The new formula lacks sillage of the oldies

Floralauriel

The citrus in this was gone before I knew it. The dry down was very masculine, nauseating and smelt like some sort of powdery cleaning product. It certainly was fresh, but kind of smelled like a freshly cleaned public bathroom. Nope.

D&G Light Blue used to be one of the best fragrances until the brand reformulated. Im sure this has been reformulated because I and ladies in my family have gone through bottles of this ever since it was released in 2001. The scent was so distinct because of how great it projects and lasts on skin and clothes. It was even easy to spot a person wearing this fragrance as they walked by.

Today, Light Blue is just a skin scent. First few sprays, I can smell the fruity, citrusy, musky, and bright notes. But its gone just minutes after on skin and clothes. I even bought Light Blue Intense thinking it would be better, but nope, skin scent too. Both even smell screechy and alcoholy after some time, which the OG never did back in the day.

I've purchased all my fragrances at the same department store for years so I know everything is legit. I even thought maybe the Light Blue and Intense version's testers are just old that's why they smell off, but nope. Testers and new bottles of Light Blue are just a big disappointment. This actually made me not buy Light Blue Summer Vibes. I just didnt want to waste my money on any Light Blue versions anymore.

I like this perfume. It's nice, fresh, summery and -almost- nostalgic while remaining quite uplifting, but what it's surely unique about it is how many compliments I get when I wear it. I feel other people like it more than I do, or maybe it's a reaction on my skin's chemistry that I am unable to pick myself. I like using it as an everyday fragance.

Ilaria.B

Safe fragrance, pleasant, fresh and long lasting.

unlimitedfrysauce

A classic fresh aquatic, generally mass appealing (the men's is equally good and still a contender as well). This scent no longer wows me, the way it used to, but that is not always a bad thing. It makes it school/office safe. There is citrus, but nothing harsh. This is a light lemon/apple, with a bit of florals, and some musk. To this day this is the only perfume I've purchased multiple times. It is not nearly as strong as I remember from my early 20's, but that might just be age. I can spray liberally and it lasts well for 4 hours and then diminishes. Because of these changes (either to the formulation or my nose) my next bottle will be a flanker or the intense version. TL:DR Still like it, and recommend it, but perhaps not the star it once was.

Oh how i love this scent! As soon I spritz I think holidays and fun! It truly gives out good time vibes and is essentially summer in bottle. I love how long it lasts for a citrus fragrance. Just a delight to wear!

LynneDarling

The first time I wore this, I received a compliment from a stranger. She said, "Wow, you smell nice." It truly brings a smile to my face when I can evoke a good fragrance not just for myself but also for those around me.

Initially, I wasn't sure about this fragrance. While I loved the fresh burst of citrus and apple when I first tried it, I had doubts about how the green notes would work for me. The florals seemed very faint on my skin. Frankly, once the top notes wore off, I didn't detect much scent, so I was surprised when a stranger complimented me many hours later. I had assumed it had faded away into nothingness. This led me to believe that it must be working well with my body chemistry. The second time I wore it, despite thinking the scent had vanished, my husband commented that I smelled really good and was curious about the perfume I had chosen. I'm not sure what's happening with my nose here—I don't detect the scent on myself after about an hour, but others seem to. I guess it's magic! And for that reason, I enjoy wearing it. I also appreciate the fresh scent and burst of energy the citrus combination brings. I simply reapply it every few hours so I can enjoy that delicious crisp apple/lemon scent. I hope my tendency to overspray doesn't overwhelm anyone, but I believe it's light enough that I can get away with it. This fragrance is definitely perfect for summer, especially on hot days when I need a cool, refreshing burst of fresh air.

Is this perfume magical for anyone else? I'm curious to know! Haha. I’m having such a hard time rating this perfume. But I’m going to give it a high one because all in all even if my nose is failing me it’s obviously working and has some longevity for those around me. Plus it does smell lovely! (When I can smell it)

Juicy and joyful citruses (sweet oranges and lemons mostly) with clean and refreshing musky base. It has a touch of sweetness, which I enjoy in citrusy fragrances. I can also feel some cooling crisp and green notes. Totally a unisex stunner for summer!

This perfume is such a legend! I had so many bottles of it throughout my life! I adore this scent profile I think i love citrus freshies the most out of all the scent families. What I noticed is that i really like perfumes from DG house. 😍😍

scentedmeels

One of my all time faves. Very wearable and fresh. Not overpowering - its scent is apparent but doesn’t necessarily smell like you’re wearing fragrance. It’s naturally fresh and musky in that sense.

I find it to be fairly unisex, slightly feminine. It’s summery, light, clean, I really adore this. I find its longevity to be average, but you don’t need much so the value is decent in my eyes.

Anastuki

I used to love this in my teenage years, fresh and citrusy but now the only citrus I enjoy are in gourmand fragrances. It sure does smell nice, but very harsh on the citrus side, I don't know, maybe it's just I like completely different perfumes now...

YoutubeChannelBobGianShow

Some says it doesn't last long on skin. But surprisingly to me, i sprayed it on me at 3pm, but i still smell it on my skin at 9am the next day.

Maybe it all depends on the skin.

I don't need the intense version because the og performs very well on my skin.

Scent-wise, it's a 10/10 for me.

Clean, Fresh, Citrusy, Classy.

I love it!!!

shohruhnorqulov08

This is not a women's perfume. It is 100% unisex. Very pleasant. Very pleasant. Mild scent. I really like it. Not very similar to Versache eau fraiche.

9/10

Allthingssmelly

IMO an unbeatable freshy. I don't like aquatic fragrance and citrus can give me a headache, but this classic is done just right. This is an everyday easy reach. The lemon in this is so realistic and fresh that it's effervescent. It works beautifully in all seasons and I never grow tired of it. This will always be in my collection and will always be a favorite.

sabs1205

Imagine: the perfect clean, crisp, lemon and cedar perfume, with a gorgeous white floral dry-down that is so lightweight and fresh, and will never nauseate you. Yup! You found it! Light Blue is a classic, and lasts long, with the perfect projection. I feel a sense of freedom and light breezes on the beach wearing this. Gorgeous!

michaljireht

This is definitely on the milder side. It has a clean and fresh scent with hints of citrus that make it perfect for everyday wear. However, I did notice that it wears off quite quickly, which is a bit disappointing. It's a pleasant and inoffensive fragrance overall, but it does have a slightly generic quality to it.

adam2419

I remember liking this once upon a time, even though I can't stand apple in fragrance. I'm looking for a fresh summer scent and tried a decant of the current formulation. What happened? I remember it being a fresh, citrus heavy scent. Now it's just dried lemon rinds and dried apples - like lemons and apples that were left to dry in the desert or a food dehydrator. Dry and chemically, even "dusty" smelling like when you're cleaning and you accidentally catch some dust in your nose. I like my summer frags to take me to a cool breezy oasis where white flowers bloom and fresh citrus fruits hang off the green trees and vines. This Light Blue drops me in the hot, arid desert under a harsh noon sun with a bunch of dusty furniture to clean. It's too hot where I live for this mess!

destani_lei96

The first fragrance I ever bought for myself and a well known classic of the fragrance world. Very fresh with the lemon and apple, but quickly turns into a woody musk. I originally bought it at an airport and it really fit the vibe of “vacation”. Not in a tropical island sunscreen sort of way, but more like a walk along the Mediterranean coast in the summer with some lemon trees. Maybe a trip to the spa and a night at a local bar after. I really like the cedar in this. Makes it sort of unisex and I could imagine a guy pulling this off well. I could also imagine someone making this work year around since it has an aquatic note to it. It does feel very “young” though, and has little sillage/longevity. More like an overpriced body spray than anything. I recently rebought it for the memories, but ended up gifting it to a young college student who I felt fit it a whole lot better.

Mr Inquisitor

Perfect weather cologne I don’t say warm weather leaning towards the hot side, I would say more so the cooler milder portion of the year. Even though I don’t think it works poorly when it’s warm to hot. It doesn’t last too long. It’s a linen, powdery smelling cologne.

kermzie

comes off oddly warm on my skin, surprisingly perfumey. very vague on me, even sweaty. not clean, not fresh; rather a sour, musky dampness. like i’m trying to use perfume to cover up acidic anxiety sweats (you know the ones)

Anarig97

I would describe the smell of Light Blue as lemon-infused water. It was very light and refreshing, which I liked about this perfume. This scent would pair well with the summer months since it may be less attractive to insects than a floral or citrus-forward perfume. However, the longevity is on the lower end of moderate. I was disappointed at how quickly this dissipated from my skin. It did project beautifully while it lasted, though. I want to wear this scent again, so I will probably go for the intense version.

