sadly i don’t get any vanilla on my skin all i smell is dusty old library books and spices. i’m definitely selling this or returning.

cecekim

I LOVE this scent!! I went into a Diptyque store while traveling in Amsterdam, got a small sample, and wore it during the last few days...so it will always hold a special place in my heart. But the scent itself is just beautiful: it's not your typical gourmand vanilla — it has a slightly spicy kick to it that gives it depth and sophistication — it's airy but not fleeting, lasting a pretty long time on me. I can imagine a stylish woman in a coat and sunglasses wearing this while walking to her job in a busy city, just doing ✨ boss girl shit. ✨

bells.2004

i don’t know if this just doesn’t match well with my skin chemistry, but this smells like ketchup on me.

annamal

I'm not typically a fan of vanilla, but this has become my new obsession. It's hard to put into words what I feel when I smell it. The scent was so captivating and delightful that it was a truly euphoric experience for my senses. The quality of the ingredients and their blending are remarkable. It transitions beautifully from a fresh, forest-like juniper, making you feel like you're in a pine forest or as if you've just rubbed juniper berries between your fingers, to a flawless vanilla scent. It's perfect because, although I usually dislike vanilla, this one isn't the edible, bakery-like kind but rather a fresher version. This fragrance genuinely uplifts my mood, it has such a strong profile. Signature scent worthy.

SilkyWoods

This is indeed what Lothlórien would smell like <3

Arieeane

Wowowowow. A sweet airy dusty yet strong projecting natural vanilla. Neeeeed!

Chaderic1986

This is beautiful! Smells identical to Diptyque’s “Chantilly” gourmand candle! This is such a cozy warm and airy vanilla, almost like a French patisserie whipped cream.

1. While the fragrance world seems completely enamoured by vanilla, I thought I hated vanilla-centric perfumes until I tried this one. I tried many. I stumbled by this one by sheer chance and I LOVE IT.
2. The notes listed here in fragrantica are not at all the same as in the Diptyque site. And yes: I'm referring to the EDT version. The notes according to diptyque are: Bourbon Vanilla, Pink peppercorn, Cypriol, Calamus.
Sometimes not all notes are listed, and Fragrantica community completes them. But in this case Cypriol and Calamus are not event listed.

A cool girl's vanilla. Light, resinous, spicy, with juniper. It smells so good but it's not heavy. I wouldn't call it airy, but it's not dense. The scent reminds me the color green. It's somehow fresh and spicy and transparent. To me, this is a unique scent that I can see myself wearing as a daily fragrance. What an expected treat - my favorite from Diptyque.

daisypolo

Gorgeous gorgeous beautiful magical. Wear this and you'll smell like a 14th century French aristocrat living in a chateau. Leans more towards cool than warm, even the vanilla. Breezy but with real depth.

Smells like Cruel World by Lana Del Rey

cheleine

Stunning aromatic, slightly green and woody vanilla that you can enjoy all year round. Ethereal, easy to like and so soothing for the mind and spirit.
I had a sample that I wasn’t too sure about (cardamom and wood seemed a little too prominent on my skin) but I kept going back to it and when it was finally empty and few days passed, I started missing the effect that scent had on me. I couldn’t get it out of my mind so I got myself a full bottle.
I’m pleased to say that after receiving it and putting it on I came to understand the scent even more and fell in love with it. It will always have a place in my collection.

mschroe090

I always love a soft and airy vanilla, and this did not disappoint. It is a very intimate scent with a cozy feel to it, this is exactly what I think fall smells like. The musk and vanilla really stand out to me and the aromatic notes are such a good touch. If you like your vanilla scents light and not too sweet, this is perfect. The sillage is a bit disappointing but that's to be expected with a scent like this.
Overall 8/10

ridhi0710

I'm obsessed with the aromatic notes in this scent! This was something that grew on me rather than a love at first sight scent. I wasn't very impressed at first but somehow I'd always go back to testing it and I just slowly fell in love. I defo love the EDT more as I can use it for everyday. Love it!

clarafragrance

Such a lovely vanilla scent. Very soft but still has this unique and very sensual (imo) spicyness to it. It’s sooo beautiful! It’s a very authentic vanilla that makes you want to bake your favorite vanilla cakes or eat rich vanilla ice cream ;) and I’m usually not a fan of vanilla in fragrances, so that says a lot!

cucumber79andahalf

Lothlorien is a bang on description of this, getting the EDP stat.

Ajlis

Eau Duelle EDT is a dry and elegant vanilla perfume, where spices and musk balance the sweetness of the vanilla. This is the most versatile fragrance in my collection – I can't think of a situation where this perfume wouldn't be suitable. I find myself reaching for this more often than any other of my perfumes. The scent reminds me a little of a chai latte – not too sweet, but a balanced, silky-soft, fluffy, milky drink. It’s a natural and soothing scent, very calm and harmonious. Longevity is not the best, but not the worst either, maybe 4-5 hours. Being so delicate, this is the perfect perfume for the office or to layer with other fragrances. I don't think I'll ever get tired of Eau Duelle, because this is exactly how I want to enjoy my vanilla: soft, dry, natural and chic.

Mgrijalva

I got a sample : I’m not too sure if it was just too small of a sample - but it was ok .. I don’t know .. I am getting some gypsy water - very faint close to the skin smell . I like it .. but I usually like something that really projects , but this is not one of those perfumes - it’s very subtle - I can see how people feel very at peace when then smell this .. I really like it , but I don’t think I would get a full size .. which makes me so sad- because I really love Diptyque

Skinscents4Fusspots

A beautiful green vanilla. easy to wear, unisex and lovely. In the same vein as Gypsy Water. The vanilla in both Le Parfum and Eau Duelle edt reminds me of the vanilla in Babycat and Eau the Audacity. The edp is closer to those due to the smoky incense matching up with the suede / leather notes.

If you're on a budget then I honestly find Lalique Le Parfum would SO similar! I really do think that Eau Duelle edt smells extremely close to Lalique Le Parfum (which has been around longer it seems!). If anything, Le Parfum is slightly less green and resinous and a bit more feminine, so an easier wear. I don't personally find this one very citrusy but it has some cross overs with Lolita Lempicka Green Lover too, which is a green vanilla with a bitter gin and tonic note and a lot of citrus, so that's a good alternative too :)

Isabella Therese

Eau Duelle edt is one of my fantasy fragrances. I'm a big fan of The Lord of the Rings (books and movies alike) and I blind bought Eau Duelle because someone said that it smells like an enchanted forest with a soft cloud of vanilla surrounding it, and that's exactly what I smell too. Soft, fluffy, airy vanilla in the middle of a forest. This is what I imagine Lothlórien to smell like. Eau Duelle is not a warm or edible vanilla, it smells ”cold”, like vanilla in the moonlight on a chilly night in the very beginning of spring. It's a vanilla for spring and summer since it's quite refreshing thanks to the juniper and bergamot. In the fall and winter I prefer something warmer. The longevity is pretty good, it lasts for about 6 hours on my skin, way longer on clothes. Moderate projection. 9/10.

celi

It was really nice on paper, but It was disappointing on skin. On paper It is an unique vanilla, crispy and bight and aromatic thanks to the green tea and the bergamot. On skin It smells that good for maybe one minute, and than it turns into food grade strong vanilla with a tiny bit of citrus...and I am not a fan.

TheMoistPlatypus

an absolute class vanilla blanket of cloudy goodness 10/10

DreamInCream

Eau Duelle eau de toilette is lovely. The juniper jumps out right away. At first I wasn't sure about it, but yes I am a fan! There's a soft smokiness and a lovely dry vanilla, which turns a surprisingly just a tad bit sweet way down in the dry down. Which is less than two hours and then I can barely smell anything at all. I don't need monster longevity, but come one, it needs to last 4 hours.
I got to thinking that Eau Duelle reminded me of another fragrance I haven't seen anyone else mention; Burberry Goddess. So I sprayed one spray on each wrist. While they are not at all dupes, they definitely share a vibe. They are both very airy dry vanillas with aromatics. ED has a prominent juniper, smoke and saffron, while BG has a prominent ginger, saffron and (a very subtle to my nose) lavender. And while some lament the longevity of BG, I keep smelling it way beyond ED.
I'm now wondering about Eau Duelle edp longevity and will I miss the airy and aromatic ED edt?
For now I'll try to try overspraying ED edt and see if that helps with longevity🤞🏻

Eden2earth

Imagine green vines growing throughout a mystical library with vanilla incense lingering in the air as you skim through the dusty pages of an old book that has stood the test of time.

JDHundredweight

I’m surprised not to see L’Occitane Eau Des Baux more in the conversation here as a point of comparison as a lightly smoky, fresh, coniferous vanilla. I’m not saying they’re dupes by any means but I am saying that you really owe it to yourself to try the L’Occitane because it’s excellent and a good deal cheaper.

Thykes10

This vanilla is very aromatic in the opening- I can detect the juniper and cardamom. I'd say the juniper is the most prominent though. The vanilla in this is my ideal- it's like a vanilla extract/bean- super nice! The drydown makes this more vanilla forward but I still detect the juniper giving it a green/fresh spicy twist. This has a very intimate projection- it's so soft that I can barely smell it on myself after just an hour! I'd say the projection is there for about 2 hours and then is even more intimate until about the 5-6 hour mark. Not worth a full bottle IMO- I wish the projection was better. I want to be able to actually smell myself!

togekiss

light, woody vanilla (as opposed to a thick gourmand) that smells 80% like Atelier Cologne's Vanille Insensée, just a bit greener! thus not worth the price tag to me, unfortunately.

slmbrkty

Spicy, warm, oriental. Eau Duelle is a clean sophisticated fragrance. It's suitable for those who want the feeling of being hugged while sipping a cup of spiced tea on a sunny autumn day in the mountains. The dry down is heavenly; it has a vanilla tone and a slight powdery musk that really highlight the greens, pepper, and other notes. At first application, I liked it but wasn't in love. After letting my sample sit for two weeks, I tried again and the scent really matured. This is one of my new favorites for fall/winter. I would buy a full bottle! For now, the remainder of my sample vial will be safely stored away until I'm ready to pull out the hoodies again.

