Aromatics in White by Clinique is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Aromatics in White was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Nicolas Beaulieu. Top notes are Labdanum, Sichuan Pepper and Violet Leaf; middle notes are Rose, Patchouli and Orange Blossom; base notes are Musk, Amber, Benzoin and Vanilla.

White color definitely replaces the years-long trend of black color. One fragrance in the long line of very interesting editions arrives from the house of Clinique as a successor of the classic from 1971—Aromatics Elixir. As the oldest fragrance of the house of Clinique, Aromatics Elixir takes special place in the collection of the house but also an envious place for the quality of the composition in the perfume industry in general. Its chypre-floral composition highlights tart floral essences of carnation and rose, cooled with aldehydes and moss.

The opulence of aromas of Aromatics Elixir has been modernized with Aromatics Elixir Sheer Velvet Philtre Sensuel from 2006 and Aromatics Elixir Perfumer's Reserve from 2011, and in Autumn 2014 the new face of the first Clinique fragrance receives sophisticated contemporary style.

"I have always been fascinated with the magic of Aromatics Elixir and its attraction on the skin. I wanted to convey that feeling with a new, modern composition," stated perfumer Nicolas Beaulieu on the occasion of creating Aromatics in White.

In October 2014 Clinique presents Aromatics in White, a women’s fragrance which lures with tart notes of Sichuan pepper, elegant violet leaves and labdanum in top notes. The gentle transition towards the heart comes with floral shades of roses and orange blossom, surrounded with patchouli, creating a harmonious union of floral and earthy textures. Depth and sensual aromas are ensured by leather musk, intertwined with warm grey amber, benzoin and vanilla. United this way, they leave a soft, oriental signature in the base. The new composition by Clinique is signed by perfumer Nicolas Beaulieu.

Fragrance Aromatics in White arrives in a white flacon following the style and form of its antecedents, and has been modernized with an elegant white cap. The flacon has been embellished discretely with golden color details (a thin rim on the cap and name inscribed in gold). Expected on the market on November 1, 2014.

Fluffy, powdery pretty scent. Love it

SaraKa

Smells like an earthy rose combined with sichuan pepper. Super pleasant. Didn't expect myself to like the pepper note so much. Drydown is musky and the earthy vibe fades.

jameswestcott

I generally like fragrances for myself because they feel good to wear, like a beautiful golden cloud of protection shimmering around me, and I seldom pay attention to anything others wear. So it's a rarity that something really grabs me on another person. Today as I strolled through the kitchen, I smelled this on my wife and immediately was drawn to kiss her pale neck and get a more thorough sampling of this beautiful scent. It's really that good. Only two other fragrances have really made my heart leap like this, and to a lesser degree. Eau d'Iparie - a romantic encounter amongst the antique wood and books and flowers in a historic French chateau in the countryside, or the cold, clean bouquet of Malle's Carnal Flower.

BecCahillBurgess

One of my favorite perfumes😍 Only wish it wasn’t so expensive for so little product🥲 Can’t put into words how this perfume smells. Only that it reminds me of spending time with my nan🤷♀️

Ssimssim

Bought this as a blind buy - it was on special and I read some reviews.

While some people said it isn’t white … to my nose and on my skin it’s pure white. I get buckets of powder and not much else.

Wearing it on a hot and humid summer day and I feel clean.

It reminds me a little of Shalimar.

It’s a bit old lady, but nice nice, clean clean. On me it smells minimal, close to the skin, and yeah…. Just powdery. Easy to wear and comforting. I like it.

KateWest

Smells like it's made with natural ingredients and smells more expensive than it costs. Really beautiful, comforting scent.

supersaiyan

Mix of the patchouli and rose in Lalique Perles de Lalique and the musk in Romantina! Interesting but I don’t need it, it also smelled “confusing” to my boyfriend. Slightly savoury.

LiliiiS

the opening is sharp and is like a love child of TF White Patchouli and Estee Lauder Pleasure(I'm not a fan of any of those). an almost scrachy blend of musky florals and patchouli. but it settles down to something much softer and nicer. I can mostly detect a pretty and clean musky rose rounded by a light touch of warmer, creamier notes like amber and vanilla.in this phase it's what I expected Narciso Rodriguez for her EDP(the pink one) to be and it failed.
I'm not into patchouli and I hate labdanum and fortunately neither of them bother me here. I'm usually into gourmands and sweet floral vanillas and this genre of musk-amber-patchouli florals are not my biggest favorites; I also have more than enough perfumes in musky floral genre so I was hesitant to keep Clinique Aromatics in White but it's drydown is so gorgeous in a calm and ladylike way that I decided to keep it.
it has impressive sillage when first sprayed but it quickly settles down to close to skin range.the day after wearing it when I sniff my wrists there's this lovely clean scent which smells as if I have applied a luxurious floral body lotion so I can say the skin scent it leaves behind lasts almost 24 hours on my skin which is amazing.
BTW it has nothing to do with Clinique Aromatics Elixir which I hate and Clinique Aromatics in Black which I like a lot.

Lovaloo

Peppery opening, fruity rose shampoo, green herbal patchouli, abstract white flowers, clean creamy musks, and subtle "white" amber in the base. The deep drydown has a touch of vanilla. This is what I was hoping to find from the popular Narciso Rodriguez perfumes (they're all a bit harsh), but the clean, muted, refreshing musk of my dreams has come from Lauder. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Lauder work out their perfumes better than most.

Sophisticated, subtle, gentle, beautiful. The scent of an upscale moisturizer or lotion. One of the few modern releases I love and wear regularly. It's a relatively soft scent, but I am happy to have something this womanly at a reasonable price point. Thank you Lauder.

ncbluesky

I love the OG Aromatics Elixer and saw reviews that compared this Aromatics In White to TF White Patchouli. I found a sealed NIB bottle online. I had high expectations but this is a screechy floral patch with a distinct cat pee note in the opening. A strong disappointment.

Gyps

Powdery, musky floral. Soft and more of a body scent on my skin. Pretty and must be re-applied. I won’t be replacing the bottle I have.

Edit: Yuk. Violets 🤢

PKSMKE

In my opinion the violet leaf separates this from all the mediocre amber florals out there. Better than I expected.

MorganaM

Short lived, but lovely. It's cheap enough that you can reapply often, which you will need to do. The smell is divine, the drydown musky and comfortable. Wish it lasted longer.

MorganaM

I can definitely see why, on opening, Aromatics in White might remind someone of Nanette Lepore's Nanette. Very similar openings, but Nanette retains the rose throughout. Aromatics in White's sweeter florals move to the forefront quite quickly, and the rose fades as this fragrance settles. I could almost say there is a jasmine or gardenia waxy-creamy note that's not listed, but that could also just be the combination of deep florals giving that impression.

I love this for Summer. It is a warm June day, and while this is very present and no wallflower of a fragrance, it is not overpowering in any way. Wearing this may inspire me to tuck a flower behind one ear while wearing it on some warm and lovely Summer dusk.

This is lovely. I love Nanette, and consider it one of my favorite rose fragrances, but this is something I will enjoy for different reasons. It almost has a dark and dewy tropical jungle feel, and I envision lush, waxy jasmine and creamy gardenia flowers dripping with fragrant dew. It's nothing new, nothing novel, but still feels very fresh and wonderful to me.

alphairone

Aromatics in White is a reassuring hug after a few challenging weeks of moving to a new home. Finally settling in, I spray it and a big red rose envelops me, dusted with finishing powder, accompanied by a smiling orange blossom, tinted with a sheer amber and billowy musk.

There is nothing loud and furious here: it won't burst through the walls of a room like the Kool-Aid Man hollering "oh yeah!" with you trailing behind it. However, it does assert itself, it has something to say, so to speak. If perfumes could talk, what would they say?

The heart of the fragrance reminds me of rosy lychees in a light syrup, which is a good thing. I'll say yes to that. The dry down is limpid patchouli and the powder is more of a subtle trace.

Cherry Bloom

Too powdery and sharp. It literally scratches my senses. Not a purity inducing mood as i expected although the perfume is quite aromatic and quite "white". Strong pass for me.

Furs&FrAGErence

This, with the layering partner in black reminds me a bit of Chanel Co co mad. Sharp, pretty and musk like.
In a nushellmy opinion of AW is a Beautiful fragrance with poor longevity. Sharp patchouli on the skin. Not nearly as strong on the patchouli as the original, though. Definitely best as cloud on clothing like the original Aromatics. Price isn’t justifiable as I’d be replacing the bottle every 3 months. I certainly enjoyed the fragrance as the opening and dry down was very feminine. Particularly in the summer months. Loved the “morning (white) and evening (black)” layering concept.

Kathryn J.

I’m confused by this scent. It’s certainly not remotely like the original Aromatics. I don’t think it can be called a flanker. I don’t use it sparingly and after about an hour, I don’t smell it on ME but I do smell it on my clothing when I take it off at the end of the day. What’s that about? Am I anosmic to it?

It’s a perfectly pleasant scent and I’ll use the bottle up. I think of this as an everyday scent, musky/powdery. I’m glad I have it and now I want to try Aromatics in Black. I would say that this is one of the safer blind buys if you’re not expecting to be bowled over.