Giulia23

Just bought Light Blue after almost 10 years of not owning it. It used to be my all time favorite perfume. And I can safely say it still is. I always enjoyed strong citrus perfumes over anything else. On my skin after drying a bit, smells like freshly cut lemon slices, and a bit like green apple. It's not the most long lasting perfume ever. And I even tried Light Blue Intense. But the smell is very unique to me. It's a very clean fresh scent perfect for summer/spring days. Do not recommend blind buying it. Some people might find it too sickly. But if you love citrus scents, definitely go for it.

angievoicu

I like it, i did not expect this smell. To me it smells like milk. No citrus, just musky and milky, lactonic clean smell. It's inoffensive & doesn't last long on the skin (on the clothes it does), but that doesn't bother me because i like scents that are like this one. Very nice! But do not blind buy, go and test it first.

fluffyfairy

It's giving lemon scented cleaning solution.

dinkleheit

Upon the first spray, it's citrus, but not just a synthetic citrus, it smells like freshly sliced or squeezed lemons without any sugar to it. Then as it dries up a bit I get some sweeter notes which I think is the green apple. Then after it's fully dried I get apple, lemon, and jasmine. I also get a bit of a green smell, which might be the bamboo. Overall, this is a fresh, slightly sweet perfume that smells like summertime in the Mediterranean. I feel like I am walking in a lemon tree field and sampling fresh cold lemonade with apple slices in it.

LoreinaL

Very juvenile scent geared towards teens and early 20-something women. This scent isn't complex by any means. Smells incredibly clean. Almost clinical to me due to the overwhelming alcohol smell at first spray. The lemon and bamboo notes are really the only two notes I am able to smell on dry down, with some alcohol lingering on. This does not last on the skin and sits very close to you. It's okay. Wouldn't recommend.

cass0101

Overwhelmingly lemony upon the first spray to me, the dry down is quite nice. A little woody & musky, but still fresh. Does not last long at all on me. Maybe 1-hour tops.
Versace man eau fraiche & I love love definitely share the same DNA I would say. I love love is more orangey, eau fraiche more masculine.
Reminds me of the early 00's & summer. It's a nice perfume to spray on after a shower when you want to feel clean and fresh.

TheJester420

I’ve tried countless times to like this fragrance having friends who love it, but I just can’t. The citrus note is pleasant at first but becomes overwhelming. I find the citrus to almost have a “candied” scent to it also, There are many perfumes that use strong citrus notes and smell fantastic for example Coco Mademoiselle, yet this perfumes other notes almost seem to clash with the citrus making it unpleasant. This perfume is easily forgettable and lacks anything making it unique. It’s a fresh, soapy summer citrus scent. While I wouldn’t say I hate it, it’s not something I would reach for or buy again.

gory-rilmore

*Alec Baldwin voice* Lemon!

But really. That’s 90% of it. Lemon. Maybe I’m underselling it. It’s like, really nice fresh lemon sparkling water. It DOES smell good. It’s just not that memorable.

It’s a quick dry-down to very light woods and florals. Feels very work appropriate without being too serious. But the big detractor is that it’s only barely detectable on my wrist after 20 minutes.

AmieClay

I tried a sample of this over the weekend and I remember it being a light scent... but nothing else about it. Today, I can't name a single note or anything else about it. I'd have to pass on what is, to me, a completely forgettable fragrance.

AllisonNW

Terrible strength and longevity even for a citrus freshy. I don’t know why anyone who likes perfume would purchase this.

pogvamp

fresh out of the shower citrusy smell, it reminds me of fresh linen and always made me feel happy and clean while wearing

Maaz2004

DO NOT BUY. Get the intense one. Its a good fragrance but the smell lasts for like 10 minutes. Even if you overspray, which is ridiculous for the price. The intense lasts 4-6 hours, and you only need 2-3 sprays.

AishPetti

My cat loves the smell of this perfume

dawnnyy

My best friend has this and it is super yummy, just not the best preforming. I want the intense

gabija424

A beautiful clean scent, need to buy a full bottle c:

ronin.jose

starts off with a lemon note that resembles the bursting juices from a tart, sour citrus peel, which then tones down a bit giving way to a vaguely fruity note that is unique to this fragrance..something along the lines of either lychee or apple, but apple is the one listed on the notes so obviously it is apple lol. along with that is a clean musky base that just ties everything together into something simple and clean but not soapy or shampooey.

the whole effect throughout the mid stage to dry down is just this indistinguishably and universally clean scent that is not sterile or detergent/cleaner-like, slightly aquatic but not calone-like, vaguely citrusy, soft, nice scent that is an equivalent of a clean, comfy, crisp cotton shirt. this scent is kinda like the smell of a windy summer blue sky. it sounds corny but it really reminds me of that lol.

this is undeniably a generic scent. out of many clones of this scent, i smell this everywhere. but i actually kinda don't care. i've always been up and excited for the artistic, creative and complex stuff out there and still now but tbh, sometimes generic is a good thing. it's the sense of familiarity of a certain scent profile that i associate with either a sense of comfort or nostalgia. but then there are also certain scent profiles that i associate with bad memories, which stops me from liking it. as i get older, a generic scent no longer stops me from enjoying it if i love the way it smells, which grows me out of the corny and cringe elitism in the world of niche/indie and vintage scents.

perfumekiwifigorange

Aquatic and wet. It smells limp and putrid to me. Very squeaky, not clean, a bit like a clorine swimming pool. Headache inducing. Beautiful on the right person.

webblt

inoffensive aquatic citrus, perfect for everyday. the musk keeps it from being a bathroom cleaner. love to wear this as a lesbian, although i don't think it will be a forever scent for me. but a classic that really has stood the test of time. mainstream for a reason. might be switching to acqua di gioia bc the citrus is brighter and less muted by woody notes, but light blue is fresh and refreshing, great for the office, especially if you lean androgynous

yukikiki

Beautiful lemon scent with a touch of wood. The wood isn't heavy. The fragrance also has a slight hint of green. Imagine squeezing a fresh lemon next to a lemon tree.

No lemon cleaners in this one.

Very bright and fresh and cuts through the heat of the summer. Quite casual and can be worn on casual day or night time events.

If I was a lemon/citrus gal I'd buy this. But unfortunately I don't lean towards lemon scents. Perfectly unisex down the middle and guys can absolutely wear this.

afroerotica

OMFG! Listen, I want to be shrunk to miniature size and trapped inside a bottle of this divine fragrance. Absolutely life-affirming, clean, exhilarating and just out there. The citrus moment
lifts you up as its cool essence plunges you deeper into Mediterranean waters, while David Gandy calls out your name. 10/10.

GarfieldTheCat

i love light blue. it reminds me of the paper perfume samples in 00s issues of seventeen magazine, and when mixed with any vanilla perfume, it becomes lemon meringue on my skin.

skm50

Smelled nice on the initial spray. Lovely citrus blast. And then it dried down to the weirdest sour play-doh smell. I thought I was tripping, so I had my mom smell it on my arm, and her face scrunched in disgust. Definitely did not work on my skin which sucks because people always recommend this as a freshie

SnoozeB

New to the fragrance game, I decided I'd go in and test light blue as I've heard about this one everywhere! On paper it's everything I would want in a scent. Love the initial spray, the lemon and light accompanying notes were absolutely perfect. I fell in love and bought into the hype instantly.

After going to grab a drink and snack, I kept smelling something off about it the more it dried down. I think there's almost a soapy scent on my skin that feels a bit too mature for me. I don't normally like extremely powder or soapy scents, I think it may be playing a part here. Had the end not been a let down I would have bought into this fragrance forever.

Eline091

My husband adores this fragrance and complain over all the other scents I own. It's my signature summer scent. I love thats it's fresh, but at the same time woody and it has a powdery and creamy drydown. It has also has vintage feel to it that I love.

