Florind

very complicated and crowd-pleasing scent. There must be more notes other than the pyramid above.
dark unisex, mature woman......

I like this only for base note residue. It's feminine pink, and doesn't fade away. It's worth the price. (normal Joy is different.)

SaraZigova

It smells old

KumaraScents

This is a truly lovely, wearable scent. Signature worthy and good for any season. I have loads of niche perfumes that you'd expect would take center stage over any designer, but there is something about this scent that just calls to me more than most of my large collection. I'm sad it got discontinued so quickly.

AnastasiaGostieva

My thoughts after blind test. Slightly old-fashioned chypre with bright flowers (jasmine, ylang and rose) and rich balsamic vanilla base with mossy undertones. It has a balance of earthy and sweeter notes.

I think it's a lovely perfume. It reminds me a bit of Burberry Body with the rosey vanilla. It is a body scent as it develops and warms up on one's body. It's soft, but needs to be applied sparingly as it can become too strong if over sprayed and could induce a headache. Lightly sprayed though it's fantastic. Gives me the vibe of an expensive, vintage cold cream, but in a very beautiful way. I would wear this going out to dinner or to a black tie event, but maybe even at home after an evening bath before bed.

LEM922

Um… okay. So, I got a sample of this and I’m a little shook. I went to spray it, and when I did, this bright ORANGE liquid squirted out onto my hand! I was so shocked I wiped it away… is it SUPPOSED to be that color? All of the sudden, this super overpowering perfume smell enveloped.. a little reminiscent of the 2017 miss Dior, that unmistakable Demachy rose. I think had I not panic-wiped this off my hand, it would be a lot stronger. Now that it’s somewhat mellowed, this is a very powdery, vanillic rose smell… not exactly what I expected. It’s not bad at all but it smells like something my grandmother would wear, so I’ll be giving it to her. Wow, what a shock. It was literally traffic cone orange. Maybe I got an old sample. Smells lovely and classy, but not sure if its FBW for me personally.

Edit: gave the sample to my grandmother, she ADORES it. Is thinking about buying a full bottle. Win for me, because if I ever want to wear it , I can just spray hers :) smells wonderful on her as well.

Guiabananaa

overall a nice smell , just the neroli smells grandma ish.

Margoose

My chemistry makes this pretty much unadulterated floral. It’s a pretty traditional perfume. It smells nice, the florals smell upscale, but i’m just getting jasmine and rose. Not getting vanilla, citrus, or woods. hopefully this has more complexity on others, but it’s certainly one-dimensional on me.

Sonia Sonia

Memorable would be my first experience of Joy intense . This Saturday I went to visit a local castle and grounds and as I was walking with my 11 year old son we could continuously smell the perfume of a lady walking in front of us.. I would say she was at least 3, 4 meters apart from us at all times .. at some point we complimented her and said that we loved the trail she leaves behind .. Still 20 minutes later we kept bumping into her and the smell still lingered.. in the end I asked her what perfumes she was wearing and surprise surprise it was Joy intense .. the powdery feeling was jsit sublime ..

MsFCAS

This is an ok scent but it bears almost no resemblance to Joy. There are a million scents like this one on the market - I don’t know why Dior felt like they needed to make another one, and to do so under the name Joy is just sacrilegious.

Thranduil

The original Joy isn't anything special; its perfume that smells like perfume.

Enter Joy Intense from stage right.

The amped up vanilla puts Joy Intense in whole other ballpark compared to the original Joy.

Joy Intense is a rich vanilla infused rose and jasmine bouquet. It's a beautiful vanilla-floral perfume that's apt for everyday wear.

And it's one of the few perfumes that has bergamot listed in its notes but my nose can't detect it all, bless. 😂

It reminds me a little of Miss Dior 2021 but Miss Dior 2021 is more of a freshly watered roses with some vanilla scent than a vanilla-floral scent. Plus... Miss Dior 2021 is rather disappointing compared to other vanilla-floral perfumes Dior has available like Joy Intense or Poison Girl.

Jezebelle

I love it so much. When I fist tested the original Dior Joy I thought it was incredibly basic and forgettable.
I somehow ended up with a sample of Intense and kept testing it and found it so pretty and actually nothing smells like it! Maybe it's "basic", in the sense that it's a day to day, not too this, not too that perfume, but it's rather unique. A little bit fresh, a little bit sweet, not too serious, not too juvenile either, and there is something about it that just makes it special and addictive, a quirk, I can't put my finger on it. Smells like expensive body lotion.
I would say that momentarily this is my favorite perfume, and I have the original Joy on my want list as well.

Ghadah02

Smells very normal to me just a regular perfume nothing special and it's too much perfumy. Not bad it's more of an okay. It's also very sweet.

perfumedpathologist

LUXE vanilla & white floral developing a subtle rose nose after time, one of those quality perfumes that gives those "smells expensive" vibes. Compliments galore from ladies & gents during the day in my workplace. Strong sillage - 2 sprays is enough for settings in which fragrance should be minimal (e.g., healthcare settings) & I wouldn't wear this in very hot weather. Moderate longevity. Agree with reviewer TexasOrangeBlossom (11/18/22 08:28) that this conjures scent memories of Mon Guerlain Intense, but with prominent white floral/vanilla & no lavender.

KimberMoon

I think it's really pretty, although I do prefer the original to the intense. It gets a lot of negativity, but I think it's beautiful. The longevity could be better. On me, I don't get much jasmine, but I do get the rest of the notes listed, none really standing out over the others, all pretty much equal players. It's a safe go to for pretty much any occasion in my collection.

Sparrowdeplume

Joy Intense is a light, powdery fragrance, like roses and wood but fading into the background somewhere. It’s very subtle on me and I can usually smell it on a leather necklace or my clothes afterwards, but not directly, like Poison or Addict.
If you’re aiming for subtle this is nice. But if you’re aiming for a big sillage, and longevity probably not. Nice for work if you don’t want to overpower people with a fragrance but you like something initimate and chic.

Lalunalynn

All I can say is, jasmine must really project on my skin and I hate it. I had to scrub it off!

Edemay

INTENSE patchouli and spice
Very much like allure sensuelle but a bit more floral
2 sprays on me and it was almost giving me a migraine
Really undecided if I like it or not

TupacAmaruShakur

People talking about it being discounted but you can buy it everywhere here in Sweden. It's a good fragrence, I think the rating should be 4 or higher actually.

Ursalilium

Beautiful sweet floral vanilla, Joy Intense smells like a designer cupcake on my skin, i would happily pull it as unisex, since i have only a sample i am afraid i might not sprayed enough to unleash it's full potential, but even though longevity is fair at 6 hours plus, projection is not offensive, a perfect body scent to get intimate with someone, as i wrote i don't mind which of the partners would wear this or both. it is Sexy. and from reading the recent reviews, all good has come to an end and this gem sadly is being discontinued. i am happy we had the chance to meet, i will remember and seek for you again.

TexasOrangeBlossom

I’m kind of surprised that no one has made a comparison of this to Mon Guerlain Intense. Not a dupe by any means, but if you took out the lavender of MG Intense, this could be a l’eau version of it. I get the same vibe. I did see someone mention that if you like MG Florale, you would like Joy Intense. I agree. I feel like Joy Intense is a Joy, MG Intense, Miss Dior mash up. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled Allure, but now I’m curious about that one.

oxo_garnet_oxo

a familiar smell, not unique at least for my taste, I can't identify any of its content, especially the vanilla, jasmine, or musk. it reminds me of Bright Crystal from Versace

beatrix75

Please 🙏 you cam not take away this beautiful fragrance it is a must !!! This fragrance its one of the best from Dior house!!!!!

Lyric82

This was a gift from a friend a few years ago, and at the time, I didn’t really enjoy it. I wouldn’t say I disliked it, but it was more something that I saw as run of the mill, ordinary… not offensive at all, but nothing really special to draw me in.