Zac. frags

like a slightly spicy marshmellowly type vanilla that's not too strong. Weirdly smells like how musc ravanguer smells but without any animalic smell to it at all, just imo though.

Eterna1flame

Beautiful beautiful scent. Not in your face. Smells like walking through a new mountain town and there’s a pretty lady in a floral dress that smells clean and fresh and you remember it forever… that pretty lady is you

Diablomoni

Smells like dust and newspapers lol!

Msala140

Spices vanilla. It smells like a pine forest early in the morning while the air is still fresh and crisp getting wafts of not only the juniper but also the tree sap , with some light pepper , and an airy vanilla that feels super light and a bit sweet. I love it , this vanilla is beautiful and I can actually finally wear a vanilla fragrance here in FL that won’t gross me out in the heat .

It lasts on skin easily like 8 hours but projection isn’t great, stays a bit more intimate but I don’t mind .

komail

This smells like Nishane Ani with lower projection and longevity. While this is the original, I fond Ani to be better in almost every aspect.

alexgautonomy

i dont even like vanilla but i love this definitely get a lot of the pink pepper though

Ojiua

I was born to be a vanilla hater, I’ll admit. However Eau Duelle has me doing some self reflecting. Upon initial spray I was pleasantly surprised- this is vanilla, but there’s something very clean and comforting about it. It’s like drinking a hot vanilla chai on a crisp morning in your mountain cabin. I think the cardamom and black tea give this some nice spice, while the juniper creates surrounding freshness. I’ll give it to you Diptyque- you’ve created a vanilla without the nauseating warmth or juvenile body spray aspect I so often get.

Astraia

This scent intrigued me from the first sniff. Immediately, a strong hit of cloves washed over me as a primary note followed by a prominent but still dainty and light vanilla. There is warmth here, like a cup of spiced tea that is cooling on a countertop. Now, several hours later, the cloves have softened and the vanilla has become rounder and even more inviting. And even though this is a warm-feeling scent, it has a tiny sprinkle of something cooling, like a mint leaf floating in that spiced tea. Something here reminds me of my childhood: the smell of sweet, scented plastic came over you as you unboxed a new Barbie or My Little Pony. This scent feels complex and easy at the same time. I cannot see how anyone would dislike this fragrance. Diptyque is proving its legendary status in fragrance after fragrance.

somniorum

a beautiful, icy, composed vanilla that opens with a gust of mountain air. it has a lucid juniper note i didn't know i needed; i might actually love juniper. over a few hours it slowly thaws and becomes sweeter, inching towards the gourmand line without ever crossing it. the aromatics here are so well done...this is an elegant, intellectual vanilla for people with planets in virgo. it smells like an eric rohmer film set in the winter.

unfortunately it has very poor projection and longevity. i have to spray at least four times to feel like i'm wearing it, and it's so expensive for a perfume that barely projects. i like wearing this to bed sometimes but doing so makes me feel financially irresponsible. fall for this one at your own risk...

tilly222

I can’t believe how obsessed I am with this fragrance, considering rubber was the first thing my nose picked up, like a clean tire smell?

Anyway, after a few minutes I was blown away by the beauty of the fragrance. I love gourmands and vanilla, but I really want to branch out into more complex fragrances. This aromatic, spicy vanilla sounded like a great place to start.

I get an ever so lightly sweetened vanilla chai, with the tiniest hint of citrus. I can’t even describe the beauty of this fragrance adequately, but for me this is gorgeous and I’m in love. Please try this is you love vanilla, and want to try more complex and interesting fragrances that don’t smell like a basic, sweet vanilla candle.

Petrichor134

So with this one I need your help. I really do. I split with someone 50/50, decant. Blind buy. My heart is shattered. All I can smell is a wooden plank, like freshly cut pine wood and a little bit of vanilla caviar. Nothing else. No juniper, resin, tea. How? Is this really it? Someone really said it before, hardware store. If you can, share your thoughts with me. Thank you.

midsommarhäxa

Eau Duelle is SO good. I reach for it when I want to wear perfume but don’t want to overbearing, or before bed, I’ve even reached for it when I wasn’t feeling well for comfort.
It’s the fresh aromatic vanilla you never knew you needed until you got it. I love the EDT when I want something light and airy and fresh, when I want to smell like something but don’t want to smoke out a room.
This is a non-gourmand vanilla, with all the right herbs, and just enough musky woody base to ground the airiness perfectly. I think this is a really safe blind buy that will appeal to many people for any season and most situations while also being a unique take on vanilla so it still feels special.

sidesalad

This is a captivating, mysterious, slippery scent. It hides, then pops back when you least expect it. When you get a full whiff, it's the most delightful, soft, spicy vanilla. But then it retreats, not declaring itself to you but "oh, you smell sweet!" so maybe others know more than you do. Once I wrongly thought I'd done something very wrong, so I then purchased Eau Duelle to remind myself to have confidence, even if it isn't always obvious.
--> Eau Duelle is a fragrance that teuly needs to, OMG I'm going to say it such gross imagery, "macerate" in a dark drawer in pitch black darkness for a few months until it's true beauty can be unleashed.

stinkygreta

Feminine hardware store? Browsing some delicious plywood and then boom! I've heelyed across the smooth concrete into the garden section. Photorealistic home depot,

Brdnz

Fresh and woody vanilla, dries down without going play doh like, quite masculine on me, great if you don't normally love vanillas that are too synthetic/sweet/gourmand. Longevity is alright but it doesn't project at all

aweso10

to echo our queen of vanilla miss caroline stern, this is the perfect "hotel lobby vanilla". starts off quite herbal/aromatic with fresh juniper, black tea and a bit of a frankincense vibe, and then transitions to a soft, powdery vanilla with the drydown. the EDT is very subtle/doesn't have intense projection but I would say that it's perfect to wear to the office or any intimate setting where you want to feel classy but also hot ;)

anna1987

Smelled it and had to think about 5 minutes why this smells sooo familiar. It‘s a perfume I used to have and now I remember - Mon Guerlain! Not the same but similar vibe. Other than that - a very soft spicy vanilla, I love the elemi & cardamom in this. Heaven Scent. And not as strong as mon guerlain.

primadoll

First spray its vanilla and pine forest. It is def unisex. The good thing about this is that it is very wearable, yet unique. This has gotten me compliments at work, smells like a luxurious Scandinavian spa. Kinda. It becomes sweet once it has settled on the skin!

Odor Aeternitatis

Eau Deuelle is not a typical sweet gourmand vanilla which is a trend. It has a French style vanilla scent that is light, refined, and delicate, with all the notes perfectly blended together. I had been looking forward to trying this fragrance for a long time, with the hope that it might become my go-to vanilla fragrance. However, when I finally tried it, it didn't really grab my attention.
6.5/10

Laiidee

My first wear experience on skin...

I will start with saying I am so open to the world of parfum. I try not to box myself into a particular blend of notes. Fragrances like this are why I love this openness about myself. I have heard/ watched reviews on this time & time again &...they do no justice to scent on skin.

At first spray, I got this airy, freshness, wind of balsam pine. As the pine develops, it gets louder but with a kick of citrus & some spice. Yes, pine needles, zest of bergamot, & pepper. I actually enjoy it. It is bright & kind of like "Holiday Cheer"...so I feel.

Then the pines calm but stay in the near background as this sweetness enters. It's gentle with a whisper of green, almost pear like but not pear like...almost green apple like but not. It's sweet, green, soft, & still a bit bright.

I get the cardamom & vanilla as I enter the dry down & it is soooooooo dayum gooooood! It is cardamom leading with the vanilla wrap around it. They are equal parts for a period of time, and then the vanilla takes the lead.

Now we have this soft, fluffy cloud of vanilla. The vanilla is yummy & plays with the saffron on a powdery cloud that I can assume is the musk. This musk is beautiful. It is absolutely captivating. I can not stop smelling my hand. At different moments of the dry down, I can actually catch a soft scent bubble of the opening pines.

It is such a unique vanilla. OMG, I can NOT keep my nose off my hand 😂🤣 I just know I will get great wear as we enter the "Holiday" run. She is definitely coming with me when I pick up my christmas tree, lol.

THAT'S IT! She is everything I imagine Colorado to be during the holidays!!! The cold, clean, crisp breeze in the air. You hear it pass through the leaves of various tall green trees & thick burgundy woods. A mount of fresh fallen snow that lights up outside our huge panoramic window view. The warm, cozy attire & thick knits. An oversized, soft cashmere blanket to wrap yourself in while holding nice warm, vanilla drink of something something... with marshmallows, of course, lol.

Oh, how I can't wait to rent a cabin & do Christmas in Colorado. Diptyque eau Duelle is Christmas in Colorado! Everything Winter is meant to be!

Fjkennett

For some reason, I don't like diptyque's spray fragrances. They come across as smelling a bit oily and thick opposed to a clear cloud of fragrance. I like their overall scent profiles, but the thick oiliness takes away from their scents being refreshing / comforting. It's almost like they use candle-fragrance materials in their body scents. Could be. Still a fan of the brand though.

cloudk

I will keep giving this a chance, because there are great qualities to it. However, to me this smells sort of like a dried up flower that is turning a bit sour. Perhaps it is the saffron note? I sort of sometimes hate that smell, even if it makes me less sophisticated lol

KindaQuirkee

I thought I was just mid on this, but now I really like it. I accidentally sprayed it on my hands and immediately got the woodsy, balsam fir-esque notes. It radiates vanilla from a distance but the woodsy element makes it far more interesting up close.

Gingertaylor

when i first tried this on, my boyfriend pulled me closer and remarked how good i smelled. maybe 30 minutes later, he smelled my wrist again and said, "hm. smells like play-doh." the vanilla hunt continues!

SeaElle

This is very resinous for me, and on my skin, the resins are animalic, a hint bitter, maybe even leathery? Something that maybe reminds me of new tires — but for some reason it’s not offensive or off-putting? Some of that bitterness may be the tea note, but it’s blended so beautifully that it is difficult to tell where one note ends and another begins. There’s a glimmer of something bright here that could be cardamom or perhaps citrus, but it’s very mild — just enough to slightly lift the dank, liturgical resins.

