Miss Dior Cherie by Dior is a Chypre Fruity fragrance for women. Miss Dior Cherie was launched in 2005. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel. Top notes are Cherry, Strawberry, Pineapple and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Popcorn, Caramel, Rose, Jasmine and Violet; base notes are Patchouli, Musk and Amber.

Dior is introducing a new and charming girl, Miss Dior Cherie. Face of the perfume is Riley Keough, Elvis Presley\'s oldest granddaughter, and the bottle resembles the one of Miss Dior of 1947. This fragrance, although it features the same basic components like its famous predecessor, is not at all a remake of Miss Dior. Sweet and gourmand notes of pop corns in the heart, so unusual, make this perfume appealing to youngsters. Miss Dior Cherie is young and romantic, she possesses good taste and style, she looks smart, but youth is youth, and this young lady looks pretty with a pop corn bag in hands. The top notes are wild strawberry leaves and green tangerine. The heart features caramel pop corns surrounded by violets, wild strawberry, so strong and seductive and pink jasmine. The base is created of fresh patchouli leaves and crystalline musk.

Miss Dior Cherie was launched in 2005. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel.

I will never understand why Dior could never bring it back. It was such a stunning scent. Unforgettable even.

chanelgirl

I'm so sad they discontinued this lovely fragrance. It was perfect for work and always got compliments when I wore it.

starchie8

Reminds me of being 12-15 and reading Elle Girl/Teen Vogue and seeing the iconic ads and smelling the magazine samples. Maybe for that reason, this is an extremely aspirational smell for me - like what a glamorous young woman smells like. Sweet, but not cloying, and unique, and RICH. That fucking Brigitte Bardot song from the Sophia Coppola ads plays in my head every time I smell this.

I only get a hint of the caramel/popcorn - definitely blends into the other notes in a subtle way for me.

snel hest

Can confirm - Perfume Parlours "Realistic For Women 0309" is a perfect match for Miss Dior Chérie. I cannot tell the difference between the PP version and my bottle of MDC. Sillage is excellent and it also lasts all day without issues.
You do not have to pay the ridicilous ebay prices anymore, just grab the PP version for a lot less and you are good to go.

Cherie was sooo beautiful! DIVAIN from Spain gives an exellent dupe - number 133 -- if you search for one.
I have heard that some ingredients in Cherie were forbidden by new laws, that is why it was deleted.

perfumelovere

I have Miss Class from DUA and while it's not the original gem, it's divine. People have been complimenting me left and right. It's also strong and long lasting but not in a fill up a room kind of way. I love layering this with strawberry poundcake from BBW. It brings out the fruity gourmand ingredients.

Linis

For all of you who miss this fragrance dearly (I never got the chance to smell it before it was discontinued and it existed before I got into fragnances) the dua brand makes a version of this with the vintage formulation called Miss Class.

I love the dua-version and according to the reviews for it, it's close to Miss Dior Cherie. :D

bruby15

I remember I loved this years ago but did not buy it because I had loads of perfume at the time and still have.
I just bought a dupe from Blossomperfumery and it is amazing. So sad I did not buy this when I had the chance...
I think Dior is becoming my new favourite perfume house after years of loving Guerlain, Givenchy and Cartier.
I love anything with patchouli in it and especially this one as it has that slightly bitter note of patchouli in the middle of all those sweet notes. Love love love.

EdenRosa

PLEASE BRING THIS BACK! I never fell in love with any other perfume, this is the only ONE! It’s been 20 years! I wish I can wear it again before I really get old and lost all the passion for fragrance . PLEASE! Bring it back!

Stephaniejo

BRING THIS BACK DIOR.. .PLEASE!!!!!!!

Elisabeth M.

Why oh why did Dior discontinue this masterpiece? This perfume is such a gem. It is gourmand done right and way more elevated than todays generic sugar bombs. All following versions can only aspire to live in its shadow. Dior, please bring this perfume back!

anggelloo

dying to get my hands on this and expand my miss dior collection .. does anyone have an old back up bottle or a bottle they're willing to part ways with.. preferably with box ! thanks everyone <3

Nothing has come close to this Queen of scents. The fragrance list and marketing description didn't do this 5-Star fragrance justice, it had something so special.
The soft, strong impact and flutter of flowers, fruits and gourmands has left a lasting memory...

Franrose

I’ve just found a large bottle of this abandoned in the back of my under-sink cupboard - I can’t remember where I got it but I suspect it was a gift from my mum and for that reason (and the fact that I had two small toddlers and rarely had the time for perfume in those years) I think I assumed it was an old lady fragrance & shelved it mostly untested. Yikes. I’ve just pulled it out and for the first time looked at what it actually is as those toddlers have grown up and are looking at various Miss Diors (and others) themselves. I like it, but am getting to know it amongst a few others we’ve purchased decants of so t̶h̶e̶ j̶u̶r̶y̶ i̶s̶ s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ o̶u̶t it turns out, it's quite lovely! I definitely get a strawberry sparkle and caramel popcorn. So glad I didn't assume the worst and throw it out!

UnearthlyApothecary

Miss Dior Cherie was the beginning of the fruit-chouli craze. I have smelled so many scents trying to emulate it since its release, but nothing has ever come close. Dior’s never ending reformulations have completely butchered it. Even as early as 2012 it smelled nothing like the original. I just don’t get it. I haven’t purchased a Dior scent since they started that crap and refuse to buy second hand bottles that weren’t made prior to 2008. I have a 2008 tester bottle of Miss Dior Cherie and it has held up very well. The patchouli seems to have intensified over the years but maybe that’s just me. It’s a guilty pleasure and it’s almost too much but in the best possible way. Excellent throw and lasting power.

Malinkabby

can we all just start emailing dior and pressure them to bring this back please

Blossomlove

Dear Dior Fragrances,

Please, please bring this edition back. Even if only for a summer, I'm begging you! This was the BEST fragrance ever and if I would have known you were going to DC it, I would have bought a lifetime surplus and found a way to preserve it. Anyway, please rerelease this beautiful, decadent, lovely fragrance.
Love,
Shelby Crabtree

Lightly buttered popcorn sits besides a juicy, caramelized fruit cocktail with strawberry as the star. That popcorn note is something! done in such an edible yet refined way. Definitely has the modern Miss Dior fruit-chuli DNA but made special with savory popcorn.

It really is worth trying if you can get it for a reasonable price. I purchased my bottle pre-loved so the top notes have completely gone off. No matter, I’m here for the popcorn :)

perfumelovere

I have the DUA impersonation of the 2005 vintage formula named Miss Class. I'm going to let this sit for a few months because right now I'm getting more rose and patchouli than the other notes. It's still really beautiful fresh out of the bottle but I'm hoping with a bit of time to macerate, the fruity notes, popcorn and caramel become more prominent so that it leans gourmand and a little less soapy. I'm smelling my wrist now and just can't get enough of that 2000's vibe. This is the refined less syrupy version of Armani Si.

leoniecamille

I miss her so much

ChookWarren85

First spritz opens like a sweet fizzy Prosecco with fresh strawberry, cherry and pineapple notes and then the warm buttered popcorn, caramel and red rose come to the forefront and settles with a hum of musk and amber. Although it's sweet, it's not sickly. It was my first 'big girl' designer scent and I keep returning to it all these years later. Somehow I don't get sick of it. I'm thrilled to have found an exact dupe here in Australia. I must stock up!

sabs1205

Honestly, I could go on and on about how beautiful and timeless this fragrance is… but you probably already know that.

I’m shocked Dior hasn’t brought this original recipe of perfection back to the shelves, considering the amount of people that have begged for it to come back have so for over a decade. Of course, whatever drama happened behind the scenes, caused the re-release to OF COURSE be completely different than the original………… which doesn’t make it a re-release, just a new, okay version of the original, iconic one.

Dior: do us a solid and bring THIS one back, please.

Looking for a bottle (doesn't matter if it's full or used) within the EU <3

stella.cherie

Words cannot begin to describe how much I love this fragrance. In theory, I shouldn't love it because I don't normally gravitate towards fruity, sweet, or gourmand scents. This has all of the above and yet it's in my top 3 fragrances for life. This is the exact scent expression of my youthful, feminine, bubbly, and carefree side.

The very first time when I sprayed this, I was immediately hit by a full blast of strawberries. It was incredibly sweet and I was so ready to discount it. However, the sweetness started to meld with the rest of the notes, counter balanced by the earthiness of the patchouli and it became a love with time. The patchouli is key here to balancing what could've been a sickly sweet, juvenile scent. It comes more to the forefront as it dries down without that dirty quality that some patch scents have. And this lasts. I can still smell it on my skin the following day.

I fall more in love with Miss Dior Cherie each time I wear this. There are days when I absolutely crave it and NEED to have this all over me. There are not enough words to describe the amount of joy this (and the entire MDC line) brings me.

I have collected every formulation of MDC EDP and 2005 and 2011 are my favorite, though nothing can beat this 2005 original version.

Edit: Willing to swap my 1.7oz backup for any of the unicorns on my "Want" shelf. CONUS.

coffeebean83

Bright cheery notes of cherry, strawberry and pineapple greet you first. Then sweet salt(caramel & popcorn note) coats the fruit adding a delicious texture and slowing getting just a little heavier & musky as it goes through the middle notes and into the darker base. Love this perfume. It's a shame it's discontinued. And yes, I know the story behind that and understand why it was done. But still a beautiful Miss Dior addition that will always be missed.

Faedriel

I have only really been pissed off about two perfumes being discontinued - and both of them are Dior! 🙃
This was perfect. This was my signature scent. This was my holy grail. It was just perfect for me. Then it was discontinued because the new head of fragrance at Dior decided they weren’t going to make it anymore because they thought it smelled “cheap” even though it was insanely popular.

GOOD NEWS GALS. I can 100% confirm that Perfume Parlour’s “Realistic 0309” is an EXACT dupe. I mean 100% exact - I smelled my og bottle* along side PP’s and they’re the same. The price is great too.
I ordered the largest size they offered at the time and it was something like….$16?
If you are mourning the loss of this fragrance to this day, dry your tears and head to Perfume Parlour. You will be ecstatic and overcome with joy when your bottle arrives I promise you.

(*i mean the 05 OG. (And of course if you’re looking to sell a bottle of the ‘05 please PM me. I would like another bottle even though the dupe is perfect. It’s the completionist in me)

Please Dior bring back the old Miss Dior Cherie formula fragrance again. I dont understand it was the one of the best selling fragrances for the few years it was out why did they remove it. Hopefully Francis Kurkdjian will revive and bring back the old Miss Dior Cherie formula. Literally it would be the best selling fragrance in the world. Dior Miss Dior Cherie .

odorteca

Miss Dior Chérie (2005) is not exactly my favorite type of perfume, but I insist on having it for one simple reason: because it is the most youthful, cheerful, charming and even daring perfume I have, the closest thing to a “gourmand” that I can wear without headache. I've had other bottles, sold them, regretted selling them and today I have one again to keep for good.

A fruity-syrupy opening, loaded with strawberries bathed by a juicy pineapple together with a clean and dry woody patchouli that presents itself from start to finish as a guiding thread; As the fruits tone down, Chérie begins to take on the contours of something similar to a buttery caramel, a sweet beautifully contrasted with something a bit salty: caramel popcorn.

This gourmand aspect of the fruits and caramel popcorn could easily fall into the cloying and childish smell if it weren't for this counterpoint of clean/dry patchouli plus white musk and amber, which make the aroma more elegant, sophisticated, unmistakably French, because after all , this is still a Dior.

It lasts excellently on my skin, around +8h and with good projection too. You don't need to overdo it with sprays. It grows better in milder climates, as it tends to get “warmer” over time.

In the end, Miss Dior Chérie still lives up to its slogan at the time of its launch: “The charm of Dior in a bottle!”.

The current new version of Miss Dior has nothing to do with this one - and honestly? It doesn't come close to its charm and grace. What a pity it is discontinued.

jojohanaz

Looking to buy Miss Dior Cherie. Please message me! My bottle is almost completely gone 😭

Delrey2002

Very sweet, fruity and feminine scent. I know it has flowers but I can almost only smell cherries and strawberries, in a good way though. It's my spring signature scent, but it's suitable for all seasons, and one of my favorites.