But lately, my feelings towards it have been growing and I am really starting to appreciate it. To me, it’s a slightly sweet floral with some pronounced wordy notes thrown in. My affection towards it is definitely growing and I’m not sure if the bottle is slightly transforming due to age, in a positive way, or if my nose is changing/evolving. I still wouldn’t call it a love, but it’s a very strong like at this point.

It has good longevity and projects moderately. To me, it’s a daytime scent but can be worn any season. Doesn’t really have a fancy vibe, this is more of a throw it on with jeans type of scent to me. Although it could work in the office too.

Fluffykittens

This fragrance definitely surprised me. As I was using up my sample I really grew to appreciate it. It is soft, in a gentle and cozy way which is awesome because I can't stand LOUD fragrances. I understand why alot of people say it smells elegant because it really does. Even though the opening is quite sharp, it dies down pretty quickly and transforms into a delicious vanilla and rose. Very well blended and on my skin it lasts for +8h. Even thought I really like it, it's a tad too mature for me. I get a strong +30 woman vibe. Definitely will come back to this one in the future.

strawberryfa

i got this as a gift from my father, the only perfume i've ever bought with him is cartier baiser vole, so he thought I like my fragrances colored pink, he was wrong. my taste is either fresh green citrus white floral or warm spicy amber-y fragrances. after an initial spray and sniff, i decided it is not the perfume for me. the immediate waft of vanilla gave me a slight headache and wearing it makes me feel like a school girl, and i think it would not be hard to find a drug store body mist with this exact scent.

the good thing is, since it feels ordinary, it is suitable to be worn at all times, i had worn it thrice (office, night out, picnic in the sun) and it evoked no response whatsoever. it last me a good 3+ hours and it still lingers 6ish hours later. compared to other diors that i have, dune (beautiful, gorgeous, a staple, would never catch me with an empty bottle) and miss dior (perfectly affable yet sophisticated, suitable for me, a woman in her mid 20s) it falls really short. though i would recommend this as a first perfume for young girls, and maybe one of my niece would take this off my shelf.

aspirina

Nice, sweet, girly and forgettable. I have trouble to believe this is a Dior scent...nah just kidding...Dior has been churning so many bland scents in the past few years that almost anything could be a Dior scent.
That is sad. Joy intense is not a bad fragrance. It is nice, very nice. But in a very timid and plane Jane way.
Clean, musky, soft rose and vanilla. A sample is more than enough for me!

giri-boni

If you have more than, let's say, 5 fragrances in your wardrobe, probably one of them smells like this. Good? Yes. But is good enough?

SummerRose

Feminine, elegant yet cheerful, playful and sexy. Wow, I'm loving this new fragrance by Dior especially as it's a bit windy here in the UK in the Spring. So, there's no sunshine....but this gives me Floral vanilla and good vibes.... I just love it!

Get your nose on it if you can and grab it if you can get it for a good price. There is a powdery note which I usually don't like but in the Joy Intense, it just smells good. I get about 6 hours on my skin and the silliage is about arms length. It was a blind buy for me but I have no regrets.

felised

Pretty non-offensive, wearable musky floral vanilla. It is a bit bland for my taste but it's pleasant and probably a crowd-pleaser. Still waiting for Dior to add something to knock my socks off to their main line of fragrances, it's been way too long...

Panterka29

I love Dior Joy Intense ❤️, its very different from original thankfully. Its more elegant and well blended. It reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle in the opening, it has the same patchouli and floral scent. The dry down a bit softer and calm. I am glad I found it, its a crowd pleaser and good office fragrance.

Sannesans

I am so glad I discovered this beauty. A real good sales woman in the perfume store listened to me when I returned Bloom of Rose EDP. I said it wasn't my thing and explained to her my taste in fragrances.
She came up with Joy Intense and I must say it is gorgeous!
What a beautiful and chic opening, a very soft middle note and then a very warm and feminine dry down. I do understand the link with Allure Chanel, but I prefer this one.
A very classy, floral, mature scent. Good for the evening or colder weather, but I guess also all year round.

CurlGurl

It starts sweet and definitely has that Dior vibe. But it dries down to a very clean, soapy scent. This is Not a gourmand. It's very fresh out of the shower, inoffensive, and chic. Definitely a spring and summer wear. Lasts only about 2 hours on my skin, but thankfully you can buy gently used bottles for less than 50 bucks. Fantastic, easy grab to keep on hand.

Sombra

This perfume is a real treasure. Smells expensive, elegant, bright and mature in a good way.
I am not getting much of girly "joy" from this bottle; to me it smells more like visiting an elegant restaurant, important dinner, private high-end event, expensive show or having a business meeting with a lot of cash involved.
I can not smell vanilla out of this bottle, but I feel a lot of musk, rose, tonka beans and neroli. Tonka beans add something "earthy" and raw to this smell and overall blend well with it. Bergamot and neroli remind us of freshness and readiness to keep going optimistically. Rose smells very elegant and classy here.
The longevity and sillage feel like moderate, but I would not mind reapplying.
There is nothing else to say but to mark this perfume as my "occasional important events" signature scent. I'm really glad I've discovered it!

mariboo

When I wear it, I feel like I come from old money. This is the kind of scent a girl who goes to a private school on the Upper East Side would wear. Perfect for when you go to polo matches or spend the afternoon by the coast on your family's yacht.

Siv7Stars

Great all rounder n easy reach. No it's not wildly exciting, just a nice scent, makes you feel polished. Rose, neroli n vanilla are most prominent to me but it's mostly just a smooth blend. I do like the magnetic cap but I get the feeling that's what I'm paying slightly over the odds for here, because it's not the longevity, not for me anyway. I would say this is a safe blind buy, or to give as a gift. The smell-a-like section says this is like Guerlain's Souffle.. hmm, I can see that a little but Souffle is far more lemony, this just has a bergamot hint, & more rose. It's the dry down it gets a little similar more than the start. It's absolutely nothing like Coco, no idea why that one's in there.
Addendum: Is just my perfume eating skin it doesn't last on, I put yesterdays clothes on today & they still smell of it very strongly!
PS. The more I've used this the more I've liked it. Draws compliments.

emmajane03

Absolutely love this fragrance! Much better than the original joy Dior, always complimented on when I wear it! It lasts for a long time and has great silage! I think this is one of those perfumes that most people would enjoy!

Poisonmy1love

I dont have this but I like it so much! I would not dear to wear it in public. It is strong and sticks to clothes and materiel for weeks. I like the vanilla in it. It is cosy and mature. Like a nice family member who always smells like this and is this perfume as a person.

AmoreProfumi

Joy intense smells like Joy mixed with Miss Dior parfum’17 DNA..only this is more tolerable I really love it b/c I like MD but find it to be a little much at times, & I love how expensive it smells, tempted on getting my mom a small bottle of this for Xmas, it smells like her. I already got her perfume but that’s more summery, this smells perfect for the winter.

Mace63

This smells soooooooo wonderful. It's honestly one of my most favorites. Smells expensive and unique, just love everything about it.

stefani valini

The opening is fresh flowers but the dry down smell like baby powder. Not my vibe at all. Its more appropriate for mature women I think (but you wear what you whant). The sillage is very strong, maybe too much for me, it make me nauseous and give me headach. The lasting power is very good ++12hours on me

marusiatko

I ve been trying to like this perfume for months but to no success and just now I ve decided to give it away. The musk is very prominent, it smells very generic and any time I have to choose between this and Allure Sensuelle, I choose Allure. It s no love to me, not even a like. Generic, bland and forgettable for me :(

beatrix75

I love it from the first smile but I talk about this Intens not the original . This is more sweet deeper and stronger.
.

adelaidesandrina

I think i’ve mentioned this so many times but eh gonna say it anyways :)

Dior Joy has been on my wishlist for god knows how many years, but i’ve never bought it since it sends me headaches and it’s weird longevity. Plus it’s very pricey.