I find it so wild that for years, this was filed away in my brain as a vanilla scent. There’s a sweetness to this that I suppose could be connected to vanilla, but that would be far from my first, second, or even third association. I have no doubt this is vanillic and gourmand on some folks, but this is anything but on me.

Not something I would personally wear, but very captivating. I kept burying my nose into my wrist throughout the day and trying to understand what I was smelling.

Seaena

This perfume reminds me of an elixir in a book that tastes different to everyone who tastes it. To some people this perfume smells like the wind through the juniper trees. To some it smells like fresh cookies. To some it smells like an afternoon in the Mediterranean. To me it smells like a high quality gin followed by the lightest, most delicate vanilla without any sweetness. It's like those of us who grew up with 2000s era Bath and Body Works Sweet Vanilla Sugar matured and wanted something that smelled less like a candy shop and more complex and fresh. My skin tends to rob fragrances of their lightness and pull out the musk and this isn't too heavy for me. I adore it.

Nadiasky

Love it and adore it. I span from musky to incense to gourmand perfumes. This is neither of those for me and yet so special. I prefer edt over the edp version. I really wish it lasted longer on me though.

Candy_Parfum

A gorgeous green, slightly citrus, natural vanilla. This DNA has a strong resemblance to Van Cleefs 'Orchidee Vanille' (which I already own). Somehow, I think I much prefer Eau Duelle.

subtlyyours

Sampled this once at Nordstrom and it’s been on my mind ever since. Caved and bought a full bottle a few days before Christmas and have worn it every day since it arrived with no regrets whatsoever.
My search for the perfect vanilla is over. This is it. It’s perfectly sweet whilst never crossing the line of cloying. It’s airy and light but sophisticated and spicy. It genuinely is the vanilla fragrance i’ve been looking for and i honestly believe this will be part of my fragrance wardrobe for the rest of my life.

v0n

This reminds me a bit of Byredo's G Water but I personally prefer this one 10000x better!!! What a well rounded fragrance. 😍 If you're looking for something that's a "beast mode" then this is not for you.

theblondegourmand

A great non-gourmand vanilla. It is a little bit spicy and almost incense-smelling in the opening. I really can pick up on the pink pepper and cardamom. It dries into a sweet, spicy vanilla. On my skin this doesn't last very long but it does stick to clothes quite well. I am curious to try the EDP to see if the lasting power is much better but from what I've read, the scent is actually quite different than the EDT.

TabledThoughts

Eau duelle is a perfect name for this vanilla~centric edt.
The precarious balance, always well established by diptyque, of certain notes explains.
What with vanilla bourbon, citric bergamot, bitter juniper, heady elemi, pronounced olibanum, super sweet ambergris, sassy saffron, etc...this is a strange yet memorable cocktail!
On my skin, this fragrance is extremely subtle which is very good because if stronger it would be tacky and headache inducing(imho).
What I appreciate most about this edt is that it is easily a unisex sort of vanilla~esque creation. It hints at something uniquely different although it won't be everyones cup of tea(it also has black tea).

Try before you buy but also know you are getting whopping good quality juice with the brand.

CrocodileGrass

I love this so so much. I love vanilla, in general, but there are a lot of vanilla fragrances that read too juvenile, synthetic, waxy, gimmicky, cloying, etc. I love it, but it has to be done just right. Eau Duelle (EDT) is cozy and comforting and very vanilla, while remaining sophisticated and understated and natural. The green, spicy notes keep this fresh and cool. It's become an everday for me... and, tbh, I haven't typically loved a lot of the Diptyque fragrances I've smelled. I also get very decent longevity on this, despite it being an EDT. One of my absolute favorites. I currently have it as my signature fragrance here on Fragrantica bc I wear it so often, to pick anything else would be a lie.

jiaamin

Sprayed on the sample paper and left the store, smelled it when I got back home and I loved it, it was such a wonderful inxtoxicating scent! Then I tested it on my skin the second time I was in store (just before I was going to purchase this) and it was so much worse- a lot heavier and sharper and not as sweet as on paper. Beginning to think diptyque isn't the fragrance house for me unfortunately.

aleckzandurh

For a long time, I never quite understood what a “green vanilla” scent was. Is it referring to a vanilla pod that’s unripe and picked early? Or is it referring to vanilla blended with green notes like leaves and herbs? If you have a definitive answer, DM me lol.

Either way, I feel Eau Duelle is the first vanilla I’ve encountered that feels like a "green vanilla". Unlike the usual cozy holiday vanillas that are warm and gourmand, this is vanilla by day. It’s vanilla on a sunny weekend with no plans. Vanilla wearing a cotton shirt with a top button undone. It’s airy, light, and well, green I suppose. I tried both the EDP and EDT on different hands for a side-by-side comparison, and they both have this easy-breezy feel. I don’t think either version of Eau Duelle is cozy and wintery.

While I’m glad to experience this green vanilla and try something new… it’s not really my thing. I guess the vanilla-coziness association is too strong and I keep wanting/expecting Eau Duelle to be deeper and more ambery (which it isn’t meant to be). For vanilla fans though, I can see it being a refreshing take on a beloved note.

+1 @brandybasisty: "underripe bananas" + "transparent like watercolors"

Thykes10

This is slightly aromatic in the opening- I can detect the juniper and cardamom. This is a super nice vanilla once the dry down hits though. It's a vanilla extract/bean that just has a yummy vanilla quality. Overall a softer projection though. I catch constant whiffs of it for about 2-3 hours and then is more intimate until about the 5-6 hour mark. Wish it lasted longer on my skin...

xanderu

I wish this smelled on my skin like what others are writing. I get nothing green nor aromatic. This scent is purely the lumber section or Home Depot with a smilled costco sized bottle of vanilla abstract. Wonderful for what it is, but a bit sharp to my nose

aflakes

I love this smell so much that I want to cry. Diptyque is my favorite house, hands down. This vanilla is done so well.

brandybasisty

This is fluffy vanilla sugar on top of green aromatics that reminds me of underripe bananas. I can also smell the pink pepper, which I think prevents my nose from experiencing the asnomia I often have when I'm smelling vanilla-based fragrances that are really smooth. It's also slightly milky and resinous, but each layer of notes feels transparent, like water colours. If Eau Duelle EDT didn't already remind me of a particular line of Italian hair styling products, it might be on my want list. Unfortunately the association will always make this fragrance feel like a bougie hair salon.

chloeiill

lovely smell, edt sillage is extremely poor though, would only consider buying edp

just28

Green vanilla.
To me, it smells mostly of vanilla and cardamom.
It's soft and cozy, not too overbearing but very long lasting.
Elegant and simple, but unique. I never smelled a spicy vanilla like this.
Would be appropriate for any situation, day and night.
Could work for summer and spring, but would shine best in the fall or winter.
I don't like wearing anything gourmand when eating, and vanilla can sometimes fall in that category, but I wore this to brunch, and it was not getting in the way of the food. It is not a sweet or gourmand vanilla.
In the end I give this a like and not a love, because the cardamom is very present and I dont like this note enough to have it be the main character.
Classy but casual, easy to wear, well blended, good performance, a nice different twist on vanilla, cozy but not too heavy. I don't think anyone can really dislike it.

Simon-Alexis

Is this a vanilla fragrance? According to my nose, the most present note is cardamom; the vanilla note comes in the second place.

Yakartoshka

The smell is great, but it only lasts about 30 min on me. I am so disappointed by this, as it was my first diptyque fragrance and had heard that the eau de toilette version was long lasting. Truly a shame because I love the smell..

Duckling

You know those little plastic bottles of vanilla essence you use for cooking and baking? Eau Duelle EDT smells like a truck carrying a thousand bottles of that stuff went off the side of a mountain road and crashed into the forest below.

It would be lovely if the vanilla didn’t smell exactly like those cheap little vanilla essence bottles you buy in the supermarket.

jwelch13

My favorite spicy vanilla. Got a bottle last year from my husband for my birthday and it was a love at first sniff. A true vanilla but not gourmandish. My juice has started to turn a golden amber and now the longevity has greatly improved. Perfect for fall/early spring

jlaurw

I could see this becoming my go to Autumn/Winter scent but the longevity is not great. This is pure Bourbon Vanilla on first spray without any sense of sweetness. As it develops, the pink peppercorn really emphasizes the cleanness of the vanilla and the incense adds smokiness and depth without allowing this to lean too sweet. It is a clean fresh vanilla with a heavy smokiness. Eau Duelle is everything that I wanted Replica By the Fireplace to be. To me this is a much more natural smoky vanilla where By the Fireplace leans synthetic. Where By the Fireplace gives off a gourmand toasted marshmallows scent, Eau Duelle leans more upscale like a cozy cashmere sweater next to a dwindling fireplace. This is a really nice cozy cool weather scent.

liushanbao

not sure why no one mentioned this! but on me, it smells exactly like whispers in the library by maison margiela, a spicy comforting vanilla without leaning gourmand if u will

f4iry

this just smells so good in an effortless way like it doesn't have to try too hard. such an easy grab and good for combining with other scents even though its pretty on its own.

roseroserosie

True vanilla but not in a gourmand way.
A lovely choice in cold days with relaxing and reassuring vibe. :)

vetiverry

Testing Eau Duelle EDT on one arm and Majestic Green on the other, both by Fabrice Pellegrin: ED opens resinous and it’s vanilla is sheer, almost-boozy (not gourmand). MG opens with an aromatic spiciness and the vanilla is drier, held up by inky note and cardamom that keep it from being too sweet. ED develops and dries down to an almost vanilla-extract quality (still not gourmand) and MG is slightly sweeter, a comforting almond-vanilla. Both are soft skin scents on me by the sixth hour. They’re not the same- I have and love both.

flem

A smooth pure vanilla. Reminds me of Elish in that way. The opening is a mostly creamy and cool vanilla scent. There are some hints of a warm musky amber undertone, but definitely in the background.

There are quite a few notes in the breakdown and almost none of them come through.