Fatima1219

I've been wearing Miss Dior Cherie for at least 10 years--and, I enjoy the fragrance! I received it as a Mother's Day gift from my husband. I'll admit--at first, I did not care for it. I found the flowers cloying, and believed it to be quite mature. Although, I was never the biggest fan of Cherie--I continued to wear it regularly. After while, I grew to really enjoy this fragrance and began to really appreciate its unique qualities. To my nose, the floral bouquet is huge! I have never picked up the fruity notes, nor the popcorn-- only the flowers, amber, and musk. This fragrance is the very definition of class and elegance. It is slightly clean and very aromatic, with lovely sillage and longevity. It is great for all seasons, especially, when the air outside is both cold and crisp. Miss Dior Cherie is for the sophisticated, stylish woman, who wants to be taken seriously. This is a prime example of why, we as perfume lovers, need to continue to experiment with the fragrances that we do not naturally gravitate towards. Some of them may be hidden gems-- at later stages of our lives. Although, I do not perceive Cherie to be a safe blind buy, it is great for the woman who loves the smell of a large bouquet.

Melody Valentine

I didn't think I'd like any of the Miss Dior line. I've ignored it for years coz I didn't like floral perfumes and for some reason I thought they were very flowery, don't know why but I did.

I recently realised I loved rose, and I've started to like florals more in general and I'd kept hearing about this perfume and how people missed it and all that. Then I found a sample of Miss Dior edp I've had for ages and really liked it.

Anyway, cut to yesterday when I was ordering a box of samples of dupes, you got to pick 5 and I'd picked my 4 and thought why not, they had this one so I got it. It came today first class. So I know it's not the real one but I wanted an idea of what it was like. Mine is from Eden Perfumes, Miss Cherry 032.

Yeah, it's gorgeous. The woman in Boots just told me I smell beautiful when I was buying a knee strap for my bad knee. Nobody ever does that, and I always smell gorgeous 😂 it's usually people I know who tell me though.

So yeah, it's a fruit-chouli but it's a lovely one. I can still smell it going strong now and I sprayed it ages ago. I've heard people say it's no good in hot weather but it's hot today and the heat just made it better and stronger. It's not turned sweaty on me. I keep getting whiffs of strawberry, cherry, syrupy fruits (which I'd usually hate) and patchouli but not THAT kind. There's a salted caramel smell, from the popcorn note and I find the way it's blended makes the patchouli a bit salty. It's hard to explain. It's kinda generic smelling in a way but in the air it's addictive. Something about it makes it just a bit different to the other perfumes of it's kind. I've proper fallen for it already. It hits the spot for the rose lover and the gourmand girly in me.

I can see why people are gutted it's discontinued now. It really is lovely. I'll be buying a full bottle of this dupe because I don't know if it's any different to the og and I don't care. This is lush. I've seen a couple of reviews on YouTube that say it's 99% the same though. The notes are all the same, popcorn included. It's not super unique, I get that, but I really like it. It's not worlds away from the Miss Dior edp but it is different. I prefer this one.

I know lots of people on here refuse to buy dupes/clones but it's discontinued anyway, so it makes no difference to Dior and if nobody buys them they'll stop making them. Eventually there'll be no real ones left to buy so if you really love a perfume then the bottle shouldn't matter. Plus, I've got tons of clones and loads of legit perfumes and most of the time the clone out performs, especially if it's a designer perfume.

I'm just saying, there's options if you miss it that much.

marialena888m

Flowers, sweet strawberries and juicy sour cherries generously drizzled with warm salted caramel, garnished with dark green oakmoss and served on a plate made of patchouli. Yes, the 2005 formula definitely had oakmoss in the base, and there are a few other floral notes not listed, I think lily of the valley was one of them. My God, this was SO good, addictive smell, it was delicious but not in a gourmand way, rather it alludes to something luxuriously indulgent and gourmand. The best fruitcholli ever created, period. It was truly unique and distinctive. It’s: gooey sweet, buttery, salty, juicy, tangy, dense, warm, fresh, fruity, floral, green/mossy, woody, musky all at once, all seamlessly blended into a rich, elegant potion…just amazing! It used to be my fall/winter signature. There’s really NOTHING like it in today’s market. This was a polarizing scent back then because of the so-called ‘popcorn’ note that added a nuance of saltiness (honestly, just smelled like salted caramel to me), it was just too ‘quirky’ for some, especially contrasted with the rather mature mossy/woody chypre base (many of the girls my age and older thought it smelled too mature, while the more mature ladies thought it was too fruity-sweet and girlish). It was not polarizing to the level of Angel, but people did seem to either love or hate it. It did tend to develop a ‘BO’ odor if I attempted to wear it in warm weather, but in cool weather I wore it unapologetically, and I would get stopped, complete strangers wanting to know what my perfume was, and people I knew then associated this whimsical, beautiful, happy scent with me. I loved the 2010 EDT as well, it smelled similar, but lighter, less sweet and more versatile, more suitable for all year round use. It’s too bad this baby (and the EDT variant) is gone. I still remember the scent vividly, as if it’s under my nostrils…it’s that iconic and memorable.

PS. The reviewers below talking about it being a light scent, and then someone else mentioned an aquatic note…whhaaaa??…your bottles must be fakes, becareful with eBay purchases, this is why I just don’t bother hunting down for a bottle, too many fakes circulating around…the Miss Dior Cherie I knew scented the whole interior of the cupboard I stored it in just by sitting there. Sillage so huge my mom could smell me as soon as I entered the house. The juice was really dense and rich, similar in thickness and potency to Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I purchased CMI because the richness of the drydown reminded me of MDC (no, they do not smell similar, but both are ‘luxurious’ fruitchoulis).

Alexjan

For those who love this perfume, I heard about a dupe that should be similar it’s
Lattafa Sondos.

I have a 1.7 Ml-90% full bottle of Miss Dior Cherie Dior -batch code 9X02 the 2005 formula but the in between bottle design. I’d like to sell it or swap it for the 2011 version or others on my “want” shelf. DM if interested. I lost the cap :( I do still have the bow. I’ll be posting it on my Mercari and Poshmark shops soon. CONUS

NurseElle

I have a legit 2005 bottle but it doesn't last more than 30 minutes on my skin.. 😞
I get the strawberry cherry and pineapple and the patch, but then it's gone and I don't know why it's so fleeting?

DebsyDoo

Watch out there’s lots of fake miss dior cherie on eBay! They even have batch codes on the box but when you take perfume out there’s no batch code on the bottle and no dior branding on the reverse of the label just to warn people … the fakes are of the 2008-2011 with labels on bottles.

Angelxo

I’m looking for a bottle. DM me please

alanav09

to everyone wondering about the discontinuation - its because the creative director (or something like that) at the time - who had commissioned this fragrance- was caught in a drunk scandal, and Dior decided to cut all ties... including reformulating this masterpiece

Ground hound

Very interesting symphony- I see it as a rose, jasmin, amber and musk have suddenly fallen into a pit filled with fresh berries and fruit :)
The start and the ending of this are so different, it is truly amazing. For a second I actually though- wait I read it was a fruity perfume, what`s with all this amber and rose? And then bam!- it changed Completely. It changed into one of the fruitiest non-citrus perfumes out there.

Nice imitation of the real fresh strawberry smell- this is a gourmet strawberry.
Feminine, pleasant, tasty. Reminds of L`Imperatrice by DG, but with much more strawberry.
No idea what popcorn note is mentioned here- I smell none of this.
P.S the strong smell of strawberry outcompetes the cherry here- if I didn`t know it was called "cherie", I would barely single it out.

Miss Dior Cherie edp. This one I purchased a few years ago off eBay. Batchcode from April 2007. Spraying this on my arm now, Oh my goooood! I'm actually getting emotional. But mostly happy! Because it smells so good. It just puts a smile on my face. Almost in tears. It reminds me of working at the Chanel counter in David Jones, Sydney. And Dior was our rival, but I could not resist Miss Dior Cherie when it first launched in 2005. I also loved many Chanel fragrances, which we received plenty of, and are also favourites. (and we had to wear Chanel while while at the counter of course) But this perfume.... was something completely groundbreaking and new. It wasnt like everone lovedbit back then, but no one was indifferent about it. They loved it or hated it. Some said it was too immature and sweet. But my goooooodness, I just loved it! It became my signature scent, and it was until it was first reformulated and turned too patchouli on me. As I'm smelling it in 2023, almost 20 years later, it's still perfection. Its not sweet at all, compared to the norm of today's popular scents. And thereby also the new Miss Dior 2021. Now that it sweet. Miss Dior Cherie however was just perfectly fruity. Christine Nagel composed a classic with this. The fruits and accords are true and authentic and not synthetic or a blend of generic "fruits". And the balance of pineapple, strawberry and cherry it hints of gourmand, and the chypre notes are just divine. Elegant! Sophisticated! No vanilla "bomb", no flower "bomb", no fruit "bomb" no "patchuli-bomb". Its hard to explain because its nothing like today's fragrances. If it came out today I don't think it would be as popular. It's just not sweet or gourmand or floral enough to please the crowd. I used to have the shower gel, the deodorant (still have one) and body moisturiser, and they all smelled exactly like the edp. What a bliss and blessing it was to be shower-fresh and perfumed with the full circle of Miss Dior Cherie. If you wonder if it smells like the new Miss Dior 2021, it does not. Neither does it resemble the previous versions from Francois Demachy. The Miss Dior Cherie edp 2005 is fruity, salty, sweet and chypre in a fresh and dewy way that is just not done today. A sparkling gem. Nothing compares. Now what to do? Use it, or let it sit in the bathroom cupboard because its too precious to actually use?

Sophia97

This is just beautiful. Very classy, feminine and not overpowering. It could be worn all seasons I mean at least I do.

Hifza

This fragrance is magic in itself. Fresh, fruity and classic is the combination which makes it so elegant. A very soft and natural fragrance. I found it to be a perfect scent for me like Dior especially designed it for me.

M0nalisa

Best fragrance ever, pure love. Fruits, caramel, popcorn combo makes it very interesting and unique. I will never understand why they discontinued this masterpiece.

lmwimsatt

I'd always been curious about this original miss Dior, so l bought the body wash. The owner had to convince me it wasn't miss Dior blooming bouquet at 1st. That really makes sense bc mdc blooming bouquet was the flanker. After a few tries l could definitely tell the difference bc l love blooming bouquet and don't care for this at all.

SabrinaFair

My mom used to wear this perfume and I remembered it well into my adult years! Now I can buy it myself and it’s gone ., luckily people still have version online and dupes here and there. It’s a beautiful fruity opening but not sick or fake fruit, it’s sophisticated and friendly but complex. I don’t even smell popcorn or patchouli or too much wood. It’s just fresh and lasts for hours!

ca$hm3re

Found it quite hard To like actually! Maybe because I’m used to the likes of Dior in 2022 this was a big step away from all that. A much deeper almost woodsy fragrance. Think I’m realising that I have a problem with Cherry notes on a lot of perfumes. So hurry personal taste 🤷♀️

duckiescents

I question, even with all the comments and reviews on Fragratica to this day, and this perfume being discontinued well over 10 years ago, why Dior refuses to bring it back is beyond me. Just like Midnight Poison should have never been discontinued. Why do they take something we love so much away? When we all know both of these perfumes would sell today.

barry1052

I really like this scent, I did not really care a lot at first!! was expecting a true strawberry caramel popcorn scents... but at first sniff it is not what I was expecting. I can not smell any caramel and the popcorn notes, all I can smell was a strawberry patchouli scent(I was spraying from a little decant bottle).

I got a 100ml full bottle by chance, I sprayed it once again OMGGGG why it smells so different from the little decant bottle, it is truly magic upon the first spray, I can detect Strawberry Pineapple the most at first, the cherry accord is more like a supporting character to the fruity accord. after the fruity burst I can FINALLY detect the popcorn notes, for me the popcorn is buttery savory not sweet at all (not caramel popcorn) it balanced the sweet fruity accord giving twisting the perfume into a little bit more mature feeling, instead of a no-brainer fruitchouli scents, this is quite a interesting twist, fragrances now a days usually will turn super sweet and floral in designer range, but this a really good balance between the sweet fruity accord and the buttery popcorn accord!