Until today! I decided to get the “intense” version instead. To me it’s stronger, just a tad bit. But the fact that i could already smell it from the dior paperbag means that it is quite strong, no? I mean the box is sealed too! The opening smells like j’adore and joy’s love child. Although to my nose it resembles j’adore more than joy itself.

The vanilla is dominant, unlike Joy.. where the citrus is dominant. That’s about it for the difference between those two. The longevity and sillage is 10% stronger, which isn’t too shocking. And also, even if it isn’t listed in the pyramid.. i find the patchouli to be strong as well. The patchouli imo smells like coco mademoiselle intense.

IMO, the drydown of this one is really good. Smells like the most expensive rose powder, mixed with warm sultry vanilla and tonka bean. If that makes sense?

This is like a mature version of Joy.. it’s denser in the notes not the longevity. I personally love it, i think it’s an easy grab for me.. surprisingly.

Sienna_Elise

Meh, it's a non descript perfume, nothing much to say about it, instantly forgettable and no staying power. After an hour there is no smell whatsoever.

mevans

I like it. There is initially a floral note that I'm not a fan of, not sure if that's neroli because I have that in some other perfumes. That does subside and it becomes quite rosy. The rose is very pretty and the vanilla and tonka bring a smooth, slightly sweet and creamy base. It's elegant and feels upscale which doesn't surprise me coming from Dior. This is a very solid choice for a classy floral staple in your collection.

Elsee

This beauty came around in my rotation this week and I'm finding myself loving this today. There's a heatwave here in the southwest and this juice has done well. It's a dry heat here and that can be a factor as I have many perfumes that smell different in different climates.

Needless to say - this is a classic beauty. Probably not groundbreaking, serious, or super sexy, but simple put ---
very very nice.
Happy summer everyone.

KowltheOwl

I get a citrusy floral w/ vanilla and patchouli in the drydown...don't see patchouli is a listed note but it's definitely present. The drydown is lovely and the best part imho. Nothing groundbreaking but very nicely done and perfect for warm weather.

CheesyGarlicBread

Testing a sample, I enjoyed the fizzy citrus opening. Quickly dries down to a fairly linear, very sweet flower. After an hour or so, sweet/tart flowers and some amber. Won't be reaching for this to finish my sample. After the opening, a little too generic.

carlahoffman

Has a very pretty, somewhat sweet citrusy opening which I really like. Then comes in a lovely floral scent which also is very pleasing to my senses and those around me. It dries down on me to light musky creamy vanilla scent with a hint of a spice/woody note.

I read the reviews before I purchased this and when I tried it I decided not to compare it to other perfumes and judge it on its on merit. This is one perfume that as the days goes on it smells better and better. Which I feel is a warm, pretty, sensual, very feminine perfume that is working good in cooler weather and I wear it day and night.

It has a pleasant projection, not over bearing which lasted most of the day. I have yet to own a Dior perfume that is long lasting. By evening I added a spray or 2 and was still happy with it. Use the body lotion and the perfume needs no touch up.

tandem_4x4

Seems I am anosmic to both Joy and Joy Intense. They both smell to me like super generic perfume, though made of good quality materials. Probably not bad for daily wear, very versatile etc, but I have too many much more prominent fragrances.

Thought I love the bottle

Annemarie

A while back I left a fairly lukewarm review of this and promptly forgot about it. Then, a week and a half ago I gave it a casual spritz as I walked past a Dior counter, and again, was not tremendously impressed with the opening, which is a crowd-pleasing blend of clean notes designed to prise the plastic out of your wallet before you leave the store.

The next phase is fairly sweet, although there is nothing in the listed notes to warn you of that. This is where the Joy Intense is compared to Chanel Allure, but to me Allure (I'm thinking of the EDP) is heavier and stickier.

But - for me this one is all about the dry-down. As the day progressed I kept lifting arm to nose to check where that stunning creamy, woodsy accord was coming from. My arm, of course. Joy Intense loses some of that sweetness and enters a long, golden phase of languid ease that lasts hours. Eventually it fades out with a silky face powder accord.

Gorgeous heavy bottle with a magnetic cap. The juice is tinted pink tending towards a pretty shade of lilac.

Before the day was out I'd possessed myself if a 30ml bottle that someone on eBay had bought the week before and immediately decided was not for her. Perhaps she hated it and wanted it out of her life because she charged half price for it with free shipping. Well, now it's mine.

genny17

I hate Allure, but I love Joy intense, they have a Chypre vibe, but Allure is harsher and more cold, more old style too..Joy intense is more urban, more modern...easier to wear...I don’t think it has anything in common either with NR..it is definitely a compliment getter, I love wearing it, it has something special.

Perfumepusher

Seems like many are busy comparing this one to either the original joy or the allure-line. I'm too busy over here loving this perfume to the fullest of my lungs at every sniff. I can't even describe my love for this perfume, and i'm over here actually rolling my eyes at the reviews about this one not being anything special. It's not neccesarily the most complex or outstanding perfume no, but it's so pleasing and so beautiful and soooo perfect. If i had to make a 'five perfumes for the rest of my life' Joy Intense would for sure be one of them! Love love love

brumbarche

D&G Light Blue Intense (citrusy top) and Dior Joy Intense (rosy top) have the same dense sweet creamy woody base and if you like one you will like the other. Layering it with other delicate florals you own will create their "intense" version. Great perfume to experiment with and to wear daily when you don't feel like anything else in particular.

EDIT:
I just wore it to the dentist as I couldn't imagine making the mistake to associate my uncomfortable experience there with any distinct fragrance note to come and haunt me later. I don't even think that people should wear perfume to the dentist. But I desperately needed something to accompany me and hold my hand there, so that I can comfortably sit in the waiting room and be the crybaby I am, without depending on anything but the perfect hug of my perfume. Yeah, I'm sensitive like that and I keep it to myself. So it had to be something smooth, encompassing, but minimal and unintrusive. Something that can't annoy anyone from being smelt up close, but good to cover up my stress. Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc was my other option, but it was somehow too uplifting for me at this moment, too spring-like (and it's winter here). So I went for JOY INTENSE, which was more soothing and relaxing and made me feel comforted in its cloud of thick cozy creamy woody floral sweetness, without making me focus on it at all or choke the person buried in my face. It was just like I was 10 and mom took me to the dentist and stayed in the background the entire time and I didn't think of her, but that's exactly what made her presence so important. I don't want to sound like I'm overselling it, or like it's something incredible and special. This story is meant merely as an example of how this perfume makes its way to be worn time and time again over way too many other options on my shelf — my point: it's safe, versatile (except for clubbing), of great quality and just what you need.

shannonwheeler05

The original Joy smelled almost like a dupe for Allure EDT to me, and I prefer Allure EDT, so I returned Joy. I like Joy Intense, however, and I do agree with those who say it’s reminiscent of Allure Sensuelle EDT (I haven’t tried the EDP of that but have the both Allures in the EDT and find it similar to those). I think this is good for cold weather and for cozy days. I have received compliments on it, and I think it has very good sillage and is long lasting. I think if you enjoy Allure or Narcisso Rodriguez’ musky florals, you’ll enjoy this. I find this would be for 30+. All the notes are very well blended to my nose, so it creates this soft cloud of loveliness.

CatsCatjang

Reminds me of Princess by Vera Wang

Flameinga

A very well blended mixture of jasmine, rose, sandalwood, musk and vanilla, with a hint of bergamot freshness.

I am starting to resent the "musky rose" notes on some perfumes, but on this one it is well mixed with the rest. On me, nothing really stands out (maybe the white flowers a bit), I find it very well rounded and I love it!

And it also has great resemblance with Floratta in Silver, by O Boticário.

Rhapunzel12

They said u have to know where u wear your perfume.. so i guess this one suits for winter ❄️😊 im ordering this even there is covid 😆 dont care if pipz cant smell it when they are wearing mask! I dont care! Hahaha😂🤣

mamufa

I wanted the first one (Joy), unfortunately I got the intense version.
I can not stand it. It has not much in common with the first Joy. On my skin it is a patchouli monster, on clothes - patchouli monster, even on piece of paper the patchouli monster that grows and grows and don't go away.
I can't even use it as room spray. It makes me sick.
Be careful.