Maodo

The day after on my clothes: what a lovely delicate powder. Please put that in a bottle!

kurran100

This one smells exactly like warm cloudberry(snåttren or hjorton in Swedish) jam! It's insane and all other people I've asked agree with it lol Like yeah it does have other notes in there except the cloudberry jam one but if you're familiar with cloudberry, it will be very distracting.. it is a nice fragrance, soft and sweet with noticeable patchouli but for me the cloudberry jam note is too off putting :p I would definitely be more in love with it if I wasn't familiar with cloudberry, so I would recommend it to women who want a sweet everyday fragrance for the colder months but don't like the modern sugary ones. Almost blind buy appropriate. The dry down is kinda similar to Tom Ford White patchouli because they are both patchouli dominant, but they really don't have the same vibe. I think aromatics in white is more daytime cozy while white patchouli is more nighttime cool girl vibe B)

Maodo

Again, it's warm, comforting, mature and clean. It has the wonderful combination of ingredients without getting a mess. It's patchy, but not thick patchy. You can breath through it and still see the air. That's what I mean with 'clean'. It's a chique smell, female and elegant. And yet, i wear it everywhere. It doesn't scream and sits nearby. I love that little sweet in it. So refined that it never becomes girly.

s2jkbrad

This reminds me of something that I just can’t remember what it is! Maybe it The One by D &G but without the nasty plastic note, but it might be a Bond perfume. There is a very ‘high’ balsamic note that stays with me, mixed with rose and a sour green note, that must be mix of the violet leaf and pepper. Based on the bottle and brand and knowing nothing about it- I thought it would be more of a gardenia, tuberose, musk, patchouli, vanilla vibe. This is more unique but not in a modern way, more of a classic way. I can see the pepper, grape leaf, balsamic note, being ostracizing to some. The rose is a nice classic rose/rose like Damascus rose. I wouldn’t consider this a safe blind buy. It was a blind buy for me and a solid LIKE but not love and I like almost ALL perfumes. This DOES NOT SMELL like TF white patchouli. Tf is more sophisticated while this has more of a mom casual vibe. Totally worth the price- not at all oakmossy like the original or sweet and warm like the Black- but there’s an energy of the original Aromatics in this that is not in the Black version.

greenviolets

Reminds me of jason wu velvet rouge, but less sweet candy violet incense. They're sisters. This has more patchouli & rose, no smoky note. The opening was confusing to me but it quickly dried to a jammy powdery rose & violet. This is a grown up goth perfume. My high school self would have worn this every day. I still might. It wears close to the skin & seems versatile. The better color for the bottle would've been pale iridescent pink

Clairey15

This is one of my favourite perfumes. Its powdery and ambery, for me its a wifey smell. If you live somewhere very hot like i do (40c+ in summer) avoid it on your skin and put it on your clothes instead. It will last for days on your clothes but on your skin it breaks down to a bus stop kinda smell. But this is great for the office, for spraying on your winter coat, for daytime activities and if i want to wear it at night i layer it with musk oil and i can get a good 8 or so hours with it.

Dressed&Scented

I enjoy this one. On my skin, it settles into a Rosey Patchouli Musk. It’s warm, inviting.
All-seasonal. I’m wearing it in 90+ today. It’s not too much.
Yet, I find it has enough oomph to stand up to Spring and Fall weather. Nice for rainy days and gloomy cloudy days, in particular. Inoffensive but still interesting. Long lasting.
It has become a great grab and go when I’m indecisive. At the moment it’s in my purse and I use it to freshen up midday or early evening.
I also like it for bed. Truly a versatile number.

SmellsLikeMoneyWellSpent

Wonderful, all-year scent with vintage vibe. It smells like it could have been issued by Floris and it’s a top notch compliment from me ;)

Bouquet Bleu

Beautiful powerful love from first sniff. Passionate. It is a deeper and more rounded version of discontinued Miss Dior Le Parfum, but more mature, not losing the top notes, a more powdery amber with a present rose. Had I blindly bought it, I would love it anyways. I must get my bottle asap.
The white as a color choice is however misfit...I picture this scent rather scarlet, deep red, burgundy.

echurch1979

Let me get to the quick of it - this sent is amazing! Although its release occurred some time ago, it was only till this week that I finally smelled what so many have mentioned. Thinking it was a hyped-up sequel to the (in)famously complex Aromatics Elixir, who's chypre base is both as difficult to appreciate as it is to stop wanting to smell, I conveniently placed it on the back burner of commerce. Deadened with sighs recently, and a need to smell something newly wonderful, I cast away any dispersion, and went forth unfettered by prejudice, in purchasing a sleek bottle of my own. The bottle came so quickly from the box, it is as if it leapt into my hand: slick, white, minimal. It had me at hello. I've heard it said that the bottle itself, pristinely clad in angelic white, does not match the essence inside. I would emphatically disagree. White is exactly how I would begin to describe its contents. Smiling upon first spray, I leaned back instinctively, eyes closed in surrender to a heavenly eclipse. There is something so captivating when patchouli is allowed, to not only dominate, but fervently express its natural herbaceous luminosity. Labdanum and benzoin shine radiantly in an amber hue so bright, it becomes gilding. Orange blossom and rose aerate diaphanously; like sifting powdered sugar on angel wings. The talcum nature of violet and vanilla stir incessantly, lifting the floral pepperiness of Sichuan berries. The effect becomes an ethereal chant of joy, that I lament not trying sooner!

liucthenose

Elegant scent. Perfect for women in their 50s and older.

bear11

Aromatics in White has been one of my favourite scents for a long time! It is so cosy and warm, and once it dries down it is very creamy with a hint of rose. It is pretty affordable compared to other perfumes! Although some suggest it is a scent for a mature person, I personally disagree. I have been wearing this since I was 15. Once the headiness of the patchouli dies down after initial application, it is the most stunning milky, soft, sweet, rose scent that is incredibly long-lasting, especially on clothing. It also layers incredibly with lighter fruity florals. 100% recommend.

annelisemaurer2560

Sweet, soft, milky, cozy. Good for sleeping in when it's cold out.

Ferra_Verto

Powdery rose with a rich labdanum/amber/patchouli effect. It's very warm and enticing but very clean and fresh, the packaging is quite fitting. Similar to TF White Patchouli, but not identical. TF's reads more powdery to me than this.

zara0203

Bought it only for the labdanum and violet, but on my skin i can only get orange blossom, violet, clean musk and vanilla. Nice and pleasant, but pale in comparison with the good old one Aromatics Elixir.

Wwoman

On me this has nothing in common with the original Aromatics Elixir - it is softly floral while having strong amber and benzoin components. I like the notes, but I also like that it isn't a beast longevity and projection wise. AE is just too strong for me.

sparklyunicorn

Wow, I am impressed. This is my first impression of this scent, but it is gorgeous. So rich and so many delicious components. What struck me at first was that I smelled oud, and I thought I was losing it. But it does give off that vibe, and then I also get the roses, and the soft pepper, and the amber and musk. Wow, it is striking. The most delicious and satisfying blind buy purchase I have made this month. Clinique AE line so far does not disappoint.

Navegarblue

Am really enjoying this perfume now that the weather has cooled down.

I find it has body, depth and it moves in stages. The impression I get is that of a moss and violet tinged velvety opening, followed by finely dosed patchouli sprinkled rose, resting on a sappy, milky wooden base. More so than the original Aromatics Elixir, with which I detect some similarities in the top notes, it reminds me of TF’s White Patchouli (as some have already suggested), and also of Narciso by NR - the dry patchouli and rose of the former, combined with the milky feel of the latter, however, unlike those two, I can wear Aromatics in White without growing tired of its notes - it stays with me all day and it’s great company.

I’ve had several compliments at work and whilst going out, and that’s always nice, eh.

zind

I went in to the store to try aromatics in Black which they didn't have, so I received two generous sprays of this instead.

Sadly, a dominant rose is a big no for me and this is certainly rose heavy! (I didn't know the notes when I asked to try it) Oh boy, I love everything else going on in the background but buckets of rose make AE in white come off a very soapy and dated to me. I'm sure this is beautiful if you love rose dominant scents that are not sweet and also like your perfumes powdery, musky and balsamic (i love how the labdanum is pretty obvious here!)

mirrorghost

i like this right from the beginning-i get an ambery musky rose with labdanum and patchouli. later on i think i smell little hints of orange blossom. this is very pretty and i am really glad i was able to track down a small bottle. i quite like this and probably need a big bottle.

Seaworthy

I have worn this fragrance for the past two days while on vacation at the beach, during cool weather. The fragrance is a floral heavy on the patch which I love. The longevity and sillage is pathetic. Truly disappointing as the original Aromatics Elixer is a beast on me.

delightme5

This has ! a bit of that Aerin (lauder) feel to it.
Aren't they all linked somewhat ?

I like it a lot, its not as innocently white as you may expect ! But it is lovely. Heavier than white may suggest - yet not very lasting to my nose.
Mainly this is about roses and the patchouli to me, with faint traces of violet leaf.
And, I've worked out what it kept reminding me of..?
SI INTENSE. The body of each is different. SII thicker fuller less skeletal and perhaps a bit more "Aromatic".. the Irony of that right there. It shouldn't matter though.. If you like this theme, as i very much do, you can choose the one that sits best on you.

Itstartedwithtinkerbell

I had read about this and my curiosity was piqued enough that I ordered a little spray bottle on Amazon for $5.99 with free shipping. I have ended up really loving this! It is interesting, like I want to smell it on my skin because it keeps me curious. I get a zesty note that has zing, and a floral note like a rose, and patchouli. In a strange way it reminds me at times of Chanel Coco Madamoiselle...not sure why. I have been on a big testing and blind buying binge, and this is the one I keep reaching for over everything else, and to me that always speaks louder than anything. Full bottle in my future for sure. I’ve never smelled the other versions of Aromatics.

GinCatsBooks

Aromatics In White is what I associate with a magical forest, its icy, but, warm. It smells almost like someone, kneeling down in an old, stone building is holding a frozen, deep red rose in one hand close to the flame of a lighter in their other hand; smoky, burning roses. At least, thats what I can picture in my head whenever I smell it.

Mental images aside, AIW presents itself to me as quite a good universal winter, spring and fall scent, I can detect a lot of the rose and musk in this as well as some labdanum and benzoin, when first sprayed I can pick out the pepper and violet, but after roughly 15 minutes it dries down into this wonderful smoky, incense-y rose, with some of the patchouli, musk, labdanum and benzoin dancing around in the background.

AIW is too much for the warmer weather, because of its incense quality and prominent rose notes, it becomes very heady and cloying, its best enjoyed in the cooler and freezing cold months in my opinion, the person I can picture wearing it is someone thats slightly witchy and mysterious, someone that wears black (contrary to the name; Aromatics In White), someone who is in touch with their spiritual side, its quite an understated fragrance I think, its simply divine!

Longevity is pretty decent with AIW, I can wear it from 7:30am and still smell it by 5:00pm, its not a super projecting scent, but it does have quite a soft wafty sort of trail, very unlikely to offend, but when someone gets close it will gather compliments, its quite ageless and because of how incense-y it is, its also pretty unisex in my view, though I feel that if you like something you should wear it.