On the base the patchouli strengthen complexity and the longevity for this fragrance, I really like this really really, it is between a playful cheerful and a mature person, who started to know what he/she wants in their mid 20's. sophistication and flirty at the same time, this is how I would describe this legendary Miss Dior Cherie (2005), have been stocking up this version lately hunted down 2 100ml bottles from Japan in a really reasonable price, the price on eBay is crazy.

Simply became my everyday daytime fragrance. My new signature scent. I know it is impossible that Dior would re-release this again lol but I hope Dior would really bring it back someday... please Dior

This is the review I penned for MDC, circa 2012. I still miss this fragrance so very much.

The moment that this fragrance hits my skin, I smell lightly sweetened strawberry preserves served on top of creamy, buttery toast. I also smell fresh pineapple juice. The initial phase is rather gourmand. Soon enough, though, a clear, bright violet note lends itself to the mix, adding a clean crispness to the otherwise buttery, salty sweetness. Miss Dior Cherie is really beautifully composed! It smells like a perfect summer day, when I feel so pretty and carefree. I love that this perfume is sparkling sweet, fruity, gourmand and fresh, while still smelling expensive and elegant. That is no easy feat. This would make a lovely, unique, very wearable addition to most any woman's fragrance wardrobe. Additionally, I don't normally comment on the appearance of bottles, but I have to admit that this is one of the most gorgeous flacons that I have ever laid eyes on. The bottle and the whimsical advert for MDC fit perfectly with the fragrance.

Burberry Her has a very little resemblance to my nose. Her is a heavy ambroxan bomb too. Apologies for having different opinion

PerfumeryAddict

Ahh, Miss Dior Cherie…the 2005 version brings me back to my college days. My favorite perfume in the world which was stolen from my dorm room. Had I known this would be discontinued I would have immediately gone out and purchased another. I’ve never recovered and have been searching for a dupe ever since.

Enter: Burberry Her EDP.

To my nose, Burberry Her EDP would be Miss Dior Cherie if it included the popcorn note. Everything single other note it there. For those of you searching for your long lost love, Miss Dior Cherie…go check out Burberry Her. I’m SO HAPPY!!!!!

_NicoleNonya

Smells great, 2005 version. Unfortunately, not made any longer. I ended up getting the OP version. It's unfortunate CD doesn't release the 2005 version.
I pair this with VS's strawberries & champaign lotion & body spray. That popcorn note is magical. 💗

Shaina87

I had a bottle of this when I was 18 right after it came out. I remember smelling a paper sample in a magazine while I was at work. I loved it so much that when I got off I went straight to Dillard's and bought a bottle. It became my signature scent, And I wore it to my high school graduation. It was a bright, fizzy and fruity scent on me. I'd LOVE to have another bottle. Such a shame that Dior discontinued this one. They need to bring it back! 😭

DebbyDeb22222

I loved it at first sniff but the price for 100ml was more than I had ever paid at the time (2006, $65). Fortunately, the sales clerk threw in a deluxe mini. I got many compliments including a coworker who lost his mind saying how great I smelled and I should wear it every day. It was the perfect strength and I got whiffs of it throughout the day without it being overbearing. Over the years I tried other fragrances but none were as special. When my bottle got low enough to repurchase, it was already too late to reliably purchase a genuine 2005 version.
Even more upsetting that the remaining milliliters and the deluxe mini smell great while a much newer, unused
mini and half used bottle of J'adore have gone bad sitting just inches apart on my dresser. Like a previous reviewer, I would give my pinkie toe (right, not left) to get a fresh, new bottle of the 2005 version today. Going to try the Oil Perfumery version soon. Fingers crossed.

Susi.312

Never smelled this, but I remember Soki's lament on YouTube about the end of this perfume. I am just doing my public service by letting you know that Oil Perfumery has a dupe of it and it is rated 4.9 stars. I must say that popcorn note has me intrigued! I may get myself a bottle...its only $14.99!

NEWS FLASH...I did get a bottle and I think I like it. Honestly, I do not get any popcorn from this. However, it does really remind me of a stronger, and a touch more heavy/bitter, Mon Paris. I really really wish I could smell the popcorn!

jedrzejowskia

This is my HG perfume. I cannot explain why. Well maybe I can. I guess all of these things have to do with our olfactive memories and this scent hit me right in the feels and stayed there.
It corresponds with the newness, freshness, young, excited, positive and delightfullness me. At the middle of my twenties I didn't wear it. No sir and mam, not me. A friend of mine. Who I worked with. However this scent became the epitome of what was in amazement seen through almost silly and naive eyes at the amazing future that could be ahead me, all of us. The warm sunny nights (even though it rained like 99% of the time, it was Ireland after all)
So this scent aquarelle I plop out on days when I want or need to feel special, when it's sunny and when I feel 25, 26 and not a care in the world again.
It's so beautiful with its peppery, fruity-sweet patchouli bitterness perfection. Coco mademoiselle done better and for trying to impersonate, perhaps beheaded. I lament with those who have not been able to experience this popcorny fairy champagne strawberry. Because this? This is what heaven will smell like for me.

If you're looking for this fragrance, Soki London has a Kickstarter campaign for a fragrance called Empress. Her favorite fragrance Miss Dior Cherie discontinued and therefore made this fragrance. Like Cherie, Empress has a unique popcorn note!!
(Empress is built on a delectable foundation of floral heart notes; rose, peony, iris and lily of the valley add a strength of character to ethereal notes of berry, popcorn, toffee and pear. Empress leaves a lasting impression with a silky accord of tender woods and musks, wrapped in green vines which ground and connect us with nature and ourselves.)

Although it is the Natalie Portman ad campaign that I remember, it was the original Miss Dior Chérie that I fell in love with as a pre-teen. I recently found a miniature EDP from 2005 on eBay, and it brings back memories. I never owned MDC, but it was one I liked to spray at department stores. It felt like Dior's answer to Coco Mademoiselle - pink, patchouli-heavy, younger target audience etc. Unapologetically sweet and girly, it seemed to be the height of sophistication then. Now, after more reformulations and re-releases than I can count, pink Miss Dior feels tired at best, and I have little interest in its generic, syrupy-floral mediocrity. The original Chérie, however, will always have a special place in my heart. It makes sense that the consistently excellent Christine Nagel is the nose behind this one. MDC is a floral-fruity, a typical noughties release, but it is a cut above the rest. Nicely composed, well-blended and pretty without being overwhelmingly syrupy, this really was impressive stuff.

MDC opens with sweet strawberry notes, bolstered by some syrupy cherry in the background. I don't usually like pineapple, but here it is an excellent addition, adding a hint of tropical sweetness while being nicely restrained. Some citrus notes add freshness. A cloud of patchouli emerges pretty early on, giving a nice earthiness. It is never too sweet - a rarity among floral-fruities.

As it develops, floral notes emerge, notably a lovely sweet rose. I get powdery violet in there, and a hint of caramel-popcorn, but instead of being weird or overly gourmand, it simply adds a bit of interest. As it dries down, it becomes musky and a hint of vanilla enhances the delicate sweetness. The patchouli complements each stage perfectly, providing an earthy counterpoint to the sweet notes like strawberry and rose. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

One of the best floral fruities out there, MDC strikes a perfect balance between being elegant and feminine, yet sweet and youthful - a "blonde-with-a-brain" perfume. It is a real pity it has been replaced by a long line of inferior flankers. MDC was the original, and easily the best. 4/5.

Decluttering the original Miss Dior Cherie. It's 50ml and half used. Message me if you're looking for a bottle in US and Canada!

mariboo

The superior Miss Dior. All the newer re-editions can't compete with this one. It was absolutely perfect. Delicate, rich, and elegant. I wish they would bring it back.

lizaan

This was my first designer perfume, my mom gifted it to me when I was around 14 years old after I read that it was Beyoncés fave perfume. I still think about it sometimes and I wish they would bring the old formulation back. I have the 2011 version and it's nice but I still miss that popcorn note.

prava.slava.mama

It's been years, but I remember that this was gifted to me; it smelled nice but was way too strong and made my nose hurt. I think I'm just not a high-end perfume kind of gal; I need something a little softer and more natural. I only used essential oils for years after this. Might be great for some, but not my style!

LovePerfumes65

I just need to say that I’m still bummed that they have not brought back this exact perfume. I remember being a teenager and trying it on while walking around the mall. The smell of the caramel popcorn and strawberry and slight spice was so beautiful and intoxicating. I didn’t know then if it was too “grown up” for me — and I couldn’t afford much. I still regret it to this day and I still think about that smell and feeling I have walking around that mall. When I finally went back for it it was reformulated and not AT ALL the same. I settled for CM and then could barely wear it bc it was just too heavy and lacked the brightness and sweetness of this. PLEASE just bring this back and with the gorgeous caramel popcorn!!! Who knew caramel popcorn would be so memorable?! 😂

icelle

natfran98, my experience is not too different from yours! My first few sprays out of the nozzle were horrifyingly close to Coco Mademoiselle. But subsequent sprays are softer and more fruity/sweet. My appreciation has been improving the more I wear it.

Mjchaelj

I remember going to the Sephora in the local mall as a teenager in the late aughts just to spray this on my wrist, and sniff it as I shopped. The caramel popcorn/strawberry combo was just amazing. The Miss Dior of today is just a shadow of its former self. This is what a gourmand should smell like. I hope they bring this back one day.

I currently have a 50ml Miss Dior Cherie that i bought 12-13 years ago at a duty free shop - batch code checker suggests it was from Jan 2009 (i.e. the reformulated 2008 version). These days it's at the back of my perfume shelf - I have kept it as a keepsake all these years but part of me also wants to sell it so someone who loves it can enjoy it. (There's at least 80% juice left and I actually also kept the box!).

I like it, although I haven't really sprayed it on myself for years - it's the only powdery scent I can tolerate though. The opening is very powdery but after 5 minutes, it becomes creamier, which I find to be pleasant. On another note, maybe I'm envisioning a different popcorn scent, but I really don't get any :S

I smelled some reformulations or maybe it was the blooming bouquet flanker but they were juicier and I actually almost preferred that over the one I have. Is it blasphemous to suggest that? It's still a pretty scent - a youthful powdery fruity delight.

For those who are nostalgic over the old formulation, I understand the yearning (just like that feeling over any other discontinued fragrance), but for those who haven't smelled it before, I don't think you should fret over it. The new versions are probably unique and beautiful in their own way and all the people 10 years from now will probably look for the current formulation.

Controlledbyscent31

I managed to get a vintage of this In a minature set and it just doesn't last on my skin and I instantly get chanel coco mademoiselle vibes along with blush from new look & revolutions perfume in the pink bottle.
I don't feel I've missed out on anything.

icelle

Edit: This is better after a week of wearing it, and now I can say that nothing available on the market today is quite the same. This is a fresh strawberry champagne with sweet popcorn, soft musk and whisper of minty patchouli. It is different from other gourmand fruitchoulis of today because it remains fresh and sparklingly sweet throughout (not overly sticky-sweet and jammy, or suffocatingly vanilla.)

The closest fragrance still available is maybe Coco Mademoiselle *eau de toilette*, which is less sweet and has sharper patchouli (not nearly as delicious.) Or, if you took La Vie Est Belle EDP and replaced pear topnote with fresh strawberry, and toned way, WAY down the sugar/praline bomb...that is how I might imagine a sister of MDC. YSL Mon Paris smells like synthetic shampoo...and Burberry Her EDP is a man in drag (very masculine drydown that starts off with strawberry cream.)

I echo the others that it is actually a shame this version of MDC doesn't remain.

-----
Original review:
I acquired a January 2009 barely-used bottle of this MDC (astounding how the perfume kept so well) at a very fair price and here is my review.

2005-2009 Miss Dior Cherie EdP is fruity, gently gourmand, slightly powdery floral with a cloudy soft musk base. Patchouli nearly undetectable. It is the most cohesive version of the 2005-2016 Miss Diors. A carefree, pretty thing not taking herself too seriously. Does not register at all as a true chypre, because there's no bitter/earthy tension, but I might classify it as a fruity gourmand neo-chypre, and it's one of the most refined.

I prefer the drydowns of 2011 & 2012 MDC with more prominent patchouli and other earthy/woody qualities--I am partial to these basenotes. However, they stand out less from the crowd of other neo-chypres and don't have the addictive quality of a gourmand. It's been a while since I sampled Gris Dior, but I believe Francois Demachy tweaked 2011 MDC, replaced the orange-strawberry for bergamot, toned down the florals to androgyny, and amped up oakmoss to create Gris.