I have bought & loved Allure Sensuelle for years. I smelled, sprayed, tested..on skin, strip..clothes THIS today at Ulta today & can still smell it very slightly on my wrist 5 hrs later. I never once smelled anything remotely close to AS. Or LVEB. I agree, a chypre & I too smell a mix of accords that is coming off slightly patchouli. Actually, it smells more like the patchouli in JS Fancy Nights. I actually like that one though.....I would never buy this.

kiraagold

So much better than the first draft.

The sad Earl Grey sachet is now bright bergamot zest, the pale cream made into sweet vanilla custard, and the rose is a full bouquet of long stemmed high teas.

Sandalwood and tonka add warmth and spice, and if the musk were a little more sheer, I’d buy it by the quart.

>Happy Cat<

Joy intense smells even more mature & vintage than edp.

Not my type. Imo the bottle and marketing campaign are misleading, I excepted it to different

turkishgirl

the opening smell like a basic perfume but they dry down omg! this is a little bit masculine with vanilla :) i love it

honeybee29

I like this. The composition of notes smells somehow familiar, which is very comforting. I don’t think it’s groundbreakingly unique or anything, but it’s very pleasant and has GREAT sillage & longevity. I feel like it’s more appropriate for colder months, as it’s not a very light fragrance.

PerfumerAddict

Dior joy is inoffensive in terms of the way it smells. However, you're better off finding cheaper perfumes that do more for you than this does.
But Dior joy intense... that perfume does give you food for thought and bang for your your buck.
I personally dislike it. The smell of straight up rose is my enemy. It makes me nauseous and triggers my migrane. However, in this perfume It's not so bad. But I dislike the smell of this perfume intensely. Pun intended.
There's something oriental about this fragrance and I cannot stand any oriental or Arabic smells. Those type of fragrances make me physically sick.
I'm more into fruity, gourmand, sweet type. Even if done in a classy way.

Siv7Stars

Would you like La Nuit Tresor but with the praline n caramel removed? Here you go.
That sounds like I'm being snarky but I actually really like this. I tried a lot of stuff today, including the original Dior Joy (bleurgh!! sorry that is my considered opinion, I can't articulate what was wrong with it, a sort of bin note?? :/ ) and YSL Libre Intense, but this won with husband n son so will probly get this first.
This actually does smell quite happy, (not too sweet) it's warm, bright n sunny feeling, modern, elegant, no particular notes stand out except the rose which becomes jammier as it dries down.

delightme5

Bingo ! Like this one a lot, couldnt get along with the first Dior joy.. At all !
If your comparing synthetics in a perfume - and some say this has that element.. I would say Absolutely blooming is MORE synthetic to my nose.

This to me was an instant YES ! A definite Allure (sensuelle) closeness, more so than Allure to me. I like lots about Allure - either version.
Joy Intense wears nice and smooth and a little citric hiding in there , it all balances out nicely. AND that nice chanel like vanilla is in here.
Later, i thought, whats that ..? I could feel a lovely white floral symphony - No particular flower stands out (maybe faintly some clean white jasmine).. a sort of pure universal feel coming through.. Joyous !!! Both sexes feel free to try.
Beautiful blending and some sort of structure it felt finally here - for these high priced perfumes we pay for.
Its not the most amazing wildest fantasy perfume of your dreams , but its very nice amongst all the rubbish out there ...FOR A CHANGE.

Walking through a field of oranges, grass and flowers! Pretty! Joy Intense caught my attention after smelling a sample, I was not surprised with the original Joy. To me it was simply to light although easy to smell. I always like perfumes that make a statement, that have some originality. Joy Intense has that, to me not a typical floral, but one that may surprise you. I love the powdery, the opening is very alike to the original but then it transforms into a more mature and indeed intense version. To me it reminds me of the dry down of Miss Dior EDP 2017 version, they could be sisters. The jasmine and the grasse rose are predominant in both, this one though is less citrusy and more aromatic and both are very powdery. I do understand a bit the comparison with Chanel's allure sensuelle but this one is less spicy. As this one gets closer to the skin by dry down it gets better... can't catch any patchouli though. No idea as why general opinion is that there is patchouli in it? to me the tonka and the vanilla take care of the longevity and that singular twist, bottom line it is charming and an every day perfume. Is it a joyful and happy fragrance? definitely, does it have the 80'9-90's vibe? yes it does. Is it for you? I would not blind buy for the price, I think the chemistry on your skin can make this one turn around, so it is best to try.

Jessica_Jones

This smells exactly like Allure Sensuelle, while the Dior Joy smells exactly like Chanel Allure, but for some reason I like both Chanels more.

Jana711xx

Dior fragrances in the last five years all smell the same to me, just characterless pink juice in a bottle but this one is is a bit more depth there is an actual dry down that is warm and sensual. So yes this is quite lovely don’t know if I would actually purchase it because there are many other fragrances on the market that are similar but it is pleasing that Dior has actually put its name to a fragrance that is different to its usual boring portfolio

awesomeamiyah

I LOVE THIS!

Typical MUSKY-JASMINEY-VANILLA-WITH-HINTS-OF-ROSES scent. Clean, opulent everyday scent that is blissful and largely relaxing.

There is something the dry down which I love most, it has a very aromatic woody-tonka bean accord. I think this would work best for everyday, just like Gabrielle by Chanel.

Definitely, this is another best #BlackGirlMagic scent I ever saw and smell!

blond.coconut

Right after spritzing – can we take a minute to throw up? This is a nasty old, stale, grandma's perfume type of scent. The dry-down is less nauseating, but it's still not a pleasant scent. Rose and citrus notes are the most prominent.

genny17

I feel la vie est Belle is more rich and gourmand, I don’t see similarities..joy intense has à Chypre undertone....personnally i don’t find them similar, other than being pink !?

flowerbomb81

Is there anyone else who thinks this smells similar to Lancome La Vie Est Belle? Although this has a touch of woodiness to it.
Letting it settle, I actually like it. One of may faves? Nope. But dries into a nice powdery, vanilla, floral, vanilla. I just dislike the initial opening as it reminds me of LVEB.

dglightblue

Joy intense two sprays back of hand, humid summer.

Well, it’s a bit different than OG joy. That one starts Dewey and floral then dries heading towards talc (in a nice way).
This one is different, it’s a cool gummy gum dew floral with a smooth eraser powder middle, cool floral sweet, semi thick, not heavy overall.

I’ll check my notes and finish. I like it

cookygirl

I don't like this.
Has the same vibe to me as LVEB which I detest.
I could tell even from the bottle that this wouldn't end well but felt I should really give it a spin, even just for the sake of "science".
So, no surprises here.
I agree with other posters that my bete noir, patchouli, must be lurking in here somewhere.

Advaitaforever

This is so underwhelming for a house like Dior. Really? Where is your imagination.

Typical, predictable mildly fruity, musky floral scent. Clean, inoffensive office scent that is non-descript and largely boring. Why is everyone trying to be such a conformist these days? At least have some self expression in your fragrance.

For people who actually care, there is a sharp bergamot that is very prevalent, a Synthetic and refined rose, some gentle skin musk in the background and a very flat vanilla.

There is something the dry down which I don’t like, it has an almost stale citrus accord. It isn’t rounded enough. I think this would work best in very hot climates. It’s a refreshing vacation scent I suppose.

bbasisty

I love the drydown so much! But not sure if I'm willing to put up with the 2-3 hours of slight headache to get there. :(

camden-girl

Is a high quality fakes seller , these are aaaa copies , u need original bottle
To realise.
Please don’t be duped, their top notch fakes , smell close and bottles look
Good at first , but fake testers is what they are ( testers are now hugely faked)
Please b careful she has fake Chanel too.