Janini

I’m late for this light blue game . I got to know through my best friend who swears by this fragrance. It’s her signature scent and it her fragrance for life. I bought a first light blue 4 months ago and it was the OG. I have to admit it’s a love at first sniff. I can bath on this fragrance alone that how much I love it. On my skin it smells so creamy milky crisp and clean. I’m surprised there is no milk nor lactonic note listed here?! This is very comforting and I found myself reaching for it more often when I need a break from Niche fragrances. I love this scent so much that I went back and purchased both the light blue intense and Summer vibes all together. The performance is poor but I have no problem overspray . I give it 10/10

Melis.t

My body chemistry amplifies cedar too much that I find it hard to wear it. It gives mens cologne vibes so not really my type of scent.

oea10

After the initial spray, it reminds me of sparkling and refreshing lemonade and makes me thirsty. It's cute and fresh. I don't smell the apple or rose much. After it dries down, the woody notes start to become prominent. I'm not sure it lives up to the hype though because it's a pretty simple lemon scent and what you'd expect for the accords. I'd definitely still recommend if you're into lemon.

sarahtew

Got this as a free sample from Sephora a while back; not for me.

jenzel4381

My used to have this because my husband bought it for me for Christmas years ago. It was a pleasant scent, and I did use it up, but it just wasn't me. I'm not a citrus gal.

ivholyneedle

I got this in winter, and I can't wait to wear it this summer... like a consolation gift to myself on account that it's still so dark & cold -- I totally agree that on some people it smells like shower gel or toilet air freshener. On one person, it was like a... boys' body spray, quite tragic really. (as a comment further down mentions, it could even be down to diet - meat & dairy eating individuals seemed to have that masculine/stale/shower gel scent, while on me - I eat plant-based - it remained very light, fresh, and feminine)

After 5 hours of wear, I still smell like citrus - and that's it! I feel like a glass of ice-cold sparkling water with a slice of lemon in it. Can't wait to smell it on sun-kissed skin; I already feel like summer is coming while I wear it... I can see why it's so popular! If you have the right chemistry for it, it has a wonderful simplicity to it. I can see myself wearing it out shopping, doing errands, exercising...

I've heard that it fades quite quickly on some, but on myself, the lingering scent of citrus was there after a long time still.

nukleo777

I know most people would say that this perfume is mainstream. However, I enjoy the freshness of the citrusy notes. Crisp and clean smell. I find it very unique and musky powdery notes are nicely blended. Perfect spring and summer perfume that lasts long, at least on my skin. Compliments are sure thing with this one.

jansiri

This is a perfume every woman should have. So citrusy and fresh and on me the musk almost turns milky. Love the opening notes of lemon and cedar which make the fragrance seem more grown up than the generic citrus fragrances. This is the first bottle of perfume i finished.

kattyalf

I honestly just don’t get the hype with this perfume…
To me, it smells like citrus dish soap, and nothing else, literally just lemon.

lolllee2nd

I've avoided trying Light Blue because cedar notes don't play well with my chemistry, usually turning rank and sour like old sweat. However, I got a sample in a recent order, and I know it's been so popular for so long, so I gave it a try. It is one of two perfumes with cedar notes that I can wear. Wow, this really surprised me! It's popular for a reason. The cedar is so well blended and so light it doesn't turn sour on me. Light Blue is a soft and spicy citrus and light wood. It's really nice. I added it to my "want" list for summer. Perfect for jeans and t-shirts and casual sun dresses. I can almost feel the summer sun when sniffing my wrist. It's wonderful and warm this cold winter day.

JoobMoos

Summer Perfection.
Like putting on your best self.
A crystal-clear vision with nothing missing, extra, or off.

saroraa

I usually prefer sweet gourmands, but this is one of my favourites. Sharp citrus which gives a clean and fresh vibe, and later fades down into smelling sweet and slightly powdery. It also lasts forever. I can spray it in the morning, and by the next morning the scent still lingers. It is the perfect summer scent.

vpace91

This is one of those fragrances where I like it a lot, but I'm not sure if it's something I want to wear.

Dee97

This makes me feel so nauseous now each time I smell this.. I used to love it. I want to try the intense version as I heard it’s way better, but as for this I can’t see myself wearing this again.

Glyceryl

A cold and fresh fragrance that is perfect for cutting through the thickness of a hot summer day.
One of my very first designer fragrances I received as a teen and I still love all these years later.
Always get compliments when I wear this; sweet, woody and fresh. This would also work well as a gym fragrance.

gusduvall

Subversive and complex, to say the least. Truly remarkable and one of its kind. It’s popular for a reason. Hypnotic in its most simple way. Complete nosegasm. The citruses blend enigmatically with the flowers to create a scent that can be worn by a lot of females. Massive crowd pleaser. Definitely summer girl vibes who’s in love with herself, others and nature. Meant for a sunny day with a pleasant temperature outside. I get that as time goes by this fragrance may start to be seen as outdated, as more daring fragrances start to enter the market mixing more exotic ingredients to create different smells. Nonetheless, this is timeless and it set a milestone in the perfume industry and with it a higher bar to those who followed after. 10 out of 10.

preambled

Have tried this multiple times and it just does not smell good on me. It smells artificial and powdery, and not in a pleasant way.

alissakurowski

This is really strong for a Toillette. My Mom loves this. I think its a very light floral and very nice for spring or all year. I like it a lot. It's got nice sillage and lasts a long while tho.

essance

I enjoy this scent.. I discovered it when I was in middle school and I couldn't get over how fresh and clean of a citrus it was. VERY similar to moschino 'i love love' by the way.
I think this is overpriced because it is an eu de toilette and it doesn't last very long. It dries down very quickly to a clean mildly citrus fresh fragrance and loses the initial bite. It is also mildly soapy which I personally like.
This fragrance reminds me of a summer or spring day, everything in organized, the laundry is in the washer, and I'm making my to do list for day. It's an energizing, motivating scent, definitely not a nighttime reach.

shery k

It’s big no for me no reason
Just I don’t feel confident when i wear it

cottagegore

realized i'm an aquatic, citrus scent lover when i had to hold back moans after smelling this at sephora. smells exactly like a body cream i had as a teenager, and i'm still obsessed with this calming smell and how softly it nestles into the skin. i can somewhat see the "furniture polish" arguments, but i don't think this is shockingly citrusy enough, as it dries down to a more subtle and intimate effect after, like, a minute. will be my signature for many summers since i committed to buying a 6.7 fl oz due to a nostalgia- and discounted-driven craze, but i'm happy with it. makes me want to gnaw on my wrists, truthfully.

lightlover

My signature scent in high school. Opens very citrusy, but I get so many compliments. Light and inoffensive. Wish it lasted longer, but I love it while it's there

jeffersonfaudan

i like this scent along with D&G The One... this smells like freshly peeled pomelo... i love this scent but the performance is meh... i prefer perfumes that leave a scent trail and make people know you're there not something that needs to be licked off your body for them to be able to smell it...

saragrace

Another scent I had as a teenage girl. One that is, charmingly, had by so many teenage girls. I love and appreciate the universality of that. I remember I picked it out and my dad got it for me as a birthday gift. It was one of the first perfumes I ever picked out, I remember loving the powdery note. Is it really me though? No, and I think it’s the same experience for many people, it’s something that smells pleasant that we pick out as we are still developing. Something widely available and inoffensive. I do consider it to be a pleasant scent. I ran out a long time ago but I can’t throw the bottle away, I cling to this memory of a different time, of being a different person, of having a less rocky relationship with my father. I still smell it and it’s all very sad but it doesn’t exactly bum me out, it kind of just opens me in a painful, comfortable way. I have a feeling that someday I’ll get another bottle. I have a feeling I’ll spritz it in secret and it will remind me of being a different person. I have a feeling that I won’t mind this. I won’t mind it at all.

So fresh smelling. Very cold perfume. You pick up on the citrusy notes but especially that green apple. I love this one. Fares beautifully in the heat!

VRIN

I now love this fragrance more than ever! Back when it came out the drying smelled of ammonia, as many pointed, hence didn't like it so much then. I changed my diet to a whole food plant base 5yrs now, I swear it has zero ammonia smell, it stays stable and dries down beautifully. I am sure my diet change made my skin chemistry less acidic making the fragrance not turn Ajax. I love it so much now.

PeacefulSunshine

Very nice. :) Reminds me of CK One except Light Blue is more zesty/citrus-y (whereas CK One is more cardamom/slightly earthier).

Light Blue is PineSol, but as a refined perfume. I like it!

Return2Scenter

So similar to Cheap & Chic I Love Love Moschino which I wore in high school, sniffing this in duty free took me right back to being 16yo. The apple and citrus combo is very fresh and bright, definitely a summery scent.