I will finish up this 2009 bottle of MDC, but in my opinion, more delicious, feminine, gourmandy successors were born since then...so perfume lovers who do not own one should not feel like they have missed out. <3

Goosegal999

I love this so much and it breaks my heart it’s been “reformulated” to an unrecognizable formula. I do enjoy the other versions but none as much as this.
This is a bright, sweet fragrance but sweet in a very balanced way. Unique and versatile.
I have the DUA dupe called Miss Class and it’s close but perhaps a bit more “fizzy”. The DUA fragrance has way better lasting power and I’ll take it considering the price of real bottles of this original beauty.

Baloney1

This is a perfumery masterpiece. Br540 of the ‘00s

AdelleA

Smells expensive. Fruity, more floral, a bit musky. I like it, a bit different then what im used to smelling.

blossomluxe

A MASTERPIECE , LEGEND , SMELL LIKE A HEAVEN ... this gem will make you feel happy , luxury , lively , sensual , feminine ... very unique , memorable ... u will get tons of compliments for sure , hand down to one of best woman perfume that ever made

bombekmateya

Just try collection Seventh heaven from Indigo. They dont have a perfume, but they got body lotion, body mist, hand cream, argan oil and they all smell like Cherie.

Anahita3

I wear this when I’m on my way to get something important done, whether it’d be an errand or an appointment just to let everyone know “I’m here” lol definitely a head turner but not annoyingly strong or even offensive. The popcorn is just something else and I love it! Who would’ve thought.

loliirain

Used to love this when it first came out, but never fully appreciated what a wonderful and complex fragrance it was. Years have gone by and I continue to crave that glorious strawberry caramel popcorn opening. Stumbled across a YouTube video recommending DUA Miss Class. It appears this is a newer release so there isn’t much info about yet. Since I had a positive experience with Dua’s sour peach, their dupe for Tom Ford bitter peach, I decided to give Dua’s MDC dupe a chance. And, I’m so glad I did!!

That first spritz sent me right down memory lane. It’s exactly as I remember MDC. Bright, lush strawberries, caramel popcorn, a little bit of patchouli to balance out the sweetness. I will say, Dua is a touch less sweet than I remember MDC being. But, it’s the closest I’ve gotten. It remains a bit linear, keeping the opening and middle notes throughout wear. Although, that’s not necessarily a bad thing since those opening and middle notes are what made MDC such a star.

Overall, I would highly recommend Dua Miss Class for anyone searching for a mdc dupe. I may give the eden perfumes version a try just to compare, but for now I’m extremely happy to have this lovely scent back in my life. Longevity and sillage are excellent.

Scarlett2709

I was gifted a half bottle of the original formulation in 2008. I loved it so much, especially the caramel/popcorn note and the girls in work liked it so much they bought it too! I can’t tell you how sad I was when I learned Dior had reformulated a beautiful, interesting scent into something that was just… “nice”. I was irritated by the ladies on the Dior counters that would try to convince me that Miss Dior was really Miss Dior Cherie but better. Every sales lady I asked about the reformulation was clueless. I am thrilled to have finally sourced an original bottle of MDC, from 2006. I have been looking and weeding out dupes for rather a long time. It’s a nearly full 100ml bottle that’s been stored in a dark place, in its box for donkey’s years. I had a little windfall recently was able to afford the vintage version. Nothing else would do. I feel happy every time I take the lid off and smell the nozzle. I’ve not worn it yet, but I will when the mood takes me and I shall enjoy EVERY minute.

Erica.Cass

Found this beautiful gem recently. Wore it today and got so many compliments! It's so beautiful!

GentleGeranium

This smells almost identical to the Versace Red Jeans. Both are clear. At first sniff one smelt more like apples & one smelt more like honeysuckle but now I can't tell them apart, just that they are different. It smells like there is only a single floral note difference. It's also similar to several other floral/fruit combos such as flowerbomb and D&G Floral Drops.

catswearingperfume

I went through at least 12 bottles of this between 2006 and 2011. I am just as salty now as I was then about it being taken away from us. I recently paid way too much for a vintage bottle, just to have it. I've smelled hundreds of perfumes since its departure, found some favorites, some I actually really love. But I don't love any perfume as much as Miss Dior Cherie 2005. I've been chasing the ghost of MDC for over decade now. I try all the "dupes." Some of them are close. Some of them are not. The closest one I've found is Realistic 0309 by Perfume Parlour, which is 96% the same IMO, even smelling them side by side now. I have not yet tried the Eden perfumes one I've seen mentioned here but will be ordering it later today.

Miss Dior Cherie '05 smells like strawberry champagne to me. It does have a youthful quality about it, but it is sophisticated enough for someone more mature (perhaps with a youthful heart). I mean, here I am in my 40s, still loving it enough years later to write this eulogy for it on Fragrantica, and willing to pay an exorbitant amount of money just to own a vintage bottle that I'm barely able to bring myself to use.

The 2012 version of it, the one where they first dropped "Cherie" from the label — does not smell anything like its predecessor, despite what some others say. The 2012 version really dialed back the strawberry, extinguished any trace of the champagne quality it once had, and amped up the patchouli to Coco Mademoiselle levels. In fact, if anything, it smelled more like an empty shell of Mademoiselle than anything Dior Cherie. Don't even get me started on the 2017 edition.

Listen, Francis Demachy makes a lot of fragrances I enjoy. Some of them are even favorites. But I don't think I can ever forgive him for butchering Nagel's perfection. It was so unnecessary.

Amandatavares

Soo beautiful, makes me happy. I should say made because I don’t have anything left in the bottle. I have it just because I love it so much sigh!!! I wish they would just bring it back 😩

rosesblanches

On a trip overseas, when I was in college, my friends and I pooled money and bought a set of Dior minis. Everyone picked a scent to use and I picked Cherie, although I was supposedly not keen on "girly things". "Smells like a princess," I said nonchalantly. Then when we came back, guess who bought the full size at duty-free? Fell head over heels in love with this. But the price....

Anahita3

My favorite perfume ever, it instantly lifts my mood when I wear it I feel like I can take over the world ☺️ I wish there was some kind of petition we could sign to make them remake this original one, in the meantime I’ll treasure the little bit I have left and rewatch the Natalie Portman commercial about it sigh*

Erica.Cass

Fruity a little sweet, I love it!

LoveMeDo7

The wait is over! You can get the beautiful Miss Dior Cherie 2005 version under a different name! Eden perfume, No 032, Miss Cherry smells exactly like my beloved perfume! When I opened the box, the beautiful fragrance that I had worn for 10 years was now back in my hands! I’m in heaven!

russ0975

I wish the patchouli in this was more refined. I'm very picky about patchouli and how it's used in a fragrance.

pandasniffs

A perfect hit of pineapple and cherry at first, but in a subtle way, they don't smack you in the face. The popcorn caramel are definitely there underneath, and come to the fore in the dry down with the patchouli. A bit synthetic smelling, but not 'cheap' smelling either. I had a 2012 or 2011 version before this, and I seem to remember that was more floral whereas the 2005 is more fruity. I think I prefer this, it's more addictive and satisfying to me.

alanav09

@edenbaggins - honestly neither. but between the two? probably miss dior cherie 2011. Mon Paris doesnt give me anything close to this, i dont really understand the votes. I get more dark blackberry than strawberry/popcorn. your best bet is the Montale, but if youre going for affordability, then Soap and Glory

Chippeta

This is such a beautiful perfume and was heartbroken to find it had been discontinued. I don't care how youthful it was, I'd still have it as my signature now.

The new, more mature, Miss Dior pales in comparison to Miss Dior Cherie and has an overwhelming patchouli note. Too much patchouli can destroy the balance of a perfume while just a hint can add depth. In this case, the note worked subtly, adding elegance and a little restraint to the other more playful notes.

The top and middle notes are just delightful - that popcorn accent is out-of-this-world!

I received this perfume in my youth and will never ever forget it.

Swedelish

The love for Miss Dior Cherie endures. It is a classic and for good reason. I love the 2012 almost equally. They are similar, but there are key differences in the balance and blend of the notes. A tip for anyone who owns MD 2012 and Burberry Her... Layer 2 sprays of Miss Dior 2012 over top 1 spray Burberry Her and I kid you not, the huge strawberry note in Her takes MD 2012 back to 2005 almost seamlessly. I have tested my Cherie 05 against this concoction several times. It's a close match ya'll, and just a good layering combo in general.

sinemm

I get caramel, strawberry and popcorn but they smell synthetic on me. Strawberry, popcorn and caramel are still dominant at the dry down but i can detect patchouli, amber and musk. A synthetic but lovely fragrance, i wish i had tried the 2005 version of it.

lyka

jellybeantree

I’ve ranted a million times from all the Dior reformulations over the years and this fragrance really didn’t need it. I actually stopped buying this series because they kept changing the formula to a completely new fragrance. This one is still the best and Dior should think about bringing it back in one form or another. Mon paris does have a similar fruity vibe to it but still not the same. Sad really ........

MyersAlice

I don't smell any popcorn, caramel, or cherry.
And I was mostly excited about those. So I guess I am a bit disappointed.
But, it's still a nice scent. Sweet and fresh, like a strawberry champagne.

metalshin23

As a hardcore Miss Dior fan, I wanted to add this badly to my collection. High and low, I was able to buy a 5ml decant. The salty popcorn and caramel note really intrigued me.

Upon initial spray, I was greeted by the infamous strawberry note, followed by pineapple. It was fruity, I thought. Very, very similar to Miss Dior EDP 2012.

Guess I have to wait for the middle notes to show up. Few hours had passed, and I still cannot smell the popcorn note that I'm looking for. I asked myself, why oh why, did I got a later formulation of MDC? Nope, I checked. The bottle was made in 2006. Those who were able to smell the popcorn are so lucky.

To my nose, this one smells 95% Miss Dior 2012 EDP minus the heavy patchouli. Although I can tell right away that MDC 2005 is sweeter than Miss Dior 2012 (perhaps the caramel?). If you have the 2013 Miss Dior EDT, maybe try combining it with the 2012 EDP, and you'll have the same scent as MDC 2005.

I'm still not done with my testing, I'm still hoping to catch that popcorn note.

EDIT 07/02/21: OMG after several months I can now finally detect that salty caramel popcorn!!! Now I understand why everyone loves this! How I wish I have a full bottle of it!

08/28/21: Finally a proud owner of a 50ml bottle!

ammason3

Bath and Body Works Into the Night is a cheap dupe! But doesn’t at all smell cheap. I wore this in the early 2000s and just loved it. I was happy to have found a dupe that lays just as long!

Brittgrl12

So if anyone is interested I love Only you Femme Alta is a great dupe. I would never say anything is exact but if you check the scent for this particular perfume it’s almost identical to every single note in the 2005 version of Miss Dior Cherie.

uno

mmmmm
something works wrong on me.It makes me sick.

LEM922

This fragrance came out when I was in high school, and I'm really just here to say, whoever at Dior thought reformulating this was a good idea, is completely delusional and should probably be fired. This fragrance was AMAZING, and I really wish they would bring it back. One of my favorites, but its near impossible to find now.

Lorela

This is my Autumn workplace signature. I love how delicatese is combined with confidence in this fragrance. When rain touches this fragrance, it becomes more magical. This perfume reminds me I don't need a partner to tell me I'm pretty. This perfume tells me that every Autumn Day at work. I'ts a pity that is discontinued...

FrkFors

Discontinuing this was a big mistake. Please, bring it back!

KittyDeBeauvoir

I fall into an odd little camp.

I was too young and not-quite-into-fragrance-obsession when this was discontinued, so I could never call myself one of the True Die-Hard MDC Lovers.
What I did do was order a small sample a few months ago, and it took me about two seconds to realise that the discontinuation of this fragrances is up there in one of the Worst Singular Moments in Perfume History.