AquaBaby5

Recently sprayed on but I am past the initial opening. The heavy musk and jasmine, neroli, vanilla is definitely giving me Shalimar Souffle de Parfum vibes in the top. It has nearly the same level of sweetness but the patchouli and rose are also giving it some depth that SSdP does not have aside from the vanilla musk.

For reference I really didn’t like the original Joy but I like this. It’s worth a try if you didn’t like Joy either. I do love Coco Mademoiselle also, I see that referenced as similar, but I don’t see that as being a sister to this, this definitely has more muskiness and the patchouli isn’t heavy, it’s there for support. At this point I can’t really smell it unless I put my arm up to my nose, it has been about an hour, so sillage is poor on my skin.

Update: wore it around my mother and she mistook it for Shalimar Souffle. She hates that perfume due to the musk and said “why are you wearing that perfume around me again?”

freddinos

I agree there’s definitely patchouli in Joy Intense. It brought to mind facets of Chanel Allure Edp and Allure Sensuelle. Not a very original concept but does smell good. I don’t find the bottle or the name fitted to the scent though, this is not a ‘pink bottle perfume’ at all

giggle_butt

Mood: Chilly spring day!
I received a sample, allowing me to truly sample it by wearing it for a day:

Pink peppery rose with a hint of freshness that only shows up in the top notes. After a couple of hours, you're just left with a floral mixture of Dusty-Rose and then Jasmine that tends towards a powdery direction with a hint of Oriental Spice. It's not listed, but I'm pretty sure I'm smelling subtle notes of patchouli?

Of course, no one next to me would get all that, they'd just smell powdery floral. Only if someone sniffed my wrist would they detect something more (ie; no sillage here)

The ingredients look great, but unfortunately, they seem to be too blended; the fresh oriental accord is lost to the generic, possibly synthetic Rose.

Love the idea, disappointed by the execution and poor performance. (TBF I don't seem to care much for Dior)

I am now determined to find a fresh oriental perfume!

JenniferLatifa

This is stunning! Perfect for dressing up or you could play it down for everyday in my opinion because I can’t see anyone complaining about this! It’s a lot different than the original. Two completely different fragrances. This one has become a new favorite of mine!

Amascent

I initially hated this, since the first spray and beginning wear smells synthetic, powdery, sharp, cold to the nose and not plesant. But I gave it a second try, sprayed before bed to try again knowing that i hated the initial notes, and about 5 hrs into my sleep I was literally woken up by a warm sweet vanilla sandalwood scent with a deeper tonka slightly spicy base. Its amazing at this stage. Developed into something extraordinary on my skin and in the morning my boyfriend loved it on my neck and commented in bed how great I smell. I'm definitely going to wear it more since all morning it continued to develop and morphed into various mixed arrangements of the deeper sweeter blend that I loved. Every time I smelled my wrists while I was making coffee and getting ready in the morning I was surprised with a new warm and sweet arrangement.

So... I love it!!! However I still dislike it when first applied. It's like 2 completely different scents.

I appreciate and kind of admire that the perfume is so complex to be able to completely morph like that on my skin, this is one of the longest wearing perfumes of everything I have tried recently, and it smells so amazing, I think I have to keep it as a permanent addition to my collection. It just works with my chemistry and smells so different on me than it does on tester strips. It has quickly evolved into one of my current favorites.

Also...I've been asked what perfume I'm wearing and complimented on this scent more than any other I own, and that makes me want to wear it more often since people are drawn to it on me. Every time I wear it I get at least one compliment and it's always accompanied by a mesmerized facial expression, which is different from when I receive compliments on other fragrances. Something very special about this juice. Every single time I get those special compliments while wearing this. So this is just great, and I adore it.

Morphinx

Call me crazy but the Joy line is like the female counterpart to Sauvage with its packaging component and distinguishing sharp notes. Even my boyfriend who wears Sauvage daily agrees. This parfum strikes me as an oriental, warm floral, while also slightly clean at the same time. At first I was very underwhelmed by the release, thinking it was just going to be another white floral parfum. I smelled the original Joy and felt it wasn't well rounded, until I smelled this. This smelled more unique than I thought.

My preferences are fresh, fruity, florals and I tend to stray away from anything with Neroli or rose because if it's not done right, it becomes something your grandma would wear, or become pungent. This is quite unique in the sense that it has 3 different scents to it: on paper, on skin/clothes, and in the air. On paper and smelling the bottle, I despise it. It's pungent and I get hit with the neroli immediately and it smacks you with that sharp, stingy note. Almost like how in Sauvage, the sharp ambroxan smacks you first before you notice anything. It gives off a medicated ointment feel. I was immediately put off by that until I sprayed it on my skin and my body temperature worked up to the parfum and I smell that beautiful jasmine and rose pour out. I feel conflicted with the sharp notes but it balances with the floral so nicely. It's like floral with a kick so you don't get bored. The dry down is absolutely gorgeous because I smell the vanilla, clean sandalwood, tonka bean which wasn't in the first Joy. This version smells so much more rounded. The first felt like it was missing something and just stayed sharp, while this one smells creamier and relaxed. In the air or sillage, you get this airy almost incense-like scent which I do worry about because I feel it adds years to my age. I wish there was a little less musk and neroli because it does teeter into the "grandma scent" territory but the floral composition keeps it from completely going there. Overall, it's a good balance between oriental, slightly clean, and floral.

Depending on the weather, this can affect the scent. My favorite time to wear this is during chilly nights because it makes it smell sweet, fresh, and romantic. During hot summer days, it may smell sharper so please be cautious of overspraying.

Longevity is knocked out the park with this one. My body eats up parfum like nothing but this lasted 8+ hours out, through my sleep, through work days. Sillage stays at arms length (with 2 spritz) for approximately 4-5 hours. Do spray with moderation.

Overall rating: 8/10
I'm conflicted by the sharp top notes but enjoy the heart, drydown, and longevity...
Another thing to add is that when I sprayed my wrist, I noticed a slight oiliness and that's usually a good indicator that there's less alcohol content for better longevity.

Definitely give this a whiff! If you're not into orientals like me, this may sway you otherwise. Definitely smell it on your wrist because on paper, it's not the true scent. Your body chemistry will answer to whether or not this is a compatible match.

Deirdre1969

Jan 5 2019 tried on at Ulta. First sniff: "Wow that's good" and truly joyful in a sweet-sugar-citrus way. On the paper it stayed sweet floral fruity and fizzy. On me, it started getting a little licorice-y, then settled down to a sweet sugary vanilla-musky, touch of resinous scent. Hub says it "doesn't smell like anything" lol. Smell floating in store near endcap was LVEB-ish but less obnoxious. Hint of CM without the nausea. Really nice.

Annemarie

The opening is lovely but once the citrus and floral notes subside (as they do quite quickly on me) I'm left with a vanilla tonka thing, very pleasant, but not especially distinctive. I get the resemblance to Chanel Allure but Joy has a fresher feel to it. Longevity and sillage on me are good: the fragrance makes a statement and trails nicely. It doesn't die on the skin in half an hour, but nor does it announce your arrival in the building while you are still in the carpark.

Joy Intense (and the original Dior Joy) will have mass appeal, especially among professional women looking for modern, flexible, day-night office-friendly options. The Chanel market, essentially. Chanel CM, Gabrielle and No. 5 Eau Premiere all address the same sector. Lancome La Vie Est Belle too. Not that they similar fragrances note for note, just that they probably appeal to the same kind of buyer: a woman in her 30s with a bit of money to spend on a quality fragrance that will suit most occasions and not offend anyone.