As it dries down it gets a little warmer and kind of feels like the vanillin smell that can come from old books. Kind of mysterious. It gives off an overall comforting aura that works perfectly as a general background fragrance to wear. No one will be offended and most will try and sneak some extra sniffs.

nothing_at_all

Eau Duelle EDT is both vanilla-warm comforting and juniper-cool bracing, never out of balance. There’s a flint dryness to its vanilla, buttressed by elemi, that makes it non-gourmand and its juniper is beautifully dewy, almost wet. It’s perfect on an overcast morning. As the clouds grow denser and the day darker, its bubble offers protection, like a vestibule. I suppose that’s why this scent also makes me imagine looking through ancient glass as it rains outside.

shoujomarina

surprised no one has mentioned its similarity to Kilian's Princess, which is my favorite ever. (same family but this is the cooler, refined and hippie auntie). Eau Duelle opens with Juniper, which gives it peppery herbal earthy vibes. spicy & eventually though this develops into a creamy seductive bourbon vanilla. niche smelling because of all the resin-y elements. my only issue is the staying power! I still think id invest in this though, just because the herbal vanillas are my thing :)

update: bought my very first diptyque and i wear it every night to bed!!! LOVE.

2nd update: commodity gold is a dupe!

PurpleT

Please Diptyque make an Eau Duelle body lotion and hair perfume!! This is totally addictive and so pretty!!

East River Pearl

Herbally, tea-like vanilla. Interesting and cool. Cozy. Unisex. Very Diptyque.

strawbrrymelk

Bohemian and cozy

JulianaMP

This is the first vanilla I have ever truly been able to see myself wearing. It does open with a strong juniper note, as others have said (it truly smelled like gin in my sample vial, and I was concerned) but that lasted just seconds on my skin. It faded quickly into a warm and fairly simple vanilla with a slight woodsiness to it. To me, it is sweet, but not cloyingly so. Despite liking it, I wouldn't buy a full bottle due to the strength; it neither lasted nor projected on me.

Perfumeaddict777

This is such a beautiful perfume! The best summer vanilla ever! I smell a lot of juniper, elemi and vanilla. It lasts a lot longer and has a lot stronger sillage than the EDP which surprises me. I sprayed four sprays on from a sample vial this morning. Not expecting much from it and this is 9 hours later and I still smell it and it's absolutely beautiful. It is 80° outside, slightly windy and all I can smell is this perfume.

Svaness

I had samples of this for a long time before I decided to buy a full bottle. I loved it from the begining, but needed to wrap my head around it. It smells like vanilla and wood. The mix is unusual, but it works really well together. It is more juniper in the opening, and more a linear, light vanilla in the drydown. To me it shifts between a walk between juniper trees, and cookie baking in an oldfashioned wooden kitchen before christmas. It somehow manages this whitout being gourmand at all. It is a more fresh take on vanilla, but with no fruit or flowers. I do not regret buying it. It smells really comfortable to me.

choann

Awesome and not too sweet but more peppery than i thought. want to trfy again

UnseenPoetry

Diptyque is the La Croix of the fragrance world. Eau Duelle is a bottle of water kept next to a box of vanilla and whatnots.

IamdrinkingBeer

A summer-appropriate vanilla. It has a gorgeous tender feminine beauty about it, a smooth edge which i love. Everything is balanced perfectly here.

I am pretty sure Nishane ripped this off with Ani. This is the mother of Nishane Ani, no doubt.

Marie0189

This smells like paper that has a small amount of vanilla spilled on it....I really don't get any vanilla from this unless I'm pressing my nose against my wrist. It's way more of a spiced, aromatic herbal scent, which threw me off because reviews made it seem like this was the perfect fresh vanilla when that note really takes the back seat in comparison to the other notes (at least on my skin). Overall, this is way too overpriced in my opinion for what you're getting, it's honestly just a basic fresh spicy scent and you can find plenty of perfumes with this same DNA for a fraction of the price.

Lom

Eau Duelle is quintessential Diptyque, and one of their very best perfumes. It seems like an ode to the company's very first perfumes and the DNA that makes it an outstanding brand. Its beauty stems from a masterful blend of warmth and freshness, mellow and green notes. The notes may be contradicting on paper but work together in synergy in a natural and beautiful creation. A true diptych of a fragrance.

This is a great choice if you want a mellow vanilla note that is not cloying or too strong, as the vanilla here is only one aspect of the fragrance and used in a clever way. This is what Diptyque represents in my opinion, along with other of their bestsellers and classics, and a niche experience you can only get from them.

/// This perfume manages to make me almost emotional because it reminds me of the period I've discovered their perfumes when they were still in the old square bottles and what that period meant for me personally as a young, excited, curious person. ///

What I love about it is that you can change it with touch, and make the green notes shine through more. It's like you have layers of notes also in the drydown that constantly sit on each other.

عطر مميز و غريب و جميل يجيب السعادة لكن للاسف خفيف جداً هل راح اكرر التجربة ؟ ممكن ليه لا !

mben086

Not for me… for a pleasant but also unique cooling summer appropriate non sweet vanilla, coloeur vanille by l’artisan parfumeur is my preference

gandrasta

This is younger version of original Shalimar to my nose. Spicy vanilla with beautiful whiff of resins. It's really versatile and mass pleasing. But yeah, weak. What a shame

dlst08

I got a new manufacturer's sample of Eau Duelle edt a couple of weeks ago and it's much weaker than it used to be, more in the style of the recent diptyque fragrances (e.g. Orpheon, Eau du Papier), with a sweetish musk/lotion note - the juniper is hardly noticeable, the dry woods nonexistent and the vanilla very faint; it fades to nothing really quite quickly (1h). I think there are probably also various musks & wood-adjacent things (ambroxan, iso e super, I dunno) that I'm anosmic to, but I've sprayed my old bottle on one wrist & the new sample on the other and the difference is striking.

Wearing the sample again by itself after a few days I notice more similarities with my old bottle - if I concentrate I can detect a hint of juniper, and the vanilla is a bit more evident. Still, even taking into account that the vanilla in my old bottle will have deepened, the dialling down of juniper & woody notes makes this a very different scent from what it was, more generic & also more feminine.

cyclone1391

After lusting after this, I finally got a decant from Scentsgift and it's a strong dislike. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to my beloved Gypsy Water and no such luck. Diptyque's website does not list saffron but it is very detectable in the opening. I cannot tolerate saffron on myself, which is why Baccarat Rouge 540 is a hard pass for me. This does not smell like Baccarat, simply a shared saffron note which gives it a medicinal quality in my opinion. I also think this leans a bit masculine for my tastes. Definitely a pine tree like sap quality to it in the opening, then that and the saffron fade to playdoh.

pearlsm

I adore Eau Duelle. It's comforting, sweet but not cloying, simultaneously warm and cool. It's easy to wear without feeling generic. I find it to be quite strong for an EDT and only need one spray to last most of the day (fwiw I have an older bottle). I can see myself returning to it again and again over the years.

Osarolen

There are perfumes that you try and that's it. Maybe it's not your signature scent but when you put it on, it's you.
This is a comforting dry, classy, earthy vanilla. Perfect for late summer transitioning into autumn. Shortening days are still warm, evenings are becoming colder and this spicy earthy vanilla is enveloping you in her soft embrace.
I bought it almost on whim at the airport in a late September day, and loved it since.

dlst08

My bottle is almost 7 years old now and the topnotes are beginning to turn a little acetone-flavoured but I still find this such an easy wear, a subtly sexy inedible gourmand. It's an airy gin-and-tonic (juniper) plus dry vanilla, with woods underpinning. It's never too strong and yet is lively enough to stay interesting - somehow it never has the staid, flat, 'armchairish' feel that straight vanilla perfumes often have on my skin.

It lasts really well for an edt, at least 5h on skin and much longer on fabric, with low-moderate sillage. I wear this for work, going out, staying in, etc. The only negative is that because it's so pleasant it's never going to be the perfume to wear when you want some olfactory drama or to really stand out from the crowd.

Rosiewebber

I was so excited to try this one. I’m on the hunt for the perfect vanilla, and had seen this one recommended so many times as a wonderful vanilla scent.
Ah. Nope.
It smells like Center parcs 🤷♀️ Immediately transported there with this. Like I’m walking through the redwoods on a hot day, I can smell the tree resin, and I get a waft of syrup through the leaves from the pancake house.

In all seriousness it does have a very beautiful vanilla note, and if that was stronger, and it was less literal tree like, I would enjoy it a lot. Alas I don’t enjoy woody scents AT ALL. I’m going to give it to my husband, I think it will work really well on him.
The silage and longevity are also shocking for the price you’re paying.

JohnnyZalami

Nice aromatic vanilla, definitely unisex, anyone could pull this off.

Redzap01

This stuff is amazing. A few sprays at 6am and I could still noticeably smell it by 4pm. Highly recommend, very suitable for men too, I’ve received compliments from ladies

rapscallion

This was a full bottle purchase for me. Absolute love in the fall & winter. A beautiful transition on crisp late summer evenings.

Zero sweetness vanilla — super boozy, hits of leather, aromatic woodiness, occasionally green wood. Very smooth and rounded with the sharpness of booze.

Feels cozy, snuggly, boozy, slightly masculine, an edge of sexiness — an evening fire in a library sipping a bourbon old fashioned.

A true unisex in my book, although the profile on me leans quite masculine and smells even better on my husband IMHO.

Quite a strong scent on me — one spray is enough. Very long lasting on clothing... generally about 6 hours with solid projection from my skin.

dancingdear

It’s definitely high quality I just wish the vanilla wasn’t the main focus. I could hardly smell the other notes. But if you are a vanilla lover I can see this being a favorite. Lasts forever too.

Siennai

It has the same rubber smell as Prada infusion de vanille and Etat's she was an anomaly. Victorias secret heavenly has this also. Maybe i need to back off the vanilla + musk combos as they're proving to be not my thing.