Would I repurchase? yes, definitely, its an easy scent to dress up or dress down, it always feels appropriate, its got a wonderful rosey, musky, incense-y dry down and the shot of patchouli, benzoin, violet and pepper keep it feeling interesting and unusual

Anamandy

This is such a rich, full-bodied scent. The only other perfume I've tried from this line, the black elixir, I absolutely love. This is no lighter than the black, but it's a lot creamier and cleaner. Honestly, I don't smell any flowers in this except for the slight soapiness of orange blossom. Everyone keeps mentioning rose but I'm not smelling it. Then again, this is only my first wearing so still haven't gotten the full feel of it. What I do get right off the bat is amber, musk, patchouli, benzoin, and very subtle spices. This is a very unique, well blended scent, that doesn't call to mind anything I've ever smelled to date. Instant love.

Update - I decided to go full hog and do a full wearing and now I am getting the rose very heavy right off the top. Reminds me of the patchouli rose in Agent Provocateur though a little jammy. My favorite part is still midway through the scent. So satisfying. It's like aromatherapy for me.

TheodoraThea

I've owned this perfume for quite a few years now and still find it intriguing. It opens up with some heavy rose scent, probably majorly influenced by patchouli. Being a huge fan of rose scents I find this particular perfume unique and very much the original Elixir inspired. The best timing for it is definitely late autumn and winter when the weather is very much on its colder side. It won't go well in humid and hot climate. It lasts for quite a long time, I'd say fro 6 to 8 hours in my skin, mostly due to the musk and amber in its base. I also have to say that the top notes in this one are barely noticeable being heavily dominated by rose and patchouli, although it is daytime appropriate.
I strongly advise you to give it a try if you like rose scents - it might surprise you.
Also, applauds on the minimalist, uniquely appealing white glass bottle - looks completely gorgeous, so pleasing to look at!

camden-girl

Give this perfume time , as it may take a bit of getting used too.
At first this smelled like rubbing alcohol, and a musky patchouli.🚽🧻toilet cleaning products!
Not much else. No character and weird I thought....
I was just about to get rid of my blind buy on eBay but decided to give it more testing as my nose breaks for days sometimes weeks at a time ! I wasn’t giving in that easily!
Plus my hubby and daughter liked this so I gave it more of a chance :what were they getting 🤔?

Thank the perfume gods as ....
Today I’m not getting rubbing alcohol ( from amber Gris ?) instead I’m getting the sweetest angelic white amber scent , that aged amber Gris whale vomit is stunning with an
icy rose which warms up nicely from the benzoin.
Last week these lovely notes felt cold sterile and just not me. What’s going on ?
This is a real chameleon, today a sweet musk is obvious and the incense is just cutting lightly through the rose 🌹, powdery notes make this just gorgeous and I like very much the soft white / clean notes , classy veil thin petals and skin musks , mmm, rose water is just hidden behind a vanilla bean and violet leaf 🍃

Clean, 🛁🧽soapy, milky,🥛🍼🍶 musky, angelic 💕inoffensive yet just enough to pull you back in and keep the interest. Baby powder and soft clean laundry scent !

Grows on you 💋

AE in White

Oh, the lovely AE in White. The bottle, though based on the badass "non-conformist" original, fits this perfume perfectly: All white and soft and smooth with a translucent, wholesome beauty. I like this a lot.

This scent is above all sweet, creamy, musky, and smooth. When first sprayed on there is a hit of orange blossom rose, which quickly transitions into a peachy sweet patchouli rose, surrounded by a pleasantly green and slightly bitter violet in the background. The violet is dusted with a nice shake of dry black pepper. It's faint, and even a bit jarring if you look for it, but the pepper, but it goes nicely with the sweetness of the peachy rose. That and enveloping all this is the creamy musk! So creamy that it reminds me of a luxe body cream--for the first few hours I feel like I'm wearing an antique body cream, a white cream with rose, violet, patchouli blended in.

AE in White really changes in the dry down, the florals fade off and the amber takes over. That peach note is still there though, a peachy amber that has a hint of smoking labdanum. The musk is still there but it’s less creamy. The final stages are a wisp of vanilla.

I really like the interesting subtlety of some of the underlying notes. Like I said I find the personality of this to be creamy and sweet—the musk, roses, amber etc. are all smooth and sweet. But the violet is green, the pepper is dry and almost bitter, the labdanum is a little dirty.

Lasting power is great, and the sillage is noticeable but polite on my skin. Right now this stuff is on Ebay for a mere $25 for 50 mls which is frankly cheap.

Scentjoy

Aromatics in white is very much like Ajmal Senora! I really like them.

Cathped

Spicy. Better in the drydown than in the beginning. Has a strange undefinable note that stands out when you first spray it. Luckily it dissappears, but it sure must have scared some away from it. But all in all a good perfume.

evapap181977

not as loud as the MOTHER but for me its more interesting, slightly similar to wp by tf but this is refined and more femminine.i prefer it from the classic because im tired of smelling it everywhere .plus as much as i like it i think i got tired after all these years having it as one of my regulars.so this is the right replacement!but im curious about the black bottle.i agrre with another reviewer that this is an excellent patchouli based scent for me the best by far!ideal for summer!EDIT.the longevity is indeed a problemin my opinion the projection is the issue here..it s becoming a skin scent very soon. although a wonderful and very sexy one!

I remember swooning when I first smelled Tom Ford's White Patchouli. Unfortunately, once I got a 5ml decant and used it up, I was completely over that scent and found it harsh and headache-inducing. This didn't make me swoon. But it certainly reminds me of the TFWP. It's a very interesting composition (not unique since it pretty clearly seems to follow the WP trend, but still very interesting). It is a sort of clean and fresh patch that can be very easily worn in the heat (which I'm a fan of).

TO me, if you like patch, this is a great scent. For someone like me who enjoys it when it's blended well, but doesn't love it, this scent is something I love to smell, but I'm not sure I need it. I think I might try the Armaf just for fun and see if that suits me more or the same (or less). I'm toying with how much I need this. But I can't help but love it!

annxyz

This is a pleasant scent , though not particularly unique. The packaging is nice also. Unfortunately their perfume vanishes very quickly and does not have longevity, as stated in previous reviews.

Cispera Espera

I know it's for women, but I like this juice. I bought a bottle for me for the second time.
Also it is just like Tom Ford's White Patchouli for women, which I also like, and not as expensive.

blachedalmond

A true oriental based on a very strong sour rose & patchouli blend. I definitely prefer wearing it on cool fall evenings. If I had to associate this with a feeling, that feeling definitely would be "melancholy". I tend to reach for the bottle especially when I'm down. I can picture myself wearing a huge and soft sweater along with aromatics in white while walking in the rain before sunset.

Starts with some slightly off-putting dirty violet leaves(?).
At first I couldn't figure out why I didn't like this fragrance very much. Then I realised it was this initial blast... those violet leaves together with all the rose/patchouli mix as well as some spicy elements is just nauseating - especially in warmer weather. It's almost like a slightly off wet herb/rotten rose petals/moss mixture type of scent. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for earthy notes to make things interesting. But this beginning just doesn't do it for me - for a very brief moment.

After that initial confusion comes the comforting rainy day feeling. A close to skin powdery musk and benzoin surrounds you mid-to-base. Even though it gets significantly warmer and milder by the end, it's still on the more "masculine" side. I'm not a fan of bright sugarbomb feminine scents so I'm glad how AIW turns out to be.

Despite claiming I don't like the opening of it, I end up coming back to this - time and time again.

After I finish what I have I will not be getting another bottle, since I'm trying to downsize all my belongings. But I'll probably welcome any minis coming my way with my regular clinique skincare purchases.

sibaraa

This is the true translation of oriental floral. What a great bouquet! Every note in this is easily detected. You can easily wear this feeling confident, and serene!! This is a modern take on oriental for the people who are scared of amber, benzoin and all those big oriental bases. I'm so in love!

M.r

Both of aromatics white and black have that night-ish kind of feeling to me.
This one is quite lipsticky to my nose. I can scense violet/rose and patchouli. When settled down, I can detect amber. It's mysterious, dark, dandy both gender wearable.

Just don't know why it is called "White". It's not a luminous, optimistic kind of smell at all. It is nostalgic, melancholic. I can picture an English artistmen, depressed by a rainy day, in his room...

perfumeglam87

This smells just like armaf club de nuit. It's really cozy, relaxing and lovely. Middle eastern vibe, I do detect incense as well as what others have said. Can't wait for the fall and winter months to see how this goes. I think guys will like this also. Great longevity.

sugar&spice

Subtle yet sumptuous, this is a heavenly sweet incense scent with a relaxed, sexy vibe. Strength and sillage are moderate - I'm trying to ration how much of this I reapply through the day as it is quite addictive!

perfinya

I got a sample of this perfume after a purchase from Clinique. The bag was fulfilled with Aromatics in White. I couldn't stop smelling the bag because it was such an 'angelic' smell if it makes sense so I decided to buy it.

After buying the full bottle, I got my first plug it was shocking in a very bad way. I had a heavy rosy and powdery smell in 30 mins (which gives me migraine attacks sometimes) but after that, it smelled all pure. Longevity is really good on me like one spay is enough for the whole day. White florals, soft spices, a little powdery and a tiny soapy fragrance stays even at the end of the day.

Longevity - 8/10(6+ hours)
Silage/Projection - 6/10(moderate)
Weather - Winter/Autumn
Age - 25+
Scent - 8/10
Compliments - 9/10

chairat.luck.pluem

The rose is cold. I get only rose, incense and patchouli from this, This smell just like when I had gone to the Chinese temples...It's very incense smell.