DrRosie

My sister gave me the original one, I wore it once and wasn't able to smell it on me. I ended up giving it away to someone who had a better use for it. I love Dior, I will probably try this one. I am in the process of replacing all of my perfumes with their intense versions, this is in my list for 2020.

brenda.watts.1

Such a faint perfume for me. Starts off as a soft citrus scent on me, reminds me of wearing Clinique Happy all day, when Happy is all but worn off. Then after the initial soft citrus skin scent, I pick up a very soft vanilla. This is within an hour of applying. Then it completely is gone. My take: Nice if you like soft citrus vanilla skin scents that are not overpowering at all.

amariahb

This perfume has bergamot, neroli
Grasse rose, Grasse jasmine, tonka bean, vanilla, sandalwood and musk. While it promises so much, for me it delivers so little. The ingredients are a mismatch. The distinct ingredients are so blended that it is boring. It does not project much. It is skin fragrance and only lasted 5hrs on my skin. I think this is a big disappointment from Dior for me. Not much originality, too safe and generic.

missrukia

This perfume is strong, with citrus and flowers. At the end of the day it is "gourmand" with vanilla.

tanzp

This is way stronger than the original much nicer .its a win for me beautiful dior it right on the nose with this one.

auroramaria

I must admit that original Joy does not appeal to me that much I find it too light for my taste however when I tried Joy Intense I fell in love and purchased a bottle the day after testing.Intense has the same floral citrus base of the original but bere all notes are amplified and the scent is enriched with beautiful vanilla and tonka to add sweetness and a powdery nuance to the fragrance. It is a very modern and elegant scent and leaves an amazing tra il on a chilly Fall night.

Vikki1985

On first spray and for the first few minutes this smelt ancient, I hate to say it but it smelt really old fashioned, it then begins to develop into something quite lovely, I kinda liked it at that point, so if you dont like the beginning give it time to unfold..it then dries completely down and smells like liquid soap that they have in dispensers in toilets, a kinda pretty liquid soap but I wouldn't want to smell like it.

It's an ok fragrance but to me nothing special, I've found cheaper perfumes that smell a hell of alot nicer than this aswell. I actually prefer the original alot more, I would never pay what it's being sold for as I said on the review of that one, it is a very soft one dimensional powdery floral and so the price should reflect that like all soft perfumes should, I loved the original but couldn't spend that amount on it.

Overall this is "meh" for me

AnitaHendricks

This perfume is nice but not very unique to my nose. It does last for a long time. I used a dash on my wrists in the morning and I still smell it now, late in the evening. That's a great preformance! It's not a heavy scent at all. You could wear it casually. I like the jasmine, rose and vanilla notes!

anonymousse

The drydown is a rip off of Allure Sensuelle. The original Chanel is better.

Lauren528

This is the spicy Tonka bean version of the original. It smells like flower eau de vie

SailorV

This will be a review only about Joy Intense, which I got as a sample with a purchase. I have only quickly sprayed the original Joy on paper and am not really interested to try it further, so I can‘t compare them. Neither have I ever sprayed Chanel Allure on my skin.

But still, Joy Intense smells kind of familiar. In my opinion it‘s a very 2019 kind of fragrance. The opening is full of bracing citrus, which I find a little too sharp and lemony. Underneath that is a heart of a creamy jasmine and musk combination I have smelled a thousand times before and generally enjoy. There is also a syrupy sweet rose in this and I definitely get a hint of patchouli even though it‘s not listed. The drydown is quite nice and develops some depth when the creamy florals dance around the tonka beans and vanilla.
It‘s a nice perfume and I was positively surprised how much it changes on my skin. A safe gift for someone who likes sweet pink florals and big designer names, but not a standout in any way. While it‘s long-lasting, I don‘t find the scent especially intense. It‘s very suitable for daytime wear in my opinion, as it‘s a fresh and elegant blend of the most mainstream, universally well-received notes.

Fluffyandpuffy

This one is fresh and cozy at the same time, leaves a powdery trail. Pretty.

EmHamburg

After the first spray it was a nice citrus floral generic smell, but the drydown turns into synthetic and pungent Jasmin that I can't stand.. and lasts ages. I tried on clothes and on my skin with the same results for two days but had to give it away.. And the sad part: it's still a dupe of Allure Chanel.

lmwimsatt

But this is actually much weaker than the original!

chimidoro

I find this (could be, might be, potentially) nicer (or at least a little more unique) than the original version, however it appears to be completely incompatible with my skin! It turns sour within moments of application and is absolutely unpleasant to my nose.

I believe this to be an issue with my skin and would warn that others really ought to try on skin before buying as it seems to be one of those (which nowadays are actually, sadly, few and far between) that change dependant on your skin balance at that time.
This is a big "no" for me. It truly smells far too thick, tangy and sour on my skin. Something is definitely amiss and does not smell right.

I have experienced this self same issue, the same tartness/sourness with the scent "Enchanted" by Chopard. These two scents, on my skin, are very close relatives. Even down to the strange plummy fruity note, which nothing in the notes here accounts for! (The rose & jasmin combo?)
The self same misfortune befell Enchanted on application to my skin also. Grotesque. Another "Fruitchouli" with an "edge".

"Try before you buy" (or buy Chopard's Enchanted for less and save yourself a pretty penny. My bad?)

Longevity is pretty astounding. Could not shake this for the life of me. Lasted all day and into the night.

Gourmandlover

After all those perfumes I have smelled the last few years, I'm still not good at picking notes, I just can't. But it doesn't stop me from loving a perfume, I only wonder how the fragrance experience must be for someone who can pick out the different accords etc. Now for joy intense; the first time I sprayed it on, it reminded me of 2 other perfumes. Shalimar and Chanel allure sensuelle and while I'm typing this, coco mademoiselle intense comes to mind too. It may sound completely strange to others, but those were my impressions. They're not the same ofcourse, but maybe they do share some notes/feelings. Good sillage and staying power. And for me it falls in the cuddly, cozy and warm scents category :). Different from the joy edp, that one seemed more fresh to me, also with some warmth in it, but not like the intense version.

kasey_skywalker

Wow! This is a surprise. This is the mother or older sister of Dior Poison Girl EDT. If you compare the two, the tonka and vanilla combo is very distinctly Dior and you smell it as a very prominent centerpiece in the lineup of notes for each fragrance. I really feel like this is Poison Woman to Poison Girl. Much nicer than “Joy by Dior”.

Or alternatively, this is Narciso Rodriguez for her EDP AND poison Girl’s love child.

Elsee

Perfection.

masako_30

Huge enhancement of olfactory perception of the ingredients, rose finds it difficult to be discovered, even for me.
Joy Intense doesn't completely dissolve the Allure factor, it can still be perceived in this equally long-lived scent with a different kind of irradiation, here on my wrist, compared to Joy.

But swim upstream, I personally find the first Joy' formulation much more attractive and harmonious, although my intent is not to diminish this intense concentration at all.
I don't know, the first one has a texture that blends optimally, blurs it, I can't explain, it gives something unveiled that involves me as a thick mist, a nebula, like tender powder or gentle fading dust, such as to make it much more affable towards me.

genny17

Joy Intense is definitely worth buying, I find it stays nicely on clothes, and sitting here I can smell it although I sprayed it a few hours ago...I work in an office and have people commenting on it..so it isn't like super light..
I am not a fan of monster sillage perfumes, I find Joy Intense pretty, t has character, it is stylish, it is lovely to wear..I have no complaints with it...I cant believe some reviewers call it weak and boring!?
What does it take now for people to just appreciate a pretty stylish perfume !?
The French chic all the way.

pip41uk

I received a sample of this today and am currently wearing it on one wrist to compare it with the previous Dior Joy on the other. Both perfumes are lovely but Intense has a certain sweetness to it that I like a lot better. It does remind me of Coco Mademoiselle in some respects however Mademoiselle is a lot heavier on me and lacks the sweet note. As always whether or not I buy this depends on the longevity. I like it but there's no way I'm going to pay that kind of money if it doesn't last.

