it captivates me. With just one or two spritzes, it effortlessly lasts throughout the day. resulting in a surprisingly fresh and feminine fragrance with a unique character. This perfume embodies duality, representing a person who is both mischievous and provocative, independent yet endearing, and unafraid to reinvent themselves freely.

celestial

Coco Mademoiselle smells like something very musty, musky, suffocating and old to my nose. I can't detect any citrus or flowers, and I really wish I could smell the beautiful scent described in the other reviews. Fragrances are a subjective experience, and I find Coco Mademoiselle quite unpleasant. I used to own Coco Mademoiselle Intense, which is smoother and nicer.

tanasha

Reminds me a lot of Miss Dior Cherie (at least the 2011 version which I still have a bottle of to compare to). More similar to MDC than the current Miss Dior is. I loved both versions of MDC and this is a solid alternative.

Longevity is not great when sprayed on skin. I get maybe a few hours before it starts to wear really close to the skin. The performance could be better for the price tag.

vsmr

Smells like something I would love to wear when I’m 40 and put together, but not yet.

Frogopolis

I was a young woman when this fragrance debuted in 2001. I couldn’t afford it then, but I worked downtown and would walk through Macy’s just to sniff this heavenly pink citrus/vanilla/patchouli wunderkind. It was a unique and strikingly “different” scent in 2001... nothing remotely like it had been created yet.

Around 2009 I finally sprang for a bottle of the EDP, followed by the EDT. I gave both bottles fair usage, but then I just became fatigued by this scent. And I still am.

Intellectually, I still think this is a fabulous perfume. It’s structurally perfect, and it just plain smells great. But, it feels dated and overplayed to me now. It’s annoying, because so many women have worn this thing to death that it wrecked CM for me.
When I think of applying it, I just think, “that was then, this is now,” and choose something else.

lauravladelena

It smells like a powdered rose. It is definitely for a woman, not a girl, has a very mature presence. Honestly, pretty avarage and simple

katerina.fel

I hesitated writing a review. I feel like everything has already been said. I wore through almost an entire 50mL bottle. The fragrance is ICONIC. I would have finished it if off it weren’t for today’s little metro experience.

After a week of some serious perfume testing, my nose got really tired and I just couldn’t smell anything anymore. I was heading out and I don’t know what got into me, but instead of spraying CM three times, as I usually do, I sprayed it SIX TIMES just to be able to smell anything.

I know from past that this fragrance is rather strong for normal people. You know.. for people who don’t smell new things daily and are sporadic with their fragrance use. Part of my family is those people, so it’s thanks to them that I know if a fragrance is strong or barely there.

Back to the story.. I got into the metro. I sat. An older man sat next to me. That poor guy started sneezing heavily, then he gave me the deadliest look ever and walked out. He even made that fake gaging noise. I don’t know what to say other than that I am deeply embarrassed.

I noticed some people saying that the fragrance is weak or weakER than what it used to be. I don’t know anything about that. Just be mindful of the fact that it MAY BE a weak fragrance for us fragheads, but for the average Joe CM will come off as a strong one because of that STRONG CITRUS NOTE.

A couple of hours later today I got into the metro again omw back. The metro smelled like peepee and poopoo.
So….. yeah…. classic.

I will now wear the Intense version exclusively. It is not that sharp. It’s a little more sweet and overall just more wearable than the original. Whenever I smell a lady walk past me wearing any of the CM, I am always very pleased. It is a strong strong like, but not a love and I won’t purchase another bottle. I actually gave the tiny bit I have to my mom after today’s faux pas.

anelia_bg

there’s something not ok with me and this one, it stays only 1-2 hours on me, I have many Chanel fragrances and this one is the weakest … how some people say it stays all day …

kristina_m

This scent is extremely unique which is why I rate it a 10/10. It's a beautiful powdery musk that I started wearing in the mid-to-late 2000s, so it reminds me of my 20s... when I smell it, I remember the outfits I used to wear which smelled like this for days. It is super strong and now I prefer lighter scents. Unfortunately, my latest bottle went rancid super quickly and the cost is outrageously and ridiculously expensive.

stillalive

This is a lot lighter and more citrusy than I was expecting! It smells neutral and professional, with a little bit of an old school Suave clarifying shampoo note to keep it grounded. I live in Central FL and I could see myself wearing this year-round to the office or to get my hair done.

Catherinelaurel

I love this perfume, don’t get me wrong. It was one of my first “real” luxury perfumes as a young woman (I was given this and Mugler’s Angel when I turned 18). However, even as I am in my mid thirties now I feel like mademoiselle is too matronly on me.

iheomagu

Been looking for a signature scent for a pretty long time. Tried to use YSL Libre but it wasn’t giving. Tried Giorgio Armani’s My Way, love it but the dry down turns sweet on me. Wanted something flora to make me feel pretty feminine. Been looking at Coco Mademoiselle for a while and decided to bite the bullet. I think I have found it. I don’t know if it’s the Tonka, jasmine, musk, ylang-ylang, or just the vanilla but it’s perfect for me. It doesn’t smell vintage at all. I can see why it’s a classic. With a scent profile like that, hard to imagine generations won’t fall in love with it.

reusch210

I smelled the new updated version of Chance Fraiche the other day and was so surprised how stripped down it was that I then smelled everything else at the Chanel counter - Coco Mademoiselle and the original Chance were nothing like they used to be - they used to be so so strong with a huge impression. At least Coco and No. 5 seem almost faithful to the original - they know the audience that wears those would notice immediately if they messed with it.

gtabasso

Goes on very sweet and fruity with lots of depth. Tonka, orange blossom, musk, patchouli with a little bergamot in the top. Musk should be top on this list. In the drydown it is a musk bomb. Very nice.

nisarsarah9

Gorgeous floral scent. Suitable for all occasions. Smells classy and elegant. I love this one so much. I always have a bottle of this in my fragrance collection. Can never let this one go!!

WitchQueen

For me this only works on the coldest nights of the year, otherwise it turns into a patchouli bomb on my skin.

Kpeachy

I was gifted this bottle in 2015 by my ex bf’s mom. I wasn’t quite keen on it and just left it sitting in my room.