On initial spray (and throughout its life), I get the *most* delicate, sweet, and delicious strawberry! This is a strawberry you find practically bursting with juice and warmed with glorious yellow sunshine. Pineapple also creates warmth with that juicy sweetness that somehow associates the nose with happy sunny weather.
The caramel supports it with a slight deeper, sweeter, salivating note. OR! That could be the popcorn making your mouth water. The popcorn note here I find is not what I feel is an absolutely distinctive "HOLY GOD, THAT'S POPCORN" scent, but provides a slightly salty/buttery blend to the scent.
Patchouli is there, but only slightly to me. It provides a tiny touch of earthiness, so it's not a cloying sugar-bomb.
As the notes suggest, the florals definitely take a backseat. Not a worry with that because - honestly - we don't especially need them here.

Girly, youthful, sweet, sophisticated, elegant, joyous, and...elusive. And not just because Dior discontinued this beauty.

There's a special place in Dante's "Inferno" Ninth Level of Hell (Treachery) for those responsible for the discontinuation of this.

Kitty rating: 9/10 (No full marks for this perfume's traitors).

Forbiddenjade

Ahh! This is heaven.

I meant to write this review many times, but then forgot. So here it goes today...

Miss Dior Cherie 2005 is simply one of the best fragrances ever made.
I am the happy owner (lucky, lucky me!) of a full 100ml of this marvelous, enticing, divine concoction and as someone pointed out previously, it opens with a wild, wet strawberry - the pineapple gives it that wet vibe, I believe, toning slightly the tarty babe here - AND popcorn. YUP! It is really a popcorn note there at the back.

The initial fuzz goes on about half an hour, and relaxes only to give space to a subtle, sleek but deep musk with a hint of caramel and mandarin orange. This is very distinct a note from the more common orange, it has depth and it is soapier, maintaining the character of her distant cousin (the orange). Patchouli is there, but overall not at all as prominently as the duo opening the dance.

And what a waltz!!! Not sure what anyone who voted the cherry as third prominent note smelled here: it is way at the back, if you can perceive it at all. Almost mute, hiding in the background, like the fussy violet they used to create this masterpiece. They are both there to back the other notes; they are an incredibly well balanced whisper. And I say this because cherry has a slightly sour soul, which here is not showing one bit.

To me, the protagonists are wild strawberry, pineapple and popcorn, backed in order by mandarin orange/musk combo, a tad of amber and jasmine/patchouli just a drop.

Miss Dior Cherie 2005 is a must for lovers of fruity musk, because that mandarin orange works wonders with it and the opening trio is just incredible with its backing. Perfect for mid-spring through early fall, day mainly but if you can afford to spray with abandon then evening too (and it would definitely give you an entrance anywhere!). NO age restriction here: from teen to more mature any woman can wear this fragrance and feel joyous, fresh, classy and mostly, pleased to be a woman. This fragrance is the epitome of joie de vivre.

11 out 10, because they do not make them like this anymore! But then, Dior is Dior and if there's any house that knows how to work a floral into a class number, it is this one in my humble opinion. Like no other ever did, or can (I may be biased, because Diorissimo and Pure Poison are my other two great loves).

PS: I sprayed it on today at 1pm and right now it is still there - 8 hours and though not in your face my husband could smell it, and so do I. Top sillage and longevity.
For information - the popcorn note was removed in subsequent reformulations of this fragrance. That is why the 2005 formula, aka the original one, is the most sought after.

Whify

I went through several bottles of this (the original 2005 version) back in the day and remember choosing it because, out of the dozens of scents I tested in Boots, it smelled the least perfumey. I definitely detected the sweet strawberry note but, for the life of me, I cannot remember any popcorn accord at all. Anyway, I wore this so often that I completely sickened myself of it and to this day I cannot tolerate anything with a hint of strawberry.

chinna

Patchouli notes and paper tests always make my mistakes ... and that's because Idon't have this beauty.

LucieFR

Loooved this fragrance but too many girls wore it so I didn't buy it. Wish I had now then hide it until then because they stopped it :( ! I don't understand why because it was a very good perfume.

I think I have my hands on this version... it's a tall rectangular bottle, silver lettering right on the glass, edp. The concentration excludes it from being a 2007 reformulation, and the silver lettering means it is prior to the 2012 version....

I'm not sure what I smell, really. By my nose it would be patchouli and strawberry. It calms after 20 minutes or so to include a bit more fruit, which I assume is the cherry.

It's grown up but not too grown up. Good for being taken seriously as a young adult.

It is sweet, I'll give it that. But a full on popcorn and caramel note? Not sure about that... Anyone in the Vancouver, BC area with a confirmed original formulation want to swap samples with me to test?

Edit: I later got my hands on another silver letter one, eau de toilette, batch code 9V03 (2009). Confirmed that I have the original 2005 version in my above review. 2009 batch is all patchouli and white floral.

kamikaze_devil

How could I find Fragrance similar like this as it was discontinued please advice

Thank you

Passionflower

This fragrance is very nice, it reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle, I don't know which one came first. I think it's a bit too sweet for me and it doesn't last very long on my skin. I'll stick with Coco Mademoiselle, but I will finish the sample vial I've got!

DebiL1211

Yummy. A beautiful fragrance that needs to be brought back to this formulation. At first spray it is salty caramel popcorn and as it dries down I get the cherry which is slightly sour along with the strawberry. It's not creamy or musky on my skin. It's very nice and after a little while I get hints of patchouli (not very strong but I am not a fan of patchouli so I think I recognize it more than those who don't mind it.) and floral notes.
I would definitely buy this formulation over the current formulation if they brought it back.

Great sillage and lasts around 6 hours with 4 sprays.

bourgeoismisspiggy

I think it's safe to say if you don't smell fresh, wild strawberry and popcorn (not jelly belly popcorn flavour, but dry, slightly buttery, caramel popcorn) in some capacity, you're probably not smelling the original 2005 EDP, even if you bought it from a trusted seller. Just a warning.
Anyone complaining about 'fragrantica listed notes' influencing noses to 'believe they smell something that is simply not there,' think again. The people claiming to smell strawberry and popcorn most CERTAINLY own or have sampled the true, original version. End of story.

Sherine777

That's a relief.. I have been banging myself for a couple of months trying to find that Caramel Popcorn note, but it just never happened..

Lucky noses who do get it :) but nevertheless, it is lovely as it is for me.

I indeed have a bottle of this which has been hanging out in my collection since 2008. It was one of my first designer perfumes. I have used maybe 1/5 of it. The bottle is chipped at the bottom, the little bow on the lid has most of its silver scratched off, there's even some nail polish on a part of it. It was a well travelled bottle of perfume! I had no idea what a stir this particular fragrance has caused with all of its reformulations until I recently did some research. I also had no idea what the notes were - to me all I smell is a sweet patchouli and I simply don't know how I could have worn the fragrance back then. I do not like it one bit today, but I think it was me that changed, not the perfume. I brought it out again to see if I could smell the strawberry or the popcorn, and I simply can't (and I don't remember it ever smelling that way to me). It goes to show how unique everyone's scent preferences are.

Mcushy24

Hi! If anyone has an authentic bottle of the original version of Miss Dior Chérie that they’re willing to sell, please message me! I’ve been dying to get my hands one of these bottles again and have had terrible luck.

Thanks in advance!

Kots_Tanya

Gorgeous fragrance that I got to try few year too late. After 2 fails trying to get it on Ebay and receiving rancid fragrances, I gave a Montale Rose Elixir a try and truly loved it, actually even more. Its like 90% similar and lasts so much longer.
Also Galimard Songeries is lke 95% similar up to performance which is not so great but its and amazing dupe. So if you like me and got on Miss Dior Cherie train way too late, there is some amazing dupes that are better and worth trying as much as I love the bottle of the Original Miss Dior Cherie and owning something rare and vintage is amazing feeling.

DropsOfHope

I absolutely loved this when it first came out!
It was one of my best friend's signature scents when we were teenagers. I had never met anyone like her before: she was almost irritatingly beautiful and unapologetically girly, convincing me, the awkward bookworm, to embrace my femininity. This perfume reminds me of her, and I remember watching her put on make up (the finishing touches were copious amounts of Lancôme's Juicy Tube lipgloss) and flirting with boys.
I wish I could find it so I could wear it and briefly feel very young, over-the-top and carefree again.

LMD

I have a 5ml mini splash that I got in a gift set from my MIL for Xmas back in the Noughties. On checking the batch code the date of manufacture was June 2007. At that point I wasn't particularly in to perfume and I also smoked. The others in the gift set were Dolce Vita edt, Pure Poison edp, J'Adore edp and Dior Addict 2 edt. I hated this one, I remember thinking it smelled really horrible and old lady ish. I have only drops left of the Dolce Vita, and the others are at least half empty but this one remained untouched. I decided to revisit it today, nearly 10 years after giving up smoking and I have to say it's not terrible like I thought. It's also not amazing either. All I can pick out is the strawberry note and undefined floral. I don't get any popcorn, caramel or woods. It's nice and fruity but not a patch on the poisons or dolce vita. It fades really quickly too for an edp. This might just be my skin though as I never choose splash formats for myself, they just don't last on me. I like a good spray. It's nice enough but it hasn't wowed me. Another reviewer mentioned Soap and Glory's the righteous butter smells the same and I have to say I agree.

dvlcis

Yes, I must say, I do miss Cherie. It had character, a playful character, cute and young. Cherries and popcorn, that s what I sensed the most. Sweet with pathchouli and amber, with good sillage and lasting power.

The remake is just another generic Coco Mademoiselle non-descript wannabe.

Amybeth312

Also, has anyone tried Fragrance Revival? I'm considering ordering a replica of MDC 2005.

Amybeth312

So I'm madly in love with the 2005 era Miss Dior Cherie and it drives me insane that it's discontinued. I'm trying to purchase an authentic bottle, super challenging. I've contacted Dior Parfums a number of times to inquire about batch codes before making decisions and not one batch code I've provided them has been deemed authentic. I'm truly beginning to wonder about them to be honest, I just purchased and received a bottle with a batch code 0Q01 and they said it's not authentic. Fortunately the seller is accepting a return but, if it's fake (I'm not convinced it is now that it's in my hands), it's a good fake. The bow is metal and has the bow loop. The CD is in both spots on the top. The details are on the back of the sticker on the front, etc. it's the new formulation however.

Does anyone happen to know if you have to tell Dior a batch code is from a tester bottle? I seem to come across lots of these. Does Dior really not use an "O" on a batch code? What about the bow for the bottles with the silver foil lettering? Are they like the ones from later? Where the bow includes an open loop if you look at it from the top? Or is the bow closed and flat?

lmwimsatt

Hey guys. Ok so I thought I was buying the shower gel of this but it smells a lot like blooming bouquet. I dont remember what miss dior cherie blooming bouquet smells like and I've never smelled miss dior cherie. I'm also aware that sometimes the name of the flanker is not written on perfumes, especially shower gels and lotions. So I have an off white bottle, same colored cap, of a shower gel that just says miss dior cherie but smells a lot like miss dior blooming bouquet. Can anyone help me out here? I would love your feedback! Thanks.

femmeasis

Everybody who loved it and misses it. Soap and Glory ORIGINAL PINK fragrance and THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER smell really really similar, if not the same.

iloveyouimissyou

I loved this scent when I was about 20 years old. I never could quite put my finger on the stand out part of this scent until someone said POPCORN! It's a bit heavy and a bit sweet but it is a fun femme fragrance. Not a particularly complex body and I think it lacks balance. However, when I smell a young woman wearing Cherie I smile ear to ear...

Monita86

I had a mini version long ago. Now it would be a bit to sweet for me (as I'm 33), but I still like it and could never throw the bottle away. :)

jenniferg0924

To say that i am so sad this is no longer made is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

This is probably the one of the most unique fragrances ever made.

To me it is best in the cooler weather. In the heat for some reason the sweetness gets very cloying and overwhelming.

This fragrance is so complex and well blended that the only thing that i really can detect is the caramel popcorn. At times i smell the strawberry a little and the pineapple and patchouli, but again it is so well blended that its hard to detect certain notes.

This one is by far the best Miss Dior that has every been made. I haven't smelled ALL of them, but this was so loved by so many women that its a shame Dior would discontinue it.

Scentsibility85

@Anjerinn- where did you find the oil version?

JordanRose

I can’t put this fragrance into words that would portray how beautiful it is. It’s like salted caramel coated popcorn that you are eating while watching a movie in a cozy jumper. There’s someone cutting fresh strawberries in the background and you can get a whiff of it every so often. This is stunning. A gem that shouldn’t have been discontinued, something I will be salty about until the day I die. I’m almost half way through my current bottle and unfortunately it’s not the easiest to find a genuine bottle these days (the price also makes me cringe).