Charess

Initially, Joy Intense smells very fresh and bright, with a lot of bergamot and neroli. I honestly thought 'here we go again, another 'intense' perfume that smells fresh and boring'. But I was wrong. After 30 minutes, Joy Intense gets much deeper and yes, intenser! Hello there, sultry rose, sexy tonka and seductive sandalwood! Plus a beautiful dry, non-sweet vanilla. In this stage, Joy Intense reminds me a lot of Coco Noir, actually. In the drydown, she doesn't smell so oriental anymore, but more soft and musky, with some jasmin and rose. The musk smells very light and vanilla-like, it is not the 'clean musk' that can, for example, be found in many Narciso's.
Sillage is moderate, longevity is about 6-7 hours.

I find the original Joy nice, but boring. Joy Intense is however a very beautiful fragrance. a 100 times better than the original, if you ask me. Well done, Dior!

mauryji

I. something in it reminds me of some female 2000s ferragamo perfumes
II. better than the first one
III. light years better

raiza1990

Very powdery, a bit sweet and transparent (if you know what i mean). It's nice. Certainly more interesting than the original Joy but i am still underwhelmed. Apart from that, the opening has a chemical clean touch that i don't really like. In this genre Rose-Musk, i prefer Narciso Rouge edt.
Sillage is soft, longevity moderate.
Final note: 6,5/10

hedward

A gargantuan improvement on the original Joy both in scent and bottle. Basically they did the Coco Mademoiselle treatment to the original and called it a day - add a heavy dose of sweetened fractionated patchouli. Not very original but the success of Coco Mademoiselle (allegedly a formula made with little effort) proved that the sharp citrus floral plus clean patchouli is a universally enjoyed combo. Here in all the same parts, but this time fruitier and sweeter. A crowd pleaser yet nothing to get excited about.

MLK

I LOVE this new version of Joy. I am wearing it today, it develops into this soft, powdery, tonka and vanilla skin scent after a few hours. It is very warm and comforting, I am so glad that I purchased it. I felt that the original Joy was too similar to Chanel's Allure (which is still good), but this one is totally in a line of its own and I think that is due to the creamy tonka, vanilla and sandalwood. I have been wearing it for 5 hours now and I can still smell it on me, long lasting and dries down to a very warm, powdery tonka/vanilla combo.

Auragin

This started out as "just another nice smell," but the dry down is yielding a certain spiciness that is quite lovely. A good office scent for sure. It has some lasting power, but I'm not noticing immense sillage. The more I breathe it in, the more I like it. I'm working off of samples, and I don't think I will rush out and purchase, but I will certainly keep this in mind as a light and airy scent when needed! Not cloying and not too sharp. I get the citrus, musk and sandalwood, along with the ever-present vanilla mixed with a dash of rose. Sweet and pleasant!

Adina Galani

103 euros for a 50 mls bottle? I don't think so. As much as I love a few pillar-fragrances from Dior, like Poison original, Dioressence, Diorama, Miss Dior Original, I deeply doubt I want to spend that much on a main stream. Awaiting a... Noir edition, maybe? Dior?

Editted the 02 of October 2019: Hey wait! That drydown! That is a little wow thing! It is surely Dior-ish and I am not sure, for the sake of me, if my money purse is secure anymore. Have to re- think a little.... Well, it is still too expensive I guess and..... For the dry down? Only? Now this is the vanilla I love! Bitter, mean and a bit sexy! Well well, not bad after all, not on my skin!

craftymaya

It is very nice. Creamy and sweet. Is it me or anyone else is getting a slight popcorn note? A delicate saltiness to the vanilla tonka... maybe the combo with sandalwood? Very nice! Well done and rounded. Feminine and elegant. Sprayed 5 hrs ago and can still smell it.

Lauren528

Intense joy smells like so many other things that came out this year and i dont like this one

zsu_13

I was walking around at Ibiza's duty free section and found this beauty. I swear I wanted to check the original Joy's price but I saw this for first and tested it. It's more intense than the other one, reminds me a little bit of Miss Dior (2017 edition) and I absolutely loved it. The scent was long lasting since I was able to smell it after my flight, almost until went to bed. I will definitely give it a try next time buying it in Mueller.

*UPDATE*

I purchased this scent a week ago and I'm still in love with it: classy, elegant, chic ans sophisticated for me. I receive a lot of compliments from my colleagues and it's long lasting. Classic Dior.

genny17

I really like Dior Joy, but I REALLY like the intense version...got my bottle direct from Dior France..whereas the first one is a nice floral chypre , Intense Is more., that is how I will describe it, it has something more that makes it more appealing, more complete, more finished..I catch whiffs of the neroli, it gives the scent a bright rounded aura, like a note of a warm climate sunset, t is less floral than the original, it has more notes, it is in a way even more balanced..where I see myself wearing the first one in spring and summer, Intense will be good in colder weather...as it has a warm enticing vibe..I don't detect too much rose, no patchouli either, the tonka is very light here too..Demachy is a master at balancing his creations artfully...the notes melt into each other, not one that screams in that stylish beautiful perfume...glad Dior went for an intense version, as the original is a bit too chypre for my taste..I believe I will get as many compliments wearing the Intense version as I did wearing the original..longevity is good, it stays on clothes very nicely..but it isn't a heavy scent...it is french elegance in a pink bottle..
happy to have it!

Gail14

I agree with a review below. There is Patchouli in this, but it's not listed in the notes. This is much better than the original.

Germany

Absolutely love this !!!!
But super light and airy.

It’s so hard to review this one , been wearing it for days but did not know how to even describe it. The bottle is a definite improvement as it it has nice glass cut outs , more special as the first . Also it has a better sprayer , the continues one which I love. So you get those looong nice sprays rather than the short spouts of spray. BUT it is NOT intense. It’s rather AIRY , barely there, i actually can’t smell it very much at all. However when i do smell it and put my nose to it i love it !!! Like crazy love it.
As much as i like the original I prefer this one as far as the actual smell goes. But I really wish it was much stronger. However I love the “ airy feel “ and this is part of the lightness. I keep wanting more when I smell it yet the cloudy soft feel pleases me at the same time. I know it’s contradictory,,that’s why I haven’t reviewed it so far , it’s very hard to write about. This smell in stronger would make me want to stop searching for the perfect perfume as this is soooooo good !! I see that quite a few people feel the same way about it’s airy and lightness , it’s a skin scent for sure. It still smells quite a bit like the original but less intense and less woody , less old school , less 80 s . ...More rose and balsamic vanilla feel. Its sweeter . It has that Nivea cream smell of balsamic fresh ,spicy powdery aroma . Yes it’s aromatic and has some citrus in the opening which feels fresh like Nivea cream. Has more sweetness than the original and love the added Tonka bean. Lots and lots of Tonka here. I absolute adore the smell , right now my number one !! But I will need to spray abundant amounts ! It’s dense but light. Very different !
So far no compliments that must be because it’s so airy and no one can smell it.
I dig my nose in it and love it !!!

Omg this is stunning a real beauty I need this lady in my life way way better than the first one

I stopped by Macy’s today to test Dior’s new Joy Intense. Color me very pleasantly surprised. The original disappointed me—not because I didn’t like it, but because it smelled so similar to Chanel’s Allure, and, well, Chanel did it first and better. While this new “intense” version isn’t groundbreaking, it’s quite good, and a major improvement on its predecessor. Yes, this retains the Allure-ness of the original, but it emerges noticeably only in the dry-down. And unlike the original, the Allure-ness here is surrounded by a billowing rose and layer after layer of musk, granting it a distinct character.

Dior hasn’t just upgraded the scent profile; the longevity and sillage have also gotten lifts. This stuff has POWER. My nose doesn’t perceive it as strong or cloying; in fact, there’s an airiness to the scent throughout its long life. I liken the wear to Baccarat Rouge 540, not because of the smell (there’s no similarity), but because of the odd sillage. It projects far from the body, always with an unbelievable lightness. And like BR540, Joy Intense lingers in rooms and hallways that you’ve passed through. People will notice you. You will get compliments. I’m on two and counting for the day.

Needless to say, I swiped my credit card and left the store with a bottle. Do your nose a favor, and check out Joy 2.0!