I wore it recently again in Summer 2023 and I was pleasantly surprised. I love the citrusy opening and enjoy the musk it leaves on my skin. Office friendly and feels elegant in it.
Surprised how it hasn’t changed after having it for 8-9 years. Quality of Chanel fragrances are amazing.

C0nfust1c@te

Beautiful, classy and elegant, I've been wearing this for years. The dry down is a soft, spicy floral with the patchouli hovering in the background. I always have a bottle on my dressing table ❤️

alternateu

Coco Mademoiselle, like most Chanels for me, lasts better on clothes and paper than on skin or hair. Not sure why - I know that’s the case for most perfumes but the difference is drastic in Chanel’s case - a matter of 1 to 2 hours on skin versus up to 12 hours on clothes. Regardless, this perfume is iconic.
I like patchouli - absolutely LOVE the way Chanel does their patchouli, classy, sexy, earthy and warm. Coco Mademoiselle for me is a bright, sweet citrus, with a vague patchouli concept in the base. It’s feminine, classy, and I can see why it appeals to the masculine nose. Unfortunately, for me, it feels young and too flirty, there’s not enough patchouli for my liking, and it’s too sweet in the opening. It’s not my vibe personally, but very impressive and a pretty “cute” perfume, the lasting power far exceeds any of my other Chanels.
I love Chanel - I think their perfume range is amazing, iconic, classy and very luxurious. Coco Mademoiselle feels just a little “girlish” for me. Even the so-called “more youthful” flanker of Chanel No 5, the L’eau, smells more polished and grown up IMO. I can’t hate it, CM is actually pretty pleasant and very iconic, but I wouldn’t purchase a bottle for myself.

Scent: 7/10
Longevity: Full day at work on clothes
Projection: Strong

Hanan bazaza

Queen of perfumes.. luxurious smell make me feel like i am in a concert in the queen castle hahaha i just have one problem with the patchouli in it that my nose and head can’t handle it ..

Valentine_

Coco Mademoiselle is a good fragrance It give me fresh, elegant vibes also long lasting.İf perfume was a person, she would be like a sophisticated lady with the self-confident look. The only downside is not for everyday use .İt would get easy to bored and unfortunately anyone use that fragrance .İt lovely fragrance
except this cons,enjoy <3

PascalSimon

On me this smells mainly of strong patchouli, the sharpness of which is somewhat softened by rose and vanilla notes and subdued by the earthy note of vetiver. In addition, it has a sparkling and crisp note in which I can smell a bit of bergamot (aldehydes?). The fragrance is classy, elegant, serious, demanding and uncompromising, and that's why I like it. I use it as a mood booster on challenging business days.

imene boudjlida

very elegant sophisticated strong lady vibes
i love it a lot

Snoes

I am so sorry , but I don t like this Chanel scent anymore, and I am almost ashamed now that I ones liked it as a Chanel.
To me it seems Jaques Polge had to make a growdpleaser under enormous commercial pressure and there was not much room left for his outstanding artistic qualities.
And he made an oké scent, not bad at all ...... but not a Chanel! and certainly not a COCO!
At least that s my opinion.

h149

It’s a powersuit, important meeting, limousine and five star hotel kind of frag. The patchouli helps take the screech out of those citrus and floral notes that can otherwise be a bit too much, and gives it a sophisticated, more unisex quality. I find it very cologne-like in a passing whiff from arms length; the more feminine aspects of the fragrance hide near the skin and are the first to dissipate, leaving behind a sort of warm smokiness that I can only think to describe as “fantasy cigarette.” Like… if it were possible to make cigarettes that actually smell good, they’d smell like the drydown of Coco Mademoiselle.

Overall she’s admirable but icy, unconcerned with sex appeal. A little bit tough, even. It’s strictly business.

aa:]05

To me this is such a pretty and classy fragrance, I had a dupe which made me want the real thing. It’s very citrusy yet I wouldn’t say it’s a summer fragrance at all, I’d say it’s more suited to cooler weather due to the middle and base notes which warms the scent up a little, perfect for spring and day time wear! I’ve heard that it’s massively over worn, but I haven’t smelt this on many people. It might just be my skin chemistry but this doesn’t project very much on me, on my clothes it does but I don’t think it projects heavily for any more than about an hour. The dry down on clothes is just👌Lovely. The only complaint it have is that it’s a liiiittle bit overpriced I think for what it is but then again it’s Chanel

Longevity- 7/10 (on skin not so long but on clothes yesssss)
Sillage- 4.5/10
Scent- 9/10 (classic)

I think this scent could be worn by most at least for special occasions, I don’t you can go wrong, smells like a classy woman

Francaise48

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum is my go-to fragrance for all occasions, year round. It's sophisticated and feminine, but not sweet. And the body lotion, body creme, and bar soap are perfect complements!

GoldenState

As a guy I can say it smells really good on girls, really a lovely scent. I don’t find it being worn by that many girls so for me its great

kawars5

Will always love this perfume 🙌 My mom first introduced me to it. It was like love at first “smell” 😁 Many would agree that the longevity is insane and the compliments don’t stop.

chyan

I feel like I am one of few people who don't like this perfume. I keep trying this over and over in department stores and have received so many random samples of this. There is just something so offputting about its generic, synthetic musk and florals. I love Chanel and sad it is a Chanel perfume or that it is inspired by the beautiful and incomparable original Coco. It is hard to believe they were both made by Jacques Polge. It smells like any number of fruity musk scents of the 90's or early 2000's— like Miss Dior Cherie which I dislike even more, and Ralph Lauren Notorious which I had and wore , even though I hated it and am almost throwing up now thinking about it.

Melody Valentine

I've tried this perfume loads of times over the years and never really liked it enough to want it. I've always been into gourmands but then I went through a phase of loving old skool, classics, but I still never got into CM. I used to find it just meh and old fashioned. Even though I love a good "granny" perfume, there was just something about this one I didn't like. Probably the citrus. Recently got back into gourmands with a vengeance, so this wasn't on my radar at all.