Michelle12345678

Beautiful boozy vanilla scent. Subtle, soft. Does not project. People will smell it when they hug you. Does not radiate, stays close and cozy. Perfect for winter and autumn - although I wear it all year. One of the best out of Diptyque. This soft, comforting, warm, snuggling scent will not offend anyone. Men or women can wear it. Snuggling a loved one in front of a crackling fire, meeting someone for hot cocoa on a crisp, chilly day. Taking a walk in your grey overcoat as your breath freezes in the air. Would also be a great scent to wear to bed - relaxing, cozy, cuddly, inviting, soft, comforting. It's not sweet. It's a boozy, unsweet vanilla. Not sugary. Definitely one to buy and own. I've already on my second bottle.

tuberoses

So boozy! There's a lot more vanilla in this than in Gipsy Water, but I find them very much alike. Eau Duelle, however, puts me more in a meditative state, but maybe this is the placebo effect speaking. I'm used to smelling some drops of olibanum oil before meditation and olibanum is one of the notes that make this beauty of a fragrance.

Toasty-shmoes

Sadly, Eau Duelle just isn’t for me. It pulls very synthetic with my skin chemistry. Something about the juniper and vanilla in combination registered uncannily like play dough (which is bizarre, as Commodity Gold and Gypsy Water are two of my signature scents). Possibly it is the ambergris? That seems to be an ingredient that consistently registers poorly on my skin. Fortunately (for me), the projection and sillage of Eau Duelle were quite weak and wore off within an hour. Clearly lots of other people love this fragrance, so I’d suggest sampling it before committing to a bottle.

Linnsim

It gives me sauna vibes. Dry wood, juniper and a not too sweet vanilla. I love wearing it as it makes me feel cozy, very comforting scent. It reminds me a bit of BYRedo Gypsy water, but this is so much better in terms og performance and projection.

Amour, Michele

Such an addictive scent! It is essentially a woody vanilla. The vanilla is truly the kind you smell on the vanilla pod, with a very classy woody scent that makes you think of an extremely luxe vanilla extract aged in wood caskets for years to maturity. The aromatic and resin aspects combined with the wood makes me think of sandalwood as well. It is the most perfect "scarf" scents that are not beast mode, but will linger for days poking its head here and there, making you want more. It won't fill a room (if you're looking for that, Diptyque is not the brand for you, not their aesthetic), but it lingers and will permeate your space in subtle way. It's delicious like a very rich but crunchy cookie of the darkest chocolate, but not sweet like the usual gourmand perfumes. (Makes sense, I HATE those...). If you're looking for an adult vanilla, this is good. Completely unisex.

lmnsvgz

I found this quite masculine. Very light vanilla in which the background notes are prominent and make it less sweet. Very airy, barely any sweetness in it

Acidula

I was scared by the pink pepper and saffron notes - which usually make me feel sick - but in this case they're used rather sparingly and the final product has a light and bright overture, very uplifting. Too bad it lasts like 10 minutes and then I can't smell anything even on paper. Not worth the money.

ArkangeL

Eau Duelle strikes me as a comfort fragrance, based primarily off of vanilla, but unlike frosting or cake batter. It's quite sophisticated and perfectly gender neutral. It never leans more on one side than the other and blended seamlessly. It's difficult singling out all the individual notes; next to vanilla I can detect olibanum, ambergris and juniper. This fragrance is reminiscent of Commodity Gold and while it is an EDT, it rivals Commodity's strength as an EDP. There are also similarities to Whispers In The Library. This is a great "whenever wherever" fragrance, safe for work environments that you won't get bored with. Also a great fragrance for cuddling up underneath good company.

BeefNoodle

Talk about the definition of "plain vanilla". Smells like vanilla extract used for cooking- vanilla but with very little sweetness or personality. The dryness is not necessarily a ding, but the scent had very little strength or much going for it besides Smells-Slightly-Like-Vanilla-But-Not-Vanilla-Frosting. I got this as a decant and sometimes I worry with decants I am getting a turned or musty bottle when I can barely detect the odor, but I see more than one review on here mentioning how they could barely detect any fragrance, so I guess I'm not alone in being mostly anosmic to it.

LenoreHolly

A very sheer, dry vanilla. Has a lot in common with Lalique Le Parfum, which is a lot less expensive. Had to press my nose to my skin to get a smell of this after testing in store.

rangela71

I’m a vanilla lover, and I don’t get much of a vanilla here. More like dry, woody notes. No sandalwood listed as ingredient, but I definitely get some sandalwoody accord. Not for vanilla lovers. More masculine leaning imo.

Lusylia

I am super puzzled as upon spraying 5-6 sprays on my skin and shirt, I cannot smell a thing. I read a few other people say the same thing - they are anosmic or almost anosmic to EDT Eau Duelle. I am never anosmic to perfumes with an exception of Kilian’s Angel’s share, which I also can’t smell. But other than that I smell fragrance “a mile away” and have no problems detecting scents. What is in Eau Duelle that makes it undetectable to numerous people? PS: I think I smell 3% of what it supposed to emit and it’s just the woody notes and needles, no vanilla, and it’s only for the first 5 minutes, then, nothing.

Sarahlm

I'm actually shocked at the rating of this.
I'm not the best with specific notes, but when first sprayed and for a good hour it's smells exactly like clove oil. (Not sure what element in this is giving off that scent) it's truly horrible. That said I had it on a tester and about 5 hours later it did smell nicer, that clove like smell almost disappeared and it was more vanilla. Still not nice enough to buy a bottle.
For me there are better options at better prices that also have better longevity.

Nataliemarie

I own this, but wouldn't buy it again. It's a dry Vanilla & I tend to enjoy them much sweeter. Think Atelier Vanille Insensee (that does not mean incense). They are distant cousins maybe, but both are examples of a dry vanilla if that's your thing.

soso.sofia

How I adore the opening of Eau Duelle. Not being a huge fan of heavy vanillas, the first half an hour after spraying I actually love it. It is aromatic and ethereal. Truly gorgeous. After that the vanilla gets thicker, sweeter, more balsamic, and while it is also lovely, it loses its special appeal, to me anyway.

LALDN

On paper I don’t love it. On skin I really like it, but has almost zero projection on my skin. Definitely a beautiful skin scent though. But not special enough for me to pay the full price, because I would have to overspray like crazy. Beautifully blended though.

sarahherbs

This has become one of my favorite fragrances, profoundly comforting. It’s the perfect level of sweetness. I’ve never smelled anything like this. This is a dry scent which is uncommon for many vanillas. Think dry like the cocoa powder note found in Feve delicieuse by dior mixed with dry herbal notes (think tea bags). But there is something alive and fuzzy in here. I just love it and I mix it with L'Eau Trois, Hypnotic Poison, Psychedelique, and Bois d’argent, omg heaven.

The Wolf

Slightly aromatic vanilla with a bit of complexity. My skin pulls a lot of olibanum and elmi which makes it almost meditative to me. Very unique, especially for a vanilla scent. I like this a lot.

Scent 7.6/10

FragStar

Opens with a blend of vanilla and elemi and juniper. The elemi is very artificial smelling and brings an unwanted plasticy pepper feel. The juniper has a gin like quality, and the cardamon has a masculine spice. The dry down is much nicer and the vanilla begins to shine. Too little too late, unfortunately. A big miss.

solarpunk

this is a very interesting aromatic vanilla which makes this definitely a unisex perfume, and stands out among diptyque's other offerings. there's kind of a sharper, peppery (sneeze inducing) side to it - the bergamot, juniper, and pepper most likely - with warm vanilla and ambery resins at the base. a few minutes in the sharpness calms down a little. an aromatic, fresh vanilla with pepper & citrus is how i'd best describe it.

stacia79

I enjoyed this one more than expected because for me the strongest note was not the vanilla, but the juniper. For me the vanilla hung out in the background smiling and nodding while the juniper gave the keynote speech. I love gin cocktails and this smells like the best gin cocktail from the fanciest bar in the city.

kwisdommeister

TLDR: Pepper, pepper and more pepper!! It literally made me sneeze, I kept sneezing and got an allergic skin reaction. It also smells like straight up sugar, and cheap. I do not have sensitive skin btw.
Very spicy, it tickles my nose spicy plus a weird type of sweetness, does not smell like natural vanilla to me more like sugar.
Finally got hold of a tester and I’m extremely confused. I read and watched an insane amount of reviews and was expecting to smell something heavenly, instead this reminds me of something which I cannot pinpoint, but something very very cheap like say a toy perfume?! I cannot smell vanilla here, and I mean a natural vanilla everybody is talking about - I don’t smell this at all. This to me smells like straight up sugar, spicy sugar. I’m stunned, don’t know what to think. After about an hour I’m starting to smell something foresty which makes it smell a tad bit better to my nose, and maybe it even starts to grow on me, but otherwise I detect no natural vanilla whatsoever just something very cheap smelling. I’m very confused :( I am in love with Philosykos edp and Tam Dao edp, and was expecting somewhat of a miracle based on reviews from Eau Duelle edt. I like the smell of a vanilla pod, so I was quite literally expecting to smell that with some nice additional notes. So 3 hours in this is so spicy that it is starting to grow on me, because I’ve never had anything that smelled as sneeze triggering as this, maybe like it for the weirdness of it?
Update: by the time I made friends with it, I realized it broke my skin out, got small raised red dots where I spritzed it, so I guess that’s a no from my body.

Kalendra1

I can't smell it on myself either, it last ~20 min on my skin, the same with Gentle Fluidity Gold. I don’t know if anybody smell it on me. I am glad I bought only 10ml.

likesleet

this doesnt have the ambery woody heavy opening that the EDP has. this goes straight into vanilla with more spices than EDP and this did run lactonic on me.

derby2169

Having worn Eau Duelle EDT for a few weeks now, I am rewriting my review, as my opinion of it has changed (for the better).
As a disclaimer, this is not a strong beast mode vanilla, so look elsewhere for that (Jovoy Fire at Will is a good start). This is a delicate, discrete, unisex, green woody aromatic-heavy vanilla that can be worn all year round and pretty much anywhere.
That being said it is currently one of my favorite scent profiles out there.

So what I get here is the picture of a green vanilla bean, sweet and creamy in the inside, but with a certain woody tea-like greenness to it. Vanilla is clearly the focus here, fluffy, warm, and velvety, with a just a touch of a caramel feel typical to benzoin.
The interesting elements here are the green woody embellishments to the vanilla cloud. A bit of citrus sparkle in the opening, pink pepper comes through clearly, a clean green cardamom all slowly turning into a woody supporting note, which to my nose is a green salty vetiver, like in Vetyverio, pale and reed-like with incense and ambergris traces too.