I’m not usually one to look to copy fragrance websites but in a situation in which a favourite fragrance has been discontinued, I have made an exception. A small UK company (Perfume 24) has a fragrance “inspired” by Cherie and it smells identical to my nose. At less than £25 for 100ml I am planning to get 3 back ups. Thank God I will be able to continue to wear this amazing DNA for years to come.

Maryjuan

After several months, I finally found a great deal on ebay! And I must say that's worth it and I'm in love with this little gem!

tandem_4x4

Got my vintage bottle of Miss Dior Cherie EDP yesterday. I am disappointed as for me it smells like a Lush shop :-( Its not what I expected :-(. I do no feel any champagne, strawberries and popcorn. So sad...

PS: I was wearing it for few days and now getting addicted to it. Now I feel Miss Dior DNA, which is probably stronger than later flankers have. And yes, it is with strawberries and sugary note. It is slowly becoming my favorite perfume.

PPS: OK, not it is my official favorite and I bought a 3rd bottle of it to stock up. Also the second bottle smells less sweet and more champagne. Seems the fragrance changing smell due to the age or I've got them from different years.

mystica

So I only have a few drops left of this lovely vintage, which has proven its potential to last for long years without showing any sign of ageing. -In that I would not hesitate hunting for a vintage bottle as long as it's stored under normal -not even terribly specific- conditions.

Miss Dior Cherie has the best and loveliest sillage I've ever witnessed in a perfume. (Not that others aren't good, this one only has a unique beauty.) A simply wonderful scent will waft off you.

branda324

Every time I spray this on me, I understand more why this was discontinued. It smells too good to be legally worn in public :’)
The strawberry champagne and caramel popcorn compose a perfect melody to my nose. Its unbelievably delicious and hypnotizing. Shame on Dior for discontinuing this scent along with all the other original ones throughout the years

sensous_5877

Ohh, I remember this beauty....

I'm not sorry to say that I find the ones being sold today are crap - compared to this formulation.

There are quite a few fragrances (not only Dior's miss dior/cherie line) which had been replaced/reformulated for the worse. It hurts.

Zosiasbear

I am staring at my last bottle with the last bit of perfume left in it. To me that bottle was youth, it was a trip to Rome with girlfriends, a handsome Italian man in springtime at the Forum. It is a burst of warm spring that makes the drizzling rainfall palatable. I wish I could find the original scent somewhere because it is poetry to my nose.

bowe

Ahhhh, patience has finally paid off! After years of daily emails from that blasted new listings subscription, I scored a full unused bottle (with box!! albeit a little battered) at a local online auction for like, USD70 converted. A week of fretting it might be fake later, this lady now owns a genuine bottle of this stupid(ly good) fragrance she wasted so much time scouring the net over.

If you can't tell, I am simultaneously over the moon and appalled at myself.

As for the fragrance, it smells amazing. At first, it's a fruit salad bowl drizzled in caramel and it smells like sunshine and happiness but HEAVY, not the light springtime one you'd get from, say, Blooming Bouquet. It would smell overbearing on me, to be honest, if it weren't for the patchouli. My skin reacts weirdly to patchouli - if there's any hint of it in a perfume, you can bet your last dollar my skin's gonna project that shite like skunk spray. Fortunately, I quite like patchouli (not so fortunate for the fam, who all HATE it with an undying fervour haha).

So the earthiness of patchouli perfectly balances it. It's still ridiculously sweet but it works. The popcorn probably helps, but my uncultured nose can't detect it at all. There are faint hints of something buttery from time to time (or perhaps it's placebo), but that's about it. I did spray it on someone else and was subsequently quite revolted at the odd savoury note her skin brought out.

Sillage and longevity depended on where it was sprayed. On my wrists and inner elbows, top notes were quicker to fade, drydown was pretty much just a sweetened patchouli, and it became a skin scent in a few hours. On neck and chest, it lasted much longer (5+ hours) and drydown was more of a blend of every note (but the caramel was definitely stronger). Also tried two sprays on tissue. I left it on my desk and every time I entered the room, I'd get a blast of it. Sitting at the desk, I'd get whiffs of it throughout the day (sweet heaven...).

Anyways, it's a safe blind buy in that if you somehow don't like it, there's always someone you can pass it on to.

chicagogirl

I realllyyy hope Dior will re-release Miss Dior Cherie for its 15th anniversary next year. Maybe some Dior employees or executives are reading this and getting this idea in their heads... Hey? A girl can dream, right? lol

louiee

I totally get the hype about this one !
I got very lucky and got my hands on a 2005 edition today for a reasonable price.
So fruity, fun, young, innocent and flirty at the same time.
I detect much more pineapple, cherry, patchouli, strawberry and caramel than popcorn... The popcorn note is for me a lot stronger in Paco Rabanne pure xs than in this one. The dry down in Cherie wins... by far.
What a perfectly and feminine drydown. Total love
Longevity and silage is about average on me.

JetsBabe

This smells exactly like the other miss Dior Cherie, and I own both but eventually came to the conclusion that this version doesn't last as long as the newer version.

Tried both over and over to test my theory, and yep-- new miss Dior lasts ALL day...and this version lasts about 6 hours on me

Mona Lygre

And me: I had the bottle with the pink airy ballon, I loved it so very much, I missed it so very much, just as my dog, a male golden retriever who died so suddenly a year ago, Im still in pieces of the loss of him...

I thought I just could go to the shops and buy a new bottle of my Cherie - and it was gone - as well -

but than, a month ago I discover that I had pulled over about 8ml on a dispenser I had forgotten all about -

- Cherie you are my holy grale -

I will love ju forever as much and high as my two beloved late golden retrievers

chicagogirl

I still randomly remember this perfume and mourn its loss, lol. I even had the original silver foil packaging one but sold it on Ebay stupidly! It was such a unique, unforgettable beauty. I truly don't understand what Dior is doing because they'd make so much money if they brought this original caramel popcorny one back. The boring, stale patchouly citrus flowers Miss Dior iterations are getting boring.

EDIT: I just realized I have the 2005 fragrance!! I have a bottle with the sticker so I just assumed I had the blah reformulation but apparently the sticker ones without the indentation are the original 2005 stuff. I just checked its batch code and it's from 2010! I guess I need to treasure it forever, lol. Thanks papagena and nena for that info!

BTW Soap & Glory original pink body butter is a dead ringer for this one. I've smelled many MDC dupes but that one is the closest. I think S&G have a perfume too but the body butter is satisfying enough for me.

missKK82

A lot have been said about Miss Cherei and we all know it has left us fans so sad with its discontinuation. This reveiew is my tribute to Miss Cherie. This is/was the BEST perfume I have ever come across in my life. I bought it somewhere around 2011 I think and used the whole bottle religiuosly that winter. I still remember the way I could smell it all day on my wrists. And the caramel oh the caramel was so comforting in those winter days. It was just a masterful mix of florals caramel and what not to create something so sweet yet inoffensive and sophisticated. Well I finished that bottle and went to my local Macys to rebuy never to be found again.

I want Miss Cherie back in my life. Please Dior we want it back !!

dglightblue

Those of you enjoying the popcorn note, there is a new Paco Rabanne out with a snake around the neck of the bottle, that one has a prominent popcorn note
X

Papagena

@branda324 From 2005 - 2008 the bottle had Miss Dior Cherie written in silver foil letters. From 2008 the silver foil was replaced by a sticker. (No indentation around the sticker as it is on the 2011 bottle containing the reformulation). The perfume itself remained unchanged so your bottle from 2009 contains the 2005 version of MDC EdP.

saramariah

So sad that this perfume was discontinued. It doesnt make sence. Hardly seen a bad review about it. One of the most beautiful fragrances ive ever smelled. I miss it :(

On the positive Chanel Coco Madmoiselle smells very similar imo so though i love Dior i’ve switched to Chanel

Angelpen

Many women are mourning the discontinuation of the popcorn version. Eden perfumes Brighton (out of the UK) makes a vegan version of the original that smells absolutely beautiful!

ariej2010

I bought it back in 2005, Loved it in the bottle but not on me, this one gaves me the worst migraine ever but its final notes are ok, Guess it is the mixture of pineapple, popcorn and strawberries... tried absolutely blooming and fell in love!!!!

katrienlejeune

I would give my left pinky toe for this version to come back on the market. It was the very first perfume I ever bought, and I can't get over my good taste back then :-D the perfect mix of fruity and sweet, without either of the two tones being overpowering. It was young, elegant, fresh and a little flirty. I miss this scent!

I went through my collection and am lucky enough to have gathered some tiny collector's edition bottles from the airport, I will treasure those. They are a joy to look at almost just as much as they are to smell.

cottoncandyanddaydreams

One of my favourite scents — Miss Dior Cherie, 2005 version.

Top Notes: Green Mandarin
Middle Notes: Caramel Popcorn and Wild Strawberry Sorbet
Base Notes: Fresh Patchoulli and Crystalline Musks

This is a well crafted masterpiece. Everything about this is perfect. From the girly, classy and gorgeous bottle with the well crafted silver bow to the delicate shiny cursive etching.

She is beautiful and charming and mischievous, as it opens with a whimsical daydream of strawberries and cherries, the juicy aroma of citrus and pineapples, radiating sweetness and a bubbly character. As if the taste of sweetness isn’t enough, you immediately get to the best part, the rich gourmand blend of buttery caramel popcorn delight. Oh so divine, this is where you’ll crave for this mouthwatering goodness. Splendidly breathtaking. Absolutely lovely.
As it continues to linger your neurons are firing impulses to your limbic system triggering emotions and memories reaching to an olfactory overdrive. At this point you’ve already reached your orgasm with your eyes rolling upward in true orgasmic bliss.
The patchoulli and musk is the perfect note to catch your breath on the dry down, bringing you back to Earth from the Heavens as you emit that after bliss glow. It’s addictive and you’ll surely crave for more.

It has the perfect blend of being fun, girly and innocent yet flirty and sexy. But still being overall sophisticated and classy as each notes are complex with the added depth. Beautifully blended as it lingers on. Magic and love in a bottle.

Soofiya

As mentioned before I found an unsealed 1.7oz bottle of miss dior Cherie produced in November,2005,for a bargain and immediately bought it.back then I found it pretty, still I was disappointed maybe because I was looking for a very dominant caramel and popcorn but I couldn't detect them At all;or maybe because so many raving reviews grew up my expectations to a level that I was waiting for something beyond any other perfume.back then I preferred miss dior absolutely blooming a ten times to this one
Now I still love MDAB but I also love miss dior cherie.now I can understand all positive reviews.yes it's not a foody gourmand.still it's deliciously sweet with a touch of fruitytartness that I find it month-watering.strawberry is the first dominant note my skin and I'm happy to have a strawberry perfume that doesn't spray like cheap child strawberry body mists;on the contrary it's classy, feminine and smells expensive.second strong note is cherry for me and I'm excited to see it without being followed by almond or licorice(though I like that type too).now I can also feel caramel's syrupy sweetness,a hint of something unique which I interpret it as popcorn,a subtle,non-disturbing patchouli and delicate clean florals, which reads to me as a light musky-rose-Jasmine
I'm glad to see it's delicious notes never completely faind away.I can smell syrupy sweet strawberry strongly for hours while patchouli and that light touch of clean floral powder are mingling through, balancing it and adding it whatever makes this girly, youthful, happy, delightful, playful and lively scent, also a classy, feminine, romantic, smart perfume that it is.longevity and sillage are real good and it's a truely lovely fragrance
Trying to understand who is in charge in Dior for reformulating and discontinuing a lot of it's amazing and popular juices(miss dior cherie, midnight poison, hypnotic poison sensuel, tender poison,Dior addict, homme intense and recently less amazing miss dior edp)is an impossible effort for me.
If you're looking for a somehow similar perfume I also suggest trying Yves saint Laurent Mon Paris.don't expect an exact dupe for miss dior cherie because it's not.but there are some obvious similarities.mon Paris is more floral and fresh IMO and lacks some gourmand facets of MDC.but they share sweet fruity, strawberry opening.subtle patchouli and clean florals

bronni666

i cautiously unwrap cherie from its confinement and sniff the spray nozzle and its not positive. so i gotta test it out being a blind buy i should know better..
upon first spray i start sneezing continuously, violently about a dozen or so times to the point where i started to feel nauseous so it had to come off but of course they never come fully off.
anyway, miss dior cherie is a very common, (cloying to me) scent. dozens of women wear this everyday and float past and now i recognise their forever faithfuls. smells somewhat like an old ladies fragrance.
its a big no for me. not a safe blind buy.

rockstarrshade

If you really WANT THIS ONE its hard to get so i have a best advice for you. I already bought alternative version to this fragrance by J Fenzi - Miss Jill Fenzi. Its the same scent with same notes. It smells with popcorn and strawberry i love it. You can buy it actually on ebay and price is really funny about 15 USD. Justr try it and you will see. highly recommend i have lot of alternatives from J Fenzi and they are very good at copying fragrances its not just a alcohol water but it lasts long and smells exactly the same. Try it and then let me know if it i was right :)

dsty

This version of Miss Dior Cherie must be one of the most grieved discontinuations here on Fragrantica, and now that I've finally tested it for myself, I have to say I believe the hype! Luckily, I personally don't love it quite so much that I can't live without it and have to start hunting for a bottle, but I can easily understand why someone would; it's a very good candidate for a signature.