Today I popped into this little shop in my town that sells Milton Lloyd perfumes to buy a back up of the Tom Ford Black Orchid dupe, Night Flower (Great perfume BTW) and they were out of it till next week so I sprayed the Coco Mademoiselle one on my hand, smelled it and thought yeah, smells exactly like it but I'm still not a fan, left the shop and walked home.

By the time I was half way home I could smell a gorgeous smell coming from my hand. It's a boiling hot day and the heat made this smell so much better than it'd ever smelled before, and it was only a cheap clone. I thought no way that's the Coco Mademoiselle dupe, CM doesn't smell that nice?!

I lifted my hand to my nose and it just smelled exactly like I remembered CM except this time I really loved it. I wish I'd bought a bottle and will when I go back for the other one. I'm not a fan of citrus in general but the patchouli is the most noticeable to me and it's just sweet enough to make it girly enough for me. The sillage is so much nicer than just smelling it up close.

So yeah, I do like CM now, even if it took years and an unplanned wearing of a dupe to realise it. It might be very common and not unique, depending on where you live, but I wouldn't call it basic. I can think of 10 other perfumes that loads of people wear that aren't as nice, classy or expensive smelling. I never thought I'd ever buy a bottle of this and I'll definitely try out the dupe for a while first but I think I might end up getting a bottle.

gjeanba5

Try Strawberry Pound Cake (Bath & Body Works) with Coco Mademoiselle! Thank me later 😁

vnoxnoctis

god, this is so good. you could use this year-round, it's just classy as hell. it's fresh and floral but still creamy and sweet, and the patchouli grounds the scent without being screechy. it projects well but it's still not a beast-mode performer, it's really the kind of fragrance you could wear for just about anything without it being annoying. the longevity is great too.

Barbara476

Round 2010 I’ve owned a few bottles of Coco Mademoiselle. Edt and afterwards edp.
Now I can’t stand it anymore. Got me old lady vibes.

Scentologist11

Perfumes are a very close and strong connection between memories.

Some time ago, one of my young relatives died, whose signature perfume was this perfect piece of art!

We have been closely connected since childhood - she was like a sister to me for minimum half of my childhood!

On her skin with her gentle character, this was more than written on the skin literally!

When we helped relatives clean up her belongings, I got it from her parents as a memory from her, because they know how much perfumes and connection with her mean to me!

Now many times I just open the perfume cap - smell it - and instantly return to vivid pictures, events and memories - when she was still with us and everything was different! 😢

This perfume will forever belong as her signature and eternal memory of her!

It's not yet time to meet again - No matter where you are today - with your presence in their company, it's definitely better for them there with you - I can easily imagine that it still smells as gently and perfectly as Chanel M there!

See ya one day again…

alice_w

This is my first Chanel perfume and I like it. I find it warm and fresh at the same time. The scent is complicated and classy. It's classic and suits nearly all sorts of occasions in my opinion.

BrittXo

Coco mademoiselle, you either love her or hate her. We LOVE her over here. She screams classy boss woman holding her Starbucks in one hand, laptop bag in the other while walking down the busy city street. The longevity is amazing, and you will get compliments wearing this. I could never not have coco mademoiselle in my collection. She’s a staple.

MareaCamacho

LOVED this upon first spray HOWEVER
the patchouli at the drydown hates me- all I can smell out of both this original and the intense is that pinesol smell- the pine scent which I absolutely hate even in the cleaner itself ..it's very headache inducing and it's definitely a scrubber for me.

Cadavette

I miss having this perfume. It was a good scent to wear everyday.

lavendercandygirl

This perfume lasts for so long. I sprayed 4 times on just my forearms, and it was on me for 8 hours straight. It did get less intense by the end of the day, but when I went to bed (which was at like 1 AM mind you) I STILL smelled like this perfume. I like the scent, though I am not normally a fan of this category of scents. If you want something that lasts a really long time, Mademoiselle will do the job.

otterfaces

Got a sample vial of this- really beautiful fragrance… until it dried down, and then on my skin it smelled (strongly) of grandma perfume. I think it's the patchouli?

BritneyPerfume4Eva

I've been dying to purchase this for ages. 'Coco Mademoiselle' sounds like the height of feminine gorgeousness and luxury. Sadly, upon trying, I found myself thinking "THIS is the famous Coco Mademoiselle?"

It smells like fancy hotels. It's very nice - but that's it. Like the fanciest hotel soap. It doesn't make me think of Paris or make me feel beautiful. It's not sexy like YSL's Black Opium, fun like Moschino's Pink Bouquet or intriguing like La Petite Robe Noir. The bottle isn't even as pretty IRL.

I wanted to love it so badly :( I don't regret buying it, though. Just not a repurchase for me. I'll try Gabrielle next time.

JayBeez

This was my wife's signature scent for years, and I really grew to love it. So much so that I purchased a 200 ml bottle for her for Christmas in hopes of encouraging it to continue to be her "daily driver". Sadly, not long after she sampled and fell in love with Gabrielle Essence so the Coco Mademoiselle now sits on her perfume shelf collecting dust.
Not wanting to waste a good perfume, I now wear it on occasion, but only around the house. It smells different on me than my wife. Far less floral and fruity and I detect mostly Jasmine and Patchouli when wearing it.
At the end of the day, I wear some scents for me and some for my wife. This one is for me and will remain so for a long time.

_NicoleNonya

I have more than 500 scents in total. I'm a huge fan of attar oils. For some reason, I've been craving scents with patchouli which is unlike me. I gravitate towards fresh scents.

In years prior, I've found Chanel to be too heavy. It's the height of summer in Fl, 2023 formulation : Coco Mad starts off with a blast of citrus so potent, you can taste it. It sort of lingers in the back of the throat for a while as your ole factory nerve gets used to the scent. The back of my throat started to water, the bergamot & orange is most pronounced. I initially was reminded of Ange Ou Demon Le Secret which I adore. Sadly, Ange Ou Demon's longevity is horrible.

The first comparison which comes to mind is Frivole EDT/EDP which is often compared to Coco Mad, except Fragronard is more photo realistic. Frivole isn't a dupe by any stretch.

Patchouli in general tends to be more pronounced and earthy. The patchouli in Coco Mad is well balanced in the new formulation, I can see how in previous decades Coco Mad would have been sharper and deeper.