All in all, very comforting, dreamy, but also vibrant and airy. While vanilla is a staple in feminine perfumery I would actually recommend this one for men as well, especially to those that already enjoy warm and tender compositions like Chanel Boy or even something more intense like XJ Naxos but want something more discrete for work.

ROUSAK

The best vanilla fragrance. It is not very sweet. Beautiful simple fragrance. 8/10

iszzieanna

A simplistic, not complicated smokey and spicy vanilla. I love the naturalistic vanilla note in this. It’s a your skin but better, but a vanillic version. This is lovely for everyday use

Boo1974

Unfortunately this perfume renders me asnomic and I can't really smell it on myself. I have no idea why. I got a 1ml decant in a bundle of Diptyque samples and that 1ml was sprayed in its entirety (about 8-10 pumps) with minimal recognition that I was wearing perfume. I just got a faint warm vanilla that lasted about 20 mins. However, later that day in a meeting, my colleague complimented me on smelling nice, so I guess it must be me missing out!

sayajp

It felt like a sweet warm vanilla when I tried at the store but more spicy than vanilla on my skin. I still like a spicy scent tho.

Zoe22

I wasn’t wowed by this at first but I’ve come to love it now.. In the opening it’s similar to Gypsy Water, but then it goes in a different direction when it dries down. I find Gypsy Water retains it's fresh and aromatic notes, while Eau Duelle becomes predominantly a soft, airy vanilla without being too sweet or sugary. While it’s mostly vanilla there’s enough going on that it’s never boring. It’s exactly the sort of vanilla I like.

Staretsi

Juniper and vanilla are the stars of the show here. It’s pleasant enough, and more preferable than the EDP flanker, but I personally find Vanilla Diorama to be the reference for vanilla.

7.5/10

L'eauLark

Love this fragrance year around. The juniper(gin) and vanilla trade places at the top throughout the wear in unpredictable ways. I think that makes the fragrance really fun and special. I do feel like I use a light hand with is one. If I spray too much it just hits too hard. If you’re interested in this type of combo (for an easier price) I recommend Lalique Le Parfum which is bay leaf and vanilla.

CR95

Not a big lover of Diptique. Tried almost all their scents and the only one I really enjoyed is Do Son.
When it comes to this one, it is barely noticeable even if you put your nose to the skin. The only thing you'll notice is vanilla. I think I could smell it stronger if I'd rub onto my arm a real vanilla stick.
Not worth purchasing. I got it in the mini size of 6 different scents from Diptique and this one is the worst.

Dessert Chic

I thought I would love this based on the notes. I even delayed buying another perfume with similar notes thinking this would be superior. Glad I waited on the tester. All I smell is juniper. I thought the vanilla would come through later, but no. The juniper was overwhelming and I almost scrubbed off, but within an hour even the juniper was gone.

Putting this here for me in case I ever want to buy it again. It’s absolutely gorgeous. The most sublime earthy and airy vanilla with the lightest of spices and perfect for all seasons. The tiniest touch of gin and ohhhhh is it sophisticated.
Sadly, the performance doesn’t even reach the 5 minute mark. Zero projection. ZERO. I sprayed 12 sprays on my shirt and an hour later asked my husband if he smelled anything. Nope. I’m a huge Diptyque fan and I think I’ll try the EDP next.

Ginawang23

Eau Duelle EDT is more spice and incense than vanilla on my skin. It's not sweet or playful. To me, it is a very calming and serious scent, like meditating in a temple that has modern furnishings. It's also quite linear. Not much change from the beginning to the dry down. I like it a lot, but it's not interesting enough for me to get a full bottle.
Smell: 8/10
Longevity: 6/10

nyx237

I can kind of sense the tiniest bit of gin and tonic and spice in the beginning, but on me it's a very quiet and very sweet vanilla, nothing offensive but also nothing to write home about

LaBelleDamesansMerci

This is an interesting vanilla, it's more of a spicy inscense sort of vanilla instead of the candy sweet ones out there. Which is a good thing, this suits me better. It also last pretty well on my skin, which is rare for fragrances in general. My skin eats perfume for some reason. The juniper gives it some fizz and booziness which makes it more unisex instead of leaning to much female. I think this is a great addition for the autumn and winter seasons coming ahead!

vanillabeandrop

Tried a 3ml sample of this. Wow, discovered a few things about myself in the course of sampling this perfume. Coming from a Southeast-Asian background, every time I hear the word "spicy", I think of the red-hot heat from chilli. So I was always confused when people described a perfume as "spicy", and only later understand that they mean spices as in cardamom, pepper, etc.

The opening of this smells straight up like I put my head in a spice cabinet, but it feels grounded and not sharp; you don't get that back-of-your-throat sharpness. It turned me off at first but then it really grew on me. There's a kind of dark freshness that it gives the perfume -- I suppose this is the aromatic accord?

In the dry down the spice notes fade away to a distant background and it leans more vanilla. Not a sugary vanilla, but not boozy vanilla either... Nevertheless, it's pleasant, and my partner likes it too. It doesn't feel heavy or cloying.

Someone on YouTube described it as "if Vanilla took a road trip down the Silk Road and absorbed all the scents of the spices" and I think it's very accurate.

I think it's very unique and quite mature. It doesn't smell anything like the typical floral perfumes you would imagine when you hear the word "perfume".

I'm kinda reluctant to fall in love with this because it's quite expensive compared to my other perfumes, and I've heard from other reviewers that the longevity is lacking too. Maybe I'll get another 5ml or 10ml vial first and see if I still love it after that.

P.S. It's been a couple months and my partner has gifted me a 50ml of this perfume. I love wearing it, I think it's so unique and interesting. I get quite a lot of the spices in the opening spray, which sometimes can lean quite masculine (I dislike masculine notes and scents in general). Thankfully it fades away quite quickly. I met a friend and wore this perfume for the first time around her and she immediately said "you smell like vanilla". Good to know others can detect the vanilla but I wish I could too! I do love it still, though I wish it lasted longer and projected more.

mocam

This is a lovely bourbon vanilla, very linear and to the point. I bought and wore often, as I ran out of Mon Guerlain and wanted to try another vanilla. But after about a month I realized there was this sharpness that I really didn’t care for… hard to pinpoint but I think it was spice or some type of aromatic that just didn’t work on my skin. Where I wanted creaminess, I got peppery green notes and I just couldn’t continue to wear it. But overall this was lovely!

dcalandy

I just ADORE this scent profile which reminds me of Saint Julep even though there's no mint note listed. More than gin tonic, it reminds of that cocktail called Hugo, the toned down sweetness of vanilla just giving off that light elderflower syrup-y vibe that takes me back to my favorite uni cafe in Munich where they serve the best Hugo.

likesleet

really aromatic > vanilla. kind of like if the unpleasant opening of EDP stayed.

betty_bounce

How my nose gets Angelique Noire from this, I can’t say, as they only share 2 notes and neither is angelica. But there it is, Angelique Noire - for 2 minutes anyway. (Which made me realise how much the pepper contributes to AN’s opening - isn’t fragrance interesting?) Then a brief pencil shavings phase, which settles into unsweetened vanilla wood. It’s more pleasant than I’m making it sound, I promise!

kianilla

Iv the EDP for a couple days now and I like it a lot It smells great but the Performance for the price is ridiculous. I don’t know why this just doesn’t stay on my skin. I moisturize and moisturize but it just won’t stay. I get about an hour maybe an hour and a half before I have to spray again. I it’s the middle of summer too so I didn’t think id have this problem. I don’t think iv gone nose blind by it iv only had it for a couple days? I’m going to keep it because I love the sent and I want to see how it performs in the winter. Going to try laying it with different scents too to try and get more longevity. The beginning is kinda rough I get vanilla and pencil shavings but give it about 10 minutes and the pencil shavings smell smoothes out into a warm spicyness.

Casbag11

Maybe I need more time with this scent … all I get is a gin and tonic vanilla… seriously all I smell is juniper… I’ll come back to this maybe in the colder weather… beautiful bottle

Ok I like this it’s refreshing I’ve been wearing this in the morning. A unique vanilla worth trying. The sharp opening doesn’t last very long and becomes a fresh spicy vanilla.

Young Finesse

very unique vanilla. Powdery and smooth richness in a bottle. Blended very well, which is expected from Diptyque. Give it a try if you like spicy, vanilla, and powdery ones.

AnaCristian

I'm head over heels with the house of Diptyque, the scents are exquisite, very different, very natural and so elegantly beautiful. This scent though.. It's magnificent. It's such a calming, soothing sweet, aromatic vanilla that nothing smells like it. It makes you feel that you are in a very rich old London house, sipping some black tea with milk and brown sugar, reading a Lawrence Durell kind of novel, feeling the rusty smell of the book.
Trust me and try this, it's pure bliss, everything you imagine from the notes, but a thousand times better.

mrshnchnkm

Oh wow, I love it. It's a milky and woody vanilla with a lot of spices. It reminds me of chai latte with condensed milk - sweet, creamy, spicy, warm and cozy. It's the perfect wintertime scent.

twoski

This smelled incredible to me. A super unique vanilla scent that's fresh, aromatic and immediately attention grabbing.

I really wish they would get this in EDP (or even extrait concentration) because as an EDT it doesn't last long on me.

I find this unisex, maybe some will find it leans a bit femme.

Vetiverynice

I wanted to blind buy a full size bottle of something a few weeks ago, just for the thrill of it—I’d made some extra money this spring and decided to heck with it, life is short, why not—and after much waffling back and forth between this and a few other fragrances, I chose to buy Eau Duelle EDT. It is absolutely delightful, and has been a successful blind buy, even during these summer months.

I do think it will be better in the fall and winter, but the late spring/summer warmth has really brought out a lovely sweetness to it. I know this is supposed to be a more non-gourmand vanilla, but I still think it’s scrumptious. It’s not a cupcake vanilla. It reminds me more of a warm-spiced vanilla bean simple syrup I once made. There is an aromatic, resinous facet to this fragrance, for sure, which I think makes the sweetness stick more to the back of my throat when I breathe it in.