For one thing, it's pretty light and inoffensive, the kind of perfume that will fit any mood and time of year without ever becoming either overwhelming or boring.
For another, it really smells gorgeous. The strawberry note that dominates the opening is to die for, and that's a hard one to get right. Later on it's joined by the popcorn and caramel, and that combination is delicious as well. And although it doesn't sound especially sophisticated, there's nothing juvenile about it either. It's just really well done, very balanced. Lasts all day, too, although I do need four or five sprays instead of my usual two or three for this to fully come into its own.

So like many others before me, I have to wonder why this was ever discontinued. If it wasn't, I'm sure there'd be a full bottle of it somewhere in my future. As it is, I'll treasure what's left of my decant before saying goodbye to this little gem of a scent.

imacityknight2

Now that I’ve successfully acquired my 3 bottles I can comfortably make this review without fear of a reader becoming so curious and persuaded that they went and bought all the bottles I had my eye on from eBay LMAO. Call it what you want but this discontinued-perfume-hunt-game is real lmao. Bc once it’s gone, it’s GONE! Now all that remains on eBay are $200 listings and I’ll be damned! Lol.

Anywho, lol, this is my number 1, my holy grail, 90 years old in the nursing home and all I want is this, my FAVORITE PERFUME OF LIFE! Where do I start with this? It’s such a perfect scent for me. It’s strong, but pleasantly strong. I mostly smell strawberry and pineapple at the top, and then popcornnnn, and caramellllll! It’s so intoxicating! I can’t stop sniffing and smelling it. The sillage and longevity are really good. My 22 year old niece kept smelling me and wouldn’t stop lol. She detected the popcorn but couldn’t name it. Then finally she came running back to me yelling, “I SMELL THE POPCORN!” Lol. This scent is also very elegant. I just...can’t put into words how marvelous and magical this perfume is! MDC (2005) is the bees knees. I pray I never run out! BUT if I do, luckily I have a bottle of Elode Bliss which smells ALMOST identical but MDC is more of a smoother smell and not as tart.

This perfume is:

1,000,000/1,000,000 (Yes that’s one million out of one million lmao)

BOMB

AMAZING

INTOXICATING

ADDICTING

AROUSING

and a damn aphrodisiac for me.

I’ll stop now before I write an essay. But this is amazing. I’m not gonna lie...o actually WOULD pay $200 for this. It’s worth it.

Oh, P. S.

I don’t get any references to this. Not the COCO Mademoiselle, not anything. This thing here stands ALONE, in a lane all by herself. The Alpha Omega. The Queen Supreme. Any comparisons at this point are just merely, cute.

mychinarose

I now have my 2005 bottle of Miss Dior Cherie and am wearing it today. I am torn. It does smell as described...but there's something missing. I think I actually like my mixture of Coco with Poison Girl better. MDC smells like buttery popcorn, but my Coco/PG alchemy smells like caramel popcorn. Much better. There's also that dang Coco Mademoiselle thing to contend with. I used to LOVE to smell CM on others, but by the time I dropped coin on a bottle I couldn't stand it on myself. This MDC 2005 reminds me of CM, which shouldn't be a bad thing since I did love it once, but there was just something in CM that was added that was too, too much. Another frag that smells super similar to both of these is Camelia by L'Erbolario. I actually smelled it on someone else and begged her to tell me what it was and I ordered a bottle straight away. But there went that Coco Mademoiselle smell again once I put it on. Seriously, what is wrong with me? Why do I love/hate so much??? I think I am going to add Poison Girl on top of the MDC to see if it turns more caramel on me. Maybe that will solve it??? To be continued...

EDIT: I have two bottles of this now, one EDP from 2005 (batch code 5801) and another from April 2009 (batch code 9R02). At first when I got the second one I thought I might be getting a 2011 version based on the packaging, but it smells exactly like the 2005. So be aware that the bottle/label/box of MDC changed to the more modern version before the juice inside did!

Eau de Nikita

Just absolutely beautiful hands down I would say probably one of the best women's fragrances. Miss Cherie is a Chicago downtown girl who whisps past you smelling like soft raspberries, makeup compacts and lipsticks. I can't explain I just remember this filling the air downtown Chicago in 2005. Regular Miss Dior just doesn't do it for me I gotta have my Cherie. The only perfume I came across that has similar vibes is YSL Mon Paris but not the same but same vibe

PinkRainbow

Miss Dior Cherie is extremely lovely and unusual. The popcorn note is definitely there, lending a salty/buttery tone to the bubbly/sweet backdrop. Cherries and strawberries float in the mix giving it a sweet home-grown vibe. Visions of an old-fashioned ice cream parlor with swivel stools. Comforting and nostalgic. The essence of summer ending, drive-ins closing, and warm days turning into autumn.

Martaynd

COMBO TIP: Calvin Klein's Euphoria all over and a spritz of Miss Cherie at neck and arms.

j'adoremissdior

I FINALLY TESTED IT! I'm wearing it now actually, and it's (by no surprise) amazing.

Wonderfully crafted and just the right balance of sweetness and sophistication.
The popcorn and strawberry are such unique and playful notes. The caramel is there ,but it's not really edible...no doubt a bit gourmand-ish, but definitely a chypre. A well blended perfume with notes that dance together in harmony. The patchouli is earthy and smooth. The rose is delicate. (I don't smell cherry or pineapple, it's more floral than fruity to my nose.) The mandarin is fresh.

This is truly the Miss Dior- stunningly sophisticated and seductively sweet.

It smells a bit like the 2011 version, (my first perfume love) but more youthful and sweet. It's a classic of our time. God only knows why they reformulated it a million times.
Dang it, Dior, BRING THIS BACK.

socorrosouza

On miss Dior Cherie I only feel a salty popcorn smell that lasts for 8 hours or more with heavy sillage and that is so offputting that I can't even see salty popcorn now. No caramel, no patch only salty popcorn for a long time, no matter which version I try. This is evidence there should be no blind buys, on paper I should love Miss Dior Cherie.

My relationship with Miss Dior Cherie has been so bizarre. But I guess it's only telling there is no other like it!
This was a successful blind buy though I was disappointed at first; back then it smelled like Miss Dior (2012) to me, got disappointed and set it aside.
Later I gave it another try- and fell in love. I got the impression of gourmand but chic perfume many have already described so aptly here.
However at some point, after wearing it a lot, I started to detect a strange nuance in between all the beauty. Beer! It was really off-putting and disgusting; I started to think it has gone bad (due to age) and stopped wearing it again.
I was utterly disappointed with it. I tried to sell it and swap it several times, but it sat stubbornly on my shelve- like saying I'm here to stay, I'm not going anywhere.
I don't know what the strange beer smell was but as time went on, I gave it another chance ( I stopped counting how many chances I gave to it..) and it was this autumn. The beauty was back in it's glory; maybe it was due to temperature, season, I don't know.
After these years I appreciate Miss Dior Cherie for being very unique, lovely and versatile scent; it's youthful but it has the classy, grown-up side and this altogether makes it ageless. I love the mix of gourmand and classic lady-like perfume notes!

hellooo, this fragance is heaven, i have a bottle of on sell if you are interested!

ShiraJemJem

I describe this one as 'Strawberry caramel popcorn' with the slightly vibe of Miss Dior original from 1947.

I can smell strong juicy strawberry mix with popcorn at first then it dries down to sweet caramel with some floral. Really good blend.

It also has great longevity and sillage. It makes me feel so good all day just by smelling myself.

Stardew77

I recently obtained a mini .17 ounce blind bought online. I wasn't prepared for this masterpiece of a scent. I had this scent on my want list for a long time, for about 6 years.

It opens up with sweet and tart because of the strawberry and fruit. It dries down to a sharp, sophisticated, classy scent. I will definitely need to find a larger bottle of this beauty. This is one of the best scents I have came across in a long time.

Warm, inviting, intoxicating, addicting.

Good job Dior 10/10

How to recreate this scent: layer Shay & Blue Salt Caramel with YSl Mon Paris ❤

Mrs.Allard

Such a beautiful perfume that I swear I have smelled before. Anyway it took me forever to buy a bottle of this and now that I have it I rarely ever wear it, I guess I don't want to waste it! It has the same vibe as The 2012 Miss Dior but the notes make it a different experience. The patchouli keeps it interesting and mature and the strawberry keeps it fresh and young. I hate to say this but this fragrance has an expensive feel to it.
I typically don't like saying that because it is such a vague word to use for fragrances but I am at a loss of word on how to describe it...

frigjordhet

Oh how I miss you miss dior cherie! I'm a 26 year old female and this takes me back to my late teens. I'm sticking to the 2012 miss dior now (the reformulation), but I really do miss this sweeter fragrance. I'm hoping the 2017 reformulation (coming out in September 2017) will be a little closer to cherie. I've recently purchased chanel madamoiselle which I use interchangeably for a little bit of sweetness.

LittleParfumista

My all time classic. Been using it for years, repurchasing every time it finishes.

Beautiful, soft, tender and just so feminine. For me ultimate womanity and sexuality, in a gentle and beautiful way, not loud or aggressive.

Sweet and soft, warm and inviting. I have no right words to describe this beauty.

Coconut_Smores

This perfume caused me the most wonderful, sharp burst of memory and emotion. The minute the scent hit my nose I recalled, vaguely, a dear friend I once had. I realized that she must have worn this scent, and I never knew til this moment. It was like a secret had been unlocked.

With that delightful opening aside, the cherry / violet combo began to cause a cloying cloud around me-- to me, it smelled "cold." And perhaps a tad medicinal. Miss Cherie is put-together, feminine, even playful, but she is not inviting, warm, or sensual. She is Blair Waldorf, not Serena Van der Woodsen.

Thankfully, the drydown became more fresh and citrusy, with less of that patchouli blast of the beginning.

I haven't decided if I truly love it or if I am simply fascinated by it, but there's no doubt this perfume is extremely special.

Decadence85

Firstly, I will agree with the reviewer below who compared this with Mon Paris because it reminded me of Miss Dior Cherie so much that I just acquired a new bottle on eBay, so looking forward to wearing it again after all these years. Give Mon Paris by YSL a try if you can't get a hold of MDC, or else La Perla Ruby Perlage if it is still available somewhere.

ejvelez

I recently got a sample of YSL Mon Paris and was pleased with the scent because it comes very close to Dior's Cherie. I have been looking high and low for a dupe and this has come closest. Anyone else think they are similar?

mariamarouli91

Very youthful, happy, fruity and innofensive scent. To my nose, it's more of a fruity scent than floral. It's a bit sweet because of the caramel but more fruity. I feel the strawberry, cherry and pineapple. I can't detect the patchouli and popcorn. Very nice and unique scent for daytime and work all year round especially for spring time.Just a pity that it has been discontinued. Dior, we want it back!

dcapano

I just bought a bottle of this and I cant smell much of a difference from the current Miss Dior. I know it is original so maybe the perfume has changed after so many years?

bibibling

WHY is this discontinued? It's absolutely ridiculous to me that something so beloved by so many people would be swapped out for a less nuanced and less loved version. Was there an ingredient that is now banned or something?