During the dry down stage, the nectar's sweetness blooms from the jasmine, rose, and ylang ylang balancing the patchouli, the mimosa lends an ever so slight powdery accord to my nose which is unlisted. Fortunately, the powdery accord is slight since I tend to dislike powdery scents especially with the Florida humidity. I can't be the only one picking up an ever so slight sweet banana smell ylang ylang is famous for. The citrus notes begin playing a slight supportive role every so often taking a back seat within 45 minutes.

The scent lingers with a musky, floral, vanilla for the next 8 hours, if you move around generating body heat, I pick up whiffs of floral sweetness with breeze. The aroma differs depending on whether or not you're in the heat or a/c.

I'm truly surprised how much I enjoy this formulation compared to a 2019. sample which I used in a winter month. I remember the patchouli was offensive back then.

I ended up purchasing the lotion + deodorant as I know it'll pair well with Frivole.

While Coco Mad is considered a cliché perfume, everyone's body chemistry is different, weather and how one layers a scent makes all the difference. The performance Chanel offers with Coco Mad is impressive & they must have done something right to get me to pay $120 for a lotion + deodorant. My youngest daughter told me I smell like a candle. She has well over 200 frags and gravitates more to gourmands. I can see this scent is more on the mature side. 😍

Coco Mad = heavy like, it's called a crowd pleasure for a reason & Chanel managed to capture me with this scent. 💋

I tried it at the store 24 hrs ago and I can still smell it on my wrist even after trying washing it off. It smells good but after a few hours it started really bothering me, it’s just too strong and cloying, might be the patchouli, I’ve noticed I can’t stand perfumes with patchouli, I really wanted to like it…

Msala140

Beautiful, classic scent . I think this is a very classy lady scent , but known and worn by everyone so you won’t be unique wearing this.

The opening is super citrusy and sweet but balanced . Then followed by the rose and patchouli. I can smell it on my skin for like 12 hours and on my clothes even longer. It also projects really well.

It’s such a lovely scent

chiaraherself

will make you feel like keira knightley, 10/10 slay

lucyinthesky24_7

this perfume makes me happy...like i want to dance....im 61 btw..just smells like sunshine...but yeah i love it

Palominos27

Classic and timeless my husband loves this one! Will always have a bottle Mademoiselle in my perfume wardrobe..i wear in autumn 🍂

ohmydarlingcats

I DID NOT want to do it - but I do. I love this fragrance. :”) and yes - I’m ashamed of myself.

imnogood

I LOVE this perfume. When I first smelled it in Paris 10-15 years ago, i immediatelly bought it and it was my favorite ever since. I remember the first spray, it felt so harsh, almost metallic yet very charming and lovely, and it stayed on my skin and scarf for 2 days. That first bottle was amazing. Now i have 200ml of Intense version and it fells like it has been dumbed down a lot. I still like it but it's not nearly as vibrant as it was. I'm thinking of getting an original version because i love it so much, but i heard that it's also not the same anymore. It's a shame they reformulate great fragrances like that.

mbetserai

For the life of me I don't get it and I love orange blossom fragrances. This smells sour as vinegar to me. I agree with the comment you either love this fragrance or hate it. I hate it. I mean a strong dislike. It is neither feminine or soft to me.

RoxannaVonD

I got this fragrance for my birthday. This is a very classic, sophisticated, luxurious scent. On my skin it smells like a soapy, slightly fruity bouquet of flowers with a hint of patchouli. The citrus notes are nicely blended with the floral notes. Overall a sweet and tart fragrance. I would recommend it for anyone who likes a good smelling classic!

olmgirl

i was expecting to HATE this because i am not into citrus florals and chanel has a reputation in my mind of being not my vibe at all and i almost didn’t try it out, but i actually think it is sooo lovely. it’s soft and classic and i’ve probably smelled it a hundred times, but when not overdone, it’s just pleasant. reminds me of an older woman who you don’t see often, but her happiness is infectious and always puts you in a good mood. the fresh clean earthiness of summer rain with the warmth of a familiar hug. maybe it is popular and a bit generic at this point but it really is nicely done.

KateAnette

Patchouli is a difficult note for me. It's supposed to be a cold weather note, but I've discovered that it usually works best on me in warm weather. In the winter the patch in Mademoiselle overwhelms all other notes, and I never got the reviews of "citrusy and clean".
Now it's summer, warm and rainy, and what a different experience! It sure is clean, soapy and citrusy now, the patch leads only a supporting role, and I actually like it.
So moving the bottle over to my warm weather stash :)

meowjaz

i thought all scents from chanel were awful, too strong and aldehydic - coco mademoiselle proved me wrong!

a beautifully floral and fruity sophisticated concoction <3

meganlamode

I’m visiting my in-laws and have been sneaking some sniffs of the fragrances in their collection. I always thought I hated Chanel, and that they produced scents that were too strong for my liking - but after coming upon Coco Mademoiselle today in the cabinet, I realize I’ve been mistaken. It’s the beginning of June, but I was transported to Christmastime when I took the cap off of this pink bottle. Maybe my MIL has worn it before around the holidays? But it also smells like shopping for Christmas presents. I enjoy the rose and jasmine here, as I usually love those florals. Coco Mademoiselle may have a bit too much patchouli for me, and maybe it is a bit too strong to become a bottle in my collection, but it is also a comforting hug, a warm scarf, or the joy of seeing someone else’s smile.

LanaDelSlay

Ive been wearing this lately after a shower and it's honestly so nice, soft, fruity floral. everyone will like it, no one can say u smell bad, inoffensive and an everyday scent. not headache inducing as well. good mix between fruits and florals

cleanirene

Coco Mademoiselle is a lovely and complex fragrance that works for any occasion, in both warm and cold weather! It’s warm yet fresh while sophisticated and confident. It’s been my signature scent for a decade and my boyfriend adores it too.

katherina.1

I just want to share a layering combination that includes Coco Mademoiselle, that will make you smell like you’re wearing Louis Vuitton Attrape-Rêves.