Chrysolaga

Nearly every review I have read on this perfume mentions the word "powder," and that's because that is what this is. On me, it is Johnson and Johnson baby powder in liquid form. If I wanted to smell like that, I would douse myself in powder. Big pass for me.

rola.asad

A better version of tom’s ford white patchouli and a way less expensive.
Really lovely, soapy, musky, Bulgarian roses, and patchouli; the patchouli here is in a different form than the usual patchouli-sweet scents, I get the feel of powderiness “even though it’s not mentioned”, so comfy!
It stays on my skin nearly for 8 hours.
Love it 8/10

Coming from Bulgaria (the country of roses, Black sea resorts, Bulgarian yogurt, Bulgarian feta), I know very well how the real rose oil smells - very strong beautiful smell. Bulgaria is one of the countries which exports a lot of rose oil for the perfume industries over the world.
Which is why I immediately recognized the dominating rose smell. This perfume is all about roses.
This is how my grandmothers' wardrobe used to smell 30 years ago by just putting one small bottle with bulgarian rose oil in it. I do not detect any other notes, just the dominating strong rose smell. But it is beautiful smell. I bought this one instead of Olympea (paco rabbane) or my sister's fave Burberry body (which also has rose in it, but I do not like it).

Soofiya

I waited for six months to write a review for this one as I felt I'm missing it's point.sometimes I liked it and sometimes not and I was waiting to make a firm decision about my feeling.finally I decided to mark like bottom
I never tried aromatic elixir or the black one so I can't make comparison but looking at their notes list, the black one seems to be my type, even more than this one
I like rose as a perfume note but I don't love it.rose-patchouli combo was never my thing while I like rose followed by vanilla, amber and musk.blindbuying this perfume seemed risky to me as I hate labdanum and violet leaf and can't get along well with patchouli when it's too strong but I did it as I really wanted to try something from clinique and seeing words like clean, powdery and soft in numerous reviews and the word white in it's name made me feel that I'm going to like it.
I like it's bottle a lot but I believe it doesn't suit this scent.this is NOT a white scent for me(I guess nothing with dominant rose can be,as I imagine rose as red or black or sometimes pink rose in perfumes, never a white one)but other than it's color,it's bottle looks expensive, feminine, sophisticated, simple but at the same time unique and in these aspects it perfectly matches the juice inside
When I first sprayed it,I was very disappointed.rose was there from the very first second but this gorgeous rose was accompanied by lots of violet leaf and some pepper and green patchouli which gave it a herbal, fresh spicy quality.I couldn't like Aromatics in white and didn't reach for it for a while but the other time I gave it another chance I find myself loving it's drydown.I applied it at 11:30 pm and now it's 9:30 am I can't stop wrist-sniffing and it's a skin scent right now but not a faint one so longevity is very good.
I still don't like it when it's first sprayed.but it's herbal vibe fades away after about 40mins and in this stage it's mostly a musky rose.though patchouli is rated as it's first note,it doesn't appear strongly on my skin.forexample I assume Dior midnight poison as a real patchouli-rose-spice combo but in Aromatics in white after it settles down to it's middle phase, patchouli stays quiet and lets rose and musk show their full potential.I'm a musk lover so I like musk in all it's shapes but in this perfume it appears so nice that you don't need to be a musk lover to appreciate it.it's not just white musk.unlike others I don't find it soapy.it's not a dirty, oily musk either.it's clean, slightly powdery but warm and velvety at the same time.it's a skin-like musk as if musk is paired with a touch of suede or a soft and feminine leather note.ofcourse,so soft that I can't call it a leathery scent by any means.as time passes it become warmer and sweeter.amber starts to showup and though I enjoy it's musky middle,I appreciate the added warmness in drydown.drydown is a beautiful rose scent which has right amounts of patchouli, musk, spices, sweetness and balmyness.slight amounts of each of them, which is very clever IMO as their pressence make it interesting, sophisticated and more than mainstream feminine perfumes but they're not too intense to make it difficult to handle
All in all I'm very happy that I gave it time.I decanted and gave away half of my 3.4oz bottle but I'm going to happily use the remained half but I won't repurchase just because there are numerous other rosey fragrances in my collection waiting for me.I'm so happy that patchouli and labdanum aren't strong in this scent(ofcourse on my skin)and don't ruin it for me.when I asked my husband's idea about it,as he's so good in briefly explaining scents he said:it's a sweet and clean rosey scent which is grown up and ladylike.
The only thing I'm sad about is that it's explained as a powdery scent in most reviews. It doesn't appear as powdery on me and it's a pity as I love powdery scents.the other sad point is about it's sillage.it projects very well within half an hour of first applying but as it settles down to it's gorgeous middle and then final phase,it's sillage drops down and it stays very close to skin.it can make a great choice for a formal, fancy meeting or dinner but it can't show it's full potential in an open area
Highly recommended to rose lovers who don't want a complicated, heavy Arabic niche rose and don't want a fruity,berry-rose,pink water either.Aromatics in white belongs to classy, grown up,feminine fragrances territory.a classic with "soft, sweet and clean" modern aspects

Jillzilla

This is a lovely warm powdery resinous scent, and it would have been perfect for me, but the violet leaf persists on my skin far too long, well into the dry down, and because of my chemistry it creates a bug spray note that radiates out and overwhelms the beautiful warm powder. About an hour in, I had to admit to myself that I couldn't tolerate it anymore and I had to spray another perfume over it.

raw umber

Malle’s Portrait of a Lady crossed with Ford’s White Patchouli and then the combination was “reformulated” to be simpler, easier, more wearable (subtract frankincense, add standard designer musk) with a powdery finish. Also reminiscent of Narciso edp. Same type of musk.

After trying out samples of Aromatics in Black and Aromatics in White for several months on and off I fell in love with Aromatics in White. The bottle is so smooth, porcelain-white and very pleasant to hold. Obviously it's not only the bottle, but the scent that I loved. Herbal, mysterious, plush and warm, incensy in the right kind of way. I like patchouli and rose combination in many perfumes, so naturally I liked it here a lot too. It is very reminiscent of Tom Ford White Patchouli fragrance, as somebody already noticed in the reviews here. Even though they only share patchouli and rose in notes. A tad medicinal and earthy undertone is actually very nice, as well. Aromatics in White is more of a skin scent and much quieter than its sibling In Black. I still can catch whiffs of this scent about 12 hours later, but very very close to the skin. You might not impress the whole room if you are wearing this fragrance, but you will enjoy this amazing scent just for yourself for the whole day. If you like the scent, of course.

Erinbath22

This is like a cool, poofy cloud of baby powder with a soft and beautiful rose. Makes me feel dreamy. A perfect scent-the-scarf perfume! There is a whispery herbal patchouli making this more mature and interesting than "just baby powder," and the softness of this rosy, powdered patchouli just becomes warmer as it wears. Really lovely and special.

Clinique Aromatics in Black is a plummy and resinous white floral tinged with a green bite, while the White is the more fluffy and cool powdery, with gorgeous rose note and a bit of an edge. Don't make me choose my favorite right now! I think you need them both. Go Clinique!

jenise

I put this on at 7:30 this morning. It's almost 9 and still lovely. Very close to my skin. It's exactly as described in the notes. Amber, balsamic, warm spice, musk, patch, rose. I'm getting a very soft powdery, musk rose coming through the most on my skin. Not a heavy spice at all. I don't see any comparison to the original AE. It stands alone in my opinion. Very soft, clean, feminine scent. Very well done, another fine scent by Clinique. This was a blind buy on Ebay. I am enjoying it immensely. I'm not sure it will become a favorite yet. But I think it belongs in my collection. It's a blind buy I am glad I made. I recommend it.

ginawadsworth

My dear husband gifted me this for my birthday, today.

Whilst lacking the punchy in your face of Bernard Chant's version, this is a more polite skin scent which will not knock everyone over at 20 yards or less.

It also does not have oakmoss, which is sad, but Clinique is hardly to blame for the current ban on this beautiful perfume ingredient.

Never the less, it is a beautiful rendition, better, IMHO, that the current version of Aromatics Elixir.

It has a soft opening which becomes deeper and more powdery/spicy with wear. It has the lovely Chypre back bone without the oakmoss and good holding power on a dry skin.

Yes my sense of smell has changed with age, but I can smell this where I cannot smell the new version of Aromatics Elixir, and my husband says he cannot either, go figure!!!!!

So if you mourn the original version, give this a try. You will not be disappointed.

aqua76239

While I appreciate the original, i can never wear it as its too chypre and too spicy for my taste. But everything is toned down in this version. I can see why it was named "white" because its a MUCH lighter version, like 100 times lighter with addition of some other notes.
However, its not really a white light scent. Its just LIGHTER than original.
Its smells spicy and rather clean at first, but quickly cycles into patchouli, hint of leather and rose. But this is not the typical medicinal rose, its sweeter and tempered with leather which gives it a masculine feel. The dry down is elegant and slightly sweet. despite the masculine mid notes, it manages to smell feminine and classy.
I have to say that there is one perfume it reminded me off is Euphoria by CK. I don't mean those smell alike but have similar feel and I think they could be worn together.

AnitaHendricks

Clean, soft florals with subtile spice and musk. It's intersting, simple and wonderful! I like how it settles into my skin. I feel like I just got out of a nice, soapy, warm bath when I wear it.

Maodo

Excuse me?! AE Modernised? No way! Aromatics In White is a complete different fragrance, miles away from AE. It's a chic powdery fragrance with a blanket of the powdery rose warmth that reminds me a bit of the warmth from the NR 'For Her' line. IMO it's a real amber scent. It's female and elegant, but, for me, it is missing the WOW factor. I do like the dry down after some hours though: a cute, soft and powdery violet cloud of the almost innocent kind. But this cloud is exciting enough to draw the attention in a positive way.
Aromatics In White, I like it and I wear it, but I was hoping for a more cool, masculine perfume with the same sort of big bang feel as AE. This having said makes the original Aromatics Elixir , for patch and moss lovers like me, without any doubt the real thing.

Edit, 4 years later: AIW is warm, cosy. Mother-warmth as I call it, safe and powerful. Inviting and endearing. This is a beautiful mature powdery amber fragrance with a touch of patch. I was talking about the lack of a wow-factor before and busy comparing it with Aromatics Elixer. I will not do that again, promise. It's WOW enough. And it's NOT Aromatics Elixer. This beauty stands on her own.

6opar

A nice rosy patchouly fragrance with an amber undertone. It has a distinctive airy quality that fits with the white bottle. If i push myself i do find some similarities with the original but is nowhere near the grandeur of the mythical AE. A good quality fragrance in a world full of good quality fragrances. I will stick with AE.