Rose du soir

Dior mixed equal parts of Joy, Narciso Rodriguez For Her EdP and a 90s perfumey floral. It seems like the original Dior Joy at first, but goes more and more rosy and musky, sniffed on skin it's nothing special, but from a distance it smells fantastic and alluring, somewhat reminiscent of Givenchy Dahlia Noir. It has great sillage, people can't not notice it. I have no interest in the original Dior Joy, which is much too citrusy and not substantially floral enough for my taste, like many recent fragrances ; but Joy Intense has far more floral character and isn't afraid of smelling like roses and women's perfume (and not girls' sugary perfume !), a rarity these days. Ageless and Feminine with a capital F. Good job Dior !

Edit : patchouli is a missing note listed on Dior. I can smell it in the drydown, clearly but softly in the background.

This is a far better version of Joy. I don't know about more intense, but I do know it's a lot more floral. Rose, specifically, can actually be detected strongly. Still mildly reminds me of Allure Sensuelle, but now it's actually a little more different and a little more nouveau Dior with similarities to modern Miss Dior. Lasts a while, too.

Starts up as a fresh citric floral. My skin amplifies the magnolia very soon. While not groundbreaking, it is a solid white floral with a luminous late spring, early summer vibe. The vanilla renders some modern sweetness but it is not excessive. Enjoyable, but wouldn't buy it for myself. I think I would prefer it without the vanilla notes.

===

Retested in December 2020: I would indeed prefer it without the vanilla, which makes this fragrance smell a bit "like every other modern perfume". The initial bright citrus and almost juicy magnolia are pleasant and I wish it had more citrus and less vanilla.

Ghosty

I don't get what has been happening for a few years with perfumes. The quantity prevails quality. This applies also for Joy Intense. Cloying vanilla - musk combo, after few hours smells like a dirty clothes or dirty head. Just not nice.
I wish Dior brought back Midnight Poison with some modern twist.

I love this ❤️ I didn’t really like the original Joy it just wasn’t enough for me and I found it a little bland, quite a safe perfume for work. But this is really good and I didn’t expect to like it so much. Like the reviews below it does have something retro about it that I just can’t put my finger on, it smells like a perfume I’ve worn in the past that I miss. I hope someone comes on here soon and names it because it’s really bugging me. I do think the top notes go to the base notes quickly and I didn’t get much of the middle rose notes. The base is amazing and I have been stopped at the supermarket already by men to ask me to write down the name of this perfume, this was hours after putting it on. Try it even if you didn’t love the original 😘

I will be with the not very popular opinion and say I do not love this. Joy edp intense is definetely a more dynamic sister to the original. However it still smells on me like a combination of My Burberry and Allure from Chanel. It has great longevity and decent silage. For Joy lovers and for those who missed the staying power in the original the Intense will be your fave.

Vanian

Just to say a huge thank you to F.Demachy for bringing this to the audience. It is new but in the same time retro and imo it is addressed to all the people who are constantly 'moaning' to the fragrance houses to bring back the classics from the 80s and 90s. This is it people, test it enjoy it.

Chazas

All I can say it is incredible and sultry, to my nose a big improvement over previous Joy, it really stands for the Intense as its performance packs a punch. It is simple, yet complex enough, it is like a combination between Miss Dior EDT and J'adore L'absolu. Would not mind smelling it frequently on significant other, it is really appealing, delicate and feminine in the most positive way.

Way better of a flanker than compared to a new Sauvage.

I placed an online order for make-up from a department store and it arrived yesterday with a few samples. I was not paying proper attention; I thought I'd received some samples of Joy by Dior. Despite the fact that I'd previously detected a headache note, I thought I'd give it another try.

I was absolutely enchanted by the fragrance. It was so much warmer than I'd remembered, a modern, youthful rosy citrus that has a suggestion of a retro floral in the dry down. The only let-down was the longevity, though in its defense, it was a very hot and active day yesterday, so perhaps not the fairest or most accurate measure of longevity. Also, while it was gone from my skin, it was still very present on my clothes. Sillage and projection were really decent until it wore off the skin, but again, very detectable on fabric. I was so in love with the fragrance that I sprayed a little more on before bed.

Anyway, my 180-degree turn on the fragrance drove me to Google Joy today to see if there were any deals running, and that's when Google autocomplete exposed my lack of attention: there was now a Joy EDP Intense. I quickly checked the sample bottle, and sure enough, the intoxicating fragrance is, in fact, Joy EDP Intense.

I will definitely be buying this on its release. It is gorgeous. And I reiterate that I was not really a fan of the original.

There's something that Joy Intense shares in common with Mon Guerlain Florale - - a certain (non-gourmand) sweetness and warmth. If you like one, you might just well like the other.

2021 Edit: I did invest in the 100mL, and have zero regrets. This is an absolute favourite; I wear it very frequently and the bottle isn’t even half gone. It’s well worth the money if you love this fragrance as much as I do.

September.. can't wait to smell this new version

I was able to get a sample at Dillards and wear this for a few days. I like the original Joy, but not quite enough to buy a full bottle. I have to admit though, this Joy Intense flanker is SO much better. It is a stronger, sweeter, and creamier floral than the original, with more rose. I don't know if I'd necessarily call it an "intense" scent though. This opens up slightly citrusy and fresh, I guess from the bergamot and neroli, but soon the other florals - especially the rose - slip in and steal the show. The original Joy felt like a "pretty in pink" perfume to me, and the rose in this scent takes it one step further. It is a bright pink rose to me, not syrupy or jammy like a deep red rose, but there is still a kind of sweetness that comes from the vanilla and the lovely rich, slightly powdery tonka. I do notice the musk and sandalwood in the dry-down but I wouldn't call it an overly woody scent, the sandalwood just keeps it warm throughout. It seems relatively longer lasting than the original, but longevity is still an issue and I think most people will say it's rather weak for something named "intense." I think if you mixed together Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming with Lancôme La Vie Est Belle En Rose you'd get something that smells similar to this Joy Intense. They aren't dupes of this by any means, and neither one on its own is similar enough for me to include them in the "this perfume reminds me of" section above, but this smells like bits and pieces of those two perfumes mixed together. I will be buying a full size of this one when it's officially released. I wish it was actually intense in strength like the name implies, but it's pretty darn good!!!

Also, I totally vote that the next Joy flanker is a l'eau version, because I find myself suddenly needing a Beethoven-inspired word-play perfume entitled "L'eau de Joy."

jellybeantree

The original is classic and not very long lasting . Hope this will hold up better. Wow , new releases from ysl , Chanel and Dior . Ysl bringing out a pillar fragrance. There are so many flankers it’s really hard to keep up . I find the original is always better but I am open and curious to try them . Can’t wait !

All the expected “reviews” have shown up below. We were all waiting with bated breath for the quality content we’ve come to expect whenever Fragrantica adds a new release to the perfume index. The resulting burst of balloons unites us all in a most stellar kumbaya moment.

nannaje

ALL my favorite notes and also NO hateful pink pepper??? Hold my beer!!!!!

COSMICSCENTS

I want it and whatever flanker they come out with in this beautiful perfume. It stold my heart in a very short time and went on my Fragrantica top 5 shelf. I love it and everything about it, of course the scent, but also the bottle with the magnetic silver pretty cap which looks like beautiful silver thread, the pink juice and the name :)

@ joy de FLOUR lMAOOOOO

I love parfums.. didn't get the first one maybe this one .. we'll see..

Here we go again. In a short period of time we may expect: L'eau Joy, Joy L'absolue, Joy Elixir, Joy Extrait, EnJoy, Joy de flour, Joy Blooming Bouquet and many other. All over again. Sooo predictable.

EmiliaAnnika

A flanker called "intense". I never would have guessed.

I<3Perfume

I knew they were gonna pull this stunt! With Gabrielle Essence, Lancome Idole, YSLs Libre, Nina Rouge, L'interdit EDT etc I knew they would pull a stunt like this just to put a horse in the race.