First start off with PDM Delina. Then Coco Mademoiselle and finish with Burberry her. Smells just like it😍

aesthetic_k

This will be my second review for coco mademoiselle because i went to the mall and sprayed the tester on my arm for no reason (lol) but this makes me realize that chanel reformulated my absolute favorite perfume 🥲😭 the new version is lighter, sweeter, and more childish compared to my bottle from 2017 which was deeper and more mature 💗 Citrus is very dominant instead of patchouli in this new version and the dry down is so syrupy and sickly sweet to the point that it reminds me of v&r flowerbomb which i dislike 😕 To me the new coco mademoiselle lacks the classy character it used to have and fully become a mainstream perfume that is unremarkable. I always said coco mademoiselle will be a perfume i’d repurchase but it is unlikely right now with this new version 💔

Evelyn Elizabeth

This fragrance is a heavy citrus, rose, and patchouli scent. If you do not like heavy scents, this one is not for you. I, however, really do like this fragrance. It starts off being extremely citrusy with a little bit of rose on my skin, but after about two or so hours, the citrus moves back a little and the rose and patchouli come forth. It lasts a long time on me. For example, if I were to not take a shower the night I am wearing it I will smell it fairly on me the next day. It truly is a powerhouse of a fragrance. The only beef I have with this is the fact that it’s very popular meaning a lot of women own and wear this, and it is by no means a unique fragrance. It is a classic and I love it. I would recommend if you’re not looking for a unique fragrance.

astralmonad870

It seems to get stronger on the drydown, with an apple note I get from the rose and orange blossom.

smellslikecoffee

Received a free sample. Tried it on my skin. The first 10 seconds are gorgeous. But after that, it's definitively not my scent. Too cold, too distant, not enough base to my taste. There is some warmth somewhere. But it's hidden far, far away. Overgrown my roses and other flowers. And hints of household spray. Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella at the same time. I really wanted to like it, but I don't.

Laeric

Gorgeous! Wonderful woman’s scent! Sure, it’s worn a lot. That’s because it’s fantastic! Sweet, floral, mildly fruity. A fantasy garden! Mass appeal, will definitely get noticed and get compliments.

ssinai

This one had me stumped.
I had done all sorts of those (probably silly) online fragrance quizzes that are meant to match you to your ideal fragrance. This came up as one of the top selections for me. So when I saw it in the store I tried it on myself and a testing card. In fact I tested it on myself on two occasions and well… I hated it. Not even just meh but something just smelt really off to me - I don’t know what it is but I’m glad I didn’t blind buy.

TessaG

I steered clear of Chanel my whole life after once trying Chanel No. 5, and wondering what the hype was about - I hated it! It smelled like baby powder. So I had a mini bottle of Coco Mademoiselle, and God knows why I decided to actually try it, but I guess I got curious. Oh my goodness. This is an incredible fragrance. Wearing it for the first time, all I really got was soft rose and a touch of musk that just worked - and I'm not a big musk lover. After having more time with it on my skin over the past few days, I started to make out the DNA. I should also mention how much I HATE Patchouli. But now, I get the rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, white musk, pathcouli, vanilla, and tonka bean...I just don't the citruses, but I am pretty much anosmic to a lot of citruses. As a gourmand girl who normally hates pretty much everything in Coco Mademoiselle, I can tell you, if you haven't tried this one, I strongly recommend trying. It truly is a timeless classic.

verzosa

I bought this a few months ago because I could not resist the packaging and the hype. I've owned the EDT years ago and loved it, but I find the EDP much more complex. People have said this shines beautifully in warm weather and I agree. When I first bought this I thought that this was more of a fragrance for the colder months, but as I sit here and break it out on this warm spring day, to me it works much better in warmer weather. In the colder weather I don't find that is develops very much, which isn't a bad thing!

Today it opens with a strong grapefruit smell, but settles down with a citrus blossom.

I am not one to buy niche perfumes I typically gravitate to popular perfumes and before buying this I did a lot of research and from what I've grasped most people said this is worn by many women. I've smelt it in passing on other women twice since the purchase. Popularity of a perfume usually doesn't bother me, but I find that I wear it at home for personal enjoyment considering how dense and yet absolutely progressive and developmental it is.

I can't say that I will buy it again after I finish this bottle (I'm sure I'll have it for a while) it's just not me, but I find this scent very pretty. Everything about it is perfect to me from the longevity (not too long or short), balance of notes and sillage.

Coco Mademoiselle is bold, elegant, feminine with an edge, smells expensive, rosey, citrusy, a little bit earthy. She is the woman that looks powerfull yet soft, a feminine accomplished woman. A headturner. The IT girl that everyone either wants or wants to be. She's really expressive but also has a mysterious side that intrigues you. Her bottle fits her essence very well.

scarlett.angel

Funny how scent changes, depending on mood
skin chemistry, and temperature. Smells like orange creamsicle powdery goodness in cold weather, spritzed sparingly onto a black sweater. Very comforting and even my ex said "you smell good" despite wearing it several times before 🍊🍧🧡

imnogood

I currently have the Intense and reallly miss the old original version, my first bottle was so perfect, extremely long lasting to the point that it stayed on my scarf even after i washed it.. :OO i heard that after the release of Intense the original version went downhill but i'm not sure. Definitely will buy another bottle after i finish my 200ml of intense :D I know this is a super popular and overdone scent but at this point i don't care, it's just too good.

charmims

This smells like something my old gay uncle wore a lot. I remember wanting to roll down the car windows whenever we were driving him around because this scent is just too heavy and headache-inducing.

lessthanzero

Boozy fruity floral with pleasing patchouli base. Common, yes, but also sexy.