KaitM

My mom’s signature scent for at least a decade. It smells similar on me, unsurprisingly. Because of the association, I couldn’t “steal” the scent from her to wear - plus I have a bit of a different taste in perfume! A shock of sour fruits with woody base. Something about it screams “beach,” but then, my mom’s a beach bum. Perhaps the jasmine brings me a sunscreen vibe. Smelling it always brings a smile, whether for nostalgic reasons or not.

beauty of trance

Lovely perfume!!!! strong strong strong citrus notes struggling to find a lot of wood mostly smelling a lot of green. maybe not my favorite opening from what i tested but as it settles after a few moments its extremely wonderful very strong.
certainly would love to purchase this beautiful frag

vanilladoll

i have a tester bottle of this. never tried it because it’s not my type of scent at all. but smelling it from the bottle, it’s nice. clean and inoffensive. like if you took a cleaning product and removed all the chemicals and you were just left with the scent. i wish my bottle was a spray instead of a dabber because i’d definitely use this as an air freshener lol

magred

as the biggest unisex freshie fan on the planet i should love this for it's light, watery top note but omg the weird musky bottom kills my brain. does not scrub off. gagggg.

CrisMS

This was the first fragrance I fell in love with in my early 20's. I had never smelled anything like it before, love at first sniff and still a love after so many years and so many other discoveries.

Agree with Yusrayacoubi below - this was made for Mediterranean weather, it just shines in the heat! It's clean, airy, fresh and citrusy in the opening, but dries down to a clean, cedar, musky scent that last surprisingly well. It's one of the most unique clean citrusy fragrances ever and one of the most recognizable, I don't see it as a generic or boring at all. If anything, I think most fresh fragrances were inspired by this one and I hope they never discontinue it. I always have a big bottle of this in my collection plus a mini 25ml for travel and touch ups and I will never be without it.

A classic that is still modern. I prefer the OG to the intense or flankers.

Thranduilseyebrows

I wanted to like this. It was giving soapy and fresh rockmellon. For me it selled a bit too 'clean', It was such a nothing smell that went away so quickly i couldn't even form a solid opinion 3/5

smokysweetangel

Better than Light Blue Intense for men. This is comforting , citrusy and fresh. Unisex in my opinion.
Smells a bit like play dough in a good way. It’s inoffensive and hard to dislike.

Hifza

Very light, soft and soothing! It's my summer signature scent, super refreshing and easy breezy, crispy green and lemon notes make this scent stands out. I have used this at my previous job a lot, it kind of made my hectic work life easier and better.

nikxx

mckennoli

Not for everyone, but it's a nice fresh unisex scent. Smells beachy and summery without being trashy. Yacht parties and nepotism vibes, very classy. This is pretty long lasting and could work on a man or woman. It's also one of the most unique and recognizable scents to me, I've passed many people and immediately known that they were wearing this fragrance.

randomwanderings

smells like caustic cleaning chemicals i cannot scrub off. it burns my nose and smells of ammonia

Yusrayacoubi

I am both on Spanish and English Fragrantica and I can see a lot of criticism about this perfume in the English one. But on the Spanish, my God, we worship this perfume.
I’ll tell you why, Light Blue performs best in Mediterranean weather. Was inspired and made there. The weather there is just perfect for this scent, here it smells clean and the citrus disappears quick leaving a Woody, musky, airy sweet but clean trail.

Fabiana89.

My love for this perfume is ENDLESS

mekanazekana

It's perfect for summer and warm nights. So refreshing. It last long and it is ideal summer perfume. Last 15 years I always have to have some version of Light Blue on my shell.

mistyeyes45

I was really into perfume when I was 13/14 and my mom bought them for me for some reason. This is the first one I picked and the only bottle I've emptied. very refreshing and light of course. I would spray it on after gym. now perfume gives me headaches more often and I have a cat I don't want exposed to them.

Charlene:3

Got it as a gift but wouldn't buy it for myself. Smell of fresh citrus/washed clothes, I used it as an air freshener :)

Pandoraa

Fortunately or unfortunately, this is my signature perfume. I have been wearing it for almost 12 years and it is a soft out of the shower fresh citrusy smell with some earthiness and woodiness in there. It is long lasting but not penetrating as it blends so well with the skin. My then lover used to compliment the way my skin smelled and said he would recognise my scent even blind in hell, so how could I not keep buying this after such a declaration? I was convinced it was that perfume and, if your skin works better with citrus scents rather than vanillas, you get me. They say it is more springy and summery but I disagree, even the Light Blue Sun edition has worked great all year long.

Sometimes it is the subtle ones that bring the compliments.

struct by_lightning

Most of the reviews here say that this perfume is a perfect summer fragrance. Interestingly enough, I disagree. On me, the cedar is the dominant scent and the citrus notes work to brighten up the woody-ness, as opposed to the type of woody scent that you get with perfumes like By the Fire. It's defintely a scent that I would associate more with fall/winter than spring/summer because of how it works with my body chemistry. The staying power is not fantastic, but this isn't an issue if you stick a travel-size spray in your purse to refresh every few hours. This would not be the perfume for you if you are looking for a super feminine scent.

febia

Like the lemon and green apple brightness.

meowing

why does it smell so cilantro-y... also i don't love the dry down

TRmen

YAWN... Just yawn. The most boring fragrance I've ever smelled...

Strawbunnee

Definitely not a good blind buy--which I was about to do, but I headed to Ulta first to smell it, and I am so glad I did. I found the smell to be way too masculine, especially the intense version. Even the EDP was a bit too unisex/masculine for my taste. Great citrus but not for me at all.

MTK82

I used to love wearing this one especially in my honeymoon in Maldives! A lot of nostalgia with this one...its bright and breezy...a little sharp at the beginning but warms up on the skin gradually. It's a cute perfume.

Monecoljack

Classic all time favorite

supergirl9412

I actually really liked this at the top! The lemon was refreshing and not grossly sour, and the green apple was pretty realistic with just a hint of sweetness. But the cedar and musk (and maybe bamboo?) really made this feel old-fashioned and quite powdery .. very different than the refreshing scent I was experiencing minutes prior.

I have no notes regarding longevity because it became so annoying that I had to scrub it after about 30 minutes.

FreshSummer

An evergreen with musky citrus fruits that in over 20 years has conquered literally everyone and continues to do so.
I love!!!

PorcelainDolly2003

Very clean citrus scent. This one is special to me because it is the first perfume I ever bought. Inoffensive scent safe for pretty much any occasion but the lasting power isn't so good

celyn_jo

This on me smells very artificial and just doesn't work for me at all.
I prefer smelling this on other people than on myself.

leaves.n.rain

This is the white t-shirt of perfume. This is a perfect citrusy fragrance that doesn't smell too acidic or sharp. Perfect for sunny days when you want something summery and fresh. It is pretty light, so if you want more projection you'd need to spray it more. I don't get any apple, although that's what it smells like to my husband, I just get lemon and light florals. This perfume is like sipping sparkling lemonade on a terrace above the Mediterranean in Italy. Simply stunning.

vtothek

This is one of the all time greats of fragrances, in my opinion. It smells like a beautiful late spring or summer day! It’s a bit of a fresh citrus bomb at first but it dries into a lovely woody finish. The jasmine and rose are almost undetectable to me, which is a good thing. My body chemistry used to reject this fragrance many years ago, but to my utter delight after trying it again this summer it appears I can finally wear this gorgeous scent! There is nothing else like it, so fresh yet also sophisticated. Perfect for warm days, and maybe even a nice little treat on cold days too.

Domenica23

I still love this perfume after all this time it's on the market. And the reasons are so many, it`s a timeless scent, classical, one can wear it over and over, it doesn`t tire ever. Ok, sometimes one needs a change, but it`s also great for layering. If I got a huge bottle of this one, no problem, I will wear it and if my neighbours say they can`t smell it anymore, so what. No joke, this is the classic under many who try to be classics. Ok, CK was a good one also, but on me it didn`t stay long. While Light Blue sticks really well.
But CK is lemonier and more EDT. While Light Blue is more EDP. Chanel no.19 is also really citrus tendancing. I love it. But i never will understand why they stopped selling the refill of 100 ml. First they offer it, then they stop. I guess they sold only that one in the end and wanted to people to also buy the other ones.
The sweet Light Blue is light but also new in its composition. Good job D&G.

Cmm2104

The one that started it all for me! This was my first real designer fragrance purchase back in the day. This started my love for fragrance, and dislike for citrus 😆

vdog

Fresh, clean, natural smelling juicy citruses and green apple without smelling sharp. This is BEAUTIFUL. PERIOD.
Who downvotes a fragrance simply because Summer's over! 😂

Binniebleu

Wore this all summer it smelt fresh and zesty doesn’t smell the same now in the colder months
6.5/10

bun1

The apple comes right out on my skin - the same or a closely similar note was included in Salon Selectives in the late 1980s. Takes me right back to junior high, for better and for worse.

junimo

I used to enjoy this one a lottt when I was younger. Inoffensive, very clean, but doesn't have much staying power at all.