I think this is perfectly appropriate for daytime or nighttime, and I think it’s the kind of scent that works for any gender. I’ve found that this scent does last on me, even this time of year. I put it on before work this morning, around 6:30 AM, and could still easily smell it at 5:00 PM. I can’t wait to see how this does in the fall and winter.

Svaness

Now I have had the oppourtunity to compare the EdP to the EdT version of Eau Duelle. I am unsure wich I like better. I like that the EdT is lighter an more woody in the opening, but I really like the creamier drydown of the EdP. The EdP starts out to strong for my taste, with incense and some smoke. The drydown is round and gorgeous amber and vanilla. Not to sweet, in comparison to the more simple very sweet vanillin of the EdT.
I wish I could have the opening of the EdT with the evolusjon of the EdP. I like both though.

christinebyh

I've owned this fragrance for a few years now but am still unsure on how I feel about it. I appreciate it for being a pleasant easy-to-wear vanilla fragrance. It's not cloyingly sweet, well-rounded, and more mature/unisex. Perhaps I'm looking for that extra something, which I think this fragrance lacks. I do like the addition of juniper, which makes this more unique and better than the average vanilla perfume. The projection isn't great but the scent remains close to my skin for many hrs. Still on the hunt for a unique/perfect vanilla.

EDIT : in 2024, after 6 years, I still feel exactly the same. It’s a transparent yet woody vanilla, which is pleasant but not special enough to call it a love.

ckorp8

Extremely soft ethereal and close to skin scent. Lasted over seven hrs. But you really need to be alone in a room with it to pick out the scent. Can’t pick out the scent when out in the open or in a busy venue. Love the scent but since it’s so weak I can only list it as okay. Wanted the EDP but made a mistake. Next time won’t be so quick at grab and pay. Lol. Same thing with Eau Rose, bought the two together!

Darcy_x

When I smelled this, it reminds me of something I smelled before many times,
I thought it was Zadig Voltiare This is her. But you are all right, it's ALL SAINTS - Metal Waves, which is less than half the price and the longevity is really good. So I would go for that if you like this. It's a unique vanilla that isn't to sweet. I would enjoyed it more in the fall-winter I think.

Singabera

Smells like MAC lipstick, soft not sweet vanilla

SilkyWoods

Pretty for 5 minutes then it’s gone forever. The EDP is much much better.

jbsherry

A beautiful smoky and woody-green vanilla. I agree with the reviewer below me that it reminds me of Guerlain's Spiriteuse Double Vanille, with less incense and more wood, which I presume comes from the juniper note. Linear and straightforward composition. I can see it working in practically any occasion or climate.

My only complaint is the moderate longevity and sillage (like most of the Diptyque EDTS that I own, sigh), so I wonder if the EDP is worth checking out. But it's worth reapplying because I enjoy it so much.
This is a vanilla-centric scent that exudes sophistication.

Update:
I was becoming anosmic due to repeated wear. After taking a break this does have decent projection and lasting power.

carmenandmonkey

I love this scent but I cant bring myself to purchase this because it lasts 1 minute on me (ive tried on skin and clothing). Its such a beautiful well blended unsweetened vanilla with delicate slightly green aromatics. The EDT has more top note airy spice nuances- its magical fairy dance but lasts 5 seconds. The EDP lasts slightly longer but feels heavier and flat in the mid note resins. Ideally i would like to layer a dozen sprays of each. But until then i will always be on the lookout for a long lasting dupe.
Side notes- i dont find it smokey/burnt. The cardamom and vanilla combo does not veer towards chai. It has some “green” from juniper but not green like a broken stem/grass. If i had to compare it to another fragrance i would say its the bougie minimalist sister of gypsy water.

ilaria903

A sweet woody nectar that envelopes you like a blanket. It's perfect for winter or cold days.

klonopinbrat

Man, I wish this one lasted longer. The spicy vanilla & juniper berry combination is so sublime in theory (and for a few cloying hours). The vanilla + spice (especially saffron) combination has a lovely, mature warmness to it. Syrupy-sweet but somehow biting in intensity.

The EDT has a super strong gin opening. It quickly dried down to an aromatic, alcoholic, and green vanilla smell. The vanilla notes are similar to an actual vanilla bean pod, so not super sweet.
There is also a faint smoky tone to the dry down. It is quite wintry, but the juniper lightens it up a bit. It's like being in a forest cabin sitting near the fireplace- someone is baking with vanilla beans in the other room- you spilled your gin & tonic on the armrest of the chair a few hours ago and get a whiff of it every now and then. I found this scent very androgynous

The projection and silage is very subpar on my skin. However, I did still purchase a bottle knowing it was a skin scent since I was so intrigued by the juniper/vanilla/spice combination. If it had any projection and longevity at all this might be something I wore every day.

Shapy

I LOVE this EDT
It's a perfect grown-up vanilla scent for whoever is looking for an unique, warm and uplifting vibe.
I wear this one when it's rainy when I feel that I need some me-time walking down the street.
I wear it almost everyday because it makes me feel so good and happy about myself!

wenshere

Eau Duelle is honestly the most realistic and natural vanilla scent I've smelled and I really like it.
I tested both EDT and EDP and I prefer EDT more because I don't really like the black pepper in the EDP, but that's just me. I do find that the EDP is longer lasting however but that speaks for itself. I just prefer EDT because it's sweeter and a bit lighter.
That being said, this is by no means a gourmand vanilla (although I do love gourmand scents) but I think most people already know that. I do think EDP is a bit more masculine but I think in general both can work as a unisex scent.
Whilst Eau Duelle is a spicy woody vanilla, I find it really easy to wear as an everyday scent! It's not overwhelming at all and I feel really nice and comfortable with it. For those who want to try a vanilla scent but who aren't a fan of gourmand I'd definitely recommend this.

mandyads

A much lighter and brighter (almost citrusy or salty) version of the EDP. Smells like an organic and earthy soap combined with some type of vanilla and zest. Like walking into an organic body shop full of hand-pressed soaps and natural body oils, but add in swirls of rich vanilla.

Fragaddict123

I have the edp version and this one is a disgrace to the edp
Its more citrusy but sadly very weak
The performance destroyed the experience for me I always trend to avoid edts but I made another mistake in buying this one

〰✴ Unconventional spicy vanilla ✴〰

It took me so long to figure out how to review this scent, it's been a journey!
The first time I tried this perfume I smelled it too quickly right after spraying it and I found it too strong and pungent. I had to be more patient, waiting a few seconds to let the parfume set. When I realized how good this scent was, I couldn't get it out of my head, and I ended up buying a 100ml bottle of EDT. It's a sweet and delicate vanilla, very natural and absolutely not sticky sweet, I wouldn’t define this gourmand, it’s very pleasant.

As much as I love this fragrance, I'd like to try to rate it with a broad point of view. For me it's a very simple and easy to understand fragrance that basically smells like vanilla and spices, especially pink pepper. For this reason, to get a similar result I sometimes use a layering of pepper and vanilla (on a white musk body cream base). Since it's not a complicated fragrance, I think it's suitable for everyday, daytime and evening wear. Spicy sweet scents’ lovers can wear this without the risk of projecting an overpowering vanilla smell, not dark and deep but light and fresh, yet sweet. I have to say that the people I've had smelling it have not shown much enthusiasm. They've always told me it's a good scent, but I get the impression that it's just not memorable. In fact, I must confess even though it's fine for everyday use sometimes I get bored and want a change, and for that reason I wouldn't call it my signature scent, even though I enjoy it.
I think it's suitable for all seasons and all ages. It's a gender neutral fragrance, absolutely suitable even for men who prefer sweet scents (although I'd like to point out that -in my opinion- perfumes have no gender, just like make up and clothes…). About the sillage, I’m a little disappointed... the fragrance stays close to the skin, it's very intimate. I would like to share it more. The huge downside of this fragrance is quite important to me: the very weak longevity. It does last a little longer on my clothes, but that's not enough for me, especially for the price it costs. Since the EDP lasts longer due the ambroxan I was tempted to buy it, but I’m glad I didn’t: still an amazing fragrance, but with less pepper, so I think the fragrance lose its uniqueness. I highly recommend to smell and compare both of them before buying. Not a safe blind buy overall. A quick idea for an unexpected twist: try to layer Eau Duelle it with a deep fragrance to get a darker scent. I suggest notes such as coffee, caramel and woods.

I usually like to creatively imagine a setting for perfumes, but this time I'm struggling with storytelling, so I suggest you read what they report on the official website, which I pretty much agree with:
“An ode to travel and vanilla. Along the spice route, the vanilla at the heart of Eau Duelle takes on new aromas: luminous, addictive accents of calamus and dark, smoky nuances of cypriol. Travelling through time and over borders, Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar reveals itself between darkness and light.”

Overall: 7.5/10

Can't deny it was good the first 2 hours and turned out being like bbw warm vanilla sugar. Not a fan of stong vanilla scent.

aveno

I’ve only ever tried these two fragrances from diptyque; this has a much better longevity on me than Philosykos EDP does even though it’s an EDT, but I feel like this is missing something?

I enjoy the tea-vibe i get from it. I don’t know if i’ll keep the full bottle, though. It’s pretty, just not for me.

classicalex

at first, i sprayed it and my impression was that it was a little too herbal and dusty for me. the vanilla was pretty but i thought i'd surely get a headache from too much vanilla'd sweetness in time.

i'm glad to say that my first impressions were wrong -- i've really grown to love it. its surprisingly airy, a little smoky. slightly bitter likely due to the black tea. it gives an impression of incense but not overbearingly so. the very natural-smelling vanilla never gets any sweeter than it does when you first spray it. its the main star here and the cast of supporting notes really make it shine.

i think this would be good for early fall and winter, maybe early spring.

mikaelaonfragrantica

Beautiful green scent

looraw

A realistic, grounded, woody vanilla. It is comforting without being overly sweet. The background prick of spice adds a beautiful complexity and maturity to this fragrance, and as others have mentioned, an image of a vanilla pod (woodiness and all) springs to mind. So gentle and introspective - my new favourite!

bi.ann

To me, this is the best green, spicy, non-gourmand vanilla fragrance I've ever smelled! It's such a unique scent that can be enjoyed all year round. I actually prefer this version over the EDP, which is a bit heavier on the vanilla. Overall, this is a LOVE for me. After a sample, I've already placed an order for a full 100ml bottle!

aloe_tree

Bergamot, juniper and pepper were quite strong in the first 30 mins, then settled down to let the vanilla come through. Very intimate sillage, and couldn't smell it by the end of the day.