I just love this fragrance! It smells spicy without oud. Reminds me of the after scent of an Indian ritual where woods, herbs, nuts, dried fruit and roses may be used.

Ive always liked this type of scent and have avoided reading the other reviews so that i can write without being biased.

It lasts long but the sillage on me is low to moderate. Very well made and blended. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous but the spicy scent of the fragrance does not match the name at all.

Ragnell

Very similar to Chanel 22 to my nose. lovely.

missk

Aromatics In White is a crisp, spicy and musky patchouli-laden scent that I am quite enamoured with. I never really liked the original Aromatics Elixir, so throughout this review I will refrain from comparing the two as I consider Aromatics In White its own stand-alone scent.

I find this fragrance somewhat similar to Perles de Lalique, another rich and spicy patchouli-rose combo. Aromatics In White is just a touch softer and muskier towards the base.

I am not certain as to whether or not this flanker and Aromatics In Black are in the process of being discontinued as I am starting to see both of these fragrances hitting the discounters and disappearing from the department store shelves. Aromatics In White is not the kind of fragrance that will appeal to everyone, you have to appreciate patchouli and its slightly masculine aroma before you fall head over heels for Aromatics In White.

I have many fragrances in my collection that smell very much like Aromatics In White, otherwise I would be adding this Clinique flanker to my collection. I find compositions such as this one incredibly sensual, comforting and best suited to wear during Winter and Autumn.

Aromatics In White has excellent longevity, with the tendency to project even longer on fabric. I rather like the modernization of the classic Aromatics Elixir in the form of flankers such as this one. Aromatics In White is a chypre and an oriental, skilfully blended to appeal to the younger influx of eager consumers.

Gemini12

Thanks to a generous swap partner I was able to try Aromatics in White as I've never been able to find it in a store. This smells slightly vintage yet clean, especially in the opening. I think it's the rose and musk that gives it the clean feeling, despite a heavy dose of patchouli. However, this has just too much patchouli for me and although I'm glad I got to try it, I won't pursue a full bottle.

korrocks

A handsome patchouli oriental glazed with ice.

Dark chocolate over talcum powder. Medicinal, but delicious, just like the original Aromatics...

Bathe me in it!!

Aromatics Elixir Lite. No. AE Filtered. No. AE Memories. Closer, but no. AE Breeze. Umm . . . AE as-seen-through-a-white-silk-gauze-veil-and-memory. YES!! AE *in* White.

A lovely, dry, vaguely powdery, almost dusty, spicy hint of *something* you can't quite put your finger on.

Beautiful. For a woman who knows "it's not the years; it's the miles".

Absolutely NOT for the woman who has not recovered from the sugar shock of the last decade, or who insists on attar of Bulgarian roses and indolic scents.

Personally, I detect barely any floral in this. It is all spice and powder and dry herbs on me. I have tried layering it twice -- once with Yardley Rose, which I did not like, and once with Devon Violets, which I *did*. I'd like to try it with a drier rose, but at the moment, I don't have anything like that on hand.

If you do not automatically wrinkle your nose at the mere thought of the original AE, Youth Dew, Obsession, Cinnabar, or another deep, rich WOMAN'S scent, this may work for you. It is absolutely worth a trial spray. It is not as "heavy" or rich and deep as those sorts of scents, but it's like a memory of them. I find it very nostalgic and wistful, and bittersweet. A lovely summer fragrance.

Do try it. I suspect this is one of those chameleons that becomes individual on every person. Could very well work for some men, too.

UPDATE: A month after writing this, I layered my new (sadly IFRA reformed) bottle of "classic" AE, made 2016 in Switzerland, with a light spritz of AE White underneath. !!! Those of you desperately missing the pre-IFRA version of AE might try layering these two. One sniff, and I thought, THERE it is! THAT is Aromatics Elixir!

I read many of you are stumped by the positioning of this fragrance in the White genes. I believe it was never intended to BE white but to be IN white, as in wearing white. How do you feel when wearing white? You could feel very sexy, you could associate it with a bride in white lingerie. It feels rich and classy, to me much like wearing your best white whatever it my be. I wear this scent often, and just love the way I feel wearing it, much like... you guessed it, wearing white. looking forward to the body smoother and shower gel coming in full sizes, and I hope this helped.

Contessa01

Kimmielyn, I think you sum up this fragrance really well. It is for me really hard to describe. In a lot of my reviews I like to suggest others that smell similar to give you an idea of if you would like it but with this one I really don't think I have tried anything like it. It smells quite niche in some way so perhaps there are others out there. But to me this is unique. I agree with Kimmielyn that to add the title noir into the name would fit the scent very well. I was surprised by the name. Nothing about it is white to me. But then I was thinking about how if you mix every color together you get white and that kind of is a bit like this perfume which is a good and for some a not so good thing. It is a real concoction of a lot of different notes that I wouldn't imagine go together.
At first I get almost a musky stick smell, but that passes and I get leathery notes, pepper and violets. In the mix is Benzoin and a little bit of amber. Bizaarly living up to its name perhaps it leaves a powdery trail behind it which is quite comforting but with all the other notes I would not suggest this fragrance if you are looking for a kind of Donna Karan Cashmere type of fragrance. I read someone say it is a bit like Tom Ford Violet Orchid and I agree if I had to pick one that would be it... I think!
Overall I like Aromatics in White. I am not a fan of the original elixir on my skin but on the right person I think it can smell nice. I tried the black bottle briefly and it is very strong and complex.
It has a good sillage and longevity so you are getting good value for money with this one, especially since it smells like a niche perfume.
Give it a try and I look forward to reading more reviews on this complex gem.

UnearthlyApothecary

This is really nice, dominant earthy patchouli, a tad spicy and masculine. It doesn't have the greatest projection but I can live with that. I get quite a bit of rose but it's not like a typical feminine rose, it's very earthy. aromatics in white is not a white scent to me either, it's a deep amber-green.

Holygal

I agree with what others have said, this not white at all - it's a warm, rich scent. I love the spice in it, and it lasts on me, which is getting increasingly rare. Not my favourite ever, but a gorgeous scent. I'd give it 8/10

tanzp

Thank you to my kind kiwi perfume fan for the sample I am in love!

chnhjn

Like many others have mentioned, this scent is not exactly white, just like Aromatics in Black doesn't smell pitch black. If I had my way, Aromatics in White would be pastel purple and Black would be plum. The violet opening reaches full strength a few minutes after spraying. It greatly overpowers the rose and I don't get much of the rose at all. One hour to two hours later, patchouli sets in, and the rose becomes more obvious but never takes center stage. It's not a direct contrast to Black as the colour contrast might suggest, but as I have read somewhere before, derivations of the same genre. That said, I guess the use of black and white gives a sense of duality.

kimmielynn

I've got to get this thought off my chest first...where did they get the white part of the name? I think this scent is anything but white in its nature.
This is a very nicely done, warm, earthy patchouli fragrance. To add the title noir into the name would fit the scent very well.
It is unusual in it's nature, as it is its own beast.
I get leathery notes, a very mild pepper and a distant bit of non pungent rose.
It is anchored with a wonderful mix of Amber, Benzoin and Musk.
I do not get much floral from this scent at all. My nose detects no labdanum, crushed violet or orange blossom.
After its initial dry down on my skin I get a very well done, warm & SLIGHTLY intoxicating powdery throw.
I really like Aromatics in White. (verge of love)
It is masterfully mixed to get a simple but deep fragrance that is not just another standard issue perfume.
I was a bit baffled as I was expecting it to be a bit spicier (spices are soft)and a bit more...well, aromatic. This is not a criticism in any way, as my expectations were just a bit off.
It has a nice strength and depth, good longevity and sillage is arms length or better.
I think this version of Aromatics is a bit more balsamic and ambery than its predecessor.
I also think this smells like it could be a much more expensive niche perfume.
Not yet a love, but ohhh so close. I am really enjoying this elixir.
A nice way to describe it is: creamy dreamy, velvety & smooth.

Vegas Pauli

Looking at the notes I was hoping this might be a cheaper version of Tom Ford White Patchouli. Well, its not. They do have the same mild sweet white flower notes, but that's about it. The patchouli here is very mild and the pepper, rose and amber is almost non existent. This is a soft, sweet and milky light floral. Its nice though, I can't imagine anyone hating this. Maybe more like Justin Beiber The Key than anything else I can think of. Still if found at a bargain, one can do worse. I got this for $16 on clearance at TJ Maxx, and for that price it smells fantastic.

Camsacci

Aromatics in white has nothing white about it, except for the bottle! It is a strong, almost earthy fragrance to me, with a strong prevalence of patchouli, rose and pepper. It lasts quite a lot on my skin, and eventually, once the spiciness leaves, the only thing left to smell is patchouli. A good fragrance, maybe a bit too heavy for summer - reminds me of a more vintage perfume.

genny17

Happy to finally try it, hard to find here in Canada!! So so pretty!! Really loving that one!! Fresh and a bit sweet , musky, powdery floral, it smells great, it is a crowd pleaser for sure...it has a certain simplicity, yet it smells lovely...contrary to the black version, which packs a punch, this is softer, brighter, like the name implies, a white scent.!! At first I thought it would get too powdery on me , but the fresh amber takes over, and it smoothed the powdery vibe beautifully.
Now it doesnt project terribly, and longevity isn't top, but it lingers and smells even better in the drydown..now it has a classy vibe, but not oldish..it has a rose undertone, but fresh. so far liking it !!
Update : I didn't expect the drydown to take a sharp turn toward a soapy cleaning product undertone...not sure but in the end there is a note that turns me off...

jérémie.simonet

Very light fragrance. Powdery and aromatic at the base. Very wearable but common scent.

sandrajj

This was included in a nice sample bag of frags sent to me by Nordstrom in an order - a few months ago - today I was looking through the bag and found Aromatics in White eau de parfum spray sample. Long story short - here it is, 12 hours later and this gorgeous scent is still going strong on my wrists, inside elbows, sides of neck, etc. 3.4 oz bottle is on its way to me from Nordstrom in the next few days! I love this and cannot wait to have the beautiful bottle on display and in the air surrounding me. The longevity is 12 hours, as I said - and the sillage is close, maybe 4 feet...