Smelled it again recently and for the first time I smelled citrus house cleaner in a perfume. I love citrus and never make that association, but it is here.

Einfinken

Not a bad scent for summer at all. However it is too inextricably linked to the smell of middle school locker room circa 2002-2003 for me to ever be a wearable summer scent in my adult life.

n87

I understand why people like this, even if I'm not keen on the overall scent myself. The opening on this is so refreshing and is perfect for a very hot day. The lemon notes lean a little too much like lemon cleaner to me though, and the performance on me is so poor. It disappears completely within 20 minutes. The intense version is very similar, except I get an extra 10 minutes or so before it disappears.

Melo-D

This perfume opens on a fresh lemony zest. And as soon as I start picturing a lemon cake and go for a second whiff it’s gone. My skin devours this perfume in seconds.

Fiddyscent

Great classic fresh scent, been using it on and off for a decade

Unfortunately terrible longevity. I opt for a dupe roller ball version on Oilperfumery.com

nora.sa

The initial spray gives off a strong citrusy note but changes immediately to a more relaxed fresh and clean scent. I cant say that I love it or hate it, it smells very ok. The longevity isn’t the worst either, lasting roughly 2 hours.

sumercruz

Not a fan. I tried it's few times and just wasn't super loving it. I dont enjoy stuff that smells like fresh linen, soapy green, ocean ect that much but I love jasmine, and thought the musk and amber would stand out more but this just has too much of that sharp green headache inducing smell for me to enjoy.
I really wasn't getting too much citrus either. If anything, more like, unripe citrus peel that's kind of got that soap vibe, not the sweet juicy kind. Maybe the ceder in this was too much for me?

There are *slight* soft notes there that help balance it, but not enough that I can get past. If it's smelled for too long and sprayed too much (like the first time I wore this, big mistake) it gives me a headache.
I personally wish it wasn't as green and maybe slightly creamier or sweeter for myself to like it. Was hoping for a nice everyday perfume that was light and something different from what I typically gravitate towards, but its just not for me. I ended up just giving it to my mom.

I notice it does stick to you and your clothes very well, and you can smell this for a long time. The one time I sprayed it infront of me in the air, not directly on me, and I could somehow still smell it on myself for hours afterwards. So it does last awhile, and I'd say between close/medium projection.

Kizzyb93

It’s okay, pretty basic though and due to its lack of performance, I wont repurchase another bottle. Although, it is strong upon initial spray, it can only be smelled about an hour or so afterwards.

Raquelinda

É puro amor, geladinho, um suco de limão delicioso.

Zombie Apocalypse

Stunning!

sarage

I bought a small gift set for myself of this classic freshie, notorious for it's bad longevity!
It's beautifully fresh without anything sharp or disturbing. I'd say it's fresh and also sensual.

In hot climate the longevity on my skin - and I sprayed very generously - was like 10 minutes.. Then it was gone. Now, back in Finland's cooler climate the longevity is a lot better but not great. I knew it before I bought it, but since I love this type of scents, I wanted to have Light Blue in my collection. I love lemons and lemony fragrances.
I use it as an after shower/sauna fragrance. The short time it lasts, its beautiful.

LMBelvi

I didn’t really want or expect to like this because it’s so popular. But surprise. I do. It’s breezy and fresh but smooth.

al-lewinsky

Was gifted this recently. I don't really know why considering my hatred for citrus fragrances, and plus my whole collection being rather in the realm of moody, and darkly sexy. But alas, it was gifted to me. Hmm I don't hate it surprisingly enough. It's fresh and mild. Its story as a fragrance is linear. And its appeal could be in how it's inoffensive. The notes are perfect for the summer. It is the very image of purity itself. All of which is why this is definitely not a love for me. It's just not me at all. Light Blue is too innocent and unassuming. Someone will love this and said someone is definitely not me LOL.

sophiebebe

Pretty generic, I was expecting something more unique but was disappointed... Smells like every other "clean" "fresh" scent, so it's a pretty safe buy.

indiglo

I keep trying this and I like it when I first put it on, refreshing zesty citrus, BUT every time it just disappears on me. Something in there I'm nose blind to maybe. Disappointing.

katyb23x

I enjoy smelling this on others. When I tried it myself, I was very aware of a musky note that made me feel nauseous. I kinda get the cat pee reference a reviewer below mentioned. Bought it as it smelled good on holiday in a hot climate, was gross in the cold UK.

deungnamu

On my skin, it initially smells like cat pee, I swear to god. It eventually mellows out into a very dull lemony scent, but UGH. Never again.

The13thHour

You can not go wrong with Light Blue. It's fresh, clean and aquatic. It's really light and perfectly named. The lasting power is not great but I prefer it to be that way. There is something nostalgic and comforting about this perfume. It reminds me of Davidoff: Cool Water Perfume for Women. This is a great everyday perfume. It gives off that white-t shirt and Sunday's best vibe. I love pairing this with Aqua Kiss by Victoria's Secret.

seasalty

This scent feels very 'safe'; it's not too strong and the notes are well-liked enough to cater to a wide audience.
This 'safeness' does, in my case at least, cause the aroma to feel boring quite quickly.

LMBelvi

I thought I disliked this from trying it in a store. But a friend let me try hers and I found it breezy and pleasant. It works for me. Now, would I buy it? Probably not because of its popularity and familiarity. So many other deserving scents that are fresh, casual and inoffensive.

martel.308

Nothing special; I use it as a quick, after-shower, everyday scent for when I don't feel like wearing something special. This is a very simple citrus scent.

Unlike Light Blue Intense, this does work with my skin chemistry (no screechy chemical smell).

It sits very close to my skin, which I actually like for hot and humid weather! I smell it a bit when I move around, but otherwise, it isn't in my face all day. Perfect for the summer days I bought it for.

When I want something a little louder and more complex, I often pair it with a coconut body spray. The perfect combination!

Made by Kouros

My wife wore this at one time. I loathed the smell so much, I started looking at women's perfumes to gift her anything else. I've now gifted her three fragrances she loves and this bottle is gone never to be smelled again. Happy man.

bringprivateaccordback

bought this at the beginning of summer as I was craving for something with citrus, but ended up disappointed and sold mine after about a month of trying to like this.

I got no apple or even rose or amber from this. this smelled artificial and soapy lemon, very much like a cleaning product as several others have said. also I thought it was gone very quickly considering the price point - I could put on four sprays on my neck and not detect it after 1 hour.

luanneog

Smells citrusy, fresh and clean kind of green fragrance. To me is generic, nothing I haven't smelled before. But I get why it's mass appealing. Very inoffensive.

Melody Valentine

I've never liked this. I don't like fresh, citrus perfumes in general. To me this is harsh, masculine and smells like bathroom cleaner. It's not even a "mother's perfume" scent, or not my mother's anyway, she hates stuff like this too. To each their own but I don't know why anyone would want to smell like this and for the price you pay for it aswell, there's much cheaper perfumes that smell like this and probably perform better too. Whoever wears this would probably say the same about me wanting to smell like vanilla, marshmallows and cotton candy or heavy ambery scents so it's all subjective. It's not the worst perfume I've ever smelled but if I'd never tried CH Good Girl then it might have been.

otterfaces

On my skin, it just smells like furniture polish. Luckily the longevity is also abysmal!

BrittXo

Oh light blue, light blue, light blue….
Such a beautiful scent - reminds me of citrus, and clean laundry. Like you’re making lemon drop martinis in Greece and then decide to hang up your freshly washed clothes as there is a slight breeze that gently moves past you. However, as beautiful as this is, the longevity just isn’t there. Lasts not even an hour in my skin. Very unfortunate.

isagani

Light Blue is slightly astringent upon first application, and the dry down mellows out. Lemon, cedar and a very light musk are the notes that stay on me the longest. The fragrance has alright longevity (5 hours), but I wouldn't expect the sillage to be strong; I consider this more of a skin scent.

If you enjoy fresh, linen-like and citrusy scents, this is a safe choice for a blind buy. I think it's in your best interest to purchase this at a discounter though- I would not buy this fragrance at full price even though I enjoy it.

Overall a charming fragrance.