Swedelish

I've loved Eau Duelle for years and don't think I'll stop anytime soon. It's an aromatic spicy, balmy resinous, slightly woody vanilla done just right. I love the hit of cardamom and juniper in the opening. It's woodland vanilla on a crisp, sunny autumn day. Frankincense and elimi give it a cool antiquey vibe. Reminds me of an antique brass vase that's been kept pristine and polished that someone uses as decor in their stylishly designed home. Everything is in perfect balance.

The edt is my favorite. The vanilla is heftier in the edp, so it drowns out a lot of the exciting spikes and peaks from the spices and resins, which are so prevalent in the edt. For those who like a more dense vanilla without much transparency and effervescence, the edp is the way to go. For those who like more nuance and a brighter vanilla with coniferous, spicy, incensey notes, get the edt.

Lasts and projects moderately.

jassca99

Not a boring vanilla but it’s not a knock-out either but that’s what I love about it. The dry, woody, green, slightly spicy qualities make it interesting and lifts the natural vanilla that’s comes quickly after. The vanilla is very straightforward for majority of the wear with very subtle greenness lingering. It isn’t too thick or heavy, so it can be used for everyday wear. Longevity and projection is average on skin but on clothes, it’s better! I honestly smell it throughout my work day without spraying more. Update: I’ve had this for 1 month and I’m already half way through. I need to stop lol. My juice is still light. I wonder how it’ll smell if it darkens. Not sure if it will darken but curious.

Edt and Edp are both great. Very similar except the Edp is more spicy and sticks around a little longer. Eventually it lingers in the background too, as the vanilla takes over. They both have the same vanilla but the Edp has a little bit more projection. I picked the Edt however because it’s has other things going on besides spice, thus wearable in hotter seasons too. Also I now have Angelique Noire and Eau Duelle EDT together and glad I have both. They’re not similar. Yes in the same profile community (green vanillas), but Angelique is more juicy, in a wet green way, while Eau Duelle is more dusty, in a dry green way, but both in the best way possible.

Scentedalterego

What they say is true, this is one of the best grown-up vanillas around.

Lightly peppered and spiced politely sweet vanilla on a bed of resins with a green overlay. Understated chique. If you’re in doubt between this and Vanille Insensée get this, far better imho, albeit less woody.

I have the EDT and I’m very pleased with both the scent and the performance. Not suitable for very cold winter days, it’s too airy and aromatic. If you prefer deep and rich get the EDP, but I feel the EDT is more unique.

Suitable for office as this isn’t overpowering, it has soft sillage, it’s original but very likable and lasts for the day. A winner indeed.

MademoiselleMaya

It's a warm, vanilla-centered scent, a bit aquatic and clean. It's december and it is not full-bodied enough, I will revisit the scent in spring and autumn. It has classic development showing the fragrance piramid, but the resins, citruses and herbs only highlight certain powdery and sweet bourbon vanilla facets, nothing else.
Projection is polite ;) and it is long-lasting ~24h on me.
My impression is based on eau de toilette version.

handkmommy

This is a nice perfume, but we have all probably smelled this before. It smells EXACTLY like bath and body works In the Stars. The opening is a little more peppery. The kind that you smell when you grind up peppercorns. Then it settles down to BBW scent. Don’t waste your money thinking you’ll get something unique and fabulous. Nope, go get you the BBW mist and you’ll smell like Duelle all day.

Sreza7

One of my favorite vanilla fragrances. Sexy. This vanilla is sweet, resinous and musky. It’s has a fluffiness to it. The musk and resins give off a light smoky vibe. I pick up on a slight green note which could be the juniper, tea or even the bergamot which is citrus but all of those help cut through the heavy vanilla and resins. Artfully crafted, it’s a delicious masterpiece. Full bottle worthy!

Kaylovely

I think the EDP and EDT are the same but diffrent performance (oil). This is super similar to ivory route also gentle gold. Zinging affect to the nostril. This in the middle of the 2 mention, could be a layered effect if you have both. Even the unique/super niche fragrance are smelling similar to one another yet diffrent. Cool performance for the EDP is ok seems more oily than gentle gold. Yet having more oil could cause it to not project seeing the quality of the oil etc.The saffron, pink pepper, and olibanum (frankincense) makes this spicy and pop also the juniper.

A green, fresh take on vanilla! 💚 🍃 Kind of reminds me of Florabotanica by Balenciaga (one of my greatest loves) if Florabotanica had vanilla. This is so aromatic and just a comforting, relaxing scent. What I don't like is it doesn't last too much on my skin.

This is a lovely and pleasing scent and I can't see how someone would dislike this. I think this is perfectly unisex but leans feminine.

I really am enjoying my sample. This isn't anything mind-blowing though, IMO. I'm not really going out of my way to get a bottle nor do I feel the need to do so. Maybe in the future, that will change, who knows?

Sreza7

Fresh green vanilla. Beautiful.

lifnisanders

Very vanilla dominant with a lil bit of spice maybe. Smells elegant and ends up being a skin scents for me. Bought it as a blind buy cause i saw a kpop idol wearing it. A safe one tho since im a fan of vanilla.

bel.gravia

An aromatic herbal vanilla, a bit like Lalique Le Parfum. A fine vanilla, not the one used in cakes and candies. A high quality perfume, quite unique, yet not my cup of tea, I am not a big fan of the opposing duality of Eau Duelle.

dear,prudence

Opens as an interestingly fresh vanilla, with some spices and green notes. Unfortunately, the spicy/green notes don't survive past the initial opening - the drydown smells exactly like Vanillin-Zucker.

goldiloks

I really wanted to love this one, and I don't mean to throw any shade on this, as it IS beautiful and delicate (like most Diptyque) and I am a vanilla gourmand lover (usually) but this set off my sinuses and headache straight away. Not sure what the ingredient is, and I hate it when this happens! So many lovely perfumes that must be steered clear of because of sensitivities :( A beautiful, cosy but elegant, vanilla, with dusty woods and a kick of something citrus. Inoffensive to most I would say (unless you're like me and have allergies!). It is warm, yes, but there is something in this that throws it off into furniture polish territory for me. I feel the same about YSL Cinema, also a lovely vanilla, so there must be something up with my nostrils. If you love vanilla but you don't like too sweet, definitely give Eau Duelle a sniff!

scnofthcrime

I know people think of this as a vanilla perfume, but to me it's more like a dry woods and vanilla perfume. This is not gourmand at all on me. Overall I like this scent and have owned it for years, however sometimes the wood notes are too prominent and rough on me. On me this is primarily a bitter wood scent mixed with some vanilla bean pod. I do sometimes feel like this would be better in candle form rather than on my person as sometimes I feel like I need a break from the unrelenting woods in this one. This one is a little simple on me, but I can very much see how this would be warm and comforting to others. I think this is pretty unisex, any guy who likes woody fragrances can most likely pull this off since it's not tooth achingly sweet. (This review is for the EDT)

clo2005

very green and fresh opening, not my cup of tea but you might like it if that's what you prefer. don't get much vanilla in the opening

hellebelle

Diptyque has a reputation for producing well behaved, classy scents that also work as candles to scent the home. Eau Duelle is no exception. There is vanilla here but it’s not at all what I would consider gourmand, and I wouldn’t even describe it as a particularly sweet scent.
It’s mostly light, woody incense on me, with a touch of something green and herbal. To be perfectly direct, it smells almost exactly like the inside of a nice yoga studio. I doubt this was the perfumer’s intention, but it strikes me as a “spiritual” scent that has nothing to do with hippies and I actually really love that idea.

I quite like it, but I think I would prefer this one in candle form. I’ve gotta say, all fragrances are unisex of course, but I think Eau Duelle would be *spectacular* on a man. I think I’ll hand it off to my husband if he has any interest, if I don’t end up swapping it.

juicypearxo

I love this perfume. It’s such a gorgeous vanilla that isn’t an edible vanilla. Idk what it is but it just makes me feel so cozy and nice. So soft but still dances around you a little when you move around. 8/10

ScentFan2021

The EDP is OK, this EDT is much better. More notes, and not so dang musky. There's something vintage in the EDP that bothers me. This is nice. 3.5/5.

Aprettygarden2

Very simple fragrance, but sometimes that all I need. I’ve been sampling a lot of fragrances that are more complex, and this one I found to be so comforting. It smells like cookies and it’s just very straight forward. If you’re a vanilla lover, this is worth a sample. I must add I do wish the longevity was better. I got about 3-4 hrs.

wandavision

there's something about this i just don't like. idk what note it is, but i just can't get with it. it smells like a dessert, but not like cake or something. this dessert was made...... in the woods... but not woods woods, like a national park 40 minutes away from a big city, and the batter was stirred with a candy cane. if that makes ANY sense. it's kinda like a sexy play doh? i really do not know man, i can't put my finger on what's going on w this scent. i don't wanna get rid of it because i like the bottle and don't want to go through the return process, but i might have to.

klrobe002

Sweet and spicy vanilla forward perfume. Reminds me of going to a dessert house after a luxurious dinner in the city on a fancy date with a sexy man.

Recipe for Eau Duelle Spiced Vanilla Angel Food Cake -

1 dash spice and citrus
1 dash incense
1 light as air, not too sweet vanilla angel food cake (can be found only in a magical, nonexistent bakery in my imagination)
1 dash golden amber
1 dash soft musk

Swirl ingredients together in a very pretty bottle (Do NOT skip this part! It’s part of creating the magic of this scent!)
Speak words of love in French while drinking black tea…
And then behold one of the most magical vanillas ever created! (At least to me.) ❤️

Anitanita.

Juniper overdose .It smell so strong and sickle sweet (I'm huge gourmand and sweet perfume lover) to the point I can't stand it.I'm glad I only got myself 1.5 ml tester as I was so close to blind buy it,thankfully I did not.
Juniper is so strong note in this juice that it over takes rest of it,sadly.