Julmatee

Smells soapy on me, very floral and powdery. A bit artificial. Im not a fan of florals, so I dont really reach for this one. Gets me compliments. Classy, but not rich. Def for ages 30+.

blondemelancholic

I admit it, I had been kicking and screaming against Chanel perfumes for the longest time, more or less because the elitism from fans and my gawking at its price point. But a job change and several pay bumps later, I finally bit the bullet after an incredible airport test with Coco Mademoiselle, and I have to admit that this is worth every word of its hype. What a gorgeous, effortlessly elegant and downright pretty perfume! I could envision this on anyone from their young 20s to young at heart at any age, dressed chic, strolling past flower shops and antique bookstores. An absolute treat, and suitably long-lasting. I recommend this to anyone -- this restored my hope in fruity florals.

cinnasnow

I liked it on the scent card - it smelled kind of chic, youthful, complex. But on my skin it immediately gave off those "old lady" smells. I also hate No5 for the same reason. They are both very familiar in a way I really hate, I think I associate the aldehydic smells with someone from childhood that I didn't like, and now they are forever ruined for me. Chanel's newer perfume, Gabrielle, is very nice though. It has the same chic vibe but without the "old lady."

perfumeandprosecco

Wanted to make a review since this is my signature scent. This is the one scent that I will just sniff to get rid of stress lmao. There's a reason why "everyone" wears this.
It has this nostalgic quality that I don't think any other perfume has. It reminds me of walking in Manhattan stores during Christmas time and Rockefeller center. It has a very elegant but youthful smell. Someone described it as a "sexy lawyer scent" and I couldn't agree more. You'll smell like you got money to spend (lol not me but it's motivating). Whenever I want to feel put together, I spray this on. Btw- only spray it once. It's pretty strong and lasts long too!

Other notes:
It goes well with leather jackets and cozy sweaters :)
Fall/winter scent. Great for fancy restaurant dinners at night.
Dating wise, you'll be able to cop any finance bro hahah

Serafim74

It does not resemble anything it used to be, unfortunately. I love the EDT, and only liked EDP. Couple of days ago I smelled it again after several years and was so disappointed.
My EDT is several years old now, and I'm only hoping when I go for repurchasing I do not get the same unpleasant surprise as with EDT. Such a shame.

Icarel

This perfume for my nose has a lot of character and it represents someone/something with a chic charisma and a confident presence. It's a smell that I can recognize in any crowd and I will remember/recognize every person that wears it. I like the combination of the citrus that I perceive first, followed by the patchouli, which makes for an interesting combination and a complex juice with many facets. Lightweight but classy. Bright but deep. Gentle but serious. Despite its bourgeois connotations in the region I live in, I would say that it can be worn by everyone, all styles, and all occasions and conditions/weather; it is incredibly versatile. A very good performance, a great sillage allowing people to know who is wearing it in the room/environment. I would say a classic to have and a must have if you like the juice because it is worth it! The only downside is that since I've been on Fragrantica, I've seen in the comments below that, for some people, it smells like cleaning citrusy products, and now I can clearly see/smell the comparison or where it comes from :( hahaha

Kate_the_Iris

Probably the only perfume I can think of that gives me migraine. I like other scents from Chanel but there is something in COCO Mademoiselle that makes me sick.

It is long-lasting, the projection is great, but it is also very recognisable. So if you want to feel unique, it is probably not your best pick.

It is definitely for more mature women; no college girl will be able to pull it off. If you are in your 50s and 60s, this is surely a gorgeous addition.

mothtoaflame___

It took me about 3 years to understand this perfume (and meanwhile I am absolutely loving it). Probably everything one could tell about this offering of Chanel - the aristocrat among the citruses - is told already.

(Tested)

jjluvsm9

I can see why this is the most popular female offering from Chanel. It’s likeable, crowd pleasing, quite classic and suits all age groups. It’s not for me personally - I can’t get with how soapy it is on my skin.

The patchouli here is very softened and refined, the whole scent has a zingy bright feeling. Like I said, I get the appeal and love the opening but it’s a shame it turns soapy with my skin chemistry so it’s not one for me :(

onjelbercier

It may not be unique, but I feel unique when I where it. It's truly the most chic, feminine, fresh, nonpowdery perfume I've smelled yet. Do I feel like Cher Horowitz from Clueless? Absolutely! I have yet to find my ultimate signature scent, but this comes extremely close. From now on, I base my expectations for every other perfume by whether it carries similar notes as Coco Mademoiselle. It's the safest, most versatile fragrance a women could wear at any age, at least to me.

mikajla

Overrated. Too citric and nothing special about it. I actually find it quite unpleasant. I paid a lot of money to smell like lemon - great. Same with allure but that is little bit less annoying, but also have a feel it's made for older women. Chanel failed me terribly.

PattyLovesScents

Coco Mademoiselle is the fragrance you use to describe other fragrances! She is so iconic in her scent that when I am trying to describe another fragrance I will often say "like Coco Mademoiselle" and then you know! We all know this scent and have either a memory or a vibe of this fragrance. For me Coco Mademoiselle smells like the holidays..........I know that sounds crazy BUT whenever I smell this fragrance on someone it is usually around the holidays.....Whenever I wear this fragrance it is usually the holidays when I am dressing up doing fancy formal things with family and friends. Something about the patchouli, vanilla and citrus floral that is so classy and fancy.

HannahRosesAreRed

I'm not the biggest fan of the original Chanel No. 5, or most Chanel fragrances. They are too strongly powdery and have an artificial aldehyde scent that grates me–and I'm a huge fan of aldehyde frangrances, like Byredo's Blanche or Maison Margiela's Bubble Bath. However, Coco Madmoiselle is different. This is what I expected No. 5 to smell like. From the opening to the dry down, I can see why this newer addition to the Chanel repertoire has become so popular.

I don't detect any citrus in the this fragrance, not in the opening, or on my skin. However, it does have a sunny, sparkly quality lacking in No. 5 so perhaps that's how the citrus manifests itself, at least to me. The rest of Coco Madmoiselle is pure, sweet white, green and rose floral. The orange blossom notes, backed up by rose and a hint of vanilla, are unmistakable and unapologetically sweet and feminine. I also rather like the spicy, grassy patchouli notes and tonka bean just under the surface. The result is a fragrance that's warm but not too warm, powerful without being too offensive, and despite the earthy patchouli undercurrent, feels and smells clean and refreshing without having to go into laundry detergent or aldehyde territory. It's the quintessential high-end perfume department fragrance.