DBF85

This is a bet overwhelming.

Amber, fresh scent and musk. All beautiful together but it's too strong. If only the went from 10 to 4 then it would be a hit.

nellyrlight

Love all Aromatic Elixirs..Love the original, and love this one too. Everything you want/need from a perfume. Originality, sensuality, long lasting power, freshness while alluring, happiness..All in one bottle.

christianne1

One of my most complimented fragrances. I literally can't get around anyone without getting a compliment on this. Strangers stop me and ask what it is. Aromatics in White bears no resemblance to the original in my opinion. This is a seductive creamy musky labdanum rose centered fragrance with a soft powdery yet slightly masculine edge to it. It's strange, I think really feminine at times then other whiffs seem slightly masculine. I initially almost wrote it off as "meh" and boy was that a major mistake. This is an underrated jewel. This stuff is gorgeous. Understated but still has a major presence apparently based on the amount of compliments I receive. It's hard to describe just what makes it so special, all I know is that it is.

This is a very long Lasting scent on me and the sillage is great. People in the room notice this on me even if I only sprayed twice (neck and chest). It comes out strong but as it dries down after 3 hours, it spreads this really powdery/floral refreshing but feminine scent that does not hurt my nose or others. This does not give me any headaches either so I guess that's a big plus!

tanzp

if anyone in nz would have a small sample of this or the black i would love to try , we can not get this in blenheim

Forest Fairy

Wonderful on a paper test strip, really like happy bubbles as someone commented, but somehow too masculine and plain patchouli scent on my skin, unfortunately. However, there is something in it that makes me not to forget it. I keep coming back to test it at department stores - I have given it quite a many tries so far! I think I have created some kind of an obsession with it, which might eventually lead to buying a bottle.

AngelEuphoria

Was quite surprised by this. Wow! There are very few fragrances that work day/night in ALL seasons, and A.I.W. is one of them. It even remains clean and fresh in hot/humid weather.

kati77

By me this is a pleasant, slightly soapy smell. Do not kick neither rose nor patchouli. They are so well mixed with other ingredients that perceive the perfume as a whole. Violet probably gives this creamy, mydlaność. Elegant and discreet scent. Longevity approx. 5 hours.

Essy_C

When I first applied this I panicked and thought it would be a scrubber - its floral. I got a blast of gardenia and orange blossom.
But it very quickly dried down to a discrete, powdery amber rose musk. Its the first floral I've liked. My skin does awful things to most perfumes and most florals give me a headache, but I love this.

zombieldehyde

With the top and middle notes I immediatly think of old person smell because of the orange blossoms, I think. I did not like it at first but when the base notes emerged, it was a totally different story! I can't stop sniffing!! I loved the powdery floral scent I get on my skin. However, I won't purchase just because of the base notes... there are many fragrances out there and it's too boring to settle. hahaha on to my next fragrance adventure!

miss mills

Thanks to the lovely Xrayer, I am able to try this today. This is a divinely soft and comforting fragrance, along the lines of Cerruti 1881 and L'eau en Blanc Lolita in its violet expression and has a vibe which is alluring and gentle yet comforting at the same time. Love it!

Tovah

When I wear this and catch a whiff of it, I can get tears in my eyes. Remember when perfume used to smell so good you could get lost in it? You could put on a whole new personality and mood with a couple of sprays? The scent could make you feel like there's nothing you can't do? That everything is going to be all right?

For me, Aromatics in White is what Happy is supposed to be. Aromatics in White is multifaceted - and it's beautiful from start to finish. It lasts and lasts and lasts, and it creates new facets of olfactory imagery throughout weartime. It's a PERFUME. It doesn't have any distinctive notes of something edible, or a flower from a garden...it's not soapy, or powdery, or watery...It doesn't allow you think of notes; it just smells beautiful.

My 8 year old daughter has proclaimed it her favorite perfume, and I practically have to hide the bottle from her because she likes to spray all her dolls, her bed, and drawers with it. Thankfully I bought the 3.4 oz bottle!

Aromatics in White is extremely difficult to describe, because of its lack of distinctive notes. It's a new aroma altogether. I'm stumped when trying to think of another perfume to compare it to...it doesn't smell like anything else I know of. The most I can come up with notewise is a very clean, breezy musk that's not nearly as innocent as it first seems to be. It deepens, but not in a dirty way. It seems more "juicy", and it sparkles like a musk-aldehyde blend. My daughter says it smells like "bubbles". Not soap, she says, definitely not. "Just shiny bubbles." This isn't a sweet scent. My brain wants to categorize it in chypre because the juiciness of the musk connotes "green". But this is not a chypre, and it doesn't have even a hint of it's forerunner's DNA (Aromatics Elixir).

Aromatics in White is instant euphoria...it makes my daughter and I both have a sense of anticipatory excitement...like something amazing will happen soon...or we are living in a bubble of wonderfulness. This White is good for the soul!

mudpach

OMG, my new love! So beautiful, spicy-balsamic with huge patchouli. So elegant!

Nikkafragrance

I am in love! I don't like the original, but this is so pretty! It starts with patchouli, but a relatively light one. For example White patchouli by TF is from the heavier and slightly stinky kind. Within an hour the rose becomes very evident. The composition evolves into a delicate musky, slightly spicy aroma. Labdanum is not in your face, I can't stand loud labdanum. The drydown is a very pleasant mix of violet leaf and sichuan pepper. Sillage is something in between moderate and heavy. IMO Aromatics in white is a great fragrance for fall and winter and one can wear it all day!

Dadadida

It starts off smelling exactly like the top notes mentioned: violet leaf, pepper, labdanum and a slightly manly rose. Then the rose becomes more prominent, and the violet leaf disappear to make room for a spicy neroli, rose and labdanum mixture, combined with a very true, strong herbal patchouli. Then for the dry-down, it becomes balmier, creating a nice creamy, warm yet clean scent, that I very much enjoy.

It can be puzzling why they chose to name this perfume "white". Don't be fooled - this is not a fresh, "just-showered" scent. It's a rather clean scent, but in a more woody, herbal, aromatic way, that takes me back to ancient times, when people wore natural aromatic oils as perfume.
The reason why this is indeed a "white" fragrance, is for the very clean musk. The musk in this is evident throughout - it's the base for the opening and middle notes, as well as the drydown. It's a very "detergent-y" sort of musk, smellig a bit like baby wipes, but not necceserly in a bad way - I belive it makes this a more grown-up scent the a polished woman would wear, and less "hippie".

It also has a very masculine vibe altogether, smelling like an old-fashioned men cologne at times (I actually think it shares some similiraties with Givenchy's Gentleman!). But again, the musk makes it more womanly. I think this one actually reads as "motherly" to me, maybe because it smells both like baby wipes, and both like a natural herbal perfume. Anyways, I like it and can imagine a very classy, polished woman in her 30's-40's wearing sprayig this in the mornig, leaving little traces of it for her kids to smell when she leavs for work.

If I would need to some this up in 3 words I would choose: Clean; Motherly; Spicy

Oriane

A balanced, multilayered composition.

At first, I mostly detect violet and rose, but not sirupy nor opulent ones, since N. Beaulieu added a pinch of pepper to the recipe, making the flowers smell spicy.

This refined, harmonious chord, quickly fades into a musky fragrance, with a beautiful "ambrée" facet. It is at once sweet and mysterious. I don't know why it also reminds me of nuts ... Generally speaking, it evokes the kind of things you find, like a squirrel, in the woods.

At the end of the day, Aromatics I W lingers as a sweet patchouli & benzoin fragrance, devoid of the opening's sparkling notes. The vanilla sillage is nice and discrete - there's no more of it than needed.

I don't know if classifying perfumes in gender categories is relevant at all (I'm rather convinced it is not), but this one is definitely unisex. It smells like scents aimed at men, but the lingering flowery touch (mostly rose) makes it ambiguous ...

Aromatics In White is worth trying. One has to appreciate pepper, to be sure. If one does, it's a beautiful and daring fragrance that has many sides to disclose.

Daniela_Beatriz

Creamy, powdery, feminine and delicate. Very comfortable to wear and last ages. Perfect for musk and amber lovers - has absolutely nothing to do with Aromatics Elixir (which is a big bonus for me).

Jasmine2024

I really do not like the other Clinique aromatic fragrance in fact I despise it!:( so I was pleasantly surprised how much I love this- I received it for free in a sample bag and have become quite fond of it. It is really, really long lasting and stays beautiful all day:)

Fluffyandpuffy

This is very rich and nice with sweetness yet deep. It reminds me so much of Tom Ford velvet orchid for sure.

thesheppardess

I believe another reviewer said something along the lines of,"if this were put in a Chanel bottle, people would be all over it." I am paraphrasing here but that is sort of how I feel. This is complex, with many layers. Yes, patchouli, roses, and other notes, as listed above. I don't really get the Sichuan peppercorns. My skin really promotes the patchouli, which is unfortunate as I struggle a little with that note. I also pick up the amber and musk but not much in the way vanilla.

I should have tried it a few times before I purchased it. Hindsight and all that.....

Pepperflower

Do not judge a book by its cover. I am not so impressed from Clinique's line of fragrances and the Aromatics Elixir has left a nasty stain on my pallet and I do not fancy it, at all. When I received a Clinique gift set from a friend that also had with Aromatics In White, I had negative judgments. How I was wrong!

I'm not exactly sure why "White" is included in the name. Perhaps it's because white is the color that this perfume eventually fades into. It does not start off white but rather dark, more like a dim lit room. First spray is slightly leathery labdanum, amber, pepper, rose and patchouli. A room with objects with deep earthy colors. Rose becomes stronger, soft violets and musk enters and fills the room with more light. Musk shines even brighter illuminating the whole room. What is behind is something clean, and soft something on the border between fresh laundry and warm skin.

This reminds me of Tom Ford White Patchouli. Aromatics In White is much lighter with WP being definitely stronger with more patchouli and florals and Aromatics in White being focused on musk while patchouli and rose are strong supporters. Aromatics In White makes a great "patchouli for starters" or patchouli sensitives. It's both warm and fresh, starts off somewhat heavy but it dissolves into something subdued.