Anyway, I now have the task of having to track this down online and making sure I'm not looking at a picture of Miss Dior Cherie 2005 but purchasing Miss Dior EDP 2017. It's so frustrating.

If you do manage to get your hands on it (I got a sample vial through theperfumedcourt.com) it's a very pretty, pale pink girly scent, BUT it's sophisticated and clever at the same time. No blushing innocent naivete here. This little princess knows exactly what she's doing!

My main verbal impression of this would be 'strawberry soap' (but not in a bad way, unless you hate strawberry soap) and the element of caramel popcorn patchouli is there in a slightly gourmand but moreso decorative way, by which I mean it plays back-up to the fruity-floral-soapy elements. The cherry is present but the strawberry, enhanced possibly by pineapple, feels like the main fruit to me.

All in all this is a scent you can imagine through description maybe 75-80% of the way, but there are some indescribable elements to it that you just have to experience for yourself because I can't find words for it and I haven't seen anyone below mine really be able to verbalize it either. I'm not saying it's "OMG as hard to describe as ambergris or oud" but there IS a piece of it that's hard to put across because there's no other perfume to compare it to.

It's Miss Dior and Absolute/Blooming Bouquet's sassy older sister who kissed all the cute boys and went to all the cool parties and had all the fun in the world all before turning 16 and her younger sisters are older than her now but still trying to catch up. It has that 'this smells expensive' feeling as well as a deliberately, calculatingly, cunningly sweetness to it, like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

But try a sample first if you worry the soapiness may be an issue, or the strawberry might be too literal for you. Like I said, it was my first impression and it didn't fade much so you don't want to plunk your money down on something so in demand when it turns out you hate it and someone else could have bought it.

Soofiya

After owning and loving miss dior absolutely blooming I became interested in only member of miss dior family that I could love:miss dior cherie 2005.
I tried miss dior cherie 2007,2011 also miss dior edp and they never became more than a simple like but I had higher hopes for this one with notes such as strawberry, cherry, caramel and popcorn so when I found it for an unbelievably affordable price for a discontinued dior I didn't hesitate
My first impression was strawberry+a hint of more sweetness+new miss dior edp=miss dior cherie 2005.but I know I never can rely on my first impressions.
I like this one more than miss dior edp but absolutely blooming still remains my favorite one.this one isn't as sweet as absolutely blooming and doesn't have that adorable elegant powdery undertone yet it has other charms
It's delicately sweet and enough fruity to make it youthful, lively and girly but there's nothing childish here. It's still a classy, ladylike scent thanks to it's dior quality. Unfortunately I don't detect any caramel here which I was eagerly looking forward to.I also can't detect much of popcorn note.but there's a healthy dose of strawberry and cherry here blended with miss dior's patchouli.I find patchouli in both of them to be well mannered and tamed.nothing dirty or hippie-ish here and it's not sharp by any means.not as patchouli and fruits tend to be usually.it has a creamy vibe.it stays like this nice well done and well blended fruitchouli for more than half an hour after that it becomes more floral and more beautiful.I can't pickup specific floral notes yet(except guessing rose)but I can feel a Musky floral beauty wafting through strawberry/cherrychouli
Actually I expected it to be a real gourmand.sweeter.caramelly.so I'm a little dissapointed but on the other hand I like how it smells on me and I think it can be very versatile and easy to wear.so all in all I'm happy to own it and I'm pretty sure that I can grow to like it more, maybe even love it
Gonna edit this after couple of wearings
❤❤❤❤

phunkyvida

I had this in 2007, my first year at college. My boyfriend at the time bought it for me along with the lotion in a gift set for my birthday.

Nice top note of wild strawberry with a pitch of cream which transforms into rosé champagne-y florals.

xoxcrista

I freaking miss this version too, the BEST Cherie by far. The buttery popcorn and that strawberry.... just wow. A rarity.

ElleNell

Please please bring back the 2005 version of miss Dior Cherie it was just perfect and I have so many good memories of it. It was so rich, sophisticated, classy, elegant, girly, feminine and had an unique charm. Nothing will ever compare. I was so in love with it!!!

carongenevieve

This was my signature scent from 2005 to 2011, from age 22 to 28 so, basically, this is what my 20s smelled like. after wearing Romance as a teenager, I think I wanted something a little more fun and wild. There is something very mischievous, silly and feminine here. This perfume is a flirt. It is Amy March. Now I would never even think of wearing something so feminine although I believe there is a very strong statement hiding behind the sweet notes: the fakeness of the strawberry scent is, to me, a statement in itself; it's the wolf in sheep's clothing; it's playing games. Acting sweet and innocent while hiding the brains of that wildchild.

mystica

2005:

Back in early 2006 I simply could not wait to get this. I was so impressed by a review I had read on a magazine (Fragrantica didn't exist back then) I thought it should be a must try, so I got a full bottle for myself without giving it much thought.

The sweet, girly, gourmand hype was rather something new then as it went for designers. Strawberry, popcorn?, oh that's the dream of every girl! Upon application, it proved nothing like I expected though... I found it way too complicated (like a mesh of many sweet things) and thanks to the patchouli note, dirty. It gave me a headache, so I couldn't use it and gave it to my mum. She didn't have much success with it either, and years later, I rediscovered it one of her drawers. I am glad for that day...

Despite it's never been my signature or anything, I adore the sillage of Miss Dior Cherie. I am talking about the scent not you directly smell off your skin, but the very trail you catch you leave behind. Delicious and clean, I don't know of another sweet scent which leaves such a wonderful aura behind. I wish it hadn't smelled rather cloying in close distance.

I guess this would be ideal for a mist application. I don't have it in that large quantities though. And the quality of the juice... Zero change despite 10 years from the purchase. Says a lot about the history of perfumery and where we are now...

*Generally migraine safe, but caution is recommended.

socorrosouza

On me this is an average meh scent, the popcorn is salty and the most prominent note, annoying, and the rest is sub par for a Dior house, the caramel/cherry is mediocre on my skin . of course it is on my skin and people do seem to love it and I tried all the yearly versions, but none agreed with me. The salty popcorn is especially irritating, but the caramel and cherry notes , which I generally love, seem very uninspired on me.

fyre92

One of the main reasons i avoid blind buying based off reviews. This is nothing special........ It smells like every other fruity patch with gourmand notes. Yes the popcorn note is there but its not the center of the scent. Meh....

bgraves10

this smells like hermione granger

PrissyCurls

Gorgeous fragrance!!!

I had this back when it was first launched back in 2005 and finally found a bottle on ebay from a reliable seller.

All I can say is why did Dior discontinue this lovely composition of a fragrance? Caramel, popcorn and patchouli(done right) with floral and citrus notes are to die fo!! It's sweet but not overly sweet can be worn all year long but imo it's best worn during spring/fall/winter as the hot/humid weather would cause the juice to disappear into thin air. I love it and will purchase another bottle when I run out. Glad to have this back in my collection.

Intoner

Should never have challenged the feminine power of this perfume. XD

The thing that draw me to this one is "Popocorn" (Look it up. this web really told me that.) lol and yeah, I can smell the buttery popcorn. Yum!
But, strawberry and cherry made it extra girly so... to my mom you go.
It's clean, yet, can be buttery juicy gourmand at the same time.
It's every women's friendly perfume! (Burn this one if you are gothic) lol

peace_flower

Like a bright smile on a sunny day! This is a cute smelling perfume for a woman of any age - someone who is fun, sophisticated, worldly, and retains an innocence and sweetness through it all. I love love love most Dior frags - have not run into one yet I am not fond of, but this one is a definite must-add to my collection :)

Aerides

I came across an empty of this that still had about 5ml left for 4 euros in a car boot sale and I was just hooked on it. To my dismay I learned that the formula had changed and while the new one still had the lovely jasmine, musk, and patchouli notes it just wasn't the same. The main difference being the caramel gourmand notes at the heart of the fragrance and the fruity cherry/strawberry top notes that makes the discontinued formula lighter brighter and younger than its current incarnation. Usually fragrances with patchouli are really strong on my skin and overpower everything to the point where I smell like a Jimi Hendrix groupie from the 60s. But this one gets the balance right with the jasmine, caramel and cherry.
At long last I managed to get a 100ml of the EDP as a somewhat extravagant birthday gift to myself. Because hey, it's probably only going to get harder to find.

thenewdior29

I would looove to own a bottle of this. If someone has one, feel free to message me! :)

redskyatnight

Caramel-apple-patchouli love! This is a nice strong scent with a sophisticated but blissful vibe. I'm not a big fan of big-fashion-house fragrances, but this just may have pulled me in a little bit. From the reviews here I'd like to try out some of the other Dior and Chanel flankers. This took some time for me, but now I LOVE it!

TessiiDob

I absolutely loved my first bottle of this, and was not happy when I opened my eagerly awaited second bottle, only to find that Dior had changed the formula. Apparently there were people out there who confused the Miss Dior with the Miss Dior Cherie & the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet (um, how, I’d like to know, as the names, not to mention the colour of the perfumes, are all different?). So instead of telling the numpties out there to suck it up, pay attention and write down the name of whichever bottle they were smelling, they changed the name to Miss Dior and now have the parfum and the toilette (or so I was told by the lady at the Christian Dior counter at Myers). Whatever the reason, the new formula doesn’t smell anywhere near as lovely as the original Miss Dior Cherie did – it had a beautiful caramel note, which is gone now. I don’t get that lovely, fresh strawberry anymore, or the yummy popcorn. I still like it, but not nearly as much as I liked the original version - it was just gorgeous. Shame on Dior for messing with such a beautiful fragrance – it was perfect as it was.

kerrie.o'neill

The first proper perfume I've owned, gifted to me! Probably got it at least 6 years ago (could it be 10 :O) and still smells as good.

Cannelline

I can't understand why Dior stopped this and that they haven't done a relaunch, considering what an immense success it was! It really was much more unique than the current Miss Dior.

nvenus

Does anyone have this for swap?

bottlefairy

One of my best friends wears this fairly often and it is sweet and unassuming, much like her. I almost never smell the patchouli when she wears it, which is great because I cannot stand patchouli smell.

blake.lee

Bliss by Elode is a very close dupe!

Tussa

Very elegant, femmine and classic and I would say adult scent. I was attracted by "Cherry" in the name, but I could feel it only shortly. I would describe it more as a musky, rather than fruity scent. I do like it, it is quite safe buy, but there is some note that, unfortunately, makes it a bit "old-fashioned" for me. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is another story, really love that one and happy that CD keep selling Blooming Bouquet rather than Cherry.

Southern Blonde

Super girly feminine sweet delicious fruity scent. It's very fruity and refreshing. It opens with some citrus mandarin orange and pineapple. Then I can smell a big strawberry and cherry scent. There's a violet and rose. The popcorn note is just not there. Easy to wear very sweet and perfect for spring and summer. The caramel becomes detectable in the dry down, like caramelized amber. An amber dry down, which I love. This is just such a nice very sweet perfume.

Sherri81

I have the original 2005 version; I have no idea what the reformulation smells like.

This was a Mother's Day gift for me back in 2005. I remember the sales associate spraying it on me, guaranteeing I would like it. She was right, I loved it. I wore it exclusively for almost a year, and then, as things go, I got bored of it. I put it aside in favour of my new favourites.

I just decided to try this again. Wow, this is strong! I don't remember it ever lasting this long before. I do not get any sweetness at all. What I smell is rose, violets, patchouli, and powder. It is a very heavy scent; not gross heavy, but not fresh either.

I have about 30% of my 2005 bottle left. I will use it up, but I wouldn't repurchase it.

Madrona

Caramellized popcorn and wild strawberries.

Love.

angiec777

If you really loved this perfume, like I did and still do, then try John Varvatos for women. It's as close as I've been able to find. The major difference is that while MDC is primarily fruity JV is floral. It's a bit softer and less jammy and, in my opinion, more grown up but you still get that sweetness with the patchouli dry down. The strawberry in MDC is replaced by jasmine in JV (I think) and to me it's a good trade-off. In fact, the basic notes are almost the same except that instead of caramel and cherry you get honey and white flowers.

Stenklover

Loved this perfume, was wondering why the stuff in stores smells different, now I know. Just make a new perfume, stop facking reformulating old favorites.