LycheeSun

Nice fragrance, however can only smell the citrusy part, it is extremely lemony
Fresh but best for clothing and not on skin as the smell comes through better that way

KAYAGIRL

Zillions of people love this perfume Why I dontno. I absolutely hate it.

pmgt

People love it, people love when I wear it, however... I'm sort of unable to smell it properly. ATH's review was the most accurate saying it smelled like dry (just ironed) linen. To me that's a good description because ironed linen smells like ironed linen just for a split second. I'm only able to perceive a subtile arome when I spay it on clothing and it vanishes extremely quickly. I wonder how people around me compliment me even several hours after application...

matchaincense

I love anything fresh and citrusy and I’m usually the one going to bat for perfumes that people say are weak performers so it feels crazy that this was such a letdown for me. Smells like nothing out of the bottle. On my skin it’s just a very faint and nondescript lemon/lime and alcohol smell. Can other people smell it on me? Idk, I haven’t gotten any comments on it. Tried it in store to make sure I didn’t get a bad sample… same results. Prob just gonna toss the rest of my tester.

eelii

I have had this perfume for years but somehow I never reach for it. I guess it’s because I prefer warmer/cozier fragrances. But today I was craving some freshness and I decided to give it another try.

At first spray I was surprised - what a lovely smell! Fresh but somehow also sweet, very summery. I wondered why I never reached for it in the last few years. My husband was downstairs and when a I was closer to him he said I smelled very good and that I left a trail behind me.
(For reference, I did 3-4 sprays on my skin and 1-2 on my top)
The smell was very uplifting and I was already thinking about turning it into my everyday fragrance for the summer.

But.

Yup, unfortunately there’s a but. About half an hour later, the smell turned on my skin in a bad way. It wasn’t as fresh anymore, but kind of sour and “stingy”, if that makes sense. Made me think of someone who just sweated a lot and instead of taking a shower just tries to hide the smell with perfume or deodorant. The thing is, even though I was outside at that point and it’s a warm day, I wasn’t sweating at all… so the sweat-like smell was coming for the perfume only. I was very disappointed.
Also, at this point it wasn’t leaving a trail anymore but only detectable (quite clearly, though) when sniffing directly on my skin.
Luckily on my top the smell was still pretty good, although also noticeable only when putting my nose directly on it.

Another half an hour passed (so only one hour after spraying it), and the silage is even weaker. Almost inexistent on my skin, barely noticeable on my top.
And on my top it wasn’t as fresh and sweet like before, but kinda turning sour - although not as much as it did on my skin.

Another hour has passed (two hours from spraying) and it’s completely gone from my skin.
The one spray on my shirt is still there, but again it’s not that noticeable. I think it got back at being sweeter now, and also softer.

To sum it up, the performance is not that great at all, but it’s a lovely fragrance! I’m sure it does wonders on other people’s skin chemistry, but unfortunately not with mine.
I still think I will reach for this fragrance more often after today, but I need to remember to spray only on my clothes. I might try on my hair as well to see what happens, maybe it can stay a bit longer there and not turn bad? Let’s hope so!

cgaleb

Harsh for the first minute or so, then becomes very fresh. The main notes I got were lemon and cedar with a slight floral edge (but I can’t pinpoint the type of flower here.) 2 hours after spraying it and I can only still smell it in my shirt. I had a dabber type sample and I’ve come to realize that I don’t get the real feel or longevity of the fragrance with dabbers. I liked this as a bright summer freshie, a spray and go type of scent. However, my favorite similar scent is IA’s Falling into the Sea, which I get better performance and is prettier than Light Blue. If I found it for super cheap, I’d buy it, otherwise, I’ll stick to Falling into the Sea.

Laynie_Scents

If you drench yourself this lasts well. Omg! On a super hot day this is my top pick! So fresh! Lemon, green and woodsy

Jose Zerpa

I really wanted to like this one, while I was shopping for fragrances for my GF. I know a lot of people like it and I was so excited to try it, but as soon as I squeezed the trigger.. BAM! I smelled a blast of Minute Maid lemonade ! I put it right back on the shelf and moved on to the next. I don't want my GF to smell like lemonade. This one is a hard pass for me.

ellie1810

This is my joint favourite scent and always find myself reaching for this as soon as summer starts. It is like squeezing pure, freshly squeezed Sicilian lemon juice on your skin. To me, this smells like I am walking on a beach in Italy, a white shirt on, with a slight smell of salt water and citrus on my skin. Wearing this just takes me to a beautiful place. I was actually on the beach the other day sat on the sand with my partner, and this lady came up to me with her dog and said ‘One of you smells amazing! I could smell you from down the other end of the beach! What are you wearing?’. I always thought this scent didn’t last long as I couldn’t smell it on myself, but this changed my mind! Just beautiful.

Linvalcasmo

I don’t get the hype with this at all. It’s so sharp. Smells like straight up cleaning products.

vaiva.nenartavičiūtė

No longevity at all. It lasts maximum 5 minutes. Even if you spray 20 times at once.I finished my 50ml bottle in 4 days

lynne2

I just had a shower with lemony body wash, put on boyfriends cotton tee and heading to beach. The smell of my body, tee and oxygen by the sea - it all makes Light Blue. Relaxing, aromatherapic and erotic as every resort holiday can be. Try before buy is a must because there are too many people anosmic to fragrance.

dm7918

Haha, FragranceFriend! I always seem to have it, but somehow have never purchased it! It is a well balanced citrus-woodsy scent that anyone can wear and everyone does! Good projection, great longevity for a citrus, and day/night office/play safe.

YourFragranceFriend

Do we even need a review of Light Blue? I've never had to purchase this fragrance as free samples and mini bottles are constantly showing up for me. This fragrance is iconic and I still smell it on people year-round when I go out. It opens tart and lemony. It's wrapped in something creamy from the opening to the deep dry down. To me, the other notes don't really matter. This is not a scent where you can pick out individual notes, rather you get a linear scent that is just Light Blue. It's a beautiful scent overall. I found it a little strong when I lived in a colder climate but I've been enjoying it more since moving to a warmer place.

As for the comparison to Atelier Cologne Cedre Atlas, they are pretty different. Cedre Atlas is scratchier and dryer of a scent from vetiver and papyrus. It also skews much more unisex. This weekend, I sprayed Cedre Atlas on my fiance and me. It smelled amazing on both of us while Light Blue would be too feminine in my opinion.

vsakega

Nice scent, but for my personal taste it is a bit too lemon-y and not complex enough. It is definitely a crowd pleaser though, especially for the summer. Maybe I'll learn to appreciate it more in the coming months. ;)
Projection is very weak though. I've had to spray almost my entire 0.8 ml sample to get average, moderate projection.

sweetprincessbaby

it’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s generic. good fragrance for work or everyday wear. would I buy it? No. for the price it should give more longevity or sillage. the scent itself is great, but the price — sillage or longevity is giving overpriced.

Dee97

This is the perfect summer fragrance. Any other time of year, and it smells too citrusy and sharp. I used to think people were exaggerating when they’d say there are perfumes best suited for different seasons (before I became a frag head). But it’s true, some perfumes just shine better in warmer/colder weather. This one really shines in the heat. I’m still yet to find a better summer perfume than this because the ones I’ve tried are either too sweet or too fruity - this one is just right. Fresh, clean and crisp.

Leila22920

It took me a long time to like this. It was offered to me on my birthday (near Christmas) and I was puzzled by this cleaning product D&G fragrance. I thought something was wrong with me. Then Jus de Rose recommended it as the perfect gym freshie and it made me nauseous. Today, it’s going to be 20-29 degrees here in London and something about Light Blue just felt appropriate.

I sprayed it and it was refreshing, light, fizzy. Like a cold glass of sparkling lemonade under the Italian sun. Refreshing, invigorating, gorgeous, effortlessly pretty. I’ve just found my favorite summer freshie :)

j.andresminor

I tried from an office partner, must say smells a bit more masculine than femenine if not at all a male type of scent to be fitted exactly in my category of genre, that jamboo note is a bit Up in the Middle of the rest of the notes which i understand some women seems not to like it much or can be annoying or seems on my skin harsher combined with the green apple, which is a cleaner note that makes jamboo smell washy and a bit acid, so these notes, taking all the rest of the ingredients, lets say, it can make loose identity if it goes to one on another genre, but jasmine seems to dominate a bit that noisy notes. It's a bit more dimensional than the Male Version of Light Blue which is i my opinion so zesty citric and boring. I prefer this version

whitenine

Classic summer scent that you can never go wrong with. Pair it with flowy white dress while roaming the streets riding bicycle or walking by the beach. It's citrusy and fresh and I believe that it is not unique so you can literally get another perfume with citrus notes in it.