A surprise to really like this, very enjoyable and beautiful!

SuzeJoanne

The first 10 minutes AiW smell very strong balsamic, it's almost too much. But when this smell fades away AiW leaves a wonderful warm rosy, musky scent that melts into your skin and lingers for the whole day. So please give this lovely scent some time to settle on your skin.

Soniechka

There's something about this perfume that gives me a headache... Maybe the patchouli?

Coffee King

This is a lovely fragrance, black suits the tone of the black version, as equally as the softness of the white bottle suits this one. A lovely fresh bright floral opens up and mellows down to a smooth creamy patchouli musk. I think the black is more striking but it's still a beautiful fragrance. The bottle is lovely once again.

Chelsea1605

If you like patchouli then you'll love this!! Unfortunately I don't and much prefer Black. The patchouli sticks around for a long while eventually drying down to a sultry musky floral. Too long for me though but do try it!

elmizakamarulzaman

Clinique actually sent me a sample together with my online purchases. I must admit I love this scent very much. Longevity is excellent, it lasts more than 12 hours. Silage is moderate to heavy but worry not, it's not too overpowering. I never smell/try the earlier version of Aromatics Elixir, but I know Aromatics White is my pick. I really wanted to have a full size soon.

melancholybaby

For those of you who dislike the original AE, have no fear, this bears no resemblance except in the name. On my skin, all I get from beginning to end is violet. There is eventually an overlay of clean musk, but that's it on my skin.

Awater01

Smells a little like pink musk lollies in the initial spray, the nostalgia must be why I like it so much. It warms to a soft, comforting resinous scent. I like to spray it on my pillow just before going to sleep.

Kath Grace

Very similar to Tom Ford White Patchouli but softer and more feminine in my opinion.

Miffy8900

Beautiful and feminine dirty rose and patchouli fragrance . Reminds me a lot of Tom Ford White Patchouli . Projects well and last long . Very pretty bottle . Love it !

susanlouise9

Aromatics In White doesn't really remind me of the original iconic Aromatics Elixer, which I've worn, on and off, since the mid-1970s, when I discovered the Clinique line as a very young woman.

White reminds me of a fragrance my late mother had in her fragrance collection - Occur by Avon (long discontinued), in the late 1960s/early 1970s. White also reminds me of a fragrance by Marilyn Miglin - named 112. White, Occur and 112 smell nearly identical as fougres to me and are nice to wear in cool weather, though they aren't 'warm' 'spicy' scents per se.

White smells mostly like rose, labdanum, patchouli and amber. It's a substantial 'green' fougre scent, but not overwhelming.

LaBoheme84

I know that the rose & patchouli thing has been done to death, but... here it's just so GOOD. My first reaction sniffing this was "Oh, WOW!". It was just lovely and made me happy! It opens up as an incredibly pretty rose scent. The patchouli is just a backdrop and is the smoothest kind you could imagine - no dirt or bitterness whatsoever. After a while the rose dials down and the scent gets a bit warmer, spicier.

I absolutely do not smell this as a "white" fragrance. The colours that come to mind are a rosy pink/red and rich leafy green.

Also, there isn't much resemblance to the original Aromatics Elixir - a very good thing, since I can't stand that one.

petra.pasztor01

Beautiful and not an ordinary scent for women who get rid off the sweet and same fragrances from the last 3 years. I bought an 50 ml bottle of this in the summe,r but to tell the truth it doesn't work on my skin, so I would like to sell it. From 50 ml only a few ml (1-2) missing. If you're interested, please write an e-mail to [email protected] and I can show pictures, discuss the price and shipping etc.

Sweetiekitty

Starts out lovely, not shrill at all. Fades pretty quickly though. I'm probably not going to buy this.

Wolfchild

Just received my bottle of Aromatics in White today. I know the reviews haven't been too thrilling, and I must say that it's not my favorite. Reminds me very much of Jovan Woman. In that way it is kind of dated. I am older, and I don't like to refer to 'Old Lady" perfumes, because it is very subjective. It is sharp and woodsy, with a little floral undertone. When I first sprayed, it was kind of incensey. I love incense,so I was pleased about that. It just didn't last. If you are a fan of the original Aromatics Elixir,or a fan of Jovan Woman, then you might like this. I would give it a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. Ten being the best.

Rose Scented Avon Hand Cream

Aromatics in White got a rather harsh review from NST, and I can't say that I wholly disagree. It was basically compared to a baby wipe or something, and given a very 'meh' rating.

It does remind me of a very nice floral hand cream or body lotion. That's not a bad thing, look at how excited everyone is for the new Nivea perfume that's coming out (tho it looks like it won't make it to the US.) But that doesn't make it mind blowing, or a great flanker to the original Aromatics (why they made this a flanker is beyond me--it doesn't have any AE DNA at all.)

All the perfume notes are enveloped in a musky powder, like something Narciso Rodriguez would put out. There is a pretty violet rose, with a hint of peach, that lasts for most of the perfume, and is strongest in the first hour of wear. Sometimes I can smell a faint hint of patchouli, sometimes not. Same with a mild peppery note, it weaves in and out. The supposed heavier notes like amber, labdanum, and vanilla are very light and are blended in with the musk. I guess that's why this is a lotion-perfume, that comforting musk around all the notes...

I do like this but I don't know that I love it. After the first hour it definitely turns into a skin scent. If you like perfumes that remind you of being clean, or of lotion, this is a go. I think if it had just a tiny more assertiveness I would really love it. I guess I'll have to see what they do with Aromatics in Black.

Singabera

Beginning is quite nice - patchouli and roses reminded me of Voleur de roses and Fille de Berlin, but base is ordinary, but still pleasant. For sure that one is better then 95% of new launches, but not smth extraordinary.

artisteassoiffe

If you're looking for a very tame, faint, skin-scent musk with just a tiny hint of a far off wood, that nobody can smell on you.... then this fragrance is for you.

When I first smelt this fragrance, the assistant at the Clinique counter had just sprayed it into the air... It smelt gorgeous, enveloping, refined....like the sadly discontinued but utterly beautoful Versace White Jeans.... Unfortunately, on skin, the beauty of the musk doesn't stay... you're left with skin that just smells like you used a very good shower gel...

Jinjanoo

When it goes on it reminds me of EL Sensuous but the dry down is very different, its a lovely creamy skin scent. I like it!

Bussie

A powder fragrance with moderate sillage. This was not love at first spray for me but somehow i got fond of the smell and i am truely enjoying this frangrace. 7/10 Good Stuff Clinique. A bit pricey though.

JaxTheMinx

I like this one on my skin when the sun starts drawing water and autumn is nigh. The musk is very prevalent on my skin. If you smell the nozzle after a few days, it smells so much like Stella or maybe even Fleur Fatale by KK. Delicare, wet rose petals - so juicy. Once on the skin it sweetens though and the patch and musk come through with just a hint of vanilla.

Add the tiniest hint of Shalimar to wet rose petals, add a dollop of sugar and voila. This is how my untrained nose and thirsty skin experience this fragrance anyhow. I dig it.

This is not a flanker to the original Aromatics.

Msgreenpebble

This is just sweet and lovely. I am normally attracted to challenging/animalic/cerebral perfumes but this has just hit a sunny rosey sweet note that is very wearable and full of sunshine. Like just stepping out from a hot clean bath strewn with rose petals, with just a hint of smokey incense to add depth. Simple doesn't have to be sickly!

odelnyul

I really really like this. Mind you, I said like not love, but really, it's a very good scent and pretty versatile one as well.

On me it works best on warm summer nights, maybe because it has the same balmy, sweet but also slightly smoky aspect as a July evening in this beatiful city, where the smokiness of a big city mixes with blooming trees, the mist of the river, the cigarette smoke of bars, the effervescence of sparkly wine and the smell of people dressed up for the night.

As to the notes, while I expected a spicy tart rose, on me it's much more of a fresh AND smokey white floral. It's definitely the violet leaf and the orange blossom that I smell the most, with a pinch of pepper, sexy musk and a sweet and somewhat resinous base, where there is a hint of a geraniumy, but not tart rose.

On NST some people voted this to be the most 'meh' perfume release of 2014, and while AiW won't knock your socks off,I beg to differ. It's definitely a sophisticated floral with a depth that will make people stop in their tracks and ask you what perfume you're wearing.

judyk

Sour rose, violet leaf and musk. Patchouli? Maybe a hint. No sillage, no longevity. I don't dislike it but... meh, really. Considering how much I love her grandmother, it's disappointing.

pomdgf

This is a modern and complexity version of the original Elixir. Although the bottle is white but the scent is so tender and very sensual. It's very amber, creamy, woodery and powdery. It will seduces you to the dark side ( in a sexy and mysterious way ). On my skin it's very powdery, woodery very Indian scent ( incense stick ). When I spray this perfume I feel incredibly sexy and dark that goes well with my black shirt and skinny jeans. Perfect for a hot summer night or cold weather. Loooove it !!

Arlene-Beatrix

Yes, it is French soap, oriental scented. At first it was even nice, but after a while it was far too heavy for me.

rossyegio5

Sorry.

Justyna

It's a soap. Rosy soap, musky soap, very expensive, but still a soap. Pity, cause I like the bottle (that looks as well like a piece of soap...)

perfumeaddiction

First I would like to thank my lovely swap partner for the chance to try this, I probably would have never purchased on my own.

As a huge Aromatics Elixir fan I think I had a mild expectation this would have a hint of the original even though the reviews stated not. So I was semi prepared that it would be nothing like AE. And that would be a correct assumption. With that being said I do love it. Let me explain a bit more.

The white bottle threw me and at first the initial spray seemed light, faint and almost a disappointment. Something strange begins to happen in the first 10 minutes. That faint barely there aroma on my arm started to morph into a stronger more complex scent. This rarely occurs with perfumes for me. As I sit here now about 20 minutes later it's continued to become stronger and deeper smelling on my wrist and I like it. I would say the initial spray is light and faint but the dry down is more of an ambery rich and exotic scent. I can't call it gourmand and I really can't even call it floral or spice. I am at a loss of words on how to explain this pretty scent. It's Niche smelling. This could even be a unisex but don't let that worry you ladies. It's not masculine at all. Delightful.