Although Coco Madmoiselle was originally marketed as being for a younger audience than that of No. 5, I would argue that this fragrance is appropriate for all ages. I can see a sixty-year-old wearing this as easily as a twenty-year-old. This could also work for all seasons and transition well from day to night. It does feel timeless and evokes sensuous Old Hollywood glamor. Word of caution–like all Chanel perfumes, this has good, wide sillage and is pretty powerful. One or two sprays is all you need–any more and it would veer right into nuclear levels of nauseating.

I might just have to get a bottle of this for my rotation.

autumnblue914

As someone else put it "this is really what i thought that Perfume™ smelled like as a child."

Today for the first time I've properly smelled a store tested of Coco Mademoiselle EDP and I have to say I have found it - I have found the perfume that smelled so "perfumey" in my childhood and made me think all fragrances are a variation of the same. The perfume that turned me off from fragrances, until I grew up and discovered how wide the world of perfumes was. I never imagined it would be Coco Mademoiselle, even though I knew it was the most sold fragrance in the world. I still thought "I hear it's more complex than that, can't be it. Right?" And now I've smelled it and I recognized it instantly. Another reason why I thought it would never be Coco Mademoiselle is because my country is relatively poor. So I didn't think people would be able to afford Chanel on a mass scale. But alas.

Needless to say that my first impression of it isn't favorable, I will smell it again to try to evaluate it better and see if I find something more to it, but to me it just smells so perfumey and that's it. It will be hard to overwrite the childhood impression.

Galkagalinka

This one did not work for me. Does not work well with my skin at all. The only note I’m getting is grapefruit through and through

YourFragranceFriend

From the start smells like a Macy’s perfume department. It's an iconic scent. It opens with the smell of citrus and patchouli. Florals, wood, and ambery notes are mixed very well. This is one of those perfumes that’s so blended and the scents meld together that it just smells like “perfume” rather than individual notes. From the opening, it smells like a well-rounded perfume rather than fleeting top notes. Smells like it would be good for all seasons except summer.

After 10-15 minutes, the citrus wears off and it’s more patchouli, woody, and earthy with florals. This continues to go more powdery vanilla through the dry down until the musk gives the fragrance a second wind around 6 hours into wear. I really enjoy this fragrance!

AnlisaC

Ok, I don’t like writing a negative review, it’s just not who I am especially because I love perfume so much and I am a collector……..but I have to say I’m not into this fragrance what so ever! It just smells bad on me and with my chemistry.
It’s very screechy and actually makes me sneeze. I know there is a lot of hype surrounding this but unfortunately not a great fragrance on my skin. I do like other Chanel’s like Allure Senualle, Jersey, Gabrielle and Beige and how can I forget Coromandel, which I absolutely love. This is just my opinion.

Scissorslizardspock

Just so classy and beautiful. It’s taken years to own, appreciate and love Coco Mademoiselle, but now that I understand the beauty, it will always be in my collection.

I’ve had older bottles, but recently purchased a new bottle from Chanel. It’s as it always has been. Bottle is iconic, fragrance is classic at this point.

sandra_101

There's a lot to like here and it's better than I expected, given how dismissively I've heard people refer to it. I especially like that it's quite abstract and that it smells well-blended, bright, and classy.

But! That patchouli. Good grief. That kills it for me because to my nose, it's aggressive and sort of jumps out and attacks me. It's sweet-rooty-tangy, almost like licorice root or something.

I guess I like earthy, damp patchouli (see: Serge Lutens Borneo 1834) rather than this sharp, dry patchouli. Live and learn. Or I guess, smell and learn :)

Tulip90

It's a modern classic; it has so many interesting notes that are perfectly blended and balanced. Nice that it can be worn throughout the year too.

millieradish

My first thought was: oh so this is what those ladies at the mall use. lmao.

Honestly, not a bad scent. It's pleasant, feminine, and mass appealing. I'm just not sure if I want to smell like rich kindergarten moms lining up to pick their children up. A tad too mature for me I think.

Evie01

Very very seductive! Reminds me of a summer sunset in the Mediterranean. Super classy, feminine and iconic ”that girl” perfume. Definitely worth the hype! I prefer this over the intense version, which is stronger, sweeter and has a very earthy base

Alae M

I like-dislike it, same feeling towards other perfumes I had previously. There is something attractive about this perfume, and love using it specially when weather gets warmer.
There is something diffrent I feel when I use this fragrance, feminine and every time I wear it people ask about it.
Why I mentioned "dislike" because of jasmine and orange notes, which I don't like 🙃

perlarosa

Too complex (in a bad way) and ordinary for my taste. It is too common for years. Also it is really sharp scent for me.

Iristhenurse

Definitely stronggg orange notes! Smells like an innocent, young French lady. Very refreshing and youthful🙂. I would prefer more sweetness and less sharpness in a perfume, but I purchased her still because she is quite unique compare to the rest of the perfume notes I have in my collection. I got compliments from my older patients so she sure is classic and timeless LOL. Another pros is she lasts forever and you dont need much at all to get strong sillage. This is one of the perfumes that I class as " doenst smell like perfume". Kinda smell like you get lost in an orange garden that flowers blossom and there was sunshine, smells like nature.

lmnsvgz

How do you smell bitter and sweaty at the same time? By using THIS. I cant get myself to like it no matter how much I try it.

rebelde06

One of the most beautiful scents and a classic for a reason.

Harley522

According to Luca Turin Coco Mademoiselle was a quickly assembled flanker, released in spring of 2001 and that its success surprised Chanel.
Coco Mademoiselle was marketed to younger women than its predecessor Coco. But many women in their fifties and older wear this happily. Coco Mademoiselle mass appeal is obviously bigger than one could imagine.
I never owned Coco Mademoiselle, but there is something about it that makes me want to revisit on a more frequent basis over my middle school and college years. And even now, when I’m in perfume store, I always spritz myself with Coco Mademoiselle. There is something attractive about that perfume. It’s has simple composition of citruses and patchouli that smell fresh, peachy pink and earthy. It reminds me of fresh mornings in the summertime. And it’s a very happy smell. To me it’s still a modern smell, regardless of its age. I think it is timeless.🦄
I really do like smelling it in passing on others. It’s also a fragrance I will always associate with fun nights. I wondered why I didn’t buy it yet. The new campaign with Whitney might change that.

joshua_123

When i first started collecting fragrances, I never thought I’d have a signature scent, as I enjoy wearing a different scent everyday. However, this has definitely changed due to my love for this perfume. I prefer the intense version over this, but love wearing this fragrance as an everyday scent.