I don't know why but I think this is how Santorini would smell like.

HannahRosesAreRed

Light Blue–the quintessential summer citrus freshie, a classic since its early 00s release. From it's fruity-fresh, sharp and piquant notes of lemon and green apple, likable packaging with that signature sky-blue hue, it's hard to deny to appeal of this hot weather go-to. I consider this unisex. The subtle green note of bamboo takes off the more overtly feminine edge and lends a degree of depth, softening the sharpness of the lemon and apple. And it is mostly lemon and apple here–the florals all but disappear under the top notes.

The opening is slightly screechy in that recognizable Y2K way perfumes were formulated, though it mellows out into a much sweeter, softer, fresher but no less citrusy fragrance. This is a great "just out of the shower or pool" spritzer, a fun and easy reach.

However, Light Blue suffers from its poor longevity, a big problem for a fragrance made specifically for summer heat, sweat and humidity. Thankfully, over time, Dolce & Gabbana learned their lesson and created some flankers with better performance, mainly Light Blue Eau Intense. If you can get past the longevity issues, Light Blue is a good, user-friendly summer starter fragrance.

spinozas1677

huh, I thought the bottle was for men. Usually "angled" bottle tends to be for men and I prejudged it lol
This smells sour with strong presence of Jasmine playing a role. Quite crisp.
If you've ever smelt the Japanese marble soda drink, think it was called "Ramune" or somethin
It smells like Ramune with stronger lemon juice but not carbonated.

A quite gatorade / powerade type of scents but way more sour and feminine
As it dries down, citrus woody reminiscence sets on the skin but it quickly permeates into skin smell. Weak sillage tho.

If a guy must wear this,
it's totally for a certain teenage guy who looks like Leonard Dicarprio at his prime idk :)

neecola

Ok, so I do love this fragrance, the lemon, the apple, the bamboo <3. BUT the silage and longevity are absolute crap! I can't believe for the quality and the fact that this came out in 2001 that they can still be selling this for $130 a bottle, so disappointing.

MoctezumaC

I love wearing this while I travel in the summer.

I wear it to Palm Springs when I go back home visit and the desert heat makes this RA-DI-ATE!!! It works best in DRY HEAT.. The humidity kills the vibe here.

I agree with most readers here that the citrus is the star of the show but I also do not get any apple, cedar or rose...and honestly....WHO CARES?!?!!? I think if these notes were at all prominent in this fragrance it would be a bust.

This is an all time classic, ageless, timeless....go to your local CVS, Sephora, Macy's and get this on sale only.

a very recognisable scent, i think i have grown up smelling this one on others. it performs best in high heat, insanely fresh with some powdery qualities but the citrus note is the star here. i wouldn’t bother wearing it any other time of the year apart from summer because it smells kind of sour in cooler weather. it sometimes smells like grannies to my nose? this had to grow on me but i have come to like it.

SashaWasha

Classic. Summer must have! Crisp juicy apples, sharp Italian lemons, and a fresh cleanliness that gets better and better in high heat. In summer when many other fragrances fail, this one swoops in with consistently getting the job done.

ambervxyjul

To each their own. IMO I don’t understand why someone would want to smell like cleaning products or air fresheners. It’s too clean, crisp of a smell with added citrus to make me feel like I just mopped the floor and disinfected my home. Not for me.

Hectuhhhhh

Honestly, from me as a man. This will always be my favorite fragrance on a woman. There’s something about this fragrance being so simple yet so captivating. Such a nostalgic, crisp clean and refreshing beauty. What really sets this fragrance off is when it’s worn on a really warm day by a woman and you reach in for a kiss and you get a whiff of this coming off their warm neck as it evaporates off there. Easily my favorite fragrance to smell on a woman ever.

amekiiss

my faaavorite citrus. some citruses are too heavy; they smell peely and jammy. this one is light and airy, like a soft breeze or an angel hug.

i also shattered a full size bottle of this at the airport ☹️👍

inchukalns

I reeeally wanted to like this. I love fresh & citrus scents, lemon and apple as top notes made me happy, so did the reviews saying it's smelling like lemonade. Even the fact that it's a generic and basic "mum perfume" did not scare me, so did the comparison to lemon air freshener. But.. I just don't get lemon or apple on me :( What I get is a powdery, sweet mess, as if someone left a lemon cleaning liquid in a plastic bottle under the sun fo too long. Too much syntetcis and too powdery, really suffocating. To me it's more of the unisex or even men's scent. Did not work for me at all.

TessaG

I'm really surprised that so many people ranked this as moderately long-lasting. I think it's my skin chemistry, but the gal at the store did admit that it doesn't last very long. On me it was a beautiful, refreshing, lemonade with crisp apple, until it was gone about 5 minutes later. Am I anosmic to it, or is it my skin chemistry? Makes me sad, because the scent definitely had a great opener! Try it for yourself - maybe it will last longer on you.

mevans

I'm a little late on this one but I got the body lotion as a gift with another purchase and then I kinda gave in and bought the EDT when I happened to see a 50ml for $30 at Winners. I like it and I'm not the biggest fan of freshy citrus scents. It certainly has it's place in the spring and summer for daytime wear. The lotion I already had probably helps with sillage and longevity, but I'm happy with it anyway. I wouldn't have paid the $70 or $80 I've seen it for but for the price I paid, it's good.

HoneySmoke889

Overdone because it's just...good. Easy everyday reach that will never steer you wrong.

Allybabaa

Please don’t buy this. Unless you want to smell like Lysol wipes for an hour. Cmon people. Buy illusione from bottega veneta instead and thank me later.

perfumelovere

I think I would've liked this if there was no cedar in the top of the note pyramid. It's too woodsy which ends up turning powdery to my nose when I smell this on myself and on others. Powdery is suffocating and old ladyish.

GigiKay

This is my favorite perfume that I own. Love, love, love. I clicked for a summer day, but it's the best every single day. Every one. All of them. Completely perfect!

beecave

Is this everyone's mothers go-to lmao, needless to say its popular for a reason <3

verzosa

I love wearing this with my natural wavy/curly hair on a hot sunny day. About a decade ago I tried getting my hands on it in the cheapest way possible. I kept on getting non-concentrated versions, which made it smell like bug spray. I decided getting it last Christmas directly from Ulta. It gets me lots of compliments. A woman commented that it smells like I just got out of a sauna. It is sharp and soft at the same time.

Tardismama

This is a beloved old friend. Before I fell headlong into the fragrance community this was my first non B&BW body spray perfume and my sig and only scent of most of a decade. And yeah, it's as "basic b***h" of a perfume as it comes, but, let's be honest, most things that get the basic label get it for being versatile crowd pleasers - which this really really is! And there's something special about this one, it's so gorgeously blended! I mean, look at that note pyramid, the votes are pretty much even for all parts - you wouldn't want that for every perfume, sometimes you really want something as the focus, but in this case it's really just a sign of a really smooth and easy to get along with scent. I also want to challenge you, try this one "out of season"! Yeah, it's fantastic in summer, all bright fresh apple lemonade and dewy semi aquatic florals. But it also absolutely sparkles on a cold winter day - the freshness is so crisp, like snow, and mirrors fresh cold air in a surprising and delightful way. It's lovely in fall and spring too, the florals pull focus in spring and the crisp juicy apple and cedar musk is wonderful in fall, different facets are highlighted depending on the ambient.

cinnasnow

I loved this one when I was younger. It was my signature for quite a while. On me, it smells very lemonade-like.. But with a bit of a saltwater/ocean-y vibe. It's like sipping ice-cold lemonade on the beach. It can definitely pass for a unisex scent.

Siurkus

Light blue is very soft smelling. It opens up with a citrus note which turns into this fresh, aquatic, flowery vibe. I have worn this before and have got compliments for it even as a man. The nice thing about this fragrance is that it lasts very long and does not come off as overpowering or heavy. If you like a more rich smelling fragrance and want to keep the overall style of light blue, I would 10/10 recommend trying the extreme version of this.