Jomoves

This has just arrived in Australia and I’ve been test driving a sample for the past few days. The white bottle looks great, but for those of you expecting a true AE flanker get ready to be disappointed. It’s nothing like the famed original AE. Having said that, this ultimately disappointing fragrance does have its merits.

When I first sprayed it I thought it seemed like a standard sweet/floral scent, but it does develop into something stronger as time goes by. It’s like a floral incense, but very synthetic and overly familiar. Silage is moderate and longevity is long. You don’t need to use a lot of this to get a scent cloud going, so if you like it, a little really does go a long way.

It reminds me of many of the current department store designer scents that are labelled, “noir” or “extreme”. It’s overly plastic and stops at the point where it starts to get interesting. Maybe that’s what sells these days.

Shwets

I tested this today at Boots.

So refined classy and rich smelling!
It reminded me of a softer version of TF's white patchouli as the white amber is softer without the fruity notes.

Very lovely addictive scent.....one of the best ive smelt from Clinique.

Plus this bears no resemblance to the original Aromatics.

Rianna

Bought a bottle today. It's different and that's what I like about it. It smells clean, soapy, almost like lavender even though there's none in it. It does smell expensive. Perfect to wear on any occasion. Subtle and comfortable. It is a bit powdery but it's a cosy scent and smells great on my skin after an hour. On clothes incredible. A signature scent you won't forget. It's nice when a scent stands out from the crowd and this does just that, it's not screaming like aromatics elixir it's got a hand up saying 'That nice smell? That's me I'm over here'

MLK

I tried this today in David Jones store (Australia) as I was passing by. Loved it and can't stop smelling the fragrance on me & the spray card. Going to pick up a bottle tomorrow and I'll update this review. Very nice perfume for every day and so much better than the original - more modern twist for today's market.
Update: I just bought this today and I'm in love with this fragrance, so pretty but also a bit spicy, very easy to wear and very elegant. I also love that it has a touch of musk, amber and vanilla = all my favourites!!!

HeavyBeatsUK

This smells exactly like lychees, I'm surprised there isn't any lychee in the notes.

enigmaticessence

Thank you, kvan! I do not usually like violet leaf, but am anxious to test! For some, our local Ulta also has Clinique reps.

Rene007

! halmut lang - the same perfume!, i tought i like it but after 10 ml sample i have got tired from it- wont buy a full bottle( although its has amazing clean bottle)

Mellyhelly

new review: I still like it and was on a verge to buy it, but my budget refrained me. I kept spraying from testers, because something was not totally convincing about this one...
I like it and I think it's a comfort scent, but in the drydown I smell an edge of old aftershave, like a fresh breeze from my dad's cabinet when I was a kid. He was never a perfume man. It must have been something like Aqua Velva, which I loved as a small kid, but I'm not sure that I want that edge in my perfume now.

daithi

This is a velvety and unoffensive rose, musk and patchouli combination. It's nice but boring. It has nothing to do with the unique and mystical "Aromatics Elixir".

kvan

Ok....The reviews and the notes look about right. First off, it smells nothing whatsoever like AE.
It starts with a ton of rose. At this stage it reminds me of the heart of Kelly Caleche but with no citrus. Then rose and sichuan pepper. The rose is still very loud. The pepper is really great but there isn't enough of it.
Then as the rose calms down I get the patch, but not nearly as much as the other reviewers have smelled, and it's powdery patch blended with powdery amber. The patch smells like the one in 31 Rue Cambon! But there isn't nearly enough of it and it's not in the opening like it is for 31. I start to smell orange rind (tiny bit) mixed in with the rose. Like the rose/orange of Calypso.
The rose calms way down now and turns entirely powdery. Still smell powdery pepper (this pepper smells smoky like a wood fire to me. Barely).
After about 2 hours it's all sweet amber-musk powder/ patch powder/ pepper powder with a wee hint of rose/orange rind powder.
The whole thing is VERY mild (after the loud rose) and only lasts about 2 hours. I had to put it on twice yesterday and still couldn't smell it at bedtime nor on my pjs this morning. IMO, the components are pretty good. The balance is way off.
Those are my early impressions...I wonder if it would melt open and bloom in hot weather? All that rose might kill me in summer, though.

EDIT: This is becoming my new favorite rose perfume (along with Calypso). I wear 3 sprays: low back, inner elbows, belly. Then it "wafts" in a more balanced way. I get lots more musk, labdanum, and patch this way.

Marie76

This is a creamy, gorgeous white floral, with a sweet muskyness and nothing scratchy or too animalistic about it. It is beautiful, classy, and I actually do sense the Aromatics Elixir DNA in there somewhere...it feels vintage in that is not an ubiquitous " fruity floral two notes on top/ two notes at the bottom" modern thing, it's quite complex; I get a bright cologne like opening, rose and jasmine, musk, patchouli, amber, a powdery note...it's lovely, an instant classic.
I layer it with a Serge Lutens stuff and it sort of deepens it and does not get outshines...I would compare Aromatics in white to Serge lutens fragrances in terms of quality.
Very, very nice surprise.

Fizzy

There is no resemblance with Aromatics Elixier, this is something new and completely boring nondescript. Don´t waste your time with it.

Kharismal

Just loved it!!!
Enormous sensual yet elegant sillage.
A beauty

Rene007

soleia

This is an update to my preliminary review from a month ago:

So I have since re-tested it twice on skin. I cannot understand why I did not get the rose on the first testing; rose is really dominant, along with patchouli in this composition.

I still find it reminds me of the original; an echo of it. It definitely has a retro vibe. It's very soft,lady-like, has no sharp edges and thus is easy to wear. It is warm, perfect for cool weather. It is not sweet at all, though.

I found the longevity average but the sillage weak. I might consider a bottle if it was heavily discounted (but that's just me not being a rose fanatic).

Mellyhelly

I'm wearing it since this morning.
I was curious and had some expectations. Better not to have.
AE in White is a very safe choice, not daring at all like original AE. It smells more of a modern scent with that fear to offend that entered our dna since a while.
The scent itself is very nice and a little enticing. At the beginning it's almost non-existing, but it evolves along the day with your skin.
The SA told me that the "base" is the same as AE. I have no idea what she meant by "base".
Real oakmoss is not. Now I see they feature labdanum. This must be the closest available stuff to anything bushy/dirty vegetal, until they ban it for some ridiculous reason.
Overall this is a nice White floral with a gently dirty vegetal drydown.
Nice, very wearable, feminine, calm, elegant and lasting but with very tamed sillage.
No sugar.
It sits close to the skin and from a distance you may only be aware of a clean soapy scent, like expensive soap.
It really reminds me of some ladylike perfume from the 70s or 80s in a diluted form.
Unusual glass bottle lacqued from inside, like NR EdT only in white.
Very expensive.

Chouli Galore

If this perfume does not make it to my local Pennsylvania back yard I will be pissed off to no end.

Scentmad

As a devotee of the original AE I had high hopes for this perfume. It is lovely, not lovely enough to equal the original but lovely all the same. Roses galore and mildly sweet with a subtle pepper note. The head notes are a little aggressive but not unpleasant, the heart and base notes are lovely, well balanced and oozing with dewy sweet roses, a little like Lancome's Mille et une Rose to my nose. I like it, not as much as the giant that is AE original but very pretty all the same.

blueviolet

Tested today. I was very much looking forward to this. I have and love Beyond Rose and these share some significant notes. They do not however smell similar. This one is quite vintage, almost chypre in periods. It is to me, in the same style as Phantere, not the same but they seem to come from the same era.

At first, it appeared quite vintage and balsamic. Then the middle notes came in and turned very classy, grown up and lady like. Pearls, red lipstick and 50s pumps.
I had sprayed some on my partner and on her this stage was almost Oudy. Alas, not on me.
I left it had dinner and the dry down was very faint and again with a classy feel.
Later as I walked by the coat I had worn whilst sampling it and got a whiff from what I guess was the dry down I missed on my skin. Just like incense, the incense I have been searching for in perfumes for years. The same I remember from my time living in Australia and never been able to find since.
For this reason I need to try it again.
As for the notes, I tend to be ok at picking them out. But at this I'm at loss.
The Rose is not a sweet one. The patchouli is not dominating.
For now, that's what I picked up.
Edit
I realise now I picked up Violet Leaf. I believe, this gave the powdery vintage notes.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. I catch whiffs of slightly burnt caramel and spices (the benzoin?), something imperceptibly green, patchouli, and the ghost of a rose. Unbelievably creamy and clean, the colour white definitely suits it. This has skyrocketed into my want list.
EDIT: I tried my sampe again yesterday night, and I couldn't believe it was the same fragrance I had written the review about. I got a patchouli-ed rose, dusty and exposed to humidity. Where has the whiteness gone, where's the caramel note? I am heart-broken, and glad I didn't get the FB bottle testing again.

When is this going to be available in the US?

Julie Billi

The first impression is rose, rose and rose!
Afterwards turns to an earthy patchouly perfume..
Not for me....

Preliminary review:

Tested it yesterday. I was wearing another 2-3 perfumes at the time, so I am not too sure of the notes, but:
This is soft and warm, I got the benzoin and the amber and not so much the rose.

The thing was, regardless of notes, at first sniff (and subsequent sniffs for that matter) it did remind me very much of the original Aromatics Elixir. Like it was its shadow or a pale version of it (which I guess is the point of the name). It was the same sort of relation like the one between Habanita and Habanita L'Esprit. I was not expecting that, but there it was! Perhaps the patchouli?

In any case, this is very nice and easy to wear. It seemed to me that sillage and longevity were on the weak side, but it was only one (generous) spray, so...

I will re-test and update soon.

Playtime

Just tested it. It is nice but for me nowhere as memorable as aromatics elixir. I find the rose very prominent. It has a vintage quality to it. A vintage well blended rose fragrance.

Oh I do hope this will be the one!!!

Since the reformulation of the original made in Switzerland, I had to give up my signature perfume and although I have tried many others, I still mourn this beautiful scent.

Looking forward to this arriving in New Zealand soon.

Julie Billi

I have the original & looking forward to try this too!!

Chouli Galore

I want it too!