The initial opening is what I love the most. I layer this with the body oil and top it off with the deodorant spray to try and get a bit more longevity out of it. That initial blast of citrus is so addicting, clean and soapy, it gives that lovely fresh feeling you have when you step out of the shower.

It does dry down quite quickly, and does envelope you in a vanilla bubble. The dry down does become quite masculine and therefore can see a guy pulling this off as well (I’m a guy) but it still remains a very classy and elegant scent. It’s light, airy and inoffensive. I am quite heavy handed with it, because I do loose the smell of it quite quickly.

However, this does not mean that other people can’t smell it on you. I applied a couple of sprays to the hoody I was wearing yesterday. Hours later when I picked my mum from work, she mentioned that she could smell my perfume, even though I couldn’t.

It makes me feel put together when I put it on.

ErinKenney

The price went up. The quality went down. Lasts only a few hours! That's not worth the $160.00 price tag.
Dossier Woody oakmoss smells stronger and last longer. A $30.00 dupe.. I own both.

Noelly88

This is a classic that I am sad I waited so long to try. It’s mature, but also youthful; it’s sweet, but also fresh and clean. I feel like it is definitely a That Girl fragrance that could work in all seasons, day or night. I feel that the top notes are most vibrant - this is fruity / citrusy with a patchouli / vanilla creeping out only to keep the perfume grounded. I can also smell the ylang ylang, I feel it keeps the perfume from smelling immature without starting to lean vintage. They added the perfect amount.

another_52hz_whale

I can see why it is an iconic perfume. I absolutely cannot stand Chanel no. 5. This is acceptable- the opening is loud and headache-inducing. The middle and base notes are pleasant. I am on my second big bottle but I don’t think I will repurchase. The travel spray is convenient!

Edit: I gave away the bottle. The opening is too loud I just cannot tolerate it anymore!

nisarsarah9

This scent smells so light and fresh on skin. I really like it and have also recommended it to many of my friends. I feel like its a Chanel Classic and one of their best sellers.

so_what

I love lighter Chanel fragrances, and this one has been one of my favorite ones for years. It smells like a more modern, progressive and young version of Chanel's more classical scents and I absolutely love that. It still has that very elegant slightly retro-esque note so common for many Chanel fragrances, but as its modified, lighter version. I feel like this perfume instantly makes your look more expensive, it just has this luxurious yet youthful feel to it. An absolute must have in my fragrance collection.

agunlejika

I've met the one.
After my last partner left without warning, Miss Dior 2012,
& after a long mourning period,
I've finally found the Love of my life, Coco Madamoiselle.
Don't even think about it Chanel!

Linnsim

Superclassy, you really can’t go wrong with this. Had it since 2009 or so. An easy grab for when you don’t know what to wear but you want to smell elegant and classy.

unrealgirl

this scent is very mature smelling and the menthol note really puts me off.

J_fr

Lovely clean, fresh, sophisticated and complex smell. I’m usually not a huge fan of vanilla florals, since they can be quite cloying, but this is, like many chanel perfumes, a more soapy, aromatic scent. The patchouli is strong in this, mixing beautifully with the soft florals and citruses. I get many compliments when wearing this, and although i had to get used to the smell the first time i sprayed it, it has become one of my favorite perfumes.

carla.c1

Coco Mad is a crowd pleaser. It will get you compliments for sure!

To me however, CM is one of those perfumes I love using for myself. The orange blossom is quite present everytime I wear it, with a slight citrus and a lot of classy sweetness. Its such a beautiful, loving, feminine perfume.

I cannot smell soapiness in it, so, I don't think it resembles a vintage perfume. Even N5 L'eau smells a little vintage as its soapy (however soft and delicate), my mom's favorite.

With that said, CM will leave such a beautiful trail! Sometimes I only spray once when I'm at home and I feel like I'm in heaven. And if per any chance I get a visit, they compliment me. Even with just one spray, Coco will grab attention, in the best way.

Be sure that this is a classy perfume, with hints of playfulness and always delicate, even though it has great longevity and silage. This is for the young at heart, just like Chance eau tendre.

KELIZ

If the name Chanel had never existed & a niche house just turned this out it would be a celebrated sensation & instant cult classic. Scent is largely a cerebral emotional experience. This masterpiece is so heavily cloaked with its own fame that it’s rarely experienced without a large dose of pre-formed bias - both negative & positive.
I am an artist in the design field & am in a perpetual search for the next cutting edge thing that’s going to blow me away. I had a dusty bottle of Coco Mademoiselle I’d decided needed to go as in my mind it represented: old, tired & stale. I decided to clean the bottle and wear it for one last time before letting it go.
I sprayed it, thinking already even before I smelled it: Basic, conservative, boring mainstream. Then I got my first whiff & thought, ok I don’t even know what I’m smelling but I’m willing to meet you again to see what you’re all about.
That day I was surprised to be stopped by multiple strangers asking what beautiful scent I was wearing. Then another woman that I didn’t know came up to me and said, “You smell gorgeous!” She went on to tell me she had been a long time professional in the fragrance industry and said you just cannot beat that Chanel Coco Mademoiselle - it’s eternal and will never ever lose its appeal - a true classic.
I began smelling my wrist giving this new respect. I wore it around the house and started thinking, this thing is fire. It’s actually kind of amazing. Citrusy warm ambient amber. It’s got great performance legs and is priced reasonably. I encourage everyone to drop all preconceived notions of a fragrance or fragrance house and start experiencing a scent for itself as a singular piece of art framed out just for you. Let it live with you free of words and without thinking. Just experience. Know something for its true nature free from what you’ve been unconsciously told to think. Only then will you sense if this particular thing has an energy that moves you, that lifts you or has a richness you want to carry.
Allow for truly knowing a thing, including yourself, before labeling something. It will reveal itself to you and you will learn something of yourself in the process.