ThiccandJuicyLime

Sour and realistic lemon opening shifting into a nice bamboo green/woody/citrus scent. pretty unisex I would say. Its one of my fav. scents and perfect for summer. It does have a sporty and outdoorsy vibe. The only bad thing about it is the longevity, only lasts for around 4 hours and not a strong sillage.

smccmurphy

Soapy citrus. Very intense lemon zest in the opening before calming down into a tart green apple. I see the appeal and it is refreshing, but I have a difficult time personally not associating strong citrus scents with astringent cleaning products. For that reason, I’m out.

christiney

My mom's favorite! Sophisticated, fresh, timeless, and perfect for any occasion!

saho93

I understand why this is popular. Refreshing citrus and tart apple, zesty clean.
Lovely flowery dry down. I like it a lot.

suzanne_ronald

WHISPERING Citrus. Signed by perfumer Olivier Cresp (Light Blue Eau Intense D&G, I Love Love Moschino), this cult classic opens with a burst of soft lemon-apple with cedar nuances, and continues into a fresh, green floral heart with airy, velvety & near-violet nuances all resting on a musky cedar base. As is dries down, it takes on a fluffy, floaty & velvety quality (likely from rose) that elevates the lemon. Hearkens to memory the marketing campaign with a woman floating in a canoe in blue waters surrounded by mountains.

Contrast to Cheap & Chic I Love Love Moschino:
These is a similar vibe, but I Love Love is more mandarin forward. I Love Love has better performance but lacks the fluffy, floaty nuance.

Contrast to Light Blue Eau Intense:
These share a similar DNA, but Light Blue Eau Intense is more citrus forward and zesty-citrus than the floaty/fluffy-citrus of Light Blue (OG). LBEI has superior performance.

Contrast to Light Blue Forever Pour Homme:
There is a similar DNA but Light Blue Forever Pour Homme is more grapefruit forward and has superior performance, but lacks the fluffy, floaty-y nuance.

Contrast to Eclat d'Arpege Lanvin:
These are different, but there is a similar vibe with a well-blended and floaty fruity-floral punctuated with a citrus note. Eclat d'Arpege leans more sweet-water/violet and doesn't have the coldness, more similar to Bel Azur Tory Burch, while Light Blue is colder and leans more citrus-aromatic. Eclat has superior performance, especially layered over its matching body lotion.

Contrast to Primrose English Laundry:
These are different, but Primrose shares the same vibe of floaty fruity-floral punctuated with a citrus note. Primrose leans more violet, similar to Eclat d'Arpege. Performance is equivalent to Eclat d'Arpege and superior to Light Blue.

Overall: Straight up unisex, modest performance and a stunning scent profile. This is the perfect scent to wear on the water. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Flowerfruit

This is one of the best fragrances ever made! It makes me feel so happy & carefree and is perfect for warm weather. I will forever own a bottle of this.

I was able to pick up a small bottle at Costco for around $36. I had never smelled Light Blue before so I was excited to see what made this so popular. As soon as you spray it you’re struck with a gorgeous lemon zest note, but the lemon is not sour by any means. It’s wonderfully sweet, like fresh lemonade. Following the lemon you get an almost aquatic note, probably from the bamboo. The dry down is gentle and a little warm thanks to the cedar and amber, but you’ll still catch a hint of lemon. If you could imagine sitting at a coastal town cafe with your cold lemonade, straw hat, designer sunglasses, and flowing sundress surrounded by flowers and sunshine, that is this fragrance. However, even as lovely as this is, it is so incredibly light on me and it doesn’t last long at all. For the price I would expect the longevity to be unquestioned. Because of this, I’ll wear this to bed now and again since it is so clean-feeling and I’ll be asleep by the time it starts fading anyway. For a bed time scent, I love layering this with Bronze by Ellen Tracy because of the similar lemonade note. The powdery dry down for Bronze compliments Light Blue quite well, and I can’t help but feel so relaxed with this combination. I believe this to be unisex, but if you can find a sample bottle first to test it out, that would be beneficial in saving yourself some money because there may be a big lack in staying power.

musti12345

It's like taking a big sip of ice-cold lemonade on a hot summer day - refreshing and sweet.
It smells good on everyone. From grandmothers to college kids to teenage girls, who doesn't want to smell fresh and clean?

PixelatedFran

Meh.

irlfireprincess

This is a really nice light and inoffensive feminine scent suitable for almost any occasion. I get mostly apple with a bit of citrus. Usually I really dislike apple notes; for some reason, it's one of those scents I like to experience in real life or as a candle but I personally don't want to smell like it. But it's tempered by the lemon and cedar. The cedar isn't prominent but just helps to ground the crisp apple. There's a bit of powderiness and I'm not sure what note it's coming from, but it's a clean, fresh, elegant powderiness. The fragrance comes off linear to me, as the apple and lemon is what I smell for most of the detectable life of the fragrance - which, sadly, is only about 2 hours with 2 sprays. But it's an EDT and can be found for a good deal. I received a sample of this along with a purchase of a different fragrance and I might grab a bottle for casual days when I don't know what else to wear or for very hot days when I couldn't stand to wear anything else. It'd also make a nice gym fragrance.

michalamellsgood

This literally lasts 5 minutes, it's a joke. I had light blue intense before and that one also lasted maybe one hour but this one is just a waste of money

njuliette10896

Smells like luxury hotel shampoo, very strong but you know it's good quality. So it's not for everyone, don't bling buy it!

Morgan45

Two word review: Salon Selectives.

yzmo91

I mostly smell apple, citrus and musk. It's casual, unisex and steers away from getting into the sweet category. I think it was unique when it first came out. It was the epitome of the citrusy musk perfumes. However later other houses made smell-a-like versions of this citrus musk category (and better versions imo e.g Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Oribe Cote d'Azure, the list goes on). Longevity and projection is so-so. Not worth the price. If you seek for longevity the eau intense has better reviews.

Edit: Now that less people are wearing it feels more unique and it has started to grow on me. It's interesting that it manages keep the balance between citrus and cedar. No fuss and neutral smelling scent.

realitygreene

I tried this fragrance yearsssss ago and it didn't work for me then. All I got was cheap lemon cleaner. Today, however, it's really doing it for me! The lemon is tart, but sort of sweet. The bamboo and florals are in harmony with the fruity notes and woody base. This is really really nice and well-rounded. It reminds me of a much more feminine version of CK One. Not an exact dupe, but it gives me the same vibe. I really enjoy this and wouldn't mind having a travel spray.

ehall

Only perfume to give me a rash. Not sure what ingredient causes it.

alternateu

I think it's a LITTLE overpriced for what it is, but it's still gorgeous.
It opens with a beautiful, sparkling, tart LEMON. It's juicy, without being "sweet". It doesn't last very long on my skin unfortunately, and then dries down to this slightly citrus-y cedar.
I don't get an obvious "flower" note, but I do think the rose + jasmine + apple blend together to form this little veil of slight sweetness. Overall I'd still say it's unisex, but it's definitely one of the few VERY citrusy fragrances that a woman could wear easily.
I've tried this in the store multiple times and loved the opening, but couldn't quite bring myself to purchase because of the price to longevity ratio.
I did try the Italian Love one recently - UGH. Gorgeous. That one I bought within 30 minutes of trying it.

DCJerry

This is one of the few "female" perfumes that I enjoy wearing as a male. Simply casual, won't impress many, but a great choice nevertheless.

Neuro Jack

Don’t own it and I’m a man. Just smelled it on a woman and asked her what it was because it gave me some childhood memory flashback from the 90s . Made me think of some memories and reminded me of somewhere in japan. And of a bamboo forest specifically. Very interesting and beautiful smell. I could smell it from 15 feet away.

SakuraFalls

Well, I finally have a tester bottle.
So my signature scent for the longest time- and still maybe so if I decide- is I Love Love. It is Moschino's cheap and chic, same perfumer Olivier Cresp. Because of this guy: I love perfume. I suspected that he had made both, and when I found out I wanted to explore more.
I like that Dulce and Gabana have so many flankers. Prices have risen for perfume. Someday when I can afford it I will add this and the best flankers to my collection. With my body chemistry it smells identical to I Love Love on me. When I spray each bottle away from me I can smell the distinct differences.
I recommend having I Love Love if you have this and love this.
I cannot wait to try the Italian zest and Love Is Love.
Don't stop with this amazing DNA. Maybe dated as a trend now, but I think I will love this fragrance forever.

sweetlikecandie

To me - this is completely unwearable. It purely smells like sandalwood and lemon but is more woodsy than citrusy. Doesn’t smell like summer, doesn’t smell like a beach, doesn’t smell like water or yachting. Just doesn’t smell that nice to me. It’s not particularly sexy which is fine because I don’t believe they were going for that, but it’s strong and borderline masculine but not in a good masculine way. Like a cheap masculine cologne you’d pick up for $5.99. This is a huge miss for me

Lykopa

This is unisex to me! It kind of reminds me of my sister. It’s a sharp lemon - i get the winded comparisons but it isn’t bad at all! It’s very summery and fresh, for when you want a splash of citrus in your face.
